- 0:06Hello, What's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:11I want you to be my date. Rose.
- 0:14Welcome to What's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:16The podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly, and
- 0:19the absurd, And all of our favorite.
- 0:20And least favorite scary movies, because we believe every horror
- 0:23movie rightfully has its fan base.
- 0:24Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:27My name is Jessie, and welcome back to Prom Month party,
- 0:30people. Yeah, we've got our third.
- 0:34I can't believe we're already at our third movie of the month.
- 0:36I know, but here we are, and this is actually our Patreon
- 0:40voted movie. We are gonna be discussing
- 0:421981's The Prowler, AKA a lot of different shit.
- 0:48So we'll get into that in just a moment.
- 0:50But first, I have no announcements.
- 0:53Travis, do you have poll results?
- 0:55I do. OK, So what we're doing this
- 0:58month is we're taking every movie and putting 4 characters
- 1:02up there, and you have to choose your prom date from that movie.
- 1:05So last week's movie was Cabin Fever 2 so we have 4 characters
- 1:10here, John, Cassie, the Rabbit or Party Cop.
- 1:16So you have to choose one of those as your prom date.
- 1:20So on Twitter, 20% choose John, 20% choose Cassie, 60% choose
- 1:24the Rabbit and 0% choose Party Cop.
- 1:28On Instagram 11% John, 33% Cassie, 33% the Rabbit, 22%
- 1:35Party Cop. OK.
- 1:37Who would you choose? Oh, none of those.
- 1:40You wouldn't choose any of them. No, I'd choose Frederica.
- 1:44OK. She feels good about herself,
- 1:48she knows what she wants, and she puts a lot of pride into
- 1:50making punch. I just.
- 1:51I think Frederica would be a good time.
- 1:53You know what I'm gonna say though?
- 1:54She kind of bailed on her date to go have sex with the dude, if
- 2:00you really think about it. I mean.
- 2:04Is that what you want in your prom date?
- 2:05To bail on you? To go have sex with somebody
- 2:07else. We're not anything serious, you
- 2:10know what I mean? We're just there for a good
- 2:11time. If that's part of her good time,
- 2:14then so be it. All right, well, well, OK.
- 2:16If that's the time for a good time you want to have, you can
- 2:20choose her as an option. I'm going to choose party cop,
- 2:22because Party cop is just always a good time.
- 2:26He always wants to party and it's like the party.
- 2:29And you want to talk about somebody bailing on you the
- 2:32second he thinks there's something more fun or dangerous?
- 2:36He's out there. I guarantee you, if Cassie would
- 2:39have said I just came back from the prom, they're all
- 2:42slaughtered. He would be.
- 2:42Whoa, there's a party. Exactly.
- 2:45I just don't think he'd be. I don't think he'd be a reliable
- 2:48date. Well, teach their own There's no
- 2:53perfect candidate here, really. All the people in Cabin Fever
- 2:56are kind of terrible. You know why?
- 2:59Because they're teenagers. Except for party cop, who might
- 3:03actually be a. Teenager who's still basically a
- 3:05teenager. I wouldn't be surprised if he's
- 3:08like 19 for Shadow Academy or something.
- 3:09He actually looks like he would. Yeah.
- 3:11Yeah. OK.
- 3:12All right. That's it for our poll within.
- 3:15So let's talk about the Prowler. Let's talk about the Prowler.
- 3:18What we can anyway, so the Prowler had a limited release on
- 3:23June 26th, 1981 and it had a RE release April 13th, 1984.
- 3:30We watched it on Shutter, the last drive in Edition, but as of
- 3:33May 11th you can also watch it on Tubi Fandango At Home Prime,
- 3:38AMC Plus, YouTube Primetime, Sling TV Premium, or YouTube TV
- 3:42Premium. Guess what?
- 3:44You ain't paying for this shit directly.
- 3:46There's no rental options. Seriously.
- 3:48Yeah, you're either watching it on a free streaming service or
- 3:50you're paying for a free streaming or paying for a non
- 3:53free streaming service. I feel like that's a first, like
- 3:56it's usually the other way around.
- 3:58That's weird. That's that's where we're at
- 3:59with this you This movie cannot make money if it wanted to.
- 4:04It's gotta make something from the streaming rights.
- 4:07We'll see. OK, so the screenplay was
- 4:11written by Glenn Leopold and Neil Barbera.
- 4:13If the name Barbera sounds familiar to you, yes, it does.
- 4:16Son of that. Barbera.
- 4:18Hannah Barbera. Yes.
- 4:20Wait, isn't Hannah Barbera two people?
- 4:22Yes. OK.
- 4:23Yeah, I just went along with it. I wasn't going to call you out
- 4:26for saying that. I just know that he's the
- 4:28Barbera. Yeah, I think it's, I want to
- 4:30say it's like Joseph Barbera maybe.
- 4:33We also had some additional dialogue credits that went to
- 4:36Eric Liwald, Mark Edward Edens and Michael Edens.
- 4:41And then Rosa's letter got a writing credit as well, and that
- 4:43was done by Sarah Higgins. Oh, really?
- 4:45Yeah. The letter itself got a credit.
- 4:47Wow. Interesting.
- 4:48You know what I I found that very fascinating.
- 4:51You know what? I think it's kind of it's nice
- 4:53that they are handing out credit where it's due.
- 4:56Exactly, exactly. That is refreshing especially.
- 4:59On a movie like this, A small movie like this.
- 5:02Yeah. All right.
- 5:03Directed by Joseph Zito, who you might recognize from this
- 5:07podcast as one of the directors of one of the Friday the 13th
- 5:10movies. I believe it was.
- 5:12Chapter 4. Yeah, Yep.
- 5:14The final chapter. Part four of the final chapter.
- 5:16There you go. I know.
- 5:17Chapters in there somewhere. Yeah, there, there's a thing.
- 5:20There's a chapter, a book, maybe verse.
- 5:23I would say it's probably the best Friday the 13th.
- 5:26Yeah, it's it's way up there for me.
- 5:29Yeah, I'm, I'm wearing the the best.
- 5:34Yeah, there's no swaying you from that.
- 5:35One Absolutely not. Yeah.
- 5:37Music by Richard Einhorn. There's also a band in it that
- 5:42like, performs at the dance, and they're called Nowhere Fast.
- 5:44I I love those guys. They're.
- 5:46So good. Yeah, they were.
- 5:47They were feeling themselves. I was feeling themselves.
- 5:49I'd go to a dance. How?
- 5:50Is feeling themselves? Yeah, dude.
- 5:54Like, if any dance can get down a band like that, that's pretty
- 5:58awesome. Exactly.
- 5:59And special effects Makeup made by the man himself, Tom Savini.
- 6:05We've said it before. We shall say it again.
- 6:07We are Stan Venies on this podcast.
- 6:09Dude, he fucking kills in this movie, he.
- 6:11Does he does. Starring Vicky Dawson as Pam
- 6:15McDonald, Christopher Gautman as Deputy Mark London, Cindy
- 6:20Weintrum as Lisa Lawrence, Tyranny as Major Chatham and
- 6:25Farley Granger as Sheriff George Fraser Travis, it is time for
- 6:29our favorite game budget or Buckhead.
- 6:34Well, this is definitely gonna be a bug Ted movie.
- 6:37In fact, it is. So would you like to venture a
- 6:39guess as to how bug Ted? I'd say 1,000,000.
- 6:43Yes. Wow.
- 6:44All right. Yeah.
- 6:45Yeah. There were various reports that
- 6:46was like 400 or $500,000 and Joseph Zeto was like, no, it
- 6:50took a million to do the full production.
- 6:52That's impressive. I do not have an opening box
- 6:55office as you'll remember. Limited.
- 6:58Yeah. Release.
- 6:59Mm hmm, this is this might be a first under the gross.
- 7:04When I was doing my research, it just said less than 1,000,000.
- 7:08Did it really? It just says.
- 7:10Less than a million. I did not get a solid number on
- 7:13it. Well, I love that you can
- 7:14actually. Did it type that out less than a
- 7:16million or was it like the sign? The little the little π sign
- 7:18I'm. Gonna say it would be funny if
- 7:20you could just actually put like some.
- 7:23Like. Well, gross some like I made
- 7:25some. Little Wiggly.
- 7:27Like the little, like shrug. Yeah, OK, it has a 5.9 out of 10
- 7:34on IMDb. OK, that's not too bad.
- 7:37I have a theme, OK for 1981. Apparently this is a good year
- 7:42for college horror. Oh fuck yes.
- 7:44So, well, this was a year for college horror.
- 7:47Let's let's yeah, let's save that for when we start talking
- 7:50about these numbers. OK, so the first one's called
- 7:53Final exam. Oh, that movie.
- 7:55Mm hmm. Which release?
- 7:56I think you're gonna say that about all of these.
- 7:59That's when I haven't seen yet, but I've wanted to watch it.
- 8:01It released June 5th, 1981 with a budget of 3 and 74,000.
- 8:07No gross information is got a 4.6 out of 10 on IMDb.
- 8:11Yeah, I've I've heard mixed things about that one, but I'd
- 8:15still like to check it out. OK, next one.
- 8:19This one's got a heavy hitter starring Linda Blair.
- 8:21What? What?
- 8:22Hell night. Yeah, I knew exactly what you're
- 8:24gonna say whenever you said Linda Blair.
- 8:27Hell Night is one of those movies that I've seen all of it,
- 8:30just not all in a single sitting.
- 8:32I'm the same, honestly. It's like almost perpetually on,
- 8:36well, RIP the old shutter TV options.
- 8:41Now it's just it came from Shutter.
- 8:44I like that it came from Shutter channel, but I missed the slash
- 8:47X. You know what really pisses me
- 8:49off though, is that it hasn't hit all platforms yet.
- 8:53So we're on Roku TV and we're just limited to 1 shutter
- 8:57channel now. But yeah, you're right that that
- 8:59movie used to play on there basically like on loop.
- 9:02Yeah, And we've caught many parts of.
- 9:04It Yeah. So it released August 28th, 1981
- 9:08under a budget of 1.4 million. And again, I have no worldwide
- 9:12gross information. It does have a 5.6 out of 10 on
- 9:16IODB. Interesting.
- 9:17OK, and the 3rd and final movie I have pulled for comparison is
- 9:22Night School. Night school.
- 9:24So this one I feel like would really interest you because it's
- 9:27about students being killed, but it's also like a police crime
- 9:32drama. Interesting.
- 9:33Yeah. So that's.
- 9:34Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I feel like you'd be into that
- 9:36one. I've never heard of it before.
- 9:38It it seems it seems like a Travis movie.
- 9:41No, Weirdly, I don't have a budget for this one, but I do
- 9:44have a gross of roughly 1.2 million.
