[upbeat music] Catchy, catchy business right there It is catchy. Yeah. Hey, everybody. Full Spectrum Cycling.
• 0:18
Hey. Show number 100. Whoa. Triple digits. Wow, we're in the triple digits. 100. Not- It's a century... currently in the new studio. No, but 100- Still no electricity in there, folks. I'm not complaining.
• 0:33
It has been super freaking cold, so- Yeah... haven't wanted to do much about it, but stopped by there today, still no, no electricity in there. But I'm sure at some point it will be finished and we'll move over there.
• 0:46
Yes, yes. Good things come to those who wait. So JK's back in the house. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Tony's sitting over there looking out the window. Hey. [laughs] Like a little doggie- Looking at bikes...
• 1:00
he's also got something flying around by his head. What is that thing? Is that- I do. What is that? There's like a moth or something. Oh, yeah, that's a little tiny moth. It's a little- Aw. Don't kill it.
• 1:07
It's probably eating clothes. Little moth. I know. I was about to do the... [swats] That would've killed it. I know. Don't kill it. But that's why I s- came back. Yeah. Don't kill it dead, JK. I didn't.
• 1:18
I didn't, but I thought about it. Hey, we got a, just a brief sort of clandestine mention in the OnMilwaukee story about the, one of the other tenants in the new location. Yeah.
• 1:30
[laughs] I commented right away, I'm like, "That's Everyday Cycles." There's gonna be a bike shop there, I think it's a- And that's not Greg in the picture, but it almost from a- [laughs] Could be...
• 1:37
by phone size, looked like Greg in the picture. Yeah. I imagine at some point we'll be graced with Jason McDowell's presence to- Yeah... talk about the new location.
• 1:47
I cannot believe I have not already thought of having him on the show. Right? He's creative director of OnMilwaukee. And his wife's the manager of Wheel & Sprocket. Sprocket. Sprocket.
• 1:59
We should start talking about sprockets when it does. When it does. Which wheel and sprocket? Uh, the, the, the big one, I think, over the new headquartery type one. Oh, wow. Well, that's his view.
• 2:09
That's where, that's where pictures are always being posted from. That is a, an interesting location. They made the waffles for their wedding. Oh, right on. Waffles are good.
• 2:19
I'm finding your- No, it's even better than waffles, waffles with chicken and gravy and, uh- I was gonna say-... syrup... [laughs] I just commented to someone today that the, uh- National Waffle...
• 2:29
that the barbecue, or the, I'm sorry, the chicken and waffles at Big Daddy's BBQ is pretty good, but it is not Dino's good. Oh, well. Rest in peace. That's something I've been curious about.
• 2:40
I haven't gotten over there yet. It's pretty darn good. Pulled pork's real good, too. Pulled pork's always good. I just, I just like seeing there's- Yeah. Nice and spicy... I love seeing the smoker just wafting- Yeah...
• 2:49
and wafting the neighborhood, and it's like, "Ah." He, he said on a good day he'll go through 20 po- uh, 20 bags of Kingsford Charcoal. Amen. Ah. Uh-huh. It's, he's there all day cooking. It's, it's fantastic.
• 3:00
He's gotta start making his own charcoal. I know. He probably should, but he, he, I think he's got his hands full just keeping that place full.
• 3:06
And we went once in, like, 3:00 in the afternoon, they were already almost out of almost everything. Yeah. I think that's cool. That's how those places work. That's cool. Yeah. When we run out, we run out. Right.
• 3:15
Don't worry about it. As it should be. Maybe you should come here when we have food. Right. [laughs] The hours open, open when the open sign is o- on. Yeah. And when we run out of food, we close.
• 3:24
What's that, Nido, right? Yeah, true. You know? Of course, they're closed now 'cause it's cold out. Right. Well, yeah. Brr. How, uh, JK, you, you were here, not here last week. Where, what, where'd you go? What'd you do?
• 3:35
Oh, just, uh, enjoyed the subzero temperatures. Instead of just being at home, just kinda wandered around the state and went up, hit Green Bay. Green Bay, Madison, Lake Geneva,
• 3:52
north side of Chicago. Nice. Back home, loop. Nice. It worked out, you know. So it was cold and miserable, but it was, like, a different setting each night and...
