- 0:07Speaker 1: Hi, this is Doug Jones from the Oscar-winning movie The
- 0:10Speaker 1: Shape of Water.
- 0:11Speaker 2: But right now, you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Movie Meltdown.
- 0:29Speaker 2: It's showtime.
- 0:30Speaker 4: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:33Speaker 4: Picture Association of America.
- 0:35Speaker 5: It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:40Speaker 6: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:14Speaker 7: What's up?
- 1:17Speaker 2: Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:30Speaker 8: I'm Misty.
- 1:31Speaker 5: And I'm Jay.
- 1:31Speaker 2: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from Lexington.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yay!
- 1:35Speaker 2: Home of the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention.
- 1:37Speaker 8: Yay! So.
- 1:40Speaker 2: It's been a long time since you guys have been on.
- 1:42Speaker 8: I know. There was like holidays and stuff.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I mean, we usually miss you for the holidays because
- 1:46Speaker 1: Misty shuts down during holiday season.
- 1:48Speaker 8: And then I was sick. I've been sick.
- 1:50Speaker 2: It's been a long stretch.
- 1:52Speaker 8: Allergies suck. And then I had a sinus infection and
- 1:54Speaker 8: that just wasn't awesome. And nobody wants to hear me
- 1:57Speaker 8: talk with a sinus infection. There was crying, literal tears
- 2:01Speaker 8: of pain.
- 2:02Speaker 2: What about the fear?
- 2:03Speaker 1: We do many a horror story.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Movie on this show.
- 2:07Speaker 1: How about the fear that set in when you bought
- 2:10Speaker 1: a neti pot?
- 2:11Speaker 8: Oh my good god damn. You don't even know. I've
- 2:13Speaker 8: been terrified of neti pots. I've like, I've always said
- 2:18Speaker 8: I will never do that. Because just the idea of
- 2:21Speaker 8: pouring water up my nose, that just seems like torture.
- 2:23Speaker 8: Into your brain.
- 2:25Speaker 2: It might just roll up into your brain. It seems
- 2:27Speaker 2: like a terrible idea.
- 2:28Speaker 8: And I literally have no idea how it works. Because
- 2:30Speaker 8: in my head I'm just like, how does it clean?
- 2:32Speaker 8: It just goes in one eye at the other. How
- 2:34Speaker 8: is it like functioning on.
- 2:36Speaker 2: What if it gets lost and comes out your eyes
- 2:37Speaker 2: and shit?
- 2:38Speaker 9: Dude.
- 2:39Speaker 8: I'm more terrified of brain-eating bacteria. Or the whole amoebas
- 2:44Speaker 8: and whatnot. Because it happens.
- 2:46Speaker 1: You're bound to have plenty of those roaming around in
- 2:48Speaker 1: there anyway. But you don't need to multiply them.
- 2:50Speaker 8: Boyfriend's like, well, it could be useful. Because you could
- 2:52Speaker 8: get a smart amoeba that could help you when we
- 2:54Speaker 8: watch Jeopardy. And I'm like, bitch, please. I'm already pretty
- 2:57Speaker 8: smart when we watch Jeopardy. I don't need an amoeba
- 2:59Speaker 8: to help me. That's cheating.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Team amoeba.
- 3:03Speaker 5: I am.
- 3:03Speaker 8: I'm like terrified. So it was to the point where
- 3:05Speaker 8: I was so desperate, like so desperate. I'm like, I'm
- 3:10Speaker 8: going to buy a neti pot. We're going to do this.
- 3:12Speaker 8: It's going to fucking help. It didn't do shit. And
- 3:15Speaker 8: let me tell you, it says to start off with
- 3:17Speaker 8: one little packet of the saline stuff. You're just putting
- 3:20Speaker 8: salt water up your nose. Salt water.
- 3:22Speaker 2: It's like the ocean inside your head.
- 3:24Speaker 8: Yeah, that's a great idea.
- 3:26Speaker 10: Okay.
- 3:26Speaker 8: So the first day I'm like, I did it three
- 3:28Speaker 8: times with one salt, little things in there. It's not
- 3:31Speaker 8: table salt or anything. And it's like, you work your
- 3:34Speaker 8: way up and soon you can do two packages. I'm like, dude,
- 3:36Speaker 8: fuck this. We're going all in. I put two of
- 3:42Speaker 8: those little saline packets in the neti pot at the
- 3:44Speaker 8: end of my first day. I thought the inside of
- 3:47Speaker 8: my head was on fire. There was burning. There were
- 3:51Speaker 8: more tears. There was snot. It was not necessarily helpful,
- 3:54Speaker 8: productive snot. And it was just, it was crying and
- 3:58Speaker 8: it was bubbles and it was.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I mean, you start off with salt. Can you, like,
- 4:02Speaker 2: move up? Can you get into pepper? I want some, like,
- 4:04Speaker 2: coarse ground pepper.
- 4:06Speaker 8: There is, like, an option for garlic. And I'm just like, no.
- 4:09Speaker 1: No, no, no. You do love eating cloves of garlic.
- 4:14Speaker 8: That is, like... It's not worse than when he's like, here,
- 4:16Speaker 8: drink this. And it's watered down fucking apple cider vinegar.
- 4:20Speaker 8: And I literally... I've never almost predicted I've vomited before
- 4:23Speaker 8: in my entire life. But this is the closest I've
- 4:25Speaker 8: ever came. There was flailing. There was literally flailing. I
- 4:28Speaker 8: was like.
- 4:31Speaker 8: It was for the arms, and there was a face,
- 4:34Speaker 8: and it was just.
- 4:35Speaker 2: If you're just tuning in, this is Misty's Home Remedies.
- 4:38Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Be sure to try all of these.
- 4:40Speaker 8: I told everybody at work, and they were like, are
- 4:43Speaker 8: you sure he likes you?
- 4:44Speaker 11: Yeah, these are actually my home remedies.
- 4:47Speaker 8: Yeah, but you like this shit. You eat cloves of
- 4:50Speaker 8: garlic by the cloves, for fuck's sakes. You just plop
- 4:54Speaker 8: it in there, and you're good to go.
- 4:55Speaker 11: Well, it gets rid of the sore throat, and it
- 4:58Speaker 11: keeps me from getting sick every year. No sinus infections,
- 5:02Speaker 11: no flu or colds.
- 5:05Speaker 1: As I've told you, my system knows I'm too broke
- 5:09Speaker 1: to take it to a hospital or a doctor.
- 5:11Speaker 2: So it knows it'll just die, so it fights off
- 5:13Speaker 2: all infections.
- 5:14Speaker 8: Well, I figured I would terrify myself into it and
- 5:16Speaker 8: be like, you know what? We don't want to go
- 5:18Speaker 8: through this again. Keep your shit in check. Do you
- 5:21Speaker 8: want Misty to eat garlic again?
- 5:22Speaker 2: No.
- 5:23Speaker 8: Then you better not get a sinus infection. Do you
- 5:25Speaker 8: want to have to have water poured up your nose? Fucking...
- 5:28Speaker 8: Chinese water torture? Nobody likes that. Some people swear by it.
- 5:32Speaker 8: Some people swear.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Sometimes you gotta scare your immune system into check. You
- 5:36Speaker 1: gotta just keep that shit in check with fear and intimidation.
- 5:40Speaker 8: I tried to fight this shit naturally and it didn't work.
- 5:42Speaker 8: I had to go to the doctor.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I mean, antibiotics are good and all, but they won't
- 5:48Speaker 1: let me have them normally. Like, if I could just
- 5:50Speaker 1: score some amoxicillin on the side, like, I'm always in, like,
- 5:53Speaker 1: dark alleys going, yo, yo, you gotta eat some amoxicillin.
- 5:56Speaker 2: And they're like, Dude, get out of here. What the
- 5:58Speaker 2: fuck's wrong with you?
- 5:59Speaker 8: But, yeah, that was not awesome. That was not a
- 6:03Speaker 8: good time. Good times were not ahead. So, yeah. All right.
- 6:08Speaker 1: So that's why Misty's been absent.
- 6:11Speaker 2: She was dying.
- 6:12Speaker 8: I died a little bit.
- 6:14Speaker 2: We all die a little bit every day. But today's
- 6:18Speaker 2: been great because we saw stuff.
- 6:21Speaker 8: We did see stuff. I bought some stuff. I bought
- 6:22Speaker 8: some enamel pens. Imagine that.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I saw so many I needed, but I don't need.
- 6:28Speaker 8: I kept my shit in check.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I still don't have anything to do with them yet,
- 6:32Speaker 1: so I'm trying to control myself specifically until I get
- 6:35Speaker 1: my corkboard plan together.
- 6:37Speaker 8: My corkboard's almost full.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Every geek in the world has to have a corkboard
- 6:41Speaker 1: situation going now because they make so many cool enamel pins.
- 6:44Speaker 8: I think I only bought three today, I think. Hold on.
- 6:49Speaker 4: All right.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You were setting a tally when we started, and you
- 6:52Speaker 1: were going for a goal of some sort.
- 6:54Speaker 8: Butt cheeks.
- 6:55Speaker 2: How many did you count?
- 6:57Speaker 8: Actually, I did not see that many butt cheeks today.
- 6:59Speaker 8: I thought we were set for good because, I mean,
- 7:01Speaker 8: within the first five minutes, I saw like a, it
- 7:03Speaker 8: was not Sailor Moon, but one of the moon.
- 7:06Speaker 10: You saw the moon.
- 7:08Speaker 8: There was an eclipse, I guess. I don't know. There
- 7:10Speaker 8: was a butt cheek.
- 7:10Speaker 7: There was a full moon.
- 7:11Speaker 8: I'm like.
- 7:13Speaker 1: See, does it count if there probably would be, but
- 7:17Speaker 1: there was a cape involved? Because it was only when
- 7:20Speaker 1: they moved that I was like, well, you're barely wearing
- 7:23Speaker 1: pants of any sort.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Because you're Robin.
- 7:26Speaker 1: But there was a long enough yellow cape that it
- 7:29Speaker 1: was covering pretty much the whole business until you got
- 7:32Speaker 1: like a side cheek action. But other than that, they
- 7:35Speaker 1: pretty much covered.
- 7:36Speaker 2: It with the cape.
- 7:37Speaker 8: I think that counts.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 7:39Speaker 8: It's a tough call.
- 7:41Speaker 2: So what was your running total?
- 7:42Speaker 8: I only saw the one that we first saw when
- 7:44Speaker 8: we got there.
- 7:45Speaker 2: That's crazy. I know.
- 7:46Speaker 8: I thought we were going to have a high count.
- 7:48Speaker 8: Because like I said, we weren't even there 10 minutes.
- 7:51Speaker 8: And there was some butt cheeks. And I'm just like.
- 7:52Speaker 11: I didn't see anybody's butt cheeks.
- 7:54Speaker 8: I pointed them out to you.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Did you?
- 7:55Speaker 11: I didn't see them.
- 7:56Speaker 7: Smooth.
- 7:57Speaker 8: I'm like, look, butt cheeks.
- 8:00Speaker 1: So we're not counting that doll bin that we were
- 8:03Speaker 1: digging through?
- 8:03Speaker 8: No, we didn't count that.
- 8:04Speaker 1: All right.
- 8:05Speaker 8: Even though you were with her fondling them all weird like.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I mean, I was looking for my favorite one, but
- 8:09Speaker 2: they didn't have it.
- 8:10Speaker 11: Jerks.
- 8:12Speaker 8: That one is pretty cool.
- 8:13Speaker 2: That one is cool. I do want a skeleton doll,
- 8:15Speaker 2: you know.
- 8:16Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 8:16Speaker 2: If you're going to have a doll. That's the only
- 8:18Speaker 2: kind I want is one made out of bones.
- 8:19Speaker 8: I do have several of the Monster High dolls. They
- 8:21Speaker 8: are pretty cool.
- 8:23Speaker 7: Yep.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Day of the Dead girl. That's the way to go. Yeah.
- 8:26Speaker 8: But yeah, I always enjoy the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention.
- 8:30Speaker 2: That is where we are right now.
- 8:32Speaker 8: I had to look at the bass.
- 8:33Speaker 2: We're on the outskirts of it. Basking in our toy
- 8:36Speaker 2: and comic glory.
- 8:37Speaker 8: And I got to say, I am impressed with the
- 8:39Speaker 8: way that they fixed things this year because last year
- 8:41Speaker 8: they had some problems.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I mean, it was pretty well set up in general,
- 8:44Speaker 1: both last year. Last year they.
- 8:46Speaker 8: Had some problems.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Because I think even at the time we addressed it.
- 8:50Speaker 1: But the fact that even then, there was one of
- 8:52Speaker 1: the workers going, you know, this is the first year
- 8:54Speaker 1: we've done it this way.
- 8:55Speaker 2: We're watching this.
- 8:57Speaker 1: We're trying to take everything into consideration. Because I think
- 9:00Speaker 1: even from Saturday to Sunday, they'd already corrected a lot
- 9:03Speaker 1: of the stuff. So even last year, they started learning
- 9:06Speaker 1: from their mistakes and fixing stuff.
- 9:08Speaker 8: Which I find impressive because there are some conventions out
- 9:10Speaker 8: there that still to this day.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Shall remain nameless, but.
- 9:12Speaker 8: Still to this day cannot learn from their mistakes.
- 9:16Speaker 1: It kills me sometimes how badly put together conventions can be.
- 9:20Speaker 1: And sometimes from people that have been doing it for years.
- 9:22Speaker 1: So it is frustrating when you see that. Where these guys,
- 9:25Speaker 1: I mean, again, I said last year, I don't think
- 9:28Speaker 1: it was a bad idea.
- 9:29Speaker 2: They kind of put all the celebrities in one place.
- 9:32Speaker 1: If you haven't been to the Lexington compound, it is
- 9:36Speaker 1: everything jammed into one center. So it is like, if
- 9:39Speaker 1: you're familiar with the Wildcats, there is a basketball stadium
- 9:42Speaker 1: built in there with tons of seating. And then there's
- 9:45Speaker 1: also a convention center and a hotel and restaurants and
- 9:49Speaker 1: food courts and all that stuff. So everything is kind
- 9:51Speaker 1: of crammed into one place. And they took all the
- 9:53Speaker 1: celebrities and put them in the basketball area, more or less,
- 9:57Speaker 1: which again is its.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Own isolated little area.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It has tons of seats for slacker you know geeks
- 10:03Speaker 1: to go up there and just kind of hang out
- 10:04Speaker 1: up in the top area.
- 10:05Speaker 8: And stare at the celebrities all creepy.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Yeah so it's not it's not a bad idea actually
- 10:09Speaker 1: they just were figuring out the layout last year where
- 10:12Speaker 1: this year it's all together.
- 10:13Speaker 8: That's what I'm saying. It's like, I like that they
- 10:15Speaker 8: actually learned, you know, and they got their shit straight
- 10:18Speaker 8: and it is a lot, it's a lot more. I mean,
- 10:20Speaker 8: like I said, last year was their first year doing
- 10:22Speaker 8: it like that. So yeah, there might be some wrinkles
- 10:25Speaker 8: and it was a little bit of a clusterfuck for
- 10:26Speaker 8: a minute, but they did fix it.
- 10:28Speaker 2: By the next day, they already fixed most of the problems.
- 10:32Speaker 8: Even while we were there, they were attempting to like, you.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Know, situating things and rerouting people. And I mean, it
- 10:38Speaker 2: is a.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Nightmare when you think about the amount of people crammed
- 10:41Speaker 1: into one building and And then the fact that they're
- 10:44Speaker 1: all involved in this one event and everything has to
- 10:47Speaker 1: be coordinated.
- 10:48Speaker 8: So I do think a big major factor this year too,
- 10:51Speaker 8: is that they capped the attendance.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 8: They were not selling tickets today.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Well, they sold out.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Like they knew how many they could deal with. They
- 10:58Speaker 1: sold every one of them beforehand and they were like,
- 11:01Speaker 1: that's it. You guys were come, come cash in on
- 11:03Speaker 1: the ones you already bought. We're not selling more stuff
- 11:05Speaker 1: to people than overselling and cramming people in there and
- 11:09Speaker 1: having to shut it down, the fire codes and whatnot.
- 11:11Speaker 2: And like, It definitely made a difference.
- 11:13Speaker 8: Yeah. It's like, it seems to me that, I mean,
- 11:15Speaker 8: I hate to say it, but there could have been
- 11:16Speaker 8: more people in there. And I still would have been comfortable.
- 11:19Speaker 8: I mean, don't get me wrong, I like less people.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 11:21Speaker 8: But I can understand, you know.
- 11:23Speaker 11: We're geeks.
- 11:23Speaker 2: We're antisocial.
- 11:24Speaker 1: There's only so many times a year we can cram
- 11:26Speaker 1: ourselves in with regular people.
- 11:28Speaker 11: But I think people were cycling in and out.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Yeah, which is good.
- 11:32Speaker 8: Or they were all in the fucking food court line.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the only place it was clogged up.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Geeks like their food. How long? And, of course, we
- 11:40Speaker 2: were there.
- 11:40Speaker 8: How long were you in line for my sandwich?
- 11:42Speaker 11: I have no idea. I wasn't paying attention.
- 11:44Speaker 8: At least 45 minutes.
- 11:45Speaker 2: It was a long damn time.
- 11:47Speaker 8: But, yeah, as I said, it seemed to run a
- 11:50Speaker 8: lot more smoothly this year. But then again, it could be, again,
- 11:54Speaker 8: they figured some shit out. They capped the ticket sales,
- 11:58Speaker 8: which I think more places should do.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean.
- 12:02Speaker 8: You know, it's like, I understand wanting to make money, but...
- 12:06Speaker 8: To the degree that some people do it, it's just ridiculous.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Especially when you know you're dealing with a specific building.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Every public building has a specific code set up and
- 12:16Speaker 1: an amount of people you can fit in there. You
- 12:19Speaker 1: know when you're pre-selling tickets. You can estimate that kind
- 12:22Speaker 1: of stuff. You can take care of that and not
- 12:24Speaker 1: get yourself into trouble. All conventions need to use all
- 12:31Speaker 1: of these things as lessons and learn from them.
- 12:34Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 12:35Speaker 2: It's impressive when it's done right.
- 12:37Speaker 8: But yeah, I mean, it's always a fun convention. There's always,
- 12:40Speaker 8: there's so much, so much, they separated some of, well,
- 12:42Speaker 8: it's like they had like the artist alley, but then
- 12:43Speaker 8: there were artists over in the other part too. So
- 12:46Speaker 8: it's like.
- 12:47Speaker 2: There's a lot of artists.
