Latest / The Lunch Rush with Trent Condon / Weekend Recap, Bill Seals talks Cyclones
Transcript
- 0:07Alright, good afternoon. Welcome Miller and Condon on a
- 0:10Tuesday, the Iowa Sports Radio Network Trenton Ken for the next
- 0:14couple of hours to talk sports with you.
- 0:16Appreciate you starting your afternoon with us and trust
- 0:18everybody had a wonderful a long weekend.
- 0:21Certainly the weather cooperated and people were able to get
- 0:23outside and get some stuff done. A good program coming up today.
- 0:27Hopefully we won't blow it. We will talk to Bill Seals at
- 0:30the bottom of our #1. Milan Manchilovich has until
- 0:3411:59 tomorrow night to make his intentions known, whether he's
- 0:39going to stay in the NBA draft or go back to school.
- 0:43And then the question becomes what school?
- 0:45So we'll talk to Bill Seals about that amongst other Cyclone
- 0:49topics. Coming up at 12:30.
- 0:51One O clock or two to be precise.
- 0:53Matt Snyder from CBSSports.com, our National Baseball guy who
- 0:57joins us every week. He will join us, talk a little
- 1:00MLB as the Cubs continue their swoon.
- 1:03Haven't won since White Sox bride laid the hammer down and
- 1:07drop the curse on this edition of the Cubs.
- 1:10So we'll talk to Matt Snyder about all things baseball at
- 1:121:02 and then Scott Dockerman back from the Big 10 meetings in
- 1:16LA. We'll put a bow on those with
- 1:18Doc coming up at 1:30. Trent will make some picks at
- 1:20about, oh, 10 minutes or so before, too.
- 1:23And then we'll turn things over to off the bench.
- 1:25How was your weekend? Painful.
- 1:27Still, yeah. Yeah, it has not.
- 1:31Not going swimmingly. Age sucks and got the cortisone
- 1:36shot on Friday, so we had a double dip on Friday.
- 1:39Thursday evening we had softball, my daughter's softball
- 1:42team, a rec team. And so I got it out, coaching
- 1:45first base it over there and feeling it.
- 1:48But I already had my appointment set up.
- 1:49So went over to Capital Orthopedic and in the interim,
- 1:52while Ella was playing softball, Jack was over at the new
- 1:55playground equipment. OK, yeah.
- 1:57And fell off it. Was going to say I know where
- 1:58this is going. Laid it on his wrist.
- 2:00Well I already had my appointment set up so I made a
- 2:03call Friday morning. Hey can you also check my son so
- 2:06dad got X? Rays you have to pay 2 copays.
- 2:09Yes we did. Had to pay both of those books
- 2:11and both had to get X-rays. I'm not still calling capital,
- 2:14I'm calling the whole medical industry.
- 2:17Both X-rays, torn labrum for me, broken wrist for Jack.
- 2:21Jesus and the Condon boys are the girls.
- 2:23Girls are great so far. They got everything figured out.
- 2:26Yeah, they got. It comes in threes, just to let
- 2:28you know. Oh great, one more cup and
- 2:30that's what you're saying? I hope not.
- 2:32Yes. Well.
- 2:33Good to see you here. Yes, happy to be here.
- 2:35On Friday and hopefully Jack is on the mend so this will take
- 2:37him on a baseball. So he has a it's called a buckle
- 2:41fracture. So it didn't breakthrough the
- 2:44skin. It didn't do anything where the
- 2:46bone is displaced. It's basically it looks like a
- 2:49buckle just on top of the bone. And he's in a soft cast.
- 2:53So couple of weeks he's going to go back.
- 2:55Hopefully at that point things are starting to heal and he's
- 2:57going to be OK. But today I was over at the
- 3:00school. It's field day.
- 3:01Do you guys have field day growing up?
- 3:03Oh. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:04Huge deal. Yeah, fun day.
- 3:06And when you tell a kindergartner?
- 3:07You can't participate. Yeah, that's not going to go.
- 3:09Well, it was tough. Yeah, it was tough.
- 3:11Now, he was still doing some things and was able and they had
- 3:14one of the teachers up in the dunk tank and he was throwing
- 3:15the ball and tried to knock her down and doing those kind of
- 3:18things. But yeah, that was tough on the
- 3:20little guy. I told him no wrestling for a
- 3:21couple of weeks, no baseball for a couple of weeks.
- 3:24When you're 6, it's pretty impactful.
- 3:26Absolutely. I get it.
- 3:28I get it. Well, hopefully you're both on
- 3:30the mend and things will work out in the end.
- 3:33They did not work out well for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
- 3:35What a choke job. What?
- 3:36Not a choke job. What a quit.
- 3:38Just just a pure unadulterated where our season's over and it
- 3:42showed last night. They never even I was going to
- 3:45say they didn't try. I'm not sure that how much they
- 3:47tried. He don't go into a elimination
- 3:50game. Your season's on the line and
- 3:52that's the effort or lack of. So my question to you is,
- 3:55regardless who comes out of the West, I'm not so sure it's the
- 3:58layup we thought it was going to be.
- 4:00Knicks are getting all of this rest.
- 4:02Spurs would have to play a ton of basketball.
- 4:04OK, CS got some injuries in their own right.
- 4:07SGA one of these one of these series.
- 4:10The referees aren't going to, you know what, we're going to
- 4:12call this evenly, so we're not going to just defer to him.
- 4:17But did you see the foul of the foul of the.
- 4:18I mean, I'm not sure which guy was never even touched him on
- 4:21the Spurs and he goes down and he gets a.
- 4:23Three, it was Fox that was I. Think it wasn't Fox?
- 4:25Yeah. It was just just ridiculous.
- 4:27It was. They didn't.
- 4:28Feet didn't collide. And if they did, they brushed.
- 4:31But. But I'm not so sure that the
- 4:33Knicks, it's a foregone conclusion that the West is
- 4:35going to win. Am I nuts?
- 4:36I don't think so at all. We have seen a couple of teams
- 4:40that have had this kind of winning streak in the NBA
- 4:42playoffs, 99 Spurs, and I think it was the O 7 Warriors that had
- 4:47a winning streak like this, but they weren't winning like this.
- 4:50And I get it, this is depleted. It's not very good.
- 4:53OK, that's all well and good, but the pure domination we're
- 4:56seeing from this next it is they're deep.
- 5:01They can beat you a bunch of different ways.
- 5:03Cats playing his best basketball maybe of his career.
- 5:06And it's never been a talent thing with Karl Anthony.
- 5:08Talent never has been about talent.
