- 0:09Hey guys, and welcome back. You're listening to Galaxy
- 0:12Crashers, The Busted, and McFly podcast.
- 0:15The only place where Busted and McFly come together, hosted by
- 0:19us to 30 something year olds who are mentally still wearing sweat
- 0:23bands and chequered bands like it's 2005.
- 0:27I'm Sham. And I'm Tay and today I am
- 0:31genuinely, genuinely very excited because this episode is
- 0:34chaotic in the best way. We've got this or that, which
- 0:37I'm excited for this week because I don't actually have a
- 0:39this or that today. And I don't know what my this or
- 0:41that's are from Shannon. So it's going to be a very on
- 0:44off the cuff kind of thing this time.
- 0:47It's. Yeah, exactly.
- 0:48It's very unhinged for song of the week.
- 0:50We are diving into one of the most random McFly songs ever.
- 0:54It's Broccoli. A song that truly makes you go.
- 0:58Why is this song about vegetables and why do I love it?
- 1:02We've also got Coke Corner and it's Naughties Lost Movies this
- 1:06week and we've got an absolute Corker for you in that movie
- 1:11section. But before we get into it, how's
- 1:15your week been? It's been a little bit crazy,
- 1:19I'm not going to lie. Actually, when I say, when I say
- 1:22week, I mean today. Today has just been like shit
- 1:25after shit after shit after shit, I'm not going to lie.
- 1:27And one of those shits was literal because my toddler.
- 1:29Shit was a little shit. Which wasn't great.
- 1:32Sorry for TMI but yeah it's been a bit mad.
- 1:36I had a market on Saturday with Crystal Pixie Co which was my
- 1:41other little side hustle. Nobody knows.
- 1:44Go and check it out for all your crystal and crystal jewellery
- 1:46needs. It's.
- 1:47One that's. Little plug there.
- 1:49Yeah, the names at the bottom of the TikTok live if you're
- 1:51watching. I had a market on Saturday and
- 1:53it went very, very well. It was so much fun.
- 1:56I sold loads and loads of things and it was just so lovely to
- 1:59sell jewellery that I've made and like people actually love
- 2:02it. And I was like, oh, I've made
- 2:04this myself, do you know what I mean?
- 2:06When you make something yourself and somebody loves it.
- 2:07So yeah, that was great. And we had the in laws down for
- 2:11the bank holiday, which was so nice because not only does it
- 2:14mean we get to have a bit of like chill time in the evening,
- 2:17we played some games. We had a little bit of fun, like
- 2:19all together like, and just nice to have, you know, other humans
- 2:23to speak to. But Jack's mum's great.
- 2:26Every time she's here, she's like, you go back to bed, I'll
- 2:29have Molly, You go back to bed, love.
- 2:31I love that. I could cry when somebody offers
- 2:36me a lion. I am like ABS so frigging
- 2:38lately. Thank you so much.
- 2:39Do not offer it to me if you don't mean it because I'm going
- 2:41to take it. So yeah, other than other than
- 2:45those things were great. But today's been a little bit
- 2:47mental. Like I said, toddler issues,
- 2:50toddler tantrums, toddler meltdowns.
- 2:53My dog ate a whole box of raisins.
- 2:55Not great when raisins are poisonous for dogs.
- 2:57So spent £120 on making my dog sick, which was great, honestly,
- 3:04just not a great day. But other than that, you know,
- 3:06I've, I've got you, I've got the pod.
- 3:08We're we're very, very excited. Yeah.
- 3:11And that's it. That's it's fine.
- 3:12We're past it now. We, we continue, we push on.
- 3:16Today is a new no, Tomorrow is a new day.
- 3:18Not today. Yeah, today, yes.
- 3:20We're almost at the end of it. Exactly how is your bank holiday
- 3:23weekend? Have you had lots of fun?
- 3:25It was OK. It was intense.
- 3:27We did a lot, we like, squeezed a lot in and now I feel like I
- 3:31need another weekend to recover. Absolutely.
- 3:34But yeah, it was fine. We went to a pirate festival in
- 3:37Brixham, which is really cool. We go every single year, but
- 3:41this is the first year where it was like really wet.
- 3:43It's never like rained when we were there.
- 3:47This year it did and it rained bad to the point where we like
- 3:50paid to go on. There's this like real pirate
- 3:53ship and we always look at it, but we're never like, we never
- 3:56go on it because it costs money to go on it.
- 3:57This year we were like, we need to be undercover.
- 4:01Right. Love that.
- 4:02Let's go on the pirate ship. 30 lbs later we're doing this
- 4:05treasure hunt with this piece of paper that when we got back to
- 4:08the woman she was like, sorry we can't use that.
- 4:12And I was like, I have done this whole, not only have I done this
- 4:17whole treasure treasured map thing, but I've done it twice
- 4:21because my kids don't want to do it.
- 4:23But I want to get whatever I can out of this because it costs me
- 4:26£30. Because I've paid for it.
- 4:28Yeah, And now you're telling me I can't.
- 4:29And then there was, like, a mermaid at the end that, like,
- 4:33helped you ring the bell. And my youngest daughter is
- 4:36mermaid obsessed. She loves mermaids so much.
- 4:41And I was like, do you mind if my child has a photo with you,
- 4:45please? And she was like, make it quick.
- 4:48And I was like, Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness.
- 4:53She was like. And then Arya was like, Ari is
- 4:56so oblivious. She and she wanted to talk to
- 4:58her about her new toy and she wanted to invite her to a
- 5:01birthday party. And she was like, I'm having a
- 5:04mermaid birthday party and I'm going to have mermaid toys and
- 5:09I'm going to have a mermaid blanket where I can put my feet
- 5:12in and my feet are going to look like yours.
- 5:14And the woman was like Lance. She didn't care at all.
- 5:17Yeah, she was so sad. I know.
- 5:20Autumn was rolling her eyes so much I was like hey, I'm.
- 5:25So I'm very excited for Autumn's teenage years because she's
- 5:28getting closer and closer every day and I just know she's going
- 5:30to be the sassiest little bitch. She or it is the sassiest.
- 5:34The amount of time she goes, no one cares.
- 5:37Are you joking? Say Molly.
- 5:40Molly likes the phrase from Bluey that the Unicorn says.
- 5:43Do you never remember that one? Where should I go?
- 5:46Where? Should I go?
- 5:48So I've got a feeling we're going to hear that.
- 5:51So funny. No Autumn always goes and also
- 5:54she gives me evils and I said to the other day I was like that
- 5:56don't work on me mate. I invented them and she was
- 6:00like, you invented what eyes? I was like Oh my goodness, I'm
- 6:04going to punch you. I'm not but I'm going to do it
- 6:08in my head. What?
- 6:09Eyes. What eyes I know car and then
- 6:14the next day we Oh my God, I was up at the crack of dawn.
- 6:19I don't know if I've mentioned it on the podcast, but I've
- 6:21mentioned it every second of my life since it happened.
- 6:25Our MOT failed its our MOT, our car failed its MOT so bad that
- 6:31they were like just scrap it. So we haven't had a car in
- 6:34weeks. One popped up on Facebook and I
- 6:37was like, this is really close and it looks really nice and
- 6:40it's a Qashqai. And when I tell you I've got
- 6:42like a fetish for Qashqai's, I see them on the street and I'm
- 6:45like, I want one. I want one.
- 6:48We went to view it. It was a polisher, but we got up
- 6:53at like 7:00 AM to go and view it.
- 6:55And I was like my one weekend that I can that Bradley's
- 7:00Bradley was home, so I was like, he could watch the girls.
- 7:03Nope, no. Well I sat, yeah, he could watch
- 7:07the girls while I sat, but no, no, he we had to go and view the
- 7:10car. It was rubbish.
- 7:11And then we ended up viewing 1 yesterday and it was actually
- 7:13very good and we bought it and it was supposed to be 1500 but
- 7:18they knocked off 500 lbs for us because we bought Bradley's dad
- 7:20and he's a haggler. And then we sold our other one
- 7:24for £500. So girl math the car was only
- 7:27£500. Bargain.
- 7:29That's how it works, right? I mean, it is really pretty
- 7:34much, yeah, absolutely, I'm there.
- 7:36For it one and then obviously today was back at work and I
- 7:39feel like you can really feel when it's been a bank holiday
- 7:42through the kids, they're just like feral.
- 7:44Feral, yeah. Absolutely, it was awful and
- 7:48then I left school. I was like fuck this I'm just
- 7:51going to sit and doom scroll on my phone.
- 7:53I ended up signing up for a Taylor Swift themed 10K run.
- 7:57Shut the front door. Honestly, I was like, I was
- 8:01like, do you know what? I'm doing something for me.
- 8:04When is it? Am I gonna get to 10K by that
- 8:06point because I've still got my TTPD dress?
