- 0:05Speaker 1: Well, our unexpected three week break is finally over and
- 0:09Speaker 1: the official headlines may have been quiet, but the Paddock
- 0:12Speaker 1: is anything but because HaRav is roaring back to life
- 0:15Speaker 1: as the European League of the Season gets underway. So
- 0:18Speaker 1: let's break down everything that you need to know ahead
- 0:21Speaker 1: of the Spanish Grand Prix. This episode of pitt Talk
- 0:24Speaker 1: is brought to you by Shannon's Insurance. I'm your host,
- 0:26Speaker 1: Ridit Vmuelen, and joining me is the man who needs
- 0:29Speaker 1: no introduction, mister Matt Clayton. Matt, I mentioned their official
- 0:34Speaker 1: headlines have been quiet, but there's been some big rumors
- 0:38Speaker 1: come out in these last three weeks.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Yeah, there's been a lot that's going on. This is
- 0:42Speaker 2: what happens when you don't have motorcycles racing around tracks.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Everyone has nothing to talk about racing, so we talk
- 0:47Speaker 2: about everything other than the racing. So I, for one,
- 0:50Speaker 2: I'm very much looking forward to getting this season back underweight.
- 0:52Speaker 2: It almost feels like the first three races were part
- 0:55Speaker 2: of last season or some random preseason or something. I'm
- 0:58Speaker 2: very much looking forward to that. But I think having
- 1:01Speaker 2: the paddock back in the one place it might put
- 1:04Speaker 2: to better few of the rumors that we've had over
- 1:06Speaker 2: the past two or three weeks, but it might actually,
- 1:08Speaker 2: you know, accentuate a few more so. I mean, you'll
- 1:10Speaker 2: need to be telling us next week about what the
- 1:11Speaker 2: paddock is actually like. But yeah, there's been a bit
- 1:14Speaker 2: going on behind the scenes and not so maybe some
- 1:17Speaker 2: stories that we didn't quite expect, I'd say, because.
- 1:20Speaker 1: The last episode we did, we chatted what we thought
- 1:23Speaker 1: was going to happen with the rider market for twenty
- 1:25Speaker 1: seven in the movie, Yes, well who was going where?
- 1:28Speaker 1: Then literally we publish it two days later, Thank you
- 1:31Speaker 1: so much, i Agua, because then we get this announcement
- 1:34Speaker 1: of Iagua going to factory Yamaha, and we're like, we
- 1:38Speaker 1: didn't have this on our Bingo card for twenty seven.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I don't think many people had this one on their
- 1:43Speaker 2: Bingo card. To be fair to us, we'll give ourselves
- 1:45Speaker 2: a bit of a pass here, because this one does
- 1:47Speaker 2: feel like it's well, it's come from left field, and
- 1:49Speaker 2: it hasn't. At the same time, in that I'm not
- 1:52Speaker 2: sure it was something many of us saw coming. But
- 1:54Speaker 2: by the same token, his career has been a bit
- 1:56Speaker 2: left field when you think about it, because he was
- 1:59Speaker 2: this Honda protege coming all the way through, and he
- 2:01Speaker 2: had a chance to step up to Motor GP and didn't.
- 2:04Speaker 2: And then when he eventually came to Motor GP, he
- 2:07Speaker 2: he probably felt quite rightly that Honda wasn't on his
- 2:09Speaker 2: timetable right, so he went to a Prillier which he
- 2:12Speaker 2: had absolutely no ties with previously. So we thought that
- 2:16Speaker 2: was a little bit on the odd side. And he's
- 2:18Speaker 2: done pretty well there, you'd have to say. And he
- 2:20Speaker 2: struck me as being a good guy to have there
- 2:23Speaker 2: at a Prillia with some of the other heavier hitters
- 2:25Speaker 2: you've got there, he's inexperienced in Motor GP. He's a
- 2:28Speaker 2: little bit older than some of these guys, so he's
- 2:30Speaker 2: like mid twenty, so he's not quite your sort of
- 2:32Speaker 2: twenty year old, you know, keep with the training wheels
- 2:34Speaker 2: on still And now, you know, having been a Honda
- 2:37Speaker 2: protege his entire junior career to go and sign with
- 2:42Speaker 2: Yamaha is really interesting. I think it's a great get
- 2:45Speaker 2: for Yamaha. I think it's exactly the sort of writer
- 2:48Speaker 2: they need. I'm trying to imagine a partnership with him
- 2:51Speaker 2: and Jorge Martin together, and it's kind of this complete
- 2:55Speaker 2: contrast of personalities, isn't It's like this sort of fire
- 2:57Speaker 2: and ice think going on in that Martin team will
- 3:00Speaker 2: monopolize ninety percent of the oxygen and the conversation and
- 3:03Speaker 2: a Gura will just quietly go about getting results. But
- 3:06Speaker 2: I quite like the idea of Yamaha having their sort
- 3:10Speaker 2: of young guy to build with through this next rule set.
- 3:13Speaker 2: But then you'd also have to think, like, you know,
- 3:15Speaker 2: you know how the Japanese manufacturers, it's such a rivalry
- 3:19Speaker 2: between them all. They must be looking at it going
- 3:21Speaker 2: how is this guy that we spent all this money
- 3:23Speaker 2: on in the junior categories, how is he writing for them?
- 3:25Speaker 2: Because it's a really strange one. It's not something we
- 3:28Speaker 2: saw coming. But look, it does have ripple effects and
- 3:31Speaker 2: we'll have to talk about that. But as far as
- 3:33Speaker 2: the factory Yamaha team goes, you've got a very fast
- 3:37Speaker 2: guy for now and a promising guy with upside who's
- 3:40Speaker 2: clearly quick for the future. Martine is a race by race,
- 3:44Speaker 2: weekend by weekend, what side of the betty gets out proposition?
- 3:47Speaker 2: Because we know that after the last two years with him,
- 3:49Speaker 2: it's been so feast or famine with him. I like
- 3:52Speaker 2: a Gura as a bit of stability in that team.
- 3:54Speaker 2: So it's a really interesting combination.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I reckon the thing that I when I heard the news,
- 4:00Speaker 1: I immediately thought, Okay, Yamaha Japanese manufacturer, our only Japanese
- 4:06Speaker 1: writer in the premiere class. As well, I said, why
- 4:09Speaker 1: having that connection there makes sense. I think I Grew
- 4:12Speaker 1: is on for a podium, if not a win this year.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Like clearly we can see that we knew last year.