- 5:10It's been about between the years and.
- 5:13By the way, have you been playing those rebound props of
- 5:16his on a daily basis? Because I think he's gone over
- 5:18most of them hasn't. He, yeah, he's been a man
- 5:20possessed out there, this whole team that looked to be good and
- 5:24maybe they can win the East, but that was it now.
- 5:28I give him a chance, Trent, I absolutely give him a chance.
- 5:30And you couple it with what you said, whoever comes out of OK C
- 5:36San Antonio, this is a gauntlet. I mean, these teams are
- 5:41clutching and grabbing and fighting and the injury concerns
- 5:44now with the Thunder, with Williams assert again, just on
- 5:47and on and on. Yes, the Knicks are absolutely
- 5:50live here. And if you would have told me
- 5:51that even two weeks ago, yeah, No.
- 5:53Shot I think we did talk about it two weeks ago and didn't
- 5:55think there was a chance that this thing was going to be good,
- 5:58but I do I'm I'm with you. The injuries of OK C Spurs are a
- 6:02tough team. I would be shocked if we don't
- 6:04get if we're not literally a best of three that goes three.
- 6:07I will be stunned if anybody wins the next two games.
- 6:10Probably OK C tonight, but I'm not convinced the number it says
- 6:13the number says it's going to be a tight game.
- 6:15What's it like 4 1/2 five? It's a small number back in
- 6:19Oklahoma City, so that's where I'll be tonight.
- 6:22And I wouldn't have said this very often when the NHL and the
- 6:24NBA are going head to head, but this Colorado Avalanche team,
- 6:28they kind of remind me of Cleveland Cavaliers.
- 6:29My God, look, I thought the Colorado, it was not a phony,
- 6:34not a fraud, but I didn't think that they were Cup worthy.
- 6:37I thought the Wild would be the team that dominated it and they
- 6:40didn't. Obviously the ABS had their way
- 6:43with them, but this Vegas Golden Knights team, they are, they're
- 6:46just a hockey team. They're going to be tough to
- 6:49beat. Trent, I don't care who comes
- 6:50out of the East. Carolina felt like throughout,
- 6:55Obviously this was the first two series so that helps, but
- 6:57definitely felt like the class and Colorado the same.
- 7:00How do you get up 3 nothing and just blow it like that?
- 7:02Exactly. Lose 5. 3 So I took a peek at
- 7:04the live line when it was 3 Nothing.
- 7:06Oh, did you? You get the Golden Knights.
- 7:08I think it was a little bit better than 9 to 1.
- 7:10Really. After it was 3 to 1, I looked
- 7:13again and. What?
- 7:13What? It dropped to 2.
- 7:15Plus 245. Jeez, they're still up two.
- 7:17Yeah. And to lose in that fashion, we
- 7:21talk about devastating. Now hockey is the one sport more
- 7:24than any of the other major sports that play series that we
- 7:27do see comebacks. It's happened 4 times.
- 7:28Do you remember? Do you remember any of the three
- 7:31nothing deficits that have been raised?
- 7:33Colorado was on the losing end of 1.
- 7:36I have them here let me scroll through because I have them by
- 7:39my knees. I.
- 7:40Think. There's been 2 that are semi
- 7:42recent that has happened. All right, here it is.
- 7:43Four teams now. You don't remember the 1942
- 7:46maybe? No, no, I don't remember that
- 7:48one. The 75 Islanders.
- 7:50So who are they down to? Not sure, just have the list. 75
- 7:55Well, they beat Edmonton with before Gretzky became Gretzky,
- 7:58but that was late 70s into the I don't, I don't know who that
- 8:02would have been against. OK, so 2.
- 8:03Within the last 16 years, OK, the 2010 Flyers and the 2014
- 8:09Kings, those are the two times recently that it it has
- 8:13happened. So it can happen, I guess in
- 8:15hockey more than other sports. I don't see it happening.
- 8:18Nathan Mckinnon's hurt, yes. Makar is not 100, not close to
- 8:22100%, and those are the two best players by a mile.
- 8:25But we'll see. We'll see if they can find a way
- 8:27to win one. If not, we'll get game six in a
- 8:30standalone spot for the NBA between OKC and San Antonio on
- 8:35Thursday night. And I hope the tonight's game is
- 8:38a is a good game on the hardwood.
- 8:39I really do. I want to see this basketball
- 8:41game tonight. I think San Antonio is such a
- 8:43fun team to watch OKC the both. Neither one of these teams are
- 8:47going away anytime soon. OK, CS all got got all of these
- 8:50first round picks. They're rumored to be packaging
- 8:53put them together, try and get Boozer, which makes some sense.
- 8:57There's also some chatter out there about Chet Holgren.
- 9:02He's soft. He has scored not much in this
- 9:06series, he doesn't feel like he's a very good match up
- 9:09against Victor and. You would think that being and
- 9:11they need him to be Trent. If it makes sense.
- 9:15You see seven, one, 107 foot. 71 yeah, it makes sense, Giannis,
- 9:23go that direction. You bring some physicality to
- 9:26that defence against Victor. I've heard crazier theories and
- 9:32how quickly things can change because all of a sudden it goes
- 9:34from last year and throughout most of the season.
- 9:37Thunder are going to be dominating for the next 6-8, ten
- 9:40years and now you see this behemoth that is building in San
- 9:44Antonio and suddenly you go. Young group, too.
- 9:48Everybody has to kind of adapt to you now.
- 9:51You have to adapt to them. Wow.
- 9:53And even if the Thunder get by this playoff series, win another
- 9:55championship, that's still got to be in the back of their
- 9:57minds, right? No.
- 9:58Absolutely trying, I like that idea.
- 10:00With all the flexibility that they have, with all the
- 10:02advantages that they have, the young guys that they got, Lou
- 10:05Dort, he's not going to be there much longer.
- 10:07You know, there, there's going to be pieces that move.
- 10:09But it's going to be now going forward, not about, well, who's
- 10:12going to be able to catch us. I think it's going to be how are
- 10:15we going to be able to beat San Antonio for the next half
- 10:17decade? How?
- 10:18Quickly, how would you like to be a fan of a team in the West
- 10:20with no looking at those two and looking at their that they're
- 10:24nowhere near the expiration date?
- 10:26Well, and the Timberwolves are a great.
- 10:27Example of that was the team I was thinking of, yes.
- 10:30You have a team back to basketball Western Conference
- 10:32finals slap went six with two guys banged up in this one.
- 10:36Ant was not himself and yet you look up and you say those teams
- 10:40are only getting better right? What are we going to do?
