- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, what are boxing fans? This is the Ropeodope Radio podcast.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I'm your host, Chris Carlson. We are live on a
- 0:10Speaker 1: Tuesday night. John will be calling in here shortly, probably
- 0:15Speaker 1: at about a half hour give or take. I'm assuming
- 0:19Speaker 1: you'll be He you know, won't go down like last week,
- 0:22Speaker 1: but you know he's a busy guy. We will talk,
- 0:25Speaker 1: of course, a variety of things, but we like to
- 0:29Speaker 1: start on this year podcast. In the ring, right, Fabio
- 0:37Speaker 1: Wardley upsets Parker fairly sizeable upset did well on my bets.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I was sweating the over, but man, like my prediction
- 0:53Speaker 1: was by decision Parker, and you know he was on
- 0:59Speaker 1: his way to doing that. I wouldn't say well on
- 1:01Speaker 1: his way just because of how some of the rounds
- 1:04Speaker 1: are going late. But shouts out to Fabio. You know
- 1:11Speaker 1: he got it done. Now, you know, I'm gonna give
- 1:17Speaker 1: my thoughts on the stoppage. Some say it's horrendous, it's horrible.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Some are like, well, he wasn't really punching back a
- 1:25Speaker 1: whole lot. It seemed that he had his wits about him.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I will say that, man, I've also heard folks say
- 1:35Speaker 1: it was really and the reason why is you know,
- 1:40Speaker 1: it shouldn't have been stopped, sure, but it also stole,
- 1:43Speaker 1: you know, a chance for Wardley to properly stop the fight. Now,
- 1:49Speaker 1: as we know, you know, depending on where you live
- 1:53Speaker 1: and where boxing is right, stoppages are different. We know
- 1:59Speaker 1: that stoppages here in the States or in Mexico are
- 2:03Speaker 1: going to be different than in the UK. So I've seen,
- 2:09Speaker 1: let's put it this way, I've seen much worse stoppages
- 2:12Speaker 1: in the UK or just overall. But personally, I did
- 2:18Speaker 1: think it was a bit early. I do have to
- 2:21Speaker 1: say that I thought, like I said, he had his
- 2:24Speaker 1: wits about him. But it was an interesting fight. Would
- 2:29Speaker 1: I like to see a rematch? Yeah I would. I'm
- 2:33Speaker 1: not calling for like, man, it's gonna be an epic rematch, bro,
- 2:37Speaker 1: because the first one was just amazing. It wasn't a
- 2:40Speaker 1: great fight per se, but it was competitive. It's not
- 2:43Speaker 1: like I see some people saying park Parker was just
- 2:46Speaker 1: well on his way, too easily out boxing him. I
- 2:51Speaker 1: don't agree with that. I had him up on the cards,
- 2:53Speaker 1: no doubt, but I don't think it was a walk
- 2:57Speaker 1: in the park. Let's say, so we're gonna talk all
- 2:59Speaker 1: about that. We're gonna kind of do a quick review
- 3:04Speaker 1: of some other action that happened over the weekend. We
- 3:09Speaker 1: do have some cards coming up Wednesday Thursday, but Biwatzie
- 3:17Speaker 1: Parker's kind of an interesting matchup, so there's definitely some
- 3:22Speaker 1: fights this weekend. You know, there's no pay per view,
- 3:29Speaker 1: so that's a positive. And of course we'll get to
- 3:32Speaker 1: some fight news. Mayweather pak Yaw the rematch potentially in
- 3:37Speaker 1: the making. We got some really good news on a
- 3:42Speaker 1: fight that we assumed was made but it wasn't official,
- 3:46Speaker 1: but now it is not only official, but you know
- 3:49Speaker 1: where it's gonna be, right, we'll speculate on the ring
- 3:56Speaker 1: pass that's supposedly coming in November. You know what is
- 4:02Speaker 1: going to be the price point, because we know their
- 4:04Speaker 1: price points are crazy, Like for subs, for subscriptions here
- 4:10Speaker 1: in the US and Canada, they're fucking ridiculous, right, They
- 4:15Speaker 1: just are for the for the content. Compared to the
- 4:18Speaker 1: other streaming services, especially one that doesn't penetrate at all,
- 4:25Speaker 1: you'd think that you try to gain it. But let's see,
- 4:29Speaker 1: you know, let's see what that ring pass is going
- 4:32Speaker 1: to look like. But I'll kind of give my thoughts
- 4:34Speaker 1: on it. But as I've said in the past, like
- 4:39Speaker 1: the fact that they're giving you a ring pass to
- 4:42Speaker 1: include all the pay per views, Well, that means they're
- 4:46Speaker 1: gonna include all the pay per views, meaning they're gonna
- 4:49Speaker 1: keep doing pay per views no matter what Turkey says
- 4:53Speaker 1: or tries to take credit. When the UFC announced their
- 4:57Speaker 1: new deal and how that deal, that in visual deal
- 5:00Speaker 1: doesn't have pay per views, he tried to take credit.
- 5:04Speaker 1: He tries to say, you know, it's hurting boxing, and
- 5:07Speaker 1: we care about the fans, but then you know, do you.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Frank Warren had a message to fans that questioned this
- 5:16Speaker 1: last fight on pay per view, we are about to
- 5:20Speaker 1: get hit with some pay per views coming up. They'll
- 5:25Speaker 1: have a lot better undercard than what we've seen in
- 5:29Speaker 1: recent cards. I'll say that, and I mean recent, not
- 5:33Speaker 1: like recent, like earlier in the year or whatever, but
- 5:37Speaker 1: like you know, like I mean on Saturday, right, and
- 5:42Speaker 1: don't forget, we were gonna get hit with two pay
- 5:45Speaker 1: per views on Saturday, but Fundor got hurt, so they
- 5:50Speaker 1: were gonna stick us up twice, not once, but twice. Now, personally,
- 5:56Speaker 1: I'm always honest with you guys, whether I plan on
- 5:59Speaker 1: by a pay per view whether who I'm watching it with,
- 6:04Speaker 1: if I split the costs with somebody. Sometimes just hanging
- 6:08Speaker 1: out with old friends and we ended up, you know,
- 6:10Speaker 1: splitt in a fight, and we just do it because
- 6:13Speaker 1: you know, it's fun, it's something to do. Maybe there's
- 6:18Speaker 1: a really good fight, you know, or like a fan,
- 6:21Speaker 1: like one of my friends, really loves a fighter. I
- 6:25Speaker 1: just know that they're going to get the pay per view. Okay,
- 6:27Speaker 1: I'll come over whatever this one. But there's times where
- 6:31Speaker 1: I just haven't even Canelo fights and moliarly Weather fights
- 6:35Speaker 1: and pack you off. You know, there's times that I haven't.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And this is the time. I did not. Now, I
- 6:40Speaker 1: don't steal streams. I was not live streaming it. Now,
- 6:46Speaker 1: I did watch it live to me after it was
- 6:51Speaker 1: posted online. Once it's posted online until they take it down,
- 6:59Speaker 1: that's gonna be on you Tube or whatever other platform. Right,
- 7:02Speaker 1: So I did not steal the stream I do not
- 7:06Speaker 1: steal the live streams. But you know I didn't. I
- 7:11Speaker 1: didn't pay for this pay per view. I didn't think
- 7:14Speaker 1: the main event was worthy, and I damn sure, if
- 7:16Speaker 1: you're gonna have a main event like this, you better
- 7:18Speaker 1: hook up the other card. And they just didn't. They
- 7:21Speaker 1: just didn't, So they didn't get my money this time, right,
- 7:26Speaker 1: And don't get me wrong, there's been some fights that
- 7:29Speaker 1: turn out to be one sided, nothing in main events,
- 7:32Speaker 1: some of the biggest fights as far as like pay
- 7:37Speaker 1: per view numbers, like Canelo Mayweather that was a one
- 7:40Speaker 1: sided fight. Was it entertaining? Yeah?
- 7:42Speaker 2: Did it have.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You know Garcia Matissa as the co feature? Hell yeah,
- 7:48Speaker 1: you know, so like it is what it is, though,
- 7:51Speaker 1: I mean, really, Mayweather and Pacyao wasn't competitive either, no
- 7:55Speaker 1: matter what Manny says, it just wasn't How many rounds
- 7:58Speaker 1: did you actually give them? Like, honestly, so I didn't
- 8:03Speaker 1: pay for the pay per view doesn't mean I'll never
- 8:05Speaker 1: pay for another pay view. I'm just like I said,
- 8:07Speaker 1: I'm just honest with it. There's times where you gotta
- 8:10Speaker 1: kind of say, no, dude, I'm not supporting this. In
- 8:15Speaker 1: other times, like I said, somebody I know will just
- 8:17Speaker 1: buy that fight because I know they will, and so
- 8:20Speaker 1: I'll go hang out with them, or like I said,
- 8:22Speaker 1: we split with a few people then all of a sudden,
- 8:25Speaker 1: it doesn't feel like you know, it's just a form
- 8:28Speaker 1: of entertainment sometimes, so it is what it is. I'm
- 8:31Speaker 1: not trying to you know, if you bought the pay
- 8:35Speaker 1: per view, I'm not shaming you. You know, if you
- 8:39Speaker 1: fire stick it, I'm not shaming you. I just don't
- 8:42Speaker 1: do that, that's all. So yeah, we're gonna get into it,
- 8:46Speaker 1: and then, of course a lot of the follow up
- 8:48Speaker 1: from that in depth stuff I did last week from
- 8:51Speaker 1: the ZUFA contract and tried to correlate it to some
- 8:55Speaker 1: contracts that are in the current boxing before ZUFA enters
- 9:00Speaker 1: or I suppose it has entered. So we'll follow up
- 9:03Speaker 1: with some of that because I don't want to talk
- 9:06Speaker 1: to John about that and get his thoughts on that
- 9:10Speaker 1: in a variety of things. But if and then of course,
- 9:14Speaker 1: you know, preview predictions and all that good boxing Twitter
- 9:17Speaker 1: stuff per usual. But if it is your first time

- 10:22Speaker 1: ninety nine for the first month. Okay, so we obviously
- 10:28Speaker 1: are gonna start to dig into this. This fight, this
- 10:33Speaker 1: heavyweight fight. Like I said, it was very competitive. I
- 10:38Speaker 1: definitely like enjoyed it. I thought there was competitive rounds
- 10:43Speaker 1: that could have went either way. I thought, you know,
- 10:46Speaker 1: maybe Parker was winning around and then Wardly stole it.
- 10:52Speaker 1: And then you know, there was plenty of times where
- 10:55Speaker 1: you could see they were getting gas, they were taking breaks.
- 10:59Speaker 1: There was around where both of them on a clinch
- 11:02Speaker 1: was taken a long break, and I think by the
- 11:05Speaker 1: end of it, they were both fairly tired. But obviously
- 11:08Speaker 1: Wardley wasn't you know, wasn't ultimately tired, right because he
- 11:12Speaker 1: finished it. No matter what we think of the finisher,
- 11:18Speaker 1: you know, the finished product. I guess you could say
- 11:20Speaker 1: I did give park of the first round mostly jabs,
- 11:26Speaker 1: you know, decent right hand gave Wardley the second. Wardley
- 11:33Speaker 1: was landing. He was a little for a while in
- 11:38Speaker 1: this fight. He was in throughout the fight. He was
- 11:41Speaker 1: short on his punches. I will say that now. He
- 11:46Speaker 1: didn't go out of his way to reach as much
- 11:49Speaker 1: as we've seen in the past. You know, once in
- 11:52Speaker 1: a while he'd go off balance or something. But overall
- 11:55Speaker 1: I thought he did a pretty good job of maintaining that,
- 11:59Speaker 1: not reaching getting caught too much. But in that second round,
- 12:04Speaker 1: although he had Parker, you know, landing jabs to the
- 12:08Speaker 1: stomach and head in a nice big right hand, like
- 12:12Speaker 1: right around a halfway point, I thought, some right hands
- 12:18Speaker 1: and some hooks in a nice uppercut he did land.
