- 0:44Speaker 1: A special guest though, Rhyin o'riley's going to join us
- 0:46Speaker 1: and speaking of the Olympics, Jamison Coyle, who is JD's

- 0:52Speaker 2: Can't a wait for stories from Jamison.
- 0:55Speaker 3: JD.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Good to see it, body loved the Canada took still
- 0:57Speaker 1: reeling from the heartbreak. But you were there, so you
- 1:00Speaker 1: have the best boots in the eye version of anybody.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I want to start with this because Jamison used this
- 1:04Speaker 1: with you as I was watching you guys at HL
- 1:06Speaker 1: network did a great job recapping everything. Goal saved above
- 1:09Speaker 1: expected four point sixty seven. We should have won this
- 1:12Speaker 1: fucking game four to one. All right, I'm gonna tell
- 1:14Speaker 1: you this.
- 1:16Speaker 4: This son of a bitch Alien Connor Hellibuck stole it.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Stole the gold right from under our noses. Yeah, I
- 1:23Speaker 4: was at four point six, I mean crazy. He was incredible,
- 1:26Speaker 4: and then you know, Canada misses some some open nets.
- 1:30Speaker 4: But well, first off, hi guys, it's good to see y.
- 1:32Speaker 4: You guys are getting my You guys are getting my
- 1:35Speaker 4: like Matt Damon and the Martian Man Communist manifestos, being
- 1:40Speaker 4: like I'm stuck here in the shitty hotel.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I wanted to point to that because the originally Tal's
- 1:44Speaker 1: idea was going to have you joined and then you're like, oh,
- 1:46Speaker 1: there's no way we'll do WhatsApp. Bender was worried about
- 1:48Speaker 1: the Wi Fi issue. There was a lot of controversy
- 1:50Speaker 1: around how.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Great was the Wi Fi too. Benders is trying to
- 1:54Speaker 4: get me out of this. He's trying to kick me
- 1:55Speaker 4: off make it too anyway, if it's a controversial talking
- 1:59Speaker 4: about cash Betel.
- 2:01Speaker 2: That's the other part of the study.
- 2:02Speaker 1: We we pride ourselves here of being non political, right,
- 2:06Speaker 1: we don't touch this stuff. And then Tal said, hey,
- 2:08Speaker 1: I'd rather not do it, and you.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Jump in, youre go and know we're doing it. You said,
- 2:11Speaker 2: I don't care. What's that you want? I want to
- 2:12Speaker 2: talk Cash Paateel, I.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Go no, Hey, Cash, Patel proved he's a nerd.
- 2:17Speaker 3: I'm not one.
- 2:18Speaker 4: I don't lean one side or the other. All I
- 2:20Speaker 4: wanted to the comment I wanted to make, and you
- 2:23Speaker 4: guys were just all scared if we you know, the
- 2:26Speaker 4: little JD. Give him the mic, let him go, don't
- 2:28Speaker 4: mute me. Don't you cut this towel.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I want to say one thing. We don't have enough
- 2:32Speaker 2: followers to piss off either side.
- 2:33Speaker 5: That's it.
- 2:35Speaker 2: You love everybody left right. I don't give a crap.
- 2:37Speaker 4: All good our followers bleed neither color. We are unscripted,
- 2:41Speaker 4: we are unpolitical. We are it's all. They all want
- 2:44Speaker 4: you boxes anyway. Doesn't matter, JD.
- 2:47Speaker 2: You made on politics?
- 2:48Speaker 3: Was this?
- 2:48Speaker 2: They all want your money.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Go ahead, that's it, Thank you, Cash. It doesn't matter
- 2:52Speaker 4: if you're a politician, head of the FBI, whatever the
- 2:55Speaker 4: fuck he is, head of the rock Star. Everybody wants
- 2:59Speaker 4: a party with the hockey guys. Scotti Gomas once said,
- 3:01Speaker 4: any room you walk into, all you gotta say is
- 3:04Speaker 4: everybody wants to be with the hockey player. That's it.
- 3:06Speaker 4: They all want to be with him. And he goes,
- 3:08Speaker 4: you just got to walk in, and he did. He
- 3:10Speaker 4: didn't even finish his beer anyway.
- 3:13Speaker 1: But he's just he's using the FBI jet just to
- 3:15Speaker 1: hang out with these things.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Yeah, just wait, just as a make a wish man here,
- 3:19Speaker 4: taxpayer money making them make a wish thing happen anyway.
- 3:23Speaker 4: I mean, listen, Trump proved it right by proved all
- 3:27Speaker 4: of US Canadians right that we knew something was afoot
- 3:29Speaker 4: and a miss that Connor Hellbuck was the only reason
- 3:33Speaker 4: the Team USA beat us with his goalsave above expected.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Everybody's like, oh, you're crying. I mean they give him
- 3:38Speaker 4: the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Amazing couple days for this
- 3:42Speaker 4: guy that you know has kind of been marred by
- 3:45Speaker 4: not winning the big ones. So I think for him,
- 3:48Speaker 4: you know, he was just incredible. You know, McKinnon misses
- 3:50Speaker 4: an open net. I thought Canada their foot on the gas.
- 3:53Speaker 4: I was on the plane ride back with Team Cannon
- 3:56Speaker 4: on the charter nice so when I when I went
- 3:59Speaker 4: to Milan. I was on the NHL charter which had
- 4:02Speaker 4: Team Chechia and seems to aia. That was a lot
- 4:05Speaker 4: of fun. They're all pounding beers in the lounge before
- 4:08Speaker 4: and I was like, oh shit, they're going to play
- 4:09Speaker 4: the Olympics. It's like vacation.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Did you did you.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Talk to your ice Levkowski You're like Thomas Tatar.
- 4:13Speaker 4: I talked to Hurdle, Gouddhas, Yeah, I talked to Goudas.
- 4:19Speaker 4: I talked to spot Check. You know, a couple of
- 4:22Speaker 4: those guys Chernac just quickly, Hey, what's up. You know
- 4:25Speaker 4: we're on that they rented out. They had three charters go.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Each one had like sixty people on it for a
- 4:33Speaker 4: five hundred seedar So I was like it was amazing.
- 4:36Speaker 4: So I was like I could just lay out flat.
- 4:38Speaker 4: So I had a nice flight there. On the way back,
- 4:40Speaker 4: I was with Team Canada though a little somber, but
- 4:43Speaker 4: it was really cool.
- 4:43Speaker 2: You know.
- 4:44Speaker 4: The cool thing to see about that is the minute
- 4:47Speaker 4: it was over and the minute they're on the plane,
- 4:51Speaker 4: all these guys are running around with their kids on
- 4:52Speaker 4: the plane. They have to be Dad of the year
- 4:54Speaker 4: on this ten eleven hour flight, you know, they're they're
- 4:58Speaker 4: you know them and the wives are chasing Tom Wilson's
- 5:00Speaker 4: chasing his kid around, who was just a who was
- 5:03Speaker 4: just a hilarious on the plane. He was a little
- 5:05Speaker 4: devil running around just trying to cause him uck. You know,
- 5:08Speaker 4: bohr Van had his three kids. So I like, at
- 5:10Speaker 4: the end of the day, these guys are humans. They're
- 5:13Speaker 4: they're they're athletes. At first they're representing Team Canada, but
- 5:15Speaker 4: it's back to you know, being a dad. And you know,
- 5:18Speaker 4: I talked to Tom Wilson a little bit and was like,
- 5:21Speaker 4: how you guys feeling, And every single one of those
- 5:23Speaker 4: Canadian guys were like in disbelief that they lost. They're
- 5:27Speaker 4: just like, we played our best game of the tournament
- 5:29Speaker 4: and we lost and it's just it was it was crazy.
- 5:32Speaker 4: They're like, we thought we had it. But they're like, listen,
- 5:34Speaker 4: hell Buck played amazing. And you know, I asked him
- 5:37Speaker 4: about having a kid. He's like, listen, it's been the
- 5:39Speaker 4: best thing for me playing because he's like, when I
- 5:41Speaker 4: finish a game like this, lose a big game, you know,
- 5:45Speaker 4: lose the gold medal, I come on the plane and
- 5:46Speaker 4: I can't think about it because I got to worry
- 5:48Speaker 4: about my kids. So he's like, it allows me to
- 5:50Speaker 4: kind of the perspective of everything. So that kind of
- 5:52Speaker 4: gave me the perspective that we're all us. Fans were like,
- 5:55Speaker 4: fucking Christ Almighty, you screw Usa, screw Canada. But my
- 6:01Speaker 4: whole point of all this going there, and I realized
- 6:05Speaker 4: in the plane was like, the biggest winner of this
- 6:08Speaker 4: was NHL and the NHL fan bases. It brought people together.
- 6:12Speaker 4: It you know, we poked fun at Canada, Canada poked
- 6:15Speaker 4: fun at US. Every country kind of had their own
- 6:18Speaker 4: little shot in the dark, but it did what it
- 6:21Speaker 4: the Olympics is meant to do, and it's the showcase
- 6:24Speaker 4: every country and bring everybody together. And I thought they
- 6:26Speaker 4: did a great job of that. And if you couldn't
- 6:29Speaker 4: write the script of this game finals, the whole tournament,
- 6:34Speaker 4: if you had the best screenwriter of all time and
- 6:37Speaker 4: the best director of all time, you could not have
- 6:39Speaker 4: written a better script for how this tournament played out.
- 6:42Speaker 4: And as sadly as it is to see Canada lose,
- 6:46Speaker 4: the way in which they lost and the way in
- 6:48Speaker 4: which USA won is kind of the best possible outcome
- 6:52Speaker 4: for NHL and hockey in terms of growing the game.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah, not to say if.
- 6:57Speaker 1: You can objectively remove yourself in the situation and say,
- 7:00Speaker 1: if Canada won, well that's kind of what was expected.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You know, Yankees Red Sox get it's interesting. Once the
- 7:05Speaker 1: Red Sox finally wins, she's like, okay, now it's a rivalry.
- 7:07Speaker 1: So the US, they finally won, they beat us, And
- 7:09Speaker 1: you're right from a Canadian perspective, you played your best.
- 7:12Speaker 2: It was a dogged effort. It was you know, you
- 7:13Speaker 2: should have won the game. But at the end of day,
- 7:15Speaker 2: Americans win.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Now two years till World Cup, okay, then four years
- 7:18Speaker 1: from the next Olympics, Canada, You've got my attention now,
- 7:21Speaker 1: like we have woken the fuck up. We gotta win
- 7:23Speaker 1: this shit now, all right, we got it. So you're
- 7:24Speaker 1: right as just a fan of hockey, like for USA hockey, dude,
- 7:27Speaker 1: forty six years since they won a gold medal.
- 7:30Speaker 2: This is a population ten times our countries.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Think how many kids are going to pick up a
- 7:33Speaker 1: hockey stick and say, let me give this a shot
- 7:35Speaker 1: after what I just saw on television.
- 7:37Speaker 4: That's that's that's the main point to take it. I mean,
- 7:39Speaker 4: they've been on a little bit of a runaway right now.
- 7:41Speaker 4: We gotta we gotta pick it up. World Championships, Helenka Cup.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I mean, the US Women's put on an absolute shit
- 7:48Speaker 4: kicking of everybody other than the gold medal game where
- 7:51Speaker 4: Canada played their best game of the tournament, and we're
- 7:53Speaker 4: kind of robbed again because Aaron Frankel. I mean, give
- 7:57Speaker 4: give the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Aaron Frankel. She
- 8:00Speaker 4: was fucking lights out.
- 8:02Speaker 2: That's another thing too.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm trying to tell people women's hockey we're
- 8:05Speaker 1: the decided underdogs. They've wut seven straight against us, Like,
- 8:08Speaker 1: I do not have feel good about this. The fact
- 8:09Speaker 1: that Kennon was leading one nothing with two its left
- 8:11Speaker 1: in the third, valiant effort by our women.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yeah, they should have won that one too. Is another one.
- 8:15Speaker 4: They're gonna kick themselves for it, but listen it. It
- 8:19Speaker 4: was a great moment for hockey. It was a great
- 8:23Speaker 4: moment for the Olympics. I thought Olympics having NHL players back,
- 8:27Speaker 4: I thought they couldn't have done any better. A couple
- 8:29Speaker 4: of injuries unfortunate. Yeah, well they got pin Air and
- 8:33Speaker 4: they got the bread Man though, So the good timing
- 8:35Speaker 4: for the bread Man. Fucking good timing there, But yeah,
- 8:39Speaker 4: I it was that game was the fans was in.
- 8:44Speaker 4: The Canadian fans showed up and drove more than the
- 8:46Speaker 4: US fans.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Did you were you in coyl just standing like where
- 8:50Speaker 2: was the No?
- 8:51Speaker 4: So, like the whole joke of it was like we
- 8:53Speaker 4: got there and like, you know, we're with this obs,
- 8:56Speaker 4: you know this this world View feed and NBC we
- 8:59Speaker 4: had this weird title, and when we got there, they're like,
- 9:02Speaker 4: you guys aren't gonna be able to sit anywhere, Like,
- 9:04Speaker 4: you guys are gonna have to sit in the press
- 9:06Speaker 4: seats that are like in the rafters and the fucking
- 9:08Speaker 4: nose bleeds, and they're like you can't get up. If
- 9:11Speaker 4: you get up, there's a spot or that sees the
- 9:15Speaker 4: empty seat and fills it with a waiting media person
- 9:18Speaker 4: or something. So we're like we get there, we get
- 9:20Speaker 4: their Day one gent lags and I'm like, there's no
- 9:22Speaker 4: there's no fucking way, like I'm leaving tomorrow if I
- 9:24Speaker 4: don't have a seat to this. So we're like trying
- 9:27Speaker 4: to figure it out. We kind of like Day one
- 9:30Speaker 4: were there the first game and we're like, okay, let's
- 9:33Speaker 4: like kind of see where we can go. So we
- 9:35Speaker 4: ended up like kind of walking to the the broadcast
- 9:38Speaker 4: area and there's all they had all these like table
- 9:39Speaker 4: set up for all the worldwide broadcasts, and there's this
- 9:42Speaker 4: one table called and you can ask JMO called OBS
- 9:45Speaker 4: thirty two, and it was like it had no broadcast monitors,
- 9:50Speaker 4: nothing on it, so like no one was broadcasting. We
- 9:53Speaker 4: just kind of like casually sit down and we had
- 9:57Speaker 4: some people come over to us. They're like, hey, what's
- 10:00Speaker 4: going on, Like what's this and that. I'm like, oh no,
- 10:01Speaker 4: you know, we're just we're with NBC and NHL and
- 10:05Speaker 4: we're just gonna sit here. It's like there's not many
- 10:06Speaker 4: people in the stands. It's like we're just gonna we're
- 10:09Speaker 4: sit there where our computer's out. And they're like, all right,
- 10:11Speaker 4: just like you know, this thing's usually rented out, so
- 10:14Speaker 4: if it gets rented out, you guys can't sit here.
