- 0:00Hello. I defeated the drill at the outer wall.
- 0:04But stuff still happened. So what's up? A lot.
- 0:11I'm going to do things a little differently today.
- 0:14The first segment of this is just going to be
- 0:16dedicated to trying to cover the state of the
- 0:19situation in the states, the state of the states,
- 0:23the state state. I want to say upfront, it's
- 0:26not great. It's just not. And I wish I had better
- 0:29words, and I'm going to do what I can to give
- 0:32a glimmer of hope. But here we go. Let's start
- 0:35off by talking about Kilmar Abrego Garcia. This
- 0:37name has come up a whole bunch of times in this
- 0:40series. Very brief recap, Kilmar was mistakenly,
- 0:43in air quotes, deported to CICOT, the torture
- 0:47prison in El Salvador. He had been living in
- 0:50the States for years, has a wife, child, wasn't
- 0:53supposed to be deported, wasn't supposed to be
- 0:55deported to El Salvador especially. but was deported
- 0:58to El Salvador. At which time the US government
- 1:00was adamant that he was out of their jurisdiction
- 1:03and there was no way they could possibly bring
- 1:04him back. So he was brought back and the DOJ
- 1:07hit him with human trafficking charges based
- 1:09on a traffic stop that resulted in a simple warning
- 1:12for an expired license from 2022. They did not
- 1:15dig into this until after there was already a
- 1:17media firestorm about them fucking up and deporting
- 1:20him by accident. And the traffic stop was literally
- 1:22just for speeding and the cop said you have a
- 1:25lot of people in your car. And that's what they're
- 1:27using for the basis of charging a man with human
- 1:29trafficking. So at time of recording, which is
- 1:32Saturday the... What day is it? The 24th. At
- 1:36time of recording, he's been released. Hey, Future
- 1:38Endeavorance here. Since recording this, he's
- 1:42now back in ICE custody. They required him to
- 1:44come turn himself back in. Because reasons, okay?
- 1:48He finally went back home to his family and his
- 1:51son, and now he's being informed that they're
- 1:53gonna try to deport him to Uganda. Yes, the United
- 1:56States went after this man and said, hey, we're
- 2:00going to cut you a deal. We'll deport you to
- 2:02Costa Rica if you plead guilty to human trafficking
- 2:05charges. Presumably trying to give him some kind
- 2:08of a plea deal that makes them look good for
- 2:11this. But he didn't take it. And there is a court
- 2:15order that he's allowed to make a case against
- 2:17his deportation. And so now they're trying to
- 2:20punish him by deporting him to a completely different
- 2:22continent than before. This man has not been
- 2:24found guilty of a crime. She hasn't. A little
- 2:27bit of an added bonus, Kristi Noem, when finding
- 2:29out that he was going to be released from jail
- 2:31at the request of a judge, blasted the judge,
- 2:34getting all upset and calling them an activist
- 2:36judge, a liberal from Maryland that just wants
- 2:39to get the spotlight. The judge that released
- 2:42him is from Tennessee. But literally nothing
- 2:44matters, as evidenced by this next section. Because
- 2:48on the topic of deportations, you've probably
- 2:50heard of Alligator Alcatraz, which is the nickname
- 2:53that they've given the concentration camp in
- 2:55Florida, as well as possibly the Speedway Slammer,
- 2:59another one in Indiana. So first, there's a court
- 3:02order from a judge that requires that the Florida
- 3:04concentration camp that they call Alligator Alcatraz
- 3:06must be shut down. That order is already being
- 3:10ignored. Essentially what's going on is there's
- 3:12a court case that argues that this facility is
- 3:15detrimental to the environment that it's in,
- 3:17which is the Everglades. The government threw
- 3:19this facility together in basically no time at
- 3:21all, and so there was no environmental impact
- 3:23report or anything like that, and so on those
- 3:25grounds, the judge was like, you gotta stop.