- 9:46Whoa, OK, whoa. It made.
- 9:48US and Canadian. It doesn't say which dollar it
- 9:54is. I find that very SUS on IMDb
- 9:57that they started doing US and Canadian.
- 9:59Yeah, I know, right? Because you're like.
- 10:01One is more impressive than the other.
- 10:03Yeah, that also has a 5.6 out of 10 on IMDb.
- 10:07You know what? That also feels like a tactic to
- 10:09inflate your numbers and like actually like, Well, they both
- 10:13have the same dollar sign. I'm gonna list the US budget and
- 10:17then I'm gonna list the Canadian gross.
- 10:19Yeah, I mean, yeah, like, I feel like that you're playing the
- 10:22system. I I mean, you know, what if the
- 10:25system's gonna be like that? Make it work for you basically.
- 10:27System be like that then do. Exactly.
- 10:30Thank you, Charlie. Kelly OK, Believe it or not, so
- 10:37many taglines, really. Yeah, I know.
- 10:39One of them not quite screenshot what is your tagline that you
- 10:42have. It was the one that was on the
- 10:44poster that I posted. It was something about ice.
- 10:46I don't know, like this time it's cold.
- 10:47I don't know the Prowler, It's cold.
- 10:53Yes, but no. The one you're thinking of is It
- 10:57will freeze your blood. There we go.
- 10:59I mean like it. It's cold.
- 11:02This is when it was pre released under the title Pitchfork
- 11:05Massacre. Yeah.
- 11:07You don't need a chainsaw to have a massacre.
- 11:11Oh, I like that. Do you like that or does it feel
- 11:14like a cheap, like the pitchfork?
- 11:16And he doesn't even use the pitchfork for.
- 11:18It's like when everybody's like, oh, Jason Voorhees, his
- 11:21signature weapon is a machete. I'm like his ratio of using a
- 11:24machete to using other things is like, I mean I I'd have to do
- 11:29the math on it, but I'm gonna say that it's like the P number
- 11:32is insignificant, you know what I mean?
- 11:33The P number. Yeah.
- 11:34P numbers. Yeah.
- 11:36Sorry. No, you're right.
- 11:38Yeah, he he uses the pitchfork like, I think there's like 2.
- 11:43There's two significant kills that come from it that are
- 11:46pretty great and the rest is just like an army knife.
- 11:48There's also that shot of Pam like backing up with it.
- 11:51It feels very Friday the 13th. Oh yeah, I think, yeah, that's
- 11:54like one of the most iconic ones.
- 11:55Yeah, OK, Just when you thought it was over.
- 12:00Oh, nobody's ever said that about this baby prowler.
- 12:03Just when he thought it. Was over what?
- 12:06When did. Yeah, that makes sense for a
- 12:09sequel. OK, what?
- 12:10The human exterminator. The human exterminator.
- 12:15The prower. The human exterminator.
- 12:17Yep. What the fuck?
- 12:19Yep, they're. Just like throwing shit at the
- 12:21wall here, trying to like. Yeah, they're like, how would
- 12:24you describe the Prowler? Well, he's a.
- 12:26Human exterminator, OK? If you think you're safe, you're
- 12:31dead wrong. That's not bad.
- 12:34That's generic horror movie tagline though.
- 12:37Yeah, that's true. Like you could literally plug
- 12:39that onto any horror movie. Well, see, they lowered my
- 12:42expectations with some of these other ones here and then.
- 12:44That like the freezing your blood, when this movie has
- 12:47nothing to do with freezing? Yeah, at all.
- 12:49Yeah, yeah. I mean, they got the blood part
- 12:52right? Why not do something, Do
- 12:55something related to like the war or like veterans or some
- 12:58shit. There's a movie called Combat
- 13:01Shock. I think that's what it is.
- 13:04I feel like that would be a good one.
- 13:05Yeah, He comes back and he, like, starts to have like an
- 13:10experience and he goes on like a fucking spree, OK?
- 13:13Sounds like a fun time. Yeah, I've heard it's a great
- 13:16movie. Not at all like Jacob's Ladder.
- 13:19Yeah. Well, this one came first.
- 13:22Jacob's Ladder is in the 90s, right?
- 13:24But which one is the one everybody knows?
- 13:26I I've never seen Jacob's Ladder, but to be fair, I've
- 13:29never seen combat. Yeah, that was gonna be my
- 13:31follow up. Question.
- 13:31I guess I'm the one to decide the tiebreaker on that.
- 13:34OK, well, we got one last tagline in the stum.
- 13:37OK. The film that shocked America.
- 13:40Nope, that's a false statement. OK, I've got some fun facts.
- 13:47A lot of these came from the last drive in Marathon, but some
- 13:51of these were just a little bit of Jessie research.
- 13:55So this was made in rural New Jersey, specifically Cape May.
- 13:58It was originally set in Avalon, CA, which is why we keep saying
- 14:01Chiron's of Avalon Bay, but Joseph Zito wanted to do Cape
- 14:06May because it's got a ghost town Quality alternate titles
- 14:10for the movie include Pitchfork Massacre and Rosemary's Killer,
- 14:14and its working title on set was Graduation.
- 14:18Oh really? I like the title Graduation.
- 14:20I think graduation would be cool too.
- 14:22The Pitchfork massacre. I don't you I don't know if you
- 14:24wrote down the note about that releasing.
- 14:27Yeah, so it did release under that, but it was like a stolen
- 14:31release, which I couldn't really get into before when I was
- 14:35talking about the talk line. Yeah, basically.
- 14:37So some guy just found the footage, stole it, retitled it
- 14:40Pitchfork Massacre, and then released it that way.
- 14:43Yeah, in theaters, and nobody found out about it until later
- 14:46it. Was in the Carolinas.
- 14:48Correct. Yeah, I think so.
- 14:49I. Believe it was the.
- 14:49Carolinas. Yeah, that sounds.
- 14:51Right. Both of them.
- 14:52I'm not being generic. It's both Carolinas.
- 14:55NS Both are in the wrong here for going along with this fraud.
- 15:01OK, so Cindy Weintraub, her skin was dyed red for three days
- 15:06after the pool scene. Now patrons budget tier patrons.
- 15:10Well, remember while we covered the the MTV competition series
- 15:16Scream Queens and we talked about not Shawnee.
- 15:21Yes, Shawnee Smith. No, it was in the second season,
- 15:23I think. It's the girl from My Bloody
- 15:25Valentine. Yes.
- 15:26I can't remember her name. Yeah, Jamie something.
- 15:30My head, said Kennedy. And.
- 15:32My head, said Presley. Jamie Kennedy Presley.
- 15:38But she had them do a pool scene where they were in like, blood,
- 15:43blood, and she had them cover themselves in Vaseline so that
- 15:49way their skin wouldn't get dyed.
- 15:50Yeah, Clearly this trick was not around when Cindy Weintraub was
- 15:55filming the scene. That's on Sloveni.
- 15:57Yeah, that's. Yeah, Sloveni was really.
- 15:59No, that's fine. You're cool.
- 16:00You're cool. That's fine.
- 16:01That's fine. Let's see, I already talked
- 16:05about the band. Nowhere Fast.
- 16:06I had that written down here as well.
- 16:08And then finally, I have some of the filming locations in Cape
- 16:11May. So we have the Inn at Cape May.
- 16:14That's where the dance scenes were shot.
- 16:18Emlon Physic Estate is the Chatham House and that includes
- 16:22the exterior and interior. Really.
- 16:24Well, that's a big house. Yes, well, it's an estate.
- 16:27Yeah, it's a big estate. Nobody's going to call our house
- 16:31an estate. You know what I mean?
- 16:32The Chatham House? That's an estate.
- 16:34I want to start doing that just so I get people's expectations
- 16:37set up. No, I remember.
- 16:39So hey guys, I'm. I love HGTVI.
- 16:42Have gotten Travis to learn to love HGTV as well.
- 16:45One of the shows that I tend to love a lot more than him is my
- 16:49lottery dream home. And it drives him absolutely
- 16:53crazy that all of the estates are named.
- 16:56So he was like, I'm gonna name our house.
- 16:58We came up with one too, where we were gonna use the it's like
- 17:01Sawtooth Hill or Gap or something like that from Super
- 17:04Play Camp 3. Oh yeah, we were, weren't we?
- 17:08OK. And then finally, the Chalfont.
- 17:11Sorry about my French hotel was used for the dorms.
- 17:15OK, cool. So that's just a little bit of
- 17:18fun factoids about the Prowler. I think that means that we're
- 17:23ready to get into our good bed, ugly and absurd.
- 17:25OK. Go ahead and kick us off,
- 17:27Travis. All right, well, I'll go ahead
- 17:29and say the obvious one first. And having Savini on the film
- 17:34did wonders for it. Hell yeah.
- 17:36The kills really make this movie go.
- 17:39It really kind of makes it worth watching in the 1st place.
- 17:43And God damn some of these kills are like brutal as fuck.
- 17:47And this is before he did his Friday the 13th part 4.
- 17:54But after. So him and Zito get to work
- 17:57again. Yeah.
- 17:57And this is like the year after his first one work.
- 18:00Together again, obviously they both work.
- 18:02Together. Yeah, But yeah, man, the kills
- 18:05are amazing in this. I liked the effect with, I can't
- 18:10remember the guy, but he's the guy that gets killed in the
- 18:12shower with Sherry. Yeah, I love how they make his
- 18:16eyes white. I felt like that was like a nice
- 18:19touch and it just made the scene play out a little bit more
- 18:23creepy. Yeah, kind of like a bit, yeah.
- 18:25Like his eyes were rolled all the way up.
- 18:27Except they definitely weren't. It was definitely white out
- 18:29contact. Yeah, for sure.
- 18:31Yeah, and then him. Just like, oh shit, he's moving
- 18:34a little bit. It gave me very like pieces
- 18:36vibes. Yeah, kind of.
- 18:37Yeah, I get. I get that.
- 18:38Yeah. I also thought the setting was
- 18:40really cool. So I think you get to college,
- 18:43you get a, let's see, I wrote a bunch of things here.
- 18:46You get college, you get dance party, you get military
- 18:49location, you get small town, you get a cemetery.
- 18:52There's a lot of cool places this movie goes.
- 18:54And a lot of it's like a lot of lingering, like wandering
- 18:57around, but I think it's still kind of cool.
- 18:59Like there, those are places that have pretty good
- 19:03atmospheres for a horror movie and I think that they took
- 19:05pretty good advantage of it. OK, yeah.
- 19:08And final thing is that Rock Band.
- 19:10Fucking Rock Band. Nowhere fast.
- 19:12Nowhere fast is so good. They have like legit jams in
- 19:15here and. Listen, nowhere fast gets
- 19:18announced at the borough. I'm buying US tickets.
