- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome into Off the Bench. Ooh, you're scary. We're bringing
- 0:07Speaker 1: you the spookiest sports talk in town. With Jacob Hester
- 0:13Speaker 1: and Matt Lynn.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Terrifying and terrible.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Live from the haunted Raising Cane's studio, here's Jacob Hester
- 0:22Speaker 1: and Matt Lynn.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Welcome in OTV here on this Thursday morning. Yesterday felt
- 0:52Speaker 3: like Thursday all day long and so I had to
- 0:55Speaker 3: check the watch. I didn't get a text from Flynn
- 0:57Speaker 3: saying something about Rouse's so I knew it wasn't Friday.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Yeah bro, you've been a little discombobulated this week.
- 1:04Speaker 3: How's that?
- 1:06Speaker 2: That's kind of crazy, man.
- 1:08Speaker 3: A little tired. A little discombobulated.
- 1:10Speaker 2: No, you know. You already know.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I have not one time said anything about being tired, sir.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Wow. Your actions speak so loud, I can't hear what
- 1:20Speaker 2: you're saying.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I don't think so.
- 1:23Speaker 2: It's what coaches say, though.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I mean, about me being tired. Actions do
- 1:29Speaker 3: speak really loud. They do. Yawns. Your eyes.
- 1:33Speaker 2: There's really nothing you can do about your eyes, either.
- 1:34Speaker 2: They give it away.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Like, right now, like, yep. You get some puffy eyes.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but every day, mine are puffy.
- 1:39Speaker 3: They really are.
- 1:40Speaker 2: They don't get un-puffy until about noon. If we did
- 1:43Speaker 2: the show at noon.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Electric?
- 1:45Speaker 2: You'd be like, this guy knows sports.
- 1:48Speaker 5: Is that when you hit your prime?
- 1:49Speaker 2: Yeah. At noon? And I don't really mispronounce words after noon.
- 1:54Speaker 5: We would never know.
- 1:55Speaker 6: Yeah, I was about to say, it's a shame we
- 1:57Speaker 6: don't have evidence of this.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:59Speaker 2: You can take my word for it.
- 2:03Speaker 3: I do talk to you a lot through text after noon.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Well, that's the autocorrect.
- 2:10Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I got you. I got you. Got a lot of
- 2:15Speaker 3: work done yesterday?
- 2:16Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yesterday. Yesterday.
- 2:20Speaker 3: You stink.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yesterday was busy.
- 2:23Speaker 3: It was busy.
- 2:23Speaker 5: It was today.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Everybody's busy, you know?
- 2:27Speaker 5: We can leave yesterday in the past.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yeah. It's true.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Well, we got no choice.
- 2:32Speaker 5: I'm being profound.
- 2:33Speaker 2: We got no choice but to leave it in the past.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:37Speaker 4: It was a good day. I mean, there was nothing bad. No, like,
- 2:39Speaker 4: high stress, high anything.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Just busy, man. Just busy.
- 2:43Speaker 4: That's what happens when the kids are at fall break.
- 2:46Speaker 4: They demand that you don't go to your office for
- 2:48Speaker 4: two days.
- 2:51Speaker 3: They actually were calling you to go to the club yesterday.
- 2:53Speaker 6: We did your club.
- 2:54Speaker 2: They wanted me to come eat lunch with them. And
- 2:57Speaker 2: you know what? When my little girls call me, bat
- 3:00Speaker 2: their eyes, and say please, I got no defenses.
- 3:05Speaker 6: Problem is, Matt, they've clearly picked up on this. Like,
- 3:10Speaker 6: you've given zero resistance. Yeah, and I'm okay with that, honestly.
- 3:14Speaker 6: You guys get it. Now my son.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Poor Huck. Jeez.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Toughen up, kid.
- 3:22Speaker 3: The oldest. I know.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Gotta toughen him up.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I mean, he's the heir to the throne.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Mr. Harlow over there.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 3:33Speaker 4: Uh-huh.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Golly.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Last time you told her no.
- 3:39Speaker 3: June 21st, 2023. Because she wasn't born yet. The next day.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 3:48Speaker 3: The next day. I knew. I'd already had four chances
- 3:51Speaker 3: at it. I knew.
- 3:54Speaker 5: It's crazy. My dad had no issues telling me no.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Not a single issue.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Oh. You got a younger sister, though.
- 4:03Speaker 5: I do.
- 4:04Speaker 7: Hmm.
- 4:05Speaker 3: That's the thing. Once the dust is settled. I know.
- 4:09Speaker 7: I took all the heat for her. I really took
- 4:11Speaker 7: one for the team for maybe my entire family.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Katie's the oldest one in the family. She's the same way.
- 4:16Speaker 3: I was. What a leader. Natural born.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Natural born.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Born into it. It is wild. And it works with
- 4:25Speaker 3: every family, basically. Katie had to be home at 10
- 4:30Speaker 3: on the weekends. If we went and saw a 725 movie,
- 4:32Speaker 3: it was risky. We were going to have to, there
- 4:36Speaker 3: wasn't no staying for any. You were hoping there wasn't
- 4:38Speaker 3: that many previews before. There was nothing of that. And
- 4:41Speaker 3: she lived across town from the one theater we had
- 4:43Speaker 3: in Shreveport. So I was like, you got to book it. Oh, yeah. Right?
- 4:46Speaker 3: And she was, you know, 17, 18, right? Her youngest sister,
- 4:52Speaker 3: because she's the oldest of five, moved to California at
- 4:54Speaker 3: the same age by herself. You know what I mean? Like,
- 4:59Speaker 3: that's how far it kind of falls.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 7: I'm not really, like, a horoscope person or the Enneagram stuff.
- 5:05Speaker 5: Like, I don't buy into that. Birth order, it hit, like,
- 5:08Speaker 5: every single time. Or, like, single child or whatever.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Only child.
- 5:13Speaker 5: Only child. Like, all of that stuff is so true,
- 5:17Speaker 5: I find, in my life.
- 5:18Speaker 3: I find more times than not.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It definitely is. You're the youngest. Yeah. You had a
- 5:23Speaker 3: bigger family. You probably got away with much more than
- 5:26Speaker 3: your older siblings.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, for sure.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Oh, I got away with so much more. But I
- 5:31Speaker 4: didn't really take advantage of it.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Just stay alive.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I didn't take advantage of that. I was kind
- 5:37Speaker 2: of a goody-goody.
- 5:39Speaker 5: I can see that.
- 5:39Speaker 2: See, I got it.
- 5:40Speaker 3: So that's why you act like you did in college.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I act like it. I was awesome. Yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 3: No, you were a great time.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:48Speaker 3: You weren't a goody-goody.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I was a closer. I was a closer. When it
- 5:51Speaker 2: came to recruiting, you know?
