- 0:00Speaker: Welcome to the Growth Pro Edge.
- 0:02Speaker: We're here to help scale your
- 0:04Speaker: business, build stronger teams
- 0:06Speaker: and sharpen your leadership
- 0:08Speaker: skills.
- 0:10Speaker: I'm your host Denise Killian
- 0:12Speaker: with a growth pro group and
- 0:13Speaker: trainer attainment.
- 0:15Speaker: And believe it or not, Q4 is just around the corner.
- 0:20Speaker: October one will be here before we know it.
- 0:23Speaker: So I could think of no one better than our own Vivien
- 0:26Speaker: Quintero, marketing guru and genius, to talk about what you
- 0:32Speaker: should be doing now to gear up and make this fourth quarter the
- 0:37Speaker: best of the year.
- 0:39Speaker: So let's get started to sharpen your edge, Vivien.
- 0:42Speaker: Thank you so much for being here for Think Tank Thursday.
- 0:45Speaker: I'm thrilled to have you.
- 0:49Speaker: Thank you.
- 0:49Speaker: Denise.
- 0:50Speaker: Well, I cannot wait because, you
- 0:52Speaker: know, Q4 is just getting
- 0:55Speaker: started.
- 0:55Speaker: And I think we've got so many things going on that, um, I'm
- 0:59Speaker: really excited about Q4.
- 1:00Speaker: I think this year we've got I think holidays are the biggest
- 1:05Speaker: quarter for the the FCS.
- 1:07Speaker: So perfect timing.
- 1:09Speaker: That's right, that's right.
- 1:10Speaker: We if we gotta get going.
- 1:12Speaker: Um, so Vivian, before we get started with that, I want those
- 1:16Speaker: that don't know your brilliance, uh, and your story, tell us a
- 1:21Speaker: little bit about yourself and why you are our marketing guru
- 1:26Speaker: here at Trader Tainment and the Growth Pro Group.
- 1:29Speaker: Well, thank you Denise.
- 1:30Speaker: Um, I have been with entertainment for, gosh, about
- 1:34Speaker: half of its life right now.
- 1:35Speaker: You know, we're celebrating our twentieth this year.
- 1:38Speaker: So it's so exciting.
- 1:39Speaker: And I've been here for half of that.
- 1:41Speaker: And it is really, really exciting to see the growth and
- 1:45Speaker: see all of the, the people that, that have come in and out of
- 1:48Speaker: entertainment and the value that we're bringing to our customers.
- 1:52Speaker: I think that that is really the key.
- 1:54Speaker: And that's what really makes us strong, makes us a strong group.
- 1:59Speaker: Um, so I just, I love working at entertainment.
- 2:02Speaker: I love the, uh, the exciting things that the folks are
- 2:05Speaker: bringing the, the communities and, um, just can't wait for,
- 2:09Speaker: for this holiday.
- 2:11Speaker: Q4 season.
- 2:13Speaker: Well, let's get, let's jump right in.
- 2:15Speaker: Right?
- 2:15Speaker: As you mentioned, Q4 is, uh,
- 2:19Speaker: most likely the biggest money
- 2:22Speaker: maker, right?
- 2:22Speaker: That's your biggest quarter in your f e c because there's so
- 2:27Speaker: many opportunities to bring more folks into the door.
- 2:32Speaker: So let's get started with, if you haven't developed your
- 2:36Speaker: marketing plan for Q4, you need to do it right now.
- 2:40Speaker: If you haven't developed your marketing plan for Q4.
- 2:42Speaker: Yes, you are way behind the ball, right?
- 2:45Speaker: So we're almost we're almost done with the year.
- 2:47Speaker: So hopefully you have, uh, taken
- 2:50Speaker: advice from us from, from the
- 2:51Speaker: past.
- 2:52Speaker: If you're new to watching our think tanks, I hope throughout
- 2:56Speaker: the year that one of our guests, you know, kind of inspired you
- 2:59Speaker: to really think outside the box.
- 3:01Speaker: And, you know, with AI and all of our great guests that we've
- 3:05Speaker: had on here.
