  So, let's get into it. First and foremost, let's talk

  about the weather and the weather being a hurricane

  hurricane. Ian is coming into Florida and

  it will bring substantial wind and substantial.

  Rain precipitation inches of precipitation coming in, but

  this talk about this tweet from Brian Shields from a local.

  News agency down in Florida. Ian is now a hurricane hurricane

  and tropical storm conditions are now likely across central
• 0:40
  Florida. Please ramp up the hurricane

  preparations. Today, I'm tracking this now.

  You can see it's drifting in through Havana Georgetown going
• 0:53
  towards Orlando in Orlando, is where NASA is headquartered.

  It's in that same region. Now the eye of this hurricane

  isn't going to be Massa it's going to be off.

  Sort of the West Ishq Coast of Florida near the Gulf of Mexico.

  And NASA is going to be getting some of the effects from this
• 1:15
  hurricane. Now, the rocket we're talking
• 1:17
  about the SLS rocket 322 feet tall.

  It's about the size of the Statue of Liberty and it is not
• 1:25
  built to withstand hurricane type winds or whether now if
• 1:31
  like NASA thought was going to To happen.

  The hurricane was going to kind of Veer into the Gulf of Mexico,

  a little bit more, then everything would have been a
• 1:38
  little bit better, but as of right now, it looks like the
• 1:43
  hurricane is going to be drifting into a little bit north
• 1:46
  of Orlando. So let's take another look at a
• 1:50
  another computer model here. And as you can see off to the
• 1:53
  right side Orlando's going to get hit by some of it and some
• 1:57
  of these paths are going to be heading up towards Jacksonville
• 2:01
  and Panama City Etc. Now, West Palm Beach kinda
• 2:04
  doesn't get anything Fort Myers gets a little bit, but it looks
• 2:08
  like Orlando is going to get some of it.

  So better be safe, right? This is what it looks like.

  We'll look like today at 5:00 in the morning.

  It is going to be heading northward north a little bit
• 2:20
  sort of through here. And towards this area right here
• 2:25
  is going to go right over Havana which is you know please stay
• 2:29
  safe out there, if you're down there, please stay safe.

  Everybody in Florida, please. Please take care of yourselves

  and your loved ones. Now, let's talk about the FAA

  here because they have a tweet to Hurricane.

  Ian could have affect travel in parts of Florida in the
• 2:42
  Southeast this week. Remember to check with your
• 2:44
  airline for flight status, for General airport, delay
• 2:48
  information, and they have a little bit more information from
• 2:50
  the National Hurricane Center here.

  So, let's click through Ian is expected to produce heavy
• 2:54
  rainfall. That's what I was talking about,
• 2:55
  before with the heavy rainfall, with the SLS rocket, especially

  produce heavy rainfall in instances of Flash, Adding and
• 3:03
  possible mudslides in areas of higher terrain.

  So NASA isn't in higher terrain. It's actually pretty low.

  It's pretty much sea level particularly origin.

  Make in Cuba. It's terrible.

  Flooding. Impacts are possible later this
• 3:17
  week and they don't want the SLS rocket to flood either.

  It's pretty high up off the ground, but Storm surges can
• 3:27
  happen. Things can flood.

  Plus these systems aren't built to withstand like I said before.

  Hurricane level winds life, threatening storm surge in

  Hurricane force. Winds are expected in portions
• 3:38
  of Western Cuba beginning later today.

  So let's talk about what NASA is going to be doing to mitigate
• 3:45
  the damage to the SLS rocket, okay?

  So NASA's exploration ground systems posted this earlier on
• 3:53
  Twitter, Artemis. One update.

  NASA will rule the Artemis 1 space launch system rocket and
• 3:57
  Orion spacecraft back to the Vehicle Assembly, Building the
• 4:00
  VAB or vapp. If you will on Monday September.

  Six. That's today, first motion is

  targeted for 11 p.m. eastern time.

