- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, good morning, everybody. Happy weekend here listening to the
- 0:03Speaker 1: repcol Light Home improvement show was sponsored by Benjamin Moore.
- 0:06Speaker 1: And this week I want to start with something that
- 0:09Speaker 1: absolutely made my week. I mean absolutely made my week.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I got a phone call from an old friend. Now
- 0:17Speaker 1: I worked with her for years. When I say old,
- 0:20Speaker 1: she's old. It's not like I've known her forever. I have,
- 0:24Speaker 1: But she was old when I first met her. So
- 0:28Speaker 1: old friend in every sense of the word, I love
- 0:32Speaker 1: her dearly. I got a call from her. I worked
- 0:34Speaker 1: with her at Repcolite. She retired, you know, probably during
- 0:37Speaker 1: COVID time something like that. Anyway, anyway, she called and
- 0:41Speaker 1: we were talking, and she told me that she was
- 0:45Speaker 1: really upset about something and she was debating going back
- 0:49Speaker 1: to a particular store with this item. Now, I ask,
- 0:52Speaker 1: you know, what's the deal, what's the deal? What is
- 0:55Speaker 1: going on that's making you this upset? And what needed
- 0:58Speaker 1: to be returned? You know what didn't live up to
- 1:00Speaker 1: your standards? Do you know what it was? I would
- 1:04Speaker 1: love you to guess what you think it was. I
- 1:07Speaker 1: bet if you made a thousand guesses, you would never
- 1:10Speaker 1: get it right. It's toilet paper. I about fell over
- 1:13Speaker 1: when she told me that she got a six pack
- 1:16Speaker 1: of toilet paper, it's down to three and a half
- 1:19Speaker 1: rolls and they're all see through, right, you know, they're
- 1:22Speaker 1: all see through. She hates this stuff. I love the
- 1:25Speaker 1: idea of her driving, you know, to the store with
- 1:28Speaker 1: her partial pack of toilet paper and demanding her money back.
- 1:32Speaker 1: You know. So I'm envisioning that as she's talking to me,
- 1:34Speaker 1: because she's thinking about going back to the store, and
- 1:37Speaker 1: before I even know how to you know, what to
- 1:40Speaker 1: say to that, because she's asking my advice. I didn't
- 1:43Speaker 1: know what to say. But before I could even get
- 1:45Speaker 1: to making a recommendation, she goes on to say that
- 1:49Speaker 1: she called them to complain. I said, you're kidding me.
- 1:53Speaker 1: You called the store to complain about the toilet paper?
- 1:56Speaker 1: She did. She told the person on the phone how
- 1:58Speaker 1: bad this toilet paper was. She told her how thin
- 2:01Speaker 1: it was, and she was descriptive. I mean, I really descriptive.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I won't be as descriptive as she was. She told
- 2:09Speaker 1: this poor lady on the phone all of those things,
- 2:12Speaker 1: and the lady on the phone, you know, rather than
- 2:15Speaker 1: just hanging up. I mean, this is probably really good training,
- 2:18Speaker 1: good customer service because rather than hanging up, the lady
- 2:22Speaker 1: told her, oh no, no, this happens. This happens. You
- 2:27Speaker 1: just got to work your way through the role. You
- 2:29Speaker 1: know what happens all the time. It's the toilet paper machines,
- 2:32Speaker 1: the outer layers, they're always thinner. You just gotta get
- 2:36Speaker 1: your way into that role. And that stuff, you know,
- 2:39Speaker 1: thickens right up. You know, all the plies come together
- 2:43Speaker 1: and all of that. It's gonna be great. Just keep
- 2:45Speaker 1: working through the working through the role. That's what she
- 2:47Speaker 1: told my friend. Well, my friend, of course, she's not
- 2:50Speaker 1: taking any of that, not at all. She's already halfway
- 2:54Speaker 1: into multiple roles and it's thin all the way through. Well,
- 2:58Speaker 1: at that point, you would think the customer service person
- 3:02Speaker 1: on the phone would surrender, right, you would figure she
- 3:06Speaker 1: was cornered, But no, she had more suggestions. You know,
- 3:10Speaker 1: this toilet paper troubleshooter was really doing a good job,
- 3:14Speaker 1: and she wondered if perhaps my friend had accidentally separated
- 3:19Speaker 1: the two plies. You know, you bought two ply paper.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Did you separate the two plies and now you're just
- 3:26Speaker 1: continually unrolling a single ply? You know, that's why it
- 3:29Speaker 1: could be thinner. Now, on the downside, you got to
- 3:32Speaker 1: deal with that. But on the upside, you just doubled
- 3:37Speaker 1: the productivity of that particular role, you know. So if
- 3:39Speaker 1: you could continue to do that, if you can live
- 3:41Speaker 1: with the thin, you're gonna get twice the distance out
- 3:44Speaker 1: of the paper. Well, my friend cannot live with the thin.
- 3:48Speaker 1: So I don't know what she's gonna do. She dealt
- 3:52Speaker 1: with that phone call, finished it and hung up, and
- 3:55Speaker 1: now she's, you know, called me to find out should
- 3:57Speaker 1: she go back to the to the store and bring
- 4:00Speaker 1: her toilet paper in. You know, a lot of us
- 4:02Speaker 1: at Repollite, we've been on the phone, you know, troubleshooting
- 4:05Speaker 1: issues before, paint tissues. You know, somebody's handling a weird
- 4:08Speaker 1: paint situation. They don't know how to how to work
- 4:11Speaker 1: through something, or they're not sure how our product works,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and we've talked them through that. But I never in
- 4:16Speaker 1: a million years dreamed that people in the world, you know,
- 4:20Speaker 1: on a given day, were potentially troubleshooting toilet paper problems.
- 4:24Speaker 1: That was completely new to me, and I loved it.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I loved that idea. You know, I told my friend,
- 4:29Speaker 1: if she does bring that toilet paper back, she's got
- 4:32Speaker 1: to bring somebody with her to record, you know, video
- 4:34Speaker 1: record the interaction. I want to see it and I
- 4:37Speaker 1: want to share it everywhere. Anyway, I was laughing about that,
- 4:41Speaker 1: and I thought that was, you know, that the tip
- 4:43Speaker 1: of the iceberg. You know, we had accomplished the funniest
- 4:47Speaker 1: thing we could talk about, and that was about it.
