- Roc: Welcome back, Swappers. It is a Tuesday morning pod. We got week seven of the NFL recap. Seat up on the mic, rock on the mic. C-Dub: What what Roc: And we're coming to you either through your phone, through your car, in your AirPods, in your AirBuds. And we're gonna have a nice little morning talk about some football that happened this past week. How about it? C-Dub: We're coming. We're coming. Roc: Hell yeah. Hell yeah. All right. Let's start off first game C-Dub: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. College minute? Roc: College minute, yeah. Go go ahead, all you. C-Dub: I need to speak. I had a parlay. long story short, BYU. They found ways to Roc: Yeah. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. C-Dub: lose that game. I I thought I thought I had a lucky break at the end. Thought it was a turnover. no. But wait. They didn't and then there was a fifteen fifteen yard penalty at the end, kinda boned him there. That one really hurt because that was my th those were I think it was tied for the best odds on that play. Roc: Mm-hmm. C-Dub: And everything else slapped. And as you'll as you'll see from us, we had a couple plays where it got to the end and just fizzled out. We'll talk about it though. We'll talk about that. That was my f my fantasy minute. Texas demit command commanding win. Utah also commanding win. They're they're making a name for themselves. They're making a name for I did. I did. And can I do one more shout out? Roc: Yeah. Yeah, no we will. That d great game. Great game. Y for those of you that stayed up. For those of you that stayed up, I'm glad you did. Yes, that was a great game. I watched the entire thing. Mm-hmm. C-Dub: How about them Qs? Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: How about them Qs and OT? Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: By that point in the night, I was I was a few drinks in and I was going I don't think anyone else cared. But I cared. I cared and I was I was getting loud. Roc: Mm-hmm. That's all that's all that matters. C-Dub: Fran Brown almost got emotional. I almost got emotional. What a win what a what a win. What a win. I think it's sna I forget how many games consecutive games Syracuse lost in the ACC. It was something ridiculous. It was between like nine and eleven game skid, where they just could not beat an ACC opponent. Beat Roc: Doesn't shock me. C-Dub: a beat a pretty good team. I mean And jelly back at the helm. Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: It looked good. It looked good. I was excited about that. And that's all I got, Rock. We can get right into it now. Roc: No, yeah, that that's a great college minute by Dub. The BYU UCF game was literally just a summary of how f college football's been this year. You you rise all the way up to the top, then you don't want to be in that spot and you lose. It's every single team this year. So I think that was just a great snapshot of how the season's going and should be a good, fun college playoffs coming up. C-Dub: Yep. I feel like that the entirety of college the college is is at the NFC South. Roc: And it's yeah, yeah. C-Dub: You think you have a top dog. Roc: Exist. C-Dub: And then they find a way to drop a stinker. Another preview. Roc: Find a way to lose. C-Dub: Another preview for this for this upcoming epi. Cause wow. Cause Roc: But C-Dub: wow. Roc: we're gonna get right into it. Thursday night football. Patriots versus Bears. Bears thirty, Patriots twenty four. This might have been the game of the week, dub, honestly. In C-Dub: And might have and rock. Roc: my opinion, this was a fun, fun game. C-Dub: We were on this. We were on this early. We we were on this. Roc: Yeah. All over it. C-Dub: Bears cover two and a half. Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: And the over hit too, so it was a really fun game all around. Yeah. Roc: Smack. Yep. Fun game. Both quarterbacks played great. I thought Drake Drake May played very, very good football. It just came down to the the one mistake and he made the mistake in the red zone at the goal line, throwing the peck, and Caleb Williams didn't didn't make the mistake. So I mean, Drake May, three twenty-one, two touchdowns, an interception, and rushing T D. Caleb over three hundred yards, two passing T D's. And dude, Luther Burden is a dog. C-Dub: I had Yak Demon. Roc: He's just a dog. C-Dub: He is a dog. He's a dog. And then we were we were kind of also high on AJ Brown. I feel Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: bad on one of my boys. it would have been a qu a fun little segment here, but he said he sent it to me after. He has like four mid ass wide receivers on his team. And I told him to start AJ Brown and I feel bad after that because he was really he missing posters are now up or all over New the New England Boston area. Roc: Yeah, he's on the back of milk cartons right now. He's on the back of milk cartons. Nah. C-Dub: 'Cause he he he was not he was not at the game. Might as well have just not gotten off the bus. Roc: S s sneaky, sneaky fantasy demon this week, Ramondre. Five for ninety-five C-Dub: Yep. Yep. Roc: receiving in a tutty. C-Dub: I played Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Roc: Love that. Love that. I mean he was he was a league winner this week. He basically was wide receiver one for the good good half until JSN showed up. But yeah, fun game. A lot of points. Both quarterback play was great. And Doug, will you have any other takes on this game or no? Because I have one note at the end. All right. Love it. Love it. C-Dub: trust me, I have a scolding hot take here. the Patriots. Their kicker. Roc: Yeah. Yep. C-Dub: What's his name? Bor Borales? Roc: The Yeah. I don't I don't know how to pronounce yeah. C-Dub: A kicker should never be wearing eye black. Never. It is ugh it doesn't look right. It doesn't look right. Especially in a primetime game. Roc: Too much drip. Too much strip. I'm pretty sure I I could be I could be wrong. I could be wrong in this. I think he was the same guy maybe last year, a year ago, or two years ago, he wore arm sleeve. He was rocking an arm C-Dub: Hm. Roc: sleeve out there kicking. C-Dub: I'm all for showing your stuff, but like be my wide receiver one. Do not have I black on. Granted, he d he made his Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: kicks. He made his kicks, but like still at the same time, like. And it was like streaks. It w it wasn't just like two stripes. It was something obnoxious. Roc: Mm-hmm. C-Dub: And I and that was my one a big note on this was it's not right. It's it's unholy. It's unholy. It it Sacrilegious is what comes to my mind. Roc: It it sets up for some generational memes though if he has a bad day. If he has a bad day. So, C-Dub: It does. It does. Roc: it i it puts the ball in his court. It's either you're gonna show up and show out or you're gonna you're gonna drop the ball and you're gonna be all over internet, brother. C-Dub: And damn it, did some kickers have some bad days this week? Whew. Roc: Yeah, yep, yep. C-Dub: Damn it, didn't they? But he did not. But I y that that was my one no. Roc: I had one takeaway from this game. If do you have anything else or no? Great coach. Great coach. So this kind C-Dub: I just also had Ben Johnson's just a good coach. Just a good coach. Roc: of that kind of leads into what my take was. So Bears defense last year is one of the worst in the entire league. One of the worst. And I think they were like bottom three, bottom four. And they didn't do any changes this year. They were expected to be a bad defense again this year. And it's not like they're they're great or anything like that. But their defense is is playing pretty well. They're getting pressure week in and week out. do you know who their defensive coordinator is? C-Dub: I do not. Roc: Their defense coordinator is Dennis Allen. Do you remember that name? C-Dub: Enlighten me, Rock. Roc: He was the Saints head coach before Kellen Moore two years ago, three years ago, and everyone just thought he's just boring. He sucks. He's a bad coach, which, in all fairness, as a head coach, he sucked. My takeaway from this game is every NFL team that doesn't have like a head coach as a defensive guy like a Mike McDonald or like a Jesse Minter, right? Every NFL team should hire a defensive minded retread coach that tried to be a head coach at one point and failed and hire them as their DC. It works in pretty much every single situation. Dennis Allen with the Bears right Dennis C-Dub: That's a great take. That's a great take. That's a great take. Roc: Allen with the Bears right now is getting the most out of that Bears defense and which isn't that talented and the only reason why they were like competent last year is because they led the league in turnovers Which turnover luck interceptions is like that's not sustainable. So Dennis Allen this year is getting the most out of that bears defense. You see with Brian Flores at in the Minnesota, tried to be a head coach with the Dolphins, flamed out, and now best defense in the NFL. You see it with Steve Spagnola and the Chiefs. They they've won what? Three Super Bowls in five years with him at DC all all five years. He tried it with the Giants, didn't work, flamed out. And Vic Vangio with the Eagles. The Eagles have had a top five defense the last four years. He was head coach in Denver. Didn't work out. Comes back, hired as DC. You see it every every three years when Robert Salas, the head coach somewhere, gets gets canned. Niners pick him up middle of the year, and then their defense is top five again. I I just don't understand why teams don't do don't do that. I C-Dub: Do you think it's 'cause these guys stay in their lane? Is that kind of what you're implying here? Roc: What do you mean? C-Dub: As in they these guys have gotten the t gotten the taste for the the head head coaching role and they realize I'm just a defensive guy. Gimme give me focus on one side Roc: Yeah, no, that's what I'm saying. I if C-Dub: of the ball. Roc: yeah, if if I there's multiple guys that are great coordinators, offense and defense coordinators, and when you get to the head coach, it's too much. You have to control everything. You have to manage the clock, you have to manage offense, defense, everything. I just don't see why and more NFL teams aren't doing this game plan and just hiring defensive coordinators that were flameouts as head coach. It it it C-Dub: Yeah, no. Roc: works so well and it's it's working crazy. Brian Flores, Dennis and it's just emphasize, not even it's like, yeah, they're they're good squads. They're like the reason why teams are elevating so well is because these defensive coordinators are getting the most out of these guys. That was that was my biggest takeaway C-Dub: Then that is true. Yeah. Roc: from watching watching that game. That I just I I had to say that. C-Dub: W take. No, that's a great take. I really like that one. And it's a b and it's also Roc: Appreciate it. All right. We get in C-Dub: it's also a huge win for the Bears in their division. That's a huge win. Huge win. They stay in the middle of pack. And Roc: Huge, huge, yeah, yeah. C-Dub: that's the best and that's and that's the best the best you can do. Roc: Yeah. Get a big win over a pass team that was that was rolling and that was finding stride. We C-Dub: Yep. Roc: roll into Sunday now. Early morning game in Paris, France, I believe. Steelers sixteen, Saints ten. Petty. We we we wee. C-Dub: Yep. Park Pali. Pali. Pali. Yes. Yes. Roc: Steelers sixteen, Saints ten. Kind of a snoozer, in my opinion. C-Dub: Can I be honest, Rock? Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: I was way too hungover to watch this game. But I watched the highlights. Roc: I when you FaceTime me when you FaceTime me I I assumed you didn't see much of this game. C-Dub: I did not, no, no. But I re I I hey, we have a podcast to do and I and I and I watched the highlights. I did. I did. and my my main takeaway from this is just the Steelers handle business. You can say they're good, you can say they're mid, you can say whatever you want about them, but they're winning. It might be ugly, but they're winning. They're winning. Roc: Yeah, they are. They but they're winning and s somehow somehow, some way, regardless of Tomlin, regardless of whoever you wanna say, they're gonna somehow be over five hundred and have a shot at the playoffs. No matter what. It it's yeah. C-Dub: Yep. Yep. And yeah. I think i i if you keep air if you keep Aaron Rodgers at this level, you just need to have him manage the game. He has the mind. I know there's all this talk about who's calling the plays, yada yada yada. If I'm Mike McCarthy, I don't care. You have one of the greatest football minds back there. Dude, let him take the credit. You're winning. You're winning. And it and again, it's not like the Saints team is unbelievable. Roc: No. C-Dub: But they held in the ten points. And they got it done. Jalen Roc: You C-Dub: Warren again solidifying himself as a top five back in this league. Should be a lot more respect on his name. You just gotta give him props. Roc: Yeah, no, they're finding ways to win and it's ugly, but you know, you you gotta do what you gotta do and whatever. My biggest takeaway from this game was maybe tweet of the year I saw. Did you see the Darnell Washington clip of him going up in Yeah, C-Dub: Yeah it did. I yeah, yeah, yeah. Roc: it was the tweet I forgot I I gotta pull up, but it was Darnell Washington obviously six nine, three hundred pounds going up and going up against a DB who's probably like five, eleven, a buck eighty. And it was like My drunk uncle going up against our eight year old at the turkey bowl on Thanksgiving. And dude, C-Dub: Yeah, I saw that. Roc: I could not stop laughing when I saw that. It was perfect. C-Dub: Yeah, no it was. It was. Roc: It was perfect. C-Dub: he played he he's good. And shout out it was tight it was tight end day, national tight end day. Roc: Yeah, yeah. C-Dub: Go bitch someone, Go do it. Roc: Th that that was that was the biggest note that I had and then the the other note was dub. Do you wanna know how many rushing yards the Saints had in this game? C-Dub: I know it was abysmally low, but I do not recall. Roc: It was seventeen carries for eighteen yards, with C-Dub: Yeah, it's pretty. Roc: Tyler Schuck being the leading rusher with seven. C-Dub: Yeah, I saw yeah. Roc: So that's just we g we we get we C-Dub: Yeah, no, it's bad team. It's a bad team. Roc: we get a little stink stinker game to start off start off the Sunday. A little stinker C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: game to start off Sunday. C-Dub: And we're sinking our teeth into week seven. I think there's gonna be lot of coaching coaching questions coming out of this. I don't think Ellen Moore's long for that job. Roc: He might be another person that is great coordinator, maybe not so great head coach. Because when he was coordinator C-Dub: Yeah. Yeah. Roc: in Philly, that was the year they won the Super Bowl and their offense was humming. So just C-Dub: Yeah, no true. Roc: just a little food for thought there. I'm good to move C-Dub: for thought. Roc: on from that game. C-Dub: Yeah, no I'm good too. Again I was I was comatose. Yeah. Roc: Yeah, yeah. we're gonna move into the one o'clock slate. We got the Vikings 16, Colts 10, Vikings stay undefeated. Dub, this is your dog. This is your dog, dub. C-Dub: it like Rocket, we're not right a lot. I was dead on with this analysis. Roc: Yeah. That on. C-Dub: It's exactly how it was supposed to go. It was a game that was the un twenty-six total points. And when an under's that low, you cannot give a team a touchdown cushion. To cover. And it ha it Roc: Yeah. Yeah. C-Dub: went exactly how How I expected. I think how a lot of people expect it. It's the Vik Roc: You spoke it into existence. C-Dub: it's it's the Vikings not having the Vikings defense doing enough to have an incompetent offense get you just enough points. some other notes. I mean, we could talk about the Vikings and how they're playing and all that, but the Colts are just sad. Roc: And the Colts are very, very sad, but I'll say for you taking their dog taking them as the dog, they they gave you a shot. They had a shot going down with the last a minute and a half to go win the game. That's all you can ask for. They are pathetic though. Yes. They they No, they're pathetic. They're they're no fun. C-Dub: They didn't score in the second half. Yeah. Roc: They're they're no fun. C-Dub: Their first drive, JT rips off like a thirty yard touchdown, looks electric. might give a run for their money, but no. It never never Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: never even close. granted they missed two field goals. the Colts did. Yeah. Roc: Which their kicker's been nails this year too. That was the he was he was a hundred percent before before that. C-Dub: Yeah, so n not a kicker I think's gonna lose its job, but again, that was noteworthy. yeah, they were just stagnant. Offense is stagnant. Roc: Yeah. quarterbacks were just having a mid off. D Daniel Jones a hundred barely over a hundred passing yards, hundred eight yards and interception. Kyler Murray, 150 yards and a touchdown. Just mid quarterback play, bad quarterback play. Kyler did enough do what he asked to to win the game. Jonathan Taylor, you said it, looked good, ripped it off first half, and I hope he gets moved at the deadline because C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: He's too f too good of a player to be not talked about because of a bad team. C-Dub: These are two teams I think one's buyers, one's sellers. Roc: Yeah. Yeah. And I I I wouldn't mind seeing Jonathan Taylor go to the Vikings as one of the potential destinations. That's been rumored around. C-Dub: Yeah. Now I mean, do you still have any hope in Kyler turning this thing around? You say it every week. Roc: I I I I'm gonna stand on it, yeah. 'Cause he is talented. He is talented. He's a offensive rookie of the year, number one overall pick, Heisman winner. He he's talented and I feel like talent will figure it out somehow. But then again, Cod just dropped, so I I don't know about that. For those yeah. I know, I know. C-Dub: Hey they won. They won they won on the first week in the COD. How can we be mad? Roc: So I'm gonna stand on it though. Yeah, hopefully it does turn around. I I feel like he's he's too talented and their wide receiver course too good. C-Dub: Rock, I've been I've been against Kyle this whole year. Every time we talk about this, I say it, but I'm starting to turn. I'm starting to turn. It's an if it ain't broke, don't fix it. They're winning games. We just said about the Steelers. granted, it doesn't look pretty, but they get it done. They have a good enough defense. And I think their defense will hold out, but I forgot what their next couple games are, but it's a gauntlet. Roc: Mm-hmm. C-Dub: And I know they're going to the Lions next week. If I am correct. Roc: I could pull it up right now. C-Dub: Help me out here. Roc: Yes, sir. yeah, they have At Lions on November C-Dub: I think Roc: first. So they have a they have a buy this week. wait, no. C-Dub: Whose line is it anyways? Give me this what's the spread? Roc: My b no Sunday, Sunday, November first. whose line is it? C-Dub: At Lions, at Lions. Shout out PMT. I will go Lions one and a half. Roc: Lions one and a half. Before I look it up, I'm gonna say lines minus three and a half. C-Dub: I'll go one and a half. Roc: from early looks, Detroit is a three point favorite. C-Dub: Okay. Roc: Minus three. C-Dub: Okay. That's a pretty good spread, honestly, with them being at home. I might be over the Lions. But we'll see. We'll see. We we're not we're not we're not talking we're not talking that yet. We're not talking that yet. I'm Roc: No, no. C-Dub: gonna pump the brakes. Put it in the reverse, Terra. Yeah, but we'll I'll wait. But yeah, no, interesting game. Vikings remain undefeated. Roc: Stay undefeated. Yeah. That's all I had to say about that. win in advance. K stack stack your wins. C-Dub: Yep. Roc: Next game. Honestly a really, really fun game. It was it was pretty pretty quick scoring game early on. Dolphins twenty-eight. Jets twenty-five. Welcome to the club, Miami. You are allowed to be talked about now. They got their first win. They got their first C-Dub: I was gonna ask you. That was that was my first question. Rocco, I