- 0:02Speaker 1: You know how they say the ball will find you.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Who's that?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Who's they?
- 0:09Speaker 1: I always say that whose day?
- 0:11Speaker 2: Yeah? Who is that?
- 0:12Speaker 1: Well, they say, continue it went in Rome, So you'll
- 0:18Speaker 1: like this one. Kratz. Kyle Schwarber played first base yesterday
- 0:23Speaker 1: for the first time since twenty twenty one.
- 0:28Speaker 2: How do you do?
- 0:29Speaker 1: You're playing first so you need to catch the balls
- 0:31Speaker 1: thrown to you. But as far as balls hit his way, none.
- 0:40Speaker 2: We talked about it yesterday. Catchers can play anywhere.
- 0:43Speaker 1: But now we can squash that ball doesn't always find you.
- 0:48Speaker 3: We'll tell them. Tell them if they say that, tell
- 0:50Speaker 3: them right.
- 0:53Speaker 1: You know how you'll always point out, Oh see they
- 0:56Speaker 1: put them in the outfield for the first time in
- 0:58Speaker 1: an inning. Later, ball hit to him.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Oh no, Usually when you put a guy in the
- 1:02Speaker 2: first ground ball goes right to him.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Right, So in this case nothing I'm talking much about him.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Cannot hear crats why I don't know, and he's talking
- 1:17Speaker 2: and I don't hear him.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah he would, I'm not saying.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Still the best he's ever sounded.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Oh I am, I don't.
- 1:26Speaker 2: No, I heard everyone else. Oh maybe because gott unplugged
- 1:30Speaker 2: my pack under it.
- 1:31Speaker 1: That's definitely not something I would do.
- 1:33Speaker 2: The oldest trick in the books, got You've got sneaky little.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Got him so excited in the first minute that he
- 1:41Speaker 1: went or why are gone? Yep, anyway, Scherer's got twenty
- 1:45Speaker 1: five homers, most in baseball.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yeah, imagine that shocker. At least imagine why I want
- 1:53Speaker 2: to go back to Philly. It's more, way more surprising
- 1:56Speaker 2: he played first than it is it is. What does
- 2:01Speaker 2: this mean as Harper dhing more now? Because then we
- 2:05Speaker 2: talk about this yesterday that his metrics are less metrics.
- 2:10Speaker 2: First I heard this stat and I don't know if
- 2:14Speaker 2: this is true or not, but someone told me this
- 2:17Speaker 2: that if you watch a Phillies game, Harper always flips
- 2:19Speaker 2: the ball to the picture. And he does that because
- 2:23Speaker 2: if you flip the ball to the pitcher, your defensive
- 2:25Speaker 2: rating goes up.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Oh so he doesn't take it himself.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yes, And I see it so mad at my first basement,
- 2:38Speaker 2: take the ball yourself. I don't want to have that
- 2:40Speaker 2: guy and have to catch the ball and run and
- 2:41Speaker 2: touch the base. But then I heard that it ups
- 2:44Speaker 2: your range whatever assistant fact or whatever you want to
- 2:48Speaker 2: call it. It apparently I don't know.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Again, I believe that. If that's true, though, we need
- 2:54Speaker 1: to change that. That's ridiculous.
- 2:56Speaker 2: I'm just saying what I was told.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Someone told me Bryce do it. You want to do
- 3:00Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 3:00Speaker 2: No, Price could do whatever he wants. I don't care
- 3:02Speaker 2: about that's It's just that. It's more of the fact
- 3:04Speaker 2: that that's a thing. That's ridiculous whatever. You know what
- 3:07Speaker 2: playing to that.
- 3:08Speaker 1: This was a thing ten years ago where defensive metrics
- 3:13Speaker 1: in the outfield started to get hotter, and for front
- 3:16Speaker 1: offices they were judging hard off of that. Right before that,
- 3:19Speaker 1: it was eye test. Then all of a sudden, it
- 3:22Speaker 1: has to do with how far back you are. That
- 3:25Speaker 1: became a thing.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You're looking at them, play farther in or farther back.
- 3:28Speaker 1: There were guys I remember I spoke to a couple
- 3:31Speaker 1: that were like, I'm playing farther back because of the metrics.
- 3:33Speaker 1: That's it. I don't think it's the right thing. I
- 3:35Speaker 1: take a few extra steps back just because that's how
- 3:38Speaker 1: I'm getting graded as a player.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Period.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I fought it for a couple of years. My defensive
- 3:42Speaker 1: metrics were down, and so now I'm joining the party.
- 3:46Speaker 2: You know what, Andrew Jones would play like in a
- 3:48Speaker 2: deep second.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Right, Well, he would have gotten crushed by modern.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Metrics for that, but he just got in the Hall
- 3:53Speaker 2: of fame, So I guess for metrics can be wrong
- 3:56Speaker 2: and right at the same time. That's right, was fine,
- 3:58Speaker 2: he was fine. I heard it.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Outfielder would catch the ball and continue to sprint through
- 4:03Speaker 3: it because it graded him more on his range. He
- 4:08Speaker 3: got a couple of gold gloves too, So just saying
- 4:11Speaker 3: that's maybe that's how you cracked the code.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Foss Hustle gets you paid no extra cash. Yeah, foss Hustle.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Gets crack the code.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Yep, Okay, let's charge.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Let's charge about.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Some of our audience might think I'm going to go
- 4:31Speaker 1: a different direction with this one, but I think this
- 4:34Speaker 1: is a feel good story. The Mariners announce they're going
- 4:38Speaker 1: to piggyback not much a few times between now and
- 4:41Speaker 1: the trade deadline or sorry, the All Star break, because
- 4:44Speaker 1: they all got together and said, we're in this together.
- 4:46Speaker 1: There's six of us, let's share. Do you like that
- 4:50Speaker 1: or do you hate that?
- 4:51Speaker 2: I hate that? You do?
- 4:52Speaker 1: What did you want?
- 4:54Speaker 2: There's five pictures. There's five of them. Picture five best.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Why we we had this? We had this argument you
- 4:59Speaker 2: had this even about Chase Dolander.
- 5:01Speaker 1: That's totally different.
- 5:02Speaker 2: No, it's not. No, it's not. It's the exact same thing.
- 5:06Speaker 2: And now you want to flip blow, so you want
- 5:08Speaker 2: to wonder you unplugged by wire, so.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Exactly you want to kick out.
- 5:13Speaker 2: That's not I don't know who's gonna get kicked out.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, guys get kicked out of the
- 5:18Speaker 2: rotation all the time when they pitch bad. Okay, And
- 5:20Speaker 2: if it's Louis Castillo, then it's Louise Cassidy, if it's
- 5:23Speaker 2: Bryce Miller, if it's Brian wu if it's Logan Gilbert,
- 5:26Speaker 2: if it's George Kirby, whoever it has to be, if
- 5:29Speaker 2: they're gonna do a five man rotation. I mean, this
- 5:31Speaker 2: is cool that. I'll say, it's cool they got together
- 5:33Speaker 2: and said we're all in this together.
- 5:34Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 5:35Speaker 2: That part's cool. I like that, But I don't like
- 5:37Speaker 2: the fact that piggyback playing it hasn't It's never worked.