- 4:48Speaker 1: But it turns out no, she had more. As we
- 4:52Speaker 1: were talking about returning the toilet paper, she gets really
- 4:55Speaker 1: serious and tells me about this toilet seat once that
- 4:58Speaker 1: she bought when her kids were younger, you know, her
- 5:00Speaker 1: as were younger, And she tells me it said right
- 5:02Speaker 1: on the box that this toilet seat was going to
- 5:04Speaker 1: last ten years. You can see where this is going, right,
- 5:08Speaker 1: I said, please tell me more. I'm intrigued, incredibly intrigued.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I would like to know about what happens with this
- 5:15Speaker 1: toilet seat that was supposed to last ten years. Well,
- 5:18Speaker 1: just as you'd expect, the toilet seat served its purpose.
- 5:22Speaker 1: It did its job admirably for a few years, and
- 5:26Speaker 1: then one of the kids got to rough housing. I
- 5:30Speaker 1: love that old term rough housing, right, horseplay. I got
- 5:34Speaker 1: a detention once, I got some attention, and then a
- 5:37Speaker 1: detention because of horse play in middle school. The principal
- 5:40Speaker 1: literally wrote horse play as the reason on my detention slip,
- 5:44Speaker 1: and I think it saved me getting in trouble because
- 5:46Speaker 1: Dad thought that was such a ridiculous reason for a detention. Anyway, anyway,
- 5:51Speaker 1: horse play rough housing. The kids got to rough housing
- 5:54Speaker 1: in the bathroom. I don't know what that looks like,
- 5:56Speaker 1: but somehow things got real in there, and the toilet
- 5:59Speaker 1: seat broke. You know, a ten year warranty on the
- 6:01Speaker 1: toilet seat, and that sucker's broken in three years. Well,
- 6:05Speaker 1: of course, you know what she did. She unscrewed it,
- 6:07Speaker 1: drove straight to the store and demanded a new toilet seat. Yeah,
- 6:12Speaker 1: customer service and retail work. It's not always glamorous, you know.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Those were certainly not glamorous moments for those poor people.
- 6:20Speaker 1: But it's usually not boring, you know, there's always something
- 6:23Speaker 1: going on. Anyway, enough of that. I just had so
- 6:25Speaker 1: much fun with that story I wanted to share it
- 6:28Speaker 1: on the show. Today, I'm going to be in the
- 6:29Speaker 1: studio with Patty Brummel. Now, Patty's a furniture refinisher and
- 6:33Speaker 1: a regular listener and she does all kinds of work
- 6:36Speaker 1: on Instagram. And Facebook under her company name Midlife Revival.
- 6:39Speaker 1: She's going to be joining me and we're gonna be
- 6:41Speaker 1: talking about all kinds of things, from home projects to
- 6:44Speaker 1: favorite paints, to what makes a particular piece of furniture
- 6:47Speaker 1: and absolute no go when it comes to buying and
- 6:50Speaker 1: refinishing it. All of that, all of that is coming
- 6:53Speaker 1: up and much more. But right now, since we started
- 6:55Speaker 1: talking about fun little retail adventures, and since I don't
- 6:58Speaker 1: have hardly any time left, I want to quickly reference
- 7:01Speaker 1: something new that we launched at Repcolite. It's a price
- 7:03Speaker 1: match guarantee. You know how these things work. But the
- 7:07Speaker 1: bottom line is that we want you to be able
- 7:08Speaker 1: to shop with us confidently, you know, knowing that you're
- 7:11Speaker 1: going to get the best price possible. And so we're
- 7:13Speaker 1: going to match any advertised or current competitors price on
- 7:17Speaker 1: identical in stock items, including brands like Benjamin Moore, Wooster,
- 7:21Speaker 1: three M and many more, all kinds of them. Simply
- 7:24Speaker 1: show us a competitors ad or price or a receipt
- 7:27Speaker 1: or something like that at the time of purchase, and
- 7:29Speaker 1: then we'll apply the pricing to your product in our store.
- 7:33Speaker 1: There's a little bit more to it, but you know,
- 7:35Speaker 1: those are the basics. Stop out at your nearest Repcolite
- 7:37Speaker 1: location and ask about it. All right, let's take a break.
- 7:39Speaker 1: When we come back, I'll be talking with furniture refinisher
- 7:42Speaker 1: Patty Brummel, So stick around for that and we're back.
- 7:48Speaker 1: You're listening to the Repco Light Home improvement show sponsored
- 7:51Speaker 1: by Benjamin Moore. And right now I'm pretty excited to
- 7:54Speaker 1: share an interview that I recorded with Patty Brummel from
- 7:58Speaker 1: Midlife Revival. Patty's a furniture refinisher and she shares her
- 8:02Speaker 1: projects and her insights and all of that on social
- 8:05Speaker 1: media Instagram, Facebook, amongst others. She's a lifelong learner. You're
- 8:10Speaker 1: gonna discover that very quickly in this interview. She started
- 8:13Speaker 1: a brand new career, you know, at the midway point
- 8:16Speaker 1: in life. And most importantly, most importantly, she listens to
- 8:20Speaker 1: this show. You know, I didn't clarify any of this
- 8:23Speaker 1: with her, but I'm almost certain that it's her favorite
- 8:26Speaker 1: radio show and podcast. Not sure, but it could be
- 8:30Speaker 1: questions for another day. Anyway, I sat down with Patty
- 8:33Speaker 1: recently and I recorded a long conversation about her journey.
- 8:37Speaker 1: You know, how she got started, How she tackles. You know,
- 8:39Speaker 1: it gets the gumption to tackle these huge projects. And
- 8:42Speaker 1: you're going to hear about some huge projects, and we
- 8:45Speaker 1: talked about all of those things. Right now, I'm going
- 8:47Speaker 1: to play a portion, just a small portion of that interview.
