- 1:12Speaker 4: Pillows and Pots.
- 1:19Speaker 5: Yeah, he's complaining about how early he had the wing
- 1:21Speaker 5: with Kendra goes on with the tune on the third
- 1:25Speaker 5: A little of.
- 1:25Speaker 6: Them because I was driving in.
- 1:26Speaker 7: Yeah, okay, we're just desperately trying to set Barth.
- 1:32Speaker 5: Up with anyone tell me about it, literally, anyone. Are
- 1:36Speaker 5: you feeling, ladies all right?
- 1:38Speaker 4: Would you say the mood was festive after day after Christmas?
- 1:41Speaker 5: This free sushi definitely helped. Okay, the mood was very high.
- 1:45Speaker 5: The players first, Oh, I thought you were talking about us. Oh,
- 1:48Speaker 5: I'll guess we matter a lot.
- 1:49Speaker 4: We're all dying to know if you've got the Lego
- 1:51Speaker 4: Orcah dues.
- 1:54Speaker 7: No oh, I got slippers, two button down shirts pot
- 2:00Speaker 7: as Alex mentioned as well, love everything but toys. I'm
- 2:03Speaker 7: gonna I'm gonna take the hook though, I'm gonna take Denver.
- 2:05Speaker 7: I'll take that extra half point. I think it's a
- 2:07Speaker 7: close one, Mike.
- 2:08Speaker 6: I just wanted to congratulate you for using all of
- 2:10Speaker 6: those terms properly.
- 2:11Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 2:12Speaker 6: This is Patriots Unfiltered.

- 2:21Speaker 4: the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday, New Year's Eve here
- 2:25Speaker 4: at je Let's Stadium. And uh, I don't know if
- 2:29Speaker 4: we want to talk about that last game, which it's Deuce,
- 2:32Speaker 4: it's even, it's Paul, it's me, it's Matt Nabooth forty
- 2:36Speaker 4: to seven loss to the Chargers. Not good, not good.
- 2:41Speaker 6: No, yeah, nothing good.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Yeah at home, just just just terrible. So I don't know,
- 2:47Speaker 4: I think maybe we turn the page from that game, because,
- 2:51Speaker 4: as Gerard said afterwards, there's nothing good to be taken
- 2:54Speaker 4: from that game.
- 2:55Speaker 7: So col Stranger snaps at center.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Except for that. Maybe yep, but you know, maybe we
- 3:02Speaker 4: start talking about the game coming up against the Bills
- 3:05Speaker 4: and the ramifications of winning versus losing playing Drake May
- 3:09Speaker 4: versus not playing Drake May. What do you guys think?
- 3:11Speaker 4: I don't know, unless there's something you want to get
- 3:14Speaker 4: off your chest.
- 3:15Speaker 6: People want to call in about the specific things about
- 3:18Speaker 6: the game, certainly we can go back to them. But
- 3:20Speaker 6: I think that's the number one storyline right now is
- 3:24Speaker 6: what how you're going to treat this game. And I
- 3:26Speaker 6: know people have strong feelings about it. The number the
- 3:29Speaker 6: number one pick is more important, and keeping Drake May
- 3:33Speaker 6: healthy is more important, and all that stuff people feel
- 3:35Speaker 6: strongly about it.
- 3:36Speaker 5: I have taken that the number one story, but it's
- 3:39Speaker 5: definitely today.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Well yeah, what would you say, is the number one
- 3:43Speaker 4: story the future?
- 3:45Speaker 6: Probably, So we're not going to know about that until
- 3:47Speaker 6: next week.
- 3:48Speaker 4: We'll take first things first.
- 3:50Speaker 6: That is what you were talking about.
- 3:51Speaker 4: What happens after this game?
- 3:53Speaker 5: What happens Monday morning?
- 3:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:55Speaker 5: I just think the biggest thing with this Chargers game,
- 3:57Speaker 5: just quickly, that was the only thing you could not
- 4:01Speaker 5: do if you were a Jiradmeo and this staff was
- 4:04Speaker 5: laying an egg on Sunday, like if you were just
- 4:08Speaker 5: repeated the exact same game you played in Buffalo, even
- 4:11Speaker 5: you know some of the other games where they were
- 4:14Speaker 5: competitive but not really like all you had to do
- 4:16Speaker 5: was was have you know, put your best put foot
- 4:19Speaker 5: forward and show face in that game on Sunday. But
- 4:22Speaker 5: laying an egg puts everything back on you think it.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Was just simply outplayed, out coached or was there just
- 4:28Speaker 4: something else that contributed to this performance.
- 4:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I I think there's a lot of things that
- 4:35Speaker 5: contributed to it. But yeah, I just think that in
- 4:38Speaker 5: terms of want to effort, that's certainly there. In terms
- 4:41Speaker 5: of talent that's certainly there, and in terms of x's
- 4:44Speaker 5: and o's like that, they got out coached on really
- 4:47Speaker 5: both sides of the ball, but especially defensively. I would say,
- 4:50Speaker 5: you know, they just they have no CounterPunch defensively. You know,
- 4:54Speaker 5: teams know they're gonna play man to man coverage. You know,
- 4:56Speaker 5: they have their man beaters ready for them every single week.
- 4:59Speaker 5: And if they play good man coverage, they have a
- 5:01Speaker 5: decent defensive game. If they play bad man coverage, they
- 5:04Speaker 5: give up forty points, you know, and that there's really
- 5:06Speaker 5: no in between there. And on Sunday they did not
- 5:10Speaker 5: cover well, and that's what happens.
- 5:12Speaker 7: Yep, no rush either.
- 5:14Speaker 4: I mean, it's no complimentary football.
- 5:16Speaker 7: It's just tough because I'm saying to Evan, like, you know,
- 5:19Speaker 7: usually even in the last couple of seasons have been hard,
- 5:21Speaker 7: been you know, not great, but there's still been like
- 5:24Speaker 7: elements that are interesting to go back and look at,
- 5:26Speaker 7: or you know, like, oh, why, you know, why isn't
- 5:28Speaker 7: the third down defense quite up? You know, like elements
- 5:30Speaker 7: that are interesting and there's just nothing interesting right now
- 5:34Speaker 7: to break down or to go back, or they just
- 5:36Speaker 7: they're bad across the board. I mean every single important
- 5:39Speaker 7: statistic that that I look at or track, they're in
- 5:42Speaker 7: the bottom three to five of the league and everything
- 5:45Speaker 7: red zone, third down pressure rate, EPA, DVOA. I mean,
- 5:50Speaker 7: across the board, both sides of the ball. Yeah, right, alright,
- 5:53Speaker 7: I'm sure they'd be down there too though.
- 5:56Speaker 6: So all of that is absolutely true. The thing that
- 6:01Speaker 6: was really strange to me about this game was usually
- 6:03Speaker 6: they've had a handful of real stinkers the last two years.
- 6:06Speaker 6: I mean, when four games last year they have three
- 6:09Speaker 6: wins right now, but generally when they get blasted like
- 6:12Speaker 6: that on the school board, it's because of a mess
- 6:14Speaker 6: of turnovers. You know, I think of that Saints game
- 6:17Speaker 6: last year, the thirty four to nven game, the Cowboys
- 6:20Speaker 6: game that had like the pick six is, Yeah, that
- 6:23Speaker 6: wasn't this. This this game, in a lot of ways
- 6:26Speaker 6: was more alarming because there was the one turnover there
- 6:31Speaker 6: on the on the botched pitch there. I don't know
- 6:33Speaker 6: if it was an aboorded play or what exactly happened
- 6:35Speaker 6: on that, but this wasn't a mess of turnovers. This
- 6:39Speaker 6: was one team got the ball, drove it down the
- 6:41Speaker 6: field and scored. Then they stopped you from moving the ball,
- 6:43Speaker 6: got the ball back and went down the field and
- 6:45Speaker 6: scored seven times in a row.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Yep, yep.
- 6:48Speaker 6: You know, like this was just it was dominance.
- 6:51Speaker 4: You are just outmatched.
- 6:52Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's you know the seven times in a row.
- 6:54Speaker 5: Same thing happened against the Rams. The Rams, I think
- 6:56Speaker 5: scored seven drives in a row. So that just there's
- 6:59Speaker 5: the adjustments, the lack of just coaching on the defensive
- 7:02Speaker 5: side of the ball. They are just not a well
- 7:04Speaker 5: coached defense right now. And you look at a lot
- 7:08Speaker 5: of the different things that you see in terms of
- 7:10Speaker 5: like even fundamentals, you know, tackling, taking on blocks, I discipline, like,
- 7:15Speaker 5: these are just things that you've been coached at since
- 7:18Speaker 5: you know, high school that they just don't do well
- 7:21Speaker 5: right now across the board on the defense. So I
- 7:24Speaker 5: just keep on watching the film on offense, and I'm like,
- 7:27Speaker 5: I mean, they just don't really have players, Like what
- 7:29Speaker 5: do you expect?
- 7:30Speaker 4: And that's the thing. Like after the game on our
- 7:33Speaker 4: post game show, I wasn't overly like depressed, disappointed or surprised.
- 7:38Speaker 4: I this is who they are. We're not a good team.
- 7:42Speaker 4: And when you play against a Chargers team had a
- 7:46Speaker 4: lot to play for a really good coach. This is
- 7:49Speaker 4: what could happen, and it did. And so I wasn't like, oh,
- 7:53Speaker 4: I can't believe this happened. No, No, we got a
- 7:56Speaker 4: lot of work to do in the offseason. In that game,
- 8:00Speaker 4: you know, you know, just show that.
- 8:02Speaker 6: I guess I was just a little surprised with how
- 8:07Speaker 6: how much the Chargers dominated because I didn't think the
- 8:10Speaker 6: Chargers were quote unquote that good. If that had been Buffalo,
- 8:14Speaker 6: you know, or you know, or I would have said, yeah,
- 8:16Speaker 6: well this is you know, this is that much of
- 8:18Speaker 6: a difference between that you did if they played Baltimore
- 8:20Speaker 6: and got blasted like that or Detroit. You know, you
- 8:23Speaker 6: could sort of understand it. I think the charge are good.
- 8:25Speaker 6: I think everything you said about Hardwall is absolutely true.
- 8:28Speaker 6: I think he's a good coach. But they they made
- 8:32Speaker 6: the Chargers look like a Super Bowl contender in that game,
- 8:35Speaker 6: and I don't think that's what that team is yet.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, I mean that's a season high in points
- 8:39Speaker 5: for them.
- 8:39Speaker 6: They were season high in a lot of categories. First downs, yards, points.
- 8:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean they came in nineteenth in the league
- 8:45Speaker 5: and scoring fifteenth and dvoa on offense, like, they don't
- 8:49Speaker 5: run away from teams like that.
- 8:51Speaker 6: And lately their offense has been like seventeen seventeen seventeen.
- 8:55Speaker 6: They had the thirty i think thirty four against the
- 8:58Speaker 6: Broncos on the Thursday night game. Yeah. But also defensively,
- 9:03Speaker 6: the Chargers defense has been good most of the year,
- 9:05Speaker 6: but it's been struggling lately. So that really stood out
- 9:09Speaker 6: to me too, that the Patriots couldn't move the ball
- 9:11Speaker 6: at all against a defense that I think is good,
- 9:14Speaker 6: but they made it look great.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Did you cob a Harbaugh against a rookie coach?
- 9:17Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, did you feel a rookie quarterback and coach.
- 9:20Speaker 6: But har was an offensive coach.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Nobody he's a coach. He's a good coach.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Yes it is.
- 9:26Speaker 7: Do you think that the may injury threw things off though,
- 9:29Speaker 7: like that's.
- 9:29Speaker 6: You know maybe, but they went three and out on
- 9:31Speaker 6: their first drive. I didn't think or anything happened.
- 9:34Speaker 5: I didn't think I thought it threw him off his
- 9:36Speaker 5: rhythm a little bit. I did. I mean, like, I'm
- 9:38Speaker 5: not saying they're going to score thirty points if he
- 9:41Speaker 5: doesn't get hurt. But he this was my worst game
- 9:44Speaker 5: for him. I thought, you know, didn't have the turnovers
- 9:47Speaker 5: like he had in some of the other games, but
- 9:49Speaker 5: just seeing the field, you know, seeing blitzes, like understanding
- 9:52Speaker 5: when blitzers were coming and things like that where he
- 9:54Speaker 5: was going with the football. You know, he had a
- 9:56Speaker 5: lot of reps in this game against the blitz that
- 9:58Speaker 5: were like Caleb Besk where he's just kind of running
- 10:01Speaker 5: backwards and I don't ever want to like see that.
- 10:04Speaker 5: I mean, that's not that's taking fifteen yard sacks on
- 10:07Speaker 5: fourth and two. It is not typical of Drake may.
- 10:10Speaker 5: So I thought that he was a little overwhelmed by
- 10:13Speaker 5: my mintor a little bit in this game.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Okay, so do you play May this week?
- 10:18Speaker 6: You have takes? Yeah, why don't you lead us off
- 10:20Speaker 6: with you a take?
- 10:20Speaker 4: I say no, I say you played Joe Milton. I'm
- 10:23Speaker 4: very surprised for a lot of reasons. Yes, I want
- 10:28Speaker 4: May to get every rep he can, but in this
- 10:30Speaker 4: particular game, there is nothing to see with Drake May
- 10:35Speaker 4: that we probably haven't seen. I don't think there's anything
- 10:38Speaker 4: to gain. There's a lot to lose. Of course, the
- 10:41Speaker 4: first you know pick in the draft is something you
- 10:43Speaker 4: could lose. But you know, getting him banged up is
- 10:47Speaker 4: another thing. Plus, all each season we've been hearing about
- 10:51Speaker 4: how good a teammate Joe Milton's been in practice. You know,
- 10:54Speaker 4: he's been on the scout team. He's really helped the
- 10:56Speaker 4: team throwing the bone, throw my bone. At the end
- 10:58Speaker 4: of the season, let him, let him have a game,
- 11:01Speaker 4: you know, reward the guy for a good season of
- 11:04Speaker 4: support and give him this game. You know, so you
- 11:09Speaker 4: benefit that way, And again there's nothing to really benefit
- 11:13Speaker 4: on the other side other than football players play football.
- 11:16Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't know. I'd be okay with starting May.
- 11:19Speaker 7: I'd love to see Milton come in maybe near the end.
- 11:22Speaker 7: So I guess I'm a little bit in the middle.
- 11:24Speaker 7: But I don't know. I just I'd like to continue
- 11:26Speaker 7: to see Drake develop. I'd like to see him make
- 11:28Speaker 7: a couple of plays and get in there and you know,
- 11:30Speaker 7: take some positive things from this game into the offseason,
- 11:33Speaker 7: rather than you know, that Buffalo game being kind of
- 11:36Speaker 7: the end.
- 11:36Speaker 4: It's like what you know, like, let's just say he
- 11:39Speaker 4: has a good game, all right, Well, it's all bills
- 11:42Speaker 4: back up and and all that. You know, Like, I
- 11:45Speaker 4: don't know, is there really that much to gain from
- 11:48Speaker 4: having him play?
- 11:49Speaker 7: No, I mean probably not tangible, not tangibly. But at
- 11:53Speaker 7: the same time, like this is a team that has
- 11:55Speaker 7: a long, long way to go, and he's got to
- 11:57Speaker 7: play games. He's got to understand how to be an
- 11:59Speaker 7: NFL quarterback and there's gonna be games like this.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Like I don't know.
- 12:02Speaker 7: I mean, I'm I can be probably suaded. I'd I'd
- 12:06Speaker 7: like to see him practice. I don't need to see
- 12:09Speaker 7: him play the whole game. And I mean, I you
- 12:11Speaker 7: want to say, what is really to gain? I can't
- 12:13Speaker 7: really push back too heavily on that other than just
- 12:16Speaker 7: this team's got a long way to go, and I
- 12:17Speaker 7: want to continue to see this kid play and develop
- 12:19Speaker 7: and you know, get meaningful reps rather than all right,
- 12:22Speaker 7: that's it, he's gonna shut down tomorrow. He's going to
- 12:23Speaker 7: be the backup. I mean, it's kind of if.
- 12:25Speaker 4: That's what I've been saying all seasons, starting from week one.
- 12:28Speaker 4: But now we've got to this point where you do
- 12:30Speaker 4: have the first pick possibly on the line.
- 12:36Speaker 6: I don't worry as much about that, and I think
- 12:38Speaker 6: Evan's probably with you, Fred, But in terms, it's more
- 12:42Speaker 6: in terms of making sure you get him to the
- 12:43Speaker 6: finish line. And in my mind, I am thinking, like, man,
- 12:48Speaker 6: if you were to suffer like a torn acl that
- 12:51Speaker 6: would be just the worst possible scenario, and all the
- 12:57Speaker 6: stuff that Mike and I think, because I think Mike
- 12:59Speaker 6: and I are on play May side and you guys
- 13:01Speaker 6: are probably on the other side. And I think the
- 13:03Speaker 6: reason why Mike and I can probably be persuaded is
- 13:06Speaker 6: because of the state of the game. Like if they
- 13:09Speaker 6: were playing just a regular team, if they were playing
- 13:12Speaker 6: another team that was eliminated, yep, you know, if they
- 13:14Speaker 6: were playing in Cleveland, I would say, Drake May plays
- 13:17Speaker 6: just play this like a regular game, but you're not
- 13:19Speaker 6: even going to see the other team. Then they're going
- 13:22Speaker 6: to rest as many guys as they possibly can, right, Yeah,
- 13:25Speaker 6: I mean they've already talked about Josh Allen's going to start.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Only just to keep the record, just to keep his street. Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 6: So I don't even know how much you can get
- 13:34Speaker 6: out of playing may in terms of evaluation, because it's
- 13:37Speaker 6: gonna be kind of like a glorified preseason game. So
- 13:40Speaker 6: you guys can convince me that maybe sitting him is
- 13:43Speaker 6: the right thing.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Yeah, if you want to treat it like a preseason
- 13:45Speaker 5: game where he plays half or whatever and you see
- 13:48Speaker 5: how it goes, and maybe if he has a couple
- 13:50Speaker 5: of great drives or what like. I guess I'm not
- 13:53Speaker 5: going to sit here and say, you know, be afraid
- 13:55Speaker 5: of playing him, but I just I guess I woant
- 13:58Speaker 5: to go as far as some of you know, the
- 14:00Speaker 5: other people on the beat have gone. With how much
- 14:02Speaker 5: of a coaching now practice it would be to play
- 14:04Speaker 5: him on Sunday.
- 14:05Speaker 4: I'm not saying oh yeah, I'm not saying that either.
- 14:08Speaker 6: But I don't I don't get that mentality.
- 14:10Speaker 5: Yeah, but I think there's a lot to lose and
- 14:12Speaker 5: not a lot to gain, and the biggest thing to
- 14:16Speaker 5: me that they have to lose is him getting hurt.
- 14:18Speaker 5: Like I really don't care as much about the number
- 14:20Speaker 5: one pick as I do about his health because this
- 14:22Speaker 5: is this is a big off season. It's the year two,
- 14:25Speaker 5: Like he needs to be training, and he needs to
- 14:28Speaker 5: be working on his craft, and he needs to have
- 14:30Speaker 5: a whole training camp and a whole preseason next summer
- 14:33Speaker 5: and all that kind of stuff. Like if he gets
- 14:35Speaker 5: seriously injured in this meaningless game and then all of
- 14:38Speaker 5: a sudden we're talking about him not coming back till
- 14:40Speaker 5: halfway through next year off of a torn acl or
- 14:43Speaker 5: something like that, like now to forget about twenty twenty five. Also,
- 14:47Speaker 5: like now that season's gone too. So I just think
- 14:50Speaker 5: that's the biggest thing to me is injury risk and
- 14:53Speaker 5: right weighing the risk reward of him playing in this
- 14:55Speaker 5: game in that sense.
- 14:56Speaker 7: Yeah, I just like Paul's point about going against Bill's
- 14:59Speaker 7: backups like that to me is the major factor where
- 15:02Speaker 7: it's hard to like even take even if Hen went
- 15:04Speaker 7: out there and lit it up a big ya, but you.
- 15:07Speaker 6: Know it's going to be like, well, yeah, he won
- 15:10Speaker 6: that game. It's gonna be like the Jets.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Game if he loses that game.
- 15:14Speaker 6: I don't put any more stock in that either. I know,
- 15:17Speaker 6: you know because you because you easily could say, well
- 15:19Speaker 6: that that's what they wanted. They didn't. They didn't necessarily
- 15:22Speaker 6: put their best footfaward because they wanted to maintain the
- 15:24Speaker 6: draft status.
- 15:25Speaker 4: So this is just nothing to get.
- 15:27Speaker 6: We just taped all access in one of the elements
- 15:29Speaker 6: that that Steve Burton asked Mike, and I was like,
- 15:32Speaker 6: is this kind of like a just a no win
- 15:34Speaker 6: situation for Gerrod Mayo, Like he's damned if he does,
- 15:37Speaker 6: damned if he doesn't, pretty much, and he's kind of
- 15:39Speaker 6: It's a it's a tricky needle to try to thread.
