Transcript
- 0:00Hello, Hello, Hello, Welcome back to Gateleapers, and we are leaping
- 0:04back into the sitcom world with this episode in the universe of Parks and Recreation,
- 0:10the world of Pawnee. That's the world of Pawnnee Pawnee, obviously starring
- 0:17the wonderful and talented Nick Offerman, who was just absolutely killed it in the
- 0:22Last of Us. So we thought we'd you know, link this mother's episodes
- 0:27and leap from his sad boy world of The Last of Us into his surly,
- 0:32grumpy boy world of Parks and Recreation. We were joined by not only
- 0:36two of our favorite players, but two of our favorite people are good friends,
- 0:40Chris Reagan and Adam Wood on the same episode at the same time.
- 0:44Can you believe it? Well, I can because it already happened. I
- 0:49lived it. But this is the edited version of that thing that we lived.
- 0:53It was such a wonderful time, honestly, one of the most laugh
- 0:58filled gate Leapers in the Everyone was just cracking up the whole time. It's
- 1:03I mean, hopefully this comes across as just ninety minutes of pure joy in
- 1:07a sitcom world. That's what it felt like. And if you'd like to
- 1:11see more of that pure joy. Why not head on over to patreon dot
- 1:15com forward slash gate Leapers, where starting this year, including this very episode,
- 1:21we release full unedited videos of the podcast recording. Yeah, that's right,
- 1:26unedited, So it's got all of that messy production stuff behind it.
- 1:30I'll try and sell it as like a cool extra behind the scenes peak,
- 1:34but the reality is we've got nothing to hide, and it takes a lot
- 1:40of time to edit video. So it's it's laziness. It's laziness more than
- 1:46anything, but laziness that you benefit from. For just three fifty a month,
- 1:49you get at free episodes, access to the unedited video versions of the
- 1:55episodes, and of course our bonus monthly episode fandom flashback if you just want
- 2:00more content, more contents always good, right. So it's the price of
- 2:05a Starbucks coffee once a month to pay your starving artists. That's us not
- 2:09really starving. And look, if you can't support us financially, or quite
- 2:14frankly, if you don't want to support us financially, that's fine too.
- 2:16But please do consider sharing the episode, or just your favorite episode of gate
- 2:21Leapers with a friend, with a family member, with any one at all.
- 2:25Just do it. It helps us out a ton, word of mouth,
- 2:30word of social media, all those things. More people find us every
- 2:34day, and it's fantastic. We've had some lovely messages recently from listeners who
- 2:38found gate Leapers and how much it means to them, and that means a
- 2:43lot to us. We just love being silly, we love making this thing.
- 2:46So if it means more than that to someone else, yeah, amazing.
- 2:52So spread the love, help more people find gate Leapers. Follow us
- 2:55on Twitter at gate Leapers. Join our discord. That's where myself, Audre
- 3:00and Jason will chat a bit about pop culture, among a number of other
- 3:06topics. So I'll put a fresh link to that in this episode description.

- 3:14to engage with them on a regular basis, actually join our discords. That's
- 3:16the place for it right there. But now, without further whatever, this
- 3:22is, it's time for Gateleapers Season three, Episode two, Parks and Recreation.
- 3:46Hello and welcome to Gateleapers, the pop culture game show that shines a
- 3:50spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your games master and councilman Slash orthodontist Matt
- 3:57Watson. Do you hear this? Do you think of depressed person could make
- 4:00this? Those are two references of this show completely. First off, Jeremy
- 4:06Jam Yes you just got Jam what a fucking great character? Awful but yes,
- 4:12yeah, funny, I tear an awful person. Yeah, funny character
- 4:16for funny Yeah. And then also completely forgot about the claimation stuff too.
- 4:20Yeah, that is a very central to my mental state a lot of the
- 4:27time. Could a depressed person make this? See this entire podcast for more
- 4:31reference. And of course I couldn't reign in this Parks department without a little
- 4:38help from my two team captains. She is the Ben to my Leslie.
- 4:42It's Aldre Stephenson. Hello. And he is the Ben to Mike Chris It's
- 4:46Jason newn Hello. Captains Ready for a series of games about the second most
- 4:55streamed sitcom of all time according to American Millennials Weekly. WHOA Yes, Yeah
- 5:00for sure, Yeah, especially after knowing that yes it's a made up publication.
- 5:05Yeah, for purely for a joke that I've now ruined Parks and rec
- 5:10You both familiar if you both seen it all? Super love it m like
- 5:14a lot? Yes, It has been a while since I have watched through
- 5:17it, but I have watched through it more than twice. Oh yeah,
- 5:21okay, for sure, I think so. Going into the Michael scherverse,
- 5:25we did an episode on The Office. I think I mentioned that I've watched
- 5:29that a Watton College. The natural progression of watching The Office a ton of
- 5:32times on re watch on Netflix is you eventually get into parks and rec Yes,
- 5:38fucking love that did that for a bit too, and now it's done,
- 5:42and now it's been gone for a few years. That's true. I
- 5:44think it's going to be the theme of the episode as we're all trying to
- 5:46recall information from pre pandemic. So we'll see how that goes. Yeah,
- 5:51Ultra binged it. Watched it all at the time, Yes, yes,
- 5:56also twice. Oh yeah, yeah, okay, okay, okay. I
- 6:00watched every episode. I watched it once and then I went back and watched
- 6:03that episode, and then I went on continually to binge the next episode.
- 6:08You would think it would be that I watched the whole thing and then at
- 6:12a later date went back and started at the beginning and watched it. Didn't
- 6:15what you watched every episode twice? In a bro Is that what you're saying.
- 6:20Yes, she watched one episode one, and then she watched season one
- 6:24episode one, and she watched season one episode two, and then she watched
- 6:27season one episode two. That's how he learned things by wrote, Honestly,
- 6:32I started that bit. I was like, there's no way anyone's gonna let
- 6:38me get this far into very gullible. I thought that sometimes you do weird
- 6:46ship man. I thought I thought that one of you would apparently, so
- 6:55wait, go on, Yes, we're just very in I would also like
- 7:01to do this try Well, you've heard their voices, and to play these
- 7:09games about parks and rec you'll each need a recurring citizen of Pawnee to help
- 7:13you along the way. Jason, who is your teammates today, he's a
- 7:17returning player. He is the Dennis Finstein to my Donna Meagel. And now
- 7:20we don't have many scenes together. It's Adam Wood, Hello, Adam,
- 7:26how's it going? Um? I once you know, I was originally named
- 7:30Dante Fierro, but I did go with Dennis Finstein as it sounds a little
- 7:32bit more exotic. Good reference right up top, coming out the gate,
- 7:39hot tonight, Yeah, off the top of the dome man. So,
- 7:42Adam, Parks and Rec. I assume with that reference, you're very familiar
- 7:46how much? Well, yeah, are you a big fan? There was
- 7:47a time where I knew Parks and Rec as well as I knew the Office.
- 7:51UM had said, I haven't watched it's probably been yet, probably been
- 7:56pre pandemic. Really, since I've watched Parks and rad earlier this week,
- 8:01I was like, I should brush up, you know. So I pulled
- 8:03up Peacock to go watch Parks and Rec. And then they had announced that
- 8:09that the Office UH had dropped the sixth season of the super Fan episodes.
- 8:15I was like, I could catch up on Parks, or I could watch
- 8:18three minutes of extra footage per episode from me. So we're we're yeah,
- 8:26We're coming into this one a little bit rusty, but but I'm excited.
- 8:28Hey, look, as soon as they dropped the Parks and Rec Fan super
- 8:31Cup episodes, You'll be You'll be there, You'll be there for I'll be
- 8:35there all over it. Just out of interest, Adam, do you have
- 8:37a favorite Parks and Rec character? Do you want to give a little little
- 8:41shout out to any favorite characters? I meant Parks and rec does I think
- 8:46a great job of like absurd but also really really lovable characters. Um,
- 8:52they're there are a couple of really strong ones. Um, I mean obviously
- 8:56like Nick offerman Is. I think, like like so like beloved in pop
- 9:01culture because of Ron Swanson, right, but uh, I think my favorite
- 9:05has to be h Old Tommy Haverford. And I think the reason is and
- 9:09the reason is is because as Z's I'm sorry, found his role. He
- 9:13played that role perfectly. No one could play that role better and I don't
- 9:18think as Zis will ever find a role better than that one ever again.
- 9:22You know, like it was, it was perfect, it was, it
- 9:24was prime. He was just playing the most obnoxious and lovable version of himself.
- 9:28And U, yes, well for us, Adam, this boat's very
- 9:33well. And Jason fancies himself as something of a Tommy Fresh. We'll get
- 9:37into it. Yeah, yeah, we'll get into again into it. I'll
- 9:39be the Jean Ralphaoti or Tommy. Then there we go, there we go.
- 9:46I've got to rewrite the copy now. And Udra who is joining you
- 9:50today. He's a returning player. He's originally from Eagleton, but he's got
- 9:54morals, so you wouldn't know it's Chris d. Reagan. You be from
- 10:03Eagleton, I would be from Eagleton, and fuck all of you guys such
- 10:16I'm sorry. It's not my fault. I'm a foot taller than everybody.
- 10:22I'm just I'm just better, so very Eagleton. Of you, christ And
- 10:31are you a fan? Are you familiar? Yes? I was late to
- 10:35Parks and rec I think I I think I got into it probably in twenty
- 10:41early twenty seventeen, I think is when I watched it for the first time.
