- 0:31what's going on everybody it
- 0:32is a friday afternoon lunch
- 0:35hour episode of the
- 0:36clydesdale lunch with the
- 0:38clydesdale yeah that's me
- 0:40um man what a slow crossfit
- 0:43news week it has been we
- 0:46had mayhem and then we kind
- 0:48of got all that out of the
- 0:49way and then it's just kind
- 0:51of been waiting for the
- 0:53next shoe to drop uh and
- 0:55there's no other in person
- 0:58qualifying event until
- 1:01next weekend in copasur so
- 1:03um just kind of uh just
- 1:06kind of going through what
- 1:09we can here so um what I
- 1:14wanted to talk about a
- 1:15little bit today is I got a
- 1:17couple comments yesterday a
- 1:18couple texts um I talked a
- 1:20little bit about the dress
- 1:22code policy that we have
- 1:23for my job even though we work from home
- 1:29And I used a term head to toe,
- 1:31and that's really my term.
- 1:32It's not in the policy.
- 1:34But when you read the teleworking policy,
- 1:38it says you must adhere to
- 1:40the full dress code of the
- 1:42agency that we work for.
- 1:45then when you go to the
- 1:46agency dress code policy it
- 1:49says that you must wear a
- 1:52collared shirt dress slacks
- 1:54dress pants um you must
- 1:58wear dress shoes and um and
- 2:00then it has like things
- 2:01that it forbids and one
- 2:04thing that um captured the
- 2:06attention of a couple
- 2:07people I talked to
- 2:07yesterday was it actually
- 2:09forbids any color of hair not
- 2:14in not in a natural sense
- 2:17and then it says for
- 2:18example green blue pink
- 2:23because people are not born
- 2:24with those colors of hair
- 2:26those are forbidden as part
- 2:28of the dress code which is
- 2:30just insane to me are we
- 2:32really still in um but anyway
- 2:39I just wanted to clear that
- 2:40up that the head to toe
- 2:41comment was actually my way
- 2:43of expressing that even
- 2:45though only my upper torso
- 2:48is showing just like it is
- 2:49on this show right now, uh,
- 2:51when I'm in a work meeting,
- 2:52only that much of me shows.
- 2:54Um, uh, so even though that's all,
- 2:59I still am required by the
- 3:02policy to wear dress pants
- 3:03and dress shoes, um, and a colored shirt.
- 3:07Um,
- 3:09what I do is, uh,
- 3:12I actually have an
- 3:13oversized pair of pants and oversized.
- 3:16Um,
- 3:17I have five collared shirts in the
- 3:19closet that's right behind
- 3:20me where I work from.
- 3:22And when I, it's time for a meeting,
- 3:24I just throw the pants over
- 3:25top what I'm wearing.
- 3:26I throw the colored shirt
- 3:27over top of my shirt that I'm wearing.
- 3:30Um,
- 3:30and so I appear in the meeting in full
- 3:32dress code, uh,
- 3:37whatever full required,
- 3:38what is required of me so
- 3:40that I am in compliance
- 3:43just in case one day, if they said to me,
- 3:46Hey, stand up,
- 3:48we want to see your lower
- 3:51torso to make sure you're
- 3:52in dress code compliance.
- 3:53I would be able to do so.
- 3:56But it's,
- 3:58it's really and there's
- 3:59there's a whole thing and I
- 4:01was talking to lex by text
- 4:02yesterday where it talks
- 4:04about that you might your
- 4:05hair must your grooming
- 4:06must be in order and and
- 4:10it's really like loose
- 4:11where the executives can
- 4:13really just attack whoever
- 4:15they want to attack because the uh
- 4:20The grooming bit is, man,
- 4:22if you have a bad day or
- 4:24your hair's just not going
- 4:25right and someone wanted to pick on you,
- 4:27they could say you're not groomed well.
- 4:32It's just insane and archaic,
- 4:34and I can't believe we're
- 4:35still in this era.
- 4:43But anyway, yeah, it's what I deal with,
- 4:45but it's my job.
- 4:48try to do it to the best of
- 4:49my ability I'm going to be
- 4:51back in a in an office by
- 4:53the end of the year anyway
- 4:55and then I'll have to be in
- 4:56full dress code anyway so
- 4:58um lynn says hair that well
- 5:00that's me out with my
- 5:01purple hair yeah it is the
- 5:05the uproar that came from
- 5:06that that's not even a
- 5:07newer policy that came out
- 5:10before we left the office
- 5:12and it got fought big time
- 5:14because um depending on cultures like
- 5:19And those, the hair colors are,
- 5:22it just looked at
- 5:23differently and it was
- 5:25fought big time back then,
- 5:29but they lost somehow and I
- 5:30don't know how.
- 5:32But yeah, purple hair would not be allowed,
- 5:36Lynn.