- 10:42How do you retool that roster? Julius Randall another no show
- 10:46in the playoffs. Ant how much more can he ask out
- 10:49of him? It feels like is there another
- 10:51level to him? Hard to envision I.
- 10:54Think we've seen it, right? Much more.
- 10:56That was really good, right? It's great, but what else can
- 10:59you do when you look at that environment and what Wendy is
- 11:03this dude that half quarter did, did you think it was going in?
- 11:07No, I did. You did.
- 11:09As he is hoisting and I see SGA gonna fall to the side.
- 11:13Not even gonna contest it. Yeah.
- 11:14It's a half court shot from 7 foot four guy.
- 11:16And it just, it was that feeling he's gonna hit this too.
- 11:20And he does. He is so incredible.
- 11:23He is so fun to watch. He is also so thoughtful and
- 11:28getting. Honestly, this is the first time
- 11:30I've really listened to Wimpy during this playoff run.
- 11:33Is there are times that he'll ask the reporter speaking in
- 11:38English to maybe take it, take it a step further because he
- 11:42really wants to answer in his most truthful way of what he's
- 11:45thinking. He's not shy.
- 11:48He's got an incredible ability, I think, to connect with people.
- 11:51He has so much fun. I I just SGA I've never been a
- 11:55fan. Yeah, me neither.
- 11:56Just he's never been no he. Doesn't need to play that.
- 11:59Way, no. The James Harden stuff, yeah,
- 12:00bugged me. Talked about that for years and
- 12:02years. This guy, there's something
- 12:04different about him and I hope 7 foot 4 gangly, you always have
- 12:09those concerns, but if we can get this guy, watching him play
- 12:12for the next 1012 years. If you go back and you look at
- 12:15him when he was a rookie in the league to where he's at now and
- 12:18he's, he's not thick by any means, but he's thicker, right?
- 12:21I mean, he's bigger now by significant amounts from when he
- 12:25broke into the league. Fun game tonight.
- 12:26Can't wait to watch it. That's got to be a 7:00 tip,
- 12:30right? It is so we do get a little
- 12:32What's up with last night? No stagger.
- 12:34Both the hockey and NBA start at the same time.
- 12:36I saw this on Twitter and I couldn't and I I should have
- 12:38looked. I've read that once we get to
- 12:43the final that the NBA and the NHL play on the same night with
- 12:49the exception of game four. What is the NHL doing?
- 12:53That is. This is the NHL that has to get
- 12:56out of the way. It's the NBA.
- 12:57It's the United States. It's a basketball country.
- 13:01It's not a hockey country. Do what you have to do to get
- 13:05off of those dates. 2026 Stanley Cup Final TA TBD locations.
- 13:12But it does have the dates, does it not?
- 13:14The wiki does not have it up, let's see if I can find it.
- 13:17Maybe somewhere else is nhl.com. Game one of the NBA final I want
- 13:22to say is next Wednesday or Tuesday or Wednesday.
- 13:26Wednesday, June the 3rd is game one.
- 13:31The 2026 Stanley Cup Final is scheduled to begin on.
- 13:34Wednesday, June 3rd. What is going?
- 13:36On and when's Game 2? I would guess the next.
- 13:41Two days later, June 5th, then same as the NBA.
- 13:46What are they doing? What are they doing?
- 13:49I I'm baffled. I cannot wrap my mind around.
- 13:51This it it. And you know what?
- 13:53It hasn't been the case for the last, I don't know, long time.
- 13:56Long time, yes, but they're gonna go head to head with the
- 13:59NBAI don't care if this is television Partners, put your
- 14:02damn foot down. The last thing you need.
- 14:04Look, the NHL playoffs have been dominating.
- 14:06Let's be. Honest.
- 14:07Yes. Yeah.
- 14:08They really have. Now, I get it.
- 14:09You're not gonna watch 'cause you don't like hockey and you
- 14:11love the you don't love the NBA, but you know the game of
- 14:13basketball, right? But this is if there has ever
- 14:16been a case for you to at least dip your toe in the NHL waters.
- 14:20This, the playoffs, has been fascinating from the time they
- 14:22dropped the buck in the middle of April.
- 14:24And now you're going to put up against the Knicks and OK C or
- 14:28the Knicks and Victor Wimbenyama.
- 14:30What are you thinking? You're going to get killed?
- 14:34I'm baffled, stunned. Just a stunning just a stunning
- 14:38revelation. You had another one for Gary
- 14:39Bettman, huh? Yeah.
- 14:40Unbelievable. All right, so what's wrong with
- 14:42the Cubs? They can't hit.
- 14:44Now that's one of the problems. They cannot hit at all.
- 14:47And it's, it's their big gun. Here's this one from Ian Hap,
- 14:52who's just absolutely in as bad of a place right now.
- 14:56I want to find his. Here's his last 30 games.
- 14:59I'll do his last 15. His last 15 games, he's 6 for
- 15:0215. He's batting a Buck 1527
- 15:06strikeouts. His last 30 games, he's batting
- 15:08a buck 8745 strikeouts. Ronniers were scoring position
- 15:13this year. He's batting $1.43.
- 15:16What is wrong with Ian App? What is wrong with Dansby
- 15:19Swanson? What is wrong with PCA?
- 15:22What is right? You can keep going down the
- 15:23list. They cannot get anybody home,
- 15:26they cannot hit. They're pitching.
- 15:29God bless them. They're giving them all they
- 15:30can. But if you can't score a run,
- 15:32you're not going to win very many games.
- 15:33So I found this one from Jesse Rogers during this nine game
- 15:38losing streak, they are 35 for 1:48 with runners in scoring
- 15:43position. That's a paltry 190 batting
- 15:45average with runners. That is 29th in baseball.
- 15:50Two chances yesterday that they did not get.
- 15:53And yeah, just looking through last 15 days.
- 15:56Got this up on cubs.com. This is what we got.
- 15:59Lean the way over the last two weeks.
- 16:01Alex Bregman, Batten 3O2 OK. All right, Next up with nine
- 16:05hits would be Michael Bush. He's also batting 205.
- 16:09Yeah. Couple of those hits have been
- 16:11home runs, but Yep. Nico Horner batting 170 PCA
- 16:14batting 143 Suzuki 128 Ian Hap 128 Dansby Swanson 132 By
- 16:21Esteros 158 How about a little comforto?
- 16:25What 11? 10.
- 16:28It's unbelievable. That's you mean you can't make
- 16:30those numbers up? Is there an issue?