- 15:42Speaker 6: Like maybe you want to go out play well, win
- 15:45Speaker 6: the game, keep make sure that Drake may is healthy,
- 15:49Speaker 6: and then somehow like the Giants and these other teams
- 15:53Speaker 6: win two. So you keep the number one pick, You
- 15:56Speaker 6: get me to play, he plays well, you feel a
- 15:58Speaker 6: little bit better about yourself in a miserable year, he's healthy, nothing,
- 16:02Speaker 6: you know, nothing happened.
- 16:03Speaker 4: And you still get the first pack and.
- 16:04Speaker 6: You still get the first pick. So like that's a
- 16:06Speaker 6: hard sort of path to stay on.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Is the first pick that important?
- 16:11Speaker 6: I don't really think so. I think Evan feels the same.
- 16:14Speaker 6: Like I don't know, you guys, can I get it.
- 16:16Speaker 6: It's more valuable to have the one in that way,
- 16:19Speaker 6: if someone at like three or four feels like they
- 16:22Speaker 6: need to get in front of the giants, they need
- 16:23Speaker 6: to go to you to do that. So I guess
- 16:25Speaker 6: there's some value there.
- 16:26Speaker 4: I just the worst case they get their fourth.
- 16:29Speaker 6: Yeah, I think if they win and other teams win,
- 16:31Speaker 6: I lose, then they go.
- 16:33Speaker 4: I'm talking about all the worst things happen. The worst
- 16:35Speaker 4: they can pick is full.
- 16:37Speaker 6: That's how I understand it.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think it's the end all be all
- 16:42Speaker 5: to be picking number one overall in the draft like this,
- 16:45Speaker 5: I'll say, and if I'm wrong, like in April, I'm wrong,
- 16:49Speaker 5: But this is not a quarterback draft. I keep on
- 16:52Speaker 5: saying this, and everybody says, oh, well, the quarterbacks will
- 16:54Speaker 5: get pumped up and the you know Shador Sanders, you know,
- 16:57Speaker 5: the marketing campaign will start for him with Dion and
- 17:00Speaker 5: he'll get pumped up to a number one overall pick.
- 17:02Speaker 5: And maybe that happens, but you're not getting a king's
- 17:05Speaker 5: ransom for the number one.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Well, that's the thing, you know, Like I know, I've heard,
- 17:09Speaker 4: you know a lot of fans saying, no, you got
- 17:11Speaker 4: a trade down. You got to trade down, keep that
- 17:13Speaker 4: first pick so that you know you get the most
- 17:16Speaker 4: you can get in a trade down. But I think
- 17:18Speaker 4: compared to other years, you may not get the offers
- 17:21Speaker 4: you think you're gonna get.
- 17:22Speaker 5: No, and Dan Bruger from the Athletic I was just
- 17:25Speaker 5: looking at that because if you don't want to take
- 17:28Speaker 5: my word for it, you know he's the best in
- 17:30Speaker 5: the business when it comes to the draft. And he
- 17:32Speaker 5: said that, you know, a teams view this quarterback class
- 17:35Speaker 5: like Shador Sanders would be quarterback seven and last year's
- 17:38Speaker 5: class like behind bo Nix and JJ McCarthy. And then
- 17:42Speaker 5: he also said that he'd be shocked if they got,
- 17:45Speaker 5: you know, a Bears like package for the number one
- 17:48Speaker 5: pick this year because of that. So if you're the Patriots,
- 17:52Speaker 5: it doesn't make a difference if you pick your guy
- 17:55Speaker 5: at one or your guy at three, Like I don't
- 17:57Speaker 5: necessarily think so, but it's always nice to have the
- 18:00Speaker 5: better pick.
- 18:01Speaker 6: Obviously, he had quotes from you know, obviously scouts, anonymous scouts,
- 18:08Speaker 6: and they said that there are two quarterbacks. One guy said,
- 18:12Speaker 6: there are two quarterbacks that are first round, but they
- 18:14Speaker 6: are late first round.
- 18:16Speaker 4: Value, cam Ward and shaudor right.
- 18:18Speaker 6: But they're late first round value. And another guy said
- 18:23Speaker 6: that they did not even and that not even that
- 18:26Speaker 6: high on them. So if you take that at face value,
- 18:31Speaker 6: and that's the way that most people look at the draft,
- 18:33Speaker 6: I can't really envision a team at like six or
- 18:36Speaker 6: seven saying I need to do anything I can to
- 18:39Speaker 6: get in front of the Giants to prevent them from
- 18:42Speaker 6: taking you to a Sanders so I can take them.
- 18:44Speaker 6: If that's how they thought of.
- 18:45Speaker 4: Do you think the whole Jets Giants thing has any
- 18:48Speaker 4: play in this? I mean, because it's kind of a rivalry.
- 18:51Speaker 4: They're what they're fighting for is fan base in the
- 18:55Speaker 4: same market, and both teams need a quarterback. Do you
- 18:59Speaker 4: think that that might come into play at all?
- 19:02Speaker 7: I mean, I hope so, because I mean I think
- 19:04Speaker 7: right now, if you're sitting at one, is there any
- 19:06Speaker 7: other choice than Travis Hunter? I mean, and not to
- 19:08Speaker 7: say that I'm totally that sucks, Like he's a really
- 19:10Speaker 7: good player and I think you could help this team,
- 19:12Speaker 7: But is there any other choice? If you can't trade
- 19:14Speaker 7: out a one.
- 19:15Speaker 4: I would take Travis Hunter at one. But that's my
- 19:18Speaker 4: other take.
- 19:19Speaker 7: Who else would be worthy of that?
- 19:20Speaker 6: If you were Freddy Spring takes Tim like that.
- 19:22Speaker 5: If you're absolutely stuck at one, Yeah, I take Travis Hunting. Yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 5: I don't love it, right, but I mean, I guess
- 19:30Speaker 5: you kind of have to.
- 19:31Speaker 6: Think he's the best player in the draft.
- 19:32Speaker 4: Player in the draft. Yeah, take him. Figure it out.
- 19:35Speaker 4: You get him in here and figure it out.
- 19:36Speaker 5: I I don't think that he's It's not who I
- 19:40Speaker 5: would want if I had a number one pick, Like,
- 19:43Speaker 5: it's kind of it's just stinky.
- 19:45Speaker 4: You want a blue chip the number one.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Well, that's my biggest fear of taking one of these
- 19:50Speaker 5: tackles number one, just because that's your biggest need, is
- 19:53Speaker 5: that he turns into just kind of a met player
- 19:55Speaker 5: like Eric Fisher was, and and it's like, all right,
- 19:57Speaker 5: well what are you going to do? Like, at least
- 19:59Speaker 5: if you take the swing on Travis Hunter, if it hits,
- 20:02Speaker 5: it's going to be an absolute home run. You know,
- 20:03Speaker 5: he's going to be a generational player for you. I
- 20:06Speaker 5: don't know if these tackles are so so.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Getting back to my question, do you think that the
- 20:12Speaker 4: Jets Giants thing could raise the stock of a quarterback,
- 20:18Speaker 4: whether it's Ward or Sanders.
- 20:22Speaker 7: I think so, I mean possible last year. I mean
- 20:24Speaker 7: there was there were some surprises last year guys going
- 20:27Speaker 7: higher than I mean, I I just wouldn't roll it out.
- 20:29Speaker 7: I just my question though, was just would it be
- 20:31Speaker 7: easier if you're at like three or four to trade
- 20:34Speaker 7: down and get some picks rather than one? Like what's
- 20:36Speaker 7: easier to trade this year? One or three? You know,
- 20:40Speaker 7: it doesn't matter.
- 20:41Speaker 4: I don't know if it matters.
- 20:42Speaker 5: I think you're gonna have the same value at one
- 20:44Speaker 5: as you in other years you might have had at three.
- 20:47Speaker 4: You know. So what I'm trying to lead to is,
- 20:49Speaker 4: I know, I know Paul is going to jump ugly
- 20:51Speaker 4: on me here. No.
- 20:52Speaker 6: I was just watching but commercial.
- 20:55Speaker 4: But you know, trade if you're the Patriots and if
- 21:01Speaker 4: you're the Jets, Jets want to jump over the Giants
- 21:04Speaker 4: because they want to get a quarterback. This is the scenario.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Would you if you're the Jets, offer Garrett Wilson, who's disgruntled,
- 21:13Speaker 4: and Quinn Williams and a third round pick, you don't
- 21:17Speaker 4: give up a first for the Patriots first. And if
- 21:20Speaker 4: you're the Patriots, would you do that? Where were the
- 21:22Speaker 4: Jets six or seven?
- 21:25Speaker 6: I wouldn't give up that much to move up four, five, five,
- 21:29Speaker 6: six spots.
- 21:30Speaker 4: You're not giving up your first round pick.
- 21:31Speaker 6: Yeah, but I'm giving up two of my best players, right,
- 21:33Speaker 6: but they're better than first round, especially Wilson who's young.
- 21:37Speaker 4: I knew you were going to do that, So think
- 21:38Speaker 4: about it, though, why are the Patriots doing this? Hold on?
- 21:41Speaker 4: So ah? So hold on now from the Jets perspective,
- 21:45Speaker 4: you get your quarterback, you keep your first round pick,
- 21:48Speaker 4: so I can replace one of Theoretically, I replaced one
- 21:51Speaker 4: of the guys I just gave up because I'm keeping
- 21:55Speaker 4: my first round pick.
- 21:57Speaker 6: No, not misdraft, You're not.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Why not?
- 21:59Speaker 4: Why not?
- 21:59Speaker 6: Because you're not replacing Quentin Williams and Garrett Wilson with
- 22:02Speaker 6: guys that people think aren't that good.
- 22:04Speaker 5: Well, I think Mason Graham and Ted McMillan are replacing them.
- 22:06Speaker 5: I don't know if it's on the same exact level.
- 22:08Speaker 6: I wouldn't. I mean, I just wouldn't do it. Okay,
- 22:10Speaker 6: So you wouldn't do that, Jets, I wouldn't do it. Now,
- 22:13Speaker 6: that's what I'm talking about Sanders. Are you kidding me?
- 22:18Speaker 5: Have a first round pick? Why would the Patriots do that?
- 22:21Speaker 6: Well, then it's an extra silly trade. If I wouldn't
- 22:25Speaker 6: even consider it. If I were the Jets, how.
- 22:27Speaker 5: Would the Patriots?
- 22:28Speaker 4: He wouldn't consider it.
- 22:29Speaker 6: If you're not gonna so it's not going to happen,
- 22:32Speaker 6: I would consider it.
- 22:34Speaker 4: So if you were not the if I'm the Patriots, you.
- 22:37Speaker 5: Would consider not picking in the first round this year?
- 22:39Speaker 4: Yes, because listen and hear me out. Hear me out,
- 22:42Speaker 4: I'll hear you out. Players sure fire first round players.
- 22:48Speaker 5: That neither one play left tackle.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Okay, but I'm getting listen, listen to me. I'm getting
- 22:53Speaker 4: too I'm getting too sure fire first round players. Right.
- 22:58Speaker 4: I lose my first round pick, but I pick up
- 23:00Speaker 4: a third, So now I have a second and three thirds.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Three thirds because remember we got a third.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Thirds are just like there. Okay, you're talking about thirds
- 23:10Speaker 6: like the valuable.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Pretty good players have been picked in the third round.
- 23:15Speaker 4: But I got I have my second, and I have
- 23:18Speaker 4: three thirds, and I have two new first round players
- 23:21Speaker 4: that I've added to my team. Absolutely not, absolutely not
- 23:25Speaker 4: what he wouldn't do it.
- 23:26Speaker 5: I would not do that if you're the Patriots, like
- 23:29Speaker 5: right now, you.
- 23:30Speaker 4: You needed tap players, and I've guaranteed to pick up
- 23:34Speaker 4: at least two.
- 23:35Speaker 5: I mean, I don't think Quentin Williams is the just
- 23:38Speaker 5: think about it.
- 23:39Speaker 4: I don't know what bar More status is for next year.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Ke On White, maybe I'm I'm jettising him, so I
- 23:47Speaker 4: need interior lineman Williams, you know, fills the boat.
- 23:51Speaker 6: I like your ideas, I just I'm I'm just not
- 23:55Speaker 6: sure that I should do as Sanders is worth giving
- 23:58Speaker 6: up your team.
- 23:59Speaker 5: I can't believe.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Well, that's the thing. I'm I'm assuming that the Jets
- 24:03Speaker 4: Giants rivalry has up the stock of Sanders.
- 24:07Speaker 6: Like I would have done this for Jayden Daniels last
- 24:10Speaker 6: year or Drake May last year. If I were the Jets,
- 24:12Speaker 6: I would I would strongly consider doing that. I just
- 24:15Speaker 6: don't think these guys are worth doing that for. Thus
- 24:18Speaker 6: me not necessarily being in love with the number one
- 24:21Speaker 6: overall pack, right, I don't think there's going to be
- 24:22Speaker 6: the same amount of value.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Obviously, if neither the Jets or Giants think highly of
- 24:27Speaker 4: either of these quarterbacks, the whole thing is moved because
- 24:31Speaker 4: it it it hinges on you know, the Jets loving
- 24:37Speaker 4: Sanders and believing that the Giants do too, and needing
- 24:41Speaker 4: to get up over us to get it.
- 24:43Speaker 6: And now I think you could convince yourself, like if
- 24:45Speaker 6: you're sitting at seven and Shadua Sanders falls to seven, Like,
- 24:49Speaker 6: you know, I can take a wide receiver, but I
- 24:52Speaker 6: don't have anybody to throw them all. I could take
- 24:54Speaker 6: an offensive lineman. I mean, I just took an offensive
- 24:56Speaker 6: lineman last year and he really panned out. He's been
- 24:58Speaker 6: a good player for like, you know what I'm gonna take.
- 25:03Speaker 6: I'll talk myself into it. That makes sense to me.
- 25:05Speaker 6: But like trading up and losing assets for a guy
- 25:08Speaker 6: that I'm not sure about doesn't make a lot of sense.
- 25:11Speaker 6: Some of them will probably be interested in doing it.
- 25:13Speaker 6: You guys are right, someone will convince themselves. The Dion
- 25:17Speaker 6: hype train will get Shadoor Sanders, you know on everybody's mind.
- 25:23Speaker 7: I like the creativity trying to get it will create
- 25:25Speaker 7: like those I mean those that that's I think kind
- 25:28Speaker 7: of some of the moves they got to think about.
- 25:29Speaker 4: I'm worried about bar War. I'm worried about the interior
- 25:32Speaker 4: of that.
- 25:35Speaker 6: That's an enormous need.
- 25:37Speaker 4: I mean, all of a sudden, interior line is whole
- 25:40Speaker 4: front seven D T.
- 25:41Speaker 7: One Like I would, I would make that up an
- 25:43Speaker 7: absolute part.
- 25:44Speaker 5: One defensive tackle.
- 25:46Speaker 7: You know they need that.
- 25:48Speaker 5: Too, would say defensive Like you have defensive tackle.
- 25:52Speaker 7: I think you need a guy. I think you need
- 25:54Speaker 7: a guy. I'd go get one in free agency. I
- 25:56Speaker 7: mean I think that's fine. I mean, but I would
- 25:59Speaker 7: say Edge absolutely, But who do you have? You got
- 26:03Speaker 7: your one guy who can play interior at an NFL
- 26:06Speaker 7: level right now? You know, I think that's I think
- 26:09Speaker 7: you can.
- 26:09Speaker 5: Sign those types of guys though in free agency. I
- 26:11Speaker 5: don't like that line of thinking.
- 26:13Speaker 7: Evan, I want an impact. I want somebody good.
- 26:15Speaker 4: But like, how did you get Godshaw?
- 26:18Speaker 6: Well, that's not an impact guy, but like it's a
- 26:20Speaker 6: guy who plays the defensive line at an NFL.
- 26:24Speaker 4: In the NFL?
- 26:25Speaker 6: Say, and I did too.
- 26:29Speaker 5: I think I think Edges is to me would be
- 26:32Speaker 5: where you get your impact guy. Like, I think that's
- 26:34Speaker 5: a much more important spot.
- 26:35Speaker 6: You can make an argument of quality played better than
- 26:37Speaker 6: Godcha this year, like I would. That's I wouldn't either,
- 26:41Speaker 6: But people have I mean, there you're real your analytics guys.
- 26:45Speaker 5: No, I don't take credit for any of those.
- 26:47Speaker 6: No, I know you always cut ties when you don't
- 26:49Speaker 6: agree with them, which I like.
- 26:50Speaker 5: If you're talking. If you're talking, you've lost me.
- 26:54Speaker 6: That doesn't I don't know. I don't know that PFF
- 26:57Speaker 6: one of those.
- 26:58Speaker 5: I don't think you're thirtieth in the league in pressure
- 27:00Speaker 5: eight because of defensive tackle play. Maybe the run defense
- 27:03Speaker 5: of the defensive tackle play, but that's because you've got
- 27:06Speaker 5: nobody coming off the edge like you got. You gotta
- 27:08Speaker 5: truly invest in replacing Jude On, you know, with a
- 27:12Speaker 5: real ed drusher and a finishf.
- 27:15Speaker 6: W that we got today that wanted to trade with
- 27:17Speaker 6: the Giants. Oh no, switch spots with the Giants from
- 27:21Speaker 6: two to one and get Elik Neighbors.
- 27:23Speaker 5: These people just like, okay, I can't within a quarterback
- 27:26Speaker 5: and give away our best I'm interested in that, you know,
- 27:30Speaker 5: the Raiders. One is brock Bowers, Like, you're not getting
- 27:33Speaker 5: the leak Neighbors. You're not getting brock Bowers, Like.
- 27:36Speaker 6: Why not trying to like think about like Michael Meyer
- 27:39Speaker 6: not like brock Bowers isn't going with But maybe they
- 27:41Speaker 6: don't think that they need both of them. If I
- 27:43Speaker 6: were the Raiders. I would build my offense around those
- 27:46Speaker 6: two guys. But that's that's me.
- 27:48Speaker 5: But it may be, you know, the best case scenario
- 27:50Speaker 5: from the Raiders I think is like maybe you know,
- 27:52Speaker 5: Max Crosby has had enough of that organization and the
- 27:56Speaker 5: wiki plan, Yeah, and he wants out like that, that's
- 27:59Speaker 5: the best case scenario. But friend, you've got to make
- 28:01Speaker 5: a first round pick. You can't. You can't not make
- 28:03Speaker 5: a first round pick. I mean, those are That's how
- 28:06Speaker 5: bad teams stay bad is when you don't make it round.
- 28:09Speaker 4: You're bringing in two first rounds.
- 28:11Speaker 5: Yeah, but you're you're bringing in You're not though, you're
- 28:13Speaker 5: bringing in two guys that are twenty seven years old,
- 28:16Speaker 5: twenty five, twenty six years old.
- 28:17Speaker 6: That's not old that are gonna needs that are gonna
- 28:21Speaker 6: be only three years in the league.
- 28:22Speaker 5: Yeah, he's twenty five and you're gonna need to pay
- 28:24Speaker 5: him thirty million dollars a year.
- 28:26Speaker 6: So he was an old guy coming out of college,
- 28:28Speaker 6: you know, But like that's old nowadays.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Well yeah, if you know, if you don't stay.
- 28:32Speaker 5: But but the point is is that you know, t.
- 28:35Speaker 6: Higgins is only twenty five.
- 28:36Speaker 5: Yeah, you're just you're talking about you know guys that
- 28:40Speaker 5: are paid people like you're you're talking about contracts that
- 28:44Speaker 5: are already hitting the top of the market right now. Like,
- 28:48Speaker 5: if you want to rebuild this team correctly, like you
- 28:50Speaker 5: have to build through the draft and to not make
- 28:52Speaker 5: a first round pick like that. I don't know how
- 28:54Speaker 5: how you're not gonna You're not gonna build through the
- 28:57Speaker 5: draft that way. So, like, I just I get what
- 29:00Speaker 5: you're saying, Like it'd be great if they could get
- 29:02Speaker 5: you know, a trade down scenario like the Bears did,
- 29:04Speaker 5: where you throw in like a DJ Moore.
- 29:06Speaker 4: I still have four picks of the top three rounds.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Yeah, it doesn't do anything for me like those picks.
- 29:11Speaker 5: I I more, every every single year more, I find
- 29:16Speaker 5: it to be an absolute crime.
- 29:17Speaker 4: I don't know, man, I've brought I'm bringing in a
- 29:20Speaker 4: top wide receiver in a top interior alignement. And then,
- 29:25Speaker 4: like I said, I have four more.
- 29:27Speaker 5: Picks, But those picks don't mean anything like the third
- 29:30Speaker 5: round picks.
- 29:30Speaker 4: I could package up three and move into two and
- 29:32Speaker 4: have two two's or whatever. You know.
- 29:34Speaker 5: I guess. I mean it's not that trade's not gonna happen,
- 29:37Speaker 5: no offense like that.
- 29:39Speaker 6: But I don't see the Jets wanting to trade Garrett
- 29:42Speaker 6: Wilson to the Patriots.
- 29:43Speaker 4: I get he's disgruntled, right, Yeah.
- 29:45Speaker 6: No, I think there's a chance that he could get traded. Yeah,
- 29:48Speaker 6: but I just can't see the Jets trading him to
- 29:49Speaker 6: the Patriots.
- 29:50Speaker 4: Well, I know, I know, crazier things have happened.
- 29:53Speaker 6: No, I didn't say it's impossible. I just I don't
- 29:55Speaker 6: see it.