- 3:27It's not the human rights violations or the horrific
- 3:30conditions there, it's the environmental stuff,
- 3:32which is important too, but hey, maybe let's
- 3:35care about people. So DeSantis has already said
- 3:37that he's not going to be deterred by that judge
- 3:41and they're going to fight that in court. I have
- 3:44my doubts that it's going away. And now there's
- 3:47another one we're adding to the list, because
- 3:49apparently naming concentration camps is just
- 3:51so much fun. We got to give them all good brand
- 3:53names, because that's what this administration
- 3:56is all about. So say hello to the Lone Star Lockup,
- 3:59a brand new concentration camp in Texas, except
- 4:02it's not really all that new. It's at Fort Bliss,
- 4:05which was previously used to detain Japanese
- 4:09Americans during the World War II internment.
- 4:11So hey, at least we've got pedigree there. We've
- 4:13got the books which go back and learn from history.
- 4:16Here's how we can infringe on rights. Oh great,
- 4:18wonderful. Now I want to be clear. I've had a
- 4:20few people try to use their Judaism to argue
- 4:24that calling these things concentration camps
- 4:26is insulting to Jews. I want to address that.
- 4:30I'm quoting Jewish researchers in referring to
- 4:34these as concentration camps. Jewish people don't
- 4:36have a monopoly on determining what is and is
- 4:39not a concentration camp. That there are more
- 4:42than just the one instance in history. Obviously,
- 4:46we should be careful about not downplaying the
- 4:48Holocaust. That is not what's happening here,
- 4:50though. What's happening here is identifying
- 4:52that our current tax dollars are going towards
- 4:54facilities that violate human rights. One last
- 4:58thing about the migration stuff, the State Department
- 5:00has now said that they're going to review all
- 5:0255 million active visas. They're going to be
- 5:06looking through social media profiles and ensuring
- 5:08that you aren't dissenting against the United
- 5:10States. Which is basically what the foundation
- 5:13of our country is all about. Popping over to
- 5:15the Supreme Court, our favorite current institution,
- 5:19they have ruled that the Trump administration
- 5:20can cut $800 million of medical research. Now
- 5:24$800 million of medical research being cut sounds
- 5:26like a lot. until you recall that the Trump administration
- 5:29has actually slashed 12 billion dollars of medical
- 5:33research funds. This was specifically targeting
- 5:35a chunk of those funds that were being held up
- 5:37in court because they were being appealed. Because
- 5:40what are we doing? Why are we getting rid of
- 5:43medical research grants? This is not a partisan
- 5:45thing. I don't know when this became a partisan
- 5:48thing. We need to study illness so that we can
- 5:52make cures for sick. But because they hate universities
- 5:57and have been spending decades labeling them
- 5:59as, like, liberal indoctrination sites, they're
- 6:02trying to punish them by getting rid of research
- 6:04grants, which just hurts everyone. I'm tired
- 6:07of people who aren't experts asserting that the
- 6:12experts shouldn't be listened to because they
- 6:14have a bias. That bias being knowledge of the
- 6:17subject. Anyway, this is all still just this
- 6:20week. Let's keep going. Alina Habba! I've never
- 6:23actually looked up how to pronounce her name,
- 6:24and I don't care enough. So we're gonna say Habba.
- 6:27Hababa. So she's a former lawyer of Trump's,
- 6:29and was appointed to a position of interim federal
- 6:32prosecutor for New Jersey. She's been in that
- 6:35position for months, despite having no prosecutorial
- 6:37experience whatsoever, and people are like, why
- 6:40is this happening? After getting the appointment,
- 6:42she proudly said that she was looking forward
- 6:44to turning New Jersey red. Which is not a thing
- 6:47a federal prosecutor does. Anyway, they tried
- 6:50to unseat her, and they kind of did. Again, she
- 6:52was appointed as an interim prosecutor, and her
- 6:55term was ending, and they were like, get this
- 6:57person out of here, let's put somebody competent
- 6:59here. But then the Justice Department got involved
- 7:01and undid that. Like, literally, the Attorney
- 7:04General was like, no, this specific person gets
- 7:06this specific job. But a judge had ruled that
- 7:09she had that position illegally. And so her decisions
- 7:12from that position should be overturned. But
- 7:14that judge's decision to overturn the decisions
- 7:17that she made is now on hold because the Justice
- 7:20Department is putting together an appeal to explain
- 7:23why this person with, again, no prosecutorial
- 7:26experience and only really was a former lawyer
- 7:29to Trump, should be a federal prosecutor for
- 7:32a state at all. Let's jump over to how we are
- 7:36now a socialist country. That's right, Donald
- 7:37Trump has finally embraced socialism, and Bernie
- 7:40Sanders is supporting him in this, as the United
- 7:43States now has a 10 % stake in Intel. Is that
- 7:46weird? Yep. Yep. The Republican Party has just
- 7:52screamed communism and socialism at literally
- 7:54everything. And while there's... Examples of
- 7:58state stakes in companies that aren't necessarily
- 8:02socialist or communist is not typically a thing
- 8:05that happens in free market capitalism, which
- 8:07is like their whole vibe. Now, there's some mixed
- 8:09reactions from the conservatives in this. Of
- 8:11course, the Magaside is like, this is great.
