- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Today, I would like to talk to you about taking inventory of
- 0:35your time and figuring out what the heck distracts you.
- 0:40Because this is probably one of the toughest things that most
- 0:45people most families. Most clients everybody that I
- 0:49talk to talks about time in some manner, at some point in time.
- 0:54No pun intended there. This is a sensitive subject for
- 0:58everybody because time is something That we all have were
- 1:01all given it and it ends and some of us have a lot less time
- 1:06than others. And some of us have a lot more
- 1:08time than others and it is a daily occurrence where we feel
- 1:14like we don't have enough time. So where do you begin?
- 1:19When you're trying to figure this part of yourself out, like,
- 1:22you know, it's just, we run around telling to ourselves.
- 1:24I don't, I don't have enough time.
- 1:26How do you expect me to have the time to do that?
- 1:27Where am I going to find that time?
- 1:29We all have these Reactions to time that are intense that it's
- 1:33not just a little it's intense. And I know myself included I
- 1:36used to be that way and I had to really pull back the reins on
- 1:41myself and say okay what's the very first thing that I need to
- 1:44know in order to fix this? Well that's taken inventory of
- 1:48your time. Where is your time going?
- 1:50Where are you spending your time?
- 1:52What are you doing? That doesn't add value to your
- 1:56life and has become something that you use as a tool.
- 2:00To desensitize yourself. Where are you wasting time?
- 2:04Where you could leverage out to someone else?
- 2:07Where are you putting your time? That's most useful though.
- 2:11Don't just do it for the things that are on the negative side of
- 2:14stuff. Look at the positive sides to
- 2:17where are you spending your time?
- 2:18That is actually healthy. What are the things that are our
- 2:23healing? Your soul every day.
- 2:25What are the things that make you feel good?
- 2:26Doing them? And really take a full breath.
- 2:30Blown inventory of it. Now sometimes this exercise is
- 2:35really hard because will say, well, those are things I have to
- 2:39do, I have to do them and those take adjustments to your
- 2:44stories, like, you know, it's sometimes I tend to look at
- 2:49things and I'll go. Well, I have to do that.
- 2:52And then I'll stop. And I'll pause, and I'll go.
- 2:54No, I don't have to do that. I get to do that.
- 2:56Like, I actually, like doing laundry.
- 2:58I know this sounds insane but I like clean.
- 3:01I like daily chores but I've conditioned myself to not be
- 3:07annoyed by having daily chores partly because I like to do them
- 3:12and partly because I feel like that's my contribution back to
- 3:16my family so they don't bother me but some people, absolutely
- 3:20don't like them. Some people should try to
- 3:22leverage them out. Some people should let their
- 3:24kids do more things because we have this insane belief that we
- 3:28have to do everything for our kids and we don't and we should
- 3:32be giving them chores to do and we should be letting them learn
- 3:35how to care for themselves. And we should be letting them
- 3:38fold their clothes and put them away.
- 3:40Even though it's not right, which we will take up and other
- 3:43podcast. But right now, this is all about
- 3:47just taking the inventory of the time because you can't fix,
- 3:51what? You don't understand to a
- 3:53certain extent. Sometimes we don't have to
- 3:55understand it all to fix it because we can draw the line.
- 3:58But in this case with time we can really See where we are
- 4:02spending it when we have the inventory list, okay?
- 4:05So the exercise that I want you guys to go through as to really
- 4:10sit down and write out, where am I spending chunks of my time
- 4:15now? You'll be able to do this
- 4:16immediately. Just based on the fact that you
- 4:20have a an understanding of your daytime or your day, right?
- 4:25Your schedule for the day, you'll be able to look at it.
- 4:27But I'm talking about all the little time thieves that Are out
- 4:31there like getting lost on social media and someone will
- 4:34say, well that's just my guilty little pleasure.
- 4:36I love doing that and that's totally fine if you love doing
- 4:41it and it's not bringing you pain and it's not taking you
- 4:44away from other things that you could be doing, or should be
- 4:48doing, or want to be doing, then, it's not a big deal, but
- 4:52for most of us, it's more of a sickness.
- 4:56When we go down that road, and we go too much, so you allow
- 4:59yourself some time, but not Of time.
- 5:01You know, one of the great things that my grandparents were
- 5:04great at was always being on point with allowing yourself a
- 5:08certain amount of time to do it. I remember my grandmother
- 5:11sitting there and watching her stories, her soap operas, and
- 5:14she would say, well, no, I only do this in the afternoon and
- 5:17it's only for an hour and then I go and do other things.
- 5:20But I would see her also knitting, I would see her doing
- 5:25baking. I would see her doing other
- 5:26things that she enjoyed as well, so she always gave herself.
- 5:30If that schedule of time to throw other things in and I
- 5:33think now most of us don't do that will say well I don't have
- 5:37time for that and that's just sad because we can make time for
- 5:41whatever we want. We just have to schedule
- 5:44ourselves and take back the time that does not add value.
- 5:49And when I say schedule ourselves, I don't mean overbook
- 5:51yourself. I mean, look at your schedule
- 5:53and say, okay, where is all this time?
- 5:55Going, where is it being spent? Where am I putting energy that
- 5:59it doesn't need to? Out.
- 6:01So today I would love you to do your exercise in time.
- 6:06Inventory. And maybe it's not just one day.
- 6:09Maybe you need to do this for a period of two or three days
- 6:12because days aren't always the same.
- 6:14Like, a day off is not the same as a day working and a day
- 6:18working, might not be the same as if one day, you're in the
- 6:21office in one day or in your home office.
- 6:24So you might have to spend some time actually pouring into this
- 6:28and saying, hey, I've got to do this on a couple.
- 6:30Different levels so that I can see where it's all going.
- 6:33And then I can decide what's working, what's not working?
- 6:35And where I can shift. So, hopefully, you get this
- 6:39exercise done and you can start to see where do I want to put my
- 6:43time instead of just having it kind of be random.
- 6:48Alright guys, have a great day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:51Bye. Different levels so that I can
- 6:32see where it's all going. And then I can decide what's
- 6:34working, what's not working? And where I can shift.
- 6:37So, hopefully, you get this exercise done and you can start
- 6:41to see where do I want to put my time instead of just having it
- 6:47kind of be random. Alright guys, have a great day
- 6:49and I will see you tomorrow. Bye.