- 5:54Speaker 6: I got it worse in two ways because, like, I
- 5:56Speaker 6: was– the middle child and the oldest son. So like
- 6:01Speaker 6: my sister, you know, she was the oldest, but they
- 6:03Speaker 6: never made her do anything. So like I was the
- 6:06Speaker 6: de facto oldest without any of the benefits. It just wasn't.
- 6:09Speaker 5: So I feel like it worked different for me.
- 6:11Speaker 7: Like I was the middle child or I'm the middle child,
- 6:14Speaker 7: but I have an older brother, but they're, they just
- 6:16Speaker 7: let my older brother do whatever he wanted. Cause he
- 6:18Speaker 7: was the boy, like, but he was a boy and
- 6:21Speaker 7: I was a girl. So like, that was like, they
- 6:23Speaker 7: didn't let the girl do cause she's a girl.
- 6:25Speaker 5: Like, I don't know.
- 6:26Speaker 8: Right.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I'm thinking about my oldest is a boy,
- 6:29Speaker 4: then girl, girl.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Might do the same. Probably do the same.
- 6:37Speaker 5: For sure.
- 6:39Speaker 7: But my sister was so far away from us that
- 6:41Speaker 7: my parents just, like, by the time she came around,
- 6:44Speaker 7: I wore them out.
- 6:45Speaker 3: They're like, oh, hell. We are good.
- 6:48Speaker 4: It is funny that, like, you'll, and I know a
- 6:50Speaker 4: lot of it's algorithm, but, like, you'll scroll in on Instagram.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Or whatever it is, and they're like, little videos of parents.
- 6:57Speaker 4: I'll make like clips of the personalities of like every
- 7:01Speaker 4: person's first, second and third child. And I'm like, yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 4: that's actually right. My third one is feral. But amazing
- 7:14Speaker 4: and loving and awesome.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 5: My sister was feral.
- 7:20Speaker 2: It's great. It's great stuff.
- 7:21Speaker 5: She was crazy.
- 7:22Speaker 3: My third is a little man. We call him Jimmy
- 7:24Speaker 3: Swagger sometimes because you've got to check yourself around him.
- 7:28Speaker 3: He's going to pull something on you.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Would you use the word feral?
- 7:35Speaker 3: I would say savvy. Savvy? Savvy is how I describe Huddy, yeah.
- 7:42Speaker 3: He might take you into a pyramid scheme by the
- 7:44Speaker 3: end of the night.
- 7:44Speaker 2: He lives ABC life?
- 7:45Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, for sure.
- 7:48Speaker 5: Always be closing.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Always be closing. For sure.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Always be closing. No matter what. Whether it's a juice
- 7:52Speaker 2: box or a pyramid scheme.
- 7:53Speaker 7: You might not know that you just closed, though. I
- 7:56Speaker 7: think that's what Jim's trying to get at.
- 7:57Speaker 3: That's what I'm trying to get at. You don't know
- 7:59Speaker 3: that you signed the document, but you signed it. But
- 8:01Speaker 3: you got it somewhere. But you got it.
- 8:03Speaker 5: You know how many report cards you probably signed?
- 8:04Speaker 3: Oh, my God. All of them.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Yeah, my friend wants you to sign this card for him. Mm-hmm.
- 8:11Speaker 2: It's got to be on this piece of paper.
- 8:12Speaker 3: That's actually good.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Huck, if you're listening, you can get your daddy on that.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Funny autograph story.
- 8:25Speaker 8: Oh?
- 8:26Speaker 2: I think I might have told you this one before.
- 8:28Speaker 4: When I was a rookie in Green Bay, players, they
- 8:31Speaker 4: always need to get stuff signed from other guys on
- 8:34Speaker 4: the team.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Like, hey, I got this charity or whatever. This is
- 8:36Speaker 2: for a friend of mine. Like, whatever it is.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Hey, can you sign this? Or a lot of times it's,
- 8:40Speaker 4: can we get the team to sign? Well, Johnny Jolly
- 8:43Speaker 4: was a defensive lineman for us. I remember him, yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Good player.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Funny guy. The big sins with Jolly.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Very happy.
- 8:51Speaker 5: You got to be.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Got to be.
- 8:54Speaker 4: So I'm in the locker room. I think it's training camp.
- 8:57Speaker 4: And this has been, you know, I've signed a decent
- 8:59Speaker 4: amount of things. Like, hey, we're getting the team to
- 9:01Speaker 4: sign this or this poster, this helmet, this jersey, whatever
- 9:03Speaker 4: it is. And so it's pretty standard center procedure. Well,
- 9:08Speaker 4: this is like in the depths of the first training camp.
- 9:10Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 9:11Speaker 2: And so I'm there. I'm a seventh round pick.
- 9:14Speaker 3: I'm a quarterback.
- 9:14Speaker 4: I was a second quarterback pick. And there was a
- 9:16Speaker 4: second round pick, Brian Brom from Louisville, who was there
- 9:19Speaker 4: as well. And of course, we are competing against each
- 9:22Speaker 4: other for a backup spot.
- 9:26Speaker 2: And okay. So cool.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Well, Johnny Jolly comes up to me. It's just like
- 9:30Speaker 4: normal as anything. He's like, hey man, can you sign
- 9:32Speaker 4: this helmet?
- 9:32Speaker 2: I'm getting everybody to sign it for charity.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I'll sign the helmet. He's like, just put it right
- 9:37Speaker 2: there on the side. I'm like, alright. Boom. And I
- 9:40Speaker 2: sign it.
- 9:41Speaker 4: And The next thing I notice is where I practice,
- 9:44Speaker 4: and Brian Braum's helmet has my signature on it.
- 9:50Speaker 2: He just took Brian's helmet and got me to sign it. Oh, no.
- 9:53Speaker 5: That's so funny.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I was like, oh, boy. Of course, he's not taking
- 9:57Speaker 2: credit for it. He's like, what'd you sign his helmet for?
- 10:00Speaker 5: Dude?
- 10:00Speaker 2: I'm like, I swear to God.
- 10:02Speaker 3: He was older. He was a vet at that point.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I wonder if this Jolly, who just got drafted this year,
- 10:11Speaker 3: last year, tied in from NC State. Maybe. I'll look
- 10:15Speaker 3: that up.
- 10:16Speaker 2: That's actually a really good prank, though. That was a
- 10:18Speaker 2: good prank. It was the first time I'd seen it.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Everybody did it a little bit different. Chargers, they had
- 10:23Speaker 3: like a table of like, hey, this is for charity, auctions, for,
- 10:28Speaker 3: you know, whatever, family members. And as you walk by,
- 10:31Speaker 3: you just, you know, sign whatever. In Denver, they would
- 10:37Speaker 3: take a bucket of, you know, those like white panel
- 10:40Speaker 3: balls that you're supposed to sign. Well, it would take
- 10:43Speaker 3: like a lot like those big laundry buckets. They would
- 10:46Speaker 3: take them and they would just you'd sit in your locker.
