- 0:00Speaker 1: Podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Art and
- 0:16Speaker 2: today we're joined by Jannis Brody, Randall, Cal Alyssa Logan
- 0:20Speaker 2: and Tate Morgan from Sons of Smokey Outdoor Stewardship. Tate,
- 0:25Speaker 2: Welcome to the show.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hey, thanks for having me.
- 0:27Speaker 2: First thing, tell folks what Sons of Smokey is.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Sons of Smokey is an organization we formed about five
- 0:33Speaker 1: years ago. It's dedicated to removing trash from public land.
- 0:37Speaker 1: So we organize events in association with our other event,
- 0:41Speaker 1: the Gambler five hundred. And then also we've develpt an
- 0:43Speaker 1: app where anyone hikers, birdwatchers, hunters, off roaders can find
- 0:48Speaker 1: trash in the wild market on the app. And then
- 0:50Speaker 1: we also use that tool to go out and pick
- 0:51Speaker 1: all that trash up.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Okay, a lot of good stuff there. Let's talk about
- 0:54Speaker 2: the Gambler five hundred. First, what is it?
- 0:56Speaker 1: It's an off road navigation rally utilizing cheaper, impractical fun
- 1:01Speaker 1: cars and we wanted the forest looking for trash. That's
- 1:04Speaker 1: a big party too.
- 1:04Speaker 2: And Cal, what was your role in that this year?
- 1:08Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:08Speaker 4: My objective was to just show all these other user
- 1:12Speaker 4: groups that this very eclectic, loose, fun group of people
- 1:17Speaker 4: also exist and they're excellent stewards of public land, like
- 1:21Speaker 4: they use public lands and there's this huge stewardship aspect
- 1:25Speaker 4: to I think it was four thousand people in Madras, Yeah, right, Like,
- 1:30Speaker 4: I mean, that's a lot. That's a big group of
- 1:33Speaker 4: people to get together so that there's some secret sauce
- 1:35Speaker 4: that this guy has put out there and people are
- 1:38Speaker 4: reacting to it and people need to know about it.
- 1:41Speaker 4: So that was my objective, and you know, I just
- 1:45Speaker 4: felt like it was a very important thing to showcase
- 1:47Speaker 4: during like the big public lands fight, right.
- 1:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Cal had described it to me as possibly the largest
- 1:53Speaker 2: public land trash pickup in the world. You said four
- 1:57Speaker 2: thousand people there. What's the rest of the scale of
- 1:59Speaker 2: this trash pick up event?
- 2:01Speaker 1: Well, and so I don't know if I can say world,
- 2:03Speaker 1: because there's some ocean cleanups that go you know, go
- 2:05Speaker 1: on nationally that that might but as far as one
- 2:08Speaker 1: particular weekend, we've we've topped out and we've done four
- 2:11Speaker 1: hundred and fifty thousand pounds of trash, and that includes
- 2:14Speaker 1: abandoned cars, RVs. Boats. We go for big stuff called
- 2:18Speaker 1: trophy trash. So you roll into camp with a water
- 2:20Speaker 1: heater and you know, instead of like a big boil,
- 2:22Speaker 1: you get a water heater out there and everyone collapsing
- 2:24Speaker 1: and throw it in the bin and you go back
- 2:25Speaker 1: out and you do it again.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Tell you about the rest of the trophy trash. What
- 2:28Speaker 2: are like the craziest things you guys bring in?
- 2:29Speaker 1: I mean, right now it's our vs. We have a
- 2:31Speaker 1: big house house. The situation that's happening in Oregon and unfortunate,
- 2:35Speaker 1: it's getting pushed out into public lands. And so we've
- 2:37Speaker 1: got all these abandoned campers that are out there. I
- 2:38Speaker 1: mean we hauled in about I think about twelve of
- 2:41Speaker 1: them this year. We got to pick them apart and
- 2:42Speaker 1: get rid of them. We did fifteen abandoned cars and
- 2:45Speaker 1: then boats. Boats are always the funny, funniest thing. So
- 2:47Speaker 1: how did this? It's not on a Trailer's just a
- 2:49Speaker 1: boat on top of a mountain somewhere and we hold.
- 2:51Speaker 1: But it's also fun because you could usually haul them
- 2:53Speaker 1: out with you know, Toyota corollas.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, cal you you have some content coming out
- 2:57Speaker 2: with Tate. Tell folks win and where they'll get that well.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Hopefully we can get it put together well next week
- 3:05Speaker 4: or so. On the YouTube channel the Meat Eater Podcast
- 3:08Speaker 4: YouTube channel, you'll be able to see some of this.
- 3:11Speaker 4: You can always cruise the Sons of Smoking Gambler five
- 3:14Speaker 4: hundred Instagram feed as well, and then down the road
- 3:19Speaker 4: whenever the editing schedule allows, there'll be more of a
- 3:24Speaker 4: full length, you know, thirty forty minute.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Man.
- 3:30Speaker 3: There was so much to film.
- 3:32Speaker 4: There was so much to film, it's it might just
- 3:35Speaker 4: be a scrolling montage of weird and awesomeness. It was
- 3:40Speaker 4: gorgeous the whole time, so trying to keep the sinnies
- 3:44Speaker 4: in line was very hard.
- 3:46Speaker 6: It sounds kind of like Burning Man for people who
- 3:48Speaker 6: aren't selfish exactly.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Burning Man was brought up multiple times during this shoot,
- 3:54Speaker 4: and every time somebody was like, this is not burning Man.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Do not associate.
- 3:59Speaker 3: We clean up after ourselves.
- 4:02Speaker 5: Uh huh.
