- 0:10Speaker 1: Winter Inurance. Did I'm a check both get check things.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Hey, everybody, welcome to Conspiracy The Show. I'm Adam Todd
- 0:36Speaker 2: Brown joining me as special guest co host this week.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Who are you hi? I'm Andy Andy.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, there it is Andy Sell is here. You will
- 0:46Speaker 2: know why I addressed him that way if you listen
- 0:48Speaker 2: to Pod the Life, or heart Shaped Pod or Podcast
- 0:52Speaker 2: Supernova or any of the other music related podcasts, all
- 0:56Speaker 2: of them.
- 0:57Speaker 1: We've done heart Shaped. Oh, oh my god, we forgot
- 1:00Speaker 1: Three Dollars Pod, y'all.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we forgot the podcast that started at all,
- 1:05Speaker 2: the best one, the Limp Biscuit Three Dollars pot. And
- 1:08Speaker 2: here's the thing. You don't have to like any of
- 1:10Speaker 2: those bands to like the podcast. What you're tuning in
- 1:13Speaker 2: for is just the natural raw chemistry between myself, Andy
- 1:19Speaker 2: Soell and Travis Clark. Who, if I'm being honest, we
- 1:22Speaker 2: should have had Travis on this too.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Oh I look, anytime we're talking in Travis isn't here.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I feel the absence, you know what I mean.
- 1:28Speaker 2: We'll get him on one of these because he's a
- 1:30Speaker 2: UFO guy, right, I mean, he has to be right.
- 1:33Speaker 2: He goes to the desert, so fucking much. He's gotta
- 1:35Speaker 2: be aye.
- 1:36Speaker 1: It goes out to Joshua Tree, he drives a tesla,
- 1:38Speaker 1: he listens to queens of the stone Age. Like if
- 1:40Speaker 1: he's not a UFO guy, I don't know who he is.
- 1:43Speaker 2: He drives a tesla, Yeah, doesn't he Wow, I don't know.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I mean, we haven't talked to him in a while.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I haven't seen Yeah, I haven't talked to anyone in years.
- 1:51Speaker 2: So we're doing a very special episode. There's actually gonna
- 1:55Speaker 2: be a bunch of these episodes, But unlike the Jonestown
- 1:58Speaker 2: thing or the Paul Wellstone series, I'm not going to
- 2:01Speaker 2: do them all back to back because honestly, I get
- 2:03Speaker 2: kind of bored after like seven or eight episodes about
- 2:06Speaker 2: the exact same thing. I need to mix it up.
- 2:08Speaker 1: And there's just so much of this.
- 2:10Speaker 2: There is so much. I mentioned on an episode of
- 2:13Speaker 2: Unpopular Opinion a couple weeks ago that as part of
- 2:17Speaker 2: the most recent COVID stimulus bill, it was demanded that
- 2:22Speaker 2: all of our intelligence agencies we have sixteen by the way, people,
- 2:26Speaker 2: all of our intelligence agencies have to release whatever files
- 2:30Speaker 2: they have on UFOs, and against all odds, the first
- 2:35Speaker 2: to the finish line, probably because there's no way this
- 2:38Speaker 2: is all of their files. The CIA.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Wow, Hey, winter Winter Chicken dinner, CIA, come on down.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I did a bar show once and they had a
- 2:47Speaker 2: winter Winter Chicken dinner on the menu and also a
- 2:49Speaker 2: winter Winter Chicken sandwich. I thought that was funny.
- 2:52Speaker 1: How do you tell the difference? I mean, well, obviously
- 2:54Speaker 1: it was a sandwich, but like it was just funny.
- 2:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:57Speaker 1: But uh, by the way, I do want to say, also,
- 2:59Speaker 1: real quick, I loved that episode. I loved it. Oh yeah,
- 3:02Speaker 1: anytime I get to listen to Joe and Olivia, it's
- 3:05Speaker 1: a great day.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah it was. It was a very good episode, and
- 3:08Speaker 2: we briefly touched on some of what we're talking about,
- 3:11Speaker 2: which is those CIA UFO files.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Anybody shocked by the CIA being the one with the most.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Oh no, not at all. And they're the weirdest. I guarantee,
- 3:22Speaker 2: no matter what we get from any of these other
- 3:24Speaker 2: intelligence or law enforcement agencies, these are going to be
- 3:27Speaker 2: the strangest files because it's the CIA. They're like they're
- 3:31Speaker 2: the secret lab intelligence agency. They're the ones that go
- 3:34Speaker 2: down in bunkers and do weird shit and see what
- 3:37Speaker 2: pans out, So of course they're going to.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Have ZIS after World War two as well.
- 3:44Speaker 2: So a Nazi basically founded the CIA, and at the
- 3:49Speaker 2: CIA's launch they were about fifty to fifty SS and
- 3:53Speaker 2: American Office of Strategic Intelligence I think was the precursor C. Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, the os I, who are mentioned the os I
- 4:04Speaker 1: think in these documents, which is.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Fun come up a lot. I mentioned on that on
- 4:09Speaker 2: Pop's episode that I haven't read every one of these
- 4:12Speaker 2: documents word for word, but I have at least looked
- 4:16Speaker 2: at every document, and I have them arranged in folders
- 4:20Speaker 2: by like topic, and then when you get inside the topic,
- 4:24Speaker 2: there's like sub folders. I have one for sightings. It's
- 4:28Speaker 2: there's a lot to dive into it.
- 4:30Speaker 1: There's so much, and there's also like these documents are
- 4:32Speaker 1: also like full of proper nouns, So anytime one of
- 4:36Speaker 1: those comes up, I'm just like, you know, I'm old
- 4:38Speaker 1: enough that I have had to do research without the Internet,
- 4:41Speaker 1: but also my Wikipedia diseased brain is like trying to
- 4:44Speaker 1: click on proper nouns in these documents, Like okay, so
- 4:48Speaker 1: I'm writing them down, like I gotta look these people up.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I gotta figure out oh yeah, Like who was Captain E. J. Ruppelton?
- 4:55Speaker 1: What was he doing at right Field? Man, I'm gonna
- 4:58Speaker 1: find out.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Yeah, there's even one of the episodes we're going to do,
- 5:01Speaker 2: I think actually the next episode in this series at least,
- 5:05Speaker 2: we're going to talk about the two people that these
- 5:08Speaker 2: files seem to be the most concerned with, which are
- 5:11Speaker 2: a guy named doctor Leon Davidson and a guy named
- 5:15Speaker 2: Major Daniel Keho of the US Marine Corps. And those
- 5:19Speaker 2: two really got under the CIA's kraw in the forties
- 5:24Speaker 2: and fifties. It's fascinating, and these files it's kind of
- 5:28Speaker 2: hard to make sense of them, Like if you read them,
- 5:31Speaker 2: they kind of go in chronological order, but there'll just
- 5:35Speaker 2: be bits and pieces of things that are in some documents.
- 5:39Speaker 2: It's like that memory game where you flip over the
- 5:42Speaker 2: card and you go, Okay, the grapes are there. Okay,
- 5:44Speaker 2: the grapes aren't there, but the grapes are there. I'm
- 5:46Speaker 2: gonna look for.