- 10:46Okay, um, but I have had several rewatches since then. I
- 10:52watched almost two seasons this week. Oh this is my last. I mean,
- 11:03if he if he gets really deep into season three and four, we're
- 11:07fucking solid. Outside of that, I might be a little fun. They'll
- 11:11be there'll be some three and four ends, some outside they'll be the whole,
- 11:15the whole thing. They basically the whole thing. We'll do the whole
- 11:16thing, the whole spectrum of you. I figured, yeah, I get
- 11:20it. If I had enough time to watch the entire season in the last
- 11:24week, I would have. Um, that's how dedicated I am, too
- 11:28gately so dedicated. We appreciate that. We love that. I hope it
- 11:31helps you win, but in a very unbalanced, unbiased sort of way where
- 11:35I hope both teams do just as well as each other. I'm trying to
- 11:37be more imposial this. Yeah, I appreciate that, And I considered declining
- 11:43and just retiring because, as you guys covered in the statistics Gate leavers,
- 11:48Um, I have sixty nine points currently and outside of four twenty that I
- 11:56can't get a more perfect number. So I guess I'll just have to I'll
- 11:58have to dedicate myself to getting up to four twenty. That's that's it.
- 12:03You've either got to go for nothing or shoot for the moon. You could
- 12:05also just play very very poorly tonight if you would like to see that.
- 12:11That's that's more likely for sure. Um, a record breaking zero points would
- 12:20be monumentous. As your teammate shoot for four twenty, man, I would
- 12:28never I would never purposely throw it. I couldn't do that, thank you.
- 12:33Yeah, don't worry. I have way too much pride as an Eagletonian
- 12:35to to let a couple of pawny and fucking win. Of course, of
- 12:41course, Uldre, you're gonna have to join that posh, fancy side of
- 12:43things. You've got to also be an Eagletonian. Okay, I'll do it.
- 12:48I mean, if duty calls, if duty calls, Chris if do
- 12:52you have a favorite character that you want to give a little give a little
- 12:54shout out to. Like Adam said, there's so many, there's so many
- 12:58good characters, and specifically in the show, there's so many good outside of
- 13:03the main cast, like the just reoccurring random characters. Yes, outside of
- 13:09community. I think Parks and rerec does it the best. Um and shit,
- 13:15I gotta say John Ralphio, Yeah, made right choice. I have
- 13:20the biggest smile on my face every time he's on the goddamn TV and he
- 13:24makes me a giggle every single time, no matter how many times I've heard
- 13:28these stupid fucking jokes. Yeah, that's that's a good call. It really
- 13:33is. It's it's as good as like Springfield or something like that in terms
- 13:37of bringing out this wide town of weird characters. Whether there's basically someone for
- 13:41every single job that is in the town, and it's great, so so
- 13:46fucking weird. Um. I know. Just the last thing on my notes
- 13:52here before we get to team names. Is that Adam and Chris have a
- 13:56friendly rivalry, stoke it and discuss. Uh so, I guess I should
- 14:01have read that first part. But yeah, yeah, you hate each other,
- 14:03right, but in a friendly sort of way. Yeah, so much
- 14:07so that we have matching tattoos. Yes, yes, so it's it's like
- 14:13a hatred like that's built up on just like just so goddamn much sexual tension,
- 14:18like like you would show me just you know, I wish just that
- 14:22night in the barn. Yeah, yep, oh my god. Yeah,
- 14:28we shared sleeping back. This is a real story. He wants to leave
- 14:35this. This is a Patriot story if I've ever heard. It was one
- 14:39sleeping bag and we were on top of the haystack. Ye canby no,
- 14:48okay if you want it to be did you find the needle? Okay?
- 14:56Well, our teams have volunteered with the POS departments. Let's hope no wacky
- 15:01situations that make for great comfort TV happen on your first day. Now,
- 15:05before we start the quiz, I'm going to need a Parks and Wreck themed
- 15:09team name from each pair. Please, Let's begin with Jason and adds him.
- 15:13I got one strong one, but I think the idea that you could
- 15:18be the John Ralph here to my Tom Hefford also opens up some things.
- 15:20But I wanted I wanted to kind of go with the Little Sebastians. Oh
- 15:26right, a Little Sebastians. That's that's solid. I'll tell you I'll tell
- 15:30you mine just because it makes me laugh. This one's more of a deep
- 15:33cut from My Boy Tommy, the episode where they find the community garden and
- 15:39you know, and he's explaining to Leslie the names of the different plants there.
- 15:45I just think I think the Soldier Boy tell Thems would be a pretty
- 15:48sorry, that's good to go with the Soldier Boy tell Hims. Yeah yeah,
- 16:00you've also got like the bone Thugs and harmoniums, but the Soldier Boy
- 16:03tell him. Yeah. God, I love how that was even like a
- 16:11dated reference at the time to kind of get across the character of Tom soldier
- 16:18boy and bone bugs and harmony that really yeah, yeah, it really does.
- 16:22It's so good. Oh fantastic. Okay, that's a great team name.
- 16:26We've got the Soldier Boy tell Hims versus l Drink Chris. I have
- 16:33a couple on my list. Was also Little Sebastians, so We're gonna skip
- 16:37over that because it has already been discussed. But um, mouse Rat,
- 16:42that's the name of Andy Dwyer's band. That's another one that I had.
- 16:45I've forgotten the other one that I had mouse Rat Rat Mouse mouse Rat Rat
- 16:52Bastards is more like it. Mouse Rat is super good. I'm super onboard.
- 16:56I also have a couple. Um this My first one is a play
- 17:00on something on the radio talk show hosts um Crazy Audra and the Douche.
- 17:11Good love that instead of crazy Ira or the or the reasonable lists, which
- 17:17is the cult that Yeah, yeah, yeah, you can argue with reasonable
- 17:23lists. Yeah, I fucking love crazy. I think myself as crazy.
- 17:34But Matt, do you have a sound more than a no? It's too
- 17:42expensive? Sorry? That was And it works out that I'm the Douche.
- 17:51It works out that I'm the douche because I'm from Eagleton, So and the
- 18:00Douche. I've got it this. These are the longest team names we've had
- 18:03yet. But I'm here for the chaos. It's your three. Let's do
- 18:07this. The Soldier boy tell hims versus Crazy Order and the Douche love it?
- 18:12Do I have to say it like that? Every time. Yes,
- 18:15yeah, And look, if you're listening to this and thinking, well,
- 18:18I don't know anything about Parks and Recreation actually, so I won't understand the
- 18:22next ninety minutes of esoteric games, don't worry his order with a little segment
- 18:26we like to call passing knowledge. Passing knowledge. Now we've killed Holo,
- 18:36Chris need it in animal, and all three of us that we try it
- 18:40over the zoo. Ready incredible, It's fine, We're a train wreck.
- 18:57Parks and Recreation is an NBC sitcom that aired from two thousand and nine to
- 19:03twenty fifteen. Originally intended as an expansion of the Office Universe, negative first
- 19:07season reviews forced a retooling, and the show got an identity of its own,
- 19:11giving us a great comedy show, but robbing us of a Michael Scott
- 19:15crossover episode, Who God Please No? Who Whoa? Whoa. The series
- 19:23revolves around the parks department of the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. Just
- 19:29to clarify, Indiana as a state is technically real. I just personally refuse
- 19:34to recognize it as such. That's just a personal thing. Don't worry about
- 19:40it. I remember the first time I voted I was in my bedroom and
- 19:42I was five. I voted for Mildred my stuffed pig, but my cat
- 19:48pancakes won. She had more funding politics right. The cast includes Amy Poehler,
- 19:52Rashida Jones, A ziz On, Sorry, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza,
- 19:56Chris Pratt, and Adam Scott, who have all on to start in
- 20:00quality TV shows in the last few years. Yeah. Also Chris Pratt is
- 20:06still around it just in voices non Italian plumbers and goes to church. I
- 20:11think I think that's all he does. I might not crying, Okay,
- 20:15a little allergic to er. This show has maintained a cult status over the
- 20:19last decade and remains one of the most stream sitcoms of all time, second
- 20:26only Too, Yes, you guessed it, The Orville. Just joking,
- 20:30it's obviously the Office. My anxiety has kept me up for over fifty hours.
- 20:40Shot in a mockumentary cinema verite style, characters will often look directly into
- 20:45the camera to punchline a joke at the end of a scene, which is
- 20:48what I am doing right now. I'm looking directly into the microphone instead of
- 20:52saying a bit. It doesn't work as well as an audio medium. It
- 20:57doesn't work very good. Thank you, Adre. Okay, just before we
- 21:02get to the games, I've asked each player to bring in a muse,
- 21:06something that inspires them or something they love from this particular fandom. As Leslie
- 21:11no Por once said, one person's annoying is another person's inspiring and heroic.
- 21:15You hear that a fictional character considers me an inspiring hero for making this podcast.
