3:10
Dave Allen Show on x Yesterday's show between candidate for Secretary of State Doug scaff
3:16
and Republican strategist Rob Cornelius was one for the ages. Mister Cornelius stated yesterday
3:23
that goubernatorial candidate more Capito had yet to say he would vote for Donald Trump.
3:29
Well, the people for the more Capito camp were listening and we're not
3:34
happy. I talked to them after the show and told them I would gladly
3:37
read a statement proclaiming mister Capitol's position until we can get him on the show,
3:44
which we were able to work out later the day. More Capito,
3:46
Republican candidate for governor, will be on the show tomorrow to speak for himself.
3:52
But until that time and the interest of fairness, this is the statement
3:55
that will send to me from the more Capitol campaign. Headline is more Capitol
3:59
camp paint statement. Dave alland WCCHS Radio, dated Tuesday, April thirtieth.
4:03
On your radio show yesterday, you had a paid operative supporting Patrick Morrissey for
4:09
Governor who tried to deceive your listeners. Here's the truth. More Capitol endorsed
4:13
President Trump. Back in September twenty twenty three. More Capito restated his support
4:17
for President Trump during the forum Morrisy's operative cited saying, quote, I think
4:21
it's critically important Donald Trump wins in November. I support President Trump. I've
4:27
endorsed him, and we've made that perfectly clear and quote not only the statement
4:31
goes on to Raad's more Capital endorsed President Trump. He's the only Republican candidate
4:35
running for governor who is reaching out and courting the very voters President Trump invited
4:41
into the Republican Party back in twenty sixteen. His efforts have earned him support
4:46
of mind workers, steel workers, and construction workers across the state. More
4:49
Capital looks forward to voting for President Trump and ask all voters who are part
4:54
of President Trump's coalition to join his campaign. With President Trump back in the
4:57
White House, Governor Jim Justice as part of a great team in the West
5:00
Senate, and more Capito as governor, West Virginia will become an economic powerhouse.
5:03
Signed Kent Gates. More Capito for Governor spokesperson. So that is the
5:09
statement that was released yesterday following the appearance and the comments made by Rob Cornelius
5:14
on yesterday's show. More Capito again will be on the show to speak for
5:17
himself tomorrow. Morning. Offered him this morning, but kind of short notice
5:21
when you're running a campaign for governor, so he couldn't come on this morning,
5:25

me talking about him every day as a sponsor to the show, But I
6:06
want to spend a little extra time this morning talking to the people of fresh
6:10
Air. John Lovejoy is what the company fresh Airity joins us now. John,
6:14
Good morning, Welcome to the show. Good morning, Dave. How
6:16
are you? I'm fine. Now, You're not going to provide as many
6:18
fireworks as we had on yesterday's show, right, I'm going to try to
6:23
keep it a little bit more reserve. A little bit boring might be good.
6:28
Not that you're boring, Not that you're boring. I want to start
6:30
off by making sure that everyone understands fresh Air is a filter company right for
6:38
HVAC units, but not an HVAC company. You don't do systems, you
6:42
only do filters. That's exactly right. We are, actually, I like
6:45
to refer to as kind of like the icing on the cake, the cake
6:48
being the HVAC company that comes out and installs the units and maintains those and
6:55
then we come out and we simply change the filters in those units to help
7:00
provide better air quality inside either the business or the residents. So answer the
7:06
question, why do I need someone to change the filters? I mean,
7:10
look, John, I am the least handy guy in the world around my
7:13
house. Ask my wife. She'll tell you that. But I can change
7:16
a filter. Why do I need the service to do it for me?
7:18
Well, I'll tell you there are really some big advantages to join this.
7:23
First of all, our filters are custom made, so we come in on
7:29
our first visit and we measure your unit and build a metal frame that is
7:35
a much tighter fit in the unit. It's also heavier. That means when
7:40
the unit kicks on and off, there's less movement in the filter. When
7:44
there's less movement, less is getting around the filter and into your unit.
7:47
So it helps protect your unit. It's going to allow it to work more
7:51
efficiently, saving you up to fifteen percent on energy consumption. And then the
7:58
filter itself that's in there is actually a better quality filter than what you're going
8:03
to buy at the local box stores. So as a result of that,
8:05
you get a better air quality inside. And the fitting of it is crucial.
8:11
It is because all units are and I believe it or not, I
8:15
don't do a lot of handyman type stuff. But I did at one point
8:18
work in the heating and cooling industry in one hundred years ago when I was
8:22
in college. The fitting and getting them in there properly is very important.