- 5:47Speaker 1: The great grapes. A lot of times with documents like this,
- 5:50Speaker 1: this isn't where the context is, no, it's it's kind
- 5:53Speaker 1: of you have to know what you're looking for sometimes
- 5:55Speaker 1: with these things. Because these guys like they weren't putting
- 5:58Speaker 1: the context in documents the most part, like they would
- 6:01Speaker 1: you know, they would have their meetings that I don't
- 6:03Speaker 1: know whatever the Langley equivalent of the hell Fire Club is.
- 6:07Speaker 1: It's just you know, they're drinking Scotch and smoking like
- 6:10Speaker 1: you know, confiscated cigars from Cuba, like just talking about like, hey,
- 6:14Speaker 1: I mean although this is before that, but like, hey,
- 6:17Speaker 1: I don't know, Wes. I got the I got that
- 6:20Speaker 1: paper your girl sent to my girl and looking over it,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I don't know what it means. And then you know,
- 6:25Speaker 1: Wes is like, well, Tom, okay, let me just explain.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So you know, like last weekend when we were hunting
- 6:30Speaker 1: those you know, homeless teenagers, you know with those crossboards
- 6:35Speaker 1: that Craig got the good deal on, you know how
- 6:37Speaker 1: he was talking about like, well, we need we need
- 6:39Speaker 1: more fear, We need people to be more afraid. You know,
- 6:42Speaker 1: I'm not a big picture guy, Okay, Like I don't
- 6:44Speaker 1: know how to make that happen per se. I'm not
- 6:48Speaker 1: invested in the endgame really, but you know my little
- 6:51Speaker 1: thing is I can kind of help make people afraid.
- 6:53Speaker 1: And I was just you know, I was watching some
- 6:55Speaker 1: UFO movies and you know, they scared the shit out
- 6:58Speaker 1: of my kids. So you know, I think we can
- 7:02Speaker 1: apply this to the grid. They talked context in like meetings, right,
- 7:07Speaker 1: we didn't leave paper trails for context a lot of
- 7:10Speaker 1: the time.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that is what we're talking about, is how in
- 7:13Speaker 2: those early days, the CIA was really interested not so
- 7:18Speaker 2: much in what these things people were seeing in the
- 7:21Speaker 2: sky were, but how could we use them for our
- 7:24Speaker 2: own benefit? How can we manipulate and control them? And
- 7:28Speaker 2: basically they wanted to use them for psychological warfare, which
- 7:32Speaker 2: is we'll get to it. But that's a very interesting
- 7:34Speaker 2: detail given the history of conspiracy theories since then.
- 7:39Speaker 1: It's also funny how it gets there kind of too.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Yeah, but even before that, it's really obvious from these
- 7:46Speaker 2: files that our first thought upon seeing flying saucers in
- 7:51Speaker 2: UFOs was, oh shit, this is probably Russia. We were
- 7:54Speaker 2: obsessed with the idea that this was Russia.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I mean, it was the fifth everything Russia. It was well,
- 8:01Speaker 1: Russia's evil So if there's something we don't know about
- 8:04Speaker 1: there probably behind it. It was just like constant Russia, Russia, Russia, Russia,
- 8:08Speaker 1: you know, like the Brady Bunch.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I mean, That's why we teamed up with the Nazis
- 8:13Speaker 2: in the first place, was because we had a common
- 8:16Speaker 2: enemy in Russia.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Russia, Russia.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah. So interestingly, one of the things we seem to
- 8:22Speaker 2: be especially worried about were the times when Russia didn't
- 8:26Speaker 2: talk about UFOs because we, of course monitored. And when
- 8:29Speaker 2: I say we, I mean the CIA. But it's gonna
- 8:32Speaker 2: get it's gonna wear you out if I just keep
- 8:33Speaker 2: saying the CIA over and over, so I understand I'm
- 8:36Speaker 2: talking about America when I say we.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, in this first document wasn't even really about
- 8:43Speaker 1: the CIA. It was about that Air Force office too.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Well, which one, so it was the what is it the.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Air Technical Intelligence Center, Oh, right field. That was like
- 8:54Speaker 1: just this small I mean, the whole first document that
- 8:57Speaker 1: you showed me is kind of like, you know, it's
- 8:59Speaker 1: mostly just like, all right, we're getting a lot of
- 9:01Speaker 1: these calls. The only people taking these calls is this
- 9:04Speaker 1: small office run by like five people, and this guy's
- 9:07Speaker 1: a reserved so it's not even like, you know, anybody's
- 9:10Speaker 1: looped in. And my favorite part of that too was
- 9:12Speaker 1: the guy what's his name, Yeah, Captain E. J. Ruppolt
- 9:15Speaker 1: rupeelt Yeah, like I did.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I did add I have stuff about that in the notes,
- 9:19Speaker 2: but I added more documents at the top. So shoot,
- 9:23Speaker 2: right now we're talking about two different Oh wow, documentary.
- 9:28Speaker 2: There's one document it's the the second link. We'll link
- 9:31Speaker 2: to all of these. You can download them and.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Read a really redacted one.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Right, it's super duper redacted. And there's one paragraph at
- 9:40Speaker 2: the end of page three, the only section that's not redacted,
- 9:43Speaker 2: and it's about a discussion that someone who's obviously a
- 9:47Speaker 2: CIA asset or informant or agent is talking to an
- 9:51Speaker 2: employee at the US Forecast Center and it kind of
- 9:54Speaker 2: seems like they both work there because he says on
- 9:58Speaker 2: one occasion is how this story starts, which makes it
- 10:02Speaker 2: seem like there have been several conversations and like, no,
- 10:06Speaker 2: one's just loitering around the US Forecast Center.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Not my girlfriend works there. I'm just hanging out there
- 10:12Speaker 1: all the time.
- 10:13Speaker 2: I don't trust her. I sit out in the car.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Look, she's got this guy, this guy Mitch, who works
- 10:18Speaker 1: with her, and she says he's gay, but I don't know,
- 10:21Speaker 1: I don't know. I think he's trying something.
- 10:24Speaker 2: So whatever the case, the conversation is just him asking
- 10:27Speaker 2: this other employee if they've ever had to deal with
- 10:30Speaker 2: UFO sidings, and he replies that at one point two departments,
- 10:34Speaker 2: which names of which are both redacted, had been plagued
- 10:37Speaker 2: with calls and questions about UFO sidings, but that the
- 10:41Speaker 2: calls stopped, and half jokingly that was a quote, half
- 10:44Speaker 2: jokingly surmised that someone must have made a political decision
- 10:49Speaker 2: that UFOs were not to be cited anymore, and for
- 10:52Speaker 2: some reason, that last sentence is underlined, right, And that's
- 10:57Speaker 2: the kind of shit you have to look for exactly.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Those are the things that are like, oh wait, this
- 11:02Speaker 1: seems pretty dry, but what whoa, whoa, whoa?
- 11:05Speaker 2: What is this? Yeah? What are why is that underlined
- 11:08Speaker 2: like that? Because if you just look at these documents
- 11:11Speaker 2: as individual things, most of them won't make any sense.
- 11:15Speaker 2: But you have to fish around for those little clues
- 11:18Speaker 2: like that, because early on we were able to explain
- 11:22Speaker 2: like seventy percent of the UFO sightings that came our way,
- 11:26Speaker 2: but that still leaves like thirty percent that we couldn't explain.