- 4:18Speaker 1: It was a case of him just getting to know
- 4:20Speaker 1: the tracks on a motor GP bike and understanding how
- 4:23Speaker 1: that works because he's like Peco Banyaya reminds me, he's
- 4:28Speaker 1: like the professor, like the slow burn, like the desl contract,
- 4:32Speaker 1: like like you know, needs that momentum. So I think
- 4:34Speaker 1: this year we'll get to see that momentum for him.
- 4:37Speaker 1: It's such a shame what happened in CODA, but I
- 4:40Speaker 1: don't know if that had anything to do with the
- 4:42Speaker 1: decision as well. But I think overall Yamaha are on
- 4:47Speaker 1: the up rise, Like we know that. Look at what
- 4:49Speaker 1: they're doing they're putting into their bikes at the moment
- 4:52Speaker 1: to bring Juey Martin in, which we know what he's
- 4:55Speaker 1: achieved and what he's capable of, and then what we
- 4:58Speaker 1: think we know about and what we think he can
- 5:01Speaker 1: achieve and what he can do, and having that Japanese
- 5:03Speaker 1: flag with a Japanese manufacturer should bring them back to
- 5:06Speaker 1: the top. I see it as a complete package now.
- 5:09Speaker 1: When it first came out, I did not see it
- 5:11Speaker 1: at all. I was just as confused as everybody else.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, this is not a decision on its
- 5:18Speaker 2: face for now. Is it like you're talking about the
- 5:20Speaker 2: slow burns? A perfect description of him, But this is
- 5:22Speaker 2: kind of what Yamaha is now. I think the fact
- 5:25Speaker 2: that Yamaha has gone all in with this four this year,
- 5:28Speaker 2: and obviously they're developing the eight fifty for next year,
- 5:31Speaker 2: I am fairly confident in saying that Yamaha will get
- 5:34Speaker 2: back to where we've been accustomed to seeing them in
- 5:36Speaker 2: Motor GP. What we don't know is what the timetable is.
- 5:38Speaker 2: But that's not really I agree as concern right now,
- 5:41Speaker 2: because by the time Yamaha starts to come good again,
- 5:43Speaker 2: it might be two, three, four seasons down the track.
- 5:46Speaker 2: That aligns almost perfectly with his career arc. At the
- 5:49Speaker 2: same time, and you know, you mentioned the fact that
- 5:51Speaker 2: he's more more a Diesel trained Banyai style of a writer.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I mean his junior career has been like that too,
- 5:57Speaker 2: in that he's spent a long time in Motor two
- 6:00Speaker 2: and he was quick, but he wasn't quite ready, and
- 6:02Speaker 2: he built methodically and ended up winning that championship. I
- 6:05Speaker 2: think it's a really inspired signing for Yamaharam and you
- 6:07Speaker 2: can imagine how well that will go down in that
- 6:10Speaker 2: particular market as well. If that bike comes good with
- 6:13Speaker 2: a Japanese writer on it, that would be the absolute
- 6:16Speaker 2: dream scenario for them. And in the short term you've
- 6:18Speaker 2: got someone like Martin who I mean, I wouldn't want
- 6:22Speaker 2: to say someone like Martin, Like every rider still evolves
- 6:24Speaker 2: to a degree, right, but Martin kind of is what
- 6:27Speaker 2: he says on the tin at this point, like you
- 6:29Speaker 2: know exactly what you're going to get with him. He
- 6:31Speaker 2: will be emotional, he'll ride the bike very, very hard.
- 6:34Speaker 2: He's incredibly good over one lap when he's got a
- 6:36Speaker 2: bike to fight with. We could already see that this
- 6:39Speaker 2: year with the Aprilia, which I still don't think he
- 6:40Speaker 2: one hundred percent has got his head around yet. He's
- 6:43Speaker 2: second of the World Championship it's no denying the guy's talent.
- 6:45Speaker 2: So it's a big statement by Yamaha. I sort of
- 6:48Speaker 2: feel that they've been, you know, since Quasurero won that
- 6:52Speaker 2: title for them in twenty twenty one, there's been it's
- 6:56Speaker 2: been difficult to keep the morale up simply because they
- 6:58Speaker 2: know that Kasaurero's good enough, but he's also very impatient.
- 7:01Speaker 2: We've had the Alex res discussion a few times on
- 7:03Speaker 2: this pod, where he's the same name as the rider
- 7:05Speaker 2: that we saw before Michello twenty twenty three, but he's
- 7:08Speaker 2: not the same rider anymore. Kind of feels like Yamaha
- 7:10Speaker 2: has been in this holding pattern for a couple of
- 7:12Speaker 2: years now. This is like the jolt of electricity that
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yavaha needs. I'm really interested to see where it ends up.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I think twenty twenty seven overall is just the jolt
- 7:22Speaker 1: of electricity that GP needs because there's the changes coming
- 7:26Speaker 1: in the right and center, so I greup moving from
- 7:29Speaker 1: trackhouse to factory Yamaha. Then there's the rumors and the
- 7:35Speaker 1: knock on effect of Okay, well, who's going to replace
- 7:38Speaker 1: him at trackhouse? Is it going to be a rookie
- 7:40Speaker 1: stepping up or do we think we're going to have
- 7:42Speaker 1: that connection of maybe like a Mia through Brivio over
- 7:48Speaker 1: with Fernandez at Trackhouse.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah. I think the biggest beneficiary you could almost say
- 7:54Speaker 2: of the Agura news is not necessarily Juamer. I actually
- 7:56Speaker 2: think it's Ralph Fernandez, because if Agura had stayed at
- 7:59Speaker 2: t track House, I think he would be the one
- 8:01Speaker 2: they prefer to hang on too, because he's younger and
- 8:03Speaker 2: he's probably got more upside. I think Myra ends up
- 8:06Speaker 2: there regardless, and maybe it was going to end he
- 8:09Speaker 2: was going to end up there at the expense of Fernandez.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I think now track House aren't going to want to
- 8:13Speaker 2: go into a brand new rule set for next year
- 8:15Speaker 2: with a completely new rider lineup that probably gives Fernandez
- 8:18Speaker 2: maybe a stay of execution. I still see a world
- 8:21Speaker 2: in which Joanmir ends up there, And ever since we
- 8:24Speaker 2: did that Podlo, the more I think about it is
- 8:26Speaker 2: that you know, you look at the standings this year
- 8:29Speaker 2: and you have to go a long way down the
- 8:31Speaker 2: standings until you find Choirmir with three points. He's crashed
- 8:34Speaker 2: boar than he's had points at the Jeanmir story. The
- 8:38Speaker 2: one thing with him is he is not slow, and
- 8:40Speaker 2: he's had that Honda in really really good positions, better
- 8:43Speaker 2: than any other Honda rider this year when he has
- 8:45Speaker 2: chucked it. And so the thing with him is can
- 8:49Speaker 2: he finish the race? The answer this year so far
- 8:51Speaker 2: is no. But he's also the sort of guy you
- 8:53Speaker 2: remember this last year with the Honda, like he was
- 8:55Speaker 2: on a couple of podiums last year with all the
- 8:58Speaker 2: crashes and all the DNFs and everything else on his
- 9:01Speaker 2: day and when he can actually see the check and flag,
- 9:03Speaker 2: big asterisk, I know, but there is no shortage of
- 9:06Speaker 2: speed with him still, and so for a team like
- 9:10Speaker 2: Aprilliant you mentioned the Davide Brivio league, I think he's
- 9:13Speaker 2: a guy who probably needs some guys need to be prodded,
- 9:16Speaker 2: like as the chart and the stick approach, right, I
- 9:17Speaker 2: think mes a guy who needs an arm Randy shoulder
- 9:19Speaker 2: sometimes to sort of comfort him and say come on, man,
- 9:21Speaker 2: everything's all right. But he is not slow, and I
- 9:24Speaker 2: think he'd be a great guy to push that project.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I still think he ends up there, But to my mind,
- 9:29Speaker 2: there's two ripple effects with a Gura. For me, I
- 9:31Speaker 2: think it keeps ral Fernandez a track house. And then
- 9:34Speaker 2: what happens at Prama Kamaha now, because we were all
- 9:38Speaker 2: looking at the assumption that the top rack was probably
- 9:40Speaker 2: going to be going up into the main factory team.