- 21:21See I am doing something with my life dad. Okay, Jason,
- 21:27what's inspiring you? From the world of Pawny. So I so I planned
- 21:34this before Adam had revealed that if one of his favorite characters is tom have
- 21:38referred because my muse is a little Tommy tu like I think that as a
- 21:45person, I am mostly Tommy. Have refard a little bit of chrisp Andy
- 21:51Dwyer in there, as evidenced I'm not so bright. Sometimes I fell for
- 21:55the thing where that she watches each episode twice over. But I'm also very
- 22:00much Tommy. Haven't heard in that. Generally speaking, in people's friend groups,
- 22:03I am. I am a small Asian guy who's really loud and loves
- 22:07two thousands zerras R and B and I have a lot of business ideas,
- 22:11too many, too many business ideas all the time. I didn't think about
- 22:14the Yeah, I didn't think about it until we got in here and we
- 22:18had lights. There is glitter on you now. No, I love it.
- 22:25I love all the Yeah, the Sierra and the Little Lane and the
- 22:27tee Bane and the Acon. That is very much my era of music that
- 22:32I grew up with. But yeah, I'm like, I'm like a Tommy
- 22:34Haverford. Yeah, very much. Tom have ad not on his zz and
- 22:38s are you separating them? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 22:41yeah, yeah. I'm trying to open up a business, not a
- 22:44closet one. That's that's on the back burner. That's that's if the food
- 22:47based one works well, yeah, which then you have Jason's closet in James's
- 22:52closet. Yeah, perfect, very inspiring. Always get to hear favorite characters
- 22:56from shows. Let's move over, it's your teammates, Adam, what's inspiring
- 23:02you from Parks and Rack. Uh, It's already been referenced right out the
- 23:06gate, but it's it's one of the most inspiring. Uh, one of
- 23:10the most inspiring, Like character arcs. Depressed Ben Wyatt, de President Wyatt
- 23:15is always my music. So you've got the claymation. And then you also
- 23:18can't forget he gets truly into the cal zone, the cow zone zone Zone.
- 23:26Okay, yeah, okay, that's being corrected. I'm remembering so many
- 23:32team names I had. Cow Zone Zone was one of them, Ice Town
- 23:33was one of them. Something. There's something else based on this is you
- 23:37have done Shire. Yeah it's really used called right now, sire um none.
- 23:41But I did have to come in and say I wasn't shit. I
- 23:47was. It's fine. Back to Ben Wyatt. You're right, though,
- 23:51Adam depressed. Ben Wyatt is a whole energy. It's a whole because he's
- 23:55a guy who's very capable, is one of the more level headed characters within
- 23:59the show. But when he bottoms out, he bottoms out like hard and
- 24:03and and I think I think you already mentioned tones of Dunshi or two and
- 24:06like that. It's like it's almost like a semi depressed because he does that
- 24:10one when he's in between jobs later on and just like Ben Wyat with too
- 24:15much energy and nothing to do about it. It's it's delightful, it's yeah,
- 24:18it's such good shit. I mean, how many projects did all of
- 24:22us have during COVID, right, they all said we're going to do something
- 24:26or make something. Everyone became depressed. Benygain, Yeah, I think it's
- 24:30the hyperfixation that really really drives it home. Yeah, fantastic. Another another
- 24:37character shout out definitely that they all won't make a sitcom, but specifically the
- 24:41depressed version. I like it. Okay, let's move on over to the
- 24:45team of Crazy Older and the Douche, and let's start with that douche.
- 24:49What what's it Christ? What's inspiring you? From Fox and Red? Um,
- 24:53there's a ton of things inspiring right now. However, I am my
- 25:00my lovely wife Jen who you know gate Leaper's legend. I think, yeah,
- 25:10yeah, I think so. I'm gonna um, she went out today
- 25:15looking for blueberry wine for me and found blueberry cider instead. So um,
- 25:21it's good enough. In the spirit of that episode where Ben gets completely wasted
- 25:26and he and Ron kind of get lost in the woods, I'm gonna have
- 25:29to say Eagleton. Ron is played by Elliott played by Sam Legendary minor characters.
- 25:37Yeah, yes, such a good minor character. And it's just the
- 25:42weirdest fucking hippie and that it was Sam Elliott playing hippie. It was the
- 25:48It was one of my favorite things. So I'm gonna get drunk on blueberries
- 25:52and right on the ings of the wings of an eagle, I said,
- 25:56the ings of a eagle. Yeah, it was. It made for a
- 26:00very funny sentence and talking. It's the blooms talking the blame it on the
- 26:07blooms. I think at the start of each round, I'll do a bit
- 26:11of a blueberry side a check in to see how far see how far gone
- 26:14you are on the blueberries sideer, it's will see. I'm just gonna be
- 26:19asleep on the desk story like Ron Swanson at the snake just over, or
- 26:30just like starting out like Jerry. I forgot about just laughing in the camera.
- 26:37That's a good it's good that we forgot about Jerry. If it's the
- 26:41bit, yeah, and if in the throughout throughout the course of this recording,
- 26:45if you could grow a Eagleton Ron style mustache or that would be fantastic.
- 26:49I know you're capable of facial head growth at that speed, so yes,
- 26:56this please're trying to do it now. I thought he was taking a
- 27:04shu one one or the other may have happened, and he doesn't have a
- 27:15mustache. And finally, well, we'll do a blueberry wine check in pretty
- 27:29soon. And finally, Ultra what's inspiring you from Parks and Wreck. I
- 27:34guess it will technically boil down to yet another character, but long long time
- 27:41episode three of the Last of Us. We have done a Last of Us
- 27:45episode, yes, the last one, but episode three had not dropped yet.
- 27:51Nick Offerman is one of them leads in that episode, one of the
- 27:55most beautiful episodes of television I have ever seen. Yea with my eyes.
- 28:00Yeah, I cried. That's a thing that is a hurdle for me.
- 28:07I cried and was smiling by the end, which films haven't done that for
- 28:11me so but he was absolutely beautiful, almost a bottle episode within the Last
- 28:19of Us universe with both Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett from um Well, He's
- 28:26from a lot of other things, but White Lotus is the main thing that
- 28:29people will know him as the hotel manager. God hell, yeah, I
- 28:33didn't know it was. I'm very excited for this beautiful story in a hellscape
- 28:37apocalypse. Just the range of Nick Offerman as well, like yeah, Okay,
- 28:42we see similar things between Ron Swanson and his character in terms of the
- 28:45pragmatic abilities, but a very different character and shows a good amount of range.
- 28:51Essentially, he plays a survivalist who's on his own and then somebody else
- 28:55comes into his life, and the growth you can see it was just beautiful.
- 28:59I think that comedy actors have such a skill set for playing really dramatic
- 29:03roles because you if you act well enough, you don't actually have to feel
- 29:07something in drama, Like if you're doing like only dramatic acting, if you're
- 29:11a good enough actor, you don't really have to have a soul um.
- 29:14But if you're doing comedy, it's kind of a prerequisite to have at least
- 29:18some kind of a soul to do it proficiently and to like tug it someone's
- 29:22heartstrings with comedy um And so Nick Offerman man, no I care. I
- 29:30just yeah, I have seen so much fan art and so not, like,
- 29:37not only is it just good TV for now, but there's like a
- 29:41part of me that's like that tumbler fan girl, that era of me is,
- 29:49yes, the strawberries, just eating them, that's a that's a fanta
- 30:00pastic muse. Nick, Yeah, Nick Hofferman, great actor, was fantastic
- 30:03in Parks and rec and now is doing better than movie star Chris Prets.
- 30:07That feels feels right. Okay, those are some beautiful muses. I'm feeling
- 30:12inspiration in the room. You all look very inspired, So I think it's
- 30:17time we quiz. Should we do this? Let's play some games? Absolutely?
- 30:21Yay, right, teams, Let's swing by Ron's office to see if
- 30:23he wants to join it in on the lighthearted fun that is Round one.
- 30:27He probably doesn't. Some classic trivia to start off with. Don't want to
- 30:37scare away any new listeners. At the start of this season, Round one
- 30:41is called breaking the Story. I will offer our teams a subplot from an
- 30:44episode of Parks and Wreck. As a pair, they must decide if this
- 30:48subplot actually happened or if I made it up seven years ago when I first
- 30:52predicted i'd one day host a pop culture panel game, dreams do come true.
- 31:00Okay, let's begin with the soldier boy tell him so, I'm gonna
- 31:03have fun with the team names tonight. Here is your first synopsis. Leslie
- 31:08finds strength in a painting that Jerry contributes to a community art show, Yes,
- 31:14which depicts as a powerful and bare chested Greek goddess. Yes, yeah,
- 31:21yeah, that's uhs I could, I could, uh, I almost
- 31:26think I know. Yet I'm only going to get pandantic. That is she
- 31:29an goddess or she just a regular centaur? Or is she Artemis goddess of
- 31:32the Hunt? She's not. She's not Artemis. Um oh, this is
- 31:36just the goddess of the Hunt. See, yeah, some something like that.
- 31:38Yeah, Tommy Fresh is a little angel, a little chair and baby.
- 31:47Yeah, that's definitely a subplot. That's a great episode. Yeah,
- 31:52yeah, definitely true. Off to a great start. That is correct,
- 31:56That is real. That is a point. It's Dianysus, right, is
- 32:00the Yeah, all right, yeah, I'm pretty sure it's something like that.
- 32:07Diana, Oh, Diana Demeter, Dianysus. Is I think alcohol?
- 32:14Yeah, I think Bacchus. Chris is right, but I think it is.
- 32:19I think it's a god because it's Artemis. It's the one they said,
- 32:23yeah, because they definitely didn't say Artemis. Yeah, it didn't point
- 32:27for any of this. We gotta get insist. The Magic's town hall meeting.