- 3:06Speaker: Um, so by now, I'm hoping that they do have some kind of plan
- 3:10Speaker: together, but the focus really on Q4 is group events, holiday
- 3:15Speaker: parties, and then all those fun events that that happen through
- 3:20Speaker: the last quarter.
- 3:21Speaker: You know, we've got, um, our, our big spooky season coming up
- 3:25Speaker: right in October.
- 3:26Speaker: So, uh, I know folks love that because they, they really, they,
- 3:30Speaker: they, they get started now at the beginning of October, really
- 3:36Speaker: late, late September, all the way through October, um, with
- 3:40Speaker: holiday decorations and just making it really fun.
- 3:43Speaker: Um, so that there can be a lot of fall festivals and we just,
- 3:48Speaker: we're moving from that spooky season to that season of
- 3:51Speaker: gratefulness for Thanksgiving.
- 3:53Speaker: So those decorations come up and gosh, it's we have like the
- 3:58Speaker: three big things coming up at the end of the year, right?
- 4:01Speaker: So there, I'm sure pulling and pulling and pulling down
- 4:04Speaker: decorations as they go along.
- 4:06Speaker: And with that comes all those promotions.
- 4:10Speaker: So as we start thinking about the month of October, uh, and I
- 4:17Speaker: want to have this conversation with you because I, I find
- 4:19Speaker: myself having it often, uh, with the folks that we work with.
- 4:24Speaker: Um, how long of a lead time do you.
- 4:29Speaker: It's a two part question.
- 4:30Speaker: How long of a lead time do you
- 4:31Speaker: need to be start promoting a
- 4:33Speaker: specific event?
- 4:35Speaker: Number one.
- 4:36Speaker: And number two, how long before it catches on?
- 4:41Speaker: What I mean is if you do it once and it's not what you imagine,
- 4:46Speaker: never do it again.
- 4:47Speaker: Is that the right attitude?
- 4:49Speaker: No no no no. So, um, you know, in we have our, uh, promotions
- 4:54Speaker: and marketing, uh, guide that we do have on our on our website.
- 4:59Speaker: So we talk a lot about the thirty, sixty, ninety day
- 5:02Speaker: promotion life cycle.
- 5:03Speaker: Um, so we want to make sure that
- 5:05Speaker: we are planning things out if
- 5:07Speaker: possible at that ninety day
- 5:09Speaker: period, because it's going to be
- 5:11Speaker: really important to get all like
- 5:14Speaker: the big broad idea and then
- 5:16Speaker: moving it down to the thirty
- 5:18Speaker: days, the to do the sixty days
- 5:20Speaker: and then the thirty days, the to
- 5:22Speaker: do's, you know, your task list
- 5:24Speaker: and it's all broken down like
- 5:26Speaker: that.
- 5:26Speaker: And I think when we have that, it makes it much easier to plan
- 5:30Speaker: and execute those, those promotions or events, everything
- 5:34Speaker: that you need.
- 5:35Speaker: So whether it's an actual event
- 5:38Speaker: or if it's a promotion, it needs
- 5:40Speaker: to be well thought out and well
- 5:42Speaker: planned.
- 5:43Speaker: That other part of your
- 5:44Speaker: question, should you do it once
- 5:46Speaker: and abandon it if it doesn't
- 5:47Speaker: work?
- 5:48Speaker: I don't believe in that.
- 5:49Speaker: Sometimes I, I really, truly feel that it was an.
- 5:52Speaker: It can be a problem with execution.
- 5:55Speaker: It can be.
- 5:56Speaker: So I want you guys to analyze the event or the promotion after
- 6:02Speaker: you ran it, right?
- 6:03Speaker: So look at your data, look and
- 6:06Speaker: see what went well, what didn't,
- 6:08Speaker: and then write those things
- 6:10Speaker: down.
- 6:10Speaker: So if you plan on redoing that event or redoing that promotion
- 6:15Speaker: for next year, what went well and what didn't?
- 6:18Speaker: What else can you do to assure
- 6:20Speaker: that it's going to be better
- 6:21Speaker: next year?