8:26
And all the units are installed differently because basically all houses in all places of
8:35
business or whatever, all buildings are built differently, so they're not all going
8:37
to be the same exactly. And you know, there's some of those that
8:41
are really unusual sizes that are hard to find. There's some that are in
8:46
awkward places, you know, cross spaces, addicts, rooftops. It doesn't
8:52
matter where it's located or what size it is, because it is a custom
8:58
made frame on site that first visit. Then you know we're going to get
9:03
that good secure fit for the unit. And how do you calculate how much?
9:07
Because you threw out a figure there about how much. I mean that's
9:09
just an average, of course, but I mean, how does one go
9:13
about calculating how much energy savings and how much how much you want to save
9:16
on your utility bill? Well, I mean you're actually going to end up
9:20
seeing the results of that on your energy bill. You know, once that
9:24
unit performs at its peak and that's that's our goal is to allow that unit
9:28
to work the way it was created to work. And so you will you
9:35
will see the results of that because your unit's not having to work harder.
9:41
Yeah, and it's it's also really crucial to make sure that these are changed
9:46
on a regular basis. Really you shouldn't go any more than ninety days,
9:52
because once you pass that ninety day mark, then the unit's having to work
9:56
harder, and that's going to take away, you know, take away that
10:00
energy savings. Talking to John Lovejoy again for fresh air now we're talking.
10:05
The service is available for residential locations, of course our homes, but also
10:09
for commercial you can do restaurants, you can do churches, you can do
10:13
any kind of but an again, anywhere where there's a structure, you can
10:16
do it right. Absolutely, medical facilities, you know, we like being
10:22
able to provide a medical grade filter to our clients. Do you have if
10:26
you're a business or even as a residence. I guess question that I'll ask
10:31
is can you get set up on like some sort of a contract where where
10:33
you're they're automatically going to come out. I don't have to think about it
10:37
if I've got my business. I don't have to worry about this. You
10:41
automatically come out. Ever, would you say, like ninety days or something
10:43
and do this automatically? We do. There are some different factors that play
10:48
into whether it's a ninety day or you know, more frequently. But yes,
10:52
when you sign up for the service, you know, being that it's
10:56
a metal frame, the filter is a little bit different, and so we
11:00
come out on this regular scheduled basis to change that filter for you. So
11:05
you no longer have to remember when it's time to change the filter, and
11:09
you no longer have to worry about losing that air quality inside. Just show
11:13
it automatically. Absolutely, you can concentrate on your business at that point.
11:16
Exactly important. There's far more important things from a business standpoint, and filters
11:24
are one of those out of sight, out of mind, you know,
11:26
people don't think about it. We'll think about it till you get your bill
11:28
exactly look at it and go, okay, what what can I do here?
11:31
Exactly exactly, So yeah, the service ends up basically paying for itself.
11:39
But Dave Alan swing five any line bright to you by Morgan to Morgan.

11:45
Talking with John Lovejoy of fresh Air. Give me some success stories. I
11:48
mean, I'm sure that you've had plenty out there. Oh, we have
11:52
the well. I got a customer that reached out to me recently that was
11:56
just raving about. It was his first visit and he lives in the East
12:03
end of Charleston in the Historic District and is actually really particular about who he
12:09
allows in his home. And he said, the workmanship that was done by
12:16
our technician, he says, I really felt bad that it's behind a door
12:20
and not being able to be seen. He said it was so nice and
12:24
such a good fit. And you know, he could already tell a difference
12:31
in his home. That's good, you know, within the first couple of
12:33
days. That's what you're going to get when you deal with fresh Air.
12:35
Where can people learn more about your company, the product services, Well,
12:39

17:32
the news and other place is about the need of healthcare workers and there are
17:36
a variety of reasons for that fewer people, fewer people going into the field
17:40
to start with, and quite frankly, we have an aging population in this
17:42
country nowhere is more true in West Virginia than that. So there is a
17:48
demand for healthcare workers and particularly nurses. Ken Wilson is a dean of nursing
17:52
at Bridge Valley and he joins us. Now, Kim, good morning,
17:56
welcome to the show. Good morning. Before we get into the pro I'm
18:00
going to learn something about you. You've never been on the show before.