- 32:31This is like the one time where I've been on the show where we're
- 32:35all fans of the thing, so yeah, it's gonna yeah, yeah,
- 32:39fuck it, yeah yeah. I'm gonna be the annoying guy with glasses that
- 32:44town hall meetings where I'm like, I'll pull it up the episode right now
- 32:46on my phone, like right now, Um, pretty sure it's actually all
- 32:55right? All right, Chris, let's test that energy at a question for
- 33:00Crazy Order and the Douche. Here is your synopsis. Andy and April go
- 33:06on a road trip to see the most haunted mine in Indiana, and a
- 33:09realization results in a new step for their relationship. I don't think this is
- 33:15real because I think that they went to the Grand Canyon and Andy asked where
- 33:19the face is, So I think that they went on a trip and it
- 33:21had a revelation. I don't think it was too a haunted mine. So
- 33:24I'm gonna say false, and you agree agree same false. It is false.
- 33:30That one's made up. Yes, I can bind the Grand Canyon story
- 33:34and the haunted House story into house, put them together. Yeah, Werner
- 33:37Herzog is in that one. I wanted to be closer to Disneyland pretty much
- 33:47exactly. That's just like why you're in Indiana furthest you can get from both
- 33:55locations at once. I saw him in in Parks and right before I knew
- 34:00him from anything else. Weird like thing to include. Yeah, I'd be
- 34:06like, I don't get these referentes. Why does this guy sound so weird?
- 34:09Who the fuck is he? Um? You have to talk like Werner
- 34:12rehearsal for the rest of the episode. Up, I want to see her
- 34:19baby. Ask me for another question. You give me the question. Absolutely,
- 34:24absolutely his one for Jason and Adam. Chris tries to befriend Run in
- 34:30a game of touch football. This results in Run playing for the opposite team.
- 34:36The first part is a very minor subplot in an episode. But the
- 34:40opposite team. Wait, wait, that's what they play. They that's a
- 34:45subplot. I don't remember that. They they play like football in the parking
- 34:50lot together. They like they're like dicking around and they're playing football together in
- 34:53a parking lot. But like it's not a whole I think I think that's
- 34:58with Andy. What did he say, Joe? Would you? I mean
- 35:04to read the question again. Chris tries to be friend Run. I was
- 35:09to give Chris Pratt. So everything is too many, Chris, it's not
- 35:19real. There's no way, right, Chris. Chris is trying to be
- 35:24friend Ron in a few different ways on a few different occasions, but I
- 35:29don't remember that ever happened. One of my favorite ways that Chris tries to
- 35:31be friend Ron is they meet each other in like a restaurant slash bar situation.
- 35:36Chris Chris just so happens to be there, and he's reading a book
- 35:38about an amputee who swam like the English Chant or something like that, and
- 35:43the title of the book is limit it list in the background. That's nothing
- 35:53to do with the question. It's so fun. This is good. As
- 36:00Chris mentioned, everyone's a fan of this property, so it's gonna be references.
- 36:05It's references on top of references. Yet, no, it's not real,
- 36:09right saying this one's not real? This one did not happen. Yeah,
- 36:14that is correct, It did not happen. Definitely playing with different realities
- 36:19there, but yeah, this particular one did not happen. Let's move back
- 36:22on over to Crazy Aldre and the Douche. Andy prepares for his final Women's
- 36:27studies exam and both Ron and Chris take an interest in his professor. Yeah,
- 36:32yeah, yeah, that happens. Yeah, because he thought it was
- 36:37going to be like a sexy class, but it wasn't. Yeah. Yeah,
- 36:42he takes the class and then and then they all go out to dinner
- 36:45afterwards, and Chris invites himself to the table and thinks he gets along really
- 36:51well with the teacher, and then fucking he gets denied and then Ron swoops
- 36:58in like he to is. Yeah, he doesn't even try. He's just
- 37:01he doesn't. He doesn't try. It doesn't need to, doesn't need Yeah,
- 37:07all right, that's real. So he's saying, that's real, that
- 37:08feels real, that is real. Of course that's real. It's from season
- 37:13four. Chris just watched it. Actually, I think that's the episode that
- 37:16you were talking about where Chris was at a bar. Yeah, and they
- 37:20he's got the but limitless in his hands. References. We can't just I'm
- 37:29okay, it's just it just happened. Okay, this is you know,
- 37:34okay, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, all right,
- 37:37all right, have some more questions, okay, soldier boy, tell hims
- 37:43he's your next synopsis. In order to protect the oldest tree in Pawnee from
- 37:47being uprooted, Leslie and Ben tie themselves to the oak, but don't receive
- 37:52the support they expected. Adam does Ben time himself too? Is or just
- 37:59Leslie? It's it's Leslie in April, I thought, See, the only
- 38:05situation like this that I remember is uh, Leslie, Like, doesn't she
- 38:09like chain herself up to the gate of this place to prevent the from being
- 38:15torn down? And then they just opened the gate the gate, like,
- 38:19oh you're I think you're absolutely right. That's that's the only that's the only
- 38:23one that I can remember. Yeah, this feels this feels like a mishmash
- 38:29up. My gutstets false on this. It's a mishmash up. And then
- 38:30also Ben would never strap himself to anything, except if it's a nerd thing,
- 38:35you know, like he strapped himself to the iron throne or some bullshit.
- 38:38Yeah, right, right right, Yeah, so we're saying saying false,
- 38:44it is false. Yes, the lie. That definitely a mish mismash,
- 38:50mish mish mishmash. She's definitely a mishmash of pluck. I'm very least
- 38:57tonight everyone. Yeah, yeah, every now and then you make fun of
- 38:59me when I say things and I sound like Sean Connery. But that was
- 39:02Yeah, that was the most Sean Connery we've ever seen. Yeah, okay,
- 39:08this is what our podcast is going to devolve into. It's just us
- 39:12making voices and Sean Connery the frog. Those are our two. We have
- 39:17a revolving door of Sean Connery, Kermit and Werner. Apparently no Uldra work
- 39:22on your impressions. Actually, thank you very much. Okay, back on
- 39:30over to Crazy Udra and the Douche. Here is your next synopsis. Mayor
- 39:36Walter Gunderson dies. There is a memorial service, and Ben conducts a search
- 39:40for an interim mayor with April's assistance. I I don't remember this. I
- 39:47have no memory of this place. If if it's anything, then it's like
- 39:52a it's a subplot. Yeah I remember. I know that Jerry, potentially
- 39:58Gary, potentially Mary at the time is the one that becomes mayor, but
- 40:02I don't recall them, like looking for one because this is like last season.
- 40:10Do we want to go with false? If it's the wrong, we
- 40:14do have to break the seal. Someone has to break the seal. I
- 40:19just don't remember this occurring. I don't either. I don't, so okay,
- 40:23saying false, I think that's our best bet. I think so,
- 40:29okay, I'm saying false. This one is actually true. Adam. Did
- 40:34you know that in the final season we knew that. Yeah, you knew
- 40:37it. I'm not going to give you a point because I don't really need
- 40:42the point. I just want Chris to know that in this moment, some
- 40:47of the potential candidates for memory include like um um John Ralphiel's dad because he's
- 40:53just an older, rich guy. I think Jeremy J. DoD They like
- 40:59bring people in and interview them. I don't remember that. Yeah, I
- 41:02think so, and they're all like done, and so they and then so
- 41:06Ben Wyatt goes. I can't believe I'm saying this. But Jerry, Terry,
- 41:09Larry, do you want to be mayor? Or yeah, it's Bill
- 41:13Murray is the it plays the man who dies right? Yeah, yeah in
- 41:17the future. I will say. The only thing that made me doubt our
- 41:21answer is to look on Adam's face like he had something like like he had
- 41:27one like he's got a sneaky fart or something. I have a terrible poker
- 41:32face, because I was like, oh, yep, yep, there it
- 41:37is Bill Murray. Damn it, Adam, you pieces shit you do out
- 41:45of getting that point, Uh, Commissioner, that's a point for us.
- 41:50I mean your head, dude, in your head, Adam's cheating. I
- 41:57don't see any foul play anyway, but I do, but I do see
- 42:04one final question for each team, one final synopsis. Back on over to
- 42:08the Soldier Boy, Tell Hims, is it ever gonna not be funny?
- 42:15While taking care of the new community garden, Leslie and Tom are shocked to
- 42:21discover that someone has planted marijuana amongst the other plants. So she's like,
- 42:27what's that? And he's like, I think it might be best if you
- 42:29roll that up and smokey. I mean, of course, the Soldier Boy
- 42:37tell Hims, have this one a lock that's gonna be true. I also
- 42:40love your Tom impression, so like it was, it was a confident return.
- 42:47It true, is locked in, and it is true. This this
- 42:51did happen. This is a this is a real story. That's some bullshit
- 42:53that they got. I'm just gonna say, that's fucking bullshit, dude.
- 43:00I think that was equally as easy as the women's studies exam one probably probably
- 43:05about was prominent. Um, I don't know, listeners, do you feel
- 43:10Chris, the guest player is correct or the game's master. You write in
- 43:15and tell us rally against power listeners. Yes, Mac is the man,
- 43:22not me from Eagleton. Yeah, okay, final synopsis for Crazy Oldre and
- 43:28the Douche Mark. That's right, Mark. Mark must prepare the Pawny Summer
- 43:32events calendar as he tries to avoid Anne by escaping his recent breakup inside Ron's
- 43:38office. No, I don't think that happens. Who the fuck is Mark?