- 10:16Speaker 4: I'm like, great, fine, I look at Jami. I go
- 10:19Speaker 4: i gotta start ingraining myself with the locals here. I said,
- 10:21Speaker 4: I'm gonna make all these volunteers love me, and we're
- 10:24Speaker 4: gonna become part of the tournament. Like we're gonna be here.
- 10:27Speaker 4: So I'm up dancing with the volunteers. I'm going by
- 10:29Speaker 4: High Five and everybody. I'm like talking to the OBS
- 10:33Speaker 4: crew and I'm like and then we're getting I'm like,
- 10:35Speaker 4: we got to get early for every game we come to.
- 10:37Speaker 4: It's we're like, okay, so we get every single game
- 10:41Speaker 4: we get early. We're like there, like an hour before
- 10:44Speaker 4: the game, we set up our laptops. We kind of
- 10:46Speaker 4: like start sitting down High five and all the volunteers,
- 10:49Speaker 4: you know, asking me, you want a water, you want
- 10:51Speaker 4: a coffee. We end up getting through the whole tournament
- 10:54Speaker 4: at that table and obs olbs thirty two. And then
- 11:00Speaker 4: so everybody, like all the media people, they're all like
- 11:03Speaker 4: having a kind of some of them, like the press
- 11:06Speaker 4: area had some seats, but everybody's wondering where we were sitting.
- 11:08Speaker 4: And we were like we ended up having like the
- 11:10Speaker 4: best seat in the house for all the games. And
- 11:12Speaker 4: then the last game, the finals, we show up, you know,
- 11:16Speaker 4: tables covered littered with cords. They're like, you guys, can't
- 11:19Speaker 4: sit there. Apparently Snoop Dogg rented it out for his friends,
- 11:24Speaker 4: his twelve buddies, but he also has twelve seats in
- 11:26Speaker 4: the arena and three sweet tickets and I'm like, fuck you, Snoop,
- 11:30Speaker 4: like come on, yeah, come on, like come on. So
- 11:33Speaker 4: we're like we ended up at the start of the
- 11:34Speaker 4: game in that up against the wall and the nosebleeds
- 11:38Speaker 4: and they're like we swim started talking everybody at NBC
- 11:41Speaker 4: and you know Eric Dwyers with us and Nicole Fierro
- 11:44Speaker 4: who helped us. They were great. They were like telling
- 11:46Speaker 4: NBC if he doesn't show up, because he might not,
- 11:49Speaker 4: we get the table awesome right before puck drop, we
- 11:52Speaker 4: just get the text snoops a no show, get down here.
- 11:55Speaker 4: We're sprinting OHBS thirty two. So we had like a
- 11:59Speaker 4: desk for the whole tournament. It was fucking fantastic. So
- 12:03Speaker 4: I ended up working out and and like it was
- 12:06Speaker 4: just so funny that like, you know, I'm basically like
- 12:09Speaker 4: hitting on volunteers.
- 12:10Speaker 2: No that's not you know that you can go along
- 12:13Speaker 2: with with a kind word and a smile.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Well, I'm you know, it was a little bit. I
- 12:16Speaker 4: told the wife. I was like, I got to get
- 12:17Speaker 4: these seats, so I will do anything for Country and
- 12:21Speaker 4: NHL Network. So I'm like I am just laying it
- 12:23Speaker 4: on thick with everyone so and I was like, there
- 12:28Speaker 4: was no possible way that I am not. I am
- 12:30Speaker 4: just I am just laying it on thick. And I
- 12:33Speaker 4: ended up we ended up getting a great seat for
- 12:35Speaker 4: a great tournament. And uh yeah it was. It was
- 12:38Speaker 4: a It was a wild set up though, but Santa
- 12:40Speaker 4: Julia was nice. Rink wasn't a bad seat in the house.
- 12:43Speaker 1: There wasn't for all the conjecture, but whether or not
- 12:45Speaker 1: that drink the ice ray, I didn't hear one word
- 12:47Speaker 1: about some Assuming everything do work out well, I thought,
- 12:49Speaker 1: perhaps on Jack Hughes Jacques to consider what you want
- 12:53Speaker 1: about Hellibuck for years now Jack Hughes, who has not
- 12:55Speaker 1: had a great season with the Devil's he was good,
- 12:57Speaker 1: got hurt back, I mean forever now he'll be immortalized.
- 13:00Speaker 2: The Mike Ruzioni of this hockey team. Unbelievable.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Yeah, ah man, what a what a tournament, What a
- 13:06Speaker 4: sound bite for him. You know all he starts like
- 13:10Speaker 4: not really playing at the start of the tournament. You know,
- 13:11Speaker 4: he's getting like a minute, two minutes, and then built
- 13:13Speaker 4: himself up as it went. He's so great, you know,
- 13:18Speaker 4: it was so funny. We interviewed him when he won,
- 13:20Speaker 4: and what a sound bite he had of how he dreamed,
- 13:23Speaker 4: not he dreamed, but you know he obviously dreamed of
- 13:26Speaker 4: scoring that goal. But you know the whole we posted
- 13:29Speaker 4: on social media of him and Quinn were in the
- 13:32Speaker 4: same you know, bunk barracks. He called him the barracks
- 13:36Speaker 4: at the Olympic village and he said he rolled over.
- 13:38Speaker 4: He couldn't fall asleep. It was two in the morning,
- 13:40Speaker 4: and Quinn said, what are you thinking about? And he said,
- 13:42Speaker 4: I'm thinking about scoring the golden goal and you know
- 13:45Speaker 4: about my goal in overtime, and then you talk about
- 13:48Speaker 4: manifesting and what you can do when you really put
- 13:51Speaker 4: your mind to something, and fuck, it's crazy'd even think
- 13:54Speaker 4: that that's what he was talking about the night before
- 13:57Speaker 4: gets the goal. Fuck him, because he ripped my heart
- 14:00Speaker 4: out of my chest. I yelled a huge fuck in
- 14:04Speaker 4: the state.
- 14:04Speaker 2: And you're next to Coyle who's pumping his fist, and oh,
- 14:06Speaker 2: I was.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Everybody in my group was Americans. Everybody's cheering woooooooo and
- 14:12Speaker 4: I was just dejected. But you know, what a moment
- 14:16Speaker 4: for Team USA. You know, Meredith gudrou is there, the
- 14:19Speaker 4: Gudreaux family. You know, I can't not talk about that,
- 14:23Speaker 4: and they bring his jersey on the ice. His jersey
- 14:27Speaker 4: was in the locker room. They bring his kids on
- 14:28Speaker 4: the ice for the picture. Just an amazing move. Meredith
- 14:32Speaker 4: wasn't even didn't even want to come, and then she
- 14:35Speaker 4: was like, we have to come here for this. You know,
- 14:39Speaker 4: we find out that his child right now, you know,
- 14:43Speaker 4: Johnny induced her. So it was like on the day
- 14:45Speaker 4: of the miracle on ice a Eruzione goal, So like
- 14:50Speaker 4: kid turns too, and it's like on that day that's
- 14:53Speaker 4: the birthday was on Saturday, the game was one on Sunday,
- 14:56Speaker 4: or it was on Sunday. It was on the exact day.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Jack Hughes scored and you know, Jamison was able to
- 15:02Speaker 4: interview her and stuff like that, and it was so
- 15:04Speaker 4: such a touching, heartfelt moment, really deep and kind of
- 15:09Speaker 4: you know you as a Canadian. I was like, ah,
- 15:11Speaker 4: you know what, listen, that's that's a fitting end to
- 15:15Speaker 4: a crazy tournament, right.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent well said.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And the fact that is Caudrow's teammates Zach Warnsky sets
- 15:20Speaker 1: up Hughes's golden goal. You see how much he's been
- 15:22Speaker 1: trying to carry the memory of Johnny there. It is
- 15:24Speaker 1: absolutely something you can feel for the US side that
- 15:26Speaker 1: at least able to win went for Gudreau.
- 15:28Speaker 2: From Canada side. It's not enough to say, of course
- 15:31Speaker 2: that it was closed. We did our best. Now all the.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Handwringing begins, people criticizing maybe some of the line combinations
- 15:36Speaker 1: from Coop saying that perhaps connorra Darter, Matthew Schaeffer but
- 15:39Speaker 1: had been there. What was the impact of not having
- 15:42Speaker 1: Sidney Crosby.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Your thoughts on some of.
- 15:43Speaker 4: That, I mean absolute hogwash. I mean, they're the best
- 15:47Speaker 4: team in the tournament for the whole tournament, regardless of
- 15:52Speaker 4: who was on the back end. Bennington answered the questions, right,
- 15:56Speaker 4: you know, you look at the injury to Crosby and
- 15:59Speaker 4: we can all say that, you know, if Crosby was
- 16:01Speaker 4: in they would have won. But again, they still dominated
- 16:04Speaker 4: US for three periods. You know, they other than the
- 16:06Speaker 4: first five to ten minutes of the game. After that
- 16:09Speaker 4: they had you know, us flipping pucks out like Finland
- 16:12Speaker 4: looking like Finland, and it was Connor helbukstole game. And
- 16:16Speaker 4: in a short tournament like that, anything can happen, can
- 16:19Speaker 4: be upset all you want. But I thought Coop put
- 16:21Speaker 4: on a mat like people were knots. I thought poop, God,
- 16:25Speaker 4: Jesus Christ, not poop. I thought Coop put a masterclass
- 16:28Speaker 4: of line changing combinations. In that final game. He was
- 16:31Speaker 4: like playing shell games with Tom Wilson. He was putting
- 16:35Speaker 4: McKinnon on the top line, then McKinnon at center with
- 16:37Speaker 4: Stone and Marner. Then he was putting McDavid at center
- 16:41Speaker 4: with Stone and Marner. Then he was putting Wilson with
- 16:45Speaker 4: the chaos line that which was Bennett and Marsha. Then
- 16:48Speaker 4: he was moving like Suzuki around and I just thought
- 16:51Speaker 4: he like had Sullivan in an absolute blender. They couldn't
- 16:54Speaker 4: figure out what was going on. They tried to move
- 16:56Speaker 4: Chuck to the third line because he wasn't doing much,
- 16:59Speaker 4: and then, you know, I just thought he just one
- 17:02Speaker 4: goal an empty net. You know, McKinnon misses two breakaways,
- 17:08Speaker 4: the saved by Connor Hellibuck. I mean, it should have
- 17:10Speaker 4: been four or five one easily.
- 17:11Speaker 1: But it is more agonizing moment which I've been replaying
- 17:16Speaker 1: in my head, Taves being robbed by Hellibuck or McKinnon
- 17:19Speaker 1: missing the open net.
- 17:21Speaker 4: McKinnon missing the open net, because that save is just
- 17:25Speaker 4: brilliance of Connor Hellibuck in that game, and oh not
- 17:32Speaker 4: this fucking guy.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And here to taunt us is Jamison Coyle. Is a
- 17:35Speaker 1: phenomenal job of an NHL network. Ahead, finish your.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Point, JD.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Then we'll bring in Jamo.
- 17:39Speaker 4: Jamison, he just asked me, And I'll wrap it to
- 17:41Speaker 4: you after I'm sick of seeing this.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I said, more agonizing moment for Canadians, the stop Hellibuck
- 17:47Speaker 1: made on Taves or McKinnon missing the open net.
- 17:49Speaker 4: And I said, McKinnon missing the open net because he
- 17:51Speaker 4: buries those one hundred times out of one hundred and
- 17:54Speaker 4: one times. But uh, Connor Hellbuck was absolutely incredible to you,
- 17:58Speaker 4: Jamison Coyle sack of shit.
- 18:00Speaker 2: But I want to.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Mention this Jamo Obs thirty two, believable, magical moment, something
- 18:05Speaker 1: we'll have forever.
- 18:06Speaker 5: Obs thirty two, have you given the rundown of Obs thirty.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Two explained it in detail?
- 18:10Speaker 5: Oh, it's the best. I mean, the gift that keeps
- 18:12Speaker 5: on giving. We hope it's still there in twenty thirty
- 18:15Speaker 5: for us in the French Alps.
- 18:16Speaker 2: I imagine that you guys are just standing.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I know what it's like, you know, Media access maybe
- 18:19Speaker 1: you can get in maybe a camp and if you are,
- 18:21Speaker 1: you're stuck in a tunnel.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Some of you're bairely able to watch.
- 18:23Speaker 6: It.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Sounds like you guys got the royal VIP treatment, yfforting
- 18:26Speaker 1: with some of the women there being nice to people.
- 18:27Speaker 1: All of sudden you get your own table.
- 18:29Speaker 5: It started on day one and we weren't sure if
- 18:31Speaker 5: we were gonna have it past the very first game.
- 18:33Speaker 5: And there we are sitting gold medal game, honestly waiting
- 18:36Speaker 5: for whether or not Snoop Dogg and his posse was
- 18:39Speaker 5: going to show up. We got word that they weren't,
- 18:41Speaker 5: and we're next in line. So it goes from Snoop
- 18:43Speaker 5: to jameson Coil, Jason Murr's that's that's the fecking order.
- 18:48Speaker 1: It was an incredible tournament. And again, my kids are American,
- 18:51Speaker 1: my wife's America.
