- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 2: The Rex was not chasing the Jeep.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Murray!
- 0:08Speaker 4: Murray, you there?
- 0:10Speaker 2: You love sandwiches, huh? Let's go to 80.
- 0:12Speaker 4: His name is Bo.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Wow.
- 0:16Speaker 2: That's prime time, baby. I had a crush on Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 1: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Coachman was black. He cost them the game last night.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Although they won the game. You're listening to Stugatz & Company.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Always good to see our friend Dominique Foxworth, the Dominique
- 0:34Speaker 1: Foxworth Show, wherever you get your podcasts. We were laughing
- 0:38Speaker 1: right before we got started here. Taylor has a flub
- 0:42Speaker 1: from yesterday's show. I want to play it for Dominique
- 0:44Speaker 1: and get his thoughts on it and also get his
- 0:46Speaker 1: thoughts on something that happened with Mel Kiper Jr. But
- 0:49Speaker 1: let's play the flub first. Dominique, we had the old
- 0:52Speaker 1: ball coach on, Steve Spurrier. This was towards the end
- 0:55Speaker 1: of the show yesterday. He was a celebrity picker. He
- 0:57Speaker 1: was making picks, college football picks. And here is Taylor
- 1:00Speaker 1: trying to get the old ball coach out of his mouth.
- 1:03Speaker 4: To get the old boat.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Are you okay?
- 1:04Speaker 4: The guy had a seizure there, yeah.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Is he okay?
- 1:09Speaker 3: You okay?
- 1:16Speaker 4: That was rough, man.
- 1:17Speaker 3: What happened?
- 1:19Speaker 4: So what happened? Did you walk them through what happened?
- 1:21Speaker 3: Explain it.
- 1:21Speaker 4: What happened is that was at the very end of
- 1:24Speaker 4: the show, Dominique. And I'm not like you. I'm not
- 1:26Speaker 4: a volume shooter. I'm not meant to be talking 90%
- 1:30Speaker 4: of the day. I'm a corner specialist. I only want
- 1:33Speaker 4: like one or two shots a game.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Right. That's not true.
- 1:37Speaker 4: And I was put in a spot yesterday where I
- 1:39Speaker 4: had to shoot 50 times. And by the end, I
- 1:42Speaker 4: was just running on E.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Oh, gosh. They needed you to step up, but you
- 1:45Speaker 3: couldn't do it. You came at the biggest moment.
- 1:47Speaker 4: You choked.
- 1:48Speaker 5: I mean, calling me a volume shooter is kind of
- 1:51Speaker 5: an insult. Like, volume shooters, they got low percentage. Like,
- 1:55Speaker 5: I'm a volume shooter, and most of it is good. So,
- 1:58Speaker 5: chill out, Lance.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yes, a volume shooter generally means you're the guy taking
- 2:04Speaker 1: a ton of shots, and not many of them are
- 2:06Speaker 1: going in.
- 2:07Speaker 4: I mean... Yeah.
- 2:09Speaker 5: It's a suggestion that everybody else on your team doesn't
- 2:12Speaker 5: like you and kind of sucks.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:15Speaker 4: That's what you say about volume shooters.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:17Speaker 4: I'm not a volume shooter. I'm a superstar.
- 2:20Speaker 5: I think that's what you meant. A 1-1 you can
- 2:23Speaker 5: build the franchise around is, I think, what you were
- 2:25Speaker 5: looking for. You are a volume shooter.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Play it again. Six-man ass.
- 2:32Speaker 4: The old boat.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Mikey, how do you feel about Taylor saying he only
- 2:39Speaker 1: wants one to two shots a day?
- 2:41Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 2:42Speaker 4: I think that was probably the biggest lie on the show.
- 2:45Speaker 2: No doubt about it.
- 2:46Speaker 4: And we've heard some doozies. That's the worst.
- 2:48Speaker 5: The seventh man on the bench always talking about how
- 2:51Speaker 5: the coach don't let him get the ball. He won't
- 2:54Speaker 5: get no shots. If it was only his team, he
- 2:56Speaker 5: would put up big numbers.
- 2:58Speaker 4: G-League ass. Talking about me, the volume is huge.
- 3:00Speaker 5: You can't even say old ball coach.
- 3:06Speaker 2: One more time, please.
- 3:08Speaker 4: To get the old boat. The old boat?
- 3:10Speaker 2: What the fuck?
- 3:16Speaker 4: What was happening?
- 3:17Speaker 1: Did you try and say it with an accent?
- 3:20Speaker 4: Is that why you flubbed? Were you trying to say
- 3:22Speaker 4: it like an old ball coach? Were you trying to
- 3:25Speaker 4: do something? No, I wasn't trying to do an accent.
- 3:27Speaker 4: My tongue just got heavy on the first attempt. And
- 3:30Speaker 4: when I went to attempt the second one, I realized
- 3:32Speaker 4: I just didn't have it in my back.
- 3:35Speaker 5: So I, when I do make mistakes, rarely make mistakes.
- 3:40Speaker 5: When I do make mistakes, it's often because I'm thinking wrong.
- 3:43Speaker 5: of something different than what I'm trying to say. It's like,
- 3:47Speaker 5: I might be thinking of the next sentence or I
- 3:49Speaker 5: might be undecided between two similar words that mean the
- 3:53Speaker 5: same thing that you combine them. Like what, I want
- 3:56Speaker 5: to know what was going through your mind. Was there something,
- 3:58Speaker 5: or you just... Your tongue just gave up. It was like, nah,
- 4:01Speaker 5: we reached our limit. You have to tell your tongue,
- 4:05Speaker 5: not today.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I mean, you do.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I tapped out because, Dominique, that's a good theory
- 4:10Speaker 4: that you have. Be prepared what you're going to say next.
