- 2:04Speaker 1: we got a special guest in here. Bulet keV Show,
- 2:06Speaker 1: Murder Beats. Welcome man, legendary producer. You know, I would
- 2:11Speaker 1: say most producers have like eras, right, Like growing up
- 2:15Speaker 1: we had like you know, there was like the Heat
- 2:18Speaker 1: Makers and the Dipset Shit or Timberland. And you've had
- 2:21Speaker 1: like a nice eight nine year run now. Uh, I'll
- 2:25Speaker 1: say about like five six years. Like I've been making
- 2:28Speaker 1: beats for ten years so well, because like what the
- 2:30Speaker 1: first Migo shit that you were a part of it
- 2:32Speaker 1: was twenty four. I mean that was like eight years ago. Goddamn. Yeah,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I mean we're kind of in the Murder Beats decade
- 2:38Speaker 1: here kind of. Yeah, man, it's kind of crazy. Well,
- 2:41Speaker 1: welcome man. Yeah, I feel like it's long overdue. Shout
- 2:46Speaker 1: out to the new record with Wale and Blast. Kind
- 2:52Speaker 1: of like a different type of vibe for you as
- 2:54Speaker 1: far as like just what we're used to hearing, like
- 2:56Speaker 1: a Murder Beats tag on what was your inspiration? Obously
- 3:00Speaker 1: you're out here in La so I'm sure I mean
- 3:01Speaker 1: you hear Blast every Yeah I do. I'm a fan
- 3:03Speaker 1: of Blast, you know what I'm saying. So I was
- 3:06Speaker 1: actually six months ago, I was in Miami working with
- 3:08Speaker 1: Rick Ross. We were at Circle House. You know what
- 3:10Speaker 1: I'm saying. I love Circle House. Yeah. So I was
- 3:12Speaker 1: cooking up some shit kind of the beat. The record
- 3:15Speaker 1: kind of sounds like a Miami tropic hood does kind
- 3:17Speaker 1: of sound like a feel good record. So someone was like, Yo,
- 3:20Speaker 1: you want to meet Blast. I was like, yeah, bring
- 3:21Speaker 1: him in the studio. He came in the studio and
- 3:24Speaker 1: I met him. I like pulled up that beat. He
- 3:26Speaker 1: banged it out quick. I was like, this shit fire
- 3:28Speaker 1: and then Walle was in the other room. I went
- 3:30Speaker 1: and grab all A. He wrote his verse, did it quick.
- 3:32Speaker 1: And then I was like, man, I'm taking this one. Wow.
- 3:34Speaker 1: All in Miami, Yeah, wow, crazy, Like one day shout
- 3:37Speaker 1: out to Circle House for people who don't know, it's
- 3:39Speaker 1: like a house in a neighborhood in Miami. Circle House
- 3:42Speaker 1: that's like a renowned studio that you would never even
- 3:45Speaker 1: know was there if you never know normal ass Like
- 3:49Speaker 1: it's just a it's like a really nice house with
- 3:51Speaker 1: studios in it. Yeah, it's literally just like a normal
- 3:53Speaker 1: crib and like a normal neighborhood. And you know, how
- 3:56Speaker 1: did you Okay? So like you kind of obviously got
- 3:59Speaker 1: introduced in the game, at least from my understanding. When
- 4:02Speaker 1: I first started hearing you was through the Migos. What
- 4:05Speaker 1: was your initial introduction with them? Being a kid from
- 4:08Speaker 1: Canada being it at that time the Migos were active
- 4:12Speaker 1: out here because I lived in Tampa when the Migos
- 4:15Speaker 1: started to pop and them, dudes, was they was really
- 4:18Speaker 1: out here. They were really out here, do mad shows,
- 4:20Speaker 1: had their mcm bags on, fucking shootouts and ship all
- 4:23Speaker 1: kinds of crazy shit was popping off. But how did this?
- 4:26Speaker 1: How did those two worlds connect? So I just connected
- 4:29Speaker 1: with them on Twitter like that. I was hitting up
- 4:30Speaker 1: everyone on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, I was just hitting people up.
- 4:34Speaker 1: So I just like hit up one of their boys.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I was like, yo, play play some of the play
- 4:38Speaker 1: some of my beats for them, and I'm going to
- 4:40Speaker 1: give you some beats to rap on. At the time,
- 4:41Speaker 1: this guy wasn't even rapping. He was like, I'm actually
- 4:43Speaker 1: engineering them, So send the pack. I sent the pack
- 4:46Speaker 1: and then from there, you know what I'm saying, that easy. Yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 1: it's crazy because nowadays way harder to do that. Think
- 4:52Speaker 1: about like dming someone like, no one's gonna check your DM.
- 4:55Speaker 1: It's crazy. That's where like people always ask me for
- 4:58Speaker 1: advice and stuff. I'm like, I don't even know what
- 4:59Speaker 1: kind of advice give somebody, because what worked for me,
- 5:01Speaker 1: it's going to be hard to work for someone else.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Back in the day, like there wasn't a lot of
- 5:05Speaker 1: people trying to be a producer. It wasn't cool to
- 5:07Speaker 1: be in music. It was very like unrealistic, so everyone
- 5:10Speaker 1: kind of like stayed away from it. So like, but
- 5:13Speaker 1: like with the Internet and how the Internet was working
- 5:14Speaker 1: and stuff, I used that to my advantage because like
- 5:17Speaker 1: I was just a kid from Canada. I'm from a
- 5:18Speaker 1: town of thirty thousand people, like what part of Canada, Like,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I'm from like Niagara region, So it's like, yeah, just
- 5:23Speaker 1: outside of Niagara Fall. While you're a Buffalo fan, you
- 5:26Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. There we go. So like I
- 5:28Speaker 1: was like, I grew up on the border of Buffalo
- 5:30Speaker 1: and a small town thirty thousand people. So I've been
- 5:33Speaker 1: to Buffalo. It's a pretty fucking wild place. It is
- 5:36Speaker 1: pretty wild. I'm not gonna lie. It's very like when
- 5:38Speaker 1: I went there and like hung out with Conway and
- 5:40Speaker 1: uh and Westside Gun and I was like I get
- 5:42Speaker 1: it now, I get why you guys are real shit
- 5:44Speaker 1: rap about the shit you wrap about, because that shit
- 5:46Speaker 1: looked like it's like the it's the poorest part of America.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I was gonna say, when I think of Cleveland in
- 5:51Speaker 1: my head, and then I went to Buffalo. I've never
- 5:54Speaker 1: been to Cleveland, but I was like, this is what
- 5:55Speaker 1: I'm when I think of Cleveland, I think of this,
- 5:57Speaker 1: but it's Buffalo. So when I first started going to Chicago,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I was like, and we were in the wild one hundreds,
- 6:03Speaker 1: the South sidn all like these crazy plays you be
- 6:05Speaker 1: hearing about. I'm like, this shit looks just like Buffalo. Yeah,
- 6:07Speaker 1: Buffalo's crazy. So I went back to Buffalo like damn,
- 6:09Speaker 1: like you know, but funny story about Conway and them,
- 6:12Speaker 1: I was like, I used to go to Buffalo first,
- 6:13Speaker 1: trying to like go to America, get my get my producer,
- 6:16Speaker 1: sit up, you know what I'm saying. I used to
- 6:18Speaker 1: go pull up on them, and I pulled up on
- 6:20Speaker 1: Conway in the studio one day and his boy tried
- 6:21Speaker 1: to buy my drums on me for like fifty bucks.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I remember, just just like like your file of drum
- 6:27Speaker 1: like I was just playing. Be's like your drums are hard, man, Yeah,
- 6:30Speaker 1: It's like, can I buy him like, I'm like, shit,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I'm watching like fifty bucks. I'm like no, not even
- 6:34Speaker 1: like two fifties, like one's seventy five or some shot
- 6:37Speaker 1: like was it Darrenger? Nah? I think it was DJ
- 6:41Speaker 1: sha rip Oh shout out to DJ Shay rest in peace. Man,
- 6:43Speaker 1: Shae's a legend for sure. It's crazy, Yo, that's wild.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Did you ever end up having any records with Conway
- 6:50Speaker 1: or Ben or any of those guys? Yeah? I did.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I did a record on Kanye on Conway's last album,
- 6:55Speaker 1: Oh you did, that's right, called Anzia Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 6:58Speaker 1: So and that was just because like I'm like, man,
- 7:00Speaker 1: we gotta do some shit. We still got to do
- 7:01Speaker 1: more shit, like just Finny all these guys just for
- 7:03Speaker 1: the region God to do some shit. It's so crazy too,
- 7:06Speaker 1: because being on the Canada side of that border, it's
- 7:11Speaker 1: a lot easier for you to go back and forth.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I got people who are like, you know, some of
- 7:15Speaker 1: some of the homies who are part of BSF for
- 7:17Speaker 1: or Garzlle, They're like, man, we've lived in Buffalo our
- 7:19Speaker 1: whole lives, and we can't even go to fucking Canada.