- 8:13This is so smart. Forty chess. But some other
- 8:15conservatives like Rand Paul are saying this
- 8:17is they're saying the thing. They're doing the
- 8:19meme saying it's socialism. As I said, Bernie
- 8:22Sanders is actually in support of this. What
- 8:23has essentially happened is Trump was taking
- 8:25money that was already penned to be a grant to
- 8:28Intel and instead reworked it and got some money
- 8:32from a different fund to purchase stock instead.
- 8:36In theory, that could mean returns on the investment
- 8:40that are like material, like just money returns.
- 8:43In actuality, it's probably not gonna do anything.
- 8:46This was supposed to just be a grant that goes
- 8:47to Intel, and while I'm not a huge fan of just
- 8:50giving billions upon billions of dollars to companies
- 8:53that have billions upon billions of dollars,
- 8:56I think that money could maybe go towards, I
- 8:58don't know, feeding people? Housing people? But
- 9:01it's also also still a non -voting stake in the
- 9:03company. So like... The United States just owns
- 9:0610 % of a company and can't do anything with
- 9:09that, because. Not to mention, like, literally
- 9:11just a couple weeks ago Trump was harassing the
- 9:13CEO of Intel and saying that he should resign,
- 9:16and then now this is happening. But let's leave
- 9:18the theoretical world and go back into the real
- 9:21world, where there's military in the streets.
- 9:24God, I am just, this is just, it's so all over
- 9:26the place. Thousands of deployed National Guard
- 9:29are patrolling the streets of DC. There are still
- 9:31hundreds of them in Los Angeles. It is now coming
- 9:34out that the Trump administration plans to send
- 9:36the Guard into 19 more states, most of which
- 9:39are Republican controlled states, so presumably
- 9:41he's doing that so that they don't push back
- 9:43on him or even cooperate with him. The National
- 9:46Guard that is going to be going to these 19 states
- 9:47will technically be operating under the state,
- 9:50but they're given permission to... further federal
- 9:53causes. So it's technically a stop hitting yourself,
- 9:57stop hitting yourself kind of situation. But
- 9:59additionally, the Washington Post reported that
- 10:01the Pentagon has been drafting plans for deploying
- 10:03the military to Chicago, which is wild. Chicago
- 10:07is another one of those cities that the Republicans
- 10:09love to rail on, primarily because there's a
- 10:11lot of black people there. They'll never actually
- 10:13admit that, but they use dog whistles like saying
- 10:15that it's overrun with violence and gangs. Look
- 10:18no further than how frequently they love to quote
- 10:21statistics around like race and incarceration
- 10:23rates. That's what the dog whistle about crime
- 10:27comes from. To be clear, they want to deploy
- 10:29the National Guard to places that did not vote
- 10:31for Trump. DC did not vote for Trump and does
- 10:34not want that. And his response to that is they
- 10:37don't get a say in what they want. The mayors
- 10:39of these cities are pointing to the fact that
- 10:41their policies to address crime are working.
- 10:45Crimes dropping in Chicago and Baltimore and
- 10:48DC. But I shouldn't even waste breath making
- 10:51that argument because it's not about that. It's
- 10:53not about the crime. It's not about the optics.
- 10:55They don't care. They're just saying words to
- 10:58give ammo to people to allow this to happen.