- 8:50Speaker 1: If you do like what you hear and you want more,
- 8:53Speaker 1: just head to Repcolites YouTube page and you can watch
- 8:56Speaker 1: the whole interview in glorious video. So please check that out,
- 9:00Speaker 1: and while you're there, click the thumbs up subscribe ring
- 9:03Speaker 1: the little bell, and that way you can be notified
- 9:06Speaker 1: whenever we post a new interview on the page. All right,
- 9:10Speaker 1: that's enough of that, enough blathering. Let's get to the
- 9:13Speaker 1: interview with Patty Brummel. You spent years from what I'm
- 9:17Speaker 1: you know, from notes you sent me as a registered nurse,
- 9:21Speaker 1: and I'm curious, how in the world did you get
- 9:23Speaker 1: from I mean, I'm a registered nurse to now I'm
- 9:27Speaker 1: refinishing furniture as a business, right, yeah, yeah, how that
- 9:30Speaker 1: all happen?
- 9:33Speaker 2: Some days, I don't know how it happened, but Lord Willing,
- 9:36Speaker 2: it just kept growing. It's definitely been a journey, but
- 9:42Speaker 2: I would say the just to get down to making
- 9:46Speaker 2: it short and sweet back in twenty twelve, so a
- 9:50Speaker 2: little over twelve years ago, I should back it up.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I have I'm married, and I have three daughters. So
- 9:58Speaker 2: the two daughters back in twenty twelve are twins, and
- 10:03Speaker 2: they were just graduated from college and they were moving
- 10:07Speaker 2: out of the house and into their own places. And
- 10:11Speaker 2: at that point, it was like, you know, furnishing, let's,
- 10:14Speaker 2: you know, use hand me downs from the family. Let's
- 10:17Speaker 2: go looking around thrift stores, you know, antique stores. And
- 10:22Speaker 2: so that's what we did. And it was fall of
- 10:27Speaker 2: twenty twelve, I could still remember, and we went to
- 10:29Speaker 2: just a small little place in downtown Zealand. And at
- 10:33Speaker 2: that time, I don't know if you remember this. I
- 10:35Speaker 2: mean you're in the paint industry, but chalk paint was
- 10:40Speaker 2: really becoming a very popular thing for refinishing furniture and
- 10:44Speaker 2: stuff like that. That was short lived for me as
- 10:47Speaker 2: far as the chalk paint, but it made me think
- 10:50Speaker 2: because the girls would say, can you do something with this, mom?
- 10:53Speaker 2: So it doesn't look like you know this? So I
- 10:58Speaker 2: took a class this place. This place, there was a
- 11:01Speaker 2: vendor that was selling this chalk paint and she was
- 11:04Speaker 2: going to have a class coming really up close. So
- 11:07Speaker 2: I took it and just learned some basics, and from
- 11:12Speaker 2: there I just started, you know, refinishing, like an end
- 11:15Speaker 2: table for them, or just trying to think there was
- 11:18Speaker 2: a little desk or coffee table, those kind of things.
- 11:22Speaker 2: And I look at back at those things and I
- 11:25Speaker 2: cringe at.
- 11:26Speaker 1: The look of them. Yes, okay, so they still have them,
- 11:29Speaker 1: so you can.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Well, not all of them, some of them I updated
- 11:33Speaker 2: later as I got better. The thing with chalk paint,
- 11:37Speaker 2: if you've ever used it, is it It doesn't have
- 11:42Speaker 2: a really nice finish. You know, it has a bumpiness.
- 11:45Speaker 2: And back then it was promoting, oh, you don't need
- 11:48Speaker 2: to sand, you don't need to prime, you know, all
- 11:50Speaker 2: these things. So of course, like someone had maybe painted
- 11:54Speaker 2: this piece they found, my daughters had found, and so
- 11:59Speaker 2: I don't need to sand dead, I don't, you know,
- 12:01Speaker 2: I'll just paint right over that, not knowing that whatever
- 12:05Speaker 2: texture was already there.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Was going to be what I was gonna all of that.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Oh yes, no, no, And I have totally gone away
- 12:16Speaker 2: from that. Yes you need primer, you know, there is
- 12:20Speaker 2: self leveling and stuff like that. But now I'm kind
- 12:23Speaker 2: of to the point where I don't like to be
- 12:25Speaker 2: limited by the colors of justice those paint lines, and
- 12:30Speaker 2: that's where I frequent you know, Repcolite, and I love
- 12:35Speaker 2: some of the Benjamin Moore products that can be used
- 12:38Speaker 2: for furniture as well. But so back to the story,
- 12:42Speaker 2: I yeah, just that's how it started.
- 12:45Speaker 1: So you're helping them, helping them, yeah.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and then well then it was like, oh, I
- 12:53Speaker 2: maybe do some things around my house. And then it
- 12:56Speaker 2: was a couple of years later my kids were like,
- 12:59Speaker 2: I never was like on Facebook or anything, and I
- 13:02Speaker 2: just they were like, Mom, you really should start showing
- 13:04Speaker 2: some of this stuff. So they helped me set up
- 13:06Speaker 2: a Facebook page.
- 13:07Speaker 1: So you were doing it more than just for yourself
- 13:10Speaker 1: a little bit here and there or Yeah.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I still was just that it was just a hobby.
- 13:14Speaker 2: It was in my garage. I liked it, and it
- 13:17Speaker 2: was because being a registered nurse, it was just therapeutic
- 13:22Speaker 2: just to be able to go dabbling something. And even
- 13:25Speaker 2: to this day, I don't feel like it's work when
- 13:27Speaker 2: I work on my furniture. That was what was just
- 13:31Speaker 2: so good about it was that it was something so
- 13:34Speaker 2: different and I could just.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Why was it therapeutic? Do you think I mean, is
- 13:37Speaker 1: it just well kind of check out because.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Just as a nurse, it's just very stressful, you know,
- 13:43Speaker 2: and to me, that's real work. You know. My last
- 13:47Speaker 2: job that I ended up leaving to do this full
- 13:51Speaker 2: time was working in a doctor's office, so it was
- 13:55Speaker 2: more like phone triage and you get a lot of
- 14:00Speaker 2: unhappy people who call in sometimes, you know, and it
- 14:04Speaker 2: was yeah, it definitely it takes a toll on you.