- 11:29Speaker 2: And right from the beginning, there is zero suspicion that
- 11:33Speaker 2: this is aliens. You don't see Aliens mentioned anywhere in
- 11:37Speaker 2: these early documents, and it could just be because they're
- 11:40Speaker 2: about UFOs, but it's also mostly about Russia, Like it
- 11:44Speaker 2: is all Russia at first, and the thing that comes
- 11:50Speaker 2: up later is what they were concerned about. And when
- 11:54Speaker 2: we get into the report that Andy mentioned earlier, one
- 11:57Speaker 2: of the things they are worried about is this idea
- 12:00Speaker 2: that Russia was doing this, and that's why they weren't
- 12:03Speaker 2: talking about it in the press. We felt like, if
- 12:07Speaker 2: this was being done to the United States by someone
- 12:10Speaker 2: who wasn't Russia, Russia would be in the media making
- 12:13Speaker 2: fun of us about it. But yeah, but not.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the thing, because they're not like stupid Americans
- 12:19Speaker 1: baffled by impressive Soviet ship or whatever, like yeah, it's like, oh,
- 12:24Speaker 1: then that's fishy.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and it, I mean it kinda is. Because they
- 12:28Speaker 2: do have a lot of Russian newspaper reports and whatnot
- 12:32Speaker 2: in these files, and they do take some swipes at us, Andy,
- 12:36Speaker 2: I'm not gonna lie.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Nah, come on, they love us, Why why would they.
- 12:42Speaker 2: One of the earliest and most fascinating documents is a
- 12:47Speaker 2: newspaper report that appears to have been published in Greece,
- 12:50Speaker 2: France and maybe Iran. It just says Persian and it's
- 12:54Speaker 2: about how the Nazis started designing flying saucers in nineteen
- 12:59Speaker 2: forty one, and by nineteen forty five they were ready
- 13:03Speaker 2: to move forward with production. But as the war was
- 13:05Speaker 2: coming to an end, they realized they were going to lose,
- 13:08Speaker 2: so they ordered all of these plans and documents about
- 13:11Speaker 2: UFOs to be destroyed. But those orders didn't get to
- 13:14Speaker 2: one of these labs in time, and the Soviets were
- 13:17Speaker 2: able to get those documents and they had been working
- 13:21Speaker 2: on building flying saucers ever since. According to the plans,
- 13:24Speaker 2: these crafts were capable of flying up to four thousand
- 13:28Speaker 2: kilometers per hour, which is twenty four hundred and eighty
- 13:31Speaker 2: five miles per hour at our current exchange rate. I
- 13:34Speaker 2: don't know what it was back then.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I don't mean to scully your molder or anything, but
- 13:39Speaker 1: it does seem like I do want to know more
- 13:43Speaker 1: about this story.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Oh, just the course.
- 13:46Speaker 1: One site seems you know, oh there was only one
- 13:48Speaker 1: site left. Seems a little convenient, but I mean whatever,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I want to like learn more about where this comes from,
- 13:54Speaker 1: because this is like, this is super compelling.
- 13:56Speaker 2: It is, and the names in it, if you look
- 13:59Speaker 2: them up, their real names, and it's not presented in
- 14:02Speaker 2: a sensationalist way. The tone of it. It doesn't read
- 14:06Speaker 2: like the National Inquirer or something. And it's in the
- 14:09Speaker 2: CIA's files, so they wanted to save it for some reason.
- 14:14Speaker 1: It was in their scrap book, and I think.
- 14:16Speaker 2: It's because they were worried that flying saucers were the Russians.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and I mean also, four hundred and eighty five
- 14:23Speaker 1: miles an hour is nuts.
- 14:25Speaker 2: That is very very fast. Yeah. One of the documents
- 14:29Speaker 2: we'll talk about on another episode involved plans for a
- 14:33Speaker 2: UFO that we were having Canada build for US, and
- 14:37Speaker 2: it was supposed to be able to climb to like
- 14:40Speaker 2: one hundred and two thousand feet, and in this document
- 14:43Speaker 2: they're like, yeah, we're in the wind tunnel testing phase
- 14:46Speaker 2: right now, Like, what where is that thing? It's probably
- 14:49Speaker 2: the stealth bomber.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Right yeah, yeah, I mean, for sure, for sure, that's
- 14:53Speaker 1: what became the stealth Bomber.
- 14:54Speaker 2: When I lived in Burbank, one of those flew over
- 14:56Speaker 2: my head and I was like, what's happening? And then
- 14:59Speaker 2: I it was New Year's Day and I realized.
- 15:01Speaker 1: It the fucking Rose Bowl, the Rose Bowl that Iowa
- 15:04Speaker 1: played at. I was at the Rose Bowl that Iowa
- 15:06Speaker 1: played at against Stanford. Fuck Stanford, by the way, and
- 15:10Speaker 1: a stealth bomber flew over and I was like, wow,
- 15:12Speaker 1: that I've never seen one of these in person before.
- 15:14Speaker 1: We shouldn't have that. That shouldn't exist. I don't like that. No,
- 15:18Speaker 1: that's that is that's alien stuff. That is you have
- 15:21Speaker 1: alien stuff.
- 15:22Speaker 2: There's a reason they hit it from us for so long.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Yeah. And also like so forty seven was roswell right, right,
- 15:29Speaker 1: So okay, two year window after like they've already got
- 15:32Speaker 1: after forty five, right, the Nazis were already.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Like they were close to production. Yeah, And that's it's
- 15:40Speaker 2: not like that's something that's said only in this newspaper article.
- 15:43Speaker 2: That's that's been a that's been a rumor for a
- 15:45Speaker 2: long long time.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Well in just the the the demand, power and hours
- 15:51Speaker 1: that Russia could have dedicated to this project. Two years
- 15:55Speaker 1: is not a crazy window.
- 15:56Speaker 2: No.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I mean, it's ambitious, but it doesn't seem undoable given
- 16:00Speaker 1: what we know about you know, the way that the
- 16:02Speaker 1: Soviet machine could run when it wanted to.
- 16:05Speaker 2: And like it's funny you'll see in these documents. At
- 16:08Speaker 2: one point someone sends them a letter and is like, hey,
- 16:12Speaker 2: do you think UFOs, Like, is that maybe just a
- 16:14Speaker 2: foreign government trying to fuck with us? And they write
- 16:17Speaker 2: back and they're like, no country has the technology to
- 16:20Speaker 2: be able to fly a plane here. It's like damn really,
- 16:25Speaker 2: And then you see other documents where they're like, well
- 16:27Speaker 2: it's acknowledged that Russia has the ability to fly here
- 16:30Speaker 2: if they want to, and like they're just telling people
- 16:33Speaker 2: to obviously different things. Yeah, if you can believe that, ah,
- 16:38Speaker 2: I can.
- 16:39Speaker 1: It took a minute, but I found my way to it.