- 18:52Speaker 2: I live in America.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I can try to put us out michayr roots and
- 18:55Speaker 1: feel what this must mean for USA hockey forty six years. Jamis,
- 18:58Speaker 1: since you guys have won one of these, we're gonna
- 18:59Speaker 1: have Tony Luffin being sufferable. Unfortunately, that's the croadal damage
- 19:02Speaker 1: of this. But as somebody who knows bleeds hockey.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Like you do.
- 19:05Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know if you can put any
- 19:06Speaker 2: words with the spans for Americans.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's huge because I mean I wasn't
- 19:10Speaker 5: alive when nineteen eighty happened, but you just kind of
- 19:12Speaker 5: heard about it and all the implications of that, and
- 19:16Speaker 5: forty six years is a long drought, right, so you're
- 19:19Speaker 5: kind of you're waiting for that next miracle, so to speak,
- 19:22Speaker 5: to happen. And this wasn't the miracle it was, you know,
- 19:25Speaker 5: it was magical what it was with you know, NHL
- 19:28Speaker 5: players being back in the Olympics for the first time
- 19:30Speaker 5: in twelve years, and it was just the perfect script
- 19:33Speaker 5: with the way both teams kind of got to that
- 19:36Speaker 5: point and then USA Canada going to overtime like it was.
- 19:40Speaker 5: It captivated the audience and they couldn't have couldn't have
- 19:43Speaker 5: played out any better. If you're an American fan, American
- 19:47Speaker 5: hockey player, a kid even thinking about wanting to try
- 19:51Speaker 5: the sport, like it's it's just we don't know what
- 19:54Speaker 5: the impact is going to be and maybe, you know,
- 19:56Speaker 5: twenty years from now, we can look back on it
- 19:58Speaker 5: and say, you know, there's gonna be kids out there saying, yeah,
- 20:01Speaker 5: I watched that game. That's when I wanted to try hockey.
- 20:04Speaker 5: And you know, those are the next kids that might
- 20:06Speaker 5: be playing for gold, you know, down the road and stuff.
- 20:09Speaker 5: So I don't even think we know the implications of
- 20:12Speaker 5: what took place in Milan just yet.
- 20:15Speaker 4: I do for myself because I bet Eddie Olchuck. I
- 20:21Speaker 4: bet Edzo a thousand bucks that Canada would win. The
- 20:24Speaker 4: fucking robbed me of that. And then Edzo was sweating
- 20:27Speaker 4: the whole game too. He kept walking by being like,
- 20:29Speaker 4: I'm in trouble here. I was trying to give him
- 20:32Speaker 4: a buyout. And then the worst one of it is
- 20:34Speaker 4: you mentioned Tony Luffman. Is I made a bet with
- 20:36Speaker 4: Tony Luffman. If Canada won, I have a three piece
- 20:40Speaker 4: yellow suit he had to wear on air, Yes, but
- 20:43Speaker 4: if US one, I had to wear his his short
- 20:47Speaker 4: tie in one of his button.
- 20:49Speaker 5: Dusts, which is just a normal Tuesday outfit for him.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Shout out to Edzel, though, did a fantastic job on
- 20:56Speaker 1: the broadcast, particularly in two ways. One he pointed out
- 20:59Speaker 1: USA should have been called for two wy men on
- 21:00Speaker 1: the ice, which again he's being completely objective he's a
- 21:02Speaker 1: proud American, but he's like, now let's have a penalty
- 21:04Speaker 1: and going into overtime. He said to Kenny Albert, he goes,
- 21:07Speaker 1: best chance for USA is we gotta get this thing
- 21:09Speaker 1: to overtime.
- 21:09Speaker 2: It should be for one Canada right now. They should
- 21:11Speaker 2: not even be in this game.
- 21:12Speaker 1: So Edso was very honest, which always appreciate his analysis.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Despite the fact that you took a thousand bucks from.
- 21:16Speaker 4: Jd and and I'm not going to pay that either, Jamo.
- 21:21Speaker 5: But hold on, what did he ed Edo is a
- 21:24Speaker 5: great guy, but he's got to get up with the times.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Because he kept saying, you gotta elmo me instead of
- 21:28Speaker 5: venmo me.
- 21:29Speaker 7: He called it.
- 21:30Speaker 5: He called it elmo It was. We were cracking up
- 21:34Speaker 5: the entire tournament. It was so funny.
- 21:35Speaker 1: The more important as Jo is about you guys together
- 21:38Speaker 1: two weeks of you and Jason Demurs. I mean this
- 21:40Speaker 1: seems like a planes, trains, and automobile type of situation.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, I've been wearing the same underworse since Tuesday.
- 21:45Speaker 2: What was it like together?
- 21:47Speaker 5: Well, I was promised that he wouldn't be on the
- 21:48Speaker 5: podcast this morning. It was the only way you could
- 21:50Speaker 5: get me here and then I show up and he's
- 21:52Speaker 5: I got to see his face again. No, in all seriousness,
- 21:55Speaker 5: it was. It was great. I told him yesterday and
- 21:57Speaker 5: I've been telling you know, my wife and everybody since
- 22:00Speaker 5: I've been back that, you know, working with JD is
- 22:04Speaker 5: he he's the perfect partner because he pushes you out
- 22:07Speaker 5: of your comfort zone but to places that make you
- 22:10Speaker 5: better kind of thing. You know, he's one of those
- 22:13Speaker 5: guys and I'll put it into sports perspective, he makes
- 22:15Speaker 5: he makes people around him better and stuff. So it
- 22:18Speaker 5: was a blast both on and off the ice, you know,
- 22:21Speaker 5: whether or not we were doing our actual work in
- 22:24Speaker 5: the arenas and whatnot, or if it was before work
- 22:26Speaker 5: and hey, let's go grab lunch here. I know this place, that.
- 22:29Speaker 4: Place like he is.
- 22:30Speaker 5: I mean, you know, he's he's a world traveler. He
- 22:33Speaker 5: he knows great food and great people and he's a
- 22:37Speaker 5: great person to be around. And I, like I told
- 22:39Speaker 5: him yesterday, I couldn't have picked a better partner to
- 22:42Speaker 5: do the Olympics with.
- 22:43Speaker 3: It was.
- 22:43Speaker 5: It exceeded all expectations and he was a big part
- 22:46Speaker 5: of that. What do you are you are you recording
- 22:47Speaker 5: this just to like log this thing?
- 22:49Speaker 3: What do you do say that?
- 22:50Speaker 4: Say that again.
- 22:51Speaker 2: He's gonna send that to Steve Tronzo.
- 22:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a very beautiful considered way of saying.
- 22:59Speaker 2: JD holds people accountable.
- 23:01Speaker 5: He does, He's gonna put yeah, but when it's time
- 23:04Speaker 5: to he works. But he has a blast doing it.
- 23:07Speaker 5: And it was an incredible experience and I have him
- 23:10Speaker 5: to thank for a lot of it.
- 23:12Speaker 4: We held some people accountable.
- 23:15Speaker 5: There were ups and downs in the middle. It was
- 23:17Speaker 5: therapy sessions. It was it was we had a little
- 23:20Speaker 5: bit of everything we had.
- 23:21Speaker 4: I introduced them to a little amorro mon and agro
- 23:24Speaker 4: at the end of the night, and we were just
- 23:27Speaker 4: every night. It went from having just a little one
- 23:29Speaker 4: at the end of the night. So he was like,
- 23:30Speaker 4: I ordered three and went up to my room watched
- 23:33Speaker 4: my kids hockey game.
- 23:35Speaker 5: But the one time, so his wife came halfway through
- 23:38Speaker 5: the trip, and you know, he was kind of he
- 23:40Speaker 5: was I would follow in his footsteps. We're going here.
- 23:44Speaker 5: He would take care of the ordering and stuff. The
- 23:45Speaker 5: one day that I didn't go with him, but he
- 23:47Speaker 5: told me a local spot to go. I got steamrolled.
- 23:51Speaker 5: As an American tourist. I didn't know whether to order
- 23:54Speaker 5: at the counter sit down. I forty five minutes of
- 23:57Speaker 5: people just looking at me, and I couldn't figure out
- 24:00Speaker 5: how this operation worked. End of the day, it ended
- 24:03Speaker 5: up being a terrific salm much, but my goodness was
- 24:05Speaker 5: at a grind and I missed my my translator and
- 24:08Speaker 5: my tour guide.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Speaking of being lost in translation, I don't know which
- 24:13Speaker 1: countries fans were the worst, boorish, negative, just just well.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Jamison is like they he got the key to the
- 24:22Speaker 4: city of check you in Prague because he was posting
- 24:25Speaker 4: fan videos. And the one thing Jamison got into you
- 24:28Speaker 4: got a little you got a little taste for not
- 24:30Speaker 4: pie goal, you got a little taste for editing on
- 24:33Speaker 4: social media and posting clips he was. He was fucking
- 24:36Speaker 4: viral more times than suits dog on this trip.
- 24:39Speaker 5: The content kings. But yeah, so a lot of time
- 24:42Speaker 5: at the rink right between games and whatnot. So he's like, oh,
- 24:45Speaker 5: you got to check out this app and he showed
- 24:47Speaker 5: me at auto captions and all that stuff. That was
- 24:50Speaker 5: the sort of a terrible thing for me going down the.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Media.
- 24:55Speaker 5: But I'm going dark until the next trip, Like I
- 24:57Speaker 5: got kids and stuff like that. So I'm home I
- 24:59Speaker 5: don't have time for it anymore. It's when I'm on
- 25:01Speaker 5: the road I can edit like I'm made a maniac
- 25:03Speaker 5: until four am. Now you won't see another post from
- 25:06Speaker 5: me till June Cup Final.
- 25:09Speaker 4: Well tell them about talk a little bit about the
- 25:12Speaker 4: chech fan base one and then our trip to the
- 25:16Speaker 4: Chechia house where you got berated by Jacob Orchek.
- 25:19Speaker 5: Yeah, so so just I think one of the coolest
- 25:23Speaker 5: parts about the Olympics was experiencing the different atmospheres in
- 25:27Speaker 5: the rank and the cultures and how the Europeans love
- 25:30Speaker 5: to celebrate their hockey. And so there was one Check
- 25:33Speaker 5: was playing somebody in the group play and they scored
- 25:36Speaker 5: a goal and I just pulled out my phone and
- 25:38Speaker 5: took a video and they were singing, dancing, jumping up
- 25:41Speaker 5: and down, waving flags and they didn't stop like the
- 25:44Speaker 5: rest of the game. So I posted maybe just a
- 25:46Speaker 5: ten second thing of like check fans must be exhausted
- 25:48Speaker 5: by the time this game's over, and nice thing. You know,
- 25:52Speaker 5: it's got seven hundred thousand views. It's all over, check ya,
- 25:56Speaker 5: Like my followers doubled. They're all Checks now, Like it's crazy.
- 26:01Speaker 5: We're big, We're big. In check right now. And then
- 26:05Speaker 5: we went to the check house and got to hang
- 26:07Speaker 5: out with Jake Vorchek, which was awesome but also a
- 26:10Speaker 5: nightmare because I ended up having five beers before lunch
- 26:14Speaker 5: and we had to work three games the rest.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Like I was buckled.
- 26:20Speaker 5: But it was such a great experience. But he every
- 26:22Speaker 5: time we'd go to tape something or do something new,
- 26:25Speaker 5: he was like, drink up, cheers up, You've got a
- 26:27Speaker 5: little left drink and he was essentially bullying me. So
- 26:31Speaker 5: what am I gonna do? Back down from that? It
- 26:33Speaker 5: was like Jock verse nerd. I couldn't get swirlied again
- 26:36Speaker 5: like in high school. So I had to so again
- 26:39Speaker 5: five beers after that, and then once we got done
- 26:42Speaker 5: taping the segment, I told Demerz. I was like, dude,
- 26:44Speaker 5: I gotta get some lunch. So we went. I crossed
- 26:46Speaker 5: a whole pizza like a salad, like I had to.
- 26:49Speaker 5: I had to get myself right for the four o'clock
- 26:51Speaker 5: hockey game.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Jacob Vorchik play a little bullyball, like Bob Bender
- 26:55Speaker 1: crushed me.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Bob Bender, Hey, Jamison.
- 26:58Speaker 8: I had to ask, like, I'm so fat, you know,
- 27:01Speaker 8: we see you guys in Milan and we see you too,
- 27:04Speaker 8: you know, doing the job, having fun covering the game,
- 27:07Speaker 8: so we all know what's going on. But people say
- 27:09Speaker 8: to the fact that there is a camera crew following
- 27:11Speaker 8: you around at the event. So I'd love to know
- 27:14Speaker 8: what what is the response from just people, because you
- 27:17Speaker 8: got all these people there from all over the world,
- 27:19Speaker 8: maybe some of them have had a few drinks by
- 27:21Speaker 8: the time they get there, and then all of a sudden,
- 27:23Speaker 8: here's NHL Network with the cameraman. Oh, I know these guys,
- 27:26Speaker 8: or look, there's we can be on TV.
- 27:29Speaker 4: Mosquitoes.
- 27:30Speaker 8: What's the response like just from people and fans when
- 27:32Speaker 8: they suddenly see you guys, you know, walking around with
- 27:35Speaker 8: a camera.
- 27:36Speaker 5: It's not us, but as soon as they see that camera,
- 27:38Speaker 5: it is. I mean, they swarm, Like you said, mosquitoes.
- 27:41Speaker 5: But anytime we would tape our end of the day
- 27:45Speaker 5: wrap out on the plaza outside the rain after every game,
- 27:47Speaker 5: those lights would go on, it was I mean, the
- 27:50Speaker 5: drunks would swarm and we were swatting them away, just trying.
- 27:54Speaker 4: To fall almost We fought a couple of Americans.
- 27:56Speaker 5: You did, you did? They were, they were tough at
- 27:58Speaker 5: the end of the night. But I think I remember
- 28:01Speaker 5: doing the Man on the Street where we just went
- 28:03Speaker 5: out with the camera crew interview and that was one
- 28:05Speaker 5: of the one of the most fun things I think
- 28:07Speaker 5: we did because all walks of life interesting people. Yeah,
- 28:12Speaker 5: it was just yeah, oh.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Yes, yeah.