  So we're not going to be able to see it because it's going to be
• 4:09
  dark, but the going to start moving this out of the way of
• 4:12
  the storm. And they want to get this out of

  the way before, the storm, actually hits them because if it
• 4:17
  hits them, they have to deal with the rain and they have to
• 4:20
  battle through all the wind and all that stuff, and they just
• 4:22
  don't want to do with it. It doesn't make any sense.

  They thought the hurricane was kind of drift off a little bit

  to the west of Florida. At some point, some of the
• 7:04
  models were pointing towards that.

  But now it looks like it's going to be heading towards kind of
• 7:10
  the Kennedy Space Center area in some respects.

  So they're going to make every possible precaution happen by
• 7:19
  moving the rocket back to the Vehicle Assembly Building.
• 7:22
  This building is built to withstand hurricane level winds.
• 7:27
  Everything inside of it, is there to protect the rocket.
• 7:31
  So this is this The safest and smartest thing NASA could have
• 7:35
  done at this point to protect this billions of dollars like
• 7:40
  billions of dollars of Rocket, every launches worth billions of
• 7:44
  dollars. It's taken years decades to
• 7:46
  build. So there's no reason to keep it
• 7:49
  out during a hurricane and risk. Even one bad thing happening to
• 7:53
  it because then they have to take it back to the Vehicle
• 7:55
  Assembly, Building anyway, and fix it up.

  So taking it back here. Make sense for this hurricane.

  Uh, and here's a little bit more.

  The decision allows time for employees to address the needs
• 8:06
  of their families, and protect the integrated rocket and
• 8:08
  spacecraft system. The time of first motion also is

  based on the best predicted conditions, for robeck to meet

  weather criteria for the move. So, basically, they need to have
• 8:18
  low winds and they have to have no precipitation or low
• 8:22
  precipitation to move this thing.

  Back to the Vehicle Assembly Building, and that's why they
• 8:28
  chose 11:00 at night to do this. So the weather Ins and NASA have
• 8:35
  kind of collided here and they said, hey we're going to do this
• 8:38
  late at night. They have all the floodlights,
• 8:40
  you know, they have all the lights they need for this thing
• 8:43
  to move it back to the Vehicle Assembly Building and it will
• 8:46
  take pretty much all night to move it back.
• 8:49
  This thing moves it about 124 miles an hour for is, I think
• 8:54
  the peak of this thing, so it's 114 miles an hour somewhere in
• 8:58
  that range and they have to go good ways.

  So It's going to take them all night to get back there and to
• 9:06
  get it safe to get back into the Vehicle Assembly Building and
• 9:09
  have people, you know, people that they have to have people
• 9:13
  there. This is an automated.
• 9:14
  It's gonna be hundreds of people there working on this and also
• 9:18
  saving the rocket. And then everybody disperses
• 9:22
  once the rocket is saved, and they go safe their families,
• 9:26
  they go help their families out and get everybody to shelter or
• 9:31
  evacuate, whatever, they're going to do with.
• 9:32
  Their families. Get out of there before her
• 9:35
  keaney and hits. And then, once this all blows
• 9:37
  over once the hurricane, all blows over, and hopefully, there
• 9:41
  is not much damage to Kennedy Space Center and to the launch
• 9:46
  system area. They'll go through that again.
• 9:50
  They'll work through that, they'll make sure that
• 9:51
  everything is safe and ready for the vehicle to move out again.
• 9:55
  And then by that time, the SLS rocket Head weather, the storm
• 10:00
  everything will be cleaned up. NASA will move the rocket back
• 10:04
  out to the launch pad and set up for another launch State.
• 10:08
  And I want to show you the dates of those possible launches, here
• 10:11
  we go, the Artemis, 1 launch schedule, September 19th,
• 10:15
  through October, 4th, 14 opportunities, so it's possible
• 10:18
  that after this storm goes over October 4th, somewhere in that
• 10:23
  region the earlier the better October 17th through the 31st,
• 10:26
  there's 11 launch opportunities happening.
• 10:30
  So anywhere around between the 4th and The 17th there's no
• 10:34
  opportunity and then they may skip to October 17th.