- 16:42Speaker 2: And so yeah, when Russia stopped talking about UFOs and
- 16:46Speaker 2: the state media, they thought it was because they were
- 16:48Speaker 2: the ones doing it, and that's why that fucking one
- 16:51Speaker 2: sentence in that one document is underlined. But they were
- 16:54Speaker 2: also worried that they were somehow controlling or manipulating these
- 17:00Speaker 2: sightings as a means of fooling the American public and
- 17:03Speaker 2: causing chaos.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Okay, now that's one of those things where it's like,
- 17:07Speaker 1: all right, but like why did you say it?
- 17:11Speaker 2: Well, not just that it's a convenient cover if maybe
- 17:15Speaker 2: you want to start testing UFOs, yep, for psychological warfare reasons. Well, yeah,
- 17:22Speaker 2: you're like Russ just doing it.
- 17:23Speaker 1: We gotta do it, yeah, because it really is just
- 17:25Speaker 1: like I mean, it's that kind of the same thing
- 17:27Speaker 1: Rushia do with their state media, where it's like, don't
- 17:28Speaker 1: say it, don't say it, don't say it, don't say it,
- 17:30Speaker 1: don't let anybody know what we got. Don't say it,
- 17:32Speaker 1: don't say it, don't say it. And then here it's like.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Oh wait, yeah, and that's that's kind of the direction
- 17:37Speaker 2: it goes. Once that possibility is even suggested, we decide, yeah,
- 17:43Speaker 2: we want to try and use these as a psyop also,
- 17:45Speaker 2: and reminder, this is nineteen fifty two by this point
- 17:49Speaker 2: where we make that decision, So within five years of
- 17:53Speaker 2: seeing the first UFO we were like, let's use those
- 17:55Speaker 2: to fuck with people. Still no mention of aliens in
- 17:58Speaker 2: any of the Well's well, that's the thing, right, because
- 18:00Speaker 2: it's not until later that we start seeing all of.
- 18:05Speaker 1: The like UFO movies and all of the aliens from
- 18:09Speaker 1: outer spaces are behind Flying Saucers films, and it's almost
- 18:13Speaker 1: kind of like, did somebody tell Hollywood to make these
- 18:16Speaker 1: movies so that we wouldn't think that we were the
- 18:18Speaker 1: ones building UFOs.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean foreshadowing alert. But when we talk about
- 18:24Speaker 2: doctor Leon Davidson, that was his theory was that the
- 18:28Speaker 2: CIA created the UFO phenomenon for that very reason so
- 18:33Speaker 2: they could use it as psychological warfare against us, which
- 18:37Speaker 2: that doesn't sound like the CIA at all.
- 18:38Speaker 1: No, they don't do stuff like that. And it's funny
- 18:41Speaker 1: in the documents too, where there's the one that's just like, well,
- 18:44Speaker 1: we just need more resources to feel these reports and
- 18:48Speaker 1: also if they're real, maybe somebody should be looking into
- 18:52Speaker 1: it intelligence wise. And then immediately the next thing is like,
- 18:55Speaker 1: oh man, these could be used to cause mass hysteria
- 18:58Speaker 1: and panic.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Yeah, and then the CIA's like, shut up about it,
- 19:02Speaker 2: don't say we're involved, don't.
- 19:04Speaker 1: It's it's sort of like the government like spook spy
- 19:09Speaker 1: culture version of you know, the Spencers and hot topics
- 19:14Speaker 1: executives going to like punk shows to find out what
- 19:17Speaker 1: the kids are into. There's even a quote right in
- 19:20Speaker 1: one of these that's like it's a field already charged
- 19:23Speaker 1: with partisanship, in which objectivity had been overridden by numerous
- 19:28Speaker 1: sensational writers. It's like they're they're kind of telegraphing there. Yeah,
- 19:32Speaker 1: they're like, oh, this is this field where everybody's kind
- 19:35Speaker 1: of crazy, so maybe that's a thing.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and it obviously partisanship means it divides people, and
- 19:42Speaker 2: boy do governments love dividing their populace in order to
- 19:45Speaker 2: control them. Turns out they didn't need aliens to do it.
- 19:49Speaker 2: They just needed fucking Rush Limbaugh. Basically, there's three documents
- 20:06Speaker 2: in particular that people should read. Actually, you only need
- 20:10Speaker 2: to read one of them. The other two are kind
- 20:11Speaker 2: of redundant, but they're all about this report that the
- 20:16Speaker 2: CIA sent to the director of the Psychological Strategy Board
- 20:22Speaker 2: about flying saucers.
- 20:24Speaker 1: What is that There are so many acronyms in here,
- 20:27Speaker 1: and so many, like I said, just proper downs and offices,
- 20:31Speaker 1: Like there's even what like right, there's the Unidentified Flying
- 20:34Speaker 1: Objects Section of the Aircraft and Propulsion Branch of the
- 20:39Speaker 1: Technical Analysis Division of the Air Technical Intelligence Center. And
- 20:44Speaker 1: it's just like, wait, that is a whole lot. It's
- 20:49Speaker 1: so much and that's not even Yeah, when you start
- 20:52Speaker 1: saying things like psychological strategic.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that's one of the creepy things about the CIA
- 20:59Speaker 2: is it's so compared mentalized, like not only will they
- 21:02Speaker 2: not tell us what they're doing, but if you're hanging
- 21:05Speaker 2: out in the CIA cafeteria, they're not being buddy buddy
- 21:08Speaker 2: and telling each other what's going on in their respective departments.
- 21:11Speaker 1: No, if you work there, you don't know what's going on.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Yeah, like you don't probably get a guy, You probably
- 21:17Speaker 2: get prison shanked if you ask someone what they're working
- 21:19Speaker 2: on in there.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Yeah, probably someone who works at the CIA has been
- 21:24Speaker 1: directed to kill someone else who works at the CIA,
- 21:28Speaker 1: like from the next fucking cubicle, Like.
- 21:30Speaker 2: It's yeah, what do you what are you here working on?
- 21:32Speaker 2: This is a pretty huge coincidence. But shoots the guy
- 21:35Speaker 2: in the face.
- 21:36Speaker 1: That's what I was here for.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Can you believe it?
- 21:39Speaker 1: That's for putting fish in the microwave. Also, in addition
- 21:43Speaker 1: to it being my job, that.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Is a pretty heinous transgression, putting fish in the work microwave.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Oh you're a monster. Yeah.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Literally.
- 21:51Speaker 2: So this is how right off the bat, this is
- 21:54Speaker 2: how this report that we sent to the Psychological Strategy
- 21:58Speaker 2: Board from the CIA, this is how it kicks off.
- 22:01Speaker 2: I am today transmitting to the National Security Council a
- 22:04Speaker 2: proposal in which it is concluded that the problems connected
- 22:07Speaker 2: with unidentified flying objects appear to have implications for psychological
- 22:13Speaker 2: warfare as well as for intelligence and operations. That is
- 22:17Speaker 2: signed by Walter B. Smith, who was the director of
- 22:20Speaker 2: the CIA at the time.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and that again, that's another one of those things
- 22:24Speaker 1: where it's like, oh that name, Okay, that's I mean,
- 22:27Speaker 1: it's like you can maybe step back and say, well,
- 22:30Speaker 1: it's the CIA. So literally everything they're gonna talk about
- 22:34Speaker 1: is gonna have these implications, right Like, Also, it could
- 22:37Speaker 1: you never know, like this could just be a guy
- 22:39Speaker 1: being like, man, I haven't done a lot of work
- 22:40Speaker 1: this week. If I don't come out with some report,
- 22:42Speaker 1: they're gonna yell at me. So let me just see
- 22:45Speaker 1: what I can bullshit, you know. And maybe it is
- 22:47Speaker 1: a case of like Walter B. Smith just signs fucking
- 22:50Speaker 1: everything there, you know. So maybe it doesn't mean anything,
- 22:54Speaker 1: but I don't know, it feels like it does.