- 29:56Speaker 4: I'm just again, I'm relying on this Jets Giants thing
- 30:00Speaker 4: in both of them wanting Sanders. That's the only way
- 30:04Speaker 4: it would happen.
- 30:05Speaker 5: No, I like where your head's at in terms of
- 30:08Speaker 5: trying to get a veteran player as part of the package.
- 30:11Speaker 5: I just don't think that you can make that trade
- 30:13Speaker 5: without getting a first round pick.
- 30:14Speaker 6: And I also think trade a trade in particular is
- 30:18Speaker 6: very important in this offseason. I think they need to
- 30:22Speaker 6: find a way to acquire someone's disgruntled player like that
- 30:27Speaker 6: the way a lot of other teams have done it
- 30:29Speaker 6: in the last five years, especially because hekame Medcalf, somebody
- 30:33Speaker 6: that could be available. Yeah, like Max Crosby.
- 30:37Speaker 5: You brought up Crosby dk Metcalf, like you gotta if
- 30:40Speaker 5: you're not going to win free agency, because you're not
- 30:42Speaker 5: a draw right now. Then you've got to kind.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Of Crosby seven. Oh, that's he's young. Yeah, Like, why
- 30:48Speaker 4: do I think he's like thirty? I don't know. It
- 30:50Speaker 4: looks it seems like he's been around for a while.
- 30:52Speaker 3: I guess.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:52Speaker 6: It's a good player.
- 30:53Speaker 4: He is a good player. Yep. All right, So those
- 30:56Speaker 4: are some things that we're throwing out.
- 30:58Speaker 8: I like you.
- 30:58Speaker 6: I like your outside the box. I like your trade scenario.
- 31:02Speaker 6: I mean I don't.
- 31:02Speaker 5: Necessarily think about draft picks. Huh me, I know, not
- 31:07Speaker 5: a time like I mean, I do care good by
- 31:10Speaker 5: building the offensive line.
- 31:13Speaker 4: I just want to get good. I want to get
- 31:14Speaker 4: good as quickly as possible. And that way you're bringing
- 31:19Speaker 4: into too surefire first round value guys.
- 31:24Speaker 5: I just I just don't think that's how you get good.
- 31:26Speaker 5: But I think it's just a philosophical thing difference, you know,
- 31:30Speaker 5: Like I think the teams that have gotten good quickly
- 31:33Speaker 5: are are teams that draft well and.
- 31:35Speaker 6: Well they have to draft well. I don't think that that.
- 31:37Speaker 6: People don't think Fred's suggests.
- 31:40Speaker 5: How are you, how are you going to draft well?
- 31:41Speaker 6: Why can't you get why can't you tackle the second round.
- 31:44Speaker 6: You're at the top of the second round. Why can't
- 31:46Speaker 6: you hit on a linement there.
- 31:48Speaker 5: Because it doesn't happen?
- 31:49Speaker 4: Like, are you talking about what one every every every
- 31:53Speaker 4: player that one in every league round but one.
- 31:56Speaker 5: In every ten tackles that hits like good luck, like
- 31:58Speaker 5: go through a dart Like I just you know this
- 32:01Speaker 5: past year, we were also in your Patrick Paul and
- 32:05Speaker 5: all these guys they don't play.
- 32:06Speaker 4: You say you got to build through the draft. We
- 32:08Speaker 4: have one first round pick, yeah, and five years to
- 32:12Speaker 4: get what we want to do.
- 32:13Speaker 5: But no, but if you hit on this pick, or
- 32:16Speaker 5: if you trade down and you get a haul for
- 32:18Speaker 5: this pick like these are.
- 32:19Speaker 4: We just talked about you getting a Hall this year.
- 32:22Speaker 5: And you're also talking about it. It's gonna take multiple years.
- 32:25Speaker 6: I'm not sure you're going to be able to get
- 32:26Speaker 6: a future.
- 32:27Speaker 4: Round and you can, you can quicken the process a
- 32:30Speaker 4: little bit.
- 32:30Speaker 6: Like this draft. The way that people are talking. Again,
- 32:33Speaker 6: I don't know these things, so I go to the
- 32:37Speaker 6: Dame Bruglers of the world who do know this stuff.
- 32:39Speaker 6: A lot of trade scenarios I've seen. You're not even
- 32:42Speaker 6: able to get a future first round pick. Yeah, it's
- 32:44Speaker 6: you're trading down four spots to get a two and
- 32:48Speaker 6: three this year and a two next year and stuff
- 32:50Speaker 6: like that. Like, yeah, Evan doesn't want that because you
- 32:54Speaker 6: have to get the first round picks because everything else
- 32:56Speaker 6: is adey.
- 32:56Speaker 4: If you like, if you want to build through the draft,
- 32:59Speaker 4: you better be good in the second and third round.
- 33:02Speaker 4: You better.
- 33:02Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 33:03Speaker 5: Absolutely, I'm not banking on hitting on a tackle in
- 33:06Speaker 5: the second or third round. We've been doing that for
- 33:08Speaker 5: years and it doesn't work.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I'm telling whoever you pick.
- 33:10Speaker 6: You how many tackles are they taken in the second round.
- 33:13Speaker 5: They took a third round tackle last year to produce
- 33:16Speaker 5: in the third round.
- 33:17Speaker 6: A couple of years, third round guys the last second round,
- 33:21Speaker 6: Matt Light, Sebastian Vallmer, those guys worked out, okay.
- 33:24Speaker 5: They they also had Dante Scarneki coaching them on the offensive.
- 33:28Speaker 4: Well, that's the whole different subject. Like that's all part
- 33:31Speaker 4: of it.
- 33:34Speaker 5: That's part of the quarterback.
- 33:35Speaker 6: So Elliott Wolfe has said many many times, we want
- 33:39Speaker 6: to be a draft and developed team and everybody and
- 33:42Speaker 6: everybody only focuses on the draft.
- 33:45Speaker 4: What happens when they get you.
- 33:46Speaker 6: Because I refuse to believe that all of these guys
- 33:49Speaker 6: came into the league without the requisite talent. Jalen Polk
- 33:53Speaker 6: in the summer looked like he had NFL ability. Why
- 33:57Speaker 6: from July to December does he look like he doesn't
- 34:01Speaker 6: belong in the league?
- 34:02Speaker 7: Is that all his fault?
- 34:04Speaker 6: I mean, I put the majority of it on him,
- 34:06Speaker 6: because the players ultimately, you know, you see that police,
- 34:10Speaker 6: But I'm just I'm using it as an I.
- 34:13Speaker 4: Just have people need to care before they hate you.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Right now, you're not on that level. You're not You're
- 34:19Speaker 4: not there yet. He's got It's just like, what are
- 34:25Speaker 4: we doing here?
- 34:26Speaker 6: No, but Evan's right about the lack of structure, Like
- 34:30Speaker 6: Dante was able to take these guys and make them,
- 34:33Speaker 6: you know, probably better players than they were, and they're
- 34:36Speaker 6: not getting that now. So I recognize as far as
- 34:38Speaker 6: we know, well, they're not getting better. I mean they
- 34:41Speaker 6: just they just picked eight guys in the draft and
- 34:43Speaker 6: one of them looks like.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Another subject I want to get into is our evaluation
- 34:48Speaker 4: of these coaches. What are we basing it on? And
- 34:52Speaker 4: we'll talk about that.
- 34:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I don't I don't mean to like
- 34:55Speaker 5: get too fired up about this whole thing.
- 34:56Speaker 4: I just.
- 34:59Speaker 7: To the opposite.
- 35:00Speaker 6: That's what this is. No, no, no, no, this that's what
- 35:03Speaker 6: this is for.
- 35:04Speaker 5: I just as someone that that puts a lot into
- 35:07Speaker 5: the draft every single year. You fall in love with me.
- 35:10Speaker 4: And someone who puts in more than you guys. No, no, no,
- 35:13Speaker 4: I'm only into that.
- 35:15Speaker 5: But like I fall in love with with guys in
- 35:17Speaker 5: the second Like I really thought Kingsley su Mattia was
- 35:20Speaker 5: going to be a good NFL tackle and maybe he
- 35:22Speaker 5: still will be, play like three games, okay, but the
- 35:24Speaker 5: Chiefs are literally putting Joe Tooney.
- 35:27Speaker 6: He's not ready, clearly not ready to avoid playing him, right,
- 35:31Speaker 6: And Patrick Paul the other day was fine until they
- 35:34Speaker 6: started leaving him on an island with Miles GATHERERTT right,
- 35:36Speaker 6: and like which I'm sorry, that's bad coach, right.
- 35:40Speaker 5: But I like, I just I really am concerned about
- 35:45Speaker 5: you know, you can find receivers and you can find
- 35:48Speaker 5: pass rushers. You can find those guys in the veteran market.
- 35:51Speaker 5: Those guys move like the receivers get traded every off season.
- 35:55Speaker 6: Receivers, you can definitely right, they're moving a lot because
- 35:58Speaker 6: and they're always justsgruntled, right, we need one to get gruntled.
- 36:00Speaker 5: Right, So you look at this thing and you're like, Okay,
- 36:03Speaker 5: you can find you can make that receiver trade. You
- 36:06Speaker 5: can sign a T. Higgins, you can trade for a
- 36:09Speaker 5: DK Metcalf, Like where is the offensive line help gonna
- 36:12Speaker 5: come from? And if you're continuing to just bank on
- 36:14Speaker 5: third and fourth round picks to hit on the offensive line,
- 36:18Speaker 5: like we're gonna be here for a while.
- 36:19Speaker 6: Keep pushing it back around. I want to take it
- 36:21Speaker 6: at the top of the second round, which is like
- 36:23Speaker 6: a first round like.
- 36:24Speaker 5: This year, top of the second round, Like, I'll just
- 36:26Speaker 5: give you some names like Josh Connelly from Oregon. He
- 36:30Speaker 5: could play himself into the first round in the playoff,
- 36:32Speaker 5: right but he's the talented guy that most projected at
- 36:35Speaker 5: the top of the second round right now. But if
- 36:37Speaker 5: he has two three really good games in the playoff,
- 36:40Speaker 5: then he's going to be a first round pick. Josh
- 36:42Speaker 5: sam Is from Ohio State, really talented guy, but he's
- 36:45Speaker 5: coming off of torn acl right now.
- 36:46Speaker 6: So I'm gonna this is a little Devil's advocate here.
- 36:49Speaker 6: I'm going to try to help Fred, not necessarily saying
- 36:51Speaker 6: I think this is realistic, but okay, So Fred's trade
- 36:54Speaker 6: scenario where he's acquiring extra extra seconds and third round picks.
- 36:59Speaker 6: If your thing happens and you identify a guy, the
- 37:01Speaker 6: Oregon kid, the Ohio State kids, the one coming off injury,
- 37:04Speaker 6: or yeah, so one of those guys. Let's say he's
- 37:09Speaker 6: suddenly moving from the you know, the high thirties, you know,
- 37:12Speaker 6: or the low thirties in this case where the Patriots
- 37:14Speaker 6: are going to be taking thirty three, and he's moving
- 37:18Speaker 6: into the twenties. Right, Well, now you have all these
- 37:21Speaker 6: extra picks that Fred's acquiring.
- 37:24Speaker 4: You go up again.
- 37:25Speaker 5: He acquired one extra pick.
- 37:26Speaker 6: Didn't you acquire like a second in the.
- 37:28Speaker 4: First not just a third. But now I have four picks.
- 37:31Speaker 6: I have three through up into our extra second.
- 37:34Speaker 7: I didn't.
- 37:34Speaker 4: I didn't say it in my mind, we had.
- 37:36Speaker 6: An extra second.
- 37:41Speaker 5: I just I can make that.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Just give me that.
- 37:43Speaker 5: I would much rather just go that route on your own,
- 37:45Speaker 5: without trading for the veteran players. Like if you are draft,
- 37:50Speaker 5: you know, let's say you don't get your tackle or
- 37:53Speaker 5: you don't get your receiver at the top of the
- 37:55Speaker 5: first round because you go one or the other. Like
- 37:57Speaker 5: I would love to see them trade back into the
- 37:59Speaker 5: end of the first round and get the guy.
- 38:01Speaker 4: But you could do you could.
- 38:01Speaker 6: You could move up from thirty three, add in two
- 38:05Speaker 6: of the thirds to move to twenty five, right, right,
- 38:08Speaker 6: Maybe not even that much. Maybe you could get away
- 38:10Speaker 6: with less than that.
- 38:11Speaker 4: Yeah, you could do it. So this way, somewhere you
- 38:16Speaker 4: know this one.
- 38:17Speaker 5: Then I can make a first round pick and I'd
- 38:19Speaker 5: feel a little bit better.
- 38:20Speaker 6: Yeah, and you can take a tackle, which would make
- 38:22Speaker 6: you feel even better.
- 38:23Speaker 5: I'm still not feeling.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Go back to my other point that I made, I
- 38:26Speaker 4: agree Evan, you good teams build through the draft.
- 38:30Speaker 6: Yes, I don't think anybody would argue.
- 38:33Speaker 4: Not just through the first round. I don't want to
- 38:35Speaker 4: trade all the picks. Not just through the first round,
- 38:38Speaker 4: is my point. You need to be good in the
- 38:40Speaker 4: second and third round too, and every once in a
- 38:42Speaker 4: while get lucky further down.
- 38:44Speaker 6: Like the Rams traded all the picks. No one is
- 38:47Speaker 6: advocating doing.
- 38:48Speaker 5: But teams that do that to me, that all the picks. No,
- 38:52Speaker 5: they already have the roster correct around it, right. They
- 38:55Speaker 5: don't need the pillar players. They have the pillar players,
- 38:58Speaker 5: the Aaron Donald's, the Matthew Staffords, and now they're trading
- 39:01Speaker 5: their first round pick for Jalen Ramsey to be the
- 39:04Speaker 5: cherry on top of the Sunday. Sure, the Patriots are
- 39:07Speaker 5: now trading their first round pick for the cherries on
- 39:09Speaker 5: top before they build the foundation. So like that, that's.
- 39:12Speaker 6: I totally get back, and that's what. But I don't
- 39:14Speaker 6: think Fred's advocating trading all the picks. He wants to
- 39:16Speaker 6: trade one pick to acquire two guys that are better
- 39:19Speaker 6: than that pick.
- 39:20Speaker 7: Yeah, well, just stay on the Rams example, though. I mean,
- 39:22Speaker 7: once they did start drafting again, they're drafting well, especially
- 39:24Speaker 7: on the defensive side to the ball, adding guys who
- 39:26Speaker 7: are coming in and playing, and it's you know, not
- 39:28Speaker 7: what's happened.
- 39:28Speaker 4: And the other thing about the Rams is they recognize
- 39:30Speaker 4: when other teams don't draft well and they laugh.
- 39:33Speaker 7: Laught TV because they're drunk. Mean people, du people laugh
- 39:39Speaker 7: at us.
- 39:41Speaker 4: All right, let's let's get you involved, our listeners and
- 39:45Speaker 4: our viewers. Eight five five past five hundred is the
- 39:49Speaker 4: TPX hotline. If I can get this mouse to work?
- 39:52Speaker 4: What's going on with the coil?
- 39:53Speaker 6: Just missed an empty end?
- 39:54Speaker 4: Huh that happens the mouse working?
- 39:58Speaker 7: Jeez, alright, jeez, what are you gonna go?
- 40:01Speaker 5: Turn it on?
- 40:04Speaker 4: Mouse working? Well, you did drop it, I know, I
- 40:08Speaker 4: did focus in this game. Yeah, it's good TV. I
- 40:15Speaker 4: got it. I got it. It just popped in. All right,
- 40:17Speaker 4: let's go first to Joe in New Hampshire.
- 40:20Speaker 9: What's up Joe, By guys, thanks for taking my call.
- 40:25Speaker 9: I know the focus for most of the beginning was
- 40:28Speaker 9: on the draft, which obviously makes sense with the first
- 40:31Speaker 9: overall pick online this week. But I just want to say,
- 40:34Speaker 9: after last week's game, I think they need to blow
- 40:37Speaker 9: it up, get new front office, new coaching. And I
- 40:41Speaker 9: might be in the minority here. I don't want them
- 40:43Speaker 9: to hire Mike Rabel. I want them to completely cut
- 40:46Speaker 9: ties with people to the dynasty. The only exception to
- 40:49Speaker 9: that I'd make is Brian Dable if he gets fired
- 40:52Speaker 9: from the Giants. I just kind of want to hear
- 40:54Speaker 9: your thoughts on that.
- 40:56Speaker 4: So let me ask you a question. You said after
- 40:57Speaker 4: last game. I decided that you must have been really
- 41:01Speaker 4: close leading into the game, though, right, it wasn't just
- 41:04Speaker 4: last game.
- 41:06Speaker 9: Oh no, it wasn't just last game. I was close
- 41:09Speaker 9: going into it. But I just think putting that type
- 41:12Speaker 9: of performance up in front of the home base, and
- 41:16Speaker 9: I just think at this point there's no coming back
- 41:19Speaker 9: from it.
- 41:19Speaker 4: Yeah, was there anything they could have done in the
- 41:21Speaker 4: last game that would have changed your mind and say, oh,
- 41:24Speaker 4: let's on it back.
- 41:27Speaker 9: Uh be competitive, Not like I knew this year was
- 41:32Speaker 9: going to be rough, like record wise, talent wise, I
- 41:36Speaker 9: knew it was gonna be rough. But they're not even
- 41:39Speaker 9: competitive at this point.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, well thanks Joe. I appreciate the call.
- 41:43Speaker 4: You know what, I I hear what he's saying.
- 41:46Speaker 6: Likes agree with it. If you're gonna blow it up,
- 41:49Speaker 6: to let you know if you're gonna blow it up.
- 41:51Speaker 6: I think bringing in people whose success wasn't tied to
- 41:55Speaker 6: Tom Brady makes a lot of sense.
- 41:57Speaker 5: Well, vos wasn't.
- 41:59Speaker 4: I didn't say it was. I'm just saying, you know,
- 42:03Speaker 4: bringing in people whose success wasn't tied to Tom Brady,
- 42:06Speaker 4: Like a lot of people talk about Josh McDaniels is
- 42:09Speaker 4: oc Like, maybe we should look at people who we
- 42:13Speaker 4: can say, yeah, it wasn't because of Tom, you know.
- 42:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:17Speaker 7: I mean it's just hard because you assume that their
- 42:19Speaker 7: first place they look is with some degree of familiarity
- 42:21Speaker 7: in people that they've worked with before. And I mean
- 42:23Speaker 7: I've heard, you know, plenty of people they did make
- 42:25Speaker 7: a change that this time. They want to see a
- 42:27Speaker 7: fully robust interview process where a number of candidates you know,
- 42:32Speaker 7: are considered. But I just, I mean, I just think
- 42:34Speaker 7: the general vibe from everybody is like something has to change.
- 42:37Speaker 7: You can't have this bad of a season and sell
- 42:40Speaker 7: it as it's gonna be better next year. Let's just
- 42:42Speaker 7: running back like something's gonna have to change this offseason.
- 42:45Speaker 4: Sean's and Virginia. What's up Sean? Oh doing Sean turn
- 42:52Speaker 4: that up? Mike Matt a little bit.
- 42:55Speaker 10: For me, I'm a total I'm not kind of like
- 42:57Speaker 10: an outlier when it comes to this, because I think
- 43:01Speaker 10: that dependent culk get close to ransom when it comes
- 43:03Speaker 10: to that uh pick, because there's a premier at the position,
- 43:07Speaker 10: and there's too many teams within that spot that needs
- 43:09Speaker 10: a quarterback, And if you had to take the time
- 43:12Speaker 10: to think about it, I'm pretty sure a lot of
- 43:13Speaker 10: people that within this organizations or with other teams, uh,
- 43:16Speaker 10: they're on the brink of probably possibly losing their job whatever,
- 43:20Speaker 10: so they might have one more chads, so they might
- 43:21Speaker 10: need to go out to this quarterback and there's only
- 43:24Speaker 10: two of them. I can go and accumulate deep pits
- 43:26Speaker 10: or whatever. I could possibly go ahead and get to
- 43:29Speaker 10: that spot I need to get to where I'm robbly,
- 43:31Speaker 10: like five or six or whatever, and then I would
- 43:33Speaker 10: use one of those picks up I may accumulate like
- 43:35Speaker 10: another fucking round pick or whatever, or another third, and
- 43:38Speaker 10: I would say you that you try to get DK Metcay,
- 43:41Speaker 10: but but at for a first pick, I'll probably take
- 43:44Speaker 10: ce Mat if I can. If I don't, I probably
- 43:46Speaker 10: go out of the head rusher or or I had
- 43:49Speaker 10: the deep tackle for my Michigan Okaying.
- 43:53Speaker 4: All right, thanks Sean.
- 43:54Speaker 6: I would just say that I don't think there are
- 43:57Speaker 6: two quarterbacks based on the way that people are talking,
- 44:00Speaker 6: and people are talking themselves into two quarterbacks. This is
- 44:02Speaker 6: very similar to me to twenty twenty two, yep, and
- 44:05Speaker 6: everybody said this isn't really a quarterback draft, and they
- 44:09Speaker 6: were right, first one you got taken it like twenty twenty.
