- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, discos, need a little more Disgraceland in your life,
- 0:05Speaker 1: just to touch to get you through. Yeah, me too.
- 0:08Speaker 1: This is the podcast that comes after the podcast.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome to Disgraceland, the after Party.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Welcome to the Disgraceland bonus episode, a little thing we
- 0:31Speaker 1: like to call the after party. This is the show
- 0:33Speaker 1: after the show, the party after the party, the bridge
- 0:36Speaker 1: to get from one full episode of Disgraceland to the other.
- 0:39Speaker 1: The backyard, to dig into the dirt, our mission to
- 0:42Speaker 1: uncover the truth, to confront the myth, to reclaim the story.
- 0:45Speaker 1: On this bonus episode, we're discussing some wild Grammy snubs,
- 0:49Speaker 1: what's up in Metallica, and talking Run Run Run Runaways.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Hello Joan Jet Leader Forward. In our exclusive section for
- 0:55Speaker 1: All Access members, we dive into some of the more
- 0:58Speaker 1: scandalous happenings from a awards shows passed, and we get
- 1:02Speaker 1: into your emails, comments, dms, and as always, a whole
- 1:05Speaker 1: lot of rosie. This is the podcast for the musically obsessed,
- 1:08Speaker 1: the outsiders, the independent thinkers who know that the best
- 1:11Speaker 1: history is a history that gets buried. Disgrace Land is
- 1:14Speaker 1: where I tell the stories they didn't want told, the
- 1:17Speaker 1: kind you'll end up telling someone else all right, disc goes,
- 1:19Speaker 1: Let's get into it. Jone Jet of the Runaways was
- 1:37Speaker 1: nominated at the nineteen eighty nine Grammy Awards and the
- 1:41Speaker 1: category of Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group
- 1:46Speaker 1: with Vocal for her song I Hate Myself for Loving You.
- 1:51Speaker 1: She did not win that award. You two song Desire
- 1:54Speaker 1: from the album Rattle On Home Took It Home. Other
- 1:57Speaker 1: artists nominated, though, were in Excess, Little Feet and Midnight Oil.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I mentioned this because Jon Jet was part of the
- 2:05Speaker 1: group The Runaways, who we cover in this week's full
- 2:08Speaker 1: episode of Disgraceland, and because the Grammys are coming up now.
- 2:11Speaker 1: The Runaways were never nominated for a Grammy. They were
- 2:15Speaker 1: much too fringe. Lead a Ford, another Runaway, however, was
- 2:19Speaker 1: nominated one more time actually than joone Jet, for Best
- 2:23Speaker 1: Rock Performance Female and Best Single. She lost both times.
- 2:28Speaker 1: The Grammys are on my mind, like I said, because
- 2:29Speaker 1: they're coming up in a couple weeks, and I find
- 2:31Speaker 1: the Grammys most interesting when they mess up, like Jethro
- 2:36Speaker 1: Tull being chosen over Metallica. So I was kind of
- 2:41Speaker 1: surprised to see that not one, but two Runaways were
- 2:45Speaker 1: eventually nominated now. In this week's rebind episode of Disgraceland,
- 2:49Speaker 1: we feature NWA. In nineteen eighty eight, the Compton Group
- 2:54Speaker 1: of MCS released the incredible album Straight out of Compton.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Not surprisingly, given how subversive and controversial the group was
- 3:03Speaker 1: at the time, the Grammys did not touch Straight Out
- 3:06Speaker 1: of Compton or NWA. Despite how well the band in
- 3:11Speaker 1: that record sold, and despite how impactful that album was
- 3:16Speaker 1: at the time. Straight Out of Compton went platinum and
- 3:19Speaker 1: it hit the Top forty despite being an independent album.
- 3:23Speaker 1: And that's an incredible accomplishment. But that shouldn't matter. The
- 3:26Speaker 1: twelve thousand plus voting members, a group of music professionals
- 3:31Speaker 1: including performers, songwriters, producers, and engineers, are supposed to nominate
- 3:35Speaker 1: and award winners based solely on artistic and technical merit.