- 12:21Speaker 1: That may have been his bet Beyond the jab. That
- 12:23Speaker 1: may have been his best shots is the uppercuts. There
- 12:27Speaker 1: wasn't a lot of them Mortley, but he didn't and
- 12:30Speaker 1: to me that was enough to give him the second round.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I thought the third round was really really close, very close,
- 12:37Speaker 1: late right hands by both guys. I gave it to Parker,
- 12:43Speaker 1: but it was close. It was very close. Then I
- 12:45Speaker 1: thought Parker went on a decent run. I gave him
- 12:47Speaker 1: the fourth, the fifth, and the sixth. Like Wordley was
- 12:53Speaker 1: landing off the ropes in that fourth round, but not
- 12:57Speaker 1: all of it was all that clean, and just a
- 13:01Speaker 1: few kind of quick, clean combos in the last part
- 13:04Speaker 1: of the fourth were enough for me. The fifth round
- 13:08Speaker 1: kind of slowed down a bit. A few decent lands
- 13:11Speaker 1: were just enough for Parker. Then Parker and the sixth well,
- 13:15Speaker 1: both of them jabb really nice, but the short left
- 13:17Speaker 1: hooks and then a really nice right hand later in
- 13:22Speaker 1: the round were enough. There was a nice right upper
- 13:25Speaker 1: cut like I mentioned, with the jab for wardly it
- 13:30Speaker 1: maybe like thirty seconds left or so, but I didn't
- 13:33Speaker 1: think it was enough now, similar to the fifth round,
- 13:39Speaker 1: the sixth round beyond some small little flurries, the fight
- 13:44Speaker 1: started to slow down here, and so to me the
- 13:47Speaker 1: seventh ouch. To me the seventh was it's kind of
- 13:52Speaker 1: a swing round. It could have went either way, and
- 13:55Speaker 1: I actually just put a question mark there. I didn't
- 13:57Speaker 1: even score it. The eighth round I gave to Parker
- 14:01Speaker 1: once again, both of them jabbed and for the most part,
- 14:05Speaker 1: as far as the clean lands and just a little
- 14:08Speaker 1: bit better punching that as far as landing just a
- 14:11Speaker 1: few for Parker that gave him that the ninth round
- 14:17Speaker 1: jabs left hooks, then like a left hook, later more
- 14:24Speaker 1: right hands by Parker. I gave Parker the ninth the
- 14:28Speaker 1: jab right hand and then you know, a couple of
- 14:32Speaker 1: decent shots by Worldly, no doubt. But in that round
- 14:36Speaker 1: he looked like he was holding a little bit more,
- 14:38Speaker 1: looked like he was kind of trying to catch his
- 14:40Speaker 1: breath a little bit. I thought the tenth round was
- 14:43Speaker 1: really close, but I gave it to Wardley. You know,
- 14:47Speaker 1: both of them at times during the clinches, resting, and
- 14:53Speaker 1: there was like multiple right hands, and you know by
- 14:58Speaker 1: Parker in the last part, but also right hands in
- 15:02Speaker 1: another uppercut. If I'm not mistaken, I think he stole
- 15:06Speaker 1: that round. In the tenth round, I did, and then
- 15:11Speaker 1: and I'm talking about Wardley, So you know, I gave
- 15:15Speaker 1: Wordley let's see one, two, three, you know about three
- 15:21Speaker 1: maybe four rounds. Like I said, I didn't score the
- 15:23Speaker 1: seventh round, so if you give him that, you know,
- 15:27Speaker 1: I said that the third and the uh, I thought
- 15:31Speaker 1: the third and the tenth were pretty close. Let's see
- 15:37Speaker 1: here do. So I gave Parker one, two, three, four. Yeah,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I had Parker up. But it was a closer than
- 15:45Speaker 1: a lot of people thought. Uh from what I saw
- 15:48Speaker 1: people talking about anyway, just about maybe seconds of sixty
- 15:56Speaker 1: seconds seconds sixty seconds or so. In to that eleventh round,
- 16:01Speaker 1: a big, big right hand by Wardley, some body shots
- 16:07Speaker 1: a really really sharp uppercut, and you know, like not
- 16:19Speaker 1: long after there was like a flurry of combinations, but
- 16:23Speaker 1: some of them landed really well, others not landing at all,
- 16:27Speaker 1: you know, and it did. I think I've said this
- 16:29Speaker 1: for the third time. I felt like Parker still had
- 16:32Speaker 1: his wits about him. He you know, now in that
- 16:36Speaker 1: last little you know flurry, maybe not the last one,
- 16:43Speaker 1: but like he was leaning on a rope, but he
- 16:45Speaker 1: was coming off a different rope the one right before it.
- 16:49Speaker 1: He did throw like a wild left hook that missed,
- 16:55Speaker 1: and he did get shook up pretty well by the
- 16:59Speaker 1: shots that were landing the right hand in the uppercuts
- 17:01Speaker 1: and stuff like that. I would have liked the ref now,
- 17:06Speaker 1: unless someone can show me a clip of him saying,
- 17:10Speaker 1: hey man, you gotta pick it up, you gotta throw,
- 17:12Speaker 1: or I'm gonna stop it. I didn't see that. I
- 17:15Speaker 1: didn't hear that, but you could see. But to be fair,
- 17:20Speaker 1: you could you could see the ref right there. So
- 17:24Speaker 1: you can say Parker should have thrown more. I think
- 17:27Speaker 1: that's fair. And if he wasn't gonna throw more, he
- 17:30Speaker 1: could have taken a knee, but he also maybe felt
- 17:33Speaker 1: like I didn't. I don't need to take a knee.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I just gotta with, you know, withstand this and I'll
- 17:38Speaker 1: be good. And I also, as I mentioned, I do
- 17:43Speaker 1: kind of think that Wordley got screwed too, because he
- 17:46Speaker 1: could have maybe stopped him. There wasn't enough time in
- 17:49Speaker 1: the round, probably, so I do think it was a
- 17:54Speaker 1: bad you know, I think it was an early stoppage.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Like I said, I've seen worse plenty times, but I
- 18:00Speaker 1: would have liked to see how it played out. Now.
- 18:05Speaker 1: It's not the same reason. Sometimes a lot of people say, hey,
- 18:09Speaker 1: Parker was up in that fight. Yeah, I hear you,
- 18:13Speaker 1: but that's not a rest not supposed to think that way.
- 18:16Speaker 1: So that's kind of the knee jerk that everybody goes to. Dude,
- 18:20Speaker 1: he was up in the fight. How could you do that?
- 18:23Speaker 1: You're not supposed to think that way every round, Every punch.
- 18:26Speaker 1: It's all supposed to be fresh, now do you. I
- 18:30Speaker 1: shouldn't say that because within realms and throughout a fight,
- 18:34Speaker 1: if you've seen someone take punishment, then you count that,
- 18:38Speaker 1: of course, you know, just to clarify that, But you
- 18:41Speaker 1: don't think in your head, well, he's up probably three rounds,
- 18:45Speaker 1: so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and
- 18:47Speaker 1: we'll see what happens. That's just not how you're supposed
- 18:49Speaker 1: to do it. Now. You can say, you know how,
- 18:53Speaker 1: somebody should have, could have, would have, But you're not
- 18:56Speaker 1: supposed to do that. You know you're not. Just not,
- 18:59Speaker 1: so you're supposed to just you know, look at it fresh.
- 19:06Speaker 1: You know you're not supposed to every rounds a little different.
- 19:09Speaker 1: But yeah, Diah, I thought it was a bad stoppers.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Long story short. I'll stop going on about it. I will, so, Yeah,
- 19:15Speaker 1: I would like to see a rematch. I definitely would
- 19:18Speaker 1: like to see a rematch. I know a lot of
- 19:20Speaker 1: people are saying Usik. You know, Parker lost out on
- 19:23Speaker 1: the Usik fight, and they're going right to Usk. I'd
- 19:27Speaker 1: like to see a rematch. I would. I think that
- 19:30Speaker 1: Parker fought well enough to deserve it. If you look
- 19:34Speaker 1: at copy Box one, sixty six to one, thirty two.
- 19:40Speaker 1: As far as overall lands, now, this one kind of
- 19:43Speaker 1: threw me off sixty to seven with the body shots.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I didn't cease sixty to seven. And we know body
- 19:51Speaker 1: shots a lot of times they're undercounted or not by
- 19:56Speaker 1: the judges like giving their fair respect. But in this one,
- 20:01Speaker 1: this is just me. It kind of feels like I
- 20:04Speaker 1: don't know. I mean, I suppose most of them were jabs.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Let me actually check the jab out thirty six out
- 20:09Speaker 1: of okay, so thirty six or thirty nine of them
- 20:12Speaker 1: were jabs. And that's the one thing I did see
- 20:14Speaker 1: a whole lot of but a lot of the like
- 20:17Speaker 1: twenty six to three in that last round, that's really
- 20:22Speaker 1: where he gained to steam. As far as the punch,
- 20:26Speaker 1: you know where it goes, twenty seven to eighteen as well.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Wordly in that last the last two rounds twenty seven
- 20:32Speaker 1: to eighteen and twenty six to three, and three punches
- 20:37Speaker 1: is not that many. He threw eleven in the round,
- 20:41Speaker 1: so yeah, he could have picked it up, you know,
- 20:43Speaker 1: he could have picked it up. There was a lot
- 20:45Speaker 1: of close rounds when you're just looking at it. Twelve
- 20:48Speaker 1: to nine, eleven to eight, you know, fourteen to twelve, eleven, eleven, eleven, nine.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Like it was a competitive fight. It was a very
- 20:58Speaker 1: competitive fight, and I, you know, like I said, I
- 21:04Speaker 1: would like to see them do it again. I think
- 21:09Speaker 1: that's a fair assessment. Ezra Taylor won, Royston Barney Smith
- 21:20Speaker 1: pulled an upset. Only saw highlights of that. Saw some
- 21:26Speaker 1: highlights from some of the fights, but you know, I
- 21:30Speaker 1: didn't buy the whole payview, so I don't have access
- 21:32Speaker 1: to those fights because they're not really online from what
- 21:36Speaker 1: I could see anyway. But yeah, I mean, overall, a
- 21:42Speaker 1: pretty good competitive fight even if you had you know,
- 21:46Speaker 1: Parker up. I saw the broadcast had them up a
- 21:50Speaker 1: little bit. You know what were the scorecards? Actually know
- 21:57Speaker 1: that I think about it.
- 22:01Speaker 2: You know.
- 22:04Speaker 1: What were they I'm gonna actually totally I don't know
- 22:07Speaker 1: why I closed that out, but I did have him up,
- 22:11Speaker 1: but some really competitive rounds, So I don't I don't know, man,
- 22:15Speaker 1: I would like a secretmatch. That's just the bottom line.
- 22:17Speaker 1: I know, I keep saying that. But so the scorecards
- 22:21Speaker 1: read oh okay, so it's not they don't have them
- 22:30Speaker 1: on box rack, so I don't remember what the scorecards
- 22:33Speaker 1: were to be honest, YEA. From my understanding, it was
- 22:40Speaker 1: for a Wobo introm belt. And you know, I will
- 22:45Speaker 1: say this about Parker. A lot of people said he's
- 22:47Speaker 1: only been stopped funny enough in the same round, eleventh
- 22:53Speaker 1: round once by Joe Joyce. That was about three years ago,
- 22:58Speaker 1: a little over three years ago. Ever, take I think
- 23:00Speaker 1: because I think that fight was in September. It was
- 23:03Speaker 1: in a September fight. Otherwise, Josh, when Dillion White those
- 23:07Speaker 1: back to back losses, he did not h you know,
- 23:10Speaker 1: he did get stopped at though, So but I don't know.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I think people are just gonna debate about it, argue
- 23:18Speaker 1: about it. You know, it is what it is. That
- 23:20Speaker 1: that's that's what That's what happens, right, But overall, you know,
- 23:27Speaker 1: definitely would love to see the rematch. I think it's worthy.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I think the fight would be bigger now, you know,
- 23:36Speaker 1: crowd wise and ticket pricing and all that. Now, I
- 23:40Speaker 1: think it'd be bigger, you know, And that's not taking
- 23:43Speaker 1: anything away from Warblely. Like I said, I can't remember
- 23:47Speaker 1: who tweeted it, but I agree with the fact that
- 23:50Speaker 1: world they kind of got screwed out of an official knockout.
- 23:53Speaker 1: So I had my bet let two big bets, both
- 23:58Speaker 1: of them plus numbers. I talked about how you could
- 24:02Speaker 1: have put money out all four of the outcomes four
- 24:07Speaker 1: out of five, I should say, not including a draw.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I rarely better draw. Of course, you know, plus twenty
- 24:15Speaker 1: three hundred, you won't need to put much money out.
- 24:17Speaker 1: He could put five and be good to go anyway.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I had Joseph Parker by decision plus one eighty two,
- 24:24Speaker 1: and I had because I thought he'd win by decision.
- 24:28Speaker 1: And I thought if Wordley was gonna win, he's gonna
- 24:30Speaker 1: win by knockouts. So I had plus four ten. So
- 24:33Speaker 1: either way, I was gonna win money on this thing.
- 24:37Speaker 1: I was going back and forth with the will to
- 24:40Speaker 1: fight go the distance, yes or no, And that was
- 24:44Speaker 1: a plus one forty. I almost did that, but I thought,
- 24:47Speaker 1: you know what, like, eh, I'm gonna hold off. I'm
- 24:52Speaker 1: gonna hold off on that. But so I did bet
- 24:55Speaker 1: on both sides, and you know you do a per right,
- 25:01Speaker 1: but you know, like you also to me, I don't
- 25:07Speaker 1: think it's bad to be on both sides and certain
- 25:10Speaker 1: you know, certain fights. I think it makes sense, you know,
- 25:17Speaker 1: because that's what it's all about you're trying to win
- 25:20Speaker 1: the bet, so you know, to me, but I was
- 25:26Speaker 1: sweating I had I had the over at ten and
- 25:28Speaker 1: a half. Was it nine and a half or no,
- 25:30Speaker 1: it's ten and a half because and I remember this
- 25:32Speaker 1: years ago when people started betting, they thought it was
- 25:38Speaker 1: ten and a half, Like during the tenth round, halfway
- 25:42Speaker 1: through ten and a half rounds means it's going ten
- 25:46Speaker 1: rounds in half the eleventh. So that was sweating that,
- 25:53Speaker 1: you know that that was one of those things here.
- 25:56Speaker 1: So let me see. I just googled something really quick
- 26:00Speaker 1: to see if I could get the scorecards. Okay, the scorecards.
- 26:04Speaker 1: So two of them were ninety eight ninety two. One
- 26:06Speaker 1: of them was ninety six ninety four with two periods remaining,
- 26:11Speaker 1: so going into the eleventh round. So there you have it.
- 26:19Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean he'll probably get you know, the
- 26:23Speaker 1: Usik fight. I'd assume, you know, that's just that's just
- 26:28Speaker 1: my my guess, right. I talk about a rematch, but
- 26:34Speaker 1: I'm also very realistic, so I don't think there'll be
- 26:37Speaker 1: a rematch. I think they'll go right to it, and
- 26:41Speaker 1: especially now that Husak says, you know that he's got
- 26:45Speaker 1: as many fights as he says he does, you know,
- 26:48Speaker 1: talking about five fights or whatever. So so that definitely
- 26:52Speaker 1: wouldn't went shocked me one bit. So yeah, over all,
- 27:00Speaker 1: good fight. We also had Joshua Pagan when he won
- 27:08Speaker 1: by knockout what was it the w b O n
- 27:15Speaker 1: a b O lightweight champ or something like that. Comita
- 27:21Speaker 1: and Casa Mayor fought Comeda beat him by a decision.
- 27:27Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it was Unanus.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Uh it was, you know, it was Comedia was basically
- 27:34Speaker 3: like trying to land a big, big punch and he
- 27:39Speaker 3: just wasn't accurate.
- 27:41Speaker 1: But then again, like when he tried to do that,
- 27:46Speaker 1: probably overall he was the more accurate. But you know,
- 27:50Speaker 1: it was a boring fight. Casor instead of cutting the ring,
- 27:55Speaker 1: you know, he followed them. You know, it was a
- 27:57Speaker 1: bad fight. M though shots out to him. He did
- 28:01Speaker 1: get you know, he did get an upset. Oh. People
- 28:05Speaker 1: did talk about, you know, against Deantay Wilder two forty five,
- 28:09Speaker 1: Parker two sixty two this time, Uh, you know, was
- 28:14Speaker 1: that why he was a little bit tired. Also committed
- 28:19Speaker 1: Camellia Zama Rano. I think she she did really well.