- 5:40Speaker 2: And two days ago, yesterday, when you were talking about
- 5:42Speaker 2: Chase Stolan, you're like, oh, they piggyback, Oh Bubba Chandler
- 5:45Speaker 2: stolanders not piggy No, he's bulks. Yes, that's what do
- 5:49Speaker 2: you think piggybacking is? Scott?
- 5:50Speaker 3: Now I disagree. I'm on Scott's side on this one.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Okay, so you use an opener, wait, wait for Chase Stolen,
- 5:58Speaker 2: but they don't bring him in.
- 5:59Speaker 1: They don't have a problem. So this is a we
- 6:01Speaker 1: have too many good starters. We want to keep all
- 6:03Speaker 1: their value up. Someone's probably gonna get hurt in five
- 6:06Speaker 1: minutes anyway. That's one part of the equation. The other
- 6:08Speaker 1: is we don't have enough good starters. Chase Dole unders
- 6:11Speaker 1: our best pitcher, but we are so soft that we
- 6:14Speaker 1: are going to bring him in after the first inning
- 6:16Speaker 1: to try and help ease him in training wheels him in.
- 6:19Speaker 1: That's pathetic. This to me is different.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Okay, So what happens if you first start, God forbid
- 6:24Speaker 2: this happens. Any of the five starts, whoever the piggybacker
- 6:27Speaker 2: is gets hurt. It's Brian wu his first start. He
- 6:30Speaker 2: gets hurt, first time piggybacker.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yeah you're saying, you're saying we're throwing off his schedule
- 6:38Speaker 1: in time. I just I agree with that. It is
- 6:40Speaker 1: not perfect. I'm just saying that's not as glaringly ridiculous
- 6:45Speaker 1: as saying we don't.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Have that Brian who's not good enough start? Logan gober
- 6:48Speaker 2: is not good enough start.
- 6:49Speaker 1: No, they are. They're all going to do this.
- 6:51Speaker 2: George Kirby's not good enough.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Start one time. They're going to do this, And.
- 6:54Speaker 2: What happens if that one time something goes wrong?
- 6:56Speaker 1: You're right, I'm just asked. I agree.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Listen, if they want to do this, they can do
- 6:59Speaker 2: what they want. Well, what happens after the All Star
- 7:02Speaker 2: break and they've done this one time?
- 7:04Speaker 1: If they get through the whole season with six healthy
- 7:06Speaker 1: starters like this, then everybody needs to pay a million
- 7:08Speaker 1: dollars to their training staff and say sign me up.
- 7:11Speaker 2: And I really did it a couple of years ago.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Didn't they only use five guys?
- 7:14Speaker 1: How do they do that? Nobody else is pulling that
- 7:16Speaker 1: off these days. Look, they're pretty healthy and they went
- 7:18Speaker 1: deep in October. That's actually impressive. We should point that out.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Don't you think good scouting? I think good plan for
- 7:26Speaker 1: your arms? It has to do with are you picking
- 7:29Speaker 1: up guys that you feel like, have good medicals and
- 7:31Speaker 1: you believe in their durability? But also what's your plan?
- 7:35Speaker 1: How are you keeping them healthy. You think it's just
- 7:37Speaker 1: pure Luckcrat.
- 7:39Speaker 3: I mean, there's definitely a lot of luck involved, But
- 7:41Speaker 3: I also think it's the talent level. To me, I
- 7:44Speaker 3: think players who are really good can pitch through some things.
- 7:49Speaker 3: I think players who just redline everything all the time
- 7:53Speaker 3: have a tough time pitching through things and are constantly hurt.
- 7:58Speaker 3: But to me, I love this. They have six guys. Guys,
- 8:01Speaker 3: do you want to go to a six man rotation?
- 8:03Speaker 1: No?
- 8:04Speaker 3: Why? Because we all don't like it. Who wants the piggyback?
- 8:07Speaker 3: You know what, We're not gonna put anybody in that spot.
- 8:10Speaker 3: We're all gonna piggyback. We're all going to shoulder this
- 8:12Speaker 3: load because we're a team together. I love every second
- 8:16Speaker 3: of this, and it has nothing to do with exactly
- 8:18Speaker 3: what happened to Dolander.
- 8:23Speaker 1: But also first we're live talking Sea Geek so tickets
- 8:28Speaker 1: ten percent off, territory ten promo code. What are we doing?
- 8:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna look at not just today cause there's some
- 8:33Speaker 1: day games, but also Thursday, as in tomorrow, White Sox
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yankees continue. So there's one tonight with k against Rodon,
- 8:40Speaker 1: but then there's another one on Thursday that you can
- 8:43Speaker 1: grab a ticket to I like this one. The Orioles
- 8:46Speaker 1: Mariners series Bradish Kirby tonight, and then you've got Chaine
- 8:49Speaker 1: Baz against Brian Wu on Thursday afternoon. That's a pretty
- 8:52Speaker 1: good sigure. It's the see that's Piggyback Eve. They call
- 8:58Speaker 1: it because that's Thursday, but for the first piggyback Piggyback Eve.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Crazy Dodgers mcclana Tawi's vision today.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but today I'm just no, no, no. I was talking
- 9:10Speaker 1: a lot about tomorrow because a lot of people catch
- 9:12Speaker 1: this at like five six o'clock Eastern or whatever, so
- 9:15Speaker 1: that game will already be just about over by then.
- 9:17Speaker 1: But that is a great matchup. We're gonna I'll talk
- 9:19Speaker 1: about that one later. Uh, Thursday afternoon, Joe Ryan against
- 9:22Speaker 1: Jack Lighter, Trey A Savage against Sonny Gray Thursday afternoon.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Sunny Great might get traded if they figure out the money.
- 9:30Speaker 1: And also a lot of the money's already be eaten
- 9:32Speaker 1: by the Cardinals. Yeah, so that could happen. And the
- 9:35Speaker 1: Phillies Mets series starts on Thursday, so that's a four gamer.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Yeah, the Mets have I mean, it's a bad pitching
- 9:42Speaker 3: matchup Nola versus Sean and Ayah, But the Mets have
- 9:47Speaker 3: the Phillies' number, so they've been able to pitch to
- 9:50Speaker 3: the Phillies lineup. It'll be interesting that might even be
- 9:53Speaker 3: a little bit of cash available in that series just
- 9:56Speaker 3: because of the fact that you can the Mets. The
- 9:59Speaker 3: Mets aren't going to be favored in that series, but
- 10:01Speaker 3: the Mets have had the Phillies number. Can the Phillies
- 10:05Speaker 3: offense break through against the Mets pitching staff that's not
- 10:08Speaker 3: doing very well?
- 10:10Speaker 1: Bingo, So go grab some seats. It's probably nice out,
- 10:14Speaker 1: or maybe you're in an area that's got a retractable
- 10:17Speaker 1: roof or a dome territory ten ten percent off seat
- 10:20Speaker 1: geek is the spot. Okay, make sure you click the
- 10:24Speaker 1: link in the description. That way, when you download the
- 10:27Speaker 1: app automatically, the code is there for you to grab
- 10:30Speaker 1: those seats ten percent off MLB tickets on seat Geek.