18:03
Where are you from, your background? And how the world had gin up
18:06
a Bridge Valley. I became a nurse in nineteen ninety one and it was
18:11
after the fact that my mom was diagnosed with cancer and while she was hospitals,
18:17
there was a nurse there and her name was one to call, and
18:19
she was such an inspiration to me for the care that she gave my mom
18:22
that I thought, man, I like everything about her. I like what
18:26
the nursing profession says. So I went to school at the University of Charleston,
18:32
got an associate degree, later went on to WU and got my bachelor's
18:36
and then subsequently did the state thing and went to Marshall and got my master's
18:40
degree. So I've actually been a nurse since nineteen ninety one in higher education
18:45
for more than twenty years. And I've been a nurses i said, for
18:48
more than thirty years. So what some of the highlights of being a nurse
18:52
for you? I mean, what is it that I mean you talked about
18:53
why you got into it, but once you were actually there, what were
18:56
some of the things that you personally gathered from the nursing profession. You know,
19:00
I love the nursing profession. I love the fact that you can care
19:03
for people and you see them at their weakest moments and you're able to help
19:07
them, you know, get to a better state, or in some cases
19:11
when people are at the end of life cycle, you're there with them at
19:14
that time, you know, to demonstrate compassion and caring for not any of
19:18
the patient, but their family as well. So it's a very rewarding career
19:22
in that aspect. Talking again with Ken Wilson, who's the nursing in a
19:26
Bridge Valley, I want to talk about the school of nursing a Bridge Valley
19:30
as a whole. Many people may not even realize Bridge Valley has a nursing
19:33
program, but it's very very successful. Just talk about it as a whole.
19:36
Okay, So a little bit about the history of the nursing program.
19:41
It first started on the campus of West Virginia State University way back in two
19:45
thousand and seven. Subsequently, the legislatures got the legislature got involved and separated
19:51
four year schools and two year schools, and that's when the school became Canall
19:56
Valley Community and Technical College. And then just two years after that, the
20:00
legislature got involved again and saw a need that you know, the Montgomery campus
20:06
and the South Charleston campus, both those schools need to be merged, and
20:10
that's how we end up being Bridge Valley Community and Technical College. So the
20:14
nursing program started way back in two thousand and seven, it's not really that
20:18
old, but since then we've actually graduated thirty six cohorts in eighteen hundred total
20:23
graduates. So it's very important and when people are thinking about nursing school,
20:26
obviously it's a rewarding career. And I want to talk a little bit about
20:30
later on about how many jobs are currently projected to be moving forward. But
20:36
people need to pay particularly attention to certain things when you're looking for a nursing
20:40
school. One of those things is you want to make sure that the school
20:42
is accredited, because if it is not accredited, then people can't continue on
20:47
and get a bachelor's degree, master's degree, et cetera. I also want
20:51
to make sure that you look at the program and make sure it's a quality
20:53
program. Accreditation helps does that. So you know, Bridge Valley has been
20:56
fully accredited since two thousand and seven by the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing
21:03
and the West Virginia are in board. And part of that quality says,
21:07
you know, are they graduating students that are passing their boards on the first
21:11
time. So Bridge Valley has been fortunate that we graduate, you know,
21:17
a tremendous workforce, that students are very knowledgeable, and we've been above the
21:21
national average for first time incleex pass rates since twenty fifteen. Part of the
21:26
reason it makes Bridge values programs such as success is the fact that we have
21:30
qualified faculty. We have like sixteen faculty members that have like over four hundred
21:36
years of professional nursing experience in two hundred years combined of undergraduate nursing education.
21:44
In that we're also fortunate that we have technology and simulation and resources that will
21:48
probably get to it a little bit. But the other thing that makes us
21:52
so good is the fact that we have good partners in our area. You
21:53
know, we're lucky that we have to the state's largest healthcare systems in w
22:00
Edison and Charleston Area Medical Center. That helps us when we're preparing students for
22:03
the workforce, that we have those two clinical entities right whore in our backyard.