• 4:00
I've only been to Lake Geneva a couple of times, but I've been relatively okay with it. Surprisingly okay with it. Yeah. Yeah. It's nice.
• 4:07
We, we, we, we nudged on a little- Especially if you're not there in the summer when all the- Right... fibs are there. Yeah.
• 4:11
I, like, like, there's the, the resorty place we stayed at had a, uh, hot tub that had the indoor and outdoor, so you could go out in the cold- Oh, nice... and then go back in. Yeah.
• 4:20
I'm like, "That's, that's the only thing I need." From your room or just at the- It was the main one. Yeah. Right. Right. It wasn't quite that cool. Yeah. Found a couple places that were- Not made of money, man...
• 4:28
not complete, like, dive dive, but dive enough and, yeah. Yeah. And then there was, like, oh, what, what I thought was gonna be a dive and ended up being kinda, I don't know, a near sniff boxing bout of- Oh?...
• 4:40
Water Street shenaniganry that we had to get out of. Mm. So we l- we left our dent in, [laughs] in Lake Geneva. Did you, did you observe anybody riding bicycles anywhere on your trip? Uh, no. Yeah, well, Chicago.
• 4:55
Yeah, for sure. Yeah. And it w- and, and it was, like, active snow, and bless those delivery and those couriers, man. [laughs] They were still kicking it. Yeah.
• 5:05
Well, Al's still been riding around in the snow, except for, like, yesterday, or maybe today he probably wouldn't. Today it was super slimy out there. Yeah, it's slippery.
• 5:13
Well, and that's how that was there, and like- Yeah... like, right on Broadway, like, by- Yeah... uh, like, Wrigleyville and Boystown, it was just, like... I mean, it's still busy no matter what and, ugh. Right. Whew.
• 5:23
Right. Amen. Hats off to them. [laughs] Yeah. I don't know, I, I don't know how the snow worked, but, um, we got something like 9 or 10 inches this last one- Yeah, record... again. Record, yeah.
• 5:33
And, uh, out in Waukesha, which is only 15 miles from the lake, they didn't get anything. Yeah. Huh. The roads were wet. It's like lake effect, baby. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
• 5:42
And it was- Now, I know if- We are also, like, 8 to 10 degrees warmer than them, too, at any given time- Well, that's, that's what's nice about living by a big body of water... which is, I like about it. Exactly.
• 5:51
Exactly. Yeah. I always say, if it weren't for that lake, I wouldn't live in this city.
• 5:54
You know, I, I, even though I don't utilize that lake very much, I strongly believe that that's a l- lot of A lot of people believe that Well, I go, it's how it affects the climate for one thing. Yeah, exactly.
• 6:04
It's like, it's cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter and- E- even in River West, you know, which is, we're what? Mile in from the lake? Right. Yesh. Smelt that? Okay, well this is a cool flask.
• 6:16
Uh, today is Puck's birthday, by the way. Happy birthday, Puck. Happy birthday. I think we went to ride the [laughs] I'm not sure. I think we went to ride the beach in, uh, Port Washington. Last year? On... No, today.
• 6:30
Today. Oh, today. [laughs] Oh. I haven't consulted with future me- Yeah... future, present me. I have not, uh... Oh, I stopped- Well, is today Friday or is today Saturday? Today's Friday. Oh, okay. It's always Friday.
• 6:42
I'm tired. Friday. Every day is Friday. Yep, every day is Friday. Speaking of Friday, did you know that, uh, Ice Cube T or whatever is Ice Cube from the, he was the Friday guy, right? The movies? Yes.
• 6:53
He's got a marijuana company or dope strain called- O'Shea Jackson... F-R-Y-D-A-Y, Fryday now. Oh. Born O- born O'Shea Jackson. O'Shea. O'Shea Jackson now has a Fryday strain of his favorite greenage. Yeah.
• 7:07
Well, what, what- Or maybe it's a whole company of different strains... maybe he was, yeah, I think he was drifting perilously close to being like, [sighs] I'm in all the dad family- Mm... comedy things, you know?