- 10:34Speaker 1: With over thirty five million downloads, it is the number
- 10:37Speaker 1: one rated ticketing app. Do you think there are pitchers
- 10:40Speaker 1: who are pissed and are just going along with the team,
- 10:44Speaker 1: or do you think genuinely they all got together and
- 10:46Speaker 1: it's a good camaraderie story. You guys were catchers, so
- 10:49Speaker 1: you managed all these guys and then you'd get the
- 10:51Speaker 1: combo where you get drinks with one of the pitchers
- 10:53Speaker 1: and he's like, yeah, I had to say that. Obviously
- 10:55Speaker 1: I don't want to do it.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Yeah, well, yes, they don't have a choice. I guarantee
- 10:59Speaker 2: there's someone not happy about it. I mean, I don't
- 11:02Speaker 2: know who that is, but there's someone that's not going
- 11:03Speaker 2: to be happy about it. Again, what happens if this
- 11:05Speaker 2: goes past the All Star break and they have to
- 11:08Speaker 2: do this for we can do this the rest of
- 11:10Speaker 2: the year. So who gets to be the piggybacker? Who
- 11:14Speaker 2: gets to be the second guy? Because they're only going
- 11:15Speaker 2: to get if they go five and four, right, or
- 11:18Speaker 2: let's say that they're the starter goes five and then
- 11:20Speaker 2: the piggybacker only gets three because they got to bring
- 11:22Speaker 2: munios into finishing game. Although they do that from the manager,
- 11:29Speaker 2: I agree, but also also the piggyback guy is going
- 11:32Speaker 2: to be like, man, I only got three innings in
- 11:34Speaker 2: ten days. That's not my normal reps. And then do
- 11:37Speaker 2: you move the piggyback guy around?
- 11:42Speaker 1: Do you take it through the All Star break? And
- 11:45Speaker 1: then if you're still in that spot, make a change
- 11:47Speaker 1: and see who isn't pitching well, and then do them.
- 11:50Speaker 2: You have to.
- 11:50Speaker 1: So let's say, so should they do that?
- 11:51Speaker 2: Okay? So the last night logan, Gilbert pitch, you pitch? Really?
- 11:54Speaker 1: What? Yes?
- 11:54Speaker 2: Okay? And then I don't know who's tonight? Maybe Kirby's
- 11:57Speaker 2: killer Kirby. I don't know. I don't even watch tonight.
- 11:59Speaker 2: I don't know, right, So then let's say, let's say, okay,
- 12:02Speaker 2: Gilbert pitch great, Kirby pitches tonight, right, and then Luis
- 12:05Speaker 2: Castillo piggybacks. I'm just using him as example. Okay, I
- 12:08Speaker 2: don't know if that's what the plan is.
- 12:09Speaker 1: It's Kirby tonight. I just do one caveat. They're only
- 12:12Speaker 1: doing this three times before the all surve it's not
- 12:14Speaker 1: like every outing. They're only doing this during a few
- 12:18Speaker 1: different times.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Who's the starter, who's the piggybacker?
- 12:20Speaker 1: So the first one is on Friday and they say
- 12:23Speaker 1: it's random, but it happens to be Bryce Miller and
- 12:26Speaker 1: Louis Castillo.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Are they going to piggyback logan Gilbert and George Kirby
- 12:30Speaker 2: back to back?
- 12:30Speaker 1: I think on the same day I think.
- 12:33Speaker 2: On the same they're gonna do that. Why why would
- 12:35Speaker 2: you do that? If you're a team, those are your
- 12:37Speaker 2: two best starters, Well and Brian Wu. So you're gonna
- 12:40Speaker 2: take a start out of Brian Wo who could give
- 12:41Speaker 2: you six or seven innings, and then say you're only
- 12:45Speaker 2: going five today? Do because Bryce Miller, Luis Castillo, George Kirby.
- 12:51Speaker 2: That's dumb to me. If you have Logan Gilbert, you
- 12:53Speaker 2: have uh, Brian Wu, you have George Kirby, and those
- 12:58Speaker 2: are your three best starters. Okay, I want them pitch
- 13:00Speaker 2: it every fifth day because that gives me a better
- 13:03Speaker 2: chance to win over the long haul than saying Gilbert
- 13:06Speaker 2: in Kirby the same day.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Sorry, why not just have a six man rotation until
- 13:11Speaker 1: someone gets hurt?
- 13:11Speaker 2: Okay, fine, I'd rather have that.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I'd rather have that, right, I'd rather have that.
- 13:15Speaker 2: But these guys are used to pitch it on every
- 13:17Speaker 2: fifth day, and they prove and they can do it.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Dodgers do a six man it seems to work pretty fine.
- 13:22Speaker 2: But again, if you're if you're in and listen, Gilbert
- 13:25Speaker 2: and there are all great teammates for saying they'll do this, right,
- 13:27Speaker 2: But if you were This seems like it's to keep
- 13:30Speaker 2: one guy happy. And again I'm not there, But who's
- 13:33Speaker 2: the guy that's pitching the worst? Castilla Castillo's sorry. I
- 13:41Speaker 2: know he's been there, he's been great. For him this year,
- 13:42Speaker 2: he hasn't been great. Okay, so the other guys have
- 13:45Speaker 2: been good. Byan has been great obviously. I mean, here's
- 13:48Speaker 2: the numbers. The problem is you don't want to take care.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I mean there's five that I would say, all right,
- 13:55Speaker 2: I'd take those five and then Castillo sorry, dude, like
- 14:01Speaker 2: it's tough conversation, or do you go six six metation?
- 14:04Speaker 1: I would do six for now.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I would too, I wouldn't do Sorry, So you're gonna
- 14:07Speaker 2: tell Emerson Hancock is having a great year. By the way, Hey,
- 14:10Speaker 2: by the way, Castillo start to Emerson, you're gonna pitch
- 14:13Speaker 2: the last three four innings, maybe only three, maybe only two,
- 14:16Speaker 2: because let's say there's a lefty pocket and we need
- 14:19Speaker 2: Spire to come in and then moon News to come
- 14:21Speaker 2: into club.
- 14:21Speaker 1: They claim they're not gonna do that.
- 14:22Speaker 2: I think are they trying to win? I don't know
- 14:26Speaker 2: the teams that The only team I can remember ever
- 14:27Speaker 2: doing this was the Colorado Rockies and they sucked.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that was different. That was experimenting.
- 14:32Speaker 2: This is a good team with a chance to planning
- 14:34Speaker 2: to go to the World Series, and they're doing it.
- 14:37Speaker 2: I don't know, just my opinion, I'm probably wrong.
- 14:39Speaker 3: I don't think it is as glaring as we're making
- 14:43Speaker 3: it out to be, in the sense that it's not
- 14:45Speaker 3: like the Astros minor leagues back in back in the
- 14:49Speaker 3: late teams when they were going you have ten starters
- 14:54Speaker 3: on the team, you have two piggybacks every single day.
- 14:58Speaker 3: It's one piggyback one time through the order, then the
- 15:02Speaker 3: next time it's another piggyback. So it's not that big
- 15:06Speaker 3: of a deal. But I'm really confused as to why
- 15:09Speaker 3: they don't want to go to a six man rotation
- 15:11Speaker 3: the Dodgers. Everyone's will be like, well, the Dodgers do it.