- 4:12Speaker 4: The problem with how my brain works, I don't know
- 4:15Speaker 4: what's coming next.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Mm-hmm, yeah. That's why we get along so well. I mean.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Oh, gosh.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, man.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Um, I have, uh, Taylor has told me here that
- 4:27Speaker 1: you were at a counting crows concert. Um, if he,
- 4:30Speaker 1: this was last week and if Taylor had asked me, Hey,
- 4:33Speaker 1: Dominique went to a concert last week, guess what concert
- 4:36Speaker 1: he went to.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Uh, I'd still be guessing. Okay.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Until the end of time, before I would land on
- 4:41Speaker 1: the counting crows, what are you doing at a counting
- 4:44Speaker 1: crows concert?
- 4:45Speaker 3: I had no idea.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Man, I'm a big fan of Shrek.
- 4:52Speaker 4: It was a friend of my wife's husband.
- 4:55Speaker 5: They're friends of mine now, too, but I met him
- 4:57Speaker 5: through his wife was having a big birthday party, like 50th,
- 5:02Speaker 5: I think, birthday party. And he's a big Counting Crows fan.
- 5:05Speaker 5: So he got Counting Crows to come and perform.
- 5:07Speaker 4: And I was there.
- 5:08Speaker 5: And on the way to the thing, it's like, I
- 5:11Speaker 5: don't know. I don't know Counting Crows songs, but they
- 5:13Speaker 5: all just like, Real chill music.
- 5:15Speaker 3: It was fine. I had no problem with it. It
- 5:17Speaker 3: was cool.
- 5:17Speaker 5: It was non-offensive. And then every song that came on
- 5:20Speaker 5: reminded me of, like, 90s TV and movies.
- 5:23Speaker 4: I was like, yeah.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I feel like I'm in an episode of Friends right now.
- 5:27Speaker 3: It was kind of dope.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Was it his birthday, did you say? A birthday?
- 5:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:32Speaker 4: It was his 50th birthday, I believe.
- 5:34Speaker 2: All right.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I don't want to offend a friend here, but it
- 5:36Speaker 1: seems like, I mean, that's a ridiculous ask. I mean,
- 5:39Speaker 1: inviting all your friends to a Counting Crows concert for
- 5:41Speaker 1: your 50th?
- 5:42Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 5:43Speaker 4: I thought it was the opposite.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Like we didn't have to pay.
- 5:46Speaker 5: He just, man, man threw a party at an arena
- 5:51Speaker 5: or I guess a amphitheater and told us all to
- 5:55Speaker 5: come for free. It was food, free drinks. And we
- 5:58Speaker 5: also get to see Counting Crows. Like, I don't know.
- 6:00Speaker 5: I thought it wasn't, it would be worse if the music,
- 6:04Speaker 5: the band they selected was like more of a like
- 6:08Speaker 5: niche band like tough yeah to have like a concert
- 6:12Speaker 5: and it's like some hard rock heavy metal stuff like
- 6:16Speaker 5: no like this is the perfect band i think for
- 6:20Speaker 5: a birthday party because like all the music like.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Yeah this is nice yeah yeah you're moving a little
- 6:25Speaker 1: bit yes yeah mr jones yeah exactly.
- 6:29Speaker 5: I could and all the songs sound kind of to
- 6:32Speaker 5: me at least kind of like the same it's like Unoffensive,
- 6:36Speaker 5: you listen to.
- 6:36Speaker 3: The words, you can get a little meaning out of it.
- 6:38Speaker 4: It can get you vibing a little bit. Like they're
- 6:41Speaker 4: all the opening to Dawson's Creek or something, right?
- 6:44Speaker 3: Damn.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Great show.
- 6:45Speaker 3: I'm a Pacey guy. I wasn't down with Dawson.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Big Pacey dude, personally. Pacey and Joey. Dawson and then
- 6:53Speaker 5: the blonde one, I ain't liking. They got on my nerves.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Me and Dominique went to a Green Day concert at
- 6:58Speaker 4: the Super Bowl. What? Me, Dominique, Charlie Kravitz, and Tyra Banks.
- 7:02Speaker 3: What?
- 7:04Speaker 5: The woman, do you remember that we went in, and
- 7:07Speaker 5: Gavin Newsom, you remember we went in and realized that
- 7:11Speaker 5: we weren't in the VIP. And you remember I went
- 7:14Speaker 5: back out and got us all wristbands. The woman who
- 7:18Speaker 5: gave me the wristbands was the wristband distributor at this concert.
- 7:23Speaker 4: And she remembered me and all that.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Wow.
- 7:27Speaker 5: Because I went to this concert with my wife, and
- 7:30Speaker 5: the woman jumped up, gave me a hug, and I
- 7:32Speaker 5: looked over.
- 7:33Speaker 2: At my wife.
- 7:33Speaker 4: I've never met this woman in my life. She's like,
- 7:37Speaker 4: you remember me from the Super Bowl? I'm like, no,
- 7:40Speaker 4: I don't.
- 7:40Speaker 3: I don't remember anything. Alpha, in life, what you doing?
