- 0:00Speaker 1: Don't be afraid to make changes. Don't think that if
- 0:04Speaker 1: you make changes, Ismael and Hagar are going to die.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I got a well they haven't even seen yet. You
- 0:16Speaker 1: don't have to live in this chaos. Your mistakes, in
- 0:21Speaker 1: your miracles are cohabitating in the same space. You still
- 0:26Speaker 1: need the courage to change. God is getting ready to
- 0:33Speaker 1: blow your mind. He's getting ready to do something that
- 0:39Speaker 1: you thought it was too late for, that you gave
- 0:42Speaker 1: up on, that you thought was impossible. That you are
- 0:45Speaker 1: so aware of your vulnerabilities that you think it can't
- 0:49Speaker 1: happen to you. God is getting ready to blow your mind.
- 0:52Speaker 1: And all of those counterfeit substitute Johnny Come Lately solutions
- 0:57Speaker 1: that you put into place, you ain't gonna need none
- 0:59Speaker 1: of them, because through your own body to your own
- 1:03Speaker 1: gift is not gonna come through the evangelist you bring in.
- 1:07Speaker 1: The preach is not going to come in through the revival.
- 1:10Speaker 1: It's not gonna come through all in conferences, your habit,
- 1:13Speaker 1: and you can't get nobody to come to that's not
- 1:16Speaker 1: going to do it. It's going to come through your
- 1:18Speaker 1: own mouth. Stop giving the hangar the job of having
- 1:21Speaker 1: your baby. Nobody can have your baby. But you, God said,
- 1:25Speaker 1: out of your body, horse shot to oh cold shop
- 1:29Speaker 1: or somebody come get me, Sarah, I feel the holy ghost.
- 1:33Speaker 1: God said, out of your own body, you gonna push
- 1:36Speaker 1: this baby out. You won't push it for yourself. I
- 1:40Speaker 1: don't know who I'm talking to, but slap anybody you
- 1:43Speaker 1: can reach and say push. It's coming out of you.
- 1:49Speaker 1: It's coming out of your belly. It's coming out of
- 1:52Speaker 1: your spirit. It's coming out of your bowels. It's coming
- 1:55Speaker 1: out of your guts, it's coming out of your annointy.
- 1:58Speaker 1: It's coming out of your power. If you stop being
- 2:01Speaker 1: trifling and puss, you ain't gonna be able to have
- 2:05Speaker 1: this baby while you're drinking a milkshake. You're gonna have
- 2:09Speaker 1: to puss slop your neighbor and say, pus, wait a minute.
- 2:22Speaker 1: We got four people in this tent. And this is
- 2:28Speaker 1: the challenge of growth. The challenge of growth is when
- 2:38Speaker 1: you designed it at one stage and now you're in
- 2:44Speaker 1: another stage, and now you're in a stage that you
- 2:47Speaker 1: don't need when you started in your first stage. But
- 2:51Speaker 1: you can't let go of what you started at your
- 2:53Speaker 1: first stage because you're committed to it, and the challenge
- 2:57Speaker 1: is sever never thought that Abraham would become bond to
- 3:03Speaker 1: the bond woman. She never thought they'd be giggling over dinner.
- 3:12Speaker 1: She never thought that they'd be winking at each other.
- 3:16Speaker 1: She never understood soul ties. She never understood that there's
- 3:23Speaker 1: no way that you can keep laying with somebody and
- 3:26Speaker 1: not become bond to them. That you can't hear their
- 3:30Speaker 1: dreams and their hopes. And what would you have been
- 3:32Speaker 1: had you not been in Egypt? And what would you
- 3:34Speaker 1: have been if you had not been a maid? And
- 3:36Speaker 1: he listened at her dreams, and he listened at her tears,
- 3:39Speaker 1: and he listened at her fears. And he was bond.