- 6:22Speaker: You know, some things are a bomb.
- 6:25Speaker: You know, like we know that we've had.
- 6:26Speaker: Everybody's had a promotion that just like bombs, you know, but I
- 6:29Speaker: think if you if you really analyze why it bombed, you know,
- 6:33Speaker: or what wasn't done on time, did people not show up?
- 6:37Speaker: So that could mean your
- 6:38Speaker: marketing wasn't really well
- 6:40Speaker: executed or your social media
- 6:42Speaker: strategy or, um, you know, you,
- 6:45Speaker: you didn't do it, you know, in
- 6:47Speaker: advance timing to be able to
- 6:49Speaker: promote it that well, because
- 6:50Speaker: sometimes, as I know, you know,
- 6:53Speaker: everybody like fix restaurants,
- 6:55Speaker: everybody.
- 6:56Speaker: They put together some of the events and then don't train
- 7:00Speaker: their staff on it.
- 7:02Speaker: They could have that promotion.
- 7:04Speaker: And so that thirty that, that, that promotion, uh, life cycle
- 7:10Speaker: of the ninety, the sixty, the thirty days will tell you all
- 7:13Speaker: the things you need to do.
- 7:15Speaker: So nothing falls through the cracks, right?
- 7:17Speaker: We want to make sure our team is
- 7:19Speaker: well prepared that we have what
- 7:21Speaker: and that that team being well
- 7:23Speaker: prepared.
- 7:23Speaker: You can do all of this amazing work, but if your front line
- 7:27Speaker: staff who's interacting with the guest every day is isn't aware
- 7:32Speaker: of it and doesn't know how to talk about it, exactly.
- 7:37Speaker: I'm not going to be successful.
- 7:38Speaker: Right?
- 7:39Speaker: You're not.
- 7:40Speaker: And sometimes they think they've, they've oh, well, I put
- 7:43Speaker: the poster up.
- 7:43Speaker: Everybody should know about it.
- 7:45Speaker: You know, it's like, well, no, you gotta train them, train them
- 7:48Speaker: on how to sell that, how to answer the questions.
- 7:52Speaker: Uh, create a, uh, an FAQ sheet for it for your team members.
- 7:57Speaker: This is this is how you're going to sell it.
- 7:58Speaker: This is the this is the script I want you to use.
- 8:01Speaker: These are the words I want you to use.
- 8:03Speaker: Um, make it exciting.
- 8:04Speaker: Um, have the more buttons, like really get it out there, not
- 8:08Speaker: just a poster in your center or not just a social media post.
- 8:12Speaker: Because I do realize sometimes
- 8:14Speaker: there is a very big, um, gap
- 8:16Speaker: between the marketing and the
- 8:18Speaker: sales teams or even the, the,
- 8:20Speaker: the front house team or back
- 8:21Speaker: house, right?
- 8:22Speaker: Like they don't know what's going on.
- 8:24Speaker: And, um, and you're absolutely correct.
- 8:27Speaker: They all need to be on that same page.
- 8:29Speaker: They all need to be trained on what, what they need to do, what
- 8:32Speaker: they need to, uh, how to promote it, how to sell it.
- 8:36Speaker: Because I think when everybody
- 8:38Speaker: is really focused in on it, that
- 8:40Speaker: promotion should do really well,
- 8:42Speaker: right?
- 8:43Speaker: It's a, it's a unified front, so to speak, that your social, uh,
- 8:48Speaker: channels, your website, your front line staff are all on the
- 8:52Speaker: same page and aware of and providing that same message.
- 8:58Speaker: Absolutely.
- 8:59Speaker: And so, so not only through that
- 9:00Speaker: life cycle, but then like I
- 9:02Speaker: said, after do an analysis, do a
- 9:05Speaker: meeting with everybody on the
- 9:07Speaker: team.
- 9:07Speaker: Hey, how do you guys think that this went, you know, pull your
- 9:10Speaker: data, pull the how many, how many people came out?
- 9:14Speaker: Um, how many if it's RSV, how many people RSVP'd for it?