- 14:08Speaker 2: So yeah, that's how it started. And then it just
- 14:13Speaker 2: once I started the Facebook page and you know, people
- 14:17Speaker 2: started to see it and some of my coworkers were like,
- 14:21Speaker 2: would you ever think about doing something for me? I
- 14:24Speaker 2: have something? And so that's how it evolved into what
- 14:28Speaker 2: it is today. Is just word of mouth and stuff
- 14:32Speaker 2: like that, and it's gone much further than that.
- 14:35Speaker 1: But that's really really cool. Yeah, So how much did
- 14:38Speaker 1: you know about it? I mean when you started with
- 14:40Speaker 1: your daughters, I mean you kind of said some of
- 14:42Speaker 1: that it was it was new to you. You hadn't
- 14:44Speaker 1: done a lot of it. Yeah, you jumped in. And
- 14:46Speaker 1: how comfortable were you with things like that?
- 14:50Speaker 2: Probably not real comfortable. I mean I had I had
- 14:54Speaker 2: painted at your home piece or so, and I definitely
- 14:57Speaker 2: had painted walls. Yeah, but back then, I mean I
- 15:04Speaker 2: don't even know when, like YouTube and Google really came
- 15:07Speaker 2: on as a thing. But then you didn't go and
- 15:11Speaker 2: google or YouTube how to do this like you can nowadays.
- 15:16Speaker 2: So it was a lot of just trial and ear.
- 15:18Speaker 2: And then when I eventually took my Facebook page and
- 15:22Speaker 2: decided I would also do an Instagram page, that is
- 15:27Speaker 2: where the world just opened up to me to know
- 15:30Speaker 2: there were so yes, okay, that there were so many
- 15:32Speaker 2: other furniture refinishers out there. I mean not to the
- 15:36Speaker 2: point there are today. It's just crazy. A lot of people,
- 15:40Speaker 2: it seems like, came onto it when they were hunkered
- 15:44Speaker 2: down during COVID.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yeah, COVID. So you decide you're gonna quit me in
- 15:49Speaker 1: a nurse, yeah, and go into that was that scary.
- 15:53Speaker 2: It was very scary. I had to convince my husband
- 15:56Speaker 2: first of all, Tim seeing how passionate I was about
- 15:59Speaker 2: what I was doing, and it was just getting to
- 16:03Speaker 2: the point where I had a little booth I was
- 16:05Speaker 2: renting in Hudsonville, so I was trying to keep that
- 16:10Speaker 2: stocked with small home decor and some of my painted furniture,
- 16:16Speaker 2: using that as an avenue for advertising if someone came in,
- 16:19Speaker 2: which it did help, and I had business cards there
- 16:23Speaker 2: and they could, you know, just grab one of those
- 16:25Speaker 2: and I got contacts through that.
- 16:28Speaker 1: And then you still refinishing largely.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but I'm still working as a nurse in
- 16:34Speaker 2: phone triage, and then I've got some custom work on
- 16:38Speaker 2: the side. So I was I was feeling very pulled
- 16:41Speaker 2: with these three different things, plus being a mom and
- 16:44Speaker 2: a wife and all that. So he saw how passionate
- 16:48Speaker 2: again I was about it, and it wasn't like it
- 16:51Speaker 2: was just this little flighty hobby for just a little bit,
- 16:54Speaker 2: and he could see that I could make money off
- 16:57Speaker 2: of this, so yeah, yeah, I basically put my notice
- 17:02Speaker 2: in early twenty seventeen. They had to find a replacement
- 17:06Speaker 2: for me, and I said, you know what, I'll stay
- 17:08Speaker 2: on until you find someone, which ended up being about
- 17:11Speaker 2: six seven months before they found something. Yeah, because then
- 17:14Speaker 2: you have to train the person. And so right at
- 17:18Speaker 2: the end of twenty seventeen, I hung up my stethoscope,
- 17:22Speaker 2: as I say, and how.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Do you feel about all of that? Set the right decision.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I It was scary, but I have no regrets. It
- 17:33Speaker 2: has just been a wonderful ride. I appreciate my husband
- 17:36Speaker 2: letting me do it, and yeah, I couldn't do it
- 17:40Speaker 2: if it weren't for him, you know, letting me let go.
- 17:43Speaker 2: But it's like I said, it has just opened so
- 17:45Speaker 2: many doors and it's just been a fun journey. And again,
- 17:50Speaker 2: I was like approaching the fifty year mark at that time.
- 17:56Speaker 2: And that's the name for my company. I named it
- 17:58Speaker 2: Midlife Revival because it was my midlife. I think it's
- 18:02Speaker 2: really midlife at fifty. Some people say forty. I heard
- 18:06Speaker 2: the other day.
- 18:07Speaker 1: But thought it was twenty four. Oh, I'm passed.
- 18:13Speaker 2: So and then, you know, reviving myself, you know, by
- 18:17Speaker 2: doing something different in life and not feeling like I
- 18:19Speaker 2: always had to be a nurse, and you know, as
- 18:22Speaker 2: the kids got older, they don't need you as much,
- 18:25Speaker 2: and so kind of just finding something to occupy my
- 18:29Speaker 2: time when they were out of the house. And then
- 18:32Speaker 2: I like to take that midlife revival and also bring
- 18:35Speaker 2: it to my furniture and you know, they've lived, Yeah,
- 18:39Speaker 2: they've lived. They lived one life just like me, and
- 18:42Speaker 2: now they're going to live another life and they're being revived.
- 18:45Speaker 2: So it's it's a twofold reason I picked that name.
- 18:49Speaker 1: That's a great name. All right, we're gonna take a
- 18:52Speaker 1: quick break and when we come back, I've got more
- 18:54Speaker 1: of Patty's story. That's all coming up next and stick around.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Welcome back here, listening to the Rep Coolite Home improvement
- 19:03Speaker 1: show sponsored by Benjamin Moore, and I want to jump
- 19:06Speaker 1: back in to my interview with Patty Brummel from Midlife Revival.
- 19:10Speaker 1: And if you want to check out Patty's work while
- 19:12Speaker 1: you listen, you can find her on Instagram and Facebook
- 19:15Speaker 1: by searching mid Dash Life Revival, Midlife Revival, Little Dash
- 19:20Speaker 1: in between mid and Life. You can find her there,
- 19:23Speaker 1: so check that out. A lot of stuff on her
- 19:25Speaker 1: page that's probably going to be very interesting to scroll
- 19:28Speaker 1: through as you're listening. And remember what you are hearing
- 19:32Speaker 1: on the radio here and in this podcast is just
- 19:35Speaker 1: a small portion of the full interview. If you want
- 19:37Speaker 1: to catch the whole thing and watch it in glorious video,
- 19:41Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if there's anything better than that.