- 3:47Speaker 1: He was bond to the bond woman. And she didn't
- 3:51Speaker 1: see that in the plan. She only saw that she
- 3:54Speaker 1: could have a baby. But she could not see that
- 3:57Speaker 1: she could have her husband. And now Abraham is bond
- 4:06Speaker 1: to the bond woman. And by the time Hagar, by
- 4:10Speaker 1: the time Sarah realizes that this tent is a mess,
- 4:17Speaker 1: And let me talk to you a minute. I ain't
- 4:20Speaker 1: worried about your church being great. I'm not too worried
- 4:23Speaker 1: about your business being great. I'm worried about your tent
- 4:28Speaker 1: being great. But it's a tent. I gotta sleep in it,
- 4:38Speaker 1: I gotta eat in it. I gotta carry it around
- 4:42Speaker 1: in the hot, doesn't it I gotta put it up
- 4:46Speaker 1: and take it down, and put it up, and take
- 4:47Speaker 1: it down, and put it up and take it down.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And Abraham's problem is that the tennis getting crowded. And
- 5:04Speaker 1: I just wanted to ask you how crowded? How crowded?
- 5:19Speaker 1: It's your tent? Have you, God? Too many people with
- 5:34Speaker 1: conflicting agendas living in your tent? And God says to him,
- 5:46Speaker 1: harken him too, the voice of our wife, and he
- 5:52Speaker 1: tastes one bottle of water. My Abraham is rich, and
- 6:04Speaker 1: Ismael is his son, and Hagar is his concubine, and
- 6:13Speaker 1: he gives her one bottle of water and a few
- 6:20Speaker 1: loaves of bread and turns her over to God. And
- 6:32Speaker 1: the problem with you, God, player, is that you are
- 6:40Speaker 1: responsible for everybody, everybody who was in your life, everybody
- 6:46Speaker 1: who is in your life, everybody who's ever gonna be
- 6:49Speaker 1: in your life. And you wonder why you're exhausted. You
- 6:52Speaker 1: have got fifty people in your tent right now that
- 6:57Speaker 1: are sufficient that could take care of themselves. That you
- 7:00Speaker 1: think you're helping, but you're really hurting because the more
- 7:04Speaker 1: you take care of them, the more crippled they become,
- 7:07Speaker 1: and they'll never stand up and be who they were
- 7:10Speaker 1: created to be. As long as you solve every problem
- 7:14Speaker 1: and fix every door, y'all ain't shouting as good as
- 7:17Speaker 1: I'm preaching, but I'm gonna preach anyway. Who am I
- 7:20Speaker 1: helping in this place today? He gave her one bottle
- 7:24Speaker 1: of water and a couple of biscuits and said, see you.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Not because he wasn't compassionate, but because he knows that
- 7:33Speaker 1: you cannot raise God's child. God has to raise his
- 7:38Speaker 1: own children. God has to make a way for his
- 7:41Speaker 1: own children. God has to show himself strong in his
- 7:44Speaker 1: own children. Suppose he'd have given her too much bread
- 7:48Speaker 1: and too much water, God would have never spoke to her.
- 7:51Speaker 1: But where Abraham let up, That's where God stepped in.
- 7:56Speaker 1: And you are standing in the way of your people,
- 7:59Speaker 1: heaving and encounter with God. You're such a big mama.
- 8:04Speaker 1: You're so busy taking care of everything. Non't wonder your child.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Don't pray. She don't have to pray. All she gotta
- 8:11Speaker 1: do is text you how you fix everything? God said
- 8:15Speaker 1: get up the way, step aside, move over over the corner.
- 8:19Speaker 1: God wants to show himself strong. But they gotta be
- 8:23Speaker 1: in the desert to find God. They can't find God
- 8:30Speaker 1: if all they can find is you. If you know,
- 8:37Speaker 1: God's talking to you, giving thirty seconds of crazy break.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So this is what caught my attention about the text.
- 8:58Speaker 1: God said to Abram, let it be grievous to you.
- 9:03Speaker 1: And it was the word grievous. And when I focused
- 9:09Speaker 1: on the word grievous, when I think of grief, I
- 9:12Speaker 1: think somebody has to die. But there are a lot
- 9:16Speaker 1: of us grieving with our caskets. We're grieving over the
- 9:25Speaker 1: death of what we had in mind. We are grieving
- 9:31Speaker 1: because our life did not turn out the way we
- 9:33Speaker 1: expected it to turn out. We're grieving because who we
- 9:36Speaker 1: expected to share it with is no longer by our side.