- 22:57Speaker 2: It's a twenty page memorandum exactly. There's a lot of
- 23:01Speaker 2: detail in it, and some of those pages are duplicates,
- 23:05Speaker 2: but it's like fifteen or sixteen pages. It's one of
- 23:07Speaker 2: the longest documents in this thing. And it goes into
- 23:12Speaker 2: a bunch of detail about how at the time, our
- 23:16Speaker 2: entire body of research in the UFOs consisted of a
- 23:21Speaker 2: three man department at the Air Force who was handling
- 23:25Speaker 2: every call, every inquiry, every sighting. And the CIA was like, hey,
- 23:30Speaker 2: we should be doing a little more than that.
- 23:31Speaker 1: What do you think, well, because yeah, it's that division, right,
- 23:34Speaker 1: that's just like the three people.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Yeah, so they're like.
- 23:37Speaker 1: We need to put more into this, we need a
- 23:38Speaker 1: worldwide system the Air Force. Yeah, And that's when the
- 23:40Speaker 1: CIA in this report is like, you know, the Air
- 23:42Speaker 1: Force is changing their process for this, but we feel
- 23:45Speaker 1: like we should do it right. And even that guy
- 23:48Speaker 1: that worked there, Ruppolt, was like, I don't think intelligence
- 23:51Speaker 1: needs to have their hands on this. I think that
- 23:53Speaker 1: this is an operations concerned. The CIA was like, wait, no,
- 23:56Speaker 1: give us that, gimme, gim me, give.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Me and it's it's really interesting. We'll talk a little
- 24:01Speaker 2: bit at the end of this about there's this nineteen
- 24:03Speaker 2: fifty three report that comes out that the CIA ends
- 24:07Speaker 2: up wanting part of it classified, and as that fight
- 24:11Speaker 2: to get this one section of this report declassified carried on.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Eventually it was the Air Force who sued the CIA
- 24:18Speaker 2: was like, you have to declassify that, and they finally did.
- 24:21Speaker 2: We'll talk about it. It is a creepy couple of
- 24:23Speaker 2: lines of text.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I do kind of like that story that Tug
- 24:28Speaker 1: of War where it's like, you know, it's just a
- 24:30Speaker 1: handful of people at the Air Force are like, I
- 24:32Speaker 1: don't know, I don't know if these guys should have this.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Yeah. That when I first was reading through these, this
- 24:38Speaker 2: is one of the things that anytime that report came up,
- 24:41Speaker 2: I read all of whatever they were talking about. And
- 24:44Speaker 2: that particular story it plays out like a movie, like
- 24:48Speaker 2: there's characters who get involved, and there's these moments where
- 24:51Speaker 2: it seems like they're gonna get it declassified, and then
- 24:54Speaker 2: they finally do, and you're.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Like, oh fuck, yeah, way won All those people are
- 24:59Speaker 1: probably dead now, all right. Yeah Timothy Allafunt, he's in
- 25:03Speaker 1: the movie playing the guy that gets it declassified.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Great. So it also talks a lot about something called phantoms,
- 25:11Speaker 2: which are exactly what they sound like, fake UFOs, be
- 25:14Speaker 2: it a machine designed to act like a UFO that's
- 25:18Speaker 2: really just something Russia built, or things that are projected
- 25:21Speaker 2: in the sky, and we were really interested in those.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Again, it's one of those things that it could
- 25:27Speaker 1: read like maybe they're just trying to say we need
- 25:30Speaker 1: to separate the good reports from the bullshit, or maybe
- 25:33Speaker 1: they're trying to say, like, hey, we should get some phantoms.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Yeah, we were worried about them in one way or another,
- 25:41Speaker 2: because there is this quote from the recommendations in that
- 25:46Speaker 2: memorandum taking immediate steps to improve identification of phantoms so
- 25:51Speaker 2: that in the event of attack, instant and positive identification
- 25:56Speaker 2: of enemy rockets or plans could be made.
- 26:00Speaker 1: That on its own is kind of like, well, it
- 26:01Speaker 1: could be you know, hey, we need to know, like,
- 26:03Speaker 1: we can't be shooting at holograms, right, we want to
- 26:06Speaker 1: know what the real thing is because this will muddy
- 26:09Speaker 1: the waters. But then the next thing.
- 26:12Speaker 2: But then there's also this line, is this what you
- 26:14Speaker 2: were talking about? Yes, as far as what happens next,
- 26:18Speaker 2: there's this line also about phantoms, And this is another
- 26:22Speaker 2: of their suggestions determination of what if any utilization should
- 26:27Speaker 2: be made of these phenomena by US psychological warfare planners,
- 26:32Speaker 2: and what if any defenses should be planned in anticipation
- 26:37Speaker 2: of Soviet attempts to utilize them. And they take it
- 26:41Speaker 2: a little bit further and talk about all of the
- 26:44Speaker 2: problems the intelligence community is facing at the time in
- 26:47Speaker 2: regards to UFOs, and specifically they were worried about their
- 26:51Speaker 2: lack of knowledge in the following areas, Whether any of
- 26:54Speaker 2: these phenomena are susceptible to control and can be thus
- 26:57Speaker 2: used either for military or psychological go offense or defense,
- 27:01Speaker 2: Whether any are predictable and can thus be taken advantage
- 27:06Speaker 2: of in military or psychological operations, the present level of
- 27:10Speaker 2: Russian knowledge regarding these phenomena, possible Soviet intentions and capabilities
- 27:16Speaker 2: to utilize these phenomena to the detriment of US security interests.
- 27:21Speaker 2: And the last one the reasons for silence in the
- 27:24Speaker 2: Soviet press regarding flying saucers. So why weren't flying saucers
- 27:29Speaker 2: visiting Russia?
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it's funny because also none of these reports, as
- 27:34Speaker 1: far as I know, mentioned War of the Worlds, which
- 27:36Speaker 1: is like, I mean, that's kind of a microcosmic case study, right, Yeah,
- 27:41Speaker 1: for sure, Like, you know, it didn't freak out the
- 27:43Speaker 1: whole nation the way people think it did, but it
- 27:45Speaker 1: was something and you know, this is this is a
- 27:48Speaker 1: good deal of time after that.
- 27:49Speaker 2: But I'm going to make a bold statement here. If
- 27:53Speaker 2: War of the World's happened. Today, more people would freak out, though,
- 27:58Speaker 2: yeah did back then. Yeah, Like these Midwest Bible thumpers
- 28:03Speaker 2: get in their car to go to work in the
- 28:05Speaker 2: morning and War of the Worlds is playing, They're gonna
- 28:08Speaker 2: fucking drive their car into a church something. I don't
- 28:12Speaker 2: know how. I don't know how that would play out.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Save me, Jesus, Save me, Jesus of coment.
