- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus at the ten yard line. Second to day
- 0:08Speaker 1: free wide receivers now in motion as Bumpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones with summer setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line. He throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Pumpas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. It's
- 0:33Speaker 1: week twelve. Is that time of the week. This is
- 0:35Speaker 1: Hawk Talks PREVIOUW edition on Michael Bumps with NASA showby
- 0:38Speaker 1: the Seahawks travel to Washington, DC on Monday Night Football
- 0:42Speaker 1: to try to get things right before we get into it.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Here's NASA with the injury updates. Thanks bump Well, this
- 0:47Speaker 1: is gonna be a short injury report today. Not allowed
- 0:49Speaker 1: to report given the Seahawks are playing on Monday Night Football,
- 0:52Speaker 1: which means there was not an injury report on Wednesday
- 0:55Speaker 1: given Thanksgiving holiday and the players off tomorrow. So keep
- 0:58Speaker 1: an eye out for the injury report coming out to
- 1:00Speaker 1: But one thing we did hear from Pete Carroll's press
- 1:02Speaker 1: conference at DJ Reid. We'll practice today, so we'll see
- 1:04Speaker 1: about his status moving forward in the week. We know
- 1:07Speaker 1: that cornerback Trey Brown will be done for the year
- 1:10Speaker 1: as he had an injury to his patella, which is
- 1:12Speaker 1: a tough loss for the Seahawks ball club moving forward.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Than that, something to look forward to or exees me
- 1:17Speaker 1: keeping out for is Rashad Penny. He had a little
- 1:20Speaker 1: bit of a hamstring issue against the Cardinals. So those
- 1:22Speaker 1: are the guys who were going to look forward to
- 1:23Speaker 1: going into this week. We'll keep you updated as the
- 1:26Speaker 1: week goes on. But that is it for the injury report.
- 1:28Speaker 1: It's time to get onto the Seahawks Week twelve opponent,
- 1:31Speaker 1: the Washington Football Team. What's on tap? What's on tap?
- 1:39Speaker 1: Seahawks heading across the country for Monday night football against
- 1:42Speaker 1: the Washington Football Team. Bump and I can't wait till
- 1:45Speaker 1: we can stop saying that. First of all, I am
- 1:47Speaker 1: tired of writing it and I'm tired of saying it.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Please pick a name. We're the team out here in Washington.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Just pick something anyway, WFT the Washington football team. And
- 1:56Speaker 1: then when you look at when he typed WFT, you
- 1:58Speaker 1: think of a different three oller acronym. So it's just
- 2:00Speaker 1: it's messing me up, all right, it's messing me up Washington.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Go ahead and pick a name. Anyway. The football team
- 2:06Speaker 1: is four and six on the season, opening the year
- 2:08Speaker 1: with a loss to Los Angeles Chargers. They beat the Giants,
- 2:11Speaker 1: got smacked by the Bills, had to win over the Falcons,
- 2:14Speaker 1: then lost four in a row to the Saints, Chiefs, Packers,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and Broncos. But these football team, they're playing some good
- 2:21Speaker 1: football right now. Beat the Bucks twenty nine nineteen two
- 2:24Speaker 1: weeks ago, and then just came off a twenty seven
- 2:26Speaker 1: twenty one win over the Carolina Panthers. So, like we said,
- 2:30Speaker 1: this team is four and six and they're playing their
- 2:32Speaker 1: best football. I mean, anytime you beat a defending Super
- 2:34Speaker 1: Bowl champion, Tom Brady and those Buccaneers, you're playing good football.
- 2:37Speaker 1: You go down. You beat the Carolina Panthers. And now
- 2:40Speaker 1: was a big game, man, because Ron Rivera, who's a
- 2:42Speaker 1: coach of the Washington football team, was making his return
- 2:44Speaker 1: to Carolina the first time opposing his former team. Cam
- 2:48Speaker 1: Newton was also making a return to making his first
- 2:50Speaker 1: start for those Panthers. And the guy that we're going
- 2:53Speaker 1: to talk about a lot today, man is Taylor Heineke. Man,
- 2:56Speaker 1: Taylor Heineke is doing it. He got the better of
- 2:59Speaker 1: Cam Newton, throwing for two hundred and six yards three touchdowns,
- 3:02Speaker 1: finished the game of a QB rating of one forty
- 3:04Speaker 1: one point three, easily the best game of the season.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Terry McLaurin led all receivers with five receptions one hundred
- 3:11Speaker 1: three yards of Teddy Antonio Gibson best game on the
- 3:14Speaker 1: ground he's had this year, ninety five yards on nineteen
- 3:16Speaker 1: carries back and forth game, Cam Newton hooked up with
- 3:20Speaker 1: the Christian McCaffrey for twenty seven yard touchdown which tied
- 3:22Speaker 1: the game up at twenty one with ten forty four
- 3:25Speaker 1: remaining in the game. Behind and Ki led the Washington
- 3:27Speaker 1: football team on a go ahead twelve play fifty eight
- 3:30Speaker 1: yard field goal drive, including an incredible scrambled play on
- 3:33Speaker 1: fourth and two, got loose with it, found his tight
- 3:35Speaker 1: end John Bates on fourth and two, moved the chains
- 3:37Speaker 1: they kick a field goal. On the other side, Cam
- 3:39Speaker 1: Newton had two potential game winning drives. Those ended in
- 3:43Speaker 1: a turnover on downs. Newton was sacked with one eleven
- 3:45Speaker 1: to go on fourth down in the game, which sealed
- 3:47Speaker 1: the deal for a Washington excuse me for a Carolina.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Newton still had a pretty good day though. He went
- 3:52Speaker 1: twenty one of twenty seven hundred and eighty nine yards
- 3:55Speaker 1: two touchdowns, as well as ten carries forty six yards
- 3:58Speaker 1: and one touchdown. Now, bump head to head, Okay, the
- 4:01Speaker 1: Seahawks washed football team. They got similar records, right, They're
- 4:05Speaker 1: similar in statistics. Obviously, the Seahawks are struggling, so these
- 4:08Speaker 1: numbers have taken a hit, and they've kind of we've
- 4:10Speaker 1: made this comparison at some point or another, kind of
- 4:13Speaker 1: like your GPA man, you do batting that first semester,
- 4:16Speaker 1: the first couple of quarters, it's really hard to save
- 4:18Speaker 1: that number, and the Seahawks are near the bottom of
- 4:21Speaker 1: most categories. Bump, but how do these teams match up
- 4:23Speaker 1: head to head. It's not only hard to save it
- 4:27Speaker 1: for the semester, you're a cumulative three years later, you're
- 4:30Speaker 1: paying for mistakes you did your first semester as a freshman.