• 7:19
He ain't N-W- I mean, the, uh, the guy from NWA is in a family too. Yeah. Eh. Like [laughs] he's like- Late '80s Michael is going insane. [laughs] Right? He's like, he's like a media mogul now.
• 7:32
Like, what the hell are you talking about? Mm-hmm. Well, what would a, what would a show be if we didn't talk a little bit of e-bike news? De- de- de. We need a, we need a little stinger for that, don't we? Yeah. Yeah.
• 7:44
It's something like- Yeah. There we go. Yeah... yeah, a Tesla coil. There you go. Tesla car, Tesla coil. Uh, Jeff Jones. Yeah. Most of our listeners should probably know- That name should ring a bell...
• 7:55
who Jeffrey Jones is. He makes some very interesting bikes and, uh, he's embracing the heck out of the old e-bike, making a special frame even for such.
• 8:05
I believe he calls it the LWB, long wheel base, HD for heavy duty, slash E for e-bike. Heavy, heavy duty, duty. It sounds pretty cool, you know? Heavy duty. I mean, his bikes are always interesting to ride.
• 8:19
Um, his philosophy is a little different than the average bike designer, so if you kinda dig what he's doing- It's, it's pretty-... you might now dig it with a dang old motor on it.
• 8:26
Yeah, it's pretty boss looking, let me tell you. Especially with that truss fork. Yeah. Yeah, that is really cool. Those things are just, just enough compliance that it makes it super bitching. There. Hello.
• 8:39
Oh, all right. Moot. Look, hey. Hey. Who's at the door? What, what- [laughs]... what's going on over there? Door freakery. Tony is going to get the door. Oh, it looks like Wayne. [laughs] Wayne's coming in the room.
• 8:54
Here he is. He's walking. He's put his right foot down, then his left foot down, and his right foot down- [laughs]... and now he's, now he's almost to the table. Hey, guys. Welcome. [laughs] Welcome. Welcome.
• 9:06
Welcome to the studio, Wayne. Thank you. Um, Tony's back. Hello, I'm back. Wayne, you're welcome to throw on those headphones there and talk into that microphone thingy if you are so inclined,
• 9:21
while, uh, JK goes and gets you a beer. Aha. Unless he brought his own. [laughs] Oh. Oh, right on. But hey, JK, if you're going- The sound-... to get beer... is amazing here. Yeah? You guys are, sound beautiful.
• 9:33
[laughs] Thank you. Wow. Well [laughs] so boys, obviously we've, you know- This is the sexiest you've ever sounded. Wow. Wow. Yeah. Yeah, just wait till we get done with the processing, man.
• 9:42
And just so you know, Wayne, this is our- Oof... 100th show. Yeah. Awesome, guys. You're on, you're on at a good time. Congratulations. Show- Show one hundo. That's awesome. Yep. Yep. Congratulations.
• 9:53
I'm sorry this is my first appearance. [laughs] Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I'm actually surprised Tony hasn't made you come on the show before. Yeah, we- Yeah, he's tried. I've tried. I've tried. Oh, Lord. Now I've tried.
• 10:03
[laughs] I, he was telling us earlier that you're now leaving our fair city. It's true. I am. I'm just following the retirement dream. Right on. Well. [laughs] Thanks, Tony. Tony, Tony's the, the tech guru over here now.
• 10:19
You're the tech guru. He, he plugged in your- Mm-hmm... he plugged in your mic before you got here. He- Yep... got the headphones- Got it all figured out... got them all in the right holes. He's all grows up. Yeah, yeah.
• 10:26
[laughs] He grows up and he grows up- I'm a big boy now... and he grows up. I'm a big boy now. [laughs] He can be a dang old roadie for any band in the world right now. There we go. Wow. So where, where are you headed?
• 10:35
What, uh, what funnery do you have going on? I'm, I'm, I'm heading to Washington. State of. State. Right on. Uh, Tacoma. Uh, I will be an operation manager of a grow facility. Right on. Nice. Very nice. Yeah.
• 10:53
They're supposed to make some sort of attempt at legalizing here at some point, I think, in Wisconsin. That's what they're saying. That's what they're saying. Eventually, right? Right. You know? Yeah.