- 19:20Right dude, If they still if they are still active, I would
- 19:24shit my pants if I found them like that would be amazing.
- 19:27I would love to go watch them. I can't believe they didn't get
- 19:29big. I know they were.
- 19:31They were fun. I liked their vibes.
- 19:33Yeah, for sure. The music was pretty catchy.
- 19:35All right. That's my good.
- 19:36What did you have? Basically a lot of the same.
- 19:39The effects, Sabini. I mean, that's all you need to
- 19:43know. They're they're brutal.
- 19:46We linger on them. That's always fun.
- 19:49The setting, I'm never gonna be mad about such a, like an
- 19:52enclosed location, like what we have here.
- 19:55And I do like that the dance is kind of a main thing throughout
- 19:58the whole thing, and not in a way that, like, say, prom night
- 20:01is. We're like, Oh yeah, we're.
- 20:04Our events are revolving around prom night.
- 20:08Yeah, but this is like actually all the night of the graduation
- 20:12ball. And I'd say at least a third to
- 20:1540% of it is taking place at the ball.
- 20:17Yeah, for sure. That's nice.
- 20:20I also really like Pam's dress, the first one.
- 20:26Before he gets the punch on it. Yes.
- 20:28And then what else was I gonna say?
- 20:32There was something else. I don't remember what else.
- 20:35Yeah. So I I think it's a decent
- 20:40little flick. I'll play off some of that for
- 20:42the bad then. I think it would have been cool
- 20:44for them to take more advantage of the dance being there, where
- 20:48they they announce that a prower is on the premise and they walk
- 20:52them all in there. I think it would have been
- 20:54really interesting to see them all walked in that dance hall
- 20:59and like that building have to navigate the Prowler being
- 21:02there. I remember what my other GIF was
- 21:04going to be. Oh, what?
- 21:05At the beginning where they drop all of those names and those end
- 21:08up like connecting to characters and yeah, one.
- 21:12Be other some smart writing for. That yeah, I thought that was
- 21:14really interesting. And luckily I remembered enough
- 21:17about them maybe because I was like, oh God, I can't write down
- 21:19all of these names. And I was like, it's not
- 21:21ultimately, yeah, so. So I thought that was like fun
- 21:26bit of like seed planting at the beginning.
- 21:28Yeah, they did a good job. They laid the groundwork and it
- 21:31paid off. Yeah, yeah, OK.
- 21:33Other than what I said, bad, I think it can drag at times.
- 21:38There are a lot of times where the movie kind of slows down a
- 21:41lot. I think a faster pace would have
- 21:43really helped this movie if it just kept going and going.
- 21:47They need This is the type of movie that needs more can and
- 21:50fodder. Yeah, exactly.
- 21:52And they had plenty. They had plenty to work with
- 21:54there. But I'm wondering after you told
- 21:56me the budget, if that was a major.
- 21:58I feel like it was probably also that a lot of those people, I'd
- 22:01say the dance were like day players or background or
- 22:05whatever. So they weren't going to rig
- 22:07them up for all of the special effects necessary.
- 22:11Because that's not just like the added cost of like the effects,
- 22:15you know materials, but also like having these people on set
- 22:20for longer and. Everything.
- 22:21Yeah, for sure. That's true.
- 22:22Yeah, I'm sure like a money issue is kind of the root of
- 22:26that. So that was my bad mostly.
- 22:28OK, Yeah, I saw something and I don't remember if this is one of
- 22:33the reviews I pulled, but where it has kind of a when a stranger
- 22:38calls effect where like the opening's really strong and the
- 22:42end's really strong and in the middle you can just tune out
- 22:44completely and it really doesn't, yeah, make a
- 22:47difference. Yeah.
- 22:49I don't think that's great that like, you can skip the middle of
- 22:53the movie and not be surprised by the ending.
- 22:57You know, like you were saying earlier about that movie about
- 23:01the police procedural part being something that would interest
- 23:04me. There's a lot of that that goes
- 23:05on in this movie too, but the police work is so non like it's
- 23:10such a nun. Because it's Mark London abusing
- 23:13his girlfriend while also taking her assistance and not following
- 23:18any kind of police procedure. It's kind of funny because he
- 23:21really sucks. Yeah, he should not have been
- 23:23left in charge. Which is funny.
- 23:24Like, if you really think about it like that, like, hey, we're
- 23:26about to watch this guy. I don't need this incompetent,
- 23:30handsome, squidward ass man, I thought.
- 23:32About the Squidward face too. Oh my God, I'm so glad you said
- 23:36that. He has the he has the bone
- 23:39structure of that, Yeah. I mean, he's got very pretty
- 23:42bone structure. It's just, I don't know, he's
- 23:45almost like too pretty to take seriously in this role.
- 23:48He Joe Bob mentioned that he went on to direct 2000.
- 23:53I think it was 2000 episodes of a soap opera and this guy
- 23:57definitely has the soap. Opera face, yeah.
- 23:59Yeah, like just he was born for that shit right there.
- 24:03Like he got into film and then, like the gravity of the soap
- 24:06opera, pulled. Like man you two you 2 pretty
- 24:10for in place like this and. The funny thing is like I liked
- 24:14seeing him, like even with our Wolfi like streaming on shutter
- 24:19like at 7:20 Pi could see the dudes frizzy fucking hair.
- 24:23Yeah, it drove me crazy. Yeah, that man needs to learn
- 24:27the curly girl method cuz I bet he's got some beautiful waves in
- 24:30there. Yeah, I thought it was really
- 24:31weird. I was like, dude, your hair
- 24:32looks really fucking weird right now.
- 24:34Like, it does not look natural. Ever.
- 24:36No, that's not a problem for anybody else here.
- 24:38But then again, I'm like, you know what?
- 24:40That's why he's sussing to be a part of a soap opera.
- 24:42Cuz he's got the helmet head. He's.
- 24:44Got the helmet head, he's got the bone structure and he's not
- 24:47a good cop, so he shouldn't be doing that.
- 24:48No, absolutely not. Except.
- 24:51But unfortunately, that is what the town of Avalon Bay is left
- 24:53with. Well, lucky for the town, they
- 24:56had Pam there because she kind of helps steer him in the right
- 24:59direction. I love how it's almost like Jalo
- 25:02Esque, because it's like the detective and it's also the
- 25:06local journalist, because that's why.
- 25:08She is a journalist. You know what?
- 25:09You're right. I didn't even think about that.
- 25:11Huh. OK.
- 25:12OK. Ugly.
- 25:14Or did you say bad? No, I was talking along with you
- 25:18with the dads. OK, so.
- 25:20We're just gonna count that. Yeah.
- 25:21OK, Well, then ugly. I thought the whole thing with
- 25:26Chatham being like a handsy boy was kind of.
- 25:30Yeah, they're way too cash about it.
- 25:33Isn't he the one that grabs the girl in the opening too?
- 25:37He's no, that's no, that's Jimmy Turner.
- 25:39Oh, I thought that they were laying the ground.
- 25:40Where? Who is allowed to be a professor
- 25:45or administrator at the school 30 years later?
- 25:50Is he the old guy? There, yes, Mr. Turner.
- 25:53And he's the guy that also watches some fuck in the
- 25:56basement. Yep.
- 25:57He yeah. He just kind.
- 25:59Of that's such a nothing scene. Instead of the murder down there
- 26:02which is what we're all exciting.
- 26:03I was going to be slightly and like I was like is this
- 26:05motherfucker really going back and forth between these
- 26:07locations just to do some killing But whatever.
- 26:09We need to kill right now. No.
- 26:11And so we're just going to watch Mr. Turner stick his hand down
- 26:13his pants and. Yeah, that was so weird.
- 26:15Why and? It didn't even cut to any of
- 26:19them after the fact. Be there.
- 26:20It's just like and this man watch some fuck.
- 26:23That's it. Watch some fuck.
- 26:26Yeah, OK. All right.
- 26:28What about you? OK, well you touched upon a lot
- 26:30of the really good uglies here. I've got 2 less serious uglies
- 26:35just to mix it up some. OK, one is Pam's second dress.
- 26:40It's such a downgrade. I hate it.
- 26:42Well, I felt like that was more of like a casual dress.
- 26:44She had no other option. The color was very lovely on
- 26:47her, but the cut and style of it just didn't.
- 26:50It's the blue dress. Right, yeah, yeah.
- 26:53And then the other would be the boyfriend.
- 26:56What's his name? Not Karl.
- 26:58Mark. John Paul.
- 27:00Yes, one of those biblical names.
- 27:04When he's in the bathroom puking his guts out, he's like fully
- 27:07laid out on the floor of that bathroom.
- 27:09And you know that it's just gross.
- 27:12There's definitely grime and probably some pee pee.
- 27:16There's definitely pee pee. People don't know how to pee
- 27:19properly in public. I think that once people go in
- 27:22public, they like. I feel like that's where they
- 27:25like like this is my time to experiment.
- 27:27I said it before and I'll say it again.
- 27:29I do not know why there's so many adults on God's green earth
- 27:32that will not flush the toilet for themselves.
- 27:34I guarantee they don't leave their shit simmer in in their
- 27:37own homes. Some people are like I.
- 27:38Don't know. It's so weird.
- 27:40Yeah, I I can't. I can't with it.
- 27:43Okay. Absurd.
- 27:47MY1 absurd that I have for this movie.
- 27:48Is that Sherry's in the shower for the entire movie.
- 27:52Nobody questions it. I.
- 27:53Know it's so. Funny.
- 27:56I love how whenever she leaves to go to the dance and like an
- 28:01hour later she returns and the water's still running.
- 28:03Entire cake has been. Served a new bowl of punch has
- 28:06been set out and then spilled on her.
- 28:09Her boyfriend has danced with another woman.
- 28:11Yeah, And she comes back and Sherry's still in the fucking
- 28:15shower and she's like, she's. She's just like, I'm gonna close
- 28:17the door. Keep going.
- 28:19Sherry, you got this. You're not even gonna check.
- 28:22On her I'm sure you girls were pre gaming while you're getting
- 28:25ready. Yeah, and that's what.
- 28:27College girls. Do.
- 28:28The funny thing is though. Sherry being in the shower for
- 28:30the entire movie isn't an exaggeration, 'cause she dies in
- 28:33the shower, Yeah, and she stays there until the very end, where
- 28:35we see her at the very end of the movie.
- 28:39It's just so fucking crazy. I'm.
- 28:42Gonna do the absurd of the pitchfork going between two
- 28:46people at the beginning of the movie.
- 28:47OK, Joe Bob had a point and I would have figured out this
- 28:52point without him pointing it out.