- 43:45Mark was the He was supposed to be the gym of parks and rec
- 43:51but he wasn't cute more talented enough. Sorry, Mark, I do say
- 44:00you one more time. Absolutely, Mark must prepare the Pawny Summer events calendar
- 44:06as he tries to avoid Anne by escaping his recent breakup inside Roun's office.
- 44:12I think someone tries to escape a breakup in the office. But I wasn't
- 44:15Mark the city planner in the sense of like the road you would hit.
- 44:20Yeah, was like an engineer for the city planner. Yeah. Yeah,
- 44:23so I don't It doesn't make sense that he would be doing that. I
- 44:27think, Yeah, I think it might be Andy who hidden his office.
- 44:29I'm gonna say false if my teammate agrees. Yeah, I agree with that.
- 44:35Yeah, you've you've got it spot on. It is a mashup of
- 44:37those exact storylines and yeah, totally false. I started that with who the
- 44:43fuck is? And that is the correct sentiment I came around. Yeah,
- 44:50something forgot too is h Mark was a love interest of Leslie? Nope?
- 44:54Yeah, Louis c k and Justin Thureau were also love interests of Leslie.
- 45:00Big names, come get them. And I think it was either Crazy Ira
- 45:05or the Douche was her boyfriend at the time. I can't remember who was
- 45:07who Polar's partner at the time. And wait, Amy Poehler was dating Nick
- 45:16Crole. Yeaheah that that kind of blew my mind to after she was married
- 45:22to well Otti Parks and as another another lot of interest. Yeah there he
- 45:30goes. Oh, so you just come in, get your MRI and leave
- 45:37absolutely exposing that this show is entirely referenced humor. By the way, it
- 45:42got awesome. It is one hundred percent reference humor, and everyone should watch
- 45:46it so they get original content. Here. We're not coasting of other people.
- 45:51So you're listening to this and you haven't watched Parks and rec Brave,
- 45:59We exactly Okay, that's the end of round one. As the numbers guy
- 46:04will be asking Ben Wyatt to do all of the mats for us today.
- 46:07I promised him free calzone in return, so it's covered. Okay, please
- 46:13please the correct pronunciation. Indeed, the scars that I'm just going to ignore
- 46:19that and to breathe the scars. The scars are crazy older and the douche
- 46:22You're on three points, but the soldier boy tell thems are in the lead
- 46:25with four points. Yeah, rigged. Okay, hang on, let me
- 46:32be purred happily for this. This transition up next is my transition into round
- 46:39two. But before the round happens, we need to cut to commercial and
- 46:44the story of how I feel about that boring but necessary. We'll see you
- 46:49in round two. Round two is called character Assassination. In this game,
- 47:00our players will have to identify famous faces and places from the world of Parks
- 47:04and Wreck. I've sent our players a message. That message contains a character,
- 47:09a location, and something that they are trying to do. They will
- 47:14then have sixty seconds to interact with their partner. A sort of blank canvas
- 47:17in the conversation is the role of the partner without saying any of the words
- 47:22in their message. Our players must try and communicate who they are, where
- 47:27they are, and why they are to their partner. You don't have to
- 47:30try and sound like them with an impression, but it is allowed if you
- 47:34want to do that. You can say whatever you want as long as it's
- 47:37not any of the words in it. So you can be lateral about it
- 47:38if you'd like, and if your partner asks quick questions, then they can
- 47:43try and help you along the way. Just don't say any of the words
- 47:45in the message, otherwise I will deduct points. Yeah, and that's it.
- 47:50Maximum of three points per pass any questions. What's this location? I
- 47:55have no idea what this is. Ah, that's a you problem. Now,
- 48:01God, I thought you watched season three in season four of just just
- 48:06in the last week. Maybe go as as possible word by word. That's
- 48:14fine. Look, it's three points available per question. If you get one
- 48:17or two out of the three, you're doing good. So sorry for being
- 48:21so brutal back, Chris um Okay, I get it. You're the game
- 48:27master. I am the game master. That's absolutely true. So we will
- 48:30begin. We will begin with Jason for Adam. So we are starting with
- 48:36the soldier boy talents, and I'm doing one scenario at a time, right,
- 48:38yes, just one at a time, Just one at a time,
- 48:40all right? You ready atam? Your sixty second starts now, mustachied man
- 48:46sponsor. Yes, yeah, at a breakfast place, Oh, JJ's,
- 48:52that's JJ's easy. Yes. Uh, once to send back in entree of
- 49:06tiny trees, just phrase that differently, an entree of tiny trees? Is
- 49:20this Ron Swanston returning a salad at JJ's diner? Close twenty seconds? Uh?
- 49:28Uh? Food group containing potatoes, bruccoli, asparagus, food pyramid,
- 49:37adam, Oh, just vegetables in general? Is it? He just he
- 49:42just that's that's your time, that's within that interaction. You have said all
- 49:47three because Jason was, in fact Ron Swanson at JJ's diner trying to return
- 49:52a plate of vegetables. So yeah, it's gonna be three points right there.
- 49:55There we go. But you didn't opt for the you didn't for the
- 50:00role play. You didn't try and get into the body because it's just I
- 50:04want to win, Okay. I had a revolver before our recording, and
- 50:09I'm sipping on a sider now I will be rping. Okay, Europe next
- 50:15for Chris. So it's gonna be Audre for Chris and your sixty seconds thoughts.
- 50:21Now, okay, everybody, if you will join me in the conference
- 50:23room, we are going to start the meeting to plan the biggest event of
- 50:30the fall. Okay, everybody's in here. Tom Donna, thank you all
- 50:34for being in here. Who bucked little Sebastian. I know we didn't have
- 50:39him at the spring event, but we do need him at the fall event.
- 50:45Okay. Um Sweetems is sponsoring this year, but that's neither here nor
- 50:52there. We will have plenty of other options. We've got waffles. God,
- 50:55I love a waffle. Chris so Leslie Nope in the parks and so
- 51:02so Leslie Nope in the parks and wreck office. Uh asking everyone to organize
- 51:09the harvest best Yes, fun didn't all three of those things right now?
- 51:16Giving me shit? Jason, I was processing. You don't want to interrupt
- 51:22me. I was letting her do her thing. Okay, Okay, I
- 51:27didn't understand. Now I understand the game. You Yeah, you can do
- 51:34it either way. There's some of these. The next one I might have
- 51:37to go a little bit. Okay, I get it now. Okay,
- 51:42let's let's head on back over to the soldier boy Salams this time Adam for
- 51:46Jason. You ready, Adam, I believe so sixty second stots now,
- 51:52Okay, so I know what you're thinking. Technically, yes, my heart
- 51:58did stop four about eight seconds or so. But what you don't understand is
- 52:02that I have a resting heart rate of eight beats per minute. So while
- 52:06it looks like I might have gone into cardiac arrest, I can assure you
- 52:09I'm perfectly healthy. I talk to my therapist eighteen times a day and he
- 52:14assures me that the amount of running I do is completely fine. So I
- 52:17really don't need to be here much longer. M Granted, I know it
- 52:22technically was a heart attack, and I was dead for I guess maybe like
- 52:24a minute. But again, um, I eat my grains in the hospital
- 52:30trying to get out of a heart out of his hospital bed because he had
- 52:34a heart attack. I think I'll give you that. Yeah, that is
- 52:36it's those three things exactly again. Ten seconds show the full time. You
- 52:39guys are killing this. This is awesome, Yeah, Chris Drake Saint Joseph's
- 52:45Hospital, But it's the hospital They barely ever mentioned that trying to get discharged.
- 52:47So yeah, trying to get discharge. Yeah, yeah, we see
- 52:52the doctor every now and then. I don't think they ever almost mentioned that
- 52:57the hospital name. Some of my favorite gags include, Jerry had a fart
- 53:00attack. I'm gonna be honest, I strive to be. Jerry should have
- 53:13been my muse if Nick Offerman didn't have a real like, if he didn't
- 53:15just give an Emmy award winning yea like amazing, the fact that he goes
- 53:21to work, he leaves, No one knows anything about him. If he
- 53:23has an amazing life, he has life burdened by the worries, one of
- 53:29the largest penises that doctor has ever seen, the biggest penis, the hottest
- 53:35wife, the most loving family, the fewest care. Yeah, Jerry or
- 53:40Garry o'billy or whatever. It's funny. I had I thought about I probably
- 53:45would have picked him as a muse as well. But I simply forgot about
- 53:49him. That's how I want to be in my workplace. Yeah that's admirable
- 53:57too. I think, like, like the part that I always saw in
- 54:00Jerry is now when I strive to be. Yet there's a woman I don't
- 54:07want to break the glass ceiling I want to break the class floor, just
- 54:10descend into mediocrity and forgettableness. Okay, we got we got one final combination
- 54:19to do at this pass of the game. It's Chris for Audra. Are
- 54:22you ready, Chris, I'm so ready. Okay, then your time starts
- 54:29now. Hi. I hate everybody, and I'm Ron Swanson's assistant and I'm
- 54:36married to Andy Dwyer. I'm going down to a Irish named road hole uh,
- 54:49a whole similar to the thing that Andy fell into. Okay, um,
- 54:52and I am requesting funding to to pay treatment for site impaired feelines.
- 55:06Oh shit, April Ludgate attempting to get a grant. But the pit,
- 55:10the pit? What's the grant for for uh? Animals? Blind cat?
