- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Swahili with Fexingo. Luna: Hey Lucas, good to be here. I'm ready for some more Swahili. Lucas: Today we're talking about fruits. We covered ndizi and maembe last time, but there are two more delicious ones I want to share. Luna: Ooh, I love fruits. Which ones? Lucas: Embe, which is mango, and nanasi, which is pineapple. Luna: Embe and nanasi. Okay, I can say those. Lucas: Good. Now, let me ask you: unapenda embe? That means 'do you like mango?'. Luna: Unapenda embe? Hmm, let me think... Napenda embe. I like mango. Lucas: Exactly. And if you want to say 'I like pineapple', you say napenda nanasi. Luna: Napenda nanasi. I like pineapple. Easy. Lucas: And if you want to say 'the mango is sweet', you say embe ni tamu. Tamu means sweet. Luna: Embe ni tamu. So what about pineapple? Nanasi ni tamu? Lucas: Exactly, nanasi ni tamu. You got it. Luna: You know, speaking of things that are sweet, this podcast is ad-free. If Fexingo has been helping you make progress, you can support that choice at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Yeah, it's a nice way to keep the show clean. So back to fruits — let's practice a little dialogue. Imagine you're at a market and you see a friend. You could say 'unapenda embe?'. Luna: Unapenda embe? And they might answer 'napenda embe, ni tamu.' Lucas: Perfect. Or 'unapenda nanasi?' and they say 'napenda nanasi, ni tamu.' Let's both say that. Luna: Unapenda nanasi? Napenda nanasi, ni tamu. Lucas: Great. Now let's do a quick review. Repeat after me: embe. Luna: Embe. Lucas: Nanasi. Luna: Nanasi. Lucas: Unapenda embe? Luna: Unapenda embe? Lucas: Napenda nanasi. Luna: Napenda nanasi. Lucas: Embe ni tamu. Luna: Embe ni tamu. Lucas: Nanasi ni tamu. Luna: Nanasi ni tamu. Lucas: Excellent. Now you can talk about mangoes and pineapples. Practice these with your friends. Luna: Yeah, I'm going to use these at the market next time. Embe and nanasi. Lucas: That's the spirit. Until next time, keep practicing. Kwaheri. Luna: Kwaheri.