- 28:14Speaker 4: We're asking fan bases, you know, drunk fan bases on camera,
- 28:18Speaker 4: put in a mic in their face saying like, what's
- 28:20Speaker 4: who's your favorite? If you know, let's say it was
- 28:23Speaker 4: the check and we're talking about David Pasternak, what kind
- 28:26Speaker 4: of Italian dish would he be if he was an
- 28:28Speaker 4: Italian pasta? And the fucking answers incredible, incredible? What was
- 28:33Speaker 4: the one rat? The guy's favorite players? Rastus just the
- 28:36Speaker 4: line in and we're like, what what do you compare
- 28:38Speaker 4: him to an Italian dish? He's like pasta carbona, he
- 28:41Speaker 4: goes heavy.
- 28:42Speaker 5: He's of the one guy who was, Hey, if you
- 28:45Speaker 5: could steal any player from another nation, who would have
- 28:47Speaker 5: been He goes got the McGregor and the boys.
- 28:51Speaker 2: The boys just lost it.
- 28:52Speaker 5: And the one guy's like, I think you met McDavid
- 28:55Speaker 5: Ooh that's icing like it was. It was unbelievable.
- 28:59Speaker 4: The best one was the guy said, he goes William
- 29:02Speaker 4: Niland is a finished guy. He goes William Nilander. He's
- 29:05Speaker 4: like a pasta that's missing something. He goes a little salt.
- 29:09Speaker 4: They're a little spice, very good, but missing something.
- 29:13Speaker 5: Some of those answers were Hall of Fame worthy, incredible stuff.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Last thought, Jim on, then we'll let you go best
- 29:19Speaker 1: Mealia had tell me all about the food.
- 29:21Speaker 5: Oh man, up, I know we.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Had a couple of week.
- 29:26Speaker 5: Had we started off? Yeah, I mean before the game
- 29:31Speaker 5: got Yeah, coffee with was great again following JD's lead.
- 29:37Speaker 5: It was a place that he had gone previously in
- 29:40Speaker 5: the summertime, Salu Maria or what was it, Jitty.
- 29:44Speaker 4: Il Salumeo di Monte Napoleon.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:47Speaker 5: See that's that's that's the difference between me and him.
- 29:50Speaker 5: So he gets us there. But that was I think
- 29:53Speaker 5: night one or two or something. It was early on,
- 29:55Speaker 5: but it was just it was a fantastic just classic
- 29:59Speaker 5: Italian meal, good wine, good company. Yeah, it was my
- 30:03Speaker 5: favorite and the was incredible. Although we did so there's
- 30:07Speaker 5: pin trading is huge at the Olympics, right, so we
- 30:10Speaker 5: got one pin each come over at the NHL Crest
- 30:14Speaker 5: and it just says NHL, I don't even know if
- 30:15Speaker 5: it said twenty twenty six or whatnot. So Demurs being
- 30:18Speaker 5: the translators, Oh, there's a pin. This the waiter was
- 30:21Speaker 5: wearing this really cool pin. He's like, oh, where'd you
- 30:23Speaker 5: get that pin? I think he said it was it's
- 30:25Speaker 5: from the King of Luxembourg or something, probably lying to us.
- 30:28Speaker 5: But he goes, oh, what's that pin. I was like, Oh,
- 30:31Speaker 5: that's an NHL pin. He goes, can I see it?
- 30:32Speaker 5: I was like sure, and so Demurse hands it to him.
- 30:35Speaker 5: The guy goes, oh, thank you very much and then
- 30:36Speaker 5: walks away. It took my pin and I didn't get
- 30:39Speaker 5: one in return. So that was that was the start
- 30:42Speaker 5: and the finish of my pin trading at the Olympics.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Oh my god, I kill the Olympics and I lose
- 30:47Speaker 2: my pin.
- 30:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:48Speaker 4: Well, we asked the guy too. We're like, you give
- 30:50Speaker 4: us the other pin. He's like, no, no, I can't
- 30:52Speaker 4: do that. It's from the President. You said pen trade right.
- 30:56Speaker 5: Game over see you in twenty thirty. I'll be more prepared.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Jabob Savidson called phenomenal job as always an ahl Rick
- 31:04Speaker 1: and with Jason Demurs, I said it your stat off
- 31:06Speaker 1: the topice.
- 31:07Speaker 2: I keep reciting to myself. Goal saved.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Hbouve expected four point sixty seven. We should have won
- 31:10Speaker 1: this freaking thing for one. But great job by you,
- 31:13Speaker 1: Great job by America. Congrats and stories to tell.
- 31:17Speaker 2: With you and JD. Here's from now the Coil Annals.
- 31:20Speaker 4: He's the best. Thanks guys.
- 31:21Speaker 5: I don't want to see your face again till Cup Finals.
- 31:23Speaker 5: See you.
- 31:24Speaker 4: I'll see you tomorrow. I moved you.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Oh all right, great stuff there from Jamison Cole.
- 31:29Speaker 3: We come back.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Our special guest is Ryan O'Reilly. Get his thoughts on
- 31:33Speaker 1: what happened in Italy. Plus the Nashville Predators famously turned
- 31:38Speaker 1: their season around when a team trip to see you
- 31:40Speaker 1: two a sphere was canceled.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Get his thoughts on YouTube and sphere after this.
- 31:58Speaker 4: And our next guest was drafted in the second round,
- 32:01Speaker 4: thirty third overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the two
- 32:03Speaker 4: thousand and nine n H Draft. He's currently in his
- 32:05Speaker 4: eighteenth NHL season, having played more than twelve hundred career
- 32:09Speaker 4: games with the Avs, Sabers, Blues, Maple Leafs and Predators.
- 32:12Speaker 4: He won the cons Mike Trophy in twenty nineteen as
- 32:15Speaker 4: a member of the Stanley Cup champion Saint Louis Blues
- 32:17Speaker 4: and is joined by his good friend and former teammates.
- 32:21Speaker 4: Together they form the children's music act Mac and Cheese.
- 32:25Speaker 4: It's Ryan O'Reilly and Kelly James. What's up? Boys going on?
- 32:30Speaker 9: Thanks for having us.
- 32:31Speaker 4: I got to get into it quickly right away, and
- 32:33Speaker 4: just say for everybody, all the listeners, what the hell
- 32:37Speaker 4: is Mac and Cheese? And just getting through the inception
- 32:40Speaker 4: and everything. You guys take it away, go.
- 32:42Speaker 10: Ahead, Yeah, I guess yeah, Mac and Cheese is our
- 32:47Speaker 10: children's music band that we formed what a couple of
- 32:52Speaker 10: years ago. Yeah, me and Kelly, like I said, played
- 32:56Speaker 10: junior hockey together. Became very close right away and connected
- 32:59Speaker 10: over music and film and a lot of stuff. And
- 33:03Speaker 10: Kelly's super creative, and yeah, we you know, got into music,
- 33:07Speaker 10: started playing guitars, and yeah, I started getting better and better,
- 33:11Speaker 10: and eventually I had kids and kind of shifted from
- 33:16Speaker 10: playing what we want to play to how do we
- 33:20Speaker 10: make our kids laugh? And you know it's not uh,
- 33:23Speaker 10: you know, hey play pearl jam, it's hey, play a
- 33:25Speaker 10: poop song, play a song about a chicken. And so
- 33:29Speaker 10: we kind of started making these songs and just trying
- 33:32Speaker 10: to make them laugh, and it kind of kind.
- 33:35Speaker 9: Of kind of steam steamrolling a bit.
- 33:36Speaker 10: And my wife, you know, was like, you know, we
- 33:39Speaker 10: had to make these more accessible so I can just
- 33:41Speaker 10: put them on right in the car and we can
- 33:42Speaker 10: send them to our friends and family. And so, yeah,
- 33:46Speaker 10: two summers ago we kind of made a plan like, hey,
- 33:48Speaker 10: let's let's go into a studio. We got hooked up
- 33:50Speaker 10: with a guy from Oshawall Chris Kimmer, who's Thomas Htz drummer.
- 33:54Speaker 10: He's got his own studio down here, he's been here
- 33:56Speaker 10: for years, and we got connected with him and came
- 33:59Speaker 10: in with these songs and yeah, he just kind of
- 34:03Speaker 10: loved him, got on board, and we try to do
- 34:04Speaker 10: them as good as possible. And yeah, the feedback on
- 34:08Speaker 10: has been great. It's been a hilarious, fun hobby that
- 34:12Speaker 10: you know, we've probably had times taken a little too serious,
- 34:15Speaker 10: but seriously, but it's been so much fun. It's just
- 34:18Speaker 10: a fun thing that we're trying to get out there
- 34:20Speaker 10: to share some people and we're enjoying it.
- 34:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 34:23Speaker 11: I have a daughter who's almost three and obsessed with
- 34:26Speaker 11: mac and cheese. I think she wants to eat all
- 34:29Speaker 11: the time, is mac and cheese.
- 34:30Speaker 3: And so do I.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Sometimes.
- 34:33Speaker 11: But what you know, what got you into music? Like
- 34:37Speaker 11: what is there someone in your family or was it
- 34:40Speaker 11: just you know, I want to do this. I love it,
- 34:43Speaker 11: I liked you know, it's a good outlet for me.
- 34:45Speaker 9: Yeah, I've always been into the music growing up. Neither
- 34:49Speaker 9: of my parents.
- 34:49Speaker 10: Played instruments, but my dad was you know, we had
- 34:53Speaker 10: a great voice and could just you know, sing a cappella,
- 34:56Speaker 10: you know, right anytime he wanted and would, so there
- 35:00Speaker 10: was a lot of music in the family. And yeah,
- 35:02Speaker 10: it wasn't until I think it was tenth grade that
- 35:06Speaker 10: my parents got me a guitar and kind of started
- 35:08Speaker 10: to learn on YouTube. And you know, once I got
- 35:10Speaker 10: to the NHL was able to buy a nicer guitar
- 35:12Speaker 10: and that's when I started really getting into it more.
- 35:14Speaker 10: But as you guys know, there's so much downtime with
- 35:16Speaker 10: hockey and you know, instead of kind of playing video games,
- 35:19Speaker 10: I was like, I just put a little folks into
- 35:20Speaker 10: the guitar and to learn that and it's just something. Yeah,
- 35:24Speaker 10: it's been such a just a great escape, a great outlet.
- 35:27Speaker 10: And they never thought in a million years that you know,
- 35:29Speaker 10: we have a children's album out there. Promoting and and
- 35:34Speaker 10: sharing with the world. But you know, it's it's a
- 35:36Speaker 10: final thing. And I know Kelly too is very musical,
- 35:39Speaker 10: and does you know it does a lot of acting
- 35:40Speaker 10: as well, so very creative and it's just been a
- 35:43Speaker 10: great project we've been doing together.
- 35:44Speaker 4: Well, Kelly, we you know, it's remarkable what you guys
- 35:47Speaker 4: are doing and how you put this together. I think
- 35:49Speaker 4: any foray into music or acting is difficult. But just
- 35:53Speaker 4: let's get to you and tell us about your background
- 35:55Speaker 4: hockey career and then how it transitioned into you know,
- 35:59Speaker 4: movies and film and now music with this son of
- 36:02Speaker 4: a bitch fact daddy, you gotta.
- 36:06Speaker 10: Tell them about Spanish kretz Sky by the way too,
- 36:07Speaker 10: Yeah that's Kelly's known as Spanish Gretzky.
- 36:11Speaker 6: So yeah, I played in the Spanish the Spanish Hockey League,
- 36:14Speaker 6: but we won a championship there, so I always like
- 36:16Speaker 6: to joke around that I was the Spanish gret Ski there.
- 36:19Speaker 6: I wore ninety nine for the first game. Didn't have
- 36:21Speaker 6: my jersey ready, so no, you just think it was
- 36:24Speaker 6: between like I swear with one ninety nine because they
- 36:28Speaker 6: didn't have my jersey ready, and all the boys are
- 36:30Speaker 6: like don't do it. Don't do it, and I'm like,
- 36:32Speaker 6: I'm gonna do it. I played terrible that game too.
- 36:34Speaker 6: I was like never doing that again. It was just
- 36:36Speaker 6: like the curse happened. But now I always joked Spanish
- 36:39Speaker 6: gret Ski out there. So but yeah, going back to
- 36:44Speaker 6: like this whole project and stuff, like Ryan was saying, Yeah,
- 36:49Speaker 6: like in junior and stuff, you kind of like, I've
- 36:51Speaker 6: always grown up like kind of really into like music, film,
- 36:54Speaker 6: TV and stuff like that.
- 36:55Speaker 7: And then when me and Ryan met in.
- 36:56Speaker 6: Eerie, you know, you you find guys that you connect
- 37:00Speaker 6: with like outside of hockey because the hockey things so
- 37:02Speaker 6: built in and easy or something right, and obviously we
- 37:04Speaker 6: love hockey and go to the rink work so hard
- 37:06Speaker 6: and there's so much of that downtime, and you know,
- 37:09Speaker 6: getting into other stuff was big for me and Ryan.
- 37:11Speaker 6: And I think, like you said, what kind of got us?
- 37:15Speaker 6: And I would say like both, like again my parents
- 37:17Speaker 6: and his parents. I think there was something like funny
- 37:19Speaker 6: about our sense of humors and like musical stuff going
- 37:24Speaker 6: on in our houses that were maybe a little eclectic
- 37:26Speaker 6: and stuff. So I know we connected on like different
- 37:28Speaker 6: types of music, maybe not such mainstream stuff and you know,
- 37:32Speaker 6: when we were younger, it was a lot of like
- 37:33Speaker 6: alexis on Fire or was coming out and all that
- 37:35Speaker 6: stuff that was ours. But there was also like the
- 37:37Speaker 6: old school stuff like motown stuff that means Snoop would
- 37:40Speaker 6: be listening to in the car, which is, you know,
- 37:42Speaker 6: not necessarily what every fifteen sixteen year olds listened to
- 37:44Speaker 6: or something. So I know we connected a lot on that.
- 37:47Speaker 6: And when I was always playing, I always just had
- 37:50Speaker 6: this like, you know, creative energy inside that I found
- 37:53Speaker 6: was maybe difficult to get out while you're playing and
- 37:55Speaker 6: stuff like that. So having that outlet when you're you know,
- 37:58Speaker 6: on the road, having a guitar in your hand or something,
- 38:00Speaker 6: there's just something like.