22:08
The other thing about Bridge Valley is the fact that going to nursing school
22:11
there it costs about fifteen thousand dollars, which is pretty economical, especially when
22:15
people can essentially go to nursing school free these days because there are so many
22:21
scholarships and grants and things that are out there. West Virginia invests and you
22:25
know, Bridge Valley about a year ago signed an agreement with w Medicine called
22:30
Aspiring Nurse Program where they pay students five thousand dollars a semester and another five
22:34
thousand dollars upon on completion. So es since twenty five thousand dollars just to
22:38
go to nursing school, which is a tremendous assset for people to be able
22:41
to go pretty free it is. Again we're talking to Kent Wilson, who's
22:45
deemed of nursing the Bridge Valley. And you know, one of the things
22:48
I like about Bridge Valley is and I talked with doctor Sacks about this a
22:51
lot when she's on the show too, is that we hear these stories about
22:56
people going away. And I'm not hating on major universities manus strategy imagination,
23:00
but you hear these stories about people going away and then not being able to
23:03
find jobs with Bridge Valley, whether it's nursing or any of the other programs
23:07
that they offer there. It seems like the employers are tripping all over themselves
23:10
to say, we want these people, we want them you. I mean,
23:12
you graduate from the nursing program, and there are some variables in that
23:15
you graduate from the nursing program or any of these programs from Bridge Valley,
23:19
you're pretty much going to have your choice of jobs at that point. Is
23:22
that right? That's true? I mean, which is amazing because again,
23:26
you hear these stories about people that have this degree in something and they're like,
23:30
oh, what the heck am I going to do with it? Not
23:32
an issue especially in the nursing field right now, talk about and I mentioned
23:34
this in the in the intro, talk about the need as a whole for
23:38
healthcare workers. You know, America is getting older, the baby boomers are
23:45
are booming, if you will, and in West Virginia we have the oldest
23:48
population in the nation. Talk about the need for qualified folks in the nursing
23:56
program. Yeah, I still work. When the whole COVID thing happened,
24:00
I thought, Man, I have Arian behind my name who used to work
24:03
at CAMC, So I thought, I reached out to the folks at CAMC
24:07
and I went back working in special part time when the COVID thinks started because
24:11
there was just such a need for people at the bedside because so many people
24:15
were taken out due to COVID. But it surprises me even to this day
24:18
how many healthcare workers across all the disciplines are so short. Pharmacists, social
24:25
workers, physicians. I mean, if you've ever recently tried to get an
24:29
appointment with a physicians, it takes a lot of time, a lot of
24:33
time, a lot of time, and a lot of searching. And are
24:36
you taking new patients are you not? I mean, it's it can be
24:38
difficult, it's very difficult, but as far as the nursing profession, back
24:42
in twenty and twenty two, the National Council of State Boards of Nursing did
24:47
some research and in their research they found, as a result of the COVID
24:51
epidemic, that there was one hundred thousand restaurant nurses and thirty four thousand LPNs
24:56
that I actually left the workforce, so that's pretty recent. They surveyed all
25:02
the restaurant nurses in the US and they found that there's another eight hundred thousand
25:07
nurses and are registered nurses and one hundred and thirty four thousand LPs that planned
25:11
to leave the workforce by twenty twenty seven. That's almost a million nurses.
25:17
And that research they also found why is it let me jump in here,
25:19
why are they leaving? Is it really I mean some of us probably retirement
25:22
in things of that nature, which is understandable, But what are some of
25:25
the reasons why they're leaving? You know? Sixty four percent of those people
25:29
that were surveyed said that it's due to I can increase workload, salaries,
25:33
but stress, it's very stress. Imagine job, yeah, I can imagine.
25:40
So we're trying, you know, to get people involved in these programs.
25:44
And one of the great things about nursing too, you know you talked
25:47
about it, you didn't, I mean from when I gathered from your story,
25:49
you know, you didn't go directly into nursing. I got a high
25:52
school or anything. Nursing is a profession that you can go into at pretty
25:56
much any age if you wanted a career change or whatever. Yeah, I
26:00
was actually thirty and in that research and National Council did at the average age
26:03
of our restauran nurses forty six. So yeah, and also in that research
26:10
that found that there's only like twenty four percent of the workforce as I show
26:12
younger folks. So that's a big challenge moving forward. Just know that there's
26:17
already a shortage. There's a prospective you know, need for nurses that exceeds
26:22
like over a million, and then we're going to add another million on top
26:25
of that. So you know, it's concerning. It is, indeed.
26:27
And one of the things too that I think is really cool that's been going
26:32
on for several years in the public school system is that they have many of
26:37
the high schools around the south of West Virginia and other areas have medical programs
26:41
where students can start in high school and start their training in high school.