- 3:40Speaker 1: By what technical measurement? Is the right hand rhythm guitar
- 3:42Speaker 1: playing of Martin bar from Jethro tal better than James
- 3:45Speaker 1: Headfield's from Metallica? In what world? Is Jethro Tull's album
- 3:50Speaker 1: Crest of a Knave better than Metallica's and Justice for All.
- 3:53Speaker 1: It's been thirty nine years, guys, and I'm still not
- 3:55Speaker 1: going to let this one go. But back to NWA's
- 3:57Speaker 1: Straight out of Compton sales, you can't mess with the
- 4:02Speaker 1: album's artistic or technical merit. And making the snub even
- 4:06Speaker 1: more egregious is the fact that in nineteen eighty nine,
- 4:10Speaker 1: that was the year that they added the Best Rap
- 4:12Speaker 1: Performance category. Now the nominees for that DJJZ Jeff and
- 4:17Speaker 1: The Fresh Prince with Parents Just Don't Understand, Supersonic by
- 4:20Speaker 1: JJ Fad, Wild wild West by Tone Loke, going back
- 4:24Speaker 1: to Cali by LL cool J, Push It by Salt
- 4:27Speaker 1: and Peppa. Now, all of these songs or performances as
- 4:31Speaker 1: they term them, are Capital G great, especially JJ Fad,
- 4:37Speaker 1: Supersonic DJJZ Jeff and The Fresh Prince won and I
- 4:41Speaker 1: can accept that because Parents just Don't understand was everywhere
- 4:44Speaker 1: the year that it was released. Come on, the Grammys,
- 4:47Speaker 1: couldn't make Tone looks Wild wild West just you know,
- 4:50Speaker 1: go hang out somewhere else, and let's Straight out of
- 4:53Speaker 1: Compton be on the ballot. I don't understand that. I mean,
- 4:57Speaker 1: I guess I do. I guess I do. Would never
- 5:00Speaker 1: what happened now, But then nineteen eighty nine much different time.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Nineteen eighty nine was a weird year for the Grammys,
- 5:07Speaker 1: George Michael's Faith one Album of the Year, beating out
- 5:10Speaker 1: Tracy Chapman's self titled album, Bobby mcpherrin's Simple Pleasures Stings
- 5:15Speaker 1: Nothing Like the Sun, and Steve Winwood's Roll with It
- 5:18Speaker 1: pretty much lame city all around, aside from the Greek
- 5:22Speaker 1: god of tight fitting blue Jeans and his record Faith.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Leada Ford did present an award that year, though, along
- 5:28Speaker 1: with Alice Cooper, for another new category, Best Hard Rock Metal. Okay,
- 5:34Speaker 1: another new category in nineteen eighty nine, Best Hard Rock
- 5:37Speaker 1: and Metal, and Leada Ford and Alice Cooper gave that
- 5:40Speaker 1: award to, Like I said, jeth Hotel, not Metallica. Have
- 5:43Speaker 1: I mentioned yet how ridiculous it was that the Grammys
- 5:46Speaker 1: gave the award to jeth Hotel that year and not Metallica. Again,
- 5:50Speaker 1: I'm not over it. This, of course, wasn't the first
- 5:54Speaker 1: or the last time that the Grammys messed up during
- 5:57Speaker 1: their entire long, strain trippy run. Despite being arguably the
- 6:02Speaker 1: greatest American rock and roll band ever, the Grateful Dead
- 6:06Speaker 1: were never nominated for a Grammy, even when their single
- 6:09Speaker 1: Touch of Gray cracked the top ten on the Billboard
- 6:12Speaker 1: Hot one hundred. Bob Marley Global Superstar revolutionized music at
- 6:16Speaker 1: the time. No awards. Jimmy Hendrix arguably, actually no, there's
- 6:22Speaker 1: no argument, definitively the greatest guitar player to ever be
- 6:26Speaker 1: involved with popular music. No Grammys for Hendricks. All these artists,
- 6:30Speaker 1: including The Who and Diana Ross, they were all eventually
- 6:35Speaker 1: awarded something called the Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award after their
- 6:40Speaker 1: quote unquote active careers in pop music had slowed down,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and the Grammys did the same thing for NWA in
- 6:47Speaker 1: twenty twenty four that gave them the Lifetime Achievement Award.