- 9:40Speaker 1: We're grieving because how we imagine things has been terminated
- 9:45Speaker 1: and we have been stuck in a state of grief.
- 9:48Speaker 1: And as long as you are grieving, you can't be creative.
- 9:54Speaker 1: As long as you are grieving, you cannot be creative.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Let me hurry up and finish. As long as you
- 10:00Speaker 1: are grieving, you cannot hear God. As long as you
- 10:03Speaker 1: are grieving, You cannot discover yourself. As long as you
- 10:06Speaker 1: are grieving, you don't have the courage to stand in
- 10:09Speaker 1: the power of its might. And the Lord told me
- 10:12Speaker 1: to break the spirit of grief off of this room. Today.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I don't know who you are, and I don't know
- 10:18Speaker 1: if you got the courage to have the spirit of
- 10:20Speaker 1: grief broken off of you. But I curse the spirit
- 10:24Speaker 1: of grief. Everybody who leaves it broken. Jump up on
- 10:27Speaker 1: your feet. I curse the spirit of grief. I curse
- 10:30Speaker 1: the spirit of depression. I curse the spirit of heaviness.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I curse the spirit of holiness. I curse the spirit
- 10:38Speaker 1: of despair. I curse the spirit of anguish. I curse
- 10:42Speaker 1: the spirit of trouble that's standing in your way and
- 10:45Speaker 1: shutting you down. I curse it right now. I release
- 10:49Speaker 1: the spirit of creativity. I release the creativity of opportunity.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I release the spear of passion that's about the burst
- 10:57Speaker 1: forth in your belly. I release our enthusiasm. I release
- 11:02Speaker 1: fresh ideas, fresh concepts, fresh relationships, fresh stores open. I
- 11:09Speaker 1: release prosperity. I relieve peace, I release power. I relieve fortitude.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I release staying power if you receive it. How at
- 11:20Speaker 1: a boy. Now you gotta understand this. The tent is
- 11:35Speaker 1: crowded because Abram's mistake and Abram's miracle are living in
- 11:46Speaker 1: the same place. And the truth of the matter with
- 11:54Speaker 1: you is your mistakes and your miracles are roommates. How said,
- 12:21Speaker 1: I have peace whatever time I expect the miracles to
- 12:27Speaker 1: turn the corner. Here come the mistake, looking at me
- 12:30Speaker 1: in the face. And this as I close, this's my
- 12:43Speaker 1: favorite part of the taste. That God is so much
- 12:47Speaker 1: love that he says I will not suffer that which
- 12:54Speaker 1: is born of the flesh and galations. It says that
- 12:57Speaker 1: which is born of the flesh to inherit with the
- 13:01Speaker 1: seed of the promise. But I will even take your
- 13:07Speaker 1: mistake and make a great nation. They didn't hear me.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Let me try, y'all. I will take your worst mistake,
- 13:30Speaker 1: and I'll make all things work together for the good
- 13:33Speaker 1: of them that love the Lord, and I will bless you.
- 13:43Speaker 1: And the only thing I'm asking of you is don't
- 13:49Speaker 1: be afraid to make changes. Don't think that if you
- 13:56Speaker 1: make changes, Ismael and hey are going to die. I
- 14:04Speaker 1: got a well. They haven't even seen yet. But I
- 14:18Speaker 1: can't show him the well if you can't make the changes.
- 14:24Speaker 1: The problem is people never give people room to change,
- 14:31Speaker 1: to grow, to evolve. And even though we are Christians,
- 14:36Speaker 1: we are the world's best at alienating people over what
- 14:41Speaker 1: they did before. And it takes courage to correct or
- 14:49Speaker 1: to change course. Because if he changes course, what will
- 14:56Speaker 1: become of Hagar? Where will Hagar go? Where has the
- 15:08Speaker 1: ring of Isaac's flesh? God? Hagar is cast into the wilderness.
- 15:19Speaker 1: And when God comes down, God does not talk like Sarah.