26:47
Because nursing is one of those professions I've always said that you have a calling
26:51
to do. There are several that are teaching is another one, maybe emergency
26:53
services is another one, police, fire or whatever. You got to really
26:57
want to do it. And most people that are nurses that my sister's and
27:00
nurse, most people that I know knew from an early age. But that's
27:04
what they wanted to do. So why not get them in those programs early
27:07
maybe in some cases when they're still in the high school. Yeah, that
27:11
brings us to WIE. I mean, Bridge Valley has several opportunities, and
27:15
one of them is the Win Academy, which I'm pretty sure that doctor Sichs
27:19
has probably talked about on the air. But we had What the Wind Academy
27:23
does is it allows high school students to complete their high school graduation requirements but
27:29
also complete some of the general education requirements that's needed for the nursing program,
27:33
but en role as a senior even either in the fall semester or the spring
27:38
semester in the first year of nursing courses. And we actually had two students
27:44
that started doing that this past January. They're extremely bright. We're proud of
27:48
them when I actually got Student of the Month for April out of all Bridge
27:51
and Valley's students. And then this coming file we have a total of nine
27:56
students that are doing that new win academy. So some people think that,
28:00
you know, high school students might not have the mentality or be able to
28:06
handle the stress of going to nursing school and subsequently later on being in the
28:10
clinical setting. What I have found now after these students is that they're very
28:15
well prepared and what it is up doing is getting people in the workforce a
28:18
year earlier than they would have been. So it is a good opportunity.
28:22
Talking with Cant Wilson, I have a question here for you with the tax
28:25
line. Somebody says, does Bridge Valley have any programs to hel LPNs transition
28:30
to rin We most certainly do we have currently. When the program was started
28:36
way back in two thousand and five, we added an LPN to rin Bridge,
28:40
and we also added the first in the state of West Virginia paramedic to
28:44
arian Bridge. But when most recently, when the government expanded nursing programs and
28:52
gave legislative money to nursing programs to expand. We added a votech to RIN
28:56
option. This is people that go to a vocational school such as an LP
29:00
school. We don't want to take their boards, but I want to continue
29:03
to go straight into undergraduate nursing education and become a rest of nurse that can
29:07
transition right into the nursing program. So we have two options for LPNs.
29:12
One is the option that for LPNs that have been in practice for more than
29:17
two years and that places them in the later semester of the second year of
29:22
the nursing program, or the votech option that they can just merge into with
29:26
second semester nursing students. All right, well, good stuff here, and
29:30
I got to let you go, but we'll have you back on again at
29:33
another time to talk about this because this is definitely a need to get nurses
29:37
all trained up and ready to go in into the workforce. Kent Wilson be
29:41

29:42
Thanks, thank you so much for having me. Where can people learn more?
29:45
I talk about the website every day, but go ahead, Yeah,
29:48
most certainly we have nursing program information sessions at Bridge Value, which are welcome
29:52
for people to come. I'd love for people to come and see our new
29:55

30:00

happy to do a tour and talk about the nursing program and auset's opportunities that
30:07
we have at Bridge Valley. Bridge Valley dot needus the website. I appreciate

34:09
Democratic Party Chair Michael Ari Pushkin, Good morning, sir. Hey, what's
34:15
your middle name? Alan? We've talked about this, that's right, I
34:17
thought, well, you know, I think a lot of your listeners might
34:21
think that's your last name. Nobody in radio uses the real name, you
34:23
know that, like Ryan or producer Ryan Nicholson. Yes, Irving Schneider is
34:30
his real name? Really, I just made that up. I couldn't.
34:31
I couldn't think of anything else, but not right, Ryan, As far
34:35
as I know, Ryan is his real name. So as far as we
34:37
know, as far as we know, right, Ryan's kind of sketchy at
34:42
times. He may have maybe wanted in another state for some but I don't
34:45
know. So, man, how are you, man? I'm doing great,
34:50
of course, you know we're There have been talks of a special session
34:52
in May, and now we're starting to hear different dates, which is troubling.
34:59
I hope that the governor and the legislature, my friends on the other
35:01
side of the aisle, can get it together soon for the sake of a
35:04
lot of people who are going through a lot of uncertainty right now, especially
35:08
those who are in the IDD waiver program. We need to get it together,
35:13
a legislature and the governor's office and get in there during the interims and
35:16
fix this mess that was created at the end of the session. Now,
35:20
why would there be different dates? What do you referring to there? I
35:22
mean what I saw some correspondence with some of my colleagues talking about possibly June.