- 10:49Speaker 3: They dedicate 15, 20 minutes to it. And then our
- 10:52Speaker 3: equipment manager would push that the bucket into the room
- 10:55Speaker 3: and then you'd pass the ball like an assembly line
- 10:58Speaker 3: and then put it back in the bucket and everybody
- 11:00Speaker 3: would sign it. And there'd be, you know, 50 balls
- 11:03Speaker 3: in there.
- 11:03Speaker 2: And like, right.
- 11:04Speaker 3: If you need one for your charity, for an auction
- 11:05Speaker 3: or whatever, you know, come check one out basically like
- 11:08Speaker 3: the library, like sign your name. You got one. Then
- 11:12Speaker 3: here's your ball. It's actually pretty efficient.
- 11:14Speaker 2: That is efficient.
- 11:15Speaker 3: And that way everybody kind of gets one or two
- 11:18Speaker 3: or whatever, and everybody signs it. You don't have to, hey, Gates,
- 11:22Speaker 3: can you hit that ball for me over there? Which
- 11:25Speaker 3: is awkward. Even if it's your boy.
- 11:29Speaker 2: No opportunities there.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Hey, Mr. LT, sir, can you please send that ball
- 11:32Speaker 3: over there?
- 11:33Speaker 8: Mr.
- 11:33Speaker 5: LT, sir.
- 11:35Speaker 3: L-train. No, don't do that. Big dog.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Big dog.
- 11:39Speaker 3: What up, big dog?
- 11:40Speaker 2: Need to sign.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Who's it for?
- 11:41Speaker 2: It's for me.
- 11:42Speaker 6: You should make it out to me.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah, just make it out to me.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I probably should have done something like that.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I mean, seriously. A lot of these guys know.
- 11:52Speaker 4: I think I saw something like Aaron Rodgers was drafted
- 11:56Speaker 4: in 20, like a day, 2005. And I think they're
- 12:01Speaker 4: playing the Bucs this weekend, I believe. And Jalen Daniels
- 12:06Speaker 4: was born like on the same date or something like that,
- 12:10Speaker 4: or close to the same date. 2003 or something like that.
- 12:13Speaker 4: So he was like two years old when Aaron was drafted.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Are you old, bro? He's so old, dude.
- 12:21Speaker 3: You ever seen the videos? He's older than us.
- 12:24Speaker 6: It was when Brady was with the Bucs. So like,
- 12:27Speaker 6: I mean, he's 44 at this point. A guy on
- 12:30Speaker 6: the opposing team shakes his head. He goes, my daddy
- 12:32Speaker 6: used to catch passes from you. Tom's like, great.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Cool, man. Don't remember him. I had so many.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I feel like Tom's pretty good in situations like that.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I bet he is.
- 12:45Speaker 3: I bet he's real good. There's some that would be.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Kind of turds.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Not him. The list of turds would be Jay Cutler.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Top five turds.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Jay Cutler.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Start a list. Start a list. Top five turds.
- 13:03Speaker 3: I gave you number one.
- 13:05Speaker 2: That's number one already? Jay? Yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Bad body language Jay?
- 13:10Speaker 5: I can fix him.
- 13:12Speaker 2: You can fix him. You can fix him.
- 13:15Speaker 3: You can mold him. You can, uh, you can write
- 13:18Speaker 3: his wrongs.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 6: All right.
- 13:20Speaker 5: Kristen Cavallari couldn't, but.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Rip some heaters with him.
- 13:24Speaker 3: God does love a heater.
- 13:25Speaker 7: Oh.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Oh, who else would be on there? That would be
- 13:27Speaker 4: a fun list to make. Who, like, we should do
- 13:29Speaker 4: a top five turds who we think are turds. We
- 13:32Speaker 4: have no clue. We've never met them, but just based
- 13:34Speaker 4: on their face.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Face.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Face and how they talk to.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Between the hashes, you know.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that'd be fun.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I like that. Um, Before we take our first break,
- 13:43Speaker 2: I got a big, big, big announcement.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Wow.
- 13:46Speaker 2: I got a Chris Marla type announcement to make.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Oh, well, that means it's not going to be underwhelming.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 13:52Speaker 7: I'm on the edge of my seat right now.
- 13:55Speaker 3: I know.
- 13:57Speaker 4: I have a relationship status update.
- 14:01Speaker 5: Okay, with George?
- 14:03Speaker 2: My relationship right now is pretty complicated.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Oof.
- 14:07Speaker 5: I hate to see it.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Me and George Paul Thomas.
- 14:09Speaker 5: You'll hide it out?
- 14:11Speaker 4: You make a couple mistakes, fine. But you embarrass me
- 14:14Speaker 4: in front of my friends one too many times with
- 14:17Speaker 4: these bad slides on these quarterback rankings. I have to
- 14:20Speaker 4: start looking around. I got to start playing the field
- 14:23Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Did you go to Claude?
- 14:26Speaker 4: Last night, 9.34 p.m., downloaded Claude.
- 14:32Speaker 5: I can't believe you're cheating on George right now. It's
- 14:35Speaker 5: another AI.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I mean, don't give me a reason to. You know
- 14:39Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 14:39Speaker 3: That's fair.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Don't give me a reason to step on out on you.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Multiple reasons.
- 14:42Speaker 4: So, I mean, if we were classifying my relationship status
- 14:47Speaker 4: right now with artificial intelligence.
- 14:49Speaker 2: It would be complicated.
- 14:50Speaker 5: It's very complicated.
- 14:52Speaker 4: We are going to take Claude out on a date.
- 14:54Speaker 3: All right. You're not switching right now on Facebook to Claude.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Not completely switching. No, we're not. What I'm saying is
- 15:03Speaker 2: I'm not exclusive.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I got you.
- 15:04Speaker 2: I'm not exclusive.
- 15:05Speaker 6: We'll see how this morning dates.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I'm going to test some waters. I'm available. But it's complicated.
- 15:13Speaker 5: This is like The Bachelor, but for AIs.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yep.
- 15:16Speaker 4: What a society we live in. I went and signed
- 15:18Speaker 4: up for Claude. And guess what? I signed up for
- 15:20Speaker 4: the pro.
- 15:21Speaker 5: You paid for Claude?
- 15:22Speaker 2: I didn't pay for the year, though. Guess what? We're
- 15:24Speaker 2: going month to month.
- 15:26Speaker 4: All right.
- 15:26Speaker 3: I like that.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Nothing long term. Nothing long term.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Two AI services can't have money. Jeez.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Well, guess what?
- 15:34Speaker 3: I told you.
- 15:34Speaker 5: George Paul Thomas. So in the hole right now.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Huh?