- 6:51Speaker 1: The Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammys is kind of
- 6:54Speaker 1: like the oh shit, we fucked up and we're making
- 6:56Speaker 1: it right award. I kind of like it. It's better
- 7:00Speaker 1: than nothing. This year's Lifetime Achievement Award nominees at the
- 7:04Speaker 1: sixty eighth Annual Grammys are Carlos Santana, Sha Ka Khan,
- 7:10Speaker 1: chare Fala Couti, Paul Simon, and Whitney Houston. Carlos Santana
- 7:15Speaker 1: already has ten Grammys. In two thousand and he won
- 7:18Speaker 1: eight on the same night. Paul Simon has sixteen Grammys,
- 7:22Speaker 1: Shaka Khan has ten, Whitney Houston has six, Cher has won,
- 7:28Speaker 1: Falakuti has zero, So you can pretty much guarantee Falakuti
- 7:33Speaker 1: is gonna win this award in a couple of weeks. Again,
- 7:37Speaker 1: the Lifetime Achievement Award kind of like, hey, we messed up,
- 7:39Speaker 1: We're gonna We're gonna fix it. And again I like that.
- 7:43Speaker 1: What kind of award though, are they gonna give for
- 7:44Speaker 1: messing up that whole Milli Vanilli thing? You know that
- 7:47Speaker 1: time they gave the vocal duo the Best New Artist
- 7:50Speaker 1: Award in nineteen ninety, only for it later to be
- 7:54Speaker 1: revealed that Milli Vanilli didn't actually sing their own songs. Well,
- 7:58Speaker 1: that award was eventually stripped by the Grammy Recording Academy's
- 8:01Speaker 1: Board of trustees. So you know, bad Millie Vanilli, no
- 8:05Speaker 1: award for you unless you wait long enough. Unless Millie Vanilli,
- 8:12Speaker 1: you wait until twenty twenty six. Because that's right, ladies
- 8:15Speaker 1: and gentlemen, and a world where the most ridiculous and
- 8:18Speaker 1: or ironic outcome is almost always guaranteed. Fab more van
- 8:22Speaker 1: if I'm pronouncing that correctly, One of the air quote
- 8:26Speaker 1: singers from Milli Vanilli is nominated for a Grammy this
- 8:30Speaker 1: year for Best Audiobook Narration and Storytelling for his memoir
- 8:37Speaker 1: You Know It's True, The Real Story of Milli Vanilli,
- 8:40Speaker 1: And yes, before you ask, it's definitely his voice used
- 8:43Speaker 1: in the audiobook. So please God, let the Grammys give
- 8:47Speaker 1: the award to the Milli Vanilli guy. It is right
- 8:49Speaker 1: and just I don't know why, it just is now.
- 8:52Speaker 1: The Milli Vanilli story is one of the most shocking
- 8:55Speaker 1: things to have ever happened at the Grammys, and it's
- 8:57Speaker 1: kind of why I love Award shows, for the unexpected,
- 9:02Speaker 1: for the mess ups, for the screw ups. So on
- 9:05Speaker 1: that note, Zeth and I are going to be discussing
- 9:07Speaker 1: some of the wildest Award show events that have ever happened,
- 9:12Speaker 1: from dust ups with Soyboy and Dylan, to Jarvis Cocker
- 9:16Speaker 1: and Michael Jackson to Courtney and Axel and David Niven
- 9:19Speaker 1: and the Naked Dude. Go to Disgrace ampod dot com
- 9:22Speaker 1: to sign up for Disgrace an all access to unlock
- 9:25Speaker 1: this content and more. All Right, I really kind of
- 9:28Speaker 1: wish I did a Million Vanilli episode for Grammy Week.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Maybe next year instead, though this week we've got a
- 9:36Speaker 1: two part story on another Grammy nominee, Lady Gaga, And
- 9:40Speaker 1: if you're a fan of German sex clubs and the
- 9:43Speaker 1: Bavarian Illuminati not to mention dangerous hangs on the roof
- 9:46Speaker 1: of the Staten Island Hotel, you are not going to
- 9:49Speaker 1: want to miss this story. These Gaga episodes deal almost
- 9:53Speaker 1: entirely with the wild conspiracy theories surrounding the global superstar.