- 12:48Speaker 11: Yeah, they were just kind of scattered about.
- 12:50Speaker 8: But why have a specific artist alley?
- 12:52Speaker 11: Because they paid more. I don't know.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I don't know if they actually did, but.
- 12:56Speaker 8: I have no idea.
- 12:57Speaker 2: It could be.
- 12:57Speaker 11: It's in my world they did. They were the VIP.
- 13:01Speaker 8: Maybe they paid less.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I don't know. They had to live in an alley.
- 13:05Speaker 10: Oh, I don't know.
- 13:08Speaker 8: We did a quick run through the celebrity room, even though,
- 13:10Speaker 8: I mean, they did have some good celebrities. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:13Speaker 8: None that I'm like, oh, my God, oh, my God.
- 13:15Speaker 8: I mean, I was pretty excited about Zack Morris being
- 13:17Speaker 8: there until we actually saw him and I saw his beard.
- 13:21Speaker 2: And I'm like, I mean, you get old, you got
- 13:23Speaker 2: to have a cool dude beard.
- 13:24Speaker 8: That was just a dude. He was there was no
- 13:28Speaker 8: Zack attack.
- 13:30Speaker 1: See, I was like, if we can get people like
- 13:32Speaker 1: chanting Zach Morris is trash, like get the following of
- 13:35Speaker 1: the online cult that is Zach Morris is trash. Those
- 13:41Speaker 1: are pretty damn entertaining videos because it's another one of
- 13:44Speaker 1: those that I keep seeing reruns on Sunday mornings. I
- 13:47Speaker 1: think they play a big block of them on the
- 13:49Speaker 1: old me TV. And I'm just like, I never really
- 13:52Speaker 1: got into it anyway. I think because it was like
- 13:54Speaker 1: my sisters watched it. And I'm like, you guys are
- 13:55Speaker 1: dorks because you're watching this. So I was like immediately
- 13:58Speaker 1: anti that because they liked it.
- 14:00Speaker 8: Boyfriend used to watch it after work.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Well, I saw it just enough that I knew all
- 14:04Speaker 2: of the stuff.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I knew enough about it. But for the most part,
- 14:07Speaker 1: I just never really got into it. So now I'm
- 14:09Speaker 1: kind of watching it a little more as the, I'm
- 14:12Speaker 1: using quotes, grown up that.
- 14:14Speaker 2: I am now.
- 14:15Speaker 7: Yeah, right.
- 14:15Speaker 2: But I'm at least watching it going.
- 14:18Speaker 8: He really.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Like, the shit that Zach does.
- 14:21Speaker 1: The stuff they all kind of get away with, but
- 14:23Speaker 1: mostly the shit.
- 14:24Speaker 2: That Zach does.
- 14:25Speaker 8: He's a fucking psychopath.
- 14:26Speaker 2: This is... Yeah, he's a sociopath. That's what he is.
- 14:30Speaker 8: But he was so cute.
- 14:31Speaker 2: But, I mean, he had a big block cell phone, so,
- 14:34Speaker 2: you know, he was obviously cool.
- 14:35Speaker 8: Like, why don't... Even me and boyfriend were talking, like,
- 14:38Speaker 8: why aren't they pulling together a Saved by the Bell
- 14:40Speaker 8: fucking reunion?
- 14:40Speaker 2: Like, at a convention?
- 14:42Speaker 8: Because, I mean, seriously, what are they doing? I mean....
- 14:47Speaker 2: You'll see a few, because I think Dustin's out doing these.
- 14:49Speaker 2: So he's still out doing that.
- 14:50Speaker 8: Mr. Belding was at one not too long ago.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Yeah, Belding was at one not too long ago. And
- 14:54Speaker 2: still around, so that's good to know. I mean.
- 14:59Speaker 8: What's Tori doing?
- 15:01Speaker 1: Turtle?
- 15:02Speaker 2: The Lisa?
- 15:03Speaker 8: No, I'm talking about Tori. The biker chick. Wasn't her
- 15:05Speaker 8: name Tori?
- 15:06Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 15:08Speaker 2: She was an add-on later.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Again, I only know Lisa Turtle's still around because she
- 15:14Speaker 1: did one of the little... promo intro things on me
- 15:17Speaker 1: tv so i'm like oh it's.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Old version elisa cool she's.
- 15:20Speaker 8: Still around i only know she's around because i've seen
- 15:22Speaker 8: how horrible she looks.
- 15:24Speaker 1: That promo she didn't i've seen worse pictures they might
- 15:27Speaker 1: have just been picking really terrible shots of her because
- 15:29Speaker 1: she did some good makeup on the me tv and
- 15:31Speaker 1: i'm like no it's still her i can see it
- 15:33Speaker 1: but yeah where's what's her face yeah What's the stripper girl?
- 15:39Speaker 8: Jessie Spano?
- 15:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Where's Jessie Spano these days?
- 15:42Speaker 8: Elizabeth Berkley?
- 15:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Elizabeth Berkley. That's her for real name.
- 15:47Speaker 11: Tiffany Angrith Eason. That was the other one.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I mean, she had real gigs for a while, but
- 15:52Speaker 1: I don't know. I can't think of the last time
- 15:55Speaker 1: I've seen either of them. Well, that's actually, what's sad
- 15:57Speaker 1: is the hard one to get would be freaking Slater.
- 16:00Speaker 8: Yeah, Mario Lopez has got some shit to do.
- 16:01Speaker 2: He's got legit jobs now.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Again, I didn't care about him then, and we were
- 16:06Speaker 1: kind of like, We were discussing one of his straight-to-DVD
- 16:09Speaker 1: movies he made recently that they may or may not
- 16:11Speaker 1: have done on Mystery Science Theater. I think it's either
- 16:14Speaker 1: the new one or maybe it was an old version
- 16:16Speaker 1: of the cinematic Titanic or something. They did one of
- 16:20Speaker 1: his bad 90s straight-to-video movies. It's funny now, he's the
- 16:25Speaker 1: one with the most completely steady work.
- 16:28Speaker 2: He's had that damn radio show for years.
- 16:31Speaker 1: And he's on, like, whatever dumb, I think it's Extra
- 16:34Speaker 1: or something that he's been a host of for years.
- 16:36Speaker 2: I mean, he's got steady pay coming in.
- 16:38Speaker 8: There is a fucking burrito walking past us.
- 16:41Speaker 2: He's got a sombrero, so. And a princess. It's Belle
- 16:46Speaker 2: and the burrito.
- 16:47Speaker 8: Taco Bell. It means a taco.
- 16:50Speaker 1: No, wait, I'm working on this new animated kids project,
- 16:54Speaker 1: Belle and the Burrito.
- 16:55Speaker 2: I think it's going to catch on.
- 16:56Speaker 8: Sorry, we're not even at the convention anymore. We're on the.
- 17:00Speaker 1: The outskirts of the convention. We're just seeing burritos now.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Maybe we're really hungry.
- 17:05Speaker 8: Maybe he is a taco. But yeah, they did have
- 17:10Speaker 8: some pretty good stuff. I mean, they had fucking Val Kilmer.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:13Speaker 8: Who we couldn't actually see.
- 17:14Speaker 2: That's huge.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Well, they had to curtain him off because geeks like
- 17:16Speaker 1: us would be all gawking at him.
- 17:18Speaker 8: He can't have that.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Definitely not.
- 17:19Speaker 8: He's been through a lot. I mean, give Val Kilmer
- 17:21Speaker 8: some credit for at least still doing this. Maybe he
- 17:24Speaker 8: needs the money. I don't know. Did he have.
- 17:27Speaker 8: Throat cancer?
- 17:27Speaker 1: He had definitely some medical issues that, yeah, maybe he
- 17:31Speaker 1: just needs to pick up some cash.
- 17:32Speaker 8: I thought he had some variety of cancer. I could
- 17:33Speaker 8: be totally making that up. Either way, he's, you know,
- 17:37Speaker 8: he's gone through some shit. Fat Val Kilmer or some slack.
- 17:40Speaker 8: Don't get me wrong, I'll make fun of Fat Val
- 17:42Speaker 8: Kilmer when he's fat just about any other day.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I mean, he's, again, as time's gone on, he's turned
- 17:47Speaker 1: up in some strange projects. And not even, like, low budget, like,
- 17:51Speaker 1: that weird one he did with, like, Coppola. Like, what
- 17:53Speaker 1: the hell's going on here? Because Coppola kind of got
- 17:56Speaker 1: old and weird, too. So, like, they both crossed.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Over and had a weird movie together. And I don't know.
- 18:02Speaker 1: He ended up in some strange things as he got older.
- 18:05Speaker 1: But I guess they can't all be thunder art.
- 18:08Speaker 8: Anyway, I have one more thing about Val Kilmer. I
- 18:10Speaker 8: thought it was weird that his little sign, like, at
- 18:12Speaker 8: his table, like, there's no guns in, like, the convention.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Yeah, this part.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I mean, with any convention now, you have to, like,
- 18:21Speaker 1: either not bring guns, or if you have it, they have, like,
- 18:24Speaker 1: a weapons check area where you have.
- 18:26Speaker 2: To go get it, like, zip-tied or stickered or something.
- 18:29Speaker 2: That's for prop weapons.
- 18:30Speaker 1: That, you know, just in general, like, anything you're carrying
- 18:34Speaker 1: that could be considered a weapon, you have to go
- 18:35Speaker 1: get checked with people now.
- 18:37Speaker 2: But you definitely can't have real guns.
- 18:39Speaker 8: But, yeah, but specifically on his table were, like, all
- 18:42Speaker 8: his photos were, like, there was a sign that said,
- 18:45Speaker 8: no guns, no gun parts, and no hats. I'm like,
- 18:50Speaker 8: is it just like he's not signing these things?
- 18:52Speaker 1: I want him to sign my 10-gallon hat.
- 18:54Speaker 8: I mean, is it specifically, is he done with it?
- 18:57Speaker 11: That might be what it is.
- 18:58Speaker 2: That might be what it is, actually.
- 18:59Speaker 11: Just tombstone.
- 19:00Speaker 8: I didn't even think about that until right now, because
- 19:01Speaker 8: I was like, I just thought it was weird. I'm like,
- 19:02Speaker 8: you can't wear hats when you're meeting him?
- 19:05Speaker 2: That's what I was wondering.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I remember that rule in clubs for a while there.
- 19:09Speaker 1: It was a gang-related thing. You couldn't wear your caps in, because,
- 19:12Speaker 1: you know, gang colors and whatnot.
- 19:13Speaker 8: They already have the no selfie. I'm pretty sure from
- 19:17Speaker 8: what I read, He was the only one who specifically
- 19:20Speaker 8: had no selfies. He was the only one doing professional
- 19:23Speaker 8: photo op only. Everybody else was doing it, which they've
- 19:27Speaker 8: raised the price on, like the whole combo deal, whatever.
- 19:30Speaker 2: It's a thing. That's across the board. Again, that's just
- 19:33Speaker 2: every convention now. It is the game. It's how it's working.
- 19:37Speaker 8: The game sucks.
- 19:38Speaker 2: I mean, again, it's because everything is so popular.
- 19:42Speaker 1: If all of this crashes and nobody comes to him anymore,
- 19:45Speaker 1: I guess people will be back to charging, you know,
- 19:46Speaker 1: 10 bucks for a photo and free selfies.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Like, you know, it's just because it's a market now.
- 19:52Speaker 2: It is the freaking way.
- 19:55Speaker 8: I just thought it was strange. No guns, no gun parts,
- 19:58Speaker 8: and no hats.
- 19:59Speaker 2: But I brought my old-timey Civil War hat for you
- 20:02Speaker 2: to sign.
- 20:03Speaker 8: Because I would have never, if it's specified, will not
- 20:06Speaker 8: sign guns, gun parts, or hats. But it just, like,
- 20:09Speaker 8: you can't even, like, wear a hat to meet him.
- 20:11Speaker 8: And I'm just like, does he have, like, a thing
- 20:12Speaker 8: against hats? I don't understand.
- 20:14Speaker 2: But that's the thing, though.
- 20:15Speaker 8: What about ascots? Can you wear an ascot? Can you wear, like, a.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Well, if you're cool, sure. No, I mean, it is
- 20:21Speaker 2: one of those that, thinking back, I.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Mean, most people, I guess, are going to go for
- 20:25Speaker 1: your top guns.
- 20:26Speaker 2: And certainly real genius for me.
- 20:29Speaker 8: Obviously.
- 20:29Speaker 11: But.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Having rewatched.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Tombstone a couple of years ago for the show, I'm
- 20:33Speaker 1: just like, that's kind of the thing. Not everybody loves Tombstone,
- 20:38Speaker 1: but even the people who don't care about it are
- 20:40Speaker 1: just like, no, really, he's good.
- 20:43Speaker 2: His Doc Holliday is fucking awesome.
- 20:46Speaker 11: Tombstone's a great movie is that part of it.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Yeah i mean he's he's so good but that's the
- 20:52Speaker 1: other day i was like michael bean's there too and
- 20:53Speaker 1: i was like michael bean's been in all kinds of
- 20:56Speaker 1: weird stuff but like he is so damn good like
- 20:58Speaker 1: he's got just a minimal amount of screen time compared
- 21:01Speaker 1: to you know kurt russell but like his like johnny
- 21:05Speaker 1: ringo guy is like so memorable like he makes it
- 21:08Speaker 1: such a great character in like this limited amount of
- 21:11Speaker 1: screen time that i'm like it something about that movie
- 21:13Speaker 1: like brought out the best and and these weird little
- 21:16Speaker 1: character roles, you know, it's like the least interesting person
- 21:20Speaker 1: in the movie is kind of Kurt Russell.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Really?
- 21:22Speaker 1: It's like our main character is kind of like.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Man, they're weird.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Sort of a romance, whatever, but like freaking Doc Holliday
- 21:30Speaker 1: and Johnny Ringo.
- 21:31Speaker 2: And like, these guys are like so interesting that, yeah.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I don't know what was going on in that movie
- 21:35Speaker 1: that just brought out these great character performances.
- 21:38Speaker 8: I don't know. I'm sure I've seen it, but it's
- 21:40Speaker 8: been like a long time. It wasn't one of those
- 21:42Speaker 8: that I... It wasn't a horror movie, and so I.
- 21:44Speaker 11: Didn't... I probably need to go back and re-watch it.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Definitely. Again, just for those.
- 21:49Speaker 1: But that's the thing. When we talked about it, we
- 21:51Speaker 1: were just like... It's like everybody's favorite dad kind of movie.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Everybody in the world.
- 21:57Speaker 1: I remember even at the video store, everybody that came
- 21:59Speaker 1: in and bought it, it just had such a weird
- 22:01Speaker 1: mass appeal of regular people and Western fans and just old.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Dudes watching movies.
- 22:08Speaker 8: It just.
- 22:09Speaker 1: It had a specific group, but then it kind of
- 22:11Speaker 1: overlapped into a bunch of other weird areas. So it's, again,
- 22:15Speaker 1: one of those few Westerns that kind of crossed over
- 22:17Speaker 1: into like super mainstream.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Everybody ended up seeing it eventually.
- 22:21Speaker 1: But yeah, Val Kilmer is freaking awesome in it.
- 22:24Speaker 8: Yeah, they had him behind the curtain.
- 22:26Speaker 2: He was hiding from us. Wouldn't have been fun if
- 22:28Speaker 2: he like peeked out.
- 22:30Speaker 8: What's going on out there, guys? No, he wouldn't do that.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Damn it. Come on, Val.
- 22:34Speaker 8: Who else did we see? I saw Adam Copeland for
- 22:37Speaker 8: like a second. He didn't seem as tall as I
- 22:38Speaker 8: thought he would be, so I was kind of disappointed.
- 22:40Speaker 2: He's getting old. Maybe he's shrinking.
- 22:42Speaker 8: Adam Copeland?
- 22:43Speaker 2: Old people, you know.
- 22:44Speaker 8: He's not old.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Everybody's old.
- 22:46Speaker 8: The Edge is not old.
- 22:47Speaker 2: He's older than when he used to be the Edge.
- 22:49Speaker 11: It's on Billy Piper.
- 22:51Speaker 8: Her weird-ass, messy pigtails.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Please discuss her hair, because I'm confused.
- 22:55Speaker 8: From the first angle, I thought she just had... I
- 22:57Speaker 8: couldn't tell what the fuck was going on. It was
- 22:59Speaker 8: almost on top of her head, and then she turned,
- 23:02Speaker 8: and there was another one kind of sloppily up to
- 23:03Speaker 8: the side. I'm like, Did your fucking three-year-old do your
- 23:06Speaker 8: hair today? I mean, don't get me wrong. It was
- 23:08Speaker 8: messily adorable. It was, but I'm just like.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I don't understand how you purposefully even do it that way. Like,
- 23:15Speaker 1: it seems so haphazardly slapped together that I'm like, how
- 23:19Speaker 1: could you, like, stand in front of a mirror and
- 23:21Speaker 1: make it that.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Perfectly messed up? Like, it was just so crazy. I
- 23:27Speaker 2: was just like, what?
- 23:28Speaker 8: You can tell that this died down a lot, too,
- 23:30Speaker 8: because we could actually see her.
- 23:31Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:32Speaker 8: I mean, back in, like, I mean, like, how about,
- 23:34Speaker 8: I'd say, what, how long ago was it that fucking
- 23:36Speaker 8: Doctor Who made a big, was, like, the biggest thing?
- 23:39Speaker 2: Five or six years ago when we saw, when they
- 23:41Speaker 2: had it behind curtains.
- 23:42Speaker 8: It's been longer than that. It's been, like, longer than that,
- 23:44Speaker 8: hasn't it?
- 23:44Speaker 1: No, but I'm saying when they started, because in the
- 23:46Speaker 1: very beginning, nobody was even out doing shows and stuff.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I feel like it was, like, right in the middle
- 23:51Speaker 1: there that they started doing a lot, like, all the
- 23:53Speaker 1: people from the successful seasons started doing shows, and, like,
- 23:57Speaker 1: the convention thing hit like it's, zenith and like everything
- 24:01Speaker 1: kind of hit at the same moment where like it
- 24:04Speaker 1: was just packed and crazy doctor who fans and like
- 24:06Speaker 1: so yeah it's it's all kind of leveled out now
- 24:09Speaker 1: like doctor who people aren't insane.
- 24:10Speaker 8: Anymore well yeah but.
- 24:12Speaker 1: It's just it's just the hardcore people like all the
- 24:16Speaker 1: the weird kids that were into it for a minute
- 24:18Speaker 1: like that all fell off and they got something else
- 24:19Speaker 1: to be into and like it's just hardcore doctor who
- 24:22Speaker 1: fans again like it's funny that like That's.