• 11:01
[laughs] It won't be, uh, maybe illegal. Right. Oh, yeah, yeah. Where, well, yeah- Right... they wanna put the, uh, the citation down to $1. Yeah. But you know, they do- Or that was the last one I heard...
• 11:13
but they do also talk about the fact that it is only a $1 citation, but it does also come with the, you know, rap sheet of a criminal offense and- Oh... there is... Yeah, yeah. Well, for gangsters.
• 11:25
You still, you still, um, have a, you know, you were, you have a m- a pot offense on your record which can come up if you are applying for a job or things like that, so- Right...
• 11:36
it, the $1 thing is merely just to, you know, help people that, you know, well, let- let's call a spade a spade, but the, the African American community, who is the ones that are always getting arrested, um- I don't think you can say that anymore...
• 11:49
and cannot afford... Well, I, I just did because in, in Milwaukee especially, the person that's going to get arrested- People are getting arrested... for carrying marijuana is gonna be a Black dude, and
• 12:00
a 250 to a $2,000 fine is a lot harder to pay if you're poor than if you're a- But there's... But I'm not gonna get arrested But even if you were to get arrested because, say, you were- Reduction under numbers...
• 12:11
dumb and fell down and, and you did get a fine for- Rest, under numbers as per the 11-... $1,000.
• 12:16
Under 2D $1,000 is a hell of a lot easier for you or I to pay than it is for, you know- Speak amongst yourselves, crypto guy. Yeah, man. Holy- Yeah, Mr. Cryptocurrency over there. Just, just, just give me a... Ah.
• 12:24
[laughs] 1,000 bucks, I mean, geez. God, we're d- now we're driving into crypto? Yeah, let's talk about some cryptocurrency. Just- Did it, did it go over an hour? Well, they're not gonna legalize it.
• 12:29
It t- it took- No, but it's close [laughs] It took this region to get, like, close to a decade to get, like, a terrestrial Starbucks after Starbucks came out. I mean, for fuck's sake. How that's legal.
• 12:40
Yeah, yeah, I mean, there was one housed in a Barnes & Noble- Right... and that was, like, it for five to seven years, so. This is the Midwest. Yeah. Things m- So I'm not holding my breath...
• 12:48
things move more slowly than out in Washington State. Or maybe I am holding my breath and- [laughs] But yes, Washington State sounds lovely. And, you know- The no smoke law...
• 12:54
Wayne is a unicyclist, so he could have a lot of fun out in the mountains out there. I'm hoping. Yeah, you do, uh- A little bit of rolling... off, off-road rolling on a unicycle, yeah? Yeah, I'm a Mooney. Wow.
• 13:07
They like to refer to us as- Mooneys... a Mooney. Mountain unicycle. So what is your unicycle of choice? Um, well, I prefer my 36. You know, it's a, you roll faster.
• 13:23
The Milwaukee unicycle, if you will, it rolls fast on the roads. What can you do? I mean, what do you- 17. 17. Moving. That's, that's cooking. And, and, and, and the dismount is no good. [laughs] I bet not. I bet not.
• 13:41
Not at 17 miles an hour it ain't. No. So have you done the 24 on it? I have done a 24 on it, but as a team. Gotcha, okay. But not on that. I did it on a 24. 24 for the 24. [laughs] And that was an off-road 24, wasn't it?
• 13:56
That was an off-road 24. Yeah. The- Was the entire team- Tucson?... Moonies? Um, the entire team was, uh, single speed. Gotcha. Uh, the second person was a, uh, freewheel. Wait, what, what race is this?
• 14:11
'Cause I think this is Chewy's race. Oh. Uh- Is it in Arizona? Uh, no, uh, Moab. Oh, that's right. 24 hours of Moab. I'm sorry, yeah, the 24 hour Moab is what you've done. Ah, gotcha. Okay.
• 14:20
There's also a 24, two, of Tucson. Haven't you done that too? Yep, I've did that, but not on a unicycle. Okay, okay. There we go. That's a- Single speed... single speed. 24 hours of Moab is a serious event.
