- 0:21Speaker 2: Welcome back to Australia.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I had the pleasure of seeing you in December in
- 0:26Speaker 2: New York. For people who haven't seen you before, they
- 0:29Speaker 2: are in for a treat on this tour.
- 0:32Speaker 1: It's so fun. I'm really really been enjoying taking this
- 0:35Speaker 1: tour around here.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Yeah, have you enjoyed your time? Not your first time
- 0:38Speaker 2: in OZ, but I did see you have been meeting
- 0:41Speaker 2: the locals on your Instagram.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I have been meeting all the pythons and the Quakers.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yeah you saw a quaker, right, I saw many Quakers.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:49Speaker 1: It was wonderful.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I've never actually seen one. So what was that like?
- 0:53Speaker 1: It was so much fun. I feel like it was
- 0:55Speaker 1: one of those things where it felt like being in
- 0:58Speaker 1: a Disney movie or something where they were just animals
- 1:00Speaker 1: running around people and it was it was so cute.
- 1:04Speaker 2: For people who don't know you do. You have an
- 1:07Speaker 2: incredible story, an incredibly huge fan base. What is the
- 1:11Speaker 2: lave aised story?
- 1:12Speaker 1: The love story well, I'm from Iceland, yes, and I
- 1:17Speaker 1: have Chinese as well, and I make music that's a
- 1:22Speaker 1: blend of jazz music, classical music, barson nova pop music. Yeah,
- 1:29Speaker 1: very reminiscent of the past. But I like telling stories.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I love that. And then in the process, you have
- 1:34Speaker 2: a massed and incredible fan base.
- 1:38Speaker 1: The nicest people in the world.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Aren't they. As I said, I saw you in December
- 1:43Speaker 2: and there was a girl next to me and she
- 1:46Speaker 2: when you came on, it was like something took over her.
- 1:49Speaker 2: She was so excited.
- 1:51Speaker 1: That's so cute. Yeah, it was. I feel so lucky
- 1:54Speaker 1: to have such a beautiful community of people who are
- 1:58Speaker 1: quite like minded. I always say I became the musician
- 2:02Speaker 1: that I was missing when I was growing up. So
- 2:03Speaker 1: I feel like I've grown a community that's very similar
- 2:07Speaker 1: to me.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Yeah. I like that because like, yeah, I like that
- 2:12Speaker 2: that you became the musician that you were looking for
- 2:15Speaker 2: when you were growing up.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Well, I grew up playing cello, piano, classical music, singing
- 2:20Speaker 1: jazz standards, but I was ultimately a very moderate girl
- 2:23Speaker 1: and I wanted somebody to listen to and found over
- 2:28Speaker 1: and get to go to concerts too. And I also
- 2:31Speaker 1: didn't want it to be something that felt, you know,
- 2:34Speaker 1: old fashioned or old in anyway.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Which is what it is so beautiful about your music
- 2:38Speaker 2: is you have managed to craft it in a way.
- 2:43Speaker 2: And as I said to you, she must have been
- 2:44Speaker 2: maybe sixteen, and I was, and I was like, you are, like, like,
- 2:49Speaker 2: well crazy into It was great to say, I can't
- 2:52Speaker 2: wait to see the show tonight and watch the fans
- 2:54Speaker 2: go crazy. Do you do you get recognized in the
- 2:57Speaker 2: street or are you going to account? Yeah? Oh, can
- 3:00Speaker 2: you be a little bit incognito when you're off visiting
- 3:02Speaker 2: the Quakers and stuff?
- 3:04Speaker 1: I well, it definitely depends where I am, and it
- 3:07Speaker 1: definitely depends on how I'm dressed. When I'm with my
- 3:09Speaker 1: twin sister. I think it's really obvious because there's two
- 3:11Speaker 1: of us, and sure any question in your mind is
- 3:14Speaker 1: that her? Like if we're both there, then most likely
- 3:18Speaker 1: it is me. Yeah, it depends on where it is.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I feel like I kind of have the perfect blend
- 3:23Speaker 1: of it where I get to meet fans who are
- 3:26Speaker 1: usually very dedicated. They know a lot about me, have
- 3:29Speaker 1: listened to the music, like I've touched their life in
- 3:32Speaker 1: some way, and therefore they touch me. In some way.
- 3:35Speaker 1: So it's always a very honest and beautiful exchange, or
- 3:38Speaker 1: most of the time is a very honest and beautiful exchange.
- 3:41Speaker 1: So and then you know, I'm still live a very
- 3:44Speaker 1: normal life, joy doing so.
- 3:46Speaker 2: You don't have a staff of one hundred or people
- 3:48Speaker 2: around you cooking and cleaning, living the pop star dream.
- 3:52Speaker 1: No, I'm from Iceland. I'm like, that's such such an
- 3:57Speaker 1: un Icelandic mindset. And yeah, yeah.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Is that still home or did you move? Have you
- 4:02Speaker 2: moved to the US?
- 4:03Speaker 1: Oh, I live in La Yeah. I think it's you know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: and I definitely see that kind of star life and whatever,
- 4:10Speaker 1: and you know, I get my little moments of it.