- 24:24Speaker 2: What it started as. It used to just be the
- 24:27Speaker 2: group of.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Weirdos watching the public broadcasting system back in the day.
- 24:31Speaker 8: I think 12 or 13 that kind of killed it.
- 24:33Speaker 8: Who's the dude?
- 24:36Speaker 2: The older dude. That threw it off a little bit.
- 24:38Speaker 8: Yeah, I think Peter Capper or whatever.
- 24:40Speaker 7: Yeah, that guy.
- 24:41Speaker 8: I think that kind of killed it a little bit.
- 24:42Speaker 8: Because when it was... Before that, people.
- 24:45Speaker 11: It was Matt Smith.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Yeah, the Matt Smith era and the David Tennant. Both
- 24:49Speaker 1: just brought out huge mainstream.
- 24:52Speaker 2: I.
- 24:52Speaker 8: Like number nine. Number nine's my favorite.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Number nine.
- 24:56Speaker 8: Chris Eck.
- 24:57Speaker 11: A lot more girls got into it. Oh, yeah.
- 25:00Speaker 5: Massive.
- 25:01Speaker 8: Well, because they have a doctor who was a chick.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Yeah, they brought in younger, cute doctors.
- 25:05Speaker 8: Well, they have a chick.
- 25:06Speaker 11: No, I'm talking about it before. They had a younger,
- 25:09Speaker 11: cute doctor.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Especially when they got to Matt Smith.
- 25:12Speaker 11: Yeah, when they got to Matt Smith.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Tenet was cute, too, but Matt Smith was like a
- 25:15Speaker 2: kid compared to all.
- 25:16Speaker 7: The old guys.
- 25:17Speaker 8: Tenet was like weird British cute, I guess.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Yeah, he's just weird.
- 25:20Speaker 8: All right, what were you saying?
- 25:22Speaker 11: What was I saying? I wouldn't say anything.
- 25:25Speaker 2: It made the girls get into it.
- 25:26Speaker 11: That's what I was saying.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Teenage girls.
- 25:29Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 25:30Speaker 2: It's cool.
- 25:30Speaker 11: Up until then, it was mostly just hardcore Doctor Who nerds.
- 25:33Speaker 2: And then there was just an.
- 25:33Speaker 11: Old dude again.
- 25:34Speaker 2: They were like, oh, what is this?
- 25:36Speaker 8: They killed their own fan base.
- 25:38Speaker 10: But it is interesting.
- 25:39Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 25:40Speaker 1: All the hardcore dorks probably got up in arms recently,
- 25:43Speaker 1: but I'm just like, cool, bring her in.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I thought that was awesome.
- 25:47Speaker 8: Isn't she already done?
- 25:48Speaker 2: Did she finish her arc already?
- 25:50Speaker 8: I don't know. I thought that she was already going
- 25:52Speaker 8: to be done. I don't know. I have zero idea.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I just saw they started putting out merchandise with her
- 25:56Speaker 1: on it, and I'm like, that's, I mean, again, like,
- 25:58Speaker 1: I don't have much to go on with her except
- 26:00Speaker 1: Attack the Block.
- 26:01Speaker 2: But I love Attack the Block, and she's so damn
- 26:03Speaker 2: good in that. I'm like, nope, bring her on. Like,
- 26:05Speaker 2: I'll watch her in anything except I don't really, haven't
- 26:08Speaker 2: watched any Doctor Who. Still, like, if I'm on board with,
- 26:11Speaker 2: you know, let's switch it over and make it a girl, like, cool,
- 26:14Speaker 2: make it her. She's an awesome actress, so. Yeah, I
- 26:18Speaker 2: didn't get all bent out of shape as geek things go.
- 26:22Speaker 8: Yeah, that whole thing has definitely calmed down a bit.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Again, I think it was that switching to,
- 26:27Speaker 2: it was just back to old school, a weird old
- 26:30Speaker 2: British dude being the doctor.
- 26:32Speaker 8: It changed everything. The entire day to day, I don't
- 26:34Speaker 8: think I saw anybody cosplayed as anybody from Doctor Who.
- 26:37Speaker 8: Even with her there.
- 26:38Speaker 11: I saw a Billy Piper.
- 26:39Speaker 8: You saw one? Okay, yeah, I did see one. I
- 26:42Speaker 8: did see one Rose. Yeah.
- 26:44Speaker 2: It's like Rose.
- 26:45Speaker 8: But I didn't see any angels. I didn't see any doctors.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I didn't really see doctors.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Yeah, usually you see tons of people in various... Because
- 26:54Speaker 1: there's so many different incarnations of doctor outfits.
- 26:58Speaker 11: Saw a lot of Deadpools.
- 26:59Speaker 8: Saw a lot of anime characters.
- 27:01Speaker 11: A lot of anime characters that I had no clue.
- 27:03Speaker 8: That's mostly what I saw.
- 27:04Speaker 2: The one I liked... I was like.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Because I'm standing in line in the food court. The
- 27:09Speaker 1: only time we waited in line. I'm standing in line
- 27:11Speaker 1: waiting to get food. And the row in front of
- 27:13Speaker 1: me is this kid.
- 27:14Speaker 8: And I'm like.
- 27:15Speaker 1: That is such a well put together and low intensity costume.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I do like that now there's the homemade but legit
- 27:25Speaker 1: Spider-Man costume because it's within the context of the movie.
- 27:28Speaker 1: He makes basically a hoodie version of a Spider-Man. So
- 27:31Speaker 1: basically you can just kind of wear some sweats.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Now, but it's actually Spider-Man. So I don't know.
- 27:36Speaker 1: I like that there's like a little to no work
- 27:40Speaker 1: put involved in this, but it's actually, you.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Know, screen action.
- 27:43Speaker 11: The one that I was excited about that probably very
- 27:46Speaker 11: few people got.
- 27:48Speaker 8: I'm surprised. I was just like, whoa, what is it?
- 27:51Speaker 11: Was somebody cosplayed as David Baker from Forged in Fire.
- 27:55Speaker 8: I thought you were talking about the other one you saw.
- 28:00Speaker 1: No, no.
- 28:01Speaker 11: If you didn't know any better, you would have thought
- 28:03Speaker 11: it was just an old guy in a vest with
- 28:05Speaker 11: a mustache and blue jeans and moccasin boots.
- 28:11Speaker 8: As he was wearing a tie.
- 28:12Speaker 11: He was wearing a bow tie. Or a bolo tie
- 28:15Speaker 11: is what he was wearing. Maybe he was wearing a
- 28:17Speaker 11: bow tie. I don't remember now. But I just remember
- 28:19Speaker 11: him walking by and I was like, where do I
- 28:20Speaker 11: know this guy from? Because it didn't look like a cosplay.
- 28:22Speaker 11: The guy looked like a regular guy. And then I
- 28:24Speaker 11: thought it was a cosplay. And then I was like,
- 28:25Speaker 11: holy shit, that guy's cosplaying David Baker from Forged in Fire.
- 28:29Speaker 2: It wasn't just David Baker?
- 28:30Speaker 11: No, it wasn't just David Baker.
- 28:31Speaker 2: What else has he got to do today?
- 28:33Speaker 11: He's got a lot of stuff to do.
- 28:34Speaker 8: He was an actor. He was on a show that
- 28:36Speaker 8: you said you used to watch. Or did you not
- 28:40Speaker 8: used to watch it?
- 28:40Speaker 11: It was either Bring Him Back Alive or it was
- 28:43Speaker 11: Tales of the Golden Monkey.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Recently brought up on this very show ourselves.
- 28:47Speaker 11: Yeah, I know.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Mostly because we couldn't figure out which was which.
- 28:50Speaker 11: Yeah, those were two different shows that kind of came
- 28:52Speaker 11: about at the same time.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Well, they were both banking on the same thing that
- 28:57Speaker 1: spun them off, which was Indiana Jones.
- 28:58Speaker 8: It was about planes, wasn't it?
- 29:01Speaker 11: Oh, one of them was, ah, jeez, I don't know.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I think one of them was a pilot in the show,
- 29:06Speaker 1: so that's how they went to all the exotic locations.
- 29:09Speaker 1: I think they jumped in the plane and flew to
- 29:11Speaker 1: some other place every week.
- 29:12Speaker 11: But the Bring Him Back Alive one more had kind
- 29:14Speaker 11: of more of a, I think had more of a
- 29:17Speaker 11: British-y guy in it. Kind of a, if I remember correctly.
- 29:22Speaker 2: What I forgot, and I did watch.
- 29:24Speaker 1: think I watched more of the tales of the gold
- 29:26Speaker 1: monkey when I don't remember but I do remember like
- 29:29Speaker 1: I'd forgotten all about it and then I brought up
- 29:31Speaker 1: that photo to post on the Facebook page and I
- 29:33Speaker 1: was like oh my god the dog has an eye
- 29:35Speaker 1: patch I forgot all like I put that out of
- 29:38Speaker 1: my head and then I saw.
- 29:39Speaker 2: I was like oh shit i remember that yeah.
- 29:41Speaker 1: The dog's got a weird little like bandana eye patch
- 29:44Speaker 1: going on i'm just like now that's a cool freaking
- 29:46Speaker 1: dog wearing a damn eye patch.
- 29:49Speaker 11: But yeah i don't know i don't know why i
- 29:52Speaker 11: was thinking about that i think because i was going
- 29:53Speaker 11: back and watching because i don't know if you guys
- 29:56Speaker 11: talked about it recently but jan michael vince had passed
- 29:59Speaker 11: away No. So for a lot of us who grew
- 30:02Speaker 11: up in the 80s that were huge Airwolf fans, that
- 30:08Speaker 11: kind of sucked.
- 30:10Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 30:10Speaker 11: But he had been kind of a mess for a while.
- 30:14Speaker 1: With a lot of these guys, the years go on
- 30:16Speaker 1: and they hit some rough times.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Call to glory.
- 30:20Speaker 11: Call to glory.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Okay, that's what it was. Wait, that's the Forged in
- 30:25Speaker 2: Fire guy was in?
- 30:26Speaker 7: Yes.
- 30:26Speaker 8: Okay. And he was in St. Elmo's Fire as Jules' date.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Ah, Jules' date. Everyone remembers Jules' date.
- 30:36Speaker 8: Okay, sorry. Back to Jan and Michael Vincent.
- 30:39Speaker 11: I've already finished.
- 30:40Speaker 1: I mean, we watched him on the show that one time.
- 30:43Speaker 10: We did.
- 30:43Speaker 1: We watched him rolling around the wasteland in that weird
- 30:45Speaker 1: little RV. The recreational vehicle of the future.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:52Speaker 1: While we're on general geek subject matter... Because, again, occasionally
- 30:57Speaker 1: lately we've just thrown out some general geek subjects.
- 31:00Speaker 2: This one, I mean, it's not super recent, but it's
- 31:02Speaker 2: semi-recent this happened.
- 31:04Speaker 1: And I kind of want to ask you, Jay, because
- 31:06Speaker 1: you know the actor involved, but you also, I don't think, have.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Any connection to the place that he's turning up on now.
- 31:13Speaker 10: Okay.
- 31:14Speaker 2: So on the CW, we did stop by the CW
- 31:17Speaker 2: booth today. We spun the wheel.
- 31:19Speaker 8: We got a sticker.
- 31:20Speaker 2: No, we plinkoed that one.
- 31:21Speaker 8: Plinkoed.
- 31:21Speaker 2: We plinkoed.
- 31:22Speaker 8: We got stickers.
- 31:23Speaker 2: I got a sticker. on Riverdale. I got my sticker.
- 31:26Speaker 8: I got a Supernatural sticker.
- 31:28Speaker 2: I'm telling you, Supernatural just needs to take place in
- 31:30Speaker 2: like an old folks home now.
- 31:31Speaker 8: Dude, no doubt.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Dude, those guys have been doing that a long damn time.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Anyway, so, Plinko aside, on the CW, they have, many
- 31:39Speaker 1: years ago, picked up the Supergirl series and I don't
- 31:42Speaker 1: know if you've heard that they added, because it's always
- 31:45Speaker 1: been like from the very first season, there was within
- 31:49Speaker 1: the On-screen story, there was no Lex Luthor. Lex Luthor's
- 31:53Speaker 1: sister started off like she was going to be a villain,
- 31:56Speaker 1: and now she's sort of semi-friends with the heroes, but
- 31:59Speaker 1: you never know if you can really trust her kind
- 32:01Speaker 1: of a thing. And Lex has always been in jail,
- 32:04Speaker 1: and he's off-screen, and we never see him. There's occasionally
- 32:06Speaker 1: talk of him, but there's no Lex Luthor. Yeah.
- 32:08Speaker 2: They finally introduced Lex Luthor into the series. Have you
- 32:12Speaker 2: heard the casting?
- 32:13Speaker 10: No.
- 32:15Speaker 2: John Cryer.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Thank you that was my response and like they i
- 32:21Speaker 1: don't think i'd have heard about it ahead of time
- 32:23Speaker 1: and i just happened was watching that episode and.
- 32:25Speaker 2: They get to the end and there's a big reveal
- 32:27Speaker 2: of look who it is it's lex.
- 32:28Speaker 1: And i went it's that fucking john crier like ducky
- 32:32Speaker 1: i know you're a ducky fan so i was just
- 32:34Speaker 1: like i wanted to get your take on the casting
- 32:36Speaker 1: of john crier as lex.
- 32:38Speaker 11: Luther you know what even seeing john crier in uh
- 32:44Speaker 11: uh like what is it uh.
- 32:48Speaker 2: The dumb TV show?
- 32:49Speaker 11: Yeah, the men's show.
- 32:50Speaker 2: That's the thing. That two and a half men. Two
- 32:52Speaker 2: and a half men. I couldn't get on board with.
- 32:54Speaker 11: He's just like.
- 32:55Speaker 2: I mean, I will give him credit. Like, you think
- 32:56Speaker 2: how much money he made off that series. He's the
- 32:58Speaker 2: only one.
- 32:59Speaker 11: I hate to say it, but he's always kind of.
- 33:03Speaker 11: He's always kind of, you know. Put himself in a
- 33:07Speaker 11: corner as far as being kind of the. Kind of
- 33:11Speaker 11: the weenie whiney.
- 33:13Speaker 8: You know, kind of very typecast.
- 33:15Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 33:16Speaker 11: He is super typecast. So I've never seen.
- 33:18Speaker 2: It to himself. He definitely did it to himself.
- 33:20Speaker 11: I've never seen him.
- 33:21Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 33:21Speaker 11: I've never seen him in a role where you could go, yeah,
- 33:24Speaker 11: I could take him seriously as a villain or as
- 33:26Speaker 11: a hero. And dudes was a huge stretch to even
- 33:31Speaker 11: think that he.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Is the most hero of our characters.
- 33:35Speaker 11: And I'm like, yeah, I'm not buying it. I buy
- 33:39Speaker 11: him running away. I don't buy him standing up to
- 33:42Speaker 11: the bad guys.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Or being a bad guy.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Again, I never liked that stupid two and a half
- 33:49Speaker 1: minute show, but it was on repeat.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Once it went into syndication, it was on every day,
- 33:54Speaker 2: multiple times.
- 33:55Speaker 1: So I ended up just being on while I was
- 33:58Speaker 1: doing something else, seeing so many damn episodes.
- 34:00Speaker 8: That never happened for me.
- 34:01Speaker 2: It's not. Well, I'm like, he's not. Like, I can't
- 34:03Speaker 2: blame him.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Like, again, by the end, those three guys were making
- 34:07Speaker 1: a ton of money. And then the other two went
- 34:08Speaker 1: crazy and left. And, like, he's the only one still
- 34:11Speaker 1: cashing the checks. I'm like, I can't blame him. Like, hell,
- 34:14Speaker 1: I'd want to be cashing that network check, too. But
- 34:17Speaker 1: at the same time, I'm like, he's just, yeah, he
- 34:19Speaker 1: just does that same thing he's kind of been doing,
- 34:21Speaker 1: only he's a little more creepy and perverted because that
- 34:23Speaker 1: whole show is.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Creepy and perverted.
- 34:24Speaker 11: Well, yeah, he's older now.
- 34:25Speaker 2: And now he's older, but it just makes it more sad,
- 34:27Speaker 2: all this lameness of his character.
- 34:30Speaker 1: But then once he got out of that, I actually
- 34:32Speaker 1: heard an interview with him. And I'm like, it was
- 34:35Speaker 1: a long interview. And I'm like, he sounds pretty down
- 34:38Speaker 1: to earth. He seemed like a pretty cool guy.
- 34:40Speaker 2: In the real world. I'm like, okay, that's good to know.
- 34:43Speaker 1: I'd gotten so attached to disliking that show that he
- 34:48Speaker 1: got roped into that. But by the end, I'm like,
- 34:49Speaker 1: all right, he seems like a pretty cool guy. And
- 34:52Speaker 1: then I hadn't seen anything until a couple of weeks
- 34:55Speaker 1: ago when that popped up.
- 34:56Speaker 2: And I was just like, what a weird guy.
- 34:59Speaker 11: Yeah, I'll have to, you know what, I would have
- 35:01Speaker 11: to see it and see if it turns out good.
- 35:05Speaker 11: Because if he does and if he pulls it off,
- 35:06Speaker 11: that'd be cool.
- 35:07Speaker 2: It could change things for him, maybe.
- 35:09Speaker 11: Because there have been actors that have done that. I mean,
- 35:11Speaker 11: you know, that have done... you know, nothing but comedy
- 35:14Speaker 11: roles all their lives. And then they go for a
- 35:16Speaker 11: serious role and you're like, there's no way this guy's
- 35:18Speaker 11: going to be able to pull off a serious role.
- 35:19Speaker 11: And they nail it.
- 35:20Speaker 1: He just doesn't seem menacing. Like that's what you, because
- 35:24Speaker 1: I mean, that's Lex Luthor being like still one of
- 35:26Speaker 1: the big supervillains in the whole, you know, DC universe,
- 35:30Speaker 1: even though he doesn't have superpowers other than being smart.
- 35:33Speaker 1: You know, it's like he's, he's super conniving and organized
- 35:36Speaker 1: and he can plan out these super elaborate things.
- 35:38Speaker 11: Maybe, maybe, maybe he would be able to fit the
- 35:42Speaker 11: type Of being just kind of wormy, but underhanded. You know, manipulative.
- 35:53Speaker 2: That's where I think they're going with it. Just kind
- 35:55Speaker 2: of a.