- 7:20Speaker 1: We've never even been into Canada. Yeah, that's probably because
- 7:23Speaker 1: they you know, they got felon the same thing with
- 7:25Speaker 1: me though. It's like if I got a duy, I
- 7:27Speaker 1: wouldn't be able to come to America. Really, if I
- 7:29Speaker 1: had a misdemeanor, I wouldn't be able to come to America.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Like did you go to like did you grow up
- 7:34Speaker 1: going to Buffalo a lot to go to games Man?
- 7:36Speaker 1: People people people from Canada go to Buffalo to get
- 7:39Speaker 1: fill up their tank of gas because gas is cheaper,
- 7:41Speaker 1: go to the store to get groceries because y'all got
- 7:44Speaker 1: way more fucking brands and everything. Like so like it's
- 7:47Speaker 1: like when you're living on a border town, people go
- 7:49Speaker 1: to Buffalo or America all the time. That's like here
- 7:51Speaker 1: like border towns, Like people will go to Mexico to
- 7:54Speaker 1: get medicine. Do you want or some shit, Because medicine
- 7:57Speaker 1: you don't need a prescription to get like a z
- 7:59Speaker 1: pac out here, you need a Christians You just go
- 8:00Speaker 1: over to Mexico and just get viagra for like twenty dollars.
- 8:04Speaker 1: You know. Yeah, there's people where everyone's fucking teeth. All
- 8:08Speaker 1: these rappers with their teeth, they're usually going to Mexico
- 8:10Speaker 1: to get them things. Done. Yeah, I've been. I've only
- 8:12Speaker 1: been to Mexico one time. I went. Uh. I DJed
- 8:15Speaker 1: a New Year's party in Cancun like last year during COVID.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Did you enjoy it? It was? It was pretty lit,
- 8:21Speaker 1: but it was like during like the crazy peak of COVID,
- 8:24Speaker 1: it was like, I don't know if we should go.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I don't know what we should be doing this. It
- 8:26Speaker 1: might be a bad look, you might get shamed. Yeah,
- 8:28Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But it was fun. Are
- 8:30Speaker 1: you you go back home a lot a little bit.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I haven't been in like two years since COVID. Rap
- 8:35Speaker 1: about to say it's probably a I mean because they
- 8:37Speaker 1: pretty much shut the ship down. It Yeah, it was
- 8:39Speaker 1: shutting down, opening up, shutting down. Raptors had to play
- 8:42Speaker 1: in Tampa last year. That was crazy, Like what the
- 8:44Speaker 1: fuck is going on? I wanted to go to some
- 8:46Speaker 1: games I never did. That's what I wish they would
- 8:48Speaker 1: have did limited edition like Tampa Bay Raptor jerseys. That'd
- 8:52Speaker 1: be hard. That would have been hard drop as an
- 8:53Speaker 1: NFT you know, yeah, that would have been crazy to
- 8:56Speaker 1: the Raptors. So let's talk about your tag, cause you
- 9:00Speaker 1: have one of the more iconic tags in hip hop.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Uh and I always say, you know, I had a
- 9:04Speaker 1: conversation with hit Boy and Hippoy was saying for the
- 9:06Speaker 1: longest time he didn't have a tag, and I kind
- 9:08Speaker 1: of heard him because you know, we think of like
- 9:09Speaker 1: hit Boy as like one of the more legendary producers
- 9:11Speaker 1: of all time, but some of his biggest hit boys
- 9:14Speaker 1: don't have his name on him as you know, So
- 9:16Speaker 1: he started using a tag. Your tag is very iconic
- 9:19Speaker 1: at this point, how did you find your tag? Like
- 9:22Speaker 1: like kind of break down the story of how you
- 9:24Speaker 1: got your tag. So the the murder on the Beato
- 9:26Speaker 1: is not nice tag? Me and Boka shout out Tobacca,
- 9:30Speaker 1: shout out to Bacca. We were we were like recording
- 9:32Speaker 1: in Toronto and then like he just said that on
- 9:34Speaker 1: the track and I was like, I should kind of
- 9:35Speaker 1: use that. Then one day Sunny Digital was in Toronto
- 9:38Speaker 1: and I was like, yo, like should I use this
- 9:40Speaker 1: to the tag? And I played the song He's like
- 9:41Speaker 1: you should, you should try it out, and then started
- 9:44Speaker 1: using it and then Drake told me to put it
- 9:45Speaker 1: on everything from there on them That's all it came about.
- 9:48Speaker 1: And now it but like my old mamma murder tag.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I got that ship, like I like bought it off
- 9:54Speaker 1: some guy on the internet for like twenty bucks. He
- 9:56Speaker 1: like made it for me, and I wanted that because
- 9:58Speaker 1: I was on mixtapes and shiit what I'm saying. So
- 10:01Speaker 1: when you're listening to a mixtape, no label, to some
- 10:04Speaker 1: old kind of mixtape, you listen, you hear my tag,
- 10:06Speaker 1: you'd see produced by Murder. That's what was driving like
- 10:09Speaker 1: beat sales. People will hit me up on Twitter whatever,
- 10:12Speaker 1: like yo' second advertising. You know what I'm saying. That
- 10:14Speaker 1: was how I was getting money. So I was trying
- 10:15Speaker 1: to like promote myself and build my brand. You know, No,
- 10:18Speaker 1: you've done a good job at that when you first
- 10:21Speaker 1: started to kind of like I always feel like with
- 10:23Speaker 1: producers now, there's so many different avenues for you to
- 10:26Speaker 1: be like support yourself as a producer because we always
- 10:30Speaker 1: think like the placement game is like such a tough
- 10:34Speaker 1: game if you're an up and coming producer, like chasing placements,
- 10:37Speaker 1: going to the studio, trying to get your beats in
- 10:39Speaker 1: the right people, especially now too mecaus. Now, it's like
- 10:42Speaker 1: when I was coming up, there was probably like five
- 10:45Speaker 1: hundred producers, thousand producers trying to do it on the internet.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Now there's like ten million, it's wild, fifty million literally,
- 10:51Speaker 1: like fifty million kids to do it. So it's like
- 10:54Speaker 1: if you're trying to chase a placement on an album
- 10:56Speaker 1: and you get that album cut on a big artist,
- 10:58Speaker 1: like how are you supposed to even be the brand
- 11:00Speaker 1: off that? Right? You know? Like I feel like the
- 11:02Speaker 1: biggest way for a producer to build nowadays is to
- 11:07Speaker 1: build come up with an artist and build a sound,
- 11:10Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Yeah, Like find an artist
- 11:12Speaker 1: that you fuck with, do the whole album. Then they
- 11:16Speaker 1: blow up and then you know what I'm saying that,
- 11:17Speaker 1: I feel like that's like the best way to build
- 11:19Speaker 1: a brand, yeah, because you build a sound, you know
- 11:21Speaker 1: what I mean. I think the uh, what's the one
- 11:23Speaker 1: kid's name, Uh, Logic's producer him, Like Logics producer did
- 11:27Speaker 1: like all of his shit, and like obviously that dude's
- 11:29Speaker 1: got Grammy and all that shit. But yeah, and then
- 11:31Speaker 1: and then you're like associated with an act and like
- 11:33Speaker 1: that shit goes a long way, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 11:36Speaker 1: I mean you kind of like in a way kind
- 11:37Speaker 1: of did that with the Begos early on you know,
- 11:39Speaker 1: you were kind of synonymous with like what they were doing.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Because the thing is with them is like back then,
- 11:43Speaker 1: like they were only fucking with like three four producers
- 11:46Speaker 1: and I was one of them, or like three to five.
- 11:48Speaker 1: They had like a few, you know what I mean,
- 11:49Speaker 1: But like they were not fucking with anyone else's beats,
- 11:51Speaker 1: and like no one could get ahold of them, so
- 11:53Speaker 1: like you know what I mean, just being a part
- 11:55Speaker 1: of that was like very exclusive and like everybody wanted
- 11:58Speaker 1: my beats. What was it like being like a round
- 12:00Speaker 1: them in Atlanta in like the early years because it
- 12:03Speaker 1: was fun. It had to be crazy, right, Yeah. It
- 12:05Speaker 1: was fun though because they're running atl at the time,
- 12:08Speaker 1: They're running the streets. Yeah, they were doing shows, shutting
- 12:11Speaker 1: clubs down, going crazy. We used to have fun at
- 12:13Speaker 1: the crib. She was fun. What was the first kind
- 12:17Speaker 1: of hit that really popped in the club for you
- 12:19Speaker 1: that you did for them? Was it Pipe It Up?