- 44:13Speaker 6: So I think there's a chance that these teams will
- 44:16Speaker 6: not talk themselves into one of these two guys, and
- 44:19Speaker 6: they'll just either decide the guy's good enough to take
- 44:22Speaker 6: at my original pick or he's not, and I'll just
- 44:26Speaker 6: pick the best player on the board and figure it out.
- 44:29Speaker 6: I mean, and I think that if you look, there's
- 44:31Speaker 6: something that I think that is starting to happen a
- 44:34Speaker 6: little bit more often with mixed results. But there's enough
- 44:38Speaker 6: teams now that are doing it. Just saying I don't
- 44:41Speaker 6: love Shdor Sanders, So instead of doing that, I'm going
- 44:44Speaker 6: to go to Sam Darnold, right, and I'm going to
- 44:46Speaker 6: wait till the year that I'm in the draft and
- 44:48Speaker 6: I can get a quarterback that I like. He worked.
- 44:52Speaker 6: Your boy Mayfield worked. Now, Atlanta did it with Kirk Cousins.
- 44:56Speaker 6: It didn't work. It didn't work. Now they were able
- 44:59Speaker 6: to do.
- 45:00Speaker 4: But they were able to do well for other teams
- 45:02Speaker 4: in the past. Well, it didn't work this year.
- 45:04Speaker 6: Right. I mean, Kirk Cousins has been a good player.
- 45:06Speaker 6: It looks like the Achilles was something that he couldn't
- 45:08Speaker 6: come back from.
- 45:09Speaker 4: He's been a guy that's moved around and had success.
- 45:12Speaker 6: Yeah, but he that was like young early in his career.
- 45:15Speaker 6: He left Washington and went to Minnesota. This is a
- 45:17Speaker 6: little bit different. I think you could sort of talk
- 45:19Speaker 6: yourself into one of these, you know, I'll call him
- 45:22Speaker 6: Bridge guys, Gino Smith. You know, Seattle has been relative
- 45:26Speaker 6: irrelevant with Gino Smith. If I were the Giants, I
- 45:31Speaker 6: wouldn't even think about taking you to a Sanders number two.
- 45:34Speaker 4: I would think you'd get the bridge. I would.
- 45:38Speaker 6: This is gonna sound really silly. There's no chit. I
- 45:41Speaker 6: would just assume running back with Daniel Jones then then
- 45:44Speaker 6: talk myself into one of these guys that some AFC
- 45:47Speaker 6: scouts don't even think of first round talents at the
- 45:51Speaker 6: number two overall pick. Again, if I'm like at number twelve, I'm.
- 45:55Speaker 4: Looking on like Sanders.
- 45:58Speaker 5: Sure, sure, I couldn't agree with Paul Moore though about
- 46:02Speaker 5: you know, the Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, Gino Smith. I
- 46:06Speaker 5: would much rather do that if I was the Giants,
- 46:09Speaker 5: especially if Dable's still there.
- 46:10Speaker 6: Right, you can't do it with Daniel Jones. I get that,
- 46:13Speaker 6: that's just kind of a point.
- 46:14Speaker 5: But Drew Law, Yeah, I would just I would much
- 46:18Speaker 5: rather do that route this year. You know, look, I
- 46:22Speaker 5: I know he's gonna have to get paid, but like
- 46:24Speaker 5: Brock Perdy, I'm one hundred percent sure is gonna is
- 46:26Speaker 5: going to be their long term with San Francisco, uh
- 46:29Speaker 5: JJ McCarthy and Sam Darnold, Like one of those guys
- 46:32Speaker 5: isn't going to be there. In Minnesota long term, so
- 46:34Speaker 5: you have an option like J. J. McCarthy is better
- 46:36Speaker 5: than both these quarterbacks in the draft as a prospect.
- 46:39Speaker 5: So like you, there's so many options I feel like
- 46:42Speaker 5: in this quarterback market that isn't in the draft?
- 46:45Speaker 4: What what what is the down? What is the the
- 46:48Speaker 4: knock on Shador Sanders?
- 46:51Speaker 5: He's just I would say that his you know, he
- 46:54Speaker 5: has a lot of the trades that teams are looking for.
- 46:57Speaker 5: They're just not you know, if Drake May was out
- 46:59Speaker 5: of ten, you know his are at a seven. You know,
- 47:02Speaker 5: he's he's got requisite arm strength. I think he has
- 47:05Speaker 5: a little bit of that playmaking, you know, offscript type
- 47:08Speaker 5: of mobility. But it's just more you know, it's more
- 47:12Speaker 5: watered down, you know, it's not it's not quite as
- 47:15Speaker 5: impressive as some of the guys that came out last year.
- 47:18Speaker 6: Yeah, I haven't watched a ton of them, so I'm
- 47:19Speaker 6: not necessarily telling you I wouldn't say that no one
- 47:25Speaker 6: much at all. I mean they don't they don't really
- 47:27Speaker 6: win all that much. They beat the teams that they
- 47:30Speaker 6: quote unquote should beat. I think he runs around a
- 47:33Speaker 6: lot like backwards. I don't think he has great pocket
- 47:36Speaker 6: presence and from what little I've seen, points a lot
- 47:40Speaker 6: of fingers. Yeah, he likes to call out his offensive
- 47:43Speaker 6: line a lot. Kind of reminds me of Jake Cutler
- 47:45Speaker 6: at Vanderbilt stuff that he.
- 47:48Speaker 5: Didn't have much, but he I would say that, you
- 47:52Speaker 5: know when you watch watching him on film, like he's
- 47:55Speaker 5: he's just his his traits are just not high end.
- 47:58Speaker 4: You know.
- 47:59Speaker 5: I think that he's got but I don't.
- 48:02Speaker 6: Because he seems small to me. But maybe maybe he's
- 48:04Speaker 6: not as small as he.
- 48:05Speaker 5: I don't think he's He's not Josh Allen justin Herbert,
- 48:08Speaker 5: But I don't think that's gonna be a big conversation
- 48:11Speaker 5: like you know it was with like Bryce Young for example.
- 48:14Speaker 6: Like cam Ward's small too. You know, I heard camp
- 48:17Speaker 6: someone compared cam Wood sort of size and style to
- 48:20Speaker 6: Kyler Murray. I don't think he's that good, you know,
- 48:24Speaker 6: I don't think he's as good as other Murdy was
- 48:25Speaker 6: in college, but he's a smaller guy athlete was really
- 48:29Speaker 6: productive in Miami this round. Oh absolutely. If there's a
- 48:34Speaker 6: silver lining, you were in position to make the quarterback
- 48:37Speaker 6: in the year that there was quarterbacks that were worth taking. Yeah,
- 48:40Speaker 6: that's the silver lining. And you got and you've got
- 48:42Speaker 6: one that looks good.
- 48:42Speaker 7: You think Dion's a consideration too with drafting Ship Sanders,
- 48:46Speaker 7: so that you're gonna have a little bit of.
- 48:46Speaker 6: A does he come with him?
- 48:48Speaker 4: I mean like the factor.
- 48:51Speaker 7: Dad talking how to should here do? Last week? You know,
- 48:54Speaker 7: I mean he's got a platform.
- 48:55Speaker 4: Distraction just part of it.
- 48:57Speaker 5: I think Shoudor Sanders could be a starting quarterback in
- 48:59Speaker 5: this league. I just don't think he's going to be
- 49:01Speaker 5: an elite starting quarterback. So that's probably a mid to
- 49:06Speaker 5: late round, first round pick if you're you're thinking that's
- 49:09Speaker 5: what he can be.
- 49:09Speaker 4: All right, let's go to Eldred in North Carolina. What's up, Eldred,
- 49:14Speaker 4: Biggie Aldred? He is Matt turn it up a little. Yeah, yeah,
- 49:22Speaker 4: we can hear you.
- 49:23Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, there you go.
- 49:26Speaker 11: Okay, Happy New Year's to y'all, Same to you.
- 49:29Speaker 12: But yeah, I saw that little draft thing where the
- 49:35Speaker 12: Raiders want to know the standards and they're from NFL
- 49:39Speaker 12: network thing, I think, and they they were given out
- 49:42Speaker 12: a first a sucket the father first.
- 49:44Speaker 4: In prog What said that NFL network?
- 49:49Speaker 11: Hey, look at NFL excuse me a news news break
- 49:54Speaker 11: on it. I think NFL sack them from there. But
- 49:56Speaker 11: it's down there though it's on the news breaks.
- 49:59Speaker 12: First Raiders would trade Crosby a first, a sucket.
- 50:03Speaker 11: And the twenty six first.
- 50:05Speaker 4: Wow, I do that in a harder getting centered, you
- 50:08Speaker 4: get centered?
- 50:09Speaker 7: I do.
- 50:09Speaker 4: I do that so fast You're.
- 50:12Speaker 11: Gonna find it and I'm gonna shoot it to your
- 50:15Speaker 11: I am a camp.
- 50:16Speaker 6: Ye Oh No, I didn't say that. You didn't see
- 50:19Speaker 6: someone propose it. Yeah, I'm just saying I don't see
- 50:22Speaker 6: a team doing that. I saw two trade proposals that
- 50:26Speaker 6: didn't even evolve first round picks, just I mean, other
- 50:29Speaker 6: than the swap of picks, which people mistakenly all the
- 50:32Speaker 6: time count as an extra first round pick.
- 50:34Speaker 4: So what if? What if? What Eldrid is saying, the
- 50:39Speaker 4: factor what the Raiders are factoring in is we want
- 50:42Speaker 4: Dion Sanders to be our head coach, and so by
- 50:45Speaker 4: doing this, we're gonna we're gonna get our head coach
- 50:47Speaker 4: as well, And that's upping the ante. It'd be great.
- 50:51Speaker 4: What if that's part of it? Thanks?
- 50:53Speaker 7: Thanks, that's a little bit of luck that the Patriots
- 50:55Speaker 7: need this year, having this pick that sound.
- 50:57Speaker 6: Like a Tom Brady moved to here.
- 50:58Speaker 7: No, no, but how.
- 51:00Speaker 4: Much, say, does Brady have anything?
- 51:02Speaker 6: I think I'll have a lot.
- 51:03Speaker 4: You think he'll have a lot.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I like probably make a trade down,
- 51:08Speaker 5: even if it's not for the king's ransom, even if
- 51:12Speaker 5: it's not for a huge package like we've seen in
- 51:15Speaker 5: years past. Sure, I think i'd probably put your minimum.
- 51:19Speaker 5: I mean, I would like a twenty twenty five or
- 51:21Speaker 5: twenty twenty six, I should say, first round pick.
- 51:25Speaker 6: How about a second and third this year? In a
- 51:27Speaker 6: future too. I thought what I heard this morning one.
- 51:32Speaker 5: How far you're going from one to eight?
- 51:34Speaker 6: I think it was like six.
- 51:36Speaker 5: I'd still do it.
- 51:37Speaker 4: That's probably the jazz.
- 51:38Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, that might have been the one I heard
- 51:40Speaker 6: yet because now I forget. I want a credit whoever
- 51:43Speaker 6: was talking about it, but I forget.
- 51:44Speaker 5: If there was if there was a Miles Garrett in
- 51:47Speaker 5: this draft that you were giving away with the first
- 51:50Speaker 5: overall pick, if there was, you know, someone of that
- 51:52Speaker 5: ILK that's you know, this this unreal, you know, future
- 51:56Speaker 5: Hall of Fame level prospect, then I wouldn't do it.
- 51:59Speaker 5: But in this draft, I don't really think there's a
- 52:01Speaker 5: huge difference between who you're going to be picking at
- 52:05Speaker 5: one versus who you're going to be picking six seven, eight,
- 52:07Speaker 5: So whatever you can get for the pick, I'd probably.
- 52:10Speaker 4: Do it all right. My foods here, so let's take
- 52:12Speaker 4: a break when we come back. More calls and emails
- 52:15Speaker 4: here on Patriots Unfiltered.

- 53:03Speaker 14: stop asking us for money. Either way, one rate fits all.
- 53:08Speaker 14: Feedex one rate two day shipping, one flat rate starting
- 53:12Speaker 14: at fourteen fifty visit FedEx dot com slash one rate
- 53:15Speaker 14: for details. Exclusions apply.
- 53:19Speaker 3: Let me just j overside. So, yeah, have an opportunity
- 53:22Speaker 3: to go back and watch the film. He has full staff.
- 53:24Speaker 15: And you know, just like I said after the game,
- 53:26Speaker 15: it wasn't much positive to take out of the game.
- 53:29Speaker 15: I guess if you want to say, you know, there's
- 53:31Speaker 15: one thing positive. It's good to see Cold Strange out there.
- 53:33Speaker 15: And I would say he played pretty well, you know,
- 53:36Speaker 15: great out pretty well in the game. And for a
- 53:37Speaker 15: guy who hasn't played football in the year to go
- 53:39Speaker 15: in there and play center definitely definitely was encouraging. So
- 53:44Speaker 15: you know, for me, you know, today we have the
- 53:46Speaker 15: players in you know, we have our meetings and stuff
- 53:49Speaker 15: and and really just pushed forward to the last week
- 53:52Speaker 15: of the season. You know, I just got to be
- 53:53Speaker 15: able to stay the course through all all the negativity
- 53:57Speaker 15: and look again, as I've said, you know, winning cure
- 54:00Speaker 15: as all. We just need to win football games.
- 54:03Speaker 16: We'll open up questions, will say we've been going, hey.
- 54:07Speaker 3: Good morning, John. I know obviously we want to go
- 54:10Speaker 3: out this year with a win.
- 54:12Speaker 17: But any thoughts to not playing Drake May this week,
- 54:16Speaker 17: given uh the injury risk and given his style of
- 54:19Speaker 17: play and everything.
- 54:20Speaker 15: I would say right now that everything is, you know,
- 54:23Speaker 15: in consideration, and we'll see how the leak goes.
- 54:27Speaker 16: Next question Chris Price, followed by Chris Mason hey.
- 54:31Speaker 18: Rod, how much, if it all does the Bills situation,
- 54:35Speaker 18: the fact that they're locked into the number two spot,
- 54:38Speaker 18: they might sit some starters, they might have some guys
- 54:40Speaker 18: play a quarter, whatever the case may be. How much
- 54:42Speaker 18: of it all does that change your thinking when it
- 54:44Speaker 18: comes to gameplay and personnel in the rest of the situation.
- 54:48Speaker 15: Yeah, my expectation is, you know, if the guys are healthy,
- 54:50Speaker 15: then they're expected to be ready to go out there
- 54:52Speaker 15: and play. And again, I'm glad to see how the
- 54:54Speaker 15: week goes. But I understand the question. I just you know,
- 54:58Speaker 15: the guys are working hard and.
- 54:59Speaker 3: We need to play football. Thanks, thank you.
- 55:03Speaker 16: Next question Chris Mason followed like Chris Ryan.
- 55:07Speaker 3: Hey Drod.
- 55:08Speaker 18: After the game, Daniel Laquaro said that it feels like
- 55:10Speaker 18: a lot of guys start giving up when things get hard.
- 55:13Speaker 15: I'm just wondering if you saw idea that on the
- 55:15Speaker 15: film in the second half when he reviewed it.
- 55:18Speaker 3: You look, we saw guys still flying around.
- 55:20Speaker 15: Guys were still flying around giving good effort, and you know,
- 55:23Speaker 15: it was just all about.
- 55:24Speaker 3: Just execution as a whole. So I didn't see.
- 55:29Speaker 16: Chris Ryan followed by Doug Kai.
- 55:31Speaker 3: Made hope ball as well as you.
- 55:34Speaker 17: Just wanted to ask you about your process when it
- 55:36Speaker 17: comes to uh Drake in that game where he gets
- 55:39Speaker 17: medically cleared. Although he was showing signs that he said
- 55:43Speaker 17: he got his bell wrung, he was showing signs that
- 55:44Speaker 17: maybe he had had issues. Do you just completely trust
- 55:48Speaker 17: in the medical staff in that instance or do you
- 55:51Speaker 17: kind of take a step back and think about everything.
- 55:54Speaker 17: How do you evaluate during that type of a situation.
- 55:57Speaker 15: Yeah, as soon as they've go into the tent, I
- 55:59Speaker 15: just wait to hear back from the medical professionals and
- 56:01Speaker 15: the independent evaluator.
- 56:03Speaker 3: If they say it's fine, then it's fine.
- 56:05Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 56:07Speaker 16: Thanks Mike Grease followed by Doug Kai.
- 56:10Speaker 3: Could you ride a big, big picture question.
- 56:12Speaker 19: I'm just curious, what do you feel are the most
- 56:14Speaker 19: impactful things that you've accomplished in your first year as
- 56:18Speaker 19: head coach.
- 56:20Speaker 15: I'll just say, you know, just you know, being able
- 56:22Speaker 15: to weather the storm, and it seems I have been
- 56:24Speaker 15: in the storm for a long time, and I think
- 56:26Speaker 15: the players, you know, as a whole, I would say
- 56:28Speaker 15: they've come into work every day during the difficult season.
- 56:31Speaker 15: I think that's been a huge piece of the puzzle
- 56:33Speaker 15: and hopefully we can keep that going forward. You know,
- 56:35Speaker 15: we had eight one score games this year and we
- 56:37Speaker 15: just got to honestly, we'll have to win those games,
- 56:39Speaker 15: and that's what the NFL is and that that's going
- 56:41Speaker 15: to be the goal going forward.
- 56:44Speaker 20: Doug Pie, followed by Andrew Callahan, Good more and Drod.
- 56:48Speaker 20: We didn't see captain's patch on Jacoby Brissett's jersey. Is
- 56:53Speaker 20: there any update to his captaincy.
- 56:56Speaker 15: No, he said, all right here, just left off the jersey.
- 57:00Speaker 3: Though, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yes.
- 57:03Speaker 16: Thanks Andrew Callahan. Follower Phil Perry, Good morning, girod is
- 57:09Speaker 16: Drake Maine Concussion protocol.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Uh not as No, he's not, Thank you, Phil Perry.
- 57:17Speaker 16: Fall By mean steel.
- 57:19Speaker 3: Let me say, let me say, as far as my understanding,
- 57:22Speaker 3: he is not in the protocol when it's where would
- 57:26Speaker 3: you learn that? If he is? It will be today?
- 57:30Speaker 3: Thank you, Phil Perry. Hey, Rod, could you describe how
- 57:41Speaker 3: you and Alex have communicated this year?
- 57:44Speaker 17: How would you characterize your level of communication and how
- 57:48Speaker 17: well it's gone in your opinion.
- 57:49Speaker 3: That if we're in constant communication.
- 57:51Speaker 15: We speak every single day, we're meetings every single day together,
- 57:55Speaker 15: and it's been good.
- 57:56Speaker 3: Obviously, again, you know, without record, I mean it's.
- 57:59Speaker 15: Easy to say, well, maybe this or maybe that, but
- 58:01Speaker 15: our communication has been great.
- 58:06Speaker 16: We can still feel like all that, Chris Gasper, I'm sorry,
- 58:09Speaker 16: Chris christ.
- 58:11Speaker 3: One Drude. Just as of right now, you guys are
- 58:17Speaker 3: in line for the number one overall pick next year.
- 58:20Speaker 17: How does that, if it all affect your game plan
- 58:23Speaker 17: going into this week?
- 58:26Speaker 15: Focus on building the Buffalo Bills. I mean, that's what
- 58:29Speaker 15: we have to do, Chris Price.
- 58:33Speaker 18: Fall, Like Chris Ryan, d Kean White was very outspoken
- 58:38Speaker 18: toward the end of the week and then after the
- 58:40Speaker 18: game as well. I know you said on the pregame
- 58:42Speaker 18: show you had a chance to speak with him, you
- 58:44Speaker 18: guys are okay. I don't know if you've had a
- 58:46Speaker 18: chance to kind of catch up with him since his
- 58:48Speaker 18: comments after the game and how those conversations have gone.
- 58:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I did and spoke this morning.
- 58:53Speaker 15: I'm going to keep those conversations private, but we're on
- 58:56Speaker 15: the same page.
- 58:57Speaker 16: Thanks, Thanks Chris Ryan, followed by Doug kye.
- 59:02Speaker 17: Ared you mentioned earlier, you know, eight one score games
- 59:05Speaker 17: throughout the course of this year, and you had high
- 59:09Speaker 17: expectations for establishing, you know, the brand of football you
- 59:12Speaker 17: wanted to establish coming into the season. I'm just kind
- 59:14Speaker 17: of curious now as where at the last game, do
- 59:17Speaker 17: you feel that this has been more challenging than did
- 59:20Speaker 17: you anticipated?
- 59:21Speaker 3: And how would you kind of.
- 59:22Speaker 17: Evaluate where things have on compared to your expectations going
- 59:27Speaker 17: into the season, how you've grown as a coach throughout it.
- 59:31Speaker 15: I appreciate the question. Look, I knew this was going
- 59:33Speaker 15: to be a challenging season, you know, for a year
- 59:34Speaker 15: head coach. Obviously, the expectations here are always high. Unfortunately,
- 59:39Speaker 15: we just haven't been able to meet, you know, those expectations.
- 59:42Speaker 15: Now I'm saying that I think the biggest problem with
- 59:44Speaker 15: us as a team starts with me is just being consistent.
- 59:47Speaker 3: It's about consistency.
- 59:48Speaker 15: It's about consistency in the field, It's about consistency, uh
- 59:52Speaker 15: inside the building.