- 4:34Speaker 1: That's what it feels like these Hawks been doing right now.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Total offense, the Hawks are raining thirtieth Washington nineteen. Rushed
- 4:39Speaker 1: offensive Hawks are averaging ninety eight point four yards per
- 4:42Speaker 1: game that's twenty third to Washington Football Team one hundred
- 4:45Speaker 1: and twenty two. You mentioned Gibson coming off his best
- 4:47Speaker 1: game last week. Pass offense Hawks are ringing twenty eighth
- 4:50Speaker 1: African two hundred, Washington Football team twenty second with two
- 4:53Speaker 1: hundred and twenty four, and the points per game Hawks
- 4:55Speaker 1: right nineteen that's twenty fourth in the Washington Football twenty one,
- 5:00Speaker 1: averaging twenty one points per game. Defensively, Hawks have one
- 5:04Speaker 1: of the worst defenses in the league. According to these stats.
- 5:06Speaker 1: We know that they have made some strides over the
- 5:08Speaker 1: last few weeks, averaging four to one yards that's thirty first,
- 5:12Speaker 1: Washing Football giving up three hundred sixty eight yards that's
- 5:14Speaker 1: twenty fourth, giving up one hundred and twenty two on
- 5:17Speaker 1: the ground, Washing Football team ninety eight. Hawks are allowing
- 5:20Speaker 1: two hundred and seventy nine pass excuse me yards per
- 5:22Speaker 1: game through the air, that's thirtieth, and the Washington Football
- 5:24Speaker 1: team are twenty eight averaging two hundred and seventy. When
- 5:28Speaker 1: it comes to giving up points, this is the one
- 5:30Speaker 1: bright spot. When it comes to these stats for the Hawks,
- 5:32Speaker 1: they are allowing twenty points per game. That's seventy, as
- 5:36Speaker 1: Somber at seventh, and the Washington football team averaging given
- 5:39Speaker 1: up twenty six point seven points per game, that is
- 5:42Speaker 1: twenty eight. Now we look at these sack totals, the
- 5:45Speaker 1: Hawks have recorded thirty three sacks. Now, that's how many
- 5:48Speaker 1: times they've been sacked. Ben Sack, My bad Ben Sack
- 5:51Speaker 1: thirty three times. I was gonna say, man, they really
- 5:52Speaker 1: turned it around these last few weeks. Sacks have made.
- 5:55Speaker 1: They've had seventeen Washing football team twentieth interceptions, the Hawks four,
- 5:59Speaker 1: Washington Football team six. On paper, this should be a
- 6:03Speaker 1: close game on paper when you look at stats on paper,
- 6:05Speaker 1: when you look at the matchups, you got a back
- 6:07Speaker 1: of quarterback in Heineke who has been playing well. You
- 6:10Speaker 1: still have scary Terry McLaurin over there as one of
- 6:12Speaker 1: the best receivers in the game. Right now, I say
- 6:15Speaker 1: I give them at least top ten. The run game
- 6:17Speaker 1: has been getting going. It's I think it's all about
- 6:19Speaker 1: more who shows up that day. Because we've seen the
- 6:21Speaker 1: Washington football team struggle. You've seen the Seahawks struggle, and
- 6:24Speaker 1: you've seen both teams put together some decent performances. The
- 6:28Speaker 1: football team just beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Whenever you
- 6:31Speaker 1: got Tommy Boy under your belt like that, you're feeling
- 6:34Speaker 1: good about yourself. I don't even care about these stats.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I don't care about who's lining it up. I don't
- 6:38Speaker 1: care if this win is ugly. I don't care if
- 6:40Speaker 1: it's impressive. I just want to w because I'm tired
- 6:43Speaker 1: of losing, and I'm sure the Seahawks feel the same way.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Let's get to know the history between these two teams,
- 6:49Speaker 1: no your history. First of all, amen to that bomb,
- 6:53Speaker 1: because yes, we are tired of losing. The Seahawks have
- 6:55Speaker 1: lost five of their last six. This is uncharted territory
- 6:58Speaker 1: for everyone in this building. It's been a really long
- 7:01Speaker 1: time since the Seahawks have been in this situation. But
- 7:03Speaker 1: when we want to talk history, looking at the series
- 7:05Speaker 1: matchup between the football team and the Seattle Seahawks, Washington
- 7:09Speaker 1: leads the all time series twelve to nine. The Seahawks
- 7:11Speaker 1: are six and twelve during the regular season, but you
- 7:14Speaker 1: have a three zoo advantage in the postseason. So the
- 7:17Speaker 1: last time these two teams linked up was last year.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Seahawks beat Washington twenty to fifteen in Washington, clinching a
- 7:23Speaker 1: playoff berth. It was a game that was dominated by
- 7:27Speaker 1: the Seahawks. Still a third quarter. Washington went on a
- 7:29Speaker 1: bunch of drives late in that game kind of made
- 7:31Speaker 1: this score closer than it was early in the game.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Washingtons seven drives. It combined for only one hundred and
- 7:36Speaker 1: sixty four yards three points, But the defense came up big.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Last year finished by three straight consecutive great plays by
- 7:43Speaker 1: the defensive line. An LJ. Colly Or sack, a Carlos
- 7:48Speaker 1: dunlap sack, a Benson Mayoa near sack which forced a