• 14:31
On a fucking unicycle? It, it needs to be. [laughs] Yeah. Yeah. [laughs] It's a great event. Right on. Very sad day it's gone. That is too bad. Well- Mm... Moab still lives, but the, the event passes.
• 14:41
There was a whole legal thing, right? Yeah, it's just a, they ended up paying- Insurances and stuff... a lot of- Yeah... insurances and- Right... it just became a big deal. It was a lot of expense. Right, right.
• 14:53
That's too bad. That's, man, that was- It's great when things come and stay around for a while, and it's- Mm. It's really nice to remember it... 24 hours of, you know, Riverside is [beep] awesome.
• 15:03
What's that beep-y sound? What's that beep sound? Probably me. [beep] I don't know. No? That's not me. Nope. Is it a caller? [laughs] [laughs] Yeah, it's coming. It's coming through. I can't hear shit, and- Yes...
• 15:13
it's coming through. I can hear. It's, it's not me. Yeah, it was Zeto. Oh. Are you doing the show? No. No. Yeah. No show here. All right.
• 15:19
I'm leaving, uh, Moto Scoot right now with Trusky and Andy Mock to go ride the river trails. Right on. If anyone would care to join us. Um- Thanks... maybe, but we're gonna- It's fucking gorgeous out.
• 15:30
We're still doing the show- It is... for now, but, uh- All right. Yep... well, come and join us. Holler. Right on. Holler. All right, bye. Okay. See ya. Guest appearance from Zeto. So I don't know.
• 15:42
I, so I guess the phone works- Mm... even without using the gizmo. It, if he- Mm. It pops something up... well, if he calls my number, I hung up on myself to answer the Zeto call, so now I gotta reconfigure.
• 15:53
Uh, talks amongst yourselves. Maybe Tony can tell us about the new, uh, the Baby Maker clone or something. What the hell? Baby Maker clone. Yeah, just when you think, you know- That's not good...
• 16:04
the, the Baby Maker wasn't a ridiculous bike, I do have to say at least this one, uh, Wayne, to catch you up to speed, Baby Maker has been this Kickstarter bike which first of all has the dumbest name in the world. True.
• 16:16
Um, and it is- [laughs]... it is a m- made, it's a, it's a basically a Chinese e-bike that they're marketing the shit out of. It's like a- For-...
• 16:27
1,000 to $2,000 depending on if you want disc brakes, belt drive, you know, but it has the batteries are built into it so it looks like a regular bike, and that's their claim to fame is to, like, no one will know.
• 16:39
So it's a Baby Maker because they don't know you're riding an electric bike, even though you're riding it really fast so you look cool.
• 16:44
So another company now which is real called, um, Ride1Up, um, is known, they're a California company that's known to bring,
• 16:53
like, low buck decent quality electric bikes to market, has brought this thing that looks exactly like the Baby Maker. Wait a minute. No way. Google Channel. I gotta ask about the Baby Maker. Sure. Show recording is on.
• 17:05
Because, [laughs] because what you're trying to tell me is that if you ride really fast you're a stud and you can make babies? Apparently that's what they're trying to market this bike as. [laughs] Okay.
• 17:14
I'm just making sure. It's, it's worth a, a vision, a visual. You know- [laughs]... to see these two bro-has, I mean, they- All the syllables come together and it just kinda glazes over...
• 17:30
they have these, you know, these videos of people riding their bikes and they've clearly- Right... never ridden a bike. [laughs] Well- Oh... things like that...
• 17:37
so, so they're not going to make very good babies is what you're saying. Probably not. Oh. But they did make- Only if it was a step three... what was it? With a bad Baby Maker. How many millions of dollars? $14 million.
• 17:47
Made a lot of money. They made a lot of money on this bike. It's a one size fits all bike, isn't it? There's two sizes actually. Oh, two sizes. It's- Two sizes. It's an electric Cuffy. It's an electric Cuffy.
• 17:58
[bell ringing] Uh-oh. We have just hit top of the hill. Top of the hill, ladies and gentlemen. It's time for a, time for a, a wizard staff. Wizard staff.