- 15:23Speaker 1: See sometimes, sisters, you can be right about what you said,
- 15:34Speaker 1: but wrong about how you said it. You said, cast
- 15:39Speaker 1: out the woman, the bomb woman and her son. God
- 15:43Speaker 1: comes down and says, I know, Ismael is your seed.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Understanding is important to bring about change. You can't just
- 15:58Speaker 1: look at it from your perspective just because you don't
- 16:00Speaker 1: have no skin in the game. Abraham has skin in
- 16:05Speaker 1: the game. Ismaeil is his son too. See. Until we
- 16:10Speaker 1: take responsibility for the mistakes we made, we cannot change courts.
- 16:17Speaker 1: As long as you push it off and act like
- 16:19Speaker 1: it was just them, and you tell the story where
- 16:23Speaker 1: you are always the hero. This woman would have never
- 16:27Speaker 1: been in Abraham's life. You brought the woman into his life,
- 16:30Speaker 1: You came up with the strategy of them sleeping together.
- 16:33Speaker 1: You told him to have a baby. You made this
- 16:36Speaker 1: woman of your slave and made her sleep with a
- 16:40Speaker 1: man that she never picked to sleep with. And now
- 16:44Speaker 1: it's all blown up in your face, and you would
- 16:46Speaker 1: like it's his fault. But what is amazing about the
- 17:04Speaker 1: text is God comes down and says to Abraham, harken
- 17:11Speaker 1: unto the voice of your wife's arrived, because a woman
- 17:16Speaker 1: is right. Even though she said it wrong, she is right.
- 17:24Speaker 1: And what is happening here is correction. Now I'm almost finished.
- 17:34Speaker 1: In order to have correction, you have to have the
- 17:40Speaker 1: challenging responsibility of trusting God to handle our mistakes. God
- 17:53Speaker 1: says to Abraham. Leave Hagard to me, Ismael is your son.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I will make of him a great nation. But you
- 18:08Speaker 1: can't take your mistake and your miracle and put them
- 18:12Speaker 1: all in the same house and make it work. There
- 18:20Speaker 1: has to come a cutting away, a cutting away. You
- 18:27Speaker 1: can't change course if you can't cut you can't change
- 18:34Speaker 1: course if you can't cast out. And the challenge is
- 18:40Speaker 1: to trust me with the collateral damage. Who am I
- 18:45Speaker 1: preaching to trust me that I don't need you to
- 18:56Speaker 1: take care of Ismael, God says, my grace is sufficient
- 19:13Speaker 1: for your mistakes. My grace, My grace, My grace, My
- 19:19Speaker 1: grace is sufficient. You don't have to live in this chaos.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Your spirit has been in a state of constant disruption
- 19:33Speaker 1: because you won't change course. And I don't want you
- 19:38Speaker 1: to live in this constant, chaotic, stressful environment of forlornment,
- 19:47Speaker 1: because your mistakes in your miracles are cohabitating in the
- 19:51Speaker 1: same space. All I need from you is the courage
- 20:01Speaker 1: to change course. If you don't change course, you're gonna
- 20:10Speaker 1: mess up your destiny. If you don't change course, you're
- 20:15Speaker 1: gonna mess up your future. If you don't change course,
- 20:18Speaker 1: you're not gonna be in the place you need to
- 20:20Speaker 1: be to become who I created you to be. If
- 20:23Speaker 1: you don't change course, you're gonna spend the latter years
- 20:27Speaker 1: miserable because you won't own up to your mistakes and
- 20:31Speaker 1: acknowledge that you were wrong, and you won't fix it.
- 20:36Speaker 1: And all the dancing and all the shouting and all
- 20:38Speaker 1: the giving you do over top of it will not
- 20:41Speaker 1: take away from the fact that you still need the
- 20:45Speaker 1: courage to change course. Who is here needs the courage
- 20:57Speaker 1: to change course? You know what they say. The definition
- 21:03Speaker 1: of lunacy is to continue to do the same thing
- 21:07Speaker 1: expecting a different result. You can't be the woman you
- 21:12Speaker 1: want to be and the woman you used to be
- 21:15Speaker 1: at the same time. You cannot be the man you
- 21:22Speaker 1: were created to be and the man you used to
- 21:26Speaker 1: be at the same time. And you know that now.