- 35:56Speaker 11: You look at him, and he looks like an okay guy,
- 35:58Speaker 11: and he looks like a nice guy. And underneath it all,
- 36:02Speaker 11: he's just kind of a real shitbag.
- 36:05Speaker 8: He did.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Well, they didn't go that part with it, though. Because
- 36:08Speaker 1: they still have the bald head, and now he has
- 36:10Speaker 1: like a beard to go with it. So... it's definitely
- 36:13Speaker 1: like trying to visually represent the villain that is Lex Luthor,
- 36:16Speaker 1: but like, he's again, he's not tall.
- 36:19Speaker 2: He's not a big guy.
- 36:20Speaker 1: So it's like, he's not imposing in any other physical way. No,
- 36:23Speaker 1: but if he's really smart.
- 36:26Speaker 11: He's real manipulative. He definitely can do a lot of destruction.
- 36:30Speaker 1: So it, it doesn't again, as a, just because I
- 36:33Speaker 1: know so many other incarnations of that character, you know
- 36:36Speaker 1: what I mean? You can't compare like freaking Gene Hackman
- 36:39Speaker 1: to John Cryer, but yeah, Again, this last episode, he
- 36:43Speaker 1: actually had lines, and he was in it quite a bit.
- 36:46Speaker 8: Why didn't they just fucking bring in Michael Rosenbaum? What
- 36:48Speaker 8: the fuck's he doing?
- 36:49Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. I mean, I really liked him.
- 36:51Speaker 2: That was another thing.
- 36:53Speaker 1: It gave a big hurdle for anybody to come in
- 36:55Speaker 1: playing that. That's why maybe they didn't start off with
- 36:58Speaker 1: him at all. Maybe it was just like, eh, I mean,
- 36:59Speaker 1: there's too much baggage there. Let's just hold off.
- 37:02Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean.
- 37:06Speaker 2: That's a great representation too. There've been so many people,
- 37:09Speaker 2: even that other guy in the movie that we won't mention.
- 37:11Speaker 1: These anymore, but they bring in usually these big heavy
- 37:14Speaker 1: hitter guys that can like intimidate you just by talking.
- 37:17Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 37:17Speaker 8: It wasn't with Jesse Eisen, whatever.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Oh, Eisenberg was too. I wasn't thinking again, that's a
- 37:23Speaker 2: weird way to go with him. That's very. And as
- 37:26Speaker 2: we complained about on this show back in the day,
- 37:28Speaker 2: he doesn't fit. Like it just does not. And I
- 37:31Speaker 2: think Eisenberg is.
- 37:31Speaker 1: A good actor, but like, that's just bad casting.
- 37:34Speaker 2: So I'm like, it's, It's not going that far down
- 37:36Speaker 2: the road.
- 37:36Speaker 8: I think Burt's good for that one character that he
- 37:38Speaker 8: does in every movie. Yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 2: I mean, he kind of is.
- 37:41Speaker 1: And he's trying to do that with this, but that
- 37:43Speaker 1: also doesn't fit Lex at all. So it's like if
- 37:46Speaker 1: you were doing like trying to shove him into more
- 37:48Speaker 1: of like a Riddler or something, like he could do
- 37:50Speaker 1: that because that fits more of his weird manic behaviors.
- 37:54Speaker 1: But like Lex, he just doesn't seem like Lex. And
- 37:57Speaker 1: so it's not quite that off. It's kind of, again,
- 38:00Speaker 1: for like a regular TV show version of it, they're
- 38:02Speaker 1: kind of pulling it together. So it'll be interesting, but it's,
- 38:06Speaker 1: It took a little getting used to to even see
- 38:08Speaker 1: him that way, see him with the bald head.
- 38:10Speaker 2: I'm just like, what the hell?
- 38:12Speaker 1: But, you know, I think Cryer's got potential in general,
- 38:16Speaker 1: so it'll be interesting to see what they do with it.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I do think, Misty, you should really learn to play
- 38:22Speaker 1: the ocarina.
- 38:24Speaker 8: I think I would not want to do that because
- 38:25Speaker 8: I'm pretty sure like everybody, whoever goes in there puts
- 38:27Speaker 8: their mouth on those things.
- 38:28Speaker 2: Oh, sure. Sure. You're going to get, that's how you
- 38:30Speaker 2: get these infections, but you'll build.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Up your immunity system by getting geek germs from all,
- 38:35Speaker 1: you know, we've got to test out all the Ocarinas
- 38:38Speaker 1: and like trying to decide what.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Were the geek themes.
- 38:42Speaker 1: We were, I would, she was, she in or he,
- 38:44Speaker 1: I think they were trading off. I think there were
- 38:45Speaker 1: two different ones, but they were kind of cycling through
- 38:48Speaker 1: all the greatest hits of geekdom.
- 38:50Speaker 8: Star Wars.
- 38:51Speaker 2: They started off, I.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Think when we came in, they do a Star Wars
- 38:54Speaker 1: and then they did the Cantina Band as well.
- 38:56Speaker 5: Oh yeah, they did.
- 38:57Speaker 1: And then we definitely had.
- 38:59Speaker 2: I don't.
- 39:02Speaker 8: Know, I kind of tuned down.
- 39:04Speaker 2: What was the other one?
- 39:05Speaker 11: They have some Doctor Who.
- 39:07Speaker 2: I don't know. That'd be one big whoosh.
- 39:10Speaker 1: You'd have to really lay into it to get Doctor Who.
- 39:14Speaker 1: I'm assuming at some point they played the Zelda theme.
- 39:17Speaker 8: I would hope so. I mean, why else do ocarinas exist?
- 39:21Speaker 2: Why sit there having that?
- 39:24Speaker 8: Alright.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Do we want to take a break and come back
- 39:27Speaker 1: and talk about movies?
- 39:28Speaker 8: Yeah. Okay.
- 39:29Speaker 5: Let's do that. Now it's time for ice cream.
- 40:05Speaker 4: Or maybe some nuts. A cool glass of orange. Why
- 40:15Speaker 4: not try a hot dog? Or the real thing.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Don't you guys like horror?
- 40:37Speaker 4: Yes.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Don't you think everybody should join the Meltketeer Horror Club?
- 40:42Speaker 10: Yes.
- 40:43Speaker 1: I think you should go to MovieMeltdown.com right now and
- 40:46Speaker 1: just click on the Patreon link and join up and
- 40:49Speaker 1: then all these amazing horror themed episodes we've got coming
- 40:52Speaker 1: up that you can listen to.
- 40:54Speaker 2: At the lowest level.
- 40:55Speaker 1: I try to keep it so everybody can join in.
- 40:58Speaker 2: So you can throw more money at us if you want.
- 41:00Speaker 2: But mostly, as long as.
- 41:03Speaker 1: You kick in a couple of bucks, you can always
- 41:06Speaker 1: listen to the horror episodes and experience the horror with us.
- 41:11Speaker 2: So join the club now.
- 41:13Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Don't you want to be cool?
- 41:15Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 41:16Speaker 2: I mean, really. Don't you want to be cool? All
- 41:18Speaker 2: the cool kids are doing it.
- 41:19Speaker 3: Okay, wait.
- 41:21Speaker 10: Just by being a movie geek, you're already not a
- 41:23Speaker 10: cool kid, and.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Neither are we. So all the geeks are doing it.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Join the club now.

- 41:56Speaker 1: Situation it's been to try to keep things going earlier
- 41:59Speaker 1: to these poor bastards.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Like, yeah, it's.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Not just like, hey, I'm rich and I want your
- 42:04Speaker 1: money anyway. It really does keep the show going to
- 42:08Speaker 1: the level.
- 42:08Speaker 2: That people don't realize.
- 42:10Speaker 1: It's kind of the only way it's survived this last
- 42:13Speaker 1: year and a half or so since we started this.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Yeah, so.
- 42:18Speaker 1: It is not only greatly appreciated, but it gives us
- 42:22Speaker 1: kind of a good way to come up with something
- 42:24Speaker 1: specific to put out there just for these people that
- 42:27Speaker 1: we know actually care enough to kick in.
- 42:30Speaker 11: Yeah, you get a lot of great stuff for that $ 2.

- 43:23Speaker 5: Damnation Alley. Everything man remembers is gone. Everything he has
- 43:28Speaker 5: achieved is forgotten. Every place he has lived has become
- 43:32Speaker 5: a wasteland, desolate, barren. And these five survivors may be
- 43:39Speaker 5: the only humans left alive. Together, they will attempt a
- 43:43Speaker 5: journey into the unknown. Only their courage and the instinct
- 43:50Speaker 5: to live could carry them safely through the hell that
- 43:52Speaker 5: lies ahead. The devastation of man. And the mutations of
- 44:00Speaker 5: nature gone wild. And somehow, they must endure this journey
- 44:14Speaker 5: through the nightmare of what we once knew as Earth. Somehow,
- 44:18Speaker 5: they must survive this journey through Damnation Alley. Starring Jan

- 44:56Speaker 6: Oh my god, is this a segue to something?
- 44:58Speaker 8: What?
- 44:59Speaker 2: You don't want to run out to Heine Brothers right now?
- 45:02Speaker 6: Actually, now that you mention it, I'm drinking some fine
- 45:04Speaker 6: coffee here, but I feel like enjoying a nice hot
- 45:08Speaker 6: cup from my local Heine Brothers might actually be an
- 45:10Speaker 6: even better idea.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Well, really, you don't even have to leave the house.
- 45:14Speaker 2: You could just have it ordered right to your doorstep.
- 45:17Speaker 11: Really?

- 45:31Speaker 6: over this table with this substandard coffee.
- 45:34Speaker 5: There.
- 45:34Speaker 8: There.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Right there.
- 45:35Speaker 6: Yeah, you heard it. And then let's run out, jump
- 45:39Speaker 6: in the car, and then screech sound effect as we
- 45:41Speaker 6: head on down to our local Heine Brothers.
- 45:44Speaker 5: There.
- 45:48Speaker 10: Man, subtle. Subtle segue.

- 46:56Speaker 3: Movie Meltdown.
- 47:04Speaker 9: It's part of your problem, you know.
- 47:07Speaker 7: You haven't seen enough movies.
- 47:09Speaker 5: All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 47:12Speaker 8: And now, on with the show.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Alright, so we are back. And I figured it's been
- 47:38Speaker 2: a long time, so let's catch up. Let's do some
- 47:42Speaker 2: geek activities.
- 47:43Speaker 10: Have you watched anything since many months ago when we talked.
- 47:47Speaker 2: To you last time?
- 47:47Speaker 8: I watched so much stuff, but then I couldn't remember
- 47:50Speaker 8: what it all was.
- 47:51Speaker 1: This is why I keep encouraging everyone on the show
- 47:55Speaker 1: to start keeping track.
- 47:56Speaker 10: Because I know my brain doesn't retain anything, so I
- 47:59Speaker 10: have to refer to.
- 48:02Speaker 8: I did make notes on my phone. Did we discuss
- 48:04Speaker 8: Castle Rock the last time I was on here?
- 48:06Speaker 10: I think you mentioned you started it, maybe?
- 48:09Speaker 8: Oh, right. Well, we finished it.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Well, I finished it.
- 48:11Speaker 8: And it just seems like they had no idea where
- 48:13Speaker 8: they were going. I mean, I enjoyed the show.
- 48:15Speaker 2: I think it was already at that point last time.
- 48:17Speaker 8: Maybe I did finish it.
- 48:18Speaker 2: It doesn't round out any better.
- 48:21Speaker 8: No, it just ends, and then you're like, what the
- 48:24Speaker 8: fuck just happened? All right, so apparently we talked about
- 48:27Speaker 8: Stand Against Evil. Did we discuss Stand Against Evil?
- 48:29Speaker 10: No. We discussed that it's cool and Dana's cool, but
- 48:34Speaker 10: I don't think I heard.
- 48:35Speaker 2: What's your take on how far into it did you get?
- 48:38Speaker 8: We watched all that there is to watch.
- 48:40Speaker 10: I know it's not coming back now.
- 48:43Speaker 8: Which is heartbreaking because that's one of the best new
- 48:47Speaker 8: shows that there was. It was so hilarious.
- 48:50Speaker 11: Very well written.
- 48:51Speaker 8: It was incredibly well written. It was a Dana thing.
- 48:53Speaker 10: Dana Gould, that's what he's done.
- 48:54Speaker 1: He was, like, 20 years ago, he was working on
- 48:56Speaker 1: The Simpsons, being a great writer. So, like, he's always
- 48:58Speaker 1: been a good stand-up and, like, just a solid writer.
- 49:02Speaker 1: So it doesn't surprise me that it's a well-written story.
- 49:04Speaker 8: And that guy who's on, is it John C. McKinley?
- 49:06Speaker 10: I know, yeah, the main guy.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Dr.
- 49:09Speaker 8: Cox is on there. Even when I got to the
- 49:14Speaker 8: point where I hated Scrubs, I still love Dr. Cox.
- 49:18Speaker 2: He's pretty entertaining as an actor.
- 49:21Speaker 8: His daughter on the show, she's what, 30-something and still
- 49:25Speaker 8: living at home?
- 49:26Speaker 11: It happens.
- 49:30Speaker 8: She's hilarious. Everything about that show, from top to bottom,
- 49:33Speaker 8: beginning to end, it's hilarious. And it's like, it makes
- 49:38Speaker 8: me sad that they're not going to make any more.
- 49:40Speaker 10: And at this point, you never know, maybe some weird
- 49:43Speaker 10: cable network or come back and.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Revive it or something.
- 49:47Speaker 1: You, If things are so weird now, you really can't
- 49:49Speaker 1: tell what's going to happen. But at the moment, I
- 49:51Speaker 1: know last episode of his show I listened to, he
- 49:54Speaker 1: said it was pretty much done and he was already
- 49:56Speaker 1: trying to move on to a new project.
- 49:58Speaker 8: There was no good wrap up on it, which sucks
- 50:00Speaker 8: because it was one of those words like, and then
- 50:04Speaker 8: we'll find out what happens in the next season.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Or not.
- 50:08Speaker 8: And then there is no next season. And then you're
- 50:11Speaker 8: just like, fuck, what's happening now? Yeah. I tried to
- 50:18Speaker 8: watch a show.
- 50:19Speaker 10: All right.
- 50:20Speaker 8: I got the first season in. I think you were
- 50:22Speaker 8: there for part of it, boyfriend. Yeah. You weren't pleased
- 50:27Speaker 8: with it either, I don't think.
- 50:28Speaker 10: No.
- 50:30Speaker 8: Do you even know what I'm talking about? No.
- 50:33Speaker 2: What'd you say?
- 50:34Speaker 10: Are any of us surprised by this?
- 50:36Speaker 2: No.
- 50:37Speaker 8: I tried to watch Dirk Gently, the holistic detective.
- 50:41Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
- 50:41Speaker 11: No, I watched that.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:43Speaker 11: It was okay.
- 50:45Speaker 8: I tried, and I tried to like it, but The
- 50:48Speaker 8: Dirk Gently guy is just kind of annoying.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Is it the actor or the character itself?
- 50:53Speaker 11: I think it's the character.
- 50:55Speaker 2: I think it's both.
- 50:56Speaker 1: I always loved the Douglas Adams stuff, but again, Douglas
- 50:59Speaker 1: Adams is a weird, super dry kind of comedy. It's
- 51:04Speaker 1: British and dry piled together, so it's like its own
- 51:07Speaker 1: level of.
- 51:09Speaker 11: I was annoyed with the character Spastic.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Just.
- 51:16Speaker 11: He was all over the place.
- 51:19Speaker 8: I was more annoyed by Elijah Wood's constant crying about adventures.
- 51:24Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah. Both of those things kind of annoyed me. Yeah,
- 51:29Speaker 11: Elijah Wood was a bitch and now he needed a
- 51:31Speaker 11: fucking man up i was tired and.
- 51:33Speaker 10: I like him in most things but this is it
- 51:36Speaker 10: was weird that they were even making this.
- 51:38Speaker 11: Into a show of some sort well it's like dude
- 51:40Speaker 11: your life sucks and you're getting to go on a
- 51:42Speaker 11: fucking awesome adventure quit crying and.
- 51:45Speaker 8: It's all he did the entire fucking first season that's
- 51:48Speaker 8: all i got was i got i think we did
- 51:50Speaker 8: at least finish the first season His sister was... I
- 51:53Speaker 8: loved his sister.
- 51:53Speaker 11: I liked his sister.
- 51:54Speaker 8: His sister was pretty damn rowdy. But all he did...
- 51:58Speaker 8: And I'm just like... I liked the idea of the show,
- 52:02Speaker 8: I guess. But just all... And the... Fiona Dorff? Is
- 52:07Speaker 8: that right?
- 52:09Speaker 2: If you say so.
- 52:10Speaker 8: Brad Dorff's daughter?
- 52:11Speaker 2: I think you mentioned he had a daughter.
- 52:15Speaker 8: You know, the guy who does Choose Chucky.
- 52:17Speaker 10: Anyway.
- 52:19Speaker 8: Brad Dorff. Oh, Brad.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Dorff?
- 52:21Speaker 5: Dorff?
- 52:22Speaker 8: I don't know how to... Dorff?
- 52:23Speaker 10: I think it's Dorff.
- 52:24Speaker 8: Dorff?
- 52:24Speaker 10: Not Steven Dorff. No.
- 52:26Speaker 8: Brad Dorff.
- 52:27Speaker 11: Brad Dorff.
- 52:27Speaker 10: Yes. And she is in the later Chucky movies.
- 52:32Speaker 8: Anyways, his daughter, she plays... I guess she's kind of like... Their...
- 52:38Speaker 8: Dirk is kind of like... He's special. No, it's like
- 52:43Speaker 8: they're a group of... They're all like this... I don't
- 52:46Speaker 8: even know how to say it. They're a certain group
- 52:50Speaker 8: of people. And they're similar, but they're different from everybody else.
- 52:54Speaker 8: That probably made no goddamn sense.
- 52:55Speaker 2: They're on the spectrum.
- 52:57Speaker 8: Yeah, something like that. Anyway, she's batshit crazy. And she
- 53:01Speaker 8: has this whole thing where it's like things happen for
- 53:03Speaker 8: a reason. This is my goal. This is my destiny.
- 53:06Speaker 8: Everything happens will get me to where I need to go.
- 53:10Speaker 8: Doesn't matter what happens. Things will happen to get me
- 53:12Speaker 8: where I need to go. To kill who I need
- 53:14Speaker 8: to kill. Because that's what she does. Because she's a
- 53:16Speaker 8: hitman and all she does is kill people the entire time.
- 53:19Speaker 7: All right.
- 53:20Speaker 2: Good to have a job.