- 28:23Speaker 1: She that she from the jump, she was really you
- 28:27Speaker 1: know both of them were really going at it in
- 28:31Speaker 1: this fight. She is the youngest champion. I can't remember
- 28:34Speaker 1: her name off the top who vacated the belt, but
- 28:38Speaker 1: she got the belt, she defended it. She's seventeen years old. Also,
- 28:43Speaker 1: I saw Tim Boxyo highlighting Kenneth Lovere Lover, who was
- 28:51Speaker 1: a sixteen ton ol prospect, talking about lands of counter
- 28:55Speaker 1: jab in the fourth which appeared to damage bell Door's eye.
- 29:01Speaker 1: So I saw just clips of that. Also that here's
- 29:05Speaker 1: the Tim Boxy again end of the ninth in Manila,
- 29:09Speaker 1: and uh, this dude just a bloody messy. He really was,
- 29:13Speaker 1: he really was. Also there was a prospect uh Pacians, Yeah,
- 29:25Speaker 1: you think he's like twelve and oh now nasty knockout. Oh.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Luis Nary also got a decision. It was a it
- 29:33Speaker 1: was from a head clash, I think right around was
- 29:39Speaker 1: it the was it the seventh or eighth. I think
- 29:42Speaker 1: it was the eighth. At the end of the eighth,
- 29:44Speaker 1: I don't think it winned at the ninth. So he
- 29:47Speaker 1: got the win. Oh and also and he was clearly
- 29:53Speaker 1: winning anyway. And uh, Francisco Roderiez also one in an
- 30:00Speaker 1: easy fight obviously, you know he had some issues as
- 30:07Speaker 1: far as testing whatever. Okay, so it was eighty seven
- 30:10Speaker 1: eighty four going in. Oh wait, that's after Yeah, that's
- 30:15Speaker 1: after nine rounds on the telecast. Somebody sent me a
- 30:20Speaker 1: message asking me that just got to following up with that,
- 30:24Speaker 1: so you know, he was up.
- 30:27Speaker 2: I don't.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I don't agree with the two scorecards. Oh I see
- 30:30Speaker 1: John pop in here. I'm gonna bring him in here. Yeah.
- 30:35Speaker 1: I don't agree with the two scorecards. I did have
- 30:37Speaker 1: Bordley win a few more rounds, but not not that
- 30:41Speaker 1: big of a deal. But overall, you know, Hey.
- 30:47Speaker 2: What's going on, Chris, how's it going? Not bad? How
- 30:50Speaker 2: are you good? Good?
- 30:53Speaker 1: Good? Good to see you, good to hear from you.
- 30:59Speaker 1: So I was just kind of talking about the Parker
- 31:02Speaker 1: Wardly fight. I I didn't pay for the pay for view.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I watched it after the fact, you know, because there
- 31:12Speaker 1: are that's up to YouTube to take it off their
- 31:15Speaker 1: own platform. That's not up to me, right, sure, I don't.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I wasn't live streaming it or stealing the stream or
- 31:22Speaker 1: anything like that. I don't you know whoever paid for
- 31:26Speaker 1: the payview. I've paid for plenty of pay views, but
- 31:29Speaker 1: I don't, you know, people want to stream it live.
- 31:31Speaker 1: That's their prerogative too. I mean, when you add this
- 31:33Speaker 1: many pay reviews to the market over the last few years,
- 31:36Speaker 1: you can't get mad when people are talking about a firestick,
- 31:39Speaker 1: you know what I mean, that's just oh yeah.
- 31:41Speaker 2: It shouldn't it shouldn't be pay per view. Yeah, anyway,
- 31:44Speaker 2: and it seemed a lot of people, I mean people.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Of course, it's not that anybody likes paying for it,
- 31:51Speaker 2: but there be some people making excuses for it. And
- 31:55Speaker 2: one of the more encouraging things is there seems to
- 31:59Speaker 2: be less fans making excuses for it now.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you're right that it has turned. I guess
- 32:05Speaker 1: it took two separate times and a half a year
- 32:09Speaker 1: to have three within a matter of two weeks. I
- 32:11Speaker 1: think that's what took it. And remember, we were gonna
- 32:14Speaker 1: get hit with back to back pay per views on
- 32:16Speaker 1: Saturday because until Fendora got hurt, right, technically, we were
- 32:20Speaker 1: going to get the afternoon in the night pay per view.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Isn't that quite a delight for us fans? You know?
- 32:27Speaker 2: Yeah? And you're you're not reaching anybody except extremely hardcore
- 32:33Speaker 2: you know, boxing fans, and really even people that you
- 32:36Speaker 2: know commentate on the sport writers things like that. You're
- 32:40Speaker 2: just you're not reaching anybody else. So it's it's just
- 32:45Speaker 2: whatever they can get that market to pay, and that's
- 32:50Speaker 2: going to keep shrinking, shrinking and shrinking. I'm sure we're
- 32:55Speaker 2: in that process already.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, we have been for quite some time. And
- 33:01Speaker 1: we'll get in later in the show during your segment,
- 33:06Speaker 1: you know, in November, which is coming up. It's hard
- 33:08Speaker 1: to believe that it's gonna.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Be November first year it is.
- 33:11Speaker 1: That's really hard to believe. It feels like college football
- 33:14Speaker 1: just started and here we are week ten exactly. Yeah,
- 33:18Speaker 1: but you know, we'll see what the ring pass, you know,
- 33:24Speaker 1: the ring pass thing we've already talked about, how you know,
- 33:28Speaker 1: a double subscription or.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Like, right, that's the problem is the double subscriptions.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Right, and even if it's just okay, there's one price,
- 33:37Speaker 1: but the if they need to have a ring pass
- 33:40Speaker 1: to pay for all the pay per views, that tells
- 33:42Speaker 1: you they're gonna keep having pay per views then, right,
- 33:45Speaker 1: I mean what else would that be?
- 33:47Speaker 2: You know? Yeah, the I mean Turkey Ala Chik has
- 33:55Speaker 2: been been weak on the broadcast part of it, you know,
- 33:59Speaker 2: and you're with Canelo Crawford, he was going to not
- 34:03Speaker 2: have it on Netflix. Then he smartly backtracked and put
- 34:06Speaker 2: that on there. But outside of that move, broad the
- 34:10Speaker 2: broadcasting strategy, you know, like even when he's put together
- 34:13Speaker 2: good fights, the broadcasting strategy just hasn't been there. I mean,
- 34:17Speaker 2: I'm going to say it again for like what we
- 34:19Speaker 2: had this past weekend, because I've said it before, and
- 34:23Speaker 2: I do think there's a bit of an opportunity there
- 34:25Speaker 2: that's that's being missed. You know, you and I have
- 34:29Speaker 2: talked Chris too, like you know, this heavyweight and you
- 34:31Speaker 2: saw some other people saying it after Saturday, and it
- 34:33Speaker 2: is true, like I mean, this heavyweight era going back
- 34:36Speaker 2: to let's say twenty fifteen, I mean, there have been
- 34:40Speaker 2: there have been some good fights. I mean there have
- 34:42Speaker 2: been some memorable fights. And you know, the heavyweight division
- 34:47Speaker 2: even now, it's so always capable of carrying the sport
- 34:52Speaker 2: if you know it's put out there properly. And you know,
- 34:55Speaker 2: I've been saying it for a while, like even like
- 34:57Speaker 2: these fights where you have heavyweights where there's not us
- 35:02Speaker 2: sensibilities per se, because you know, the American presence of
- 35:06Speaker 2: the heavyweight divisions dried up to basically nothing. I still
- 35:10Speaker 2: think heavyweights can have that kind of appeal, like if
- 35:14Speaker 2: if you had some reasonable promotion and you stayed with
- 35:17Speaker 2: it for a while. Like what I mean is, like
- 35:18Speaker 2: I've said this a lot, like if you had especially
- 35:22Speaker 2: now where you have streaming, you can take advantage of that.
- 35:25Speaker 2: You know, if you had non pay per view, you know,
- 35:28Speaker 2: like the ESPN plus type of thing, right, you know,
- 35:32Speaker 2: I don't think the zone which is enough, but you know,
- 35:34Speaker 2: if you had Amazon or Netflix, and let's say, you know,
- 35:38Speaker 2: if there were other things going on at the same time,
- 35:40Speaker 2: at least with streaming, you could still have an on
- 35:42Speaker 2: and if you ran it in the US, like you know,
- 35:47Speaker 2: late in the afternoon or like six pm Eastern or
- 35:50Speaker 2: something like that, or even in the early evening you
- 35:53Speaker 2: know on a Saturday or frankly, it could even be
- 35:55Speaker 2: a different night. And what I have in mind is like,
- 35:57Speaker 2: let's you know, forget the direct under car cards which
- 36:00Speaker 2: just confuses people and runs off viewers, and have like
- 36:04Speaker 2: Parker Wardly and maybe another really good heavyweight fight like Turkey. Aw,
- 36:08Speaker 2: she's been able to put that kind of stuff together,
- 36:10Speaker 2: and like, you know, I'm looking from the American perspective,
- 36:13Speaker 2: Like I think if you had fights like Wardley Parker
- 36:17Speaker 2: that were good and then like you know, there was
- 36:20Speaker 2: maybe a good one, good one leading up to that
- 36:22Speaker 2: that was the only undercard, and then you had that
- 36:24Speaker 2: again like a month later or something like that, and
- 36:27Speaker 2: you kept having top ten heavyweights. I think even in
- 36:31Speaker 2: today's day and age in the US, you could probably
- 36:35Speaker 2: get some people coming across that saying, hey, you know,
- 36:38Speaker 2: I liked seeing those big guys just rocking each other
- 36:43Speaker 2: and that kind of stuff. You know, it's just every
- 36:46Speaker 2: time something like this, it's good that it's a good fight,
- 36:49Speaker 2: but then I feel like, you know, from the US,
- 36:52Speaker 2: it's a missed opportunity. But now you know, they're running
- 36:55Speaker 2: this pay per view everywhere. I mean, so you're missing
- 36:59Speaker 2: opportunity in other countries as well, and it's just you know,
- 37:03Speaker 2: the sport's not going anywhere like that.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Yeah, And if you if you built these fighters without
- 37:10Speaker 1: pay per view, then you wanted to do a pay
- 37:12Speaker 1: per view, well then at least, you know, I mean,
- 37:14Speaker 1: while they're fought on showtime like ten times, he should
- 37:18Speaker 1: fought on Fox, a couple of times on NBC, you know,
- 37:21Speaker 1: and then they built it up and you could tell, hey,
- 37:23Speaker 1: that did that did a profit? Oh that's cool. You
- 37:26Speaker 1: know that's different. We're not saying that there's never going
- 37:28Speaker 1: to be a pay per view ever. You know that happens.
- 37:31Speaker 1: We're in that, you know, we're in that realm. But
- 37:34Speaker 1: when everything, like you said, is on pay per view,
- 37:36Speaker 1: and now, you know, you set the bar so high
- 37:40Speaker 1: with like multiple fights that could be main events that
- 37:44Speaker 1: when you don't have that, all of a sudden, you're like,
- 37:47Speaker 1: what kind of shit is this? You know, this pay
- 37:49Speaker 1: per view under card. That's part of the reason why
- 37:51Speaker 1: I didn't, you know, I didn't think this main event
- 37:53Speaker 1: should have been in payer view. But I damn sure
- 37:55Speaker 1: don't think they put much effort into.
- 37:57Speaker 2: The know they put they put none and you and
- 38:00Speaker 2: when you can't figure out what time exactly the main
- 38:03Speaker 2: event's going to start, they think they're being tricky forcing
- 38:07Speaker 2: you to watch the garbage undercard, and all they do
- 38:11Speaker 2: is turn out off everybody. Everybody's getting bored and resentful
- 38:15Speaker 2: that they're sitting there with hours of their time in
- 38:18Speaker 2: and just stop that nonsense. I mean, you're not building
- 38:22Speaker 2: these other guys up, who aren't that good. It's just
- 38:24Speaker 2: wasting everybody's time, they're getting bored. And like you said
- 38:28Speaker 2: about the build up Chris to a pay per view
- 38:31Speaker 2: people would care about. I think that could work possitively
- 38:34Speaker 2: in both ways. Like I was saying it, you know,
- 38:37Speaker 2: before Parker, you know, we went with the wordly option
- 38:41Speaker 2: instead of Cabael, which I'm sure they calculated out was
- 38:46Speaker 2: the lesser risk if he was going to have another fight,
- 38:48Speaker 2: but was a legit top ten guy, and then he lost,
- 38:52Speaker 2: So you know, Cabiel is still there. And I had
- 38:55Speaker 2: this debate with the Transnational. It was kind of like
- 38:57Speaker 2: a half and half, and I saw the ring ended
- 38:59Speaker 2: up going to Wardley number one too. But I thought,
- 39:02Speaker 2: you know, even though Wardley got this big win, you know,
- 39:05Speaker 2: Cabael should be the number one guy. But look, you've
- 39:08Speaker 2: already got that debate. So what I'm saying, like like
- 39:11Speaker 2: you said, with the build up to a worthy pay
- 39:13Speaker 2: per view fight, right, this is kind of what we're missing. Like,
- 39:16Speaker 2: so let's say now, I'm going to say it now
- 39:18Speaker 2: with Wardley having come up with this big win instead
- 39:21Speaker 2: of Okay, let's have you know, Wardley fight USIK. Now,
- 39:25Speaker 2: Now what if Wardley and Cavel fight like then whoever
- 39:30Speaker 2: comes out of that, you've got a good fight that's entertaining,
- 39:34Speaker 2: and then whoever wins that then as good as Usik is,
- 39:38Speaker 2: then at least people are saying like, well, hey, you
- 39:40Speaker 2: know this guy, he's gone through everybody. I want to
- 39:45Speaker 2: see Usik fight this guy. Now, you know, I'm not
- 39:47Speaker 2: sure he's gonna win, but you know, like when you
- 39:50Speaker 2: have Wardley beating a Parker, it's close to that, but
- 39:52Speaker 2: it's still not quite that. Like if he then beat Cabal,
- 39:56Speaker 2: let's say, in four months they fought, then then you know,
- 40:00Speaker 2: you're saying like, hey, I want to see Wardley get
- 40:03Speaker 2: that shot at Doo sick, you like, and people have
- 40:06Speaker 2: seen him in these good fights, and then it's gonna
- 40:08Speaker 2: sell if maybe you make that the pay per view.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Like it kind of works both ways. You're getting good,
- 40:14Speaker 2: entertaining fights between contenders that are helping the sport, and
- 40:18Speaker 2: at the same time you're building you're you know, then
- 40:22Speaker 2: the promoters and the fighters can get something that's worthy.