- 16:33With Council. I was going to get there.
- 16:38I was going to start though the guy pick at the groceries, not
- 16:41the guy doing the cooking. Look through what they've done,
- 16:47free agency and the guys that they have brought in.
- 16:52I like the Bregman hire signing. I wish we would have signed him
- 16:55last year when he went to Boston.
- 16:59Dansby Swanson. How long has he been there since
- 17:02she been there? Three or four years now.
- 17:04I you know what, I got to be fair to the.
- 17:06He's a good defender. He's a great defender and I love
- 17:08the I love the signing. When they got him from Atlanta,
- 17:10I loved it, thought that this is exactly what they needed.
- 17:13And again, he's a great defender, but he's just totally
- 17:16lost at the play. But he's not alone.
- 17:18No. He's not alone.
- 17:19So you have to do something. You can't fire the players.
- 17:21You know who usually pays the price?
- 17:23Well, a first base coach like that's going to change.
- 17:27But it's usually, I mean, is, is council on board time?
- 17:32I, I can't wait to talk to Kathy tomorrow and he's going to join
- 17:34us on Wednesday, which he normally does, but I've asked
- 17:37him to move to Thursdays. But I'm working tomorrow, so I'm
- 17:41off Thursday. I I is Is council's seat getting
- 17:45hot or should it be? I don't have a good response to
- 17:48that. And you?
- 17:49And if so, do you put your tailbot between your legs?
- 17:51Say, Rossi, can you come back? Because the reason that I
- 17:55brought up the front office and the way that the.
- 17:57Employer and company, yeah. Put this thing together is how
- 18:01many hitting coaches have they gone through the last 7-8 years?
- 18:03Yeah. Don't recall the best, yeah.
- 18:05Probably half dozen. Probably.
- 18:06Certainly some, yeah. We've had a multitude of
- 18:08managers and yet time in and time out, these signings at
- 18:12least offensively not been very good and that's where maybe I
- 18:16would point. And the starting pitching too.
- 18:18I mean, they've just been absolutely killed.
- 18:20By injuries, right? Just killed and it's finally
- 18:23catching. Up it is, I mean, Justin Steele
- 18:25and Kate Horton, these were going to be two guys at the top
- 18:28of your rotation and Bing bang, they go down.
- 18:30Obviously still still down from last year.
- 18:33He's keeps getting pushed back further and further.
- 18:36We'll see where it goes, but my God, when Ben Brown is Ben
- 18:40Brown, I like Ben Brown. Don't like it was an ace.
- 18:43You don't want him to be your number one.
- 18:45Right. And is he almost that now?
- 18:48Yeah, I think so. I mean.
- 18:50Imanog has been OK. They didn't expect him to be the
- 18:53guy by any me. Cabrera has now gone down with a
- 18:56with a blister on his thumb. Kathy didn't think it was a big
- 18:59deal a couple of weeks ago or last time we spoke.
- 19:02Colin Rays, you're what, 3 or 4 at this point?
- 19:05I love his story. And he should be on a good team.
- 19:08He's a number 5 or. 6. Yeah, yeah, A spot starter.
- 19:11Yes. He's your swing guy.
- 19:12If you have that, you're in really good shape.
- 19:14Hmm. Well, here's a really good
- 19:15tweet. This is a good one.
- 19:17Dansby Swanson is the new Jason Hayward.
- 19:19Yeah, every Jason, although he doesn't ground into two as many
- 19:23double plays to the second baseman.
- 19:25My God, rolling over. I have time after time after.
- 19:29Time here it is double play or roll it up 463 double play
- 19:34every. Well, go to the top of the next
- 19:36inning comes Trail. One thing that I noticed
- 19:38yesterday, and I got in about the 7th inning I think is when I
- 19:41checked in yesterday is they just look defeated even at the
- 19:45plate, like they just went up there.
- 19:47No swagger, no confidence. This isn't something you can
- 19:50measure just watching. PCA getting picked off stealing
- 19:53bases, yeah. It just there's so much of that
- 19:57and baseball's funky and it's a long season and everybody has a
- 20:00lull. This does feel but the.
- 20:02Whole team's having their lull right now.
- 20:04Yes, for T that's had 210 game-winning.
- 20:06Streaks. That's hard to believe, isn't
- 20:08it? And now it's hard to fathom.
- 20:10Staring at A10 game losing streak in the face.
- 20:12Who goes tonight? You know what, I should have
- 20:13looked at this. What is the pitching match?
- 20:16Oh, Jordan Wicks got the call up after putting up a 4.44 ERA with
- 20:21AAA Iowa. He'll get the ball opposite
- 20:24Ashcraft. He's been pretty good.
- 20:26Has he? Yeah, I know they missed skis.
- 20:28I think that maybe they think it's skis.
- 20:29It's a four-game series. Skates pitched in Toronto over
- 20:33the weekend. He's pitching Thursday, the
- 20:36getaway game. Yeah, 5:40 Because I know the
- 20:37Twins play the Pirates and they miss skins.
- 20:39Do they? I wouldn't talk about the
- 20:41playoff bound Minnesota Twins if the playoffs started today.
- 20:45Yeah, but they ran into those red hot White Sox.
- 20:48The White Sox and the Twins would be playoffs.
- 20:50That's wild, isn't it? That's an indictment of the
- 20:52American. It really and truly is.
- 20:54It truly is. Both watching that yesterday,
- 20:56Both those teams are not good. They're not good.
- 20:58Is that what you watch? Yeah, why would you subject
- 21:01yourself I? Know twins, man.
- 21:02Yeah, yeah. By the way, I met a buddy of
- 21:04yours yesterday. No, I did.
- 21:07This sounds terrible. Is going.
- 21:09To be a disaster. I want to find out his I wrote
- 21:12his name because it's obviously not his real name.
- 21:15Club Sporto. Sporto, Sporto.
- 21:18I haven't seen Sporto in I. Remember there was a time you
- 21:22talked about Sporto because I remembered his name.
- 21:25Sporto plays the horses. Sporto likes to wager.
- 21:28Sporto just moved up in my book, yes.
- 21:30He's not only fired on Prairie Meadows, but he's got his Santa
- 21:32Anita racing for him. Open to Santa Anita is playing a
- 21:35race on the ground. Yeah, he and his buddy, I think
- 21:37his name is, doesn't met so many people this weekend.
- 21:39That's awesome. It really is.
- 21:41I had to. I should have got out more in my
- 21:4230 years, but yeah, it's Club Sporto.