- 7:51Speaker 1: holding call in fourth down was sealed the game. Russell Wilson,
- 7:55Speaker 1: he didn't have video game numbers, but he was a
- 7:56Speaker 1: fishing in eighteen and twenty seven hundred twenty one yards
- 7:59Speaker 1: one Teddy Jamal Adams had a great defensive game. He
- 8:02Speaker 1: had nine tackles, one TfL, one sack, Carlos hide out
- 8:05Speaker 1: of the fifty yard touchdown. And when I look back
- 8:08Speaker 1: at that Boxhart bump Man, the difference a year can
- 8:11Speaker 1: make because I put some emphasis on those names. Because LJ.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Collier getting a sack, Carlos Dunlap getting a sack, ben
- 8:17Speaker 1: some Mayo getting involved. You know things that really helped
- 8:20Speaker 1: the Seahawks at the second half of last seasons. That
- 8:22Speaker 1: defensive line came alive. They led the league in sacks.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I want to say, the last eight games of the season,
- 8:27Speaker 1: and we need to see more of that's a that's
- 8:29Speaker 1: a unit that needs to be woken up, at least
- 8:31Speaker 1: in terms of the stat sheet. And yeah, man, that
- 8:34Speaker 1: was the Seahawks clinching the playoff berth. That was Small
- 8:36Speaker 1: Adams and Carlos Dunlap learning like, Hey, this is what
- 8:38Speaker 1: it's like to be going to the playoffs. Everyone in
- 8:40Speaker 1: Seattle expected that because that's what Pete Carroll has done
- 8:43Speaker 1: since he's been here. It's just crazy that things are
- 8:46Speaker 1: a lot different this year. But it's about winning close
- 8:49Speaker 1: games and I'm hoping, man, I'm hoping. We just need
- 8:52Speaker 1: to win one. Just like you said, doesn't matter how
- 8:54Speaker 1: al gets done, doesn't how it gets made. We just
- 8:57Speaker 1: want that final results. So let's figure it out. But
- 9:00Speaker 1: it's that time of the show. We gotta take a
- 9:02Speaker 1: look around the West. What's the word and the Seahawks
- 9:09Speaker 1: where the NFC West champs again. What's the word? In
- 9:13Speaker 1: the West on Hawk talk. Arnoldson at top of the
- 9:18Speaker 1: division at nine and two runs behind them at seven
- 9:21Speaker 1: and three. San Frand in the third spot at five
- 9:24Speaker 1: and five in The Seahawks are three and seven at
- 9:27Speaker 1: the bottom of the NFC West. Last week, the forty
- 9:30Speaker 1: nine is sick on the Jag of mush. Like when
- 9:32Speaker 1: the Seahawks played the Jags, it was all forty nine ers.
- 9:34Speaker 1: On Sunday, forty nine has led twenty to three at
- 9:36Speaker 1: half and we're leaving thirty to three before the Jazz
- 9:38Speaker 1: gotta lay garbage time touchdown three minutes remaining in the
- 9:41Speaker 1: fourth quarter. Once again typical Jimmy g type performance. He
- 9:46Speaker 1: was a fish in sixteen to twenty two, one seventy six,
- 9:48Speaker 1: two touchdowns and most importantly no touchdowns. Brandon Iuk led
- 9:52Speaker 1: all receivers with seven receptions eighty five yards in the touchdown,
- 9:56Speaker 1: George Kittle four reception thirty four yards and the touchdown,
- 9:59Speaker 1: and Deebo Samuel does a little bit of everything. Eight
- 10:01Speaker 1: Kerry seventy nine yards, one touchdown, one reception for fifteen yards.
- 10:05Speaker 1: San France scored his first five possessions, including opening the
- 10:09Speaker 1: game with a twenty play field goal drive that took
- 10:12Speaker 1: more than thirteen minutes. That offense was out there and
- 10:15Speaker 1: set the tone against the jackson Let them know, Hey,
- 10:18Speaker 1: nnfcy West, you know what you're gonna get. That's a
- 10:21Speaker 1: big l for you. Yeah, the Niners again playing good football.
- 10:24Speaker 1: You mentioned it most portly and Jimmy Garoppol had no interceptions.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Niners ran thirty three of the game's first thirty seven
- 10:31Speaker 1: plays and had more first downs, and Jacksonville had yards.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Midway through the second quarter, this game was getting ugly.
- 10:37Speaker 1: It got so bad that the forty nine ers are
- 10:40Speaker 1: throwing passes to lineman Jimmy Garoppol overthrew the tackle. Well,
- 10:46Speaker 1: I think it's Williams on the play it was his
- 10:48Speaker 1: first ever target. Then the next play they go back
- 10:50Speaker 1: to wars for him hit George Kittle for a touchdown.
- 10:53Speaker 1: But this is how bad it was for the Jacks. Man.
- 10:54Speaker 1: They finished with two hundred yards on forty four plays,
- 10:57Speaker 1: tied for the fifth views in franchise history. Man, someone
- 11:01Speaker 1: go hug Trevor Lawrence. It's a rough time down there.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Things are bad. Aren't great here right now, but a
- 11:06Speaker 1: lot worse in other places. But these forty nine ers
- 11:10Speaker 1: not great Man, not great for the Seahawks. I thought
- 11:13Speaker 1: they were kind of trending a different direction bump, But
- 11:15Speaker 1: they're playing good football. They're five hundred, they're right in
- 11:18Speaker 1: the mix of the playoffs. They found Deebo Samuel could
- 11:22Speaker 1: be in the backfield. They're using him all over the field.