- 12:20Speaker 1: Emms Smith? Emmitt Smith? That ship was crazy. I remember
- 12:24Speaker 1: going on the road with them and like seeing it
- 12:25Speaker 1: on like BT, like on the TV. It was about
- 12:28Speaker 1: the first time I ever heard my tag on the TV.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I was like, Damn, it's crazy. I had like no money.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Everyone back home thought I was like rich like everyonellions.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Of course. It was like this ship was crazy man,
- 12:38Speaker 1: But Emms Smith, you know what I'm saying. That was
- 12:39Speaker 1: like the first time I even seen people dabbing a
- 12:41Speaker 1: music video. That was like when the dab that, they
- 12:44Speaker 1: were like, oh that was yeah. And then Pipe it
- 12:48Speaker 1: Up really blew up. The day was crazy, crazy a moment.
- 12:52Speaker 1: That was my first hit though. Pipe It Up was
- 12:54Speaker 1: like a hit. I remember like playing that ship in
- 12:56Speaker 1: Florida and radio going crazy, Oh my god, pipe it
- 12:59Speaker 1: Up was one of them. One I got my first
- 13:00Speaker 1: like twenty thousand dollars check off that song. Wow, And
- 13:04Speaker 1: I was like we were like, we made it. That's
- 13:05Speaker 1: a nice chunk of change. Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 13:09Speaker 1: But we're talking about producers like kind of monetizing their shit. Now.
- 13:12Speaker 1: You know, there's people would still do beat leases, and
- 13:15Speaker 1: then there's like obviously like I feel like one of
- 13:18Speaker 1: the more like slept on ways that people find beats.
- 13:20Speaker 1: And I know this because we'll have artists come in
- 13:23Speaker 1: and they'll be like, yo, yo, here's the YouTube link.
- 13:25Speaker 1: It's like these type beats on YouTube. Hell yeah, A
- 13:28Speaker 1: lot of upcoming artists and a lot of like made
- 13:31Speaker 1: artists still be doing that going. They'll type in their
- 13:34Speaker 1: own name, type beat, make a bunch of songs. You know.
- 13:36Speaker 1: That shit happens a lot. We've had so many artists
- 13:39Speaker 1: come in be like, y'all want to do a freestyle
- 13:41Speaker 1: over this, but it's there's some beat on YouTube, and
- 13:43Speaker 1: then it'll be like their own name type beat, and
- 13:45Speaker 1: they'll be like, what the fuck do you even know
- 13:46Speaker 1: this guy? Like na na just fuck with the beat
- 13:48Speaker 1: on YouTube. I'm like, yeah, that's how I started. I
- 13:50Speaker 1: used to do type beats. Every producer's type beat on YouTube,
- 13:53Speaker 1: walk a flock of type beats, some dunkin type beats,
- 13:56Speaker 1: all these type beats, and I used to like drive traction,
- 13:58Speaker 1: like when Cheeky was hot, I do you keep type beat?
- 14:01Speaker 1: I had to beat. I remember I had to beat.
- 14:02Speaker 1: It was like two hundred and fifty thousand views and
- 14:04Speaker 1: shit like that's a lot on a vado. Oh yeah,
- 14:06Speaker 1: So you were kind of like already kind of doing
- 14:08Speaker 1: your thing a little bit in the producer space. Yeah,
- 14:10Speaker 1: Like I remember like there was like the Internet producers
- 14:12Speaker 1: and shit. Yeah, like we were doing our thing and
- 14:14Speaker 1: then I started like showing like what I looked like
- 14:17Speaker 1: and shit, and I was like, oh shit, like who's this?
- 14:19Speaker 1: Nobody ever would have thought you looked this way? Yeah,
- 14:21Speaker 1: And then like I feel like that was more like
- 14:22Speaker 1: a wow, like damn, what the fuck he's from Canada,
- 14:25Speaker 1: Like everyone else kind of just had like their graphic
- 14:27Speaker 1: up on their on their Twitter and shit. I was like, man,
- 14:30Speaker 1: I want to build my face, caud. I don't want
- 14:31Speaker 1: people to know what I look like. You know, who
- 14:33Speaker 1: was with all the people you've worked with, You've worked
- 14:36Speaker 1: with everyone, Drake, Travis, we can go on, Nikki, et cetera.
- 14:40Speaker 1: As far as like in studio experience whose creative process
- 14:44Speaker 1: is like the most meticulous where you're just like, yo,
- 14:47Speaker 1: this this is like different because I always hear like
- 14:49Speaker 1: guys like doctor Dre's creative process is insane, Like he's
- 14:52Speaker 1: so particular about like the smallest ship. And I've been
- 14:55Speaker 1: in sessions with artists that like care about ship that
- 14:58Speaker 1: you wouldn't even like think of, who's that artist that
- 15:00Speaker 1: you've been in with that's just very over the top
- 15:03Speaker 1: with just caring about the small details them. Hmmm. Probably
- 15:09Speaker 1: just like I don't know, I feel like a lot
- 15:11Speaker 1: of artists do, but definitely like the Atlanta artists like Quevo,
- 15:15Speaker 1: the Migos, the Future, I feel like guys that just
- 15:19Speaker 1: freestyle everything they do. But then like they're also like
- 15:21Speaker 1: so like aware of like how they're saying it, like
- 15:24Speaker 1: their tone and like their vocals and shit, Like that's
- 15:26Speaker 1: pretty crazy, you know what I'm saying. I have this
- 15:28Speaker 1: thing that I always say about producers, like I mean
- 15:31Speaker 1: artists and shit, like it's like if they get it
- 15:33Speaker 1: or they don't get it, and like it's like I
- 15:36Speaker 1: feel like how like Party could like go in this
- 15:39Speaker 1: freestyle whole song and it's like incredible, or like Juice
- 15:41Speaker 1: World could like freestyle whole beat and it would be
- 15:43Speaker 1: like an incredible song. Win W Melly the same. It's
- 15:46Speaker 1: like certain artists just got it, Like you know what
- 15:48Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like like you can just pull up a
- 15:50Speaker 1: beat for Juice RP or like Melly Party they were
- 15:53Speaker 1: just going just nigul liarly freestyle the whole beat and
- 15:55Speaker 1: it's like a finished song. That's crazy. That's incredible. Is
- 15:58Speaker 1: it a different like when you you're in with a
- 16:00Speaker 1: producer that does that, that does the punch in thing
- 16:02Speaker 1: or does the the off the top thing as opposed
- 16:05Speaker 1: to somebody who writes shit down. I don't even know
- 16:07Speaker 1: who writes shit down anymore because it feels like most
- 16:09Speaker 1: people just go in and they do they do the
- 16:12Speaker 1: melody or do they do the punching thing where they
- 16:14Speaker 1: punching line by line? Like is there like a big
- 16:17Speaker 1: difference for you, Like being in the studio actually writes
- 16:19Speaker 1: one hundred percent. So like it was like a gift
- 16:21Speaker 1: that occurs with amgos because I was like so young,
- 16:24Speaker 1: I was like nineteen twenty years old working with these
- 16:25Speaker 1: guys their freestyle and everything, punching in and stuff. And
- 16:28Speaker 1: then when I started working with other people and people
- 16:31Speaker 1: were writing, I like didn't have patients in the studio
- 16:33Speaker 1: for it because it's like it's a much more patience
- 16:36Speaker 1: like driven process. Yeah, like I could go I could
- 16:38Speaker 1: go in with Amigos. They could pull a beat half
- 16:40Speaker 1: of the song done in twenty minutes. I was cooking
- 16:42Speaker 1: up beats in like thirty minutes twenty minutes, so it
- 16:44Speaker 1: was like our workflow is so quick, but our chemistry
- 16:47Speaker 1: was crazy, you know what I'm saying. So it's like
- 16:49Speaker 1: then going in with someone who has to sit there
- 16:50Speaker 1: and write. Some people write for an hour. Some people
- 16:53Speaker 1: aren't as quick with it. You know what I'm saying.