- 38:03Speaker 7: Nice about that.
- 38:04Speaker 6: It's relaxing or something, and you're using that like there's
- 38:07Speaker 6: something of burning energy I think inside of people who
- 38:09Speaker 6: have a creative energy that just needs to come out
- 38:11Speaker 6: in some way. And and I think that when I
- 38:15Speaker 6: was done playing, I was like, man, I really got
- 38:17Speaker 6: to attack that.
- 38:17Speaker 7: And I know what's cool about like.
- 38:19Speaker 6: Guys like Ryan and other NHL's we have other interests
- 38:22Speaker 6: who were able to sort of you know, do it
- 38:25Speaker 6: all in a way, you know what I mean, Like
- 38:26Speaker 6: that Ryan's known to be like one of the hardest
- 38:28Speaker 6: working guys, if not the hardest working guy in the league,
- 38:30Speaker 6: but he still has you know, other thoughts and other
- 38:32Speaker 6: creative energies and things.
- 38:33Speaker 7: Like that going on.
- 38:34Speaker 6: And I think it was just like kind of a
- 38:37Speaker 6: perfect timing too, of him being in Nashville when you know,
- 38:41Speaker 6: we had this idea kind of a long time ago
- 38:43Speaker 6: that was sort of sparked off of us going to
- 38:46Speaker 6: a Raffie concert with his kids, and you know, we're
- 38:50Speaker 6: big concert junkies, just you know a lot. We love
- 38:52Speaker 6: seeing concerts all types of different music like and so
- 38:56Speaker 6: we're always, you know, so impressed that you know, these
- 38:58Speaker 6: big name musicians, you know, Eddie Vedder or something at
- 39:01Speaker 6: a Pearl gam concert. And so when he had kids
- 39:03Speaker 6: and we went to this Raffi we kind of didn't
- 39:05Speaker 6: know what to expect, and then he just put on
- 39:07Speaker 6: such a show that we were like blown away, like
- 39:09Speaker 6: you know, it's almost the same and you look around
- 39:12Speaker 6: and you see the feeling that kids are getting feels
- 39:14Speaker 6: like how when we were at like a My Morning
- 39:17Speaker 6: Jacket concert or something like that. So it was just
- 39:19Speaker 6: something that we're like, man, this is so cool. Like imagine,
- 39:22Speaker 6: like what what if we went down that path or something.
- 39:25Speaker 6: So it was just sort of a bit of a
- 39:26Speaker 6: joke like at first, and what if we were children's musicians,
- 39:29Speaker 6: maybe if we didn't play hockey, maybe we would have
- 39:31Speaker 6: done that or something like that, right, And it sort
- 39:33Speaker 6: of started a tongue in cheek joke. And then, like
- 39:35Speaker 6: you said, around the house with all his kids, it's
- 39:38Speaker 6: just so fun to like entertain them with guitars and
- 39:40Speaker 6: just like silly songs and stuff like that. So it
- 39:43Speaker 6: grew from there and it's just one of those like
- 39:45Speaker 6: again talking about that like creative energy that needs to
- 39:47Speaker 6: come out. Once we were in the studio, man, it
- 39:49Speaker 6: was one of the most fun fun times we have
- 39:51Speaker 6: ever had. And like obviously outside of hockey. I mean,
- 39:54Speaker 6: I swear I don't know how much if I've ever
- 39:56Speaker 6: had a more fun time in the studio making it.
- 39:58Speaker 6: And we were lucky enough to have these really talented
- 40:00Speaker 6: musicians come in and really elevate the music that we had.
- 40:04Speaker 6: You know, we're doing children's music, so it's really silly stuff,
- 40:07Speaker 6: but we had some of these musicians in there that
- 40:09Speaker 6: are working on some really high end music, right, So
- 40:12Speaker 6: I mean it was just like a blast and honestly
- 40:15Speaker 6: it was just one of the coolest experiences ever just
- 40:17Speaker 6: making this album.
- 40:19Speaker 11: The the name Mac and Cheese, Like is there is
- 40:22Speaker 11: there a hidden meeting to it?
- 40:23Speaker 3: Like is it because? Like is or is it just kids?
- 40:27Speaker 9: Like cheeze geeze.
- 40:31Speaker 3: And the second you got I got out?
- 40:35Speaker 4: I like this, Kelly, I gotta I gott it?
- 40:41Speaker 3: Is there?
- 40:42Speaker 9: Uh?
- 40:43Speaker 3: Like is there a chance?
- 40:44Speaker 11: Like are you guys thinking about maybe doing concerts for kids?
- 40:48Speaker 11: Like is it is that? Is that an option? Like,
- 40:50Speaker 11: is is that something you guys thought about?
- 40:53Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 40:54Speaker 10: Yeah, I think we want to obviously do some live
- 40:56Speaker 10: stuff and you know, are still even like Nashville too.
- 40:59Speaker 10: I've got requests from you know, my kids teachers to
- 41:01Speaker 10: come in and play, which is cool and we want to. Yeah,
- 41:05Speaker 10: definitely do that, but uh, you know it means if
- 41:08Speaker 10: it goes well and go on tour, I don't know
- 41:10Speaker 10: if that's Uh, that'll be an interesting conversation with my wife.
- 41:14Speaker 10: Just retired from hockey and next you know, I'm on
- 41:16Speaker 10: the road doing children's music.
- 41:17Speaker 9: Uh, probably probably won't be happening.
- 41:19Speaker 4: But life on the road.
- 41:22Speaker 9: But no, we do, uh we do laugh Like there's
- 41:25Speaker 9: so many.
- 41:25Speaker 10: There's so much depth, I guess to this project, and
- 41:27Speaker 10: we had so many people come get involved that are
- 41:30Speaker 10: trying to help us expand it. And you know, we
- 41:32Speaker 10: have that big mascots being made of our characters and
- 41:37Speaker 10: you know they've talked, but potentially, you know a lot
- 41:40Speaker 10: of people I guess for kids music, they you know,
- 41:41Speaker 10: they want to see Mac and Cheese. You know, they
- 41:43Speaker 10: don't want to see Ryan and Kelly. They want to
- 41:45Speaker 10: see Mac and Cheese. And so if we you know,
- 41:47Speaker 10: build these characters, it could be someone going and you know,
- 41:49Speaker 10: going performing these songs and you know we're able to
- 41:52Speaker 10: kind of could be home with my kids and we
- 41:54Speaker 10: can continue to write music and stuff like that.
- 41:56Speaker 9: So it's kind of a direction we've thought about.
- 41:58Speaker 10: We still obviously want to be able to perform live
- 42:00Speaker 10: and you know, play for the kids, and we've you know,
- 42:03Speaker 10: practice and played around a few kids already and had
- 42:05Speaker 10: a blast with it, which was a lot of fun.
- 42:07Speaker 10: And I don't know, Kell, if you want to explain
- 42:09Speaker 10: the name how we got to Mac and Cheese.
- 42:11Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I mean, just as you guys said,
- 42:13Speaker 6: like I feel like it was one of those things
- 42:15Speaker 6: that was while like that, like that spark of the
- 42:17Speaker 6: Raffi concert, we kind of kept going and going. Every
- 42:19Speaker 6: time we were together, we would just sort of like stop,
- 42:21Speaker 6: talk about it some more.
- 42:22Speaker 7: And I don't know.
- 42:23Speaker 6: Who blurted it out first, but we literally might have
- 42:25Speaker 6: had mac and Cheese sitting out in front of us
- 42:26Speaker 6: with a kid, a couple of Ryan's kids and been like,
- 42:29Speaker 6: mac and cheese. I could be Mac, you could be cheat.
- 42:31Speaker 6: Like it was something weird like that, and my friends
- 42:34Speaker 6: back home would probably laugh to say that, because I
- 42:36Speaker 6: was always one of those guys you ordered extra cheese
- 42:38Speaker 6: on pizza, you know, loved mac and cheese and stuff.
- 42:40Speaker 6: So I feel like all my buddies back home are
- 42:42Speaker 6: laughing now, like, of course you're you're the cheese and
- 42:45Speaker 6: the mac and cheese.
- 42:46Speaker 7: We knew that, but I don't know.
- 42:47Speaker 6: It was sort of just like Kisman in a way
- 42:49Speaker 6: where like, you know, it kind of blurted out and
- 42:51Speaker 6: we're like, yeah, you could be Mac, I could be cheese.
- 42:53Speaker 6: Oh what if you had a noodle head? And what
- 42:54Speaker 6: if I had a cheese head. It just sort of
- 42:56Speaker 6: kept tumbling down, and honestly, it was one of those
- 42:58Speaker 6: nights I think where it was just like me Ryan,
- 43:01Speaker 6: his wife and my girlfriend kind of just sitting around,
- 43:03Speaker 6: maybe had a glass and we're just like this is
- 43:06Speaker 6: this is really funny and like you know, like you know,
- 43:08Speaker 6: the wise and girlfriends are really supportive about it and stuff,
- 43:11Speaker 6: and I think sometimes they they might have been too
- 43:13Speaker 6: supportive with.
- 43:14Speaker 7: Uh, with how far we've taken it.
- 43:17Speaker 9: Uh yeah, they come around.
- 43:21Speaker 7: Yeah, my god.
- 43:23Speaker 4: I mean and then I mean, if you spent any
- 43:26Speaker 4: time with if you spend any time with factor, you
- 43:28Speaker 4: know that you get them. You have a glass of
- 43:31Speaker 4: wine or something and the guitar comes out. So I
- 43:33Speaker 4: can only imagine some of the songs that you guys
- 43:35Speaker 4: have cooking kind of inside and that are gonna come
- 43:38Speaker 4: out eventually. I wanted to ask, like both of you,
- 43:41Speaker 4: you know, girlfriend for you, Kelly, and and obviously day
- 43:44Speaker 4: and around with you, but also your kids, like are
- 43:46Speaker 4: you more known for the hockey side or is it
- 43:49Speaker 4: more the music side now that Do the kids like
- 43:51Speaker 4: you more for and and and your girlfriend for you? Kelly?
- 43:56Speaker 6: Well, I'll just from my perspective, I think it's hilarious
- 43:58Speaker 6: because I mean, you know, being around the rink, I know,
- 44:00Speaker 6: for you guys and stuff for hockey players being able
- 44:03Speaker 6: to have your kids around the rink is such a
- 44:04Speaker 6: cool thing, right. I know when Ryan first started having
- 44:07Speaker 6: his kids, like he was so excited to start having
- 44:09Speaker 6: them around the rink, getting gear on them and stuff,
- 44:11Speaker 6: and you know, I always thought like, you know, when
- 44:13Speaker 6: kids are older, are they going to like clue into
- 44:15Speaker 6: like how cool that experience was. And you know, Ryan's
- 44:17Speaker 6: been kids for a long time and his kids are
- 44:19Speaker 6: getting older, so they're pretty conscious now of like what's
- 44:22Speaker 6: going on around them. And then like, you know, two
- 44:24Speaker 6: years ago, we had them coming into the studio visiting
- 44:27Speaker 6: me and Ryan and they're running around the studio grabbing
- 44:29Speaker 6: stuff and me and Ryan are going into a booth singing, and.
- 44:32Speaker 7: I had that same thought again.
- 44:33Speaker 6: I was like, these kids are gonna have no clue
- 44:35Speaker 6: what Ryan did growing up?
- 44:37Speaker 7: Like was he a musician?
- 44:39Speaker 2: Was not?
- 44:40Speaker 7: Like what did he do?
- 44:41Speaker 6: Like I'm sure right now at school they're like, what
- 44:43Speaker 6: does your dad? Dude, they're like a singer?
- 44:45Speaker 5: Hockey player?
- 44:46Speaker 7: Is that a thing? Like? You know, yeah, I think
- 44:49Speaker 7: it's like.
- 44:52Speaker 6: Especially like his kids and his wife is just like
- 44:54Speaker 6: such a like cause you know, being a hockey player
- 44:56Speaker 6: is so special and so cool and getting this opportunity
- 44:59Speaker 6: was such another like kind of cool thing.
- 45:02Speaker 9: Yeah, definitely. H I was gonna say, it's definitely.
- 45:05Speaker 10: I know we laughed about that, like you know, they're
- 45:08Speaker 10: gonna look back and you know, ten fifteen years and
- 45:10Speaker 10: just be like what, like what the hell is dad doing?
- 45:13Speaker 9: Like like they're just what's kind of insane?
- 45:17Speaker 10: Look, we just think it's hilarious. But yeah, they like
- 45:19Speaker 10: it's just hilarious. Sometimes we're out like up in where
- 45:22Speaker 10: I am right now and Kelly our jam and trying
- 45:24Speaker 10: to write songs, and the kids come in and like,
- 45:27Speaker 10: you know, we're making chicken noises and doing you know,
- 45:30Speaker 10: dolphin noises and trying to find the right sound and
- 45:33Speaker 10: the like.
- 45:34Speaker 9: Just their perspective, Like I said, it's just it's so funny.
- 45:36Speaker 10: Just it's its own little thing in itself, but it is, Uh,
- 45:40Speaker 10: I know, it's gonna be funny down the road to
- 45:42Speaker 10: see what they think.
- 45:43Speaker 11: Well, my daughter's a cocoa melan girl. So she's off
- 45:46Speaker 11: cocomela and now she's gonna be going mac and cheese.
- 45:48Speaker 7: Now, yeah, we gotta get her on the mack.
- 45:49Speaker 3: Oh yeah, mac and cheese.
- 45:50Speaker 11: No more coco melan mac pizza, all right, we're gonna
- 45:56Speaker 11: get in the hockey stuff now and right.
- 45:58Speaker 3: This is for you.
- 45:59Speaker 11: I you know, my former teammate, good buddy, and now
- 46:02Speaker 11: your teammate. You know, he had a bit of a
- 46:03Speaker 11: rough start, but now he's been scoring goals for you
- 46:06Speaker 11: guys left and rights. You know Steven stamp Coast. You know,
- 46:08Speaker 11: he's been a huge part of your team this year.
- 46:10Speaker 11: You know, talk about him.