- 8:10Mate, you're supposed to so it's virtual so you can do it
- 8:13whenever. So we could do it.
- 8:15I'll do it as far as time there's a birthday one there is
- 8:20Stumble on home to my car and it's a long time coming.
- 8:25And when I tell you I mainly signed up because they gave you
- 8:28a Taylor Swift playlist, you get a cat themed medal at the end.
- 8:33Brilliant. And you get a bottle that says
- 8:35in my running era. Love that.
- 8:37I mean if. You are, That's the only reason.
- 8:40That's the era you're in. You're in your hair journey.
- 8:43But yeah, I was like, if that's the only reason why I sign up,
- 8:46then then sign me up. I'm having that calm, proud of.
- 8:49You absolutely proud of you. That sounds great.
- 8:52I mean why not? Who?
- 8:54Who doesn't want to do a Taylor Swift themed 10K?
- 8:57Nobody I want to be. Friends with Yeah, it's time for
- 9:03this or that. So this week I'm doing the list
- 9:07of that I'm taking over and I'm giving us a bit of a battle of
- 9:11the band Styley. It's the last song of the album
- 9:15and I just thought, do you know what?
- 9:17Let's just go all out. So should I just start straight
- 9:21away? Do you want to go?
- 9:23Say, Or should we just win? No preparation whatsoever.
- 9:26No, I'm buzzing. It's nice to not actually know
- 9:28what I'm going to like. Know what I'm going to say?
- 9:30Nice, so first one is broccoli or she wants to be me.
- 9:39Shannon, you can't do that to me.
- 9:41I did it, I did it. I'm a killer for these.
- 9:45Oh no. Broccoli or she wants to be me.
- 9:51I think it's got to be she wants to be me.
- 9:53That's a brutal choice, but do you know what?
- 9:56I think if you'd have asked me this a couple of weeks ago, I
- 9:59might have said broccoli. Oh, I've you're in your busted
- 10:02ear at the. Moment binge busted for two
- 10:04weeks. I literally pulled up at the
- 10:06traffic lights today. Somebody known as me somebody.
- 10:11I keep people looking at me like I've faded away here.
- 10:15So funny. Are you OK?
- 10:18I'm really interested in, I'm really interested to know
- 10:21because of you're in your busted era at the moment, OK, what your
- 10:24answers will be on all of these because they are literally
- 10:27banned versus banned. Oh.
- 10:29My God this is going to be so difficult.
- 10:31So if she wants to ask me all the same ones again in like 3-4
- 10:34weeks time and see where we're at, go for it, go for it.
- 10:38OK mine there would also be She wants to be me.
- 10:41I love Broccoli Good but I think She wants to Be Me as one of my
- 10:45favourite Busted songs. Broccoli is not one of my
- 10:48favourite McFly ones. Yeah, I love, I love broccoli,
- 10:51but it's not like a like a God tier.
- 10:53It's a top tier, but it's not a God tier for me.
- 10:55But if she wants to be me, it's probably God tier busted.
- 10:58Definitely. Yeah, OK, cool.
- 11:01So next one is a would you rather?
- 11:03Would you rather a book on Matt's life like his life up to
- 11:08now, or a book on Dougie's life? Matt, would you?
- 11:14I'm so busted. I'm such a busted girl right
- 11:16now. Only because Matt's done a lot
- 11:19of theatre and I feel like I would really enjoy reading about
- 11:22his theatre life. And I know Dougie doesn't do
- 11:24that sort of side of things like Matt does.
- 11:28Interestingly, I think they would both have a lot of similar
- 11:31stuff when it comes to like, their time with alcoholism and
- 11:34drugs and like, their rehab sort of side of things and like,
- 11:36getting through the other side and like, ban stuff.
- 11:39Yeah, Yeah. But I feel like Matt just has a
- 11:41bit more to him, a bit more going on than Dougie, do you
- 11:45know what I mean? I think Dougies would have a lot
- 11:46about like wildlife and lizards and like saving the planet and
- 11:52turtles, and it would have a lot for those reasons.
- 11:56Lizards. For those reasons, I would I
- 12:00would choose Dougie. Yeah, OK.
- 12:02Love lizards? Love a good lizard.
- 12:05Love a little lizard. I love that.
- 12:07OK, cool. Fair play.
- 12:10I think I would choose Dougie, yeah.
- 12:11I feel like I want to know everything there is to know
- 12:14about Matt Willis playing Fiero with Rachel Tucker, and I feel
- 12:18like I'd probably get that in his book.
- 12:21Yeah, you've just stumped me because.
- 12:23I Annie was in waitress. Annie was in waitress and he's
- 12:26been in cabaret, I mean. She's in my and she's.
- 12:30In She's changed her mind. That was a weak choice.
- 12:33That was a weak choice. It was.
- 12:35It was OK. Yeah.
- 12:37So next one is easy question for for me.
- 12:42OK, Tom or James. Oh, stop it, Shannon Johns, you
- 12:50cannot ask me that question. That's not OK.
- 12:54I don't think I can answer. I can't.
- 12:55I can't. How am I supposed to answer
- 12:57that? What's wrong with you?
- 13:00What do you want to make me cry on live on TikTok?
- 13:04Yeah. Live on TikTok and in front of
- 13:067000 plus people on Spotify. I'm not afraid.
- 13:10I'm sorry. Oh, I can't speak Kill.
- 13:13If James, he's I'll. He's not Well, I can't choose.
- 13:16James don't pour the don't pour the poorly card.
- 13:20I love him. I wish him the best in
- 13:22everything he does. I've said multiple times I'm
- 13:26like rooting for his recovery, but Tom Fletcher is Tom
- 13:29Fletcher. Yeah, I think.
- 13:33I'm so sorry, James. I could cry.
- 13:37Come to the dark side. It's got to be Tom.
- 13:40I think for me, Tom Fletcher isn't just Tom Fletcher from
- 13:44McFly. Tom Fletcher he's so much more
- 13:47than that. Whereas James is James from
- 13:48busted, he's busted to James and they're I love James Bond.
- 13:53Like honestly I'm like top 1% top nought .1% James Bond fans.
- 13:59I tell you that right now. However, you can't like, make
- 14:03Tom Fletcher, making me choose between Tom Fletcher and Oh no,
- 14:08I can't. I can't.
- 14:09It's just not OK. I'm really sorry.
- 14:11I'm really sorry. James, I love you so much.
- 14:13But it has to be Tom. There's just so much more to
- 14:15Tom. I'd love to like if I had to, if
- 14:17it was like meet Tom or meet James, I would definitely meet
- 14:20Tom. I'd love to talk Tom about like
- 14:22Paddington, about songwriting, about G, about their chickens,
- 14:26about Carrie, about their kids, about all the theatre stuff.
- 14:29Like there's just so much more to it.
- 14:32And he loves Cornwall as well. He's always down here.
- 14:34I feel like fancy James has. Got a house in Cornwall.
- 14:37You can't. Yeah, I know.
- 14:38But James is like very he keeps to himself.
- 14:40Whereas like Tom and G, they always post when they're down
- 14:43here. Like I know I know roughly where
- 14:46James lives. I know like the area that he
- 14:48lives in, haven't stalked him or anything.
- 14:52I know from like reading online whereabouts he lives.
- 14:56But literally Tom posts videos of him and the kids on the beach
- 15:00that I live on. They don't have to make excuses.
- 15:03They come here all the time. I might actually meet them one
- 15:06day. It's hard, you know what I mean?
- 15:08But I feel like I would just get on a lot more with with Tom,
- 15:11like in terms of talking, I feel like there'd be a lot more to
- 15:13talk about. Saying that, though, I feel like
- 15:15James Bond would have more time for me.
- 15:18Like he'd probably be more interested in sitting and having
- 15:21a chat, whereas Tom would probably be like, oh, nice to
- 15:23meet you. Yeah.
- 15:23Let's have a good photo. Yeah.
- 15:24Yeah. So quick.
- 15:25Yeah. OK.
- 15:25Yeah. Cheers.
- 15:26See you later. It's Tom Fletcher.
- 15:28Do you know what I mean? He's Tom Fletcher.
- 15:30I think he's Tom. I have to go, Tom.
- 15:32Oh, sorry, James. My answer is Tom, Yeah.
- 15:34Obviously yours. My answer is Tom, because James
- 15:36is brilliant, but he's one. Yeah.
- 15:41My least favourite member of Busted, but that's only because
- 15:45he's up against Charlie and Matt, not because he's rubbish
- 15:48but like, you've got a hard competition and two Tom Fletcher
- 15:52is Tom Fletcher and like he is almighty God that we must bow
- 15:56down to. Yeah, yeah, I get it.
- 16:00I get it. OK, good question.
- 16:01Though OK next one question. Docu movie.
- 16:06Docu movie about McFly or a docu series about Busted?