- 5:39what's weird is like they
- 5:40allow red even if it is not
- 5:44like a natural what a
- 5:45redhead would would wear
- 5:48because to be able to come
- 5:51down to what where is the
- 5:54line of where it's natural
- 5:55and unnatural is too hard
- 5:57to come by so they allow
- 5:58all reds but they don't
- 6:00allow blue they don't allow
- 6:02green they don't allow
- 6:03purple pink any of those
- 6:06it's it's pretty crazy um
- 6:10And there was even arguments
- 6:11that some of the older
- 6:12women say their hair is naturally blue.
- 6:15Um, but that, that failed as well.
- 6:18So, uh, uh,
- 6:23train to lift says you're
- 6:24basically Superman.
- 6:25I am.
- 6:26Um,
- 6:27I change in and change out of clothes
- 6:30constantly throughout the day.
- 6:31Now, if I have back-to-back meetings,
- 6:32I just leave them on.
- 6:34Um, but like,
- 6:36I don't want to wear dress
- 6:37clothes down here to do this.
- 6:41Um, do surprise meetings count?
- 6:43Like when someone calls you
- 6:44randomly to get
- 6:45clarification on something they do.
- 6:48Um,
- 6:48but I'm pretty fast and I have
- 6:50everything sitting beside me for the day.
- 6:52Uh,
- 6:52so I can get in and out of clothes
- 6:53quickly.
- 6:57Uh, Corey says, dude,
- 6:59asking you to stand up to check,
- 7:01to see if you're in compliance for a job,
- 7:03for a job where you're
- 7:04working from home is some.
- 7:06Shit.
- 7:08It is.
- 7:10It's crazy.
- 7:15um and lynn says I guess
- 7:17she's going ginger yep it's
- 7:21so stupid it's it's funny
- 7:23like I've always wanted to
- 7:25do like the faux hawk in
- 7:27like a blue tip thing um
- 7:29but I've never been able to
- 7:30do it because I my job I pays my bills so
- 7:38and jeff jay birch is saying
- 7:40uh he's singing the song
- 7:42express yourself not with
- 7:44the state of ohio you are
- 7:45not allowed to do that so
- 7:49anyway I just wanted to
- 7:50kind of wrap a bow around
- 7:52that because we talked
- 7:53about it yesterday and I
- 7:54did get a lot of comments
- 7:55some people texting me
- 7:56asking me clarifying
- 7:57questions and so just to
- 7:59clarify um that that's where we're at um
- 8:07And man, with my allergy,
- 8:09some days I have like a
- 8:10really bad day and my eyes are puffy,
- 8:15things like that.
- 8:16And to like be on camera,
- 8:17cause you have to be on
- 8:18camera for everything now.
- 8:21And it's really hard,
- 8:22but I guess I'd have to do
- 8:23that going into the office.
- 8:25And I think that's where
- 8:27like the working from home
- 8:29is crazy because if I'm
- 8:30sick or I have a really bad
- 8:32allergy day or things are
- 8:33puffy or whatever,
- 8:34like I'll just work through
- 8:35it cause I'm working from home.
- 8:37But if I have to go into the office, man,
- 8:39I'm probably calling off
- 8:40sick and then you're not
- 8:40even getting me for those
- 8:41eight hours in the day.
- 8:43Um,
- 8:47I don't understand the
- 8:48obsession with bringing
- 8:49everybody back to work.
- 8:51For some people who don't
- 8:52work with the public or
- 8:53don't do things like that,
- 8:55it just doesn't make any sense to me.
- 8:58And then in our city,
- 8:59because it was announced,
- 9:01and we're the capital city of Ohio,
- 9:03that everybody has to return to work,
- 9:05the real estate companies
- 9:06are now charging four times
- 9:08the rent on the buildings
- 9:12because the state is trying
- 9:13to find places to put people and
- 9:15and pick up leases again but
- 9:17they're the building I was
- 9:19in before I left they went
- 9:20back to try to get it and
- 9:21the rent price on it is
- 9:22four times what it was when
- 9:23we left so they're being
- 9:28gouged now for that and
- 9:29they're going to pay four
- 9:30times as much to get people
- 9:32back to work as they would
- 9:34be to to work from home
- 9:37And I've said this a million times,
- 9:38I test things in our system
- 9:40and I test them for what
- 9:42the customer would see.
- 9:43The customer is not inside our firewall,
- 9:45so I get actually better
- 9:47results on my testing by
- 9:48working from home and
- 9:49working outside the
- 9:50firewall to test what I'm doing.
- 9:53and then it's just me going
- 9:56into a system and trying to
- 9:57break it and doing things
- 9:58like that I'm much I get
- 10:01way more done when I'm here
- 10:03at home because nobody is
- 10:04interrupting me I can just
- 10:06put my head down and go
- 10:07through the whole test I
- 10:08don't have to worry about
- 10:09someone coming up to my
- 10:11desk and asking for
- 10:12anything or whatnot so
- 10:17It doesn't make sense to me,
- 10:18but I'm just tired of fighting it.