- 15:39Speaker 5: Foxhole Entertainment is so in the hole right now.
- 15:42Speaker 4: But you embarrassed me in front of my friends one
- 15:46Speaker 4: too many times, George Paul Thomas.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I got upset with you. So I'm going on a
- 15:51Speaker 2: date today, this morning, from 7 to 10.
- 15:54Speaker 5: During the QB rankings?
- 15:55Speaker 2: During the QB rankings. Matt's over here.
- 15:57Speaker 6: Just balancing two different men on a Thursday morning.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Artificial peoples.
- 16:03Speaker 5: I guess commitment means nothing these days.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Can I tell you something? Yeah.
- 16:07Speaker 3: You already are.
- 16:08Speaker 4: I loaded in my QB rankings from last week into Claude.
- 16:12Speaker 5: Okay.
- 16:14Speaker 2: First thing it said. I've noticed some mistakes.
- 16:16Speaker 5: Ooh. I see some toxic traits. Claude's getting spicy.
- 16:20Speaker 3: First one.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I see some mistakes. First one, Kirk Cousins doesn't play
- 16:25Speaker 2: for the Vikings anymore.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Dang.
- 16:27Speaker 6: I'm liking this Claude guy. You need to take this
- 16:29Speaker 6: Claude guy home, meet the parents.
- 16:32Speaker 5: Weird that they're both men names.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Anyways.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Anyways.
- 16:37Speaker 6: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You're balancing two different minutes
- 16:40Speaker 6: on a Thursday for some random.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Fairness.
- 16:43Speaker 4: I did give George Paul Thomas his name.
- 16:45Speaker 3: You did.
- 16:45Speaker 5: It's true.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Still doesn't change the fact.
- 16:49Speaker 5: Yes.
- 16:50Speaker 6: I was like, Matt's choosing.
- 16:52Speaker 3: All right. Now I get why your eyes are puffy.
- 16:54Speaker 3: All right, we'll take our first break of the show.
- 16:55Speaker 3: More OCB when we come back.

- 18:57Speaker 7: If I could cry a little harder and get.
- 19:03Speaker 4: A little less.
- 19:05Speaker 3: All right, welcome back at OTB here on this Thursday morning.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Getting ready for the weekend, LSU going to be hosting
- 19:16Speaker 3: Mississippi State. The New Orleans Saints traveling to take on
- 19:20Speaker 3: the New York football giants. Matt, do you know why
- 19:24Speaker 3: they call them the New York football giants? Um.
- 19:30Speaker 2: The New York football giants. That's pretty obvious.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Well, I mean... Yeah, but do you know why they
- 19:36Speaker 3: say it? Because they don't say the New Orleans football saints.
- 19:42Speaker 8: Um.
- 19:43Speaker 4: I'm assuming there was maybe another team in New York
- 19:46Speaker 4: called the Giants at a certain point.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Which one would that be?
- 19:50Speaker 2: The baseball team?
- 19:52Speaker 3: Who now plays in? San Francisco. We got you there, buddy.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Bro, that was easy.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Yeah, you said it was such confidence. San Francisco? Yeah,
- 20:02Speaker 3: that's why they call them that. Yeah, they were the
- 20:04Speaker 3: New York Giants and now the San Francisco Giants.
- 20:05Speaker 2: They're the New York baseball Giants.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Probably. I'm sure that's what they called them.
- 20:11Speaker 4: I just thought at some point somebody said it at
- 20:13Speaker 4: some point on the TV broadcast, and it just caught on.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I didn't know the Giants played in New York.
- 20:21Speaker 6: In fairness to you, you would think that moniker would
- 20:25Speaker 6: go away. They haven't been in New York in.
- 20:27Speaker 4: A long time. When it was coined, was it more
- 20:31Speaker 4: like New York football Giants?
- 20:34Speaker 3: Probably.
- 20:34Speaker 5: It might be the one that you default to.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Like the.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:43Speaker 3: You dirty rat.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:45Speaker 3: You're my brother.
- 20:46Speaker 5: We have Curly.
- 20:48Speaker 3: No doubt Curly was playing.
- 20:50Speaker 4: Looks like these boys getting into a Donnybrook idea.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Curly Magnum around the pass. That's what the Saints got
- 21:02Speaker 3: this weekend.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 21:04Speaker 3: They got their third quarterback? No, they do not. Gail
- 21:08Speaker 3: Benson's comments yesterday obviously carry a lot of weight. Yeah.
- 21:20Speaker 3: And a lot's been made of what she said. And
- 21:25Speaker 3: I think the Mickey Loomis portion of it is probably
- 21:27Speaker 3: the thing that people are not like they're noticing it.
- 21:32Speaker 3: They're harping on it. They're talking about it because like,
- 21:35Speaker 3: we just don't ever really hear Mickey Loomis his name.
- 21:39Speaker 3: said in a negative light because we all talk about it. Like,
- 21:41Speaker 3: he's got such standing with the franchise. He's been there
- 21:45Speaker 3: for over 20 years as a general manager. And I
- 21:48Speaker 3: think that's the thing that people are like, oh, man, yeah,
- 21:50Speaker 3: that means something.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Yeah, he's been what's seemingly, and I think what's frustrated
- 21:57Speaker 4: Saints fans for, you know, at times, I mean, maybe
- 21:59Speaker 4: not 100% of the time, all the time, every single year, but, like,
- 22:03Speaker 4: at times when the team hasn't done well or there's
- 22:05Speaker 4: been a bad draft or a bad signing or whatever
- 22:06Speaker 4: it is, I think that's probably what frustrated fans a
- 22:10Speaker 4: lot is that he, that somebody, and it's not just
- 22:14Speaker 4: like him personally, but like that somebody in the organization
- 22:16Speaker 4: that's making decisions is untouchable. What has felt like untouchable.
- 22:20Speaker 3: So, right.
- 22:21Speaker 4: This, these statements that come from Gail Benson certainly seem
- 22:25Speaker 4: like she should, like they, they are pointed towards everybody,
- 22:29Speaker 4: but I think like in the back of everybody's mind,
- 22:31Speaker 4: it's like, man, I hope she's talking to everybody. I
- 22:35Speaker 4: hope that, It's not just like talking to some people
- 22:37Speaker 4: because there's some people that are untouchable. Like you want
- 22:40Speaker 4: to hold everybody that works for you. That has a
- 22:42Speaker 4: hand in the success of a team, a team that
- 22:46Speaker 4: the city loves. Um, you want everybody to be held
- 22:51Speaker 4: accountable and you want everybody to be held to the
- 22:53Speaker 4: same standard.