- 4:02Speaker 7: Have you guys ever come in behind the rainbow gathering?
- 4:06Speaker 3: No?
- 4:06Speaker 1: Never, but I heard, Yeah, I know that that's kind
- 4:09Speaker 1: of a big issue. We're slightly more organized and functional
- 4:12Speaker 1: than that group of misfits.
- 4:13Speaker 7: But no, I'm saying, like, come in to clean up
- 4:16Speaker 7: after them.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Uh no, no, And yeah, I mean I don't even
- 4:20Speaker 1: know where they are these days, but around there are
- 4:24Speaker 1: there are a few like like the Cascade really and
- 4:26Speaker 1: a few sporting like sports events where people run or
- 4:28Speaker 1: bike and stuff that people ask us to come in
- 4:30Speaker 1: after them. They like these people trash this places, water
- 4:32Speaker 1: bottles and ditches everywhere, and and yeah, that's that's that's
- 4:35Speaker 1: not our gig.
- 4:36Speaker 4: So yeah, Rannie's crushing cups on his head and drawing
- 4:40Speaker 4: off the side.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Well, I mean it is a party. I mean we'd
- 4:43Speaker 1: have like ten bands out there and a bunch of vendors,
- 4:45Speaker 1: and you know there's some pops consumed you know at
- 4:47Speaker 1: night and stuff, and it's a good mix.
- 4:49Speaker 2: That's great, good stuff.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Who's smoky smokey.
- 4:53Speaker 1: We wanted to make it sound like kind of like
- 4:55Speaker 1: more treacherous, kind of like bike like intimidate litterbugs and
- 4:58Speaker 1: so the sons of smoky you know, you know, at
- 5:02Speaker 1: the end of the day, we're.
- 5:03Speaker 7: Just sons of anarchy was taken.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Yeah, let's play on that and sons you know some
- 5:07Speaker 1: of smoking the bear, the smoking mountains.
- 5:09Speaker 5: Just okay, yeah, I like it.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Tate, Welcome to the show. Now this is a ten
- 5:13Speaker 2: round quiz show with questions from Meat Eater's four verticals,
- 5:16Speaker 2: which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking, and there is
- 5:19Speaker 2: a prize. Mediater will donate five hundred dollars to the
- 5:22Speaker 2: conservation organization of the winner's choosing. Now, Tate, what are
- 5:25Speaker 2: your strengths and weaknesses in trivia that's about hunting, fishing,
- 5:28Speaker 2: conservation and cooking.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I'm a yeah, jack of all trades, but yeah, I'm
- 5:33Speaker 1: I'm a deer and elk hunter. You know, big public
- 5:35Speaker 1: land guy out here up in Oregon. So I usually
- 5:37Speaker 1: you bring home at least you know, one of the two.
- 5:39Speaker 1: So I'm I'm an audit you guys content So you know,
- 5:43Speaker 1: all right, I know know some stuff, but I probably
- 5:45Speaker 1: tell you today.
- 5:46Speaker 5: I know all right.
- 5:47Speaker 2: For the housekeeping section, Phil and Randall did bar trivia
- 5:50Speaker 2: last night. What was the result.
- 5:52Speaker 8: Well, it's kind of an interesting evening.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Oh wow, yeah, thank.
- 5:58Speaker 8: You Phil, thank you.
- 6:00Speaker 6: So we uh we decided the very last minute to
- 6:02Speaker 6: play trivia at a local watering hole at six pm.
- 6:05Speaker 6: And at six oh five it was plain to us
- 6:08Speaker 6: that trivia was not in fact happening.
- 6:10Speaker 9: Despite being advertised on There.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Were you the only ones waiting for trivia.
- 6:14Speaker 6: Yes, so in any event, it was it was filmed
- 6:19Speaker 6: myself and our lovely wives, and we uh, we deliberated
- 6:23Speaker 6: on whether or not we could stay out long enough
- 6:25Speaker 6: to go to an eight o'clock trivia game and another
- 6:28Speaker 6: watering hole. Four rounds, great trivia, really phenomenal questions. We
- 6:34Speaker 6: were playing against a table of some ten odd hold hold.
- 6:37Speaker 5: On, so you did make it to the eight pm?
- 6:39Speaker 2: We did migrant it called an audible Yeah, we played.
- 6:42Speaker 6: We played against a table of some ten people against
- 6:45Speaker 6: the rules, right neck, And no they don't, they don't
- 6:47Speaker 6: limit that what they.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Do morally, it's against Yeah.
- 6:51Speaker 6: And ultimately there was that there was a moment in
- 6:53Speaker 6: time during the second round, which which was very difficult,
- 6:56Speaker 6: and a gentleman came out of the restroom and stood
- 7:00Speaker 6: for our table like belly to our answer sheet and
- 7:04Speaker 6: glanced at the answer sheet, glanced at the TV, and
- 7:06Speaker 6: I just thought, well, maybe this is some hapless fool
- 7:08Speaker 6: who's bumbling about the world without any sense of how
- 7:12Speaker 6: people perceive his actions, and I'll just let him go
- 7:15Speaker 6: on his merry way without saying anything. And then in
- 7:17Speaker 6: fact was a member of that big team, and so
- 7:20Speaker 6: he he hovered over our answer sheet until Sydney told
- 7:24Speaker 6: me later that she gave him like a glare, and
- 7:27Speaker 6: that's when he actually left our table and he went
- 7:29Speaker 6: and sat down right next to him.
- 7:31Speaker 9: So it turns out they were our closest rivals the
- 7:34Speaker 9: whole game.