- 10:21It's an inevitability,
- 10:22and we're going to be back soon.
- 10:25Jason Bourne,
- 10:26the government is back asswards.
- 10:27It is so that much.
- 10:29It is so that.
- 10:32Jaybert says,
- 10:33do you have a Republican
- 10:34governor or legislature?
- 10:36We do.
- 10:45No TPS reports.
- 10:49Um,
- 10:50I I've worked under both Democrat and
- 10:52Republican governors in my time here.
- 10:55And, um, it always,
- 10:57it all seems the same when
- 10:59you're inside of it all.
- 11:01Um, they all have their,
- 11:04they all have their, their agendas.
- 11:07They all, I dunno, it just is,
- 11:10it's bizarre.
- 11:14But right now we have Governor DeWine.
- 11:18And I was born and raised a Republican,
- 11:23but I'm not a fan of
- 11:25Governor DeWine and the
- 11:26actions that he's taken.
- 11:30So...
- 11:31I don't know.
- 11:33I really don't like any
- 11:34politicians at this point
- 11:36after working for both sides.
- 11:38I've not seen anything from
- 11:40any of them that have... I
- 11:42shouldn't say I haven't seen anything.
- 11:44They all come with their faults.
- 11:46And working for both sides,
- 11:50I've had trouble with both.
- 11:51So I don't really lean one
- 11:55way or another anymore.
- 11:56I just don't like...
- 11:59I don't like politics
- 12:00anymore after working for the state.
- 12:02I'm just over it.
- 12:08ACRS, what's for lunch?
- 12:10That I have to determine.
- 12:12My wife is actually leaving
- 12:14after work today to go back
- 12:15to Pittsburgh to help my
- 12:16daughter pack as we are
- 12:19moving her to Montana in
- 12:21less than two weeks now,
- 12:22which is totally blowing my mind.
- 12:25Can you believe Easter is
- 12:26like next weekend?
- 12:29Where has time gone?
- 12:32I can't even...
- 12:35man so in in a little over a
- 12:37week I'm going to be
- 12:38packing up a u-haul uh
- 12:41driving across the country
- 12:42to montana with my daughter
- 12:44unpacking her in a new
- 12:46apartment there with her
- 12:48two dogs and then flying
- 12:50back to columbus um after
- 12:52that and it's gonna be it's
- 12:55gonna be a crazy crazy trip um
- 13:03Uh,
- 13:03Corey Leonard's birthday is in six days,
- 13:05just in case everybody
- 13:07needs some time to buy a gift.
- 13:09Uh, you have six days left.
- 13:14So, yeah, so we're going to go,
- 13:16we're going from Columbus up to Chicago,
- 13:20up to Madison, up to Minneapolis,
- 13:23and then across like Fargo,
- 13:24Bismarck all the way to great falls.
- 13:28Um, and.
- 13:31with that,
- 13:31we're going to pass the Badlands.
- 13:33We're going to pass Mount Rushmore.
- 13:34We're going to stop at those places.
- 13:37Um, the Badlands, the more I look into it,
- 13:39the more I am really
- 13:41psyched to go see that.
- 13:44Um, so I'm really pumped for that.
- 13:49Um,
- 13:50as well as even though Jay Birch has
- 13:52poo pooed my visit to Mount Rushmore,
- 13:54I'm still looking forward to it.
- 13:56Um,
- 13:58just to kind of see it and move on.
- 14:00But, uh, but it's going to be fun.
- 14:04And then my daughter will
- 14:05start her new life as a,
- 14:07as a professional
- 14:07photographer with a company, um,
- 14:11doing their catalog and
- 14:12their social media and their websites, uh,
- 14:15and all the apparel that they sell.
- 14:17So that's going to be awesome for her.
- 14:19And I can't wait for that to
- 14:20happen for her.
- 14:24One thing,
- 14:24one bit of news that came out today,
- 14:26and I don't even know if
- 14:27it's that newsworthy,
- 14:28is the WFP has announced
- 14:31who is going to be in
- 14:33Indianapolis in the pro
- 14:35qualifier or the pro
- 14:36division out of the qualifier.
- 14:40And so this is the list of
- 14:41athletes that qualified.
- 14:44My...
- 14:48My biggest question about this list,
- 14:49and it doesn't say it in
- 14:50the comments or in the narrative,
- 14:53is did these people accept
- 14:55their invitation to Indianapolis,
- 14:57or are they just the qualifiers?
- 15:00Because I think on the men's side,
- 15:01it is the top ten people in the qualifier,
- 15:04from one to ten, all of them.
