- 0:02But few can look beyond the present state or overleap this
- 0:06matted hedge of sense. All that transpires on Earth and
- 0:11all beyond are parts of an illimitable plan the one keeps
- 0:16in his heart and knows alone. Our outward happenings have
- 0:22their seed within, and even this random fate that imitates
- 0:27chance. This mass of unintelligible
- 0:31results are the dumb graph of truths that work unseen.
- 0:37The laws of the unknown create the known.
- 0:40The events that shape the appearance of our lives are a
- 0:44cipher of subliminal quiverings, which, rarely we surprise or
- 0:49vaguely feel, are an outcome of suppressed realities that hardly
- 0:54rise into material day. They are born from the spirit
- 0:59sun of hidden powers, digging a tunnel through emergency.
- 1:05But who shall Pierce into the cryptic gulf and learn what deep
- 1:10necessity of the soul determined casual deed and consequence
- 1:16absorbed in a routine of daily acts, our eyes are fixed on an
- 1:20external scene. We hear the crash of the wheels
- 1:24of circumstance and wonder at the hidden cause of things.
- 1:30Yet a foreseeing knowledge might be ours if we could take our
- 1:34spirits stand within, if we could hear the muffled demon
- 1:39voice. Too seldom is the shadow of what
- 1:42must come cast in an instant on the secret sense which feels the
- 1:48shock of the invisible, and seldom in the few who answer
- 1:52give the mighty process of the cosmic will communicates its
- 1:57image to our sight, identifying the world's mind with ours.
- 2:03Our range is fixed within the crowded arc of what we observe
- 2:07and touch and thought can guess, and rarely dawns the light of
- 2:13the unknown Waking in us the prophet and the seer.
- 2:20The outward and the immediate are our field.
- 2:23The dead past is our background and support.
- 2:27Mine keeps the soul prisoner. We are slaves to our acts.
- 2:32We cannot free our gaze to reach Wisdom's son, inheritor of the
- 2:37brief animal mind. Man, still a child in nature's
- 2:42mighty hands in the succession of the moments, lives to a
- 2:46changing present is his narrow right.
- 2:50His memory stares back at a phantom past.
- 2:54The future flees before him. As he moves, he sees imagined
- 2:59garments, not a face. Armed with a limited, precarious
- 3:03strength, he saves his fruits of work from adverse chance.
- 3:09A struggling ignorance is his wisdom's mate.
- 3:13He waits to see the consequence of his acts.
- 3:16He waits to weigh the certitude of his thoughts.
- 3:20He knows not what he shall achieve, or when.
- 3:24He knows not whether at last he shall survive or end like the
- 3:30Mastodon and the sloth, and perish from the earth where he
- 3:35was king. He is ignorant of the meaning of
- 3:38his life. He is ignorant of his high and
- 3:41splendid fate. Only the immortals on their
- 3:45deathless heights, dwelling beyond the walls of time and
- 3:49space, masters of living free from the bonds of thought, who
- 3:55are overseers of fate and chance and will.
- 3:58And experts of the theorem of world need can see the idea.
- 4:03The might that change time's course come maimed with the
- 4:08light from undiscovered worlds. Here, while the world toils on
- 4:14with its deep blind heart. The galloping hooves of the
- 4:18unforeseen event, bearing the superhuman rider near and
- 4:25impassive to earth's din and startled cry, return to the
- 4:30silence of the hills of God. As lightning leaps, as Thunder
- 4:35sweeps, they pass and leave their mark on the trampled
- 4:39breast of life above the world. The world creators stand in the
- 4:45phenomenon. See its Mystic source.
- 4:48These heed not the deceiving outward play.
- 4:51They turn not to the moment's busy tramp, but Lizen with the
- 4:56still patience of the unborn, for the slow footsteps of far
- 5:01destiny, approaching through huge distances of time, unmarked
- 5:07by the eye that sees effect and cause unheard mid the clamour of
- 5:12the human plane. Attentive to an unseen truth,
- 5:16they seize as sound as of invisible auger wings, voices of
- 5:21an unplumbed significance, mutterings that brewed in the
- 5:25core of matter's sleep. In the heart's profound audition
- 5:30they can catch the murmurs lost by life's uncaring ear.
- 5:35A prophet's speech in thoughts, omniscient trance above the
- 5:41illusion of the hopes that pass behind the appearance and the
- 5:45overt act behind this clockwork chance and vague surmise amid
- 5:52the wrestle of force, the trampling feet across the cries
- 5:57of anguish and of joy across the triumph, fighting and despair.
- 6:04They watched the bliss for which earth's heart has cried on the
- 6:09long road which cannot see its end winding undetected through
- 6:14the skeptic days, and to meet it guide the unheedful moving
- 6:19world. Thus will the mass transcendent
- 6:22mount his throne When darkness deepens.
- 6:26Strangling the earth's breast. And man's corporeal mind is the
- 6:30only lamp. As a thief's in the night shall
- 6:34be the covert tread of one who steps unseen into his house.
- 6:39A voice I'll heard shall speak the soul obey a power into
- 6:44mind's inner chamber steel a charm and sweetness open life's
- 6:48closed doors, and beauty conquer the resisting world.
- 6:53The truth. Light captured nature by
- 6:55surprise. A stealth of God compel the
- 6:59heart to bliss and earth grow unexpectedly.
- 7:03Divine In matter shall be lit. The spirits glow in body and
- 7:09body kindled. The sacred birth night shall
- 7:12awake to the anthem of the stars.
- 7:15The days become a happy Pilgrim March.
- 7:18Our will a force of the eternal's power and thought the
- 7:23rays of a spiritual sun. A few shall see what nun yet
- 7:28understands. God shall grow up while the wise
- 7:32men talk and sleep, For man shall not know the coming till
- 7:37its hour, and belief shall be not till the work is done.