- 46:11Speaker 10: Yeah, it's actually funny, Kelly Kelly up playing with minor hockey,
- 46:15Speaker 10: with minor hockey growing up.
- 46:17Speaker 3: So Spanish.
- 46:19Speaker 6: On that big wax markom Waxer team with als Ato
- 46:22Speaker 6: and stamp Coast and stuff.
- 46:23Speaker 7: So I liked it, like it's fun.
- 46:25Speaker 6: I mean again, this whole thing going on and Stammer
- 46:27Speaker 6: getting traded there, it's been so fun to be around
- 46:29Speaker 6: Stammer again. Like he's just like again with the He's
- 46:31Speaker 6: got kids too, so I mean, I know they love it.
- 46:33Speaker 7: It's such like a funny little thing.
- 46:34Speaker 6: I played with Stammer for like eight years in minor
- 46:38Speaker 6: hockey and on his left wing, and I like to
- 46:40Speaker 6: say I probably have the most assist that anyone has
- 46:43Speaker 6: on his like for him, I used to score like
- 46:46Speaker 6: one hundred and sixty goals a game or a season
- 46:48Speaker 6: in minor hockey.
- 46:49Speaker 7: So I'm sure you coaching U in Tampa doesn't have
- 46:53Speaker 7: as many apples on.
- 46:54Speaker 6: His Team'll let's let's take that question.
- 47:00Speaker 10: No, he is, uh, you know, obviously no stammer, just
- 47:02Speaker 10: you know, amazing team guy. Seen him this year kind
- 47:06Speaker 10: of yeah, find that groove again. That spark has been
- 47:08Speaker 10: unbelievable and obviously a big you know, adjustment I think
- 47:12Speaker 10: for him. And it's just tough, like you know, as
- 47:15Speaker 10: you know look as a playmaker and trying to get
- 47:17Speaker 10: him the pod because you can just you see how
- 47:19Speaker 10: lethal he is. It's just and you know, he's got
- 47:22Speaker 10: that kind of that that swagged back and has been
- 47:24Speaker 10: a big reason why we've been able to kind of
- 47:25Speaker 10: climb back into this season is because of him and
- 47:28Speaker 10: his leadership and it's the guidance has just you know,
- 47:30Speaker 10: every day he come to the rink and you know
- 47:32Speaker 10: he's there, he's putting the work in and you know,
- 47:34Speaker 10: helping young guys and just the ultimate ultimate teammate.
- 47:38Speaker 6: Uh.
- 47:38Speaker 4: You guys were kind of back skating I think before
- 47:40Speaker 4: the gold medal game. Did you guys kind of get
- 47:42Speaker 4: together and watch it? And then I mean, I'll ask
- 47:44Speaker 4: both of you because Kelly, you're the Spanish waying Gretzky,
- 47:47Speaker 4: so I got to keep asking hockey questions. But would
- 47:49Speaker 4: you guys make it more now? Yeah, I love it.
- 47:52Speaker 4: That's the best thing ever Spanish Wayne Gretzky. But I
- 47:55Speaker 4: mean fact that we competed together at World Championships. We
- 47:58Speaker 4: lost a tough one and shootout, uh to Hank, that
- 48:01Speaker 4: son of a bitch. And then we just talk about
- 48:03Speaker 4: Canadians VERSUS America and what you what did you make
- 48:05Speaker 4: of the tournament as a whole, and and you know,
- 48:08Speaker 4: being back from break now.
- 48:10Speaker 10: Yeah, we uh yeah, we all we had practice that day,
- 48:13Speaker 10: so we're all watching up until right after that going
- 48:16Speaker 10: on the ice, and yeah, for all the Canadian boys,
- 48:18Speaker 10: it was a little it wasn't our best practice. We
- 48:21Speaker 10: were a little deflated there and a lot of USA
- 48:24Speaker 10: chants going on, which was yeah, kind of pissed me off.
- 48:27Speaker 10: But uh, that was heartbreaking obviously, you know, great, great hog.
- 48:31Speaker 10: It was great to see, you know, all the top
- 48:35Speaker 10: dogs in the game going at it. You know, it
- 48:36Speaker 10: was fun to watch. Is some of the best hockey
- 48:38Speaker 10: you've ever ever seen, and it just I think, like
- 48:41Speaker 10: like a lot of NHL guys too. You just want
- 48:43Speaker 10: to see that five on five continuous all the way through.
- 48:45Speaker 10: It's just a show as the better team shows the
- 48:47Speaker 10: depth and you know, the sacrifice, how you need to
- 48:50Speaker 10: use your whole bench, and it's just it's uh disappointing,
- 48:54Speaker 10: but obviously, yeah, Americans only found a way to get
- 48:56Speaker 10: it done. And it's just it's it is where it is.
- 48:58Speaker 10: But uh, definitely real as Canadians are a little heartbroken.
- 49:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not going to put salt in the wood here.
- 49:04Speaker 4: And Connor hella bitch.
- 49:09Speaker 11: And I agreed, and I agree too. I think it
- 49:11Speaker 11: should be five y five. I think that's uh the
- 49:14Speaker 11: way hockey is supposed to be played. Obviously. You know,
- 49:17Speaker 11: now now going back to the NHL and the season
- 49:20Speaker 11: starting back up again, Uh for your team Nashville, especially,
- 49:24Speaker 11: what what's the mindset right now? Obviously you guys are
- 49:26Speaker 11: in it, but what's the mindset now after the break,
- 49:28Speaker 11: no starting back up again, practicing, guys are coming back
- 49:31Speaker 11: from the Olympics all that.
- 49:33Speaker 10: Yeah, we're getting we're getting too. We know, we gotta
- 49:35Speaker 10: you know, we gotta come on this break hot. It's
- 49:37Speaker 10: it's gonna be a tight race, and you know, every
- 49:39Speaker 10: every point matters.
- 49:41Speaker 9: But uh, you know, I love our group and you know,
- 49:43Speaker 9: obviously you have to trade.
- 49:44Speaker 10: You know, we don't really for as players, we don't
- 49:46Speaker 10: know what's going to happen. It's tough to predict, you know,
- 49:48Speaker 10: are we you know, a hadding someone we're getting rid
- 49:49Speaker 10: of guys like it's you know, we we don't know,
- 49:52Speaker 10: but you know we've.
- 49:53Speaker 9: Talked about it. You know, it's controlling, a weak control.
- 49:55Speaker 10: We've got some one of the best groups of guys
- 49:57Speaker 10: I've been a part of, and you know it's going
- 49:59Speaker 10: to fall on us, you know, the leadership, the veteran guys,
- 50:02Speaker 10: if we're going to do this.
- 50:02Speaker 9: But you know, I've got full office that we can
- 50:04Speaker 9: get in. We can get into the.
- 50:05Speaker 10: Playoffs and and you know, show them that you know,
- 50:08Speaker 10: we're we're a team and we're you know, adding some pieces.
- 50:11Speaker 10: But uh, you know it's you know, for us, it's
- 50:14Speaker 10: you know, even this this whole season, you know, when
- 50:17Speaker 10: it's either you know, we're great or we're terrible, there's
- 50:20Speaker 10: that there's no one between with us and and I
- 50:22Speaker 10: think that's something we just got to be that we've
- 50:25Speaker 10: discussed is you know being consistent with that, having the
- 50:28Speaker 10: desperation right from the get go. You know, we tend
- 50:31Speaker 10: to be a low you know, uh slow starting team,
- 50:33Speaker 10: and that's.
- 50:34Speaker 9: Something that we have to to fix.
- 50:36Speaker 10: We have to be able to at least you know,
- 50:37Speaker 10: he can't only start a game taken over and mentum,
- 50:40Speaker 10: but we got at least you know, make sure it's
- 50:42Speaker 10: you know, one goal with that. You know, we're keeping
- 50:44Speaker 10: it until we get our footing and can can get going.
- 50:46Speaker 10: But I'm excited for it to be nice to get back.
- 50:48Speaker 10: It's been a long break, but yeah, I love our group.
- 50:52Speaker 4: Uh talk a little bit about Trot's you know, made
- 50:55Speaker 4: some news before the break, and you know, I don't
- 50:57Speaker 4: know how much you were involved in that or heard
- 50:59Speaker 4: about that coming down the pipe, but you know, what
- 51:01Speaker 4: has he meant to you? You know, I know he
- 51:03Speaker 4: kind of wanted to build this identity for this team
- 51:05Speaker 4: and maybe waited, didn't want to see it through, or
- 51:09Speaker 4: he just kind of thought that bringing another voice. But
- 51:11Speaker 4: what has he meant to you? And kind of when
- 51:13Speaker 4: you found out about the news, were you shocked or
- 51:15Speaker 4: you know, what do you think the organization goes from here?
- 51:18Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 51:18Speaker 9: Yeah, I think we were a little shocked for sure. Yeah.
- 51:21Speaker 10: We uh we got a message that morning like, hey,
- 51:24Speaker 10: we got a meeting with Trotzy coming in and guys
- 51:27Speaker 10: or everyone wasn't really sure what was going on, and yeah,
- 51:30Speaker 10: I think, you know, he'll be messed you know, obviously,
- 51:32Speaker 10: you know the Trotzy what he's done in the game
- 51:34Speaker 10: and just a person and that he is in the
- 51:37Speaker 10: game that you know, you need more people like him.
- 51:39Speaker 10: And you know, he brought me here and got to
- 51:41Speaker 10: be part of something really special and I've loved it here.
- 51:45Speaker 10: You know, he coached my brother a bit as well,
- 51:46Speaker 10: and so you know, just even for the city of Nashville,
- 51:50Speaker 10: what he's done, he's done great, like so many amazing
- 51:52Speaker 10: things that you know, when you think of hockey and Nashville,
- 51:54Speaker 10: you think of Barry Trotz, and so it's he's just
- 51:56Speaker 10: an incredible guy where we're going to miss him deeply,
- 51:59Speaker 10: and uh, yeah, I wish him the best, you know,
- 52:01Speaker 10: as he as he goes.
- 52:02Speaker 4: Forward, statute, do you think you make a little block
- 52:04Speaker 4: statue of him? Like shoulders would be the tallest one,
- 52:08Speaker 4: but I mean I think it looked pretty good out there.
- 52:13Speaker 6: Yeah, right next to that there.
- 52:19Speaker 4: Trot's next time, just he can fit between Pecca's legs.
- 52:22Speaker 4: I think.
- 52:24Speaker 11: With uh with the trade deadline looming, and if there's
- 52:29Speaker 11: somebody that knows about it more than anything, it's me.
- 52:31Speaker 11: I think I still get PTSD around the trade deadline
- 52:33Speaker 11: every year, you know. I guess my question is is, like,
- 52:38Speaker 11: you know, I'm always curious what guy's mindsets are around
- 52:41Speaker 11: the trade deadline because I went through it so many times,
- 52:44Speaker 11: and and how they go about it every day, and
- 52:46Speaker 11: you know, going to the rink and everything. Obviously your
- 52:48Speaker 11: name has been mentioned, you know, how do you handle that?
- 52:52Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 52:53Speaker 10: Obviously, Yeah, everyone hears the rumors. You're Yeah, I'm not
- 52:56Speaker 10: sure what's going to happen. I think my my wife's
- 52:59Speaker 10: a little more stressed than I am. It's a tough
- 53:01Speaker 10: time for her, which is the hardest of not knowing
- 53:03Speaker 10: where we're going to be. But yeah, I know, I
- 53:06Speaker 10: feel like, you know, there's rumors for a lot of
- 53:09Speaker 10: us here, and you know, we kind of try to
- 53:11Speaker 10: keep narrowing the focus and just stay on what we
- 53:13Speaker 10: can control. You know, we have so many good pieces
- 53:16Speaker 10: here in great group of guys that you know, we
- 53:17Speaker 10: want to come under the gates hot here and and
- 53:20Speaker 10: make something happen. And I feel like, yeah, he can
- 53:23Speaker 10: speculate all you want, but we have to kind of
- 53:24Speaker 10: take care of business right here. And so it's you
- 53:27Speaker 10: myself is tough of time. You obviously hear rumors, but yeah,
- 53:31Speaker 10: I just try to stay in it, try to get
- 53:33Speaker 10: you know, his last week or so, just trying to
- 53:35Speaker 10: prepare to come under the gates hot here. And I
- 53:37Speaker 10: know other guys feel that same way. But yeah, it's
- 53:40Speaker 10: always it's always a tough time, as you know.
- 53:43Speaker 4: Just to segue into the music again, because that's what
- 53:45Speaker 4: a good interviewer does. Kelly, just like if he were
- 53:49Speaker 4: to get traded or anything, Like how do you guys,
- 53:51Speaker 4: you know, how do you guys manage filming or recording
- 53:55Speaker 4: if you guys aren't in the same city. Do you
- 53:57Speaker 4: have to be in the same city? I know, there's
- 53:59Speaker 4: all sorts of ways now.
- 54:00Speaker 6: Yeah, like I think like getting into like this side
- 54:03Speaker 6: of actually like recording stuff like a lot of times before,
- 54:05Speaker 6: like it would be a lot of sort of like analog,
- 54:07Speaker 6: you know, writing on paper and you know, being with
- 54:09Speaker 6: each other, and you know, I think we've learned through this.
- 54:12Speaker 6: There's lots of good ways to like record things and
- 54:14Speaker 6: send them back and forth. We're kind of getting a
- 54:16Speaker 6: little better at that, but because I mean it is
- 54:19Speaker 6: kind of fun, like we talk about like the downtime
- 54:21Speaker 6: and stuff like obviously Ryan's busy with kids too, so
- 54:24Speaker 6: it's sort of you know, random times that you'll he'll
- 54:27Speaker 6: have that you know, five ten minutes when something comes
- 54:28Speaker 6: to his head kind of you know, put it onto
- 54:30Speaker 6: the phone, send it over to me. And there's ways
- 54:32Speaker 6: to kind of going back and forth. So but yeah,
- 54:35Speaker 6: just even touching upon like I mean just Nashville and
- 54:37Speaker 6: the Preds and stuff like they've treated us like you
- 54:39Speaker 6: know when I mean, I know, I've seen them treat
- 54:41Speaker 6: Ryan's family so well and all the teams and our
- 54:43Speaker 6: families there so well, but even like me, and they've
- 54:46Speaker 6: embraced this whole idea. And then even going back to
- 54:48Speaker 6: the trotzy thing. I remember Ryan's Stousanth game. He came
- 54:52Speaker 6: up to the suites and he had like a moment
- 54:55Speaker 6: with like literally, what how many people do you have there?