- 28:18Speaker 2: So this is a fascinating set of documents, and it
- 28:23Speaker 2: really sheds a lot of light on how we initially
- 28:26Speaker 2: responded to UFOs and what we were planning to do
- 28:29Speaker 2: about it, and at various points when it talks about
- 28:32Speaker 2: the process we had in place at the time for
- 28:35Speaker 2: documenting UFO sightings, they keep mentioning a questionnaire, and that
- 28:39Speaker 2: questionnaire is in the files. There are two of them.
- 28:42Speaker 2: There's one that's about what Air Force pilots should make
- 28:45Speaker 2: note of when they spot a UFO, and there's one
- 28:48Speaker 2: that's a set of guidelines for people who photograph UFOs.
- 28:52Speaker 2: So I think people kind of have this, like at
- 28:55Speaker 2: least really skeptical types kind of have it in their
- 28:58Speaker 2: mind that roswell happened, and then we found out it
- 29:01Speaker 2: was a weather balloon and that was the beginning and
- 29:04Speaker 2: end of the UFO story, and stuff like this proves
- 29:08Speaker 2: that's not the case. Like the government's whipping up questionnaires
- 29:11Speaker 2: for the Air Force and for budding photographers to get
- 29:14Speaker 2: images of these things. We were legitimately interested concerned. I
- 29:19Speaker 2: don't know one of those two.
- 29:21Speaker 1: It's interesting because they are, you know, on the one hand,
- 29:23Speaker 1: this is like you said, on the CIA and the
- 29:26Speaker 1: CIA park they're all talking about, you know, the psychological
- 29:30Speaker 1: warfare implications of this. The Air Force is like definitely
- 29:34Speaker 1: more interested in like, all right, we need to know
- 29:35Speaker 1: what's real and what's not, Like that's what we care
- 29:38Speaker 1: about here. So they're issuing like all of these you know, hey,
- 29:41Speaker 1: if you if you're taking a picture, here's the rules,
- 29:43Speaker 1: here's how you submit, here's the questions you want to
- 29:46Speaker 1: think about and then submit to us, and that'll help
- 29:48Speaker 1: us decide you know what's it's a filter. Yeah, whereas
- 29:52Speaker 1: this it's almost like the CIA knows something that the
- 29:54Speaker 1: Air Force doesn't. That.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the thing, Like, that's the way that the
- 30:00Speaker 2: way this progresses. That's either the CIA knew something all
- 30:03Speaker 2: along or at some point they figured something out. Yeah,
- 30:06Speaker 2: And they were like, all right, we're not talking about
- 30:08Speaker 2: UFOs anymore.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Yeah, And I just think with the number of Nazis
- 30:11Speaker 1: working at the CIA even at this time.
- 30:15Speaker 2: That's the thing, Like, are we supposed to think these
- 30:17Speaker 2: Nazis stopped being Nazis when they joined the CIA? Of
- 30:22Speaker 2: course not. They became Nazis. They hate black people, that's all.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. They it just became Nazis with a new
- 30:28Speaker 1: frontier for their agread yeah exactly. You know, Oh hey,
- 30:32Speaker 1: we were getting bored I hate in this group of people. Wow,
- 30:35Speaker 1: there's so many more new ones to hate over here,
- 30:38Speaker 1: I think. Yeah, because the Nazis, like, look, they knew,
- 30:42Speaker 1: you know, some of the people working there had to
- 30:44Speaker 1: have known, you know, had to have had receipts on
- 30:47Speaker 1: some of the stuff that was being built in their bases.
- 30:50Speaker 1: When the Soviets showed up, oh like you know, they're
- 30:53Speaker 1: not and they're gonna be like, I don't tell the
- 30:55Speaker 1: Air Force. Let them, they're gonna tell everybody. Just let
- 30:58Speaker 1: them think that it's this other thing. And we got it.
- 31:00Speaker 1: We know, we know what it is. We know what
- 31:03Speaker 1: it really is over here.
- 31:04Speaker 2: And here's the thing we're we're talking about the Cia.
- 31:07Speaker 2: So even that article that said the Soviets stole plans
- 31:11Speaker 2: for UFOs from one single Nazi base, that could be
- 31:15Speaker 2: an article we planted, right, because that it seems more
- 31:20Speaker 2: likely that they would document that, because like it's it's
- 31:23Speaker 2: like a murderer keeping trophies, like they're gonna keep a
- 31:27Speaker 2: document of their success. And maybe that's what they were
- 31:30Speaker 2: trying to do was convince people this is Russia.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Yeah, no, Russia, Russia's got them. It's not us. It's
- 31:36Speaker 1: not all look at Area fifty one, it's not that's
- 31:38Speaker 1: not us. That's something else.
- 31:40Speaker 2: That's why we need to look into it for psychological
- 31:42Speaker 2: warfare reasons, because Russia's doing it. Hey, that's very, very possible.
- 31:47Speaker 2: There's a really interesting passage way down on the thirteenth
- 31:51Speaker 2: page of this report about how the Air Force Group
- 31:55Speaker 2: plotted a map of unexplained sightings Yeah yeah, and found
- 32:00Speaker 2: that a lot of them happened around nuclear installations or
- 32:04Speaker 2: strategic Air command bases, which that's interesting. But then they
- 32:08Speaker 2: also add a tag to it where they're like, but
- 32:11Speaker 2: it could just be because people in those areas look
- 32:13Speaker 2: at the sky more. It's like, oh, yeah, I guess,
- 32:15Speaker 2: but I don't know that it's the unexplained ones that
- 32:19Speaker 2: are all near nuclear sites in Air Command. That's weird. Yeah,
- 32:24Speaker 2: the Air Force should have definitely been involved in this
- 32:27Speaker 2: more because they were at the same time, the.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Air Force and the things are in the air.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and at this time they were working on something
- 32:34Speaker 2: called Project Lincoln, which was our first ground based air
- 32:39Speaker 2: defense system. So probably gonna want to rope with the
- 32:42Speaker 2: e in on that.
- 32:43Speaker 1: They even say that right in the report with the
- 32:46Speaker 1: Air Force. I'm sorry, the Air Force report, they even
- 32:48Speaker 1: say that, where they're like, yeah, we kind of think
- 32:50Speaker 1: that Project Lincoln should be in on this. We think
- 32:53Speaker 1: that's probably where this information should go. Maybe that's where
- 32:56Speaker 1: the reports should go.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I would agree.
- 32:58Speaker 1: And then the CIA is like, but yeah, but people
- 33:03Speaker 1: are mentally conditioned to the acceptance of the incredible show.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the thing there are in this report. Also,
- 33:13Speaker 2: it says there have been fifteen hundred sightings since nineteen
- 33:17Speaker 2: forty seven, which I don't think that's how history tells it.
- 33:20Speaker 2: I think we have heard about what like five or
- 33:23Speaker 2: six from that time, but fifteen hundred, fifteen hundred, that's
- 33:27Speaker 2: a whole lot.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Yeah, And it was a craze. It was sweeping the nation,
- 33:32Speaker 1: all the rage.