- 21:46Sporto, Hi. Yeah, well, Sporto's listening
- 21:50heavy up, Sporto. It's been too long and maybe we
- 21:53need to go out there and visit Ken sometime and fire at some
- 21:55horses coming up this summer. You're having a blast out.
- 21:58There I am. I'm having a really good time
- 22:00and the crowds have been unbelievable at the at the track
- 22:02so far this year. We're UPS.
- 22:04I mean the handles is just unbel.
- 22:05It's up over 50%. It's doing great.
- 22:08So anyways, we'll be back at it on Friday.
- 22:11We're going to talk to Bill Seals, Cyclone topics coming up
- 22:15here at at the bottom of our number one, look forward to
- 22:19catching up with Bill Seals. I don't think Manchilovich is
- 22:22coming back to Iowa State. I want to put that out there
- 22:25right now, but I don't mean you're going to ask him.
- 22:26I mean, there's no scholarship. And if you follow some of those
- 22:30burner accounts on Twitter? Yeah, are they?
- 22:32They're commits, are they, that he's coming back to Ames?
- 22:35Oh, they're finding money all over the place, so.
- 22:37What is he going to get on the open market?
- 22:39Have you seen is he a $5,000,000 is?
- 22:42I think a minimum. At minimum, so you think, what
- 22:44do you what do you have to find in the couch cushions to make
- 22:47Munchilovich whole as far as you can get X from Kentucky?
- 22:51Can you? Can you match?
- 22:53XI don't think Iowa State could match them.
- 22:54OK. But could they get close and the
- 22:57comfortable? Factor if they get close right.
- 23:00If it is five, can they get 3? If it's seven, can they get 4?
- 23:05Even that, Is he just ready for something different too?
- 23:08Yeah. But why would you be?
- 23:10When you're Milam on television, you know you got This is a
- 23:12talented team, year after year after year.
- 23:15It is. But it's also Kentucky.
- 23:18I know Jefferson moves on, but Kentucky hasn't been worth the
- 23:20crap. They haven't, but it's Kentucky
- 23:22basketball. It's a blue.
- 23:23No, I get it. I I absolutely, I get there
- 23:25where they fall in the ranking process status wise.
- 23:28We obviously saw Iowa State right now is a lot better
- 23:30progress than Kentucky, right, which is crazy to think, but
- 23:33it's not close. The last half decade they blow
- 23:36out of the water. And like you said, it's the
- 23:37comfort factor and like, look at Lexington is beautiful.
- 23:40I love Lexington, but you know the Big 12.
- 23:45I don't know. We'll see.
- 23:46I'll ask Bill Seals that coming up here.
- 23:47So I'm getting that question first.
- 23:48So steal that one. Yeah.
- 23:51Let's get Thunder Joe in here. I want to talk to him about his
- 23:53squad. Are you nervous at all, Joe,
- 23:55about Thunder Spurs? Yeah.
- 23:59Well, I've been, I told you guys earlier in the year, I think the
- 24:00Spurs are the only team that could beat them because, you
- 24:03know, they look good, you know, this season against each other.
- 24:06But that's not why I call it. I don't want to jinx the
- 24:07Thunder. I got a theory.
- 24:09I got a theory on the baseball free agent signings and whatnot,
- 24:12Michael Mcgreevy told Ken Rosens.
- 24:14I'm a Cardinal fan and watching this Cardinal team, I don't feel
- 24:17like they're out of any game they playing.
- 24:19Mcgreevy brought it up to Rosenthal and it dawned on me he
- 24:22told Ken Rosenthal during after he got done pitching, he's like,
- 24:25we've all played together since AA.
- 24:28Now if you now, if you look at it, the Reds, the Cardinals, the
- 24:31Pirates, the Brewers, they don't have big free agent signage for
- 24:35crying out loud. The Brewers got rid of Corbin
- 24:37Burns. They're all homegrown.
- 24:38They're all homegrown teams. You look at the Nationals, the
- 24:41Dodgers are not blowing teams out of the water.
- 24:44You look at the Rays, you look at the A's, look, White Sox, for
- 24:48crying out loud. Are we, are we seeing a shift to
- 24:51where? Don't have to spend the money.
- 24:54Hey, so let me add this interesting point.
- 24:56Was it the, was it from a couple of weeks ago, Rosenthal and
- 24:59Mcgravy on a Saturday night? Because that's I saw those two
- 25:02speak and I was blown away by Mcgravy in a positive way.
- 25:05Was that the one you're referring to?
- 25:07Yes, yes, it is because Roosevelt asked him if he was
- 25:10surprised about the success teams had so far.
- 25:13And Mcgreeve is like, not really, because we've all played
- 25:15since AA and we won championships with AA level and
- 25:19the AAA level. He's like, well, outside of four
- 25:21or five guys, he's 100% correct. Yeah, I saw that interview when
- 25:25I was really impressed by Mcgreevy.
- 25:26In fact, I think I came here at some point next week, the
- 25:29following week and said as much. It was a Saturday Fox game and
- 25:32and Rosenthal was there. Interesting.
- 25:34So these Cardinals are fun to watch.
- 25:36I mean, I I don't know how they're doing it.
- 25:38I don't know if they're going to be able to, you know, what the
- 25:40longevity is for this team this year, but it's and maybe it's
- 25:45going to be the Brewers and the Cardinals in the race.
- 25:47Who would it right But? But yeah, but yeah, it could be
- 25:50and you never know, like, like I said, go up and down the
- 25:52standings and every team that's having massive success don't
- 25:55have that free big free agent findings.
- 25:57Look how look how bad the Phillies are.
- 26:00Yeah, the Mets. Mets are just atrocious.
- 26:02My God, they're bad. Can't get out of their own way.
- 26:05Thanks Joe appreciate the call. Enjoy.
- 26:07Enjoy the game tonight. Good luck to your squad.
- 26:09A big OKC fan? Hang on.
- 26:13Well, we have this just in from Chad Leistekow of the Des Moines
- 26:17Register. The Iowa women's basketball team
- 26:19has signed a home and home with UConn.
- 26:23How about that? Yeah.
- 26:25Next two seasons they will go to stores.
- 26:27Coming up this. Year starting in two thousand
- 26:302627 to stores and then a Carver in 2720.
- 26:34How? About that, well done that is.
- 26:37That's huge. Jan Jensen Yes, tip of the ball
- 26:40cap game last year they got throttled.
- 26:42Neutral floor. What was or was it 2 years ago
- 26:45they were on TV on Thanksgiving against South Carolina maybe?
- 26:49Oh, that was the Iowa State women, was it?