- 55:16Yes? Yeah, I think you've said all three things. I think you
- 55:20called the time. It's the pit. The pit is the location, the
- 55:22Sullivan Street pit, Sullivan Street. But I didn't know that there is like
- 55:28a full name for it. Yeah, Oh my god, I didn't either.
- 55:31The whole thing feeling I don't agree. I didn't know it was I
- 55:40didn't know there was a name for it. Oh my god, it's just
- 55:45always the pit. You got it, You got it though. All right,
- 55:52we're having so much fun here, I'm gonna I'm gonna request another pass
- 55:54at this, send you guys a message with more names, more locations.
- 55:59This time. Let's crank coop that difficulty a little bit. Let's let's make
- 56:01this a little trickier. Okay, so we are back around to Jason for
- 56:07Adam. Back to the top. Potential three points still available. But don't
- 56:10worry. It's a little it's a little tough. It's a little tough.
- 56:13Your time, stots. Now, hey, everyone, boy, this is
- 56:16real fun. I'm having real fun time hanging out with all you guys.
- 56:21You're doing real swell over there, gang. I'm over here my dad's company,
- 56:25and I just want to make sure that I can get enough money,
- 56:28because it'd be a real sweet idea, be a real swell gang, if
- 56:30I could just get like a creak of hot coke or running through that You
- 56:35guys know that one movie. Oh man, that movie was real fun.
- 56:38Oh I wish I could. I wish that guy was right next to it
- 56:43is Okay, yeah, yeah, I spent a whole time time to remember
- 56:47his name. Okay, so you got twenty seconds? Oh god, Okay,
- 56:52So at dad's company. H yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, and
- 56:59want money for hot Cocoa Creek one movie with the orange guys that are real
- 57:07swell, can we get that way walk chocolate the river style candy. Oh
- 57:14my god, it's beautiful, spun spun. Yeah. Jason was, indeed
- 57:20Bobby Newport at Sweetems, trying to raise funds for a Willy one Castyle chocolate
- 57:23river on his property. Yes, good, I'm just like my mom.
- 57:28I just kept saying, Paul rod Paul Rode struggle another great minor character.
- 57:35Damn yeah, yeah, yeah baby, let's just keep doing this the rest
- 57:47of the show. We got the microphones. No, no, no,
- 57:52no, say it like this, Bobby, We all got one in It's
- 57:58all. Yeah, that's all. I'm perfect. It's a soundscape. It's
- 58:00fantastic. Okay. Also was the idea that I said hot cocoa creek?
- 58:05Could you guys laugh? I was like, how are you? I thought
- 58:07of it? Of like what, you're gonna have good synonyms for here cocoa
- 58:12creek? That fits? Okay. Back, I wouldn't be a good eagle
- 58:17Tonian if I didn't point out that he said sweet, just saying, oh
- 58:22fuck you say sweet and I thought about it, and I did think,
- 58:25but the full name of the company is Sweets, and also used it in
- 58:30the context of not trying to explain the thing. Yeah, yeah, that's
- 58:42hey, I'm sorry. I want to have a fair game. I'll be
- 58:49just as lenient slash not lenient on your next pass, which is for Chris.
- 58:54Are you ready, Uldra, Yeah, let's do this. Your time
- 58:59starts now. I can't commit to the voice left Ron Swanson's second wife and
- 59:15partying at the club, yes, and attempting to get people to dance behind
- 59:24her, but in like the form of a lounge with with leading a congoline.
- 59:36Yeah, drinking so much she doesn't remember it the next morning, and
- 59:40and blacking out on snake juice. That's I just want to person our request.
- 59:47That's gonna stay in the episode or not. Next time we all get
- 59:50together, Matt, draft some of these for us, please, and we're
- 59:52gonna play for Ray. Yeah, she's gonna make for a podcast listeners.
- 1:00:04But it was so funny. I did dance a single person conga, but
- 1:00:07I was trying to be at the whole congo line my body. Folks,
- 1:00:15if you needed another reason to get them to become a you got it right
- 1:00:20here. What a cell you got. You gotta see Adre doing this.
- 1:00:25You gotta see the Shannigans this. We're all three for three. You've knocked
- 1:00:30this out the park. Yeah. Two left, we'll move on to Adam
- 1:00:35for Jason. Now let's see if we can keep the street going. Are
- 1:00:38you ready, Adam? I believe so? Okay, your time stots now,
- 1:00:44all right, tee, he's afresh. He is the deal, all
- 1:00:45right. Entertainment seven twenty all right, they're running it. Okay, So
- 1:00:50I know the grand openings coming up. Here's what we do. Doors open,
- 1:00:53everybody smells the food and then they hear it. Bounce bounce, bounce,
- 1:00:57bounce going okay, and I'm in the back. I've got the camera
- 1:01:02on. I'm working it like a remote control, like a little RC car,
- 1:01:06and it's flying through the place, over over the plates of food,
- 1:01:09over all of it. It's going through oh, all over it. Okay,
- 1:01:15yeah, fucking oh god, Uh what's this goddamn name? I just
- 1:01:20said it too? Oh god, m John Raphael is going to uh do
- 1:01:25a drone video for Tom's Bistro. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:01:32that spot on Tom's. It's your Tomas bistro flying a drone through it,
- 1:01:37and it's John Ralphiel sapastin spot on. I didn't want to have to do
- 1:01:39the same thing, So I'm really glad that you whatever you guys are the
- 1:01:49fucking, fucking train wreck. This is awesome, fantastic. Okay, well,
- 1:01:57we've got one mall left to do. We've Chris for Auldra. Are
- 1:02:01you ready, Chris, I I think I'm ready. Okay, sixty seconds
- 1:02:07begin now. Hello there, um I my name is redacted because that is
- 1:02:14the type of game that we're playing today. I am at. I am
- 1:02:19at a location. Um that was a business owned by Tom Haverford and uh
- 1:02:25John Ralphao that no longer exists. Um, they went under Uh uh it
- 1:02:35was more for it was a conglomerate where they hired professional basketball players. Yes,
- 1:02:43uh and uh right now, I am talking without a thing, without
- 1:02:51a stick to talk in, or without people with cameras that I'm typically with.
- 1:03:00I'm so sorry. Five seconds tured crapply, Okay, Okay, that's
- 1:03:08that's the time, Ultra, the character the character is is put happily.
- 1:03:12Yeah. Location UM Entertainment seven twenties and what is doing that? Um?
- 1:03:21Interviewing, being present partying. I still didn't think you were that close,
- 1:03:25and it was doing a report on startups as well. Was a was a
- 1:03:29thing. Oh, I forgot about that part, sorry, team captain.
- 1:03:37No, I'm so sorry. I could have bluffed better. I could have
- 1:03:42filled in the pla. I fully, I fully forgot about the middle part.
- 1:03:47I was so focused on the without a film crew, my microphone classic
- 1:03:53put happily enjoyed. I enjoyed the name redacted things as you realized, it's
- 1:04:00just a shadow, a joke, we said before. I am so I
- 1:04:05should have known that. I was like, who, I know this,
- 1:04:08I know this, I know this. Thank you, I appreciate it.
- 1:04:12The training wheels were needed for me. Okay, that is the end of
- 1:04:16the round. Let's ask Ben to once again calculate the scores. Well,
- 1:04:20he'd rather calculator. It's a great punt, a right exactly exactly, and
- 1:04:29the accounting results are crazy. Oldra and the Douche are on fourteen points,
- 1:04:33but the Soldier boy Tell Hims are in the lead with sixteen points. Shit
- 1:04:39stending that set fart noise. Next up is round three, but first it's
- 1:04:48time for some ads, because how are we supposed to treat ourselves without a
- 1:04:53whole thirteen cents worth of ad revenue. Okay. Rounds three is called rabbit
- 1:05:05Hole. I've been down at Parks and Wreck Wikipedia rabbit Hole these last couple
- 1:05:10of weeks, and I've made a round of trivia questions about some of the
- 1:05:15interesting things I've found. It's very simple. In turns. I will ask
- 1:05:18our teams a Parks and Wreck related question, they will answer that question,
- 1:05:23points will be scored, and then we can all go home and move on
- 1:05:26with our lives. Yeah, yeah, yeah, cool, all right,
- 1:05:30Okay, the soldier boy tell hims here is your first question. What is
- 1:05:34the name of April Ludgate's aristocratic alter ego? Is it Janet Snakehole or Jeanette
- 1:05:41Urethra Nope, No, yeah, yeah, that's that's a point because yeah,
- 1:05:51we know stuff the lover of Adolph Hitler or something like that, I
- 1:05:55believe. So the first time Hitler's been mentioned on this park Us. Maybe
- 1:06:00maybe it might be another episode where Chris has showed up too. I'm not
- 1:06:08gonna why it was that complete confidence. Yeah, Okay, moving on over
- 1:06:18to crazy order in the douche. What type of animal is little Sebastian.
- 1:06:24Is he a mini horse or just a massive dog? He's a little horse.
- 1:06:31Yeah, yeah, minute, your horse gets see this is easy this
- 1:06:34round. Isn't it so easy? I feel like I'm being lied to?
