- 0:01Speaker 1: Peter Krandlin live on Sky News Australia.
- 0:06Speaker 2: I'll tell you what, Chris Kenny, I'm not the only
- 0:07Speaker 2: one in Australia who wishes that segment was longer. Those
- 0:11Speaker 2: two are incredible. All right, let's get into the program tonight,
- 0:13Speaker 2: Big show tonight of course, at big speech at seven
- 0:16Speaker 2: point thirty from Angus Taylor. Welcome to the program. Here's
- 0:19Speaker 2: what's coming up tonight on Credline, leaked details of his budget,
- 0:23Speaker 2: addressing reply reports of indexation on tax threshold and a
- 0:27Speaker 2: serious crackdown and immigrants accessing welfare or they are just
- 0:32Speaker 2: two of the things I said last night I really
- 0:34Speaker 2: wanted to see in this speech by the opposition leader.
- 0:37Speaker 2: What else We'll get to that in a moment. You'll
- 0:40Speaker 2: all be familiar too with Cel Grover, the woman who's
- 0:43Speaker 2: been locked in a protracted legal batter battle with a
- 0:46Speaker 2: transgender woman. So a biological male rock scene. Tickle well,
- 0:50Speaker 2: a big update on the case. Cell joins me later,
- 0:54Speaker 2: and also a push by the coalition on this issue
- 0:57Speaker 2: to rewrite a Gillard era wrong. Plus we'll go live
- 1:01Speaker 2: to Beijing as Donald Trump and Jijinping meets plenty of
- 1:05Speaker 2: pomp and circumstance, A lot to get across there on trade,
- 1:08Speaker 2: Taiwan Iran, Who's in and who's out of the Trump entourage.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Sky's US correspondent Jonathan Kurzley has traveled to China, will
- 1:17Speaker 2: speak directly with him. And the final sitting day of
- 1:21Speaker 2: the budget week with Labor again under pressure to explain
- 1:25Speaker 2: their big budget lie.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Will the Prime Minister rule out changing his mind about
- 1:31Speaker 3: taxing the family home?
- 1:32Speaker 4: Will the Prime Minister rule out changes his mind about
- 1:37Speaker 4: introducing a death tax?
- 1:40Speaker 5: Why is Labor pushing up rents for all Australians when
- 1:44Speaker 5: it promised not to.
- 1:47Speaker 2: We will stay with the liar, liar pants on fire.
- 1:50Speaker 2: I mean you want to know why people have lost
- 1:53Speaker 2: faith with politics in this country. This is why when
- 1:57Speaker 2: a big lie like this, can.
- 2:00Speaker 4: You rule out any changes to negative gearing and capital
- 2:03Speaker 4: gains taxes?
- 2:05Speaker 2: How hard is it for the fiftieth time becomes reality?
- 2:10Speaker 2: A clear, unambiguous lie like that. But now he even
- 2:14Speaker 2: has the Speaker of the House running a protection racket
- 2:18Speaker 2: for the Prime minister. Here is the Shadow Treasurer today
- 2:22Speaker 2: in question time.
- 2:24Speaker 6: Labor lie to Australians about plan Now I'm going to
- 2:28Speaker 6: deal with this issue. I'm not comfortable with that term,
- 2:31Speaker 6: and I refer to Speaker's ruling on the eighteenth of
- 2:33Speaker 6: February two thousand and two with the reference of parties lying.
- 2:38Speaker 6: So I'm just going to ask raised this yesterday. But
- 2:42Speaker 6: if we're going to have this term being used.
- 2:44Speaker 7: Speaker Causely, Deputy Speaker Cousely inform the member he cannot
- 2:48Speaker 7: refer to either political parties or individuals as being lies.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Well, we'll hang on there, because yesterday the Speaker's ruling.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Was very different practice yesterday. This is what you said yesterday,
- 3:05Speaker 3: Speaker Order, I just want to deal with the word lie.
- 3:09Speaker 3: We just want to make sure that he's not directed
- 3:11Speaker 3: to a person. Former speakers have directed it to parties.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Now that wasn't directed to an individual.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yep, that's exactly right. But now the Speaker appears to
- 3:26Speaker 2: be changing his mind from yesterday to today that was directed.
- 3:32Speaker 7: Now I've done further research because that you raised it
- 3:35Speaker 7: with me, I don't want that term used. And following
- 3:38Speaker 7: on from the research that I've done regarding referring to
- 3:42Speaker 7: political parties, I'm just going to ask for that to
- 3:46Speaker 7: be tempered.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Well, hang on there, said the opposition's House Manager Dan teen,
- 3:52Speaker 2: you have.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Referred to Deputy Speaker Causely. If you look at speakers,
- 3:59Speaker 3: speakers of a allowed this collective approach. And I think
- 4:03Speaker 3: it's really important that this parliament we don't get pressure
- 4:08Speaker 3: from certain people which then causes.
- 4:12Speaker 8: Changes, right, I think it's just really important.
- 4:15Speaker 3: It's actually true, it's actually tru seat.
- 4:19Speaker 2: So Dantean's right to preference the precedent from a deputy
- 4:26Speaker 2: speaker over a number of speakers, so more senior speakers
- 4:33Speaker 2: is pretty unusual now for those old enough to remember.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Deputy Speaker Causeley was a National MP from the Howard
- 4:40Speaker 2: era who retired twenty years ago. He comes from a time,
- 4:44Speaker 2: of course, when if a prime minister changed his mind,
- 4:47Speaker 2: he took that change to an election, as John Howard
- 4:50Speaker 2: did over the GST. But this is not how labor operates,
- 4:55Speaker 2: is it? Not labor and definitely not this prime minister.
- 4:59Speaker 2: So why this about face from the speaker. Yes he's
- 5:03Speaker 2: a Labor MP, of course he is, but he's generally
- 5:06Speaker 2: regarded as a good speaker. Again, the facts are not
- 5:11Speaker 2: in dispute. The Prime Minister lied' you've heard it. He lied.
- 5:16Speaker 2: The Prime Minister is a liar.
- 5:20Speaker 8: Negative gearing is off the table.
- 5:23Speaker 9: Yeah, it's off the table. Are you considering altering the
- 5:26Speaker 9: capital gains tax discount in this country? What we're considering
- 5:29Speaker 9: doing is handing down to Budget Andrew on the second
- 5:32Speaker 9: Tuesday in May.
- 5:34Speaker 8: So no CGT change.
- 5:37Speaker 9: Our focus, as I've said, is tax cuts.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Well, clearly now after this budget week, truth is a
- 5:46Speaker 2: casualty on the floor of the Parliament.
- 5:49Speaker 7: I was going to ask the House not to use
- 5:51Speaker 7: that term. I think that's in the best interest for
- 5:53Speaker 7: both sides.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Okay, So Wilson then has another.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Go labor misled, deceived, untruthed as to Australians of our
- 6:06Speaker 4: plans to tax them more. Well, the Prime Minister rule
- 6:11Speaker 4: out changing his mind about introducing a death tax.
- 6:18Speaker 2: It is a joke, but it got worse. Look at
- 6:21Speaker 2: how the Prime Minister reacts to this legitimate question from
- 6:24Speaker 2: Sydney MP Liberal Simon Kennedy.
- 6:28Speaker 10: To get ahead, the Prime Minister bought a property in
- 6:30Speaker 10: his twenties.
- 6:31Speaker 1: He claimed the CGT discount.
- 6:34Speaker 10: He negatively geared his way to a four point three
- 6:36Speaker 10: million dollar property in Copa Kabana. Now today the Australian
- 6:40Speaker 10: reports twenty out of twenty three of the labor cabinet
- 6:44Speaker 10: owns more than two properties they can continue to negatively gear.
- 6:49Speaker 10: Why are younger Australians being denied these very same opportunities
- 6:53Speaker 10: the Prime Minister and his cabinet colleagues continue to benefit from.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Now I want you to watch how indignant the Prime
- 7:03Speaker 2: Minister gets his glass jaw on full display.