- 9:42Speaker 2: He may end up there at some point, but it's
- 9:44Speaker 2: not going to be for twenty twenty seven, and so
- 9:47Speaker 2: right now he's probably staying where he is. And then,
- 9:51Speaker 2: of course the uncomfortable subject we have to discuss now
- 9:54Speaker 2: as Australians, of course, is what does this mean for
- 9:56Speaker 2: Jack Miller? Because I'm still confident ish that he stays
- 10:03Speaker 2: on the grid next year, but maybe not as confident
- 10:04Speaker 2: as I once was, because I thought there might be
- 10:07Speaker 2: two seats for him to fall into as one rider.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Now there might only be one seat there, so it's
- 10:12Speaker 2: more tenuous than perhaps it looked a few weeks ago.
- 10:15Speaker 1: That makes me think, then Yamaha, because we know Pramaha
- 10:19Speaker 1: and Yamaha tend to work really closely together, are they
- 10:23Speaker 1: going to want to bring up a rookie in this
- 10:26Speaker 1: new rule set while they're developing this new bike, or
- 10:29Speaker 1: are they They're more likely to keep Jack there and
- 10:33Speaker 1: top rack we know that stability, especially while its top
- 10:35Speaker 1: racks still learning. Because he is the rookie this year,
- 10:38Speaker 1: you then have Aagura on the new manufacturer, Jue Martin
- 10:41Speaker 1: on the new manufacturer. Automatically there's three changes, and then
- 10:45Speaker 1: having Jack is like that anchor that can kind of
- 10:47Speaker 1: hold them together. It would be my selling point for
- 10:50Speaker 1: to keep you.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I think, yeah, I think there's Pramaha. By the way,
- 10:54Speaker 2: everyone needs to have a shot at this point. You
- 10:56Speaker 2: know the rules on this podcast by now, I don't
- 10:59Speaker 2: gear if it's the boarding peop listened, just have one anyway,
- 11:01Speaker 2: But yeah, it's a sort of answer your question. I
- 11:04Speaker 2: keep thinking. So let's say you don't keep Miller for
- 11:08Speaker 2: next year and you bring in Easan Kuavara or somebody else.
- 11:10Speaker 2: You bring in another rookie in that seat with a
- 11:13Speaker 2: brand new rule set, with an eight to fifty cc
- 11:15Speaker 2: bike that no one's yet tried, and with Yamaha and
- 11:17Speaker 2: all of this sort of flux between in line four
- 11:20Speaker 2: and V four and new thousand cc bike and eight
- 11:22Speaker 2: fifty and everything else. If the only rider you were
- 11:25Speaker 2: retaining year or year out of your four riders was
- 11:29Speaker 2: top Rack, who as good as he is, he's still
- 11:31Speaker 2: a twenty nine year old rookie, I think that there
- 11:35Speaker 2: is a need for some stability there and familiarity there
- 11:38Speaker 2: the other thing that we have to really consider here,
- 11:40Speaker 2: and this is something that a journalist colleague in my
- 11:43Speaker 2: mentioned was the most obvious thing in the world. And
- 11:45Speaker 2: of course later in this year, when there's eight fifty
- 11:49Speaker 2: tests going on with bikes that'll be close to what's
- 11:52Speaker 2: coming out on the grid next year, you look at
- 11:53Speaker 2: Yamaha's lineup. Jorge Martin can't test for Yamaha until the
- 11:57Speaker 2: Valencia postseason test. I Agoura can't test for Yamaha until
- 12:00Speaker 2: the postseason Valencia test. And top rac has what three
- 12:04Speaker 2: Grand Prix worth of experience. As good as Toprak is
- 12:07Speaker 2: and as accomplished as he is, he is a rookie
- 12:09Speaker 2: motor GP rider. And so if you're going into the
- 12:12Speaker 2: first year of a brand new rule set and you've
- 12:14Speaker 2: got this guy who's hugely experienced, you know, Jack is
- 12:18Speaker 2: employed these days as as much for if not more,
- 12:22Speaker 2: for what he does behind the seas and what he
- 12:23Speaker 2: does on the track. You've had all this input from
- 12:26Speaker 2: him through this V four project, and then going into
- 12:28Speaker 2: this new rule set, there's a lot of reasons to
- 12:30Speaker 2: keep him. Maybe not for a long time, you know,
- 12:33Speaker 2: maybe we're having this conversation again in twelve months and
- 12:35Speaker 2: it's not looking very likely that he's going to stay
- 12:38Speaker 2: on the grid. But the very fact that he's the
- 12:40Speaker 2: only one of their riders that has any experience that
- 12:43Speaker 2: can actually test the eight fifty this year. You add
- 12:45Speaker 2: those two things together. Every other manufacturer's got someone who's
- 12:49Speaker 2: hugely experienced and will be on board for next year,
- 12:51Speaker 2: so you can actually use them to test. It's kind
- 12:54Speaker 2: of the reason why I think Marini stays at Honda
- 12:56Speaker 2: as a side to this, because similar sort of reasons
- 12:59Speaker 2: to Jack. I still think Jackie is more likely to
- 13:04Speaker 2: stay than not. I just think maybe it's not quite
- 13:06Speaker 2: as sort of set in stone as it might have
- 13:08Speaker 2: been before the agur remove.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I'm glad you mentioned Marini there because you wrote an
- 13:13Speaker 1: article on Fox sports dot com to au Ford slash
- 13:16Speaker 1: Motorsport about the seven writers who need a lifeline, one
- 13:19Speaker 1: of those being Jack Miller, and then you mentioned Marini,
- 13:23Speaker 1: Like we can go through the I'll list them more.