- 21:31Speaker 1: But the problem is, you just can't bring yourself to
- 21:36Speaker 1: change course because of all the people that it would
- 21:43Speaker 1: hurt for you to change. And how long will you
- 21:49Speaker 1: make those people more important than your destiny? God said,
- 21:59Speaker 1: turn them over to me. Oh God, I'm talking to somebody.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I'm talking to somebody. I don't know who it is.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I see the Lord sent me here to lose somebody
- 22:12Speaker 1: this morning, to liberate somebody this morning. You've been in bondage.
- 22:16Speaker 1: You can't even be your best self. You can't do
- 22:19Speaker 1: your best work, you can't be who you were created
- 22:22Speaker 1: to me because you're stuck in a situation that you
- 22:26Speaker 1: help to create. And you're guilty, and you feel guilty,
- 22:31Speaker 1: and you overcompensate because you're guilty, and you're in this
- 22:34Speaker 1: situation because you're guilty and you're stuck because you're either
- 22:39Speaker 1: way you move, somebody's gonna get hurt. And if you
- 22:42Speaker 1: don't move, it's gonna be you listen, hands up and say, God,
- 22:55Speaker 1: give me the courage to change course. That means I
- 23:02Speaker 1: might not get to say everything I want to say.
- 23:04Speaker 1: That means I got to hold my peace sometimes. That
- 23:07Speaker 1: means sometimes I got to bite my lip. That means
- 23:09Speaker 1: sometimes I've got to learn another discipline. That means sometimes
- 23:14Speaker 1: I gotta bleed. But if I have to bleed to
- 23:18Speaker 1: be better, I'm willing to bleed. I'm willing to bleed
- 23:25Speaker 1: a little while to be better for a long time. See,
- 23:30Speaker 1: I realized that if I didn't have the surgery, the
- 23:34Speaker 1: pain would never go away. And if I had the surgery,
- 23:39Speaker 1: I would have pain for a little while, but eventually
- 23:43Speaker 1: the pain of recovery will go away. See circum season
- 23:49Speaker 1: hurts real bad, but it doesn't hurt real long. Putting
- 23:57Speaker 1: out the Bond Woman hurt real bad, but it didn't
- 24:01Speaker 1: hurt real long. And you got to decide, are you
- 24:09Speaker 1: willing to have a little momentary discomfort to be where
- 24:14Speaker 1: you are called to be, or are you so concerned
- 24:21Speaker 1: about the disruption that your change creates, that you're willing
- 24:28Speaker 1: to be a prisoner in your own life the rest
- 24:32Speaker 1: of your life. That's what this text says to be.
- 24:37Speaker 1: That's what I get out of this text. That's why
- 24:40Speaker 1: this text is important to me, because every time I
- 24:44Speaker 1: ever made a change, somebody got hurt. When God called
- 24:49Speaker 1: me to come to Dallas, somebody got hurt. In West Virginia,
- 24:55Speaker 1: there are people who don't like me. Now I've been
- 24:59Speaker 1: here five years, and they still mad. There are other
- 25:04Speaker 1: people that accept it and they're glad about it. They
- 25:06Speaker 1: see if they get in. But there are some people
- 25:09Speaker 1: that just simply refuse to get over. And I had
- 25:14Speaker 1: to decide, am I gonna spend the rest of my
- 25:16Speaker 1: life honoring your expectations of me? Or do I get
- 25:30Speaker 1: to live my life the way God called me to
- 25:33Speaker 1: live my life. You leave when you want to leave,
- 25:37Speaker 1: you come when you want to come, You miss church
- 25:40Speaker 1: when you feel like missing. But if I'm not here,
- 25:43Speaker 1: you say I came to church and you wasn't there,
- 25:46Speaker 1: don't I get to be a person too. I'm gonna
- 25:50Speaker 1: break your chain to day, the chain that ties you
- 25:54Speaker 1: to living up to other people's expectations all of your life.
- 25:58Speaker 1: The chain that convince you from reaching your destiny and
- 26:03Speaker 1: your purpose, so you can go ahead and fulfill what
- 26:07Speaker 1: God created you to fulfill.