- 9:58Speaker 1: And when you're listening, be thinking about those theories and
- 10:01Speaker 1: whether or not you think that there's any truth to them,
- 10:05Speaker 1: any evidence, evidence that you think supports them, evidence that
- 10:08Speaker 1: you know. I kind of well, I put it all
- 10:11Speaker 1: out there. You'll hear lots of people believe this stuff,
- 10:14Speaker 1: and I'm not judging. I mean, I'm judging by the facts.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I'm not judging the people who believe what they believe. Anyways,
- 10:20Speaker 1: when you're listening, I want to know, do you find
- 10:23Speaker 1: any truth in these theories? And if so, why hit
- 10:25Speaker 1: me up at six one seven nine oh six six
- 10:27Speaker 1: six three eight to discuss. Leave a voicemail or send
- 10:31Speaker 1: me a text and you might hear your voice and
- 10:33Speaker 1: or your texted answer on next week's after Party. Before
- 10:37Speaker 1: Lady Gagado coming up in the rewind slot right after
- 10:39Speaker 1: this after party is like I mentioned those two NWA episodes,
- 10:43Speaker 1: be sure to give those a spin. You're gonna dig them.
- 10:45Speaker 1: And I'll be back right after this with you guys,
- 10:48Speaker 1: with your voicemails, texts, email, say more. All right, welcome back.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I appreciate you, guys. Six one seven, nine oh six
- 11:12Speaker 1: six six three eight, voicemail and text At disgrace lam
- 11:15Speaker 1: Pod on the socials, you guys want to get in
- 11:17Speaker 1: touch about anything. We're talking specifically this week about the Runaways.
- 11:20Speaker 1: They're the subject of our new full episode, and at
- 11:23Speaker 1: the end of that episode, I asked the question, which
- 11:26Speaker 1: female artists do you guys want to hear covered in Disgraceland,
- 11:29Speaker 1: And on that subject, we heard from the three oh seven.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Let's check it out.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Hey, Jake, this is Kara down in Austin, Texas, and
- 11:37Speaker 3: you asked about suggestions for female episodes. I'm gonna have
- 11:41Speaker 3: to stay as plasmatics. Everybody talks about their influence on
- 11:44Speaker 3: gwar and their stage show, but that sound was iconic,
- 11:48Speaker 3: is iconic and influence a generation of like metal, hardcore punk,
- 11:53Speaker 3: all of.
- 11:54Speaker 4: It, beautiful, windy, story, insane, absolutely insane. One other thing
- 11:59Speaker 4: I want to to put you on, if you haven't
- 12:02Speaker 4: already heard about it, Jerry Lane from Poison Ideas trilogy,
- 12:07Speaker 4: Blackhart Fades Blue. I've read a lot of rock bios.
- 12:10Speaker 4: I have read a lot of junkie bios. That is
- 12:14Speaker 4: the most depraved shit I've ever heard in my life.
- 12:17Speaker 3: So check it out if you're interested. But anyways, keep
- 12:21Speaker 3: up the good work. Appear from you later.
- 12:24Speaker 1: All right, Carara in the three ZHO seven bring in
- 12:26Speaker 1: that depraved energy from Austin. Cara, I don't know anything
- 12:30Speaker 1: about Jerry Lane and Poison Idea. I should so I'm
- 12:35Speaker 1: very interested and happy you pointed this out. Can't wait
- 12:38Speaker 1: to check out. What did you say was the black
- 12:40Speaker 1: Heart Blackhart Fades Blue? That's uh, it's a great title.