- 11:01A large contingent of people who are supporting
- 11:04this just take everything that Trump says at
- 11:08face value. And when he contradicts himself,
- 11:11they take what he said more recently, or what
- 11:13he said that was more palatable, at face value.
- 11:16That's true for all of his officials. Like, Hegseth
- 11:18can go retweet posts saying that women shouldn't
- 11:22have the right to vote. But because he didn't
- 11:24go on national television and say the words,
- 11:27I think women shouldn't have the right to vote,
- 11:30They don't believe that's the case. So it's not
- 11:32about making sense. It's not about making a legal
- 11:34argument for this to happen It's not about anything
- 11:36except for giving red meat to their base by way
- 11:39of deploying the military To the places that
- 11:42they've been told are overrun with liberals Imagine
- 11:45if the actual problem was just that it was overrun
- 11:47with liberals I mean it kind of is like you want
- 11:50to go get a breakfast sandwich But the only thing
- 11:51you can find is like a an $18 like brioche breakfast
- 11:56sandwich thing That is the problem with liberals
- 11:58ruining our cities. I want my breakfast sandwich
- 12:00to kill me. Okay, I think I was just trying to
- 12:03give myself a little bit of a break there vis
- 12:04-a -vis breakfast sandwiches. Let's keep going.
- 12:08Gerrymandered. You've probably been aware of
- 12:10Texas's effort to redraw their district map and
- 12:13gerrymander it really severely for Republicans.
- 12:16I want to talk real quick about what gerrymandering
- 12:18is, especially for people who are not from the
- 12:19states. Real quick. In the United States, we
- 12:22have districts. Each district has a representative.
- 12:24Those representatives go to Congress. The districts
- 12:27are drawn on a map by the states, like the state
- 12:31legislatures. So politicians are the ones that
- 12:33are choosing the districts. And it is legal for
- 12:36them to craft districts that favor certain demographics.
- 12:41As long as a court doesn't rule it to be racist
- 12:43and unconstitutional, as long as they can sneak
- 12:46it by, they can draw whatever the fuck map they
- 12:48want. That is what's happening in Texas. Texas
- 12:51has more Democrats than Republicans. You probably
- 12:54think of Texas as a deep red state, largely because
- 12:58of gerrymandering. Now, both parties do this,
- 13:00but the reason that this Texas situation is so
- 13:02outlandish is because this is not a time where
- 13:05redistricting usually happens. We do a census
- 13:08every 10 years on the zero, and usually that's
- 13:11when the redistricting happens. But there's nothing
- 13:13legally stopping that. Which is another example
- 13:15of just how fragile the United States' systems
- 13:17are. Like, we put so much emphasis on, just be
- 13:21chill about it, dog. But they're not being chill.
- 13:23And they passed a redistricted map that is, ah,
- 13:27boring. It completely obliterates representation
- 13:29for Hispanic and Black people in Texas at large.
- 13:32And it adds five additional safe red seats to
- 13:36the state. And so the response to that has been
- 13:38that California's governor Gavin Newsom has been
- 13:41threatening to redistrict California as a retaliation
- 13:43against Texas's redistricting. And that takes
- 13:46more effort because California has extra steps
- 13:48that it has to jump through before they can actually
- 13:50do a redistricting. So where we're at right now
- 13:52is for anyone who's talking about how there's
- 13:54never going to be elections again, they are currently
- 13:56fighting to try to make it so that they win the
- 13:58next election. So I think we can use that as
- 14:01a reason why we should expect there to be elections.
- 14:03But what they're doing is trying to make it so
- 14:05that the election won't do anything. The Republicans
- 14:07are at risk of losing their majority in the House,
- 14:10possibly in the Senate. And if that happens,
- 14:13Trump's term is effectively over. So they're
- 14:15doing everything they can to make sure that the
- 14:16House cannot be taken by Democrats by changing
- 14:19the literal game. Should we have gerrymandering?
- 14:22No, right? Like, it's bad. Yeah, obviously. The
- 14:26best thing to do would be to have every state
- 14:28not do this. But that's not the world we live
- 14:31in, that's not the situation, and calling for
- 14:33decency in the face of one party literally changing
- 14:36the game is how you lose. I'm not a Democrat,
- 14:40but I can't fault them for doing what they're
- 14:42doing right now. It's the right political move.