- 19:44Speaker 1: If you want to catch it on video, just head
- 19:46Speaker 1: to Repolit's YouTube page and check it out. But right now,
- 19:49Speaker 1: let's get back to the conversation. You know, what's going
- 19:52Speaker 1: through your mind as you assess is this piece, something
- 19:54Speaker 1: that you can do something with, something that I should
- 19:57Speaker 1: just leave here.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Well, I have a certain style furniture that I like.
- 20:01Speaker 2: There's a lot of people who are really into the
- 20:03Speaker 2: mid Century. I lived the mid century, so for me,
- 20:07Speaker 2: that's really not my thing. I love more the early
- 20:11Speaker 2: nineteen hundreds or even older. I'm not a huge Victorian,
- 20:16Speaker 2: but I do like the dressers and you know, stuff
- 20:20Speaker 2: from this early nineteen hundreds. But yeah, I do. I
- 20:25Speaker 2: have a problem with Facebook Marketplace.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Oh, Facebook Marketplace. I always forget about that one.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Yeah. I love estate sales, but you have to learn
- 20:34Speaker 2: to be wise with that what is well because the
- 20:37Speaker 2: prices can be really high on the first day. So
- 20:40Speaker 2: I've tried to educate people on this that estate sales
- 20:45Speaker 2: normally it's a two day or a three day thing.
- 20:47Speaker 2: So the first day will be full price, the second
- 20:50Speaker 2: day will be maybe thirty percent off, and then the
- 20:53Speaker 2: third day will be fifty percent or if it's only
- 20:56Speaker 2: a two day, they go to fifty percent, like after
- 20:58Speaker 2: twelve o'clock in the afternoon on the second day. If
- 21:01Speaker 2: it's something that you could live without, but you're like, oh,
- 21:05Speaker 2: I would like that, I will go check it out.
- 21:08Speaker 2: On the first day, see what the price is. If
- 21:10Speaker 2: it's like, okay, that's a little too much, and I
- 21:13Speaker 2: can walk away. If it doesn't it's not there. The
- 21:16Speaker 2: next day, I'll do it. But I have gotten a
- 21:20Speaker 2: lot of things by just coming back the second day.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Really.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Yeah, And some of the estate companies will even have
- 21:29Speaker 2: what they call like a like a silent auction thing
- 21:32Speaker 2: where they'll have a box there and as long as
- 21:35Speaker 2: you do half of the price plus one dollar, they'll
- 21:39Speaker 2: call you. So like, yeah, I've done that where I
- 21:42Speaker 2: just do half of the price and I add one
- 21:44Speaker 2: dollar to it or two dollars, and I've gotten a
- 21:47Speaker 2: lot of calls back on that. And then you don't
- 21:49Speaker 2: really have to come back immediately the next day right
- 21:52Speaker 2: away to see if it's there. They just call you
- 21:55Speaker 2: and say at the end of the first day or
- 21:56Speaker 2: second day, hey, your bid was the highest. If you
- 22:00Speaker 2: like it, you can come anytime on this day, before
- 22:03Speaker 2: this time or whatever.
- 22:04Speaker 1: When you look at a piece, what are you assessed?
- 22:07Speaker 1: You know, to make sure that.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Well, first of all, you give it the smell test.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Oh tell me about the smell test.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Okay, So if it's got like smoke, okay, Well yeah,
- 22:17Speaker 2: all of them are gonna smell like craym. Probably the
- 22:20Speaker 2: smoke is going to be the bad one. So even
- 22:24Speaker 2: with Facebook marketplace, I always ask if this is available,
- 22:28Speaker 2: is it from a smoke free home? Okay, the smoke
- 22:31Speaker 2: I'll definitely walk away from. If it's just oh yeah,
- 22:34Speaker 2: oh yeah. Well there are ways, but you're not guaranteed. Okay,
- 22:39Speaker 2: you can try, like a good vinegar cleaning. You can
- 22:44Speaker 2: use the Binchillac spray to try to block, you know,
- 22:48Speaker 2: seal in those odors. But I learned after one piece.
- 22:53Speaker 2: It was just this tiny little secretary desk where it'd
- 22:56Speaker 2: folded down, but it was just a small dusk and
- 22:59Speaker 2: I was working in my garage and so it basically
- 23:04Speaker 2: always sat in my garage. I never smelled anything, but
- 23:07Speaker 2: I cleaned it with the vinegar water and you know
- 23:10Speaker 2: all that. And the Gale who bought it a few
- 23:13Speaker 2: days later, she caused me she had put it in
- 23:16Speaker 2: her kitchen kind of as a little like station for
- 23:18Speaker 2: her for her kids school papers and all that, and
- 23:23Speaker 2: she's like, I'm smelling smoke. So I had her bring
- 23:28Speaker 2: it back and so we did the spray select because
- 23:31Speaker 2: I had not used that, and it did yeah, it did.
- 23:34Speaker 2: She took it back and then no problems. So I
- 23:38Speaker 2: now just even this musty grandma smell. After I've given
- 23:42Speaker 2: everything a really good cleaning, I will seal all my
- 23:47Speaker 2: pieces under the drawers, inside the drawers on the back,
- 23:51Speaker 2: underneath everything with that benchilect R spray, just to seal
- 23:56Speaker 2: in if there is still any odors, because normally I
- 24:00Speaker 2: can't smell anything anymore, so it might just come later.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I know, so stink smell or you don't want anything
- 24:07Speaker 1: to do with stink, what other? Yeah, so you're looking at.
- 24:10Speaker 2: It, I would look at repairs. I mean, drawers can
- 24:14Speaker 2: be a little tricky. It just depends on what's your
- 24:19Speaker 2: capability skill level on you know, repairs. If it's peeling veneer,
- 24:24Speaker 2: I'm not afraid of that anymore. I used to be,
- 24:27Speaker 2: but it's pretty easy. If it's just a top with
- 24:30Speaker 2: some peeling.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Veneer, get it glued back down, well you.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Can try that. Or it's amazing sometimes the beautiful wood
- 24:37Speaker 2: that's actually underneath that veneer. So I've done both. It
- 24:42Speaker 2: just depends on how bad. I had this one armoire
- 24:47Speaker 2: once where the veneer it was just on the top,
- 24:50Speaker 2: but the veneer it just like just all just peeled off.