- 59:52Speaker 3: And you know, we just got to continue to work on.
- 59:54Speaker 16: That dog high followed by Mike Grees and I know when.
- 1:00:00Speaker 20: You sat up to the game that it was a
- 1:00:01Speaker 20: coach's decision to start Remandra Stevenson over Antonio Gibson, can
- 1:00:07Speaker 20: you give us a little more intelligent into what exactly
- 1:00:09Speaker 20: happened there?
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: No, I was really intel. I mean I'm you know,
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: stick with coach's decision on that.
- 1:00:17Speaker 16: Thanks Mike Greece, followed by Mike Jarret Bright.
- 1:00:21Speaker 17: Up up to this point, Joe Milton has been the
- 1:00:23Speaker 17: third quarterback in every game.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: How much motivation is there internally to maybe.
- 1:00:27Speaker 9: Bump them up to the game day roster this week
- 1:00:30Speaker 9: and just to see more of.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: What you have in an actual game.
- 1:00:34Speaker 15: There's absolutely a possibility, but like I said earlier, you know,
- 1:00:37Speaker 15: all things are still in consideration.
- 1:00:41Speaker 16: We'll take two final questions Mike Jaredy and Mark games Mad.
- 1:00:47Speaker 19: I'm curious after seeing the film the pitch to Popmandre
- 1:00:53Speaker 19: sort of what happened there. I know some guys talked
- 1:00:54Speaker 19: about there being some heavy pressure on that side. Is
- 1:00:57Speaker 19: that something they were maybe Day should have checked out
- 1:01:00Speaker 19: of the play.
- 1:01:02Speaker 15: You know, look, they had a good player coming off
- 1:01:04Speaker 15: to the edge, and again it just goes down to execution.
- 1:01:07Speaker 15: We've been playing anytimes in practice and just couldn't get
- 1:01:10Speaker 15: it done in the day.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: Thank you. Thanks.
- 1:01:13Speaker 16: Last question, Mark Damians Bed drag.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: Good morning with we know this one game left. Have
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: you been given as surance by ownership that you'll return
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: next season?
- 1:01:23Speaker 15: I'm always in constant dollarship and Philip, we're still on
- 1:01:27Speaker 15: the same page.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: Thank you, Thanks, thanks everyone, Thanks us, and now great
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: moments in history.
- 1:01:39Speaker 21: I ended up turning around and selling reselling the ticket
- 1:01:42Speaker 21: on Ticketmaster and actually made more on one ticket than
- 1:01:45Speaker 21: I paid for the two.
- 1:01:47Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:01:47Speaker 21: So I get to the game, you know, and and
- 1:01:49Speaker 21: I and I sit down and there's this really nice
- 1:01:51Speaker 21: little old lady and.
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: She's like, oh, how did you get tickets and Ticketmasters? Yeah,
- 1:01:55Speaker 6: I just I just bought mine.
- 1:01:56Speaker 21: My husband, who is a big Patriots fan, he passed away,
- 1:01:59Speaker 21: and so I felt like I.
- 1:02:00Speaker 8: Needed to be here for it. And I'm just feeling
- 1:02:03Speaker 8: worse and worse that I, like, it wasn't this money.
- 1:02:05Speaker 8: And then it was so bad she couldn't even drive
- 1:02:07Speaker 8: to the game. She had to leave early to catch
- 1:02:09Speaker 8: the train to like get back, so.
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: She had to leaven.
- 1:02:13Speaker 7: Person I'm sitting I just bought it on Ticketmaster for
- 1:02:18Speaker 7: eight million dollars.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: That's another great moment from all.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: Right back car pages on Filter at eight five to
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: five Pats five hundred is the tpxline podcasts at Patriots
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: dot com and the capital's just scored.
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: Look at your iPad, see if they were offside.
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: I can't now, I can't. Okay, all right, So we
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: tons of emails coming in, which is great. As always,
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: I thank people for their engagement, their participation. The most
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: important email I see. It's from James in Atlanta by
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: way of mate. He wants to know if Deuce is
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: wearing skinny jeans. Doucy wearing skinny jeans.
- 1:02:56Speaker 7: So they don't flare at the bottom. But I don't
- 1:02:58Speaker 7: think they're skinny.
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: They're not skinny jeans, but they're the normal genes that
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: come out nor days. Back in the day, jeans were
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: a little bit more comfortable fitting. Now your normal jeans
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: are kind of skinny.
- 1:03:11Speaker 7: He's got some stretch to them. I like the stretch.
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: Yeah, the other thing, stretchy jeans.
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: They like Mom jeans, the stretchy hell.
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: The Mom jean partner I remember makes fun of I
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: remember when you bought denim jeans from Levi's. It took
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: like a month before they were worked in.
- 1:03:25Speaker 7: They were like card but then they were like party
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: you had to hang on to them.
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: Of course, but it took a while for them. Now
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: they come already broken.
- 1:03:32Speaker 7: In, they're already got a hole in them.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: It's it's not great.
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: It's awesome. It's because we realized that jeans actually aren't comfortable,
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: so we're going to make them comfortable jeans.
- 1:03:41Speaker 7: That's right.
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: Now they look like jeans.
- 1:03:42Speaker 6: But jeans are very comfortable.
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: Yeah, the jeans I wore. You can light a match
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: on them.
- 1:03:47Speaker 6: You know that's not comfortable.
- 1:03:48Speaker 22: Though.
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: Over there my my uh hand rolled cigarette.
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: We missed that this year, Paul, we haven't had the
- 1:04:01Speaker 7: I mean, do I agree?
- 1:04:05Speaker 6: Couldn't say it better, couldn't better myself.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: Let's go to Texas, Jose on the TPX outline. What's up, Jose?
- 1:04:13Speaker 23: Hey, guys, how's it going?
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: All right?
- 1:04:16Speaker 23: So, Fred I was always with you. The morale the
- 1:04:20Speaker 23: locker room got to be up. So that's why I
- 1:04:23Speaker 23: think we're going to beat the bills this week and
- 1:04:26Speaker 23: we're gonna be picking in the top five.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: So why do you think the morale's up?
- 1:04:33Speaker 23: Yeah, I mean you just got to have.
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: Faith, okay, So you want to win.
- 1:04:40Speaker 23: It's not that I want to win, it's for the
- 1:04:41Speaker 23: locker room to have a good morale up. Okay, be
- 1:04:45Speaker 23: a good dart to the off season, and Drake Maye
- 1:04:47Speaker 23: is just gonna gonna show up from there and then
- 1:04:51Speaker 23: we'll get one of those edge guys.
- 1:04:52Speaker 24: In the draft.
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: I mean, there's a possibility that the morales up and
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: they still lose, you know, I just yeah, but okay,
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: thanks Jose.
- 1:05:02Speaker 7: Do you guys think that they're having the first overall
- 1:05:04Speaker 7: picked though? I mean, like, is it kind of a
- 1:05:06Speaker 7: scarlet letter to where like you're you're the worst team
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: in the league last year like that. I mean, as
- 1:05:10Speaker 7: much as you like, that's you, you can trot it out,
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: especially in the year.
- 1:05:14Speaker 6: Like this, there's not a sort of obvious price.
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: Right you want to do this? Yeah?
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: I had that that feeling after the game on Sunday
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: when I was almost like they're the worst team in
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: the NFL, Like they're literally the worst team in the league.
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: And I was like, that is not fun.
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: You want to know what, you know, like to illustrate that,
- 1:05:35Speaker 6: obviously you have the number one pick, so but the
- 1:05:38Speaker 6: whole Tankathon thing when you go on that website, you
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: know what, like that's breaking down the tiebreakers or the
- 1:05:43Speaker 6: strength of schedule, and you know why that they win
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: the tiebreaker for everybody because their schedule is deemed to
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: be easier than everybody else, is right, Like it's just
- 1:05:52Speaker 6: like to Evan's point, like that just like sort of
- 1:05:55Speaker 6: hits you right in the face.
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: Even with an easy schedule, Even with an.
- 1:05:59Speaker 6: Easy schedule, we're not as good as the other teams
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: that have, you know, obviously the same amount of question
- 1:06:05Speaker 6: marks the Giants. I just I watched a lot of
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: that Giants game because we got a you know, we
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: got a red zone Sunday out of it, and man like,
- 1:06:14Speaker 6: they played really well in that game, and I know
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: it was a fluke. It was a one off. I mean,
- 1:06:18Speaker 6: I see what that would happen the rest of the year.
- 1:06:22Speaker 6: But like the pages haven't really had any of those
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: except for Week one. But even that was a sixteen
- 1:06:28Speaker 6: to ten nail bier in a game that was like
- 1:06:30Speaker 6: what a line unwatchable? This was like they couldn't they
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: couldn't stop them. The Colts couldn't stop them. They scored
- 1:06:36Speaker 6: forty five points.
- 1:06:37Speaker 7: There might have been ways like even last year to
- 1:06:39Speaker 7: you know, point out some details of like yeah, but
- 1:06:42Speaker 7: but not this year. I mean, as I said the.
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: Top, like all the stats back it up.
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: I don't want to hear about the close games.
- 1:06:49Speaker 7: Okay, so I want to score fred I told all this,
- 1:06:52Speaker 7: I told Paul this. I was I had a moment
- 1:06:54Speaker 7: where I think, I'm like, oh, this would be a
- 1:06:55Speaker 7: good Paul thing. I was at home and I heard
- 1:06:58Speaker 7: Badar yesterday on felgrim As and he mentioned, you know,
- 1:07:01Speaker 7: this might be the worst Patriots season since what nineteen two,
- 1:07:05Speaker 7: which I think the Patriots got two and fourteen that year,
- 1:07:08Speaker 7: And so I was just curious, and I looked up
- 1:07:10Speaker 7: how many one win how many one score losses that
- 1:07:13Speaker 7: they had?
- 1:07:14Speaker 4: Five?
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: They had five that season back then.
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: So I mean, I think, how many one score losses
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: they have this year?
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: Sick? I did eight.
- 1:07:22Speaker 6: No, they've been eight one scored games.
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: Eight once we're games, but I think they won two
- 1:07:26Speaker 7: of them.
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: Like a few weeks ago. I did the math, six
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: sixty nine percent of the games this season up to
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: that point, where once eight points the Wessah, that's just
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: how that's how it works in the NFL.
- 1:07:37Speaker 7: It's not like, oh we're close, we just are a couple.
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: Say there are no homecoming games in the NFL.
- 1:07:41Speaker 7: The other thing that bugs me is the inconsistency thing,
- 1:07:44Speaker 7: and that's what you know, Gerak keeps hitting like, we
- 1:07:45Speaker 7: just need to be consistent. I'm like, no, that's not it.
- 1:07:48Speaker 7: What I've just wid is that every NFL team has
- 1:07:50Speaker 7: a handful of plays during the season where they look
- 1:07:52Speaker 7: competent or games or sequences or quarters. But it's the
- 1:07:56Speaker 7: good teams that start to play above and beyond and
- 1:07:59Speaker 7: you know it's not, well, we're close games.
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: Make the follow up is why can't you be consistent? Yeah,
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: and that's because we're not a good team, right, because
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: good teams are consistent.
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: Yeah, that's that's talent, yes, right, talent. You know in
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: Buffalo they get out to a fourteen nothing lead, but
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: they can't sustain it because they don't have the talent
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: on the offense to sustain it, right, Like they can
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: put a drive together here and there, but they can't.
- 1:08:22Speaker 6: And that's part of my thing that I've sort of
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: come around on with the consistency, the lack of consistency
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: for the Patriots, it's really more about the other team.
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: Like the Chargers played really well. I'm not taking anything
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: away from the Chargers on Saturday.
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: They play like.
- 1:08:37Speaker 6: They played really well. They were intense from the start
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: of the game, and they had a couple of drops
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: on the first drive, and then they were basically flawless
- 1:08:47Speaker 6: for a long stretch. The Bills didn't have that intensity
- 1:08:52Speaker 6: at the start of the game, and as Evan said,
- 1:08:54Speaker 6: they fall behind fourteen to nothing. They turn it on
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: for the next two quarters, score twenty four straight points
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: and they you know, they end up winning, you know,
- 1:09:04Speaker 6: somewhat easily at the end. So it's to me, it's
- 1:09:08Speaker 6: more about what the other team is doing consistency wise.
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: Yeah, that's because they don't do anything. The Patriots don't
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: do anything to threaten the other team, whether it's scheme
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: or it's it's talent, Like, they don't do anything that
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: is like, we got to prepare for this, but we
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: got to worry about it.
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: Bud Light is easy to drink, easy to enjoy. The
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: Patriots are easy to offend and easy to defend.
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: I was gonna say it's full sides and half.
- 1:09:30Speaker 6: I mean, if you look at it, you know, the
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: whole Like, they lost six to one score games, so
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: they could be the record could be so much better.
- 1:09:37Speaker 6: They were a yard away from being one and fifteen.
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: Yeah right, I mean that guy for the Cincinnati that
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: drops the ball as he's going into the end zone
- 1:09:45Speaker 6: and Rimondrie Stevenson's game winning touchdown was a blade of
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: the grass, you know, into the end zone. You one
- 1:09:51Speaker 6: last yard and you could have one win. Yeah, then
- 1:09:55Speaker 6: think about it. I mean to see that.
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: That's like, no, Kendall's in North Carolina.
- 1:10:00Speaker 6: Hey Kendall, that's worst all time teams. Hey as you
- 1:10:03Speaker 6: guys doing good.
- 1:10:06Speaker 25: I got a quick question, does Elliott Wolf Does he
- 1:10:09Speaker 25: attend the games? Because I know I watched most games,
- 1:10:11Speaker 25: and I thy teams they put the GMS in their
- 1:10:14Speaker 25: owners like in the press ball. They actually put the
- 1:10:16Speaker 25: camera on him during the game. But I haven't say
- 1:10:19Speaker 25: I don't really see Wolf, Like does he speak during
- 1:10:21Speaker 25: the season that more.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: Of them he's there? Yeah, Usually on the road he's
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: in the press box. And at home, I don't know
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: where he is, but down to the coaches booth or
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: something like just to sit up.
- 1:10:31Speaker 7: Top near us and some of the homes.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: Yep, that's it, okay.
- 1:10:38Speaker 7: I always arrange though, when like we go down a
- 1:10:40Speaker 7: halftime to grab some food and then like comes strutting
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: out and I'm like, you know, walking with someone who's like, God,
- 1:10:46Speaker 7: that was terrible high and it's like.
- 1:10:49Speaker 6: Will walking right this way, Like, do you think you
- 1:10:53Speaker 6: think it's been quiet? I think it's odd that we
- 1:10:55Speaker 6: haven't heard from him Elliott. Yeah, like during the course
- 1:10:59Speaker 6: of the season. I know a lot of fans are
- 1:11:00Speaker 6: starting to wonder why, you know, why isn't he spoken there?
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:03Speaker 6: Yeah, we haven't heard from since August, right.
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: I know, not press conference, which did not go well.
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: Yeah, and I just well, I.
- 1:11:12Speaker 6: Mean we did.
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: If we did hear from him, it would be setting
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: a new precedent for this team because normally we didn't
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: have a GM, so it was all Bill. So you'd
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: be starting a new tradition sort of if you're you know,
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: GM or senior executive vice president whatever his title is,
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: started talking during the season.
- 1:11:33Speaker 7: You never heard from Peoli or Nick cass any of those.
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: Now you didn't hear from until the off season in
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: the draft.
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: I do feel like we got different trade deadline. I
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: want to say one year we.
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: Did get macro trade deadline.
- 1:11:47Speaker 5: Trade deadline okay, but very rare. And I have no
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: problem with him not talking during the season, but he
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: should talk next week.
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: I don't think. I don't think he should talk during
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: the season. I just don't because nothing he says in
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: a bad season can supper and I don't.
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: I don't have the answer because I don't know how
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: other teams are on the league do it. Yeah, so
- 1:12:07Speaker 6: I don't know if like Brett Beach talks, they do
- 1:12:10Speaker 6: talk a lot on a regular basis, not.
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: Like semi regular, and I I I don't necessarily have
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: a problem with it, but like, yeah, you look at
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: you know, just teams around town. I know it's different,
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: different leagues and stuff, but like they have end of year.
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: Press common Oh yeah, yeah, that's different.
- 1:12:26Speaker 6: The owner, the general I would think that we'll have one.
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: Yeah, but I think it's a slippery slope unless it's
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: a regularly scheduled thing. For all of a sudden, your
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: GM pops up, I'm gonna do a press conference this week?
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: Like why this week? Yeah, it's definitely not last week.
- 1:12:41Speaker 6: I think you could probably do it mid season.
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: Again, it's got to be scheduled.
- 1:12:47Speaker 7: I'm saying on the trade deadline, that's.
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: A good time.
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: I just think the Patriots way is different because Bill
- 1:12:53Speaker 6: was the GM, and Bill spoke every day so you
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: didn't need to have Poli or talk. Bill was the.
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: Guy, John writes in he says, I disagree with Fred
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: that we can't know whether it's the coaching or lack
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: of talent that creates repeat mistakes. Everyone called the Chargers
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: a well coached team. Good coaching is putting players in
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: the right spots, receivers not running into each other, defense,
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: rallying to the ball in game, clock management, clear messaging,
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: same with recognizing good talent evaluation. If Mayo and Wolf
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: get fired, who's lining up to hire them? Also, Drake
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: may wasn't mentally broken in college when his coordinator changed.
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: We have the chance to hire the best GM and
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: head coach, clean house, He says.
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: To be fair, Drake May's junior season was way worse
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: than his sophomore season when they changed coordinators. Now, they
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: did lose some guys to the NFL as well, so
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: that was that was part of it. But just to
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: be fair, But I I've come around on the idea
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: of just like with head coaches, I think it's kind
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: of a catch all, but like culture is probably the
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: most important part of you know, who are you going
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: to hire, what's the direction of the program, what's the philosophy?
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: And I just haven't heard enough of that sort of
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: thing with your odd really since the beginning to be
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: like all jazzed up about his future, because I just
- 1:14:22Speaker 5: I don't feel like that. You know, Jim Harbaugh came
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: in with the play, you know, like he set a
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: course for that organization and for what they were going
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: to do. He brought in coordinators that are respected and
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: that are been part of the Harbaugh tree for a
- 1:14:37Speaker 5: very very long time, and you know, that's that's the
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: cell to me with Rabel is that I feel like
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: he is going he would come in here with an
- 1:14:45Speaker 5: idea of how they want to build the program and
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: with coordinator hires and with sort of a structure that
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: he's going to put in place immediately, Whereas I feel
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: like with Dira, because of his experience, it's been more
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: learned on the fly of how exactly we want to
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: do those things. And I think that's kind of how
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: we've gotten to this point.
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: Gary and Harvard. Right sin he says that don't throw
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: away the Christmas gift, and he's talking about that first overall,
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: pick three facts. He says, like all rookies late in
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: the year Drake May's tired, making him much more likely
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: to get hurt. The Giants gave the Patriots an incredible gift.
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: We absolutely cannot squander the first draft pick in this
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: specific draft. It is worth vastly more than the fourth pick.
- 1:15:29Speaker 6: I don't know if I agree with it, it's the opposite.
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:15:32Speaker 6: Again, it depends on I'm not suggesting they should give
- 1:15:35Speaker 6: away the pick or whatever, but I don't understand the
- 1:15:38Speaker 6: mentality that.
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: Getting a second great cornerback would be a dumb move
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: given the other more important needs. So play the rookies
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: that aren't tired, get a bidding war going for pick
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: number one, and trade it for several lower picks and
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: use those on linemen both sides. If Wolf can't pull
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: that off, he needs to go. He and the evaluation
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: staff needed to go after last year's draft. It was
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: obvious to me the day after the draft, and the
- 1:16:03Speaker 4: record proved it. So that's Gary's take.
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: Its obvious to you the day after the draft. You
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: knew the day after the draft that.
- 1:16:11Speaker 6: But those are the kinds of quote unquote plans that
- 1:16:14Speaker 6: I think everybody would agree with. Yeah, trade the pick
- 1:16:17Speaker 6: for a ransom great now get someone to give you
- 1:16:20Speaker 6: a ransom. That's the hard part. I know everybody has
- 1:16:23Speaker 6: the idea, which you know, trade for Dk Metcalf, you
- 1:16:27Speaker 6: trade for Max Crosby, give you know, get a ransom
- 1:16:30Speaker 6: in the drug. Yeah, those are all great plans, I agree,
- 1:16:33Speaker 6: you know, like, is Ronnie Stanley available in free agency
- 1:16:36Speaker 6: for Baltimore? They're not going to resign him. I'll take
- 1:16:38Speaker 6: him too. But that's not like you don't just snap
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: your fingers and all these things happen right like you
- 1:16:44Speaker 6: got to you gotta execute it. What if those guys
- 1:16:46Speaker 6: aren't really available?
- 1:16:47Speaker 7: Is there any world team wants to trade up for
- 1:16:49Speaker 7: Travis Hunter?
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:16:52Speaker 7: That's easy question because right now I just I don't
- 1:16:53Speaker 7: see it. I think teams are just gonna sit and
- 1:16:56Speaker 7: laugh at the Patriots being the first overall pick and saying,
- 1:16:58Speaker 7: you gotta just make that pick because we're not cheating
- 1:17:00Speaker 7: with you. We're gonna wait.