- 7:08Speaker 9: That's what I did was buy a house in Marrickville.
- 7:13Speaker 2: And lived in it.
- 7:14Speaker 9: And what I've done now because I have publicly declared
- 7:21Speaker 9: got married last November. Jody and I. I note that
- 7:25Speaker 9: she is removed from the equation. Jody and I have
- 7:29Speaker 9: chosen to buy a home for ourselves for down the track.
- 7:35Speaker 9: That is what has happened, all declared.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Declared common alban easy. You don't get to play the
- 7:44Speaker 2: poor Housing commissioned kid card anymore, Not with a four
- 7:48Speaker 2: million dollar beach home that you rent out. Why all
- 7:52Speaker 2: of us cover your living costs? And then Son, Now
- 7:55Speaker 2: a lot said there about the old Marrickville home that
- 7:58Speaker 2: he owned with his ex wife, but not a word
- 8:01Speaker 2: about this, the home in Dulich Hill, the investment property
- 8:06Speaker 2: that he just sold for one point seventy five million
- 8:09Speaker 2: after evicting his longtime tenant Jim Flanagan, in order to
- 8:14Speaker 2: sell it now. At the time, Flanagan said he was
- 8:16Speaker 2: blindsided when his landlord, Albanisi sent him a letter to
- 8:21Speaker 2: kick him out. It wasn't as if Alberanzi needed to
- 8:24Speaker 2: move in there, was it. I mean then, as now
- 8:28Speaker 2: taxpayers are paying for Albanesi to have the run of
- 8:30Speaker 2: two five bedroom homes, the Lodge and Kirabilly House. Loved
- 8:36Speaker 2: so much she even had his wedding there. Now, as
- 8:40Speaker 2: I've revealed before, the Prime Minister doesn't pay for his food,
- 8:44Speaker 2: doesn't pay to get his house clean, to fill up
- 8:46Speaker 2: his car, to insure or registrate to get on a plane.
- 8:50Speaker 2: You pay for that. Heck, it doesn't even pay for
- 8:52Speaker 2: his own toothpaste or shampoo.
- 8:55Speaker 11: You do.
- 8:56Speaker 2: The pen on his desk, the phone bill, all of
- 8:58Speaker 2: it barely puts his hand in his own pocket. And
- 9:03Speaker 2: by God, though is it he's quick to put his
- 9:06Speaker 2: hand in yours. And it's not just in the billions
- 9:10Speaker 2: where you will find labor waste. It is everywhere. And
- 9:14Speaker 2: to understand just how much disregard they have for taxpayers,
- 9:18Speaker 2: have a look at this sent to me yesterday by
- 9:21Speaker 2: a good friend of mine who lives in Canberra. Out
- 9:24Speaker 2: and about she was. She came across this shop selling
- 9:27Speaker 2: ex government furniture, the stuff that the public servants don't
- 9:31Speaker 2: think is good enough for them anymore. Here it is
- 9:35Speaker 2: a second hand chair that they're trying to sell for
- 9:38Speaker 2: four hundred and forty dollars. But have a look again
- 9:41Speaker 2: at the price, because taxpayers paid seventeen hundred dollars for
- 9:46Speaker 2: that to put it in a public servant's office. Seventeen
- 9:51Speaker 2: hundred dollars for just one chair. He poured it from Italy.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Give me a break. Just like Paul Keating and his
- 9:59Speaker 2: lif of high end Zenya suits and antique French clocks.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Never get between a socialist and someone else's money. Anthony
- 10:09Speaker 2: Albanese is nothing but a class war hater.
- 10:14Speaker 9: I like fighting tories.
- 10:18Speaker 1: That's what I do.
- 10:20Speaker 12: That's what I do.
- 10:22Speaker 2: He's an unreconstructed trot and he is a liar. Now.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Unfortunately for him, I can't be shut down like the
- 10:31Speaker 2: Speaker because I don't rely on the Prime Minister for
- 10:34Speaker 2: my job like the Speaker does. I work for you.
- 10:37Speaker 2: That's my job. In the words of Don Chip, it's
- 10:40Speaker 2: to keep the bastards honest if they just told the
- 10:44Speaker 2: truth or that would be half the battle. All right,
- 10:52Speaker 2: let's get the headlines. It's been a pretty fiery day
- 10:54Speaker 2: in Canberra. Joining me in our political reporter Ribbon Spargo.
- 10:58Speaker 12: Opposition leader Angus Taylor tonight deliver his first Budget reply,
- 11:02Speaker 12: using the address to outline a welfare ban for non citizens.
- 11:07Speaker 12: Under a coalition government, new migrants would be barred from
- 11:10Speaker 12: accessing a range of support payments including the Age Pension,
- 11:14Speaker 12: Job Seeker and the NDIS. Anyone seeking access would first
- 11:18Speaker 12: need to obtain citizenship.
- 11:21Speaker 7: If you are not an Australian citizen, then you don't
- 11:24Speaker 7: get the privileges of an Australian citizen.
- 11:26Speaker 12: The opposition leader will also commit to automatically indexing income
- 11:31Speaker 12: tax brackets to reduce bracket creep. Independent Tasmanian Senator Tammy
- 11:36Speaker 12: Tyrrel has announced she's joining the Labor Party. The senator
- 11:39Speaker 12: was elected to Parliament under the Jackie Lamby network banner
- 11:43Speaker 12: before becoming an independent in twenty twenty four.
- 11:46Speaker 13: I'm not going to apologize to anybody for Johnny Labor.
- 11:49Speaker 6: On the sniff that she may not be re elected,
- 11:52Speaker 6: has jumped on the nearest life raft, which happened to
- 11:54Speaker 6: be a Labor Senate's seat.
- 11:56Speaker 12: The Federal Court judges found supermarket giant Coles engaged in
- 11:59Speaker 12: miss leading conduct through its Down Down Prices campaign. The
- 12:08Speaker 12: court found Cole's misled shoppers with false discount claims on
- 12:12Speaker 12: products including baby formula and butter.
- 12:15Speaker 14: These findings have increased to the transparency and delivered accountability.
- 12:22Speaker 12: The ruling leaves Coles facing potential penalties worth tens of
- 12:26Speaker 12: millions of dollars.
- 12:29Speaker 2: All right, as I said, in just over about an
- 12:30Speaker 2: hour an hour, Angus Taylor will get to his feet
- 12:33Speaker 2: and deliver his budget address. In reply, of course, the
- 12:36Speaker 2: forlloud continues for Labor over those lies. Joining me now
- 12:40Speaker 2: my panel Sky contributor Caroly kats and Barnas and former
- 12:43Speaker 2: Labor MP Michael Danby, Michael, I want to start with
- 12:46Speaker 2: the opposition's reply tonight. The leaks today that we've got
- 12:49Speaker 2: that they will crack down on non Australians accessing some
- 12:54Speaker 2: seventeen different welfare programs, age, pensions, disability support, the dolls.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Of course we know, Michael, there was huge blowback about
- 13:04Speaker 2: a month ago when we found out that fifty thousand
- 13:07Speaker 2: people non citizens here were accessing the first home buyer's
- 13:13Speaker 2: deposit scheme. Now, surely, if you want government money, you've
- 13:18Speaker 2: got to contribute to this country. But you've also got
- 13:21Speaker 2: to be a citizen, and you can apply to be
- 13:24Speaker 2: a citizen. But if you haven't bothered to apply, why
- 13:27Speaker 2: should people have worked all their lives hard have to
- 13:31Speaker 2: fund you.