- 14:45Alright, almost done with state stuff. Truly
- 14:48just an unbelievable amount of bullshit, and
- 14:49I skip stuff. Sock the Epstein files! We still
- 14:53don't have the full unredacted Epstein files,
- 14:56which is a thing that a lot of people in Trump's
- 14:57periphery were talking very loudly about delivering
- 15:01once they were in office. Of course, that tune
- 15:03changed. They were like, oh, there are no, there's
- 15:06no, there's no list. And stop asking. Most recently,
- 15:10there has been released audio of an interview
- 15:12with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's girlfriend
- 15:15slash human trafficking associate, in which she
- 15:17said there is no black book, like there is no
- 15:19list of clients. She also said that she never
- 15:21saw Trump do anything inappropriate. Very trustworthy
- 15:24statement from a very trustworthy person. Now,
- 15:27we knew that there was not going to be an actual
- 15:29list. This is not a movie. There's not a little
- 15:31black book that says all of these people are
- 15:34child rapists. But we also know that it's not
- 15:36like nothing went down there. So it would be
- 15:39pretty fucking nice to not be completely lied
- 15:42to for just a second to see anyone ever face
- 15:46some kind of consequences for the molestation
- 15:49of children. For the enterprise of the molestation
- 15:52of children. But the Republican -controlled House
- 15:55Oversight Committee now has a small subset of
- 15:58pages from the Epstein files, like 3 % of them,
- 16:01and they're going over them and will make a decision
- 16:03on what to release, if anything. I'm not holding
- 16:06my breath. Okay. I'm so thirsty. One sec. Okay.
- 16:12I'm gonna end this section by saying I know things
- 16:14are bleak. I know things are rough right now.
- 16:17Trust me, I have to sift through this stuff,
- 16:20figure out what I can even include. I have to
- 16:22trace things as they're developing over time.
- 16:25I know there's a lot going on right now. I know
- 16:28it feels like we are careening towards the end,
- 16:29but I want to say this. This will pass. That
- 16:34doesn't mean it's gonna pass. effortlessly. That
- 16:36doesn't mean that we're going to be completely
- 16:38fine on the other side of it. That doesn't even
- 16:40mean that we're all going to survive this. But
- 16:43this will pass. Trump is dying. Like, he doesn't
- 16:47take an expert. You can look at his face and
- 16:48see that he is dying. And whether it happens
- 16:51tomorrow, in a couple of weeks, or in a couple
- 16:53of years, the man's not long for this work. And
- 16:56while a lot of people rightfully say that Trump
- 16:59going away won't fix our problems, won't end
- 17:01all of this, I do want to note Do you really
- 17:04think JD Vance has what it takes to take over
- 17:07the MAGA throne? I see people online say that
- 17:10they would vote for him, but I also see people
- 17:12online say the dumbest imaginable shit every
- 17:16day. The fervor, the deification is all specifically
- 17:20Trump. And while, yeah, him getting out of office
- 17:23by way of leaving this mortal coil is not going
- 17:26to solve the fundamental problems of the United
- 17:28States of America, at least we won't have to
- 17:31deal with the fallout of him making an assumption
- 17:34about some dumb bullshit he doesn't understand,
- 17:37and everyone in his periphery falling over themselves
- 17:40to make that happen. There's a lot of things
- 17:42that industry leaders are doing right now, that
- 17:44they're trying to butter him up, they're trying
- 17:46to stay on his good side. There are things that
- 17:48he is doing that they are really not into, and
- 17:51they're just kind of biding their time until
- 17:52they can push back when he's gone, because they
- 17:54don't want to piss him off by contradicting him
- 17:57right now. Okay, let's take a breather, because
- 17:59I need a breather. stretch, you know? And hey,
- 18:04maybe a great way for you to relax would be to
- 18:06head to isupport .dev, where you can find links
- 18:09to my Patreon, my Ko -Fi, my YouTube memberships,
- 18:13and you can support me. Anyone supporting me
- 18:15across any of those platforms gets access to
- 18:16behind -the -scenes content, bonus content, and
- 18:19early access to playtests of the tabletop role
- 18:22-playing game that I've been designing called
- 18:23Presenia. You can learn all about all of that
- 18:26at isupport .dev. Thank you. Elsewhere, over
- 18:30in the UK, they've been arresting people for
- 18:32t -shirts. Fashion police. Except it's not fashion
- 18:35police. It's, um, they don't want people expressing
- 18:38support for Palestine. Cops in the UK have been
- 18:41arresting people for wearing shirts that support
- 18:43Palestine Action, which is a group that has been
- 18:46deemed a terrorist organization by the UK. So
- 18:49wearing their shirt amounts to supporting a terrorist
- 18:51organization, apparently, enough to just arrest
- 18:54people who are otherwise just sitting in protest.