- 53:22Speaker 8: She is batshit crazy. And she's pretty cool. She didn't
- 53:27Speaker 8: complain the whole goddamn time. Even when she got shot
- 53:29Speaker 8: in the leg or something.
- 53:30Speaker 10: Nope.
- 53:33Speaker 8: Dude, seriously. There's mind. There's body switching. There's a girl
- 53:38Speaker 8: in a dog's body. A dog in a girl's body.
- 53:43Speaker 2: Sounds like wacky adventures.
- 53:45Speaker 8: There's time travel, I'm pretty sure. Yeah, there's time travel.
- 53:51Speaker 8: But just, if you can get past, I was hoping
- 53:54Speaker 8: that maybe by season two he would quit crying. But
- 53:57Speaker 8: I couldn't start it to get to the point where
- 54:00Speaker 8: he would quit crying. But all Elijah Wood, I mean,
- 54:03Speaker 8: I adore Elijah Wood. I think he's adorable. It's not
- 54:07Speaker 8: even him. I'm sure it's written that way. That character
- 54:10Speaker 8: is supposed to be a whiny little bitch. But that's
- 54:12Speaker 8: all he does the entire first season.
- 54:17Speaker 10: I don't want to do this.
- 54:19Speaker 8: I don't want to.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Go on adventures. I want to sit here and be miserable.
- 54:22Speaker 8: Shut the fuck up, dude. Put on your big boy
- 54:26Speaker 8: britches and go on adventures.
- 54:29Speaker 10: Well, you're giving this quite an endorsement. I definitely need to.
- 54:32Speaker 8: Find this now. Maybe season two is better. I don't know.
- 54:35Speaker 8: It did have its ups and downs. If you can
- 54:37Speaker 8: deal with him crying, it's okay. Maybe it gets better.
- 54:39Speaker 8: It did have a lot of really interesting, the whole,
- 54:42Speaker 8: because there's body, like I said, there's the body switching
- 54:44Speaker 8: and there's time machines and If you're a fan of
- 54:49Speaker 8: the Douglas guy, what's his name?
- 54:51Speaker 2: Douglas Adams is pretty on.
- 54:53Speaker 8: He's the same guy who did the Hitchhiker's Guide to
- 54:55Speaker 8: the Galaxy and stuff like that, which I knew, which
- 54:57Speaker 8: I recognize the name, surprisingly enough. I mean, I don't
- 55:00Speaker 8: really give a shit about Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
- 55:02Speaker 8: I mean, I've seen the movie that has Martin Freeman.
- 55:07Speaker 10: Martin Freeman.
- 55:09Speaker 8: Martin Freeman, yeah. People want to call him Morgan Freeman.
- 55:12Speaker 8: I'm like, that's totally the wrong person.
- 55:14Speaker 2: That whole story I really got into.
- 55:16Speaker 7: That, again.
- 55:17Speaker 10: Knowing me the way that you do, knowing I don't
- 55:20Speaker 10: know how to read.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Pop-ups?
- 55:22Speaker 10: That one goes back.
- 55:23Speaker 2: No, that goes back to I got the book on
- 55:26Speaker 2: tape version of the entire. I think it was on
- 55:30Speaker 2: a bridge because it's like tapes. Like it goes on.
- 55:33Speaker 1: So it's a pretty extensive version of it. But they
- 55:36Speaker 1: did a really good job. I think it may have
- 55:38Speaker 1: been the same ones they used when they did it
- 55:39Speaker 1: on BBC Audio because it had sound.
- 55:42Speaker 10: Effects and stuff worked in, so it was really well
- 55:44Speaker 10: put together.
- 55:45Speaker 11: Yeah, I need to get that because I had.
- 55:49Speaker 11: I had, what was it, Return of the Jedi? Star
- 55:51Speaker 11: Wars Return of the Jedi and Empire Strikes Back all
- 55:54Speaker 11: on cassette tape. And they were done kind of in
- 55:56Speaker 11: a similar manner.
- 55:56Speaker 1: And those were, I think, taken from the original screenplay.
- 55:59Speaker 1: So sometimes the story is, or they'll have extra scenes
- 56:02Speaker 1: of like characters that didn't even make.
- 56:04Speaker 2: It into the movie that have stuff in the radio drama.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Which that's pretty much what they did with the Douglas
- 56:09Speaker 1: Adams stuff. But then I also, again, well before there
- 56:11Speaker 1: was a movie... I was enough of a dork that
- 56:14Speaker 1: I started watching, I think I like taped them all
- 56:17Speaker 1: or something, like all of the BBC production, which has
- 56:21Speaker 1: a budget of about $ 4, by the way. So trying
- 56:23Speaker 1: to see a dude with three arms and two heads,
- 56:26Speaker 1: it don't look good. Let me tell you now, just
- 56:28Speaker 1: be warned. But if you put all the, again, like
- 56:30Speaker 1: that's one of those I've always said about cheesy movies.
- 56:32Speaker 1: I'm like, budget limitations aside, as long as you get
- 56:36Speaker 1: the message, I can put it out of the way
- 56:38Speaker 1: and just like, if the writing's good, if the performances
- 56:40Speaker 1: are good, I'm fine with it all.
- 56:41Speaker 2: And that's kind of how that one works. Like it's
- 56:43Speaker 2: so cheap budget wise.
- 56:46Speaker 1: Because, you know, BBC doesn't have that kind of money
- 56:48Speaker 1: or certainly didn't in like the early 80s, I guess,
- 56:51Speaker 1: when they were producing that. But like it's still so
- 56:54Speaker 1: damn entertaining. And like the Douglas Adams like wit is
- 56:57Speaker 1: like sewn in there so deeply that like I always
- 57:01Speaker 1: loved those stories. And they went through the first several
- 57:03Speaker 1: books like that. So, yeah, I wasn't I was really
- 57:06Speaker 1: invested in those that whole first trilogy that he put
- 57:10Speaker 1: out so but i never i never got to the
- 57:12Speaker 1: dirt gently.
- 57:12Speaker 8: Stuff i didn't have a lot invested so i wasn't
- 57:15Speaker 8: i didn't know what to expect going into it and
- 57:17Speaker 8: i was just like.
- 57:18Speaker 9: Oh i got i got hulu i'll watch this it's
- 57:22Speaker 9: one of those huh i'll give this a chat yeah
- 57:25Speaker 9: which leads us to our next one which was another
- 57:27Speaker 9: one of those huh this could work um.
- 57:31Speaker 8: This one i know you watch because we powered through
- 57:33Speaker 8: it in like two days because it was so funny
- 57:38Speaker 8: I've seen if you have any sparklers, anything.
- 57:42Speaker 2: No.
- 57:43Speaker 8: Wasted.
- 57:44Speaker 11: Oh, dude, Wasted was awesome. I like Wasted.
- 57:48Speaker 2: Wasted was great.
- 57:49Speaker 8: As much as I don't care for, like, drug culture
- 57:51Speaker 8: or the people who do drugs, good goddamn.
- 57:54Speaker 11: British comedy.
- 57:55Speaker 10: That's what I was going to say.
- 57:56Speaker 2: I don't think I know much about this one.
- 57:57Speaker 11: British comedy about, I guess, these four people that are,
- 58:03Speaker 11: I guess, out of college, would you say?
- 58:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:07Speaker 11: College age or out of college um they're in a
- 58:11Speaker 11: small town in england um and uh one one of
- 58:15Speaker 11: their friends runs a head shop of course of course
- 58:18Speaker 11: and one of the other ones who left for college
- 58:20Speaker 11: is back had come back to the little small town
- 58:24Speaker 11: and so it's basically just.
- 58:27Speaker 8: Their shenanigans it's mostly.
- 58:29Speaker 11: Just them getting fucked up during the whole thing but
- 58:31Speaker 11: the best.
- 58:31Speaker 8: Part some of the shit's fucking hilarious his spirit guide
- 58:36Speaker 8: His spirit guide is... Sean Bean. Like, a full-on, like,
- 58:43Speaker 8: Game of Thrones outfit. It's Sean Bean playing Sean Bean.
- 58:48Speaker 11: Like an Obi-Wan Kenobi, he appears to him in ghost form.
- 58:51Speaker 8: In the forest.
- 58:52Speaker 11: In the forest. Shit like that.
- 58:54Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 58:56Speaker 11: But there's all kinds of just straight weird stuff. Like, there's,
- 59:01Speaker 11: you know, them having to deal with, like, hippie parties and.
- 59:05Speaker 8: The didgeridoo.
- 59:07Speaker 11: The didgeridoo, yeah.
- 59:09Speaker 10: Everybody needs a good didgeridoo.
- 59:10Speaker 2: Every once in a while.
- 59:12Speaker 11: Them finding out one of their friends is a street shitter.
- 59:15Speaker 8: Because the other guy....
- 59:19Speaker 11: Oh no, he puts it in his pocket.
- 59:21Speaker 8: He picks it up because he's like, no, you are
- 59:23Speaker 8: not going to be a street shitter. He picks it up.
- 59:27Speaker 8: He carries it in his bag the entire time.
- 59:30Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 59:30Speaker 8: And it comes, like, eventually.
- 59:33Speaker 11: It came out of the bag, but how?
- 59:35Speaker 9: They were at the restaurant.
- 59:36Speaker 10: That's right.
- 59:36Speaker 8: And it flung up in the air and it hit
- 59:39Speaker 8: the ceiling fan.
- 59:40Speaker 11: That's right.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Well, you can say that.
- 59:44Speaker 10: No, never mind.
- 59:46Speaker 8: And then one of the, the girl who has to
- 59:48Speaker 8: try to get her life, that was the same episode.
- 59:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 59:50Speaker 8: Because they were trying to get her back to town
- 59:51Speaker 8: because she, She doesn't have her license. So the whole
- 59:55Speaker 8: episode is her trying to get drunk enough so that
- 59:57Speaker 8: she's ready to get her driver's license. Because if she
- 1:00:01Speaker 8: gets drunk now, she can sober up before she has
- 1:00:04Speaker 8: to go get her license. Yeah.
- 1:00:06Speaker 11: They're constantly just getting wasted. Which is the title. But
- 1:00:11Speaker 11: one of the guys.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Fair one.
- 1:00:13Speaker 11: What's the other guy? The kind of heavyset guy that's...
- 1:00:17Speaker 11: What's his name? They've got an episode in there where
- 1:00:19Speaker 11: he wants to become the Whatever. It's some kind of
- 1:00:23Speaker 11: tree spirit. Because they have a festival.
- 1:00:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:00:27Speaker 11: And he wants to be the tree, the mascot. And
- 1:00:30Speaker 11: he actually gets to be the mascot.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: Yeah. It's just like Burning Man. They light him on fire.
- 1:00:37Speaker 7: No.
- 1:00:37Speaker 11: There's dancing.
- 1:00:39Speaker 7: There's dancing.
- 1:00:39Speaker 11: Yeah, there's some. It's a messed up show, but it's, God,
- 1:00:44Speaker 11: it's fucking hilarious. That one's another one that's really well written.
- 1:00:48Speaker 8: And it is. Like I said, I was just, I'm like,
- 1:00:50Speaker 8: As well as you don't really... I'd never heard anything
- 1:00:52Speaker 8: about it.
- 1:00:53Speaker 7: No.
- 1:00:54Speaker 8: And I don't even know how... As well as maybe
- 1:00:56Speaker 8: I saw it on a list of shows that you're
- 1:00:58Speaker 8: not watching that you should be watching. And I'm like, well,
- 1:01:01Speaker 8: I will watch it and see what happens.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: You got suckered right into their trap.
- 1:01:04Speaker 11: You know, the thing is, too, is like it's not
- 1:01:07Speaker 11: one of those where you have to be, you know,
- 1:01:08Speaker 11: you got to be a pothead to get it, man.
- 1:01:11Speaker 11: You know, or anything like that. I mean... I didn't
- 1:01:14Speaker 11: do it.
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: Or a street shitter. Or a street shitter.
- 1:01:16Speaker 11: I didn't, you know, I didn't.
- 1:01:18Speaker 10: So you're claiming you're not a street shitter.
- 1:01:21Speaker 11: You know, I didn't have a very exciting young adulthood.
- 1:01:25Speaker 11: I stayed away from drugs and stuff like that. But
- 1:01:27Speaker 11: all my friends got into it.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Of course.
- 1:01:30Speaker 11: So, you know.
- 1:01:31Speaker 8: Just say no, little Bob.
- 1:01:32Speaker 11: I was used to seeing them fuck up. I was
- 1:01:37Speaker 11: smarter in that aspect. I learned by watching other people
- 1:01:41Speaker 11: fuck up. And knew not to do shit like huff
- 1:01:43Speaker 11: gasoline or huff gold paint out of a paper bag.
- 1:01:47Speaker 8: Oh, my uncle did that. Oh, did he? Yay!
- 1:01:49Speaker 11: Oh, good for him.
- 1:01:51Speaker 10: He got the cool paint ring going.
- 1:01:53Speaker 11: Around his face.
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:54Speaker 11: So there was a lot of funny-ass shit going on there.
- 1:01:57Speaker 11: But I could identify it with this show, too. And
- 1:01:59Speaker 11: even if I didn't, I still could because it's very
- 1:02:01Speaker 11: well written.
- 1:02:03Speaker 8: But there's not a lot of it. Was there, what, one,
- 1:02:05Speaker 8: two seasons maybe?
- 1:02:06Speaker 11: I thought there was only one season.
- 1:02:08Speaker 8: I thought it was two really short ones.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: Well, again, the British ones are usually way shorter.
- 1:02:13Speaker 10: It is like six episodes a lot of times in
- 1:02:15Speaker 10: one of their seasons or sometimes not even that if
- 1:02:18Speaker 10: it's one of.
- 1:02:18Speaker 8: Those limited runs. But they were short episodes too, I think.
- 1:02:22Speaker 8: Maybe a half an hour, 20 minutes.
- 1:02:24Speaker 7: 22 minutes.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: Yeah, even ours are some version of that.
- 1:02:27Speaker 11: Yeah, it only had one series. It was only one series.
- 1:02:31Speaker 11: It had six episodes is all it had.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: No wonder you're marathon.
- 1:02:34Speaker 8: Two days.
- 1:02:34Speaker 10: Yeah, so it.
- 1:02:36Speaker 11: Was released in July. of 2016 and ran to August.
- 1:02:41Speaker 11: It was a very short, short-lived show.
- 1:02:44Speaker 10: Again, that's usually how the British shows are. Yeah.
- 1:02:47Speaker 8: But the fact that Sean Bean was in it as
- 1:02:49Speaker 8: Sean Bean, being his spirit guide, that was fucking hilarious.
- 1:02:54Speaker 8: It's him playing him.
- 1:02:56Speaker 11: Him playing himself, yeah.
- 1:02:58Speaker 8: With the whole, he's got the Game of Thrones, I've
- 1:03:01Speaker 8: never seen Game of Thrones, I'm assuming that's what he's
- 1:03:03Speaker 8: going for. Yeah. But it's him trying to yell, Sean Bean, like, dude,
- 1:03:07Speaker 8: get your shit together. I'm giving him advice on dating girls,
- 1:03:11Speaker 8: because there's a girl he's in love with. Oh, there's
- 1:03:14Speaker 8: the S & M party. We forgot about the S
- 1:03:16Speaker 8: & M.
- 1:03:16Speaker 11: The S & M party.
- 1:03:17Speaker 8: Oh, gosh.
- 1:03:17Speaker 11: That was a huge... Yeah, some of the episodes....
- 1:03:24Speaker 8: The wacky shenanigans.
- 1:03:25Speaker 11: Yeah, I'll just... The first episode title was 90s Pills.
- 1:03:31Speaker 11: The second one was The Odyssey.
- 1:03:32Speaker 10: Um.
- 1:03:35Speaker 11: You know, third one, the other pub. They all end
- 1:03:37Speaker 11: up going to a different bar that's not the normal
- 1:03:39Speaker 11: bar they go to. The Berry Man. That's the one
- 1:03:42Speaker 11: where he was.
- 1:03:43Speaker 8: The Berry Man.
- 1:03:43Speaker 11: Yeah, he's asked to play the Berry Man at the
- 1:03:45Speaker 11: Berry Man Festival. The Berry Man.
- 1:03:48Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:03:51Speaker 11: Come Down Day. That was the fifth episode. And the
- 1:03:53Speaker 11: sixth one was the sex party. That was the one
- 1:03:56Speaker 11: where they go to the... Sex party? They go to
- 1:04:00Speaker 11: the sex party just because they were like, they didn't
- 1:04:01Speaker 11: have anything to do.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: So.
- 1:04:05Speaker 11: Yeah, they break into the mansion. But apparently it's a
- 1:04:08Speaker 11: huge letdown because it's like, I think most of the
- 1:04:11Speaker 11: people that they know in town are at the sex party.
- 1:04:13Speaker 8: I think one of their teachers was there.
- 1:04:15Speaker 11: One of their teachers, yeah.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: They've learned a lot.
- 1:04:19Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:04:21Speaker 8: Should we go on to the next thing? Yeah. Should
- 1:04:25Speaker 8: we still keep with stuff we watched a long time
- 1:04:28Speaker 8: ago and then what we watched most recently or stick
- 1:04:31Speaker 8: with TV shows?
- 1:04:32Speaker 7: Whatever.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: You can remember that you've seen.
- 1:04:36Speaker 8: I went back and rewatched the entire Scream movie franchise.
- 1:04:40Speaker 10: As someone who just a week ago was standing relatively
- 1:04:45Speaker 10: close in the same room to Neve Campbell.
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: By the way, looks really damn good.
- 1:04:51Speaker 8: Does she look better than Skeet?
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: I mean, you know, Skeet's just Skeet. He grows up.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: That's how shit goes. But Neve, Neve looks damn good.
- 1:05:01Speaker 8: You didn't take any stalker pictures?
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: No i was trying not to be too creepy i
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: was just like since when i mean since the restraining
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: order i'm not supposed to anyway that's a different story but.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: No no nev looked really good.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: And i did again if if if she's up for
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: it we need to have her on to talk about
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: all these green movies that you have recently re-watched oh
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: yeah i just.
- 1:05:25Speaker 8: Got a head hankering i'm like you know i want
- 1:05:27Speaker 8: I don't think I'd seen, aside from the first one,
- 1:05:30Speaker 8: which I've watched numerous times. The first one's a classic.
- 1:05:33Speaker 8: You can't go wrong with the first one. It's the
- 1:05:36Speaker 8: perfect movie.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: It does work on its own, where truthfully, I like
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: all of them, but the first one being what.
- 1:05:43Speaker 10: It is, you can kind of, yeah.