wanna hear your thoughts. Roc: one. They got their first win and good for them, man. Good for them. I I am truthfully happy because they were doing a quote unquote what do I want to say? how do I put this? The tank was a not like you're benching players. What's the word? The the term that I'm looking for? it was just a an an honest tank. they're just a bad squad, What there's there's no no, there's a term C-Dub: Yeah. so soft tank? Soft tank. Maybe we t we coined that. Roc: for it. It's ethical, an ethical tank. They're doing and and that no, that's what it is. An ethical tank. It's not C-Dub: Ethical tank. It is ethical. Yeah. Roc: like they're benching players or, they're trading away guys. They're just an ethical tank job. No accusations, no suspensions, nothing, just just straight ass. And luckily f good for them. Luckily for them C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: they they got they got a win. And C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: this yeah, Jets fans, this is this is what your your franchise is pretty much now. I mean C-Dub: Yeah. It epitomized. Yeah. the Dolphins guys played well. Greg Dolchit's played well. Roc: Losing to the Owen Owen six Dolphins at that time. But it was a fun game. Overslammed. Yeah. Overslammed C-Dub: Ali Gordon's fun. Roc: Ollie Gordon's a moose. He's a moose, dude. Yeah. Twa C-Dub: Allegorn's fun. He's fun. it's tough you can't really it's tough to compare guys. I think the his most similar comp is Derrick Henry. Roc: He's hu yeah, pause. He's yeah, he's C-Dub: He's just Roc: huge. pause, C-Dub: Resume. Resume. Roc: he's a he's a maw he's a moose, dude. C-Dub: He is a moose. Yeah, he's huge. He's huge. And he can kinda catch it too. Roc: Hundred and three found box. yeah, C-Dub: Yeah. Hey. Roc: fun game. G even Gino played well. Jets Jets played well. A C-Dub: That was a note I had too. It just Ugh. Roc: tick under three hundred, three tutties. I mean, Omar Cooper, dog. He looks really good. That could be a a a good steal out of Indiana. Last pick of the first round by the Jets. He had another over a hundred yards today, five catches with a C-Dub: Hey, cooked. Roc: tutty. So yeah, fun game. Good for the Dolphins. And I was so glad that Jeff Hathley, I don't know if you were watching this game, probably not towards the end just because Giants, but C-Dub: No. I was locked in somewhere else. Roc: it was a fourth and one, fourth and inches, maybe, maybe whatever, fourth and one from the fifty yard line to end the game. The Dolphins, there's they get it, the game's over, they don't get it, Jets have the ball to the fifty yard line going in to kick a field goal to tie it up or win the game. And I was so glad that Jeff Hatley had a pair of balls on him. and went for it and they picked up the first down because they could have very easily punted it, pinned it back and whatever, trusted in their defense to stop the Jets with forty seconds and no timeouts left. But you know what? You're you're a defeated team, haven't had a win. Go out and get yourself a win. C-Dub: Yeah? Yeah. one of my big Roc: So yeah. C-Dub: notes from this is Gino Bald. And that's and this still happened. Which then leads to my next point of Aaron Glenn. Roc: I just texted my one of my buddies from college about this today, but go on, what's your what's your C-Dub: You can't be a defensive minded coach, call the plays, and then lose to the defeated team. I think the writing's on the wall. And I won't be surprised if there's a mid season fire. Roc: Well, here's what I have to say about that. Is my college buddies were talking about it today. One of them's a Jets fan, and then it's a group chat with three of us. I'm a Giants fan, the other one's a Giants fan, and the other one's a Jets fan. We were just talking about this week, whatever. And he said, There is zero reason Aaron Glenn should still have a job. Legitimately a dumb human being. And I said, There is though, at least right now. is to make sure that they end up with a top three pick. The Jets are actually in a very good spot. They have really nice pieces on both sides of the ball, both young pieces on offense and defense. Hopefully they get a top three pick and they land Jeremiah Smith and their quarterback of the future. And then Aaron Glenn gets canned this year and they they pair up their that young quarterback with the new coach. That this I don't think they're going to fire him because this is the exact spot that they want to be And they also have they have their own pick this year. They have the Colts pick this year and the Cowboys pick this year. Depending on how tonight goes with the Cowboys and Eagles, Cowboys could be looking at a two and four start to the year, two and five start to the year. Colts, we already know how abysmal they are. There's a real shot the Jets could have three of the top five picks in the NFL draft. You bring in a new head coach after you bring in a new head coach into that spot with already the piece C-Dub: Yeah, yeah. No no no no no I guess you're right. Can I can I but can I can I not speak from a fan perspective though? Like that it is is brutal. Roc: no, you can. You can. C-Dub: I I'm right with your boy. It it's tough to watch. It's unwatchable. Roc: Yeah, no. yeah. No, I I I I I agree he's a he's not an NFL not an NFL head coach at all. But I think for in terms of where the organization what's best for the organization, they won't fire him this year and he will they will ride out this seventeen game season and they're probably loving that he's gonna be have them in a top five pick and then d then give him the can C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: and say adios. C-Dub: Yeah, yeah. I just feel bad for I feel one guy I feel bad for is Gino. Roc: Yeah. But he g he kinda got a bag, so C-Dub: He's playing well. He's he's on the end he's on the end of his he had to get a bag, but he's on the end of his tenure. I don't think he'll be a starter anywhere else after this. Roc: It's a good coming home story though. C-Dub: It is, but good coming home but sad too. they're not winning. Roc: And i if he pla if if he plays well the rest of the way down down the year, the quarterback that they draft next year, it could be like Kirk Cousins Mendoza situation next year. You C-Dub: Yeah, yeah, good. Roc: keep Gino around and you start him the first six, seven weeks, whatever, and if the season's looking bad the season's looking bad, then you go you go to the young buck, but if he plays servicefully and the Jets make some noise, then maybe he keeps it going. And You pair him up with his cousin, Jeremiah Smith, is cousins with Geno Smith. Little tidbit. Yeah. Yeah. So C-Dub: really? Didn't know that. Didn't know that one. Roc: nice little storyline. It's it yeah. C-Dub: Droppin' knowledge. Dropping knowledge. It'd be quite interesting to see how that goes. Roc: That's all I had about this game. C-Dub: Yeah. Yeah, that was that's all I had too. We can keep her moving. Roc: Ne next game that Dub and I were all over. Well I'm gonna I'm gonna be loud. I'm gonna give us our flowers when we're right, but we were all over this. Bengals thirty five, Ravens thirteen. Boom, dub. All over C-Dub: Yeah no Roc: it. It was a night night and day first half. First half it was I believe it was ten zero or thirteen zero going into halftime for the Ravens and the Bengals looked like they've never walked on a field, they couldn't catch anything. It Their offense was stagnant, it was horrible. And then I guess from reports is Jamar Chase said something at halftime to them, like was like pissed off and said something. And then they went out there and just bawled in the second half. Yeah. C-Dub: Handle business. They did. Roc: In C-Dub: I can't the one thing I can't believe is Snoop d threw for damn near three hundred. Snoop. Damn near it. Roc: Almost three hundred. Snoo. C-Dub: And they still found a way to lose. Roc: Handedly. C-Dub: and you could say, Snoop f threw for damn near three hundred. this, that. Bengals defense. Where was Derek Henry? Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: I think him and AJ Brown were tied for Milk Carton Man of the Week. Roc: I love that. I love that. C-Dub: Yeah, you held him for under fifty on seventeen carries. That's a damn good day as a defense. Granted, I think they were Roc: It is, it is. C-Dub: really key in on stopping Henry. Granted, let Snoop get Snoop. He's not a Lamar. and Zay Flowers broke some off. that inflated the numbers. Yeah, I think it inflated Roc: First what first drive he had the what, sixty yard touchdown or whatever it was, fifty yard touchdown? C-Dub: it it inflated the the passing numbers. But Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: they s they did what they were supposed to do, and they got a win against the division opponent. my question for you though, Rock. Roc: Mm-hmm. C-Dub: Is this a panic button for the Ravens? Is this a is this a h is this a push the red button? Roc: don't think it is but depending on Lamar's health. If L Lamar gets back, if I 'cause I thought he was gonna play. If I thought he was gonna play this week. If Lamar's back then there's nothing to panic about, in my opinion. But if he doesn't come back and he's still out then y then yeah, I mean that's not crazy to say. C-Dub: with their division, everyone's over five hundred win percentage. And the t the Roc: Yeah. Yeah. But C-Dub: the teams are p the teams in their division are finding ways to win. Every every Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: team gotta win except the Ravens this week. I mean, I'm more so it's panic button time and Lamar you need Lamar back now. And he's supposed to be. I for me it's a panic button. Roc: I'm not so much panic button because the season comes down towards the end of the year they play their divisional games towards the end of the year. And if look C-Dub: Yeah, but they're already d they're already handicapped. Roc: if Lamar's healthy though for it, then I mean I I why would I not think that they would be considered favorites in those games? You're telling me right now if Ravens went up against the Steelers with Lamar, you're taking the Steelers? Come on. Dub. C-Dub: I don't r rock, I don't know. How do you it's I don't think it's that easy. Roc: I I alright, so I I'm saying I I I I do. I think the Ravens are a better team than the Steelers and Lamar is a top Yeah, no, I'm I'm C-Dub: Yeah, but it's a division game. Roc: just saying though. Tell me why both of us were all over the Bengals this week in a division game. Why were we both all over them? C-Dub: 'Cause Lamar didn't play. Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: But I still think what do you think if Lamar plays here that they win? Roc: It's not crazy to say that they they would it's not crazy. C-Dub: I don't know. Bengals put up thirty-five. granted, maybe if they d maybe since I got off the slow start, Ravens bounce b go for the throat quick. Maybe, but I d Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: I still think this is a dogfight going down the stretch. Maybe it gives them a chance. And you're you you already got two division losses, no wins. You're gonna have to Roc: Maybe I'm just holding Lamar in a higher higher regard than you are, but he dude, he's a dude. He's a t a top five two time MVP, unanimous MVP, C-Dub: Maybe I think you are. he is a dude. I'm not den I'm not denying that. I'm not No, for sure. Dude's a beast and I agree with you there, but well the way this division's playing, it's I think it's a tough ass to have the Ravens go and win out for the next their their the rest of their division games. Roc: Healthy Lamar. I don't if it's a healthy Lamar though, I don't think it's crazy. I I I really don't. I C-Dub: They're gonna have some splits. They're gonna have some splits. I Roc: I really don't. Because and again, the Browns are winning, the Steelers are winning. I I get that. But I both those teams I don't think are better than the Ravens if Lamar's healthy. That's why when we talked about a few weeks ago after week four, contenders are pretenders, and I said that the Bengals are contenders because I feel like they had the most upside in the division just because of Burrow Chase and Higgins. That's the only team that I think is better than the Ravens, right off rip in that division. I would still say Ravens are better than the Steelers and Browns, handedly. assuming that Lamar is healthy. If Lamar's out there, I'm taking the Ravens. That's just that's that's where I stand. That's where I stand. C-Dub: agre I would agree with you but it's not like what what's what what's the spread then? for the Roc: A what? C-Dub: against these division opponents. I wouldn't g I would I think they're still close. Like just I'm Roc: I'm I don't I don't care about this, but I'm just I'm yeah well it's it's divisional games. It's always gonna be a field goal, field goal and a half or three and a half, probably. That's C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: just cause that's the AFC North football. But I I would I would take the Ravens for money line, if for just winning. I don't care about the the spread. If the Ravens are three point favorites and they don't cover but they win, so be it. I think Lamar is that guy. And if you C-Dub: I think I I agree, but I think they're in a hole. They're in a hole and they're to dig us dig themselves out. I Lamar's good enough to do it, but I think I think we're sleeping on a lot of teams this in this division. That's all over five hundred again. Roc: Yeah, it's a good division. I don't know. That's that's where I that's where I stand. Joe Burrow balled out, just under three hundred, four tutties, T. Higgins, six for a hundred fifty and a touchdown, Jamar Chase, Beast. Bengals offense clicking right now. And they look good. C-Dub: Joe Vur Joe Burrow MVV conversation. Roc: Mm you can have the conversation, but I wouldn't put him up there with the other guys yet. Yes, yes. And he does this C-Dub: But he's creepin'. But he's creeping. Roc: every year. Starts slow and then he starts s heating up towards the towards the middle in the end. So yeah, come week eleven when he's probably leading the league in touchdown passes and top five in yards, then depending on record and depending on where they're at, I can definitely see that. We will. I'm good to move on if you're good. C-Dub: We'll have that conversation. Yes. Yeah, get it going. Roc: All right, next game. Browns twenty-seven, Titans twenty-four. Browns cover the one and a half spread. And we like we said, Brian, Browns just keep finding ways to win. But you're telling me with conviction that the Browns just beat the Tit Titans by three, barely, by the skin of their teeth. And you're sitting here saying a healthy Ravens and Lamar Jackson. I don't know if they can beat the Browns and C-Dub: Hey, Roc: Steelers. C-Dub: what have we what have we been saying? Roc: Come on, man. Come on, duh. C-Dub: What have we been saying this whole time? Good teams win. And they're finding ways to win. we had a Tony Powered Masterclass today. They look good. The Tit the Titans look good. Roc: Yes, yes, I I I agree. So so wait so the no Yeah, but come on, dude, it's the Titans. Come on. Come on. And again, I'm I'm I'm glad. I like I like C-Dub: It's a th hey, this is a week to week league. Roc: I like when the Browns are good and it's fun and I'm I'm I'm happy, but you can't say, like they find ways to win. What about Baltimore winning in Atlanta last week on the road when they were underdogs with Snoop Huntley in w what? We didn't say they found a way to win, it was, you know, they can't do that's just where I'm coming from. If you're gonna go one side, you gotta you you gotta choose a side, brother. C-Dub: Week to week league. I'm just saying. They they dug themselves a hole, but we'll get to I'll get to this game. I'll get to this game. I'll I'll move it forward 'cause some of us are living in the past. Roc: Yes. Yep. Yep. C-Dub: Bro Browns keep doing their thing. Deshaun Roc: Yes, they do. C-Dub: Watson, five game w winning drives this season. Roc: It's rinse and repeat every week. C-Dub: It's it's the script. It's their script and it's working. Roc: It's it is yeah. C-Dub: they take care of business. That's what the that's what this this division does. Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: covered I mean it was weird that the spread was so close at the end. And it's and I mean it's I think the Titans showed why. They played well. And it's it was a tough week to be Roc: Is it i is it the the is it the spread being one and a half saying that the Titans you thought the Titans played well or does that tell you that Vegas doesn't think that highly of the Browns? Be honest. C-Dub: Well the Vegas doesn't think that highly of some teams. Roc: Be no, I know, but be honest. What wha what what do you think? Do you Okay. All right, yeah. I and yeah, yeah. C-Dub: It's probably Vegas doesn't think too highly of the Browns. Yeah, I c I can agree on that. I'm just saying that. Roc: And don't get me wrong, I took the Browns all day of the week in this game 'cause that that spread I I I didn't under I thought they were gonna win by a lot more than they did. Like I Love the one and a half. I was all over the Browns. But C-Dub: at the end of the day we should be Vegas with our takes. With our with with this week. Except one that we'll get to. He did. Roc: Deshaun bald though went over 300. Judkins, just under a hundred yards, two tutties, Casey Concepcion, eight for 130. He's a stud rookie. And yeah, I'm I'm I'm glad that Cleveland's playing well. And like Munkin said, party at Deshaun's. C-Dub: No, it's Sean's. It's Sean's. Party at Sean's. Roc: Party at Sean. C-Dub: I don't wanna be there. I don't wanna be there. Roc: I don't know about that, brother. C-Dub: Yeah, I I think I'd rather be found at the Diddy Party. But Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: No, they played well, Judkins did well. I have him on my fantasy teams, so it was good to see him kinda kinda come to life in a game. pretty balanced attack on their end, with Concepcion and Judkins both both playing well. yeah, I mean this was an interesting game down the stretch. And I I I Roc: Yeah, it was a f it was a fun finish. C-Dub: I did say the Tit the Tennessee Titans played well, but Cam Ward still did not look good. Roc: No. He's coming up on what do they do this year when they probably have a top three pick. Do they go quarterback or do they if they get their hands on Jeremiah Smith, do they team him back up with Carnell Tate? I it's gonna be gonna be tough decisions down there in Nashville. I can't lie. And I wouldn't C-Dub: It will. It will. Roc: wanna be in the room for it right now. You've gotta go through tape, see if you actually love Cam Ward. It's it's gonna be tough. It's gonna tough decisions in my C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: opinion. C-Dub: I feel bad for Salah. Roc: Yeah. Salah. C-Dub: He's just he's just going to he's just is finding his way into bad bad organizations. granted it when a head when Roc: Yeah, he got jetted. He's getting tightened. C-Dub: when a head coaching position comes up and you want to be a head coach, you take it, no questions asked. Sometimes it works, sometimes Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: it doesn't, it just doesn't seem to be working with him. And a p a p Roc: Yeah, C-Dub: and I feel for the guy. Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: And I don't see the Titans getting any better. Roc: Not in the foreseeable future right now at least. I think there C-Dub: No. No. Roc: will be sellers. I think Jeffrey Simmons will probably get dealt at the deadline. He's stud defensive lineman. So they they'll probably get pretty good draft capital for him. Probably honestly C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: probably a first round pick, which would be nice. But I think they'll they'll probably sell a lot of their pieces. What a lot of their pieces. Like Pollard, we just talked about Pollard Masterclass. I think a contender team would probably say, Hey, I'll give you like a a fifth or a sixth for him. And either bolster up their running back group or if somebody goes down, I mean he's obviously serviceable. So C-Dub: for sure. Yeah. Roc: yeah. C-Dub: he was their bright spot. They kept it close. What more can you say? Roc: That's all I had on this game. Next game's going to be short and sweet, too. I really don't have much on the absolute beatdown that happened in Carolina. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 43. C-Dub: Yeah Roc: Carolina Panthers 13. And man, it was just an ugly beatdown. Baker Mayfield comes back, 64 passing yards and a touchdown, and they put up damn near 50 points. It was just a. C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: Very, very ugly and shitty game from the Panthers all around C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: that I really don't have much to say. Like I just don't have much to talk about. It's C-Dub: I got some things. Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: It's more so just when you th I kinda said this earlier, just when you think that NFC South has a top dog. There is no top dog. And they keep proving it to the Roc: Yeah, y you don't. There isn't, yeah. C-Dub: they keep proving it as I mean, it's crazy how much hate the NFC East gets as well, but Roc: Mm-hmm. C-Dub: I think this is the worst division of football. Roc: I think the only reason why this division isn't getting more hate is because it's become so so common, common practice that it's not even C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: worth your time saying, like this division sucks. It's just kinda like, you know, it's what what we expect now coming from that division after breeze and then left after since two thousand eighteen or whatever it was, two thousand nineteen is C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: last year. C-Dub: Yeah. Baker, seven completions, eleven attempts, you kinda hit the head on that. That's just a crazy stat and you win by this much. He d he Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: he didn't need to do anything. And they ran for two hundred fifty eight total yards. Roc: It was couple defensive touchdowns by the Bucks, a muff pump by the Panthers. I that was just the game is just a kind of a it was over C-Dub: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Roc: before it really even started. And that's just just how it played out. They Bucks went up early and that was it. It was like twenty six nothing to start off and it was C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: over from there. C-Dub: And rock. I did a lot of I did a deep dive on one stat and I could not find an answer. Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: I looked far and wide. For the last time a team had three running backs all rushed for over fifty yards. Sean Tucker, Kenneth Ganwell, and Roc: Three. C-Dub: Bucky Irving. All had over 50 yards. And I couldn't find another game where that happened. There definitely is. I had to go to chat. I went to my friend. Roc: Well but chapasa. C-Dub: Mr. GPT could not find a game. Roc: Really, I was just saying I'd I'd love to give it a guess if if ch I I would I would go against the the robot. C-Dub: I only did couple of years. I only did a couple of years and I could not find another game with Stat Line like this. it gave me somewhere like the quarterback also ran for over fifty. Roc: it probably you could I could definitely see like a Bills game or something like that. Or like James Cook, like Ray Davis, Josh Allen or something like that. C-Dub: There was a the most recent one I found was there was a Bears game recently where Monungai, Swift, and Williams all had over fifty. But that was the only game I could Roc: yeah. C-Dub: find. I think i I think it was earlier this year. But like I looked Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: like I think I looked back a couple seasons, I couldn't find anything, or else chat was just deceiving me. Which it could be. But AI should be at a level where it can Roc: Maybe we may C-Dub: tell me. Roc: Yeah, yeah. C-Dub: You what, maybe I'll do some more research, I'll get back to you guys on that. But I could not find a game, so that's a pretty cool stat. And my my fantasy woes is I played the Buccaneers defense in fantasy. They scored damn near twenty eight. Roc: Oof. Oof. I was gonna say over under what, thirty and a half points by them. I I Yeah. C-Dub: I think it was twenty eight. And I am now in a dogfight just because of that defense. Like I was supposed to win, and then that happens, and here we are. Roc: That's brutal. C-Dub: Here we are. Roc: That is brutal. Next game I got dub. Mm. Mm. C-Dub: Talk it. Roc: ATL, Atlanta Falcons twenty nine, San Francisco forty niners twenty. And I mean, we're just giving the public free plays. I said Falcons outright. Dub was all over it. He this was a part of our JSP that our w whatever we want to call it. I don't want to just call it JSP's parlay. It was JSP's Yeah. C-Dub: The lockstep lay. I think it's the lockstep lay. Roc: The locks up lay. Dub and I were literally like this. They say opposites connect or pull it whatever it is, opposites attract. C-Dub: Attract. Roc: No, Dub and I were we're like this. C-Dub: We were. We were. Great game. Roc: And it is exactly what I what I said, what what I what we talked about last week, both of us. It was this Falcons offense is good. It's fun. Ever since they got Penix. And the Niners have been beaten up. There's no Mike again this week. There's no Debo this week. And I just couldn't get it out of my head that Monday night football game, Mike Evans going down in the first half, tries to play in the second half, and then that the Niners offense just looks so stale and stagnant in the second half against Washington that That's all I could think about if he wasn't out there. C-Dub: Yeah. Yeah. Can we take a moment round of applause for Drake London? Roc: Yep, found box. He found box. It's about damn time. It's about damn time. C-Dub: It is. It is. aside from that, Bijan had a complete game. They find you find ways to get your best players involved. They're gonna do good things. I think Stefansky figured that out. I they're they're f the the this Atlanta team is figuring things out. and their defense just played great too. I mean, forced four turnovers. I mean granted that that one from Bates on the sideline and was that throwaway pass was Roc: Sick. C-Dub: just That's that's a that's a maddened play. Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: just diving on the sideline, great catch. then he th that then Roc: Clutch plays down the stretch. The rookie ru I don't even remember his name, rookie tipped Brock Purdy's pass when they were trying to come back in the fourth quarter, picked off to end the game, put it on ice. So yeah. Yep. C-Dub: And then Bates again, he punched the ball out from Kittle at the end to really to really seal the game. granted it was a nine point game. Eddie Pinero. Bye bye. Roc: Yep. CMC C-Dub: Good knowing ya. Good seeing ya. Roc: got a little banged up in this game, so again, Niners injury questions and concerns. Another it's like the Rain Man. Like the Rainman every every single year. It's you're gonna it's gonna come knocking. It's gonna come knocking and that substation, it it takes no prisoners, man. It takes no prisoners. It C-Dub: Never does. Yeah. Roc: doesn't care at all. It it will it will knock down one by one and yeah, Fun game. Even better when we bet on it and we were right. But that that's all I had. C-Dub: my a question for you. If you're offensive coordinator slash head coach, Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: would you have a hook and ladder installed in your offense? Roc: I would. I would. Y y you kinda have to have one just just for those those third and long, fourth and long plays. Detroit kinda glorified it a few years ago before everyone used to always everyone's doing it nowadays, but what, four three three or four years ago when they did it for the first time and they picked up a huge gain on a fourth and twenty one, picked up the first down, everyone was like starstruck about it, and now it's become so common that defenses are almost ready for it that it's just like, dude, it doesn't even work anymore. C-Dub: Yeah, that was I was just a I just remember seeing it during this game. I don't know. My take here is now with a lot of defenses, having those two two safeties up top, making you beat them underneath, it's a lot tougher to do now in this NFL, in this day and age, because you always have a safety valve somewhere. It's not like you can catch a defense sleeping unless you're on a zero blitz and you find a way to do it, but then how do you get how do you have time to set up a hook and ladder? A hook and ladder needs time. I think it's one of those it's a cool play. I think defense has kind of figured it out. And with the top with and with the with the top With defenses keeping the top on, it's a lot tougher to convert offense. Roc: Good to move on. C-Dub: Move us move us along there, Rock. Roc: And we are gonna close up the one o'clock slate with the New York football giants, baby. 27 Houston Texans, 21, an OT thriller, OT win, New York football, baby. The biggest upside of the week. Ten and a half point dogs by one o'clock Eastern Sunday. And damn it. JJ9 McCarthy, baby. I'll put my hand up. Hand up. I don't want. I hope I hope it's not like hyping it up too much, but man, I hope I was really, really, really, really, really wrong when we made this trade and I hated it. I hope JJ keeps playing the way that he played this past week and last week. C dub was all over it. He took G Men straight up. There was never C-Dub: yeah. Roc: a doubt. And damn it, this offense looks good. I just love how the ball is getting out of his hand. It just looks like it has juice. He's finding his guys. He's saying neighbors down there somewhere. He's throwing it to him. Scatback was back this week. Talk about being in the doghouse. And guess what? He heard the noise and he ran hard. C-Dub: Sure did. Sure did. Hey, Rock. I was on JJ early. Roc: All over it. C-Dub: I was on this team winning outright outright. It felt good. What a complete game. Both sides of the ball for the Giants. Against a against a scorching hot team. Roc: Yep. Yes. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. C-Dub: Away. They went in. Handle business. Roc: In NRG C-Dub: I do wanna we we we shout we we we did shout out Scat and neighbors. Great games. I mean I'll I'll got on the soapbox. I Neighbors has cemented himself as a top five wide receiver in this league. four straight a four straight a hundred yard games. Roc: Yeah. I I I the talent's always been there, it's gotta be healthy. Yep. C-Dub: Guys a workhorse. Fi he always has one deep bomb. You can just point at. And I mean that ball, I mean it's just back sh just outside shoulder. It's just beautiful balls. He's c he's he's got a defender on him. Roc: Quote card that, please. Can we quote card that? Beautiful balls. Beautiful balls. C-Dub: Beautiful balls. but I do want to point out one giant that had a really I mean the most calm 83 yards of all time. Roc: I I hope we're John. Yep. C-Dub: Malachi Fields, four catches, eighty three yards. He had one of the most quiet eighty three yard games I've had in a while. 'Cause there's there could 'cause there's a there's Roc: Great complimentary football by the rook. Great complimentary football by the rookie. C-Dub: a lot of guys that need their flowers on this Giants team. I think he he needs those. He needs his flowers. He's a rookie and he really stepped up. great complimentary football, as you said. He's a two. He's a number two. Roc: And a guy whose flowers I wanna shout out. The banks are closed on Sunday, brother. Tay Banks. C-Dub: I no, hey, give him all his flowers. Roc: He has been balling this year. Not even just this game, just week in and week out. I I knew week one, he gets put on an island against C D and yes, C D might have scored, whatever. You he might have been working him, but damn it, he was he's playing hard. He was in his chest, he he was making plays. And that was good things to come for the season. He's been playing so well this year for a guy that was such a bust. He was he was such a bust. First round pick. Really, really, really wanted him to succeed. He was so bad that the only snaps he was getting was kick return last year. Towards the end the year. It was kick returning. First round pick. And you're making him a a special teams guy. So shout out to Tay Banks. He's playing his balls off this year. And I love seeing C-Dub: It is. He is. Roc: that. I love seeing that. C-Dub: It's just amazing when you can put your best against their best. Rest of the defense is in a zone and you're just gimme that guy and you can just shut a guy down. Roc: Yep. Yep. C-Dub: It was beautiful to watch. I mean, Nico was nothing. And I mean, even last week, granted they lost, but he held Olave to forty three on four receptions. I mean, he's been doing it week in, week out. He's been doing it. Again, Abdul Carter showed up Roc: also you pr C-Dub: too. Roc: Yep. You've probably been seeing this clip too. It's been going around football Twitter. the Abdul or not Abdul Arvell Reese clip of him blitzing the A gap and not getting the sack on CJ Stroud. Stroud gets the ball off and I forget who he dumped it off to might have like Woody Marks or somebody. And he's running down the sidelines and Arvell Reese literally runs all the way in the backfield to try and go get Stroud. Doesn't get him, runs all the way back another twenty-five yards and chases down the guy who caught the ball. And that clip right there was what the Giants are trying to install into this culture. And it's just so nice that he was the guy. He was the first pick of the Harbaugh era, the first pick of this new culture, and he's just instilled that physicality and that like never quit effort. And hopefully that's just years to come. He is a he's a ballder dude. C-Dub: And I I'll say I was I I may have been giving some some not hate, but some question marks on Harbaugh after last week. I mean, he was happy, the whole team was happy. They were playing with conviction. He he galvanized Scat. He got the defense going. I mean, it was a full team win. And it it seemed like everyone was bought in. There was there was no point Roc: Yeah. Yep. C-Dub: in that game where they they took their foot off the pedal. It seemed it was a complete game through and through. Now on the detec we can talk about the Texans a little bit. They fall to two and five. Roc: Yeah. Where do you go from here? C-Dub: This is one of those games where you're gonna regret losing down the stretch. Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: This game right here being ten p ten and a half point favorites. Roc: I mean this game and the Bills game to start the year. Lassiter catches that pick against Josh Allen. They win. They have a lot of these games, honestly, that just like I mean, not saying they did this not saying like this game could have went their way. It could have because it was a OT game, but just like some bad losses that they're gonna regret regret going C-Dub: Yep. Roc: in the year. C-Dub: Bad losses with a defense that is not playing up to its potential. They look bad. Daniil Hunter, nowhere to be seen. Will Anderson really nowhere to be seen. And they were getting sucked they were getting sucked dry on the they're lining them up both on the same side. Something that worked. They did they did nothing. They didn't really do much against a rookie not a rookie quarterback, but a quarterback that hasn't gotten many looks. Roc: Mm-hmm. C-Dub: You would have thought JJ was playing with that squad since he was in Pop Warner. The way that defense was giving time and making them making them make plays. Yeah, it's one of those things where I just ask what's wrong. Roc: I don't know. I don't know. And yeah, a one of the the most bet on teams to come out of the AFC this year before the season started and it just hasn't lived up to it. And C-Dub: I'm guilty. I'm guilty. Roc: yeah, I I I really I I don't know because the offense is playing so well and the defense is not not doing their job this year. The the thing that I I will say is like why it's not working this year for the defense is cause film obviously the the eye in the sky doesn't lie. And once you teams get tape on you, they know they know what you're doing. The Texans were so good last year that literally all they would do is just line up in man coverage. Cover two, man, let their pass rush guys go and get the quarterback and they told everybody, We're playing man coverage. There's no disguise, no anything, no scheme no schematics, no nothing. Just we have the best guys out on the field. We're gonna line up one on one on you guys and we're gonna win every single rep. Offenses know that they're doing the exact same thing again this year, and they have a whole year of tape that they can game plan for and it's just not working out now because they are exploiting that every single game. And it's week in and week out. And until that changes, until they start making a change on coverages and schemes and running bluffs and bluffs on top of blitzes, it's like it's not gonna if they don't disguise anything then they're it's not it's not gonna get better. N it's not gonna get better. C-Dub: Yeah. I I don't even know why I wrote this. I think I I think I'm an idiot now. can I say something? D'Amico Ryans. Hasi. Roc: Hassi, that's not crazy. That's not crazy. I've seen I've seen things on it 'cause he starts three out of the last four. He's been there four years now and they've started off omen three. It's not crazy at all. I I don't know. C-Dub: I that's my whole th they find a way to do it every year. But I Roc: It's like it's not crazy because of production wise, like they they haven't they haven't been what we expect them to be. Like, you know, we C-Dub: No. Roc: we expect them to take these leaps and they haven't been good, but they somehow keep on finding ways to get into the playoffs and then they win a playoff game or two every year. So it's like you can't fire him when he's doing that. But I don't know. I think they would have to miss the playoffs completely this year and like badly, like have like a top like seven pick for there to be an actual discussion about okay, he could get fired. Yeah. C-Dub: Conver a conversation. Yeah. Yeah yeah, I gotcha. Roc: All set on that end? That and that that C-Dub: Man w man wanna win. man. Roc: JJ McCarthy speech in the locker room afterwards got me got me wired. It got me fired up. It seems like they're all Yeah. Yeah. C-Dub: got me fired up. Okay, wait, no no, last thing. I got one more after you, but keep going. Roc: No, no, it just seems like they're all bought in with him. They all have his back and I I'm happy for him, honestly. Because he's been through he's been through the ringer. C-Dub: yeah. Yeah. I was hung over on my couch watching this game. Barely Roc: yeah. C-Dub: a barely a barely a pulse on me. Just just enjoying watching the game. Scat gets that penalty for running into someone Roc: I'm not saying roughness. Yeah. C-Dub: the hangover left my body that instant. I Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: I I I scr I stood up screaming. And I was I was saying the same exact shit they were. We can't play football. We can't Roc: F the water, F the electrolytes, a F the Advil, F the Tylenol. Give me some scat back hard nose running to get cure a hangover, baby. To cure a hangover. C-Dub: We can't play football. We can't play football. dude, I stood up. I was screaming. I was so mad. But that's what Scat's gonna give you. That's what Scat's gonna give you. Roc: That's all you need. The necessities. The necessities. C-Dub: And it was awesome. It was awesome. Revive me. Thank you s thank you, Cam. Thank you, Cam. Roc: Amen. Now we move on to the late slates. Sunday's late slate. First game. Denver Broncos thirty, Cardinals sixteen. And yeah, kind of just a dominant performance by the Broncos. I watched this whole game. Though I can't even say their offense kinda like got going. It it got going a little bit, I guess. Bo Nicks had a sick seventy yard run touchdown. Like I don't want to like sit here and glaze them 'cause they are like my squad. Like The offense looked a little bit better, but nothing crazy. C-Dub: They Roc: I've still like it's the Cardinals, C-Dub: My meme my meme for the Broncos is like the breaking bad. They can't keep getting away with it. They Roc: Yeah, yeah. C-Dub: can't keep getting away with it. But they handle business. What