- 1:06:40Yeah? This is get hotter. And they as they boil the frog,
- 1:06:45and the frog is us. We're the frog. Oh god, you are
- 1:06:48the frogs? Right now? Okay, soldier boy, tell hims. What
- 1:06:55is the name of the German American basketball player who appears in three episodisodes of
- 1:07:00Parks and Wreck. Uh death left shrimp? Yes? Is it? Yeah,
- 1:07:08it's got it's death left right. Are you sure? Are you sure
- 1:07:11it's not death left shrimp? Isn't that what I said? Oh? Did
- 1:07:15you not say the correct answer, which is death left shrimp? Shrimp?
- 1:07:18Or is it? Or? Is it? Is it? Death? Met
- 1:07:21shep? Is it? Is it? Doctor Shep? I know it's death
- 1:07:27left shamp. I know they put him on the shrimp wall because his name
- 1:07:30sounds like shrimp. Because up. Yeah, yeah, I'll give you a
- 1:07:34point for that. It's fine, you got it, You got it?
- 1:07:35Okay, Yeah, moving on, moving on over to the other team.
- 1:07:41Those dated references so funny. Next question, Duke Silver released three full length
- 1:07:51albums, Oh my god, name one of them? No way? Oh
- 1:07:58god, it's like, is one of them like making Love with Duke or
- 1:08:01something? It's it's not. It's not Midnight with Duke. Um, I'll
- 1:08:11give you the clue of think like a comedy writing team trying to come up
- 1:08:14with puns based on cool I was, so this really makes me feel like
- 1:08:18shit? Yeah, um, oh, I have a guess, but obviously
- 1:08:28it's I don't know. I just think it's gonna be because all of his
- 1:08:30fans are like so sexual. I do think it is gonna be, like
- 1:08:34uh, I do think Moonlight and making Love are not too far off.
- 1:08:41Yeah, yeah, there, it's definitely sexual innuendo with Duke's name. Yeah,
- 1:08:46Duke me down. That's a good guess, but it's it's not right.
- 1:08:51I'm gonna I'm gonna reveal the three answers now, the three albums as
- 1:08:57Smooth as Silva High, Duke's very Funny to Me and Memories of Now that's
- 1:09:03where we were getting the ms from. Yeah, ridiculously hard. Well let's
- 1:09:10yeah, I said his name wrong, but yeah, let's I'll have an
- 1:09:17equally hard question for you guys, right now, all right? Gary Gary
- 1:09:24Jerry slash Gary slash Larry slash Terry slash. Barry has three daughters, the
- 1:09:29famous one being Millicent. Yea name one of the other two? Tilly?
- 1:09:35No, isn't it Milly and Tilly? Um? Sure, one of them?
- 1:09:44I mean um um and I have nothing in the CHRISTI Briley. No,
- 1:09:59that's not Lillie. Milicent. No, I'm gonna call it. I
- 1:10:06think I'm looking for either Miriam. Oh, Gladys. Gladys No, Yeah,
- 1:10:13that was not up there. It wasn't like oh man, I tried
- 1:10:17with Mabel. Yeah, close to that, but still not enough For a
- 1:10:21point. I didn't even know. I didn't even know they had names.
- 1:10:25Yeah, don't they were just Jerry's kids. Yeah. Back over to Crazy
- 1:10:31Ordre and the Douche. What is the name of the only professional wrestling faction
- 1:10:38to ever appear on Parks and Wreck? I didn't even know this was the
- 1:10:43thing? Fucking what? Yeah? I should know this? Should you like
- 1:10:51something to kick? I don't think so. Professional wrestling factions a chance to
- 1:10:59catch up as well professional wrestling is it? Would it be like nWo,
- 1:11:06just like one of the biggest ones. It's a good good guests to faction
- 1:11:12Blue World Order. No, I do. Now, let's go. We'll
- 1:11:18go with one of the Biggins. Well, we can go with nWo because
- 1:11:21I can't think of any hold on, we're taking shoot? Are we talking?
- 1:11:25Shoot? Are we talking? KFE? Brother? Are these real?
- 1:11:30These real factions? KFE fuck yeah? KFE dub dub is a thing that
- 1:11:36I'm there's one this like kind of hillbilly extreme and that feels right. No,
- 1:11:42but I can't remember the Dudley's. He's saying the Dudleys. I don't
- 1:11:47know. I'm so sorry. The answer I was looking with no idea.
- 1:11:50The answer I was looking for based on Ben and Leslie's wedding is the Wyatt
- 1:11:55family. I was looking for the Wyatt family ship. Oh is that a
- 1:12:01real wrestling based on the fake Ben Wyatt's family ship? Bush listeners it,
- 1:12:15Matt, there has never been violence in my hat. Let's we're going to
- 1:12:23crack up the speed. Let's keep going back and forth, you soldier boy,
- 1:12:27tell him. Pawny has two major international businesses. One is sweet UM's
- 1:12:31and the other is Kernstan's Nipple Factory's Rubber Nipple Factory. Yeah, very good
- 1:12:39spot on but keep your hands to yourself, young man. I was hoping
- 1:12:41you'd say, rubber nipples. Just write the copy anyway. I will give
- 1:12:48you the point I will give you. Yeah, that was a pretty easy
- 1:12:51one. Good copy, don't waste it. Yeah, okay, rubbed her
- 1:12:58nipples because that same line of like rubbery exactly? The hell up? Man?
- 1:13:08Well, crazy Ultra in the douche. Here's here's another one for your
- 1:13:10team. One of Leslie's early boyfriends is a police officer called Dave. He's
- 1:13:15played by Louis c k. So what are your thoughts on that whole situation?
- 1:13:20Okay, cancel culture? Okay, it's ridiculous that someone can get canceled.
- 1:13:29And also wait, oh wait he wanted to sell last year. Oh
- 1:13:31he won the Madison Square Garden. Yeah, i'll give you a point.
- 1:13:38I'm sorry culture has to shoot ropes. Okay, yeah, I'll give you
- 1:13:45a point for that. I'm happy with that answer. Okay, back over
- 1:13:48to the others. I'd just like to say I don't actually believe any of
- 1:13:53those things. No, we knew you'd being sarcastic. It was okay,
- 1:13:56cool, cool, cool, we got yea we wanted to. I won't
- 1:14:00edit it out of context. Wow, Chris said these things. Soldier boy,
- 1:14:08tell hims who plays the role of Chris Traeger? That is correct and
- 1:14:13crazy? Order and the douche who plays the role of Chris Traeger when Chris
- 1:14:16burglarizes someone's home while smoking a joint? Is that still rock? Oh?
- 1:14:27Hey, hey, Adam, Hey Adam, shut the fuck up. Okay,
- 1:14:30how about that the benefit. I'll give you a benefit. I'll give
- 1:14:35you the benefit of a second read. Their previous answer was rob low,
- 1:14:42and then your question was who plays the role of Chris Traeger when Chris burglarizes
- 1:14:47someone's home while smoking a joint. I'm assuming that it's going to be like
- 1:14:58it's going to be a play on high and robbery. But that doesn't mean
- 1:15:02that I am here rob high. There's a point. Oh stupid as shit.
- 1:15:12Oh my god, I'm not gonna I know. That's ridiculous. I
- 1:15:17would like declare that up until this moment, there has not been violence in
- 1:15:24my house. I'll tell you what. Okay, get an extra point.
- 1:15:29Yeah, I won't do an extra point, but I'll do an extra question
- 1:15:31for a chance and an extra point, So you get an extra question in
- 1:15:35this round. Okay, In parks and wreck? What is wreck short for
- 1:15:42recreation? I'm so sorry. It's rectangles because most city parks are in the
- 1:15:47shape of a rectangle. It's really quite simple. This round is very simple,
- 1:15:53and that's the round. Ye that's too easy, So that means it's
- 1:15:59time. I'm for the scores. I pissed everyone off. We Hey,
- 1:16:02everybody sent send pictures of your penises at to Matt. He's he's a nurse,
- 1:16:10he was a nurse, and he can tell you if you have any
- 1:16:15problems. That will also raised the biggest penis. Yeah, that will cost
- 1:16:20twenty bucks a pop. That gets to game sitting there to me, what
- 1:16:28you're gonna pay twenty bucks? Okay, that's the end of the rounds.
- 1:16:31That means it's time for the scores. We've got the numbers, but we've
- 1:16:35forgotten the essence of the game. I think you've forgotten the essence. The
- 1:16:42essence is that it's about the cones. So crazy Uldra and the Douche are
- 1:16:49on seventeen cones, but the soldier boy tell Hims are on twenty cones.
- 1:16:57Sending that lead a little bit further. I just love that game too,
- 1:17:00because as someone who plays like tabletop. We all play tabletop games here.
- 1:17:03There's just too much going on in that game. There's dice, there's multiple
- 1:17:09cones, there's resources hexagons, there's a man with a tiny little shovel,
- 1:17:14Like what is that like? And like and then like the uh, like
- 1:17:17the coked up Silicon valley, like tech douche bags, fucking incredible fact like
- 1:17:27the human brain computer was not capable of like visualizing the micro chip without dropping
- 1:17:33LSD. Then being into cones of Dunshire does not surprise me. Yeah.
- 1:17:39Also then half of them looking a lot like us also does not surprise Oh
- 1:17:46yeah, this is grizzled. This is a subsidiary. Okay, So I'm
- 1:17:51sorry about about that round. But there were you're fucking not was equally there
- 1:17:57were equally unfair questions. Then it just happened one team jumped on the unfair
- 1:18:00questions a little better than the other. So I can't help that. Yeah,
- 1:18:04sure, that's what we'll say. Yes, we'll say, I think
- 1:18:10is sticky. Hey, Chris, on a question earlier, you literally said
- 1:18:15heard craply. That's like that episode of the Office when Michael's like it rhymes
- 1:18:18with parmeld Schwartzenegger. Hey, I don't want to hear it out of you.