35:30
Of course, we don't have interims scheduled in June, so that would
35:31
be all on the taxpayer's dime. So I'm hoping that we can get it
35:35
together in a one day session in May, and that means to have just
35:38
address the budget issues now. Also, one thing that you know, we
35:43
would like to see is you know, we think it's going to happen,
35:47
No, but we need to talk about it is putting on the ballot constitutional
35:52
amendment to protect women's reproductive freedom. We would like to see that like other
35:57
states have done. But also what we really need to address as some of
36:00
these holes in the budget that were created at the last on the last night
36:04
of the session. But now you and you kind of said this, I
36:07
mean you you don't, I know what you'd want, but you don't actually
36:10
think it's going to be put on the on a ballot of discuss in the
36:14
special session. Right as far as the abortion thing, the constitutional amendment to
36:20
allow you know, women's right to choose and a reproductive freedom, do I
36:23
think a Republican governor, Republican supermajority or are willing to let the people vote
36:29
on that. They they've shown no interest in that. I'd say, what
36:31
are they afraid of are they afraid of that that the people, like just
36:36
like every other state that's been able to vote on it, the people are
36:37
going to choose freedom. I mean a great number of people think that.
36:42
Regardless of whether you consider yourself a pro life, pro choice or whatever,
36:45
there are great number of people that think that the West Virginia law went too
36:49
far. Even even some of those on the pro life movement think that it's
36:53
more severe than what what you're hearing in the news about Florida six week band.
36:57
We have a zero week band. It is a complete and here in
37:00
West Virginia except for a couple of very rare exceptions that don't really exist in
37:06
reality. So yeah, it's a very dangerous law. Let's put the health
37:08
of women at risk, and we think at very least we should let the
37:13
people vote on it. Do you think I stand with our gubernatorial candidate Steve
37:16
Williams, who was calling for that amendment to be put on the ballot.
37:21
You feel pretty confident that if it were to go on the ballot that the
37:27
people of West Virginia would would would would vote Like the other states have the
37:31
EU Yes, like every other state, whether it's red states like Montana,
37:37
Ohio. Yeah, like every other state that where the people have been allowed
37:40
to vote on it, I think that we would go the same way,
37:43
and I think that's what the Republicans are afraid of. Talking with Mike Pushkin
37:46
again, State Democratic Party Chair in delegate. All right, so we're one
37:51
week away from well actually one day away from early voting, two weeks away
37:55
from election day. Your thoughts that voting starts tomorrow. It is a primary
38:00
election, but for you know a lot of folks, it is the election
38:04
was on for the nonpartisan races like the judiciary and the school boards, very
38:08
important races on the ballot. We have municipal elections, some municipal elections here
38:13
in Kanall County as well. So I'd encourage everybody, regardless of your political
38:19
affiliation or ideology, get out and vote. It is our duty and a
38:22
democracy to cast our vote. As State Democratic Party chair, are there any
38:29
big rallies planned for one of your Democratic candidates, Don blanket him? We've
38:34
made it very clear, Look, we're not getting involved in primaries. However,
38:38
we made an exception for mister Blankenship. The Democratic Party West Virginia made
38:43
it very clear how we feel about Don blankenship. We don't care what letter
38:45
he has after his name. This week, everybody knows he's not a Democrat.
38:51
Have you seen the TV ads that he's running. Incredibly bizarre. They're
38:54
a little Don's actually going to be on the show later this week. But
38:59
they're different. I'll say that they're different. Somebody upstairs, one of our
39:04
sales guys. I have to give Larry credit because he said it looked like
39:07
a hostage video. He was very oddly shot. From a cinematic standpoint,
39:16
I'll just say that was very very he did. It looked like he did.
39:19
He was rather frugal with the production expenditure on that on that video.
39:23
But no, it's not ours. So, as I mentioned, I've got
39:29
the TV on here in the studio and we're seeing what's going on at some
39:31
of these universities across America. I mean, you know Columbia, and I
39:36
mean, protests are one thing. I fully fully support anybody's right to protest.
39:43
But when you there's a difference between protests and occupation, and when you
39:46
take over buildings and you are destroying stuff, that's like January sixth, doesn't
39:52
it what you're seeing on the campuses here? I mean that that's a little
39:55
far, little well, I think we're gonna you're gonna find that I agree
39:59
with you this, Dave, and like, just like I was quick to
40:01
come out and say what I thought about January sixth, I believe on your
40:06
show the very next day. Yeah, we all have our First Amendment right
40:10
to free speech. We have a right to peaceful assembly. But when that
40:15
assembly is no longer peaceful and you're keeping other students from getting their education,
40:21
that's a problem. Also have a big problem with with the you know,
40:24
anti Semitic chants, with the universities telling Jewish students that they can't provide to
40:30
make sure that they're safe on campus. You know, they deserve a right
40:34
to an education, and just like every other student on that campus, that
40:37
they paid for product they're not getting. Yeah, at some of those universities,
40:39
they paid a heck of a lot for that product. So yeah,
40:43
I think that that I would, you know, condemn anti semitism in every
40:49
form. I would condemn racism in every form. I do think it's a
40:52
bit hypocritical, And we have some of our local Republican leaders who are very
40:57
quick to speak out about unrest on our college campuses, but don't say a
41:01
word about real Nazis marching down Capitol Street on Saturday now the Republican Party.