- 22:54Speaker 2: And that's what you have to do as a leader.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Life isn't fair. There's some people that might, you know,
- 23:01Speaker 4: get a couple more passes. There's some people that might, um,
- 23:05Speaker 4: get a little bit longer leash because of, you know,
- 23:08Speaker 4: maybe success they've had in the past or maybe a
- 23:10Speaker 4: relationship or whatever that is. And we get that life's
- 23:13Speaker 4: not always fair, but at some point as a leader,
- 23:18Speaker 4: you have to hold everybody to the same standard.
- 23:22Speaker 3: And no matter how much success that you have had, that,
- 23:26Speaker 3: you know, that resets.
- 23:27Speaker 2: What's it been 20 years?
- 23:28Speaker 3: It resets.
- 23:28Speaker 2: How long has it been the gym?
- 23:31Speaker 3: Was it? Oh, was it? Early 2000s. I mean, it's
- 23:33Speaker 3: been over 20 years.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Who's the longest tenured GM to ever be a GM?
- 23:39Speaker 2: Not currently.
- 23:40Speaker 3: I mean, you got a new friend that you could technically.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Take this baby for.
- 23:45Speaker 2: A test drive?
- 23:45Speaker 7: Right.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 23:47Speaker 3: So, you know, I don't know what that year is
- 23:50Speaker 3: as far as, like, how long it takes to reset. Like,
- 23:52Speaker 3: if a coach wins a Super Bowl, okay, how long
- 23:53Speaker 3: does that buy you? If a GM wins a Super Bowl,
- 23:55Speaker 3: how long does that buy you? If a GM hits
- 23:57Speaker 3: on a draft class, how long does that buy you?
- 24:00Speaker 3: It's different within every single organization, but as we mentioned
- 24:04Speaker 3: yesterday in Gail Benson's comments, they haven't made the playoffs
- 24:07Speaker 3: since 2020. They haven't made the playoffs since Drew Brees
- 24:09Speaker 3: and Sean Payton haven't been there. Those are things that
- 24:14Speaker 3: the ownership has noticed, but they're really starting to talk
- 24:18Speaker 3: out loud and make it known that they've noticed.
- 24:20Speaker 6: You guys ready for this? Mickey Loomis became GM of
- 24:23Speaker 6: the Saints May of 2002.
- 24:24Speaker 7: Whoa.
- 24:25Speaker 6: Whoa.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Whoa.
- 24:30Speaker 2: That was the same month. Wait a minute. May of 2002.
- 24:38Speaker 2: I was a junior in high school. Huh. That was
- 24:45Speaker 2: a year before my prom.
- 24:52Speaker 6: So, if you take out Jerry Jones and Mike Brown...
- 24:58Speaker 6: Who were de facto GMs and owners.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:01Speaker 6: Like Jerry's the longest tenured GM. He's done it since 89,
- 25:04Speaker 6: like when he bought the team. Mike Brown, same thing.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:08Speaker 6: Since 91, it is Mickey Loomis.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. There's no doubt about it. And, I mean,
- 25:14Speaker 3: to the point, a lot of people are like, I mean,
- 25:17Speaker 3: Mickey feels like the owner. That's always been said. And look,
- 25:20Speaker 3: I've said it, we've all said it. Everybody that's covered
- 25:21Speaker 3: the Saints kind of talks about it. But again, I
- 25:24Speaker 3: think it's big when the owner says a name. And
- 25:27Speaker 3: I know Nick Underhill has covered this too, and that's
- 25:31Speaker 3: the only team that he covers. And I was watching
- 25:33Speaker 3: something he did last night too, and that's kind of
- 25:35Speaker 3: what he was harping on. He's like, we've had a
- 25:38Speaker 3: lot of conversations, and we've never really heard his name
- 25:41Speaker 3: said in a negative light or called out or put
- 25:43Speaker 3: on notice a little bit.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 4: So he's never been held to the same standard. I'm
- 25:48Speaker 4: not saying that if– Well, I.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Think because they just– I mean, Matt, they had no success.
- 25:53Speaker 3: They had one playoff– victory with a coach not named
- 25:56Speaker 3: Sean Payton, like we talked about yesterday. And when Mickey
- 26:00Speaker 3: takes over, I think they had won in the franchise history.
- 26:06Speaker 3: And so then you have this success, certainly better than
- 26:09Speaker 3: you ever had, and you win a Super Bowl. Now,
- 26:11Speaker 3: that Super Bowl was 17 years ago. It's been a minute.
- 26:15Speaker 3: But also you had this success that New Orleans has
- 26:19Speaker 3: never had that, not even close. I mean, like the
- 26:22Speaker 3: Dome Patrol was so much fun, but they never won
- 26:24Speaker 3: a playoff game. Aaron Brooks' era was fun. They won
- 26:28Speaker 3: one playoff game. You were like, oh, my God, this
- 26:32Speaker 3: is incredible. You can play football after the regular season?
- 26:35Speaker 3: Didn't know that was possible. And so when you have that,
- 26:38Speaker 3: we talk about building up equity. Well, they built up
- 26:41Speaker 3: so much, and now it's finally running out five and
- 26:46Speaker 3: a half years into not making the postseason.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and.
- 26:52Speaker 4: Again, everybody's got to be held to the same standards.
- 26:55Speaker 4: And some people might get more time to reach that standard.
- 27:01Speaker 2: May 12, 2002. That's a long time. That's pretty long.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Hey, you want to take this baby for a test
- 27:06Speaker 4: drive real quick?
- 27:07Speaker 3: Yep.
- 27:07Speaker 2: All right.
- 27:08Speaker 3: What is it, Claude?
- 27:09Speaker 2: Yeah, let's just take Claude for a little test drive.
- 27:11Speaker 3: It's funny, you know, because Bayou Automotive, bayouautomotive.com, it's right here.
- 27:17Speaker 3: I mean, it's like the good Lord wrote this script
- 27:20Speaker 3: for us right on the sheet.
- 27:22Speaker 7: True.
- 27:22Speaker 3: That's what we're talking about next. bayouautomotive.com. Laplace, Louisiana. You
- 27:27Speaker 3: want to make a quick drive down to Laplace, Louisiana,
- 27:29Speaker 3: you can buy your new vehicle there. You can do
- 27:31Speaker 3: it online at bayouautomotive.com. If you're into Black Widows, those
- 27:34Speaker 3: are cool. Even for a 41-year-old dad, you can be cool. Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep,
- 27:40Speaker 3: and Ram, a little bit of everything down there in Laplace, Louisiana.
- 27:42Speaker 3: They'll deliver your vehicle to you in the capital city.
- 27:44Speaker 3: That's right. If you buy it on the website, they
- 27:46Speaker 3: will deliver it to your doorstep, to your work, wherever
- 27:49Speaker 3: you want it delivered in the capital city. They have
- 27:51Speaker 3: got you covered. Go to bayouautomotive.com, and let's take it
- 27:54Speaker 3: for a test drive.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Let's do tickets for chess. So I went back to 1960.