- 13:32Speaker 15: They shouldn't. But people with the first time buyers scheme
- 13:35Speaker 15: who are earning, they might be different. The problem is
- 13:40Speaker 15: if they don't apply for citizenship or they're not earning,
- 13:43Speaker 15: they certainly shouldn't be eligible for schemes like that. There's
- 13:47Speaker 15: altogether too many immigrants a million people over the next
- 13:50Speaker 15: three years, and for fifty thousand people to be accessing
- 13:55Speaker 15: these kind of schemes is not fair to the contributing
- 14:00Speaker 15: Australian taxpayer. So it's got to be looked at very carefully.
- 14:04Speaker 15: Because we've got hard working immigrants.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Some of them are.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Becoming a citizen, Michael, a citizen.
- 14:10Speaker 15: They need to become citizens. But if they're tax paying already,
- 14:15Speaker 15: there are sometimes when they might be six months from
- 14:19Speaker 15: becoming a citizen and have a terrible accident.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Okay, wait for.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Six months, they will have emergency treatment. That's very clear.
- 14:27Speaker 1: You have to have emergency.
- 14:28Speaker 2: But just on this point, Carelly, we've got pensioners, sorry,
- 14:31Speaker 2: we've got self fun and tirees in particular. Pensioners obviously
- 14:34Speaker 2: have a different coverage for their PBS medicines. But we've
- 14:38Speaker 2: got people that have paid taxes all their lives that
- 14:41Speaker 2: have just had their private health insurance cut by the
- 14:44Speaker 2: government age sixty five or over. They've lost that extra support,
- 14:48Speaker 2: they had that extra Howard Era rebate. Now I've been
- 14:51Speaker 2: contacted by a lot of our viewers, many of them
- 14:53Speaker 2: are two thousand dollars out of pocket because of that change.
- 14:56Speaker 16: And it's disgraceful because we don't want Australia to be
- 14:59Speaker 16: the wealthare place that people just come to. You've got
- 15:01Speaker 16: to contribute. And as you say, i've heard the commentary
- 15:04Speaker 16: today people are saying, oh, people have been here ten
- 15:07Speaker 16: twenty years. Become a citizen. People have got to be
- 15:10Speaker 16: able to get back what they actually put into the
- 15:13Speaker 16: country as well. It is not good enough. It's just terrible.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Particularly when you become a citizen, Michael, you swear an
- 15:19Speaker 2: oath and hopefully you go through that ceremony and it
- 15:22Speaker 2: reminds you not just of your ribes in Australia. But
- 15:25Speaker 2: your response on psibilities.
- 15:27Speaker 15: I always used to emphasize that when I was doing
- 15:29Speaker 15: citizenship ceremonies at the Glenarah town Hall. But the point is,
- 15:33Speaker 15: don't we understand in the current climate that we need
- 15:37Speaker 15: to have incentives for people who are migrating to this country,
- 15:42Speaker 15: hopefully fewer of them so we can manage the housing
- 15:45Speaker 15: crisis to increase their loyalty to the country. If they
- 15:48Speaker 15: don't become citizens and that they're here twenty years, that's
- 15:51Speaker 15: really odd.
- 15:52Speaker 2: It is odd. Well, that was the case with the
- 15:55Speaker 2: dead Man, the killer. He's not alleged, design is alleged,
- 15:58Speaker 2: but the dead killer in relations into Bondai, he was
- 16:01Speaker 2: a longtime resident in this country but never ever became
- 16:05Speaker 2: a sor.
- 16:05Speaker 15: It almost sounds like a sleeper agent.
- 16:07Speaker 2: All right, let's go to an anniversary today. Forty years
- 16:12Speaker 2: ago Paul Keating said Australia must not never become He
- 16:17Speaker 2: said a Banana republic. Have a listen.
- 16:20Speaker 17: This government can't get the adjustment, get manufacturing going again
- 16:25Speaker 17: and keep moderate ways outcomes and a sense ofble economic policy,
- 16:29Speaker 17: and Australia's basically done for. We'll just end up being
- 16:32Speaker 17: a third rate economy. You know, a banana republic.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Now there you go. Here he is warning about becoming
- 16:40Speaker 2: a banana republic and his little fanboy Jim Chalmers is
- 16:44Speaker 2: actually delivering it.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Well.
- 16:46Speaker 15: Charmers thesis is only on Keating's parliamentary tactics, it's not
- 16:51Speaker 15: on his content. I wish they'd listened to Ferguson Kelty Keating,
- 16:55Speaker 15: all of these people from that period back then, and
- 16:58Speaker 15: Peter Walsh, you've got a cutback government expenditures. You've got
- 17:02Speaker 15: to have an industrial relation system that goes towards productive enterprises,
- 17:08Speaker 15: not to pattern bargaining. All of these things are going backwards.
- 17:12Speaker 15: That the best way of handling this budget would have
- 17:14Speaker 15: been to cut back some government expenditures. And the problem
- 17:17Speaker 15: Peter is we haven't even factored in the three percent
- 17:21Speaker 15: we need to have for defense. So where this money
- 17:24Speaker 15: is going to come from for that, I don't know.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I make the point I showed you a picture from
- 17:29Speaker 2: my friend. You know, a seventeen hundred dollars imported Italian
- 17:33Speaker 2: chair that's come out of a government office being sold
- 17:36Speaker 2: in Canberra.
- 17:37Speaker 16: That's disgraceful because that's our money, taxpayers money.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I mean.
- 17:40Speaker 16: The other thing is bracket creep. The public have been
- 17:42Speaker 16: calling for years to address bracket creep. Well that's the rumor,
- 17:46Speaker 16: that's the real It is the rumor, and I hope
- 17:47Speaker 16: that I hope that Angers Taylor goes hard with it,
- 17:49Speaker 16: because the thing is on indexation. Governments always index. They're
- 17:53Speaker 16: parking fines, speeding fines, other fines so that they get
- 17:56Speaker 16: the benefit for their bottom line, but the taxpayers don't.
- 17:59Speaker 16: And what I do quickly want to say is that
- 18:01Speaker 16: what this government is relying on it they're gas lighting
- 18:04Speaker 16: Australians every single day. People aged eighteen to twenty five
- 18:07Speaker 16: now will aged between ten and eighteen ten years ago.
- 18:12Speaker 16: I'm fed up of being gas lit. And you know what,
- 18:15Speaker 16: We heard that phrase Cal Richards explained it beautifully on
- 18:17Speaker 16: your show a few months ago about six seven. We
- 18:21Speaker 16: know that six' eight is the new. Thing AND i
- 18:23Speaker 16: want to introduce that new word For Kel, richards because
- 18:25Speaker 16: any young people in your lives start talking in their,
- 18:28Speaker 16: language because as we've, known there's no benefit with the
- 18:31Speaker 16: negative gearing for.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Them no.
- 18:32Speaker 16: Point charm is saying invest in new, housing buy a new.
- 18:35Speaker 16: House they can't buy a new. House i'm, saying.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Just on that let me pick up something that was
- 18:39Speaker 2: raised with, me and AS i teased it out with someone,
- 18:42Speaker 2: TODAY i, thought, gosh this is. True so if you
- 18:45Speaker 2: are an, investor you can't now buy an Established that's Rightety.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Garan so you pushed out to the house and land
- 18:51Speaker 2: package that the brand new, Properties well that's where most
- 18:54Speaker 2: first home buyers. Go so those first home buyers now
- 18:58Speaker 2: will face increase. Competition not only will those younger people
- 19:02Speaker 2: not themselves be able to negative, gear but everybody who
- 19:06Speaker 2: has negative gear will be. Grandfathered but they'll also face
- 19:10Speaker 2: increased competition out in the very place where they are
- 19:14Speaker 2: desperately trying to get a.