- 18:57Like quite literally, these protests are as peaceful
- 18:59as they get. People sitting silently on the ground
- 19:02wearing a shirt and holding a sign and they're
- 19:05being arrested. There's even footage of like
- 19:07an 80 year old woman being arrested. Now, that's
- 19:10awful. And it's especially awful because right
- 19:12now the famine is official. in Gaza. International
- 19:16experts have now formally declared it a famine.
- 19:19That's happening. And yet they're so focused
- 19:22on trying to arrest people for simply wearing
- 19:24a shirt in favor of freeing Palestine that they
- 19:27accidentally arrested a guy who was wearing a
- 19:29slightly different shirt. Miles Pickering, a
- 19:33visionary, designed a shirt that says Plasticine
- 19:36Action. The shirt is an anti -AI and animating
- 19:39shirt. Plasticine. Action, but cops saw that
- 19:43and they were like, ah and arrested him and then
- 19:46a few minutes later They're like, oh, it doesn't
- 19:48say Palestine action. So we can't actually arrest
- 19:51you which begs the question If all of these people
- 19:54who are currently arrested had like one letter
- 19:57different on their shirt would they not have
- 20:00been? What are we even doing anymore? I'll tell
- 20:03you what we're doing. We are sharing the East
- 20:05blue all the way to Indonesia In Indonesia, there
- 20:09has been a protest that started with students
- 20:11and has just been growing and growing ever since,
- 20:14and it is represented by the flying of the Monkey
- 20:17D. Luffy Jolly Roger from One Piece. So the government
- 20:20of Indonesia is not super popular right now,
- 20:23and when they cut 25 % of funding to higher education,
- 20:27students were like, what in the fuck? They formed
- 20:29a protest movement called Dark Indonesia, and
- 20:32they started to fly the Luffy flag. This picked
- 20:34up steam and it has just kind of become a symbol
- 20:37for general resistance and a movement towards
- 20:39something new for Indonesia. The government of
- 20:42Indonesia made this specifically worse for themselves
- 20:44by saying that this flag was like a national
- 20:46security threat and implying that people were
- 20:49being paid to do this. Where have I heard that
- 20:52before? Anyway, that just made them fly the flag
- 20:56more. So well done. Solidarity. I hope that you
- 21:00get a better life. I hope we do too. Yee -haw.
- 21:06I ate the, um, the yap -yap fruit. It gave me
- 21:10the power to yap. Moving on. Technology! A little
- 21:14while back, I talked about an effort from the
- 21:16UK demanding Apple to essentially create a security
- 21:20backdoor for the UK government to access encrypted
- 21:23data. Apple is actually kind of pretty good at
- 21:26data privacy. Like, not perfect. Far from it.
- 21:30But from the big carriers, they actually give
- 21:32you a lot of tools to do full end -to -end encryption.
- 21:35One of those tools is to fully end -to -end encrypt
- 21:38all of your files in iCloud, which makes it so
- 21:40that only you can access the files. Apple has
- 21:43data stored on their servers, but it's unintelligible
- 21:46gobbledygook. So even if a government came in
- 21:49and said, give us the files, Apple couldn't do
- 21:51anything. They're like, here's a bunch of garbage.
- 21:54The only way that garbage can be read is with
- 21:56the key that's in your computer. But the UK didn't
- 21:59want that. They didn't like that. Stop it, is
- 22:03what they said. And Apple said no. But recently,
- 22:05they dropped that request and are no longer asking
- 22:08Apple to do that because Apple was like, no,
- 22:11we'll just pull out of your market. This is not
- 22:14the first time that a government has asked Apple
- 22:16to break their own security. And the US did this
- 22:18infamously. They once had the FBI harass Apple
- 22:21to open someone's iPhone. They had a suspect's
- 22:24iPhone and they were like, we can't open it.