- 11:24Speaker 1: They're playing that style with you know, use check and Kittle.
- 11:27Speaker 1: They're physical, they like to run the ball. He saw
- 11:29Speaker 1: when they beat the Rams they ran the ball at
- 11:30Speaker 1: forty five times or something like that. So I don't
- 11:33Speaker 1: like that. I don't like what I'm seeing there. I
- 11:35Speaker 1: don't like seeing them get right. So it's not great there.
- 11:38Speaker 1: The Rams had a bye last week, so they were
- 11:41Speaker 1: not playing. And I won't spend a ton of time
- 11:44Speaker 1: on this bump, but let's reset it. Playoff picture. For me,
- 11:47Speaker 1: it's simple. Seahawks just need to win one game and
- 11:50Speaker 1: then string together some wins before and we can come
- 11:52Speaker 1: back and kind of revisit this. You know. So the
- 11:55Speaker 1: seventh seed, the Saints have the final playoffs spot at
- 11:57Speaker 1: five and five. They got the forty nine five and five,
- 12:00Speaker 1: the Eagles of five and six, Panthers five and six,
- 12:03Speaker 1: Washington four and six, Falcons four and six, Giants three
- 12:07Speaker 1: and seven, Bears three and seven, and the Seahawks three
- 12:10Speaker 1: and seven. So a lot of grounds makeup. Obviously. That
- 12:15Speaker 1: being said, I have a small I'm mister optimists, So
- 12:19Speaker 1: I just have to say it's a fact. I'm not
- 12:21Speaker 1: making this up, but I have to get it off
- 12:22Speaker 1: my chest. That all being said, Seahawks, there's two games
- 12:26Speaker 1: behind that final walk cart spot. The only problem is
- 12:28Speaker 1: there's seven teams in front of them. I'm just saying
- 12:32Speaker 1: there's a small, small, small, small chance. It's a small chance,
- 12:34Speaker 1: and it's gonna be hard to get there, but you
- 12:37Speaker 1: never know. You never know. The next few games for
- 12:39Speaker 1: the Hawks, they're they're all winnable games coming up in
- 12:42Speaker 1: the NFL. All games are winnable, but I truly believe
- 12:44Speaker 1: these games are winnable. Maybe they go on a historic run,
- 12:47Speaker 1: it's magical, and the Hawks find a way to change
- 12:51Speaker 1: the game. And to do that, they gotta play well
- 12:54Speaker 1: against washing football team. Let's go to man up this
- 13:04Speaker 1: man up, un Hawk talk, Tayler, excuse me, Taylor Heinikey. First,
- 13:10Speaker 1: the Seahawks defense is a matchup. We're gonna be looking
- 13:13Speaker 1: for I talked to John clan earlier today. I go, man,
- 13:17Speaker 1: Taylor's one of the best or one of the hottest
- 13:19Speaker 1: quarterbacks in the league right now. He goes Nosomer down bump.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I'm like, man, two weeks in a row, this guy
- 13:23Speaker 1: has done this thing. He's beat the Pathers. Ain't he
- 13:24Speaker 1: beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But he was thrown into
- 13:27Speaker 1: the fire week one because Ryan Fitz got injured prior
- 13:30Speaker 1: to the season. He on even had two games started
- 13:32Speaker 1: in the NFL. He got his first game action with
- 13:35Speaker 1: the Washington football team week sixteen last year, when Dwayne
- 13:38Speaker 1: Haskins was benched and started the wild card playoff game
- 13:41Speaker 1: against eventual Super Bowl champions the Buccaneers. He played okay,
- 13:44Speaker 1: twenty six to forty four or three hundred and six yards,
- 13:47Speaker 1: one touchdown and the thirty one to twenty three loss.
- 13:50Speaker 1: He was drafted out of Old Dominion College undrafted. Sorry.
- 13:53Speaker 1: You know what I think about when I think of
- 13:54Speaker 1: Old Dominion, they're women's basketball teams. The baby blue with
- 13:58Speaker 1: the sleeves. I think that was the first time I
- 14:00Speaker 1: saw the baby Blue with the sleeves. That's what I
- 14:02Speaker 1: think about. Spec sometimes with the Vikings, the Patriots, the Texas,
- 14:06Speaker 1: the Panthers, and a short stint in the XFFL. This
- 14:09Speaker 1: guy is a journeyman, and he's taken advantage of his
- 14:12Speaker 1: opportunity this year. On this season, he's completed two hundred
- 14:16Speaker 1: and seventeen of three hundred twenty eight passes for twenty
- 14:19Speaker 1: three hundred nine yards, fifteen touchdowns, nine interceptions, and has
- 14:22Speaker 1: been sacked twenty two times. He's also pretty good with
- 14:26Speaker 1: his legs. Forty one carries, two hundred seventy six yards,
- 14:28Speaker 1: one touchdown. He has Washington second leading rusher. I don't
- 14:32Speaker 1: know if that's good or bad. I'm gonna lean towards
- 14:33Speaker 1: bad when your quarterbacks number two and you're not Lamar
- 14:36Speaker 1: Jackson or somebody like that. He's played, but the last
- 14:39Speaker 1: two starts, man, he's been balling. Against Tampa, he's twenty
- 14:41Speaker 1: six to thirty two twenty fifty six yards, one touchdown.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Against Carolina sixteen to twenty two, twenty six yards and
- 14:47Speaker 1: three touchdowns. On defensive Seahawks, they ranked thirtieth against the past,
- 14:51Speaker 1: allowing two hundred and seventy nine yards. They cannot let
- 14:53Speaker 1: this man go off last week, but let a backup
- 14:56Speaker 1: Cope McCoy go off. He threw for three hundred and
- 14:58Speaker 1: twenty eight yards and was the first quarterback to do
- 15:00Speaker 1: that against the Seahawks since Matthew Stafford did it in
- 15:03Speaker 1: Week five. The Seahawks sort of seventh in the NFL
- 15:06Speaker 1: allowing twenty points per game, so they let a backup
- 15:10Speaker 1: get him last week, Calte McCoy. But I'm I'm gonna
- 15:13Speaker 1: go ahead and his tip my hat to Colte McCoy.