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:44Speaker 4: But no, then I remembered her.
- 7:45Speaker 5: She was the one that hooked us up with those
- 7:48Speaker 5: wristbands that she told me. I got the top-tier wristbands
- 7:51Speaker 5: this time, so don't be upset.
- 7:52Speaker 4: That ain't what your wrist said.
- 7:55Speaker 2: How did Tyra Banks end up in this equation? How
- 7:57Speaker 2: did that happen?
- 7:59Speaker 5: It was a Super Bowl party, so there was a
- 8:00Speaker 5: bunch of people there, and we were in the VIP,
- 8:02Speaker 5: so we were between these types of people.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Because Lance is a VIP. Yep.
- 8:09Speaker 2: I apologize.
- 8:09Speaker 1: That's what Radio Row and Super Bowl week is all about.
- 8:12Speaker 1: You wind up at a concert with Tyra Banks.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yes. At Dominique Foxworth.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Exactly right.
- 8:18Speaker 4: No, I think my wife's going to come to the
- 8:20Speaker 4: next Super Bowl.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Really?
- 8:22Speaker 5: That young lady was a little too happy to see me.
- 8:24Speaker 5: She'll be at the next one.
- 8:26Speaker 3: She'll be at the next one. We're going to be
- 8:28Speaker 3: in L.A.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Hand in hand.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Not going to no parties. Going to dinner and to bed.
- 8:34Speaker 2: You are never going to a Super Bowl alone again,
- 8:36Speaker 2: my friend.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Never.
- 8:39Speaker 1: We'll get to the NFL in just a second, Dominique.
- 8:42Speaker 1: We had Mel Kiper Jr. on yesterday, and I want
- 8:45Speaker 1: to hear if you have a theory on this, okay?
- 8:47Speaker 1: So the interview started, he's been on with us several
- 8:50Speaker 1: times and the interview started and Mel was calling Taylor
- 8:54Speaker 1: by his correct name, Taylor. And then towards the end,
- 8:58Speaker 1: he kept calling him Lance. And we haven't stopped calling
- 9:02Speaker 1: him Lance since. Do you have a theory as to
- 9:05Speaker 1: what's going on there?
- 9:07Speaker 4: It's easy.
- 9:08Speaker 5: It's so obvious. And I'm going to send you guys something.
- 9:12Speaker 5: And I don't know if you can put it up
- 9:13Speaker 5: at some point or not, but I want you to
- 9:15Speaker 5: see this.
- 9:16Speaker 4: I want you to remember.
- 9:17Speaker 5: That Mel Kiper, he lives, eats, sleeps, breathes the draft.
- 9:24Speaker 5: And I think Mel Kiper looked at Taylor and saw
- 9:29Speaker 5: Trey Lance.
- 9:31Speaker 4: That's what I said. Look at the picture.
- 9:32Speaker 5: Look at the picture and the picture I sent in
- 9:35Speaker 5: the chat. Mel was like, he saw Trey Lance.
- 9:40Speaker 3: And was like, right?
- 9:43Speaker 4: Side by side, them boys.
- 9:45Speaker 3: See, right?
- 9:46Speaker 4: Dominique, this is something that I've gotten before. Not Trey Lance,
- 9:49Speaker 4: but anybody who looks even slightly racially ambiguous, everybody kind
- 9:54Speaker 4: of just says we all look alike.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Charlie and I had a debate. because he was like, no,
- 10:02Speaker 5: Taylor's white. I was like, no, Taylor's not white.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Taylor's black. And it's like, Charlie, come on, man. Like,
- 10:09Speaker 3: He got a little song.
- 10:10Speaker 4: He got some texture to him, man.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Stop it. He was like, but his last name.
- 10:15Speaker 4: I don't care about that.
- 10:17Speaker 3: That don't matter. That don't matter.
- 10:19Speaker 5: They was not going to give him no food at
- 10:21Speaker 5: the counter in Montgomery, Alabama.
- 10:26Speaker 3: I know that.
- 10:27Speaker 5: That was Greensboro, North Carolina, where they had the sit-ins.
- 10:31Speaker 3: He wasn't going to get no food.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Mm-hmm. See, we had a debate the other day. Are
- 10:35Speaker 4: they making white Marcuses? And now I'm wondering if they're
- 10:38Speaker 4: making black Vipulises.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:43Speaker 4: First of its kind. Yes. First of its kind.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Taylor, put it on the poll. Let's do got 790
- 10:47Speaker 1: at X.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Taylor, white or black? What a ridiculous thing.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Yes or no are the options.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I have told that Taylor is shocked here. He learned
- 11:01Speaker 1: something about you, Dominique. Um, we're going to find out
- 11:04Speaker 1: together what it is. It shocked him. Uh, Taylor, what'd
- 11:06Speaker 1: you learn?
- 11:08Speaker 4: You stole it. It was the counting crows.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Oh, that was it.
- 11:10Speaker 2: It was the counting crows. I thought it was something else.
- 11:12Speaker 4: I told you that in confidence. And you went to the,
- 11:14Speaker 4: you went to the podcast. Who's the volume shooter now?
- 11:21Speaker 4: I am so sorry. I didn't think it was that
- 11:25Speaker 4: big of a reveal.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I mean, I gotta be honest with you. Like, I mean,
- 11:29Speaker 1: I was shocked, but I wasn't that shocked, I guess,
- 11:31Speaker 1: is what I'm trying to say. Now when you paint
- 11:33Speaker 1: it as a birthday party for a friend of yours,
- 11:35Speaker 1: I mean, it's not as shocking. It's not like you
- 11:37Speaker 1: went on your own, purchased tickets, and, you.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Know, spent money to go there. You would never do that.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I might.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Next time, I'm a fan now.
