- 2:35overnight visitors to carry bear canisters starting
- 2:39May 1st. In response to a rise in bear encounters,
- 2:43the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire
- 2:45and Maine announced a new year -round food storage
- 2:48requirement. Beginning May 1st, visitors must
- 2:52store food. trash and scented items, like soap
- 2:56and toothpaste, in a cylindrical, hard -sided,
- 2:59resistant canister certified by the International
- 3:02Grizzly Bear Committee. Failure to comply could
- 3:05result in fines, according to the U .S. Forest
- 3:08Service. Bear -resistant food boxes will still
- 3:12be available at the 13 Falls Tent site. The Forest
- 3:16Service also offers a free canister loan program
- 3:19at various locations in New Hampshire. Now on
- 3:27to sports. Rory's defense has disappointed in
- 3:31the first rounds while looking ahead to the rest
- 3:34of the Masters. How will a loaded leaderboard
- 3:37take shape? Will the course continue to get more
- 3:41difficult? We look at round one and what could
- 3:45come next at Augusta National. We're just 18
- 3:48holes into the 90th playing of the Masters. and
- 3:52the tournament is already delivering at a high
- 3:54level. The leaderboard is stacked with some of
- 3:57the best golfers in the world. Five of the top
- 4:01ten finishers in last year's event find themselves
- 4:04inside the top ten again. Four of the top five
- 4:08in the world are part of the group of only 18
- 4:11players under par. In local sports, Josh Hart
- 4:16sent the Madison Square Garden crowd into a frenzy.
- 4:20with a pair of fourth -quarter three -pointers,
- 4:22scoring 15 of his 26 points in the final quarter.
- 4:26Jalen Brunson also contributed with 25 points
- 4:29and 10 assists, leading the Knicks to a crucial
- 4:32112 -106 victory over the Celtics on Thursday
- 4:37night. Jason Tatum had a strong return, finishing
- 4:42with 24 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. but
- 4:46it wasn't enough to keep Boston's four -game
- 4:48winning streak alive. The Knicks now sit two
- 4:51games behind the Celtics in the Eastern Conference
- 4:54standings, with both teams having two games left
- 4:57to play. In top news, Tim Cook does not want
- 5:03to talk about retirement yet, but John Ternes
- 5:05is emerging as his most likely successor. During
- 5:10an all -hands meeting at Apple in January, an
- 5:12employee asked about a spate of executive moves.
- 5:16Apple's chief operating officer recently retired,
- 5:19while the chief financial officer and general
- 5:22counsel took smaller roles to prepare for their
- 5:24own retirements. This transition reflects a logical
- 5:28change at a company that turns 50 on April 1st.
- 5:32Apple stock has made executives wealthy, prompting
- 5:35many to prioritize family time over work. In
- 5:40business news, OpenAI and Anthropic are racing
- 5:45toward potentially record -breaking initial public
- 5:48offerings by the end of the year. An inside look
- 5:51at the financials of both companies prior to
- 5:54funding rounds completed earlier this year reveals
- 5:57their Achilles heel, the soaring costs needed
- 6:00to train new artificial intelligence models.
- 6:03OpenAI expects to spend $121 billion on computing
- 6:09power for artificial intelligence research in
- 6:122028. Such losses would dwarf those of virtually
- 6:16any other public company in history. Both companies
- 6:20are releasing new versions of their artificial
- 6:23intelligence models at an unprecedented pace
- 6:26amid rising computing costs. In crypto movement,
- 6:31Bitcoin is up 4 % for the week to just over $72
- 6:35,000. Ethereum is up 3 % to just over $2 ,000.
- 6:42And XRP is unchanged at $1 .34. Moving on to
- 6:49a more local vibe. In our community spotlight

- 7:25Hingham, Brookline, and Framingham, just be sure
- 7:29to tell them. Sunny morning sent you by. And
- 7:33now, back to the show. Let's talk science. Entire
- 7:39human populations vanished 3 ,000 years ago.
- 7:43Scientists figured out where they went. The population
- 7:46drop opened the door for outsiders to repopulate
- 7:49with new demographics and cultures. The famed
- 7:53Neolithic decline that struck around 3 ,100 years
- 7:57before the Common Era in northern Europe has
- 8:00a new scientific explanation. The influx of newcomers
- 8:04came from the south as Iberians began repopulating
- 8:08the Paris Basin around 2 ,900 years before the
- 8:12Common Era. Researchers believe they have found
- 8:15out why the Paris Basin suffered a dramatic population
- 8:18shift. And in entertainment news, Jeopardy! champion
- 8:25Janie Ding from Lawrenceville, New Jersey, has
- 8:29achieved a remarkable milestone by winning his
- 8:3220th straight game, tying the record set by host
- 8:35Ken Jennings. Ding entered Thursday's episode
- 8:39with winnings totaling a staggering $539 ,573.
- 8:47By the end of the Jeopardy round, he led with
- 8:50$8 ,800 against his opponents, Alexander Leith
- 8:54and Prithish David, who had $800 and $3 ,400,
- 8:59respectively. Ultimately, Ding finished with
- 9:04$32 ,000, marking him as the first contestant
- 9:08to win 20 or more games since 2022. Well, all
- 9:13righty, folks, it's time for the quote of the
- 9:16day. And today, our quote comes from the American
- 9:19author and motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar.
- 9:24And he said, You don't have to be great to start,
- 9:27but you have to start to be great. And that's
- 9:32a wrap for this morning. You can check out our
- 9:35Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok for some captivating