- 13:26Speaker 1: So you put Marini, Basherini, Binda, Morbidelli, Rins, Mir and Miller. Okay,
- 13:32Speaker 1: if everything with the latest rumors comes to fruition, then
- 13:36Speaker 1: Meer's got his lifeline. He's going to track house Miller.
- 13:40Speaker 1: We hope stays a Pramaha and Marini will then stay
- 13:43Speaker 1: at factory Ponder for the reasons that you just said.
- 13:47Speaker 1: But that still leaves a name of Bashanini, proven race
- 13:50Speaker 1: winner and king of time management. Brad Finder Katm's you know,
- 13:56Speaker 1: like the puppy, he'll never leave their side. Frankie Morberdelli
- 13:59Speaker 1: who got the vfix backing. It feels I'm so mad
- 14:03Speaker 1: this is to everyone today. I'm like, you know Alex Frenz,
- 14:06Speaker 1: but you mentioned Alex saying the same thing, like he
- 14:09Speaker 1: hasn't had like he hasn't been the same person since
- 14:12Speaker 1: he's had that crash. No, how do you go? How
- 14:15Speaker 1: do you This is the part where it's like now
- 14:17Speaker 1: it starts to get tricky because Okay, where do they go?
- 14:20Speaker 1: What do they do? Is this their retirement? Are they
- 14:22Speaker 1: going to wad to like who's stepping up? Who's replacing them?
- 14:25Speaker 1: This is all the question marks and all the answers
- 14:28Speaker 1: that we need answered. Please m SEG.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I know we need this contract announcement, can't we?
- 14:34Speaker 2: But this is the issue with There's two things here
- 14:36Speaker 2: that's interesting to me. You've got this persistent story that
- 14:40Speaker 2: Tech three could be dumping KATM for Honda, so we
- 14:43Speaker 2: could have six Honders on the grid next year at
- 14:44Speaker 2: two ktms, which is interesting. I think that is if
- 14:48Speaker 2: that comes to pass, I think that's good news for
- 14:50Speaker 2: Luca Marini and it's probably bad news for Brad Bnder.
- 14:54Speaker 2: We know that well, we suspect it's going to be
- 14:56Speaker 2: announce as soon as we get this contract deal that
- 14:58Speaker 2: Alex Marquez will be at KATM as their lead writer
- 15:01Speaker 2: in the factory, and Honda with six bikes, you'd be
- 15:05Speaker 2: mad not to give one to Marini simply for all
- 15:08Speaker 2: the reasons that we were talking about Jack Miller just before.
- 15:10Speaker 2: So then so you think, all right, who else is
- 15:13Speaker 2: out there? We know that fermin Aldeger will be at
- 15:15Speaker 2: VR forty six next year, so that leaves one of
- 15:19Speaker 2: Franco Morbidelli and Fabio di jan Antonio to make way.
- 15:22Speaker 2: That's not even a conversation we need to have. Quite frankly,
- 15:26Speaker 2: I'm one of Digia's biggest fans in terms of the
- 15:29Speaker 2: way he goes about his work, and this year he
- 15:30Speaker 2: is absolutely delivering as the best to catty writer after
- 15:33Speaker 2: three rounds, which is a crazy thing to say, and
- 15:36Speaker 2: it feels like it could be maybe close to the end,
- 15:40Speaker 2: if not the end. For Rin's almost certainly Binder, robbably
- 15:45Speaker 2: and more Bidelli almost certainly. I would say I'd be
- 15:48Speaker 2: confident that Bastinini stays in simply because Chrassini's going to
- 15:53Speaker 2: need two new riders next year, right, Alex Barkes, we
- 15:56Speaker 2: off to KTM, and we know that Aldegerre is going
- 15:59Speaker 2: to V forty six, So Grassini's going to need two
- 16:01Speaker 2: new writers. They've just recently signed on with Ducati. It
- 16:04Speaker 2: sounds very much like Danny Holgardo from Moto two ends
- 16:07Speaker 2: up there, which I think is a great signing for Ducati.
- 16:09Speaker 2: He's been it's funny with Holgado, like his teammates with
- 16:12Speaker 2: David Alonzo and Alonso Baby Goat, et cetera. You can
- 16:15Speaker 2: have all these conversations. Holgado does not suffer much in
- 16:19Speaker 2: terms of comparison to a Lonso, far lower profile, but
- 16:22Speaker 2: his results, considering he's inexperienced in Moto twos a Lonso is,
- 16:25Speaker 2: his results have been genuinely excellent. He's a better Moto
- 16:29Speaker 2: two rider than perhaps we're all expecting. That's good for
- 16:32Speaker 2: Ducati to have the young guy coming in Bastinini and Grassini.
- 16:36Speaker 2: We've seen it before, obviously because I've been together before.
- 16:38Speaker 2: They kind of feel like a perfect Moto GP marriage
- 16:41Speaker 2: in a way in that they're the classic sort of underdog, underfunded, underresourced,
- 16:47Speaker 2: you know, small team makes good type story. And you
- 16:50Speaker 2: remember a few years ago Bastianini was just this giant
- 16:53Speaker 2: killer for them, and that he qualified nowhere like he
- 16:55Speaker 2: always does, and then you look at the end of
- 16:57Speaker 2: the race and go her. He's on the podium. He's one.