- 1:05:46Speaker 8: Could you feel the grimace of my face through that?
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but if you don't count the last 15 to
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: 20 minutes on the next two, they're great. I think
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: they're still solid. but they always have to come up
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: with a crazy ending.
- 1:06:00Speaker 8: And they failed. I didn't like that.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I really don't like the second ending. The second one
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: bothered me. The third one, I liked the third movie
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: a lot more than most people because I think it
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: does some really clever things. The second one just kind of,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: it doesn't totally rehash, but I feel like there's so
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: much more potential they had to do with her going
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: to go to college or do something different and open
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: up a whole new, but I don't know. They just
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: kind of, even expand it a little bit.
- 1:06:26Speaker 8: Timothy oliphant couldn't save this one and i he's barely
- 1:06:29Speaker 8: in it i know which is like he's gonna be
- 1:06:32Speaker 8: one of your killers spoiler alert i mean seriously this
- 1:06:36Speaker 8: dude this movie's been out for a while.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: But again that i mean that's my problem with that
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: one in general it's like again.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: Spoilers for scream 2 but.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: Like the fact that Like, what works so well, spoilers
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: for Scream, what works so well is when we get
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: to the big reveal, not only does it, at the time,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: do something that was a little different, was making two
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: killers instead of one, but also the fact that they
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: were people that we knew. Like, they were involved in
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: this movie the whole time. They were our friends, you know?
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: You get to know that whole group of people. So
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: the fact that not just one, but two of our
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: main characters are the killers.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: It's a huge thing.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: So to follow it up with Scream 2, I'll be like, hey,
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: here's two random people you barely fucking saw in this movie.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Hey, guess what?
- 1:07:21Speaker 10: They're the killers.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, you've already done the two people thing,
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: so that's not original anymore. And now you picked... people
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: we don't even know?
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that way you can't figure it out. Hey, is
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: that Jackie? Why is she in this movie?
- 1:07:34Speaker 11: Can't figure it out if you don't know who the
- 1:07:36Speaker 11: characters are.
- 1:07:38Speaker 8: Switcheroo.
- 1:07:40Speaker 10: That's why I'm so annoyed with the second one.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: I think that reveal is bullshit.
- 1:07:44Speaker 8: I had not seen these. since they came out.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: I think most of the rest of it's pretty solid. Again,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: I wish they would have done a little more to
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: expand on it, but I still think the tension is
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: kind of there. The kills are interesting. But again, it's
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: been a long time since I watched it.
- 1:07:59Speaker 8: I don't know, the third one fell flat for me too.
- 1:08:00Speaker 8: I did not care.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: I like the third one just because it plays, it
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: gets to be one of those movies that plays with
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: its own conventions. By the time they already get to
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: the third one, it is its own, like they're making
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: fun of the Stab series. And then they start, like,
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: the fact that they're doing a.
- 1:08:17Speaker 10: They're.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: Planting these murders on the set of the first movie.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Like, any movie that can kind of, like, revolve back
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: around into its own plot line is.
- 1:08:27Speaker 10: I don't know. I love when they start playing with that.
- 1:08:29Speaker 8: I guess just the reveal itself. I'm disappointed in who
- 1:08:33Speaker 8: the killers were.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: I mean, again, that one seems like.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: It's not as random, but it's such a stretch to
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: be like, okay, we're going to go reach way back
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: and come up with a backstory that you didn't really
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: know you needed because you kind of didn't in that
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: first movie.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: So whatever. So it's, again, bullshit reasons. But by the end,
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: I'm like, all right, well, here's at least a person.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: I don't even hate that big finale.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: I just hate that that reveal is kind of dumb.
- 1:08:59Speaker 9: Why?
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: Importantly fucking courtney cox's bangs i have never in my
- 1:09:06Speaker 8: entire life it's like did a fucking lawnmower attacker because
- 1:09:10Speaker 8: literally her.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Bangs it doesn't it doesn't matter I have two words
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: that will save any movie.
- 1:09:17Speaker 8: Parker Posey.
- 1:09:18Speaker 10: Parker Posey. Good Lord, I love Parker Posey.
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: No, hold on.
- 1:09:21Speaker 8: It's four words. Bat shit, crazy, Parker Posey. And yes,
- 1:09:25Speaker 8: bat shit is one word.
- 1:09:26Speaker 10: It's hyphenated.
- 1:09:27Speaker 7: It's okay.
- 1:09:27Speaker 8: No, it's one bat shit.
- 1:09:30Speaker 10: I'm hyphenating it in my head, which still makes it
- 1:09:32Speaker 10: one word.
- 1:09:32Speaker 8: Okay.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: So yeah, I love Parker Posey so damn much. She
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: is an insane person.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: But she's so damn good. She is so committed to
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: most of her crazy roles. And, like, she is just.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Her, again, her mimicking Courtney Cox and, like, becoming the
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: stand-in version of that character.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: Is so damn funny.
- 1:09:54Speaker 8: Oh, my God.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: That's one more reason I think I love the third
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: one so much. There's just so much Parker Posey being
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: a crackhead.
- 1:10:02Speaker 10: Parker Posey.
- 1:10:04Speaker 8: And then the fourth one. I liked... The fourth one
- 1:10:08Speaker 8: was better to me. I liked that one better than
- 1:10:10Speaker 8: two and three.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, again, I... I think I'm just.
- 1:10:15Speaker 10: I so wanted them to go a different direction with
- 1:10:17Speaker 10: that one.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: I was like, okay, you capped off the trilogy, and
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: it had its very repetitive things that it kept having
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: to do to live up to the first one. But
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: it was like a decade later, it's time for new
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: rules is the way that they say it, and they
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: just fall right back into the same crap they.
- 1:10:33Speaker 8: Did in the other ones. I didn't like that they
- 1:10:37Speaker 8: fell back on family for the third one, so... But
- 1:10:40Speaker 8: I liked the way they did it better for the
- 1:10:42Speaker 8: fourth one. It's like.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: It also had another great benefit of a crazy person
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: that we love.
- 1:10:46Speaker 8: Oh, because good goddamn, I adore Emma Roberts. And her,
- 1:10:50Speaker 8: she is just.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: I think that's the thing that swung it. Like, I wasn't,
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: I'd only seen her in one or two things before that.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: And then finally I saw her in screen form.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, oh, she's committed. Like, this is, this
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: is a hell of a performance by the time you
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: get to the end. So.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: I do like her, but that's why, and that's why
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: if you go back a million years, when we talked
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: about it the first time, like that's what I said,
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: which has become my running theme as a film reviewer.
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: Cause I don't review the film I watched. I try
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: to write a better movie.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: So like my screenplay services will be up soon available. I,
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: I don't know. I want to readjust to what's there
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: and turn it into a better movie. And that's what
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: I want to do with this one is like, How
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: awesome would it have been to, first of all, we.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: Need to kill some of those regular old characters.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Like, it's funny that Dewey keeps living, but Courtney Cox
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: needs to go.
- 1:11:39Speaker 8: For some reason in my head, I had thought that
- 1:11:41Speaker 8: she had died at some point.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: I thought she died in the barn.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: Like, I'm watching it that first time. I'm like, all right,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: this is it. It's time to take out Gale.
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: Let's do this.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: They fucking back out of it again i'm like wes
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: come on kill this character like she's like she's not
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: she's just dead weight to the story now like you
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: need to weed through all these other and even as
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: much as i again what a good performance nev gives
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: but i'm just like it would be so cool to
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: kind of like hand this off like have her get
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: killed midway in and that's what i said at the
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: time i was like wouldn't it be super fucking original
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: to take this new series of Scream movies and have
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: it pivot to the killer's perspective, where now Emma Roberts
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: becomes our main character. I mean, they're passing the torch.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: These were the old characters.
- 1:12:24Speaker 10: They're gone.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: She's the new young actress.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Give her a whole new trilogy, and then watch her
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: just be a crazy person and go.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: Around fucking killing people. I'm like, that would be so cool.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Again, it'd be funny if Dewey still lives, and he's
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: chasing her through the next trilogy.
- 1:12:39Speaker 10: It depends.
- 1:12:40Speaker 8: Does he have the limp or not? Because that shit
- 1:12:42Speaker 8: disappeared halfway through.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 1:12:43Speaker 8: Yes, he had this whole little, oh, I got a limp,
- 1:12:46Speaker 8: I got hurt. And during like the second movie and
- 1:12:48Speaker 8: then part of the third movie and by the fourth movie,
- 1:12:50Speaker 8: he's fine.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: Well, you know, it healed up.
- 1:12:53Speaker 10: So I don't know. Yeah.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: I mean, to me, it would have been kind of
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: interesting to kill off most of our original people and
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: hand off the trilogy, a new trilogy, which Granite West
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: never got to do more than four.
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: But it'd be.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Kind of cool to turn it into a different style
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: of movie and not be the whodunit slasher. But now
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: we know who the killer is. And it's more like
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: American Psycho. You know, it's like we're following this crazy
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: person go around and kill people.
- 1:13:17Speaker 8: And I don't know.
- 1:13:18Speaker 10: I thought at the time that would be interesting. And
- 1:13:20Speaker 10: I'm kind of sticking with it.
- 1:13:21Speaker 8: Did you ever watch the TV show?
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: The Scream?
- 1:13:24Speaker 10: No.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: I saw that first episode, I think.
- 1:13:28Speaker 10: I don't even know.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: I don't even think I got into that. I saw
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: the other one. The other crazy person. Scream Queens.
- 1:13:33Speaker 8: Oh, with Emma Roberts.
- 1:13:33Speaker 10: I started watching that with Emma Roberts. That's why I
- 1:13:35Speaker 10: get them all mixed up in my head. But no,
- 1:13:37Speaker 10: I don't think I got any of the Scream TV show.
- 1:13:39Speaker 8: I need to go back and watch it again because
- 1:13:41Speaker 8: I remember liking it, but I remember they had a
- 1:13:43Speaker 8: lot more. It was MTV, so they had a lot
- 1:13:46Speaker 8: more of the teen drama.
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: Well, of course.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: That's not what made them, but it's certainly what made
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: them a hell of a lot of money.
- 1:13:53Speaker 8: So yeah, it became like a soap opera version of Scream.
- 1:13:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:13:57Speaker 8: I mean, I still enjoyed it. I do want to
- 1:14:00Speaker 8: go back and re-watch it again. I'm pretty sure I
- 1:14:02Speaker 8: liked it better than 2 and 3, but I still
- 1:14:04Speaker 8: liked 4 better. Part of me is like, maybe in
- 1:14:08Speaker 8: my world I can pretend like 2 and 3 didn't exist,
- 1:14:11Speaker 8: and it's just 1 and 4. And cut out Courtney
- 1:14:14Speaker 8: Cox and her shitty-ass bangs, and we can just have
- 1:14:16Speaker 8: it that way. I mean, I dislike that they used
- 1:14:18Speaker 8: family two movies in a row.
- 1:14:20Speaker 7: Again.
- 1:14:20Speaker 10: I mean, it became the whole series.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: Like, that's all it was about, including into the fourth one. Like,
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: it always became some sort of family connection.
- 1:14:28Speaker 8: Well, because I mean, third one, it was her brother.
- 1:14:31Speaker 8: Fourth one, it's her cousin. You know, it's like, you
- 1:14:33Speaker 8: could have.
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: That's what I said. Like, totally go a different direction, man.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: But that's not what it is.
- 1:14:38Speaker 8: Spoiler alert!
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: No offense, Wes was a cool dude. I am sad
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: that he doesn't get to do any more Scream.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: Movies, but.
- 1:14:45Speaker 8: And I'm like, I'm watching them and I'm like, I'm
- 1:14:47Speaker 8: watching them relatively close together, like back to, not really
- 1:14:50Speaker 8: back to back, but within a short span of time
- 1:14:52Speaker 8: and I'm like, Really? You all can't mention Tatum ever again?
- 1:14:55Speaker 8: She was like your best friend. And you're like, oh, well,
- 1:14:58Speaker 8: we're never going to mention her again. I'm like.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: Whatever, she's dead.
- 1:15:01Speaker 8: Dude, really.
- 1:15:02Speaker 10: That's what she gets for not surviving the first movie.
- 1:15:04Speaker 8: Even like Dewey, I think maybe she's mentioned maybe once
- 1:15:07Speaker 8: in the rest of the three movies. I'm like, this
- 1:15:09Speaker 8: is your sister who was brutally murdered. And you're just, oh, well,
- 1:15:13Speaker 8: I guess that she doesn't... She never existed. I'm like, holy.
- 1:15:17Speaker 10: Shit, dude. Even Randy gets to make an appearance in
- 1:15:20Speaker 10: the third one.
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: Even when he's dead. Exactly. uh i don't know i.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: Still like so much about them but it is weird
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: i i mentioned this on a a recent semi-recent episode
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: where i was i went back and watched another west
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: craven from kind of that same time period it is
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: weird what a like comedic tone his movies like the
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: last half of his career had such a light to
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: even when like death and murder is on the line
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: it's like it's just seen like like there's just an
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: air of kind of lightness that goes through all of
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: his and the more i thought about it i was
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: like post scream like it really kind of turned that
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: on for him and he just i think he liked
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: that tone and like kind of stuck with it even
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: in the non-screen ones it's like the other stuff i've
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: watched from that era is like yep he's just kind
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: of having a good time.
- 1:16:11Speaker 8: And i'm not sure i'm familiar with.
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: Uh cursed is scream and a half oh gosh i
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: think i've seen it i have um oh my god
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: is that christina yeah it's so scream like it is
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: scream with werewolves it is completely the exact same who
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: else was in that who was the guy uh eisenberg
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: is her brother jesse eisenberg it's not i liked it
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: again because i like scream and like it's like it
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: is silly as hell but i'm like scream is really
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: if you want to think about the again the tone
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: of what's going on there it's it's nothing but fun
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: and that's why i like those movies so much so
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: it's cursed is like that too like it's just that
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: same light to attitude i just re-watched uh red eye
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: i'd never got or i started watching it years ago
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: and never finished i just went and watched it's that
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: same thing it's like Life and death is on the line,
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: but it's got this just sort of fun tone to.
- 1:17:04Speaker 8: The whole thing. I remember that movie existed, but is
- 1:17:06Speaker 8: it the one with Cillian Murphy?
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: Cillian Murphy.
- 1:17:10Speaker 8: Is it Cillian or Killian? Killian? Jillian.
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: I'm going to go with Jillian Murphy.
- 1:17:14Speaker 8: Jillian.
- 1:17:16Speaker 7: Chuck.
- 1:17:17Speaker 8: He didn't have any.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: All of that stuff in the last half of his
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: career just gets this weird... comedic tone to it.
- 1:17:26Speaker 8: You didn't really have any feelings on the Scream movies.
- 1:17:28Speaker 8: Did you laugh during the middle of it?
- 1:17:30Speaker 11: Yeah, I didn't care.
- 1:17:32Speaker 8: Not even the first one you didn't like?
- 1:17:34Speaker 11: No, the first one I liked. The second one, eh.
- 1:17:37Speaker 11: I liked the first one. All the other ones, I'm
- 1:17:39Speaker 11: just kind of.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: Like, eh.
- 1:17:44Speaker 11: I got things to make.
- 1:17:46Speaker 8: You had to go to Walmart, and you were like,
- 1:17:48Speaker 8: I'm done. I'm like, when you're going to Walmart instead
- 1:17:50Speaker 8: of watching a movie, then that's rough.
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: Did I go to Walmart?
- 1:17:52Speaker 8: Yeah, you had to buy something.
- 1:17:53Speaker 10: I did? Yeah.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: I wonder what I wanted to buy.
- 1:17:55Speaker 8: I don't remember.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: Was it a contact solution?
- 1:17:59Speaker 11: I don't even remember now.
- 1:18:01Speaker 8: No, you had a thing coming up, and you weren't ready,
- 1:18:03Speaker 8: so you had to go buy some more supplies.
- 1:18:06Speaker 11: Oh, yeah. Okay, yeah, now I remember.
- 1:18:10Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: I like the whole run of them, and it is
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: one of those, it's been a long time, I want
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: to re-watch. I don't know if I've re-watched the fourth
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: one since I saw it the first time.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: I want to go back and re-watch the fourth one
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: more than.
- 1:18:22Speaker 8: Any right now. Aside from the first one.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: I own the rest of them, but I don't think
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: I ever got the fourth one.
- 1:18:27Speaker 8: I hadn't seen any, like two, three, or four since
- 1:18:30Speaker 8: the original time I saw them. So I'm like, I
- 1:18:33Speaker 8: can do this. Like I said, the TV show wasn't bad.
- 1:18:37Speaker 8: I need to go back and give that another shot, but.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18:43Speaker 8: Good times. We watched one other thing. This is the
- 1:18:47Speaker 8: last thing we watched.
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: No, I watched something.
- 1:18:49Speaker 8: Oh, you watched it.
- 1:18:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:18:50Speaker 11: I actually watched something. I usually don't watch a lot
- 1:18:52Speaker 11: of stuff. Um, usually cause I'm working a lot and
- 1:18:56Speaker 11: I got, well, I don't nap as much as I work.
- 1:19:00Speaker 11: So I'm either working or making knives or training guys
- 1:19:03Speaker 11: to fight. Not really fight, but you know what I mean? Um,
- 1:19:08Speaker 11: so I got, uh, I don't even know how I
- 1:19:10Speaker 11: heard of this. It might've been on Facebook. I'm not sure, but, uh,
- 1:19:15Speaker 11: there was a documentary that was put out last year
- 1:19:17Speaker 11: called fight world. And, uh, I'm always been big into
- 1:19:22Speaker 11: martial arts.
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: Um, and to the point of competing for quite a
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: while fighting.
- 1:19:27Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:19:27Speaker 11: I fought Muay Thai for, for quite a while, uh,
- 1:19:30Speaker 11: in the mid nineties, all the way up into the
- 1:19:34Speaker 11: early two thousands. Uh, But I got hooked on this documentary.
- 1:19:43Speaker 11: I guess it's like a documentary, but it's kind of
- 1:19:45Speaker 11: a different documentary because it's not a documentary so much
- 1:19:50Speaker 11: documenting the fighting style. It's a documentary about the people
- 1:19:55Speaker 11: involved in the different arts. So like the first episode,
- 1:20:00Speaker 11: they go to Mexico and the guy who's in it
- 1:20:02Speaker 11: is an actor, Frank Grillo.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I know him.
- 1:20:06Speaker 11: Yeah, I can't remember what he's in, but you know, uh, whatever,
- 1:20:12Speaker 11: you know, he seems like a really nice guy. He
- 1:20:13Speaker 11: seems pretty cool. Um, so, you know, the first episodes,
- 1:20:18Speaker 11: he goes to Mexico city to learn how to box.