can I say? I know it's your squad. I saw a cool stat online. Bonix is the fourth quarterback to have a over fifty yard rushing touchdown and throw a fifty yard receiving touchdown in the game. Roc: in the game, I didn't know that. C-Dub: The fourth. Do you know the other three? Roc: Okay, so off the top of my head, I know the last two quarterbacks that had a fifty plus rushing yard touchdown was Justin Fields had a sixty something yarder, and Joe Burrow, I think, had a fifty yarder against the Giants in a prime time game. I don't know if they threw a fifty yard touchdown pass that same game, but those two I know ran one. So I'm gonna say Justin Fields and Joe Burrow would be the other two. C-Dub: You got Justin Fields right. Roc: Joe Burrow wasn't? C-Dub: Joe Bro did not know. He must not have thrown over a fifty yard touchdown that game. Roc: okay, okay. Because he did have the Russian one. So Justin C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: Fields I know he was the last one. He was the the furthest one since this past one. I've C-Dub: Yes. Same guy in that year though also got it. Twenty two. Yep. Yep. Yeah. And then you gotta go back to twenty Roc: Probably Lamar, if it's twenty two. Yeah, what it was yep. And then what, Vic? C-Dub: twelve. Roc: Cam Newton, Vic, Cam Newton, there you go. Boom. That's a sick stat though for for Bo Nicks. I mean w one of these things not C-Dub: Yep, yep, Cam Doen. Cam Newen. So those are the four. Yeah. Cool stat. Yeah, no, I yeah, cool stat. Joins a pretty cool crew. Roc: like the other, but yeah. C-Dub: Yeah. he didn't do an he didn't do anything stupid. That was my main takeaway from this. He didn't really have any boneheaded Roc: Yeah. It was just a C-Dub: do duh pick picks. Like they played well. I mean, granted office didn't Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: didn't click. They didn't click like like crazy, Roc: Still not. C-Dub: but they put up thirty. They did it they did what they had to do. Against a bad team. Roc: They did what they had to do and they got another win without their top corners. No mo no certain, no moss. So, they're they're a good squad C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: and that's all I gotta say about this game. C-Dub: I got one more thing. shout out Trey McBride on my fantasy team. Shout out Trey McBride. Roc: Thailand's Day, baby. C-Dub: Denver. Next week. They play the Chiefs. Roc: Okay. And this will be in Arrowhead, I wanna say? Or no? Well what was week one? I'm trying to remember C-Dub: I believe so. I don't know. What they play they played Roc: no, week one was in Arrowhead, I think. C-Dub: I I th I think it was and then they they got they got smoked out. Roc: So this is gonna be in this is gonna be in in High Mark. Er, C-Dub: Guess the line for me. Roc: not High Mark. I I would say I'm also a Broncos stand. This is gonna be in mile high. I'm gonna say Broncos minus one and a half. C-Dub: It's Chiefs, minus one and a half. You got the number right. And I Roc: So then I I guess I have to be all over I had to be all over the Broncos, right? C-Dub: Can I say something, Rocco? I am too. All over the Roc: Yeah. Let's go, baby. Let's go. C-Dub: Broncos, if that's the line If if it's Thursday morning and that's the line, damn it. I'm a sicko. I'm a sicko. Roc: I hey, come come Wednesday night when we do our we weekend preview. We'll see where our heads align and maybe we have another parlay that that that we that we ride. C-Dub: I I I might be a bosexual. I might be bosexual. Ugh Roc: I join the club, brother. Join the club. C-Dub: Yeah. We'll see how it goes though. Roc: Next game, Rams thirty-five, Raiders twenty-one, and I kind of feel like I was all over this game. I said it was gonna be a get right game by the Rams, and I expected them to put up a number. They couldn't get to a spot where they fell to two and six or two and two and five. They just they they couldn't. And yeah, just dominant win by the the Rams. The score was a lot closer than the actual game, because it was like thirty five to ten, I want to say at one point, thirty five to Thirty five fourteen at one point. I don't know. It was C-Dub: I think it was thirty five fourteen, yeah. Roc: yeah, it was, you know, just a a good good old fashioned dominant win. They put up twenty eight in the first half, the Rams. And it kinda seemed like what we talked about with the Panthers game is kinda just over before it started, in my opinion. And yeah, I I feel like I already know what you're gonna ask. The the Mendoza question or no? C-Dub: I was, but I was also gonna say I it wouldn't have been a complete Christian betting week if I didn't get one completely wrong. And I did. And I did. I got this one wrong. They have the Raiders just have no run game. Genty's pretty much just a receiver. That's how they're playing Roc: Crazy that they wasted a top ten pick on him right now when C-Dub: Yeah. I'm gonna c I and my one point, my one takeaway, I'm gonna keep saying it every week, this Rams team's gonna keep finding wins. I'm gonna be really pissed off when they make the playoffs at the end of the year and look so good after starting so bad. It's gonna piss me off. But I'm gonna be okay. And they are and two in their division. Roc: I'm heaven. C-Dub: They're and two in their division, and it seems like a lot of those teams in that division are kinda turning it around. So we'll see where it goes from there. But Yeah, Mendoza question. Please Rocco enlighten me. Roc: It it's gonna be broad it's already been brought up to Kupjak this week and he still has no comment on it. They asked Kirk Cousins after the game about it, like should you even be starting still? And it's not like Kirk played bad. He three hundred yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions. He's playing well. It's I I think though, again, they see the light of the tunnel. They realize that that three and start was a you know, they they caught fire earlier or whatever, they were just w winning against bad teams. That were worse them. And I think Kirk will be a good ad to a team that might want to make a trade at the deadline. I if I if I'm the Raiders, why not? Why C-Dub: Yeah, no, no, that that's not crazy. Roc: not see if he's sellable getting in start Mendoza after the deadline? Because like they they see this, they see the writing on the wall. They're they're not a playoff team anymore. And that story, that narrative was fun, and they rolled with it. And it's Kirk still playing well, so it's not like You can bench him because of his play. It's just you would have to go to Mendoza once you know that you're done with the playoff spot. And it's like that's soon, honestly. Which sucks. But C-Dub: It is soon. No, I don't I don't think that's a bad take. I was kinda thinking that too. I think there are some teams that would deal for Kirk. Roc: Yeah, why not? depending on how tonight goes, if Philly wins this game against Dallas and they get back into the mix in an NFC East that people are still saying is open, they still have two games against the Giants, who is leading it right now. Why if I'm Philly, why wouldn't you just see, indulge and see what the Raiders C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: would want for him? 'Cause he's been playing very, very, very good football this year. So C-Dub: No, he has. He has. He has. But it's one of those where you wanna get you wanna get your your one one guy take reps at some point. I d I I don't think it's a crazy take though, at the deadline. Shipping out somewhere, getting something in return. Roc: No. No. I I think it would be a good move, honestly, for the Raiders and for whatever team needs them. it'd be it'd be cool to see Kirk go to a team if playing assuming he plays this well, go into a team that could be in the mix down the stretch. C-Dub: Yeah, yeah. No, for sure. Roc: Next game, Lions twenty, Packers seventeen. a letdown game from what we thought. We thought it was gonna game of the week, points, points, points. And of course, this is the first time a Lions game this year didn't go over. And we were all over the Lions. This was also in our parlay. So that that hit. But it was just like a I don't want to say like a letdown game, 'cause it like underwhelming game, 'cause it was still sick. It was still a Seventeen seventeen game going into fourth quarter, Lions win game winning field goal, whatever. It was still a fun game, but I I wanted it to be kind of like a you know, forty two thirty eight game or something something cool like that. C-Dub: Yeah, it was it was a weird game. Both teams were trying to lose it at s at down the stretch at the end there. also a Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: weird pa weird penalty game. There were some there were some brute some brutal calls where Roc: Bad penalty game. C-Dub: I think the Packers got more screwed than the Lions did when all was said and done. That one roughing the passer call was a little brutal. Roc: Very C-Dub: But as a as a better for the Lions, that was that was an egregious hit on Goff. And that should Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: be banned that kind of hit should be banned from the league. Roc: I agree. I agree. C-Dub: But no, it was Roc: There's no place for that in this there's no place for that in today's game. There's none. C-Dub: Yeah, as a better, that was my take. but yeah, I know there's some weird calls. And can I be honest, Rock? when Dan Campbell went for it on their own twenty-five, I wanted my bet to lose. I wanted to lose Roc: Yeah. Yeah, that C-Dub: my bet after that. I wanted him to get in trouble for being an idiot. Roc: It was really dumb. Really dumb. Like I I get letting your nuts hang and I love it. And that's why you love DC D like C-Dub: No, I lo no, and I'm a Dan Campbell guy. I'm a guy. Roc: Yeah, same. It's it's just like, dude, what are you doing? C-Dub: Ugh, that no, that one was wild. Kicker misses it. I mean, that's another guy who lost his job. Hate to see it. Shmack. Yeah. No, so Roc: Yeah. Schmack is his name. Smack. And C-Dub: too bad there. and the Lions, as we said, play the Vikings next. Coming off a win here. I mean Lions are favorites as we stated. I think