- 27:56Speaker 4: I said, what's the longest, what GMs have had the
- 27:59Speaker 4: longest tenure in NFL history, dating back to 1960. And,
- 28:03Speaker 4: of course, like Taylor said, the three longest are owners,
- 28:07Speaker 4: Al Davis, 1963 to 2011, Jerry Jones, 1989 to present,
- 28:11Speaker 4: Mike Brown still since 1991. But among the non-owners, Mickey Loomis,
- 28:17Speaker 4: I think four years ago, passed Kevin Colbert. He was
- 28:23Speaker 4: with the Steelers since 2000, stepped down after 22 years.
- 28:27Speaker 4: So he was there, but multiple Super Bowls, kind of
- 28:30Speaker 4: the same deal, like had a lot of success and
- 28:32Speaker 4: kind of, hmm, towards the end. Non-owner of GMs, Tex Schramm, Cowboys,
- 28:38Speaker 4: when the Cowboys were founded all the way until Jones
- 28:41Speaker 4: bought them in 89.
- 28:42Speaker 2: So how about that? The Cowboys have had two GMs
- 28:44Speaker 2: in the history.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Right.
- 28:46Speaker 6: Like Tex Schramm, not even technically the longest Cowboys. It's
- 28:50Speaker 6: in your GM.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Technically, yep. And so he's at 28. He was at
- 28:54Speaker 4: 29 years. He was the GM from the founding of
- 28:57Speaker 4: the Cowboys all the way until Jerry Jones bought it.
- 29:00Speaker 4: And number two on the list for non-owners, Mickey Loomis. Oh,
- 29:02Speaker 4: Mickey could catch him, dude.
- 29:05Speaker 2: But should he?
- 29:07Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 29:07Speaker 2: That's the question.
- 29:08Speaker 5: He should not.
- 29:09Speaker 3: I don't know. They better flip the script. Because, and look,
- 29:13Speaker 3: Mickey's done great things. Like, I don't want this to
- 29:15Speaker 3: be an all like, oh, what are we doing?
- 29:18Speaker 4: It's easy to like, hey, people love to hate just
- 29:21Speaker 4: because of.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Yes, look, there's been a lot of decisions that he's
- 29:26Speaker 3: been the person to make the decision that has turned
- 29:28Speaker 3: into a winning culture for the Saints in that window
- 29:30Speaker 3: of that 15-year, 16-year run. Some of those draft classes,
- 29:35Speaker 3: we still talk about them and how many players they
- 29:38Speaker 3: got and how many ended up being all pros. But
- 29:41Speaker 3: when you don't make the playoffs in five years, going
- 29:44Speaker 3: into what looks like going to be a sixth year,
- 29:47Speaker 3: and then we went over the draft class a couple
- 29:49Speaker 3: times over the last couple of weeks, and basically, right now,
- 29:52Speaker 3: none of them are on the field. I mean, your
- 29:56Speaker 3: first-round pick, no. Your second-round pick, a little bit, some.
- 30:00Speaker 3: and he was a healthy scratch two weeks ago, we
- 30:03Speaker 3: can go down the list. And Oscar Delp's probably the
- 30:04Speaker 3: one that plays the most, and he's one of your
- 30:06Speaker 3: lowest rated players on offense. I was going to say,
- 30:08Speaker 3: not well. Yeah, we could go down the list. You
- 30:11Speaker 3: know how it is. When that starts to happen, Matt,
- 30:14Speaker 3: and your draft classes don't start to produce, that's when
- 30:17Speaker 3: a GM starts to get a little bit of the
- 30:20Speaker 3: conversation going. And then you sign a free agent running
- 30:24Speaker 3: back to a big deal, and he's been hurt, but
- 30:27Speaker 3: it hasn't been effective. All those things start to pile up.
- 30:31Speaker 4: Well, I know the Saints fan base, the Saints organization,
- 30:34Speaker 4: feels like the Packers did in the tenure where Aaron
- 30:37Speaker 4: Rodgers was there. You got one Super Bowl with a
- 30:42Speaker 4: really good head coach-quarterback combination, but you feel like that
- 30:45Speaker 4: time was a little bit of a disappointment because you
- 30:48Speaker 4: never got the second one. So they never surrounded... Aaron
- 30:53Speaker 4: had some good teams, just lost in some.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Same with the Saints. So I can feel for.
- 31:01Speaker 4: The history of the saints in that timeframe with drew breeze,
- 31:04Speaker 4: because like you only, you got.
- 31:05Speaker 2: One, which was amazing.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:07Speaker 4: But it is kind of a disappointment because you never
- 31:09Speaker 4: got another one during that time.
- 31:10Speaker 2: And it was a long tenure. So you had all
- 31:12Speaker 2: this time. Saints were founded in 1966.
- 31:15Speaker 4: And just like you said yesterday, which was shocking to me,
- 31:21Speaker 4: they've won one playoff game as a saints organization without
- 31:25Speaker 4: Sean Payton as a head coach. And now he's had
- 31:28Speaker 4: two hires.
- 31:29Speaker 3: And that was in the early 2000s, Matt. So it
- 31:32Speaker 3: took like a minute. It took some time to get
- 31:36Speaker 3: that one postseason victory.
- 31:39Speaker 4: So, you know, I don't know. Everything's got a time
- 31:42Speaker 4: limit on it. And I just hope, based on Gail's words,
- 31:46Speaker 4: that at some point you've got to hold everybody to
- 31:49Speaker 4: the same standard.
- 31:53Speaker 3: All right. Let's take a break. More OTB when we
- 31:56Speaker 3: come back here live from the Raising Cane Studio.

- 32:27Speaker 3: and years ago. And you're like, I want to change it.
- 32:29Speaker 3: I want to upgrade it a little bit. They can
- 32:30Speaker 3: do that as well. Go check out all that information
- 32:32Speaker 3: on their website. That's Russell pools.com. That's right.

- 33:10Speaker 8: When the sun goes down on my side of town
- 33:15Speaker 8: That lonesome feeling comes to my door and the whole
- 33:20Speaker 8: world turns blue.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Tigers turn talkers. This is Off the Bench.
- 33:29Speaker 5: Run down bar.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Across the railroad track.
- 33:33Speaker 8: I got a table for two.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Way in the back.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Where I sit alone.
- 33:40Speaker 1: And think of losing you.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Chats with Brooks and Dunn. Came to the Cajun Dome
- 33:48Speaker 3: last week. Old Huddy Paul was there. Went over to
- 33:56Speaker 3: Lafayette on a school night.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Nice.
- 33:58Speaker 3: It's like, it's Brooks and Dunn. Oh, yeah, sure. I mean.
- 34:02Speaker 6: What was his takeaway?