- 15:06And so I'm wondering if they all accepted.
- 15:12And then on the women's side,
- 15:15it's one to eleven.
- 15:17There may be one change
- 15:20because I thought Var, Thurman,
- 15:22Moe was the last qualifier,
- 15:23but maybe I was only counting to ten.
- 15:28And then Oda Lundikvam is
- 15:34also in there at number eleven.
- 15:37So I'm just curious because
- 15:38it doesn't say that they've accepted.
- 15:40It just says that these are
- 15:42the people that qualified
- 15:44because I know they do
- 15:45backfill these positions.
- 15:48Um, and if it's just qualified,
- 15:51we knew this when they
- 15:52locked the leaderboard like a week ago.
- 15:54So I don't know why it's
- 15:55newsworthy unless they've accepted.
- 15:58Um,
- 16:01Ah, so yeah.
- 16:02So Otis because Jamie Green
- 16:03couldn't make it.
- 16:04That is, or Jamie Simmons.
- 16:07I call her Jamie Green too, Lynn,
- 16:09and it's hard.
- 16:12So yeah,
- 16:12so I guess this is people who have
- 16:14accepted because Jamie did not accept.
- 16:19And so we do have a little
- 16:22bit of a different list on
- 16:22the women's side.
- 16:28I agree with you, Lynn.
- 16:29I think it's accepted
- 16:30because others qualified
- 16:31but couldn't travel.
- 16:33Yeah,
- 16:34so this is the lineup that's going to
- 16:36be added to the signed athletes.
- 16:42and you know everybody's
- 16:43gonna I mean everybody knew
- 16:45colton was going after it
- 16:47anola kai nate ackerman
- 16:48tolamore akinyo tanner
- 16:50belas danny camacho colin
- 16:52bassard nick matthew fabian
- 16:54benito and chris ibarra uh
- 16:56it's a pretty good um
- 16:58that's a pretty good lineup
- 16:59on the men's side to be
- 17:00added to that uh andreas
- 17:02oberg ella wilkinson annika
- 17:04greer fisa goffi like c neely
- 17:07Lydia Fish, Linda Keesman, Trista Smith,
- 17:10Emily Rethwell, Var Thurman Moe,
- 17:12and Oda Lukunvan.
- 17:15That's pretty awesome.
- 17:17so uh I think that those are
- 17:21pretty good lineups um to
- 17:24go into the pro division
- 17:26what's crazy is and is that
- 17:28abby domet did not make the
- 17:30qualifier for the pro
- 17:31division she's only in the
- 17:32challenger and she talked
- 17:34about it on the spin this
- 17:35week that she's not great
- 17:37at online qualifier she's
- 17:38better in person um
- 17:41And I think this goes to show it.
- 17:43That's why she went for it
- 17:44at mayhem and didn't really
- 17:46have a backup plan.
- 17:47It was, I'm going forward at mayhem and,
- 17:51uh, to qualify and what a tight race to,
- 17:55for it to be like,
- 17:56I know she had other
- 17:57opportunities if she didn't make it,
- 17:59but for it to be like your
- 18:01one shot mentally and how
- 18:03close that was at the end.
- 18:06Wow, man.
- 18:08Good on her, though.
- 18:10Sometimes you just got to
- 18:11put yourself in that
- 18:12situation and let the cream
- 18:15rise to the top as you get there.
- 18:30I'm not sure who else is
- 18:31gaining from this comp experience,
- 18:33men or women.
- 18:38Um,
- 18:39it's good for Lydia fish and Trista to
- 18:41compete in.
- 18:42I think any competition,
- 18:43especially for young athletes,
- 18:44that they can get some
- 18:45experience head to head is
- 18:47really good for them.
- 18:50Um,
- 18:51I think we found that when we came out
- 18:53of COVID and the young
- 18:54athletes at that time never
- 18:57competed on the floor
- 18:58because everything was
- 18:59online during the COVID year.
- 19:01And when they got there, they,
- 19:03they struggled in person events.
- 19:07Um,
- 19:09And so I think any
- 19:12experience that any athlete
- 19:14can get on the floor head
- 19:15to head is really, really important.
- 19:24And I think what Craig's saying here,
- 19:25and if I'm missing the interpretation,
- 19:29is that you're asking who
- 19:30is gaining more from this competition,
- 19:32the men or the women?
- 19:34I don't think there is a
- 19:36difference in what they're gaining.
- 19:37I think they're both gaining experience.
- 19:39Any head-to-head competition
- 19:40is good for them.
- 19:48I'm excited for Oda and Var.
- 19:52Krieger has been churning
- 19:54athletes and I'm pumped to
- 19:54see them bring it in.
- 19:56Yeah.
- 19:57Kristen Holta and that crew
- 19:59are just building an empire in Norway.