- 7:35Speaker 6: But we saved our you know, you can double your
- 7:37Speaker 6: best round, and we saved our double star until the
- 7:40Speaker 6: very end category biopics or biopis, and we did a clean,
- 7:48Speaker 6: clean sweep there, forty points. We didn't even use the
- 7:51Speaker 6: mulligan that we could have used at any and one
- 7:54Speaker 6: of the four rounds.
- 7:55Speaker 2: So dominant.
- 7:56Speaker 8: It felt really good.
- 7:57Speaker 6: Actually it was challenging and and and you know, it's
- 8:00Speaker 6: not at all fun if you don't win.
- 8:02Speaker 9: Yeah, especially especially since we weren't almost We almost didn't
- 8:05Speaker 9: go because we were a bunch of early birds.
- 8:07Speaker 8: And then I'd just like to we we won. Uh,
- 8:11Speaker 8: we won a fifty dollars bar tab.
- 8:12Speaker 5: Oh a little.
- 8:14Speaker 8: We had already settled our bar tab, so uh.
- 8:17Speaker 6: I went to the I went to the bar, and
- 8:19Speaker 6: I said, hey, can we just have like as many
- 8:21Speaker 6: unopened beers as you can give those coasty.
- 8:23Speaker 8: Bucks their ice cold?
- 8:25Speaker 5: Okay, they're ice cold.
- 8:26Speaker 8: So if anybody would like one, Phil you want to,
- 8:29Speaker 8: oh please?
- 8:29Speaker 3: I'm so glad I didn't make fun of that story.
- 8:33Speaker 6: Sidney and I Yes, Sydney and I walked out of
- 8:37Speaker 6: Molly Brown's last night with an armful of beers, and uh,
- 8:40Speaker 6: what a great.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Day they because they make you use.
- 8:42Speaker 6: The tab the night that you win. And so I
- 8:45Speaker 6: was about to call the store boys and just say,
- 8:48Speaker 6: you guys want to come because we we had had enough.
- 8:50Speaker 6: You know, it was ten pm past our bedtime. And
- 8:53Speaker 6: I almost called the store boys and said, you guys
- 8:55Speaker 6: want to guys want to chew up a fifty dollars
- 8:57Speaker 6: tab here at Molly Brown.
- 8:58Speaker 8: But they were kind enough to give us some road beers.
- 9:01Speaker 2: So kind Yeah, good on you, so cheers. Well done, yeah, Randall,
- 9:05Speaker 2: well done?
- 9:05Speaker 3: Filled yougether?
- 9:07Speaker 2: How many questions did you get wrong?
- 9:09Speaker 6: The first round we got one question wrong, The second
- 9:12Speaker 6: round we got three wrong.
- 9:14Speaker 9: The third round was a weird one because it was
- 9:16Speaker 9: in like a mix. It was a big pool of points.
- 9:18Speaker 8: Anybody else.
- 9:21Speaker 9: We finished with a ninety two out of one hundred,
- 9:23Speaker 9: and the second place team had ninety.
- 9:24Speaker 6: Yeah the third the third round you had to match
- 9:27Speaker 6: decades to events without and they didn't repeat, so it
- 9:32Speaker 6: was like if you got one wrong, you got too wrong,
- 9:34Speaker 6: but then you could get.
- 9:35Speaker 8: Bonus points by naming the exact date. So that's when
- 9:39Speaker 8: we really made up some ground.
- 9:41Speaker 6: And then in the final round, I mean it was
- 9:44Speaker 6: a storybook finish, trying to move.
- 9:49Speaker 3: The only thing that.
- 9:50Speaker 10: Made randall if you and Phil would have gotten a
- 9:53Speaker 10: bar fight with your your rival team.
- 9:55Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, nearly nearly came to blows had you not
- 9:59Speaker 6: pulled it out in the end.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Does it give you some confidence in coming into trivia?
- 10:03Speaker 8: No, not at all, No, not at all.
- 10:05Speaker 6: I uh yeah, I saw a comment this morning said
- 10:08Speaker 6: Ben Randalls beIN just sucking.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Wow, But it did.
- 10:14Speaker 8: I do have a little extra pap in my step today.
- 10:17Speaker 5: Although scer Spencer was telling us that on trivia days
- 10:22Speaker 5: you actually have a hard time accomplishing your other work,
- 10:26Speaker 5: trying to get before the game. Oh is that true?
- 10:30Speaker 8: Not really?
- 10:31Speaker 5: I mean I okay, So.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Why do you sit by yourself in your vehicle.
- 10:34Speaker 6: Day listening to my tapes, myself help tapes.
- 10:39Speaker 2: It's more productive?
- 10:40Speaker 6: No, it's just just a real, a real treasure to
- 10:43Speaker 6: be able to play with you guys every week. So
- 10:45Speaker 6: I'd look forward to it. If anything, I'm distracted by
- 10:48Speaker 6: the by the excitement.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Well done test victory for you and Phil.
- 10:53Speaker 6: Yeah, so that's probably not going to make it on TV.
- 10:56Speaker 8: It's not gonna make the twenty.
- 10:59Speaker 5: Yeah, let's not be presumptuous here.
- 11:01Speaker 8: Yeah, all right.
- 11:02Speaker 2: The Shelby into Extra today is a four to our
- 11:04Speaker 2: winner should get eight correct answers, and with that we're
- 11:07Speaker 2: onto the game of trivia played the drop pill.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Look, I need to know what I stand to win everything?
- 11:17Speaker 8: How's that just tend to win?
- 11:26Speaker 11: Game on suckers?
- 11:28Speaker 2: How many roadies did that? Fifty dollars get you.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Eight?
- 11:32Speaker 2: Eight?
- 11:33Speaker 5: Couch?