- 34:04Speaker 3: Oh, he loves it. He loves Brooks and Dunn. Yeah,
- 34:07Speaker 3: he's my 90s country listener.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Were they boot scooting around that stage a little bit?
- 34:13Speaker 3: He didn't say.
- 34:14Speaker 7: No.
- 34:14Speaker 3: No.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I saw him a couple years ago.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:17Speaker 6: Kicks does a little bit. Still, Ronnie's more.
- 34:21Speaker 3: He said Ronnie took a couple of vocal breaks. They
- 34:26Speaker 3: made it known, like, hey, Ronnie's going to sit this
- 34:27Speaker 3: one out. Kicks got it. Oh, dude.
- 34:30Speaker 6: Kicks, like, he still performs. We saw him a few
- 34:32Speaker 6: years ago in Shreveport.
- 34:34Speaker 4: He's from Shreveport. More like boot scootering around the stage
- 34:39Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 34:45Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Ronnie.
- 34:50Speaker 4: No, I saw them two years ago, and it was
- 34:52Speaker 4: kind of the same deal, but they.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Were absolutely electric.
- 34:57Speaker 4: I didn't introduce, but the kids don't really love it
- 35:00Speaker 4: when we're in the car and I play my music.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Yeah. They want to play their music.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:05Speaker 4: You know, their eight songs. We played Brooks and Dunn.
- 35:12Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:14Speaker 2: They didn't love it, but they didn't complain.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Feels like a small victory.
- 35:19Speaker 2: That was a big win. That was a big one.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:21Speaker 2: That was a big one.
- 35:23Speaker 5: I love this part. Hit me with the steel guitar.
- 35:37Speaker 2: That's good stuff.
- 35:38Speaker 3: All right. We just had a Saints conversation. Not really
- 35:42Speaker 3: about the game. We'll get there. More about where the
- 35:48Speaker 3: organization is right now. It is going to be very
- 35:52Speaker 3: interesting to see what they do. If Nick says something
- 35:57Speaker 3: because he is so tied in, when he says something like, hey,
- 36:00Speaker 3: if they go 0-2, I don't know. My antennas go up,
- 36:04Speaker 3: and I'm like, hmm, okay. Let's pay attention to that. Now,
- 36:08Speaker 3: they are a favorite on the road, y'all. Against a
- 36:11Speaker 3: 3-1-1 football team.
- 36:12Speaker 6: People aren't respecting the fact that Jameis is in there.
- 36:16Speaker 6: They're expecting him to fall back.
- 36:18Speaker 3: That's fine, but say what you want about Jameis. We're
- 36:23Speaker 3: not talking about Cooper Rush here. We're not talking about
- 36:29Speaker 3: Jake Browning here. I understand the Jameis experience. We've been
- 36:34Speaker 3: through it. I get it. He was the number one
- 36:37Speaker 3: overall pick.
- 36:39Speaker 2: In your division.
- 36:40Speaker 3: He has a season with 30 touchdown passes. I mean, so, look,
- 36:46Speaker 3: you can get 500 yards from Jameis this weekend. You
- 36:48Speaker 3: can get five. You said that yesterday, Matt. For sure.
- 36:52Speaker 3: We get it. But it seems to be a favorite
- 36:55Speaker 3: on the road against a three-win football team. What are
- 36:58Speaker 3: they seeing that we're not seeing right now?
- 37:00Speaker 2: They probably know the running game is probably just a
- 37:02Speaker 2: sleeping giant.
- 37:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:05Speaker 3: They're one play away.
- 37:06Speaker 2: One play. At least one block here. One right mic
- 37:09Speaker 2: declaration there.
- 37:11Speaker 3: They would just declare the mic right.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. They just got to get their mic declarations better.
- 37:17Speaker 2: That's it.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Get their counts better. Yeah, no, that doesn't make any
- 37:22Speaker 4: sense to me. But Vegas does some weird things sometimes.
- 37:28Speaker 3: I know. And this one, because I'm thinking, I know
- 37:32Speaker 3: where the Giants are strong.
- 37:34Speaker 2: People are just going to be hammering the Giants.
- 37:37Speaker 3: No doubt.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Including your boy.
- 37:42Speaker 4: It's stinky, but some people like stinky cheese.
- 37:46Speaker 3: For me, my mind goes, okay, well, they're just going
- 37:50Speaker 3: to try to run Cam Scadaboo as much as they
- 37:52Speaker 3: can and then ask Jameis to make eight throws in
- 37:58Speaker 3: tight windows.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Right.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Because the Saints right now are actually better against the
- 38:02Speaker 3: pass than you probably realize. they're top 10 in the
- 38:05Speaker 3: NFL defensively against the pass, where they struggle against the run,
- 38:09Speaker 3: and they do give up explosives. Like, what they give
- 38:12Speaker 3: up in the pass game compared to what they give
- 38:14Speaker 3: up points per game, it doesn't match up. They're giving
- 38:18Speaker 3: up a lot of running yards, and they're giving up
- 38:22Speaker 3: explosives in the pass game. So it's not necessarily they're just, like,
- 38:25Speaker 3: getting torched for 330, but they're getting hit with the
- 38:28Speaker 3: big explosive plays that are scoring points. And that's one
- 38:32Speaker 3: of the things that they really have struggled with. And
- 38:34Speaker 3: so for the Giants, they're going to think, okay, well,
- 38:37Speaker 3: it's going to be a Cam Scadaboo game. Let's try
- 38:38Speaker 3: to shorten this game. Let's run him. They haven't been
- 38:41Speaker 3: grading and stopping the run. And then, hey, Jameis, heavy
- 38:43Speaker 3: play action. We're going to ask you to make eight throws, right,
- 38:46Speaker 3: eight throws to Malik Nabors, to Isaiah Likely, that are
- 38:49Speaker 3: going to win the game. He's going to throw it
- 38:50Speaker 3: more than eight times, but I'm talking about the eight
- 38:53Speaker 3: throws that decide the game.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Was Isaiah Likely, was he on the injury report? I
- 38:57Speaker 4: know he went out of the game last week when
- 38:59Speaker 4: I was watching.
- 39:00Speaker 6: Yeah, he's been bagged up for a few weeks, but
- 39:03Speaker 6: he's expected to play.
- 39:05Speaker 3: He had 11, right? He had 11 catches. You ain't
- 39:08Speaker 3: got nobody that can cover him. It's crazy to say.
- 39:13Speaker 4: It's crazy to hear the Saints top 10 in the
- 39:16Speaker 4: NFL at any big category like that because of the
- 39:19Speaker 4: record one and four and to say, wow, we've had
- 39:21Speaker 4: the top 10.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Pass defense.
- 39:24Speaker 4: And until this past week, we've had a top pass
- 39:26Speaker 4: offense in the... That's exactly where it is.
- 39:29Speaker 2: In the league?