- 19:15Speaker 16: Foothold the latter has been pulled. Up and So i'm
- 19:18Speaker 16: speaking to a lot of young PEOPLE i work, With
- 19:20Speaker 16: i'm surrounded with. Them they're all it's slowly beginning to make,
- 19:24Speaker 16: Sense AND i just, say you've got to remember what
- 19:26Speaker 16: this government is. Doing they're not actually helping. You and
- 19:29Speaker 16: you know, what six eight Next july sixty, seven six,
- 19:33Speaker 16: eight that's what you've got to, remember because they're not
- 19:36Speaker 16: going to give you. Anything that tax cut is just
- 19:39Speaker 16: a complete. Insult and you know WHAT i Heard Richard miles,
- 19:42Speaker 16: earlier this week saying that we all need to evolve our. Thinking,
- 19:46Speaker 16: no we don't need to evolve our. Thinking they need
- 19:48Speaker 16: to start actually telling the. Truth they have lied to
- 19:51Speaker 16: The australian public absolutely disgraceful.
- 19:54Speaker 15: Fifty times, promise.
- 19:55Speaker 11: Well exactly?
- 19:56Speaker 16: Right what do they think we are.
- 19:57Speaker 15: These kind of things Like John howard did to an. Election,
- 20:00Speaker 15: sure you're an honorable and ethical. Person and this is
- 20:04Speaker 15: people who even agree with some of these readistributive ideas
- 20:07Speaker 15: are going to, say, well look he broke his.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Promise i'm not going to support.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Him, well just on. That i've got something here on,
- 20:13Speaker 2: Death jennie's let's play.
- 20:14Speaker 18: That.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Please will you hit on the family? Home be?
- 20:17Speaker 7: Next?
- 20:19Speaker 2: No people with? Respect how does anyone believe?
- 20:22Speaker 1: You no hit on the family homes coming?
- 20:24Speaker 8: Next is that what you're.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Saying, no we're not changing the arrangements when it comes
- 20:30Speaker 3: to the family. Home we're not changing arrangements when it
- 20:33Speaker 3: comes to things like.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Inheritances will you introduce a death?
- 20:37Speaker 1: Tax?
- 20:40Speaker 2: No but things, change don't? They as you're the treasure of,
- 20:43Speaker 2: Repeeddally so.
- 20:44Speaker 9: These are that these are the positions that we're put, In.
- 20:48Speaker 13: Sarah you've also said that things, change So how can
- 20:54Speaker 13: we leave him.
- 20:56Speaker 2: When you lose people's, Trust, michael doesn't matter what you
- 20:59Speaker 2: say from here year on in no one believes.
- 21:01Speaker 15: That this is not the keeping view of the, economy
- 21:07Speaker 15: the old.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Labors it's not the old.
- 21:08Speaker 15: Labor this is a socialist left, government and there Is
- 21:11Speaker 15: Jim chalmers is meant to be the. Opposition he's meant
- 21:13Speaker 15: to be a right labor. Person he's this also. WEAK
- 21:17Speaker 15: i wish there was some opposition to these kind of
- 21:19Speaker 15: economic policies in the. Government there, isn't and they'll just go.
- 21:22Speaker 15: Along that's what people are worried. About they'll go along
- 21:25Speaker 15: with further views of the hard line socialist. Left they
- 21:29Speaker 15: always wanted death, duty.
- 21:30Speaker 16: So they've lied to us the two seventy five, powervills
- 21:32Speaker 16: capital gains, tax, superannuation negative, gearing and The stage three
- 21:36Speaker 16: tax cuts that'll be. Next the two.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Fifty you're getting back to this year doesn't even cover
- 21:40Speaker 2: the two seventy five we should have. Had on your
- 21:42Speaker 2: powers six. Eight that's over my, head but, yes, Anyway
- 21:45Speaker 2: i'll leave it. There we'll go To beijing now BECAUSE
- 21:47Speaker 2: i want to get to that meeting today With Donald
- 21:49Speaker 2: trump And Jijing ping A cino pageantry on display as
- 21:53Speaker 2: the two leaders, met and they'll have a state, banquet
- 21:56Speaker 2: we're told later on. Tonight but let's get the update
- 21:58Speaker 2: on the substance of the day from Our washington Correspondent Jonathan,
- 22:03Speaker 2: cursley who JOINS us now From. Beijing, Okay, well this
- 22:08Speaker 2: was a real sort of pageantry display on sort of
- 22:10Speaker 2: The english royal family. Scale i've been there When china
- 22:14Speaker 2: has turned it on when we were there for The
- 22:17Speaker 2: Australia China Free Trade, agreement and it was that plus more.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Today what happened today and what's on the. Table what
- 22:26Speaker 2: do both countries separately want out of this, Visit, Jonathan, Well.
- 22:33Speaker 19: PETER i think we're now getting to the real nitty
- 22:35Speaker 19: gritty of, it because beyond all of the warmth and
- 22:37Speaker 19: the pageantry and the red carpet rollouts and the military
- 22:40Speaker 19: parades and the cheering school children that were designed to
- 22:44Speaker 19: Warm Donald trump's heart ahead of these, talks you don't
- 22:47Speaker 19: have to scratch very hard beneath the surface to find
- 22:50Speaker 19: the real substance and subtext.
- 22:52Speaker 8: Of what these two leaders wanted to talk.
- 22:55Speaker 19: About For China's president Shi, jingping it was fundamentally one
- 23:00Speaker 19: issue and that Was, taiwan WARNING Us President Donald trump
- 23:05Speaker 19: behind closed doors that if the Quote taiwan issue is,
- 23:09Speaker 19: mishandled then THE Us china relations could enter a very dangerous,
- 23:15Speaker 19: space warning of even conflict and. Clashes we've just had
- 23:20Speaker 19: the readout from The ministry Of Foreign affairs here In
- 23:24Speaker 19: china that Says taiwan independence and cross straight piece are
- 23:27Speaker 19: as irreconcilable as fire and, water describing The taiwan question
- 23:33Speaker 19: as the most important issue IN Us china. Relations we
- 23:38Speaker 19: Know china had wanted to talk about the so called
- 23:40Speaker 19: three t's and that is, trade tariff's And, taiwan and
- 23:45Speaker 19: it is firmly still that issue at the top of the.
- 23:47Speaker 8: List what we don't know yet is how THE.
- 23:49Speaker 19: Us president responded to, That so we are waiting for
- 23:53Speaker 19: the detail from The White house on that particular. Issue
- 23:55Speaker 19: but reading This ministry Of Foreign affairs readout that has just,
- 23:59Speaker 19: drop there is.
- 24:00Speaker 8: A level of warmth in it.
- 24:02Speaker 19: Too it goes on to talk about building a constructive strategic.
- 24:07Speaker 19: Stability beginning at the top of this, document it seems
- 24:11Speaker 19: stability is the key word of the day That Shi
- 24:14Speaker 19: jingping was trying to send a message that he And
- 24:17Speaker 19: Donald trump can stabilize this relationship look to stronger business
- 24:22Speaker 19: interests that, would in the words of the, readout boost both,
- 24:26Speaker 19: economies and that they should continue to work towards. That
- 24:29Speaker 19: but it is the fundamental issue Around taiwan That President
- 24:33Speaker 19: she has issued a very direct and stern warning. Over
- 24:37Speaker 19: so Ty pei will be watching this incredibly. Closely but
- 24:40Speaker 19: AS i, say the important aspect now is what did
- 24:42Speaker 19: THE us president say in. Response he's Had secretary Of
- 24:45Speaker 19: St Marco rubio very much firmly in his ear and
- 24:49Speaker 19: in his, corner somebody who has been a staunch critic
- 24:51Speaker 19: of The Chinese Communist party over its military, rise over its,
- 24:55Speaker 19: aggression over its, coercion.
- 24:57Speaker 8: Particularly In australia's own.
- 24:58Speaker 19: Backyard but when the two leaders sat opposite each other
- 25:02Speaker 19: inside The Great hall of The, people while there was
- 25:05Speaker 19: a markedly different. Tone So President trump was talking about
- 25:09Speaker 19: respect and, honor and For china's president he was raising
- 25:14Speaker 19: A greek theology idea that has been pushed down generations
- 25:19Speaker 19: of the danger of war between a rising.
- 25:23Speaker 8: Power and an already established.