- 15:13Speaker 3: The Dodgers also have two guys in a rotation that
- 15:16Speaker 3: are that have came up with six six six man
- 15:22Speaker 3: rotations in Japan, and you know, some of those stretches
- 15:25Speaker 3: go longer with off days. So I I wonder, I
- 15:30Speaker 3: wonder what the kickback was when that was discussed, because
- 15:33Speaker 3: to me, that's the route it even it even saves
- 15:37Speaker 3: some of your bullpen in my opinion, except you're one
- 15:39Speaker 3: man short in a bullpen, right.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I just like to clarify that the team getting together
- 15:44Speaker 1: with the players all that, Like, I thought that was cool,
- 15:46Speaker 1: but I agree with you, yes, Optimus.
- 15:48Speaker 2: So they're not going to sing no no. Can you
- 15:50Speaker 2: imagine if one of them said no, no man, I'm
- 15:52Speaker 2: doing that. Yeah, the other the other five guys would
- 15:54Speaker 2: be like, also.
- 15:57Speaker 1: It's five to one, we outruly you're doing it.
- 15:59Speaker 2: It doesn't matter.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and somebody said no, somebody said no to the
- 16:04Speaker 3: six man rotation.
- 16:05Speaker 2: In my opinion, no way.
- 16:06Speaker 3: They're like, holy cow, I can't believe Scott and Eric
- 16:09Speaker 3: brought up a six man rotation.
- 16:11Speaker 2: We should have thought of somebody said no to that.
- 16:14Speaker 1: That's true, that definitely.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Or was that Dan Wilson Or was that.
- 16:18Speaker 1: The starter saying, hey, I don't want to I don't
- 16:20Speaker 1: want to do the sixth.
- 16:21Speaker 2: But I'd rather have a five man rotation and pitch
- 16:23Speaker 2: four innings out of the bullpen, maybe less than started
- 16:26Speaker 2: in a six man.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Only they're doing it three, they're doing three piggybacks, so
- 16:30Speaker 1: it's one is it?
- 16:32Speaker 2: Always? Bryce Miller in the least guest to you, No.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Well, no, it's only going to be three guys that
- 16:36Speaker 1: have to come in later in a game and pitch
- 16:38Speaker 1: half a game.
- 16:38Speaker 2: And who are these guys? Tell me those three guys I.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Don't know yet. They're not telling us the whole schedule yet.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Yeah, when we get done with this, let's go back.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And see who.
- 16:46Speaker 2: The three guys at piggyback. Who are They're not bringing
- 16:49Speaker 2: Logan Gilbert into No, they're not. They're not. They're not
- 16:52Speaker 2: bringing George Kirby in in the fifth thing, I'm sorry,
- 16:55Speaker 2: sixth inning. Sorry, they're not bringing Brian Wu with his
- 16:57Speaker 2: injury history in the sixth inning? Nope?
- 17:01Speaker 1: Hand Yeah, I think they might do Wu. They did
- 17:06Speaker 1: it last year with him, didn't they when he came
- 17:08Speaker 1: in the playoffs?
- 17:09Speaker 2: They're gonna that's the playoffs is way different, I understand.
- 17:12Speaker 1: But it all right. Let's see. Let's see the arm
- 17:20Speaker 1: injuries for the Cubs are piling up, and we learned
- 17:26Speaker 1: about multiple harm injuries for them again on when on Tuesday?
- 17:32Speaker 1: So let's focus on Danny Plentia for a moment. This
- 17:36Speaker 1: is where things get interesting. So this is his second
- 17:38Speaker 1: I el stint Okay, but Patrick Mooney put an article
- 17:43Speaker 1: out saying that there was actually some tension when he
- 17:45Speaker 1: was pitching in the WBC. At one point pitched three
- 17:49Speaker 1: times in four days, high pressure moments. It was no joke, right,
- 17:53Speaker 1: you're thrust into it. The Cubs weren't thrilled. Venezuela was
- 17:56Speaker 1: pushing the Cubs, being like, Yo, this is our and hey,
- 18:00Speaker 1: they won. Most guys would trade any of that for
- 18:03Speaker 1: the world, and.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Said he would die on the mound for the Cubs.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Think about what he would do on the mound for
- 18:09Speaker 2: Venezuela more than that. Yeah, exactly.
- 18:12Speaker 1: So there there still is an article and it's worth
- 18:16Speaker 1: a discussion well, of course, and it could affect things.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Think about it next time we have a WBC. If
- 18:23Speaker 1: the Cubs have Polenty or some other high level arm
- 18:27Speaker 1: do you think they're gonna try and push a little
- 18:29Speaker 1: bit harder.
- 18:29Speaker 2: I think they did already because I remember talking to
- 18:32Speaker 2: Omar Lopez and we talk about this. He didn't give
- 18:34Speaker 2: a crap, and he's like, he said, look, when you
- 18:37Speaker 2: agreed to let this guy pitch, these were not the
- 18:40Speaker 2: rules that you gave me, and now you want to
- 18:42Speaker 2: change the rules. And he's like, that's not fair to us.
- 18:45Speaker 2: We're gonna pitch him. We're not gonna abuse him, but
- 18:48Speaker 2: we're gonna pitch him. And I don't know if that
- 18:49Speaker 2: was about Polentci or someone else.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Well, apparently yeah, he would get calls. Then they would
- 18:55Speaker 1: try to.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Do every guy gets every manager you talked to, Mark
- 18:59Speaker 2: DeRosso calls some thirty teams about every guy that were
- 19:02Speaker 2: using or not using. I mean, do you think cal
- 19:05Speaker 2: Rawley got like nine at bats in the WBC over
- 19:09Speaker 2: like a three week span. Do you think the marriers
- 19:10Speaker 2: were happy about that? They heard his oblique? Was it
- 19:12Speaker 2: because he only got nine at bats in spring training
- 19:15Speaker 2: during that time? I mean, there's there's a million ways
- 19:17Speaker 2: you can look at this. I just don't guys are
- 19:19Speaker 2: going to get hurt. When they get hurt, I'm sorry.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Support for today's episode comes from Square, and they've got
- 19:26Speaker 1: big news. During squares Biannual Releases event, they launched a
- 19:29Speaker 1: wave of innovative new tools to help local businesses run faster, smarter,
- 19:32Speaker 1: and more profitably. Square is awesome around Orlando, where AJ
- 19:36Speaker 1: and I live. We go to the farmers' markets around town.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I go to the one near Lake Iola. It's awesome.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I use Square to pay with my phone. I get
- 19:43Speaker 1: the receipt right away. It's great.
- 19:45Speaker 2: And so many businesses, not just small businesses, uses. So
- 19:47Speaker 2: many restaurants and businesses I walk into, not only in Orlando,
- 19:50Speaker 2: but all over the country have these and you just
- 19:54Speaker 2: use your credit card, pops out or receipt emails it
- 19:57Speaker 2: right too.
- 19:57Speaker 1: You.
- 19:57Speaker 2: It's so fast, it's so efficient, it's so hassle free.
- 20:00Speaker 2: It's one of the great things that you have going.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Square launched its most powerful tools yet, designed to give
- 20:05Speaker 1: local businesses a competitive edge without the complexity. If you're
- 20:08Speaker 1: ready to sell smarter, run faster, and stress less, right now,

- 20:17Speaker 1: Square dot com slash go slash foul. Run your business
- 20:20Speaker 1: smarter with Square. Get started today. Part of the reason
- 20:24Speaker 1: why Venezuela won is Omar Lopez said this kratz. Oh,
- 20:28Speaker 1: oh you want to change up the sorry phone service. Sorry,
- 20:34Speaker 1: And he even said it publicly. At one point, he
- 20:36Speaker 1: had some quote that I loved where he was just like,
- 20:39Speaker 1: don't care. I have a job to do. You don't
- 20:41Speaker 1: control this, like you can't actually force me to sit
- 20:45Speaker 1: your guy, and he didn't.