- 15:14Speaker 1: That's two years in a row. He came to lou
- 15:16Speaker 1: Midfield and he's done his thing, all right. Heineke is
- 15:19Speaker 1: one of the how does QB's in the league right now?
- 15:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna say Hiven though John Clay don't agree with me,
- 15:24Speaker 1: but last two games don't live. They gotta get after
- 15:27Speaker 1: this man. They have to make him look like an
- 15:29Speaker 1: undrafted guy out of old dominion, no question about it.
- 15:32Speaker 1: You need to get after and that's the thing. So
- 15:34Speaker 1: there's there's kind of the weird balance right when you
- 15:36Speaker 1: have you know, all these good quarterbacks or whoever playing
- 15:39Speaker 1: the Seahawks are getting the ball out fast. That's part
- 15:41Speaker 1: of their game plan. They're gonna take what you're giving him.
- 15:43Speaker 1: If you're playing a deep zone, We're gonn get the
- 15:45Speaker 1: ball out quickly. But the Seahawks, that's you can't use
- 15:48Speaker 1: it as an excuse every time they need to get
- 15:49Speaker 1: after the quarterback. What I want, what I really want
- 15:51Speaker 1: to see, is I only see Darrell Taylor kind of
- 15:53Speaker 1: re emerge. We saw him flash early in the season.
- 15:56Speaker 1: He's got four sacks still in the year. He had
- 15:58Speaker 1: a neck injury, came back, Thank god that wasn't serious.
- 16:00Speaker 1: But I want to see him getting back after it.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I want to see Carlos Dunlab Benson Mayo, Brian Monai
- 16:06Speaker 1: shout out to him, who had a great week last
- 16:08Speaker 1: week one and a half sacks. So the Seahawks really
- 16:10Speaker 1: need to get pressure on this because that was the
- 16:12Speaker 1: thing that kind of disappointing last week was that Coute
- 16:14Speaker 1: McCoy was able to operate easier than I when we
- 16:17Speaker 1: all felt that it should have been. He was completing
- 16:19Speaker 1: balls all over the field and he was taken with
- 16:21Speaker 1: their giving him dumping stuff off and his guys were
- 16:23Speaker 1: making plays. So this week, the Seahawks can't let that
- 16:25Speaker 1: happen because if you allow them to hang around and
- 16:30Speaker 1: function like that early. Especially big thing last week you
- 16:33Speaker 1: give up a sixteen play drive to start the game. Immediately,
- 16:37Speaker 1: Coute McCoy feels comfortable, that offense feels like they can operate.
- 16:39Speaker 1: They're not worried about the crowd noise because you keep
- 16:41Speaker 1: getting first down. So this is a this is a
- 16:44Speaker 1: really big thing with Heineke. You really got to get
- 16:45Speaker 1: after him from the jump. I know the Seahawks are
- 16:48Speaker 1: capable of doing that, so I hope we get to
- 16:49Speaker 1: see that. Now. On the other side, let's we'll get
- 16:51Speaker 1: our quarterback number three, Russell Wilson. On the year, he's
- 16:54Speaker 1: won twenty four of one ninety one one five hundred
- 16:57Speaker 1: and sixty four yards, ten touchdowns, three in twenty four
- 17:01Speaker 1: carries one hundred two yards one touchdown in seven games played.
- 17:05Speaker 1: So really, honestly, since returning it hasn't been the same
- 17:08Speaker 1: Russell Wilson that we've grown accustomed to, the Hall of
- 17:10Speaker 1: famer who has done amazing things pretty much every single
- 17:14Speaker 1: game out here. For the Seahawks last two games, he's
- 17:16Speaker 1: only thirty four of sixty six, three hundred and sixty
- 17:19Speaker 1: eight yards, zero touchdowns, two interceptions, and been sacked seven times.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Those numbers are hard to look at the Seahawks have
- 17:25Speaker 1: only scored thirteen points the last two weeks. This has
- 17:28Speaker 1: been the lowest total over two games stretch in Russell
- 17:31Speaker 1: Wilson's career here. Before that, the lowest total over two
- 17:33Speaker 1: games was fifteen points during weeks one and two during
- 17:37Speaker 1: the twenty sixteen season. Now, if you're thinking about it, thanks,
- 17:40Speaker 1: They'll only get better from here, right And one thing
- 17:44Speaker 1: that really gets it, it's the percentage to Russell completes
- 17:48Speaker 1: a high percentage of his passes customary for Russell Wilson,
- 17:51Speaker 1: you're around seventy percent, little over, a little under. You're
- 17:54Speaker 1: always in that ballpark. So to see where the offense
- 17:58Speaker 1: is at right now, they just gotta get this, gotta
- 18:00Speaker 1: go out of a funk. I think, I think figuring
- 18:02Speaker 1: out what they can do in sustaining drives. You brought
- 18:06Speaker 1: up last podcast, you talked about all through the week.
- 18:08Speaker 1: It's about sustaining drives and staying on the football field.