- 24:54Speaker 2: That was probably the easiest. But then I've had some
- 24:57Speaker 2: other like dressers that clients have brought and I've had
- 25:00Speaker 2: to use like the hot iron and wet towel. Sure
- 25:03Speaker 2: you technice can do it that way, but gorgeous wood underneath,
- 25:08Speaker 2: you know, So.
- 25:10Speaker 1: That's really fun.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fun.
- 25:12Speaker 1: It's like when you strip something that was painted and
- 25:14Speaker 1: you realize, yeah, I don't understand why this is painted,
- 25:17Speaker 1: and it's.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Nice to be able to keep some part of it
- 25:20Speaker 2: is the original wood if you can, so you know,
- 25:23Speaker 2: do that kind of the two tone they call it,
- 25:25Speaker 2: but just the stain top with a painted But yeah, so.
- 25:29Speaker 1: What about now you mentioned some of it? I mean,
- 25:31Speaker 1: where do you go? You find these things at a
- 25:33Speaker 1: state sales face, Facebook market pace.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I'm not a big garage sale, but though some people
- 25:38Speaker 2: get them at garage sales, and then I would say,
- 25:43Speaker 2: trying to think, I really that's about it. I don't
- 25:47Speaker 2: well thrift stores, but thrift stores have gotten hold of
- 25:50Speaker 2: the idea that you're going to pay huge amount for
- 25:56Speaker 2: a very old dresser just because they know that people
- 25:59Speaker 2: will do vibm and flip them and stuff. And again
- 26:02Speaker 2: with that a thrift store they'll have where if it's
- 26:05Speaker 2: been there for a month, they'll mark it down a
- 26:06Speaker 2: little bit if it's been there for two months against
- 26:09Speaker 2: Mark Dwnsmore. I haven't bought too many things at thrift stores.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I know there's other furniture refinishers that do. Again, I
- 26:16Speaker 2: think my favorites is an estate sale because in that respect,
- 26:21Speaker 2: especially if you go into a home that's been well
- 26:23Speaker 2: maintained all these years versus a thrift store or you
- 26:27Speaker 2: don't know where, if it's been sitting in a barn
- 26:30Speaker 2: or what you know.
- 26:31Speaker 1: So, yeah, no, that's really cool. Well, obviously I've got
- 26:36Speaker 1: an idea where you're at on this, But the whole
- 26:38Speaker 1: have you run into issues with every time we talk
- 26:41Speaker 1: about this on the radio show, talk about you know,
- 26:44Speaker 1: finishing furniture, refinishing furniture. Honestly, it comes up big time
- 26:48Speaker 1: when we talk about kitchen cabinets. There's two camps. There's
- 26:52Speaker 1: one camp that is all about painting over wood. There's
- 26:56Speaker 1: another camp that is absolutely cannot believe that anybody would
- 26:59Speaker 1: paint over would you're getting these you know, vintage pieces,
- 27:04Speaker 1: antique pieces, some of them are all wood. Sounds like
- 27:06Speaker 1: you're painting over them. I mean, if you're hitting them
- 27:08Speaker 1: with ben how do you feel about that cross?
- 27:11Speaker 2: How I feel it depends on how the piece comes
- 27:14Speaker 2: to me, you know, or I find it. If it's
- 27:18Speaker 2: something that absolutely could be like fully restored, like gorgeous wood,
- 27:26Speaker 2: all that, I'm all for trying to just restain it
- 27:31Speaker 2: or leave it as a very light you know, just
- 27:34Speaker 2: take the old finish off and seal it. That became
- 27:37Speaker 2: quite a trend for a while. I think people are
- 27:39Speaker 2: kind of getting away from that, but it still is.
- 27:42Speaker 2: But the problem is that a lot of these old
- 27:45Speaker 2: pieces that I like from the early nineteen hundreds all
- 27:49Speaker 2: have this veneer covering them, and it can be chipping
- 27:52Speaker 2: or peeling. And that's where if you're going to just
- 27:55Speaker 2: repair where the veneer has chipped off or whatever you're
- 27:58Speaker 2: going to use like a bondo or something to you're
- 28:02Speaker 2: gonna have to paint right. That's why it's nice to
- 28:04Speaker 2: save a top maybe if you can.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Got some of the original. Yeah. Yeah, So when we
- 28:10Speaker 1: would talk to people, you know, one of the things
- 28:12Speaker 1: I would always try to say, is is it getting
- 28:14Speaker 1: use right? You know in your attic? Because I've talked
- 28:17Speaker 1: to plenty of people who that style, whatever that is,
- 28:20Speaker 1: it doesn't fit with what I've got, right, And if
- 28:22Speaker 1: it's not having any use at all, what kind of
- 28:24Speaker 1: life is it leading at this point? But if you
- 28:26Speaker 1: put some paint on it and now can bring it in,
- 28:29Speaker 1: it's ten times I.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Feel like, I mean, I don't know the whole history
- 28:33Speaker 2: of painted furniture, but I know it goes back to
- 28:37Speaker 2: it goes back to the I think the seventeen hundreds,
- 28:41Speaker 2: you know, or whatever, because you look at like colonial
- 28:44Speaker 2: times there was painted.
- 28:45Speaker 1: I'm pre sure the cavemen painted their rocks, Okay, you
- 28:48Speaker 1: know from.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, So all the way, it goes way back.
- 28:51Speaker 2: It's not like, you know, we're doing something that wasn't
- 28:55Speaker 2: done before.
- 28:56Speaker 1: All right, let's take a quick break and then we'll
- 28:58Speaker 1: be back for the conclusion of my commonsation with Patty
- 29:00Speaker 1: Brummel from Midlife Revival. Stick around and we're backa listening
- 29:11Speaker 1: to the repcal Light Home improvement show sponsored by Benjamin Moore.