- 16:12Like they're what I mean by that is like everything about the
- 16:17band, like from beginning how it was formed up until now for
- 16:21both. How long are the episodes on the
- 16:24series? Why this isn't a sub?
- 16:31It's a It's a very important. Question.
- 16:33OK, I would say the episodes are about 45 minutes and how many?
- 16:36It's on Netflix, so there's no. Right.
- 16:38How many episodes in the series? 10.
- 16:46Series. That was on the spot that.
- 16:48Was that's like 9 hours of stuff about busted.
- 16:53You didn't ask me how. Long the movie was.
- 16:54The movie is 9 hours long. A nine hour movie?
- 17:02Batmanfly. Sign me right up.
- 17:07I am here for it. OK, if it's a nine hour movie
- 17:09then it's McFly. If it's a normal length movie
- 17:11then it's series by Busted because I'm all in it for the
- 17:14time. Like I want something I can
- 17:16binge. Do you know what I mean?
- 17:17I love a binge. I also feel like there'd be a
- 17:20lot of like controversy and stuff with Busted and like their
- 17:24break up and they get back together and like they're
- 17:26touring and all this. I feel like there would be a lot
- 17:28more. It would be a little bit more
- 17:30interesting than McFly because I feel like McFly have just always
- 17:33got on. And so best, that's literally
- 17:36the reason I would 2 reasons why my answer is a docu series 1
- 17:41because I would love to know all about what happened in that
- 17:45middle. I would love to know if they all
- 17:48stayed in contact straight away. I know we know the insurance and
- 17:50outs of the bits and bobs of it. But I would love to know have
- 17:54like an in depth fly on the wall of Charlie putting his middle
- 17:58finger up to busted and join and fight star.
- 18:01I would love to know what was going on in their heads.
- 18:04I'd love to know if that's the reason why maybe Matt relapsed
- 18:08or something. Do you know?
- 18:09I mean, I'd love to know the little the little nooks and
- 18:12crannies in it. Also, my second reason is
- 18:15because if you tell me we're going to watch a movie, I'm
- 18:18like, sorry, I don't have time. If you tell me I'm going to
- 18:20watch one episode of a series, I'm going to binge the lot.
- 18:23The whole lot. 9 hours worth 9 hours worth of 1.
- 18:27Go. I've binged 20 episodes of
- 18:29Married at First Sight in like 2 weeks.
- 18:31You're a legend, and that's the reason why we're friends.
- 18:36Next one is Harry's side projects.
- 18:40All his little side projects or Charlie's?
- 18:45Oh, OK. When we talk Harry's side
- 18:47projects, what are we talking? Like high school?
- 18:49We're talking High School Musical, we're talking his book,
- 18:54we're talking Race Around the World.
- 18:57Is that what you did? Yeah, yeah.
- 19:00We're Charlie. We're talking about his other
- 19:01music. We're going to talk.
- 19:02We're we're talking his TV appearances.
- 19:06Let's just get my projects. Things that aren't busted.
- 19:08Things aren't my fly. I'm.
- 19:10Going to go, Harry. Exclusively for.
- 19:14I'm going to go Harry exclusively for him playing
- 19:16Coach Bolton in High School Musical.
- 19:18The Musical. No, it's not It's not.
- 19:21I loved Race around the world. We watch it every year.
- 19:24We really like it. It's just one of those like like
- 19:28series that we really enjoy and like, it's just it's just fun.
- 19:32It's just easy TV. I really, even though I I'm not
- 19:36a runner, I do actually quite enjoy like his little running
- 19:39things and like when he like his marathon updates and all of
- 19:42that. I actually really enjoyed that
- 19:43his training stuff. I love watching him on Magic FM.
- 19:47I love the little videos. I didn't even mention magic FMI
- 19:50love the little. Videos of him popping up on
- 19:52Instagram of his Magic FM conversations and stuff.
- 19:55Love that love like the he does quite a few podcasts and things
- 19:59and you know, he's been on on the mend.
- 20:01He's done a couple of podcasts here and there that I quite like
- 20:03to get. Like I love listening to those
- 20:06if I'm completely honest. Can't say I've ever really paid
- 20:09attention to Charlie Simpson side conquests.
- 20:13Well. Yeah, which I know is probably
- 20:16really sad for you because you're a big Charlie girl, but
- 20:19didn't listen to Fight * don't really do president.
- 20:22I do. I like haven't just haven't
- 20:24really listened to them. I mean, I probably would like a
- 20:26couple of the songs, but it's just not music that I go, Oh
- 20:29yeah, I'm really in that kind of mood.
- 20:30Like if I'm in like a bit more of a heavy mood, I listen to
- 20:33like Youngblood or I go to like old School, like My Chemical
- 20:37Romance or a bit of Fall Out Boy or like, you know, that's like
- 20:40my style. I don't ever think I'll listen
- 20:42to Fight Star. Do you know what I mean?
- 20:44I see that, Yeah. Yeah, My answer to that is
- 20:49Charlie all day long. Easy, obviously.
- 20:52I think of myself as a mini Harry Judd protege.
- 20:58However. However, I think almost most, if
- 21:06not all of Charlie's side projects have been music and I
- 21:11have loved genuinely every single one of them.
- 21:15Every single one. I loved Fight Star.
- 21:17I love President. I watched The Masked Singer just
- 21:21because he was on it. I don't like that show.
- 21:24Yeah, yeah. I did watch all of those if that
- 21:27counts as a side project. I definitely watched the videos
- 21:29of him. Was it rhino?
- 21:31Wasn't it? It was Rhino.
- 21:32Yeah, yeah. Like I just think he is
- 21:35phenomenal. And I do love Harry a lot and I
- 21:40enjoy all of his side projects. And I'm sure Harry Judd playing
- 21:44Coach Bolton is like my, the ultimate thing that could ever
- 21:50happen in my life, in my like fangirl life.
- 21:53High School Musical and McFly. Oh my.
- 21:57I. Think Harry playing Harry
- 21:59playing Troy would have done it for me, I mean.
- 22:02I wouldn't have been able to leave the theatre.
- 22:04I would have pissed myself. Would you have pissed yourself?
- 22:09It would, I would have. Calm down, let's not get too
- 22:13Charlie. Don't get too feral.
- 22:16Well, don't. You get too feral.
- 22:18It's not a kind of podcast. It's.
- 22:20Not that kind of podcast. I love everything about Charlie
- 22:23Simpson. I just think he's doing a turn.
- 22:25And actually, I think my answers for this all that just show that
- 22:27I'm such a middle of the road. Fan.
- 22:31Absolutely, I get it. My last one, maybe the hardest
- 22:36of them all. Oh God, I'm scared.
- 22:39For me, this one was actually like I wrote it and I was like,
- 22:42I can't answer that. You have to.
- 22:45If you're making me do it, you've got to answer it. 3:00 AM
- 22:49Or the heart never lies. Oh, what's wrong with you?
- 22:55You're disgusting. I'm not sure we can be friends.
- 22:57Anymore or the heart never lies you're.
- 22:59Swearing at me right now. Oh wow, do you know what?
- 23:04This is really hard. And you know what I said earlier
- 23:06about like ask me again in three weeks.
- 23:08I might have different answers because I have listened to three
- 23:12versions of 3:00 AM today. Oh no.
- 23:18And as much as I prefer the lyrics to The Heart Never Lies
- 23:24and the story behind it, 3:00 AM as in the 2.0 version of 3:00 AM
- 23:30is so musically insane. And then they did the 2.0
- 23:36version with James Arthur, which is just 10 out of 10 over and
- 23:41over again. I feel like in the in the zone
- 23:45I'm in right now, it's got to be 3:00 AM for me.
- 23:49Who are we? Am I am I am I?
- 23:52I've changed from team bust some team McFly to team busted in
- 23:56them so all our. Listeners on Spotify and people
- 23:59are currently watching us on TikTok.
- 24:01This is actually where the podcast ends forever.
- 24:05Thank you for listening. Taylor about to fall out.
- 24:10But Shannon, it's the like hearing that and him, he's like,
- 24:16he's like, sorry. Sorry, Danny Jones doing that.
- 24:22Yeah, but like, you hear that a lot with Danny in a lot of McFly
- 24:27songs. You get that from Danny.
- 24:30You don't hear Charlie scream in 3:00 AM in any other Busted
- 24:34songs than you do in that song. What you can't hear if you're
- 24:38listening to the podcast on Spotify is that I'm stropping
- 24:41right now. You can actually can't see it.
- 24:44She's like leaning into her hand, like stroking her face,
- 24:47like a, you know, like an old man with a beard.
- 24:48You're just like what is happening?
- 24:50What's happening like how I'm thinking like an old man with a
- 24:53beard. How do I get rid of this girl
- 24:57married into my family? Too late, sucker.