- 26:51Yes. That was that Thanksgiving game.
- 26:53OK, Well they got down like they got 50 to 15 or something like.
- 26:56That yeah, that's right. It was Iowa State.
- 26:58You're right. Last year Iowa played, UConn
- 27:01couldn't get the ball up the floor.
- 27:02I think they had like 27 turnovers in the game.
- 27:04But still wasn't as bad as the UCLA game.
- 27:07No, that was as bad as. But good for them.
- 27:10Yes, good for them. Good for women's basketball?
- 27:12Home and home. That's fun.
- 27:15I, I, I like it. By the way, Speaking of women's
- 27:17basketball, tomorrow night, I'm, I was going to say mildly
- 27:23intriguing. What's up a level than that for
- 27:25the Valkyries and the Fever? Especially when you go back to
- 27:29what you know, is it Tiffany Hayes and Caitlin Clark when
- 27:35she's when when Caitlin's pissed off or when she's talking trash,
- 27:39She's just on another level. She's so much fun to watch.
- 27:42But this is the rematch and they haven't.
- 27:44Neither team has played a game since this game on Friday night,
- 27:47and they'll play tomorrow on prime at 9:00.
- 27:49I think we, I think we reach out to Scott Agnes.
- 27:51That's a good one. Yeah, 'cause I'm interested in
- 27:55that game tomorrow night because of all the histrionics.
- 27:57And kind of the week off a chance to after the back injury
- 28:00from Caitlin the game before and.
- 28:02That Hayes gals tweeting on on X that maybe some of the players
- 28:08in the league should try and injure Caitlin.
- 28:10Great. What are you thinking?
- 28:11What are you doing? They'll never get out of their
- 28:13own way, will they? But the rematch is tomorrow
- 28:16night. I can't wait to watch that at
- 28:189:00. Now, how much will I see?
- 28:19I'm not going to. I'm not.
- 28:22You're not going to make it to the end.
- 28:23Well, that that and Colorado and Montreal will be going on if
- 28:27that game goes because these two teams are so evenly matched.
- 28:30God, I love this. And, and now I say it all the
- 28:33time, There's nothing like it. Home game in Montreal, at the
- 28:37Bell Center in Montreal. It's just it's just a different
- 28:39level. It's just a different level.
- 28:42Miller and Condon, 1230 Bill Seals Next Iowa Sports Radio
- 28:45Network. Hi, Mallory Condon, welcome back
- 29:0512:35 on a Tuesday. We'll be here until 2:00.
- 29:09Matt Snyder kicks off our number 2 baseball conversation.
- 29:12MLB, he writes, covers the MLB for CBSSports.com.
- 29:17Bill Seals covers Iowa State, cyclonereport.com, part of the
- 29:21rival slash on Three Network. And Bill joins us, Bill,
- 29:24Trenton, Ken. So a lot of Twitter regarding
- 29:27Milan Manchilovic, obviously he has until tomorrow at 11:59 to
- 29:32make his intentions know whether he's going to stay in the draft
- 29:35or whether he's going to go back to school for his final year of
- 29:38eligibility. Bill, I know that you thought
- 29:40that. It's good to talk to you, by the
- 29:42way, and appreciate it as always.
- 29:43You coming on. You thought that the chances
- 29:46were slim to none that Munchilovich would not be a
- 29:50cyclone. Maybe I'm putting words into
- 29:52your mouth, but you didn't think there would be much chance.
- 29:55This was last week or a couple of weeks ago when I asked the
- 29:57question. Now that seemingly he may be
- 30:00coming back to school, do you still feel that there's no shot
- 30:04Iowa State gets some more of you, maybe moved up a little
- 30:07bit, but still don't think it's going to happen?
- 30:09Where are you, Bill? Well, I don't, I don't think
- 30:12he's going to end up back at Iowa State and I don't think
- 30:15that's really in the cards right now.
- 30:17And it's just a matter of if he, as you mentioned, tomorrow night
- 30:21pulls out of the draft or remains in there.
- 30:25You know, there's been a lot of buzz out there.
- 30:27I think with Kentucky, I'm not really seeing too many
- 30:30reputable, reputable, excuse me, reports right now on him being
- 30:36for sure headed to Kentucky. I think that a lot of rumors out
- 30:39there by people on on X about that.
- 30:43So, you know, Louisville, St. John's, I think those were the
- 30:47other two schools rumored with him for a while now.
- 30:51And yeah, there was another room out rumor out there that he had
- 30:55cancelled all of his remaining workouts too.
- 30:59I I think there's another way you can look at that though,
- 31:02too. Maybe he got the guarantee, that
- 31:05first round guarantee or or the guarantee that he wanted to
- 31:09remain in the draft from a certain team and and has decided
- 31:13to cancel other workouts. You know, there's a school of
- 31:17thought. I think that could be the case.
- 31:18Or maybe he's reportedly cancelled him because he's going
- 31:22to pull out of the draft tomorrow and didn't want to
- 31:24waste any more any more teams as time with that.
- 31:28So you know what we'll have to see.
- 31:30But I can tell you pretty sure he's not going to end up back at
- 31:33Iowa State. Any idea, Bill, if it comes to
- 31:36that decision or if it would have come to that decision, why
- 31:40is it strictly the money aspect or anything different?
- 31:43Why Iowa State just wasn't a part of it where it felt like if
- 31:47he was coming back to college, it wasn't going to be a names,
- 31:49it was going to be somewhere else.
- 31:50Any idea the reasoning behind that?
- 31:53Well, I think money is probably a, a big thing if he and, and
- 31:57especially with this five year rule, if there's some
- 32:00grandfathering in, if Milan is not going to improve his draft
- 32:05stock, you know, if his, you know, his draft stock is what it
- 32:09is. You know, whether it's now or I
- 32:13think if he comes back to college for another year, even
- 32:17goes for two years, if that grandfathering comes in, he
- 32:20could get a, if he could get a, you know, like a two year with
- 32:235,000,000 per like a $10 million guarantee from Kentucky.
- 32:28Well, that I think that's, you know, that's going to be hard to
- 32:31pass down if he comes back, back to college.
- 32:33And I, I don't think Iowa State was probably in that position to
- 32:37do like that level of, of NIL guarantee.
- 32:43And then I think you look at Milan, if, if he's going to take
- 32:47I, I don't, I, I hate to throw figures out here, guys.
- 32:50I don't know necessarily what Iowa State would have been in
- 32:52position to to to give him, but if it's significantly less than
- 32:58he, he might as well just roll the dice, I think and and go
- 33:01through the draft process. If he's a second rounder, if he
- 33:04can get on a two way and just go ahead and become a pro.