- 33:33Speaker 2: And in this official report it says flying saucers posed
- 33:36Speaker 2: two elements of danger which have national security implications. The
- 33:40Speaker 2: first involves mass psychological considerations and the second concerns the
- 33:45Speaker 2: vulnerability of the United States to air attack. And then
- 33:48Speaker 2: there's another line about the psychological considerations. Here it goes,
- 33:51Speaker 2: let me know if you agree Americans, a fair proportion
- 33:54Speaker 2: of our population is mentally conditioned to the acceptance of
- 33:58Speaker 2: the incredible. Man, I'm not comfortable here in the CIA
- 34:02Speaker 2: say that at all. No, no, because again Leon Davidson,
- 34:07Speaker 2: the guy they're most interested in, was like, hey, you're
- 34:09Speaker 2: faking this. This isn't this isn't real. And CIA was like, no,
- 34:13Speaker 2: we're not.
- 34:15Speaker 1: No, stop it.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Many we didn't do it.
- 34:17Speaker 1: You did it. You did it.
- 34:19Speaker 2: The Soviets got those, we were we don't even know
- 34:23Speaker 2: any Nazis. And yeah, that line is concerning because of
- 34:28Speaker 2: what happens next. By nineteen fifty three, there's an advisory
- 34:33Speaker 2: panel that had put together a report about the concerns
- 34:36Speaker 2: about UFOs and possible solutions called the Report of the
- 34:40Speaker 2: Scientific Panel on Unidentified Flying Objects Very on the Nose,
- 34:44Speaker 2: title and despite having a whole lot to say about
- 34:48Speaker 2: the possible psychological warfare potential of UFOs in nineteen fifty two,
- 34:54Speaker 2: by nineteen fifty three, the CIA didn't want their name
- 34:57Speaker 2: mentioned with this project in any way, shape or form.
- 35:02Speaker 2: And here's the thing. They sponsored it. It was the
- 35:06Speaker 2: CIA's idea, and by the time that report came out,
- 35:10Speaker 2: they were like, sh don't tell anyone we care about UFOs.
- 35:15Speaker 1: That's not our kid. That's not our kid. Given with
- 35:18Speaker 1: a lot of intelligence agencies, maybe one of them is
- 35:20Speaker 1: the Maybe it's their kid, it's not us. We didn't
- 35:23Speaker 1: do it.
- 35:23Speaker 2: It's very suspicious.
- 35:24Speaker 1: My name's Frankenstein doesn't mean that your kid who's named
- 35:28Speaker 1: Frankenstein is my kid.
- 35:42Speaker 2: They also demanded that a couple of short passages be removed,
- 35:47Speaker 2: but very important ones, specifically the conclusions stated in paragraph
- 35:52Speaker 2: three and the recommendations in paragraph four B and will
- 35:56Speaker 2: on a future episode get into the back and forth
- 35:59Speaker 2: between them in the Air Force and Leon Davidson to
- 36:02Speaker 2: get this declassified. It carries on for years, yeah, years
- 36:07Speaker 2: and years and years, but eventually those sections were declassified.
- 36:11Speaker 2: And here's what they said. This is paragraph three. The
- 36:14Speaker 2: panel further concludes that the continued emphasis on the reporting
- 36:18Speaker 2: of these phenomena does, in these perilous times, result in
- 36:21Speaker 2: a threat to the orderly functioning of the protective organs
- 36:25Speaker 2: of the body politic. We cite as examples the clogging
- 36:29Speaker 2: of channels of communication by irrelevant reports, the danger of
- 36:33Speaker 2: being led by continued false alarms to ignore real indications
- 36:36Speaker 2: of hostile tactics, and the cultivation of a national psychology
- 36:40Speaker 2: in which skillful hostile propaganda could induce hysterical behavior and
- 36:45Speaker 2: harmful distrust of duly constituted authority. I'm so glad nothing
- 36:50Speaker 2: like that ever happened in the United States.
- 36:52Speaker 1: That is a fucking slam poem.
- 36:55Speaker 2: It is, and it's also creepy how rele event it
- 37:00Speaker 2: is to right now.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Gosh, yeah, no, it's a good thing that this doesn't
- 37:04Speaker 1: apply to us in twenty twenty one at all.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Like it sounds like they're talking about social media.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Yeah, this is basically literally, this is a slam poem
- 37:14Speaker 1: about Facebook.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and yeah, they're talking about fake news. They're talking
- 37:18Speaker 2: about false claims clogging up the channels that you would
- 37:21Speaker 2: use to call and say, hey, Russia's sending a bomb
- 37:24Speaker 2: our way And then there's paragraph four B here that
- 37:27Speaker 2: goes the panel further concludes that the national security agencies
- 37:32Speaker 2: institute policies on intelligence training and public education designed to
- 37:37Speaker 2: prepare the material defenses and the morale of the country
- 37:41Speaker 2: to recognize most promptly and to react most effectively to
- 37:45Speaker 2: true indications of hostile intent or action. And the CIA
- 37:50Speaker 2: was like, Nope, we're not going to do that. Don't
- 37:52Speaker 2: tell people that, don't tell them anything about psychological warfare
- 37:56Speaker 2: or being defrauded by fake UFOs, don't even put our
- 38:00Speaker 2: name in this fucking thing.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Yeah, And it's the fact that they wanted them classify
- 38:04Speaker 1: that creates the suspicion, because exactly again, on their face,
- 38:08Speaker 1: these are things that are kind of like, well, yeah, sure,
- 38:11Speaker 1: but if somebody's like, don't tell people that, it's like wait,
- 38:15Speaker 1: why yeah, why? And why why don't you want me
- 38:19Speaker 1: to tell everyone that silver bullets kill werewolves? Why? Actually
- 38:23Speaker 1: that sounds like something a fucking werewolf would say.
- 38:25Speaker 2: And like their argument for paragraph three was that, well,
- 38:30Speaker 2: that's telling our enemies how they can attack us, and
- 38:32Speaker 2: that I kind of buy.
- 38:35Speaker 1: But the thing about what are you faxing this report
- 38:37Speaker 1: directly to the Russians exactly.
- 38:40Speaker 2: But the thing about not telling the public or like
- 38:43Speaker 2: giving the public some training on spotting fake UFOs, that's
- 38:47Speaker 2: highly suspicious that they wanted that taken out. Yeah, and
- 38:51Speaker 2: it ends up being the thing that that Leon Davidson
- 38:54Speaker 2: guy is most suspicious about. That's why he wanted this
- 38:58Speaker 2: thing declassified, because he was like, CEI is faking this
- 39:02Speaker 2: dun dund dundon.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, the plot thickens, So yeah, it'll seem even
- 39:07Speaker 1: more suspicious when we get into doctor Leon Davidson on
- 39:10Speaker 1: the next episode. Yeah, because there's no other reason why
- 39:13Speaker 1: they wouldn't want that said, unless you know, just like logically.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I mentioned this on the un Pops episode also,
- 39:19Speaker 2: but that idea that at some point the United States
- 39:24Speaker 2: is going to pull like a fake alien invasion to
- 39:28Speaker 2: institute a one world government that is the heart of
- 39:31Speaker 2: the new World Order conspiracy, Like that part where they
- 39:35Speaker 2: project the thing into the sky in conspiracy theory circles,
- 39:39Speaker 2: it's called Project Bluebeam. And I read a there's a
- 39:44Speaker 2: free thirty two page book on Amazon, one of the
- 39:47Speaker 2: most underrated sites for like no one ever is like,
- 39:52Speaker 2: did you see this fucking conspiracy documentary on Amazon? Like,
- 39:56Speaker 2: no one is ever worried about the shit Amazon posts
- 39:58Speaker 2: and it's some of the craziest, craziest shit. But uh,
- 40:02Speaker 2: this was a book. It was thirty two pages, No sources,
- 40:05Speaker 2: didn't cite anything. It read like a manifesto about the
- 40:09Speaker 2: new World Order. And here's the thing. I kind of
- 40:11Speaker 2: feel like that's the best source. So at some point
- 40:16Speaker 2: we probably will dive into that book also because it
- 40:19Speaker 2: all I feel like, that's kind of what this is
- 40:21Speaker 2: all building up to, is, at least to some extent,
- 40:24Speaker 2: is people thinking the CIA is faking all this.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Which the end of Watchman again.