- 16:54Speaker 1: It's not a bad thing. Everyone's creating. It's just a
- 16:57Speaker 1: different process. I'd just be like, man, what the fuck
- 16:59Speaker 1: are we doing? Move on to the next record, Like
- 17:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna go to Dave's Hot Chicken and come back.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Let me know when you're ready. Hey, we know, we
- 17:06Speaker 1: gotta stop the podcast real quick. Shout out to my bookie. Man, listen,

- 17:37Speaker 1: win the MVP? I don't know. Is it gonna be honest?
- 17:39Speaker 1: Is it gonna be Devin Booker? Is it gonna be
- 17:41Speaker 1: Yokic certainly ain't gonna be motherfucker Russell Westbrook crazy odds
- 17:46Speaker 1: that ain't gonna happen. That's just burning money. With that
- 17:49Speaker 1: being said, there's so many different ways you can bet.
- 17:51Speaker 1: You could bet on your daily games. You could do
- 17:53Speaker 1: the parlay. I like doing moneyline parlays. I like to
- 17:55Speaker 1: just do three or four heavy favorites on that NBA schedule,
- 17:58Speaker 1: throw them all on one ticket and and just try
- 18:00Speaker 1: to hit. You know what I'm saying. Whatever you're into

- 18:29Speaker 1: you could bet on the three point contest, the motherfucking
- 18:31Speaker 1: dunk contest, whatever the fuck is going on. Who's gonna
- 18:35Speaker 1: be the MVP of the All Star Game? I don't know,
- 18:37Speaker 1: but you could bet on it. You could bet on anything.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So make sure one more time that's my bookie. Double

- 18:48Speaker 1: on anything anytime anywhere with my bookie. Motherfucker, let's go.
- 18:53Speaker 1: A lot of people get to your position, right Like
- 18:56Speaker 1: obviously you came up making beats. Then there's I know,
- 18:59Speaker 1: a lot of who end up getting to a certain
- 19:02Speaker 1: point where they start kind of surrounding themselves with other
- 19:06Speaker 1: producers to kind of just help with the creative process,
- 19:08Speaker 1: whether it's loops, whether it's you know, whatever, it is,
- 19:11Speaker 1: a lot more co production starts to happen. Is that
- 19:13Speaker 1: a space you're in or you still very much hands
- 19:15Speaker 1: on with everything you're doing. I definitely started like doing
- 19:19Speaker 1: a lot of collaborating probably twenty sixteen, you know what
- 19:21Speaker 1: I'm saying. I feel like music is a collaborative sport,
- 19:25Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So it's just like when
- 19:27Speaker 1: you have a band and we're making the songs. You
- 19:29Speaker 1: play guitar, I played drums, you play bass, he sings.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Then like sometimes the drummer would help write the lyrics.
- 19:34Speaker 1: It's like it's like collaborative effort, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:37Speaker 1: So I feel like collaborating and music is very important
- 19:39Speaker 1: because we all just trying to make the best shit.
- 19:40Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. It don't matter if I
- 19:42Speaker 1: make it by myself, and then you know what I'm saying,
- 19:44Speaker 1: if that results will matter, It's like, and you make
- 19:48Speaker 1: the better work, you're the smarter guy. We gotta work smart,
- 19:50Speaker 1: not hard, you know what I'm saying. But yeah, man,
- 19:53Speaker 1: I don't know. Still though, It's like I definitely surround
- 19:56Speaker 1: myself sometimes a lot of producers, but I still just
- 19:58Speaker 1: like I like workflow, just like being by myself, pulling
- 20:01Speaker 1: sit up, maybe like talking to people on FaceTime this
- 20:03Speaker 1: that like I like to get in with people, you know,
- 20:05Speaker 1: but then I just get distracted. I feel like, what
- 20:07Speaker 1: are your well, like, your creative process with beats? Is
- 20:09Speaker 1: it fruity loops? Is it pro tools? Is it logic?
- 20:12Speaker 1: What do you what do you fl eleven? Forty loops? Eleven?
- 20:14Speaker 1: So you'll still be just cooking up on the laptop
- 20:16Speaker 1: and your headphones, cooking up speakers on the kitchen table,
- 20:20Speaker 1: cooking up like just having fun with it. You know
- 20:22Speaker 1: that's amazing, Just trying to like stay inspired and stuff,
- 20:25Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Because I feel like where
- 20:27Speaker 1: I'm out of my career is not all about just
- 20:29Speaker 1: like making thirty beats a day like I used to.
- 20:31Speaker 1: You know, I got a lot more like DJing, brand
- 20:34Speaker 1: and stuff, trying to drop my own singles. It's like
- 20:36Speaker 1: a lot more to it than just like making beats
- 20:38Speaker 1: every day. You know, you and Shorty Shorty did a
- 20:41Speaker 1: very slept on collapse project. Shout out to Shorty Shorty
- 20:44Speaker 1: shut Shorty, my boy? What what like? You know, when
- 20:47Speaker 1: it comes to someone like Shorty Shorty, who obviously to
- 20:51Speaker 1: me is like one of the more slept on guys
- 20:52Speaker 1: in the game, I feel like maybe it's because he's
- 20:55Speaker 1: from Baltimore. I don't know what it is, but he
- 20:57Speaker 1: got bangers. But what inspires you want to do like
- 21:01Speaker 1: a project with someone like him, just because like I
- 21:03Speaker 1: feel like he was slept on and he's so talented,
- 21:05Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I've been a fan of
- 21:07Speaker 1: him for years, so I just like finally hit him
- 21:09Speaker 1: up side. He was in La. We locked in. I
- 21:10Speaker 1: think the first studio session we made good evening. I
- 21:13Speaker 1: just thought that was such like a cool different record
- 21:15Speaker 1: where I was like, man, let's shoot this video in
- 21:16Speaker 1: Malibu in two days. I'm like, let's just bang on
- 21:19Speaker 1: the album. We bangedo the album like probably like two weeks.
- 21:21Speaker 1: That's so crazy. Is there anybody else who would want
- 21:24Speaker 1: to do a collab project with at this point? Definitely
- 21:28Speaker 1: some people, like so maybe someone who's kind of in
- 21:30Speaker 1: that same space where you feel like they might be
- 21:31Speaker 1: a little slept on, Like yeah, no, you might be
- 21:33Speaker 1: able to shine some light on what they're doing if
- 21:34Speaker 1: you collab. Probably like no Cap. I think no no Caps.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I think he just got a plaque too for vaccine
- 21:41Speaker 1: shout yeah, shout out, no Cat. I think he's super talented,
- 21:44Speaker 1: got the craziest bars. No, he's crazy, and I hear
- 21:47Speaker 1: his freestyles everything too too. Yeah. It's just crazy though,
- 21:50Speaker 1: because all like listen to his music and then like
- 21:51Speaker 1: every time I listened to his shit, I'm like listening
- 21:53Speaker 1: dissecting a new bar, like, damn, that shit is crazy.
- 21:56Speaker 1: The way he flipped that. You know, No, he's crazy
- 21:58Speaker 1: for sure. You obviously working with NICKI has gotta be
- 22:01Speaker 1: I mean, she's one of the greatest of all time. Yeah,
- 22:04Speaker 1: she's super talented. Yeah, shout out to Nikki. How weird
- 22:08Speaker 1: was it being like, uh, you know with all the
- 22:11Speaker 1: six nine should happened? Obviously you're a white kid from
- 22:15Speaker 1: fucking the Niagara region, So like whether or not the
- 22:18Speaker 1: dudes the snitch or not probably doesn't matter to you.
- 22:20Speaker 1: But did that kind of like uh, because I feel
- 22:23Speaker 1: like that was his biggest record? At least that to
- 22:25Speaker 1: me was the Thief. He's one of my biggest records.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Diamond Well Fiefe's like the only record I feel like
- 22:30Speaker 1: he ever dropped. That Like was like I really had
- 22:32Speaker 1: real crossover like potent. I was like, Yo, this ship
- 22:35Speaker 1: is like undeniable at that point. But like, what was that?
- 22:37Speaker 1: I think it was just perfect timing, great timing on
- 22:40Speaker 1: his behalve coming off nights for what he was super
- 22:43Speaker 1: hot NICKI obviously you know what I'm saying. That's just
- 22:46Speaker 1: a knockout. What was like the story behind how that
- 22:48Speaker 1: came together was did the Nicky have a lot to
- 22:50Speaker 1: do with it? Or was this six nine thing? First?