- 1:18:24It was technically right, so you can suck my dick. Okay,
- 1:18:31our teams are suitably hyped up for who could win. He has three points
- 1:18:35in it. But let's talk whatever. He's dead to me, just this
- 1:18:40side note. But you'll you'll see him in the bond lights are right?
- 1:18:43Yeah, yeah, for sure, I mean yeah probably. Yeah. Like
- 1:18:48we're not We're not playing for nothing here. Let's talk prizes this episode.
- 1:18:53Star Prize is the concept of community. It's important to hold strong to community
- 1:18:58in these trying times. But if it's not on Netflix at the moment,
- 1:19:00you can always just watch Parks and Wreck instead. Yes, but our winning
- 1:19:04team will also receive the hologram phone from the twenty twenty flash forward sequence of
- 1:19:11Parks and Wreck because it's definitely been invented by now we all own one block
- 1:19:15Patreon viewers, look at my hologram phone. It's twenty twenty three. Okay,
- 1:19:20teams. Before we get to the quick fire round, it's time for
- 1:19:24one last set of ads. You can avoid these ads by supporting us on
- 1:19:28Patreon or by living outside of the United States. As it turns out,
- 1:19:31so people out there get ad free gate leapers, but we get gun violence.
- 1:19:36I think we know who the real winners. God you ready for this?
- 1:19:47Yeah? Ready for the final round? I mean fucking probably. Also
- 1:19:53one more plub for the patron. You don't have to, I want to
- 1:19:57make that clear. However, watch the video ver of this because Chris is
- 1:20:00also a master at looking into the camera, and it's been really great to
- 1:20:12watch. Not personally, I want everybody to know that I'm looking into their
- 1:20:15soul's good stuff. It's because I'm on a MacBook and that's just like what
- 1:20:23happens when you're on like nice equipment and stuff, because I'm a do you
- 1:20:28zoom like that? Like for work? Like? No, this is not
- 1:20:31my off, this is Jen's office. Oh you moved yourself into the champions
- 1:20:38office. I see. To give the give the feeling, try to win
- 1:20:41your three three points. Try Our final quick fire round is called Pulks and
- 1:20:46Recreation. As always, a final round will test your why to pop culture
- 1:20:51knowledge. This time how well you know your pop culture pigs? Not pigs
- 1:20:57as in misogynists. This one isn't about Chris Pratt's it's actual pigs. Chief
- 1:21:00Wigham answer, don't stop spoiling them. So in this game, I will
- 1:21:09read out a request given to the parks department that offers clues to a particular
- 1:21:14pop culture pig. All our players have to do is buzz in. You
- 1:21:18can do that by yelling out your team name. Let's do it as a
- 1:21:20practice now again, So I feel like we've got to go sold your boy.
- 1:21:30What Adam and Jason yell out and then the douche. The douche is
- 1:21:35what Chris are gonna do? Yeah, okay, practice that at the same
- 1:21:41time. Now, duly stuff. So all you have to do is buzz
- 1:21:49in and say the name of the famous pig I'm referring to. But this
- 1:21:54game is called Parks and Recreation. So I'm gonna need you to make a
- 1:21:58little piggy noise as you do it, as you say the name of that
- 1:22:00pick. So just give a little snort as you say the answer that there
- 1:22:04you go exactly or that one? What what do Americans think picks? Say?
- 1:22:09Yeah? What what? Pigs don't make that noise. It's because pigs
- 1:22:13are very apologetic, Matt and so so I'm gone, that's the dumbest joker.
- 1:22:29What kind of pigs are you hanging? Out with Jason. Okay,
- 1:22:38I'm going to give you an example before I start the timer, just to
- 1:22:40give you an idea. There's an odd smell in the theater and I need
- 1:22:44it to be perfect from Moir's starring role in the production of The Muppet Show
- 1:22:47later on. Okay, so this would be miss Piggy exactly exactly that.
- 1:22:55That's all you got to do to get the point. You can interrupt me
- 1:22:59by yelling out your team name at any point. Just make sure it's the
- 1:23:02correct pig do you want Do you want us to snort beforehand or try to
- 1:23:08as long as there's a sense now, as as long as there's a snort
- 1:23:14before or after the answer, you're good. Or you can even just say
- 1:23:16the word oink. But I'm wanting to really play up the pig aspect here.
- 1:23:21Parks and recreation guys, remember the word play. Okay, I'm going
- 1:23:26to start the timer now. A good friend of mine got stuck in one
- 1:23:30of the honey trees in the city park. Yeah, that's gonna be either
- 1:23:35Audra or Chris Piglet. Yeah, you did it as a team defect stuff
- 1:23:41that is Piglet type go team. Okay, I'm volunteering to organize your sheep
- 1:23:47can work with dogs or farmers. But that'll do that'll Yeah, it's gonna
- 1:23:53be soldier boy, probably Adam's babe. Yeah, good little pig. Okay,
- 1:24:04I just got spat out of the multiverse and I'm looking for a place,
- 1:24:08boy, I think, I think. Yeah, yeah, Spider Pig,
- 1:24:15I'm not gonna give it to you, um, the amazing spider Pig.
- 1:24:19Boy, it's two spider Ham Yes, spider Hamp Simpson. I'm so
- 1:24:27sorry, two different pigs, yes, sir, Yeah, Spiderhm does not
- 1:24:40do whatever Spider Pig does. Spider Ham. Fun fact, was a spider
- 1:24:44bit by a pig. That's real. That's quite good. Actually, I'm
- 1:24:53requesting a runway for personal reasons because sometimes pigs can fly. Damn it?
- 1:24:59What is from douche Yeah, old dumbbo a dumbo a pig? What the
- 1:25:08fuck? Oh? No, shit? Is what from toy story? It's
- 1:25:15not. I'm so sorry. Any idea, I have no idea. You're
- 1:25:25good. I'm gonna take a stab. Yes, uh, Porco Russo it
- 1:25:30is park Rosso Yes, Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I really
- 1:25:32do. I have a meeting that I had to get to like five minutes
- 1:25:35ago. I I just have one question. Who the fuck are all these
- 1:25:43pig characters? And why do you guys know them? I knew parcar Rosso.
- 1:25:48We put captains on this game, Chris. Let's let's keep testing that
- 1:25:54to pop culture knowledge. Comrade. If you could clear some space in city
- 1:26:00Park so I could speak to my people, that would be great. I'll
- 1:26:02need a podium and stairs as four legs good, two legs better. I'm
- 1:26:08definitely not Stalin Douche. Yeah, yes, Chris, it's the pig from
- 1:26:14Animal Farm. I don't remember his name. Yeah, I'm gonna give you
- 1:26:16it said the pig from Animal Farm. It's Napoleon the Pig. You've got
- 1:26:20it? Yeah, I thought so too. Okay, remember him. It's
- 1:26:25gonna go for the pig from Animal Tell Yeah, I read that book in
- 1:26:29eighth grade. What's up? Okay? Next one. This is a warning
- 1:26:35don't interfere in ours or the bosses plans or heel shred yah. Also,
- 1:26:40you can find some heavy music social boy years. Is it uh bebop and
- 1:26:47or rock Steady? Oh? Fuck you man, I think it's Beebop?
- 1:26:55Is the pig? It is nice? Okay, your next pig. See
- 1:27:01what you've got There is a classic broken vending machine. Take some loose change
- 1:27:05from my slot. Soldier boy. Yeah, Ham, yep, it's Ham,
- 1:27:15good stuff. Next one, I'm in need of assistance. I was
- 1:27:19purchased by a professional wrestler and given a very loving life. And oh yes,
- 1:27:28oh hey, And now here's the problem, as I cannot remember a
- 1:27:30pig's name right now? U given three seconds. Okay, I've been very
- 1:27:35cruel to walk, so I'm going to give you three seconds to answer.
- 1:27:40Yeah, I don't. I don't have it. Oh and pass it over
- 1:27:45Larry Steve. Perfect, It is Larry Steve. The my my cousin had
- 1:27:51a had a pig named Fred, and Fred and Larry like that. That
- 1:27:56space is occupied by Fred and my brain? Yeah pretty yeah? Was it
- 1:28:00also a tiny pig that turned out to be a massive pig as they all
- 1:28:03do? Hello, Yes, I'm an entitled little British pig and I'd like

- 1:30:24I don't if you remember that quote from the finale. I just I tried
- 1:30:27making a reference and it got the least response to this entire episode. In
- 1:30:31the episode, I was just thinking everyone should be friends with my friend emotionally
- 1:30:40pretty good. Man. Just read the whole last episode table table read.
- 1:30:53Oh my god, are we doing this? Oh my god, Oh my
- 1:30:58god, Oh my god, Adam, have you got anything to promote?
- 1:31:02I have in my notes here. You're building a PC, that's something.
- 1:31:05Yeah, I'm I'm attempting. I have all the parts now, and this
- 1:31:11is a scary part because I've bottled the expensive parts of the toy and now
- 1:31:15I have to put it together. And this is the part that I can
- 1:31:17fuck up. So you know, I just pour a bottle of wine and