- 28:53But I also need to acknowledge that he said this because the
- 28:57the prongs, tongs, prongs, whatever they're called on a
- 29:01pitchfork. I already said prongs once,
- 29:03didn't I? Anyway, tings that's they're
- 29:05called on a pong Tong Ting. That's a it's a Ting.
- 29:08On a fork. Fork, right?
- 29:09I don't know. I just thought.
- 29:11Like on a pitchfork it would be. Spikes.
- 29:13So yeah. Anyway, they're about the width
- 29:16of the man's torso, so how are they also gonna spear Rosemary?
- 29:21Hmm. Yeah, I feel like you can maybe
- 29:24get a good cut in honor, but you're not gonna, like double
- 29:29penetrate both of them there like it's it's not gonna happen.
- 29:32How dare you say double? Penetrate on my podcast.
- 29:37ADP Director of Photography Them OK?
- 29:41So all that said and done, what are you rating those Travis at
- 29:46the end of the? Day.
- 29:47I still think that this is a pretty fun slasher from the 80s.
- 29:50I have a good time with some really fun kills, so I'd say I'd
- 29:53give this thing a solid 7, OK? I am most surprised by this for
- 29:59myself that I'm gonna give it a 60, 'cause I thought I
- 30:04remembered liking this a lot more the first time I saw it,
- 30:07which is when we were watching last drive in Marathon.
- 30:09Yeah. However, I do think it's
- 30:11important to acknowledge that this was over halfway through
- 30:13the night, and perhaps that skews my opinion on it a wee
- 30:18little bit. I feel like this is also.
- 30:20One that you can easily casually watch, but when you're having to
- 30:23pay attention and take notes for a podcast, nothing to take notes
- 30:27on. Yeah, then that's.
- 30:28When you kind of can see some of the flaws and yeah, that right
- 30:32there for sure, yeah so. We're we're starting with a 6
- 30:351/2. OK, that's not.
- 30:36Terrible. That's.
- 30:38That's better than IMDb. Still, we're still kind of true
- 30:41to ourselves with that, yes. We will always be better than
- 30:45IMDb. Suck in IMDb, OK, we start off
- 30:50with some news footage of the Queen Mary bringing home about
- 30:5315,000 Fets of World War Two. They are crammed in there dude,
- 30:59and I feel. Like that was definitely like
- 31:01actual archival footage of them returning.
- 31:04And it is insane that there was that many people on this ship so
- 31:08stressful to give. Me claustrophobia.
- 31:09Thinking about like well, then also thinking.
- 31:12About like them leaving and they're so excited to leave that
- 31:17they're willing to be crammed in there like that.
- 31:19I know, right? It's so fucked up.
- 31:22What's also? Fucked Up is the voiceover
- 31:24person for this archival footage talking about these vets coming
- 31:28home, And many of them are excited to say they're
- 31:30sweethearts, but some of them have received a Dear John, but
- 31:36dear. John, that's all about, like,
- 31:38women breaking up with them, their husbands or boyfriends
- 31:42overseas, right? Yep.
- 31:43OK, that's what I thought. Yep, it's a letter.
- 31:45Just basically saying I can't do this.
- 31:47No Mow, Dear John. Bye.
- 31:51Yeah, so. We get that we get a letter from
- 31:54March 12th, 1944. It is from Rosemary who is
- 31:59telling John We assume, yeah, that she can't do it anymore.
- 32:04She's like, I hope you understand.
- 32:06You get it right. I did not know you.
- 32:08Would be gone this long. I am 19.
- 32:11This is a lot I didn't think. That there was an actual war
- 32:15going on. I just.
- 32:16I thought you were just joking when you said I've heard about
- 32:19what the? Nazis are doing that.
- 32:21Shit's fucked up. Thank you for your service.
- 32:23But like, holy shit. I just can't.
- 32:25I I can't. I can't do this.
- 32:27The worst part is like. At the end, she's like, yeah,
- 32:30and you know, maybe we can be friends whenever you come back.
- 32:32Like what? Once again, I must.
- 32:34Ask why are all of our prom movies coming back to World War
- 32:38Two? Oh my God, they.
- 32:40Are at least this one didn't have like this one had every
- 32:43right to actually bring up some Hitler stuff and it didn't.
- 32:45So I respect that. Take notes.
- 32:48Witchcraft. You don't have to talk about
- 32:50Hitler that much. Take notes.
- 32:52Other films for this also because we see Rosemary writing
- 32:55like we see the letter. Yeah, right.
- 32:58And her signature at the end, the beautiful little flowy
- 33:01Rosemary fades out and we fade onto the dance hall and the way
- 33:07the lights are like strung up match her signature.
- 33:11It's a really cool cross fade. I wouldn't.
- 33:14They must have sketched over it. They must have had the shot and
- 33:18then recorded that afterwards and then like actually did the
- 33:21signature to match that. That's really cool.
- 33:23Yeah, it was a really. Really neat shot.
- 33:27Oh, I love. Some nice transition shots like
- 33:29that so we get. Rosemary and her date, and
- 33:33they're just gossiping and whatnot as they kind of they
- 33:36they're throwing out so many names it's like impossible to
- 33:38keep track, yeah. They.
- 33:41I I. Does it just mean or did they
- 33:43have like the classic 1940s fifties speech, like the way
- 33:49that they talked on television back then when they were
- 33:52delivering Reliance here? They sounded to me like they
- 33:55were. Actually, true to that era, I
- 33:58have no clue. You know what I'm talking.
- 34:00About that sound right talking about?
- 34:02But I don't know how true that stuff is.
- 34:04You know what I mean? No, I know.
- 34:06I just. Feel like, maybe like the actors
- 34:08were like, OK, we're in the 50s. Let's like, pretend like we're
- 34:10in the 50s, except that it's the 40s, but whatever, so.
- 34:14Rosemary and Roy are already about to leave because Roy is
- 34:22horny. Yeah, that's basically it.
- 34:25Oh my God, yeah. Is Roy.
- 34:29Edward Cullen This is a total Edward Cullen move.
- 34:33Like, let's leave the dance and go out to the gazebo.
- 34:36Well, first. Off.
- 34:37We'll have to take the footage, pause, zoom in, enhance, squint,
- 34:43and see how spiky his hair is. You have to enhance a couple.
- 34:47Of times before you can squint. Enhance.
- 34:50Now squint. It's one of my favorite things.
- 34:53Yeah, it really like if he's got spiky hair.
- 34:55This is Edward Cullen. Yeah.
- 34:59So they're out there at the gazebo and she's like, we can't
- 35:03do this in public. He's like, you don't even have
- 35:05to take your clothes off. It's like there's this.
- 35:08New method. It's like, yeah, you're soaking.
- 35:11We don't have to. We don't have to get naked.
- 35:13Yeah, God's soaking, dude. Yeah, I had a Mormon dance right
- 35:19here or something. I mean, maybe.
- 35:21You talking about? I talked about DP in the scene.
- 35:24You're talking about soaking. We're not.
- 35:26You're not. You and I.
- 35:27We're not too different. Soaking so loud.
- 35:30Under the eyes of God I. Don't know about that.
- 35:35Not Sexon. Yeah, we're not really.
- 35:38Penetrating here. Yeah.
- 35:40Yeah. OK, Wow.
- 35:41Let's just, yeah, let's move on from.
- 35:43That anyway, they're they're kebabbed together.
- 35:46Yeah, yeah. That's all we need to know.
- 35:49Yeah, you get a guy, he's. In his full on army fatigues and
- 35:52he just takes a pitch fork and get some, get some both at the
- 35:55same time and then he lays a. Rose across them and then we get
- 35:59a tap a. Card at the Prowler, yeah.
- 36:02So Avalon Bay June 28th, 1980, prepping for the graduation
- 36:06ball. This is all a single Chiron so
- 36:10they haven't had the graduation ball since 1945 due to Major
- 36:15Chatham. He You know that.
- 36:18Was his daughter. That died.
- 36:21And then yeah, 'cause that was Rosemary Chatham.
- 36:23Oh, that's why they make him a. Red herring in this, Yes.
- 36:25Got it. Yeah, it's.
- 36:27Still pretty. Bad and then?
- 36:29He had a stroke. I'm not sure if that's related
- 36:32to the murder or not. But, you know, it's also an
- 36:35important thing to note here because they didn't have to give
- 36:39Lawrence Tyranny any dialogue. Yeah, I'm.
- 36:43I'm not familiar with the dude, but the way that Joe Bob was
- 36:45talking about him, he's apparently a terrible person to
- 36:48have on set because he just gets drunk and forgets his mind.
- 36:50Yep, seems like it's probably. Easier for him to have a non
- 36:53speaking role. Why It's?
- 36:54Probably easier to not even have her, yeah, especially in a non
- 36:58important role like this one I guess.
- 37:01Maybe like having a name makes the red herring a little bit
- 37:04more believable. It's the thing, the thought
- 37:07process behind them, yes? Yeah.
- 37:10Anyway, he lives in the house that he had lived in with his
- 37:13family when the rest of them are still alive, and now it's just
- 37:16him in his wheelchair and lots of stairs leading to furniture
- 37:19upstairs covered in sheets because he can't get up there.
- 37:24And he's also. Like I want to know.
- 37:27Who came in and covered all of his furniture, but isn't like
- 37:30helping him with his Adls and whatnot.
- 37:33Yeah, you know what? What is the point of even doing
- 37:35that? Like nobody is really
- 37:36appreciating that is the VA. Sending any kind of assistance
- 37:40to him at any point. Maybe a deputy or sheriff George
- 37:43is sending Mike. What's his name?
- 37:47Otto the Creepy. Guy.
- 37:48Yeah, Otto. Otto up there to do it.
- 37:51Also, He's also just like creepy.
- 37:54Sitting at the window watching everybody all day.
- 37:57He watches. The girls dormitory and watches
- 38:00them change watching some fuck, I don't know why, I've been
- 38:04saying. That, but you know, it's a fun
- 38:05way to, say watching sex you. Remind me of that one video of
- 38:10the bird that's like, hey, hey, want some?
- 38:12Fuck that was that, yeah. It's probably inspired by that,
- 38:15like, deep in my head right there.
- 38:18OK, so let's see the sheriff. He can't be here tonight, 'cause
- 38:25he needs to go fishing. Yeah, that's just his thing,
- 38:29man. He's gonna go fish.
- 38:32Otherwise, it's not truly spring.
- 38:34Never mind the fact that it's June 28th.
- 38:36It's not spring if he doesn't go fishing.
- 38:40It's funny, he. Like, OK, what's the What's the
- 38:43main dudes here? Or the deputy?
- 38:46What's his name again? London.
- 38:48What's? His first name?
- 38:49Mark. OK, it's funny he didn't get a
- 38:51first name in my. Notes he didn't wait the fuck
- 38:53out of me and seen. One so he's been.