- 9:19Speaker: Um, just check and see what happened.
- 9:21Speaker: That went really well and what fell through the cracks.
- 9:24Speaker: What can be done better for next time?
- 9:27Speaker: Perfect, perfect.
- 9:29Speaker: So looking ahead to the big, big
- 9:32Speaker: thing, which is from
- 9:34Speaker: Thanksgiving to January second,
- 9:37Speaker: right?
- 9:38Speaker: That's our next huge opportunity to bring more people in.
- 9:42Speaker: And of course, that's with group
- 9:44Speaker: sales between your company
- 9:46Speaker: holiday parties, uh, to even
- 9:49Speaker: family gatherings, uh, that,
- 9:52Speaker: that, that's an opportunity for
- 9:53Speaker: group sales.
- 9:54Speaker: So if you did not do a Christmas in July, that is an opportunity
- 10:02Speaker: to kick start those holiday group event sales.
- 10:05Speaker: It's not too late, right?
- 10:08Speaker: Absolutely not.
- 10:09Speaker: Um, you know, there's a taste of
- 10:12Speaker: the holidays and, and I, I do, I
- 10:14Speaker: have clients doing it that
- 10:16Speaker: aren't even doing the, the
- 10:17Speaker: actual event.
- 10:18Speaker: They're doing a promotion, right?
- 10:20Speaker: So like if you, if you book the
- 10:22Speaker: event by a certain date, they
- 10:24Speaker: get an extra platter or, you
- 10:27Speaker: know, think of that promotion as
- 10:29Speaker: a value add on that you can give
- 10:31Speaker: your customers.
- 10:32Speaker: And you know, it necessarily doesn't have to be a discounted
- 10:36Speaker: rate, but anything that can add value to their event.
- 10:40Speaker: Um, so you can do a taste of the holidays, uh, promotion, you
- 10:45Speaker: could do it as an event, invite the community to come out,
- 10:49Speaker: invite all those businesses.
- 10:51Speaker: You know, partnerships are really, really important this
- 10:53Speaker: time of year.
- 10:54Speaker: So, you know, partner with your
- 10:56Speaker: local chamber or any kind of
- 10:58Speaker: other business community that
- 10:59Speaker: can come out and tour the
- 11:01Speaker: facility.
- 11:02Speaker: This is our packages.
- 11:03Speaker: Show them what it is that you
- 11:04Speaker: have to offer for, for those
- 11:06Speaker: holiday corporate events or team
- 11:08Speaker: building celebrations.
- 11:10Speaker: We had a great year.
- 11:11Speaker: Let's celebrate.
- 11:12Speaker: You know, so I think all of
- 11:14Speaker: those things are going to be
- 11:15Speaker: really crucial for that last
- 11:18Speaker: push.
- 11:19Speaker: And they if they didn't do
- 11:22Speaker: Christmas in July, there's still
- 11:24Speaker: time.
- 11:24Speaker: Do one.
- 11:25Speaker: I've had clients who have done it multiple times because they
- 11:29Speaker: did really well the first time that they did it in September.
- 11:31Speaker: So then they're doing another one in October.
- 11:34Speaker: Even if you get five, ten
- 11:36Speaker: businesses to come out to tour
- 11:37Speaker: the facility, that's a win win
- 11:39Speaker: for you.
- 11:41Speaker: Absolutely.
- 11:41Speaker: And it doesn't have to be necessarily a, we're hosting
- 11:45Speaker: this event and inviting people to come to it.
- 11:48Speaker: It can just be a promotion that you're running.
- 11:51Speaker: Yes, absolutely.
- 11:53Speaker: And again, plan that out just like you're doing the promotion,
- 11:56Speaker: the event, make sure that you have, you know, your team on
- 12:00Speaker: board, how you're going to sell it when you have that, if you're
- 12:03Speaker: going to have the actual event, make sure that all of those
- 12:06Speaker: parts of that event are on there because you're trying to promote
- 12:10Speaker: your, your, let's say, if you have your VIP lounge or you're
- 12:13Speaker: trying to promote, if you have bowling, it's bowling in the
- 12:16Speaker: lanes or the VIP bowling area or, you know, the birthday party
- 12:21Speaker: rooms, like make it look like how you're going to be able to
- 12:25Speaker: facilitate it for them so that they could visualize it.