- 29:14Speaker 1: And let's just get right into the conclusion of my
- 29:16Speaker 1: conversation with Furniture refinisher and all around Di I wire
- 29:21Speaker 1: Patty Brummel from Midlife Revival. So right now. Your biggest
- 29:25Speaker 1: thing that you're working on is this renovation. You talked
- 29:28Speaker 1: about it. Yeah, your daughter's nineteen twenties. Nineteen twenties, right,
- 29:33Speaker 1: what's that whole experience been like.
- 29:39Speaker 2: It's been challenging, but it has been fun. This is
- 29:44Speaker 2: our youngest daughter. She had been looking for a house
- 29:47Speaker 2: for several months and everything was falling through. Everything was
- 29:51Speaker 2: like really small and you were going to pay really
- 29:54Speaker 2: big bucks for it. But it all worked out good
- 29:57Speaker 2: because this house was really outside of her financial capability
- 30:04Speaker 2: to purchase, but it had more space and it gave
- 30:08Speaker 2: mom a workshop so I could get out of my
- 30:11Speaker 2: garage and so I was just paying a rent and.
- 30:15Speaker 1: It need work. Oh yeah, okay, oh yeah.
- 30:18Speaker 2: It was definitely one of those that you would call
- 30:20Speaker 2: the fixer upper. We knew going into it that it
- 30:24Speaker 2: needed a new roof.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Who did that? Did you hire that? Yeah?
- 30:28Speaker 2: We hired that. Oh yeah, we yeah, there were we
- 30:31Speaker 2: know our capabilities.
- 30:33Speaker 1: That's one of the best things you can know. Yeah ability.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Yes, we did this. Actually with another daughter, we helped
- 30:39Speaker 2: her with her first home here in the Holland area,
- 30:43Speaker 2: and hers was not as much of a fixer up.
- 30:47Speaker 2: It was more just a cosmetic thing, but it it
- 30:50Speaker 2: was nineteen twenty four age, so close the same age.
- 30:55Speaker 2: So the plumbing electrical we had hired out to do,
- 30:58Speaker 2: and then we did all the cosmetic stuff. And that's
- 31:01Speaker 2: where I learned a lot of these projects is trial
- 31:05Speaker 2: and error. She says, I try. I trialed on her, yeah, yeah,
- 31:09Speaker 2: and then yeah, well and she was the firstborn too,
- 31:12Speaker 2: so I trialed on her.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Yeah exactly. So little sister had got some fine tuned
- 31:17Speaker 1: versions of us, but the other ones they get their
- 31:20Speaker 1: rough yes.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Yes, so. And then going into this house that we're
- 31:24Speaker 2: presently been working on for over a year, I hate
- 31:27Speaker 2: to say, is we did higher out for the roof.
- 31:32Speaker 2: We ended up getting all new electrical and plumbing in
- 31:35Speaker 2: there as well, and then it snowballed into more things
- 31:40Speaker 2: than we thought. So the interior we are almost finished with.
- 31:45Speaker 2: I'm just finishing up that upstairs apartment.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Pretty much done with the interior stuff. Yeah, other you know,
- 31:50Speaker 1: bigger projects, which is in the kitchen.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Let's say, well, I have refinished the cabinets in her kitchen.
- 31:57Speaker 2: She had like nineteen eighties, oh cabinets in there, and
- 32:03Speaker 2: she wanted them to be black. The cabinets and so
- 32:06Speaker 2: we started out with Benmore Advance because I love the
- 32:10Speaker 2: Advance product, very durable, very durable. I actually used it
- 32:15Speaker 2: in my for the first time in my other daughter's house,
- 32:19Speaker 2: but hers were just like a lighter off white color.
- 32:23Speaker 2: But the problem was that Advance only has the higher sheen,
- 32:29Speaker 2: so the black just it was too much. Oh, it
- 32:32Speaker 2: was too much.
- 32:33Speaker 1: They've got a satin sheen, and.
- 32:34Speaker 2: They have a satin but satin was too much. So
- 32:37Speaker 2: I went into the store talk to them, I should
- 32:41Speaker 2: back it up. I did have someone hired out to
- 32:44Speaker 2: do all my wall painting and spray all the trim,
- 32:47Speaker 2: because I learned from doing my other daughter's house that
- 32:51Speaker 2: it was better that I just pay someone and because
- 32:56Speaker 2: it I don't have a great sprayer, and so it
- 33:00Speaker 2: was just so time consuming. So anyways, he was using
- 33:03Speaker 2: scuff X Benjamin Moore scuff X for all the trim,
- 33:06Speaker 2: and so so I went into the store and I said,
- 33:10Speaker 2: what about scuff X for the cabinets And that came
- 33:15Speaker 2: into Matt Finish and that was perfect. And so yeah,
- 33:18Speaker 2: I have another favorite.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Lots of projects, lots of things. What was the biggest,
- 33:23Speaker 1: you know, the biggest challenge in all of that money
- 33:26Speaker 1: probably make it work, right, we hire the people that
- 33:30Speaker 1: you want exactly.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we wanted to try to preserve as much
- 33:35Speaker 2: of the house's character as possible, and unfortunately it did
- 33:39Speaker 2: have all of the original woodwork. Unfortunately it had been
- 33:43Speaker 2: painted prior, so I would say that was one of
- 33:46Speaker 2: the bigger challenges, was preserving that but having to repaint it.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Some of the areas we had to remove the trim,
- 33:55Speaker 2: so then you have nails to pull out and patch that.
- 34:00Speaker 1: But then the lead based paint or anything or what
- 34:02Speaker 1: do not even think about it. Let's just not think
- 34:05Speaker 1: about it.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Yeah, well, nothing was like chipping and stuff. I don't
- 34:10Speaker 2: think the paint that was on the top was because
- 34:13Speaker 2: I think that's nineteen seventies or earlier, right, and this
- 34:17Speaker 2: was probably more like an eighties type renovation.