- 40:26Speaker 1: That's fine. Yeah, it's a business, we understand.
- 40:29Speaker 2: You know, right, And that's the way it used to
- 40:32Speaker 2: be more not that everything old is always good, but
- 40:35Speaker 2: you know, but but when you go back far enough.
- 40:38Speaker 2: It was more like that. Not in every single case,
- 40:41Speaker 2: but in most cases, you're you're building up to the
- 40:44Speaker 2: fight everybody really wants to see and they're ready for them.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Then that's the pay per view, you know, that's the
- 40:49Speaker 2: pay per view where you go far back enough. That
- 40:51Speaker 2: was the closed circuit fight. Yeah, just like everything that
- 40:56Speaker 2: they you know, everything they're throwing on there, it just
- 41:00Speaker 2: you know, it's just ridiculous.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Yeah. And then you know I mentioned the Wilder Wilder
- 41:04Speaker 1: stuff before he started doing pay per view, Well we
- 41:07Speaker 1: got Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fights on HBO before
- 41:11Speaker 1: they were even thinking about doing a pay per view here,
- 41:14Speaker 1: you know, and all that stuff built.
- 41:16Speaker 2: It up, you know. And I mean Tyson Tyson, Tyson
- 41:19Speaker 2: Fury even fought Steve Cuttingham on NB got dropped. But
- 41:26Speaker 2: that's when you get something unexpected, you know.
- 41:28Speaker 1: I mean it was a late afternoon NBC ship right
- 41:31Speaker 1: late after an NBC.
- 41:34Speaker 2: That was like the one we forget about that that's
- 41:36Speaker 2: more than ten years ago. And even like yeah once
- 41:38Speaker 2: like that was like more along the right idea though
- 41:42Speaker 2: at least yeah, like at least then, hey, I'm looking
- 41:46Speaker 2: back on it. I think that was the first time
- 41:48Speaker 2: I saw I think that was the first time I
- 41:50Speaker 2: saw Tyson Fury. Even though it wasn't, you know, an
- 41:53Speaker 2: impressive performance for him getting dropped like cutting hanm. But
- 41:57Speaker 2: there he was, you know, I mean, he had hair
- 42:01Speaker 2: that if I he had hair.
- 42:02Speaker 1: That if I I remember when I when people would show, uh,
- 42:06Speaker 1: send me cliffs of him and ask me my opinion
- 42:09Speaker 1: on him from the UK, and I just remember that
- 42:11Speaker 1: time where he punched himself and yeah, and I was like, well,
- 42:15Speaker 1: he's got some work to do, you know, we'll just
- 42:17Speaker 1: wait and see.
- 42:17Speaker 2: I got admit, you know that one I was wrong.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I thought he was really bad back then. I mean,
- 42:22Speaker 2: I that was one I'll consider myself wrong on.
- 42:25Speaker 1: I mean, and even in his significant win, you know,
- 42:29Speaker 1: with Vlad, it still was like, yeah, that's what I thought.
- 42:32Speaker 2: It was so bad even though vladd had been on
- 42:35Speaker 2: the long lineal run. I mean, it was one of
- 42:39Speaker 2: the worst heavyweight fights I'd ever seen. I really, I mean,
- 42:43Speaker 2: I know, I'm really in the minority on that, but
- 42:46Speaker 2: I just thought, you know, Fury, not me in the
- 42:48Speaker 2: champ he did so little. If he wouldn't have gotten
- 42:52Speaker 2: a decision, I wouldn't have complained. I mean, you know
- 42:54Speaker 2: there's people this day saying like he was dominant all this.
- 42:57Speaker 2: I mean he didn't. He didn't do anything there. There
- 43:00Speaker 2: there were rounds where there was like one guy landed
- 43:03Speaker 2: two punches and one guy landed three punches. I mean,
- 43:06Speaker 2: it was just it was a shame because it was
- 43:08Speaker 2: at that it wasn't a master highest level of importance,
- 43:11Speaker 2: but it was one of the worst heavyweight fights I've
- 43:13Speaker 2: ever seen.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I did hear people talk about them. They love
- 43:16Speaker 1: to bring out the masterpiece. You know, you're at the
- 43:19Speaker 1: master the master class. I don't think that'd be hanging
- 43:21Speaker 1: on the wall at the high level museums, you know.
- 43:24Speaker 1: And I don't know, I don't think it's gonna be
- 43:26Speaker 1: on exhibition.
- 43:27Speaker 2: And when they were going to have the rematch, which
- 43:30Speaker 2: never did happen, mm hmm. If I recall, I think,
- 43:36Speaker 2: you know, it was close to even money or maybe
- 43:38Speaker 2: Clitchko might have been a slight favorite. So the odds
- 43:41Speaker 2: makers didn't think anything particularly much of curious performance either,
- 43:45Speaker 2: because then when he got hurt, all of a sudden,
- 43:48Speaker 2: he got and then when it flipped to when he
- 43:51Speaker 2: was fighting Joshua, he was like he was an underdog
- 43:55Speaker 2: to Joshua, which ended up being a good fight, you know,
- 43:57Speaker 2: when he they dropped each other and then clutch end
- 44:00Speaker 2: up can stop. But Joshua ended up being a favorite.
- 44:03Speaker 2: So yeah, you know, like no, I'm just saying nobody
- 44:06Speaker 2: was even at that point. The people who had their
- 44:10Speaker 2: money on the line still weren't like real sold on
- 44:13Speaker 2: Fure even then. And then but.
- 44:17Speaker 1: All the talk and all the debate it was it
- 44:21Speaker 1: wasn't on paper view and we were able to access it,
- 44:23Speaker 1: you know, and you know HBO paywall. Sure, but there's
- 44:30Speaker 1: other entertainment of a wide variety.
- 44:34Speaker 2: On it, like forty million.
- 44:38Speaker 1: There's other entertainment on the right here in his own
- 44:42Speaker 1: it's just it's not that much. It's really not that much.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Now, there's nothing, and that's why his own just can't
- 44:47Speaker 2: catch on in the US. I mean, the right there,
- 44:49Speaker 2: there's just nothing else on there.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Because you know, NBC and other places already have the
- 44:55Speaker 1: rights to the best high levels football soccer in the UK,
- 45:00Speaker 1: in the world, so that's already taken too, you know.
- 45:03Speaker 1: So yeah, I don't know, But anyway, let's go in
- 45:07Speaker 1: the ring. What did you think of the fight? Of course,
- 45:10Speaker 1: what did you think of the stoppage all that stuff?
- 45:12Speaker 1: Do you think there might you know, should there be
- 45:14Speaker 1: a rematch? Does it deserve a rematch? This Parker deserved one.
- 45:17Speaker 2: What do you think? I mean, I thought it was
- 45:19Speaker 2: a good fight, So I meant, I don't have to
- 45:22Speaker 2: have a rematch. I don't think you need it. But
- 45:26Speaker 2: I'm not against a good fight, especially with heavyweights, you know,
- 45:29Speaker 2: having a rematch. I wouldn't be against this one at all.
- 45:32Speaker 2: But you know, there's been times I've disagreed with Howard
- 45:37Speaker 2: Foster and even joked myself about the British stoppage. I
- 45:41Speaker 2: did not feel that this was one of those. I mean,
- 45:46Speaker 2: this was one you and I have talked about it,
- 45:47Speaker 2: and you know, maybe I don't know what you thought
- 45:49Speaker 2: about it, Chris, but and I'm not saying you or
- 45:52Speaker 2: everybody else, but like we have talked about this before,
- 45:56Speaker 2: and like it seemed to me, you know, the night
- 45:58Speaker 2: of the fight, like there was people who believed in
- 46:01Speaker 2: his Parker resurgence, and then when it looked like Parker
- 46:05Speaker 2: had pulled ahead in a fight, you know, they were
- 46:08Speaker 2: all before the stoppage, like I bet on Parker, you know,
- 46:14Speaker 2: I thought Parker was gonna you know, I figured Parker
- 46:17Speaker 2: would end up taking this one. And then all of
- 46:18Speaker 2: a sudden mortally heard him, you know, the round before
- 46:21Speaker 2: they took him out, and it was over, and it
- 46:23Speaker 2: was like they were all the same. People were like, oh,
- 46:26Speaker 2: the outrage, the storage, this is absolutely they were cashing
- 46:30Speaker 2: their bedded tickets and all of a sudden Parker was out.
- 46:34Speaker 1: The accounts to see if anything popped up yet.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. They were just waiting for their balance to
- 46:41Speaker 2: increase it Now.
- 46:41Speaker 4: He only threw one punch in that flurry, and it
- 46:44Speaker 4: was a wild left hook that almost put him off balance.
- 46:48Speaker 4: So he wasn't technically speaking, and I've heard a lot
- 46:51Speaker 4: of people say he was about to throw, yeah, but
- 46:53Speaker 4: he wasn't throwing.
- 46:53Speaker 2: He wasn't throwing. I mean that's what I was arguing
- 46:56Speaker 2: with people, throw what He wasn't throwing anything, just teeing
- 47:00Speaker 2: off on him. Parker came in too heavy. You know,
- 47:03Speaker 2: he paid the price for it. He was totally I
- 47:06Speaker 2: mean he was. He was hurt and in bad trouble
- 47:09Speaker 2: and I don't think he had anything else left either. Yeah,
- 47:12Speaker 2: at that point, at two sixty two, and.
- 47:14Speaker 1: He was tired.
- 47:15Speaker 2: You could tell I was really I'm serious. I was
- 47:20Speaker 2: kind of like shocked at the outrage of the stoppage.
- 47:23Speaker 2: I mean, like, I really do think there was a
- 47:25Speaker 2: lot of people that were just pissed. They had money
- 47:28Speaker 2: on Parker and they believed in this resurgence and all
- 47:31Speaker 2: this stuff, which you know, Chris, because we do this regularly.
- 47:35Speaker 2: I've been consistent on that. I never bought the.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Park I even thought you've been a little harsh, but
- 47:40Speaker 1: you've been consistent, you know, I on.
- 47:44Speaker 2: That one, you know, because my reasoning was the same
- 47:46Speaker 2: as what happened. You know, you can look back on
- 47:48Speaker 2: our past shows, and I kept saying, study, this guy's
- 47:51Speaker 2: gonna fight somebody younger than him, who's prepared, and his
- 47:55Speaker 2: resurgence is going to go out the window. And I
- 47:58Speaker 2: gotta say too, because I've been consistent of never having
- 48:01Speaker 2: bought in. And I've said why on that too, Like
- 48:04Speaker 2: Andy Lee perplexes me for a guy who literally lived
- 48:09Speaker 2: with em Manual Steward and was trained by Emmanual Stewart,
- 48:14Speaker 2: literally lived with him. And I've said this consistently, like
- 48:19Speaker 2: I've never heard any threat of a Manual Steward advice
- 48:25Speaker 2: He always has them, like like these guys overly cautious
- 48:30Speaker 2: and he's always just all he ever tells him box
- 48:33Speaker 2: box box, And as some people said, yeah after the fight,
- 48:37Speaker 2: But I've said that about Lee, like when Parker was
- 48:39Speaker 2: fighting Chesora, you know, in those fights, I said it.
- 48:43Speaker 2: I mean even though I thought Parker won them, you know,
- 48:46Speaker 2: like you know, like Parker's he's he's too heavy already
- 48:52Speaker 2: coming in. You know, look look to get look to
- 48:56Speaker 2: get the guy out of there. You know, he'd hurt,
- 48:58Speaker 2: he'd hurt Wardly and and you know, look then then
- 49:02Speaker 2: so then he's late.
- 49:03Speaker 1: He was laying the better punches, I thought through the
- 49:05Speaker 1: fight right up until you.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Know, right he and he'd hurt him, and but then
- 49:10Speaker 2: you know he's gassed. He's at two sixty two. And
- 49:13Speaker 2: you know, Wardley's a guy who in his own weight
- 49:16Speaker 2: with absolutely no amateur background. I've said this about him too.
- 49:19Speaker 2: I have said it since you know, I first started
- 49:21Speaker 2: to kind of like him, and that's proven warranted. You know,
- 49:25Speaker 2: he he's shown some power, but he kind of does
- 49:28Speaker 2: a little bit of everything. Okay, yeah, you know, and
- 49:32Speaker 2: and in a way that was Parker on a more
- 49:34Speaker 2: trained level too, like you know, kind of doing a
- 49:36Speaker 2: little bit of everything, okay, but you know Wardley's Wardley
- 49:41Speaker 2: seemed better at hurting people, really heavyweights. You can always
- 49:45Speaker 2: hurt the opponent, but you know, yeah, Wardley's developed, you know,
- 49:50Speaker 2: even though it's lesser competition. It started to look like,
- 49:54Speaker 2: you know, he's he's banging even harder, even though he's
- 49:57Speaker 2: unorthodox and you know, he can box a eachin box
- 50:00Speaker 2: a bit.
- 50:01Speaker 1: He didn't reach as much in this fight either with
- 50:04Speaker 1: his punches. I noticed that he was missing some e early,
- 50:07Speaker 1: but he wasn't reaching where he lunched and get himself
- 50:09Speaker 1: in a horrible position, you know, right.
- 50:11Speaker 2: And he always seems to be, you know, it always
- 50:13Speaker 2: seems to be in shape, and you know he has
- 50:15Speaker 2: shown toughness in his fights, and you know it came through.
- 50:20Speaker 2: You know, I wasn't where I was going to say.
- 50:22Speaker 2: I thought Wardley was a pretty good style matchup for Parker.