- 18:10Speaker 1: They need to get into a rhythm early and can't
- 18:12Speaker 1: treat themselves in the foot, can't have miscommunications on a
- 18:15Speaker 1: toss where a versus handoff, can't have guys not getting open,
- 18:18Speaker 1: can't have people not being in the right spot, So
- 18:22Speaker 1: I think I'm hoping I'm gonna speak this into existence.
- 18:24Speaker 1: We've seen the worst of the Seahawks offense this year, definitely,
- 18:28Speaker 1: we've absolutely seen the worst, and I think it's gonna
- 18:30Speaker 1: be a huge bounce back week. There's a lot of
- 18:32Speaker 1: film to look out for, and defensively, the thing where
- 18:35Speaker 1: I have a lot of confidence is Washington the football
- 18:37Speaker 1: team is near the bottom in most categories, twenty fourth
- 18:39Speaker 1: in total defense, twenty eighth against the past, twenty eighth
- 18:42Speaker 1: and points allowed. They're they're just where they only excel
- 18:47Speaker 1: stopping the run. They're good to stopping the run. The
- 18:48Speaker 1: ranks six in the NFL on just ninety yards per game.
- 18:51Speaker 1: So that'll be interesting to see with the Seahawks dial
- 18:53Speaker 1: up there if they're gonna stay consistent trying to run
- 18:55Speaker 1: that football. But I think this is the week things
- 18:58Speaker 1: get turned around offensive league because I think it's just
- 19:01Speaker 1: a good matchup for the Seahawks. I think it's a
- 19:02Speaker 1: good matchup. I have all the faith in Russell Wilson.
- 19:05Speaker 1: This will not be third week returning from an injury,
- 19:07Speaker 1: so I feel good about it. And like we said, man,
- 19:09Speaker 1: it can only go out from here. Man I'm saying
- 19:11Speaker 1: that we're at the bottom. It can only go out
- 19:13Speaker 1: from here. So I'm just gonna pray and speak that
- 19:15Speaker 1: into existence. But third week is the charm. You're going
- 19:19Speaker 1: up against a team that is not great against the pass.
- 19:21Speaker 1: They give up some points. You guys are good at
- 19:24Speaker 1: being stingy giving up points. I'm just gonna like you do.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I'm just gonna all positivity. Let's go. Let's go. Next matchup,
- 19:30Speaker 1: Antonio Gibson versus Seahawks front seven. Antonio has had one
- 19:34Speaker 1: hundred and fifty four carries, six hundred yards and five touchdowns,
- 19:37Speaker 1: nineteen receptions one hundred and fifty eight yards and one
- 19:40Speaker 1: touchdowns one touchdown. He's fumble five times and lost three
- 19:43Speaker 1: of them. So get back to what they used to do,
- 19:45Speaker 1: punching that ball out, being aggressive, strip that thing on
- 19:48Speaker 1: the flip side. The Seahawks spring twenty third against the
- 19:50Speaker 1: running alowing one hundred and twenty three yards per game.
- 19:53Speaker 1: They have allowed a one hundred yard rusher since Week
- 19:56Speaker 1: three against the Vikings. Keep that up. Antonio Get hasn't
- 20:00Speaker 1: rushed for over a hundred yards yet this year, as
- 20:02Speaker 1: high as ninety five yards. Let's not make this game.
- 20:05Speaker 1: The game where he does that, I think if you
- 20:07Speaker 1: could do that, get pressure on Heinekey, you got chances
- 20:10Speaker 1: to win this ball game. But that front seven has
- 20:12Speaker 1: a step up. You mentioned earlier, dum La, Dunlap, Callerer
- 20:15Speaker 1: in Bevins and Maoa last year there were the guys
- 20:18Speaker 1: who got it done. It'd be nice to have those
- 20:20Speaker 1: names reamurged, especially against Antonio Gibson, no question about it.
- 20:24Speaker 1: The Seahawks, or at least with Gibson. You know, he
- 20:27Speaker 1: has nineteen receptions one hundred and fifty eight yards, one touchdown.
- 20:30Speaker 1: The Seahawks have been getting hurt by running backs in
- 20:32Speaker 1: the past game, whether it's screen or dump off passes.
- 20:35Speaker 1: They've been getting crushed there and that's one place where
- 20:38Speaker 1: you really hope that they don't get burned again this week.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Because Gibson has been solid. I mean, he's been an
- 20:43Speaker 1: outlet one hundred fifty eight yards. There is nothing to
- 20:45Speaker 1: write write home about, but that's an area where the
- 20:47Speaker 1: Seahawks have been hurt recently, and I know their offensive
- 20:50Speaker 1: staff is going to be planning for that. So hopefully
- 20:52Speaker 1: Seahawks and get that short up. Now, the receivers in
- 20:55Speaker 1: this this is this is a good matchup for me,
- 20:57Speaker 1: one of the bigger ones of the game. So Terry
- 20:59Speaker 1: McLaurin and Jady McKissick versus the Seahawks secondary, I'll just
- 21:02Speaker 1: just called the back seven mclauren, McLaren I think I
- 21:05Speaker 1: just messing up his name. McLaren's got fifty four reception,
- 21:08Speaker 1: seven hundred and thirty five yards and five teddies. Mckissic's
- 21:11Speaker 1: got thirty eight receptions, three seventy one and one touchdown.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Also's got forty one carries for one hundred and eighty
- 21:16Speaker 1: two yards in one touchdown. Now, bump, when I watched
- 21:19Speaker 1: the film on these guys, these are the two dudes
- 21:21Speaker 1: that scare me. These are the two dudes. When they
- 21:23Speaker 1: have the ball in their hand, they can make plays.