- 38:55London the whole time. It's hilarious.
- 38:57That like, he comes into the the station and the sheriff is like,
- 39:04all right, I got to go do my fishing trip.
- 39:06You know, this is my time. I got to be off.
- 39:08By the way, there's a guy. Killed a guy up north, probably
- 39:11heading this direction. Sorry, son, I got to go.
- 39:14Yeah. He's just like you're in charge
- 39:16of this now. And yeah, I think Mark is kind
- 39:20of less than enthusiastic about the idea of having to do with
- 39:23that. Why are there only?
- 39:24Two of us in this whole. Town and like it definitely
- 39:27feels like a small town, but even a small town you have to
- 39:30have. More than two?
- 39:31You do, Yeah. You you definitely need more
- 39:34than two night shifts. Mark.
- 39:37But he's there at the day too. Exactly.
- 39:40You know, his job is to do this and they hit on the students at
- 39:44the college pretty much. Pam asks London to come by the
- 39:48dance. You know, if he's got time
- 39:51during his busy patrol, 90% of the town's going to be at the
- 39:54dance. So this seems like a reasonable
- 39:56request, yes? And he says he will be there.
- 40:00He is worried about the robbery and stabbing up north, but you
- 40:04know, it's probably fine. And she goes plus my article and
- 40:07he goes, mm hmm. Yep.
- 40:09Yeah, Yep, I read it for. Sure.
- 40:11I read more than the headline. So the sheriff makes money and
- 40:16come with him to the convenience store.
- 40:17It's Kingsley's convenience store.
- 40:20And Kingsley is talking to Otto about the majors, like grocery
- 40:24delivery. So I guess that's at least set
- 40:26up for him. Yeah.
- 40:27So that's nice. And then they again talking
- 40:32about how he's always watching the girls.
- 40:34It's they're way too cash about this.
- 40:36Yeah, it is kind of weird. How everybody just accepts it?
- 40:39Like if you're putting a sheet over everything, why don't you
- 40:42put a sheet over him? But then he'd look like a ghost
- 40:45up there. It's night time now.
- 40:49He's put a sheet over and you know, like he's not doing
- 40:52anything other than like than filling people up when he gets
- 40:56the chance. And he's even doing that badly.
- 40:58Because he just grabs Pam's arm. Yeah, I know, right?
- 41:00Yeah, he's. Terrible.
- 41:02OK, so. Pam is telling Sherry that she's
- 41:05worried about London, she's worried about the relationship,
- 41:07she's worried about the killer and she's worried about the past
- 41:10tense killer. So there's like there's a lot of
- 41:12that. Pam is just worried and Sherry
- 41:15is like, hey, I'm gonna shower. Yeah, I'm really worried about
- 41:19being. Queen.
- 41:20So Pam's like, OK, bye. And she just fucks off in the
- 41:24shower. Yeah, and it's like everybody.
- 41:26Else is like putting on their shoes and jewelry.
- 41:29That's how ready they are. And Sherry's like, I'm getting
- 41:33in the shower and Pam's like, I'll wait for you if you're fast
- 41:37and Sherry's like, don't. Yeah, you know, battery.
- 41:40Yeah. Also, Lisa flashes Chatham from
- 41:44across the She's also way too cash.
- 41:47Although this is kind of believable because I've seen
- 41:50dumb girl shit like this, so that's yeah for sure.
- 41:55So they're all leaving except for Sherry.
- 41:59And Carl comes to pick up Sherry and then he's like, oh hey,
- 42:02you're naked. And she's like, oh hey, do you
- 42:03want to be naked? And he said, hell yeah, I do.
- 42:05So he goes to get naked, except then he gets stabbed through the
- 42:09head and his. Face.
- 42:12Gets a little squishy in the process, too.
- 42:14This is my favorite I. Think of the movie because he
- 42:18takes the knife stabs from the top of his head, it comes out
- 42:21from the bottom of his chin and he's still alive and he's like
- 42:26kind of grasping at him and his eyes go all white and he's just
- 42:29struggling and it's so fucking effective.
- 42:31Yeah, it's such a nice looking kill.
- 42:34He takes his sword. Back.
- 42:35And then he picks up his pitchfork and stabs Sherry in
- 42:39the shower. Mm hmm.
- 42:41And also worth. Mentioning for Savini here, he
- 42:44is doing all the killing, he's playing the Prowler and all of
- 42:47these things. He is the Prowler.
- 42:49Yeah, he kind of does that in all of.
- 42:50His movies, Yeah. So, like, because he as the
- 42:54secial effects guy, he knows exactly where to hit to get the
- 42:56right parts yet. Which that makes sense.
- 42:58Yeah. Makes sure you have.
- 42:58Sense to do so at the dance, they're serving cake and some
- 43:03punch. Pam sees London come in and she
- 43:07like waves above her. She's real excited about it.
- 43:09And then some other girl I think is Lisa.
- 43:13Yeah, grabs him. For a dance and.
- 43:14He's just like what you gotta do.
- 43:16This is the thing that I remember the most.
- 43:18From this movie, anytime I think of the prower.
- 43:20Do I think of the killer? No, no.
- 43:21I think of this scene. I think of this.
- 43:23Scene I because. It's so funny whenever he walks
- 43:25in there and another girl gets him and then he looks at at Pam
- 43:30like, what can I do my supposed? And he's not like he's.
- 43:34Not half heartedly dancing. He goes over there and he gives
- 43:37it his all like he's over there, like full ongoing.
- 43:40And she even, it's kind of like, I think she's acting play like
- 43:43play drunk on him, like stumbling on him on purpose or
- 43:46on purpose to try and like get some contact.
- 43:49Yeah, I don't know what she's. Doing I think this might be a
- 43:52frenemy situation between Pam and Lisa because when he finally
- 43:56makes his way over to the punch table, Lisa bumps into him.
- 43:59So that way he spills punch onto Pam's pretty dress and she's
- 44:03like, cool, I'm gonna go get changed and he's like, boy.
- 44:06Yeah, and also during this, while she was watching him,
- 44:10Buggy Paul went over there and spiked the punch bowl.
- 44:13So, like, a lot. Like.
- 44:15Like a whole fucking. Flask it's.
- 44:17It wasn't a flask, it was a bottle.
- 44:19So like a whole shit of. Vodka.
- 44:21Yeah, it. Was insane.
- 44:23So she. Goes to the dorm to change.
- 44:25The water is still running. As we've said, the band has
- 44:28already taken their first break and come back from it at this
- 44:31point. You know what I mean?
- 44:32Like there's no That water's got to be cold.
- 44:35Yeah, but it's still steamy in there.
- 44:38Yes. Spoiler.
- 44:40Alert for the end. And I wish I'd remembered this
- 44:43when talking about the absurd, but the water the next morning
- 44:47is still steamy. I wonder if it's because of.
- 44:50Their like water heater. Whenever they're in a whole
- 44:54dorm, it still doesn't. There's no way still.
- 44:56Maybe. I don't know.
- 44:57Think. About Think about our dorms.
- 45:00I never took. A long enough shower to wear
- 45:03those would get they never got that warm.
- 45:05Either it never got steamy. Yeah, that's true.
- 45:09Well, so anyway, she. Downgrades her dress.
- 45:13It's a shame she doesn't see the bloody puddle leftover from Carl
- 45:19and said she just drops her dress on it.
- 45:21I guess maybe she looked over there and she goes, man, that
- 45:23punch, I just really soaked it up like towel.
- 45:25Yeah, so. She.
- 45:27Changes and she starts to leave. And as she's walking out she
- 45:32hears footsteps and then when she looks she sees the prowler.
- 45:38She calls for help and she's like beaten on different doors.
- 45:42But everybody's at the dance, so she goes to 1 exit and it's
- 45:45stuck and you think that she's done for her because the
- 45:48prowler's right there. Hidden hallway, hidden hallway.
- 45:53She runs. Through that.
- 45:55The Prowler isn't even really giving.
- 45:56Much chase here either. And also right after that we get
- 46:00a very Halloween type scene here where she's at like the glass
- 46:04door and the prowers, like approaching the hall, kind of
- 46:07like Michael when he's getting into the bathroom or the
- 46:09washroom or whatever. And she like busts out the
- 46:12window and gets out and goes down the stairs.
- 46:14Yeah, to a Chatham just in his wheelchair next to the building
- 46:18for God knows why. And he grabs her arm and she's
- 46:22like. You need to let me go.
- 46:24Please let me go. Please let me go.
- 46:26Eventually she just takes off her little shawl thing and
- 46:29leaves her purse behind, because that's the only way she can get
- 46:33free from this man's grip, I and she.
- 46:37Runs into. London, who I'm gonna say took
- 46:42too long to realize that he should follow her because easily
- 46:461520 minutes have passed before he's like, is my girlfriend mad
- 46:51at me? I feel like any time you.
- 46:53Tried to leave like somebody pulled him to the dentist.
- 46:55Like, I gotta do it. OK, one more song.
- 46:59All right, let's go. Oh, shit.
- 47:00Here I go again. He's the original party cop.
- 47:03Oh my God, he is. Yeah, this is probably Party
- 47:06Cops favorite movie. That's why he wanted to get into
- 47:08being a cop. And I want to have cheekbones.
- 47:11Like Squidward and I want to be down, dude, that's totally.
- 47:15His inspiration? So Wanden goes to investigate to
- 47:21see what's going down. He finds her purse there and he
- 47:24finds wheelchair Marks and boot prints.
- 47:27Found wheelchair tracks. And boot tracks it's.
- 47:34Get detective work there, buddy. You you're doing it.
- 47:36Good job. And then she says.
- 47:39Did you check the dorm room? And he's like, no, didn't think
- 47:44about that. And she was like, OK, yeah,
- 47:47well, 'cause, you know, my friends are still in there.
- 47:49Sherry's in there for sure, Probably Carl.
- 47:51They're like bunnies. So he goes in, the room is
- 47:56locked. He does not question this.
- 47:59So then they decide that they're gonna go to Chatham's and they
- 48:02just break in. It's just a casual little
- 48:05Vienni, 'cause he he's not answering the.
- 48:06Door. So they're like, all right,
- 48:08let's go run back to see if they find him.
- 48:10He's not here. OK, let's just check for
- 48:12wheelchair tracks. You don't see if you, like, roll
- 48:15it out of that place, you know what I mean?
- 48:16It'll roll it back up to it. But no, they're like, yeah,
- 48:19let's break in, let's go wandering around.
- 48:20Yeah, let's look at pictures of his.
- 48:22Dead daughter and see all the roses he keeps around.
- 48:25This is in no way morbid swear. There's like a rose pressed in a
- 48:30photo album, and his daughter's name is revealed as Francis
- 48:34Rosemary Rose Chatham. So the Rose was symbolic.