- 20:48Speaker 3: New phone who dis all WBC long look like stop.
- 20:54Speaker 3: I understand that the Cubs are pissed about this. David
- 20:59Speaker 3: Palencia has had a history of some injuries throughout seasons.
- 21:04Speaker 3: He is probably their best reliever now that Porter Hodge
- 21:07Speaker 3: is down, and even before that, and maybe he was there.
- 21:10Speaker 3: You know, I love this guy's energy. I love everything
- 21:13Speaker 3: that he brings. Giving him the opportunity to go and pitch,
- 21:18Speaker 3: the organization said, that's fine, you let him go, So
- 21:22Speaker 3: then let him go. Don't be a helicopter organization. Don't
- 21:25Speaker 3: come back. Like if he got hurt in August, would
- 21:28Speaker 3: they have been like, oh see, don'jo WBC. I feel
- 21:32Speaker 3: like it's I feel like it's soft. Could it be that,
- 21:35Speaker 3: you know, maybe your starters aren't going long enough and
- 21:38Speaker 3: you're not able to keep him healthy in the regular season,
- 21:41Speaker 3: But no, this is a super easy, easy, low hanging fruit.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Say yep, WBC. I think it's I think it's tired.
- 21:48Speaker 3: I think it's soft. I think it is something that
- 21:51Speaker 3: you have to deal with, and I think, honestly, Danny
- 21:54Speaker 3: Polinci is probably a better pitcher for pitching in WBC.
- 21:57Speaker 3: He knows what it's like to pitch in big games,
- 22:00Speaker 3: and he did really freaking well. I think he had
- 22:02Speaker 3: like nine punches and five innings Like that is that
- 22:06Speaker 3: is going to set your organization ahead once you make
- 22:11Speaker 3: it to the playoffs. Now obviously right now you need
- 22:13Speaker 3: to make it to the playoffs, and a healthy Palencia
- 22:15Speaker 3: would help that. But I just don't I don't agree
- 22:19Speaker 3: with the Cubs coming out and being like, oh, yeah, see,
- 22:23Speaker 3: this is what happens because the WBC is great for
- 22:26Speaker 3: players and it's great for the game.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Yeah, he's on the shelf with right elbow inflammation after
- 22:33Speaker 1: a strained left oblique earlier this season, and you know,
- 22:36Speaker 1: he didn't feel great a couple outings ago, so they
- 22:38Speaker 1: gave him four days. Then he popped back up on Monday,
- 22:42Speaker 1: punched out a few and I think a scoreless inning
- 22:45Speaker 1: in that win, the big comeback, walk off win. But
- 22:49Speaker 1: after that, again he was not in good shape and
- 22:52Speaker 1: they were like, all right, I l no MRI for now.
- 22:55Speaker 1: But the juicy part is it's not just you know,
- 22:59Speaker 1: Patrick Mooney, who you can into a Northside territory and
- 23:01Speaker 1: they'll have an episode on this, But it's not just
- 23:03Speaker 1: the story like he's taking quotes. Jed Hoyer runs the
- 23:05Speaker 1: front office. He said, we discussed at the time that
- 23:08Speaker 1: it wasn't the most comfortable thing for the Cubs, he said,
- 23:11Speaker 1: or the Brewers, because they were talking about Brewers. Guys.
- 23:13Speaker 1: There there's a lot of teams that were impacted by
- 23:15Speaker 1: the schedule, but there's no way to prove or disprove that.
- 23:17Speaker 1: As with any of the WBC stuff, is an unusual
- 23:20Speaker 1: ramp up for guys. It's an unusual time of year
- 23:23Speaker 1: to be doing what they're doing when guys get hurt
- 23:25Speaker 1: or guys underperformerly in the season. Whatever you ask those questions.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Okay, what happens if you would have got hurt in
- 23:32Speaker 2: spring training? That's why I did.
- 23:35Speaker 1: It. Just gives you a little look into how front
- 23:37Speaker 1: offices do this.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Yes, it's not so much they hate this even though
- 23:40Speaker 2: it's their huge money maker. Yeah, for their bosses, which
- 23:43Speaker 2: is MB and the owners huge money maker for them.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Their front office is like, well, you got a guy hurt.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Well, so think about this, right, Huge money makers get hurt.
- 23:53Speaker 2: All the time. No, guys get hurt. Tell me, guys
- 23:55Speaker 2: you around and got hurt in spring training in a meeting,
- 23:59Speaker 2: a meeting game, in an exhibition game. It didn't go
- 24:03Speaker 2: for the first.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Fifteen days of the season because I tweaked something doing
- 24:06Speaker 3: PFPS like it happens.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Kyle Teel hasn't played in a major league game.
- 24:12Speaker 4: That's not because of his hamstring though, Oh he had
- 24:14Speaker 4: something else and problem, right, So that's true. I will
- 24:19Speaker 4: let's say if he's running the bases in a spring
- 24:21Speaker 4: training game and the same thing, no doubt.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I hate going down this.
- 24:27Speaker 1: I hate going down they but front offices are doing this.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Can I tell you why? Because a front office leader's
- 24:33Speaker 1: job is to win games, period. He doesn't care how
- 24:35Speaker 1: entertaining the game is. That's the league's job to fix that.
- 24:38Speaker 1: And you're saying, oh, well, the Cubs owner, right, Ricketts
- 24:42Speaker 1: makes a lot of money off the WBC. Well, at
- 24:44Speaker 1: the end of the season, if the Cubs missed the
- 24:45Speaker 1: playoffs by a game or two, guess what he doesn't
- 24:48Speaker 1: care or think about the WBC. He goes, hey, Jed,
- 24:52Speaker 1: we missed the playoffs. That's not good.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Let me ask you a question, Yes, did somebody call
- 24:57Speaker 2: these games exhibition games? And that the World Series meant
- 25:00Speaker 2: more than these games?
- 25:01Speaker 1: You in the front offices.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Did someone say that? And two people on both sides
- 25:06Speaker 2: of me here, more than two just on the show
- 25:09Speaker 2: screamed that these are not exhibition games.
- 25:11Speaker 1: These matter more tournament games.
- 25:13Speaker 2: So now they so now which one matters more.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Scott for me? WBC?
- 25:19Speaker 2: Okay, then don't complain when the guys get hurt.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I'm not complaining. I'm the show goes bring up happening here.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I'm not complaining. Front offices are complaining, And if it's
- 25:30Speaker 1: up to them, they wouldn't.
- 25:31Speaker 2: They should cancel spring We should be like the NFL,
- 25:33Speaker 2: cancel all the games. Don't have the stars play at
- 25:35Speaker 2: all until the Like the NFL, the preseason games, the
- 25:38Speaker 2: quarterback and everyone plays. They played three plays. The quarterback
- 25:41Speaker 2: was hutting, hands it to the third string running back.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Answer to their hut throws a two yard out to
- 25:47Speaker 2: the fifth string receiver. All right, we got our we
- 25:49Speaker 2: got our game speeding already.