- 50:26Speaker 2: But yet when I as the fight was getting closer
- 50:29Speaker 2: and I saw the two sixty two, and I did
- 50:33Speaker 2: just have a little bit because you know, like I said,
- 50:36Speaker 2: I wasn't ready to just say like, oh, I'm picking
- 50:38Speaker 2: Wardley straight out for a win. But then I saw
- 50:41Speaker 2: like Parker minus four hundred and I'm you know Wardley
- 50:44Speaker 2: by ko was was you know you got good money,
- 50:47Speaker 2: and just yeah, I got plus money, and I'm like that.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Then when Parker came in at the two sixty two,
- 50:52Speaker 2: I'm like, the value play's got to be on Wardley
- 50:56Speaker 2: here at this point. And that's almost like to me
- 50:59Speaker 2: what played out in the like. But I didn't on
- 51:02Speaker 2: this one. I didn't see I didn't see the outrage
- 51:05Speaker 2: over the stoppage on this one. On this one, I didn't.
- 51:07Speaker 2: And you know there's plenty of UK yeah stop it
- 51:11Speaker 2: just Howard Foster, But I didn't. I didn't think his
- 51:15Speaker 2: actions were unreasonable at all in this one. I mean
- 51:18Speaker 2: Parker was not thrown. He was gassed, and he was hurt,
- 51:22Speaker 2: and he was hurt, and Wardly was just teeing off
- 51:24Speaker 2: on him with unanswered punches. I mean there was nothing
- 51:27Speaker 2: coming back.
- 51:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I yeah. The only like I said, it was
- 51:31Speaker 1: like he went from rope to rope and then you
- 51:34Speaker 1: know he was on the last one for a while,
- 51:35Speaker 1: but before he came from the other rope, you know,
- 51:38Speaker 1: which is not a good sign, and just covering up
- 51:42Speaker 1: he Like I said, the only punch he threw was
- 51:44Speaker 1: a wild one that threw him off balance, So that's
- 51:48Speaker 1: not a good sign. Did I think he still had
- 51:53Speaker 1: his wits about him enough to survive at that moment? Yes,
- 51:57Speaker 1: But then again another clean upper cut was around because
- 52:00Speaker 1: that was the best punch. That he didn't land many
- 52:02Speaker 1: of them, but when he did, they counted.
- 52:04Speaker 2: You know, that was surprising to me. That was surprising
- 52:07Speaker 2: to me because that's a harder for somebody like Wardley,
- 52:11Speaker 2: who you know, he's not he doesn't have the pedigree
- 52:14Speaker 2: or anything. I mean, you know, throwing a good upburku,
- 52:17Speaker 2: that's a tougher you know, that's a tougher shot to throw.
- 52:20Speaker 1: And he stuck him in there a couple of times,
- 52:21Speaker 1: and he was hurting him with him. It was at
- 52:23Speaker 1: the prime time, So I did think it was a
- 52:26Speaker 1: tad early. But I also didn't have this outrage over
- 52:30Speaker 1: it because one, like you said, you gotta know the setting.
- 52:34Speaker 1: We're not in the States or Mexico. We are in
- 52:36Speaker 1: the UK, and so I've seen way worse stoppages than
- 52:41Speaker 1: that here even but in the UK especially, and a
- 52:45Speaker 1: lot of people were talking about you would have liked
- 52:48Speaker 1: to see the ref saying like they do here. Hey
- 52:51Speaker 1: you gotta throw back, you gotta throw back. And would
- 52:53Speaker 1: that have uh inspired him a little bit? Yeah, maybe,
- 52:56Speaker 1: but he knows he's gotta throw back. I don't.
- 52:59Speaker 2: I don't. I mean, I like how they do that.
- 53:01Speaker 1: If you're that troubled, taking knee then and get your together,
- 53:05Speaker 1: you know, right.
- 53:06Speaker 2: But but again I'm gonna I'm gonna make the argument
- 53:09Speaker 2: he's not together, so he's not like I see people,
- 53:13Speaker 2: you know, they were getting real elaborate, take a big
- 53:16Speaker 2: He's concussed, he's about out. That's why you know, he's
- 53:20Speaker 2: not running through this mental process. He's like, hey, I'm
- 53:24Speaker 2: gonna take it. I'm in just enough trouble now how
- 53:26Speaker 2: I'm feeling, you know. I mean, the dude's out, you know,
- 53:30Speaker 2: he's on his way out. That's that's That's why I
- 53:32Speaker 2: would argue there too, you know.
- 53:34Speaker 1: And he was hurt, you know, and there was plenty
- 53:36Speaker 1: of time to finish the fight, you know, in the
- 53:39Speaker 1: round and all that, so I didn't. It's not that
- 53:42Speaker 1: I thought he'd make it out for sure, anything like that.
- 53:47Speaker 1: And when i'm if I'm nit picking, then I know
- 53:50Speaker 1: it wasn't a horrible stoppage because if I'm nitpicking saying, well,
- 53:54Speaker 1: he could have just let him go a little longer. Yeah,
- 53:57Speaker 1: Wardley could have got a highlight, real knockout. But in
- 54:00Speaker 1: the end, you know, I didn't. I didn't shock it
- 54:03Speaker 1: up as a horrible stoppage either.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I did put it on X afterward. To me,
- 54:08Speaker 2: the way I would break it down, like the only
- 54:10Speaker 2: thing I could give the people who thought it was
- 54:13Speaker 2: early type of thing, like, and I've been watching boxing
- 54:17Speaker 2: long enough that I know kind of when you started
- 54:21Speaker 2: seeing the shifts, Like if this was like pre nineteen
- 54:25Speaker 2: eighty two, say yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean I'd be saying, no,
- 54:30Speaker 2: you know, that's an outway that was. But we're talking
- 54:33Speaker 2: forty five years, and I'm not exaggerating the way I
- 54:36Speaker 2: look at it. Like if this was nineteen eighty two,
- 54:38Speaker 2: nineteen eighty right, and then Foster stopped it at that point,
- 54:43Speaker 2: you know, I'd be yelling with everybody else, oh that
- 54:45Speaker 2: was a good fight. But to me, it goes back
- 54:48Speaker 2: that far, Like I felt like this was a stoppage
- 54:51Speaker 2: To me, that was consistent with everything I've seen for
- 54:55Speaker 2: the last forty five.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Yeh yeah, and that was a different time. It was
- 54:58Speaker 1: a different time, including like, you know, we never heard
- 55:02Speaker 1: of a word or the word mental health, right exactly,
- 55:07Speaker 1: verbally abusive and that's key. The only way you were
- 55:10Speaker 1: abusive is if you got you know, if someone touched
- 55:14Speaker 1: you improperly or they beat you. That was what improper
- 55:18Speaker 1: parenting was. And it kind of matters what the beating
- 55:21Speaker 1: was for, too, right, you know, because.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Exactly it matters what sensibilities were at the time, exactly,
- 55:28Speaker 2: And that's what I am saying, Like, what's you know,
- 55:30Speaker 2: if we're talking nineteen eighty nineteen eighty two sensibilities. Yeah,
- 55:34Speaker 2: I might have objected to the stoppage too, but but
- 55:37Speaker 2: to me, it's like I didn't feel like this was
- 55:39Speaker 2: inconsistent with anything I've seen for decades.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and especially in the UK, you can point to
- 55:47Speaker 1: so many of them that are so much more arguable
- 55:51Speaker 1: and debatable, right that. Yeah, in the end, I was
- 55:55Speaker 1: okay with it, and like I said, I was trying
- 55:57Speaker 1: to give examples of what people were saying. But you
- 56:01Speaker 1: can also say, well, he should have known, you don't.
- 56:04Speaker 1: You don't rely on the ref to tell you to
- 56:06Speaker 1: throw punches. You know you're supposed to throw, so you
- 56:10Speaker 1: know that it's a. It's it's very common to know
- 56:14Speaker 1: if you sit on a rope long enough, you don't
- 56:16Speaker 1: return a shot, and the only punch you throw you
- 56:18Speaker 1: almost throw yourself off balance. They're gonna stop it soon.
- 56:22Speaker 1: So I don't discredit the stoppage, you know, Uh, I
- 56:27Speaker 1: don't think it's a It was a bad stoppage, like
- 56:29Speaker 1: people said. I And we've seen this trend. We've talked
- 56:31Speaker 1: about it for years now. Of the betting, you know,
- 56:35Speaker 1: and beyond the prediction, beyond you know, predictions are one thing.
- 56:40Speaker 1: You want to get it right. You have an ego, sure,
- 56:43Speaker 1: but I mean when you're talking about money, then you
- 56:45Speaker 1: start to mess with people, you know, right.
- 56:48Speaker 2: It's people's then there's money on the right. When there's
- 56:50Speaker 2: money on the line, then then you're the bias is intensifying.
- 56:55Speaker 2: It's already there, and then it's then it's intensifying. Because
- 56:59Speaker 2: that's why.
- 57:01Speaker 1: I put in amount that I can enjoy the fight
- 57:04Speaker 1: no matter what the outcome is, right, I put the
- 57:07Speaker 1: now if it's closed and you're like, oh, dude, he
- 57:09Speaker 1: almost got him, Yeah, of course I'm going to react
- 57:11Speaker 1: a little bit. You know, it was that close, you know,
- 57:13Speaker 1: I mean, I had you know in the NBA, I
- 57:18Speaker 1: had a Halliburton for the MVP. In game seven, he
- 57:20Speaker 1: got hurt first three shots. You know, if they win
- 57:24Speaker 1: game seven, he's gonna win the MVP. It was a
- 57:26Speaker 1: plus ninety ten. Yeah, I was a little excited, but
- 57:29Speaker 1: I still enjoyed the game.
- 57:30Speaker 2: You know, it is what it is that that's part
- 57:32Speaker 2: of the betting well, because you knew about the processes
- 57:36Speaker 2: which the real top notch betters and risk analysts and
- 57:41Speaker 2: things like that, and I love reading that stuff. I mean,
- 57:44Speaker 2: in the modern era, that's what they focus on IM
- 57:46Speaker 2: Like you you couldn't really fault your decision on Halliburt
- 57:52Speaker 2: the v you can now. But then here's where it
- 57:55Speaker 2: then kind of divide, like like then you say, like, well,
- 57:59Speaker 2: the only thing I don't know when you place the bet,
- 58:02Speaker 2: but the only thing in the process maybe you'd look
- 58:05Speaker 2: at is like, we didn't know he had a calf
- 58:07Speaker 2: injury going into seven. Now you didn't know he's going
- 58:11Speaker 2: to tear his achilles. Yeah, but I made it after
- 58:14Speaker 2: game one. That's what I was just gonna say. So
- 58:16Speaker 2: with your processes, you know, the expert would say, you
- 58:20Speaker 2: don't even give that a second thought or exactly, you
- 58:24Speaker 2: do it just like what was my thinking? He would
- 58:26Speaker 2: have been the MVP. Nobody could have foreseen he was
- 58:29Speaker 2: going to tear his achilles in game seven and he
- 58:32Speaker 2: would have been the MVP. So my process was actually
- 58:36Speaker 2: correct exactly.
- 58:37Speaker 1: And then sometimes you hedge things and people when I
- 58:41Speaker 1: say this stuff, people go, what what are you making
- 58:44Speaker 1: multiple bets? It's like, well, if you win two out
- 58:46Speaker 1: of the three, you win money. You know. In this one,
- 58:49Speaker 1: there was no way I couldn't make money in my
- 58:52Speaker 1: mind because I had a plus one ninety two on
- 58:54Speaker 1: Parker by decision and a plus four to ten on knockout,
- 58:58Speaker 1: you know from Wardley. So to me, I felt pretty
- 59:01Speaker 1: good and I had the over so now that when
- 59:04Speaker 1: I was sweating, but overall, like it seemed like a
- 59:09Speaker 1: I felt pretty good going into it that I'd make
- 59:11Speaker 1: money on it, you know, just because the odds were
- 59:14Speaker 1: just there to be had, and like you said, once
- 59:16Speaker 1: the weight came through the knockout, Wardley probably wasn't going
- 59:20Speaker 1: to win that by a decision, you know, on average,
- 59:23Speaker 1: That's what it felt like. But I did think the
- 59:25Speaker 1: scorecards were a little long far the two of them.
- 59:29Speaker 1: It was a little closer I did too.
- 59:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I did too, you know, a little far, but
- 59:34Speaker 2: you know, yeah, Parker, yeah, Parker had said, seemed to
- 59:39Speaker 2: pull ahead. But you know, it's interesting about the beat
- 59:43Speaker 2: and the odds. I had seen actual data on this
- 59:46Speaker 2: a couple of days ago that I'd never seen before.
- 59:50Speaker 2: You always kind of think it, and I was like,
- 59:52Speaker 2: is is it real? Like people always think, Well, apparently
- 59:54Speaker 2: it's kind of real. Like, for example, the easiest to
- 59:57Speaker 2: look at it is with football, if like and this, well,
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: this is what just happened with the Ravens last week,
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: so I'd have to look I have to look at
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: the exact breakdown, but it's something like this, like so
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: you know what the line shift with the Ravens, Like Jackson,
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: they thought he was going to play, then when he
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: wasn't going to play, he shifted like four points. You know.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: Now everybody's going to say, oh, I knew all that
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: and stuff, but the actual data does show it, like
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: it's even with like a point or two. So like
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: if you were to get your bet down, you know,
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: let's say you're thinking, I think Jackson might not play,
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: and when that line opens up, you know, they everybody's
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: talking and he's playing and the sixth and half. You know,
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: you take the Bears, take the Bears with the six
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: and a half, and then it shifts and you get
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: like that extra four. It's something like when when you
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: get when you get the extra point, when you hit
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: it that way, like you're you're winning percentage, which we
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: know when anybody puts money down, this is that huge.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: You know, it's like goes from like fifty percent to
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: like sixty percent.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: Like when you when you nail it, when you get
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: the one day on the early line, you get it right,
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: you get like the extra point.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: Right yep. So like Sunday college football lines where you're guessing,
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: but you you gotta hunch. You can always. You know
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: what's funny is when you you know you made a
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: good bet when they want to buy it.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Back from you, right right, That's basically what that is.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: Right if the if they want to just come right
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: close to your bet money or like five ten dollars over,
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: then you know that's a good bet.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: I'm not that's exactly right, because they know those numbers
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: and they're saying this, this person got me.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: And then the futures can be like that throughout the season.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: They take them away for like four weeks, all of
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: a sudden that pop up, Hey, you know what, I've
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: changed my mind? Can I have my money back? You know,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: I'll give you your money back? How about that?