- 22:52Speaker 1: Like I pulled up on him, we made the record
- 22:55Speaker 1: in New York, and then we were like just like
- 22:58Speaker 1: brainstorming who we should get on it. He really want
- 23:00Speaker 1: to get Nikky on, and you got Nicki on and
- 23:01Speaker 1: then yeah, it was over because it was this prior
- 23:03Speaker 1: after you did No Frauds. I did know Frauds, like
- 23:06Speaker 1: twenty seventeen, twenty seventeen. This was like we did the
- 23:11Speaker 1: Fife record probably like eighteen twenty eighteen. Yeah, No Frods
- 23:17Speaker 1: a banger too. No Frauds was so hard. That was
- 23:19Speaker 1: a banger. I remember, like Drake called me, He's like, yo,
- 23:23Speaker 1: he sent me the record, and I was like, damn,
- 23:25Speaker 1: this ship wants to be crazy. I got one when
- 23:26Speaker 1: Nicki Drake and one Way and it was like a
- 23:29Speaker 1: statement record for I was like yeah, it was like
- 23:32Speaker 1: look because that was what she was going through, the
- 23:33Speaker 1: rimy mas shit. I was like, I remember I remember
- 23:35Speaker 1: playing that like and like my parents, I was like upstairs.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I was like, damn, this shit crazy. That's fucking wild
- 23:41Speaker 1: now that you're doing like live gigs right, Like, it's
- 23:44Speaker 1: a whole different game. It is a whole different game.
- 23:46Speaker 1: People don't realize that. Shit. I love DJing now, man, Like,
- 23:50Speaker 1: were you ever djaying in the past? No, So I
- 23:53Speaker 1: wasn't djaying and like people were telling me to start
- 23:55Speaker 1: DJing because people want to start seeing me. So we
- 23:57Speaker 1: were getting booking officer and shit, I was like, man,
- 23:58Speaker 1: I don't really want to DJ, right, And then we
- 24:01Speaker 1: finally we took on like five years ago. It was
- 24:02Speaker 1: like a New Year's gig in Hawaii. I was like
- 24:06Speaker 1: teaching myself how to DJ in like the fucking hotel
- 24:08Speaker 1: room before sound check, and wow, I was like learning
- 24:10Speaker 1: in soundcheck. I like brought somewone with me and like yeah,
- 24:13Speaker 1: like from then, even like I didn't really fuck with DJ.
- 24:16Speaker 1: But then like when I started going on tours and ship,
- 24:18Speaker 1: like I started to having a good time. And then
- 24:20Speaker 1: like Coachella, like I brought out like d MX and
- 24:23Speaker 1: for Where's the Kid Tie and like that, shit was
- 24:26Speaker 1: just like so incredible. I just started like to like
- 24:29Speaker 1: the feeling you know what I'm saying, and like controlling
- 24:31Speaker 1: the energy and like, you know what I'm saying, you
- 24:33Speaker 1: could play certain records get the crowd going, and you're
- 24:35Speaker 1: like you could play just a lot of your own
- 24:38Speaker 1: ship like that. Yeah, that's like like when I when
- 24:40Speaker 1: I when I play in like so like my Birthday's Friday,
- 24:44Speaker 1: I'm performing at Hakasant on my birthday. I was about
- 24:47Speaker 1: to be well, might as well dj already on my birthday,
- 24:50Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Because I'm going to party
- 24:52Speaker 1: out of the way. So it's like when I'm DJing
- 24:54Speaker 1: in Vegas, I played for like two hours. You know
- 24:55Speaker 1: what I'm saying. It's a long time. So I'll play
- 24:57Speaker 1: some of my records and stuff. But I just really
- 24:59Speaker 1: wanted to just like play what I think everyone's gonna
- 25:01Speaker 1: go crazy too, you know, Like I'm just trying to
- 25:03Speaker 1: curate like a crazy party for sure. Yeah, like you
- 25:07Speaker 1: want to play your own ship, but like you also
- 25:08Speaker 1: want to make sure like you don't want to be
- 25:10Speaker 1: the guy that only plays your ship. Like you know
- 25:12Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like I just like you want everyone, Yeah,
- 25:14Speaker 1: you want everyone to have for you. You know. I
- 25:16Speaker 1: love the party, man, Like I love to turn up
- 25:19Speaker 1: and have fun. So like I just feel like when
- 25:20Speaker 1: I'm DJing, I'm like I'm on the ox court. You
- 25:23Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. You gotta rewind a little bit.
- 25:25Speaker 1: When you did Coachella, I didn't know you brought DMX
- 25:27Speaker 1: out crazy. Well, how did that happen? That's a wild
- 25:31Speaker 1: generational difference there. We were trying to figure out who
- 25:34Speaker 1: to bring out, and I think it was my manager ID.
- 25:36Speaker 1: He was like, man, we should bring out d MX.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I heard he's like in the Bay. So we ended
- 25:40Speaker 1: up like booking him a sprinter from like the Bay
- 25:44Speaker 1: to Coachella. Oh wow, And like he made it like
- 25:46Speaker 1: just on time, like like he made it like just
- 25:49Speaker 1: like like we didn't even know if he was gonna
- 25:50Speaker 1: make it so like that whole time at Coachell, like
- 25:53Speaker 1: I didn't know if I didn't know if certain people
- 25:55Speaker 1: were even gonna pull out, kept looking back like X here, Yeah,
- 25:58Speaker 1: but he came out on staying is you know what
- 26:00Speaker 1: I'm saying. He did his thing too. That was crazy.
- 26:03Speaker 1: That was like I feel like that was like the
- 26:04Speaker 1: first like big performance back that he had because and
- 26:08Speaker 1: I know after that he did some rolling unds and
- 26:10Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, But that was like that
- 26:11Speaker 1: was a big one man. All Right, It's crazy you
- 26:14Speaker 1: mentioned your birthday because I used to work with a
- 26:17Speaker 1: weed company in Arizona called Vapin and they sponsored your
- 26:20Speaker 1: birthday party. Yeah. So my guy Tie owns a company,
- 26:25Speaker 1: Yeah twenty eighteen, so I was there, and were you
- 26:28Speaker 1: in Arizona? No, I mean yeah, I mean I'm from Arizona,
- 26:31Speaker 1: but they threw a crazy party in Arizona. The house
- 26:33Speaker 1: party that was Liz. I canceled my YG was three
- 26:40Speaker 1: hours late to our interview out here in La, so
- 26:43Speaker 1: I was either going to stay in La and interview
- 26:46Speaker 1: YG and missed my flight to go DJ that fucking party,
- 26:50Speaker 1: and I ended up doing the YG interview and then
- 26:52Speaker 1: Dre Sinatra covered for me and DJ. That ship I
- 26:54Speaker 1: was on tour with g Eazy tye Y Buzy Uzzy Yeah,
- 27:00Speaker 1: and that ship so they sponsored. Yeah, yeah, that ship
- 27:03Speaker 1: was mad fun. Man. They took us to the the
- 27:07Speaker 1: Weed warehouse and ship saw like so much fucking weed.
- 27:10Speaker 1: But they sponsored your birthday out here. I think by
- 27:13Speaker 1: that time I was working with them and like, yeah,
- 27:15Speaker 1: that was a lip party. There was a while. That
- 27:17Speaker 1: was when I first met the Milk Boys. They had
- 27:19Speaker 1: just moved from Canada to here. Melly was there, Kodak
- 27:24Speaker 1: was there, They were lit. That was That was actually
- 27:26Speaker 1: crazy that Melly and Kodak were both there at the
- 27:29Speaker 1: same time. Yeah, that ship was, man. That was right
- 27:31Speaker 1: before I want to say that was right before Melle
- 27:34Speaker 1: got locked up. Because we were the last interview. Did
- 27:37Speaker 1: he did? And I think we interviewed him like the
- 27:39Speaker 1: day or two before that, and then I feel like
- 27:41Speaker 1: he got locked up like a week after that or something. Yeah, no,
- 27:45Speaker 1: he definitely he wanted to come turn up real quick,
- 27:47Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, Yeah, that was a pretty epic. Yeah,
- 27:49Speaker 1: you know how to party for sure, Free my boy, Melly. Man,
- 27:52Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I don't know what's going
- 27:54Speaker 1: on with that. I just know every every two weeks
- 27:56Speaker 1: there's like an update, and some of them sometimes they're contradicting,
- 27:58Speaker 1: and I'm like, I don't know what's gonna you. You
- 28:00Speaker 1: and you and Mellie, like we'll talk about that relationship.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Like he's obviously a very uh I wouldn't say misunderstood,
- 28:06Speaker 1: but very man. He's a talented He's like a super
- 28:10Speaker 1: talented artist. Man. Like I just like started listening to
- 28:12Speaker 1: his music. I'm like, man, this kid's fire. Ended up
- 28:15Speaker 1: finding some time when he was in LA, pulled up
- 28:17Speaker 1: on him. We did like five records, I'd say four
- 28:20Speaker 1: or five records, and like he was kind of like
- 28:24Speaker 1: the same thing, like freestyling everything going crazy. I was like, man,
- 28:27Speaker 1: this Gid's talented ship like super talented, you know what
- 28:29Speaker 1: I mean? And then he ended up getting locked up
- 28:32Speaker 1: and ship, So uh, I released one record I had
- 28:35Speaker 1: been in a split record I had that I put
- 28:37Speaker 1: Dirk on and dropped that like during COVID, and then
- 28:40Speaker 1: he dropped a couple of records. And I think there's
- 28:42Speaker 1: like one or two more records we got in the
- 28:44Speaker 1: vault that are that are probably coming out soon, So
- 28:46Speaker 1: stay tuned. Do you still like tap in with up
- 28:49Speaker 1: and coming producers for like loops or ship like that?