- 25:51Speaker 1: And then you say I didn't have a spring training exactly.
- 25:53Speaker 2: There is no win. There's people absolutely love WBC, and
- 25:58Speaker 2: I'm included. I absolutely love it. You do not make
- 26:01Speaker 2: excuses to try to get rid of it.
- 26:03Speaker 3: AJ doesn't love it. AJ thinks it's an exhibition. I
- 26:07Speaker 3: think it's real games, and I think everybody should play
- 26:10Speaker 3: in them. And as an organization, if you're a front
- 26:12Speaker 3: office playing for the even like the minor league team
- 26:16Speaker 3: USA stuff, your job is exactly what Scott said. To
- 26:19Speaker 3: win a World Series, you need to create an environment
- 26:22Speaker 3: where your best players are in environments where winning matters.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Because the minor league's winning does not matter. And if
- 26:30Speaker 3: you can tell me it matters, I would love to
- 26:33Speaker 3: see why, how or why it matters.
- 26:36Speaker 2: In the minor leagues.
- 26:37Speaker 3: You play your team, You play your prospects in a WBC,
- 26:41Speaker 3: in TMUSA stuff, in whatever it is, the pre Moon dial,
- 26:45Speaker 3: PanAm Games, Olympics, all that. Let them play and in
- 26:49Speaker 3: the long run your organization will be better for it.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Clubs opening day rotation, almost everybody has spent time on
- 26:58Speaker 1: the injured list alreadylmost everyone in their bullpen has spent
- 27:02Speaker 1: time on the injured list. Edward Cabrera has spent time
- 27:05Speaker 1: on the injured list and left yesterday's game with a
- 27:07Speaker 1: right hand cramp, So hopefully nothing serious there, but this
- 27:13Speaker 1: team's trying to find it.
- 27:14Speaker 2: They also can't hit except for one guy.
- 27:17Speaker 1: They can't hit her health, and then they look up
- 27:19Speaker 1: and they're like deja vous. The Brewers are forty four
- 27:22Speaker 1: and twenty six best seventy games start in franchise history. Damn,
- 27:26Speaker 1: they're super good again, even earlier this year than last year.
- 27:29Speaker 1: They're already soaring that starts to build up, and then
- 27:35Speaker 1: stuff like this comes out and becomes a bigger story
- 27:38Speaker 1: in Chicago. That's just how it works. North Side Territory
- 27:41Speaker 1: all over this story for you. So say Day Sharman
- 27:44Speaker 1: and Patrick Mooney. I just caught up with the other day.
- 27:46Speaker 1: They're great dudes, and they know ball. They know the Cubs.
- 27:50Speaker 1: They report on them every day in the Athletic and
- 27:53Speaker 1: multiple times per week on North Side Territory. Subscribe. Thank you.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what he said.
- 28:00Speaker 1: What he said, That's what he said. That's what he said.
- 28:05Speaker 1: We really haven't talked about John Fisher.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Much this year because I haven't really done anything.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Well, he's been in hiding, but now he's back. He
- 28:13Speaker 1: is out there for the world to see, and Evandrelic
- 28:16Speaker 1: wrote an article about him. As a ballpark rises in
- 28:20Speaker 1: Las Vegas, owner John Fisher is pitching his a's and himself.
- 28:26Speaker 1: So this is one of the biggest villains in sports, right,
- 28:29Speaker 1: But in this article there's quotes about how he regrets
- 28:32Speaker 1: hiding and he's trying to repair his reputation. Conveniently timed
- 28:37Speaker 1: that he needs to be well liked in Vegas. Selling
- 28:41Speaker 1: seats in Vegas will have a lot to do with
- 28:43Speaker 1: having a good relationship with the community, having a good
- 28:46Speaker 1: relationship with local businesses. Quote from John on his regret
- 28:53Speaker 1: to not be more vocal during some ridiculously tough times
- 28:58Speaker 1: as he stripped a same team he created, he crafted
- 29:02Speaker 1: it to a t. It's his team. Nobody else should
- 29:04Speaker 1: be blamed but him. That's where it starts. Quote. I
- 29:08Speaker 1: think people needed to hear from me. Not hearing from me,
- 29:12Speaker 1: I think led to frustration from Frankly the media like
- 29:17Speaker 1: who is this guy?
- 29:18Speaker 2: Is just an idea?
- 29:19Speaker 1: Who's the real John Fisher?
- 29:21Speaker 2: What about the fans?
- 29:22Speaker 1: He actually said, like who is this guy? Is he hiding?
- 29:24Speaker 1: Who's the real John Fisher? So now he that's the
- 29:27Speaker 1: end of the quote. Now he emerges with a two
- 29:30Speaker 1: billion plus dollar ballpark that should be open in twenty
- 29:33Speaker 1: twenty eight, and he needs to get press and locals
- 29:35Speaker 1: and all of that involved, and he does actually have
- 29:38Speaker 1: a big problem that the article gets into where the
- 29:41Speaker 1: surrounding area is not getting built up. So the ballpark
- 29:44Speaker 1: is hopefully going to be up by twenty twenty eight,
- 29:47Speaker 1: the latest twenty twenty nine, there's nothing else being built
- 29:49Speaker 1: around it, So which is Yeah, there's you can read.
- 29:53Speaker 1: I'm not going to do too much of this, not
- 29:55Speaker 1: based on not talking about I just don't have all
- 29:57Speaker 1: the facts of the way Evans article us. But Bally's,
- 30:01Speaker 1: the casino operator, has control of that area, but they
- 30:06Speaker 1: have all these other projects they're working on, and it
- 30:08Speaker 1: sounds like they don't really know if they're sure that
- 30:10Speaker 1: that's going to be a worthwhile multi billion dollar investment
- 30:13Speaker 1: to build all around the ballpark there, So they might
- 30:17Speaker 1: have to create some action there themselves aside from the game. Anyway,
- 30:21Speaker 1: let's get back to the key point here. John Fisher
- 30:24Speaker 1: regrets the way that he was handling ditching a city,
- 30:29Speaker 1: and he didn't really mention the fans. He mentioned the media.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Yeah, there's not even anywhere to start with this.
- 30:41Speaker 1: There's the whole thing is just why now, John?
- 30:44Speaker 2: Yes, But what he's like, Oh, I regret the way
- 30:47Speaker 2: the media wonders the fans were the ones clamoring and
- 30:50Speaker 2: he never did anything. He always had what was the
- 30:52Speaker 2: guy's name that he had running around for him the
- 30:54Speaker 2: whole time.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Oh, Dave Cabal. He's gone right, Yeah, he's gone weird.
- 30:59Speaker 1: So that was his.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Now he has now better people telling him that he
- 31:02Speaker 2: should talk to people like to you know what he needs.
- 31:05Speaker 2: He needs sweet sold because apparently that ballpark has a
- 31:08Speaker 2: lot of sweets because it's Vegas. So he's hoping that
- 31:10Speaker 2: all the casinos will see him and say, oh, this
- 31:13Speaker 2: guy's not that bad. We can buy a suite from
- 31:15Speaker 2: him for the whole season every year for the next
- 31:17Speaker 2: twenty years, and then they don't care if the people
- 31:21Speaker 2: come or not.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Correct. There's a lot of competition too, and the article
- 31:24Speaker 1: gets into how they're going to be so heavily reliant
- 31:27Speaker 1: on attracting tourists who want to see other teams, which
- 31:31Speaker 1: always kind of bothers me, like, you want that for sure,
- 31:33Speaker 1: but the Golden Knights don't do that. No, the Goldens
- 31:36Speaker 1: been to a Knight's game.