- 25:05No, no, no. Listen, listen, listen.
- 25:07I love Three AMI, am a big big big BIG3M fan and I cannot wait
- 25:12to get to that episode on the next album where we discuss it
- 25:16and we discuss all the versions of it and I think that it is
- 25:19probably one of the best songs from the band.
- 25:24It is ridiculous. However, the heart never lies.
- 25:31Yeah, it's a big song for you as well, isn't it?
- 25:33The Heart Never Lies is the first song ever learnt how to
- 25:35play on guitar. It is the first song I ever
- 25:39performed on guitar. Tattoo.
- 25:42It is my tattoo. My the first ever McFly like
- 25:46McFly McFly gig I went to was just after they brought out that
- 25:51song. Every time I hear it live I cry
- 25:55my eyes out. Another year is over, but we're
- 25:58still together. It's not always easy.
- 26:00But not fly for forever and you're choosing Busted.
- 26:03I'm so. I'm.
- 26:04Not choosing Busted, I'm choosing 3:00 AM.
- 26:06I'm choosing I'm not choosing busted over McFly, I'm choosing
- 26:103:00 AM. Like I said, the lyrics in The
- 26:12Heart Never Lies are so much better and I love the story the
- 26:17the lyrics are better but like like if I'm having to listen to
- 26:21one of those songs instead of the other, 3:00 AM just has
- 26:26something. It hits me on another level.
- 26:28I just can't. Yeah, but like the Heart Never
- 26:30Lies live version at the O2. Oh no, at the Royal Albert Hall.
- 26:35Sorry. 3:00 AM Featuring James Arthur.
- 26:39No, fuck you, genuinely. Sorry, hang on, isn't this
- 26:43podcast supposed to be inclusive for Busted and McFly fans?
- 26:46Not. You're not a McFly fan, you hate
- 26:49McFly, you chose Busted. You're never going to be my
- 26:51friend again. It's and I think I've just
- 26:55proved that when I said I've gone right down the middle with
- 26:57all of my this or that's. However you ever choose anything
- 27:00over the heart never lies and you are no friend of mine.
- 27:02You're. Dead to me.
- 27:07Get off my podcast you. Are dead, although I did say it
- 27:13was. It is a hard question for me
- 27:15because I genuinely 3:00 AM is one of those songs where it's
- 27:18like there is not many songs better than that.
- 27:21Yeah, I think. There is one, though, the heart
- 27:24never lies. Ballad of Pork.
- 27:27Is that like I said, I'm in my Busted era.
- 27:31I'm, I'm on like bingeing all the Busted songs.
- 27:34I have listened to all versions of 3:00 AM today because we had
- 27:36the Busted experience on the other week.
- 27:38And I remember Matt saying like we talked about 3:00 AM and he
- 27:43said like original version or new version and I could not
- 27:45decide. Or I think I might have said
- 27:47original version. And then I was like, I don't
- 27:49think he does the scream in the original version.
- 27:51So today I was like, I'm going to listen to all three versions.
- 27:54And I did. And he doesn't, he doesn't say
- 27:57James does the scream in 3:00 AM.
- 27:59He doesn't do the scream, but he does the oh, you know, where
- 28:03it's a bit more like emotional. James does them in the original,
- 28:08whereas Charlie does them in the 2.0 version, and Charlie brings
- 28:13so much more to that. And then he obviously does the
- 28:17is it to take me? Is that the line that he says to
- 28:20take me? And he's like screaming like
- 28:22proper. Screamer.
- 28:25Obviously that's not in the original version either and I've
- 28:27just noticed on our TikTok live, Ben has said.
- 28:30That I was just about. CC has a scream when they do she
- 28:34wants to be me live which I haven't noticed.
- 28:36Why have I not noticed this? Maybe I can't remember the last
- 28:39time I saw she She wants to be me live.
- 28:42It would have been pigs can fly to or maybe did they do it then
- 28:47they didn't do on night driver. I can't remember.
- 28:51I think I may have. I think I may have only seen she
- 28:54wants to be me live once and I can't remember the screen.
- 28:56But you know, Ben, you know exactly what I'm going to do
- 28:59when we finish recording tonight is I'm going to find that live.
- 29:01And I'm going to listen to. It well, watch, watch it.
- 29:04I'll repeat. OK, I'm sorry.
- 29:07I I don't hate me forever, but I will.
- 29:10I know, I know. It's time for Song of the Week.
- 29:17And this week we are talking Broccoli by McFly.
- 29:22Absolutely, which is objectively one of their more weird songs,
- 29:26but also I would say one of the most McFly songs that there is
- 29:29because it's chaotic, it's random and to be honest it
- 29:33doesn't make a lot of sense. But it does transport you back
- 29:37to being like 13 and inviting your friends over after school
- 29:40for tea. Do you remember like bringing
- 29:42your mum and being like mum concerns?
- 29:45They come over for tea like my mum would not.
- 29:48Ring him. I remember asking her when I'm
- 29:51like in the playground at school.
- 29:53I used to go to my friend's house because she used to live
- 29:55round the round the corner. I used to go to her house to
- 29:58borrow her house phone to ring my mum to ask if I could stay at
- 30:01her house for tea or if she could come to our house for tea.
- 30:04Did you ever do that thing where like you speak to their mum and
- 30:08then their mum has to ring your mum?
- 30:10Yes, Taylor. Is also blah blah blah can't
- 30:12come around for tea. Is that true?
- 30:14Oh no. But she she can.
- 30:17I used to love asking my mum in front of the person so she had
- 30:22to. She felt like she had to say.
- 30:25Yes, so me and my cousin Katie, which you know your your
- 30:29sister-in-law now. Do I?
- 30:30Do I know her? I'm.
- 30:32Sure, I know my sister-in-law. We used to say to our parents,
- 30:37look, we want to go to each other's house for dinner.
- 30:40Or like Kate would be like, can Shannon stay for dinner?
- 30:42Or I'd say, can Katie stay for dinner?
- 30:43And they would say no. And we would say, but we'd put
- 30:46on a dance routine for you. And they were like, no, OK, even
- 30:53more no. Even more no.
- 30:56I love that, absolutely. We'll dance to Justin Bieber one
- 30:59time and we will get all the lyrics wrong, but it's fine
- 31:05because we think he's fair. Yeah, and we'll wear our
- 31:07Lonsdale tracksuit buttons. Yeah, and a purple cap and and.
- 31:13The highest ponytail you've ever seen.
- 31:16Oh God, Honestly, we really was. Great times, wasn't it?
- 31:19Don't you think? Oh yeah, it's a great 100% the
- 31:22best. Absolutely.
- 31:24I mean, I when I think back to being that age, like I mean,
- 31:27when, when did you break up? 2004, right?
- 31:30Yeah. So literally was 11 when this
- 31:34song came out. I was 11.
- 31:36I don't think I, I don't think I really listened to McFly until I
- 31:39was about 1314, like properly. I remember them being around.
- 31:44I remember buying all the magazines, blah, blah, blah,
- 31:45blah. But I think that it was probably
- 31:47like I was probably 13 before I really started listening to this
- 31:51music. And I can remember loving this
- 31:54song. I just remember absolutely like
- 31:56it was the opening line for me, Absolutely up for it.
- 31:59I'm so up for it. Everything was this song reminds
- 32:01me. I mean she probably isn't
- 32:03listening but my friend from primary school, me and my friend
- 32:06Lauren, we would listen to this song all the time.
- 32:09It reminded me of her because it was just the oddest song.
- 32:14It's weird, it's weird. It's like I said, it's one of
- 32:17their weirdest song. It's very random and it doesn't
- 32:19really make much sense, right? None at all.
- 32:21It like brings you back to the era of like flirting when you
- 32:25don't actually know how to talk to someone so you just say
- 32:28nonsense and hope for the best. I mean, to be completely honest,
- 32:32that's pretty much how I flirt now.
- 32:35That's how I got into my relationship.
- 32:38How am you? Down the line and it's not
- 32:40failed for me yet. How am I married?
- 32:43Married with a child? Happily married Most of the time
- 32:45I don't know. Isn't he right next to you?
- 32:48I can't. Yeah, he's here.
- 32:49He's listening. He's like he'll agree.
- 32:52I can't imagine I I don't know what flirting is to be honest
- 32:54anymore. I think flirting is like poking
- 32:58my toes in his ears. I don't know.
- 33:00Would you like a bite of my mouth?
- 33:02Wow. I just make stupid.
- 33:07Do you know what's really funny? Because like I'm probably pretty
- 33:09chill in the evenings. Like I don't, we don't really
- 33:11speak a lot in the evenings. We sort of just sit on on the
- 33:13sofa and watch like telly and chill out.
- 33:16But when we get into bed, I'm like the most active talker.