- 4:13Speaker 1: It always kind of freaks me out and I just
- 4:15Speaker 1: want to like river it back to being a child
- 4:17Speaker 1: in Iceland.
- 4:18Speaker 2: You have a twin, Yeah, identical identical? Tell me, honestly,
- 4:24Speaker 2: have you ever switched out? Have you ever done a sweet?
- 4:26Speaker 1: You know, you're not the first person to ask me.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I have no doubt, and I'm sure you're gonna lie
- 4:29Speaker 2: to me no matter even if you have, You're not
- 4:31Speaker 2: going to tell me.
- 4:31Speaker 1: You know, I could tell you yes and it would
- 4:33Speaker 1: be a lie. I could tell you no. It would
- 4:34Speaker 1: be a lie, you know.
- 4:35Speaker 2: So, but could you? Could you let's pretend, let's just
- 4:39Speaker 2: play a game. Let's pretend you were a little tired,
- 4:43Speaker 2: right and she's not. Could you send her in your spot?
- 4:48Speaker 2: And would we be able to tell the difference.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I think you'd be able to tell the difference. I
- 4:52Speaker 1: mean recently, we used to look very alike, but I
- 4:54Speaker 1: cut my hair short. She has bangs now, yeah, fringe,
- 4:58Speaker 1: so we're quite different. And and I think we also
- 5:02Speaker 1: have grown into our different professions. So I don't think
- 5:05Speaker 1: I could do what she does very well, okay, And
- 5:07Speaker 1: I mean I mean she doesn't sing, so yeah she could.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I wasn't meaning that I would push her out for
- 5:13Speaker 2: you to sing. I mean just like, you know, hey,
- 5:14Speaker 2: if if you need to be somewhere or walk something,
- 5:17Speaker 2: and you're like yeah, I mean though tempting.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I think I am, like I have some sort of
- 5:24Speaker 1: childhood trauma or something. I'm really afraid of lying, Like
- 5:28Speaker 1: I cannot tell a lie to save my life. You
- 5:31Speaker 1: can see it on my face. And I don't like dishonesty,
- 5:33Speaker 1: and I don't like being dishonest, so it would feel dishonest.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but you would not you would bear me.
- 5:39Speaker 2: But anyway, I'm joking. Yeah, hey, this is a random question.
- 5:44Speaker 2: But if people go to your Instagram, it looks different
- 5:47Speaker 2: to other people's Instagram. Yes, it does, okay, because you
- 5:49Speaker 2: have this thing called an Instagram ring. Right, congratulations you
- 5:52Speaker 2: won that too. I think this is explain the award.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I think Instagram give out people who are like culture movers.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Culture make is the platform.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah, they did this really cool thing where they awarded
- 6:04Speaker 1: a handful of creators, artists of many kinds this ring,
- 6:10Speaker 1: and we got a real ring. It was really caused,
- 6:13Speaker 1: designed by Grace Will's bonner, and we all get to
- 6:18Speaker 1: customize our Instagram. And you chose pink custom like button.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Why I can choose it.
- 6:22Speaker 2: You can change it.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Every day if I want. Yeah, I've changed it a
- 6:24Speaker 1: couple of times.
- 6:25Speaker 2: This is fun.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I've changed a couple of times. It's hot pink right
- 6:28Speaker 1: now because I felt that I was in a hot
- 6:30Speaker 1: pink era of my life. Yeah, I wanted boldness in
- 6:34Speaker 1: my life. But it was late green before, which was
- 6:37Speaker 1: very innocent, very sweet.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I love that. I love that for you. Before I
- 6:40Speaker 2: go sixty seconds with leave lightning round of questions, you ready,
- 6:45Speaker 2: if you had a live theme song right now? What
- 6:47Speaker 2: would it be?
- 6:48Speaker 1: Life theme song? Oh? My god, I'm so bad at
- 6:50Speaker 1: lightning stuff.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Okay, well this is not a great one. Do you
- 6:53Speaker 2: believe in ghosts?
- 6:54Speaker 1: No?
- 6:55Speaker 2: Okay?
- 6:55Speaker 1: Uh?
- 6:56Speaker 2: What's giving you the ick recently?
- 6:58Speaker 1: Oh? I opened a door on my toe and it
- 7:00Speaker 1: was bleeding a lot, and my toes purple.
- 7:03Speaker 2: The toe in general or a bit of any toes? Yeah?
- 7:06Speaker 2: Do you have a secret talent that has nothing to
- 7:08Speaker 2: do with music.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I'm very flexible, really very.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Flexible, like stretching, stretching, Like can you do that thing
- 7:16Speaker 2: where people like arch their back and then they go
- 7:18Speaker 2: the wrong.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Way over very bendy.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Would it be inappropriate for me to ask to see that?
- 7:22Speaker 2: It would be, wouldn't it?
- 7:23Speaker 1: It would?
- 7:24Speaker 2: It's on the internet, okay if your camera ole leaked,
- 7:27Speaker 2: would you be concerned?
- 7:29Speaker 1: No? No, I'd be concerned because I have an embarrassing
- 7:32Speaker 1: amount of photos of everything.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Okay? Is that so? Yeah? And then last message to
- 7:37Speaker 2: the Aussie fans, Oh.