- 33:07And and I think, you know, he probably doesn't in that
- 33:10scenario, doesn't make a whole lot less than he would have if
- 33:14he would have come back to Iowa State.
- 33:16But if you know, if you're looking at Kentucky or a
- 33:18Louisville or a St. John's where he can get a
- 33:215,000,000 per and he gets two more seasons of eligibility,
- 33:25well, you know, that's life changing money right there.
- 33:27And he could just become a pro in a couple years and and see
- 33:30what happens at that .20 That all made sense.
- 33:33Yeah, no, it does. 21 years old. I'll be 22 in September.
- 33:37Obviously, age does not work against you or work in your
- 33:41favor rather, when you're part of the NBA draft, you're going
- 33:44through the process. So.
- 33:46So he would be one that would get grandfathered in and could
- 33:49potentially get that an additional year.
- 33:52And if so, obviously if you can make, you know, say 10 million
- 33:56or 12 million in two years playing a couple extra years of
- 33:59college basketball, assuming you get that extra year, that works
- 34:03out financially as opposed to slipping through the G League
- 34:05and hoping for the best. Yeah.
- 34:08And I think that's the that's the whole deal here is if he's
- 34:11going to come back to college, you know, he wants to kind of
- 34:14Max that out as much as he can. And and that's that's big money
- 34:19right there. And I don't think Iowa State
- 34:21would have been in position to do that.
- 34:23So but yeah, I mean, I don't know, there's not really been
- 34:26any, any indications on if there will be a grandfathering in.
- 34:29I think, you know, some folks would would not want to
- 34:33grandfather in because then you kind of seems like you go
- 34:36through that whole COVID year scenario and who's got what and
- 34:41you're always, you know, wondering and and then but if
- 34:44they don't grandfather at these athletes in, then there's going
- 34:47to be a lawsuit for sure. There should be.
- 34:50Lipsy should have to stand up in court.
- 34:52Yes, Lipsy and his and his year, whoever played in that, was he
- 34:5722 or 23? Whatever his year?
- 34:59They're the ones getting screwed cause the COVID guys all get an
- 35:01extra year now these guys are going to get 5.
- 35:04There's one year of players that are going to not factor into
- 35:09that benefit. So I, I just wonder if that
- 35:11lawsuit's coming because it would certainly make some sense
- 35:14that it, that it does. But I just saw Jeff Goodman's
- 35:17just reporting that Milan Manchilovich is going to get 7
- 35:21potentially 7 million a year. And that came out in 19 minutes
- 35:25from Jeff Goodman of field of 68.
- 35:27It's a. Pretty good chunk of change.
- 35:29Pretty good chunk of change. Yeah.
- 35:31Well, and and and it and it makes sense, I think in in that
- 35:35it's probably going to be Kentucky.
- 35:37I think if that is indeed the case, because what was it was
- 35:42the figure was the figure like 14, I think portal guy is a
- 35:46Kentucky hosted and they didn't get any one of them.
- 35:49So I, I'm not sure what they're paying any of their incoming
- 35:53freshmen, but they've got money out there.
- 35:55They got money because they missed on so many guys in the
- 35:58portal and Mark Pope needs to make a splash here.
- 36:01So I, I think it you know, 7 million very, very good
- 36:05possibility that that ends up being the case.
- 36:08Think how it's changed that, Trent, we just talked earlier
- 36:10about Kentucky being a blue blood Kentucky, Kentucky,
- 36:13Kentucky and 14 kids said no to Kentucky.
- 36:18And also, those prices got driven up by Kentucky that then
- 36:22they were able to get at other institutions.
- 36:24Now, 14 of the top 20 guys in the portal that took visits to
- 36:29Kentucky, they didn't land one of them.
- 36:31Tough, tough sledding for Mark Pope.
- 36:33Hey, Bill, I want to ask you about a guy that I know you've
- 36:36written about a ton, Josiah Harrington, who's been committed
- 36:39for a while to Iowa State. He's an Iowa kid over at North
- 36:42Scott over in the Quad Cities, didn't get an opportunity.
- 36:45They got beat in the sub state final by Prairie, so didn't make
- 36:48the state tournament. What can you tell us about him
- 36:50as a player? And we're looking deep into the
- 36:52future here, but very well regarded on the national scene.
- 36:56Yeah, yeah, it's it was nice. I did make it down there on
- 37:00Friday evening to to to watch him play for the Brad Beal and
- 37:06lead to Nike UIBL team. They were down a session 3 was
- 37:10in Kansas City this past weekend.
- 37:13So I made it down there to watch him.
- 37:16You know, his role for that team I think is more so probably as a
- 37:21as a as a three man type just with it.
- 37:25They've got 2 ball dominant guards.
- 37:27So right now Jimmy McKinney is one of those is one of those
- 37:31guys that he was in Iowa State that recruit for a little while.
- 37:35They and I think they've gone in different directions.
- 37:38So but yeah, I mean, I was, I I was happy with what I saw.
- 37:41I think his ball handling is coming around.
- 37:45You know, if he's ATJ recruit, you're always going to see the
- 37:48defense and the rebounding. I think that that played out
- 37:52certainly in the game that I watched on Friday night.
- 37:54I wasn't afraid to crash the boards, made an impact on
- 37:58defense. He's got nice length, nice
- 38:00wingspan, you know, turned had a had a steal on defense 1
- 38:05possession. I saw, you know, turn it around,
- 38:08ran the length of the floor and and finished for two points.
- 38:11So I was pretty happy with this game.
- 38:13You know, he didn't play last season.
- 38:15I think he was poised to be with Mocan I I believe last year, but
- 38:20that didn't happen. He had the knee injury missed
- 38:23all the spring and summer, so he's kind of making up for lost
- 38:27time right now. As you know, Trent, you know
- 38:29what you're seeing North Scott on a on a nightly basis as you
- 38:34go through that schedule compared to what you're getting
- 38:36in the EYBL, it's quite a step up in competition.
- 38:40But I I think he's he's playing very well.
- 38:43I mean he's that just with those two ball dominant guards,
- 38:46though, a lot of possessions he doesn't even touch the ball.
- 38:49So I, I think he's making the most, I guess you could say
- 38:53making the most with the opportunities that he does have.
- 38:57What is it like for you? I know our buddy Tom Caikert
- 39:00over at Hawkeye Report, he was also in Kansas City.