- 16:59Speaker 2: How is he done this? He's won the EQUE four
- 17:01Speaker 2: Grand Prix that year, and he strikes me as a
- 17:04Speaker 2: guy who, as talented as he is, he clearly has
- 17:09Speaker 2: one pretty obvious floor that he can't call by the bike,
- 17:12Speaker 2: brilliant with time management as you said, in races, but
- 17:16Speaker 2: he's almost like the right rider for that team. He's
- 17:18Speaker 2: like the underdog you didn't see coming. And if you
- 17:21Speaker 2: want like a consistent rider who's going to do the
- 17:23Speaker 2: very Luca Marony thing, have just scored decent points every
- 17:25Speaker 2: single weekend, then you'll be disappointed because that's not who
- 17:28Speaker 2: an Aa Bastiaden he is. He's also the guy that
- 17:31Speaker 2: he's also the guy. At the end of the season,
- 17:32Speaker 2: you'll go, what the hell is he finished on the
- 17:34Speaker 2: podium three times. He might be nowhere for the other
- 17:36Speaker 2: nineteen weekends, but he's very, very capable of spring a
- 17:39Speaker 2: podium here and there. That feels like a perfect marriage
- 17:43Speaker 2: of we have a seat, we've had you here before,
- 17:46Speaker 2: you did really well here. There's no one else that
- 17:48Speaker 2: probably wants you. And if you could give us two
- 17:50Speaker 2: or three podiums a year, please, that would be really nice.
- 17:52Speaker 2: It seems like a really nice marriage to me. And
- 17:56Speaker 2: see old saying that you should never go back to
- 17:57Speaker 2: someone you've already left. But in that situation, I think
- 18:00Speaker 2: he might be. He might he might be going back.
- 18:04Speaker 1: He might be or just choke said, it might be
- 18:06Speaker 1: a marriage made in heaven. Once again, post of.
- 18:08Speaker 2: What I'm offering. I'm offering life advice here as well
- 18:12Speaker 2: as murder GP not here. I'm here for everyone.
- 18:15Speaker 1: We love that complete package, ma'am, we love it.
- 18:18Speaker 2: That's fine. I'm becoming more versatile in by old age.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Before we move on to our Hareth preview, you wrote
- 18:26Speaker 1: an article about Marco Betzeki which is really fascinating about
- 18:30Speaker 1: the fact that he's just had like the worst sprint
- 18:34Speaker 1: record in Moto GP, considering he's leading the championship, considering
- 18:39Speaker 1: he's won, you know, five races and breaking all these
- 18:41Speaker 1: records for a prillier, tell us a bit more about this,
- 18:44Speaker 1: because it's phenomenal. When you look at the stats.
- 18:47Speaker 2: It is crazy when you think that he hasn't been
- 18:51Speaker 2: behind anyone in a Grand Prix since the first week
- 18:54Speaker 2: of November last year. That's how nuts this streak is.
- 18:56Speaker 2: At this point, it's one hundred and twenty one straight laps.
- 18:58Speaker 2: He's won the last five Grand Prixe leadysingle aapp so
- 19:01Speaker 2: he's got all of these crazy records. And you know
- 19:04Speaker 2: the fact that it's only Bazeki Rossi and Mark Marquez
- 19:08Speaker 2: who have won five or more Grand Prix in a
- 19:09Speaker 2: row since two thousand and two. That's a wild stat
- 19:12Speaker 2: When you think of some of the people that have
- 19:14Speaker 2: been through Motor GP in that time case he Stota
- 19:16Speaker 2: never did it, or Hei Lorenzo never did it. There's
- 19:18Speaker 2: plenty of good guys that never did it. And then
- 19:20Speaker 2: you look at the point standing and you're like, how
- 19:23Speaker 2: is a guy that he's just absolutely destroying everyone right
- 19:26Speaker 2: now on Sundays? How is he only leading this championship
- 19:28Speaker 2: by six points, sorry, by four points. Can't of the
- 19:31Speaker 2: count by four points. The reason being is that his
- 19:34Speaker 2: sprint record, and it's been an ongoing issue since sprints
- 19:37Speaker 2: came in twenty twenty three, but it is genuinely atrocious
- 19:40Speaker 2: at the moment. And as part of the story, I
- 19:43Speaker 2: went through and just counted the points. If we were
- 19:45Speaker 2: doing a sprints only championship, he barely scrapes into the
- 19:49Speaker 2: top ten. He has got the tenth most points in
- 19:52Speaker 2: sprints this year, which makes absolutely no sense when you
- 19:55Speaker 2: see what he does on Sundays. But this run of
- 19:58Speaker 2: five straight Grand Prix that he's had, where is one
- 20:00Speaker 2: all of them in those same five weekends. There's one
- 20:03Speaker 2: sprint podium in there, and there's bits of DNFs and
- 20:06Speaker 2: some crashes. He just throws points away on Saturday and
- 20:09Speaker 2: then gets them all back on Sunday. So what's really
- 20:12Speaker 2: interesting is there's kind of this inflection with two inflection
- 20:15Speaker 2: points in this piece. Since motor GP went to sprint
- 20:18Speaker 2: races in twenty twenty three, the riders that have been
- 20:21Speaker 2: world champions in the season since. So it's Vanayra in
- 20:23Speaker 2: twenty three, Martine twenty four, Marquez twenty five. They've all
- 20:27Speaker 2: scored somewhere between thirty to thirty five percent of their
- 20:31Speaker 2: total number of points in sprints, and right now Buzeki
- 20:34Speaker 2: single figure percentage. I think it's six percent or something.
- 20:36Speaker 2: There's absolutely no contribution from sprints to whatsoever. So there's
- 20:40Speaker 2: a roadmap to winning a Motor GP title in the
- 20:42Speaker 2: spring era and right now he's not following that roadmap.
- 20:45Speaker 2: And as awesome as he's been on Sundays, you don't
- 20:50Speaker 2: know how sustainable that is. Right, You've got a Mark
- 20:52Speaker 2: Marquess who's getting fitter by the week. There's going to
- 20:55Speaker 2: be tracks that I mean, Herath is a classic Decadi track,
- 20:58Speaker 2: There's going to be tracks that don't necessarily suit the apprilia.
- 21:01Speaker 2: He has been flawless on Sundays for four months and
- 21:05Speaker 2: yet he only just leads the championship. So something's got
- 21:08Speaker 2: to give here. But the absolutely staggering stat that came
- 21:12Speaker 2: out of that last round at Austin, there's seven riders
- 21:15Speaker 2: in the history of Motor GP since nineteen forty nine,
- 21:19Speaker 2: since the World Championship began, that have won that many
- 21:21Speaker 2: Grand Prix in a row as Bezeki has, and each
- 21:24Speaker 2: one of those riders is a multiple time Premier Class champion.