- 11:34Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 11:34Speaker 9: You know?
- 11:34Speaker 8: For next time?
- 11:35Speaker 2: Question one, the topic is natural history, and this will
- 11:38Speaker 2: be multiple choice. In what city is the Field Museum
- 11:43Speaker 2: of Natural History? Is it Chicago, San Francisco, El Paso
- 11:50Speaker 2: or Boston.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I can't believe this is a multiple choicer.
- 11:54Speaker 2: In what city is the Field Museum of Natural History? Chicago,
- 11:59Speaker 2: San Francisco, El Paso, Boston. Brody's still thinking about it, Brody,
- 12:07Speaker 2: do you have this one right?
- 12:08Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 12:09Speaker 7: I'll go find out.
- 12:13Speaker 2: In what city is the Field Museum of Natural History? Chicago,
- 12:16Speaker 2: San Francisco, El Paso or Boston.
- 12:19Speaker 7: Why pick it on me already?
- 12:21Speaker 2: Well, Cal declared it was easy, and you were the
- 12:23Speaker 2: one still thinking. That is why I asked, is everybody
- 12:26Speaker 2: ready go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Tate
- 12:32Speaker 2: saying San Francisco, Giannis and Randall, and the Logan and
- 12:37Speaker 2: Alyssa and Cal and Brody saying Chicago. They got it.
- 12:41Speaker 2: The correct answer is Chicago.
- 12:43Speaker 3: So only one person in the room got it wrong.
- 12:46Speaker 2: That's right.
- 12:47Speaker 1: If you look, you can see it. I'd wiped off Chicago.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Col got in your head. The Field Museum is one
- 12:54Speaker 2: of the largest natural history museums in the world. It
- 12:57Speaker 2: sits on the shore of Lake Michigan and gets over
- 12:59Speaker 2: two million visitors each year. They have forty million specimens
- 13:02Speaker 2: and artifacts in their collection and are known for their
- 13:05Speaker 2: library of two hundred and seventy five thousand books on
- 13:08Speaker 2: the subjects of biology, ecology, geology, and archaeology. Logan, how
- 13:13Speaker 2: many field trips did you take there as a kid?
- 13:15Speaker 11: You know, I don't remember exactly. We went to the
- 13:17Speaker 11: Museum of Science and Industry this last holiday break and
- 13:20Speaker 11: that was awesome. MSI yeah, I think like as a
- 13:24Speaker 11: kid I don't remember how much like reading was involved
- 13:27Speaker 11: in museums, and I was like, wow, you have to
- 13:28Speaker 11: like read a lot when you're at museums.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Who will spended the.
- 13:32Speaker 8: Field unless you go to them in foreign countries where
- 13:34Speaker 8: we don't speak the language.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yanni and cow Ben in the field? How about n random?
- 13:38Speaker 8: Yes?
- 13:38Speaker 2: Yes, okay? Any highlights to share from your field museum trip?
- 13:42Speaker 4: Wanabo there the hope diamond was there when I was there.
- 13:46Speaker 6: They have a large I think it's a bronchiasaurus on
- 13:50Speaker 6: display at the O'Hare Airport, and a little field museum
- 13:54Speaker 6: gift stand as well, So.
- 13:57Speaker 4: I mean it is well, well, yeah, yeah, it's awesome.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Question two. The topic is hunting. Knine infectious respiratory disease complex,
- 14:09Speaker 2: which is a highly contagious illness for dogs, is more
- 14:12Speaker 2: commonly known by this name. Canine infectious respiratory disease complex,
- 14:21Speaker 2: which is a highly contagious illness for dogs, is more
- 14:25Speaker 2: commonly known by this name. Brody and Randall quick to answer,
- 14:31Speaker 2: you're with a blank whiteboard.
- 14:33Speaker 8: You spent some money at the vet in your day?
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, funded that vet recently?
- 14:39Speaker 5: All, just recently?
- 14:41Speaker 3: Do you do another rounded?
- 14:43Speaker 5: No? No, no, okay, yeah from last winter.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Canine infectious respiratory disease complex, which is a highly contagious
- 14:51Speaker 2: illness for dogs, is more commonly known by this name.
- 14:55Speaker 7: Weren't you gonna double the number your pack? Honest, you're
- 14:59Speaker 7: gonna get another one?
- 15:01Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 15:01Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a work in progress.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Yeah, waiting for the right one to come along.
- 15:06Speaker 5: No, just waiting for the aok from the leader of
- 15:10Speaker 5: our home pack.
- 15:11Speaker 2: You know, okay, very good.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Are you like looking for something a little smaller, takes
- 15:18Speaker 4: up a little less space?
- 15:20Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, half half size of my horse who thinks
- 15:24Speaker 12: he's a dog, or.
- 15:26Speaker 5: Maybe the other way around.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Still waiting on, Yanni.
- 15:29Speaker 5: Everybody else has an answer?
- 15:32Speaker 2: An answers have an answer?
- 15:34Speaker 12: Oh man, come on, just give me one dog sickness.
- 15:38Speaker 12: That's all I need is one doggie.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Canine infectious respiratory disease complex, which is a highly contagious
- 15:48Speaker 2: illness for dogs. It's more commonly known by this name.
- 15:54Speaker 2: He's coming up with his answer. Go ahead and reveal
- 15:57Speaker 2: your answers. We have hate saying. Corona says Curdy, Surdy,
- 16:05Speaker 2: Randall says kennel cough logan barking cough, Alyssa parvo kel
- 16:13Speaker 2: kennel cough, Brody kennel cough. The correct answer is kennel cough.