41:07
Yeah, And I'll give credit to herriage fishing his statement having heard a lot
41:13
from other elected officials. I mean, I was listening to I believe on
41:17
Hoppy yesterday. I believe Senator Capito was on, and she made it a
41:22
point to go on and on about what was going on on college campuses.
41:25
I agree with much of what she said, but she was silent, silent
41:30
about what happened in her hometown. But I mean when she asked that question,
41:34
by happy though, I mean nobody asked me, Well, you and
41:37
I may have a difference of opinion on this, and I said this on
41:40
the show yesterday. I think we can probably agree that it's very easy to
41:45
condemn real Nazis marching right street right. But I also think, Mike,
41:49
I think there is something to be said for when you see garbage like we
41:52
saw like that, ignoring it, just totally ignored it. Don't give them
41:57
credibility. And there were people down there and and and people I'm friends with
42:00
that were down there, you know, filming it, and you know Facebook
42:05
live in it. And whatever. Don't give them the freaking light of day.
42:07
That's what they want. All they want is legitimacy. And you fell
42:12
not you specifically, but people fell right into their hands by by giving them
42:16
a different way to look at it. I think it's a speak up.
42:19
Be able to speak up and call it what it is also take some courage
42:22
as well. I think that the you know, there's also possibly the reason
42:25
that a lot of folks on the other side of the aisle are are very
42:30
slow to speak up about it. Because when I posted something, there was
42:34
immediately a lot of stuff on on on social media from a segment of the
42:38
Republican Party where they have this conspiracy theory that those aren't that's not a real
42:44
group, that they're actually uh, well, that's that's that's that's on Fox
42:49
News. Well that's on Joe Rogan, that's who's putting this stuff out and
42:54
Fox News. But there's a lot of that's out there, and maybe that's
42:58
why, Uh, folks on the other side of the aisle are so slow.
43:02
That's not representative of the aver of most Republicans. Mike, and you
43:07
can't, you can't, honestly, thanks. But the difference is when you're
43:10
looking at the unrest on college campus. Those aren't Democrats, those aren't Those
43:15
are people who are protesting President Biden's policies. But would you look at January
43:20
sixth, they were wearing Trump hats and waving Trump flags. So while there
43:23
are extremes on both sides, the extremes on the left aren't in charge of
43:28
the Democratic Party, but the extreme on the right are gaining more of a
43:31
foothold than the Republican Party. They become more extreme. I agree, but
43:37
some of what you said. Wait a second, Dave agree. You didn't
43:42
say you don't disagree, say you agree with Mike. You and I agree
43:45
on a lot of things. We agree on a lot of things. All
43:49
right, this is more about we'll cover this stuff. I'm trying to get
43:52
this stuff from Mike. Texas, Jews and Muslims have been killing each other
43:54
for thousands of years over that patch of desert. No amount of college campus
43:59
protests will and the animosity Muslims and Jews have for each other. I think
44:04
that a Patrick debt Well, I support a two state solution. I think
44:09
that was the original un plan. I think that most people who strive for
44:15
peace do support a two state solution or who doesn't support a two state solution
44:22
will be the extremes on either side, whether that's the extreme right or the
44:25
extreme left, often don't support a two state solution, but that is the
44:30
only pathway to peace there. Do you think that this is problematic for Joe
44:35
Biden going forward his handling of of what's going on to there, because there
44:38
are many people on the left who are taking issue with I mean, and
44:44
we're seeing a lot of them at these protests here. Do you think and
44:46
I've political experts are saying this could be very problematic for the election of Joe
44:51
Biden come by the time the fall gets here, is because they don't think
44:54
they don't like his handling of what's going on in that partner world. The
44:58
folks that you're seeing, you know, blocking entrance into universities and occupying university
45:06
those aren't Democrats. I mean, how do you know they're not Democrats?