- 25:25Speaker 19: Superpower here is some of what Both President she And
- 25:29Speaker 19: president trumpetersa.
- 25:31Speaker 18: Both china and The United states extend to gain from
- 25:35Speaker 18: cooperation and lose from. Confrontation we should be, partners not.
- 25:40Speaker 18: Rivals we should help each other succeed and prosper together
- 25:43Speaker 18: and find the right way for major countries to get
- 25:46Speaker 18: along well with each other in the new.
- 25:48Speaker 20: Era you AND i have known each other now for
- 25:51Speaker 20: a long, time in, fact the longest relationship of our
- 25:55Speaker 20: two countries that any president and president has, had and
- 26:00Speaker 20: that's to me an. Honor we've had a fantastic.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Relationship, Yeah, Jonathan i'm alive to the fact that in that,
- 26:08Speaker 2: room in all of these, diplomatic high stakes, engagements leader to,
- 26:13Speaker 2: leader there has to be some level of. Magnanimity but
- 26:17Speaker 2: what concerns me Is trump sort of gets his head
- 26:21Speaker 2: turned by being. Fated we've seen this on numerous, occasions
- 26:24Speaker 2: and we've seen it with. Dictators he likes to be
- 26:27Speaker 2: the big, man and he likes another big man to
- 26:29Speaker 2: treat him as. Us, fortunately though now they're at his
- 26:33Speaker 2: left hand Is, rubio who is an Absolute china, hawk
- 26:37Speaker 2: and he's about the only one at that table that
- 26:39Speaker 2: gives me confidence that in the, end the rule of
- 26:42Speaker 2: law and democracy and the things that we've all had
- 26:44Speaker 2: to say for the last thirty forty fifty years in
- 26:47Speaker 2: relation To taiwan could well.
- 26:49Speaker 19: STAND i think you're one hundred percent right, There, peter
- 26:55Speaker 19: because AND i think fundamentally that is Why Marco rubio
- 26:59Speaker 19: Is secretary Of state for the very reason of how
- 27:03Speaker 19: to counter and how to contend With. China the issue
- 27:06Speaker 19: that The White house may well have been worried about
- 27:09Speaker 19: this week is how Would President trump feel amid all
- 27:13Speaker 19: of the warmth and the glow that was deliberately being
- 27:16Speaker 19: pushed on him By shijingping and The China's Communist.
- 27:19Speaker 8: Party here it, is, yes protocol.
- 27:22Speaker 19: That that is how they welcome, leaders but there is
- 27:24Speaker 19: a fundamental reason That hijinping was doing that, here in
- 27:27Speaker 19: particularly taking him to The temple Of. Heaven then you
- 27:29Speaker 19: have somebody Like secretary Of State Marco, rubio who even
- 27:32Speaker 19: On Air force one on the way, over was essentially
- 27:34Speaker 19: reiterating the words Of america's national defense, strategy and that
- 27:38Speaker 19: is the challenges that are posed By china and the
- 27:41Speaker 19: issues that surround this very.
- 27:44Speaker 8: Nation Marco rubio.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Was, WELL i think the one, Lost, Jonathan they're, okay,
- 27:52Speaker 2: well we're just wrapping up, anyway but we'll watch that.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Closely there as A state banquet, tonight and of course
- 27:57Speaker 2: we'll have more to say in next couple of days
- 27:59Speaker 2: as to the out all right quick break after the,
- 28:02Speaker 2: break a big update for you in the ongoing legal
- 28:04Speaker 2: battle Between Cell grover And Roxane. Tickle plus this is
- 28:09Speaker 2: big news a bill set to be introduced into The
- 28:12Speaker 2: parliament to put the definition of sex back into The
- 28:16Speaker 2: Sex Discrimination. Act welcome. Back kit's that morning In. LONDON
- 28:24Speaker 2: i think it's on in relation To Kirs. Starmer we'll
- 28:27Speaker 2: get over there and speak To Sophie ellsworth a bit later,
- 28:29Speaker 2: on but, FIRST i know you're very familiar with my next,
- 28:33Speaker 2: Guest Cel, grover who's been locked in a protracted legal
- 28:36Speaker 2: battle With Roxanne, tickle a transgender. Woman so a biological
- 28:40Speaker 2: mail After ticker was banned from using sales women's only
- 28:43Speaker 2: social networking app back in twenty twenty. One Now tickle
- 28:47Speaker 2: alleged this was unlawful discrimination on the basis of a
- 28:50Speaker 2: gender identity under The Sex Discrimination, act Which i'll have
- 28:54Speaker 2: more to say on in a moment with my next.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Guest in two thousand and, four The federal court found
- 28:59Speaker 2: in Faate so twenty twenty, four The Federal court found
- 29:03Speaker 2: in favor Of Roxane, tickle finding she'd been indirectly discriminated
- 29:07Speaker 2: against as a trans. Woman. Now Cel grover then appealed
- 29:11Speaker 2: that decision to the Full bench of The Federal court
- 29:14Speaker 2: because of its implications for the rights of all women
- 29:18Speaker 2: and girls in this. Country, well TONIGHT i can report
- 29:21Speaker 2: that at two o'clock, tomorrow the Full bench of The
- 29:24Speaker 2: Federal court will deliver its long awaited verdict in this.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Case joining, me, now this incredible warrior for, Women giggle
- 29:32Speaker 2: For girls Founder Cel, GROVER i say so. WELCOME i
- 29:36Speaker 2: say you are a warrior for. Women BUT i know
- 29:39Speaker 2: that's not what you set out to. BE i know
- 29:42Speaker 2: you just started an app and you found yourself in
- 29:45Speaker 2: this very unlikely and very expensive position of not just
- 29:49Speaker 2: having a fight for your rights as a business, operator quite,
- 29:53Speaker 2: frankly that the rights of me and for every other
- 29:56Speaker 2: woman and girl in this country aheaded. Tomorrow how are you?
- 30:00Speaker 13: Feeling, Well, HONESTLY i feel Like i've given EVERYTHING i.
- 30:06Speaker 13: HAVE i went into a reality versus ideology fight with
- 30:11Speaker 13: facts and, reality AND i think we've done the absolute
- 30:15Speaker 13: best that we can. DO i, MEAN i would be
- 30:18Speaker 13: significantly more nervous IF i was trying to argue that
- 30:21Speaker 13: men could be. WOMEN i think that's a hard fight to.
- 30:23Speaker 13: Win but when you actually are just trying to re
- 30:27Speaker 13: establish the one of some of the most basic facts
- 30:30Speaker 13: that actually, exists you do get to a point where
- 30:33Speaker 13: where you know you've done everything to do, it and
- 30:35Speaker 13: you're a bit. Calmer AND i, mean this has been incredibly.
- 30:38Speaker 13: Difficult we have come up against every obstacle along the
- 30:42Speaker 13: way of getting people to understand how important this, is
- 30:45Speaker 13: of the political class dismissing it as just some nothing
- 30:48Speaker 13: culture war that like women are just expected to be
- 30:51Speaker 13: erased from law of institutional. Capture so you, Know i'm
- 30:56Speaker 13: proud of where we have. Gotten but this has been
- 30:58Speaker 13: four and a half years And i'm very much ready
- 31:00Speaker 13: to move on to the next.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Stage we know That roxannetickle's been backed by The Australian
- 31:06Speaker 2: Human Rights, commission so she's had the taxpayer funded heavies
- 31:11Speaker 2: in her. Corner how on earth have you managed to
- 31:14Speaker 2: fight this?
- 31:15Speaker 13: Case, WELL i have had tens of thousands of citizens supporting.