- 16:19Speaker 2: I think we had three or four or players. Get
- 16:22Speaker 2: that one right. Kennel cough affects more than five million
- 16:25Speaker 2: dogs each year. As the name suggests, dogs are most
- 16:29Speaker 2: at risk when they're around a lot of other dogs
- 16:32Speaker 2: at kennel's shelters and daycares. Classic symptoms include runny nose, sneezing,
- 16:36Speaker 2: and frequent coughing that's been described as honking and gagging. Typically,
- 16:41Speaker 2: dogs fully recover within a week. Who has experienced with
- 16:44Speaker 2: kennel cough? Been here and you didn't get it? Right?
- 16:49Speaker 2: How bad was it, Brody? When kennel cough wasn't bad?
- 16:52Speaker 4: A lot of noise if you're around dog gets it bad.
- 16:55Speaker 4: I mean it sounds horrible.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it sounds horrible.
- 16:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 16:59Speaker 6: The worst part about it was when Rosie got kennel cough.
- 17:02Speaker 6: We were living in a camper. Oh you didn't get
- 17:04Speaker 6: away from the noise.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Did you have your whole pack at that time?
- 17:07Speaker 8: Just two?
- 17:08Speaker 2: Okay, but both of them get it.
- 17:10Speaker 6: No, just Rosie got it. I don't think Arlow got it,
- 17:14Speaker 6: but yeah he was. He was not a camper sized dog.
- 17:17Speaker 1: So can we double check if canine corona is not also.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Kennel cough? Question three, The topic is conservation. This next
- 17:27Speaker 2: great question is via Tim Finnegan. This type of AI
- 17:32Speaker 2: has been used to save imperiled species such as white
- 17:35Speaker 2: rhinos and wood bison. Our room is stumped. Question three.
- 17:43Speaker 2: This type of AI has been used to save imperiled
- 17:47Speaker 2: species such as white rhinos and wood bison. The topic
- 17:52Speaker 2: is conservation. We have seven blank whiteboards in the room,
- 17:56Speaker 2: Brody and Randall now coming up with an answer.
- 17:58Speaker 6: I thought this was the one place where I'd be
- 18:00Speaker 6: safe from any discussion of AI, which seems to have
- 18:03Speaker 6: permeated all today discourse.
- 18:06Speaker 2: The topic is conservation. This type of AI has been
- 18:09Speaker 2: used to save imperiled species such as white rhinos and
- 18:13Speaker 2: wood bison.
- 18:16Speaker 4: So are you suggesting that the AI is the thing
- 18:18Speaker 4: that saved these species?
- 18:20Speaker 3: Because these species.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Woods by some typically mm hm like they would have
- 18:30Speaker 4: been long Dad, It's.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Been a tool that helped save these imperiled species. This
- 18:37Speaker 2: type of AI has been used to save imperiled species
- 18:40Speaker 2: such as white rhinos and wood bison. Does anyone like
- 18:44Speaker 2: their answer? Okay, is the only player I like mine.
- 18:50Speaker 6: Okay, if this AI is a Labrador retriever, do you
- 18:56Speaker 6: need a dog?
- 18:59Speaker 2: I'm not going to give any further hints. Everything you
- 19:02Speaker 2: need is right there.
- 19:04Speaker 12: I know for a fact that this type of AI
- 19:06Speaker 12: has been used to save the white rhino. So if
- 19:10Speaker 12: this is wrong, we're gonna take last night never happened
- 19:13Speaker 12: bar fight and make it happen.
- 19:15Speaker 3: You have to name the AI.
- 19:17Speaker 2: This type of AI has been used to save piled species.
- 19:25Speaker 5: So proud of.
- 19:27Speaker 8: Philis is a problematic question.
- 19:28Speaker 3: I'm not saying anything.
- 19:31Speaker 8: That is that bug.
- 19:33Speaker 9: Ice, cold and refreshing.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Thank you, be honest, very satisfying, good big smile and
- 19:39Speaker 2: a lot of giggling over there. This type of AI
- 19:42Speaker 2: has been used to saving periled species such as white
- 19:45Speaker 2: rhinos and wood bison. Do our other players give up?
- 19:50Speaker 3: I am officially giving up.
- 19:54Speaker 11: It's just like a type of AI or a company.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answer. Uh, we have tate
- 20:02Speaker 2: Without an answer, Yanna says an artificial insemination. Randall says
- 20:06Speaker 2: genetic modeling, logan generative AI alyssa chat GPT cow chat
- 20:14Speaker 2: GPT Brody without an answer, Yann has got it. The
- 20:17Speaker 2: correct answer is artificial AI.
- 20:21Speaker 6: I would have added quotation marks, that's a dirty.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Artificial insemination has been used on everything from pandas to
- 20:32Speaker 2: killer whales to blackfooted ferrets. The first AI with a
- 20:37Speaker 2: wild animal was a wolf in nineteen seventy three. Besides
- 20:41Speaker 2: increasing populations, it's a tool to help create more genetic diversity.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Before mm hmm, I have.
- 20:53Speaker 5: Well, where did you get that opportunity?
- 20:55Speaker 10: My buddy, Buddy's uncle rand a dairy farm one days, like.
- 21:01Speaker 3: At the end of the day, elbow deep.
- 21:04Speaker 2: That's right. It worked on a farm cow we'd prag
- 21:07Speaker 2: check the cows and they would call it AI. They
- 21:09Speaker 2: didn't say our. They got time for that quotation marks.
- 21:14Speaker 2: This type of AI. As the honest was saying, the
- 21:19Speaker 2: white rhino, I believe it's it's the northern herd that's
- 21:22Speaker 2: got to left, and they stuck one of those in
- 21:25Speaker 2: a southern herd white rhino. So it may be what
- 21:28Speaker 2: saves those question for the topic is wild.