- 1:20:20Speaker 11: And so it's basically following, you know, uh, the boxers
- 1:20:24Speaker 11: in Mexico. Um, and it starts out really good. So,
- 1:20:27Speaker 11: I mean, it's excellent. Just all the things that these
- 1:20:30Speaker 11: people go through, um, you know, and the passion for
- 1:20:34Speaker 11: the sport. And then, uh, They do one in Thailand,
- 1:20:39Speaker 11: so I had to definitely watch that. And that one
- 1:20:42Speaker 11: is just, it's really heartbreaking, really. Because a lot of these,
- 1:20:47Speaker 11: a lot of people don't know, but it's pretty common
- 1:20:54Speaker 11: for kids to get sent to the camps as kids
- 1:20:59Speaker 11: when they're like eight. Because Thailand's poor, you know, like
- 1:21:04Speaker 11: a lot of third world countries. But they're not poor
- 1:21:07Speaker 11: in the fact that they don't have food, because when
- 1:21:09Speaker 11: I was over there, if one thing they had, it
- 1:21:11Speaker 11: was food. They had plenty of food, but not a
- 1:21:15Speaker 11: lot of money. And so a lot of times families
- 1:21:19Speaker 11: will send their kids to these camps to become boxers
- 1:21:23Speaker 11: and hopefully become famous and fight and send money back
- 1:21:26Speaker 11: to their family. But one of them follows a boy,
- 1:21:29Speaker 11: and he's kind of an up-and-coming fighter. And just kind
- 1:21:36Speaker 11: of following his career, and spoiler alert, he actually loses
- 1:21:42Speaker 11: the fight. And it's his trainers and everybody just telling
- 1:21:50Speaker 11: him how lazy and useless he is and how much
- 1:21:53Speaker 11: of a failure he was.
- 1:21:54Speaker 8: And how old is he?
- 1:21:55Speaker 11: He's probably 11. Maybe 12. I don't know. He doesn't
- 1:22:00Speaker 11: seem like he's that old.
- 1:22:01Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:22:02Speaker 11: Maybe he's a little bit older than that, but. You know,
- 1:22:06Speaker 11: there's one that they go to Myanmar to learn Lethwei,
- 1:22:10Speaker 11: and they go to Senegal, and they go to Israel.
- 1:22:12Speaker 11: And it's just a really good fighting series that doesn't focus,
- 1:22:16Speaker 11: like I said, doesn't focus so much on the art,
- 1:22:18Speaker 11: but it focuses more on the people.
- 1:22:20Speaker 8: And why they do it.
- 1:22:21Speaker 11: And why they do it.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: And what was the series called?
- 1:22:24Speaker 11: The series is called Fight World.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: Fight World.
- 1:22:26Speaker 11: Yeah, it's on Netflix. It's still on Netflix, so if
- 1:22:30Speaker 11: you want to catch it if you're bored.
- 1:22:31Speaker 10: Cool.
- 1:22:33Speaker 11: Other than that, I usually just sit and watch the
- 1:22:35Speaker 11: surf channel on Pluto, get home from work, hang out
- 1:22:40Speaker 11: with my turtle, and me and my turtle watch surfing.
- 1:22:42Speaker 8: He splooshes about.
- 1:22:43Speaker 11: He surfs. He likes the surfing channel because it kind
- 1:22:47Speaker 11: of calms his nerves. He just kind of chills.
- 1:22:50Speaker 8: All right.
- 1:22:50Speaker 11: And me and him watch surfing.
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: Now I don't feel as weird with me and the
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: dogs watching the Jeffersons every day.
- 1:22:55Speaker 7: No, no, no, no.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: We hang out and do that.
- 1:22:57Speaker 8: When we had the squirrel, we'd sit and watch Bob Ross,
- 1:23:00Speaker 8: and he adored it. He would. He'd look cracky. He'd
- 1:23:02Speaker 8: be running all over the place. I'd turn to Bob Ross,
- 1:23:04Speaker 8: and he's like, whoa, dude.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: Look at them trees.
- 1:23:07Speaker 8: He would just sit there the whole goddamn time.
- 1:23:08Speaker 11: Yeah, he would calm down. It was so weird. I
- 1:23:10Speaker 11: don't know if it was his voice or what, but
- 1:23:12Speaker 11: he would. He would just sit there.
- 1:23:14Speaker 10: Mesmerized. Yeah, if you weren't around that far back, they
- 1:23:19Speaker 10: found a squirrel and it attached itself to Misty more
- 1:23:22Speaker 10: than anyone. It still would bite you, but.
- 1:23:26Speaker 11: It just fucking.
- 1:23:28Speaker 8: Because you were mean to him.
- 1:23:29Speaker 11: I wasn't mean!
- 1:23:31Speaker 8: You were training him for the outside world.
- 1:23:32Speaker 11: I was training him to be a tough little squirrel.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: Well, he was because he bit the shit out of you.
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: He did.
- 1:23:39Speaker 8: And he flung his ass across the room.
- 1:23:41Speaker 11: That was a reaction.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: But for some reason, he adored Misty and they sat
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: together and were buddies.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: Well, no, I mean, he adored me too.
- 1:23:49Speaker 11: I mean, we played a lot of times. He taught
- 1:23:52Speaker 11: him to roughhouse. Yeah, he liked that hoodie that I
- 1:23:55Speaker 11: had because he would hang out with me.
- 1:23:56Speaker 8: But towards the end, he was more my squirrel.
- 1:23:58Speaker 11: He was more your squirrel. But you could definitely tell
- 1:24:00Speaker 11: when he played with me, He bit down on me.
- 1:24:04Speaker 11: A lot of times I would wear gloves because he
- 1:24:06Speaker 11: would bite down. He would be rough. He would play
- 1:24:09Speaker 11: the exact same way with me, with her, but he
- 1:24:12Speaker 11: wouldn't bite her.
- 1:24:13Speaker 8: He would put his teeth on me.
- 1:24:15Speaker 11: Yeah, but he would not bite down.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: Sort of.
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: Weird maternal thing would kick in, maybe? I don't know.
- 1:24:20Speaker 11: I don't know, but he was probably more like, hey,
- 1:24:22Speaker 11: with Dad, I can go 100%.
- 1:24:24Speaker 10: Gloves are off, man. Take your gloves off.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: Let me bite the shit out of you.
- 1:24:28Speaker 11: No, no, no, no.
- 1:24:30Speaker 8: But yeah, he would sit and watch Bob Ross, and
- 1:24:33Speaker 8: that would be the calmest that little fucker would be
- 1:24:35Speaker 8: all goddamn day.
- 1:24:36Speaker 11: Yeah, I do miss having a squirrel, but.
- 1:24:39Speaker 8: The turtle's not as fun.
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: He's not as spastic.
- 1:24:43Speaker 11: No, he's spastic.
- 1:24:45Speaker 8: At least his is contained.
- 1:24:46Speaker 11: He flips out every time I come in the room.
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: He's all excited.
- 1:24:50Speaker 11: Mainly because I feed him.
- 1:24:52Speaker 8: I don't think I've ever fed the little fucker and
- 1:24:54Speaker 8: he gets all spazzy when I go in there.
- 1:24:56Speaker 11: He's like, maybe this time!
- 1:24:58Speaker 8: Maybe this time!
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: Maybe this time!
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: This is a crazy ass turtle.
- 1:25:02Speaker 8: Oscar McTurtle pants.
- 1:25:03Speaker 11: Yeah, I've had him since... Gosh, I forgot how many
- 1:25:07Speaker 11: years now.
- 1:25:07Speaker 8: I've had him. Since we had the house on Silver Street.
- 1:25:12Speaker 11: No, we didn't have him on Silver Street.
- 1:25:14Speaker 8: He moved with us.
- 1:25:16Speaker 10: He didn't.
- 1:25:17Speaker 8: Okay, whatever. Are we talking about 10 years?
- 1:25:19Speaker 11: No. Because Izzy, in her room, she had a newt
- 1:25:26Speaker 11: at first. Fire-bellied newt. And then that crawled out and died.
- 1:25:30Speaker 11: And then we got the turtle. Because Terry, this was I.
- 1:25:35Speaker 8: Don't remember her having a nude at our house that
- 1:25:36Speaker 8: crawled out and died.
- 1:25:37Speaker 11: You don't remember that?
- 1:25:39Speaker 10: No.
- 1:25:39Speaker 11: Yeah, it was in the little triangular aquarium that was
- 1:25:42Speaker 11: in a room in the corner. It died in the bathroom.
- 1:25:45Speaker 8: I don't remember that.
- 1:25:46Speaker 11: It got stuck behind the toilet.
- 1:25:48Speaker 8: Maybe you didn't tell me this. I don't know.
- 1:25:50Speaker 11: But, yeah, we had him. Like, I found him at work.
- 1:25:54Speaker 11: I guess a bird had picked him up as a
- 1:25:56Speaker 11: small turtle. I mean, he was really, he was tiny.
- 1:26:01Speaker 8: I'm not sure we were actually supposed to have him,
- 1:26:03Speaker 8: so maybe we shouldn't tell this story.
- 1:26:05Speaker 11: People have them.
- 1:26:06Speaker 8: You're not supposed to.
- 1:26:07Speaker 10: Really?
- 1:26:08Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: Whatever.
- 1:26:10Speaker 11: You don't know where I live, so fuck you. And
- 1:26:14Speaker 11: even if you did, you can't find me.
- 1:26:16Speaker 10: He's an illegal turtle. He has his papers and everything. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: He's totally legit.
- 1:26:20Speaker 8: He's illegal.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: No borders for turtles.
- 1:26:22Speaker 11: Come on, man. What the hell? Turtles want to be free.
- 1:26:27Speaker 11: They just want a shot. anyways yeah yeah i've had
- 1:26:33Speaker 11: him since a long time long time i think a
- 1:26:36Speaker 11: bird brought him in but yeah he showed up at
- 1:26:38Speaker 11: work so.
- 1:26:39Speaker 8: He was looking for work he was looking for work.
- 1:26:41Speaker 12: I was working anybody look down and uh a little
- 1:26:44Speaker 12: dirt claw yeah terry terry was one of the guys
- 1:26:47Speaker 12: who worked with he goes what the hell is that
- 1:26:48Speaker 12: next to your foot and i was like i don't
- 1:26:50Speaker 12: know i looked down he goes it's a turtle i
- 1:26:53Speaker 12: was like fuck's a turtle doing in here? And we're really,
- 1:26:56Speaker 12: it's a water turtle too. And we were really far from.
- 1:27:00Speaker 11: Any kind of water. So my only idea is that
- 1:27:04Speaker 11: maybe a bird picked it up and dropped it in
- 1:27:06Speaker 11: the parking lot or something.
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: Can't get into this or some sort of shell on him.
- 1:27:10Speaker 11: Yeah, I don't know. But yeah, we've had him for
- 1:27:13Speaker 11: a long time. He likes surfing. Or he likes the
- 1:27:17Speaker 11: surf channel.
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: Get him a little bored. Maybe he'll get into it, man.
- 1:27:22Speaker 11: He's got his little platform he gets up on.
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: Lily pad.
- 1:27:25Speaker 11: Sticks his little feet out and stuff like that.
- 1:27:30Speaker 8: Should we get to the last thing we watched?
- 1:27:32Speaker 12: Yes.
- 1:27:32Speaker 8: The most recent of things that we have watched.
- 1:27:34Speaker 10: Yes.
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: The most recent of things.
- 1:27:38Speaker 8: It's a fairly updated. It's a fairly recent thing, so
- 1:27:41Speaker 8: we're not even too far behind on this one. No.
- 1:27:44Speaker 8: Because this came out, what, maybe a couple months ago?
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 1:27:47Speaker 7: Which one is it?
- 1:27:48Speaker 8: The Umbrella Academy.
- 1:27:49Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: Ah, as I put it on Facebook, the prequel to
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: Resident Evil. Yeah.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: Huh?
- 1:27:58Speaker 8: Umbrella Academy.
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: That's what I said, but that was my misinformed smartass comments. Okay.
- 1:28:04Speaker 10: Because I heard somebody say, I'm watching it.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: It's pretty good.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: And I made that going, A, I don't really know
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: anything about this, but B, I'm going to make a stupid.
- 1:28:11Speaker 10: Umbrella Corporation joke. So that's what I said about it,
- 1:28:15Speaker 10: but I'm an idiot.
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: So what's it actually about?
- 1:28:17Speaker 12: Mm-hmm.
- 1:28:18Speaker 8: Um it's about superheroes all right.
- 1:28:21Speaker 10: See i didn't even know that much um.
- 1:28:23Speaker 8: Apparently it was a comic book series written by the
- 1:28:26Speaker 8: guy from my chemical romance jared.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: Don't what little i've heard of him i've heard interviews
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: with him and his brother and they seem pretty cool i.
- 1:28:34Speaker 8: Don't really care for the band i can tell you
- 1:28:36Speaker 8: one My Chemical Romance song if my life depended on it,
- 1:28:39Speaker 8: so maybe I don't care.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: We can find you some if you want.
- 1:28:43Speaker 8: But yeah, the whole story starts off, was it 1989?
- 1:28:48Speaker 8: Was it 40 some odd women mysteriously give birth out
- 1:28:54Speaker 8: of nowhere?
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:28:56Speaker 8: They weren't pregnant starting the day?
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: Immaculate.
- 1:28:59Speaker 11: Yeah, but all of a sudden their bellies just exploded.
- 1:29:04Speaker 11: They had a baby and then boom, had that baby
- 1:29:06Speaker 11: that day.
- 1:29:07Speaker 8: Like instantly.
- 1:29:08Speaker 11: Instantly, yeah.
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: This doesn't seem comfortable at all.
- 1:29:10Speaker 11: It seems weird. But yeah, they said out of the 40,
- 1:29:13Speaker 11: how many did they find?
- 1:29:14Speaker 8: Well, this one guy, it was one old scientist. Was
- 1:29:19Speaker 8: he a scientist?
- 1:29:20Speaker 11: Yeah, something like that.
- 1:29:22Speaker 8: Whatever, he's an old guy.
- 1:29:24Speaker 11: Smart guy.
- 1:29:25Speaker 8: Decides it's gonna be his goal it's his it's his
- 1:29:28Speaker 8: he's gonna take he's gonna get me he's gonna gather
- 1:29:31Speaker 8: up as many of these kids as he can and
- 1:29:33Speaker 8: train them and you know prepare them for you know
- 1:29:36Speaker 8: the end of the world pretty much so he manages
- 1:29:40Speaker 8: to get seven of them yeah you get.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: What you can come up with all right.
- 1:29:44Speaker 8: You know from buying them from the mothers or whatever
- 1:29:48Speaker 8: methods because i mean a lot of these people probably
- 1:29:51Speaker 8: didn't want to have kids so they were probably you
- 1:29:54Speaker 8: know Okay, here you go.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: Take this kid.
- 1:29:57Speaker 8: You know, so it's him, but it's like, he's not
- 1:30:01Speaker 8: a kind man.
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: He's got a mission.
- 1:30:05Speaker 8: I mean, he sees it as very scientific. You know,
- 1:30:09Speaker 8: I need to train these kids. They need to be
- 1:30:11Speaker 8: ready for what happens. I don't care that they're kids.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: Yeah. That's beside the point.
- 1:30:18Speaker 8: It wasn't a warm, loving environment. It's like, all right,
- 1:30:21Speaker 8: here's your training. This is what we're doing.
- 1:30:22Speaker 11: Yeah, he wasn't Professor X.
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: Not at all.
- 1:30:26Speaker 8: And it's, you know, they each have their, each one
- 1:30:29Speaker 8: has their own ability, you know. At least these seven,
- 1:30:33Speaker 8: you know, six actually.
- 1:30:35Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:30:38Speaker 8: They each have their own ability, so we don't know
- 1:30:40Speaker 8: what happened to the other one. 40 kids they never
- 1:30:44Speaker 8: just it's never discussed in the series no at least
- 1:30:46Speaker 8: not yet at least not yet they've only had the
- 1:30:48Speaker 8: one the one season but uh yeah you have the
- 1:30:52Speaker 8: one who's like super strong well here's.
- 1:30:54Speaker 11: The thing i just thought of uh-oh he's super strong
- 1:30:57Speaker 11: right he didn't really get super strong until they he
- 1:31:02Speaker 11: was still strong but was he still strong okay okay
- 1:31:04Speaker 11: okay well i don't want to spoil it.
- 1:31:05Speaker 8: So because it is still relatively new yeah yeah yeah
- 1:31:08Speaker 8: i mean it's not we're not spoiling by anything by
- 1:31:09Speaker 8: saying he's strong you know.
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: No no no But overall, what's your feeling on it?
- 1:31:15Speaker 8: I loved it.
- 1:31:16Speaker 10: Okay.
- 1:31:16Speaker 11: I actually liked it too. You actually watched it. I
- 1:31:20Speaker 11: actually sat and watched it. Like, okay, let's do it
- 1:31:22Speaker 11: this way. I put my phone down and watched it.
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: What the hell? That's loud.
- 1:31:26Speaker 8: I was like shocked.
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: Who are you? What have you done with Jay?
- 1:31:30Speaker 5: Well, no.
- 1:31:30Speaker 11: No, I mean, I'll put my phone down. It's not
- 1:31:32Speaker 11: like I think I've got my phone attached to my
- 1:31:34Speaker 11: hand all the time.
- 1:31:35Speaker 7: You do.
- 1:31:36Speaker 11: I don't.
- 1:31:37Speaker 5: You know what?
- 1:31:38Speaker 11: I got to work most of the time. So, you know,
- 1:31:45Speaker 11: I kind of went into it with an open mind
- 1:31:46Speaker 11: because at first I was kind of like, what is this?
- 1:31:48Speaker 11: It's going to be like an X-Men ripoff or something
- 1:31:50Speaker 11: like that. Because we don't have enough superheroes as it
- 1:31:52Speaker 11: is now. Everybody wants to be a superhero. So now
- 1:31:54Speaker 11: we got, ooh, Superhero Academy, just like the X-Men.
- 1:31:58Speaker 7: You know, here we go.
- 1:32:00Speaker 11: You know, we got all these kids.
- 1:32:01Speaker 8: And they're all fucked up.
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's.
- 1:32:03Speaker 11: Funny because, yeah, I'm like, well, the X-Men, eh, they
- 1:32:06Speaker 11: got the problems.
- 1:32:07Speaker 8: But at least they had some familiar, like.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: Yeah, they.