- 54:57Speaker 6: Like one hundred people? Like he was just like the nicest,
- 55:00Speaker 6: kindest man, like like.
- 55:01Speaker 5: Just gave.
- 55:05Speaker 4: Continue though it's fine.
- 55:06Speaker 6: Yeah, No, he just was like the nicest, like it
- 55:08Speaker 6: just to me. I was like, man, he doesn't have
- 55:10Speaker 6: to do that. He didn't, you know what I mean.
- 55:11Speaker 6: It was one of those things where he gave every
- 55:13Speaker 6: cousin of Ryan's like, you know, the a moment and
- 55:16Speaker 6: stuff and and it was just really cool like for
- 55:18Speaker 6: us as hockey fans, being from Canada and stuff. Everybody
- 55:20Speaker 6: knows Barry trot so to for him to come up
- 55:23Speaker 6: and just like, you know, shoot the shit about stuff
- 55:25Speaker 6: and stuff was really cool. And I mean it just
- 55:27Speaker 6: kind of shows how like how much of a family
- 55:29Speaker 6: and stuff it is in Nashville and the cool, like
- 55:33Speaker 6: the environment that they've they've built there is really good.
- 55:37Speaker 4: I know Teal's got a couple as one too. He
- 55:39Speaker 4: always just to get in I got to get in
- 55:41Speaker 4: a couple of questions. Thanks, Jadie. That's just super fair, right,
- 55:46Speaker 4: I gotta ask.
- 55:47Speaker 8: I was curious you got to see a young Jack
- 55:49Speaker 8: Eichel and Sam Reinhart in Buffalo and they've both gone
- 55:52Speaker 8: on to have pretty remarkable careers in other places, and
- 55:55Speaker 8: then went head to head over the weekend of course
- 55:57Speaker 8: in the gold medal game.
- 55:58Speaker 4: I'd love to hear just.
- 55:59Speaker 8: Anything you recall from seeing those two, you know, in
- 56:03Speaker 8: the early stages of their NHL career.
- 56:06Speaker 10: Yeah, obviously, Yeah, both amazing players. Yeah, it was kind
- 56:09Speaker 10: of when you look back at like some of the
- 56:11Speaker 10: that team he had in Buffalo, it's definitely some talent,
- 56:13Speaker 10: and you know, I think we could added some more
- 56:15Speaker 10: veteran guys to kind of show us how to do
- 56:18Speaker 10: it a bit, you know, a show us how to be,
- 56:20Speaker 10: show us how to win. I guess coaches there, you know,
- 56:22Speaker 10: it could have been something special. But you know, Jack
- 56:25Speaker 10: coming in just just knew how to play a man's
- 56:28Speaker 10: game right away, just like so strong, effortless, the way
- 56:31Speaker 10: he skates, and just the poison with the park watching
- 56:35Speaker 10: him every day in practice and how he takes care
- 56:37Speaker 10: of himself is just it's incredible. And same thing with
- 56:40Speaker 10: Ryan Hart too. He is, you know, such a smart player,
- 56:43Speaker 10: the way he's able to get lost and little touches
- 56:46Speaker 10: that he makes, you know, so underrated in so many
- 56:48Speaker 10: areas that I feel like it's just you know, he
- 56:51Speaker 10: always ends up on the right spot. And yeah, he
- 56:53Speaker 10: saw that those guys are both very young at the time,
- 56:55Speaker 10: and you just knew, you knew they were going to
- 56:56Speaker 10: be superstars in the NHL. And it was obviously great
- 56:59Speaker 10: guys too, great great teammates, but yeah, they're definitely special players.
- 57:04Speaker 4: And also one of my favorites is suck it Nate.
- 57:08Speaker 3: Sorry, sorry, no, you gotta go back to back. I
- 57:11Speaker 3: like it quick.
- 57:13Speaker 4: I'm out let you take over.
- 57:14Speaker 2: But I had to ask.
- 57:15Speaker 8: It's one of my favorite stories in the last few
- 57:17Speaker 8: years in the NHL about the team outing to see
- 57:20Speaker 8: you two. It's Spear getting canceled and just turning the
- 57:22Speaker 8: season around. But I'm curious, did you ever get a
- 57:25Speaker 8: chance to go to sphere after that?
- 57:27Speaker 9: We did not. I was pretty heartbreaking.
- 57:30Speaker 4: Uh you never did the debt or anything.
- 57:33Speaker 10: No, I still haven't done it. It was funny though,
- 57:35Speaker 10: right when we h had a practice day. Once we
- 57:37Speaker 10: got in, we had a practice that day, so sure enough,
- 57:41Speaker 10: I don't know which one of the boys put in
- 57:43Speaker 10: the room to start blaring you two right as we
- 57:45Speaker 10: got in and the team service a guy come flying
- 57:48Speaker 10: around and tell us to turn it off. But it
- 57:51Speaker 10: was pretty Uh yeah, you know, I think that's the
- 57:54Speaker 10: trotzi a thing, you know. He you know, it's all
- 57:56Speaker 10: about winning and competing, and obviously we weren't doing it,
- 58:00Speaker 10: and that was something to kind of wake us up,
- 58:02Speaker 10: and yeah, we went on a.
- 58:04Speaker 9: The tear after that.
- 58:05Speaker 10: So yeah, you can't you can't be mad with that
- 58:07Speaker 10: for the final way to win hockey games.
- 58:11Speaker 11: Obviously you got a lot of years left, right. I
- 58:13Speaker 11: mean I've always been a fan, even when you were
- 58:15Speaker 11: you came in the league as a rookie. I was
- 58:16Speaker 11: like his kids, He's so good defensively, all of it.
- 58:19Speaker 11: I just I was always a fan. And you know now,
- 58:23Speaker 11: you know, obviously towards the end of your career, like,
- 58:26Speaker 11: have you thought about possibly, you know, doing the music
- 58:29Speaker 11: thing and maybe acting because I've seen you act.
- 58:31Speaker 3: You have seen you act on TV. You have done
- 58:33Speaker 3: some acting, so I know it's.
- 58:34Speaker 11: There is this something that maybe you you might be
- 58:37Speaker 11: getting involved with post career with Kelly.
- 58:39Speaker 10: Yeah, it's funny because part of this, like I idea
- 58:45Speaker 10: for Mac and Cheese and building this children's thing is
- 58:47Speaker 10: that we've we've been writing for it as well as
- 58:50Speaker 10: kind of this adult TV show kind of like dark
- 58:54Speaker 10: Side children's music kind of thing. And yeah, we've been
- 58:58Speaker 10: kind of creating that and we actually signed on I
- 59:00Speaker 10: don't know if you know Jerry d who you know,
- 59:03Speaker 10: famous Canadian?
- 59:06Speaker 9: Yeah, comedian and.
- 59:08Speaker 10: Actor and uh yeah, so he kind of yeah, signed
- 59:12Speaker 10: with us for a deal. So we're part of this
- 59:14Speaker 10: kind of creating this TV show with them. So I
- 59:16Speaker 10: don't know if we'll be acting in it, but definitely
- 59:18Speaker 10: being a part of something in that. And it's always
- 59:21Speaker 10: been uh yeah again, I want to play hockey as
- 59:24Speaker 10: long as I can, and I still feel like I've
- 59:26Speaker 10: got a lot left to play. But yeah, that definitely
- 59:28Speaker 10: is an avenue I've kind of thought about for sure.
- 59:32Speaker 7: Yeah, I'll just.
- 59:33Speaker 6: I'll chime in and say, like, so's those things where
- 59:37Speaker 6: like they're certain guys. There's certain guys like Ryan that
- 59:40Speaker 6: are just like like, I'm like, I love the guys,
- 59:43Speaker 6: He's my best friend, but they're certain. You know, there's
- 59:45Speaker 6: guys that are just like, man, they're so, why are
- 59:48Speaker 6: you good at everything? You know what I mean, It's like,
- 59:49Speaker 6: why are you good at every? Like I finished playing hockey,
- 59:52Speaker 6: I start getting acting. He knows all about it, you know.
- 59:54Speaker 7: I talked to him.
- 59:54Speaker 6: He's so supportive and loves it, and you know, we
- 59:57Speaker 6: do this music stuff and then we start getting the
- 59:59Speaker 6: music and he's so good at that. And then, like
- 1:00:01Speaker 6: you said, we started recording ourselves in the studio to
- 1:00:03Speaker 6: kind of have like a bit of a behind the scenes,
- 1:00:06Speaker 6: but we played into it like acted like you know,
- 1:00:08Speaker 6: sort of versions of ourselves to the camera while we
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: were actually making real music. And we're watching like the
- 1:00:14Speaker 6: feedback afterwards, and like I said, I've been like going
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: to classes for acting and like learning and all this stuff,
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: and I'm watching, I'm like this fucking guys better than
- 1:00:21Speaker 6: me at this too, Like what the fuck?
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:00:25Speaker 6: I'm like, I'm like trying to like I'm like fast
- 1:00:28Speaker 6: forward to where I look good, Like come on, Like,
- 1:00:30Speaker 6: what the heck is it?
- 1:00:31Speaker 7: Like he's just so natural. I think there's certain guys.
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: Man, I know he's he's humble and stuff, but there's
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: like I think if it wasn't hockey, it would have
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: been something else that would.
- 1:00:39Speaker 7: Have like taken off. And I swears the same.
- 1:00:42Speaker 6: I swear I have the same vibe about Stammer, like
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: growing up with him, like there was just an aura
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: about him, like he'd pick up a basketball and like
- 1:00:49Speaker 6: chuck it like this from around and just start walking
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: away and we go in.
- 1:00:52Speaker 7: I swear to God like out of.
- 1:00:53Speaker 6: Like certain things, like you know, there's like this It's
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: like I remember just watching that feedback of him being
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: like so good at acting, I'm like, what the I
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: get it right?
- 1:01:06Speaker 7: I get it.
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: He is pretty good.
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: You know, my last question is just going to be
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: is gluten free going to be added to the Mac
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: and Cheese album? And I'm fine to sign over the rights.
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: I don't know Kelly if he's told you, but Ryan
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: gluten free, we kind of conceptualized that we I had
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: no I wouldn't say I have a producer cred on it.
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: So I just kind of think I want to know
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: when gluten free is going to be thrown into the
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: Mac and Cheese and I'll allow it does not matter
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: to me. I hope it ticks off.
- 1:01:40Speaker 9: I might have to make it a single.
- 1:01:42Speaker 10: But yeah, it's kind of a you know, a knock
- 1:01:45Speaker 10: knock knock, I'm gluten free and knock knocking gluten free.
- 1:01:51Speaker 10: A little spoof, but yeah, we don't have to put
- 1:01:54Speaker 10: that onto some store album.
- 1:01:55Speaker 9: There. It was.
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: It was the banger it was, but no, listen, guys,
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: thanks for coming on. Congratulations on what you guys are doing. Obviously,
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: Ryan on the Ice, Spanish wing, Gretzky, amazing stuff. Good
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: luck with the prebs. But also better luck with mac
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: and cheese as you guys keep moving forward with it.
- 1:02:13Speaker 7: Appreciate it, guys.
- 1:02:14Speaker 9: Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, thanks for having us. We appreciate
- 1:02:16Speaker 9: it's awesome.
- 1:02:17Speaker 12: Thank you, all right, thanks once again to Royin o'reiley.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: It's interesting now, JD when it comes to narrative shifts.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: So Connor Hellibuck, I mean, I just imagine the outrage
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: right now at Portage in Maine. This guy has been
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: unbelievable in the regular season, and then to be blunt
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: has flopped in the playoffs, and now he picks this
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: moment to stand up and get a medal of freedom.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: The Jets are not going to go to the playoffs
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: this year, so they're gonna have to wait for next
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: season to see if Hellibuck can be that guy come
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: playoff time. Jack Hughes Jacques has his moment, and Austin
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: Matthews bad salad receding hairlines standing behind Trump. Trump has
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: been critical of Canadians and Mexicans and this guy standing
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: there just loving Trump all about Mega. The Leaves can't
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: win the Big One, but Austin Matthews can. Meantime, Connor
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: McDavid has now lost the deciding game and one most
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: valuable Player, Stanley Cup file and Winter Olympics.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: Unless he wins the Cup this summer, which is far
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: from a certainty.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: He's starting to get the label, which I can't think
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: of anything more offensive the best player.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Never twit a big one.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: Oof like it's tough.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: I was thinking about that today because I was reading
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: through the notes and I really wanted to, you know,
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: and I had a couple of calls with some radio
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: stations and they kind of asked the same thing about Austin,
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: and you know, and I've been thinking, I'm like, yes,
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: it's a big one, but it's an all star game one. Yes,
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: it's my I believe after watching that, it's much harder
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: to win a Stanley Cup than it is to win
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: if you're US or Canada, a gold medal.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: Without a doubt, if I may.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: And this is definitely sour grape, so I wouldn't say this,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: but it's a glorified exhibition. You put these guys together
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: for two weeks, the Roald Robins kind of a joke,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: and then every game is a coin Steeley Cup eighty
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: two games regular season in a two month spring like
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: that there's no question you would know this as a player.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: To win a cup is incredible. I'm not saying it's
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: not a great moment to play for your country. Again,
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: you did that Beijing, You've done that other tournaments. But like, dude,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: how can he compare one versus the other? Staley Cup
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: is massive.
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's I think it's way bigger. So I
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: think people try, you know, trying to say that like, oh,
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: this win means these guys are winners. Now, yes, they're
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: winners for their country. But again it's you got to think,
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: like you know, there's just again, like you have a
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: way better team in front of you. Doesn't matter who
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: you're with, unless you're playing for France or or you know, Italy,
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: you have a better team than your respective NHL squad.