- 12:45Speaker 1: And on the Plasmatics, yes, you're not the first nor
- 12:49Speaker 1: the last bunch of people this week actually have brought
- 12:51Speaker 1: up Wendy, Wendy or Williams Plasmatics and or Wendy I'm
- 12:56Speaker 1: not sure which. Probably a Wendy episode going to the
- 12:58Speaker 1: top of the list. Karen, thank you. I'm not sure
- 13:01Speaker 1: if you'd find this interesting. Perhaps you will, judging by
- 13:05Speaker 1: your taste here. We've got a gets Miyaza Patta episode
- 13:10Speaker 1: in the works. I'm going to record that this afternoon.
- 13:13Speaker 1: That's coming in a couple of weeks. So you got
- 13:15Speaker 1: that to look forward to if you are a Miyaza
- 13:18Speaker 1: Patta fan, a fan of nineties hard rock, grunge or
- 13:22Speaker 1: whatever you want to call it, punk alternative, that'll be
- 13:25Speaker 1: coming soon. All right, let's check out this one from
- 13:28Speaker 1: the two to seven No.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Hey double Elvis's seven Oh todd head and called it
- 13:34Speaker 5: while always listen. And you've made by week with the
- 13:39Speaker 5: Johnny Thunders episode. Thank you so much. You've done Mark
- 13:44Speaker 5: Plan again. You've done Johnny Thunders. Maybe a Jeffrey Lee
- 13:48Speaker 5: Piers in the future my life would be complete. But
- 13:51Speaker 5: Johnny Thunders, you said it best. His influenced, Like people
- 13:56Speaker 5: imitate him and they don't even know that they are.
- 14:00Speaker 5: I just ironically heard an interview last week with Stephen
- 14:04Speaker 5: Pearcy of RATT. He was on Billy Corgan's podcast and
- 14:09Speaker 5: he was, you know, admitting that in the Hate, you know,
- 14:11Speaker 5: they were trying to look like pirates, Well they were
- 14:14Speaker 5: trying to look like Johnny Thunders. So cool, so influential.
- 14:19Speaker 5: I love the Dolls as well that some of that
- 14:21Speaker 5: Johnny Thunders solo stuff. And as you said, the sololone
- 14:25Speaker 5: album had so many top notch legends on there with him,
- 14:31Speaker 5: other tragic figures too, Bill Lyne Marriott. Just so many
- 14:37Speaker 5: people loved the episode. I've been playing a lot of
- 14:41Speaker 5: Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers ever since I listened to it.
- 14:45Speaker 5: Keep up the good work.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Thank you, Thanks for the call. Appreciate you. Yes, Johnny
- 14:50Speaker 1: was a huge, huge, huge influence still is to this day.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I feel like Guns n' Roses should have been sending
- 14:56Speaker 1: him royalty checks while he was alive. Love the idea
- 15:01Speaker 1: for a future Jeffery Lee Pierce gun Club episode. We
- 15:06Speaker 1: are digging deep into the punk rock influence here with
- 15:10Speaker 1: gun Club in the Plasmatics and the gits, which is
- 15:13Speaker 1: of course a good counter to the Lady Gagas and
- 15:17Speaker 1: NWA's of the world. Appreciate the suggestions, guys always six
- 15:21Speaker 1: point seven nine oh six sixty six three eight voicemail
- 15:25Speaker 1: and text Anthony text in from the seven to two
- 15:27Speaker 1: to four. Hey, Jake, it's Anthony. I'm gonna be a
- 15:29Speaker 1: bit behind on podcasts, but listening to last week's Thursday
- 15:32Speaker 1: episode and asking for more female subjects. I know I
- 15:35Speaker 1: once suggested Dolores or Reardon for the Cranberrys and you
- 15:39Speaker 1: said it was a little too soon. I'm not sure
- 15:42Speaker 1: if enough time has passed. I know her stories are
- 15:44Speaker 1: more personal, but she has that air rage incident and
- 15:47Speaker 1: of course zombie inspired by the Troubles in a bombing event.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Just thought I put the suggestion in again. Good health