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: We just call it even you know, so, I guess
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: the idea is kind of even though you don't don't
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: want this to happen, is if you can get good
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: enough and hitting it where they want to cut you
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: off or limiting. Yeah, yah, exactly, you keep because like
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: you said, you keep hitting it and then they want
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: to buy you keep said, they want to buy back
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: your bet, and.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's funny, especially futures. It's like a few weeks ago,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: I bet it was like a plus one sixty eight
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: for Georgia Tech to go at the playoffs, and then
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: they took it away. They took it off the you
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: know just basically you can't you can't doing with it.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: And then this week, all of a sudden it pops
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: up saying, hey, you know what, you know that conversation
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: we had, right, how about I'll give you six more
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: dollars than your bet? Is that cool? You can just
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: get your money back, you know, So it's it's funny.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: But then then there's times where it's the opposite, where
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: you're like, man, I should have taken that because two
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: weeks later, yeah they got me. Now now they got me.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: You know. So it is kind of funny.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: Trying not to do that. And that's where the gambling
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: scandal comes in, because that's where the information comes in.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: If somehow you can get the information before the line,
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: before the line shifts, then gets out there, Yeah you're
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: market and that's how they were trying to fix They
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: were trying to fix it on the props you know.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: Exactly, Well, we don't WI.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's it's unrelated, but then again, it's related
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: to what we're talking about. I just gave you might
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: have saul it before we got on to it. I
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: hadn't seen this update, but I guess I guess Roagier.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: I couldn't figure it out until I saw this help.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: I guess Rogier owed the I r s eight billion,
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: eight billion.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: That'll be a reason that'll get you.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: That explained, That explained for you know, I could quite
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: figure it out, like okay that you know, it's.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: Gonna be really interesting to see how that thing. It's
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: gonna be really interesting.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Well, yeah, because the poker thing doesn't kind of doesn't
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: make sense to me. But yeah, yeah, I thought, now
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: doing this stuff because we do it and we're talking
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: about it, obviously we do it the prob I totally
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: get the prop bet to except for like, why would
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: Rogier be doing it? But then the I R s
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: oh the ir Yeah, okay, that helps. That helps a
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: little bit. Like the Chauncey Billiot bullups of the poker
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: thing is a head.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Scratch that one's like, wait, what so so who organized it?
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Did they? Did?
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: They bring it to him?
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: Who?
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: And then they talk about the mafias involved.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: I'm from Jersey and we were all talking.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Who organized this whole.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: I just went from Jersey to West Virginia today and
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: back at Jersey we were all like, even a Jersey
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: were like, these guys are they're clay, but these guys
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: still exist. We don't think that. We didn't think they
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: existed for thirty years. To bring up the five families,
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: you know, right, I mean the the five families who
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: you know, like, I mean that even even you know
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: in Jersey, New York people are like that that hasn't
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: existed for thirty years.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Right, I thought that they were in the garbage pickup business.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: You know, that's what I thought they were in.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: You know, I got to see what that that's what
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: a lawyer, I got to see what the evidence on
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: that billups thing. I got to see what the end
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: me too. I think that's kind of interesting, the props thing. Yeah,
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: the thing or it makes sense because it easy to do,
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: be easy to do on the prop best.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Or like that coach the former player who uh
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: who like may have just randomly said, hey, Lebron, how
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: you feeling like as a friend and he's like, ah, man,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: my knee is messed up. Dude, I got arrested for
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: like two weeks just talking to him as a friend.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: You know, could he have parlayed that into well he's
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: not playing you know, sure, you know I can see
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: that maybe.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: But then that does lead to what we're talking about too,
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: is I'll throw it in because it's timely and it
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: is a factor. That's like, you know, I could see
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: the problem already, like with these like Jake Paul Gervonte
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: Davis thing, because there's gonna be there's gonna be lines.
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: They're claiming that edition shouldn't have a line, and that's
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: you know, I mean saying, yeah, man, that's why we
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: need federal laws used to condition whatever.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: But you know, like people just throw it out there.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: But now I think it's real. I mean, you're this
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: to me, I mean, you're you're taking your initial steps
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: to like boxing, turn it into like pro wrestling, right, yeah, right,
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: I mean I suppose it'd be sad, but there you
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: wouldn't have the physical damage. I suppose it could turn
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: I mean, if if they're not really who's gonna win,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: I suppose it could turn into pro wrestling as it evolves.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: I mean, like as it evolves over the decades. But
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: you know, but this to me is kind of like that.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: So you know, but then then you know they're going
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: to find a way to have action, Like you know,
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: they're they're not gonna want there to not be action.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: Yeah, because even like who lands the first punch or whatever, like,
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: there's gonna be even if it's an exhibition, there's still
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: gonna be punches thrown, you know, So they're just not
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: supposed to be mean when they do it. I guess.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's it's going to cause there's definitely potential
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: for problems.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that's for sure. I mean we've even seen like
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: people get mad at like the Mayweather pacyo. You know,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: remember when they tried to sue for that I didn't
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: get my money's worth. It's like, yeah, to come on, man,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: like you know, welcome to boxing, you know what I mean, Like, yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: now they're talking about a rematch, and that would be
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: something that would have the same kind of potential.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: They're so old. They're so old. Even though Patia just
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: you know, held his own in a real fight, still
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: the bad the potential for bad things is just is
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: just still there.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: And just if you think back, of course they're nowhere
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: near their level of popular they were ten years ago.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: But when you look at that night and how much
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: revenue and how much attention that got for a decade
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: prior to that, even before they fought like there is
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: gonna be like you said, the interest and that alls
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: that does is alls it needs to be is a
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: very small percentage of people that do something, and you know,
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: it can get it can get sideways in a hurry.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: So yeah, it does look like that might happen. And
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: maybe on Netflix I could see, but I don't know.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: The Netflix seems to be okay with that kind of Yeah, yeah,
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: I mean whatever.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: They're judging by their last quarter, they're doing damn good.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: You know, they're not throwing away their money, you know what.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: That's whatever they're doing, they're not throwing away their money.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: They're putting it feel like that at times, but they've
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: proven real numbers that we can actually, you know, ratings
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: are not whatever. The stream is. The revenue at the
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: end of the day and how they do quarterly is
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: and yearly is is really what matters. So they're doing it.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: They're doing it big. I'm actually.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: So Bwatzi Parker is on his own. It's not paid view, No,
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: it's ony uh you know payd view. Uh. MICHAELA. Myers
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: fighting on Thursday on like three different two boo, and
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: you know, a couple of different top ranks out there
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: saying this is how you sign up for this app
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: So much for so much for top ranks, got another
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: deal all ready to go.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: Yeah, they're just laying in the cut.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Much yet that that ended up being even worse than expected.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: I mean it's pretty much here we are in November.
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: You know, they've got nothing.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: We haven't even and Bob usually will take plenty of interviews,
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: and you know, he's been pretty hush hush, and we've
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: seen him support their fighters on other cards and all that.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: So you know, you'd hope with some of the talent
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: they have and some of the people that work for
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: the company that have talent and been in the business
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: a long time, you'd hope, you know, it'd be nice
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: sit them in PBC could get a deal together and
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Golden Boy or you know that type of thing. But
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: until we see it, you know, it's it's just talk,
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: Yeah, No, that's I mean, you know, that's why on
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: that issue, like when Tom Brown is you know, which
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: is basically you know, Al Hayman's promoter. I mean, he's
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: in favor of the UBO concept. With the Ali revision.
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: You know, I'm curious it won't be the same as
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: twenty fifteen. Too much has happened. But that's another thing
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: that I'm interested in, Like I'd like to see how
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: PBC try, you know, even though it's ten years after
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: the fact that with the UBO concept, that they could
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: do it kind of along the lines that they wanted
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: to do it back in twenty fifteen and they were
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: getting all that resistance. And why I say that with
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: top rank is who knows. If top rank is not
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: going to do their own maybe, like you said, maybe
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: they could have some Maybe they could have some of
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: their guys you know, fighting, yeah, fighting in it or something.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: Who knows. I mean, they're gonna have to do something.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: They're gonna do something. And I did want to catch
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: up with that stuff. Whether someone thinks it was wrong
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: for the California State Athletic Commission to UH to recommend
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: it or not, the only thing I will say is
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: when I saw that they were they they postponed it
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: to December, then they moved it up out of nowhere.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: When I saw they released the Paker paperwork the night before,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: I did think that was a rubber stamp because it
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: was like, okay, dude, what I know, it's a formality,
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: you have to go through this process legally. But that
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: was a little weak because it's like, hold on, so
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: you're gonna have this. They got their ducks in a
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: row for who called in first and UH, but they
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: they it was a rubber stamp because and I knew
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: it was gonna be that way, But the way they
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: did it was they really the paperwork was released the
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: night before of the meeting, you know, and I was like, okay, dude,
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: well I'm not calling it that because I already know
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: what's gonna happen. And we both said that we believe
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: that this whole thing is going to pass as long
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: as they get it by midterms. Blah blah blah. But
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: we do have a little more more more information on
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: the zoofa deal and even some some contract information. So
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: it's twelve cards twelve cards, uh in one year. Most
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: of it is just gonna be on paramount. They did say,
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: with the potential of a select few maybe landing on CBS,
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: but would that be a big build up and then
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: they put the the main event or the tournament style
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: contender style thing on CBS. We have to see. They
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: also talked about, and this is something we talked about,
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: that they're targeting anywhere from two to three to four
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: hundred fighters, you know, So that goes along with you know,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: because we always asked what what the rankings was gonna
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: be and if they're gonna use ring rankings and they're
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: literally using the rankings to pay people, their own rankings
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: to pay people, right and where they're at so you know,
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: it looks like it's going to be bigger than even
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: I may have thought. But if you have twelve cards,
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: let's say you have you know, eight fights on one card,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: that's sixteen fighters. If you have ten, that's twenty. If
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: they're gonna sign four hundred fighters, I think they'd need
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: more than just once a month. But you never know
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: because that, you know, are they going to be five
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: six hour strains? We don't know the definition of it.
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: But what are your thoughts on you know, they talked
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: about the new design on the ring. You know, they
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: also talked about they also mentioned a strong US presence
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: is needed in boxing. You know, that made sense to us.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: Everyone talked about global growth. It's like cool as long
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: as you keep the main markets involved, which is just business.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: One on one. They talked about the possible for rule changes,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: but Dana White was pretty like, I'm open to it,
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: but I'd have to see.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: But what are your thoughts? You know?
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: He talked about the USA Tuesday Night Fight. Vibe talked
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: about a variety of things.
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: That Vibe is needs to be back and is missing
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: when people talk about, well, some of these other smaller promotions,
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: you know, like ring City tried Pro Box, right, you
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: know pro box like they've had some good fights, but
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: not enough. I mean, like you need you need that
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: USA Tuesday Night fights where you got enough good fights
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: and fighters people want to see consistently, where it's not
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: a stretch.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: One thing I've been thinking about this gets closer to
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: looking like it might happen that I think could positively
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: fill avoid they're starting to talk about that more now.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: Is something I thought about before. That One thing that
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: I actually liked the potential of is like, if you know,
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: Dana White his companies are going to have you know,
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: MMA with UFC, WWE and then boxing, like that could
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: be a good thing because you know, boxing is not
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: like it's not organized like we say. You know, there's
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: no credible central authority, and it doesn't put it in
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: that good of a position to compete, like as we
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: look in the US. You know, I don't even feel
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: like it's that MMA got that popular or anything like
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: I keep saying. It's. My theory is just they took
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: a giant chunk out of the niche that boxing had
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: before that. So I guess what I kind of like
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: the potential of is if you just have that one
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: niche that's like we'll call it combat sports if at
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: least you can have a coordinated marketing effort or like
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: like let's just say, you know, and it's not saying
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: it has to be Dana White, but because it's easy
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: to example right now, like, well, then White could coordinate
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: like when there's going to be a boxing card and
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: when there's going to be an m M A card.
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: So you know that that kind of a thing cross
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: market cross promotional marketing to kind of you know, have
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: at least some overlap more more overlap with the fan
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: bases and things like that.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: One thing. I mean, I've had.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: Times where that's a good call with main event against
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: main events, sometimes in the same city, you know.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: Yeah, And like I've had times which frankly I couldn't
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: keep up with. Like there's been times in my life
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: where I followed like all MMn and all boxing and
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: like as it was kind of good that more stuff
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: got on TV, but then it got like you can't,
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: you just can't do it, Like it's too much, Like
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: You've got to have a life outside of this stuff.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: So like what I'm saying is like that way maybe
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: you know, maybe a little bit more coordinated. Like I'm
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: just saying some things that might work. I mean, look,
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: you're gonna have now UFC end this day of white
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: zoofa boxing on paramount right with the potential for CBS.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: So the potential for coordination of all that is right there.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: If it were in.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Marketing on a certain night on a big cooperative marketing
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: happened in two weeks, you know, right, cross marketing and
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: all that.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: That's the kind of stuff like I feel like we
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: we you know, we need like some some central authority,
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: or if it's not central, at least just the promotion,
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: even if they're doing their own ranking is just you know,
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: I'll keep saying it. You know, the alphabets have no
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: place in anything. I mean, you know, they're a detriment
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: to boxing. How to help some of the people that
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: don't like what UFC does, and I don't like the
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: percentage of revenue that the fighters get either, But they
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: then confuse it with justifying the alphabets and boxing. I mean,
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: the boxer's making money has got nothing to do with
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: the alphabets and boxing. I mean, you know, the boxers
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: would then make it anyway, and the alphabets are just
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: taking a sanctioning fee, which you know, they don't like
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: to talk about that. Like you said, they say, oh,
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: well that's less than you know, they're still making more
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: than if they were underway. Yeah, I agree, I agree
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: with that, but again that that doesn't justify that. The
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: alphabet bandit's getting money for doing nothing and just to
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: pay themselves. And they're all in with the promoters anyway.