- 31:37Speaker 2: They're awesome.
- 31:38Speaker 1: They've got the community, yes, because they were an expansion team.
- 31:41Speaker 1: The problem is he's not going to be the face
- 31:45Speaker 1: of this team and the way that you want him
- 31:47Speaker 1: to be it's it's just not going to happen. You're
- 31:49Speaker 1: not going to take the reputation of this guy from
- 31:51Speaker 1: that to hey, come see me at the ballpark.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Right.
- 31:56Speaker 1: So, what most people in Vegas want, I guarantee you
- 32:01Speaker 1: this if you pulled them, is new ownership. They want
- 32:04Speaker 1: new ownership, preferably, they'd like the team to be called
- 32:07Speaker 1: something else. They wanted to feel like it's Vegas. So
- 32:10Speaker 1: he's already so far behind on that front, doesn't care.
- 32:16Speaker 1: But now he is trying to give anyone that has
- 32:19Speaker 1: any type of publication a tour of the ballpark. We
- 32:22Speaker 1: should reach out and ask him. See, if you really want,
- 32:26Speaker 1: then he should come on our show and talk to us.
- 32:28Speaker 1: The thing is, it's one thing to say. It's one
- 32:30Speaker 1: thing to say, Hey, I regret that I went in
- 32:34Speaker 1: hiding while I was stripping the city of a team. Okay,
- 32:39Speaker 1: but now let's talk about it. He just wants to
- 32:41Speaker 1: talk about but now I'm here in Vegas. And in
- 32:44Speaker 1: the article Kratz, there's a later part. It's a long
- 32:46Speaker 1: article where he essentially says, I'm paraphrasing well enough that
- 32:50Speaker 1: he feels like these are his people now and he
- 32:52Speaker 1: didn't you know, like he can say hi to everyone
- 32:54Speaker 1: in Vegas and all of that, Like he's all chummy
- 32:57Speaker 1: with the Vegas people, and that wasn't really a thing
- 32:59Speaker 1: for him to Oakland, Like I connect with this this group,
- 33:03Speaker 1: that that other group, now that that wasn't really working
- 33:06Speaker 1: for me.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Choosing to connect, Yeah, you're choosing connect.
- 33:10Speaker 3: There's because you think that they're going to bend the
- 33:13Speaker 3: need to you and make all this money that you're
- 33:16Speaker 3: gonna then bounce, Like people in Vegas are gonna understand
- 33:19Speaker 3: this guy's going to bounce out of there, and are
- 33:22Speaker 3: they willing to not take the team away, but just
- 33:26Speaker 3: once he goes there, builds up a franchise value that
- 33:29Speaker 3: he feels like he couldn't do in Oakland, and then
- 33:31Speaker 3: sell the team. So it'll happen, they'll sell the team.
- 33:34Speaker 3: But my thing is like Evan Drelix always writing articles
- 33:38Speaker 3: where Rob is Rob Manfred is giving quotes. This is
- 33:43Speaker 3: one hundred percent Rob saying Hey, you need to talk
- 33:47Speaker 3: to somebody because we need to drum up some drum
- 33:50Speaker 3: up some life for this. Because before they actually broke around,
- 33:54Speaker 3: you would go to Vegas and you would see nothing
- 33:58Speaker 3: nothing about coming.
- 34:01Speaker 2: I don't know now you have friends. I have friends
- 34:04Speaker 2: of living Vegas. They they don't even They're like, we
- 34:07Speaker 2: don't even care they live. They're from there, they live
- 34:10Speaker 2: there the whole life. I'm going there in September, John,
- 34:13Speaker 2: give me a tour. Let's sit down and do an
- 34:15Speaker 2: interview like it has that.
- 34:18Speaker 3: That's what it has to be if you want to
- 34:20Speaker 3: be part of the community, like he said at the
- 34:22Speaker 3: end of the article, part of the community, when what
- 34:25Speaker 3: he really means is the owners of the hotels are
- 34:27Speaker 3: the only people who really wants to talk to. Hopefully
- 34:29Speaker 3: they can get into the stadium. But if you want
- 34:31Speaker 3: to be in the community, be in the community, like
- 34:34Speaker 3: be there, be accessible, be make your organization like, hey,
- 34:39Speaker 3: you know what, I know, we're only gonna be We're
- 34:41Speaker 3: gonna be here in three years. But we want to
- 34:44Speaker 3: we want to put down roots here. We want to
- 34:46Speaker 3: be part of the community. And it's nothing. It's crickets
- 34:50Speaker 3: out there. When the when the Uh, when the Raiders
- 34:53Speaker 3: went there, there was the Raiders are coming, when the
- 34:56Speaker 3: when the Golden Knights were starting there, when they were
- 34:59Speaker 3: starting their and they were going to have a hockey
- 35:02Speaker 3: team there, there was preliminary stuff. It's crickets out there
- 35:06Speaker 3: right now, and it's just it's just a zero feel
- 35:09Speaker 3: outcome that's happening right now. And I feel bad for
- 35:13Speaker 3: I feel bad for ACE fans continually through this, but
- 35:16Speaker 3: I feel bad for what is going to be there.
- 35:19Speaker 3: And hopefully somebody comes along and can help this situation,
- 35:23Speaker 3: because Baseball needs a team that is not a that
- 35:26Speaker 3: is not a revenue sucker because they're going to such
- 35:31Speaker 3: a tiny, tiny market.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Yeah, if Baseball had the choice, this would not be
- 35:36Speaker 1: the guy leading the charge there.
- 35:37Speaker 2: So, but they can't force them to sell the team.
- 35:40Speaker 2: So instead, so instead of forcing his hand to get
- 35:44Speaker 2: rid of the team when he was still in Oakland
- 35:45Speaker 2: before moving them, now they're like, hey, hey Fish, we
- 35:49Speaker 2: love you, John, You're our buddy. Now we'll let you
- 35:52Speaker 2: get a new stadium in Vegas and sell the team
- 35:54Speaker 2: for two or three times the amount after we miss
- 35:57Speaker 2: games because we're going to try and force the league
- 35:59Speaker 2: to get a seller account. So John, you're gonna make
- 36:01Speaker 2: out like a bandy job.
- 36:02Speaker 1: That's right to me. The analogy that comes to mind
- 36:06Speaker 1: so many people that you follow on a platform like Instagram,
- 36:10Speaker 1: Actually we'll get together, Like there's people that do this
- 36:15Speaker 1: with their Like let's say you're someone that's not around
- 36:17Speaker 1: your family or certain friends much. They'll do photo shoots
- 36:20Speaker 1: and then they'll use those photos throughout the year on
- 36:22Speaker 1: social media platforms. To me, that's like John Fisher suddenly appearing.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Now take a picture. I'm at the ballpark. I'm with
- 36:28Speaker 1: the construction workers. It's every day, John, It's every day John.