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: For a quarterback. You're Jacksonville in twenty twenty.
- 1:17:04Speaker 6: And so from my view, I do not see a
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: bidding war unfolding either in this draft. If if I'm
- 1:17:09Speaker 6: to take these guys at their word, they talked a
- 1:17:13Speaker 6: lot differently about the draft last year than they're talking
- 1:17:15Speaker 6: about it this year.
- 1:17:16Speaker 5: This sounds exactly like the twenty twenty two draft, which
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: is my biggest fear. The Jaguars were stuck. They had
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: Trevor Lawrence, but they didn't They had the number one
- 1:17:24Speaker 5: overall pick again, and there wasn't really a consensus number
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: one overall guy in the draft. They end up taking
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: Trayvon Walker. He's a good player, but he's not a
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: number one overall pick player, and so now you know,
- 1:17:36Speaker 5: you don't really get anything out of it. It's not
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: the home That's why.
- 1:17:39Speaker 7: That's why it's like Travis Hunter, like, let's go just
- 1:17:42Speaker 7: I mean, he's a special someone. You know, you can
- 1:17:45Speaker 7: get someone that decides that he is worth a ransom
- 1:17:49Speaker 7: to by all means, I think Gary plan but makes
- 1:17:52Speaker 7: all the sense in the world. I just don't think
- 1:17:53Speaker 7: it's as easy to execute.
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: The only way that Travis Hunter is a draw to
- 1:17:58Speaker 5: trade up to the number one pick is if some
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: ownership group needs the Jersey sales and needs the splash
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: and needs the marketing.
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: That's that's a franchise that's not long for this world.
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: But don't be that franchise, right, Let that be somebody
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: else and maybe, I mean, I think that that's crazy,
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: but like maybe there is a world where somebody says,
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: you know, we're going to draft him because he's going
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: to be a phenom and we're going to be able
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: to sell it.
- 1:18:23Speaker 7: You know, it's got to be And that's part of
- 1:18:25Speaker 7: the appeal to me too, Like I'm not gonna lie,
- 1:18:27Speaker 7: like you need somebody who's gonna put butts and seats
- 1:18:29Speaker 7: in excuse me instantly? Training camp gets more interesting with
- 1:18:32Speaker 7: that guy in the mix.
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: Franklin and Baltimore. I'm glad you guys are covering the
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: Patriots holding the number one draft pick, because I also
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: disagree with most of Patriot's nation believing some team would
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: trade a haul for either Ward or Sanders. The value
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: just isn't there this year, and I expect a QB
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: needy team to overpay for Donald slash trade for McCarthy
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: depending on what the Vikings do, or just stick with
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: a bridge quarterback rather than overdraft one. The Patriots were
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: just a year late holding the number one draft pick.
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: If this were last year, then this conversation would make sense.
- 1:19:05Speaker 7: Well, they would also they would have chosen right right.
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: They got lucky I think that they had. They had
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: the third overall pick and a quarterback draft.
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: Three quarterback, six quarterbacks.
- 1:19:17Speaker 6: It's starting to look now like at least five. They
- 1:19:19Speaker 6: haven't seen McCarthy, but you know, Penix, I thought looked
- 1:19:22Speaker 6: pretty good again the other night.
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: I mean that class last year. We're going to look
- 1:19:25Speaker 5: back on that in ten years and be like, what
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: a draft.
- 1:19:27Speaker 6: I didn't even get to do my time management rant.
- 1:19:30Speaker 6: I'll save that for later. I'll save it for Thursday.
- 1:19:33Speaker 4: John says he's got a report contrary to the Dane
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: Brugler report. First to point out that the quarterbacks would
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: be six or seventh and last year's draft is kind
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: of silly because they're not in last year's draft. They're
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: in this one. I know what he's saying, but that's
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: what you do to continue with that.
- 1:19:52Speaker 6: People just want so much to have something good happen.
- 1:19:54Speaker 6: I get it, because Saturday was depressing.
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: I get it to continue with that. Field Yates, who
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: Evan also respects, and mel Kiper had their mock draft
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: podcast and their feeling is because there's only two quarterbacks
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: in this draft, that makes the market for the first
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: pick even hotter. Yates had Shador and cam Ward around
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: the teens as far as prospects go, but said that
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: a QB needy team may may not giving up a
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: ransom such as what the Bears got, but still be
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: looking at potential future first and maybe a player now
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: to each his own, if players want to draft to play.
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: I don't know what he means by here anyway. Anyway,
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: he's saying that because there's only two, you won't get
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: the King's ransom, but you could get more than you think.
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean great, Like I hope it happens, Like
- 1:20:44Speaker 5: I really do hope it happens. I just I just
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: don't see it. I don't see these quarterbacks. It's not
- 1:20:51Speaker 5: because you're not just taking the quarterback, like now, you
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: have to factor in if Shador Sanders really worth the
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: first overall pick plus me trading you know, a future
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: first and you know multiple picks for him, like it's
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: a whole package that you're thinking of trading. I just
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: I don't see that in this draft with these quarterbacks.
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, and I hope I am
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: for the Patriot's sake, But I just don't see it happening.
- 1:21:15Speaker 7: There's a real part of me that just wonders if
- 1:21:17Speaker 7: they might be better off ending up at five, like
- 1:21:19Speaker 7: if that you know, four, whatever the lowest that they
- 1:21:21Speaker 7: could do. I mean, I just I think a lot
- 1:21:23Speaker 7: of us would be on the same page if you said,
- 1:21:24Speaker 7: all right, they're gonna make a trade. They're gonna come
- 1:21:27Speaker 7: away with Kelvin Banks in the top ten, and they're
- 1:21:29Speaker 7: gonna pick up an extra top one hundred pick this year,
- 1:21:32Speaker 7: and you know whatever is next year. But you know,
- 1:21:34Speaker 7: to go into this in this draft with after round one,
- 1:21:36Speaker 7: you've got to tackle, and you've got a couple picks
- 1:21:39Speaker 7: right away in that second round to work with. I
- 1:21:42Speaker 7: think that, like that's probably my dream scenario right now,
- 1:21:45Speaker 7: and then you can you know, look at receivers and
- 1:21:47Speaker 7: look at edge players and all the other needs that
- 1:21:49Speaker 7: you need. But that's if you lined it up perfectly.
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: I just don't know how to get there.
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: Well, that's why I would just make the trade anyway, Like,
- 1:21:55Speaker 5: even if you're really trading it for less than what
- 1:21:57Speaker 5: it would go for another years, Like, I still just
- 1:21:59Speaker 5: think that the extra draft capital is worth it, right
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: because you're you still want to get You're still gonna
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: draft one of the same players, right, it's still gonna
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: be Banks, Abdul Carter, Ted McMillan, Like it might not
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: be Travis Hunter, but okay, Like you're still drafting out
- 1:22:15Speaker 5: of the same pool at four or five as you
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: would be at one in a non quarterback year. So
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: then get whatever you can for it, like get the
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: extra picks and then if you.
- 1:22:24Speaker 7: Just have to take Banks at four, and like maybe
- 1:22:26Speaker 7: it's a little bit of reach, but like it's a
- 1:22:28Speaker 7: real need and he's a legit left eye.
- 1:22:30Speaker 5: Right, and you're taking Banks at four with what you
- 1:22:33Speaker 5: got in the trade, right, you know, so I still
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: do it.
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: Yeah, Speing Fresno writes in this is funny. After Saturday's calamity,
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: I'm in full off season mode. In that spirit, I'd
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: like to present the following catalog of the most overused
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: words or phrases on the show. Here we go. Paul's
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: most overused word is overly, as in I'm not overly
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: concerned with who they pick in the sixth round or
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: I wasn't overly impressed by you. Two close second is
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: saying I'm sorry when not really sorry about anything. Fred's
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: most overused phrases when I was fourteen, but a close
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: second of his use of uh, as in, let's go
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: to the TPX hotline. Mike's used to be I'm curious,
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: but has become it's just so, followed by a dejected adjective,
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: as in, it's just so disappointing or it's just so frustrating.
- 1:23:22Speaker 6: He says that to me, I'm just so disappointed in you.
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: Paul to Evan's most overused word is right. It's the
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: go to filler word of many intellectual types.
- 1:23:31Speaker 22: Right.
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: Also for Evan, Toyota gets an honorable mention. Alex's is
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: anything synonymous with manifest Second place goes to the Chief Chiefs.
- 1:23:42Speaker 6: That Alex Alex, Alex Alex Francisco.
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: Okay, Tamara is any sports cliche as in, you gotta
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: leave it all on the field, or that's why they
- 1:23:53Speaker 4: play the game. No socks is correct, I'm not giving
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: Marine one because he still owes me a T shirt.
- 1:24:00Speaker 4: Andy's was horrific, though truly his most overused expressions were
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: gaseous in nature. That's true. Eric's was nothing because he
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: said anything, because he never said anything. Todds is everything
- 1:24:13Speaker 4: he says because he says nothing. For Patty, I can't
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: tell because he's too effing wasted, and nick Baby loves
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: is Cappy to poopy Cappo, because we all know it's
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: okay to make fun of Italians others in consideration, we're
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: Biggie's horn toots, Christians all right, sweet kids up, y'all,
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: and Hardy's crusty laugh. But those aren't overused since they're
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: all always awesome. It's kind of like a New Year's
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: rap for it. A little bit, A little bit tps
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: houtline A five to five past five hundred. Let's see
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: what's going on over there. We'll start with Nelson in Louisiana.
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: What's up Nelson? Or is that La La? I'm sorry,
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: what's up Nelson? Nelson? He's not there? All right, We'll
- 1:24:58Speaker 4: go down to Florida where Zach is waiting. What's up Zach?
- 1:25:04Speaker 26: Hey, guys, hope you're all doing well. I don't usually
- 1:25:07Speaker 26: get a call in or watch live, so if you've
- 1:25:10Speaker 26: covered this already, my apologies. I had one quick question
- 1:25:13Speaker 26: and then a mini rant i'll take offline. The first is,
- 1:25:16Speaker 26: I know the draft doesn't actually work this way, but
- 1:25:18Speaker 26: if we could add one of Malik neighbors or Joe
- 1:25:21Speaker 26: Alt to the team, right, now, who do you think
- 1:25:22Speaker 26: would have made a bigger impact this season, And then
- 1:25:25Speaker 26: if you guys want to apply that to the receivers
- 1:25:27Speaker 26: and the tackles in this year strapped as well. I
- 1:25:30Speaker 26: know we'll add more through free agency and then through
- 1:25:33Speaker 26: the rest of our draft picks. But I actually think
- 1:25:35Speaker 26: the answer might be Neighbors. I just feel like the
- 1:25:37Speaker 26: way he makes plays and is able to score touchdowns
- 1:25:40Speaker 26: from anywhere on the field would be a huge thing
- 1:25:42Speaker 26: for Drake and this team to have. And then the
- 1:25:45Speaker 26: rank I have is there's two things you can always
- 1:25:47Speaker 26: be regardless of the talent you have on the team,
- 1:25:49Speaker 26: and that's prepared and confident.
- 1:25:51Speaker 24: I don't get a.
- 1:25:52Speaker 26: Call, so some of this is older news, but this
- 1:25:54Speaker 26: team clearly lacks confidence, which I think is on display
- 1:25:57Speaker 26: by Drawn Mayo after the Cardinals game coming out and
- 1:26:00Speaker 26: just listing a bunch of stats and how the game
- 1:26:02Speaker 26: was closer than it actually felt. And it feels like
- 1:26:05Speaker 26: we don't have confidence that we're doing the right thing,
- 1:26:07Speaker 26: so we have to over justify what we're doing to get.
- 1:26:10Speaker 24: To that point.
- 1:26:11Speaker 26: And two is the lack of preparation. I feel like
- 1:26:14Speaker 26: that's on display most weeks, whether it's the Titans game,
- 1:26:17Speaker 26: not electing to go with the win, change in overtime,
- 1:26:20Speaker 26: or other things that have happened along the season. I'm
- 1:26:22Speaker 26: not a fire Mayo guy one hundred percent, but I
- 1:26:25Speaker 26: just don't know how you can justify two elements that
- 1:26:27Speaker 26: are essential to get good teams being completely void on
- 1:26:30Speaker 26: this team and feeling confident that those two elements are
- 1:26:33Speaker 26: going to start to show up. And that's everything I have.
- 1:26:35Speaker 26: I'll take it off the line, guys, thanks.
- 1:26:37Speaker 4: Z that good call.
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: You get confidence by winning and having success, So I
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: think it's hard to have confidence when you're three and thirteen.
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: What about the other part, preparation, and yeah, that.
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: I agree with. I mean, I think preparation and just
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: overall direction are big problems.
- 1:26:55Speaker 6: So I would say that the preparation has been very inconsistent.
- 1:26:59Speaker 6: Like I think the Buffalo game. You come out, you
- 1:27:03Speaker 6: drive right down the field and score, and then you
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: come up with a stop and you drive right down
- 1:27:06Speaker 6: the field and score again. That's good preparation. But then
- 1:27:10Speaker 6: you get the game like this past one, where you
- 1:27:13Speaker 6: can't even move the ball for the first half of
- 1:27:15Speaker 6: the game and the other team's going right down the field.
- 1:27:18Speaker 6: So I think it's been wildly inconsistent. There have been
- 1:27:21Speaker 6: games that I thought early in the game they looked
- 1:27:24Speaker 6: pretty good offense, and then it got progressively worse than
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: there for obvious reasons, right, Like you come up with
- 1:27:30Speaker 6: a good plan. That means you tricked them a little
- 1:27:33Speaker 6: bit for a while, and you overcame your lack of talent.
- 1:27:36Speaker 6: They adjust, and then you don't really have any talents.
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: Listen, we talked about it earlier. They're just not that good.
- 1:27:42Speaker 6: Neighbors or Alt? Who would have made the bigger impact?
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: Go Neighbors.
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: I'd say Neighbors probably makes the biggest year one impact
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: I would have. I would prefer Joe Alt in terms
- 1:27:51Speaker 5: of the long term.
- 1:27:52Speaker 6: He's more cerebral.
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: But I agree, I agree that year one, you know,
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: Neighbors probably would have been more splashy and would have
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: made more plays. But how many wins did the Giants
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: have with Molik Neighbors?
- 1:28:02Speaker 6: No, I don't think it would have made a huge
- 1:28:04Speaker 6: impact on the team. Yeah, per se.
- 1:28:07Speaker 5: But having you know, you wouldn't have Drake Anne neighbors.
- 1:28:09Speaker 5: But in a dream world where you had Drakenn Neighbors,
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: that would be awesome to like move forward with both
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: those guys. I agree with that.
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: Cameron thinks that new uniforms will heal all, so we
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: need new uniforms to heal.
- 1:28:21Speaker 6: This Cameron aka Mike.
- 1:28:23Speaker 7: I'm not willing to loud that, you know, I mean
- 1:28:26Speaker 7: I got a whole take on the uniforms that like
- 1:28:28Speaker 7: they're like a symptom of like why things need to
- 1:28:31Speaker 7: be fixed around here, because the uniforms, you know, we
- 1:28:34Speaker 7: joke about do we like them or not, but like,
- 1:28:37Speaker 7: no matter how you feelbout how they look, like they've
- 1:28:38Speaker 7: just been kind of Frankenstein together. Like this year we're like, hey,
- 1:28:41Speaker 7: let's what if we did these pants with that one?
- 1:28:43Speaker 7: Like there's no real like thought or plan uniforms. So
- 1:28:49Speaker 7: it's kind of a metaphor.
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: I might have hit on it for the whole team
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: of like it might be the key.
- 1:28:53Speaker 7: Have you guys been.
- 1:28:54Speaker 5: Seriously No, I'm dead serious.
- 1:28:55Speaker 6: I had to blow up everything because if.
- 1:29:01Speaker 7: Just I mean even go into like sometimes the wrong
- 1:29:03Speaker 7: numbers are on and people are like the font's wrong
- 1:29:09Speaker 7: on the back sometimes like it's just to me, it
- 1:29:11Speaker 7: speaks to like the uniforms have been Frankenstein. This whole
- 1:29:14Speaker 7: kind of operation has kind of been Frankenstein with pieces
- 1:29:17Speaker 7: from Bill and pieces from Gerard, and I don't know,
- 1:29:20Speaker 7: it's just representative the whole thing.
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: To me, it's great.
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: I think you might be onto something there.
- 1:29:23Speaker 7: I appreciate it.
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: Matt says, I disagree with Paul beating the Bill Sunday
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: is meaningless. Who cares if they beat the Bill's second
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: string and a worst case Travis Hunter is the only
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: can't miss prospect, and picking one assurance at least you
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: get that in the best case someone gives you something
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: for number one pick because they want a quarterback. Even
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: a one and a two is better than picking at four.
- 1:29:47Speaker 6: So how do you disagree with me?
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:29:49Speaker 6: I don't think there's any meaning in beating the Bills
- 1:29:51Speaker 6: on Sunday.
- 1:29:52Speaker 7: No, I just I realize though, it's you. If you
- 1:29:56Speaker 7: just accept and you're okay with the Patriots selecting Travis Hunter,
- 1:29:58Speaker 7: I think it'll be a peaceful spring. But it might
- 1:30:01Speaker 7: be more beneficial to take the stance of like, nope,
- 1:30:03Speaker 7: wrong pick, Nope, don't want them, because I think there
- 1:30:05Speaker 7: are a lot of Travis Hunter stands out there that
- 1:30:08Speaker 7: would really get fired up by those like, yeah, how
- 1:30:10Speaker 7: can you not love him? You know, I do.
- 1:30:12Speaker 22: I do.
- 1:30:13Speaker 7: I'm on your team.
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: But I pushed back on the camp miss thing a
- 1:30:16Speaker 5: little bit Travis Hunter. Yeah, because i'd where's he playing?
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: Like that's such a major factor in him as a
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: player that that in itself is a complication that could lead.
- 1:30:27Speaker 4: See I think to me, in what I've seen of him,
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: and I haven't crushed it like you have, he's shown
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: the attributes of an elite corner. Yes, so you bring
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: him in and he plays prows. Yeah, so you bring
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: him in and your play corner. Now you're in a
- 1:30:44Speaker 4: position where you've got too maybe all pro but certainly
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: Pro Bowl corners on your team. And when it comes
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: time to make a decision, if you don't want to
- 1:30:52Speaker 4: pay both of them, now you've got trade fodder to,
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: you know, to keep building your team.
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: I just worried about if it's this coaching staff and
- 1:31:04Speaker 5: it's this regime, Like getting that right is a factor.
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: Like I'm not saying that they won't necessarily I don't
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: have a lot of faith, but I'm not saying that
- 1:31:11Speaker 5: they won't. But like it's not the talent that's that's
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: like holding me up. It's that's a lot like that's
- 1:31:19Speaker 5: gonna be a lot to negotiate and a lot to
- 1:31:22Speaker 5: sort of make.
- 1:31:22Speaker 4: Then you're worried about anyone they bring in, you know,
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: at at the top pick or.
- 1:31:27Speaker 5: No, not really though, because if you draft Kelvin Banks,
- 1:31:30Speaker 5: like you know, he's playing left tackle, if you draft
- 1:31:32Speaker 5: Abdul Carter, he's coming off the edge, like you you
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: know where these guys are gonna play.
- 1:31:36Speaker 6: So have you had all been concerned with people talking
- 1:31:39Speaker 6: about Banks like I heard other people earlier talking about
- 1:31:42Speaker 6: Campbell as a guard because I hadn't heard that at all,
- 1:31:46Speaker 6: and that sort of made the rounds last last.
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: This is one of my biggest pet peeves is that
- 1:31:54Speaker 5: we get into the draft and every tackle is a guard.
- 1:31:57Speaker 5: Every tackle he's gonna move inside to guard Like okay,
- 1:32:01Speaker 5: well hold on for a second, Like what is your
- 1:32:05Speaker 5: reasoning for moving him inside? Because Campbell, Okay, you can
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: point to the arm light. That's a legitimate reason maybe,
- 1:32:13Speaker 5: But with Banks, I don't see a legitimate reason.
- 1:32:15Speaker 6: He looks typical.
- 1:32:17Speaker 5: I don't see it.
- 1:32:20Speaker 7: Now.
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: Do I think that he's going to be Joe Alt
- 1:32:23Speaker 5: or the next Joe Thomas or whatever? Not necessarily, but
- 1:32:26Speaker 5: I just don't see why we have to move him inside.
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: And with Campbell, like, if he measures in at thirty
- 1:32:31Speaker 5: two and seven eighths and the threshold is thirty three,
- 1:32:35Speaker 5: you're telling me that he automatically has to play guard now, Like,
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: we're not even gonna give him a chance to see
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: if he can play tackle.
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: But first, Like I think I remember talking to Dante
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: and one of the most important things he said was footwork. Yeah,
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: it's how how your feet work is, keeping in position,
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: keeping your base. You can make up for, you know,
- 1:32:56Speaker 4: a tenth of an inch in your arm if your
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: footwork is good.
- 1:32:59Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, I think we do this way too often,
- 1:33:02Speaker 5: and I think the league does it. And then they
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: look around and they're like, we have no tackles. It's like, yeah,
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: because you moved all the college tackles inside to guard right,
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: and so then you end up being a team like
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: the Titans that draft back to back offensive lineman because
- 1:33:15Speaker 5: Skearansky you move, you automatically defaulted to moving him inside.