- 11:43Speaker 4: It was rocking.
- 11:44Speaker 3: They reeled you in.
- 11:44Speaker 4: He's accidentally in love.
- 11:46Speaker 5: I mean, I feel like concerts that I go to,
- 11:50Speaker 5: that I would go to, I'm probably mid to lower
- 11:54Speaker 5: as far as the coolness rankings.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Yes. Yes.
- 11:56Speaker 5: If I start hitting up these cotton crows joints, I
- 11:59Speaker 5: got all the best moves.
- 12:00Speaker 2: I'm cool as mother. He's dancing.
- 12:18Speaker 1: The Dominique Foxworth show, wherever you get your podcasts.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Is it ridiculous?
- 12:24Speaker 2: Aaron Donald, what should we expect?
- 12:26Speaker 1: Because I find it to be ridiculous that this is
- 12:28Speaker 1: the season where we're saying Rams of the field because
- 12:30Speaker 1: that team on paper is that good, it's that talented.
- 12:33Speaker 1: What should we expect from Aaron Donald after taking a
- 12:36Speaker 1: couple of years off?
- 12:39Speaker 4: It's hard for.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Me to really pinpoint it. I think back to full
- 12:43Speaker 5: strength is unlikely. You can't expect him to be peak
- 12:48Speaker 5: Aaron Donald.
- 12:49Speaker 4: He retired at that.
- 12:50Speaker 5: The problem is the difference between peak Aaron Donald and
- 12:55Speaker 5: I don't know, 5% less, 10% less, 15% less. It's
- 12:59Speaker 5: still the best defensive tackle interior alignment in football. So
- 13:04Speaker 5: it's hard to imagine that he's going to come back
- 13:07Speaker 5: and not be effective.
- 13:08Speaker 3: I do think that like the stamina and all that stuff.
- 13:10Speaker 5: And maybe his body hasn't gotten, it's going to take
- 13:13Speaker 5: some time to get back used to like wear and
- 13:15Speaker 5: tear football. So it might take a second, but I,
- 13:19Speaker 5: I don't know. I have a hard time envisioning, especially
- 13:21Speaker 5: because he's not old yet. Just because he retired, he
- 13:24Speaker 5: had a couple years off. I have a hard time
- 13:25Speaker 5: envisioning him not being impactful, hugely impactful, when he gets
- 13:29Speaker 5: back to the Rams.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Would you take the Rams or the field if you
- 13:32Speaker 2: had to?
- 13:33Speaker 5: I always got, I mean, I'd take the field. There's like,
- 13:39Speaker 5: I mean, they have the situation where we don't know
- 13:41Speaker 5: what's going to happen with Puka Nakua. They have a
- 13:43Speaker 5: pretty fragile quarterback who also can be turnover prone in
- 13:47Speaker 5: certain situations, and And it's also football like things will happen.
- 13:52Speaker 4: They're in a tough division.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Last year, they missed the number one seed by that
- 13:58Speaker 5: ridiculous fumble into the end zone that got reviewed and overturned.
- 14:03Speaker 4: I felt like five minutes later.
- 14:05Speaker 5: So like these things can continue to happen and they
- 14:08Speaker 5: could come up short. I think football, you can never
- 14:10Speaker 5: take one team over the field.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Dominique, staying in the division, the 49ers have had the
- 14:15Speaker 4: most eventful offseason of all time. The Brandon Ayuk drama,
- 14:20Speaker 4: the Kyle Shanahan car crash, the owner getting arrested on
- 14:23Speaker 4: suspicion of engaging in prostitution in an Ohio trailer park,
- 14:27Speaker 4: and the highlight of them all this past week. The scammer,
- 14:31Speaker 4: Dajon Love. As a former NFL player yourself, are you
- 14:36Speaker 4: a bit offended that this guy was able to pass
- 14:38Speaker 4: himself off as an NFL caliber athlete and scam people
- 14:41Speaker 4: out of millions when you see those beach videos?
- 14:44Speaker 2: I'm so proud of him.
- 14:45Speaker 3: I mean, I got to be honest.
- 14:46Speaker 5: No, I'm not at all offended because this is the
- 14:50Speaker 5: argument I was having with Charlie is like, you don't
- 14:53Speaker 5: understand how scams work. If you think that he was
- 14:56Speaker 5: actually fooling people, like the way that scams work is
- 15:00Speaker 5: you shoot at these types of scams.
- 15:02Speaker 4: You shoot it out to a hundred people.
- 15:04Speaker 3: You only fool like 15 dummies.
- 15:07Speaker 5: Like he wasn't selling that to serious people. He was
- 15:10Speaker 5: catching women who live in the middle of nowhere, who
- 15:14Speaker 5: were like shocked and stunned and wanted to believe that
- 15:17Speaker 5: this guy, I promise you, if he was shooting at
- 15:20Speaker 5: big city people, they were like, what? You'll get out here,
- 15:25Speaker 5: they screenshot it and send it to their homegirls and laugh.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Right. A volume shooter of sorts, right? Nailed it.