- 34:22Speaker 1: It was encapsulated there it was, and then no, and
- 34:26Speaker 1: then I have a.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Hepa filter type sanding system that I use to do
- 34:33Speaker 2: the scuff sanding with. And no one was living in
- 34:36Speaker 2: the house either. And then we did use the bin
- 34:40Speaker 2: schelect white primer to encapsulate everything as well afterwards, so
- 34:46Speaker 2: that would have been one of the biggest challenges too.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Was just all the trim work, trying to preserve it,
- 34:52Speaker 2: you know, keep it. Whereas now I know why a
- 34:54Speaker 2: lot of HGTV shows are just they just rip everything
- 34:58Speaker 2: out because it's so much easier just to start all
- 35:01Speaker 2: new than to try to redo everything in there.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Are you happy you did those?
- 35:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah, one hundred.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:12Speaker 2: And we really repurposed a lot of other stuff that
- 35:16Speaker 2: we had to pull out because we actually put an
- 35:19Speaker 2: addition on the upstairs bumped up the ceiling because it
- 35:22Speaker 2: had like a slanted ceiling, so we were able to
- 35:26Speaker 2: preserve or save rafters that were a cool wood feature.
- 35:32Speaker 2: And yeah, I oh really cool, just a lot of things.
- 35:35Speaker 2: So yeah, it was fun. I mean because money was
- 35:40Speaker 2: an issue. It's just kind of fun to how you
- 35:42Speaker 2: can recycle.
- 35:44Speaker 1: No, I don't, I'm trying to keep No, I can't
- 35:47Speaker 1: imagine the thing I've ever done. Every time I do
- 35:49Speaker 1: the thing, Yeah, the grocery store in money.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Oh that's awful. Yeah, I know you.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Want so I've got a wayte to go. I can
- 35:57Speaker 1: just live off that.
- 35:58Speaker 2: A good way to have a diet.
- 36:01Speaker 1: So if you're talking to anybody, you know you're talking
- 36:02Speaker 1: to a bunch of people who tackle things like this
- 36:06Speaker 1: or have been afraid to tackle things like that. You know,
- 36:08Speaker 1: that's that's a major undertaking what you jumped into. What
- 36:12Speaker 1: would you tell them.
- 36:13Speaker 2: I would just say it definitely gives you that satisfaction
- 36:18Speaker 2: that you did it. But you have to know your limits.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Well, and that's what it seemed you guys did really
- 36:24Speaker 1: well with you know, from what you're talking about. You
- 36:27Speaker 1: didn't jump into projects that you knew were big budgeted
- 36:30Speaker 1: the money to go cover those things, and you tackle
- 36:32Speaker 1: the things you can do.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Really, you know, it depends on the people. But for me,
- 36:37Speaker 1: I know it would have been smart in the time
- 36:40Speaker 1: I did it with the drywall. It would have been
- 36:42Speaker 1: better for me.
- 36:42Speaker 2: To hope that yeah all them, Yeah, yeah.
- 36:44Speaker 1: I did it. I learned how to do it. Yeah,
- 36:46Speaker 1: I got through it. I was never thrilled with the
- 36:49Speaker 1: results because yeah, well I've done it before, and I've
- 36:52Speaker 1: talked to people who let me realize that the price
- 36:55Speaker 1: of having it done was not near what I had
- 36:57Speaker 1: anticipated it.
- 36:58Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, you have to pick and choose. And again,
- 37:01Speaker 2: we tried trialed a lot of things on our first
- 37:04Speaker 2: daughter's house, and we learned what we could and could
- 37:08Speaker 2: not do. But what's also been great is it has
- 37:12Speaker 2: given us connections to a lot of good trades people.
- 37:17Speaker 2: And I guess, you know, if someone was going to
- 37:21Speaker 2: do something like this, I say, you know, go for it,
- 37:24Speaker 2: but again, find what is what you want to work
- 37:28Speaker 2: on and what would be best to hire out. But
- 37:32Speaker 2: there are also people who don't even want to pick
- 37:36Speaker 2: out their finishes or anything, and that is what I
- 37:40Speaker 2: love to do.
- 37:41Speaker 1: You enjoyed that, oh.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Yes, oh yes, I should have gone to school for
- 37:45Speaker 2: interior decorating design and stuff because I absolutely love that.
- 37:49Speaker 1: But that's the thing. If you're in that boat, you know,
- 37:51Speaker 1: you're you're hiring, you're looking at the big project like that.
- 37:54Speaker 1: There are lots of people you know, yeah, got contact
- 37:57Speaker 1: with painters. Yeah, we've got people that can help with
- 37:59Speaker 1: com I know, you can help with color. I mean,
- 38:01Speaker 1: there's all kinds of people out there who do exactly
- 38:04Speaker 1: what you need done and can do it. Well. It's
- 38:07Speaker 1: worth that conversation.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Right, and sometimes you just need that guidance and stuff,
- 38:11Speaker 2: just a consultation or whatever and yeah, yeah, what you're doing,
- 38:16Speaker 2: yeah exactly.
- 38:17Speaker 1: So Patty, if people want to follow you, how do
- 38:19Speaker 1: they find you?
- 38:20Speaker 2: If they're following on social media if they are on
- 38:22Speaker 2: the social media platforms. I'm on Facebook Midlife Revival as
- 38:27Speaker 2: well as Instagram Midlife Revival. But I also have a
- 38:30Speaker 2: website that you know, kind of goes through my background
- 38:35Speaker 2: of where this all started and nice services that I offer,
- 38:40Speaker 2: and that's Midlife revival dot com.
- 38:42Speaker 1: All right, I'll put links to all of that in
- 38:44Speaker 1: the show notes. Thanks for hanging out.
- 38:45Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks for having me. I really appreciate this opportunity.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Absolutely, It's a lot of fun. All right, that's gonna
- 38:51Speaker 1: do it. That's all the time we've got really for
- 38:54Speaker 1: this whole episode. Remember what you've just heard with Patty
- 38:58Speaker 1: Bromo was only a small portion of a much larger interview,
- 39:01Speaker 1: And if you do want to catch the whole thing,
- 39:03Speaker 1: just head to rept Coollites YouTube page and it's all
- 39:05Speaker 1: there in glorious full color video, So check that out.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Whatever you do today makes your paints a part of it,
- 39:11Speaker 1: even if it's just a little part. But it really
- 39:14Speaker 1: wouldn't bother us if it was a great, big part.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Whatever it is, makes your paints a part of it.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Have a great weekend, everybody, and I'll see you next week.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I'm Dan Hansen. Thanks for listening.