- 20:04It's going to be, I'm really sad that,
- 20:08that Mathilde Garnes did not,
- 20:10was not able to compete.
- 20:13She's one of my favorite athletes.
- 20:15She's done well with the Krieger system.
- 20:19So yeah, bummed for that.
- 20:24so another thing that's
- 20:25happening tonight is the
- 20:27public judging window for
- 20:29the age group semifinals
- 20:31ends this evening um and at
- 20:35that point then crossfit
- 20:36will take the votes that have been
- 20:40given and they are going to
- 20:43then go back and do a
- 20:44second review um do a
- 20:48second review of those that
- 20:49need reviewed in their
- 20:51opinion based on the
- 20:52numbers and then we should
- 20:54have a final a final age
- 20:57group qualification in
- 20:59about ten days um it's such
- 21:03a long time to wait for
- 21:04those athletes they put so
- 21:06much into this and man the
- 21:08the online thing just is terrible.
- 21:11I did.
- 21:11I was encouraged that Dave
- 21:13said that he loved what
- 21:15mayhem did in an affiliate
- 21:16and maybe they could do
- 21:17some of those types of
- 21:18things for the age group, uh,
- 21:21semis as well and find a way for them to,
- 21:25to qualify in person.
- 21:27I know there's a couple, uh,
- 21:30masters type at, um, competitions.
- 21:32There's the pit, um,
- 21:37to do for the teens,
- 21:39I think it'd be cool if
- 21:40there was some opportunity, uh,
- 21:42for them to qualify in person.
- 21:44I,
- 21:44we talked about it briefly yesterday
- 21:46about the difference
- 21:47between online and in person.
- 21:48And some people were really
- 21:49good at one and maybe not the other.
- 21:51I know like Jamie would love
- 21:53to compete in person to
- 21:54qualify as opposed to online.
- 21:58Um, so it'd be cool to have that option.
- 22:02If you are a better in
- 22:03person athlete than you are
- 22:05an online athlete.
- 22:07But we'll see.
- 22:08I mean,
- 22:09it would depend on partners being
- 22:10willing to have those
- 22:11events because I don't
- 22:13think CrossFit themselves
- 22:14would actually invest in
- 22:17holding those events.
- 22:24But yeah,
- 22:25I can't wait for those to be
- 22:27finished and us to get
- 22:29final results on who's
- 22:30actually coming to Columbus
- 22:32at the end of the year.
- 22:36It'll be good to get those
- 22:37officially out there.
- 22:46Of course is what idea
- 22:47online qualifier of MFC and
- 22:49Legends and then those two
- 22:51are qualifiers for Masters games.
- 22:54They'd really have to do
- 22:56some mega schedule changing
- 22:58because Legends is in December.
- 23:01They would have to change
- 23:02that dramatically.
- 23:04Legends hosts the games,
- 23:06and so I don't think they'd
- 23:07want to do two really close
- 23:11back-to-back events.
- 23:12I think you'd almost have to
- 23:14find some other partners.
- 23:18So with that,
- 23:22He was talking about it in
- 23:23the way that Mayhem was an
- 23:24affiliate and that they
- 23:25held a competition in an affiliate.
- 23:27So I think he's thinking
- 23:30like smaller ones around
- 23:32the country inside of an
- 23:34affiliate where you can go
- 23:35compete as opposed to like
- 23:38these big competitions like
- 23:41MFC and Legends.
- 23:45Lynn says,
- 23:45the online video thing I hope
- 23:47was just a test case.
- 23:48They were trying, but...
- 23:50Well, the good news is,
- 23:51I don't know if anybody saw this,
- 23:54but Jason Grubb actually posted,
- 23:58hopefully it's on his, okay, here we go.
- 24:05He posted this yesterday, I think it was.
- 24:09that and he is part of the
- 24:11athlete council uh he had
- 24:14posted a thing that corey
- 24:15and I talked about on
- 24:16wednesday like a list of
- 24:17things that were wrong with
- 24:19the online judging um and
- 24:22he's posted this update
- 24:23crossfit hq will meet with
- 24:24the crossfit athlete
- 24:25council regarding feedback
- 24:26questions concerns about
- 24:28the semi-final review
- 24:29process unfortunately after
- 24:31the completion of the
- 24:32competition late next week
- 24:34so hopefully it will
- 24:38They'll have this meeting
- 24:39and they'll correct things for next year,
- 24:41but it looks like we're
- 24:42stuck with what we have for this year.
- 24:52But at least someone is
- 24:54talking to CrossFit about
- 24:55it and they are responsive
- 24:56and they're going to talk
- 24:57to the athlete council about it.
- 25:01So I think that's a good thing.
- 25:12Also,
- 25:12they said HQ programmed the semis and
- 25:14Legends will program the games, right?
- 25:16So it would be HQ organizing the semis.