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: So now the next year you have to draft another tackle.
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: You know, it's like, let's let them fail outside.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: First, you know, developing players, it's all about like does
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: the NFL have enough good quality coaches to develop these people.
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: Bubba says, I can't believe what I'm hearing from Fred
- 1:33:37Speaker 4: and Mike. We need an NFL caliber O line and
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: wide receivers. Those are priorities. The rest is nice. To
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: have defensive tackle and edge rushers are nice, but without
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: an O line and wide receivers, we're wasting Drake's talent.
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: We have a good long term solution a quarterback. Let's
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: building that. Please leave the nonsense in twenty twenty four.
- 1:33:56Speaker 7: Oh all right, so we're not going to touch the
- 1:33:59Speaker 7: worst defense in league. It's that's good. We'll just get
- 1:34:01Speaker 7: some tackles and wide receivers.
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: And we're going to crowbar guys that may not be
- 1:34:04Speaker 4: as good because it's an issue of need. No, you
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: take the best players.
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I've been watching this defense all year
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: and they have needs on that side of the back.
- 1:34:14Speaker 6: They need everything except quarterback.
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: And corner one.
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: They have one corner yep, I'll allow tpx hutline and
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: they have, but they have bigger They have two players
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: that people would say we have answers to the cut.
- 1:34:32Speaker 6: There's fifty three spots. We have two that people feel
- 1:34:35Speaker 6: good about, and we're getting bitchy, getting picky what you
- 1:34:39Speaker 6: guys want and as opposed to what Evan and I want,
- 1:34:42Speaker 6: Like they can pick anything.
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: But I'm also on Fred's side of the street a
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: little bit of Like Mike on would be a perfectly
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: serviceable right now. Yeah, if they had real talent that
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: that we're making the work game changer talent, yes, right,
- 1:34:56Speaker 5: like if you had you know, Hunter Henry is a
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: perfectly capable starting tight end in the NFL. I think
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: Remandre is a decent running back. They just don't have
- 1:35:03Speaker 5: the game changers. Yeah, they don't have the needle movers.
- 1:35:06Speaker 4: Yeah. No, this players of this team I keep, but
- 1:35:09Speaker 4: they're not. Now we need to get into contextion, like.
- 1:35:12Speaker 7: I mean, like these like anphony. Jennings is an example,
- 1:35:14Speaker 7: like yeah, that guy can set the edge in the
- 1:35:16Speaker 7: NFL like that, you know, for whatever it's worth issue.
- 1:35:20Speaker 6: I don't know. He's He's another He's another member of
- 1:35:22Speaker 6: the front seven that can't stop the run. On his
- 1:35:24Speaker 6: job is to stop the run.
- 1:35:26Speaker 5: He does his job.
- 1:35:27Speaker 6: He sometimes sometimes he.
- 1:35:29Speaker 7: Does his job, Paul, you're gonna let us have this.
- 1:35:32Speaker 7: He didn't do can stop the run.
- 1:35:34Speaker 6: He had an awful game in.
- 1:35:36Speaker 7: BA, but he's a rotational piece, right, Like he's a
- 1:35:38Speaker 7: third edge guy. He's a third guy that like, all right,
- 1:35:41Speaker 7: he's gonna prop a little early down, you know, and
- 1:35:44Speaker 7: that's a piece. But so if you get two edge
- 1:35:47Speaker 7: guys and you know you have your you know, your
- 1:35:48Speaker 7: judea On and your McGinnis or whoever it is, then
- 1:35:51Speaker 7: you know, then all right, if you're Jenny's a nice
- 1:35:52Speaker 7: little piece and he's gonna come in and play a
- 1:35:54Speaker 7: good role for you, and you know, and you're not
- 1:35:55Speaker 7: asking him is to do as much you're not asking.
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: That.
- 1:35:59Speaker 6: This is why I agree with you, Mike. I think
- 1:36:01Speaker 6: that like if you you can sell me that wide
- 1:36:04Speaker 6: receivers is the biggest need, left tackles the biggest need.
- 1:36:07Speaker 6: Edge rusher is the big you can sell me on
- 1:36:09Speaker 6: any of these. So that's why I just say you
- 1:36:11Speaker 6: need to evaluate the players and decide which guy you
- 1:36:15Speaker 6: think is the most talented player who's going to have
- 1:36:17Speaker 6: the best career, and pick them because they need to
- 1:36:20Speaker 6: fill a hole everywhere.
- 1:36:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I would also say, like to your point, he
- 1:36:24Speaker 5: is about Anthony Jennings. I think with Bill he was
- 1:36:27Speaker 5: so good at you know, being really hyper specific about roles, right,
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: so he had instead of getting like one really good
- 1:36:35Speaker 5: three down edge rusher, you know, they had Anthony Jennings
- 1:36:38Speaker 5: and Josh j So Anthony Jennings would play on early
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: downs and would play on third downs and they would rotate.
- 1:36:44Speaker 5: Whereas with this team now, with this coaching staff, I
- 1:36:47Speaker 5: feel like they just need to get dudes like I
- 1:36:49Speaker 5: don't think that.
- 1:36:50Speaker 6: Was on the team this year. Do you remember that.
- 1:36:53Speaker 5: I just don't think that they can do it that
- 1:36:54Speaker 5: way anymore. I think Bill had a really unique skill
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: of being able to piece it together and knowing how
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: to use everybody exactly how they need to be used.
- 1:37:03Speaker 5: I think you just need to draft Abdul Carter and
- 1:37:05Speaker 5: hope that he can play on all three downs.
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: That's why some of draft Bill's draft picks story about him.
- 1:37:10Speaker 4: Some of Bill's draft picks, so, you know, kind of
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: like head scratching, because he wanted players who he could.
- 1:37:17Speaker 7: Use like chess pieces, role specific, right, But then you
- 1:37:21Speaker 7: end up where you're kind of at this year. We
- 1:37:22Speaker 7: have a bunch of different role pieces, but you can't
- 1:37:25Speaker 7: put them together to just play fundamental defense when you
- 1:37:28Speaker 7: need to, Like, you know, I think that's the biggest
- 1:37:31Speaker 7: thing I've seen this year. They just i mean, they
- 1:37:32Speaker 7: have nothing to hang their hat on. They don't take
- 1:37:34Speaker 7: the ball away, they don't stop the run, they don't
- 1:37:35Speaker 7: rush the passer. They're just they're kind of out there getting.
- 1:37:38Speaker 6: Pushed and then like the offensive line for all the talk,
- 1:37:40Speaker 6: you know, and people are going to be laughing because
- 1:37:43Speaker 6: I'm always the guy. Yeah, just figured that out. Mike
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: Reese tweets out today that they're dead land and whatever.
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: The ESPN rankings are dead last in both like.
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: Like across the board, like whether you use win rate PFF.
- 1:37:58Speaker 6: Grow win rating, like run block win rate in past
- 1:38:03Speaker 6: block win rate dead last the worst offensive. Now there
- 1:38:06Speaker 6: are teams that are you know, somehow find a way
- 1:38:09Speaker 6: to do things despite that, like Cincinnatienties. Yeah, just you
- 1:38:16Speaker 6: gotta get just be serviceable.
- 1:38:18Speaker 7: Right, It's i mean, it's kind of special in a
- 1:38:20Speaker 7: negative way to be this poorly ranked and everything. Like
- 1:38:23Speaker 7: even you know some of the past page it seems
- 1:38:25Speaker 7: like they'd be bad at a couple of things, but
- 1:38:27Speaker 7: you knew they'd always have a couple of things that
- 1:38:29Speaker 7: they did well.
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: Jar Jared District of Columbia, what's up, Jared?
- 1:38:35Speaker 24: Thank guys, how's it going?
- 1:38:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:38:39Speaker 24: I just wanted to point out the draft.
- 1:38:42Speaker 22: Is like three D tests, right, you got you have the.
- 1:38:45Speaker 24: Best players available for your team and the opponent's team.
- 1:38:49Speaker 24: So sometimes it's on record GM saying that they'll take
- 1:38:52Speaker 24: a guy just so another team doesn't.
- 1:38:53Speaker 22: Take a guy.
- 1:38:55Speaker 24: I proposed that. I proposed an idea of dang within
- 1:38:59Speaker 24: the top four, hopefully getting Travis Hunter, and then trading
- 1:39:03Speaker 24: back into the first round to take a tackle like
- 1:39:05Speaker 24: Wyatt Millium. I think it's perfectly feasible if Elliott Wolf
- 1:39:10Speaker 24: knows what he's doing in the draft.
- 1:39:11Speaker 22: Secondly, to keep the.
- 1:39:13Speaker 6: Rod male, they make it sound like it's easy.
- 1:39:16Speaker 24: You would have to change the offensive coordinator. And if
- 1:39:19Speaker 24: that doesn't work for a year or two, you're giving
- 1:39:21Speaker 24: Drake made three different offensive coordinators in three different years.
- 1:39:25Speaker 22: That destroys quarterback.
- 1:39:27Speaker 5: Why are we training?
- 1:39:27Speaker 22: I would say, you got to clear how, you got
- 1:39:30Speaker 22: to get rid of Mail, you got to get rid
- 1:39:31Speaker 22: of Wolf and give give Drake May a chance with
- 1:39:36Speaker 22: a head coach that knows what he's doing and offensive
- 1:39:39Speaker 22: coordinators that don't coach cowardly.
- 1:39:41Speaker 16: Thanks guy, all right?
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: Thanks Eric.
- 1:39:43Speaker 6: Like the whole changing offensive coordinators, I totally readily admit
- 1:39:47Speaker 6: is not the ideal situation, but there's a lot of
- 1:39:50Speaker 6: guys that have dealt with that and been fine.
- 1:39:52Speaker 7: Yeah, well I think too. I mean, maybe Evan can
- 1:39:55Speaker 7: speak to this little more than I can, but we're
- 1:39:57Speaker 7: generally speaking. I don't think van Pelt's parents system is
- 1:40:02Speaker 7: this crazy thing where you know, there are a lot
- 1:40:04Speaker 7: of other coordinators that probably would have a lot of
- 1:40:06Speaker 7: crossover with alexman Pelt, whereas if you were to go
- 1:40:09Speaker 7: to McDaniels, I think that is kind of a jarring
- 1:40:11Speaker 7: switch where now you're asking Drake to make line calls,
- 1:40:13Speaker 7: you're putting a lot more on his plate.
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: Like that is Ash should be smart enough to know
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: that what Tom Brady did, Drake may isn't ready to
- 1:40:21Speaker 4: do yet.
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: Unless I'm more worried about the language change, Like it's
- 1:40:27Speaker 5: right the concepts of the concepts, Like I don't think
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: NFL teams are running concepts that are totally different from
- 1:40:33Speaker 5: system to system. But it's like it's a little like
- 1:40:36Speaker 5: speaking Italian instead of Spanish.
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: Just as Cam Newton, they changed it all came back
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: from COVID.
- 1:40:40Speaker 6: But Mike is right, they're gonna put a it's a
- 1:40:43Speaker 6: lot different system it's not because of the play necessarily.
- 1:40:48Speaker 6: The only thing I could say for Josh mcgenials on
- 1:40:50Speaker 6: the plus side would be that if it works, he
- 1:40:52Speaker 6: probably would be here for a while. Yeah, yeah, you could.
- 1:40:55Speaker 6: You could conceivably see him hopefully being with Drake May's
- 1:40:58Speaker 6: entire career, because yeah, I don't think Josh mcgenial is
- 1:41:01Speaker 6: getting another head coaching job or he's even certainly not
- 1:41:04Speaker 6: going to get you know, one really quickly.
- 1:41:08Speaker 5: I just don't understand, Like with van Pell, I just
- 1:41:11Speaker 5: really feel like you're scapegoating Van Pelt if he's the
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: one that goes. And I'm not saying you can't upgrade
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: Alex Vampell, because everybody can probably be upgraded on this staff,
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: but like, is that really the side of the ball
- 1:41:23Speaker 5: that's been the worst? Is that really the side of
- 1:41:26Speaker 5: the ball that should take the heavy criticism when he's
- 1:41:29Speaker 5: got like starting out of the offensive line and you know,
- 1:41:32Speaker 5: stuff like that.
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: If you're either the Crafts Drod Mayo or Elliott Wolf,
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: how much of Drake May's opinion do you take in
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: a candid one on one conversation about Alex van Pel,
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: Like if he tells you no, he's really good I've
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: learned a lot from him.
- 1:41:49Speaker 6: Keep him zero points zero one person.
- 1:41:52Speaker 4: You don't care?
- 1:41:53Speaker 6: Do I not care? I said zero point zero one percent?
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: You don't care?
- 1:41:56Speaker 6: I just like, what is he going to say? This
- 1:41:58Speaker 6: guy's a train.
- 1:41:59Speaker 4: Round after the season. This isn't public, this is just
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: between the two of us.
- 1:42:04Speaker 6: I would assume that he likes Alex van pell.
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: Okay, duly so, But does that mean anything to you?
- 1:42:11Speaker 7: No, okay, I'm with Paul on that one. I mean,
- 1:42:13Speaker 7: I respect Drake's opinion, but we got to do what's
- 1:42:17Speaker 7: best for the organization. I just what E said for Drake.
- 1:42:20Speaker 7: That's what scares me.
- 1:42:21Speaker 6: Drake doesn't know what's best for him. That's that's why
- 1:42:23Speaker 6: I wouldn't hear him out. I don't know how much
- 1:42:25Speaker 6: I'm not making. I didn't say it's zero, it's just
- 1:42:28Speaker 6: you know, of smidgeon above zero. And I would also
- 1:42:31Speaker 6: say that I agree, you know, in large part what
- 1:42:34Speaker 6: Evan said. I think Alex van Pelt is out of
- 1:42:38Speaker 6: those guys has done his job the best. I said
- 1:42:40Speaker 6: this in the postgame show. I said it on Our
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: Chin Wag on the other post game show on the
- 1:42:44Speaker 6: Sports Hub, Wolf Mayo Covington van Pelt. All four of
- 1:42:49Speaker 6: them have sort of been under fire. I think a
- 1:42:52Speaker 6: strong argument can be made that Van Pelt has done
- 1:42:54Speaker 6: his job better than the other.
- 1:42:55Speaker 7: Three, but he seems like he's the guy that's gonna
- 1:42:58Speaker 7: they make him walk the plank. I think that is
- 1:43:00Speaker 7: a terrible, terrible way to go about this too.
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: If he's the only one.
- 1:43:03Speaker 7: Take the one guy who is the outsider, not good
- 1:43:06Speaker 7: to actually had the hardest job and actually did some
- 1:43:09Speaker 7: good things with your most important player, and then to
- 1:43:12Speaker 7: make him the sacrificial lamb for this season, you know,
- 1:43:15Speaker 7: without addressing the defense or the scouting staff or anything
- 1:43:18Speaker 7: else that.
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: Lucas and Maine says. I have a wrap up of
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: the year by each month on how people were feeling.
- 1:43:26Speaker 4: January happy season was over and looking forward to the draft. February, May, May,
- 1:43:31Speaker 4: May mostly from Evan, but everyone agreed. March even more. May.
- 1:43:35Speaker 4: You guys were obsessed, but so was I. April draft, Draft, Draft,
- 1:43:39Speaker 4: we got May and Poke looks good. May optimism from
- 1:43:42Speaker 4: everyone except for Paul, but that was to be expected. June,
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: Poke looks great. In May they both look amazing in shorts.
- 1:43:50Speaker 4: July we have a little bit of optimism especially from
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: the defense. On the defense from Mike, Okay, I think
- 1:43:58Speaker 4: he means that you were optimistic. August season is almost here.
- 1:44:02Speaker 4: Who was going to start? May should start? Jacoby should not.
- 1:44:06Speaker 4: September we won our first game and kept the competitive
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: in the next few. Maybe it's okay that May is sitting.
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: October put May in.
- 1:44:14Speaker 6: Not few, but next one. They were competitive in October
- 1:44:18Speaker 6: put May in. Poke looks horrible and we don't have
- 1:44:20Speaker 6: a defense or offense. November. May looks great, but nothing
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: else does except God. So let's go to the draft December.
- 1:44:27Speaker 6: This is a bad, bad team. Even Mike can't say
- 1:44:30Speaker 6: the defense is good. It's a dumpster fire except May
- 1:44:33Speaker 6: and Gonzo. Let's go to the draft. Thank you guys
- 1:44:36Speaker 6: for keeping us informed. I don't miss an episode even
- 1:44:38Speaker 6: though I'm sixteen. You guys keep me entertained, and I
- 1:44:41Speaker 6: truly appreciate it.
- 1:44:43Speaker 4: So there you go.
- 1:44:45Speaker 7: See, we're starting him young.
- 1:44:46Speaker 6: Even the sixteen year old's a snarky with me.
- 1:44:48Speaker 5: I'm very sorry that you are becoming a Patriots fan
- 1:44:51Speaker 5: at this time instead of when I was sixteen.
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: And you'll appreciate it every other year. You'll appreciate it
- 1:44:57Speaker 4: more when they get back.
- 1:44:58Speaker 6: Most guys get credited when they accurately portray something. I
- 1:45:01Speaker 6: get scorned and mocked.
- 1:45:02Speaker 4: And rikieled Robert, Nevada, what's up, Robert?
- 1:45:08Speaker 24: Hello, I just had one quick question. What side of defense?
- 1:45:15Speaker 24: Are you guys on the fire Mayo side? Or keeps
- 1:45:18Speaker 24: him for next year? So I don't know if you
- 1:45:19Speaker 24: guys already talked about that or not, but I'll take
- 1:45:22Speaker 24: that off the air.
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: Thank you, Okay, thank you. Are we on the fire
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: mail or keep them?
- 1:45:29Speaker 6: I'm on the keep them, but short leash. I haven't
- 1:45:32Speaker 6: liked a lot of what I've seen. I just think
- 1:45:34Speaker 6: you knew what you were getting into. It's a little
- 1:45:37Speaker 6: bit bumpier than I expected, but this is what you
- 1:45:40Speaker 6: believed in. I think to just completely change course it's
- 1:45:43Speaker 6: a bad signal. So I guess right now I'm on
- 1:45:46Speaker 6: the keep them for another year.
- 1:45:47Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I just what hits home for me
- 1:45:49Speaker 7: is the short leash. And you know, there's just isn't
- 1:45:53Speaker 7: really much to believe right now, Like it's hard to
- 1:45:55Speaker 7: believe the message from them.
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: I'm worried. I'm worried, and I was always on the
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: keep mail, but I'm worried because nothing has improved. Yeah,
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: you can say that.
- 1:46:06Speaker 6: I can't argue with that.
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: You can say that under the umbrella of first year
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: head coach, you knew things were going to be rocky
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: and fair enough, but you expected that like some things
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: would show as the season progressed, and as he learns
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: in season thinks some things would get better. And I
- 1:46:22Speaker 4: don't see any sign of that. So if I'm Robert
- 1:46:24Speaker 4: Kraft or Jonathan Kraft, who I assume is making the call,
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know. I guess I have to.
- 1:46:33Speaker 4: I got to look him in the eye and say,
- 1:46:34Speaker 4: what's going on, man, Like, tell me why I should
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: keep you. You got to make a strong case to
- 1:46:41Speaker 4: me because you haven't shown sides of growth. And I
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: know it's only one season, but even the micro steps,
- 1:46:49Speaker 4: I haven't seen that. Now I say that, and I
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: always say that we meaning this show, and even you know,
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: the scribes, we don't have the information that the Crafts
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: have or Elliott Wolf has, so we're at a disadvantage.
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: We only know what we see and hear, so for
- 1:47:06Speaker 4: us to make a judgment, it's always tough, not just
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: with Mayo but with Wolf and all these assistant coaches.
- 1:47:11Speaker 4: We don't know who's really doing a good job and
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: who isn't and how much of it is the players
- 1:47:16Speaker 4: and how much we just don't have that info, so
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: we can only go with what we see, and what
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: I've seen is no improvement, what's soever. And that really
- 1:47:26Speaker 4: really scares me because this is a critical off season.
- 1:47:30Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I just feels like everything has been on
- 1:47:33Speaker 5: shaky ground since really he took over the job, where
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: it just feels like everything is just kind of flying
- 1:47:40Speaker 5: by the seat of your pants a little bit, without
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: a real plan and without the experience to pull from
- 1:47:45Speaker 5: to formulate a really good plan. And I just it's
- 1:47:49Speaker 5: hard to envision it getting better in terms of, you know,
- 1:47:53Speaker 5: what does he do bring to the table and what
- 1:47:55Speaker 5: does he do well, and you know, whether it's schematic
- 1:47:58Speaker 5: or it's just from a culture direction standpoint. Now that
- 1:48:02Speaker 5: being said, I would like to know who they could
- 1:48:05Speaker 5: get right and who's coming in. And that's the thing
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: that that's huge. Even more so, the craft would would
- 1:48:11Speaker 5: probably be able to know, you know, ten times more
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: than we could.
- 1:48:15Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:48:16Speaker 5: So if you're telling me that today Mike Rabel or Girodmeo,
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: I'm probably taking Rabel yeah, help me too.
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: And yeah, now I think it was not last postgame.