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: So it's like you can say what you want about
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: winning the big one. Like Connor Helbuk stills to prove
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: himself in a Game seven. He kind of he did
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: last year against Saint Louis, but he's still got to
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: prove that he can get through a playoff round right,
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: and a playoff in a playoffs. But again, you're you're
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: more reliant on the top guys on your NHL squad
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: than you are in an Olympic format because you have
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: so many of them, You have such a wealth of
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: riches that everybody can play. You know, you have guys
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: who played twenty five minutes a night in their NHL
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: teams playing five in the Olympics. So I just think
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: it's very much to your point. I wouldn't call it
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: an exhibition game because I do think like the Olympics
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: are fantastic because it's like kind of an all Star
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: game every game, but it's an all store game where
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: the guys are trying to kill each other and it's
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: very physical. But I do think like it's a lot
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: harder to win a Stanley Cup. So for me, and
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: look at the guy, look at the guys that are
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: look at Joe Thornton, I mean want of gold medals,
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: never won. Patty Marlow arguably you know him and Joe
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: are two guys that I know off the top of
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: my head that you never won a Stanley Cup that
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: want a gold medal. PK Suban won a gold medal,
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: you know, never won a Stanley Cup. And these guys
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: weren't judged on they can't win the big one. I
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: think it's the market of Canada that just really gets
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: on these guys. I think now even more so that
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: they won with the USA, I think the pressure is
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: going to be on and they're gonna be even under
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: more of a microscope now because everybody's already the scrutiny
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: on Austin. Is he gonna play tonight against Tampa or
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: is he gonna play It's like, I mean, listen, the
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: guy just won a gold medal. It's as hard as
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: it is harder it is to win a Stanley Cup.
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: The fact that the gold medal is every four years
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: and you know you might not play in every single
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: one of them, I think might be a bigger deal
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: to win in the sense of having that like there's
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: not many people that play in it, Like everybody is
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: an opportunity if you if you're an NHL player, to
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: play in the Stanley Cup finals, you just got to
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: get there. In the Olympics, you gotta be chosen from
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: your your team. You're gonna be one of the best
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: in the world. And you also, where you grow up matters.
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: So if you're you know, if you're got a French passport,
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: you can play on the France team. But if you're
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: a Canadian you got to be damn well sure you're
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: one of the best, same with the US to make
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: that team. So I think there's positives to both sides,
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: but I agree with you. I think it's harder to
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: win a Stanley Cup.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: It's not even close.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: And in terms of McDavid and McKinnon, this is a
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: pretty damning stat Those two players combined for one point
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: and even strength in the Metal Round and McKinnon was
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: minus two overall. So there's some some talk about, hey,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: our best players didn't play their best, and I'm.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Like, again, you're looking at one thing like it's hard
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: to score points. Okay, you're being stifled, you're playing get
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: best on best.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: I'm not saying that I wouldn't have loved to see
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: McDavid get a hatcher for the team in his back
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: and when the game, but it happens, I'm not gonna
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: sit here and go McDavid McKinnon choked and their pressice.
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: He won the record. McDavid won the record for all
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: time points by with NHL participation with thirteen pas.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Argument is in the Metal Round, when the games mattered most,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: he didn't step up and over time he didn't score
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: on that first chancey fan on.
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: The shot, But I mean, listen, it's it's one of
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: those crazy things to look at, you know. I know
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: Maclin celebriniy proved himself as a question guy.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: Believable. Thanks for bringing him up. I want to say,
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: anybody who had any questions but that celebrity.
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: That kid's generational.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: It was unbelievable.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Now we're gonna see a motivated Celebrady in Paris in
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: twenty thirty.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: That's the best news for Canada.
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: Well, I was looking at the Canada roster and twenty thirty,
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: it's gonna be interesting to see who's on that.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Crosby done. He's not gonna play forty two.
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: People are saying, don't count him out, that he'll just
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: kind of be there, or he'll be there as an executive.
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: If he's there one way or the other executive, that's fine. Yeah, well,
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: you know Schaefer will be there. Who knows the next
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: generation coming in, But it's gonna be a it's gonna
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: be fun. But I mean it's four years away where
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: I'm gonna be in. We're gonna be old men by
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: the time it's there.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: I mean, if unscripted is still going by that, I
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: would be just astonished.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: That's the bigger question.
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: If unscripted is still going by then reevaluate your son.
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: What if I tell with my life this is well,
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: we better if it's more of the question of if
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: unscripted is still going, where will it be? Will we
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: still will we have a video element? By that?
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: It's a good point if anything else is still going,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: that could be a good seging, like, oh, we've turned
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: into a juggernaut.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: I've turned to spit and chicklts.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: But if it's still continuing at the similar trajectory, what
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: an indictment that would be to.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: All of us?
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, five fifty okay, fie.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: Let's still quick instead a file at sixty before you
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: look at the HL season, go for it.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: You have to be a nerd to watch the Baptist.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: But that's what I'm doing.
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: You a nerd.
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: I'm much of the Baptist on E Okay, this is
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: channel two.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Thirty six, and direct to me, people are wait on
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: a Sunday night, you're watching the Baptist. I'm like, Yeah,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: what I do is I don't wait and watch the
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: whole thing. So I don't know how these how the
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: British people are? You think I will watch Alan Cumming
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: do stand up? I couldn't care less about this guy.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: I wait till the show's been a hour over. I've
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: dvred it and I started scrolling through. Ok I don't
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: care about Alan Cumming stand up out. I bet I
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: go to the next cut.
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: He's fantastic on Traders though.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Okay, there you go that it's like best debut by
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: a British actor. I don't care. Next, I don't care
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: about British people. Next moving out. Okay, now we'll get
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: to the good stuf.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: P t Anderson Dominating Screenplay, gonna watch his award director P.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: T Anderson Best Picture, one balloft Juggernaut. Okay, Best actress
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Jesse Buckley Handen. Now we get a couple of surprises.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: At least supporting actor, everyone thinks stealin Scarzers in the
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: Oscar Sean Penn wins one ballot and that I'm like
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: all right. Best supporting actresses thought to be Tiana Taylor
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: one balloft another no when we Masaku wins for Sinners.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: So at least a couple of upsets.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: But the people were talking about was the fact that
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: one of the films that did win. When it comes
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: to Best Actor, I'm hoping Ethan Hawk, Blue Moon Let's go,
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: and I'll be okay with Shalloman winning.
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: For Marty Supreme or Leo. Instead it's the British guy.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: Nobody's heard him.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: What the guy went for? I swear like I couldn't
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: care less. The story is this though the movie he
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: plays a guy with touret's. Now at the award show
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: live in color, Delroy Lindo, Michael B. Jordan, both who
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: happened to be black, the man who has tourets went
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: up there and dropped a racial slur. Now again, I'm
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: not gonna mock anybody with Touret's, as somebody explained to me,
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: because it's like a blind man knocking over chair, like
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: you literally can't can't control it.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: What I find him musing is this though? That is
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: It was Larry David had his chef with touret's and
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: he's dropping racial SERTs insulty, how wod you.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: Deal with this?
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: And then it happened at an award show at the
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: British Academy Awards.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: Real life Curb unbelievable.
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: Curb touches everything. Hey, is it amazing? With what curb
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: enthusiasm or Seinfeld? It still holds weight today. It'll just
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: be in a day and something will happen and you're like,
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: you look at somebody and be like and you both
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: nod your head and you're like, that's literally a curb episode.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: Tell, that's one of the great episodes ever.
- 1:11:14Speaker 8: Amazing, amazing episode. I said it in the in the
- 1:11:19Speaker 8: notes here. It introduced us to the term car wash
- 1:11:23Speaker 8: See you next Tuesday.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: The car wash cunt.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: He's holding a show, he'scoding a show.
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: I'm quoting a show.
- 1:11:33Speaker 8: It's such a just and to see, like because for
- 1:11:36Speaker 8: those who aren't familiar with that, the chef has tourettes
- 1:11:38Speaker 8: and it's the opening of the restaurant and he starts
- 1:11:40Speaker 8: just dropping every freaking slur you can think of. So
- 1:11:44Speaker 8: the only way that Jeff and Lowry decide to say
- 1:11:47Speaker 8: face is they just start saying so.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: Jeff just starts going cock.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: Richard Lewis like balls, both sweating balls.
- 1:11:57Speaker 8: It's an incredible scene. I'm all for any curb talk,
- 1:12:00Speaker 8: so thank you for bringing me in there.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: But yeah, camera zooms in a Larry V Maybe one
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I can do something to help people. And this is
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: the least he is, the rampant swearing. It's so funny,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: all right. Looking ahead to the rest of the season.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: JD.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: McKinnon McDavid bowing for the scoring title. Can Florida make
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: the playoffs? Colorado, Dallas and Minnesota the top spot in
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: the West?
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: Or how about your Sabers Tage Thompson wearing a mega hat.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Can they continue their push for their first playoff appearance
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: in fifteen years?
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: Do I gotta go now?
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Yeah? What if you want to?
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: Those times?
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: Gonna take Yeah, two maga comments by you.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: I like that.
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: Just remember they're all trying to get your money, every
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: single one of them. They all go to the same parties.
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: They're all in the Epstein files.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: Are gonna make the playoffs?
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: Sabers make the playoffs? Yes, I think they're gonna take
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: a swing. I think yarmokek Line that's going to bring
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: somebody in. Yeah, maybe another d man even more depth.
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: I think they have enough youth kicking around there, and
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: I think some guys that have played well that they
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: can go get something. I think they take a swing,
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: they make it. I think Florida. I think Florida misses.
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: I think they're I think they're you know, the two
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: games off of the break for them is Toronto and Buffalo.
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: You know, Toronto and Buffalo is And I talked to
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: Foresling on the plane on the way back and he
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: was like, we win, those two were right in the hunt.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: We lose, we're out. So he's like, it's kind of
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: because right there, it's it's they're gonna be way too
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: far out to get back in if they lose both.
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: So I think they don't do it. I think Toronto
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: makes a push, but if they don't make the playoffs,
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: I think Austin's gonna take a beating. Yes, out West,
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: it's going to be interesting because with the fial injury,
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: we'll see how quickly Pineren can kind of get back
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: in and back into and comfortable with as teammates. I
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: think it helps that they had the break and he
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: was he probably went to La and skated with the guys.
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: It's really gonna be when you look at it, it's like,
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: can't see it in the West. It's like can Seattle
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: hold on and are they good enough to make it?
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: But when you really look at it. Either Seattle, Edmonton,
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: Utah or Anaheim is gonna miss because as if La
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: makes it in, so.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Was gonna miss. Seattle's getting in.
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: Utah has been hot. Can they stay hot? It's it's
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: gonna see. The trade deadline is gonna be who who
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: addresses what needs? Who gets better? You know, can Macklin
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: get the Sharks in? I don't think so. I think
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: they're gonna be very happy with where they end up
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: this year anywhere, but I think it'll be tough.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: And then even the Predators, you know, where you look
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: at the Preds, the Preds might be able to sneak in.
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: So it's gonna be it's gonna be a fucking sprint
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: to the finals. And you gotta get hot right off
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: the gate here. If you flounder at all, yeah, uh,
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: and you lose like the first five, or you go
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: five hundred through the first five or six games, I
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: think you're cooked.
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: You gotta be.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: I was gonna say shot to our guy, Billy Zito,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: who celebrating right now. Billy Garret obviously is the assistant
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: GM and Garret put this team together a phenomenal job.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: But I gotta tell you this Bill's you know, bad
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: news for you.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Panthers are done forget about three pet they're not making
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: the playoffs.
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: Well, listen to this little hot take though. What if
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: the Panthers just go, let's shut down Marsha, Yeah, Barkop's
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: not coming back this year.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: You said he's gonna play, though.
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: I still think he's gonna play. But if they're completely
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: out now people are saying that he won't, they're just
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: gonna shut him down because think of this, they're not
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: far out from being last in the league.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: Correct tanking a great pick.
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: First overall pick they get, maybe and they get fucking
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: Gavin McKenna. Can you imagine that they get a top
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: five pick, they're gonna they're gonna trade Babrovsky. It looks like, yeah,
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: but they're not extending him. If I'm a team might
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: take a shot at them, that be unbelievable. You try,
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: wouldn't if you're if you're Edmonton, yes, and you can
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: make it work and you go, fuck, I'll take Bob
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: for one run. Or if you're trying to think of
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: some other teams that are in the hunt, that are
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: that that need you know, I mean Colorado. Colorado's got
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: blackwood in in Wedgwood. But you adding Bob. You know
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: you look Vegas Golden Knights getting Bob full hotwood.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: You go from Wedgwood blackwood to fullwood.
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: Yeah you Tom Mammoth. I mean there's a there's a
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: spot out there for someone Andie's a rental. This is
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: a last year.
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: We got to post this. If Bob gets traded, this
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: would be unbelievable.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: Last week we have a handout flowers to Nelson's lash
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: Christian family. Talk about families of the Olympics. Mentioned Taylor Hies,
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: your brother Nate last week of course, to the Houston,
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: Ka Chuck families. How about Brock Nelson his family. With
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: Nelson's gold medal, the family now is four gold medalists
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: and hockey have been involved in all three USA gold
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: Medalympic teams. Nelson's uncle Dave Christian probably the nineteen eighty
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: Miracle on ice team. His grandfather a great uncle Bill
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: and Roger Christian members the nineteen sixty US team in
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: Squad Valley.
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: Dude, that's unbelievable.
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: It's crazy. We got to talk to him when they
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: won the gold and you know that was probably the
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: coolest thing is interviewing the guys through the whole tournament
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: and being in the Mixon and seeing guys lose and
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: then win. But it was crazy to seem to get
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: emotional about uh, just the way they you know, the
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: lineage in honoring his family. And how about this stat
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: of like what US has never won an Olympic gold
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: without a player from war Road?
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: Wow, that's crazy.
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: Fucking Warld's gotta what is it war Is it Warroad
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: Minnesota or whatever? There is minneap Minnesota. There's only like
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: two thousand people there and they just bang it. Yeah,
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: they just bang and make Olympic gold medalists, one at
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: a time, one every forty years, the chosen one. You
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: are the Jets and one.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: How of the run. Great job by JD. Jamison Coyle.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: Thanks to Nate Thompson for popping off for the interview
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: with Ryan O'Reilly.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: We'll see you next time.