- 31:23Speaker 13: Me i'm very proud to represent people who are just
- 31:27Speaker 13: over being told what to, see what to, think being
- 31:31Speaker 13: told that they will be punished if they say. No
- 31:34Speaker 13: they just have to accept this ideology as, fact something
- 31:37Speaker 13: that they know is completely. Wrong i'm really proud to
- 31:40Speaker 13: represent them and the fact that we've been able to
- 31:43Speaker 13: do this basically with people. Power i'm completely. Crowdfunded there's
- 31:47Speaker 13: no institutional backing or crowdfunding for. Me it's giggle crowdfund
- 31:51Speaker 13: if anybody does want to, help because you, KNOW i,
- 31:54Speaker 13: mean lawyers aren't, cheap and especially a brilliant legal team isn't.
- 31:57Speaker 13: Cheap And i'm, very very fortunate to have a great
- 32:00Speaker 13: legal team that has gone in there and fought and
- 32:03Speaker 13: made sure that we can find a way to have
- 32:06Speaker 13: clarity in the. Law and this isn't about taking rights
- 32:09Speaker 13: away from. Anybody this is about establishing fact in the
- 32:13Speaker 13: law and the fact that women are a class of
- 32:16Speaker 13: people and that we are able to have women only,
- 32:20Speaker 13: spaces that we get a women only, sport that we
- 32:23Speaker 13: can just clear up all of this ambiguity that has
- 32:26Speaker 13: been in there for the last few, years especially Since
- 32:28Speaker 13: Julia gillard under her government changed them and The Sex Discrimination.
- 32:33Speaker 20: Act.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Ironic i'm going to get to that in a,
- 32:36Speaker 2: Moment but ironic the first female prime minister to do
- 32:39Speaker 2: over women as she. DID i, mean she's the great
- 32:43Speaker 2: misogynist IF i want to get clear about the changes
- 32:45Speaker 2: that she made to that, Act but just on, this
- 32:48Speaker 2: when you started, out when the first decision went against,
- 32:51Speaker 2: YOU i think the, WORLD i think The australian debate
- 32:55Speaker 2: on this was in a very different. Place now we've
- 32:58Speaker 2: even got THE ioc and other organizations saying it's not
- 33:02Speaker 2: about trans, people it's actually about cementing the rights of,
- 33:05Speaker 2: women our biological. Rights so do you feel that things
- 33:10Speaker 2: have now caught up to where you are at the
- 33:12Speaker 2: principles that you are.
- 33:13Speaker 13: Arguing the people who want to establish trans rights are
- 33:20Speaker 13: entitled to do, that and they've had an amazing amount
- 33:24Speaker 13: of political capital for the better part of the last. Decade,
- 33:28Speaker 13: now the likes of The Australian Human Rights commission could
- 33:31Speaker 13: use that put all of their energy into getting legislation
- 33:36Speaker 13: to protect trans people on the basis of being, trans
- 33:40Speaker 13: to get them trans only, spaces trans only, sport whatever they,
- 33:44Speaker 13: need go and do. It they've never even tried they.
- 33:47Speaker 13: Have all they have done is tried to get women
- 33:50Speaker 13: to accept men in female spaces and, sport and we
- 33:56Speaker 13: have said, no it's as simple as, that we're not
- 33:58Speaker 13: opposing other people having protections that they need have, them
- 34:02Speaker 13: but you cannot take away our protections to get. Yours
- 34:06Speaker 13: that's not how human rights work at, all never has,
- 34:08Speaker 13: been never will.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Be, okay, okay just quickly sall two o'clock. Tomorrow if
- 34:12Speaker 2: it doesn't go in your, favor will you go to
- 34:15Speaker 2: The High?
- 34:16Speaker 13: Court, yes, YEAH i THINK i mean there you heard.
- 34:20Speaker 11: IT i would like.
- 34:21Speaker 13: THAT i would like that there to be legislators that
- 34:25Speaker 13: stepped in and actually did their job and fixed, this
- 34:26Speaker 13: because they could fix this for free in a. Week
- 34:28Speaker 13: but IF i have to go to The High, COURT i.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Will right everyone there you. Go if it doesn't go
- 34:33Speaker 2: her way, tomorrow get on and. Help Crawd fundo will
- 34:35Speaker 2: speak to you after the, event, Obviously so thank you
- 34:38Speaker 2: for joining me. Tonight let's go to that point on,
- 34:40Speaker 2: legislation BECAUSE i want to tell you that there will
- 34:43Speaker 2: be a private member's bill introduced into The house Of
- 34:46Speaker 2: reps in the next sitting fortnite that that doesn't start On,
- 34:49Speaker 2: monday it's the next week after. That and joining me
- 34:52Speaker 2: now is the woman who wants to right this, wrong
- 34:56Speaker 2: AS i, said ironically put in place made by the
- 34:59Speaker 2: first Fee Prime Minister Julia gillard for reasons she can't,
- 35:02Speaker 2: explain not, now not even back. Then when she ripped
- 35:06Speaker 2: out the gender descriptors are sex descriptors of man and.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Women from that legislation she put in gender, identity sexual
- 35:15Speaker 2: orientation and intersex status as what are called protected. Attributes
- 35:21Speaker 2: John may now THE mp who's taking on this, fight
- 35:25Speaker 2: The member For, line The NATIONALS mp For Line Ali. Penfold, Well, ali.
- 35:30Speaker 2: ALLELUJAH i have to say to you because we have
- 35:32Speaker 2: talked about this for so long and you're the first
- 35:35Speaker 2: person in The parliament putting pens to. Paper good on,
- 35:38Speaker 2: You thank, You.
- 35:41Speaker 21: Peter, no this is an important issue in my community
- 35:44Speaker 21: and Across.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Australia the numbers look like obviously you're in The, house
- 35:49Speaker 2: only that they will be against. You but this is
- 35:51Speaker 2: about having the fight forcing labor to vote AGAINST i
- 35:55Speaker 2: presume the rights of women and. Girls how are you
- 35:59Speaker 2: going to go about making a real noise about this
- 36:01Speaker 2: so it does become a huge issue at the next.
- 36:03Speaker 21: Election, Well, peter just because the government's a lost cause
- 36:08Speaker 21: on this issue doesn't mean we should we shouldn't try
- 36:11Speaker 21: and people Like Sal grover And Curira Lee smith who's
- 36:14Speaker 21: a constituent of, mine who's also been dealing with this
- 36:17Speaker 21: issue in the. Electorate there've been incredible individuals with incredible
- 36:23Speaker 21: passion to represent what is a simple. Fact but sex
- 36:28Speaker 21: is biological and. Binary and my decision to pursue this
- 36:33Speaker 21: goes back a number of. Years it was a COMMITMENT
- 36:36Speaker 21: i made to the members of The nationals in my
- 36:39Speaker 21: electorate AND i said to them in my first term In,
- 36:42Speaker 21: parliament If i'm, ELECTED i will introduce this bill Because
- 36:46Speaker 21: parliament has to fix the ambiguity and Only parliament. Can
- 36:50Speaker 21: we can't leave it to the courts to do. THIS i,
- 36:52Speaker 21: mean As sol, said she's trying to. Crowdfund if she
- 36:56Speaker 21: needs to take it to The High, court that's not
- 36:58Speaker 21: fair on her and that's not on the women Of.
- 37:00Speaker 21: Australia we need to create safe, spaces activities and. Services
- 37:06Speaker 21: we need to deal with this. AMBIGUITY i would like
- 37:09Speaker 21: to see my bill go forward to debate and to
- 37:12Speaker 21: be voted, on but as a private member's bill at
- 37:14Speaker 21: this Point i'll simply only be able to introduce, it
- 37:17Speaker 21: but at least it'll be on the notice paper AND
- 37:20Speaker 21: i hope others will take up the case with.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Me, Yeah And i'll just make the point again About Julia.