- 21:28Speaker 2: You're talking Augustini and Mike Hale, Wood and obviously Marquez,
- 21:32Speaker 2: Rossi and mcdowan. And he's in the conversation now with
- 21:35Speaker 2: all these names that have done this amazing thing over
- 21:38Speaker 2: a long period of time. If he's going to join
- 21:41Speaker 2: them as being a Premier Class champion, which his form
- 21:44Speaker 2: suggests that he has the ability to do, he has
- 21:47Speaker 2: to get these sprints right because if he doesn't, they're
- 21:50Speaker 2: just throwing points away at the moment. And Masimo Rivella
- 21:53Speaker 2: put it best in that he Reveler is great at
- 21:56Speaker 2: seeing the bigger picture with this, and he's like, look,
- 21:57Speaker 2: we should have twenty more points already, just sprints. And
- 22:01Speaker 2: when the opponent is Mark Marquez and are recovering Mark
- 22:04Speaker 2: Marquez and a Mark Marquess who's never going to be
- 22:06Speaker 2: as vulnerable this year as he was in the first
- 22:08Speaker 2: two or three rounds of the season, he should actually
- 22:11Speaker 2: be a lot further ahead. And you do wonder whether
- 22:14Speaker 2: that's going to come back to buy Aprillia and Bozeki
- 22:17Speaker 2: later on in this season. It's not something we're thinking
- 22:19Speaker 2: about now because we're three rounds in but we might
- 22:21Speaker 2: look back when we get to, like, you know, later
- 22:23Speaker 2: in the season, Philip Ireland. You know, we're three or
- 22:25Speaker 2: four rounds from the end of the season, and I'd
- 22:27Speaker 2: be like, oh, man, do you remember all those points
- 22:28Speaker 2: that Berzeki threw away and now he's in a massive
- 22:31Speaker 2: fight for the world championship or he's actually behind where
- 22:35Speaker 2: his pace suggests that he should be a lot further
- 22:37Speaker 2: ahead than he is.
- 22:40Speaker 1: You mentioned Mark there as the other title fight, but
- 22:43Speaker 1: I automatically thought Johe Martin. Look at what he's done
- 22:46Speaker 1: this year, and we know he was the sprint king,
- 22:50Speaker 1: how he won that championship against Pecobrognaya. So there's also
- 22:53Speaker 1: that threat from the same carriage just on the other
- 22:56Speaker 1: side that could possibly, you know, come in. So you're right,
- 22:59Speaker 1: if Marco doesn't figure out what is going on, I
- 23:02Speaker 1: don't know if it's a pressure thing. I don't know
- 23:04Speaker 1: if it's just because it's the sprints and it's a
- 23:06Speaker 1: different tactic, a different strategy, a different way from the
- 23:08Speaker 1: get go. I don't know. We'll try and find out,
- 23:12Speaker 1: but I think he does need to really get this sorted,
- 23:14Speaker 1: because yeah, it's going to be tricky for him to
- 23:17Speaker 1: win this championship on Grand PRIs alone. The sprints come
- 23:20Speaker 1: into play so much and so effective here. But you
- 23:24Speaker 1: mentioned Hareth, you mentioned, you know, we know this as
- 23:26Speaker 1: a Jucutti track. Let's talk about who o. Let's preview
- 23:29Speaker 1: this because Alex Marquez won here for the first time
- 23:32Speaker 1: last year because Mark Marquez threw it away well, And what.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Was interesting about that was that, yeah, Mark did throw
- 23:39Speaker 2: it away that weekend. Alex was just faster than him anyway,
- 23:42Speaker 2: and he was ahead of him in the Grold Prix
- 23:44Speaker 2: where Mark chucked it down the road. This is a
- 23:46Speaker 2: really good Alex Marquez track, always has been. And then
- 23:49Speaker 2: when he had the start of the season that he
- 23:52Speaker 2: had last year where he's like, oh, he's just second
- 23:54Speaker 2: in every single race behind his brother, there were always
- 23:57Speaker 2: going to be probably three tracks. Like Alex is not
- 24:00Speaker 2: the most well rounded writer, he might say, but he's
- 24:02Speaker 2: got specialist tracks for him. He's always awesome at Sapang,
- 24:06Speaker 2: He's always good at Barcelona, where Mark isn't necessarily because
- 24:10Speaker 2: of all the right handers there, and the other track.
- 24:12Speaker 2: He's always been really strong at his harath right the
- 24:14Speaker 2: way through his career. He even when he was on
- 24:16Speaker 2: bikes that weren't particularly good, he would sort of outperform
- 24:19Speaker 2: the machinery at somewhere like harazz So it was one
- 24:23Speaker 2: of those things that you know, we thought, is this
- 24:25Speaker 2: guy ever going to win amurdor GP race? But if
- 24:27Speaker 2: he was ever going to win one, that was probably
- 24:29Speaker 2: one of the three tracks that he probably could do it.
- 24:31Speaker 2: So it's interesting that he got the monkey off his
- 24:33Speaker 2: back last year. He finally got that first win and
- 24:36Speaker 2: then went on one and another couple of races and
- 24:38Speaker 2: had a season that to finish runner up, a distant
- 24:41Speaker 2: runner up, but still to finish runner up in the
- 24:44Speaker 2: World Championship was not something that many of us thought.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Maybe even Alex deep down would have thought that was possible,
- 24:51Speaker 2: because there'd been nothing in his career before last year
- 24:54Speaker 2: that made you think he was like a regular race winner,
- 24:57Speaker 2: podium finisher, possible top three in the World championshi rider.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Now he's got off to a bit of a slow
- 25:03Speaker 2: start this year, but he's not alone there. Like all
- 25:05Speaker 2: the ducaddies are generally a little bit behind expectations. Probably
- 25:09Speaker 2: with the exception of De jan Antonio, you could probably
- 25:12Speaker 2: give fermin Aldagerre a bit of an asteris because he
- 25:14Speaker 2: missed that first race after he busted his league in
- 25:16Speaker 2: the preseason. But Jacati generally have been on their back
- 25:19Speaker 2: foot and Alex isn't immune to that, like they've all
- 25:22Speaker 2: been a little bit behind the eight ball. But yeah,
- 25:24Speaker 2: to go back to a circuit where I mean this
- 25:27Speaker 2: time last year, I mean he was leading the World Championship,
- 25:29Speaker 2: he won a Grand Prix, like it was just the
- 25:31Speaker 2: story that absolutely nobody saw coming. Now we also know
- 25:33Speaker 2: that he has an older brother that's quite good, and
- 25:36Speaker 2: we kind of knew how this story was going to
- 25:38Speaker 2: end for Alex. He was going to be the second marquees,
- 25:40Speaker 2: like he's always been the second marquees. But yeah, interesting
- 25:43Speaker 2: because this is a good Ducadi track and the fact
- 25:46Speaker 2: that we've had these few weeks off, everyone's got a
- 25:48Speaker 2: chance to reset a little bit. I don't think anyone
- 25:51Speaker 2: was particularly surprised with how good Aprilia was through the
- 25:53Speaker 2: first three rounds. But if Aprilia do at Hareth what
- 25:57Speaker 2: they've done in Thailand, in Brazil, Austin, then yeah, I
- 26:02Speaker 2: mean the conversation with what the best bike is on
- 26:04Speaker 2: the grid right now and how the picture of this
- 26:06Speaker 2: championship might change if Bizeki comes out and cleans up,
- 26:09Speaker 2: or even if foj Martine wins in Hereth for a
- 26:13Speaker 2: prillier in a decade stronghold, then yeah, we really do
- 26:16Speaker 2: have a championship on her hands, aren't we.