- 33:20That's that's the other way around for me.
- 33:21I'm there with my book and Bradley went shut up and I'm
- 33:23looking. At me.
- 33:25Can you just please look? With this book, he's just like
- 33:29trying to go to sleep and he's just LED that like you can just
- 33:32see his face. He's just like, please stop
- 33:34talking. And I'm I like getting to bed
- 33:37and I start thinking about all of life's big choices.
- 33:40Like, I think yesterday it was like we were talking about
- 33:42buying a house or, like, going to buy some land in Spain or,
- 33:46you know, and I was like, you know what?
- 33:47What? What do you think the pro like
- 33:49the processes of, you know, moving to Spain?
- 33:51Do you think it's quite easy? Do you think we can?
- 33:52You know, I bring this up at, like, 10:00 at night when I get
- 33:54into bed and he's like, yeah, yeah, All right.
- 33:57Yeah. And I can just see it in his
- 33:58face. It's like, please be quiet.
- 34:01Bradley said to me the other day.
- 34:02He was like, you go to sleep so fast.
- 34:05I was like, no, I've been laying here waiting for you to shut up.
- 34:08I'm not going to sleep really fast.
- 34:10I'm just falling to sleep to the sound of your voice.
- 34:12Listening to you chat shit for the last 20 minutes.
- 34:17Yeah, usually it's about the football as well.
- 34:18And I'm like, can you just? I mean, I don't talk about the
- 34:22football, but I mean, I'm definitely talking about
- 34:24something that he's not bothered about at all.
- 34:28Anyway, so should we get on with the ratings and deep dive a
- 34:32little bit into the lyrics? Because the lyrics of this song
- 34:34are interesting. Should we put it that way?
- 34:36Yeah, let's do it. What's your ratings?
- 34:40I love this song. I think it's great.
- 34:42I think that lyrically it's just funny and it's like it's very
- 34:47nostalgic and it just, like I said, it transports me straight
- 34:49back to being like 13. So I feel like I can't give it
- 34:52LO rating because of the nostalgia value.
- 34:54Even though the lyrics are pretty terrible.
- 34:58I feel like there's there's one section where they literally
- 35:01just say she cares. I know she cares, she cares, she
- 35:05cares, she cares. And I'm like, Tom, could you not
- 35:08think of any other words? Also, does she care because
- 35:12does? She really care.
- 35:14I'm actually getting the yeah, I'm getting the notion that she
- 35:17probably doesn't care. Yeah, she's not coming for tea.
- 35:21She's let you down last minute because we all know broccoli
- 35:25don't take that long to cook it. Doesn't.
- 35:29So if the if the broccoli's done and then she says she's not
- 35:33coming round for tea, that's very, very last minute.
- 35:36That's like plating up and she's rang and said sorry, I'm not
- 35:40coming. Like any girl can do that to
- 35:42McFly. She ain't worth it.
- 35:44So. Can I just say I'd never do that
- 35:46to you, Tom? I wouldn't have.
- 35:48I would. I'd actually supply the
- 35:49broccoli. Bring a whole buddy, a whole
- 35:54florette, that one. Is called a Florette Florette.
- 35:57I'll bring a hot floret broccoli bouquet.
- 36:02Yeah, bouquet broccoli. Why not?
- 36:04I'm here for it, Mum, See here for it.
- 36:06I'm going to go. I'm going to go 8.
- 36:08I'm going to go strong eight. I think I love it.
- 36:11I think it's a good. I think it's a fun song.
- 36:13Every time I hear it. I don't ever skip it.
- 36:15It's one of those songs as soon as it starts, I'm like, he, he
- 36:17broccoli. I just think it's funny.
- 36:20And how many songs do you know called broccoli actually saying
- 36:23that? There's one other song that I
- 36:25saw called Broccoli, and it's by a rap artist, and the first
- 36:29lyrics are very, very different in terms of what the theme of
- 36:33the song is about. Because his broccoli is
- 36:36marijuana. He's singing about rolling a big
- 36:42fat dupe. Oh wow, not the same thing,
- 36:46Broccoli. About broccoli florets.
- 36:48So let's put it that way. Not a very, very different, Not
- 36:51a bouquet of broccoli. No.
- 36:53So yeah, I'm going to go. I'm going to go strong eight, I
- 36:55think, for the nostalgia, mainly the nostalgia value.
- 36:58Tom's cute little voice at the beginning, his little opening.
- 37:02Everything there's girls, which is I blend the.
- 37:06Broccoli. I love him.
- 37:07I just love him. Do you know I love him?
- 37:09Did you know? Do you love him?
- 37:11Tom Pletcher, you almost chose James over him earlier, so let's
- 37:13not go into that. I didn't I I think it I think it
- 37:16was just a bit of a petty card because like I know poor James,
- 37:19he's so poorly and I was just like, oh, James, I miss him so
- 37:22much. I really do Makes me so sad.
- 37:24But still. Anyway, what about you?
- 37:26What's your rating? Hit me up.
- 37:28So this is a hard one. Genuinely, I'm finding this one
- 37:32difficult. Oh OK.
- 37:35Like this is the first one where I've been like actually found it
- 37:39difficult because. OK.
- 37:43I think this is a very good song in terms of the way I feel about
- 37:50it, like in the memories I have with it, the way you know, it's
- 37:56just a good song. However, is it actually a good
- 38:00song? No, it's obviously not a good
- 38:04song. It's a great song.
- 38:07In my head, it's yeah. In my head, she cares.
- 38:11She can turn in my head. She cares.
- 38:14She cares. It's about broccoli.
- 38:17So. So it's about broccoli?
- 38:20I'm going to rate it a very generous, Oh, I don't know, I
- 38:25was going to say 8, but do you know what I think it is?
- 38:29It's brilliant for like it's one of my favourite songs on the
- 38:33album, but I didn't rate the album very high.
- 38:36OK, OK, it's really hard. I'm going to say a, but that's
- 38:42very generous and it's mainly for the first half you.
- 38:45Don't want to give it an 8? You don't.
- 38:47I don't want to give it an A. See it in your face?
- 38:49I've given it an A and I like it.
- 38:50So you can't give it an 8 because you're like no.
- 38:52No, no, I do like it. But then when you think about
- 38:55it, is it actually a good song? Is it blowing up the candles
- 39:02now? Isn't that?
- 39:03That's the way, Yeah. But I love that.
- 39:10I love that section. And you know what?
- 39:14Sorry, I was just going to say we've got Violet on TikTok live
- 39:18saying she loves how Danny says school rumours start to spread
- 39:24around the school. Yeah, yeah.
- 39:28I do like the way he says. They say that I'm a loser.
- 39:34I do like that bit. I like the song.
- 39:36I just think, if you think about it in terms of how critical I've
- 39:40been to the rest of the album. Yeah, you have, you have been
- 39:43quite. But I think in terms of like,
- 39:46it's not overplayed. So there's not that element of
- 39:49it because I've never really heard this played like on the
- 39:51radio. It's not like 5 colours, do you
- 39:53know what I mean? It's not overplayed, so it's not
- 39:56going to be like something you get bored of.
- 39:58It's one of those songs that yeah, it's it's crazy and it's a
- 40:01bit weird and it's like I said, it's the nostalgia value for me.
- 40:04It's like it's a line. That's when she said said to me
- 40:08she wasn't coming round for tea. That's the best bit.
- 40:10It's the. Best.
- 40:11I used to love the bit where it would be literally right at the
- 40:14beginning where he's like, oh, what do they say?
- 40:17She doesn't know that I'm a virgin in the kitchen.
- 40:21It's like, hold on, only in the kitchen.
- 40:25So good. I absolutely love it.
- 40:27I really do. I think it's great, but.
- 40:29I tell you what I do like about it is the storytelling.
- 40:32I think the storytelling aspect, like that's what I said about
- 40:34most of the songs on this album, the ones that I like the most of
- 40:38the ones apart from Not Alone, because that's just like in a
- 40:41leap of its own motion. Songs that I rate high on this
- 40:45album are because I really love the story it tells and I really
- 40:48love how it makes me feel. That's why I rate it high but
- 40:55but I don't want to deep it because if I deep it it'll be
- 40:57lower. You can't.
- 40:58Yeah, you can't deep it. It's broccoli.
- 41:01It's broccoli. Let us know what you think about
- 41:04this song in the podcast comments.
- 41:06If this is being posted on TikTok, Instagram, on the live,
- 41:10let us know what you think. I know we've got a couple of
- 41:11people commenting saying that they like it.
- 41:13They like Danny's voice in it. I absolutely love Danny's voice.
- 41:17I mean, we all love Danny's voice, but I think for me it's
- 41:19the opening for Tom. Like it's literally the
- 41:21beginning and I love the punchiness of it.