- 21:35Speaker 5: I knew it was a dirty question, but I didn't
- 21:37Speaker 5: want to say. I felt good job.
- 21:40Speaker 3: It just looped up that.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Audubon calls this song bird the quote master mimic thanks
- 21:49Speaker 2: to its ability to imitate hundreds of bird songs and calls. Again.
- 21:56Speaker 2: This is question four. Audubon calls this song bird the
- 21:59Speaker 2: Master thanks to its ability to imitate hundreds of bird
- 22:03Speaker 2: songs and calls.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I mean to about you guys on my trivia show.
- 22:11Speaker 10: I think that's the first time that you've legitimately pulled
- 22:15Speaker 10: a dirty trick on It's a type of aid.
- 22:21Speaker 2: No, I thought half of you would get it. You
- 22:23Speaker 2: think I thought you would have. I thought you'd have
- 22:25Speaker 2: the honest reaction where you'd giggle.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Question.
- 22:29Speaker 6: If that were a crossword clue published in the New
- 22:33Speaker 6: York Times, it would have had.
- 22:34Speaker 8: Quotation marks around it.
- 22:37Speaker 2: They might steal this from us, and we'll see what.
- 22:42Speaker 5: We would love to join your trivia show.
- 22:45Speaker 2: The Master mimic thanks to its ability to imitate hundreds
- 22:48Speaker 2: of bird songs and calls.
- 22:50Speaker 4: I ran around and talked to a bunch of people
- 22:52Speaker 4: at the Gambler, and you know, I'd be like, oh, cool, car,
- 22:55Speaker 4: tell me about it, and then they really start telling
- 22:57Speaker 4: me about it, and I was just like, oh, knew
- 23:00Speaker 4: nothing nothing about.
- 23:02Speaker 5: Like listening to Spencer and Randall talk n b A.

- 23:09Speaker 2: It's everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We

- 23:50Speaker 7: Is it mocking bird in the family.
- 23:54Speaker 8: It must have been a into your brain somehow.
- 23:57Speaker 3: I know somebody loved it up and shoved it in there.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Well, the Google AI says, no, a mocking bird and
- 24:04Speaker 2: a mocking j are not the same thing. A mocking
- 24:07Speaker 2: bird is a real bird, while a mocking j is
- 24:09Speaker 2: a fictional hybrid bird from the Hunter game. Just just
- 24:13Speaker 2: for argument's sake, mocking j's are a result of a
- 24:16Speaker 2: genetic back on between a mockingbird and a jabber j.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Mocking you would have taken well, you didn't.
- 24:28Speaker 3: This would have been an acceptable answer.
- 24:30Speaker 5: They should also know that The Stellar's Jake also has

- 27:16Speaker 2: smell like coffee. So that happened again today. Brody answer
- 27:26Speaker 2: Rand do you give up? Yeah, go ahead and reveal.
- 27:32Speaker 9: What's that say?
- 27:34Speaker 2: Jannis says vex lar Randall without an answer. Logan says

- 30:39Speaker 10: checker so you don't.
- 30:40Speaker 8: Have to do it.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I wish I had one that would be convenient. Do

- 33:06Speaker 2: helped any of you. Randall, do you think that you
- 33:08Speaker 2: would have been like, oh, it's artificial.
- 33:10Speaker 6: Because I would have known that it wasn't a I
- 33:12Speaker 6: wouldn't known that you're not looking for a type of
- 33:14Speaker 6: artificial intelligence.
- 33:16Speaker 3: But he's a crosswords math.
- 33:20Speaker 2: This is the word also a doctor. Well, it fooled

- 33:23Speaker 8: Do a lot of you can find at Randall.
- 33:25Speaker 3: No what I'm puting.
- 33:26Speaker 4: I'm saying that that being in quotation marks doesn't mean
- 33:30Speaker 4: the same thing to somebody who's not a crosswords.
- 33:32Speaker 6: Well anything in quotation marks. It's practically saying like so
- 33:36Speaker 6: called AI. It's it's to imply that it's not actually
- 33:38Speaker 6: what you're talking.
- 33:39Speaker 3: To somebody who's insist.
- 33:42Speaker 6: I think anybody like if I wrote, if I wrote
- 33:44Speaker 6: in a text to you, Spencer is the real expert
- 33:47Speaker 6: trivia host that put expert quotation marks you to understand
- 33:51Speaker 6: the application.
- 33:52Speaker 5: I would.

- 34:39Speaker 2: A laugh, A laugh the camera.
- 34:44Speaker 9: Actually, oh yeah, hold on.
- 34:45Speaker 2: We've got a lot of problems here again.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Can I use phonetic spelling on this or.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Spelling does not count unless you put instead Another hint,
- 34:57Speaker 2: this is the world's largest burrowing clam m which has

- 35:21Speaker 5: With the Peterson's field. I do, yes, it's.
- 35:26Speaker 8: Really but Brody's doing a lot of eracing too well.
- 35:30Speaker 10: I figured there's no reason to complicate things.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 35:38Speaker 2: Tate saying gooey duck, Jannie duck, Randall gooey duck, logan
- 35:46Speaker 2: foul clam alyssa clucker cal and Brody saying gooey duck.
- 35:52Speaker 2: That's the correct answer, gooey duck, and it's spelled the
- 35:54Speaker 2: g e O duck g e O d k.
- 35:59Speaker 8: I got both the phonetic at it right.
- 36:00Speaker 7: That's great to point out that cow said goeye duck.
- 36:06Speaker 2: These animals are also known as elephant clams and king clams.