- 26:19Speaker 1: But let's look at it from another point of view
- 26:21Speaker 1: and the fact that we've had three weeks instead of
- 26:24Speaker 1: like we know that Kata got canceled. That's three extra
- 26:27Speaker 1: weeks for Mark Marquez to recover. Yeah, three extra weeks
- 26:30Speaker 1: for foeman Aldegaer to recover. Okay, how much of a
- 26:34Speaker 1: jump can Mark make in those three weeks? We know
- 26:37Speaker 1: Coder wasn't the weekend that he was hoping for, But
- 26:40Speaker 1: ken do you think this weekend coming back to Hereth
- 26:43Speaker 1: with three actual weeks recovery, is he really going to
- 26:46Speaker 1: be able to put up a fight here.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I think that the break benefits in more than any
- 26:51Speaker 2: other ride, quite frankly, because it's not even just the
- 26:53Speaker 2: fact that you're not racing. It's the travel and the
- 26:56Speaker 2: way you can, the way you have to train when
- 26:58Speaker 2: you're out on the road and with the flyaways and
- 27:00Speaker 2: what have you mean. Qatar is one of those halfway
- 27:02Speaker 2: back to Europe stops when they've done the three flyaways
- 27:04Speaker 2: at the beginning. To my mind, he's the biggest beneficiary
- 27:07Speaker 2: of all this because he can get home, and he
- 27:09Speaker 2: can train, and it's a short commute to her Wrath
- 27:11Speaker 2: and all of this. I think he is going to
- 27:14Speaker 2: be pretty close to being proper Mark this weekend, and
- 27:18Speaker 2: we haven't seen that completely yet this season. They've seen
- 27:21Speaker 2: flashes of it. Obviously, he's want to sprint and he's
- 27:23Speaker 2: not been slow, had that weird puncture in Thailand, There's
- 27:27Speaker 2: been extenuating circumstances. He made a mistake at Kosha when
- 27:30Speaker 2: he ran to Jane Antonio off the in the sprint
- 27:32Speaker 2: and then caught the long lap for the Grand Prix itself,
- 27:34Speaker 2: so there's been some sort of weirdness happening with Mark.
- 27:38Speaker 2: He even with one and three quarter working shoulders, he's
- 27:42Speaker 2: still been pretty decent. But I think this weekend Shapes
- 27:46Speaker 2: is the one where we'll find out two things. This weekend.
- 27:49Speaker 2: I think how close he is to one hundred percent
- 27:51Speaker 2: or not and how much ground he's still got to
- 27:54Speaker 2: make up there And is the bike the limiting factor
- 27:59Speaker 2: or is the limiting factor, Because if Mark's closer to
- 28:01Speaker 2: one hundred percent, he is the best rider of a
- 28:05Speaker 2: not great bike I've ever seen. If you give him
- 28:07Speaker 2: the sharpest tool, he'll cut everyone to ribbons with it,
- 28:09Speaker 2: which is what he did last year. But he's also
- 28:11Speaker 2: the guy that can take a bike that's nearly there
- 28:13Speaker 2: but not quite and that's where you might see the
- 28:16Speaker 2: difference between him and all of the other ducaddies if
- 28:18Speaker 2: he's able to get a tune out of that thing
- 28:20Speaker 2: that maybe some of the others can't.
- 28:23Speaker 1: You mentioned that he's got a one and three quarter
- 28:26Speaker 1: working shoulder. The writer who hasn't got a working shoulder
- 28:30Speaker 1: at the moment is Maverick Vignalez, who has pulled out
- 28:34Speaker 1: of this weekend Grandfrix, which is a shame. But we
- 28:36Speaker 1: did see that post where he had a big chunk
- 28:38Speaker 1: of metal I think a screw taken out of his shoulder,
- 28:41Speaker 1: So yeah, I know it's pretty graphic if you're into
- 28:43Speaker 1: that stuff. You can see it on his socials. But
- 28:47Speaker 1: he's out for TECHTOIR this weekend. But Paul Spargo, who
- 28:51Speaker 1: normally fills in for these ones, is also out and
- 28:54Speaker 1: not subbing in for him because he's got a hand injury.
- 28:57Speaker 1: I didn't know about this either, but that's interesting. So
- 29:00Speaker 1: we've got one less rider on the grid this weekend.
- 29:03Speaker 1: But also this weekend's important because they've got the HARES
- 29:06Speaker 1: test on Monday. So what do we know about this test?
- 29:10Speaker 1: Because how much are they going to be working on
- 29:13Speaker 1: bikes for this year or is it going to be
- 29:15Speaker 1: anything about next year mat or is it purely just
- 29:18Speaker 1: working on the current models.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I get the sense this is probably the last
- 29:24Speaker 2: of the tests this year that will focus more on
- 29:26Speaker 2: this year than next, right because we're only four rounds
- 29:28Speaker 2: into a twenty two round season. Later in the season,
- 29:31Speaker 2: there's going to be that balance of how much energy
- 29:34Speaker 2: and effort are we going to make for this year
- 29:35Speaker 2: when it's all going in the bin at the end
- 29:36Speaker 2: of the year. Anyway, I still think the focus will
- 29:39Speaker 2: be primarily on this year. But for KCM and for
- 29:42Speaker 2: vignal Is it's a strange one, isn't it. In that
- 29:44Speaker 2: you know, we've heard a lot of discussion about should
- 29:46Speaker 2: teams have permanent reserve riders at every Grand Prix and
- 29:49Speaker 2: it's better for the show to have a full grid
- 29:50Speaker 2: of bikes and so on and so forth. It must
- 29:53Speaker 2: be incredibly frustrating for Tech three, where you know, Vignial
- 29:57Speaker 2: is pulled out for the last Grand Prix and Austin
- 29:58Speaker 2: he's still not right for this one. Their first choice
- 30:02Speaker 2: filly in rider isn't available as well because he's injured.