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: We made it the last one that we had a
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: home game. I said, you know, to Patriots fans, I say,
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: you know, you're praying that Mayo does get better. Rather
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: than having to start over with a new coach and
- 1:48:38Speaker 4: a new regime and all that, you're praying that Mayo
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: can get the hang of it, and that way you
- 1:48:44Speaker 4: have the continuity that said changes have to be made otherwise,
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: but you're hoping that Mayo is the guy, because then
- 1:48:52Speaker 4: then I think the redemption for the team is quicker
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: than having to start over. But you know, I don't know,
- 1:48:59Speaker 4: tell me, tell me what the plan is if Mayo's
- 1:49:02Speaker 4: not going to be here.
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: I just also, you know, the last thing, I just
- 1:49:06Speaker 5: it hasn't been a lot of players, but Kean White
- 1:49:11Speaker 5: coming out and being as disgruntled as he's sound over
- 1:49:14Speaker 5: the last couple of days. And I give him some credit,
- 1:49:17Speaker 5: honestly for standing on it after the game. This was
- 1:49:20Speaker 5: not a Kishon Boody walk back. This was I feel
- 1:49:23Speaker 5: this way, and I still feel this way to days later.
- 1:49:25Speaker 6: He's also calling himself out for not playing well. Yeah,
- 1:49:28Speaker 6: which I like that part. Of it now. You said
- 1:49:30Speaker 6: it last week when you came in with those quotes
- 1:49:33Speaker 6: before he added the stuff about the coaches.
- 1:49:36Speaker 7: Yeah, that was the one on the changes.
- 1:49:39Speaker 5: I just worry with that is at the tip of
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: the iceberg of players starting to really get disgrunted. And
- 1:49:46Speaker 5: that's one of your young talented players on this roster,
- 1:49:48Speaker 5: one of your few, and now all of a sudden,
- 1:49:51Speaker 5: if that trickles to Christian Goanzalez, and that trickles to
- 1:49:53Speaker 5: Drake May, and that trickles to other guys in that
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: locker room, then you really have a problem on your hand.
- 1:49:58Speaker 7: It's a really tight rope to walk, and I mean
- 1:50:00Speaker 7: with Gerard Stays like they're going to have to figure
- 1:50:02Speaker 7: out a way to get the fan base excited and
- 1:50:04Speaker 7: enthusiastic about you know, there has to be other changes made.
- 1:50:08Speaker 7: But one point I'd like to make Fred is I'd
- 1:50:10Speaker 7: like to know what's the deal with the scouting staff
- 1:50:13Speaker 7: Like this this draft felt just as inept as the
- 1:50:15Speaker 7: last ones did. How much are all these people involved?
- 1:50:18Speaker 7: How much has Elliott Wolf been overseeing these previous couple drafts.
- 1:50:21Speaker 7: How much input did he have any of these picks?
- 1:50:24Speaker 7: The you know, all the other people that have. You know, essentially,
- 1:50:26Speaker 7: I think the scouting staff mostly stayed the same. That
- 1:50:29Speaker 7: is getting a serious look critically from me because the
- 1:50:33Speaker 7: drafts have been bad and that, like we can talk
- 1:50:35Speaker 7: about coaching, sure, but you gotta pick talented players, like
- 1:50:38Speaker 7: they have to find ways to find these guys that
- 1:50:41Speaker 7: I mean, it's gonna take forever. They're gonna be chasing
- 1:50:43Speaker 7: their tails if they don't start stacking drafts where they're
- 1:50:46Speaker 7: hitting on three guys three guys. I mean, you can't
- 1:50:49Speaker 7: do it one a year, one a year. You're gonna
- 1:50:51Speaker 7: be stuck in the same position.
- 1:50:52Speaker 5: Yeah, it's also tough to say, like is it there's
- 1:50:55Speaker 5: I think I you know, I agree with Paul that
- 1:50:57Speaker 5: there's there's a developmental aspect of this too, Like is
- 1:51:00Speaker 5: Jalen Polk just bad or is he getting bad coaching?
- 1:51:04Speaker 5: You know, is he getting bad coaching? Is you know
- 1:51:07Speaker 5: any of these guys you know, Baker Leyden Robinson, like
- 1:51:10Speaker 5: any of these players that have come in. And I
- 1:51:12Speaker 5: think the only way that you really stabilize this thing
- 1:51:15Speaker 5: with Mayo is you go out and free agency and
- 1:51:17Speaker 5: you spend a bunch of money on proven veteran talent
- 1:51:21Speaker 5: that it's pretty they've there are no more talent complaints
- 1:51:24Speaker 5: right their finished products. You know you signed T Higgins
- 1:51:27Speaker 5: like you don't need to coach up T Higgins.
- 1:51:30Speaker 4: For Quinn Williams and Garrett Wolfs sure.
- 1:51:32Speaker 5: Like you already know those guys can play in the league.
- 1:51:34Speaker 5: So you're not handing him rookies that he's trying to develop.
- 1:51:37Speaker 5: You're handing him finished.
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: Prom Speaking of veterans, I don't know about proven talent,
- 1:51:41Speaker 4: but we should say that it's being widely reported. Incway
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: has been released.
- 1:51:45Speaker 6: It's been confirmed.
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: It's been confirmed. Yes, okay, no.
- 1:51:48Speaker 6: Schefter tweeted that this morning, and yeah, we didn't mention
- 1:51:52Speaker 6: it was a waiver claim that I personally didn't see
- 1:51:55Speaker 6: much sense in what at the time that they made it.
- 1:51:56Speaker 6: And certainly he didn't he didn't do it. He didn't
- 1:51:59Speaker 6: do anything that you changed my mind.
- 1:52:01Speaker 4: Why. It's how desperate they were to just get a
- 1:52:04Speaker 4: little edge rush. They didn't get it. But that's that's
- 1:52:07Speaker 4: what I think.
- 1:52:08Speaker 7: Is it just to give him a chance today to
- 1:52:09Speaker 7: maybe catch on with another team, because he sure didn't
- 1:52:11Speaker 7: show much here to make me think that there are
- 1:52:13Speaker 7: teams that are going to be Oh.
- 1:52:15Speaker 6: No, I think it's too late, right, if it's app
- 1:52:17Speaker 6: Oh no, you can still do it this week, right,
- 1:52:21Speaker 6: Like I'm thinking of the whole Kaleis Campbell thing in Miami.
- 1:52:25Speaker 6: Like Dave said, if they had gotten eliminated, they were
- 1:52:27Speaker 6: going to release him to give him a chance to
- 1:52:29Speaker 6: catch on with the playoff team. But now they're still alive. Sorry,
- 1:52:32Speaker 6: I don't know if you guys watched any of that
- 1:52:33Speaker 6: game the other day. He was unbelievable.
- 1:52:35Speaker 7: He's just it's like thirty eight. Yeah, he keeps going.
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: Still Neil and New Brunswick. I'm getting a little tired
- 1:52:42Speaker 4: of the At least we got our quarterback narrative, did
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: we Maybe? But if we're going to be real, we're
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: doing a pretty massive projection when we say that. I've
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: heard him called a franchise quarterback by some media. He
- 1:52:54Speaker 4: has more concussions than wins. He has ten interceptions, nine fumbles.
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: Oh and the guy he replaced has won more games
- 1:53:01Speaker 4: on an equally brutal team. Yeah, Mac Jones, and he's terrible.
- 1:53:05Speaker 4: I think may is a guy, but it's in pencil,
- 1:53:08Speaker 4: not penn And if we keep Mayo, Wolf and crew,
- 1:53:11Speaker 4: we'll be wasting another twelve months of his potential development.
- 1:53:14Speaker 4: I really think we need to get a modern offensive
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: coach for May to make sure we do everything possible
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: to make him into a franchise quarterback.
- 1:53:24Speaker 5: I think it's fair to say that he's not a
- 1:53:27Speaker 5: finished product. I pushed back a little bit on the
- 1:53:29Speaker 5: mat like if he had Brian Thomas Junior and those
- 1:53:32Speaker 5: receivers that they have in Jacksonville, I think he'd be
- 1:53:34Speaker 5: a lot better off than he is now. But I
- 1:53:37Speaker 5: understand the general point that I do think. I wouldn't
- 1:53:40Speaker 5: say crowned, but like, you know, where he has the
- 1:53:43Speaker 5: traits of a franchise quarterback. Now we got to mold
- 1:53:46Speaker 5: the clay a little.
- 1:53:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm with Evan, and I would say that somewhere
- 1:53:51Speaker 6: in between the and I think this emailer is really
- 1:53:54Speaker 6: accurately portraying it. I think that he's been crowned here
- 1:53:58Speaker 6: by a lot of the local media, and I would
- 1:54:01Speaker 6: be somewhere in between that in that email, because I
- 1:54:04Speaker 6: think Evan's right to push back a little bit on
- 1:54:06Speaker 6: the email. I just if I'm going to be completely
- 1:54:12Speaker 6: convinced that I don't have anything to worry about at
- 1:54:14Speaker 6: that position, I'd like to see at least like a
- 1:54:16Speaker 6: three hundred yard thirty plus point performance, and we didn't
- 1:54:19Speaker 6: get any of those. And I don't care what happened Sunday.
- 1:54:21Speaker 6: That doesn't matter against the JVS. Like I think two
- 1:54:26Speaker 6: hundred and eighty yards is like his career high. They're
- 1:54:28Speaker 6: not losing these games thirty eight thirty four. And I
- 1:54:31Speaker 6: understand the limitations of talent around him, but I also
- 1:54:34Speaker 6: see some of the issues have been him, and I
- 1:54:37Speaker 6: think Evan did a great job of illustrating some of
- 1:54:39Speaker 6: the stuff in this last game against the Chargers, where
- 1:54:42Speaker 6: he didn't necessarily handle some of the adversity well that
- 1:54:46Speaker 6: he faced. I still think he's a guy who runs
- 1:54:48Speaker 6: around recklessly. I think even when he came back into
- 1:54:51Speaker 6: the game on Saturday, he ran around recklessly a little bit.
- 1:54:55Speaker 6: So to me, the thing that is like a no brainer,
- 1:54:59Speaker 6: no doubt. He has the requisitibility to play at a
- 1:55:02Speaker 6: high level in the NFL. He can run, he can throw,
- 1:55:07Speaker 6: he moves throws off platform, and he certainly appears to
- 1:55:11Speaker 6: have displayed an aptitude for the position. The rest is
- 1:55:16Speaker 6: completely unknown. And I think that a lot of my colleagues,
- 1:55:20Speaker 6: one of which I respect greatly, Phil Perry said that
- 1:55:24Speaker 6: he is a top five quarterback, and I just don't
- 1:55:28Speaker 6: know what you've seen to prove that. That's what he's called.
- 1:55:30Speaker 4: The biggest thing we haven't had a chance to see
- 1:55:32Speaker 4: yet his clutch. We don't know how he is in
- 1:55:34Speaker 4: the clutch. And that's what this league is all about, quarterback.
- 1:55:37Speaker 4: It's how how are you when you're two points down
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: with a minute left and no timeouts.
- 1:55:43Speaker 6: They went down a whole list of quarterbacks and he
- 1:55:45Speaker 6: said he would he got May over this one, May
- 1:55:48Speaker 6: over this one, and I was just like, I feel
- 1:55:51Speaker 6: like I'm in bizarro world and I am as big
- 1:55:54Speaker 6: a Drake May guy as there is. I wanted to
- 1:55:57Speaker 6: draft him from the very start, and I wanted to
- 1:55:59Speaker 6: play him from the very start. I was with fred
- 1:56:02Speaker 6: On Thatt right from this. I know Evan was, you know,
- 1:56:04Speaker 6: stronger than we all worked. As the emailer earlier said,
- 1:56:08Speaker 6: we were all on the May bandwagon. And I haven't
- 1:56:10Speaker 6: seen anything to say I was wrong. But I also
- 1:56:14Speaker 6: haven't seen anything to say he's one of the best
- 1:56:17Speaker 6: quarterbacks in the league now, Like I haven't seen that.
- 1:56:20Speaker 5: Yeah, he does a really nice job of, you know,
- 1:56:24Speaker 5: already coverages for a young quarterback, reading rotation, understanding you
- 1:56:29Speaker 5: know where the weaknesses and the spaces in certain zones,
- 1:56:32Speaker 5: Like understanding, okay, this is man to man and I
- 1:56:35Speaker 5: have to throw the ball you know, here or there
- 1:56:37Speaker 5: or whatever to get the receiver open, like throws guys open.
- 1:56:40Speaker 5: Understand zone coverage, like he's he's got it all. But
- 1:56:44Speaker 5: it hasn't been a finished product. I mean, I still
- 1:56:47Speaker 5: feel like the biggest thing to me that I want
- 1:56:50Speaker 5: to hone in with him, he leaves the pocket too
- 1:56:53Speaker 5: much when he doesn't have to.
- 1:56:54Speaker 6: Has he really even had one complete, really good game
- 1:56:59Speaker 6: like sixty minutes.
- 1:57:02Speaker 5: Maybe the Colts. He was really really close against the
- 1:57:05Speaker 5: Rams and the Colts, Like he played really well in
- 1:57:08Speaker 5: both those games. But you know, the Fred's point.
- 1:57:12Speaker 6: I didn't like the end of the the Rams game.
- 1:57:13Speaker 6: The Colts game, I think was pretty close.
- 1:57:16Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, you get you know, but that's the
- 1:57:17Speaker 5: Fred's point, right, Like he had a chance at the
- 1:57:19Speaker 5: end of the Rams game. It would have been a
- 1:57:21Speaker 5: ninety yard touchdown drive to win the game with like
- 1:57:23Speaker 5: a minute left, But he had had a chance and
- 1:57:25Speaker 5: he threw a pick.
- 1:57:26Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, those would be my two choices. Yeah, certainly
- 1:57:29Speaker 6: the Rams and Colts. I don't know, I just feel
- 1:57:33Speaker 6: like people got to I think the email is premise
- 1:57:35Speaker 6: is right. I think that people are getting ahead of them.
- 1:57:37Speaker 4: So sure little bit.
- 1:57:39Speaker 6: Ethan's proud of them. A meeting today, West Kentucky. What's up, Ethan?
- 1:57:46Speaker 27: Hey, you got a long time no call? Hey Hey,
- 1:57:49Speaker 27: I was just gonna get on here and ran a
- 1:57:50Speaker 27: little bit. Like part of my problem with Mayo and
- 1:57:53Speaker 27: the Patriots and this coaching staff is, and y'all touched
- 1:57:56Speaker 27: on it earlier, we have yet to even come close
- 1:57:58Speaker 27: to finding an identity. Uh, you know, like not to
- 1:58:03Speaker 27: keep going back to when we were good. But on
- 1:58:06Speaker 27: defense and defense, you know, back in the day, we
- 1:58:08Speaker 27: would sit back and we play a really hot match
- 1:58:10Speaker 27: look or you know, play man and bring pressure and sure,
- 1:58:13Speaker 27: we're gonna give up underneath stuff. We're going to give
- 1:58:15Speaker 27: up the hitches, we're gonna give up the seams and
- 1:58:17Speaker 27: cover three. But once we get down in the red zone,
- 1:58:19Speaker 27: we're going.
- 1:58:19Speaker 24: To stop you.
- 1:58:20Speaker 27: You're gonna kick a still gull and we're gonna get
- 1:58:21Speaker 27: the ball back. I mean, on defense, it just looks
- 1:58:24Speaker 27: like we run around, you know, not knowing what's going on,
- 1:58:29Speaker 27: you know, not believing in the scheme we're running. We
- 1:58:31Speaker 27: can't get pass rush, we can't play man coverage, and
- 1:58:34Speaker 27: I mean all of that just points back to coaching.
- 1:58:36Speaker 27: I mean, there's just no way around it. I know
- 1:58:37Speaker 27: there's a severe lack of talent, but when you can't
- 1:58:40Speaker 27: form an identity or you can't say, hey, we're not
- 1:58:43Speaker 27: that great talent lies, but we're going to be really
- 1:58:45Speaker 27: good at one thing. We're gonna play toss or we're
- 1:58:48Speaker 27: not going to blow assignments, you know, and all that,
- 1:58:50Speaker 27: and then you go to offense and like we bounced
- 1:58:53Speaker 27: back and forward between the West Coast bread offense and
- 1:58:56Speaker 27: under center vertical power run and you know we're not
- 1:59:00Speaker 27: like you know, Drake Mayser only playmaker a booty's looks
- 1:59:02Speaker 27: trying and you know, reminder is okay, but you have
- 1:59:05Speaker 27: to you know, call plays and structure an offense around
- 1:59:09Speaker 27: your playmaker. You know, look what Todd Munkin did in
- 1:59:12Speaker 27: Baltimore as Amar, because when he came out there was
- 1:59:14Speaker 27: a lot of doubts and it wasn't you know, this
- 1:59:16Speaker 27: sure thing, and he's gonna end up being, you know,
- 1:59:18Speaker 27: a top fifteen quarterback of all time. Where you look
- 1:59:21Speaker 27: with Kingsbury's done with Daniels in Washington, and it's like,
- 1:59:24Speaker 27: we just want to line up under center and we're
- 1:59:27Speaker 27: going to be this hard running football team and we're
- 1:59:30Speaker 27: going to run to sit up the pass player action
- 1:59:33Speaker 27: and we're just not playing to anybody's strength. And I
- 1:59:36Speaker 27: just don't get it. It's like, why are we going
- 1:59:38Speaker 27: to stick with this Cleveland Brown you know, vertical power
- 1:59:42Speaker 27: run and I just, you know, it's just so frustrating,
- 1:59:45Speaker 27: and you know, this team's not tough, and you know,
- 1:59:48Speaker 27: just like what Andrey Jennings said to the media about
- 1:59:51Speaker 27: the fans, you.
- 1:59:51Speaker 9: Know, we have it right.
- 1:59:52Speaker 27: We're not schooled. We've watched five years of Arendous football
- 1:59:55Speaker 27: and I'm so sick of it. And I know I'm
- 1:59:58Speaker 27: from Kentucky, but I know everybody up there is sick
- 2:00:00Speaker 27: of it. I mean, it's just been hard to watch.
- 2:00:03Speaker 27: And you know, I care a lot about this football team,
- 2:00:05Speaker 27: and I care a lot about football. I coach football,
- 2:00:07Speaker 27: and I haven't missed the game, and you know, so
- 2:00:10Speaker 27: many years and it's just so frustrating. And I try
- 2:00:13Speaker 27: to be reasonable and try to be rational, and you know,
- 2:00:15Speaker 27: firing a coach up to year one is you know,
- 2:00:18Speaker 27: not necessarily reasonable in my opinion, but it's just got
- 2:00:20Speaker 27: to happen. Guys, We're not closed. He hasn't showed a flash.
- 2:00:23Speaker 27: When Dan Campbell was three and fourteen with Detroit, there
- 2:00:27Speaker 27: was a flash. Those guys are playing hard.
- 2:00:28Speaker 11: He had Detroit.
- 2:00:29Speaker 27: Body in and around and the players were body in
- 2:00:32Speaker 27: and we're not. We're just so far from anything competent.
- 2:00:35Speaker 27: We're a college football team and it's just getting I
- 2:00:39Speaker 27: don't know, star just frustrated. But hey, I appreciate you, guys.
- 2:00:42Speaker 27: I listen every day.
- 2:00:44Speaker 4: That's a great call, Ethan, Thank you. That's a great call,
- 2:00:46Speaker 4: well thought out. Is the point that Ethan's making. Our
- 2:00:53Speaker 4: head coach didn't have an identity coming in. You couldn't
- 2:00:57Speaker 4: even say this is the type of defense that he
- 2:00:59Speaker 4: coordinated because he never coordinated a defense, let alone an offense.
- 2:01:03Speaker 4: So he had no identity. And I think all season
- 2:01:08Speaker 4: he's been searching for his own identity. That's hard to do.
- 2:01:11Speaker 4: When you're losing games. That becomes your identity now, So
- 2:01:15Speaker 4: it's you know, but Ethan made the point better than
- 2:01:18Speaker 4: I just did, and uh, that's it. Yeah.
- 2:01:21Speaker 5: I don't have a problem with the power running aspect
- 2:01:24Speaker 5: of the you.
- 2:01:25Speaker 4: Get excited when he said the vertical power right.
- 2:01:27Speaker 5: Hey, look it was a good call. I don't have
- 2:01:29Speaker 5: a problem with that necessarily, but I if Van Pelt's staying,
- 2:01:34Speaker 5: he's got to make a really good presentation of what
- 2:01:37Speaker 5: is Drake May two point zero look like, you know,
- 2:01:40Speaker 5: in terms of adding some of the quarterback round elements.
- 2:01:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't care what you used to do in Cleveland.
- 2:01:46Speaker 4: Yeah you didn't have Drake May.
- 2:01:47Speaker 5: Right, Like you know, I don't care if it's zone
- 2:01:49Speaker 5: or if it's you know, gap or whatever. But they
- 2:01:53Speaker 5: have to add a quarterback round element to this office.
- 2:01:56Speaker 6: And they have to have now. I mean, we can
- 2:01:57Speaker 6: talk about all the schemes all we want. I'm not
- 2:01:59Speaker 6: going to work with this with this group.
- 2:02:01Speaker 4: All right. That's it for this edition. We're not going
- 2:02:03Speaker 4: to be on tomorrow, New Year's Day, but we'll be