- 36:10Speaker 2: They can weigh several pounds and live for one hundred
- 36:13Speaker 2: and fifty years. They cost about thirty dollars per pound
- 36:16Speaker 2: and are said to taste slightly sweet and briny. Gooey
- 36:20Speaker 2: ducks are often eating raw as sashimi or savice, or
- 36:23Speaker 2: cooked in a stir fry or hot pot. Who's eating
- 36:26Speaker 2: guy ducks?
- 36:26Speaker 3: You go after those things?
- 36:28Speaker 5: No?
- 36:28Speaker 1: Never, I think steamers and now yeah, we claim a
- 36:34Speaker 1: little bit, not gooey duck.
- 36:35Speaker 2: So Randall thinks he's eating.
- 36:37Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean Sydney's from the Pacific Northwest. She's a
- 36:40Speaker 6: big fan of clams and other shellfish.
- 36:44Speaker 2: How is that guey duck? Maybe cooked? I don't remember, Okay.
- 36:49Speaker 4: Way back when, when I was working in that part
- 36:50Speaker 4: of the country, I call them geo ducks. And that's
- 36:55Speaker 4: a good way to get yourself ostracized in a barn.
- 37:00Speaker 6: The only reason, Jack, the only reason I remember it's
- 37:03Speaker 6: because it was used in front of me and I
- 37:04Speaker 6: had no idea.
- 37:05Speaker 2: What it was like.
- 37:07Speaker 6: I was twenty six years old as an ohioman, and
- 37:10Speaker 6: I just had never heard of a guy duck guy.
- 37:13Speaker 5: This is a strong case for a half point.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Now a zero point answer question height. The topic is conservation.
- 37:21Speaker 2: These treaties, which were signed in Switzerland in nineteen forty
- 37:25Speaker 2: nine make it a war crime to destroy another country's dam.
- 37:32Speaker 5: Well, here's a bone for the old history doctor I
- 37:35Speaker 5: was about.
- 37:36Speaker 6: I was about to point out earlier that we we
- 37:39Speaker 6: haven't gotten any good history questions in a while.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Oh, well, this is a conservation question. Technically, these treaties,
- 37:46Speaker 2: which were signed in Switzerland in nineteen forty nine, make
- 37:50Speaker 2: it a war crime to destroy another country's dam. Also,
- 37:53Speaker 2: the first question day was about a natural history museum.
- 37:56Speaker 6: Yeah, that's not history though the best his I liked
- 38:00Speaker 6: that question though, Okay, I like it, Like this one
- 38:03Speaker 6: questions about flashers. Actually, there's someone in the chat today
- 38:06Speaker 6: on the on the live stream.
- 38:07Speaker 8: I said, you said, Randal.
- 38:09Speaker 6: As soon as you answer a question about birds correctly,
- 38:12Speaker 6: I'll become.
- 38:12Speaker 2: A randomal Is that your weakness?
- 38:15Speaker 8: Well, clearly the mocking bird.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Huh. These treaties which were signed in Switzerland in nineteen
- 38:23Speaker 2: forty nine, make it a war crime to destroy another
- 38:26Speaker 2: country's dam. This is question eight. We'll get another scoreboard
- 38:29Speaker 2: update and fill the engineer after this randal. Very confident
- 38:35Speaker 2: Tait that you have this one right.
- 38:38Speaker 1: I believe I didn't.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Okay, how about you, Brody, I think I got a chance.
- 38:42Speaker 2: These treaties, which were signed in Switzerland in nineteen forty nine,
- 38:47Speaker 2: make it a war crime to destroy another country's dam.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? Be honest? Sure, go ahead and reveal
- 38:56Speaker 2: your answers. Saying Geneva Convention, Giannis says, Paris Randall, Geneva Convention, Logan,
- 39:05Speaker 2: Geneva Treaties, Alyssa without an answer, cal versally Brody, Geneva Conventions.
- 39:12Speaker 2: The correct answer is Geneva Conventions. Will give it to
- 39:16Speaker 2: you Logan for having Geneva. The Geneva Conventions are international
- 39:21Speaker 2: laws that established legal standards for humanitarian treatment in war.
- 39:25Speaker 2: According to article fifty six of Additional Protocol, IE, militaries
- 39:31Speaker 2: aren't allowed to attack dams and dykes if there's a
- 39:34Speaker 2: chance they'll release dangerous forces onto civilians. The most deadly
- 39:38Speaker 2: single active war ever involved a levy that was destroyed
- 39:41Speaker 2: on the Yellow River in China during World War Two,
- 39:44Speaker 2: which caused nearly a million people to die. Phil let's
- 39:48Speaker 2: get a scoreboard update with two questions to go.
- 39:52Speaker 3: Ah, it's bad, Oh we are geez?
- 39:54Speaker 5: I got a single question the last update, rand cut
- 39:58Speaker 5: right to the chase.
- 39:58Speaker 9: Brody is ahead with six pointints and in second place
- 40:01Speaker 9: is Randall Williams with four. Brody's got a pretty solid shot,
- 40:05Speaker 9: but we'll see.
- 40:05Speaker 2: If he chokes in Brody gets questioned nine correct, he
- 40:10Speaker 2: will have.
- 40:10Speaker 8: To secure doctor. Do you have good ones there?
- 40:12Speaker 2: Question nine? The topic is fishing oh.
- 40:16Speaker 5: Textbook.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Hardy and Fenwick were the first brands to use this
- 40:22Speaker 2: eight letter material for phishing rods. Hardy and Fenwick were
- 40:28Speaker 2: the first brands to use this eight letter material.
- 40:31Speaker 5: We're fishing rods.