- 15:34Speaker 4: He is a volume shooter. The big city people, they
- 15:37Speaker 4: have the depth charts memorized. Like, Dajon Love doesn't get
- 15:40Speaker 4: past their radar. I mean, I wouldn't think so.
- 15:43Speaker 5: I think, like, not just the big city people, but, like,
- 15:46Speaker 5: I think people make this into a thing where they
- 15:50Speaker 5: think that there is, like, all these women who are
- 15:54Speaker 5: like gold diggers and chasing athletes. Like I'm not saying
- 15:57Speaker 5: that they don't exist. Maybe they do exist. Most of
- 15:59Speaker 5: the time, what you end up finding is people who
- 16:01Speaker 5: just like, much like high school is like, these guys
- 16:04Speaker 5: are cool. I want to be around these guys because
- 16:06Speaker 5: they're cool and important. But if there are some, and
- 16:09Speaker 5: those are people that I came across, maybe I wasn't
- 16:11Speaker 5: successful enough for the true gold diggers to show up.
- 16:15Speaker 5: But my guess is, The real ones who know what
- 16:18Speaker 5: they're doing, they're not fooled by that for a second.
- 16:22Speaker 5: They know what a route looks like. They know what
- 16:24Speaker 5: a body's supposed to look like. They might know all
- 16:27Speaker 5: the starters for the team in their area. I guarantee
- 16:31Speaker 5: you that a real Instagram baddie, Not falling for that.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Seriously?
- 16:37Speaker 4: Not for a second.
- 16:38Speaker 3: They see him running routes on the sand.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Like, they might actually follow athletes.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Yes.
- 16:43Speaker 5: And they see how athletes look and how they behave
- 16:47Speaker 5: and what they actually do. And they are screenshotting that
- 16:50Speaker 5: and sending it to their girls.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Like, you see this idiot?
- 16:53Speaker 5: Out here running routes in his helmet on his sand
- 16:55Speaker 5: with a flat chest.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Yeah, right. You see him track that ball?
- 17:00Speaker 5: You see his boy take a snap from under center
- 17:02Speaker 5: the vertical way and throw it out?
- 17:04Speaker 4: Like, come on.
- 17:05Speaker 5: That dude ain't no real trainer. They know the same
- 17:07Speaker 5: way that you know that that shit was bullshit when
- 17:09Speaker 5: you saw it? They know it's bullshit when they see it.
- 17:11Speaker 1: If you haven't figured it out, by the time you
- 17:13Speaker 1: get to the video of him wearing a helmet on
- 17:15Speaker 1: the beach, you have to figure it out, right?
- 17:17Speaker 3: Yes.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:18Speaker 3: And then he's like.
- 17:21Speaker 5: I don't know if you saw the other videos where
- 17:23Speaker 5: he's talking about he owns portions.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Of Gucci stores and something. It's like, man, that's just
- 17:30Speaker 3: like common sense. That's on Saks Fifth Avenue.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Like, Saks Fifth Avenue is not a street. Fifth Avenue
- 17:37Speaker 4: is a street. Saks Fifth Avenue is a department store. Like,
- 17:39Speaker 4: what are you talking about?
- 17:40Speaker 2: Have you ever worn your helmet outside of the facility?
- 17:43Speaker 4: I mean.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Absolutely not.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Why would you?
- 17:46Speaker 3: The stadium and at work.
- 17:48Speaker 4: That's it.
- 17:49Speaker 2: That's it.
- 17:50Speaker 4: Like, practice... Games. Only time you put a damn helmet on.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Carrying it around?
- 17:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Crazy. Is Bill Belichick back? Mikey's shaking his head.
- 18:04Speaker 4: He's back.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Right now.
- 18:05Speaker 5: He's back.
- 18:05Speaker 2: He's back.
- 18:06Speaker 4: We'll see what happens.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Next week, whoever he's got next week, when they get
- 18:09Speaker 5: into conference play, we'll see how back he is.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Well, Taylor loves this week because he's off this week,
- 18:14Speaker 1: so he gets to be 1-0 for a couple of weeks.
- 18:16Speaker 3: How about that?
- 18:16Speaker 2: Nice. Congratulations, T.G. I'm Lance. Trey Lance.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Which coach, Dominique, do you think has, I love this
- 18:27Speaker 1: because it's preseason football and we just can't get to
- 18:29Speaker 1: the season soon enough, but which coach, I'm sure you've
- 18:32Speaker 1: been asked this a thousand times, by Mike Greenberg alone
- 18:35Speaker 1: on Get Up, Which coach?
- 18:37Speaker 4: Zach Taylor.
- 18:39Speaker 1: The coach with the most pressure is Zach Taylor. How
- 18:41Speaker 1: is Zach Taylor the most tenured coach in that division?
- 18:43Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 18:45Speaker 3: It is amazing.
- 18:46Speaker 5: But, yeah, I think that they– I guess the organization
- 18:51Speaker 5: also doesn't really like to spend money. So I'll have
- 18:53Speaker 5: to look and see how much he got on his contract,
- 18:55Speaker 5: how much they would have to pay him to go
- 18:56Speaker 5: away to see if he's actually under any pressure.
- 18:59Speaker 4: But, I mean, it depends.
- 19:00Speaker 5: That question is– It's a great question because you can
- 19:03Speaker 5: answer it three different ways, which you might have to
- 19:05Speaker 5: over the course of the offseason.
- 19:06Speaker 4: So, like, right now, I might say Sean McVay under
- 19:09Speaker 4: the most pressure.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Sure.