- 37:27Speaker 2: GILLARD i mean she likes to get out there and
- 37:28Speaker 2: crow about being the first female and all the accolades
- 37:32Speaker 2: that go with, it first female prime, minister and yet
- 37:35Speaker 2: she did this to. Women it would be good for
- 37:38Speaker 2: The Prime minister now and all the labor and pas
- 37:42Speaker 2: to join you in writing this, wrong BECAUSE i think
- 37:44Speaker 2: the world has absolutely woken up to. This if you've
- 37:47Speaker 2: got The International Olympic committee now protecting women's, sport yet
- 37:53Speaker 2: it's not protected in this, country then surely we need
- 37:55Speaker 2: to fix.
- 37:56Speaker 21: That, yes, Exactly peter AND. I i've tried to craft
- 38:01Speaker 21: this legislation in a way that it can get the
- 38:03Speaker 21: support of The. Parliament i'm not fully overturning the amendments
- 38:07Speaker 21: that were made in twenty. Thirteen there still will be
- 38:11Speaker 21: protected attributes for Transgender, australians but they'll be ascertainable and.
- 38:17Speaker 21: Objective i'll be reinstating the biological definition of male and.
- 38:22Speaker 21: Female i'll be making explicit protections for female, spaces and
- 38:27Speaker 21: in doing that that's about you, know as you, said
- 38:30Speaker 21: we've got the sporting issues with THE ioc and other
- 38:36Speaker 21: codes that have really struggled. With we've had issues In,
- 38:39Speaker 21: victoria in, prisons, overseas we've had issues in domestic violence.
- 38:43Speaker 21: Shelters we need to create. Laws women's rights should not
- 38:48Speaker 21: be a served. Here we need to create a space
- 38:52Speaker 21: for women and, indeed, Men i've had men in my electorates, say,
- 38:55Speaker 21: hey we want to have a men shared for. Men
- 38:58Speaker 21: we want to have that place for men to go
- 39:00Speaker 21: for the camaraderie and the support they, Need AND i
- 39:03Speaker 21: think that's. Fantastic we need to create those safe spaces
- 39:07Speaker 21: for people to be able to engage in a way
- 39:11Speaker 21: that they feel safe. In And i'm just trying to
- 39:13Speaker 21: carve out a middle ground here AND i do, HOPE
- 39:17Speaker 21: i do hope that common sense will, prevail and it
- 39:20Speaker 21: should because it's time that we dealt with this. Issue
- 39:23Speaker 21: we dealt with the, ambiguity and we can get on
- 39:25Speaker 21: with the way things should.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Be Good on, You, Ali i'm encouraging my viewers to
- 39:31Speaker 2: get on there and send you an. Email you'll have
- 39:32Speaker 2: plenty of material, then almost like a petition you can
- 39:35Speaker 2: speak to in The parliament and perhaps maybe get some
- 39:38Speaker 2: of these labor, women particularly the women they talk, tough
- 39:41Speaker 2: these labor women on board to support. You thank you
- 39:43Speaker 2: very much for joining me. Tonight all the. Best let's
- 39:46Speaker 2: go to THE uk after the. Break Here's dama on
- 39:49Speaker 2: his last. Legs, Now i've been warning that other states
- 39:57Speaker 2: were forced to bail Out victoria given the state of their.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Books the federal budget confirms that is. Happening now we'll
- 40:03Speaker 2: get to that with my panel in a. Moment but
- 40:05Speaker 2: let's go straight To. London Kiss arma in trouble The prime.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Minister eighty labor MPs have demanded he. Quit we've now
- 40:12Speaker 2: got four ministers who have. Resigned he says he's digging
- 40:16Speaker 2: in joining. Me askinese Contributor News Corporate european Correspondent Sophie.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Ellsworth so what's the, Latest, Well, peter there's.
- 40:26Speaker 14: A lot of excitement down here at Ten Downing street
- 40:29Speaker 14: because the media is waiting to see whether the expected
- 40:33Speaker 14: resignation is to come of The Health Secretary Where's, streeting
- 40:37Speaker 14: which is expected to happen in the coming, hours which
- 40:40Speaker 14: would cause a challenge for The Prime. Minister but at
- 40:44Speaker 14: the moment we really are in limbo waiting to see
- 40:47Speaker 14: whether or not that will, Happen. Peter but just in
- 40:50Speaker 14: the last few hours it's also come to light That Angela,
- 40:53Speaker 14: raina the Former Deputy Prime, minister has had at tax affairs.
- 40:57Speaker 11: Any wrongdoing or any issues with.
- 41:00Speaker 14: That, cleard she hadn't paid a forty thousand pound amount
- 41:04Speaker 14: on her stamp. Duty she's now been cleared of any
- 41:07Speaker 14: wrongdoing in relation to, that which now opens the gates
- 41:11Speaker 14: possibly for her to mount a. Challenge, So, peter it's
- 41:14Speaker 14: anyone's guess as to what may happen here in the
- 41:16Speaker 14: next few.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Hours, okay she might have paid the, money but do
- 41:22Speaker 2: you think she's cleared in the eyes of voters to run?
- 41:27Speaker 2: Here and what About Andy. Burnham he's out of The
- 41:30Speaker 2: parliament of, course it was blocked By Keirs darmer for
- 41:33Speaker 2: a seat in a recent. Race can he run from?
- 41:36Speaker 2: Outside can he somehow get involved at this late, Stage, peter.
- 41:42Speaker 11: Just listening to talk back radio this.
- 41:44Speaker 14: Morning the punters are really annoyed about this case With
- 41:46Speaker 14: Angela reiner Because i've heard some people ring up and
- 41:50Speaker 14: say they had issues with the HMR, c the tax
- 41:54Speaker 14: office here in THE uk and that resulted in them
- 41:56Speaker 14: having to pay fines or interests or penalty and this
- 42:00Speaker 14: has not occurred in her.
- 42:01Speaker 11: Instance and also it appears that her case was.
- 42:04Speaker 22: Resolved relatively, quickly so questions are being raised of why
- 42:09Speaker 22: this news has come to light and why it's happened relatively.
- 42:12Speaker 22: Quickly but in regards To Andy, burnham, look he is
- 42:16Speaker 22: still The Greater manchester, mayor so they're trying to work
- 42:20Speaker 22: out if they can find a seat for him to
- 42:23Speaker 22: force the by election to try and get him a
- 42:25Speaker 22: seat back in The house Of, commons which then means
- 42:28Speaker 22: he could possibly mount a, challenge but there's lots of
- 42:31Speaker 22: hurdles for him to jump through before that is to
- 42:34Speaker 22: become a.
- 42:35Speaker 11: Reality, Peter, yeah it's clear.
- 42:38Speaker 2: As darma's going BUT i mean as death five thousand.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Cuts will watch you closely AND i thank, You. SOPHIE

- 45:44Speaker 2: rodgers The deputy executive director of The institute Of Public,
- 45:46Speaker 2: Affairs Dan. Wilde welcome to you. Both, Dan i'm going
- 45:50Speaker 2: to start with. You i've been warning for ages and
- 45:53Speaker 2: ages that that that the rank dare to the red
- 45:57Speaker 2: ink In victoria would have all that for other, states
- 46:00Speaker 2: and that's precisely what's. Happened you've got about seven billion
- 46:04Speaker 2: dollars of money From canberra funneled into This victorian controversial rail,
- 46:09Speaker 2: link a rail line from nowhere that nobody. Wants there's
- 46:13Speaker 2: not equitable spending in the other states for, transport and
- 46:16Speaker 2: when pushed on this just. Senter alan, says, well we
- 46:20Speaker 2: need extra help because unlike all the other, states we
- 46:23Speaker 2: don't have a mining. Industry, well they used to have
- 46:27Speaker 2: one and to labor band coal and band.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Gas well that's exactly.
- 46:33Speaker 28: Right they don't have a mining industry because the government
- 46:35Speaker 28: has chosen to not have a mining. Industry and exactly
- 46:38Speaker 28: as you've pointed out and we've discussed for many, months
- 46:41Speaker 28: the problems In victoria are not just problems that will
- 46:44Speaker 28: stay In. Victoria they are problems for All australians because
- 46:48Speaker 28: other states that are doing better, economically other states that
- 46:51Speaker 28: are making better economic decisions and now having to bail Out,
- 46:55Speaker 28: victoria and it is only going to get.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Worse this is also a problem that's.