45:09
Well, they're protesting the policies of the president. I don't see any Biden
45:15
flags or Biden hatching any of these folks. When you saw the storming in
45:19
the capital. Could you count the red ball caps? Could you count the
45:22
Trump flags? Too many to count Yeah. Dave Allen Show on five any

48:38
How does Pushkin feel about these Democrats running as Republicans? Why can't they
48:43
run as what they philosophically are, which is Democrats? Well, I can't
48:47
speak for them. I know that I'm a Democrat because of what I stand
48:51
for. Basic, basic values and ideals that are never going to change.
48:55
You know, people deserve a livable wage, they go to work every day.
49:00
People deserve a reasonable expectation to be safe at the workplace. We deserve
49:06
good schools for our kids. We get sick, we should be able to
49:08
see a doctor. Basic values and principles that make me a Democrat that are
49:14
never going to change. Tex says, you don't see Biden flags of Biden
49:17
hats because literally no one would buy them. Well, I mean, you
49:22
know, there's something to be set. I mean I think it's I think
49:23
it's kind of weird when people you know, around sporting stuff from politicians like
49:29
their rock stars or something. You know, I might wear a Rolling Stones
49:32
or a Grateful Dead shirt, but I don't. I don't go around with
49:35
politicians faces on our jets stuff or yeah, or your jets stuff. But
49:38
yeah, I think it's kind of a weird cultish type thing. When we're
49:42
out there, that's what you see. And you know, in totalitarian countries
49:45
carrying big pictures of their leaders. I hope America never gets like that.
49:51
Texas's push cannot realize that a Republican could walk around saying anti Semitism stuff while
49:54
wearing an I Love Biden hat just to mess with Democrats. I don't.
50:00
I don't know what they I guess they're assuming that that that that was some
50:01
sort of a deep fake that we saw on Saturday. But somebody you said
50:06
that, we're kind of stuck with me saying it's you know, and I
50:07
guess it's a different philosophy saying it's best just left ignored. I am really
50:14
I probably share this with you. I'm pretty much a free speech absolutist,
50:17
all right. I would fight to defend your right to say things, or
50:22
anybody's right to even unpopular speech, and that's usually we're talking about. We're
50:27
talking about free speech, is fighting to defend the right to even say something
50:30
it's unpopular, all right, But the answer, the answer to speech is
50:35
always more speech. I have a right to say what I think about it.
50:39
And I think when good people stay silent, often in history, bad
50:44
things tend to happen. I think if you had a thousand people want to
50:46
speak up, if you'd had a thousand people on the boulevard, yeah,
50:50
well you know what to that. But they had a lot more people at
50:53
the race to end racism down the street. But they came in in the
50:57
back of the U haul truck like they were like a Calvinator or something,
51:00
you know. I mean, nobody really took these people seiuly that part.
51:02
You know. They have a right to walk down the sidewalk and they have
51:06
a right to speak. What they don't have a right to do is ride
51:08
in the back of a box truck without seat belts. Person, I would
51:10
have liked to have seen them get seat belt tickets, every one of them.
51:15
Texas Pushkin for governor. Thanks. You know, I don't think my
51:19
mom's listening, So I don't know who that could have been Texas Biden supporters
51:22
don't wear Biden gear because they're not dupes ready to be conned. There you
51:25
go, thanks, sir, I go texays. Palestinians do not want and
51:30
have not wanted, a two state solution. To stop trying to push that
51:32
lie. From the Washington Institute for Near East Policy of July twenty twenty one,
51:37
less than forty percent of Palestinian public in the West Bank, Gaza and
51:39
East Jerusalem supports a one state alternative. Support for a two state solution has
51:44
declined steadily since twenty eighteen. Most Palestinians want all or nothing. Well,
51:49
I'm saying what I The only pathway to peace is a two state solution.
51:53
And there's still many many factions within Israel that still support a two state solution.
51:59
Who does supported extremists on the left and extremist on the right. That's
52:04
who benefit from the violence. Final text says there are both. There are
52:07
not both sides genocide. There are not both sides of political extremism. Tell
52:12
me the party that actually tries to steal an election and has ratified political violence
52:15

52:24
originally was talking about, hope that the legislature is able to get it together
52:28
for the sake of the people who are facing a whole lot of uncertainty,
52:31
needless uncertainty of their lives because the legislature and the governor have been playing games
52:37
with this budget and it's gonna it's affecting a lot of people. We need