- 28:51Speaker 1: Like someone has like a fire loop pack, Like, were
- 28:54Speaker 1: you still like tap in with one hundred percent? Man? Man,
- 28:57Speaker 1: my email is fucking crazy. I feel I swear these
- 29:00Speaker 1: kids are selling my email. Swear they selling my email
- 29:03Speaker 1: or something. Because there's always just something about coming kids
- 29:06Speaker 1: producers sending me shit, and I always just fuck with
- 29:08Speaker 1: them like I'm like, man, might as well you know
- 29:10Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Like just like when I was a
- 29:11Speaker 1: young kid, It's like, boy, wonder you know what I'm saying.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I hit wand up and then one is like, yeah,
- 29:15Speaker 1: pull up on me, I go pull up this grip
- 29:17Speaker 1: cook up. It's like the same thing, you know what
- 29:18Speaker 1: I'm saying. The youth man, music's a young sport, it is, man.
- 29:22Speaker 1: So it's like, you know what I'm saying, these kids
- 29:23Speaker 1: are amazing at making beats. Now, Like I'm like, damn,
- 29:26Speaker 1: they're making up my shit sound kind of you know
- 29:28Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like I got to figure out how
- 29:29Speaker 1: to make my shit more special because these kids are
- 29:32Speaker 1: thirteen years old making the hardest shit. What is like
- 29:35Speaker 1: the secret to your run being as long as it's
- 29:38Speaker 1: been and continuing because there are is Like I said,
- 29:40Speaker 1: there are people who have errors, but there are a
- 29:42Speaker 1: lot of producers that will have like a two year
- 29:44Speaker 1: spike and then they just go away. That's happened a lot.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Like what do you think has kind of been a
- 29:49Speaker 1: secret to yourself for longevity? Just being grateful god, you
- 29:54Speaker 1: know what I mean, and just like building a sustainable
- 29:56Speaker 1: brand that's like here to last, you know what I'm saying.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Like it's not like I like I just think I
- 30:02Speaker 1: had I had my little run, but like I'm still
- 30:04Speaker 1: like pumping shit out, you know what I'm saying. So
- 30:06Speaker 1: just gotta stay grateful, stay down, keep working, stay focused.
- 30:10Speaker 1: You know. But and I think a lot of it's
- 30:12Speaker 1: just timing, you know, like coming out of like I
- 30:14Speaker 1: started to like get build my brand during the end
- 30:17Speaker 1: of the mixtape era and that and then I had
- 30:19Speaker 1: my running like the very beginning of streaming. Streaming, yeah
- 30:22Speaker 1: for sure, you know what I mean. Yeah, two different
- 30:23Speaker 1: eras for sure, Like the dat pif era all the
- 30:25Speaker 1: way to the stream I was always mixtapes, that pip SoundCloud,
- 30:29Speaker 1: all that shit SoundCloud, you know what I mean. I
- 30:31Speaker 1: still use the dat pitf app for certain shit I
- 30:33Speaker 1: can't get on the DSPs. It's like the only place
- 30:35Speaker 1: I listened to it. And like I even caught like
- 30:38Speaker 1: the SoundCloud era, like when it was like at his
- 30:40Speaker 1: peak to like even Butterfly Effect, Like I remember when
- 30:43Speaker 1: that was straight to soundclouds. Travis dropped a three pack.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I remember he dropped off three I'm like, damn, I
- 30:48Speaker 1: don't know. These other songs are fire to the next day,
- 30:50Speaker 1: Butterfly Effect had like fourteen million plays on SoundCloud and
- 30:55Speaker 1: one day and they were like yo, this single, push
- 30:57Speaker 1: it like they were just like from there, pushed it,
- 31:00Speaker 1: unmixed straight to radio everything. Remember when that record was
- 31:04Speaker 1: like crazy, I've never seen some shit like I think
- 31:07Speaker 1: out of my whole career, like that record, like the
- 31:10Speaker 1: first day was like the craziest shit, like yeah, and
- 31:13Speaker 1: it's still researches really well because we still play the
- 31:15Speaker 1: funk out of it in LA on the radio like yeah,
- 31:18Speaker 1: and the thing is too with that record, I feel
- 31:21Speaker 1: like it didn't do as good on radio or like
- 31:25Speaker 1: the chart wise as it should because it was such
- 31:28Speaker 1: like a cultural song for like shows and like live performance,
- 31:32Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Hey, we gotta stuff the
- 31:34Speaker 1: podcast man, real quick. Appreciate y'all for watching, really mean

- 31:46Speaker 1: don't know I like to talk to anyway. Hey, shout

- 32:49Speaker 1: socksoficial dot com. Go show us some love and let's
- 32:52Speaker 1: get back to the interview. You know, I I think
- 32:55Speaker 1: of like certain producers beats like a when we think
- 32:58Speaker 1: of like just blaze like exhibit A. See is like
- 33:01Speaker 1: his like magnum opus, like like what you are, in
- 33:04Speaker 1: your opinion, your favorite or your best beat that you've
- 33:07Speaker 1: ever made, that like not the biggest, but just the
- 33:10Speaker 1: one beat that you're like, this shit is so crazy.
- 33:13Speaker 1: If you take the rappers off, this shit is just
- 33:16Speaker 1: a banger buzzing by party next door in Lil YACHTI
- 33:21Speaker 1: I feel like that beat is just crazy, the bounce
- 33:24Speaker 1: and everything about that beat is so different and it's
- 33:26Speaker 1: just so hard. But if we're talking like big beats too,
- 33:29Speaker 1: like I think Motorsport, man, that beat just smax. Like,
- 33:33Speaker 1: I don't know what I did. I think I had
- 33:34Speaker 1: to kick way too loud and then then when they
- 33:36Speaker 1: mixed it, but that shit knocks in the club. Yeah,
- 33:39Speaker 1: Motorsport was a crazy moment. The only time we've heard
- 33:42Speaker 1: Nicky and Cardi on a record together. Crazy when you
- 33:44Speaker 1: when you did that record, did the Migos late, Like,
- 33:47Speaker 1: did you have any idea that that was going to
- 33:48Speaker 1: be the plan to like put them to on the
- 33:50Speaker 1: on the song or even uh nah? So I made
- 33:54Speaker 1: the beat in Toronto, I mean that shit on like
- 33:56Speaker 1: a little last speaker man, like this big and my
- 33:57Speaker 1: boy's conda. I sent it to a couple of urt
- 34:00Speaker 1: Then I ended up pulling up on the Migos in
- 34:03Speaker 1: New York at Quad and I pulled up that beat
- 34:05Speaker 1: and me and Quevo made Motorsport right there. And then
- 34:08Speaker 1: I think, like a couple months later, he told me
- 34:10Speaker 1: like he's like, yeah, I got Cardi and Nicky. You're like, man,
- 34:13Speaker 1: you're crazy, man, you know what I'm saying. But out
- 34:16Speaker 1: of anybody that could have did that. He did it,
- 34:18Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So he did do it.
- 34:20Speaker 1: He did that shit that probably never is gonna happen again.
- 34:22Speaker 1: That shit was crazy. That was a That was a moment. Yeah,
- 34:26Speaker 1: real shit, that was a fucking moment for sure. What
- 34:29Speaker 1: is like now that you obviously are working on your
- 34:31Speaker 1: new album, are you going to be uh? Are we
- 34:36Speaker 1: just doing singles? Are we doing a project? I'm definitely
- 34:39Speaker 1: trying to gear up for a project, but I definitely
- 34:41Speaker 1: want to keep just dropping singles and I definitely want
- 34:44Speaker 1: to like showcase like new talent too, you know what
- 34:46Speaker 1: I'm saying. Because I dropped one project ever. It was
- 34:50Speaker 1: twenty sixteen. I dropped Keep God first. It was a mixtape,
- 34:53Speaker 1: and like I had like a lot of people on
- 34:54Speaker 1: there before they were really big, Like like I had
- 34:56Speaker 1: like solo offset songs on there before Bad and Booze.