- 19:10Speaker 5: Because he's got all his talent around. There's a lot
- 19:12Speaker 5: of pressure on him. I could go ahead and say
- 19:16Speaker 5: that Joe Brady, most pressure. It seemed like they cleaned
- 19:19Speaker 5: out a successful coach in order to maybe get further.
- 19:23Speaker 5: If you don't actually get further or get to the
- 19:24Speaker 5: Super Bowl or conference championship at least, then we're looking
- 19:27Speaker 5: like maybe this was the wrong decision. A lot of
- 19:30Speaker 5: pressure for a lot of different people. And we're getting
- 19:32Speaker 5: close to the season.
- 19:33Speaker 3: I can stop making it up.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Dominique, you know it's preseason because there's a lot of
- 19:38Speaker 4: buzz right now around this Cowboys team. Is Caleb Downs
- 19:41Speaker 4: good enough to immediately transform this Cowboys defense?
- 19:46Speaker 3: I mean, it's not just him, though.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Like they've gotten a new coordinator they brought in Malachi
- 19:51Speaker 5: Lawrence of course Quinn and Williams had an offseason um
- 19:54Speaker 5: was the Rashad uh is at the the defensive end
- 19:58Speaker 5: to go opposite maybe Malachi Lawrence on those passing downs
- 20:02Speaker 5: um it's a lot of bodies that I think Caleb
- 20:04Speaker 5: Downs is the most interesting and exciting because he was
- 20:06Speaker 5: drafted pretty highly and He seemed like in the preseason
- 20:10Speaker 5: and in the training camp stuff, he seems like he's
- 20:12Speaker 5: even better than we thought he was.
- 20:14Speaker 4: He's shown some.
- 20:14Speaker 5: Versatility and man coverage that I didn't think that he
- 20:17Speaker 5: had before. So I think he and these other guys
- 20:19Speaker 5: are good enough to make this team a serious contender
- 20:22Speaker 5: in the NFC.
- 20:23Speaker 4: I was thinking about this with Caleb Downs and Josh Downs.
- 20:26Speaker 4: If you could build an NFL team. I said Rashad.
- 20:27Speaker 4: I meant Rashawn Gary. Sorry. My bad.
- 20:30Speaker 2: That's all right. Preseason, man.
- 20:34Speaker 4: With Caleb Downs and Josh Downs, Dominique, if you could
- 20:36Speaker 4: build an NFL team around any pair of brothers in
- 20:40Speaker 4: NFL history, which duo would you choose? I had a
- 20:43Speaker 4: short list of Travis and Jason Kelsey, JJ and TJ Watt,
- 20:48Speaker 4: Tiki and Rondé Barber, and then Peyton and Eli Manning,
- 20:51Speaker 4: where you just bench Eli. Well, I mean, you got it.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Unless he's playing the Patriots. Unless he's playing the Patriots.
- 21:01Speaker 5: I feel like the Brady brothers, or it's the Brady brothers,
- 21:04Speaker 5: that would be nice if there was a Brady receiver.
- 21:07Speaker 3: But there is a Manning receiver, but he had a
- 21:10Speaker 3: neck issue, right?
- 21:11Speaker 4: Cooper was spared.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Yes. I think he was the only 1,000-yard receiver at
- 21:13Speaker 3: their high school.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Until Odell Beckham came and then became another 1,000-yard receiver.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Archer's dad, yes.
- 21:20Speaker 5: I was thinking of the Bailey brothers, Champ and Boss.
- 21:23Speaker 5: They got the best names of any brothers in the NFL.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Champ's the greatest corner ever. Boss was a really good linebacker,
- 21:29Speaker 5: but not quite as good. I feel like you can't
- 21:31Speaker 5: beat the Watts, though. Like, you can have them both
- 21:34Speaker 5: on the field at the same time, and they're both
- 21:37Speaker 5: unblockable when healthy.
- 21:38Speaker 4: That's a good foundation.
- 21:40Speaker 5: I guess Tiki and Rondy on both sides, but I
- 21:43Speaker 5: don't know that either of them are as impactful as
- 21:47Speaker 5: one Watt brother.
- 21:48Speaker 4: So, yeah, I think we go with the Watts.
- 21:49Speaker 5: The Bosses?
- 21:49Speaker 2: The Harbaughs? Oh, Bosses. How about the Harbaughs? The Blackwood brothers.
- 21:53Speaker 3: How about that?
- 21:53Speaker 2: I mean, the Killer Bees.
- 21:55Speaker 3: How about that?
- 21:56Speaker 5: Hmm? I had a joke for the bosses, and then
- 22:00Speaker 5: you went black, and I was like, all right, beat
- 22:02Speaker 5: me to it.
- 22:03Speaker 2: No, I want to hear your bossing joke.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I know we messed up the timing here.
- 22:07Speaker 5: If I chose them, I'm not sure that they would
- 22:09Speaker 5: want me to choose them, so that's all.
- 22:12Speaker 2: NOSA.
- 22:15Speaker 3: The NOSA brothers.
- 22:16Speaker 2: All right, Taylor, you had a follow-up there?
- 22:21Speaker 4: No, that was the follow-up.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Oh, that was your follow-up?
- 22:23Speaker 3: That was your follow-up.