- 15:54Speaker 1: to you and yours and later days, Jake seven two four.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah, enough time has passed. I think
- 15:59Speaker 1: I think we can get into the cranberries. I think
- 16:01Speaker 1: we can get in more specifically to Dolores o Weird
- 16:05Speaker 1: in her history. You know, I missed her at the
- 16:08Speaker 1: studio once the studio I was working on. I missed
- 16:10Speaker 1: her by about five minutes. I showed up and she
- 16:12Speaker 1: was gone, and everybody there was buzzing because she was
- 16:15Speaker 1: just there. And I thought, man, that would have been
- 16:18Speaker 1: cool to me, Dolores from the Cranberries. And then she
- 16:24Speaker 1: was gone. And it's sad, but you know what, I'm
- 16:26Speaker 1: gonna steal myself and I can dig into the research,
- 16:29Speaker 1: and personally I'm interested in the troubles in Irish history.
- 16:34Speaker 1: So this is this is in my wheelhouse. Thanks for
- 16:39Speaker 1: reminding me seven two four. I appreciate it. Two five oh,
- 16:42Speaker 1: writes in with another suggestion, Hey, Jake just listened to
- 16:44Speaker 1: the Runaways pod and heard the request for more female groups.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I'd love to hear a dive on the Slits, thank you.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Two five oh. I know very little about the Slits,
- 16:54Speaker 1: very little, so I'm down to learn and down to
- 16:57Speaker 1: bring you guys what I find two writes in, Simply
- 17:01Speaker 1: Emmy Lou Harris, and this is a great idea because
- 17:04Speaker 1: it opens up a new lane into Graham Parsons through
- 17:09Speaker 1: Emmy Lu's point of view, which I'm not familiar with. I've,
- 17:13Speaker 1: of course read some quotes, read some things she said
- 17:16Speaker 1: about Graham in my research of Graham, most of it positive.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Emmy Lou seems like a real class act. I wonder
- 17:24Speaker 1: what's out there for her history. I wonder if she's
- 17:26Speaker 1: written an autobiography anyway. Very intrigued. Emmy Lou could make
- 17:31Speaker 1: for a great subject. I gotta write these down, some
- 17:34Speaker 1: great subjects this week. Great recommendations, guys six point seven
- 17:39Speaker 1: nine oh six six' six three Eight appreciate it. All
- 17:44Speaker 1: jackie over On patreon writes in the, chat actually not
- 17:47Speaker 1: in the, chat she's commented on the post for our
- 17:51Speaker 1: ad free episode of The runaways. Story jackie writes, In,
- 17:55Speaker 1: hey having listen to this episode and still thinking about
- 17:58Speaker 1: your punk question, previously which was jumping in. Here this
- 18:03Speaker 1: is Not jackie, speaking this is. Me this is the
- 18:05Speaker 1: question from the question prompted from That Johnny thunder's, episode
- 18:09Speaker 1: was which first generation punk group was most. Influential jackie writes,
- 18:16Speaker 1: In i've been thinking about The, slits a great punk,
- 18:20Speaker 1: band And i'd love you to cover this, Story, Jake
- 18:23Speaker 1: but don't think that they have any crimes associated with
- 18:26Speaker 1: them other than misogyny within the punk. Scene. Jackie we
- 18:31Speaker 1: might be able to find something. There we might be
- 18:33Speaker 1: able to find some crime to associate with the, story
- 18:37Speaker 1: something that's. Related maybe it's, just you, know once, removed
- 18:41Speaker 1: we'll look into. It appreciate the comment and the, Suggestion,
- 18:45Speaker 1: jackie this is. Interesting we're not all that self referential
- 18:49Speaker 1: here At Double. Elvis but on that same, Thread Matt boden,