- 34:59Speaker 1: I had like played with Cardi on there before he
- 35:02Speaker 1: really popped off. Like everyone was kind of like, you
- 35:04Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, had some people from Kids from
- 35:06Speaker 1: Toronto on there before they popped off. So I feel
- 35:08Speaker 1: like it's important as a producer to drop a project
- 35:12Speaker 1: and like put people on like give them. You you're
- 35:15Speaker 1: using your platform, you know what I'm saying. So with this,
- 35:18Speaker 1: with the new music, you want to make sure you're awesome.
- 35:19Speaker 1: I mean you did that with Shorty Shorty. I feel
- 35:21Speaker 1: because I feel like Shorty Shorty. I mean obviously I
- 35:22Speaker 1: bet you it was a golden platinum record. Yeah, he
- 35:24Speaker 1: was already doing his thing. I still feel like he
- 35:26Speaker 1: kind of you know, it was it was. It was
- 35:29Speaker 1: dope to see him collaborate with you because I knew
- 35:31Speaker 1: it would bring new eyes to what he does. Yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 1: and I feel like it worked out perfect. So you know,
- 35:35Speaker 1: who are some of the new artists that you're like,
- 35:37Speaker 1: really you know, because you've got a great year that
- 35:40Speaker 1: you're really fucking with that, Like you know, you kind
- 35:42Speaker 1: of feel like you're in a similar space that you
- 35:44Speaker 1: were in twenty sixteen to kind of put them on
- 35:47Speaker 1: or help at least. There's this kid Doov in Toronto,
- 35:49Speaker 1: super Far. He's like, he's probably next up in Canada.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Shout out to Doov. He's dope, definitely like no cap,
- 35:57Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, I fuck with him. There's
- 35:59Speaker 1: there's so many people, you know what I'm saying. So
- 36:01Speaker 1: we've got to see who who I work with. What
- 36:03Speaker 1: I appreciate about you is that, at least not to
- 36:05Speaker 1: my knowledge, you haven't done the low hanging fruit DM
- 36:08Speaker 1: shit yet Or is that just edm like like a
- 36:12Speaker 1: murder beats, like fucking fist pump vegas anthem that like
- 36:17Speaker 1: like I feel like you know, you know what I mean, right, Like,
- 36:20Speaker 1: because now that you're DJ, and I'm sure it's like
- 36:22Speaker 1: you you might get the itch to be like, man,
- 36:24Speaker 1: I need one of these because you know, all the
- 36:26Speaker 1: MD because all the DJs are stealing from hip hop shit,
- 36:30Speaker 1: all the DM guys are making rap records. I fuck
- 36:32Speaker 1: with a lot of the DJs though, you know what
- 36:33Speaker 1: I'm saying, shout out to all the DJs. Know they're
- 36:35Speaker 1: all cool, but they're still they're still all making rap records.
- 36:38Speaker 1: It's just hard for me because like I'm like a
- 36:40Speaker 1: hip hop DJ, so it's like I'm not even playing
- 36:43Speaker 1: like DM and ship at my shows. Do you feel
- 36:46Speaker 1: some type of way when you see some of these
- 36:47Speaker 1: DM guys like making rap records You're like, well, it's
- 36:49Speaker 1: kind of like this is not what you do, Like no, really,
- 36:52Speaker 1: I don't know it is what it is. Music is
- 36:54Speaker 1: music at the end of the day. That's fair. It
- 36:56Speaker 1: only matters who does it better, right, that is true.
- 36:59Speaker 1: That is true, whoever does it better? Pretty much? And hey,
- 37:02Speaker 1: I would give I'll give. I gotta give props to Skrillics.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Scrillic is a fucking beast of a producer. He is
- 37:06Speaker 1: a beast of a producer. I've been in the studio
- 37:07Speaker 1: with him a couple of times. He's a monster. Yeah,
- 37:09Speaker 1: he'll be playing guitar a bunch of shit. He could
- 37:11Speaker 1: do all kinds of ship. What about like a placement wise, like,
- 37:14Speaker 1: do you got any big records coming? I got some
- 37:17Speaker 1: shit going, some ship coming. I'm not gonna lie my
- 37:19Speaker 1: next single I'm really excited about. I'm going to drop
- 37:22Speaker 1: some ship. When is that coming? Some ship? Uh? Probably soon?
- 37:26Speaker 1: How many artists around there with you? Uh? Three? Can
- 37:32Speaker 1: I try to guess? Uh? If I guess correctly, what
- 37:41Speaker 1: you confirm? I don't. I don't know. You can guess
- 37:44Speaker 1: that I don't know. Give me one city from one
- 37:46Speaker 1: of the artists Earth Earth, come on, man, I don't know.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Is obviously Atlanta? Maybe? Yeah? It could be, man, this
- 37:58Speaker 1: guy said, could be. I will let you break it though.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Have you be crazy? Have you ever worked with Kanye Uh,
- 38:07Speaker 1: we worked on I work with Kanye on some of
- 38:10Speaker 1: the six nine ship, like oh when he was doing
- 38:12Speaker 1: this and what uh the six nine records he put out?
- 38:17Speaker 1: Never really I'm trying to remember this something. Yeah, the songs,
- 38:20Speaker 1: I did both of them, the Kango one Kango Yeah, yeah,
- 38:24Speaker 1: the Mama one or some ship. Would you work with
- 38:27Speaker 1: six Night again? I don't know. I don't know. Probably not.
- 38:31Speaker 1: It's gonna make sense, right, yeah, I don't know. It's
- 38:33Speaker 1: got it, you know what I'm saying. I mean him
- 38:35Speaker 1: and NBA Young Boy apparently got a fucking five records together,
- 38:37Speaker 1: which that's probably pretty crazy. I don't know. You know
- 38:39Speaker 1: what I'm saying. What about Young Boy? Would you work
- 38:42Speaker 1: with Young Boy? I already do work with Young Boy? Like,
- 38:43Speaker 1: what's what's his his thing? Man? Because I feel like
- 38:46Speaker 1: he's I feel like he's a super talented. He's super talented,
- 38:49Speaker 1: but I just feel like he might be a little misunderstood.
- 38:52Speaker 1: He's very like, uh, he's just kind of on an
- 38:55Speaker 1: island in hip hop. He's dope though, he's a dope artist.
- 38:59Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. No one can take that
- 39:01Speaker 1: from oh, one hundred percent No, he's incredible. I just
- 39:03Speaker 1: feel like, you know, he's just like I've never seen
- 39:05Speaker 1: someone just on an island and they just don't give
- 39:07Speaker 1: a fuck about anything else, just in his own world,
- 39:09Speaker 1: kind of doing his own thing. It's pretty wild. But
- 39:11Speaker 1: it's working for him too. It is working. It is working.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Any new Migo shit coming that you're a part of,
- 39:18Speaker 1: it's coming, it's coming. Migos are always working, you know.
- 39:20Speaker 1: I love the last Migos album was super crazy. Yeah,
- 39:24Speaker 1: I'm happy they got somehow slept on as well. I
- 39:26Speaker 1: don't think the new Migo's album that came out last
- 39:28Speaker 1: year got as much love as shit, because it was
- 39:30Speaker 1: fucking amazing. I feel like it just took a long
- 39:32Speaker 1: time to get it out, but finally it came out,
- 39:36Speaker 1: and like I feel like it did what it did,
- 39:38Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. They had their shit on there.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I feel like everyone who listened to it was like
- 39:41Speaker 1: it was a solid album, you know, And that's at
- 39:43Speaker 1: the end of the day. Well, the song is going
- 39:45Speaker 1: crazy one shot with shout out to Wallet, shouts to Blast.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Are you gonna tapping with any other la guys? One
- 39:53Speaker 1: hundred percent? Because Blast is the is obviously the hottest, right,
- 39:56Speaker 1: But there's so much talent in LA. There's a lot
- 39:58Speaker 1: of talent in La. I feel like La is kind
- 40:01Speaker 1: of like Toronto and Away where there's like a lot
- 40:02Speaker 1: of underground, so much artists, you know what I'm saying,
- 40:05Speaker 1: and they just got to figure out how to Like
- 40:07Speaker 1: any LA guys who you kind of got your eye
- 40:09Speaker 1: on that you're just fucking with. Their music is like
- 40:10Speaker 1: an awesome fan Shit, there's a couple I don't I
- 40:15Speaker 1: don't know, I don't know. Yeah, this song there's some Okay,
- 40:21Speaker 1: well there it is, man, Well listen, the song is crazy.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Looking forward to more singles this year. The next singles
- 40:28Speaker 1: coming soon with three artists from Earth. Yeah, on the
- 40:33Speaker 1: lookout for those. Are you, I mean, are you dabbling
- 40:37Speaker 1: into the NFT shit at all? Hell? Yeah? Man, you
- 40:39Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. The wallet is looking crazy. What
- 40:42Speaker 1: Like I'm fully tapped in with like cryptocurrency and I
- 40:47Speaker 1: have my own crypto shit going is good man, the
- 40:49Speaker 1: NFT world I still haven't touched because I'm afraid, Like,
- 40:52Speaker 1: I just feel like there's so much bullshit going on. No,
- 40:55Speaker 1: for sure, Like a lot of his rug pulls. It
- 40:58Speaker 1: is like will last. So like make sure when you
- 41:00Speaker 1: say rugpool, what does that mean. It's just like a
- 41:02Speaker 1: lot of it just people are just trying to make money,
- 41:04Speaker 1: you know with nuts. Yeah yeah, rug pool. Yeah, Now
- 41:08Speaker 1: I got your money the fuck out of here. Yeah.