- 48:38It wasn't just a killer's calling card, yeah.
- 48:42The whole thing was just Rose. Yeah, and she sees all this.
- 48:45Stuff. And she thinks, OK, well maybe,
- 48:47like, you know, the killer is still around and he's gonna be
- 48:50here and he's the one that did that, like, and London is like,
- 48:53what the fuck are you talking? About She goes my article that
- 48:54you said was really good. Remember that He's like, Oh
- 48:58yeah. Yeah.
- 49:00Yeah, so Paul is throwing up in the bathroom and Lisa tells him
- 49:05that she's gonna go swim in Garner's pool and if he can get
- 49:09his shit together, he can join her.
- 49:11I don't blame her for being mad. She he lost.
- 49:14She lost her date 'cause he got too drunk.
- 49:16I think we talked about this in another one of our movies.
- 49:21It was prom night too. Oh.
- 49:22Yeah, because of her prom day got too fucked up too and it
- 49:25ruined the night for her. Exactly.
- 49:27Yeah. So Mark and Pam, they warned
- 49:32them at the dance that a prowers on the scene.
- 49:34So yeah, so Miss Alice says that.
- 49:36She's basically, she locks down the dance.
- 49:40She's like, guys, don't panic, but there's a killer.
- 49:43But don't panic. We're just going to lock you all
- 49:46in the building. Yep, everybody's got to stay.
- 49:48Here, Except Lisa's already left.
- 49:52Yes, she already got. Out two of the friends.
- 49:54I I don't know if we ever get names for them.
- 49:57They're the ones that fuck in the basement.
- 49:58I've never got their name either.
- 49:59Yeah, they assume, Paul. Is with Lisa, but actually Paul
- 50:05is fighting with Turner, 'cause he's very drunk and disorderly.
- 50:09And Turner's like, you need to arrest this man.
- 50:12And London's like, hey Pam, you want to arrest your friend?
- 50:14And she's like, yeah, yeah, they're all game for you.
- 50:17Yeah, he's like Booker Pamo. Can you imagine?
- 50:20Can you imagine being named Pam having a boyfriend you're quite
- 50:25fond of? And he calls you Pamo.
- 50:29Pamo. What's the alternative?
- 50:34Pam. Pam.
- 50:35Just Pam, you know? Her name.
- 50:38What's a good nickname for her? I can't think of anything.
- 50:42Pam's a hard one. Yeah.
- 50:44Pamo. I'm a Ding Dong Pamo.
- 50:47God, so Lisa is swimming in her underoos and it's weird, 'cause
- 50:54she'll take a lap and when she takes a lap she like kind of
- 50:57comes up the ladder a little bit.
- 51:00All right. It keeps pulling me back in.
- 51:03Not done yet. So she does this a couple of
- 51:05times. And then the last time she comes
- 51:06up, she's kicked in the face. Back combat boot dude.
- 51:10That's that's. A rough one right there.
- 51:12Just like gets straight up boot kicked right in the face.
- 51:14Yeah, and so she's confused and. Disoriented and she's trying to
- 51:17swim out of the pool, except the prowler has jumped in with her
- 51:20and comes from behind and slices her throat, I would suspect.
- 51:26With the way that the Prowler is decked out in his gear right
- 51:29now, that this would waterboarding himself, yeah
- 51:31'cause his? Face is fully.
- 51:33Covered by some kind of mesh and it just seems like a bad idea.
- 51:37But he, like, actually is in the pool of swimming underwater with
- 51:41it, you know? So the two friends from before
- 51:45they decide that they're going to tell him this out, that Lisa
- 51:47is at Gardner's pool and she's like, fuck.
- 51:49OK, cool. I'm gonna go check on it.
- 51:51I don't need to stay here, 'cause you're all college
- 51:53students, you're adults. Just stay locked up and the two
- 51:57kids go cool, we will not leave the building and instead they go
- 52:00down to a hard to find basement room and start sex.
- 52:03And and Mr. Turner's, they're watching.
- 52:06Yeah, he's just kind of. Watching and then that's the
- 52:08last thing we see is about them. Yeah, yeah, it's, it's.
- 52:12So bizarre. Maybe they all kill each other.
- 52:16It's. Possible, Yeah, they.
- 52:18Got into like a. Whole fight down there.
- 52:19Show that it didn't happen. That's true.
- 52:22We can't. You know what?
- 52:23What I'm calling. It now dream sequel What
- 52:26Happened in the Basement. That's a good name for the
- 52:29movie. Too What happened in the
- 52:31basement? Mr. Turner story?
- 52:35Whatever happened to? Baby Jane.
- 52:37But what kind of fuck was happening?
- 52:43What the fuck? That's a.
- 52:48Good tag on for it. Distributed exclusively by
- 52:52vinegar? Yeah.
- 52:54Hell yeah, Let's pitch it. OK, so.
- 52:57Miss out goes to the pool. Apparently all of the kids just
- 52:59go to Garner's pool, 'cause she knows exactly where it is, and
- 53:03she gets there and she's like, 'cause the pool is red, and
- 53:07pools aren't supposed to be red. That's not a thing.
- 53:09This isn't a Valentine's Day dance.
- 53:10It's not a kitschy little celebration decoration.
- 53:14It's blood. So she goes running.
- 53:16She's going to go get some help. Except she's not.
- 53:18Because as she's running out, she gets stabbed.
- 53:21She gets stabbed hard. Paul is being.
- 53:25A drunk asshole in his cell where he's gonna be drying out
- 53:28for the rest of the night. I love this so because.
- 53:32Mark is trying to tell him to quiet down and he just keeps
- 53:34fighting back. And then finally when Pam's like
- 53:36shut up Paul and he just stops. Shut up mom.
- 53:43It's like from Scream three with Randy.
- 53:46He's like 15 fucking minutes, Paul.
- 53:50Leaving my legacy. So.
- 53:54OK, I'll be there. So Kingsley decides that he's
- 53:58going to come harass Mark London as well.
- 54:00He's pissed. He's like this dance.
- 54:02It's a disaster. Chatham would have never allowed
- 54:05this. Sheriff George, is that his
- 54:08name? Yeah, Sheriff George wouldn't
- 54:09have allowed this. We got kids over at the
- 54:12graveyard and London's like, what the fuck?
- 54:14We specifically told them to stay at the dance.
- 54:17So he's like, OK, I guess I gotta go.
- 54:19And he's like, yeah, you do gotta go, 'cause the gate's wide
- 54:22open and it's supposed to be locked at night.
- 54:24Yeah. You're not supposed.
- 54:25Yeah. They're like, OK, like the
- 54:26gate's open, whatever. And then whenever he, he will
- 54:28sit, Pam, he's like the gate's supposed to always be locked.
- 54:31So that's not good. Like, yeah.
- 54:34I mean it's it's public property that it's kind of gate like
- 54:37yeah, you know. So.
- 54:39They decide they're going to go investigate and he leaves Pam in
- 54:44the Jeep, the their official police Jeep cruiser.
- 54:49And as he's checking out the grave, somebody dug up the grave
- 54:54and has like slightly opened the casket.
- 54:57So London's trying to figure out what's in there.
- 54:59When he hears Pam scream and it's because Otto just decides
- 55:02that he's gonna like, smash his face up against the window and
- 55:05like, breathe heavy at her, which deserves.
- 55:08A scream. In in the fucking.
- 55:10Cemetery. Yeah.
- 55:11Why did he? Follow.
- 55:12Them like, did he? Did the other dude send him
- 55:17there? I think maybe he helped.
- 55:19George he may, he may. Have, you know well, hmm.
- 55:24Doesn't he die at the end? Maybe George is like your
- 55:28disposable. This could, he could be, Yeah.
- 55:31Like. He would be a loose end, you
- 55:32know. So Lisa's actually the one in
- 55:35the grave. The headstone is like the name
- 55:38is scratched away. This headstone looks so fake.
- 55:43I know. That's what I was thinking too.
- 55:45Like that's not a stone that is so fake looking.
- 55:48And they, like, acted like the engravings chipped away, except
- 55:51there's still a little rose carved in at the top.
- 55:54Yeah, so. They managed to open it up all
- 55:57the way and they find Lisa's body is in there instead.
- 56:02So. London decides he's gonna call
- 56:04the lodge where Sheriff George is at.
- 56:05It's the Okawi Lodge and the innkeeper is an asshole
- 56:12cooperative. I hate this.
- 56:13Guy. This guy's such a fucking
- 56:15asshole. Like, Mark calls and he's like,
- 56:18hey, it's an emergency. I need to talk to the sheriff.
- 56:20Can you please, like, I'm Deputy Mark London, please.
- 56:23You gotta get me to him as fast as possible.
- 56:26And the guy's like, I'm mine, I'm kind of inconvenienced by
- 56:30this right here. I'm playing a little bit of a
- 56:32game here, but he doesn't actually say that.
- 56:34He's like, all right, I'll go get him, puts the phone down and
- 56:37he plays a couple more rounds of.
- 56:38Solitaire. And The thing is, we watch.
- 56:40The entire thing go down. We actually are on the phone
- 56:43waiting with Mark London, waiting for a response, at least
- 56:47for seeing what he's. Doing instead of like being on
- 56:50London's face the whole time, Just hearing, like the gentle
- 56:54swaps of him flipping over a card.
- 56:56Yeah, and I like how. He like, gives it enough time
- 56:59and then he looks over at the door and he takes it, opens it
- 57:01up and slams it and it's it's not even a door, It's.
- 57:04His, like, desk drawer. And was that what that was?
- 57:07Yeah. He doesn't even get up.
- 57:09Yeah. This guy's so lazy.
- 57:11Yeah, so he's like, he's not in his.
- 57:13Cabin Some of the fellows are night fishing and goes well.
- 57:16Can you take a message? And he's like, I have to find a
- 57:19pen. The pen's behind his ear.
- 57:22He puts the phone down and he's like all.
- 57:23Right. I'm going to do it.
- 57:24And then he realizes, like, I've actually got one.
- 57:27So he actually grabs it. And he grabs like a paper bag.
- 57:30Yeah. It's like a brown paper bag.
- 57:31Yeah. And then?
- 57:31He writes down. The message Mark.
- 57:36It's a long one. I'm glad he wrote it.
- 57:38Down South, London's like, all right, I'm gonna call the state
- 57:43police, cuz I don't think that message is getting to George.
- 57:46So Pam thinks Lisa's killer is also Rosemary's killer in
- 57:50London's. Like, you're stupid.
- 57:52He says he's gonna leave her at the dance and he calls her a
- 57:57burden. I forget his exact words.
- 57:59It was like, no, like I'm tired of dragging you.
- 58:02I have. It written here.