- 25:21I think it's all up in the
- 25:23air as to who would do what
- 25:26for next year unless they
- 25:29did the same events at
- 25:30every in-person semifinal.
- 25:34If they did it like they did
- 25:35for the elite and just let
- 25:37the in-person semifinals
- 25:40program however they wanted
- 25:42and you could choose to go
- 25:44to those or not, I think that's fine too.
- 25:49It's just different ways to
- 25:50get into the party.
- 25:53and I'm okay with all that
- 25:57however whichever way they
- 25:58wanted to go um so yeah so
- 26:06that happened yesterday the
- 26:09last thing I want to talk
- 26:10about just some fun stuff is uh is
- 26:17I, I am a great game show junkie.
- 26:20I love game shows.
- 26:21I watch them all the time.
- 26:23It's something my wife and I do together.
- 26:26Um, we watched jeopardy every night, uh,
- 26:29together.
- 26:30I know that makes me sound
- 26:31like I'm really old, but I just, I love,
- 26:34I love game shows.
- 26:35I've loved them since I was a kid.
- 26:38My mom and I would watch them together.
- 26:40And I guess I was just
- 26:40thinking about it with
- 26:41everything going through with my mom that,
- 26:44um,
- 26:47uh, that I've just, I don't know.
- 26:52I just really, really, really enjoy them.
- 26:55And I was thinking about
- 26:57which ones I love the most.
- 26:58And I,
- 26:59and Jay Birch comes in with wheel of
- 27:00fortune.
- 27:01I would put that as like a tier two.
- 27:03I'm not really great at the,
- 27:04at the word puzzle solving.
- 27:06I'm, I'm okay.
- 27:08Maybe a little better than average,
- 27:09but I'm okay with it.
- 27:11Uh, but, um,
- 27:13yeah I like I like fast
- 27:15trivia like the games I
- 27:17like are the ones that get
- 27:19the most questions out in
- 27:20the half hour or hour that
- 27:22it's on uh so the shows I
- 27:24like are jeopardy I like
- 27:25the chase I like um the
- 27:28floor because you're
- 27:30getting just rapid fire
- 27:31questions throughout uh the
- 27:35episode that it's airing
- 27:37I, when my mom used to actually,
- 27:40and I used to play five
- 27:41thousand dollar pyramid or whatever,
- 27:42however many dollars it is now,
- 27:46one of us would turn our back to the TV,
- 27:48we would mute it and the
- 27:49other one would give clues
- 27:50and we would play the game along with it.
- 27:54so I yeah I like all those
- 27:55games the games I don't
- 27:56like are the ones that like
- 27:58in an hour you get like six
- 27:59questions like hundred like
- 28:02uh who wants to be a
- 28:03millionaire like that is it
- 28:05just drones on with like
- 28:07really bad questions at
- 28:08first you finally get to
- 28:10some decent ones but you
- 28:12only get like a handful in
- 28:13the entire episode and to
- 28:15me that's just a big big waste of time
- 28:19But I like Price is Right.
- 28:21It moves fast, all of that kind of stuff.
- 28:25And I was just curious if
- 28:26any of you guys were game
- 28:27show junkies like I was,
- 28:30or if I'm one of the few.
- 28:33I actually tried to get on a
- 28:35game show this year for the
- 28:36first time ever.
- 28:37My nephew, my daughter,
- 28:38and I tried out for Pop Culture Jeopardy,
- 28:42which is running on Prime now.
- 28:45The test to get in was...
- 28:47So hard.
- 28:49So, so hard.
- 28:52We kind of knew coming out
- 28:53of the test that we had
- 28:55lost our shot to come on the show,
- 28:58but we gave it a shot.
- 28:59I'd never done it before.
- 29:01It was a fun experience just
- 29:03going through the test,
- 29:05but we didn't make it.
- 29:06And then now I've watched
- 29:07the Pop Culture Jeopardy show,
- 29:09and a lot of the people on
- 29:10there are former Jeopardy contestants.
- 29:13Like, you've had your shot, man.
- 29:14Let some of us in there.
- 29:16uh so yeah jay birch says
- 29:23when I was in high school I
- 29:24was on the challenge team
- 29:26which was essentially a
- 29:27trivia con contest between
- 29:29schools and we would do it
- 29:30on tv yeah we we had those
- 29:32in pennsylvania too that
- 29:33was fun um and then corey
- 29:36says hollywood squares
- 29:37again that's one of those where
- 29:41see that shows more about
- 29:42the jokes to me and the
- 29:44celebrities telling the
- 29:45jokes and the trivia
- 29:47questions you only get like
- 29:48ten for ten or twelve for
- 29:51the half hour or whatever
- 29:53it's on it's it's fine I
- 29:56don't I don't dislike it
- 29:58but it's not like in my my
- 30:00upper tier of game shows
- 30:06And we still have more talk
- 30:07about the online de-read
- 30:09issue with the online stuff
- 30:11is that there are too many
- 30:11videos to validate.