- 22:24Speaker 1: So, Dominic, I want to ask you here because I
- 22:27Speaker 1: was ranting about Lane Kiffin yesterday because I don't believe
- 22:32Speaker 1: a single word that comes out of that. No. If
- 22:34Speaker 1: he says hello, I think he's lying. If he says
- 22:37Speaker 1: it's sunny, it's raining. If he says it's raining, it's
- 22:39Speaker 1: sunny out. Do you think all the players, he came
- 22:43Speaker 1: out and said he had a team meeting and all
- 22:45Speaker 1: the players were okay with him bringing in professional players
- 22:50Speaker 1: to take their positions, to take their snaps and their
- 22:52Speaker 1: playing time, and said all the players are okay with it,
- 22:54Speaker 1: they just want to win a championship.
- 22:56Speaker 2: You buying that?
- 22:57Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure that there are plenty of players.
- 23:02Speaker 5: So he said he talked to, like, the leadership council, which, like,
- 23:05Speaker 5: I was a part of those when I was in college.
- 23:07Speaker 5: It's a selection of the star players normally who are, like,
- 23:11Speaker 5: juniors and seniors, and it's a way for the head
- 23:14Speaker 5: coach to be able to, like, prep his decisions that
- 23:18Speaker 5: he's going to make anyway and be able to say, like,
- 23:21Speaker 5: I talked to this group.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Like, we don't have no actual power. We can't change anything.
- 23:25Speaker 5: And I'm sure that's exactly what happened is he probably
- 23:29Speaker 5: didn't meet with those guys after all the controversy and
- 23:32Speaker 5: was like, hey, we got these guys coming in.
- 23:34Speaker 4: You okay with that?
- 23:35Speaker 3: He's like, sure, whatever. Is it going to make us better?
- 23:37Speaker 3: And he's like, yeah, the whole team believes it.
- 23:40Speaker 2: If the whole team said no.
- 23:41Speaker 4: We'll see what happens if they start to lose.
- 23:42Speaker 5: Right.
- 23:42Speaker 1: If the whole team said no, we're not okay with it.
- 23:45Speaker 1: he'd still be bringing in those players.
- 23:47Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 23:50Speaker 5: I wonder if he excluded the tight ends room. I
- 23:56Speaker 5: want to have a team meeting.
- 23:57Speaker 4: No tight ends.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I have a bold NFL take.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I want to share with you and get your thoughts
- 24:04Speaker 1: on it because we have to make bold NFL takes.
- 24:07Speaker 2: And you know, all the teams.
- 24:08Speaker 1: That made the playoffs last year are not going to
- 24:11Speaker 1: make the playoffs this year. And teams who didn't make
- 24:13Speaker 1: the playoffs this year are going to make the playoffs
- 24:16Speaker 1: this year who didn't make it last year. I have Seattle, Seattle,
- 24:21Speaker 1: not making it to the playoffs. How do you feel
- 24:23Speaker 1: about that?
- 24:25Speaker 3: That's a quality bold take.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 24:27Speaker 5: I mean, they, they, they're returning a lot of their players,
- 24:31Speaker 5: which makes it hard to, to agree with that take altogether,
- 24:35Speaker 5: but it's good because it's, I assume that you're hanging
- 24:39Speaker 5: it on Sam Darnold, who, while we remember him as
- 24:43Speaker 5: a Super Bowl champion and we remember him having a
- 24:45Speaker 5: great game in the playoffs against the Rams, kind of
- 24:47Speaker 5: had a bit of an up-and-down year where.
- 24:50Speaker 4: It wasn't all beautiful the whole time.
- 24:52Speaker 5: So, like, I think that would be the argument, is
- 24:54Speaker 5: that Sam Darnold is not going to be able to
- 24:59Speaker 5: hold it together all season long and returning, or I
- 25:02Speaker 5: guess they... Witten got Jadarian Price to be the running back,
- 25:07Speaker 5: but losing Charbonnetta Injury and Walker to free agency, maybe
- 25:12Speaker 5: the offense won't be as effective.
- 25:13Speaker 3: So, yeah, it's not a terrible take.
- 25:15Speaker 4: And that division is hard as hell.
- 25:16Speaker 3: It's a pretty good take.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Yep.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I didn't put that much thought into it. I just said, oh,
- 25:19Speaker 1: Super Bowl champion. I don't know if they're any good.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I like this as a challenge, though.
- 25:24Speaker 5: You should start doing this where you just, like, make
- 25:27Speaker 5: some shit up and then see if somebody can construct
- 25:30Speaker 5: an argument around it.
- 25:32Speaker 3: And, like, you don't answer.
- 25:32Speaker 5: You're just like, hey– I think the Browns are going
- 25:35Speaker 5: to make the playoffs. And then when they look at
- 25:37Speaker 5: you like crazy, think about it.
- 25:39Speaker 4: And then you.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Challenge them to use their football acumen. I like it.
- 25:44Speaker 5: We got a new segment called Make It Make Sense.
- 25:46Speaker 5: And you don't have to do any research. You don't
- 25:48Speaker 5: have to think about anything. You say some bullshit and
- 25:51Speaker 5: tell somebody.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Make it make sense.
- 25:53Speaker 2: It debuts tonight.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Dominic, that's why you're great, because you bring the nuance
- 25:58Speaker 4: to the conversation, even when Stu comes with a ridiculous take.
- 26:00Speaker 2: It's not ridiculous.
- 26:01Speaker 4: That defense can stumble their way to 11 wins this year.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Defense is really, really, really good.