- 58:04Let's see, be there. I'm off at the dance.
- 58:08Going to Chatham's on their own. Doesn't want to drag her around
- 58:11anymore. That's what he says.
- 58:12Yeah, and she just kind of. Looks at him and he's like, OK.
- 58:18So she gets back in the. Jeep and they go to Chatham's.
- 58:22The power gets cut as they're looking around.
- 58:24So Lena's like, I'm gonna go fix the fuse, yeah?
- 58:30You know, they're breaking in, they're doing some D&E, might as
- 58:32well like do some renovations, fixing out the Karma.
- 58:35Yeah, you know, like. Sure.
- 58:37I respect it. It is what it is at this point,
- 58:40you know? Yeah.
- 58:41So he is grabbed by the prowler while he's going to do that and
- 58:45then the power comes back on. Yeah, you get a shot.
- 58:48Of the pitchfork being held over him.
- 58:50And then it cuts away. And I just had to know, like you
- 58:52can tell that he didn't die because you don't have Tom
- 58:55Savini do a death and not actually right?
- 58:59Show the shit on a movie like this right here.
- 59:02If somebody dies, you'll know it.
- 59:04So. Pam sees the necklaces dangling
- 59:08down from the fireplace and has no sense of self preservation,
- 59:11'cause she decides to grab at him and then Rosemary's body
- 59:14falls out of the chimney. Yep.
- 59:17So she. Runs out and as she runs out of
- 59:19the room she runs into the prowler and then there's like a
- 59:22lot of chasing happening. Yeah, running through the house.
- 59:26Although I. Do really like the scene of her
- 59:28going up to the room with all of the covered furniture that's
- 59:32covered in sheets, 'cause that's like a really cool place to do
- 59:35some hidings. I'm like looking around.
- 59:37I like the scene where she's hiding under.
- 59:38The bed and a rat starts chewing on her hair.
- 59:40Oh yeah, I forgot about. That part too.
- 59:43Yeah. So the Prowler.
- 59:46Ends up finding her and he approaches her and she's
- 59:49defending herself with this pitchfork.
- 59:51She ripped it off, yeah. Like, she grabbed it, ripped off
- 59:54the pitchfork part. He's got like a bayonet.
- 59:56No. Yeah, I don't.
- 59:58Know it doesn't matter because Otto comes up behind him and
- 1:00:01shoots him, and then Pam's like, Oh my God, I misjudged you for
- 1:00:04being creepy. You're creepy, But you also
- 1:00:06saved my life. And then the prowler shoots
- 1:00:08Otto. Yeah, yeah, I forgot about that.
- 1:00:10He's. Like I got my own double barrel
- 1:00:11right here. So then they fight.
- 1:00:14Pam and the Prowler do, and it turns out the Prowler is Old Man
- 1:00:19Jenkins. It's actually Sheriff George
- 1:00:23Frazer, you know, doing a night. Fishing.
- 1:00:26Nope. He It was all a.
- 1:00:27Lie Spring still has not sprung because he hasn't gone fishing.
- 1:00:32Fishing for murder, maybe. And they they wrestle on.
- 1:00:38There, he's got the shotgun. She tries to grab it and she's
- 1:00:41on top of him and she manages to take control of the shotgun just
- 1:00:46enough to get it up pointed at his head.
- 1:00:48And she pulls the trigger and we get a sweet ass head explosion
- 1:00:52because God damn it explodes so. Afterwards, in a very black
- 1:00:58Christmas esque ending, London takes Pam back to her dorm and
- 1:01:04just fucks on off so she can be there all alone.
- 1:01:07That's such a weird. Thing I guess.
- 1:01:09She's like, I gotta do cop work like and she's like, yeah, I'm
- 1:01:12kind of like a cop too. So I probably do too.
- 1:01:14Yeah. Let me get out of this dress.
- 1:01:16Let let me know when I'm gonna. Speak to HR about getting my get
- 1:01:19my name on the payroll so she gets to her room.
- 1:01:23It's unlocked again. The water is running.
- 1:01:26It's very steamy in there. It's so steamy.
- 1:01:29What is their water bill? What is their gas bill?
- 1:01:32I'm very concerned and she is like, OK, Sherry, this is
- 1:01:38enough's enough. And when she pulls back this
- 1:01:41door, she sees a dead Sherry and a dead Carl.
- 1:01:45Except Carl grabs her. Yeah, Carl's like, maybe not.
- 1:01:49He's like hung up on the the shower head.
- 1:01:54Yeah, I like this because he like he's still got the whited
- 1:01:57out eyes and he just reaches for her and grabs her and then like
- 1:02:01she backs away and yeah, it kind of looks like he didn't actually
- 1:02:05do it, but then at the same time, like did he, I guess it's
- 1:02:09kind of ambiguous. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:11It has like. A cut to where you're like, Oh
- 1:02:12well, maybe that wasn't real. Yeah, but I mean it just like.
- 1:02:15Cuts to black and credits roll right after that.
- 1:02:17Yep. So you don't really know.
- 1:02:19That's it. And that's how the movie ends.
- 1:02:21You definitely know the prowess set though.
- 1:02:22You guys had blown off. Yes, yes, Unless.
- 1:02:25Mark becomes the next. 1 He's. Probably also a serial killer
- 1:02:30and having to be a police deputy the whole night.
- 1:02:34Fucked up his plans to go on his own murder spree.
- 1:02:37I feel like it's like you can do the.
- 1:02:38Sequel with him, but he's the boogeyman 'cause he's always
- 1:02:42dancing. Oh my God, Travis.
- 1:02:43Yeah. Hell yeah.
- 1:02:44How? Dare you?
- 1:02:45I think it's good. How dare you, the boogeyman?
- 1:02:49You want some? Fuck.
- 1:02:51OK, now that we've talked. About it, what do you think?
- 1:02:56I think A7 still feels good. For this, I'll bump it to a 6
- 1:03:001/2 OK. I I just, I would cut some of
- 1:03:03the middle stuff maybe give it more purpose to what's
- 1:03:07happening. You gotta up the pace with it
- 1:03:09for. Sure, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:10Cuz. Whenever it.
- 1:03:11Drags. It really like, slows the movie
- 1:03:13down a whole lot. Yeah, we.
- 1:03:16Covered it a lot quicker than it actually happens.
- 1:03:19Oh yeah, yeah, that's. Just the thing like you get a
- 1:03:21lot of like nothing scenes where they're just slowly walking
- 1:03:23around the house or the cemetery or whatever and then or
- 1:03:27somebody's playing cards while they're pretending to go check
- 1:03:30on, like somebody's staying at the hotel or the lodge.
- 1:03:34You know, there's a lot of time of just of nothing going down on
- 1:03:37the screen. You know who had a good time?
- 1:03:39During this movie, though, Who's that, Talia?
- 1:03:42Yeah. Started off, she was sniffing
- 1:03:45some butt. Oh yeah.
- 1:03:47We've had a weird Scout this week.
- 1:03:50Yeah, I think Talia has been taking advantage of that.
- 1:03:53Yeah, Scout got her teeth cleaned.
- 1:03:55Which for cats involved being put under anesthesia.
- 1:03:58And so Scout was high for a little bit.
- 1:04:01So yeah, Talia was like, I'm gonna sniff her butt.
- 1:04:04And then Talia was also like, hey, but also look at my tummy.
- 1:04:07And then because she had her vet appointment this week, she got a
- 1:04:10new toy, Piggy Smalls, and she was like, we're gonna play with
- 1:04:13Piggy smalls also. So Talia was feeling all of
- 1:04:15this. I think Talia is actually gonna
- 1:04:18give it an 8, I think, since it's great.
- 1:04:20I think that that's pretty. Fair for her and time for Zoe's
- 1:04:26ultimate Warrior Hunter. I like that.
- 1:04:29Zoe's ultimate. Warrior.
- 1:04:30I would watch that show on G4. Yeah, I kinda forget that that
- 1:04:34was actually. A warrior.
- 1:04:37OK, let's see. Well, I I don't know.
- 1:04:44I mean, would it be the prower I?
- 1:04:47Think it's Mr. Turner. Mr. Turner cuz he.
- 1:04:51Silently follows them down. To the basement and then fears
- 1:04:53that up from behind. You know what?
- 1:04:56I would say? That it could be Chatham also.
- 1:04:59Because whenever I walk by her, whenever I'm going out of the
- 1:05:01kitchen, she'll take her arm out and grab my arm.
- 1:05:03Yes, that's her. Thing when she.
- 1:05:06Yeah. She sits.
- 1:05:07We've got this little counter that's right next to our kitchen
- 1:05:11entryway from the kitchen into the living room.
- 1:05:13And if we try and walk through there and she's sitting on that
- 1:05:16counter top, she just like reaches out and grabs.
- 1:05:18She sticks her claws out of there to like.
- 1:05:20Get a good hold. Like she's not stabbing you, but
- 1:05:22she's holding onto your clothing.
- 1:05:24You're you're correct. She's.
- 1:05:25She appreciates Chatham the most.
- 1:05:29That's the right call. Yeah, OK.
- 1:05:31Who did she relate to? Let's see.
- 1:05:36In this movie, I think I would. I think I'd relate to the man.
- 1:05:51That's a tough one. It seemed like people were
- 1:05:53having a fun time in the bathroom there.
- 1:05:54I feel like I would have been one of the bathroom goers where,
- 1:05:58like, during the dance, like dance on lockdown, let's all go
- 1:06:00hang out. And like, it kind of reminded me
- 1:06:02of the bathroom scene in Frankenhooker where they all are
- 1:06:07just, it's kind of like its own party.
- 1:06:09And there you get Paul. He's on the ground throwing up
- 1:06:11everywhere. He's adding some atmosphere to
- 1:06:13it. You know, there's some really
- 1:06:14good bathroom scenes in. Cinema, because we've got that.
- 1:06:16We've got think about Pulp Fiction, yeah.
- 1:06:21And then also. Think about American Psycho.
- 1:06:23We got a lot going on. That's true.
- 1:06:25A lot. I.
- 1:06:26Mean those two? Instances I just quoted involve
- 1:06:29cocaine, but you know, I think my sorry party.
- 1:06:33Frankenhooker does too. It also, you know, involves
- 1:06:35hookers. But, you know, I don't think
- 1:06:37that that's really going on here.
- 1:06:38But yeah, so. Yeah, I guess.
- 1:06:41I would rule, I would be one of those guys.
- 1:06:43OK, what about you? I guess I'd just be like one of
- 1:06:49the random dance people I love. I love a dance.
- 1:06:53I do. I like to go out and boogie
- 1:06:55hard. Would you be Lisa?