- 30:13I think that was the premise
- 30:14of this though,
- 30:15that there were so many for
- 30:17HQ to go through to
- 30:17validate that they put it
- 30:21out there for public
- 30:22consumption thinking that
- 30:24everybody would be
- 30:25trustworthy and that they
- 30:27would do legit judging to
- 30:30narrow down their focus to
- 30:32just the bad videos.
- 30:34And I don't think that's what they got.
- 30:36I think what they're getting
- 30:37are manipulated numbers
- 30:40based on friendships,
- 30:41based on all the stuff that
- 30:44Grubb talked about in his
- 30:45post the other day, which was this post.
- 30:54um where he talked about
- 30:56there's no way to identify
- 30:58what's been wrong with the
- 30:59video uh we can't see who's
- 31:01marking the videos uh some
- 31:04athletes used friends or
- 31:05judges to pre-populate good
- 31:06reviews um their reports of
- 31:09organized networks down
- 31:10voting other competitors
- 31:12like these are the things
- 31:13we that crossfit did not expect um
- 31:18when they when they launched
- 31:20this the whole premise of
- 31:22this was to narrow down
- 31:23their focus because there
- 31:25were so many videos to
- 31:26validate so many divisions
- 31:28so many videos but I don't
- 31:29think that's what they got um
- 31:48I think this is about what
- 31:50Craig asked up here, which was,
- 31:54I'm not sure who else in
- 31:55the men or women brackets
- 31:56would gain from this comp
- 31:57experience except newer
- 31:59athletes like Trista and Lydia.
- 32:01Again,
- 32:02I think everybody can use experience.
- 32:06And then Lynn answered,
- 32:07a majority of the
- 32:08qualifiers have at least
- 32:09one CrossFit Games
- 32:10experience or pretty close.
- 32:13I think both men and women,
- 32:14WFP is more than,
- 32:17is more visibility for
- 32:18sponsorships etc um yeah
- 32:22we'll see about the
- 32:22visibility um once they
- 32:25launch I hope they get more
- 32:27visibility I want the
- 32:28athletes to have more
- 32:29opportunities um so I hope
- 32:31that that that is what's there um
- 32:41Family feud with Richard Dawson.
- 32:43That's the best.
- 32:45Jay Burch,
- 32:45you and I may be the only two
- 32:47that even remember Richard
- 32:48Dawson on family feud.
- 32:57Corey says one of his fellow
- 32:58competitors is in the
- 32:59twenty ninth position and
- 33:01he has a ton of down votes
- 33:02for no apparent reason
- 33:04other than the fact that
- 33:05he's in twenty ninth.
- 33:06Yeah,
- 33:07that's that's exactly when that's the
- 33:10mess.
- 33:12Um,
- 33:12Lynn says I'm not a judge and I've
- 33:14watched a lot of videos
- 33:15with down votes for no reason.
- 33:18I have been a judge.
- 33:20I've been a judge.
- 33:21at very high levels.
- 33:23I have, and I, and again,
- 33:25I think I said this the other day,
- 33:26I did some,
- 33:27I just spot checking of videos
- 33:30and I did not,
- 33:31I did not look at any friends videos.
- 33:33I was trying to eliminate
- 33:35all of my biases and just
- 33:37trying to find what these
- 33:39people were down voting.
- 33:40And I had a really,
- 33:41really hard time finding
- 33:43anything through my spot
- 33:45checking that was actually legit.
- 33:49Again,
- 33:50it would be very helpful if they had
- 33:52to say why.
- 33:54I think if you say why,
- 33:55it eliminates people just
- 33:57going and clicking on a
- 34:00thumb up or thumb down.
- 34:10Meanwhile,
- 34:11the guy who got twentieth on
- 34:13Isabel clearly did it with
- 34:14a hundred and fifty-five pounds.
- 34:17See if that happened and
- 34:18they did spot that and it
- 34:19was in there and they,
- 34:21that makes sense for,
- 34:22to point that out to HQ,
- 34:24to get this guy out of there.
- 34:25He doesn't belong.
- 34:27Um, so yeah.
- 34:35Corey remembers Richard Dawson.
- 34:38Um,
- 34:39Craig Bosley likes the dating show and
- 34:42marriage show.
- 34:43Don't remember you, the newlywed game.
- 34:47That's what you're thinking of, Craig.
- 34:53So yeah,
- 34:54that one led to a lot of fights usually.
- 34:57We had a home version of
- 34:58that that I played with my
- 35:00parents before my dad passed away.
- 35:02And my dad can't remember anything.
- 35:07And my mom was so livid that
- 35:11they were getting into a
- 35:12fight in our living room over the stuff.