- 12:28Speaker: Right?
- 12:28Speaker: Make sure you have a signature
- 12:30Speaker: cocktail, something fun for the
- 12:32Speaker: holidays.
- 12:33Speaker: Um, decorate the room that way.
- 12:35Speaker: Not only that, have your brochures ready, have that
- 12:37Speaker: promotion in stock.
- 12:39Speaker: Make sure that whoever's working
- 12:41Speaker: that event again has been
- 12:43Speaker: trained to know how to sell it,
- 12:44Speaker: how to promote it, how to walk
- 12:46Speaker: them around.
- 12:47Speaker: If somebody else's busy, maybe even a slide show, um, put that
- 12:51Speaker: on your on your signage throughout the center.
- 12:54Speaker: If you have, you know, the TVs over the lanes, put that on
- 12:57Speaker: there as well.
- 12:58Speaker: Um, so I, I think that there's a lot that you can do with that,
- 13:01Speaker: but if you don't wind up having it as a tour or an event, do it
- 13:05Speaker: as a promotion, start getting that data out to, you know, your
- 13:10Speaker: marketing, social media, all of that and something else on that
- 13:15Speaker: line that I love.
- 13:17Speaker: I never would have thought about this.
- 13:18Speaker: And, and you're like bringing these ideas to the table that I
- 13:22Speaker: want you to share with folks the notion of, you know, Black
- 13:27Speaker: Friday is a day in which people think about, I'm going to get
- 13:31Speaker: that TV or I'm going to get those big ticket items.
- 13:36Speaker: Why aren't we offering gift cards or, or some kind of a
- 13:41Speaker: Black Friday promotion for our locations as well?
- 13:46Speaker: Absolutely.
- 13:47Speaker: This is the best time of year to sell those gift cards.
- 13:50Speaker: Um, people want to go out and have a great time, right?
- 13:53Speaker: So after a while, like, what do you get somebody?
- 13:56Speaker: I don't want to get them the same boring gift anymore.
- 13:59Speaker: You know, I want my family to go out and have a good time here.
- 14:02Speaker: Here's a fifty dollars gift card
- 14:03Speaker: or one hundred dollars gift
- 14:05Speaker: card.
- 14:05Speaker: Have it be a promotion where if
- 14:07Speaker: they buy more than one gift
- 14:08Speaker: card, you know, they get a gift
- 14:10Speaker: card for themselves to come
- 14:12Speaker: back.
- 14:12Speaker: So that, that you're also incentivizing them coming in.
- 14:16Speaker: It could be a free drink or a free extra game, uh, if you have
- 14:21Speaker: some kind of arcade on there.
- 14:22Speaker: So making sure that we have
- 14:24Speaker: those, um, those gift cards set
- 14:27Speaker: up.
- 14:27Speaker: If your center has any kind of membership, you know, that's
- 14:31Speaker: also a big one.
- 14:32Speaker: Start selling those memberships for your Christmas, um, making
- 14:37Speaker: sure that we're doing upsells, whether it's on Facebook, social
- 14:40Speaker: media, Instagram, like have those little contests.
- 14:43Speaker: There's a lot to be done that that last push.
- 14:47Speaker: And if they haven't, uh, really thought about what to do yet.
- 14:52Speaker: Look on our On Our reach calendar.
- 14:54Speaker: We've got a bunch of ideas on there.
- 14:56Speaker: You know as well.
- 14:57Speaker: Um, so I would take a look and see what your your FEC offers.
- 15:04Speaker: Do you offer any kind of discounts?
- 15:06Speaker: Do you offer memberships?
- 15:07Speaker: Do you offer.
- 15:08Speaker: Do you have, you know, the, the gift cards to sell if you don't
- 15:11Speaker: have gift cards to sell, that's a very easy thing to do.