- 46:59Speaker 28: Build into THE gst distribution, system, which as you, know
- 47:03Speaker 28: underperforming states get cross subsidized by states that are considered
- 47:07Speaker 28: to be performing. Better so there's a disincentive for states
- 47:11Speaker 28: to undertake reforms that will grow their. Economy so look,
- 47:14Speaker 28: Sadly victoria is not just a basket case in its own.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Right it's a basket. Case it's going to drag down
- 47:19Speaker 1: the national economy.
- 47:22Speaker 2: And dan tonight obviously a very big speech From Angus.
- 47:24Speaker 2: TAYLOR i, mean it's not a campaign. Speech you can't
- 47:27Speaker 2: do everything and you can't fix everything tonight, Either BUT
- 47:31Speaker 2: i have, said you, KNOW i want some fair income
- 47:34Speaker 2: action on. MIGRATION i want a. Number i'd like to
- 47:37Speaker 2: see That Howard government average of one hundred and twenty
- 47:39Speaker 2: thousand only a, year or upwards of five hundred. THOUSAND
- 47:43Speaker 2: i also would love to see every single dollar from
- 47:45Speaker 2: net zero put towards something that rewards, aspiration a like
- 47:50Speaker 2: ending bracket. CREEP i think that's on the table that is.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Coming But, dan what else do you want to?
- 47:55Speaker 28: See, well there's three THINGS i want to, see which
- 47:58Speaker 28: is cut, Immigration cut immigration and cut. Immigration that is
- 48:02Speaker 28: the number one issue facing our nation's future at the
- 48:05Speaker 28: moment because so many things hinge upon. It it's not
- 48:08Speaker 28: just an economic, problem it's a social, problem which is
- 48:10Speaker 28: also becoming a political. Problem and when you look at
- 48:13Speaker 28: the hypocrisy at the heart of the government's. Budget yes
- 48:16Speaker 28: there's the lies over negative gearing and capital gains, tax
- 48:19Speaker 28: but the central lies that they're going to get More
- 48:21Speaker 28: australians into a.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Home no they're.
- 48:23Speaker 28: Not you're not going to get More australians into a
- 48:26Speaker 28: home when you are bringing in nearly three hundred thousand
- 48:29Speaker 28: more migrants each year one point two million over the
- 48:33Speaker 28: next four, years and they reckon they're going to free up.
- 48:35Speaker 28: Housing it is a complete and total face and that
- 48:39Speaker 28: is the key issue THAT i Think Angus taylor needs
- 48:41Speaker 28: to tackle.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Tonight, Well, jamie they're not going to free up housing.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Either if they force all the investors out of the,
- 48:48Speaker 2: market and those that still want to, invest all negative
- 48:51Speaker 2: gear have to then go out for the house of land,
- 48:55Speaker 2: packages the housing type that generally the first home buyer
- 48:59Speaker 2: tends to be able to. Afford and so you're going
- 49:02Speaker 2: to make it tougher on. THEM i, mean the unintended
- 49:05Speaker 2: consequences and what was announced On tuesday night are. Real
- 49:08Speaker 2: what do you want to see tonight from The liberal?
- 49:10Speaker 5: Leader, well first of, All, PETER i really want to
- 49:13Speaker 5: See Angus taylor come out with giving, everything speaking with
- 49:17Speaker 5: conviction and being bringing back for The Liberal. PARTY i
- 49:21Speaker 5: know this sounds, dramatic BUT i really think it's make
- 49:23Speaker 5: or break for The liberals And Angus taylor. Tonight i'd
- 49:26Speaker 5: really like to see them address the childcare issue within this.
- 49:29Speaker 5: BUDGET i don't think universal childcare. Works we've spoken about
- 49:32Speaker 5: this previously on the. PROGRAM i think it should be
- 49:34Speaker 5: more like a tax deduction or give the money to
- 49:37Speaker 5: families and they can decide where they want to spend,
- 49:39Speaker 5: it and the same with. YOU i think that migration
- 49:42Speaker 5: needs to be lowered quite. Substantially BUT i think it's
- 49:45Speaker 5: also worth noting when you talk about negative. Gearing The
- 49:47Speaker 5: australian has reported that out Of labour's, cabinet twenty out of,
- 49:51Speaker 5: twenty three of those ministers have more than two. Properties
- 49:55Speaker 5: Tony burkey has, Six Andrew charlton has, five so they
- 50:00Speaker 5: won't be impacted by these negative gearing. Changes it's only
- 50:03Speaker 5: the younger generation that they're supposedly supposed to be, helping
- 50:06Speaker 5: so These labor ministers won't be. Impacted they've been able
- 50:10Speaker 5: to reap the rewards of negative gearing and then knock
- 50:12Speaker 5: the ladder down after they've achieved, it so that the
- 50:15Speaker 5: next group can't do it unless it's a new. Property
- 50:17Speaker 5: but as you, said they're going to be up against
- 50:19Speaker 5: investors as, well so there's going to be lots of
- 50:22Speaker 5: negative flow on impacts Of Tuesday night's. Budget BUT i
- 50:25Speaker 5: Think Tonight Angus taylor bring back ambition and show that
- 50:29Speaker 5: success is something to be rewarded not punished In. Australia.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Dan, interestingly we look in the forward, estimates we know
- 50:37Speaker 2: that our debt is going to climb well and above
- 50:40Speaker 2: the one trillion dollar, Mark but there was a terrible
- 50:43Speaker 2: report today, that in, fact if you dig deeper into
- 50:46Speaker 2: the budget, papers there's actually another trillion dollars out there
- 50:50Speaker 2: that we are on the hook for that labor has
- 50:53Speaker 2: not come clean.
- 50:54Speaker 28: About, yeah, well it all feels like monopoly money at the,
- 50:58Speaker 28: moment doesn't.
- 50:59Speaker 1: It they're throwing billions.
- 51:00Speaker 28: AROUND i think the issue that really concerns, me in
- 51:03Speaker 28: addition to what you've, said is that they're forecasting our
- 51:06Speaker 28: economy is going to be growing very, slowly only in
- 51:09Speaker 28: the twos in terms of annual percentage. Growth, now this
- 51:12Speaker 28: is well below the growth to our. Debt now that's
- 51:15Speaker 28: a big. Problem when your debt is growing faster than your,
- 51:17Speaker 28: economy that means the debt is going to eat up
- 51:20Speaker 28: more of your, economy not. Less and so when there's
- 51:22Speaker 28: no plan to actually grow the economy beyond rapid population,
- 51:26Speaker 28: growth that means that there's only one way they're going
- 51:28Speaker 28: to claw that, back and that's through raising, taxes which
- 51:30Speaker 28: is exactly what they're.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Doing and just, Quickly, jamie there is a real move
- 51:37Speaker 2: out of THE nt to put children in the safest,
- 51:41Speaker 2: home not just in a cultural. Home we must do, This.
- 51:47Speaker 5: Peter we must do. Better And senator that's just Into.
- 51:51Speaker 5: Namba Jimber price spoke so passionately in The. Senate we
- 51:54Speaker 5: need to be doing everything we possibly, Can, peter to
- 51:57Speaker 5: fix the situation that is up in The Northern.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Territory all, Right i'll leave it there because we're up
- 52:02Speaker 2: against the. Clock thank you to you. Both don't miss
- 52:06Speaker 2: tonight obviously it's seven point. Thirty after a little bit
- 52:08Speaker 2: Of Andrew, bolt you will Get Anger's. Taylor don't go,
- 52:10Speaker 2: anywhere stay here on. Sky ya'll be analysis at the other.
- 52:13Speaker 2: End i'm going to head off now. Though have a lovely.
- 52:16Speaker 2: Week