- 39:32Speaker 4: Results certainly didn't feel that way. It dropped to 11
- 39:35Speaker 4: after this last week. It certainly doesn't feel that way.
- 39:38Speaker 4: It doesn't feel like they're 11th in any category. Passing
- 39:42Speaker 4: leading up to this past game just because you've kind
- 39:46Speaker 4: of had to throw it and Tyler's been You know,
- 39:48Speaker 4: had been very, very good. But I don't think Tyler
- 39:51Speaker 4: Shook's hands healing in a week.
- 39:54Speaker 7: No.
- 39:56Speaker 3: So they've given up, as I mentioned earlier, 212 through
- 39:59Speaker 3: the air. They give up 149 on the ground. That
- 40:03Speaker 3: number shouldn't be as close to each other as it is.
- 40:06Speaker 3: They give up 30 points per game. That's 31st in
- 40:12Speaker 3: the NFL.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Say that one more time.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Yeah, 30. 30 points per game, 31st in the NFL.
- 40:22Speaker 7: True.
- 40:24Speaker 2: That ain't good, bro.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Again, kind of like going back to it, typically when
- 40:30Speaker 3: you're around the top 10 in past defense in the NFL,
- 40:33Speaker 3: you don't see a number like that with points. They're
- 40:37Speaker 3: giving up so many explosives on defense.
- 40:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:47Speaker 3: And this team and the New York Giants, if they
- 40:49Speaker 3: play it right, they've got a recipe to attack exactly
- 40:54Speaker 3: what we're talking about.
- 40:54Speaker 4: And that's what Jameis is good at is explosive plays.
- 40:56Speaker 4: Like now you can, again, what Jameis Winston playing, you
- 40:59Speaker 4: never know what you're going to get. But if there
- 41:02Speaker 4: is something he's good at doing, he's going out there
- 41:05Speaker 4: and throwing for 300 plus with a bunch of explosive
- 41:09Speaker 4: plays because he's going to chunk it.
- 41:11Speaker 2: He's going to give you opportunities.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Like if you can catch him and you and your
- 41:16Speaker 4: defense plays and you can get him in one of
- 41:18Speaker 4: those games as one of the bad Jameis games, then
- 41:21Speaker 4: you can have a day. You can have three picks.
- 41:25Speaker 4: And a fumble.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Maybe two.
- 41:28Speaker 3: All right. New Orleans Saints. A favorite right now on
- 41:32Speaker 3: the road against the New York football Giants. What's that
- 41:35Speaker 3: line again? One and a half. Saints minus one and
- 41:39Speaker 3: a half.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Money line.
- 41:45Speaker 3: Probably plus one and five. Oh, okay. He's going to
- 41:51Speaker 3: try to put that in his college pontoon parlay. All right,
- 41:53Speaker 3: we'll take a break. More OTB when we come back.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Or go to TrashRangers.com. Residential commercial trash pickup service right
- 42:01Speaker 3: here in the Baton Rouge area. Now, remember, they can

- 42:15Speaker 3: and you need one, give them a call. Tell them
- 42:16Speaker 3: what you have. They're going to make sure they have
- 42:18Speaker 3: the right size dumpster on your project. Sanitation department, if
- 42:22Speaker 3: you need a portable restroom hosting an event, you got

- 42:55Speaker 4: local business with TrashRangers.com.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Locked in on LSU football 24-7. You're listening to Off
- 43:06Speaker 1: the Bench.
- 43:08Speaker 8: If you really want to know, she comes here a lot.
- 43:12Speaker 8: She just loves to hear the music and.
- 43:17Speaker 3: Dance.
- 43:18Speaker 8: K-13 is her favorite song.
- 43:21Speaker 3: If you play it, you might have a chance.
- 43:26Speaker 8: Tonight she's only sipping white wine. She's friendly and fun-loving
- 43:32Speaker 8: most of the time. But don't ask her on a
- 43:37Speaker 8: straight to keep the night. She'll start thinking about him.
- 43:41Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in, OTV. Inside the chat, who's
- 43:48Speaker 3: possibly worse at giving up points than the Saints, the Cardinals?
- 43:52Speaker 3: The Cardinals give up 32.4. The Saints give up 30.2.
- 43:55Speaker 3: It's close, though.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Tight race.
- 44:00Speaker 3: It doesn't make me feel any better. Man, it's going
- 44:10Speaker 3: to be a very important stretch. Very important stretch. And
- 44:15Speaker 3: it feels like the Saints really need to get this
- 44:17Speaker 3: one on Sunday. The Steelers are a tricky team. The
- 44:21Speaker 3: Steelers can show up, and they got enough Jimmys and
- 44:24Speaker 3: Joes that you go over there to Paris and you're
- 44:27Speaker 3: not prepared. They're tough, man. They'll punch you right in
- 44:29Speaker 3: the face.
- 44:30Speaker 2: The Steelers?
- 44:31Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh, Aaron ain't losing in Paris. I'm just sitting
- 44:34Speaker 3: there thinking about somebody trying to block Cam Hayward. That
- 44:39Speaker 3: guy's still a freak. We played against him in college,
- 44:42Speaker 3: and he's still playing like a freak.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 44:45Speaker 3: I know.
- 44:45Speaker 2: That Watt fella.
- 44:48Speaker 3: He's good, but. Cam in the interior, that makes me nervous.
- 44:52Speaker 3: That old interior pressure. Ain't a whole lot of places
- 44:55Speaker 3: you can go.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Just from watching the two play, I would take the
- 45:00Speaker 2: Steelers in that matchup right now.
- 45:04Speaker 3: So I think that's why this one's such a point
- 45:05Speaker 3: of emphasis. You got to find a way to get
- 45:07Speaker 3: this one on the road. And look, you're a favorite. Again,
- 45:10Speaker 3: we don't know why you are. We have no idea.
- 45:13Speaker 3: But you got to go and you have to get
- 45:15Speaker 3: this one because... You just don't know. When you go
- 45:18Speaker 3: long travel like that, too, crazy things can happen, we know,
- 45:21Speaker 3: but handling that, man. Injury report, Caden Ellis did not
- 45:29Speaker 3: participate yesterday. We'll see if Caden Ellis does anything today.
- 45:32Speaker 3: AK was limited in practice, no surprise there. Alave didn't
- 45:36Speaker 3: practice on Wednesday, but it was due to illness, so
- 45:39Speaker 3: I'm sure he'll be back for the weekend. So you've
- 45:42Speaker 3: got to get as many guys back as possible today.
- 45:46Speaker 3: for this game. Massive, massive game for the Saints. If
- 45:49Speaker 3: they lose this one, it is going to continue to
- 45:51Speaker 3: roll downhill, and I don't know where it ends. All right,
- 45:54Speaker 3: more OTB. We'll be coming back here live from the
- 45:56Speaker 3: Raising Cane Studio.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Off the bench.