- 40:34Speaker 2: They next re marker found one.
- 40:38Speaker 5: Again.
- 40:38Speaker 2: This is question nine. If Brody gets this right, the
- 40:40Speaker 2: game will be.
- 40:41Speaker 3: Over too many letters.
- 40:45Speaker 2: It's too many letters, Brody, Brody, do you have this
- 40:48Speaker 2: one right? Hardy and Fenwick were the first brands to
- 40:54Speaker 2: use this eight letter material fishing rods? You honest, you
- 40:58Speaker 2: have this one right? I believe so off back half
- 41:00Speaker 2: of the game, very very tough.
- 41:05Speaker 5: I said it before. I need you know the universe
- 41:08Speaker 5: to align in your head and for those questions should
- 41:11Speaker 5: be right up my alley to pull out the dub Randall.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Do you have this one?
- 41:15Speaker 8: Right? I do?
- 41:16Speaker 2: I am so embarrassed eight letter material.
- 41:21Speaker 6: I'd be more embarrassed by Spencer's pronunciation of Versailles.
- 41:27Speaker 3: That was embarrassed.
- 41:28Speaker 2: I get nervous. I get nervous when I see whiteboard.
- 41:33Speaker 6: You could have at least gone with the Versailles, which
- 41:36Speaker 6: is the.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Treaty, the famous one.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. Hardy and As were the first brands
- 41:46Speaker 2: to use this eight letter material.
- 41:48Speaker 5: The last minute change.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Okay, eight letter word.
- 41:55Speaker 3: Yeah, that's one way to go.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? Logan? It's not right, but yeah, go
- 42:07Speaker 2: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Tate saying bamboo,
- 42:11Speaker 2: Giannis says graphite, Randall graphite, Logan plastics, Alyssa, aluminum, cal
- 42:19Speaker 2: and Brody say graphite. They got it. The correct answer
- 42:22Speaker 2: is graphight. Hardy and Fenwick started making graphite fishing rods
- 42:27Speaker 2: in the late nineteen sixties and early nineteen seventies. The
- 42:31Speaker 2: early models cost as much as one hundred and fifty dollars,
- 42:34Speaker 2: which would be over one thousand dollars today. Graph Fight
- 42:37Speaker 2: rods excel when it comes to being lightweight and sensitive,
- 42:40Speaker 2: but are also some of the easiest to break. All right,
- 42:43Speaker 2: here's a correct answer. Review so far one was Chicago
- 42:46Speaker 2: two Kennelkough three Artificial Insemination, four, Mockingbird, five Vexlar, six
- 42:54Speaker 2: Peterson seven Gooey Duck, eight Geneva Conventions, and nine Graphight.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Brody has secured to the victory. We'll see if he
- 43:02Speaker 2: can get the Shelby Index with the tenth and final question,
- 43:05Speaker 2: the topic is hunting. This next great question is via
- 43:08Speaker 2: Ryan Lufty, who faxed me this question.
- 43:11Speaker 13: Nice sent me a fax here or at your house,
- 43:15Speaker 13: because it's a fact that comes in via email, which
- 43:20Speaker 13: we've learned is an amish way.
- 43:22Speaker 2: To communicate with the show Nice. All right, what does
- 43:25Speaker 2: PRC stand for when referring to six five p r C,
- 43:29Speaker 2: seven PRC and three hundred PRC? Again, the topic is hunting.
- 43:36Speaker 2: What does PRC stand for when referring to the six
- 43:39Speaker 2: point five p r C, seven PRC and three hundred PRC.
- 43:47Speaker 5: Now that's a question.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Randall's got some confidence. He's uh had a strong second
- 43:54Speaker 2: half of the game, but couldn't catch up uh huh.
- 43:59Speaker 8: He's got anywhere to go?
- 44:01Speaker 2: Brodie, you have this one right.
- 44:05Speaker 5: In my head.
- 44:05Speaker 7: I do, but I could.
- 44:08Speaker 5: We got plenty of beers to do another round.
- 44:11Speaker 2: We're going to share the seventh and eighth one that
- 44:13Speaker 2: Randall brought with. There's only one that's okay, you could
- 44:17Speaker 2: pass it around.
- 44:18Speaker 6: I tried to get to fill earlier surreptitiously, but he declined,
- 44:21Speaker 6: So anybody need a refill?
- 44:23Speaker 2: What does p r C stand for when referring to
- 44:26Speaker 2: the six five p r C, seven PRC and three

- 44:49Speaker 7: I like that sixty five PRC.
- 44:51Speaker 1: That's good.
- 44:52Speaker 8: I'd love to get one of those.

- 45:01Speaker 2: Tate saying precision rifle cartridge, Giannis Oh, Randall, and Logan
- 45:08Speaker 2: with the same answer. Alyssa says precision round caliber, cal
- 45:13Speaker 2: says pretty round what's that say?
- 45:16Speaker 5: Cake case?
- 45:17Speaker 2: Pretty round case? And Brody says precision rebated cartridge. The
- 45:23Speaker 2: correct answer is the precision rifle cartridge. We had four
- 45:28Speaker 2: of our players get that one right, Brody did not,
- 45:31Speaker 2: But it doesn't Matter's confusion with PMM, Well that's Hornity
- 45:37Speaker 2: introduced the six' FIVE prc in twenty, seventeen three HUNDRED

- 46:14Speaker 6: look at like a cartridge like the three hundred wind.
- 46:16Speaker 8: Mag THE prc has got a little more.
- 46:18Speaker 6: Ass but if you look at just sort of a
- 46:20Speaker 6: factory three hundred wind, mag it's not throated, properly and