- 41:25It sounds sneaky, you know, like sounds really stupid, but posted
- 41:30like a tick. I posted a tick tock of us the
- 41:32other day and it was the clip of the Bossard experience that I
- 41:35thought I went to like the sounds to add like a background
- 41:37sound. And the first one that came up
- 41:39was like a recommended sound for your video.
- 41:42And it was just called funny. And I was like, OK, what's this?
- 41:46And I clicked on it and it's like, do, do, do, do, do, do,
- 41:49do, do, do the background. And I was like.
- 41:52That noise is going through my head all the time, but I just
- 41:56feel like that when I'm walking around the school.
- 41:57It works and I feel like that. I feel like that's what this is
- 42:01like. Don't get glue stick.
- 42:07The glue stick not a glow stick. I don't have glow.
- 42:09Sticks. You've got glue sticks at your
- 42:11school. Sorry, we don't have any.
- 42:14I just really like the opening. It feels really like like sneaky
- 42:18and like cute and like teeny and I love that.
- 42:20It does make me feel like I'm back at school again because
- 42:24we've all been there. We've all been, you know, had
- 42:26somebody coming round for tea that we were really nervous
- 42:28about, you know, for the first time.
- 42:30And I can literally remember yesterday that my foot like my
- 42:33proper high school boyfriend coming round for the first time
- 42:37for dinner and I was like absolutely shitting my pants
- 42:40thinking, oh, are you OK? Are you back?
- 42:42Oh, you back? I was absolutely shaking my
- 42:45pants because I was like, how is this going to go?
- 42:47Like, I don't really know what to expect.
- 42:49And it being really like, oh, I mean, I wasn't cooking dinner.
- 42:53So, you know, I wasn't making it broccoli.
- 42:54Broccoli. No, I was not.
- 42:56I was not cooking the broccoli. But it is.
- 42:59It's very, very catchy. It's definitely one of those
- 43:01songs that you know, sticks in your head.
- 43:04I think a it is a definitely a very good rating, but I think
- 43:08I've knocked it down for the I know she cares, she cares.
- 43:10She cares. She cares, she cares.
- 43:12Because she clearly doesn't care.
- 43:13She. Cares section because yeah.
- 43:15She doesn't like broccoli, Tom. News flash, Tom.
- 43:18She's a sweet corn girl. She doesn't give a shit, let's
- 43:23put it that way. I will say though, yeah, what's
- 43:27your live rating? It's 10.
- 43:33I'm sorry, there's no other answer.
- 43:35We cannot. There's no sorry, never.
- 43:38There is. There's no song that they play
- 43:40live that I don't like. I will.
- 43:43We've even talked about Thunderbirds.
- 43:46I'll go with Busted. I don't like that song.
- 43:48But live I am like I am living my best Thunderbirds life.
- 43:57I really am hate the song, love it live.
- 44:01It's 10 out of 10 for me. Also, can I just quickly say
- 44:04that so it's the people that are listening on Spotify.
- 44:07We're also on TikTok live at the same time and Violet TikTok
- 44:13filtered your comments, sweet corn girl, as if as if it's like
- 44:17a naughty a naughty saying. I had to.
- 44:22I just had to approve the common sweet corn girl.
- 44:24Wow OK that was interesting. I mean TikTok has its own mind
- 44:29because TikTok posts the weirdest of things, but sweet
- 44:32corn girl apparently is offensive.
- 44:34Sweet corn Girl is offensive and it filtered it out.
- 44:37It might be there was a little skull emoji next to it.
- 44:40Apparently so. There might be that.
- 44:42Maybe it was that. Yeah.
- 44:46Oh, hilarious. OK, let us know what you think
- 44:49about Broccoli. We'd love to hear your ratings.
- 44:51We want to know what you think about the album version.
- 44:53We want to know what you think about the live version.
- 44:55Is it a good song for you or is it bottom of the pile?
- 44:57Let us know. It's time for Naughty's lost
- 45:02movies. Oh yeah, and it's back with a
- 45:06bang this week because boy do we have an absolute 10 out of 10
- 45:10pristine choice for you guys this week.
- 45:13This movie, there's so many things I could say about this
- 45:17movie genuinely, but I feel like it genuinely shaped who I am as
- 45:21a person now. I've definitely changed over the
- 45:23last few years. I've had a baby, my life has
- 45:25changed completely. But as a teenager, this movie
- 45:28definitely shaped me. It drove me to be really
- 45:32interested in fashion, and although it doesn't look like it
- 45:36now in my charity shop shirt and my black jeans, I literally live
- 45:42in baggy trousers and jumpers most of the time.
- 45:45I actually was pretty stylish back in my teens and my early
- 45:4720s. I was very much into like my
- 45:50vintage girl vibe. But you know, I had like big
- 45:53thick bangs. I had like big earrings.
- 45:56I always had bandanas. And like, you know, all of my
- 45:59love for fashion came from this movie.
- 46:02What I think it might be, what is it?
- 46:04I love that for you. I literally went to where did I
- 46:07go? I went out the other day.
- 46:10Oh, I went to my friend's house for like coffee and cake and
- 46:13like a nice little, nice little day day and I was wearing this
- 46:17exact T-shirt, which is a, a twilight pyjama T-shirt.
- 46:21So I I. Stylish faux life.
- 46:26Yeah, I have my own style. Thank you.
- 46:30It's usually just absolute either.
- 46:33Pyjamas. Pyjamas.
- 46:36Yeah, pyjamas. Like.
- 46:39El Dorimo to my core. Or like nostalgic pyjamas.
- 46:46I'm here for it, I really AM. Yeah, so if you haven't guessed
- 46:49already, it's a very fashion fashion movie.
- 46:53We are talking about The Devil Wears Prada released in 2000 and
- 46:57the the 2006 one. Because I actually haven't seen
- 47:00the new 1 yet. Ah, so it's only been out for
- 47:02four days, so don't worry. Don't worry, I'm not there.
- 47:05For four days, you've got plenty of time.
- 47:08This was like, this actually is one of those movies where you
- 47:13think of, like, your top five movies from when you were a kid
- 47:17or when you were, like, teenagers growing up.
- 47:20Yeah. This is in that.
- 47:23Always has been, always will be. I'll never forget it.
- 47:25It's in that list. I had it on video.
- 47:28I remember having having it on video I used to have.
- 47:32I think I've probably mentioned this before in my bedroom which
- 47:34is now really weirdly my daughters bedroom because I
- 47:36actually live in the house I grew up in.
- 47:37Strange story. I had all the way around the top
- 47:40of my room. I made my my stepdad build me a
- 47:42shelf that I could put all my videos on and I literally had it
- 47:45all the way around the top of my of my room.
- 47:48And I remember having Devil Wears Prada on video up there
- 47:51and I had like a little silver plunky TV.
- 47:54They like went dunk when you turned it on like a little.
- 47:57Videotape that went inside. The video bit, yeah, loved it,
- 48:00absolutely loved it. And I had The Devil Wears Prada
- 48:03on video and my, my Lord, it definitely got its use because
- 48:06it was very worn out. I had to like, you know, and you
- 48:09had to like physically rewind them if they got stuck.
- 48:13That happened so many times because I literally watched it
- 48:15all the time. It was one of my favourites.
- 48:17I love that. It's got such like, a 10 out of
- 48:1910 cast as well. Like, oh God yeah.
- 48:21Stanley Tucci. If those of you that don't know
- 48:25who Stanley Tucci is, I think you need to go and actually
- 48:28watch some films because he's been in so many things.
- 48:32But Stanley Tucci for me is Hunger Games through and.
- 48:34Through Hunger Games. Hunger Games of character is so
- 48:38good. He's like one-of-a-kind, but
- 48:40he's been in so many. He's been in quite a lot of like
- 48:42serious films as well. Like we've watched quite a few
- 48:45where he's been in quite a few and he was in The Lovely Bones.
- 48:50Did you? Do you remember the lovely?
- 48:51Bones. I'm pretty sure it's him.
- 48:54Let me just before I go all in on it being him, I'm sure.
- 48:59I love Stanley Tucci. I think he's so he like really
- 49:04leans into every character he is, I think.
- 49:06He's the Lovely Bones is really creepy movie about like the
- 49:11abduction and murder of a young girl, but it's very, very good.
- 49:17It's about her being stuck in the in between.
- 49:19It's a book. You should read it.
- 49:20It's an amazing book, and the movie did a really good job of
- 49:25copying the book. But Stanley Tucci plays a very
- 49:29strange, weird, horrible character in it, which is so
- 49:33funny because he's literally in The Hunger Games being like this
- 49:40flamboyant, powerful haired, very overly tanned guy.
- 49:45And then like in Devil Wears Prada, he's like, he plays
- 49:50somebody who works at the published publication.
- 49:54What's it called? What's the place called?
- 49:56The Oh my God, what's the actual publishing house?