- 21:25Speaker 1: And I'll just go through some explosives here. Mclauren has
- 21:28Speaker 1: receptions of thirty nine, twenty one, seventeen, forty, eighteen, thirty three,
- 21:33Speaker 1: thirty seven, eighteen and thirty four yards. Mckissic, he's got
- 21:37Speaker 1: a run of fifteen eleven, ten, eleven, all sets, receptions
- 21:40Speaker 1: of fourteen, twenty seven, fifteen, sixteen, thirty and fifty six. Man,
- 21:45Speaker 1: these dudes can do it. They can. They can make
- 21:46Speaker 1: plays all over the field, and they're the ones that
- 21:48Speaker 1: scare me. So if you're gonna take somebody away, it's
- 21:50Speaker 1: these two right here, Bump. You have to take the
- 21:53Speaker 1: playmakers away. Terry can get down the field deep and
- 21:57Speaker 1: make plays, also catch screens to do this thing. We
- 21:59Speaker 1: all know what Jady can do. Man. He was here
- 22:00Speaker 1: in Seattle and he's finally getting an opportunity to show
- 22:03Speaker 1: what he can do. So we're happy for that guy.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Just don't want him to ball out against us. In
- 22:07Speaker 1: twenty seventeen, he was the last Seahawk running back to
- 22:11Speaker 1: score a touchdown and that was in Week four twenty seventeen.
- 22:14Speaker 1: It was all about Russell Wilson running the rod until
- 22:16Speaker 1: JD showed up and said, let me help you out there,
- 22:20Speaker 1: all right? Another matchup Jonathan Allen and Montes Sweat versus
- 22:24Speaker 1: Seahawks offensive line. Johnathan Allen has thirty four tackles, six sacks,
- 22:28Speaker 1: eight tackles for Los Montes swept nineteen tackles, four sacks,
- 22:32Speaker 1: three tackles for lost in two forced fumbles. Alan and
- 22:34Speaker 1: Swayed combined for fifty percent of the sacks for the
- 22:37Speaker 1: Washington football team. The Seahawks offensive line needs to protect better.
- 22:41Speaker 1: They have allowed thirty three sacks than this season in
- 22:43Speaker 1: twenty sacks in the last five games. I've been watching
- 22:46Speaker 1: film on this offensive line and talking to our offensive
- 22:50Speaker 1: line Google Ray Roberts and asking just what's going on man,
- 22:53Speaker 1: and end of the day, it comes down to technique
- 22:55Speaker 1: and communication. If they can tighten those things up, I
- 22:59Speaker 1: think they will be Okay. There's gonna be a bright
- 23:02Speaker 1: spot on Duwayne Brown. He played one of his best
- 23:04Speaker 1: games last week according to the head coach Peak Curl.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Let's see if he can back it up. It all
- 23:10Speaker 1: starts with the big boys. Starting in with the big boys,
- 23:12Speaker 1: the quarterback, running backs, receivers, dB, safeties. They get all
- 23:15Speaker 1: the love. But the big boys are not protecting and
- 23:18Speaker 1: getting after the quarterback. You don't stand a chance to
- 23:20Speaker 1: win ball games. No, you absolutely do. Not nice thing
- 23:23Speaker 1: for the Seahawks. Obviously, it's tough fore Chase go down
- 23:26Speaker 1: with the torn ACL but he's a great football player.
- 23:29Speaker 1: He won't be in the lineup against the Seahawks on
- 23:31Speaker 1: Sunday so day. The Seahawks of offensive line has that
- 23:33Speaker 1: coming for him. But you mentioned those guys that get
- 23:36Speaker 1: all the love Dk Metcalf, Tyre Lockett, Jarl Everett against
- 23:39Speaker 1: this Washington football team secondary. Lockett was one of the
- 23:41Speaker 1: few bright spots last week four receptions one hundred and
- 23:44Speaker 1: fifteen yards. Metcalf was kept mainly in check four receptions
- 23:48Speaker 1: thirty one yards and not saying he was personally locked up,
- 23:50Speaker 1: but things just didn't work out for him in the
- 23:52Speaker 1: past game and the season trend is continuing. Man without
- 23:56Speaker 1: big games from Locking and Metcalf, this offense struggles the
- 23:59Speaker 1: average right now in games when DK when wins for
- 24:03Speaker 1: the Seahawks, and those three wins, DK and Tyler combined
- 24:06Speaker 1: averaging eleven receptions one hundred and forty four yards and
- 24:09Speaker 1: two touchdowns and losses, they're averaging about eight eight receptions
- 24:13Speaker 1: a game one hundred and thirty two yards in less
- 24:15Speaker 1: than a touchdown. So and these numbers will be way
- 24:17Speaker 1: more skewed if the Seahawks didn't blow a game against
- 24:20Speaker 1: the Titans. Essentially, games where this offense is functioning at
- 24:23Speaker 1: a high level, these two are balling out. Tyler Lockett
- 24:26Speaker 1: now takes a lead over in yards of seven and
- 24:29Speaker 1: seventeen on the season, forty seven receptions, three tuddies Mattcalf's
- 24:32Speaker 1: got forty six for six thirty seven and eight tuddies.
- 24:36Speaker 1: So when you watch them play bump, why why do
- 24:39Speaker 1: you think it's been inconsistent getting these guys of football.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I think of tough because you get into these third
- 24:44Speaker 1: and long situations and then you're you're keeping guys into protecting.