- 30:05Speaker 2: There is an argument for perhaps having, you know, like
- 30:08Speaker 2: we see in formula one, perhaps having like permanent reserve
- 30:10Speaker 2: riders that are on hand to actually get these bikes
- 30:13Speaker 2: on the grid. The grid will be a little bit swelled.
- 30:15Speaker 2: This weekend. We's got a couple of wild cards with
- 30:17Speaker 2: Augusto Fernandez and Lorenzo Savadori because obviously we've got the
- 30:20Speaker 2: test on Monday that you mentioned. But interesting for Vignales
- 30:24Speaker 2: because the other story with him, of course, is that
- 30:26Speaker 2: he's also out of contract at the end of the season.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Given it looks like KTM might only have four bikes
- 30:31Speaker 2: and not two next year, and it looks very much
- 30:34Speaker 2: like Alex Marquez has got one of those two right now.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Vignalez is theoretically a good fit for factory KTM next year,
- 30:40Speaker 2: but he needs to be on the bike and he
- 30:42Speaker 2: needs to prove and he's got over this injury because
- 30:45Speaker 2: this is the injury. Remember this is the accident that
- 30:47Speaker 2: he had at the Saxon Ring. Last year when he
- 30:50Speaker 2: hurt himself and they missed all those races. So this
- 30:52Speaker 2: is going back to last July. This is lingering for
- 30:55Speaker 2: a really long time now. So what's interesting to me
- 30:58Speaker 2: is that he needs to get back on the bike
- 31:01Speaker 2: and prove that he's right. But he also knows that
- 31:03Speaker 2: if he comes back too early when he's not right,
- 31:04Speaker 2: he's not going to show very well in terms of
- 31:07Speaker 2: the results and might give Katie em a reason to
- 31:09Speaker 2: look elsewhere. So there's a bit of maybe preservation for
- 31:12Speaker 2: Vignales this weekend. Don't race until you're right, because if
- 31:15Speaker 2: you come back when you're not right and you don't perform,
- 31:17Speaker 2: it's going to look bad and you're going.
- 31:19Speaker 1: To sort of march as your market. That's all home scene, right.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, absolutely right. And the difference is with some
- 31:24Speaker 2: of these guys. If you've got a contract or you're
- 31:26Speaker 2: with a manufacturer that's got a surplus of bikes, then
- 31:28Speaker 2: you're probably fine. But Mavericks, we know how good. Maverick
- 31:32Speaker 2: is right, and he wants to come back and show
- 31:34Speaker 2: his best. So whether that extra two weeks before Lamont
- 31:37Speaker 2: actually helps him or not, I don't know, but it's
- 31:40Speaker 2: a difficult decision for a Spanish writer to miss the
- 31:42Speaker 2: Spanish Grand Prix. So I guess that gives you an
- 31:43Speaker 2: indication how injured he still is.
- 31:47Speaker 1: You mentioned the whole reserve writer thing, and I think
- 31:50Speaker 1: it's maybe this is for another podcast we should get
- 31:53Speaker 1: in Frozen conns. But how I'm just going to say,
- 31:58Speaker 1: it's how could I'm write a GP writer when not
- 32:00Speaker 1: even like Moto GP simulations like the F one drivers
- 32:04Speaker 1: who have these cars, and there's no way that I'm like, like,
- 32:07Speaker 1: you know, you said, okay, Paul Spiger is out and
- 32:10Speaker 1: the next person would be Danny Pedrosa, or why is
- 32:12Speaker 1: he not jumping on a bike? Well, when was the
- 32:14Speaker 1: last time he jumped on a Moto GP bike? We
- 32:16Speaker 1: don't ignore, we don't know what happened then, how bike
- 32:19Speaker 1: fit they are and whatnot. So I think to have
- 32:21Speaker 1: reserve writers there just waiting. Yeah, we need to get
- 32:25Speaker 1: into that to a whole other discussion.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I reckon you might, I reckon you've just set the
- 32:30Speaker 2: agenda for our next podcast whenever there's another three week break.
- 32:33Speaker 2: But anyway, that's that's that's another story.
- 32:36Speaker 1: That's another story, and we'll get into that. But this
- 32:39Speaker 1: weekend haraz Brand Prix, matt As always no pressure, but
- 32:44Speaker 1: who's going to win.
- 32:46Speaker 2: I'm saying a ninety seven and a half percent Mark
- 32:50Speaker 2: Marquez is going to win. Fitness. I think this is
- 32:54Speaker 2: the weekend where it's like, all right, it's you know,
- 32:57Speaker 2: I'm back here. You know I'm ready to go. This
- 33:00Speaker 2: is a track where he's had great success in the pass,
- 33:01Speaker 2: He's won here three times. I feel that this is
- 33:03Speaker 2: the weekend where we get a more realistic picture of
- 33:06Speaker 2: what this actual world championship might be. It's all been
- 33:09Speaker 2: fun that it really has done this for the past
- 33:10Speaker 2: three rounds and obviously five in the case of Bozeki,
- 33:13Speaker 2: but a closer to full fitness Mark Marquez, Honor Ducati
- 33:16Speaker 2: at Hareth. It's pretty hard to go against that, isn't it.
- 33:21Speaker 1: I've got this feeling, Martine. I've just got this feeling
- 33:25Speaker 1: at the moment. And look, maybe I'm going to jinx
- 33:27Speaker 1: him right now, but I just think, you know what
- 33:30Speaker 1: we saw in Koder, we're seeing this Incline. You even
- 33:33Speaker 1: said it yourself, a wins possible.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Oh yeah. And the best part about this, and this
- 33:38Speaker 2: is where I love that you're cheering for the storyline
- 33:40Speaker 2: here which is what we do. We love cheering for storylines.
- 33:43Speaker 2: I would love Juege Martin to stay in championship contention
- 33:45Speaker 2: for as long as possible this season because you've got
- 33:48Speaker 2: this looming story that he's out the door, and this
- 33:51Speaker 2: is going to be the really interesting narrative as this
- 33:53Speaker 2: season goes on. You'll have guys competing for big prizes
- 33:56Speaker 2: for manufacturers or teams that they are leaving, and that's
- 33:59Speaker 2: going to be this sort of not cloud, but it's
- 34:01Speaker 2: going to be this undercurrent through the back end of
- 34:04Speaker 2: the season. If Martin's in the championship mixed for a
- 34:06Speaker 2: long time this season and we know that he's leaving,
- 34:09Speaker 2: is that going to be interesting?
- 34:11Speaker 1: M same as like what happened when he was at
- 34:14Speaker 1: Prima Jucaddie Championship.
- 34:18Speaker 2: We've seen that story before.
- 34:20Speaker 1: We've seen that story before. But this weekend, Moto GP