- 35:17And that's what the show
- 35:18turned out to be as well.
- 35:23But yeah.
- 35:25Yeah.
- 35:27So I really think that this
- 35:31age group video stuff is a
- 35:32mess and hopefully they get
- 35:33this cleared up and that, um,
- 35:35the athlete council can
- 35:36talk to them about, uh,
- 35:39what they're doing and
- 35:41maybe get some corrections,
- 35:43hopefully along with that
- 35:44in the same vein is take
- 35:46away the silly requirement
- 35:47for two judges for these, um,
- 35:54take away the two judges for
- 35:57these in-person or in-affiliate semis.
- 36:01That's just a big ask for
- 36:04Masters athletes who have
- 36:05to work full-time.
- 36:09um lynn says deal or no deal
- 36:12I like deal or no deal but
- 36:13I really like deal or no
- 36:15deal island I think that
- 36:17has added a a mix to the
- 36:19bag that makes it way more
- 36:22exciting um uh so yeah lynn
- 36:35is saying I should have
- 36:35collins for sunday because I'm heated
- 36:38We have the capability of doing Collins.
- 36:41I can do that.
- 36:44We've done them in the past
- 36:45with not a lot of response.
- 36:47I think the only people that
- 36:48have ever called into my
- 36:49show are Corey and Kenneth
- 36:52on different shows,
- 36:53but we can we can open up
- 36:55the phone lines.
- 36:57Uh,
- 36:58I have my phone hooked to the road
- 36:59caster.
- 37:00I just have to Bluetooth it
- 37:01in again for Sunday night.
- 37:04And I'm actually going to be
- 37:05bacheloring it up all
- 37:07weekend because my wife's
- 37:08going to Pittsburgh to help
- 37:09my daughter pack.
- 37:10So it's just me and my dog
- 37:12Walter all weekend.
- 37:13Uh,
- 37:14so I got plenty of time to hook up some
- 37:16stuff.
- 37:17Um,
- 37:19And get that ready so yeah
- 37:21I'll put in the the phone call option,
- 37:25and you can talk directly
- 37:26to carolyn and Jamie and
- 37:27get their thoughts.
- 37:30I'm trying to transition to
- 37:32just being like a
- 37:33facilitator on Sunday
- 37:35nights there's times where
- 37:36I just I have to say.
- 37:39I have to say something,
- 37:40but I'm trying to turn into
- 37:41a facilitator on Sunday
- 37:43nights where this show
- 37:45during the week is my opinion.
- 37:48I let Jamie and Carolyn talk
- 37:50and give their perspective
- 37:52on Sunday nights,
- 37:53and I just try to be a facilitator.
- 37:55Now, again,
- 37:56that's really hard for me
- 37:57because sometimes I just
- 37:58really want to say something, and I do.
- 38:01But that's really where I'm
- 38:03trying to lean toward going
- 38:05forward on those Sunday
- 38:06night shows is really
- 38:08making it Jamie and Carolyn's show,
- 38:11and I'm just kind of
- 38:12facilitating the news and
- 38:20the topics and all of that.
- 38:23But I would love to hear a
- 38:26heated Lynn on Sunday night.
- 38:27So I will go ahead and hook that up.
- 38:37Lynn says, no,
- 38:38you also give good
- 38:38perspective too and different,
- 38:40which I don't agree with sometimes,
- 38:42but that's good.
- 38:44What I love about this medium, Lynn,
- 38:48is that
- 38:50this is our philosophy all
- 38:51three of us is I don't care
- 38:56if you disagree with me
- 38:57that's fine I just want to
- 38:59talk about it and maybe you
- 39:01can convince me otherwise I
- 39:02think that's fair I I just
- 39:05don't want to be a place where um we
- 39:12we bash the people that
- 39:13think differently than us
- 39:14because I think what makes
- 39:16life great is variety and
- 39:19not everybody should agree
- 39:21it makes life boring if
- 39:22everybody agreed with
- 39:23everything it's okay to
- 39:25have differing opinions and
- 39:27as long as we can talk
- 39:28about it in a civil adult
- 39:31manner I'm okay with all of that um
- 39:35God knows Carolyn and Jamie
- 39:37and I don't always agree on things.
- 39:40Um,
- 39:40we disagree all the time and that's fine.
- 39:44And there's, they're my best friends, like,
- 39:47but that's cool.
- 39:48Like,
- 39:50and maybe we can understand each
- 39:51other a little better by
- 39:52the end of the day.
- 39:59Wait, are you talking about life before?
- 40:02That's what I'm talking about, Jeremy.
- 40:07If everybody looked the same,
- 40:09we'd get tired of looking each other.
- 40:10That's right.
- 40:12And that's the good thing
- 40:13because you make us also see another side,
- 40:15which is great.