- 1:32:10Speaker 11: Had a little bit better family bonding. These guys are
- 1:32:13Speaker 11: just screwed up.
- 1:32:15Speaker 8: I mean, he didn't even name them.
- 1:32:16Speaker 10: No.
- 1:32:17Speaker 8: It was number one, number two, number three, number four,
- 1:32:20Speaker 8: number five.
- 1:32:20Speaker 10: Loving situation.
- 1:32:22Speaker 8: I mean, they had names, but.
- 1:32:24Speaker 11: I think they were names they gave themselves.
- 1:32:26Speaker 8: Their mom did.
- 1:32:26Speaker 11: Their mom gave them names.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: Mom, in quotes.
- 1:32:31Speaker 11: Mom, in quotes. Which, I don't know, it's not really
- 1:32:35Speaker 11: a spoiler, is it? Mom's an android.
- 1:32:39Speaker 8: He made her.
- 1:32:40Speaker 11: He made her, built by the dad.
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:32:42Speaker 11: Which he built her to, well, he kind of had
- 1:32:45Speaker 11: to build her because these kids with their abilities coming up,
- 1:32:48Speaker 11: you know, they pretty much killed all the other nannies.
- 1:32:51Speaker 11: So he needed something that was indestructible.
- 1:32:54Speaker 10: Indestructible nanny.
- 1:32:55Speaker 11: That would love these kids, you know. Unconditionally. Unconditionally. And
- 1:33:00Speaker 11: that's pretty much.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: What she did.
- 1:33:03Speaker 8: But they all come together at the very beginning because
- 1:33:05Speaker 8: he dies. Yes. So that's, you know, they've all, you know,
- 1:33:09Speaker 8: they've erased together, then they've all spread out and they've.
- 1:33:12Speaker 11: All gone their own ways. Some of them got involved
- 1:33:16Speaker 11: in drugs. Some of them just got involved in fame and.
- 1:33:21Speaker 7: Just, you know.
- 1:33:22Speaker 8: One of them lives on the moon. Yeah.
- 1:33:24Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: Like you do.
- 1:33:27Speaker 8: But as soon as it started, I'm like, I don't
- 1:33:30Speaker 8: know anything about this. I don't know anybody who's in it.
- 1:33:31Speaker 8: And I'm like, oh! Robert Sheehan's in it.
- 1:33:35Speaker 10: Now I know how you got suckered in.
- 1:33:39Speaker 8: I didn't know he was in it until I saw him.
- 1:33:41Speaker 8: And that was the thing. He was my least favorite character.
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: Weird.
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: With those dreamy eyes.
- 1:33:49Speaker 8: Misfits? I love misfits. Nathan? It's hard for me to
- 1:33:55Speaker 8: actually say Nathan. I'm like, Nathan.
- 1:33:57Speaker 4: Nathan.
- 1:33:58Speaker 8: Nathan. Nathan.
- 1:34:01Speaker 11: But the problem was you're looking at his character as
- 1:34:04Speaker 11: being Nathan, the Nathan character. And there was some small
- 1:34:10Speaker 11: aspects that were, I don't know if it was his character,
- 1:34:13Speaker 11: if it, or if it was just Robert Sheehan himself,
- 1:34:18Speaker 11: if that's just how he is, the character, I was
- 1:34:22Speaker 11: able to separate the two. So, I mean, uh, I,
- 1:34:25Speaker 11: I liked this character.
- 1:34:27Speaker 8: Um, It was well written, but I hate the character
- 1:34:31Speaker 8: itself because I can't, I don't know. It just, that
- 1:34:35Speaker 8: kind of person that his character is would drive me
- 1:34:38Speaker 8: up the wall.
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:34:39Speaker 11: And the thing is, I work with a lot of
- 1:34:41Speaker 11: those people.
- 1:34:42Speaker 8: He's a drug addict.
- 1:34:43Speaker 11: So I.
- 1:34:43Speaker 8: Severe, severe.
- 1:34:45Speaker 11: He's a severe drug addict. And I understand a lot
- 1:34:48Speaker 11: of the stuff that some of those people go through.
- 1:34:50Speaker 11: So I think his character was well written and I
- 1:34:54Speaker 11: think he played it really well.
- 1:34:56Speaker 8: Hmm.
- 1:34:58Speaker 11: But the biggest thing was you just had to separate
- 1:35:00Speaker 11: him from his Nathan character in Misfits because I'm with Misty.
- 1:35:06Speaker 11: His character in Misfits, that makes Misfits for me.
- 1:35:09Speaker 8: When he left, the show was done.
- 1:35:10Speaker 11: I quit watching it after he left. When Rudy came on,
- 1:35:14Speaker 11: I was like, nah, this ain't Nathan. I'm not watching it.
- 1:35:16Speaker 8: They did like three seasons without him.
- 1:35:19Speaker 11: I think they replaced a lot of the main characters.
- 1:35:21Speaker 11: I just kind of lost interest after that because I
- 1:35:24Speaker 11: think his– he was the one who made the show
- 1:35:27Speaker 11: for me.
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: I thought it was fucking hilarious.
- 1:35:29Speaker 11: But he does good in, uh, in umbrella Academy, all the,
- 1:35:33Speaker 11: I don't think there's really anybody in that, that I
- 1:35:37Speaker 11: did not like.
- 1:35:38Speaker 8: It had Ellen page in it. I do like Ellen page,
- 1:35:41Speaker 8: which I didn't know going into it. I didn't know any,
- 1:35:43Speaker 8: I didn't know anything about this. I just, I had
- 1:35:46Speaker 8: seen like a couple. We didn't know.
- 1:35:47Speaker 11: I didn't know anything about it either. I just, Hey,
- 1:35:49Speaker 11: this looks kind of cool. We may, we'll watch this.
- 1:35:52Speaker 11: And actually one of my other friends, uh, had watched
- 1:35:55Speaker 11: it and said he really liked it. And she had
- 1:36:00Speaker 11: said something about, hey, we're going to watch this. Or
- 1:36:01Speaker 11: maybe we had both discussed watching it. And I said,
- 1:36:03Speaker 11: you know, Rocco really said it was really good.
- 1:36:06Speaker 8: He thought it was really good. So, yeah, we knew nothing.
- 1:36:09Speaker 8: I had never even seen, like, a trailer for it.
- 1:36:11Speaker 8: I had read nothing. I think I had seen, like,
- 1:36:13Speaker 8: a couple of shirts on the Sure Today sites that
- 1:36:16Speaker 8: referenced it. I'm like, I don't even know.
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: What this is.
- 1:36:17Speaker 10: They jump on those things pretty damn quick. So, yeah,
- 1:36:20Speaker 10: I just saw it mentioned a few times on Facebook
- 1:36:22Speaker 10: as– As soon as it dropped, people were already watching
- 1:36:25Speaker 10: it and talking about it.
- 1:36:26Speaker 8: There's a talking monkey? I mean.
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: This all sounds very interesting.
- 1:36:33Speaker 8: Again, there's time travel? Yeah, there's time travel.
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: It all comes back to time travel.
- 1:36:42Speaker 11: I thought it was good.
- 1:36:42Speaker 8: A surprisingly good performance by Mary J.
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: Blige? She's getting a lot more into acting as time's
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: gone on, so.
- 1:36:53Speaker 8: She played the assassin. She was a cha-cha.
- 1:36:56Speaker 11: Yeah, cha-cha. She did a really good job.
- 1:36:58Speaker 8: That was the only part that kind of bothered me
- 1:36:59Speaker 8: because it seemed kind of like a ripoff of Preacher
- 1:37:01Speaker 8: because they had these two assassins that reminded me a
- 1:37:04Speaker 8: lot of the two cowboys from Preacher.
- 1:37:06Speaker 11: Yeah, a little bit.
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: A lot. Well, that sounds actually interesting, so maybe I might.
- 1:37:15Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: I never get around to shows.
- 1:37:17Speaker 8: You're never going to watch it.
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: But other people out there might get around to watching it.
- 1:37:21Speaker 8: Yeah, if you haven't yet, I would highly recommend that
- 1:37:23Speaker 8: you do it. We didn't spoil anything.
- 1:37:25Speaker 10: Yeah, you stuck to the beginning.
- 1:37:28Speaker 8: We might have covered some of the basics on the
- 1:37:30Speaker 8: first episode.
- 1:37:31Speaker 11: But most of that stuff you find out in the
- 1:37:34Speaker 11: first episode.
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: Yeah, so definitely stuff to watch.
- 1:37:37Speaker 7: Yeah, so.
- 1:37:39Speaker 8: And overall, we had a pretty great day, I got
- 1:37:41Speaker 8: to say. I think he's trying to get us to
- 1:37:43Speaker 8: shut up.
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: I'm just rounding things out because we've got to give
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: thanks to what brought us together today to go hang
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: out at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention. Again, they
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: did a great job this year. As we said, they
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: tightened it up even more than last year. It's well
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: put together, and they had some cool people there, and
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: we saw.
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: A lot of cool stuff.
- 1:38:06Speaker 11: Do they listen to this podcast?
- 1:38:08Speaker 8: Of course.
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: Everyone listens to this podcast.
- 1:38:11Speaker 11: I was going to say, what they did in the
- 1:38:13Speaker 11: celebrity area was good.
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:38:17Speaker 10: And there was a lot more stuff, we decided.
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: I was like, I don't remember as much merchandise also
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: fitting in there. So everything they did kind of reconfigured,
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: and they had more merchandise in there and all the celebrities,
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: and it was organized and organized. was crossing over lines
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: and fighting about anything.
- 1:38:33Speaker 11: That was the thing that was my main complaint last
- 1:38:36Speaker 11: year was the way they had the celebrity area set
- 1:38:39Speaker 11: up was good But the problem was a lot of
- 1:38:41Speaker 11: the lines for the celebrity areas were running into the aisles.
- 1:38:45Speaker 10: And that's where any convention will get themselves in trouble.
- 1:38:49Speaker 11: Yeah, because you couldn't get around the area to where
- 1:38:53Speaker 11: the celebrities were. This time they had something completely different.
- 1:38:59Speaker 11: It was like they had the aisles for the celebrities,
- 1:39:03Speaker 11: but the aisles never got long enough passed. the lines
- 1:39:06Speaker 11: never got long enough to spill into the main aisle
- 1:39:08Speaker 11: because they had this kind of.
- 1:39:09Speaker 8: They went the other side.
- 1:39:10Speaker 11: Yeah, they had this kind of weird holding area where
- 1:39:14Speaker 11: people would line up and then as lines would.
- 1:39:18Speaker 8: You would cross over the main aisle.
- 1:39:19Speaker 11: Yeah, they would cycle down. Then they would let people
- 1:39:22Speaker 11: cross over so many at a time. So they weren't
- 1:39:25Speaker 11: blocking the aisles. And I was like, hey, that's great.
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: It's a good setup.
- 1:39:28Speaker 8: Like I said, it's always been a good convention. They've
- 1:39:30Speaker 8: always had great guests.
- 1:39:33Speaker 11: Chuck fucking Norris.
- 1:39:35Speaker 8: That was last year.
- 1:39:36Speaker 10: We're living last year's glory.
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: I told somebody that the other day.
- 1:39:40Speaker 10: I was like, oh yeah, he was talking about Chuck
- 1:39:41Speaker 10: Norris randomly.
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: I was like, oh yeah, I just saw him last year.
- 1:39:44Speaker 6: He was like, wait, you did?
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: He didn't believe me. I was like, yeah, he was
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: in Lexington. He was like, did you go up there
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: just to see him? I was like, well, we were
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: going because he was there.
- 1:39:56Speaker 11: Speaking of Chuck Norris, and this kind of ties in
- 1:40:00Speaker 11: with old action movies, hardly anybody knows this, which blows
- 1:40:05Speaker 11: me away because they haven't advertised it, but Next weekend
- 1:40:13Speaker 11: in Indiana at, I think it's like Full Moon Academy
- 1:40:16Speaker 11: or something like that, they're going to have Cynthia Rothrock
- 1:40:20Speaker 11: and Don the Dragon Wilson.
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: Again, I only know those from cheesy action movies from
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: back in the day.
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: But they were both real fighters. They're going to be there.
- 1:40:29Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:40:30Speaker 11: Because I don't know somebody or one of the guys
- 1:40:33Speaker 11: that I trained C-Lot.
- 1:40:35Speaker 8: With, he knows.
- 1:40:38Speaker 11: He knows one of the guys at Full Moon. I
- 1:40:40Speaker 11: think they do seminars for them, for Kuntao. And so
- 1:40:47Speaker 11: he had posted it on his page, and I kind
- 1:40:49Speaker 11: of took a double take.
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait, Don the Dragon?
- 1:40:52Speaker 11: Holy shit! I mean, I was watching Don the Dragon
- 1:40:56Speaker 11: fights in the 80s.
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: I mean, that's what.
- 1:40:59Speaker 10: Was kind of interesting at that time.
- 1:41:01Speaker 8: I guess.
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: Didn't know where to pull action stars from or ran
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: out of the big names. So they started pulling real fighters.
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: And we're like, hey, you want to be in a movie?
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: And Don's like, okay, sure. I'll do this for money.
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: What the hell?
- 1:41:14Speaker 11: Black Belt Hall of Fame. They're going to be there.
- 1:41:17Speaker 11: And I'm still kind of like, you know, do I go?
- 1:41:21Speaker 11: Because I don't think I've got anything going on that weekend.
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: Hanging out with me. Well, you know what I mean.
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: After that, we're going to go hang out with Don
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: and talk to Cynthia.
- 1:41:29Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:41:30Speaker 11: So, yeah, I think it's like one of those where
- 1:41:32Speaker 11: it's like $ 150 to train with them the weekend. Or
- 1:41:35Speaker 11: you can just go say hi for $ 25 or something
- 1:41:40Speaker 11: like that. $ 50 for an autograph and a picture or something.
- 1:41:43Speaker 11: But it's not a convention. It's just a small.
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: It's just like a training session.
- 1:41:47Speaker 11: Yeah, it's a small training session. So I was sitting
- 1:41:50Speaker 11: there going, I kind of feel like I need to
- 1:41:53Speaker 11: go to it because I did watch a lot of
- 1:41:56Speaker 11: those movies.
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: No matter how cheesy they were.
- 1:42:00Speaker 11: If Dawn the Dragon was in a movie or Cynthia Rothrock,
- 1:42:03Speaker 11: more than likely I rented it.
- 1:42:05Speaker 7: Yeah, definitely.
- 1:42:06Speaker 11: That was around the time when I had a driver's
- 1:42:08Speaker 11: license and I had a job and there was a
- 1:42:10Speaker 11: video store right next to my work. So when I
- 1:42:13Speaker 11: got off work, I would walk over there and rent
- 1:42:16Speaker 11: some videos and drive home and watch movies in the
- 1:42:20Speaker 11: morning before I went to sleep.
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: I was renting most of those same movies.
- 1:42:24Speaker 10: Yeah, so.
- 1:42:26Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:42:27Speaker 10: Well, we'll see if we can line up those two.
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: But if not, you know, regardless, we'll be back.
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: But yeah, thank you to Lexington Comic and Toy Convention.
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: Go see what they've got planned out for next time.
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: They are at lexingtoncomicandtoycon.com. So, big thanks to them.
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: They put together this great day. And we had fun.
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: heading home and we.
- 1:42:51Speaker 10: Got cool stuff went to the bookstore i got all
- 1:42:54Speaker 10: kinds of cool i got some.
- 1:42:55Speaker 8: Cool shit dude it's been a hell of a day
- 1:42:58Speaker 8: so should i say what my cool shit is if
- 1:43:00Speaker 8: you want i got a signed chuck d book for
- 1:43:03Speaker 8: six dollars chuck d i mean girl my name's not
- 1:43:08Speaker 8: amanda my name's not amanda but a signed chuck d
- 1:43:12Speaker 8: book I.
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: Got to sign Lolita screenplay, so what the hell?
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: It's the book-released version of it, but the guy who
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: wrote the screenplay signed it.
- 1:43:21Speaker 11: Every book that you get that's personalized, you just add
- 1:43:25Speaker 11: that name to your.
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: Cynthia and Brian.
- 1:43:31Speaker 11: She's Misty, Cynthia, Charlie, Jonathan, Chuck, Amanda... You.
- 1:43:39Speaker 10: Address this to all my friends and me.
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: Every time she gets a book.
- 1:43:43Speaker 8: It's part of my name.
- 1:43:44Speaker 11: She adds a name to her name and then she's
- 1:43:46Speaker 11: got this driver's license. We can't fit all.
- 1:43:48Speaker 8: These names in here.
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: This is out of control.
- 1:43:51Speaker 8: And I bought a Lauren Bacall signed book for $ 8,
- 1:43:53Speaker 8: which I'm still pretty excited about.
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: We got many signed items today. I ain't getting nothing.
- 1:43:58Speaker 8: You got a pen.
- 1:43:59Speaker 11: I got a pen and some stickers.
- 1:44:00Speaker 8: And a sticker.
- 1:44:01Speaker 7: And a sticker, yeah.
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: But yep, it was an awesome day. So thank you
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: to Lexington Comic and Toy Convention. And hopefully we'll be
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: back next year to have more fun.
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: Hopefully. Otherwise, that about does it.
- 1:44:12Speaker 10: We will return next time. Same geek feed.
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: Thanks for listening.
- 1:44:16Speaker 8: Bye.
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: Bye.
- 1:44:19Speaker 8: Long ago Just like the herbs You died to get
- 1:44:23Speaker 8: in again We are so far from.
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: From every heart you break And like the blade you'll
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: stay Well, I've been holding on tonight What's the worst
- 1:45:05Speaker 3: thing I can say? Since I've been.
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: Ripped on stage so long.
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: Along a good night came a time when every star
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: far brought to its ears again. We are the very
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: heart you sold and was the world. And you're not
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: so Are you with me? Can we stand today? So
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: long and goodnight. What if you carry on this way?
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: Things are better if I stay.
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: So long and goodnight.
- 1:47:30Speaker 10: So long and goodnight.
- 1:47:36Speaker 8: You're going to hand me your garbage?
- 1:47:38Speaker 11: If you're closer to him than me, I'm all the
- 1:47:41Speaker 11: way over here.
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: I can throw it at him. You're right there, so.
- 1:47:44Speaker 11: You can just ask him off. We're going to have.
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: A team here.
- 1:47:48Speaker 8: How's it going to work?
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: Teamwork. Get in on the game.
- 1:47:51Speaker 6: What's going to work?
- 1:47:52Speaker 12: Teamwork.
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: What's going to work?
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: Teamwork.
