- 0:00Speaker 1: Thanks Mike, We're back with cracking head coach Lane, Lambert Lane.
- 0:03Speaker 1: You go four and two on that homestand wrap up
- 0:06Speaker 1: that homestand for us, what do you feel went right
- 0:08Speaker 1: for your group and getting those four wins?
- 0:11Speaker 2: Well, I thought we start We didn't start it great.
- 0:14Speaker 2: You know, we came off of a long road trip.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I didn't love the start time of that Pittsburgh game,
- 0:19Speaker 2: having come off of the road trip, and you can
- 0:22Speaker 2: never use those things for excuses, but time changes and
- 0:25Speaker 2: all that, and we just weren't sharp, you know, and
- 0:28Speaker 2: then played a pretty good game against the Islanders. And
- 0:31Speaker 2: then obviously I wasn't happy with our Anaheim game, And
- 0:34Speaker 2: I give our guys credit. The last three games, I
- 0:36Speaker 2: thought we were dialed in better, you know. I thought
- 0:39Speaker 2: our goaltending was good, and I thought we took advantage
- 0:42Speaker 2: of opportunities and we scored some goals.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I was gonna say going into that, you know, you've
- 0:45Speaker 1: won four of your last five games. What has gone
- 0:49Speaker 1: right in this recent stretch of games that maybe you
- 0:51Speaker 1: weren't seeing in the seven or eight games prior to that.
- 0:56Speaker 3: I think, you know, we've done a better five on
- 1:01Speaker 3: five of keeping the puck out of our net. We
- 1:04Speaker 3: didn't give up a lot five on five, a lot
- 1:06Speaker 3: of goals five on five, certainly in the last four games.
- 1:10Speaker 3: You know, it's a very important piece of the puzzle
- 1:12Speaker 3: for any team, you know, And I just think that,
- 1:17Speaker 3: you know, from our commitment standpoint and the fact that
- 1:20Speaker 3: we were in our structure, I thought we were better
- 1:25Speaker 3: for the most part than we were on that road trip.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Although you know, I wasn't unhappy with the Ranger game.
- 1:30Speaker 3: I thought Boston when we lost, I thought we played
- 1:32Speaker 3: maybe our best game of the year.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I still think that. So, you know, you just never know,
- 1:37Speaker 2: right like it's there's a goal here or a goal there,
- 1:41Speaker 2: or a play here or play there that make the difference.
- 1:44Speaker 2: And that's what was happening to us on the road trip,
- 1:46Speaker 2: the Boston game and even the Utah game when we
- 1:49Speaker 2: were tied with five minutes left.
- 1:50Speaker 1: We found out this morning Berkeley cat and will not
- 1:52Speaker 1: play on this road trip with an upper body injury.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Just starting to find his stride and scoring more often.
- 1:58Speaker 1: What are you going to miss these next three games
- 2:00Speaker 1: without him in the lineup? And who are you looking
- 2:02Speaker 1: at stepping up in that role?
- 2:03Speaker 2: Well, I think that he you know, he provided Chandler
- 2:07Speaker 2: with some speed on the wing, and Chandler is a
- 2:11Speaker 2: great skater. I think Berkeley almost forced Chandler to skate
- 2:16Speaker 2: even more and that was nice to see, you know.
- 2:20Speaker 2: So we'll miss that, will miss his playmaking ability obviously,
- 2:24Speaker 2: you know, and we have to step up. We'll shuffle
- 2:26Speaker 2: our lines around. Ty Krci I'll come back into a
- 2:29Speaker 2: lineup provide us with his element, which is physicality, which
- 2:33Speaker 2: isn't a bad thing here over the next three games
- 2:35Speaker 2: against big hockey teams, they're all.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Big and looking at Vegas, I mean, they've struggled in
- 2:40Speaker 1: recent games, but at the end of the day, they're
- 2:41Speaker 1: still Vegas. They still lead the division. What are the
- 2:43Speaker 1: crack cand going to have to overcome here tonight? What
- 2:45Speaker 1: do they present?
- 2:47Speaker 2: Well, they're just a solid team from top to bottom.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Good defensively, you know they're underlying numbers and expected and
- 2:55Speaker 2: all that are good. You know, they can score clearly,
- 2:59Speaker 2: the plays good at fifth in the league, or penalty
- 3:02Speaker 2: kill is good at tenth in the league. And they've
- 3:05Speaker 2: got you know, they've got world class players. When you
- 3:09Speaker 2: look at Mitch Marner, I coached them. I watch them
- 3:12Speaker 2: Toronto definitely misses them, and Vegas is reaping the rewards
- 3:16Speaker 2: of him. And you add, you know, Keel to the mix,
- 3:20Speaker 2: and Stone and Hurtle and big hockey team, big hockey
- 3:24Speaker 2: team that goes to the Nethart, We're going to be
- 3:26Speaker 2: in for a war tonight, especially around the paint.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Every game in this league is important, But when you
- 3:32Speaker 1: look at the schedule coming up, you've got three games
- 3:34Speaker 1: in division, all four point swings, all against teams that
- 3:38Speaker 1: either are above you or that are battling you for
- 3:40Speaker 1: a playoff spot. Do you put any more significance on
- 3:44Speaker 1: these next three games, especially going into a much needed break.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I mean, obviously we know the magnitude of the games,
- 3:51Speaker 2: but we prepare for each game the same way, whether
- 3:56Speaker 2: it's like I say, the Toronto maple leafs or the
- 3:59Speaker 2: Vegas goal the nights. So you know, at the end
- 4:03Speaker 2: of the day, we prepare our utmost for every game.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Nothing changes, you know, the magnitude of the outcome is
- 4:11Speaker 2: the one thing that does change. So you know, we're
- 4:14Speaker 2: looking to finish off this stretch here and this three
- 4:19Speaker 2: dame road trip. We're looking to take it one period
- 4:21Speaker 2: at a time, one shift at a time, and that's
- 4:23Speaker 2: all we can do