• 18:07
JK brought his two brothers' wizard staff from his, uh- From the travels From his travels. Yeah. Tell us a little bit about that beer, JK. Well, I can just read what you put on it.
• 18:17
Where is the- [laughs] Where is Warrenville, by the way? I put on, actually, what they're, what they say on the side of their can. Where is this- From Warrenville... where is Warrenville, Illinois?
• 18:24
Um, it's Ill- uh, south of the border of, uh, Wisconsin in Illinois. S- Wisconsin. Oh. Well, that narrows it down. So, so it's in Illinois. That narrows it down pretty, JK. I was just trying to- That, that was good.
• 18:34
I liked the-... do a little judo there... denial. That was good. That was good. [laughs] I have no fucking clue. You were.
• 18:38
Um, [laughs] but no, I was in, uh, Lake Geneva, and they were, like selling, you know, 12 packs or six packs of New Glarus for obscene amounts of money. Mm. And for whatever reason, this was, like,
• 18:50
16 bucks for a 12 pack, and I'm like, "I- d- that looks a lot more delicious than the other stuff." So yes, it's a 5%. Oh, it is juicy. It's light, yeah. Mango, citrus, tropical- No... fruits. They're not kidding. Yep.
• 19:08
It grows on you. Huh? Yeah, I think once you've, uh, had a- Yeah... a couple of swallows- There were, yeah... it's right there... like the first, yeah, the first- It's, it's-...
• 19:14
sip or two I was a little, "Hmm, this is a..." Hmm... but now it's very drinkable, and at 5% I could crush a couple of these. Yeah, absolutely. The- Yeah, we-... bottom line says it all. Oh, crushable. Should. No.
• 19:24
And it says- [laughs] It must be magic. Oh, of course. It must be. Oh, oh, oh, it's magic. I keep seeing, I keep seeing Wizard Staff and Wizard Sleeve, and I keep getting those [laughs] confused.
• 19:34
[laughs] Oh, and I keep thinking of Wizard Smoke- [laughs]... which was- And yeah... yeah, yeah, yeah... the, the tandem team. That one. And then, and then Wizard Stick, which is the, the new device. [laughs] Oh. Oh.
• 19:42
I think of the new Wizard Brewery here in Milwaukee. That's right. That is a pretty good brewery, too. You were there. That's true. The wizard. Was it Sabbath who- We, we, we had a Wizard beer at that, their brewery.
• 19:52
That's it. [sings] No call out. And actually, that restaurant was not bad. [laughs] The, the little brewery restaurant thing. [sings] So Two Brothers Wizard Staff. Yes. Hmm. I remember Casey- Okay, so it's good...
• 20:05
Casey would do a, a good duct tape, uh, um, collection of his drinking of cans and make his own wizard staff, and it was rather impressive- True that... on, uh, certain occasions. It was quite impressive.
• 20:21
You'd need at least a 12 pack to make a good staff I would think. Oh, it's- 18 maybe... Casey. It's Casey, and that's... 15 maybe. Yeah.
• 20:29
[laughs] Yeah, he's probably at 15, but yeah, you're- I might have to go to Utah and buy some beer there to make my own staff back top. [laughs] Exactly, 'cause that's the only way I can make it. Little 3.2 action.
• 20:37
Yeah, this works out. Near beer. I don't know if a near beer staff holds out. Way to go, Two Bro- I'm just telling you... isn't, wait, isn't there a- Near beer... restaurant So Shied Two Brothers?
• 20:47
I'm just telling you, Utah, Utah has some good beer. Three Brothers. Three Brothers. Okay. Serbian and, uh- I was close... Tres Hermanos... it was just- Also... as a matter of fact, that was our- Which is Mexican...
• 20:54
Christmas gift from our in-laws was, or Molly's parents, was- That's-... Three Brothers dinner, and yeah, their beer is off the hook. Pligamy Porter out of Utah- Is-... is a delicious brew.
• 21:04
Yeah, and you wanna know a fun fact about Pligamy Porter is the owner of that brewery graduated from Marquette High School and grew up in Milwaukee. Can't imagine that. [laughs] Little known fact- Fun fact...
• 21:15