it'll be an it'll be a fun game. Roc: I think it'll be a fun game. good versus good. Vikings defense good. Lions offense good. Good versus good. I'd C-Dub: Yeah. Yeah. Roc: I had two notes that kinda go hand in hand here before we get off of this game because I I really didn't have anything else. But the Packers have a case of the drops. Another week where they're dropping bunnies, dropping touchdowns, dropping big plays. Matthew Golden again. He had two drops last week, another drop this week for big chunk plays, touchdowns possibly. So that Doesn't help and it's that's just all mental. It's crazy 'cause these athletes are studs. They're unbelievable. They can do crazy things and then just the little psychological stuff. It's like when a putter gets gets the yips in golf and you can't make a three foot putt. It's just it's weird. And C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: Josh Jacobs returned and it really didn't didn't mean much for the Packers run game. Eleven carries, thirty six yards. Still just non Yeah. C-Dub: No, got active in the past game, but nothing for the run. Roc: Big touchdown there in the second half, but yeah, the run game's just still not Not a threat and barely barely has life. And we get into the Sunday night football game, man. Seahawks twenty, Chiefs three, dub. C-Dub: Rocco, it is better Roc: Yeah, man. C-Dub: to die a loser than a coward. And we who are not cowards. Roc: I agree. I agree. Yeah, dub. Dude, that game Chiefs offensively offensively was just pathetic, man. Absolutely pathetic. This is the first time in the entirety of the ten plus years, Mahomes and Reed era, that the Chiefs failed to make a red zone trip. They didn't even make it in the twenty yard line. Christian Abbadessa: mean, yeah. Roc: A red zone trip. Are you kidding me? Christian Abbadessa: It was a stinker. It was an all-around stinker. as betters, if it it it really sucked to see the the last leg of the JSB Roc: Song. Christian Abbadessa: lockstep lay, we were so locked in, and this is the one that we fall short on. I would have rather it'd been a one o'clock game. Because I Roc: But Christian Abbadessa: it was terrible. I mean, we've we've been harping on it. That Hawks defense, they really showed up. Roc: In insane. They're fast. They're everywhere. They're fast, long, paused. They they young. They they're everywhere, man. They i it's actually they have twelve men on the field. Truthfully, it's like they have twelve men on the field. And that's Christian Abbadessa: Yeah. Roc: the catalyst to this team right there is that Hawks defense. It's what propelled them on that run last year and why they were so dominant down the stretch those last damn it, twelve games of the season, counting in the regular season and That's why you can't quit on this team. No matter how the offense looks, no matter how JSN dependent they are, it's that that defense is still gonna show up each and every week and they can win you games just like that. Christian Abbadessa: Hey, and the I I called out the twelves and and they called back. They called Roc: Yeah, it did. Christian Abbadessa: back. I think I'll Chiefs fans out there, I'll take the blame for this one. I woke up a sleeping giant. I did, and Roc: Hand up. It happens. It happens. Christian Abbadessa: it honestly should have been a worse score because Darnold had that one dud up pick in the end zone. Like they Roc: Yeah. Christian Abbadessa: should have gotten away with at least three there. Roc: I'll say, 'cause I I have no more notes on this Chiefs Chiefs offense. They're just so K9's the only explosive guy on that team. Like we mentioned before like I mentioned last week, they need to go make a trade. Worthy isn't that guy. Another drop. That's the first time that I've seen Mahomes ever be that passionate about a person dropping the ball. Normally he's like the takes the high road, is the cool, calm leader of the group. And he was pissed off that Worthy had another drop right in the breadbasket. So I'm not gonna that's no notes on the the offense anymore. I two things I'd say about Seattle's offense. Again, JSN, nuclear, nine for one fifty in a tutty. And you see how much better Sam Darnold looks when they g have a run game that gets going. Emmanuel Wilson, twenty four carries, a hundred yards and a touchdown, and he looked like he was light years better than Mahomes in that game. Which is crazy. Because if they can just get some type of run game, it's night and day from what they've looked like. And that's that's Christian Abbadessa: Mm-hmm. Roc: why they looked so good in the playoffs last year. It's 'cause K9 was carrying that rock, he was toting that thing. Darnold pulls and he he doesn't it's not all the pressure's not on him. So if they can get the run game Christian Abbadessa: Yep. Completely. Roc: going, then yeah. Christian Abbadessa: Yeah, they look scary. They look like the team of old. It's been a while, but they they really showed out and it was it was a do or die game for them, honestly. Roc: Yeah. Christian Abbadessa: and they showed up. That's all that's all there is to it. it sucks to go to go to fall on your sword there being us, betting on the Chiefs, and y you just think of primetime Mahomes. You think of all these times he showed out and it just looks stagnant. And my question to you, Rocco, you brought it up earlier is they don't have a burner. Roc: No. Christian Abbadessa: The Chiefs don't have a burner and I think that's my one I think that team only works if they have one. They have to have a deep Roc: They have. Christian Abbadessa: ball threat to open up the short game for Kelsey. granted he did find the soft zones here and there, but it wasn't anything crazy. Didn't get them did not get them to the red zone. Roc: Yeah. Christian Abbadessa: Yeah, this team only works if you have a burner. And you said it you said it earlier. I think they're gonna be buyers. They have to be buyers. There's gonna be some Roc: They have to be. They have to. Christian Abbadessa: because they're they're still a good squad. Their defense played well. Bet they were a lot of bend don't break. And then JSN would take the top off, Roc: They just need some explosiveness. They need some explosiveness. Yeah. Christian Abbadessa: Yeah, yeah, and that's all there is to it. Roc: I we talked about this is my last note that I had on this game was we talked about hypothetical Jonathan Taylor trades. I would love to see him in Seattle. Christian Abbadessa: That would that would that that would be I can't even imagine that team. I don't even watch what match I have same. Roc: I don't know what it would be worth. I would assume that 'cause he is twenty eight, so he's on s gonna be on the second half of his career. And he already got paid. I assume it'd probably be like a second or third round pick. And if I'm Seattle, I don't know why you wouldn't do it. If you want to propel and try and go back to back, now's the time. You have the youngest defense in the league, like all your good studs are on their rookie contract. Why not why not go for it again? Christian Abbadessa: Yep. Why not? Yeah. No no, I completely agree. Locks up with there. Roc: But I I I'd love to see that. But yeah, that one that one hurt. Made it all the way to Sunday night and our our parlay didn't didn't hit sadly. But we went out with with with the people. We went out with the vote. We went out with our integrity. Damn it. Our tegrity. And Christian Abbadessa: Damn it. Damn it. Roc: I and I'm gonna keep my chin up and I'm gonna hold yours up. And we you wanna know what it is? Christian Abbadessa: Shit, it's a lot of fun. Roc: We always got next week, brother. Christian Abbadessa: Always, always. We'll be hey, we'll find some lockstep. We'll find some lop step next pod. I'm not worried about it. We'll be right Roc: Yeah. No doubt. No doubt. Christian Abbadessa: back we'll be right back at it. Roc: Yeah. And we are going into the final game of the week, Monday night football. Tonight's game, Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles. We're gonna give our quick takes before the game starts. We're filming this about fifteen minutes before the game starts. So we're either gonna look really, really, really smart or like a couple of idiots in a few hours. Dub, quick takes, go. Christian Abbadessa: Yep. I just have Cowboys covering. That's all Roc: Okay. And Christian Abbadessa: I got. Roc: weirdly enough, I don't know why. Gut feeling I have Eagles in this one. Outright. I don't know why. Christian Abbadessa: Fair. That's fair. Roc: It's it's gonna be gross and I really don't want it. I wanna see I I don't wanna see I w I wanna see a tie, honestly. Just being a Giants fan, I wanna see a tie. I don't wanna see a win. But Christian Abbadessa: Hell yeah. Roc: if if I had to go with the better of two evils, I I would want to see a fun Cowboys offense win, like put up like forty two, like that goes for like four hundred C D pickings they all go crazy. For some reason though in Philly on a Monday night, I I have a weird feeling that Eagles are gonna get an an ugly win tonight. Christian Abbadessa: Yeah. I mean, I think it's a fair take. I just think this is a Cowboys panic button, like if they wanna make a run in this division. I think that's the only way Roc: Yes. Christian Abbadessa: winning the division I think is the only way they get in the playoffs. They gotta do something here. Roc: Yes, agreed. So Christian Abbadessa: So that's that's only that's the really the only reason I'm taking them. Roc: So we'll see you guys on the flip side of this game and we'll find out in this nice little NFC beast battle. Christian Abbadessa: Sounds good. See you boys. Roc: Peace. C-Dub: And then there was one. I'm just doing this under my computer. Game just ended. As a Giants fan, I'm not impressed with any any of these teams. Eagles, Cowboys. Ugh. I'll leave you guys with this. Parlay hit. We had Dallas moneyline. We had Pickens anytime. We had Dak to throw two touchdowns. They took care of business. Their their defense looked good, but I mean it's Tanner McKee and a hurt Saquon. I'm not too worried. If Giants don't win this division, I'll be I'll be hurt. And that's all I got. Peace and love, y'all.