- 1:06:58Then. No, because I don't think I
- 1:07:00would like leave the dance and ruin my hair and makeup by
- 1:07:03jumping into a swimming pool. OK, that's fair.
- 1:07:06And also. I've done.
- 1:07:07Laps in a pool before I definitely don't climb up the
- 1:07:10ladder after each lap. And also I'm not gonna take my.
- 1:07:14Friend's boyfriend and force him to dance with me in a way that's
- 1:07:17like mean the way she's doing it or flash a creepster from.
- 1:07:22Across the street, there's like a lot of reasons I'm not.
- 1:07:24Lisa, I'm just going to say I'm one of the random dancers.
- 1:07:26All right. That's fair.
- 1:07:28Yeah, I was going to say, like, I would have said that.
- 1:07:32The thing is, I'm not a dancer, though, so I wouldn't be out
- 1:07:34there dancing. I'd be one of the people
- 1:07:35enjoying the music or one of the guys in the band.
- 1:07:39But I'm like, I just want to be part of that band.
- 1:07:41Like give me on the the, the triangle or something.
- 1:07:44Like, you know, let's make it happen.
- 1:07:48Maybe that's what they were missing to be able to make Make
- 1:07:51it big out there. OK, tagline.
- 1:07:58Let's see who rose to the occasion.
- 1:08:03Let's see who rose to the occasion.
- 1:08:05That's not too bad. Pitch a fork.
- 1:08:14In her She's done. There we go.
- 1:08:20Yeah, there we. Go.
- 1:08:21OK, I'm glad I haven't come up with.
- 1:08:25The stupidest tagline on this show so far.
- 1:08:28I'm glad that I have. I think I could take.
- 1:08:31Great pride in that, OK? We already discussed dream
- 1:08:35sequel. Yeah, so.
- 1:08:40What was it again? What?
- 1:08:42What? What?
- 1:08:43Happened in the basement. What the fuck?
- 1:08:45What the fuck? Yeah.
- 1:08:46Yeah, so, OK, so. It's time for reviews, OK?
- 1:08:52I wasn't sure. How we were gonna land on this?
- 1:08:54I thought we were generally favorable, but I wanted to have
- 1:08:57a couple of options. So let me get the lower one dot
- 1:09:03of the middle section. If it weren't for the insanely
- 1:09:07dull middle section of the Prowler, it'd probably be one of
- 1:09:09the most effective slashers of the early 80s.
- 1:09:12All of the other ingredients are in place and well utilized, with
- 1:09:14Tom Savini's Grizzly makeup effects stopping the show every
- 1:09:17single time they make an appearance.
- 1:09:19As lightweight as the story is already, it can probably.
- 1:09:22It can probably use a few trims to cut it down to something more
- 1:09:25like 70 minutes. You all know we're a fan of the
- 1:09:2970 minute horror film on this podcast.
- 1:09:32If you don't need more time, don't take more time.
- 1:09:35I absolutely agree with that. Yeah, take the time you need to
- 1:09:39tell the. Story you need to tell?
- 1:09:40Yeah, we don't need to have all that.
- 1:09:42Meandering around if we don't need it and we didn't need it,
- 1:09:45here's the thing, we're not opposed.
- 1:09:46To long movies. We just rewatched the director's
- 1:09:50cut of Midsummer last week, which is a three hour movie.
- 1:09:53Yeah. Like we're not.
- 1:09:54Saying and we watch God, we watch fucking Tarantino often
- 1:09:58enough. Like not every movie has to be
- 1:10:0270 minutes, but also not every movie has to be 90 or 120.
- 1:10:07Like, just take the time. You need to tell the story you
- 1:10:10need to tell. This movie was not about story.
- 1:10:13This movie was about Gilbert. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:10:16Yeah, the. Story is very weak in this.
- 1:10:18Like if that's what they were banking on there.
- 1:10:20Yeah, yeah. No, that's 100% like good review
- 1:10:26for this right here. Just so you got to keep it a
- 1:10:28little bit shorter, a little bit faster, a little bit more
- 1:10:31entertaining. Yes.
- 1:10:32OK. I, I have one review OK, from
- 1:10:37somebody here. It was over on Twitter and it's
- 1:10:41from movies for days. OK.
- 1:10:43It says this is a damn good, often unseen entry in the genre.
- 1:10:47Really love the costume design for the killer.
- 1:10:50I will say the killer design is unique.
- 1:10:53It's something you don't really see too much.
- 1:10:55It is. I just.
- 1:10:56There's a thing that I feel like there were too many elements
- 1:10:59thrown in here all at once because we have this combat, but
- 1:11:03but then also we have a pitchfork.
- 1:11:04But then also we're on a college campus and we're referring to
- 1:11:07the killer as the prowler. Like, that's not just the name
- 1:11:10of the movie. That's like literally they're
- 1:11:11like there's a prowler on campus.
- 1:11:13Yeah, there's too many competing elements for like what kind of
- 1:11:18an aesthetic I think they're going for.
- 1:11:21Yeah, I guess maybe. Get a little bit more focused on
- 1:11:27what you want to really have thing be about, 'cause I like
- 1:11:31the idea of like a Dear John guy coming back and just kind of,
- 1:11:37well, see, who's he killing here?
- 1:11:38Why's he killing these people? Yeah.
- 1:11:40And did he really wait like? 35 years just because the dance
- 1:11:44was shut down? Like, yeah, is that it?
- 1:11:47Is he just? Doing it at the dance now, At
- 1:11:49the ball. Yeah, like, it's kind of
- 1:11:52confusing. But The thing is, at least it
- 1:11:56has like a strong foundation. They just needed to fine tune it
- 1:11:59enough to, like, get it to its full potential.
- 1:12:02Yeah. But yeah, I like the bones of
- 1:12:04this movie, and I think that it's still a fun, entertaining
- 1:12:07movie. I I feel like we still got some
- 1:12:09watches of from us in the future.
- 1:12:12Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely. I'll watch this movie.
- 1:12:14Again, no qualms about it, but I'm not going to pay super close
- 1:12:18attention just for the cool scenes.
- 1:12:20Yeah, I appreciate it. For the moments you want to.
- 1:12:22Yeah. OK, Well, then that's it for our
- 1:12:25reviews, which means that's it for this week's episode.
- 1:12:28OK. Next.
- 1:12:30Week. It's time for socks.
- 1:12:32Yeah, socks. We're.
- 1:12:34We're going to the chaperone, yeah.
- 1:12:35We're referring to socks as the. Chaperone 'cause it's not
- 1:12:39actually brought a dance at all, like a Thor.
- 1:12:41Thor, sore thumb, but yeah, that one's.
- 1:12:45Fun. Very excited to talk about it.
- 1:12:48Yeah, me too. So.
- 1:12:50Currently. You can stream it on Starz,
- 1:12:53YouTube Primetime, Hulu Premium, Sling TV Premium, Prime Premium,
- 1:12:57YouTube TV Premium, Philo Premium, or you can rent it from
- 1:13:00Google Play or Fandango at home. That's stand corrected.
- 1:13:03OK, so if you've got like. Premium versions of
- 1:13:06subscriptions. Oh, you fancy.
- 1:13:09Enjoy, Enjoy your socks watching and we're ready.
- 1:13:14I'm very excited to talk about it.
- 1:13:15Yeah, and this is going to be us.
- 1:13:17Wrapping up the saw coverage too.
- 1:13:19Yeah, so that means. That soon we'll have our bonus
- 1:13:23episode ranking all of the Saw movies thus far, and we'll also
- 1:13:26soon be announcing our next franchise, which we've had
- 1:13:30planned since basically the first Saw.
- 1:13:34Yeah, so that's. True.
- 1:13:36Yeah, I'm. I'm looking forward to both
- 1:13:38closing this one and opening up a new chapter.
- 1:13:41But don't worry, we'll still cover the other Saw movies as
- 1:13:43they get released, because we know at least one more is coming
- 1:13:46out. So for sure, but yeah.
- 1:13:48That one's been. Delayed.
- 1:13:49Though it's true, so it'll be a while.
- 1:13:52Same with Screen 7. Whenever that eventually comes
- 1:13:56out, we'll watch it and whenever another.
- 1:14:00Halloween or Friday 13th, whatever, you know you get the
- 1:14:03drill. However those.
- 1:14:04Happen we will cover them all right in the.

- 1:14:42helping us keep the lights on over at our show.
- 1:14:44So, so much if you want to show. Appreciation.
- 1:14:47And assistance towards the show in non monetary ways?
- 1:14:50Totally get it. That's cool time.
- 1:14:51Once you're tough, you can just do it by whatever you're
- 1:14:53listening on, just hitting a little Follow, subscribe,
- 1:14:56whatever you can. Give us a rating of preferably 5
- 1:15:00stars or 10 stars or four stars, whatever the rating system is
- 1:15:04on. Wherever you're listening, give
- 1:15:06us the highest number. If you want to take time to
- 1:15:09write a review, that's really awesome and we will read it and
- 1:15:12we appreciate it. We'll read it on the show those
- 1:15:14get. Guaranteed reads all right, Even
- 1:15:16if it's a bad one. I would read one.
- 1:15:17But don't don't leave us a bad review.
- 1:15:18Please don't do that. Yeah.
- 1:15:22And also just what people know about us.
- 1:15:25If you can, like if you got somebody that likes scary
- 1:15:27movies, you know, like if you think that we're a good fit for
- 1:15:31them, suggest us, you know, don't let them know about us.
- 1:15:34Because we like having more people about us and they're
- 1:15:36like, well. I don't want to listen to
- 1:15:37another show that's shitting on scary movies.
- 1:15:39Be like, that's not really their thing.
- 1:15:41Yeah, they playfully do analyze it, but it is analysis.
- 1:15:44And also they recognize that every movie's got a fan base.
- 1:15:47Yeah. And I feel like that's our.
- 1:15:48Credo we're. Usually more.
- 1:15:51Positive about movies than most people on here like yeah, our
- 1:15:55our ratings are always over. The IMDb ratings probably one of
- 1:15:58the lower ratings. I've given in a while.
- 1:16:00Yeah, if we don't have TV. Yeah, tubies are always wild.
- 1:16:03Cards. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:04But this right here, yeah, has six is kind of a rare for us.
- 1:16:08But that doesn't mean it's a bad movie, you know, It's just it's
- 1:16:11not one that we're like, fuck yeah about, you know, I'm not
- 1:16:15the primary audience for. It despite being a Stan Veenie?
- 1:16:18Yeah, exactly. So, all right, you all know
- 1:16:21where to find us. We'll be back next week for
- 1:16:25socks, and we'll see you guys next time.
- 1:16:29Bye. Bye.
- 1:16:42I don't think it's streaming anywhere.
- 1:16:44Well, let's find out for sure. Yeah.
- 1:16:45Yes.