- 26:08Speaker 5: But you would say, which Stu knows, the reason why
- 26:11Speaker 5: he brought this up was because defense is less sticky
- 26:15Speaker 5: than offense. Everyone knows this in the advanced analytics community.
- 26:18Speaker 5: They know that offense from year to year is probably
- 26:20Speaker 5: going to be pretty close to the same, but defense
- 26:23Speaker 5: from year to year can swing, and something like turnovers
- 26:25Speaker 5: can make that happen. Different calls in a game, the
- 26:29Speaker 5: way it's reffed, can make it happen.
- 26:30Speaker 4: But defenses aren't often.
- 26:33Speaker 5: repeat like the Vikings are one that's done it for
- 26:35Speaker 5: a good stretch there that continue to stay at the top.
- 26:38Speaker 5: But oftentimes defenses fall back a lot further than offenses do.
- 26:42Speaker 5: So their defense last year was so incredible, even though
- 26:45Speaker 5: they're bringing back most of their players. I think they
- 26:47Speaker 5: lost Reek and Kobe off that defense. But even if
- 26:53Speaker 5: the defense was back in better than it was before,
- 26:56Speaker 5: there's a chance that it takes a step back in
- 26:58Speaker 5: a way that offenses don't.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Do you have a bold take for the upcoming season here?
- 27:02Speaker 2: Just a bowl. I'll try to make sense of it
- 27:03Speaker 2: if I can.
- 27:04Speaker 5: But I mean, I think the the Tampa Bay Bucs
- 27:08Speaker 5: are going to be NFC contenders.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Anyone can win that division. Baker Mayfield.
- 27:14Speaker 3: No, not even.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I was trying to make sense of your take. You
- 27:18Speaker 1: threw shit against the wall and I was trying to
- 27:19Speaker 1: make sense of it. Division Baker Mayfield, best quarterback in
- 27:22Speaker 1: that division. Tampa Bay has a talented team. Good roster.
- 27:26Speaker 1: People would be surprised just how good that roster is.
- 27:28Speaker 4: Right.
- 27:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I want to put a few more details behind it,
- 27:33Speaker 5: but that's the general consensus. Like, they had a lot
- 27:36Speaker 5: of injuries last year. Their O-line is actually one of
- 27:38Speaker 5: the best in football. When healthy, Baker Mayfield has had
- 27:41Speaker 5: the ability to come through.
- 27:42Speaker 3: In the clutch from time to time.
- 27:44Speaker 5: And then they had Reuben Bain fall to him in
- 27:46Speaker 5: the draft, and he seems like he's going to be
- 27:48Speaker 5: like a blue chip player.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Real all pro level type of pass rusher.
- 27:51Speaker 5: You put them next to Vita Bale, who's enormous, but
- 27:54Speaker 5: also an incredible pass rusher. And Kalyza Kenzie and Diaby
- 27:58Speaker 5: is a great pass rusher. You have a D line
- 28:00Speaker 5: that I think makes it really hard for teams to
- 28:02Speaker 5: pass against. And the question is, are they going to
- 28:06Speaker 5: be able to run the ball with Bucky Irvin and
- 28:08Speaker 5: a healthy O-line? I think the answer is yes, which
- 28:10Speaker 5: makes their passing game, I think, a little bit better.
- 28:12Speaker 5: And we saw Ibuka kind of emerged early in the
- 28:15Speaker 5: season last year and fall off as the season went along.
- 28:17Speaker 4: As other injuries happened, he had to move around.
- 28:19Speaker 5: I think that he'll be more stable in this year's system,
- 28:23Speaker 5: and he'll have an incredible– well, not incredible. He'll have
- 28:26Speaker 5: a productive season, and that team will be competitive. To
- 28:29Speaker 5: your point, where you started, that division isn't particularly strong,
- 28:32Speaker 5: so they have those six games as some support.
- 28:36Speaker 2: He's so good at this. You called him a volume shooter.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Jesus Christ.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Freaking Lance.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Dominique, I'm disappointed we didn't get your Kyler Murray, there's
- 28:46Speaker 4: a path for him to win MVP, bold take.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 28:50Speaker 4: There is a path for him to win MVP. There's
- 28:52Speaker 4: a path for everybody to win MVP, then.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Yes.
- 28:54Speaker 3: All right, well, I challenge you, Taylor.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Make it make sense.
- 28:57Speaker 3: There's a path for Kyler Murray to win MVP.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Make it make sense. I can see it, actually.
- 29:01Speaker 3: You don't get to laugh your way out of it.
- 29:05Speaker 3: There's a path for him to win MVP.
- 29:06Speaker 2: By the way, he's not talking to me. He's talking
- 29:08Speaker 2: to Taylor. He wants Taylor to explain it. Make it
- 29:10Speaker 2: make sense. Who is Taylor?
- 29:12Speaker 4: Kevin O'Connell, quarterback whisperer. Kyler Murray throws for 400 yards
- 29:17Speaker 4: every game and five total touchdowns every game. That's his path.
- 29:21Speaker 2: He didn't make sense of it.
- 29:23Speaker 3: I mean, you didn't even mention Justin Jefferson.
- 29:27Speaker 5: How could you not even mention the best receiver in football?
- 29:32Speaker 5: You said nothing about Christian Derrishaw being healthy this year.
- 29:36Speaker 5: You didn't even mention that this defense is one of
- 29:38Speaker 5: the defenses that's immune. to regression because Brian Flores runs
- 29:42Speaker 5: this ridiculous blitz scheme and is going to create turnovers