- 39:03What's it like for you media guys when you're covering an AAU
- 39:05event? I think all of us kind of have
- 39:07an idea because we see it on television covering a basketball
- 39:10game, press roll, wherever it is.
- 39:12What's it like covering an event like that?
- 39:15Well, I, I, I think if the one in Kansas City, I really like
- 39:19being down there. I, I know a lot of the national
- 39:22recruiting guys, the analysts, they, they love going down to
- 39:26Memphis the weekend before just because it's a live period.
- 39:29Coaches are out. I mean, you, you've got
- 39:31basically every, you know, top program in the country times
- 39:36probably 2, maybe sometimes three coaches on each of those
- 39:40Staffs is down there. I mean, it's just the, the
- 39:43environment down there is just, I mean, it's crazy.
- 39:46It, it's just insane. And then you go to Kansas City,
- 39:49coaches aren't allowed out that Memorial Day weekend, that
- 39:52holiday weekend. So it's a lot different.
- 39:54I think it's a lot easier, you know, to get around and, and,
- 39:58and to watch a number of these guys play, you know, for Iowa
- 40:01State, TJ cast such a a small web for players.
- 40:06So I, I was really only down there to watch three players.
- 40:09So they just because it's such a narrow focus in that 27 class.
- 40:13But you know, the other, the other thing, it is kind of fun
- 40:17that Trent, you know, I, I took my son down there with me.
- 40:21He was shooting some pictures and some video.
- 40:23Stuff and and the all the NBA players that are down there, the
- 40:28current, the former guys, you know, a lot of the current guys
- 40:32are involved with those teams. You know, Matt Barnes, for
- 40:35example, he was coaching the team.
- 40:38I believe it. I believe Chris Paul's another
- 40:41one who coaches A-Team down there.
- 40:43I walked right by Trey Young going the other way.
- 40:46I think he's involved with one of the teams.
- 40:48Hakeem Olajuwon was down there to watch, watch his sons.
- 40:53I believe he's got 2 that are in the 2028 class.
- 40:56So standing right behind Greg Oden.
- 40:59I mean, it was just it. Was.
- 41:01Incredible. Paulo.
- 41:02Paulo Bay. Yeah.
- 41:03Yeah, exactly. Paulo Bonchero was down there.
- 41:06So I mean, it, it was just a who's 2 of Ballers and, you
- 41:09know, current and, and former NBA players.
- 41:13So I mean that that part of it's really cool.
- 41:15There's not really coaches down there.
- 41:17So, so it was a lot easier I think to get an evaluation and
- 41:21kind of up close and and personal with some of those Iowa
- 41:24State recruits. Bill, we literally have one
- 41:26minute left. The Big 12 meetings are
- 41:28happening as we speak. Speak in Frisco, what?
- 41:31What's on the agenda? Do you expect anything to come
- 41:34of this? I know where they stand playoff
- 41:35wise. They want to see it expand.
- 41:38What's on the agenda in Frisco for the Big 12 meetings?
- 41:40Do you have any idea, Bill, to what we should be watching for?
- 41:44Yeah, I'm, I'm sure that that your mark will, will have some
- 41:49opinions that, you know, get some eyeballs from across the
- 41:53country. It actually kicks off tomorrow,
- 41:57the 27th through the 29th. It's down in Frisco.
- 42:01We'll have some, some in well in for those that are in person.
- 42:06And then over Zoom, they'll have some some sessions with woman's
- 42:11basketball, men's basketball, football.
- 42:16And then it looks like on Friday, well, this will be the
- 42:19day after it wraps up. There's an availability around
- 42:22noon that day with your Mark and K State President Richard
- 42:27Linton. So there will be a Zoom from
- 42:29that. So I'm sure plenty of news to
- 42:31come out of that here over the next next three days as the the
- 42:35Big 12 meetings go on down in Texas.
- 42:37Cyclonereport.com Part of rival slash on Three
- 42:41cyclonereport.com. Bill Seals.
- 42:43Bill, thank you, man. I look forward to catching up
- 42:45with you while we do next Monday and hearing what you heard from
- 42:49the Commission etcetera. I'll be able to be a couple of
- 42:51days old, but thanks for what you do for us, Bill.
- 42:53Appreciate it. Thanks guys.
- 42:55Have a good one. Yep.
- 42:56You're the same Bill Seals, cyclonereport.com Take our final
- 42:59time out of our number one Matt Snyder.
- 43:01MLB Talk kicks off our number 2 Miller and Condon on the Iowa
- 43:05Sports Radio Network. I'm Miller Cons in final couple
- 43:25of minutes, our first hour of the program.
- 43:27Scott Doctorman from the athletics.
- 43:29Still to come talk to Doc about the Big 10 meetings that just
- 43:32wrapped up in palatial A. Where is the Big 12 haides in
- 43:37kosher staying? We saw where the Big 10 had set
- 43:39up shop. Guessing it won't be quite as
- 43:42nice. Yeah, that was.
- 43:42Red Roof Inn, I mean, step up from that.
- 43:46Step up, I would think Holiday Inn.
- 43:49Keep going, keep going, yeah. Oh my God, I just saw trying to
- 43:54figure out what's going on down here.
- 43:57So the SEC and the Big 10 distributed about $70 million to
- 44:02each school that got a full share.
- 44:06The ACC was next. They got 47,000,000 per per
- 44:12school. The Big 12 is set to distribute
- 44:1539 and a half million. Dollars so in our state.
- 44:20Almost twice as much. Doubling up Iowa State, how long
- 44:23does that continue? How long can that continue?
- 44:27That's just it because as this guy puts in his piece,
- 44:30Armageddon comes 2030, the ACC, it's not as difficult to get out
- 44:34of their grant of rights and the Big 10 contract is over.
- 44:37Yes, that's when we're going to see once again it hit the fan.
- 44:43Hopefully, for your sake and your partners, it's May, June,
- 44:46July. Let's do it during that time.
- 44:49Start middle of April if you would.
- 44:50Yep. But it seems like.
- 44:55Get a lot. Of it's not sustainable, no,
- 44:58because the Big 10 and the and the SEC, there's 70 million now
- 45:02that's not going down, No. And the ACC's got a significant
- 45:05head start on you. Hour 2 coming up next, Matt
- 45:10Snyder on MLB CBSSports.com, Scott Dockerman from The
- 45:15Athletic, Trent's plays of the day, circus sports sponsor
- 45:19those. And then coming up at 2:00 off
- 45:22the bench with Sean and Lucas Miller and Condon, an hour to go
- 45:24on our program. Glad you're with us on the Iowa
- 45:26Sports Radio Network.