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: I mean, we know top rank was always going to
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: have a w B o bell. I mean, Hearn's always
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: doing these w B a thing. So come on, you know,
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: come on, we know, we know just to be ranked
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: it costs money, right, It's costs money and all kinds
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: of undeserving fighters how to hide rankings, you know, outrageously
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: ranked compared to let's say, like the UFC's own rankings.
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: So what's going on now doesn't work. You know, I
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: want the boxers to get more of a percentage of
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: revenue than they're getting in the UFC. I'll advocate for
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: that all day too.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: But yeah, that's easy.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: But the current boxing system's not working. The sport's going
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: to be nothing if and it's already headed that way
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: in the US. If something doesn't change, so I got
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: I gotta have something different, like I gotta have something change,
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: So yeah, well he did say he did. It did
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: sound like he's going to operate like the UFC and
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: not co promote with people. He has bought out some
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: lesser valued fighters from like veto from top rank. You know,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: we've heard some of that. He also obviously just like
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: you know, he wants to get rid of the management
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: because you know, and here's some specific details from an
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: alleged I didn't read it. I haven't read the article,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: or not the article, but the actual you know, paperwork,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: the contract, but allegedly that you do have to sign
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: a four year deal with an LLC that'll take fifteen percent.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: Then you sign a three fight deal or a three
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: year deal with them. And I gave I gave examples
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: of how when you sign with certain companies nowadays, this
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: has been for quite a while, if they get you
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: to if they guide you, which a lot of times
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: they do guide you there. You know, they guide you
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: to the championship and you win it. It's an automatic extension, right,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: but you do you know that's before you get the championship,
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: you get it, you earned it, then you get an extension.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: They did. They did invest in you, and they got
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: you there, and you we know plenty of great fighters
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: have not been guided there because they signed with the
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: wrong people, right, So I don't think that's the craziest thing.
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: Now if in fact this is correct, allegedly, when you're
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: done with your three fight deal, John, if you have
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: a belt, you owe them three fights. Now, I haven't
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: seen the contracts, so I don't know if that's rinse
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: and repeat. Is it three fights? Okay? At the end
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: of three you still got about yo us three more,
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: YO three more. So some of that's a little shaky,
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: and I'd like most these guys have representation of some form.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: So you're in a lot of people said, well, you
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: had to sign, you know, to al fifteen percent, okay,
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: But you didn't have to sign to the promoter. You
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: paid a fee to the promoter, depending on on the
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: PBC did sometimes you did, sometimes you acted like a
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: promoter as a fighter. But Fury Bud Boots, Ryan Garcia, Berlanga, Munkiya,
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: a lot of fighters didn't have to sign a fifteen
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: percent management deal that actually is according to this lasts
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: longer than your promoter deal. So to me, that sets
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: a weird precedent. I'll say that. But we do see
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: plenty of you know, weird shit in contracts too. In
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: that Golden Boy lawsuit with the PBC, the judge even said, dude,
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: we found more wrong shit in your contract, and they
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: did the same thing they had to. They had to
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: basically approve your management, which is much like we gotta
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: know if you're gonna sign with the AL That's basically
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: what's that's saying.
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't like it. I don't like that part
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: of it because but to me, I don't like it.
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: One of the reasons I don't like it is because
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: it takes, to me, it incorporates part of the problem
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: you already have with boxing, which I feel like it
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: doesn't get which I feel like doesn't get talked enough
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: in boxing, is how how how are these guys outside
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: of Canalo Fury, you know, wild Er, Joshua in a way,
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: but then basically everybody else, even fighters that have gotten
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: some good paydays, you know, but you got man, you
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: got management taking percentage, promoters, trainer, you got to pay
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: your own trainers, you got to pay your own training fees.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: It sounds like a sanctioning fee to me, long term
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: contract with that you can't That's another thing, John, Can
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: you drop the belt? Then? Can you drop it and
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: leave the company? No, you're champion, so therefore you give
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: us three more? Like what the fuck is that they're
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: they're making it so you don't leave with their belt obviously,
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: I kind of like to see it where you have
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: that central type, which would be more like the other
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: pro sports leagues. I'd like it to be the concept
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: of kind of these organizations we're talking about the UBOs,
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: but get rid of the alphabets. But the fighters are
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: getting like fifty percent revenue sharing. We're not worried about like,
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: you know, all these managers and promoter. Yeah, then we
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: can see what other promoter work. Then we can really
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: see what people are actually worth. Right, It's just kind
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: of like the equivalent of like that's the league, but
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: then the revenue split like fifty to fifty between the
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: fighter or whatever, you know, right, something like that exact number,
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: and then cut out all this, you know, cutting out
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: all this all these other people getting percentages and you know, right,
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: sanctioning fees and all this kind of nonsense. I mean,
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: I'd like to see something something more like that.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: You know, it does sound like more run of the
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: mill up boxing is gonna trick you, you know, and
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: even the people though they're doing it like they're they're
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: kind of like guessing.
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: And I think they've broken it down pretty good. But
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: even with the people that have done some articles breaking
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: it down pretty good many, but there's been one or
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: two they still don't know. And I've been saying this
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: for years. They still don't know what the promoters and
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: boxing are making. They're like, we estimate, you know, that
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: that the boxers are getting you know, this much percentage
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: and the promoters are getting this compared to USC, but
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: nobody really knows. In boxing they still don't know, like
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: you know, top rank and match troom and you know,
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: all the promoters are.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: Taking, at least in the UK, they do have to
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: post where they're at every year. I will say that
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: they have some form of breakdown like that, you know, Yeah,
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: I mean you can learn a lot about Mattrium's finances.
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: I'll say that, yeah, I mean yeah, I mean that
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: would that would that would help us a lot evaluate
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: this in boxing, but we don't get that in boxing,
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: like We're still not saying like, oh, this is how
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: much top rank pulled out of this fight themselves, or
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: this is how much harm pull pulled out. You know,
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: it's we speculate or we don't even know.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it takes like a lawsuit.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: Discoveries as a lawyer, and I'll tell you now, because
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: that's become a bigger and bigger problem in the profession.
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: Then there'll be so many protective orders in the lawsuit.
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: Well we can't and I run into that what I
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: litigate all the time. Now I can't tell you from
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: the discovery, but there's a protective order where I can't
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: tell you, and my client can't tell you. Only people
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: in the court that here, right, I mean not even
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: the public can look in the court.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: There's talk about reform with that. That's become a huge
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: problem in the profession. Yeah, they always say, oh, we
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: can't have this information, shouldn't get now, you know, like
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: it would be you know, you're in the suit against
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: one of the promoters and they're like, oh, we need
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: to protective order. We can't have that yet now. So yeah,
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: it does get the lawyers, It gets in their head.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: They get to know, but then they can't say either.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: So yeah, it just keeps going on and on and on, right,
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: you know, as I'm doing some research at the Minnesota
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: History Society for a future true crime podcast about the
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: Prohibition time here and just reading through all these FBI
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: documents and seeing what this writer, this investigator had to
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: go through just to get like the basic stuff, you know,
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: and redacted. And you know, this person's been dead ninety
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: years and this has to do with the government and corruption.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: So yeah, we should know that ninety years later you're
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: protecting this person. But even to your point, you know,
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: they get protection ninety years later.
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: You know. I mean the courts are meant to be public.
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: I mean that's yeah, that's that's the way the American
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: system is supposed to work.
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: Right, Like, prove it to us then there wasn't collusion there,
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: you know, show us that, then we'll be like okay,
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: you know. So yeah, another thing is take out, like
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: the pay. I'm not so stuck on the pay because
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: people in the top ten if we just go off ring,
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: because that's what they said they're gonna use, which I'm
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: still wondering their top ten, how can you do their
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: top ten in the ring? Top ten. If you don't
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: have all the top ten in the ring, you know
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: that's gonna be funky. And then does it get to
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: their rankings? You know, for action fighters get ranked higher,
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: and people that will be disciplined and win most of
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: the fights. Are they going to take fifteen fights to
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: get someplace like in the UFC did back in the
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: day with like Evans and stuff like that. Who knows.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: But the rankings are fucked up anyway in the sanctioning belts.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: But you know the pay from like four, five and
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: six can be double and that I had a little
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: issue with six to ten because you know, ranking four,
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: five and six, six could be the best fighter out
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: of all those. Oh sure they're gonna get half the money.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: Like that was a little funky, but I expected that.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: So yeah, it's interesting and ultimately something that we always
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: talk about on the show. You got to see how
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: it plays out too. You can't get too stuck in
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: what we think is gonna happen.
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you know a lot of these things have
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: been attempted and they haven't They haven't worked. I do
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: think there is an opening I've thought for a while
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: for like a developmental type concept to work if the guy,
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: if the fighters at least have some talent, and then
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: they're in good fights. I mean, we're they've got firepower.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: You gotta have firepower. I mean that's one thing I'm
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: going to keep saying, because you can have a good boxer,
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: but better in with somebody with firepower. If you have
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: guys two guys that can't punch, you know, that could
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: be a mistake right off the bat, Like people will
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: get tired of that because even if they're throwing a
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: lot of punches, you don't feel like something dramatic is
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: going to happen. So but you know, I thought if
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: you if you have fighters that at least have firepower,
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: and then you're putting them against each other in good
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: fights and people get to know who they are. I
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: always thought somebody could build something up on their own.
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: I think it can be done. But like it can't
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: be like we mentioned like the contender, Like to me,
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: what was like laughable about the contender in terms of
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: not it's not going to work for the sport. The
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: fights weren't The fights weren't exciting enough to just show
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: the fight. Yeah, you know, like Sergia More, can't you
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: know he was the first winner of the Contender, and
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: we know there's nobody with less punching power than him,
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: and like, you know Manfredo, where they have Manfredo and
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: these these guys.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: Weren't you know, like they had to tell the story
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: and they it was a reality show.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: Told the story. But then the fights weren't even compelling
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: enough to show the like they would just show a
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: little snippet and like trying to make it look good
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: and I'm like.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Yeah, you're like a slow motion don't do during the fight, dude, you.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: Know the show. I mean, I think that's like what
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: Dana White's got in mind with his developmental is that's
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: what I think, you know, because that's what he looks
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: tell he built this stuff. You know, it worked for
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: him with The Ultimate Fighter, and he knows and he's
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: admitted it. I mean, and it's true. They were about dead.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: Yeah he said it. That didn't hit They'd be screwed.
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: They were done. I mean, I really do think they
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: were done.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: I mean it makes sense. They had done a bunch
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: of time buys too, you know, so they were losing money.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: That is good.
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: That was like the last gasp, and you know it
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: was a compelling show, and they showed the whole fights.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: Mm hmmm. I mean, like I totally forgot about that.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: John in the it's one thing between rounds to show
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: a slow motion shot, right, but during the fight you
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: go into movie mode, you know.
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: And they weren't showing the whole fight, and they're going
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: to totally forgot about that, And I'm like this ship,
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: I was even thinking that. I'm like, these fights are
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: so bad, yeah, pulling the story up and they can't
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: even show us to fight.
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: It.
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: At the point of having a series, the contender we
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: get to know his fight.
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: You might as well just hired Scorsese and go the
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: whole way with it, right.
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: I think that's true, Like that's I feel like we're
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: almost teetering on that, Like you know that as this
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: if boxing falls apart more and with the danger you
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: do have, like I think everything could almost be turned
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: turned into that in the last gasp that you're gonna
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: just kind of kind of the final morph might be
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: into like a pro pro wrestling thing where you might
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: need you might as well start staging it. I mean,
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: like because if you've got these no hoper fights and everything,
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: I mean, that's like what you're doing anyway, right, I
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: mean it's like jobbers and wrestling or something. It's it's like, yeah,
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: you know, I mean we're not there yet, but I
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: mean I don't think it's that far off unless something
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: gets done. I mean I don't.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: It's been a fast drop because not long ago we
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: have been ratings. We were pulling ratings that we hadn't
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: seen since like the late nineties, and we you know,
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: things were on the up and up. It was up,
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: like you know, there was you know, I credit it
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: would have went, but it was up.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: No, I credited to PBC and Hayman. You know, there
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: was a red. It was when things were down after
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: Mayweather Pacquiao and then Mayweather McGregor. I mean, I'm not
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: like criticized nose. I'm just like that was the biggest event. Yeah,
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: put together out and right peaked out. So then you know,
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: Hayman and PBC they do time buys. You know, the competitors.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: Surgeony subscribers right right, and then you know, force the
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: competitors do something and then you had something of a resurgence.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: Yeah, with some exposure, some ratings you hadn't seen for
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: a while. But that was I do kind of get
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: into that. That's where the sport just couldn't work together.
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: And then you know, as I've said time, but I
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: think it was key. You know, PBC in the first
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: year was resistant to the alphabets. They had the right idea.
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: That's like, you know, when they got blocked there and
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: they felt like they were blocked and they felt like
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: then they had to play ball with the alphabets, Like
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: if the UBO thing comes in now, I know it's
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: not twenty fifteen sixteen, but I'd like to see like
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: maybe what PBC I was trying to do if they
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: was part of it now.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: And I was kind of hoping that Dana would just
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: like if you got to acquire fighters, that he would
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: acquire fighters. But also I don't know, I just I
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: kind of wish he'd work with these guys, you know,
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: just make it all like this is my card, I'm
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: promoting it. But let's let's use your matchmakers and let's
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: make some good fights. And that's kind of what we
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: talked about. How yeah, technically it's a monopoly, but when
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: people get bought out, companies merge, they don't just fire everybody,
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: you know. I mean, there's a lot of firing. I'm
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: not saying that in readjusting and new positions and all that,
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: but like they could still work their company, except they
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: got a bunch of money for it now, and then
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: the risk is almost gone. So you're like, hey, man,
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: let's let's compete and let's make the best fights now
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: because we already got paid, you know. And that's what
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: I was kind of going on the monopoly thing. It
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: didn't mean you're going to merge everything together and then
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: get rid of all the professional people in there. You
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: know they're great match makers. Well, if they don't have
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: to worry about making future profit, then they probably better matchmakers, right.
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: That seems logical, right, Yeah, I.