- 18:53Speaker 1: writes and of, course those of you who Know Matt
- 18:56Speaker 1: boden works here At Double, elvis he's producing this show right,
- 18:59Speaker 1: now this. Episode BUT i hadn't seen this comment until just, now,
- 19:02Speaker 1: Says hey just wanted to point out Another jeopardy Slash disgraceland.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Connection Jackie fox basis for The, runaways was a three
- 19:10Speaker 1: Time jeopardy champion a few years, back competing under her
- 19:14Speaker 1: real Name Jackie. Fuchs Mac go's hones, SAY i think
- 19:18Speaker 1: she was on some other game shows as. Well she
- 19:21Speaker 1: also designed a well regarded board game based around nineteen
- 19:24Speaker 1: seventies rock called Rock hard nineteen seventy. Seven great to
- 19:27Speaker 1: see that after everything she and the Other runaways went,
- 19:30Speaker 1: through she was able to come out the other, Side, matt.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Amazing somebody posted the comment On instagram about Rock hard
- 19:38Speaker 1: nineteen seventy seven the board, game AND i thought they
- 19:40Speaker 1: were fucking with. Me this is amazing. History love The jeopardy.

- 22:36Speaker 1: of my. UPBRINGING i can't wait to watch. IT a little.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Background i'm a carpenter by, trade but a lifelong punk
- 22:42Speaker 1: guitar player and lover of all. Music i'm from The,
- 22:44Speaker 1: bronx originally raised In North. Jersey my father had ties
- 22:48Speaker 1: to The genevies crime. Family not a made, man but
- 22:51Speaker 1: a highly ranking. Associate it's a wild part of my
- 22:54Speaker 1: upbringing AND i have a feeling it's part of why
- 22:56Speaker 1: so many of your stories feel oddly comforting to me
- 22:58Speaker 1: in the same way that the work Of David chase.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Does one THING i always find funny is that despite
- 23:04Speaker 1: all the TEASING i got for liking, punk, YEAH i
- 23:06Speaker 1: got called all sorts of. Names my tough guy gangster
- 23:09Speaker 1: dad would still drive down to trash In vaudeville On
- 23:12Speaker 1: Saint Mark's place and pick up CDs and band tees for.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Me the first thing he ever bought me was The

- 23:32Speaker 1: A cappo and The genevese family was involved in an
- 23:35Speaker 1: extortion case With Steven. Segaal it's public, information but still
- 23:39Speaker 1: one of those, wild almost absurd stories that feels right
- 23:42Speaker 1: in your. Wheelhouse maybe Some Hollywood land material. There johnny
- 23:46Speaker 1: goes on to suggest doing A Jerry Nolan Jerry nolan
- 23:50Speaker 1: from The New York dolls, episode which would be. Fantastic
- 23:52Speaker 1: that'll give, us that'll make The dolls a trilogy of
- 23:56Speaker 1: stories In disgrace AND i love this. Idea and he
- 23:58Speaker 1: also Mentions Warren, zevon AND i think there's something From
- 24:01Speaker 1: Warren zevon's, past his upbringing actually with his. FATHER i
- 24:04Speaker 1: THINK i think his old man was an associate Of Mickey,
- 24:09Speaker 1: cohen the gangster From Los angeles back in the nineteen,
- 24:12Speaker 1: forties so that could be very. Interesting, Anyways johnny signs
- 24:17Speaker 1: off rock and Rolla Johnny nuts. Ps i'm including a
- 24:21Speaker 1: link to a music video for my. BAND i think
- 24:24Speaker 1: he'll at least get a laugh out of. It not

- 24:28Speaker 1: Thing i'm the guy with a tvl Les paul. Knockoff

- 26:00Speaker 1: films as we're sort of deciding what we're going to,
- 26:03Speaker 1: cover are crime, based so it's you, know it's all
- 26:06Speaker 1: sort of in the world Of disgraceland and Hollywood, land