- 24:49Speaker 1: You're taking shots with two man combinations. I understand why
- 24:52Speaker 1: you line up you get a double tighten their you
- 24:54Speaker 1: want to protect Russell. But when you do that and
- 24:56Speaker 1: then you don't release those guys, it's easy forty safeties
- 24:59Speaker 1: to stay on top of these wants, to use their
- 25:00Speaker 1: eyes in rome and hone in on these quarterbacks. And honestly,
- 25:03Speaker 1: Russell's just been off a little bit. You know, he's
- 25:05Speaker 1: missed some throws that he typically doesn't miss. I think
- 25:07Speaker 1: that's just him knocking off the rust and being like,
- 25:09Speaker 1: all right, third week, we're gonna get these going, and
- 25:12Speaker 1: we just have to make big plays. You gotta go
- 25:15Speaker 1: up and snatch the ball out the air when there's
- 25:16Speaker 1: a dB on the So it's a combination of things
- 25:19Speaker 1: everyone can do better. You cannot just highlight one person
- 25:23Speaker 1: or one unit on this football team and say you
- 25:25Speaker 1: know what. This is the reason why this team has
- 25:28Speaker 1: not been successful. But for them to be successful successful,
- 25:32Speaker 1: for the Hawks to get this win on Monday Night football,
- 25:36Speaker 1: here's their path to victory. At the forty five waits
- 25:41Speaker 1: for the snaff, Michael Vickson puts it down. That kick
- 25:44Speaker 1: is away. If that kick is gone, it's gone. It's
- 25:49Speaker 1: a pens to victory on Hawk Talk. I mentioned it
- 25:53Speaker 1: early in the show Man. The Seahawks need to sustain
- 25:55Speaker 1: drives on offense. Only had three drives and more than
- 25:59Speaker 1: seven plays in the last two weeks. They need to
- 26:01Speaker 1: be able to stay on the field. Bump and I
- 26:03Speaker 1: went into a deep dive on some third down numbers
- 26:05Speaker 1: for the Seahawks. Right because everyone talks about third downs.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Third downs have to be better. Third downs have to
- 26:10Speaker 1: be better. But why do they have to be better?
- 26:12Speaker 1: How can they get better? So just last week the
- 26:14Speaker 1: Seahawks for two of ten on third down, bringing them
- 26:17Speaker 1: to thirty five of one hundred and eight for on
- 26:20Speaker 1: the season. That's thirty two percent. That's not where they
- 26:21Speaker 1: want to be. But to help that number, you gotta
- 26:24Speaker 1: stay out of third and long. I was shocked when
- 26:27Speaker 1: I went through the numbers and really saw this. The
- 26:29Speaker 1: Seahawks are nine of fifty seven when facing third or
- 26:33Speaker 1: seven and more. That's fifteen percent. The fact that they've
- 26:36Speaker 1: been in not fifty seven third and sevens or more
- 26:40Speaker 1: is unreal to me. And you break it down a
- 26:43Speaker 1: step further, bump, I'm pretty sure they are three of
- 26:46Speaker 1: thirty five in third ten, third down and ten and more,
- 26:49Speaker 1: meaning they have been in third and ten thirty five
- 26:53Speaker 1: times this year. That is that was astonishing. I mean
- 26:56Speaker 1: that jumped out, and that's why is that. It's it's
- 26:59Speaker 1: what happens on first and second down. That's how you
- 27:00Speaker 1: helped third down. And then on the flip side, the
- 27:02Speaker 1: Seahawks are twenty six a fifty one when facing third
- 27:06Speaker 1: and six or less. That's fifty percent. That's exactly where
- 27:09Speaker 1: you want to be. So the key is figuring out
- 27:11Speaker 1: what's going on in first and second down and getting
- 27:13Speaker 1: to third and managul. It sounds so simple, but when
- 27:16Speaker 1: the numbers are out there in front of you, you
- 27:18Speaker 1: call plays. How many plays you have when it's third
- 27:20Speaker 1: and ten plus, man, I mean, it's it's just figure
- 27:23Speaker 1: it out on third down and stay. If you stay
- 27:25Speaker 1: out of third and longs, you will be successful on offense.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Sounds like a folid plan. Those numbers are crazy or
- 27:32Speaker 1: freaking crazy. All right, Another paths to victory. DK and
- 27:35Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett. You got to get them involved. You have
- 27:38Speaker 1: to allow them to be the big players that they are,
- 27:41Speaker 1: the dynamic duo that we love. We have to see
- 27:44Speaker 1: these guys do their thing and then get off the
- 27:46Speaker 1: field on third down. This season, the Seahawks are holding
- 27:48Speaker 1: upponents to just thirty seven percent on third down, but
- 27:50Speaker 1: the last two weeks against Green Bay and Arizona they
- 27:53Speaker 1: were fifty percent. So you can't allow long drives and
- 27:56Speaker 1: we've seen that happen in the last couple of weeks. Yep,
- 27:59Speaker 1: gotta get off the field. Got to get off the field.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Got to stay on the field on offense. Then you
- 28:02Speaker 1: gotta get pressure on the QB. We talked about it.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Tarya Heineke is one of the hottest qbs in National
- 28:06Speaker 1: Football League right now, and the Seahawks only have seventeen
- 28:08Speaker 1: sacks on the air. They need to find a way
- 28:11Speaker 1: to put him in the ground. They need to find
- 28:12Speaker 1: a way to get sacked, get their hands on qb hits,
- 28:15Speaker 1: hurries in sacks and please start fast, Please start fast,
- 28:19Speaker 1: especially offensively. We all know you can't win the game
- 28:22Speaker 1: till the fourth quarter, but I'm telling you that the
- 28:24Speaker 1: fourth quarter gets a lot easier if you have something
- 28:27Speaker 1: to shore for it early on. So I would love
- 28:29Speaker 1: to see the Seahawks offense start out fast. Please please
- 28:33Speaker 1: start fast. One play at a time, one drive at
- 28:36Speaker 1: a time, one quarter at a time. Find a way
- 28:38Speaker 1: to go one and oh that's the number we're looking for.
- 28:41Speaker 1: One your first a your first third down, winning down.
- 28:46Speaker 1: We just want one win at a time. That's how
- 28:49Speaker 1: you get or done. Absolutely, but by cannot wait, hoping
- 28:52Speaker 1: the Seahawks figure it out. A lot of good ways