- 15:15Speaker: Um, you could also just sell an actual printed card, you know,
- 15:18Speaker: that they bring back.
- 15:19Speaker: So there's a million ways to do that.
- 15:22Speaker: Um, and, and I love that you
- 15:24Speaker: brought up, uh, you know, we
- 15:26Speaker: don't often do sort of the, the
- 15:28Speaker: commercial part in this space,
- 15:29Speaker: but there are, we do have some
- 15:32Speaker: resources here at Train
- 15:33Speaker: entertainment to help with the
- 15:35Speaker: marketing promotions and that
- 15:37Speaker: reach calendar.
- 15:38Speaker: Can you talk about that just briefly?
- 15:40Speaker: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:41Speaker: So so we put together the, uh, reach calendar every year that
- 15:45Speaker: has every month.
- 15:46Speaker: And, you know, all those fun,
- 15:48Speaker: little quirky holidays that are
- 15:49Speaker: in there and then has little
- 15:51Speaker: marketing tips and ideas for
- 15:52Speaker: each of those and how to promote
- 15:54Speaker: it.
- 15:55Speaker: Um, so this, this coming one for twenty twenty six, we've got a
- 15:59Speaker: lot of stuff on there.
- 16:00Speaker: The, the ultimate sales planner as well.
- 16:02Speaker: That one's been redesigned.
- 16:04Speaker: So there's a lot of new things
- 16:05Speaker: on there that I think people in
- 16:08Speaker: general, they're really going to
- 16:09Speaker: love all of those planning tools
- 16:11Speaker: on there and just really get
- 16:13Speaker: started early.
- 16:14Speaker: And again, it isn't a push for you guys to buy it, but it is
- 16:18Speaker: something to think about.
- 16:19Speaker: So if you want to create it on your own, that's totally fine.
- 16:23Speaker: The issue is, is that you don't know what you don't know.
- 16:27Speaker: And so you forget about things and then you go, oh, wow, I
- 16:30Speaker: should have thought about that.
- 16:31Speaker: So we do try to make it easier for folks because we have
- 16:35Speaker: thought about it.
- 16:35Speaker: We've got twenty years experience in it.
- 16:38Speaker: So yeah, absolutely.
- 16:41Speaker: Vivian.
- 16:41Speaker: If people have questions, I want to direct them to the guru.
- 16:45Speaker: So how can people get Ahold of you?
- 16:47Speaker: They could get Ahold of me on my well through email.
- 16:51Speaker: That could drop me a short note on their Vivian at entertainment
- 16:54Speaker: dot net or the Growth pro group that that really, you know, this
- 16:59Speaker: is our twentieth anniversary and the growth pro we have, um, I
- 17:04Speaker: can't wait for all of these great things that are coming
- 17:07Speaker: out, coming out of the growth pro group this year.
- 17:09Speaker: So yeah, absolutely.
- 17:11Speaker: Well, as always, Vivian, you
- 17:13Speaker: have given us a laundry list of
- 17:15Speaker: things to get started doing,
- 17:17Speaker: right?
- 17:18Speaker: Um, think about doing, if not an event for taste of the holidays.
- 17:22Speaker: Definitely promotion and get started with that promotion.
- 17:25Speaker: Um, that promotion doesn't
- 17:27Speaker: necessarily have to be fifty

- 18:09Speaker: It's their entire team, right?
- 18:11Speaker: That's right.
- 18:11Speaker: Yes.
- 18:12Speaker: The sales team can go out.
- 18:13Speaker: They should go out in person.
- 18:15Speaker: If possible, drop them drop off
- 18:16Speaker: flyers, talk to them, drop off a
- 18:18Speaker: cookie, whatever it is, you know
- 18:20Speaker: your cookie drops, but your your
- 18:22Speaker: entire team, you know, get
- 18:24Speaker: everybody on board with what
- 18:25Speaker: you're doing.
- 18:26Speaker: That's right, that's right.
- 18:28Speaker: And, and have that coordinated message across not only every
- 18:31Speaker: platform, but with every person in your center that we're all