- 41:10Speaker 1: But you've been pretty heavy into crypto for a while.
- 41:12Speaker 1: I've been I've been heavy in the crypto for like
- 41:13Speaker 1: the last couple of years. So when bitcoin was at
- 41:16Speaker 1: like nine thousand, well shit, even though it took a ship,
- 41:19Speaker 1: now it's it's gonna go right back up. Did you buy?
- 41:22Speaker 1: Do you buy more when the dip happens? Yes, I
- 41:24Speaker 1: buy the dip, not every dip, because it's like this
- 41:26Speaker 1: is a pretty big fucking dip. It just happened like
- 41:29Speaker 1: it was funny, so like it was dipping and like
- 41:30Speaker 1: I bought some and then it kept going I'm like,
- 41:33Speaker 1: what do I buy more now? But now it's going
- 41:35Speaker 1: back up. So yeah, it's always like when the dip happens,
- 41:37Speaker 1: you always don't know when the floor is hick. The
- 41:40Speaker 1: thing is is like once you start to pay attention
- 41:42Speaker 1: to the crypto and you you kind of like you
- 41:44Speaker 1: can kind of like understand like what's happening in the market.
- 41:48Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like you can kind of
- 41:49Speaker 1: be like all right cool, Like once you hit a dip,

- 42:07Speaker 1: like heavy in the crypt Bitcoin. Ethereum is the one.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Etherereum is the one because everyone's using ethereum, and I
- 42:15Speaker 1: feel like ethereum at least like practicability, like like like
- 42:20Speaker 1: people actually use it in the meta universe, Like it
- 42:23Speaker 1: feels like the lac people buy stuff with. Yeah, no
- 42:26Speaker 1: for sure. And you know what I'm saying. I know
- 42:28Speaker 1: that like in the future, like yeah, people are gonna
- 42:31Speaker 1: be using like you're gonna be using bitcoin to buy
- 42:34Speaker 1: things in stores and should I saw like Microsoft's gonna
- 42:36Speaker 1: be using Ethereum in a couple of years. It's like
- 42:38Speaker 1: when you're online, it's like it's just gonna get crazy, man.
- 42:41Speaker 1: I just want people to get hip and like educate,
- 42:44Speaker 1: like you know, people like to hate on what they
- 42:45Speaker 1: don't understand, and that I feel that's a problem in
- 42:48Speaker 1: the world and in society. People just have to educate. Learn.
- 42:51Speaker 1: You go on YouTube, watch a two minute video on
- 42:53Speaker 1: crypto and learn a little bit. And I feel like
- 42:55Speaker 1: if once you buy someone and you just start to
- 42:57Speaker 1: understand it, it's like addicting. It's like fun. You no cryptos,
- 43:01Speaker 1: It's cool, it's like a fun I mean, like, look,
- 43:02Speaker 1: and plus there's I made some great money off of
- 43:05Speaker 1: Ripple shout out to Ripple that x y P. And
- 43:07Speaker 1: then it's like it's a whole different community you can
- 43:09Speaker 1: get involved in. And then there's parties for this community.
- 43:13Speaker 1: The parties are crazy. Have you even booked at any
- 43:14Speaker 1: of those parties to flip their lip? Man? That's money.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Fun people. Everybody just wants to make money with you
- 43:19Speaker 1: or make you some money, and they're trying to get
- 43:21Speaker 1: you to start your own murder beats coin, trying to
- 43:23Speaker 1: make it start everything metaverse everything. Yeah, Like like have
- 43:27Speaker 1: you rolled out your own cause you know I seen Uh.
- 43:30Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of the producer ill Mind be

- 43:36Speaker 1: I Mind, he's like Usler he getting money. Think about
- 43:38Speaker 1: ill Mine is like he's at the forefront of like
- 43:41Speaker 1: doing ship like he's coin. Yeah, he's got some I
- 43:45Speaker 1: think it's a beat coin or something that I don't know.
- 43:47Speaker 1: He's killing it for sure. Being in Canada, like, uh,
- 43:51Speaker 1: a lot of cool things going on in Canada. Shrooms
- 43:53Speaker 1: are legal. Uh. I just saw that. They actually just
- 43:57Speaker 1: like said something yesterday about they like made it legal
- 44:01Speaker 1: and like more legal or something out here in Canada.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Oh I heard that. You could just trooms are just
- 44:07Speaker 1: legal out there. Maybe I'm wrong, psilocybin is Maybe it's
- 44:10Speaker 1: open opened up out there. I'm American now, man, you
- 44:13Speaker 1: know you're American now? Is it kind of weird? Like, uh,
- 44:17Speaker 1: being being from Canada and like seeing like just how
- 44:21Speaker 1: divisive and crazy America has been since you've been here.
- 44:25Speaker 1: America is pretty crazy. It's just Canada's crazy too though. Well. Yeah,
- 44:28Speaker 1: they got like the truck shit going on. They got
- 44:31Speaker 1: so much shit going on over there too. It's like, man,
- 44:33Speaker 1: Canada is fucking crazy too in its own way. Yeah,
- 44:36Speaker 1: just fucking At least you guys get free healthcare. Yeah,
- 44:39Speaker 1: I don't get it no more because so if you
- 44:41Speaker 1: break your leg, you don't go back home and just no,
- 44:44Speaker 1: no you just gotta spend too much time over here.
- 44:46Speaker 1: So so they're like, fuck you you're American now, Like wow,
- 44:49Speaker 1: that's some bullshit. They you should just be Canadian for
- 44:51Speaker 1: life and fucking bullshit, man, shout out to Canada. It's
- 44:54Speaker 1: crazy though, So like when I first started coming to
- 44:56Speaker 1: America and I tell people like we're from Canada, like
- 44:58Speaker 1: blah blah, people didn't get a fuck. But then when
- 45:01Speaker 1: Drake started calling it the Six and all that movement
- 45:04Speaker 1: started happening, people are way y'all from the six. It
- 45:07Speaker 1: was like different than people are, Like fucking was extra
- 45:09Speaker 1: heavy just because we're Canadian, you know what I mean? Now,
- 45:12Speaker 1: Canada is something in the water in Canada in the
- 45:14Speaker 1: last ten years, it's just y'all ran music. It's like
- 45:17Speaker 1: Justin Bieber's artists, dre goosers, songwriters. No, it's crazy. And
- 45:22Speaker 1: then you know what's another cool thing about Canada is
- 45:24Speaker 1: it's almost like a bunch of black countries within one country.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Because there's like parts of Canada where everyone speaks French,
- 45:31Speaker 1: like Montreal and all that shit. There's parts that are
- 45:33Speaker 1: like always snow and like no one can live on
- 45:35Speaker 1: They're like there's igloos and shit, and then there's like
- 45:38Speaker 1: Vancouver and just Nard Wars there interview and everybody and yeah,
- 45:42Speaker 1: Wars have you done the Nard War interview? Need my interview? Yo,
- 45:46Speaker 1: Nard War sweetest guy ever, the ripest human being I've

- 46:00Speaker 1: I thought he would smell. That would be fair, That's yeah.
- 46:03Speaker 1: He did not disappoint. You know when you meet like
- 46:05Speaker 1: a famous person and they disappoint your not disappointed. That
- 46:09Speaker 1: happens a lot. It does. It does, man. It's because
- 46:11Speaker 1: you listen to people's music and you think you know
- 46:13Speaker 1: that you know there it is man, We'll listen. Appreciate