- 50:00I can't remember what the publishing house is called, the
- 50:03fashion, the the magazine. I can't remember what it's
- 50:06called that she works for. But he's like, he works there as
- 50:09well. And he's like very, he's like a
- 50:10little gay sidekick. I love him.
- 50:12He's just great. And it's so he's such a
- 50:14versatile actor. And I just think that's amazing
- 50:17because like, like being an actor and being able to show how
- 50:20versatile you are from going to, from things like his, his work
- 50:25with Dev wears Prada, going to The Lovely Bones, going on to
- 50:28The Hunger Games, like he's playing such different
- 50:30characters. It's amazing.
- 50:32I love him. I love absolutely love him.
- 50:33I just, yeah, sorry. He's really just gushing over
- 50:36Stally Tucci. No, but I love literally every
- 50:39person's film. Emily Blunt, 10 out to 10.
- 50:41Meryl Streep, 10 out of 10. Anne Hathaway, Jesus Christ.
- 50:46I know, absolutely. So good.
- 50:49Tracy Toms is also in this movie which I love Tracy Toms from
- 50:54rent for those of you that have seen rent she plays Joanne rent
- 50:57Anne Hathaway We know for so many different movies The
- 51:00Princess Diaries being a big mansion which will probably come
- 51:03up in naughties movies at some point because.
- 51:05It will. What an absolute movie, Mel
- 51:09Streep. Come on.
- 51:12Come on, this is like God tier acting.
- 51:16Right now we're talking God tier acting.
- 51:17Meryl Streep, one-of-a-kind actress.
- 51:19If you haven't seen Meryl Streep in things like Death becomes her
- 51:23Mamma Mia Into the woods. Oh my God, she played the witch.
- 51:27She was absolutely incredible. She is insane.
- 51:30And in Devil Wears Prada, she is like, oh, Miranda Priestley.
- 51:34Miranda Priestley. She's so good character.
- 51:37She's fantastic, so if you haven't seen it, absolutely get
- 51:40along with it. Now.
- 51:41Emily Blunt we know from. I love Emily.
- 51:44Blunt, she was also in. She was also in Into the Woods.
- 51:47Didn't she do girl on the train as well?
- 51:49Was that Emily Blunt girl on the train?
- 51:51I'm not sure, I haven't seen that one, but she was in the
- 51:55Quiet Place as well. Yeah, she's just.
- 51:58She's just another one who is. Yeah, Emily Blunt, Girl on the
- 52:03Train. Yeah.
- 52:03That's a great Shannon. You haven't seen that.
- 52:05That's amazing. It's also a very good book.
- 52:08Sorry, I'm just here plugging my favourite books and movies.
- 52:12You need to read all of them. You can go home with a list
- 52:14that's. Fine, I'll get a little list.
- 52:16So the storyline of Devil Wears Prada is one of those storylines
- 52:20that like you just can't forget. It's like one-of-a-kind movie.
- 52:23You don't see it replicated very often.
- 52:25It's very, very cool. It follows Andy, who is played
- 52:29by Anne Hathaway. She's a college graduate.
- 52:31He lands a job as an assistant to a very powerful and demanding
- 52:35fashion magazine editor, Miranda Priestly, played by.
- 52:40Yes. And Andy doesn't really have any
- 52:42interest in fashion. She's really like they call, I
- 52:46think they call her frumpy in the movie, which to me is a very
- 52:49different thing. But she dresses very plain, very
- 52:52boring. She's not like doesn't do
- 52:54anything extravagant with her hair or a makeup or fashion or
- 52:57anything like that. She's very sort of like comfort
- 52:59first, which is pretty much where I'm at with life, to be
- 53:02completely honest. And she very much struggles to
- 53:04keep up with Miranda's expectations and the like, the
- 53:08cutthroateness of the industry of fashion.
- 53:10It's so crazy, but because she is immersed in it and she is
- 53:16like knee deep in this job and I think she gradually starts to
- 53:21transform her appearance and her priorities change.
- 53:25And the more successful she becomes, the more her personal
- 53:30life fades and like suckers, like suffers and she's got a
- 53:33partner and that starts to sort of fall apart.
- 53:35Her friends start sort of liking her and.
- 53:38I'm not a fan of her partner in it anyway.
- 53:40I think he's awful. I'm really glad that he wasn't
- 53:42in the new one. Yeah, he's a bit of a strange
- 53:44character, isn't he? He's a wet wipe.
- 53:47Yeah. Said what you.
- 53:50Said But yeah, she does sort of let it take over a life.
- 53:52So it really forces her to question how much she's willing
- 53:55to sacrifice for her job, which is like a massive, massive thing
- 53:58in the storyline. So yeah, it's a very good movie.
- 54:01For those of you that haven't seen it, definitely get out
- 54:04there, go and have a have a hunt for it in your local DVD store.
- 54:10And then it's not on streaming services, is it?
- 54:12I don't think. Yeah, it's on Amazon Prime, I
- 54:16think. I think you have to pay though.
- 54:19Let's have a look, devil where's Prada 2006 Disney Plus?
- 54:24If you're on Disney Plus, it also says you can find it on
- 54:28Channel 4, but again, it might be a subscription thing and it
- 54:33is on well, it says watch now Disney Plus and then next to it
- 54:37it says already watched. What a surprise.
- 54:43Yeah, definitely get along and watch it and the new Devil Wears
- 54:46Prowder 2 was released only five days ago.
- 54:49I have yet to see it, but I'm. Yeah, I haven't seen it.
- 54:52Also, there's the theatre production at the moment.
- 54:54I've heard about the theatre revival of it.
- 54:57How exciting. I would love to go and see that.
- 55:00I don't think I'm going to get to because it doesn't run for
- 55:02very long, does it? But.
- 55:04No. So many shows and so little time
- 55:07and so little money so. Little time, so little, so a
- 55:11little everything. Why can't they all just be like
- 55:13in Exeter? Literally just come a little bit
- 55:16closer. Yeah, just just.
- 55:17Just a bit. Just a few hours down South.
- 55:20Don't forget about us down here we are.
- 55:22We're still loving in the in the tow of the country.
- 55:26There she goes, There she goes. Hey, I haven't said it for a
- 55:29while. I've been thought I try not to
- 55:31say it too much. Oh dear.
- 55:35So yeah, Devil Wears Prada. What an absolute pristine choice
- 55:39for naughties movies this week. If you have any naughties movies
- 55:43recommendations, those of you that are old enough to have
- 55:45remembered movies from the naughties, please post them in
- 55:48our comments. We are very, very excited to be
- 55:51talking about this once every couple of weeks.
- 55:52Can I also just add this weekend bank holiday?
- 55:55Bank Holiday Monday I went to our local park where they were
- 55:59showing on the big screen The Goonies.
- 56:02Oh yeah, that is such a Jack movie.
- 56:05Yeah, we took, I would took my husband down and my daughter and
- 56:09Jack was absolutely loving it. He was doing little videos of it
- 56:12and sending it to his sister because obviously they used to
- 56:15watch it a lot when they were younger doing all the all the
- 56:18little lines and stuff. So yeah, amazing.
- 56:21Any naughties movies? Send them our way.
- 56:26It's time for Quote CORNER. So this week we've got one quote
- 56:30from each member of McFly, and honestly, these sum them up
- 56:35perfectly. They do indeed.
- 56:37I'm going to start off with my main man, Mr Tommy F Tommy F
- 56:44Tommy F TomTom Fletcher. I'm basically a big kid.
- 56:49I don't think I'll ever grow up. True, accurate.
- 56:52Love this for him. Love this for him.
- 56:54And you know what, Tom? That's why we love you.
- 56:57Absolutely no notes at all. I'm here for it.
- 57:00There's only one man that can literally tour the country with
- 57:04a giant dinosaur made out of crampets.
- 57:09And not be and not be questioned about it and like just pretty
- 57:12much walk around London eating marmalade sandwiches all the
- 57:15time. Yes, it's all good there's.
- 57:16Only one man that can make me sing on a daily basis.
- 57:19Ma ma ma ma ma ma marmalade all day, every day.
- 57:26I love it, absolutely. Love it.
- 57:27So there. There we go.
- 57:28Thank you, Tom. There we go, my next one.
- 57:31My one is Danny Jones. Of course, his quote is I just
- 57:37like making people smile, and if I can do that, I'm happy.
- 57:41Well, there we go. Danny, you do that.
- 57:44You do that a lot, definitely. I mean.
- 57:48I think sometimes he says things.
- 57:50He says things that like, maybe he doesn't mean or maybe he
- 57:54doesn't like, not not like in a nasty way, but in like the
- 57:58nicest way. Do you know what I mean?
- 57:59Oh. Just to make people happy.
- 58:01Oh God. Yeah, that's what I mean.