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: Mean you you have a matchmaker who truly knows all
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: the fighters and has enough fighters available to them they
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: don't got to worry about who wins or loses. Yeah,
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: they can put some good fights together, and we have
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: a lot better undercards.
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot more competitive fights, a lot more you know,
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: low plus numbers, low minus numbers. Like, you know, it
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: could be done, but that's kind of what I was envisioning,
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: whether it was Turkey or Dane or somebody, just to
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: kind of group it all together because they're ready to
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: hand over their business obviously. You know we see match
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: hum and Queensbridge here you go take it man, you know.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: And then now look where they're at because they just
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: they lent it out. They didn't they didn't sell it,
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: they lent it. And now all of a sudden you're like, okay,
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: well to be able to make Parker and Wardley, it
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: has to be on pay per view, that's right, should
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: not be should not be pay per view? Any other
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: items before you get out of here. I know you
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: got a heart out here, sir.
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that was that was about just you know, keeping
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: up dated. You know, I want to fight, just summon
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: it up again. I want the fighters to make as
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: much as possible, but we need something different. So yeah,
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: clearly I'm not like with Dana White on his politics,
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: but and I wish the UFC guys made more money.
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: I've always thought that. But there's some things he's done
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: good because there's some things he's done that were just
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: simply like boxing used to be less weight classes, you know,
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: one chance basically one champ of division, I mean just
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: the basics.
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: And he's maneuvered the corporate world very well. You have
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: to say, you know that he's got a voice. Like
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: you said, no matter what is coming out of his mouth,
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about is
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: people do listen to him, regardless if you sit there
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: and retweet it or you say mans this guy, it's
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: still something.
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: You know, he's got a voice. And uh, you know, yeah,
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: I mean, I so I want something to happen here.
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: You know, the alphabet's gotta go. I mean I've been
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: saying that forever. The boxing writers used to say it
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: all the time. Now they've got some apologists. You know,
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: the alphabet's gotta go. The sport's always going to be
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: held back, and a lot of it just picking and
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: choosing when to rip them and when to not, when
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: it's safe to rip them and when it's not, you know, right.
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: That's what it's turned into.
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: Yeah, So I want some I want something, something, something
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: to happen. Something's got to change. We're going nowhere where
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: we're at, So i'd like White to be able to
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: get something going. I I'd like the boxers to make
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: as much as possible, But I want.
- 1:38:41Speaker 6: To see boxing succeed, right obviously, But you know, and
- 1:38:47Speaker 6: I'm hoping that with more organization, it's going to always
- 1:38:51Speaker 6: be the most dangerous sport, but really, at least morally
- 1:38:55Speaker 6: where you can make it a little bit safer, at
- 1:38:58Speaker 6: least the fighters a little bit better taken care of,
- 1:39:02Speaker 6: because you got these lower people on the lower end
- 1:39:05Speaker 6: of the spectrum, but we're still big enough, and they're
- 1:39:08Speaker 6: not making any money.
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: There's there's nothing to take care of them. You know,
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: you've got all the CTE risk. You know, you're you know,
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: you're you're getting head trauma. So there's gonna be you know,
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: you're you're gonna have CTE. It's gonna be there. I mean,
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: you can't just have people not being taken care of,
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: you know, not, Well, it's happening. That's the way it's
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: always happened. Yeah, if we could at least, if we
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: can at least take some of some part of that
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: out of the sport.
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I hear that. Well. I appreciate you find your time, sir,
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: Chris could being with you good, being with you as always.
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: All right, you have a good one, all right, talk
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: to you soon. Ye have a good one, John, have
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: a good one, alrighty. So I got a little bit
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: of sime left. We do have Pero and Gomez jo
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: Elvis Gomez, Linear Uh Pero, Pat Eddie, Hern's guy Omar Jones.
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: That's gonna be on the zone. That's Saturday from that
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: casino that he's been you know, putting a bunch of
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: cards in lately, you know, to be fair like Jordan
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: Thompson's pretty good. He's a big underdog the yoell you
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: know Gomez is in a fight Ingram. That's a real fight.
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: Last I checked, there was there was numbers well under
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: two hundred plus two hundred. In fact, let me double
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: check plus one fifty eight plus one forty eight plus
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: one fifty plus one ninety. I think Gome is gonna
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: come through. But that's a good fight. I'd say that's uh,
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: you know, Pat Brown pretty big, you know, big dog
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: or not dog favorite. We have the Bwatzi Parker. I
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: like Bwatzi by decision, but Parker is a good fighter,
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: you know. And if you're looking, you know FanDuel plus
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: four twenty for twenty bro. I'm also the Ray Bradley
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: Ree or Ray uh Rhea. That's a good fight. Lynn
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: and Arthur. I think that's gonna be a competitive fight.
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: I know Arthur's a slight dog. I haven't put any
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: money on it, but I'm kind of going back and forth.
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: Liam Cameron and Troy Jones on that card. Pick him
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: fight all the way, pick them fight. So could Zach
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: Parker push Bawatzi into a good competitive fight even though
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: it's let's say eight to four or something like that,
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: But competitively, that's actually a pretty good card. I will
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: say that Melvin Jerusalem is back. I think he'll win
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: pretty cleanly. He's back. I think it's tomorrow. Yeah, it's tomorrow.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: And then I like McKayla Mayor by decision. Sergey lipnitz
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: Is on the other card, there's some wide you know,
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: it's not some kind of great card. I'm not gonna
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: sit there and sugarcoat it. As long as Mayor hasn't
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: like fallen off or anything like that, I think she
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: should win pretty cleanly. I think it's id the Tiger
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: Quebec boxing. It's in. It's in. It's in a casino
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: there in Montreal. I believe if I remember correctly, and
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: top rank kind of you know, gives you a clue
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: how to how to access that, like you know where
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: it's at here in the States, so you can just
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: go by their their Twitter. They kind of show you, hey,
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: these are you know where it's gonna be. You know,
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: so in Spencer and Mayor, that's gonna be. I just
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: saw it from the ring that the vacant WBO NWBC.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: It's just you know, because it's gotten vacated by Cecilia.
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: It's just, hey, by the way, they're on the line.
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: So people are gonna call that unification. You know, it
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: is what it is. They just kind of be like, hey,
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: by the way, there's a lot of belts on the
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: line because of that. So yeah, I like Peril to
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: win as well. I like Gomez to win, but I
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: think Gomez is going to be in a really good fight.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: So it is one of those weekends that just don't
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: stand way out, you know, I say it all the time,
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: but it is true like some of the Okay, so
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: it's on Roku top rank classes on Roku, Visio, tub
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: and Pluto, and like I said, you can go you
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: know how to watch Spencer and Mayor that that's basically
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: on the top rank and they'll show you and it
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: does seem like I've heard netflixper Mayweather in pak Yo two.
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: The twenty twenty six. We'll see, you know, if that happens.
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: It is what it is. I mean at this point,
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: you know whatever, you know, I don't really, I mean,
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: it is what it is, man, I don't. I'm not
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: pumped about it by any stretch. But I'm also like, hey,
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: you know, let's see what kind of you know, I
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: go right back to the undercart. You know, I did
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: see that Tim Zu announced that he was in Miami.
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: He's trained by Pedro Diaz now so, and then also
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: Martaya Andy Kruz. That was that person. Bid was won
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: by Matchroom. They wanted. They put up eight hundred and
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: eighty eight thousand, eighty eight a bunch of eights they
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: put up basically compared to five hundred and fifty thousands,
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: so they got that. I do like that fight. I
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: think that's a really good fight. I think we talked
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: about the Calliam Smith Troy Williamson, that the boxer Matrium thing.
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: That is a done deal, a little boxing twitter j row.
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: Maybe if Israel Vazquez was from Kazakhstan or some bullshit,
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: he would get more Hall of Fame consideration.
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: That's out of hand, you know, I think that's true
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: now you get on the ballot for a couple of
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: times and then you get off it. I don't know
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: the I kind of forgot exactly how how you how
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: many times you get on there and then if you
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: don't get the votes, you're out. And I mentioned I
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: think I mentioned this last week. Lusik said he had
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: a you know, a variety more fights left up to five.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: He also said, you know, all fight until forty one.
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: Then I'll build a sports academy and train there and
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: train others. So he's going to give back to the sport.
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: I think that's kind of cool. So five more fights,
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: that's what his trainer and advisor said. We'll ultimately see,
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: you know, if that's true. Yeah, I don't know, we'll
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: find out. Asaw Jim Cross talking about, you know, the
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: disone thing. You know, we're talking about the ring pass.
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: What's it gonna be? What's the pricing? He said? His
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: own Canada recently introduced the upgraded disowned tier called Ultimate.
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: My basic Basic subscription ends next month, so I inquired
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: about what extra I'd get given the price went from
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: two fifty a year to four hundred and sixty ninety year,
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: and he was told that it doesn't include the pay
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: per views. He said, I'm confused, as I thought Turkey
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: said it would. So they're gonna almost double the price,
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: call it something else, the ultimate, which does seem like
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: you get all the stuff, but then they're not getting
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: the pay per views, you know, So it is kind
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: of it is the you know, the way they've done it, dude,
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: it's you know, they they're the way they've ever since COVID,
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: their business practice has been really bad. There's a rumor
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: that haimimuon Gia is going to be next for Shiraz.
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: Doesn't surprise me there, Oh White chesa three December thirteenth.
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: Guess what it's a pay per view. Got to sneak
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: in one more pay per view before the end of
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: the year. The way Eddie's talking, Eddie hearn you know,
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: he's on the Last NAM podcast talking about he feels
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: good about Stevenson and Lopez. He said, Oh, so many
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: networks want it. We'll see Yafai and sand Deval will
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: take place. I think two thousand twenty six in the
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: first quarter from my from what I remember. Oh, also,
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: Foster Fulton is now I just sat on bad left hook.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: Foster Fulton on the Cruise Roach pay per view, So
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: we talked about how he's Janavic and Laura is on
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: that card. There was talks that Foster and Fulton may
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: not even happen. Thank god it's on something because it's
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: a great fight. I love the matchup. So that's a
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: pretty good undercard man Foster Fulton and then finally something
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: happening in one sixty. You know, my thoughts on Cruise
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: and Roach and how I wish it wasn't a pay
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: per view, but it does seem like they're at least
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: hooking it up. Here's Robert Joyner on Twitter. He said,
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: ideally the ring pass should be between two ninety nine
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: and five ninety nine a month in addition to your
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: subscription to make it tolerable. Anything more would defeat the
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: purpose of anything. You know. Turkey said very sensible pricing,
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: which means folks on his own won't be anywhere near it.
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: That that's the thing, you know, and I feel like
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: that was like a UK pricing there. But it's just
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: so backwards that they're talking about. Turkey's talking about how
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: the sport, you know, pay per views are hurting the sport,
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: but yet they're gonna keep doing them, but they're gonna
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: give you some form of deal, but they're still doing it. Uh.
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: Floyd Kid Austin Schofield out for at least a handful
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: of weeks, whether that's four to six or whatever, no
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: more Diaz fight or maybe postpone, I don't know. So
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: you know, we'll see. I wasn't really looking forward to
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: that fight anyway, but yeah, let's see here, uh Moses,
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: the Tommy people are saying uk Usak's next. I did
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: see an interview where I believe it was I can't
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: remember who the interview was, but that he was saying
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: that he wants Wardley and then we'll find out, you know,
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: who gets too sick or whatever. I did also see
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: that if, in fact, I believe Melvin Jerusalem will win,
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: that Calaso is the end goal. That was a quote
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: from the promoter. So that's pretty interesting. Oh, here's Jim
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: Cross talking about that Ria Raa and Arthur. He said,
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: good match up here. Rey is A is the fighter
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: on the way up, coming off the best win of
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: his career. Why author is seemingly on the way down
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: but has the experienced edge. However, I don't know if
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: Raya will ever reach the level Arthur got to. So
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: to me, it's a genuine fifty to fifty pick them.
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: I agree, man, that's well said, per usual. Oh here
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: it is Shanza Tell. He said he was talking to
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: Richard Torres. He said, I want the Moses fight. Oh
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: he was talking about Moses. My bad. He said, I
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: want the Moses fight. Everyone wants to know if he's
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: ready for USERK or not. I'm a lefty. We're both
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: young heavyweights, willing and able, so you know that would
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: be a good payment for him.
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: I'm not sure if that fight would actually happen, but
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: that's a good call.
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: That's a really good call. Yeah. Seconds out interview back, yall.
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: You know he said that the deal's almost done with Mayweather.
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: Oh I saw this Dan Rafael per soorce on Monday night,
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: that Bakraham Urta Zaliev in mandatory challenge. Josh Kelly, you
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: know are gonna fight January thirty first, Either the twenty
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: fourth or the the thirty first, is what I heard
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: in England. Matter is gonna promote that, so you know,
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: but that that card tomorrow is that fiftieth anniversary thriller
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: in Manila card so Yeah, that that's something do. Someone
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: mentioned Moses has boxed twenty minutes in fifty seconds since
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: July twenty twenty three. He needs rounds. Yeah, I'm not
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: in the whole get him in against USA club just yet.
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: But the fact that Usik said he's gonna be around
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: for five fights, even if it's three fights, okay, if
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: they're spread out more like a lot of his fights are, well,
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: I'm not saying he can never fight him. I'm just
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: saying let him get more rounds. Fred. We're gonna end
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: on Fred. If Barry mcgwinnon, Gotti and Bradley are in
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame, how is it even questioning Danny,
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: Danny Stark, Danny Garcia get in con Moral's Tissa. People
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: somewhat got confused and thinking Danny was the favorite after
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: he smoked all those guys who were supposed to destroy him.
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: Now the Morales. I don't remember the odds, but I
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: didn't hear too many people talking about he was gonna
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: destroy it. But yeah, Cone and Tissa big, big time,
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: big time, ro you know, favorites. Anyway, I'm gonna get
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: out of here, I think God, I'm so glad Foster
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: and Fulton is happening this year. Yeah, I think that's
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: about it. I got Mayor, Bowatzi Gomez, uh Pero.
- 1:53:42Speaker 2: All by this.
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: I think most of them are gonna be by decisions,
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: but hopefully some of these fights pop off. I mentioned
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: some other mid level fights at best, maybe some of
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: those will really pop off. Either way, we'll be back
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: next week. Out of here,
