You already know numbers 1 to 40 from earlier episodes, right? Luna: Yeah, I remember 1 to 5, 6 to 10, up to 40. So 41 is just 'forty-one' in Amharic? Lucas: Exactly. Lucas: Alright. 41 is 'አርባ አንድ' — that's 'arba and'. Luna: አርባ አንድ. Arba and. Got it. Lucas: Now 42 — አርባ ሁለት — 'arba hulet'. Luna: አርባ ሁለት. Arba hulet. Lucas: 43 is አርባ ሦስት — 'arba sost'. Luna: አርባ ሦስት. That sounds like 'arba sost'. Lucas: Perfect. 44 — አርባ አራት — 'arba arat'. Luna: አርባ አራት. Arba arat. And 45 is አርባ አምስት — 'arba amist'? Lucas: Exactly! You're catching on. አርባ አምስት. Luna: Okay, let me try them all in a row: አርባ አንድ, አርባ ሁለት, አርባ ሦስት, አርባ አራት, አርባ አምስት. Lucas: That was really good, Luna! Let's do it together slowly. Listeners, repeat after me: አርባ አንድ. Luna: Okay, so I'd say 'አርባ አምስት ብር ነው?' — is it 45 birr? Lucas: Exactly! አርባ አምስት ብር ነው. And what if you want to say 'I am 41 years old'? Luna: Umm, 'እኔ አርባ አንድ ዓመቴ ነው'? Lucas: Almost. It's 'እኔ አርባ አንድ ዓመቴ ነው' — but great try. So 'አርባ አንድ ዓመቴ ነው' means 'I am 41 years old'. Luna: አርባ አንድ ዓመቴ ነው. Got it. Lucas: And if you have 42 books, you could say 'አርባ ሁለት መጻሕፍት አሉኝ'. Luna: አርባ ሁለት መጻሕፍት አሉኝ. I have 42 books. Lucas: Right. So let's do a quick review. I'll say a number in English, you say it in Amharic. 41. Luna: አርባ አንድ. Lucas: 43. Luna: አርባ ሦስት. Lucas: 45. Luna: አርባ አምስት. Lucas: Excellent. Now I'll say them in Amharic, you repeat: አርባ አንድ. Luna: አርባ አንድ. Lucas: አርባ ሁለት. Luna: አርባ ሁለት. Lucas: አርባ ሦስት. Luna: አርባ ሦስት. Lucas: አርባ አራት. Luna: አርባ አራት.