- 36:33Speaker 1: We're gonna hang out at the ballpark every day together,
- 36:35Speaker 1: just you and me. We're gonna talk ball, We're gonna
- 36:38Speaker 1: watch iroon Judge hit home runs here. It's gonna be awesome.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Come on, come to the ball Sacramento right.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Now, exactly. But the thing is, if you're gonna say,
- 36:49Speaker 1: oh I did that wrong whatever, you need to actually
- 36:53Speaker 1: talk about everything right, just being like, oh I should
- 36:55Speaker 1: have been more vocal. But anyway, Vegas, and here's what's
- 37:00Speaker 1: going to happen, Like no, no, no, dude, no one's
- 37:02Speaker 1: heard from you. You got to go backwards first and
- 37:05Speaker 1: start moving up. Not just oh, well, we didn't have
- 37:08Speaker 1: a good relationship and I did everything I could and
- 37:10Speaker 1: it didn't work out. That just doesn't work. So he's
- 37:15Speaker 1: learning we all grow through this journey of life, and
- 37:19Speaker 1: his lesson was, maybe I should be more vocal. It's
- 37:23Speaker 1: not true that was completely coordinated. And now he's coming
- 37:26Speaker 1: out because he needs the people. So I would love
- 37:30Speaker 1: for him to prove us wrong, but I doubt it.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Good article, though, Check it out. It's a long one,
- 37:38Speaker 1: shall we slap? We have a few extra minutes than usual,
- 37:53Speaker 1: so I just have a bunch of quick hitters to
- 37:55Speaker 1: throw at you guys. So first off from yesterday. We
- 38:01Speaker 1: started off the show on Tuesday saying we actually have returns,
- 38:06Speaker 1: not just injuries suck. Well, some of those returns went
- 38:09Speaker 1: really well. Drake Baldwin, first swing, first swing back, Wait,
- 38:16Speaker 1: homer four hundred and seventy three foot nuke to deep central,
- 38:22Speaker 1: through the rain, through the rain. Wow, that was the swing.
- 38:27Speaker 1: That was the longest home run hit this year. And
- 38:30Speaker 1: the other two behind him are Vegas and Sacramento homers.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Those zone Countscott, I'm just I didn't say. I'm just
- 38:38Speaker 1: saying those are Vegas and Sacramento homers. I mean his
- 38:44Speaker 1: was in elevation too, right, That's been the thing lately,
- 38:47Speaker 1: third highest ballpark, right, Yes, so that was good return.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Did you see Hunter Brown the pitch fel Day won
- 38:56Speaker 1: pitched well one a little rocky first time through, and
- 38:59Speaker 1: then he looked exactly like Hunter Brown. Niner Diaz came
- 39:05Speaker 1: back to mm hmm. Astros won for two. They're four
- 39:10Speaker 1: games back, first, four games back up, first place, not
- 39:14Speaker 1: the wild card, the division.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Just I'll be there on Saturday. All that's Joe Spotter.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Report back for us on Monday on what's going on there?
- 39:24Speaker 2: And I play the Guardians. I get it. I can
- 39:26Speaker 2: get it. I can get both, I can get both
- 39:28Speaker 2: sides of it.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Exactly a couple other things we did learn of an
- 39:34Speaker 1: injury or to Brad Keller right after our show. Put
- 39:37Speaker 1: on the il right forearm tendonitis for the fight and phils.
- 39:43Speaker 1: On the positive side, there's the tweet by the way
- 39:46Speaker 1: for mac help. On the positive side, do you know
- 39:48Speaker 1: who else was activated that I think will be very
- 39:50Speaker 1: helpful for a team that I keep liking more than most.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Ryan Helsley is back. Oh that's a good one too.
- 39:56Speaker 1: I was going to get to him. Ryan Helsley's back
- 39:58Speaker 1: for the Orioles. That's importan And yes we can get
- 40:01Speaker 1: to cal first game back. The key hit.
- 40:08Speaker 2: WBC is a real thing. It is it just you
- 40:11Speaker 2: just had to get recovered from the WBC.
- 40:14Speaker 1: I think he's gonna have a good run now. And
- 40:17Speaker 1: he was hurt. He was playing hurt mhm, remember though,
- 40:20Speaker 1: bleak and he's trying to right before he went on
- 40:23Speaker 1: the shelf in mid May, remember he skipped a throw.
- 40:26Speaker 1: He was like needed to take a little breather. You
- 40:31Speaker 1: know what that's like?
- 40:34Speaker 2: Welcome back, yep, he jes.
- 40:39Speaker 1: He never do you guys know who stole the show yesterday?
- 40:44Speaker 2: Oh?
- 40:45Speaker 1: Joshua will Baiaz.
- 40:47Speaker 2: What's that?
- 40:48Speaker 1: He is one of the top hitting prospects in the
- 40:50Speaker 1: sport for the Cardinals. Four homers, I mean, it's.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Cool, but as krauts one said, I hit you Grand
- 40:59Speaker 2: slams in the triple. It doesn't count.
- 41:01Speaker 1: It does not count. But the Cardinals can swing the
- 41:05Speaker 1: bats if they have another one coming. Makes things a
- 41:10Speaker 1: little bit more interesting for a team that's in a
- 41:13Speaker 1: platoff race right now. So those were a few observations.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Oh and Aaron Ashby's ten and O on on pace
- 41:20Speaker 1: for a twenty and oh season. Can you imagine how
- 41:23Speaker 1: the old Ashby goes twenty.
- 41:25Speaker 2: And oh think they signed it with that deal?
- 41:27Speaker 1: Just shits all over wins twenty and oh you'll look
- 41:31Speaker 1: back in the record books one day like, hey there
- 41:33Speaker 1: was a picture that went twenty and oh oh, let's
- 41:35Speaker 1: learn about them inning inning and the set bothnybe, that's incredible.
- 41:44Speaker 1: He keeps doing it ten and O.
- 41:47Speaker 2: It's also when they put him in the game. Right,
- 41:52Speaker 2: there's situations to it. But there's also by the way,
- 41:56Speaker 2: Frombert pitted really well last night. I know we're not
- 41:58Speaker 2: going to talk about it, but no, we can it
- 42:00Speaker 2: really well against Houston.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Last night, Promer pitched well, yes, was gonna be batting,
- 42:11Speaker 1: relived last year's magic.
- 42:13Speaker 2: What do you hit him? What are you thrown at him?
- 42:15Speaker 2: We already did. I wanted to see sALS are headed, dagger.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Friendly fire. As they say, all right, kratsats what do
- 42:23Speaker 1: you got for us?
- 42:25Speaker 3: I mean Dane Dunning and Team Korea. I usually try
- 42:30Speaker 3: to figure out one person, but I like the k
- 42:32Speaker 3: I should wear this hat more.
- 42:34Speaker 2: People be like, wow, you got your own hat.
- 42:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's actually my hat, okay for.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Eric, I like the font on that.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Yeah. And also young is the hottest guy in the world.
- 42:45Speaker 1: I just was but this but this thing this thing that, Yeah,
- 42:52Speaker 1: I his numbers as you were saying.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Deep again today he's on fire. I wish I would
- 42:58Speaker 2: have known about that. Do you just see me? The
- 43:00Speaker 2: whole game one?
- 43:02Speaker 1: He's a fun player to watch, sitting like three something.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Nice.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Giants fans were like, I've had it with this guy
- 43:10Speaker 1: and now they're like.