- 58:03Like, I think there's a lot of times where he's like, he just
- 58:06says things because he wants everyone around him to be really
- 58:09cheery and. Happy.
- 58:11I love that. I also think that like
- 58:13personality in general, it's just nice.
- 58:16Like it's just, it does make people smile.
- 58:18We make people laugh without how can you be trying with somebody
- 58:21that's going to call you? Mush, do you know?
- 58:23Absolutely I'm here for it. I can't.
- 58:25Believe you, he's got that little cheeky.
- 58:27Smile, isn't he? And he?
- 58:28Like he's just. Yeah, he will never do no wrong
- 58:31in our books. Danny, we love you.
- 58:33OK, let's go. He did one thing wrong, but
- 58:36we're not going to get. Into Oh yeah, no, we're not
- 58:38going to go into that. We don't talk about.
- 58:40M.h on this podcast. He made a mistake.
- 58:45OK, Leave him alone. It's OK.
- 58:48It's OK. Yeah.
- 58:50Anyway, moving on from the I'm A Celebrity, I'm A Celebrity
- 58:53gossip. Oh, yeah.
- 58:56Here you go. We've got next.
- 58:59Dougie Pointer. I never really know what I'm
- 59:02doing. I just sort of go with it.
- 59:05Oh wow, and there I am. Relating to Dougie pointer, once
- 59:08again, that isn't Dougie all over.
- 59:11What is it? I'm sorry, Doug.
- 59:13We love you. We know that you're just winging
- 59:14life. It's OK.
- 59:16We're here for it. We do it as well.
- 59:18That's how we got here. Absolutely.
- 59:21He he's one of those like. In a band, obviously, like
- 59:24there's always that that one isn't there.
- 59:26There's a bit more like flamboyant and a bit more like
- 59:28at the happy to just go running around the stage and like, I
- 59:31think we've busted. It's James.
- 59:32Like James is very like, oh, do you I think we've busted.
- 59:36It's more Matt. Do you think?
- 59:38Do you not think like? When you watch the videos of
- 59:41Like Them on stage, James is the one just legging it round the
- 59:44stage and like out into the audience and stuff really.
- 59:48OK. I, I think, I mean, I probably
- 59:51look at it different to you, but when we were speaking to the
- 59:54busted experience a couple of weeks ago, I remember Jay saying
- 59:57that that's why he feels because somebody, one of the listener
- 1:00:00questions was who do you most channel on stage?
- 1:00:03And he said James because he's the one that just sort of gets
- 1:00:06up and starts running around and like, I feel like James really
- 1:00:09feels like. Yeah, and there's a video of
- 1:00:11them doing the. Sunset sessions in London and
- 1:00:13James that just jumps off the stage and starts running around
- 1:00:16the audience with his guitar and I just love that.
- 1:00:18I think that's so cute. I feel like James really like he
- 1:00:20really gets into the moment. He really?
- 1:00:21Feels it and he like goes with the photo, but the amount of
- 1:00:23times Matt has just like I normally stand in front of Matt
- 1:00:28when we saw him from the most recent time and he's just like
- 1:00:31here, there and everywhere. He's interacting with the crowd.
- 1:00:34He's got his like rock fingers up.
- 1:00:36He's like, I think, and we've just had a very interesting
- 1:00:39comment. On TikTok live, which was from
- 1:00:41Ben and he said James is unhinged.
- 1:00:43Matt is pre organised chaos. I love that.
- 1:00:46I think that very much comes up. I feel like James doesn't think
- 1:00:49he just does what he wants to do.
- 1:00:51I feel like Matt's always got in his head like where he needs to
- 1:00:53be and like what's what's going to come up next?
- 1:00:55And like, even though he, he's a bit more out there, I think he's
- 1:00:58definitely got a bit more of like that vibe.
- 1:01:00And I think that's Dougie. I think Dougie is like the, he's
- 1:01:04the chaotic, unhinged, do what you want.
- 1:01:06I've literally got a video of him during the I'd like to boner
- 1:01:11because she puts me in the mood line.
- 1:01:13And he's literally one hand on his bass guitar, like on the the
- 1:01:17neck of the guitar, the other hand behind his head, and he's
- 1:01:20just doing this. And it's the best video ever.
- 1:01:26It's so good. That's so good.
- 1:01:28Like. And I just think, you know, he
- 1:01:29just. Runs over to where we were and
- 1:01:31just started, like humping his guitar.
- 1:01:34So go for it, Dougie. Why not?
- 1:01:35We're here for it. So yeah, you know, yeah,
- 1:01:37Honestly, same, same. I don't know what I'm doing
- 1:01:40either. Just going with the flow.
- 1:01:41It's all good. Bringing life and that literally
- 1:01:44that. Brings me on to Harry's, which
- 1:01:46is we've always just wanted to have fun and not take ourselves
- 1:01:49too seriously. Indeed.
- 1:01:52Which is lovely, yeah. And some McFly up really very,
- 1:01:55very well, don't you think? I think they're that's, oh, 100%
- 1:01:59I don't. Think they need to take
- 1:02:01themselves too seriously. I think it's all about having
- 1:02:03fun and having people be fun, like having fun with them.
- 1:02:06And I think there was a quote we did from Tom a while ago where
- 1:02:09he was like talking about one of his favourite moments and his
- 1:02:11favourite moment for him as being on stage and seeing
- 1:02:14everybody have a good time. And that's so nice.
- 1:02:17That's such a nice way to put it because when you think about
- 1:02:19bands like McFly, they're not the most popular, you know, like
- 1:02:24then they're not hitting number ones all the time.
- 1:02:27Like you know that they've got how many studio albums now, 8 Is
- 1:02:31there eight in total? There's quite a few.
- 1:02:34Can't remember what I had. I think there's 7 or 8.
- 1:02:38And you know, it's not like you're always got them in in the
- 1:02:42charts and always top top dogs. They're not fighting for #1
- 1:02:45spots like anymore. Maybe they were back in the day,
- 1:02:47but like, I don't think that if they need that, I don't think
- 1:02:51they care much about that. They do what they do because
- 1:02:54they love it and they want us to love it.
- 1:02:55And they're doing it because they can.
- 1:02:57And look at them, they're all living their lives the way they
- 1:03:00want to live. They can do what they want to
- 1:03:01do. They've got enough, you know, to
- 1:03:03support their families and, and to be able to live lives that
- 1:03:07are, you know, fruitful. And they're not like living
- 1:03:10lives of billionaire luxury, are they?
- 1:03:12But they're living better than we are with his chickens.
- 1:03:17And his. Dennis and his baby ducks,
- 1:03:21Daddy's motorbikes. But you know, I feel like that's
- 1:03:24what they're after. They're not, they're not doing
- 1:03:25it for money. They're doing it because they
- 1:03:26love it. That's what Tom and Paddington.
- 1:03:29How long did it take Tom to write Paddington?
- 1:03:30Didn't you say like five years or something?
- 1:03:32Like, he took so long doing that and like me, and you know what
- 1:03:36it's like to write musical because we've done it.
- 1:03:38We're doing it. We're not doing it anymore.
- 1:03:40But we were doing it for a long time, and it took so long and we
- 1:03:43didn't even finish it. Yeah, I mean, and that was just
- 1:03:47the writing stage. Like, this has taken so long.
- 1:03:49His little babies just got bigger and bigger and bigger.
- 1:03:52And now it's a massive thing. And it's all because he loved
- 1:03:55doing it. And he put that time into it
- 1:03:57because it was something that he loved and cared about.
- 1:03:59So I love them. I think.
- 1:04:01I think that really does sum them up, what Harry said.
- 1:04:03They just don't want to take themselves too seriously.
- 1:04:05They just want to have fun. And that's what I want to see.
- 1:04:07Harry running the London Marathon.
- 1:04:09Next year, dressed as a piece of broccoli, I'm here for it.
- 1:04:14Sure, we get petition going. Petition.
- 1:04:19Look out, Harry. Judge.
- 1:04:20Because it's coming your way. I'm sure you don't.
- 1:04:23I will, Harry, so you can even. Just do it and then get knocked
- 1:04:26over. By a piece of broccoli.
- 1:04:28Or you can own a piece of broccoli.
- 1:04:30Make you sure. You've got him on.
- 1:04:31Your app you're running you're. Like, he's coming.
- 1:04:34You'll have to run really fast because he did that in like
- 1:04:36three, 3 1/2 hours. No, 3 hours, 10 minutes.
- 1:04:38Will I? So I'm time for it.
- 1:04:41I'll beat him. Harry Judd versus.
- 1:04:45A piece of broccoli from Devon. But the finish line I Oh my
- 1:04:49goodness, I'm making. It happen, I'm here for it.
- 1:04:54And just like that, we've reached the end of yet another
- 1:04:56episode. Thank you so much for hanging