- 22:26We can't unlock it. Apple, you need to make it
- 22:27so that we can unlock this so that we can get
- 22:29the evidence out of it. And Apple was like, no,
- 22:31we're not going to give you a back door into
- 22:34our devices. Governments have a weird relationship
- 22:37with encryption. They're always like, encryption
- 22:39is important. And all these foreign nations that
- 22:42are impeding on their citizens' privacy are bad.
- 22:45Anyway, stop using encryption. Over in Mississippi,
- 22:48you are not able to access Blue Sky through their
- 22:50primary app. Mississippi is one of the several
- 22:52states that has recently passed an ID verification
- 22:54law for online access to content that could be
- 22:58potentially dangerous to minors. But the specifics
- 23:01of the Mississippi law make it so that Blue Sky
- 23:04doesn't even want to bother. Because Blue Sky
- 23:07can have porn on it in theory, they would have
- 23:10to verify the identity of everyone using their
- 23:13platform. And they're not going to do that. It's
- 23:16expensive and dangerous and it's being challenged
- 23:17in court, so it might not even be a thing that
- 23:19they have to do for a very long time anyway.
- 23:21In the meantime, they've just blocked access
- 23:23entirely for the state of Mississippi. I want
- 23:26to say again one more time, because apparently
- 23:28I'm not saying it loud enough. This is not the
- 23:32tech policy that we're asking for. Please, please
- 23:35stop. Please stop making me give you my ID to
- 23:40look at memes. Oh, also, uh, Grok. A few weeks
- 23:44ago, I talked about how ChatGPT had a bunch of
- 23:46conversations leaked onto the internet, and now
- 23:48it's happening for Grok. Grok, which is Elon
- 23:51Musk's AI, has an option to share conversations.
- 23:54When you do that, it creates a link. Those links
- 23:57to those conversations were then indexed by Google.
- 24:00So you could literally search, like, Grok conversation
- 24:03and find private conversations that people made
- 24:06a link to share to one other person, unknowingly
- 24:09putting it on the public internet. So that's
- 24:11neat. You can just Google someone's private conversation
- 24:14with a chatbot. It's truly bizarre how frequently
- 24:17these apps are just being busted. Like, I've
- 24:20never heard of so many frequent instances of
- 24:23just like, oh yeah, user data is just out there,
- 24:27unsecured. It's almost like we're moving too
- 24:30fast and breaking too many things. Lightning
- 24:33round! Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida,
- 24:35ordered the removal of a rainbow crosswalk that
- 24:38was made in memoriam of the people who died at
- 24:40the Pulse nightclub shooting. This is done because
- 24:43of hate, and locals have already repainted the
- 24:46crosswalk. The Cambridge Dictionary has added
- 24:48words such as skibbidi and delulu in the most
- 24:51recent edition. I want to be clear, that's fine.
- 24:54I don't care. That's fine with me. Words change.
- 24:56Words are made up. If you're pressed about that,
- 24:59you're delulu. James Dobson, a chief architect
- 25:02of the modern evangelical movement in the US,
- 25:05beefed it. He did. The CEO of Target has stepped
- 25:09down as Target is facing a bunch of financial
- 25:11issues because everyone's boycotting them. Everyone.
- 25:15And finally, for today, archaeologists and skateboarders
- 25:17will be working together to excavate an old skate
- 25:21park in Scotland. To be clear, it's not like
- 25:23an ancient... Skate park that would be so rad.
- 25:27Oh my god Imagine you're like at a dig site and
- 25:30you just you take your little sweepy thingy and
- 25:33you start sweeping away And it's a fucking half
- 25:35-pipe awesome rad cool Thank you so much for
- 25:39listening to today's episode of stuff keeps happening
- 25:41head to skh .news for sources bonus content and
- 25:46a skate park from Scotland that I put there That's
- 25:53unexcavated My name is Enderence, we'll talk
- 25:55again soon, take care, and be well.