- 40:30Speaker 2: But it also you always hear that thing where they're like, yeah,
- 40:34Speaker 2: they want you to think the CIA is faking this
- 40:37Speaker 2: or is doing this to pull off some massive fraud,
- 40:39Speaker 2: when really we're just working with weapons the likes of
- 40:42Speaker 2: which would shatter your belief in God if you knew
- 40:45Speaker 2: they existed. So yeah, you go think the CIA is
- 40:50Speaker 2: doing this for Jolly's.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. It's always right, there's always the like,
- 40:55Speaker 1: oh man, that's the cover up with this kind of stuff.
- 40:58Speaker 1: You kind of can't win because it's always is gonna
- 41:00Speaker 1: be oh that thing you think that's the false flag
- 41:03Speaker 1: that's what they want you to think. It's actually even
- 41:06Speaker 1: crazier until it's like, well, okay, interdimensional. It's also versions
- 41:11Speaker 1: of ourselves from a future timeline are doing this, and
- 41:14Speaker 1: it's not because of any kind of like investment in
- 41:18Speaker 1: world domination or world salvation. It's just how they entertain themselves.
- 41:23Speaker 1: It's a prank show for a future timeline, that's all
- 41:26Speaker 1: it is.
- 41:26Speaker 2: It's also one of those conspiracy theories that true or not, Like,
- 41:32Speaker 2: if it's true, that's just the world we're living in,
- 41:35Speaker 2: and that's that's where we're fucking headed. I mean we
- 41:37Speaker 2: are not. That's why when people are like, oh, are
- 41:39Speaker 2: you worried the CIA is gonna kill you? Fuck no,
- 41:41Speaker 2: they know, like what's gonna happen. I'm gonna stop the
- 41:44Speaker 2: New World Order with this fucking podcast.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Of course, not anytime the word the term New World
- 41:50Speaker 1: Order enters into a conversation like this, it's like I
- 41:53Speaker 1: just have to throw my hands up and be like, Okay, well,
- 41:56Speaker 1: I guess what are we gonna do about it? Literally nothing?
- 42:00Speaker 1: Do you have alien weaponry in your basement that you
- 42:02Speaker 1: can use to go on some crazy fucking mission. You
- 42:07Speaker 1: can't stop it? If they're gonna do a new world order.
- 42:10Speaker 1: They're gonna do a new world order, and hey, that's
- 42:12Speaker 1: the way it is.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Here's the thing. People aren't gonna like this, especially not
- 42:15Speaker 2: conspiracy theory types. But if I was alive when this happened,
- 42:19Speaker 2: and I know everything I know about conspiracy theories, I'd
- 42:23Speaker 2: be a little proud, Like I would be like, fucking
- 42:28Speaker 2: ay they did it. Get like, yeah, I believe whatever.
- 42:32Speaker 2: I'll take your new fangled religion. What the fuck ever? Sure?
- 42:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Look, if you're gonna put the chip in, I
- 42:37Speaker 1: want it on my right side because I sleep on
- 42:40Speaker 1: my left side sometimes and it's you know, I feel
- 42:43Speaker 1: like it's close to the heart, and I just think
- 42:45Speaker 1: I feel like it'll mess up my chip reception. So
- 42:48Speaker 1: right behind the right ear, if you could, if that's
- 42:50Speaker 1: where the chip's going.
- 42:51Speaker 2: If you follow the timeline, you'll have the chip before
- 42:54Speaker 2: that happens, because that's how the voice of the projection
- 42:58Speaker 2: will sound in your head.
- 42:59Speaker 1: And oh, that's right, that's right, that's right. Can I
- 43:01Speaker 1: get my chip in a like? I want a satanic
- 43:03Speaker 1: flavor to it? So like, could you put a little
- 43:05Speaker 1: six six six on it? Like? I know no one's
- 43:07Speaker 1: gonna see it, but I just like to know it's there,
- 43:09Speaker 1: just for for giggles.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I want mine, like on my forehead so it's noticeable,
- 43:13Speaker 2: like you can see it under the skin. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 43:16Speaker 2: especially if it glows. If it glows, I want it
- 43:19Speaker 2: dead center.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, yeah, what's that?
- 43:21Speaker 2: It's my third eye.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Give me some William Gibson fashion ship. I want some.
- 43:25Speaker 1: I want Yeah, I want a literal third eye. I
- 43:28Speaker 1: don't care if it's cybernetic, give it to me.
- 43:30Speaker 2: But yeah, like if this is one of those like
- 43:32Speaker 2: the New World Order. If you if you think you're
- 43:35Speaker 2: dedicating your life to fight in the New World Order,
- 43:37Speaker 2: I guarantee what you're dedicating your life to is being
- 43:39Speaker 2: tracked by the government on the internet. That's all. That's
- 43:44Speaker 2: all you're doing, all your fucking New World Order message boards.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Yeah you are, you are the radical element.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Is but gonna be getting hassled at the airport anytime
- 43:54Speaker 1: you want to fly to a convention. Congrats.
- 43:57Speaker 2: But it's but it's fun to talk about.
- 43:59Speaker 1: No, Oh, it is fun to talk about. It's always
- 44:01Speaker 1: fun to talk about, like it is. It's I hate
- 44:04Speaker 1: that I'm this cynical, but it's like a prestige TV show.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Like reading these documents, I feel like I'm watching mad Men,
- 44:11Speaker 1: you know.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it really is a snapshot in time, even the
- 44:15Speaker 2: stuff in the nineties when we like the entire country,
- 44:19Speaker 2: like we didn't have any enemies, so so.
- 44:21Speaker 1: We went back to aliens again for a little bi Yeah.
- 44:24Speaker 2: Well, no, not even that. All of the CIA files
- 44:26Speaker 2: in the nineties are just like reports about what's on
- 44:29Speaker 2: local television in different areas, and then occasionally there will
- 44:32Speaker 2: be a UFO report. So that's where our UFO research was.
- 44:36Speaker 2: By the nineties, we were watching televisions.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Occasionally some civil war they're stoking in the Balkans or something.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Yeah, one that we probably caused with a UFO.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Yeah, harp. Actually it's Dracula related. All of our Balkans
- 44:50Speaker 1: CIA missions were Dracula related. No UFOs. They've seen UFOs there,
- 44:56Speaker 1: it's not they're not impressed by it anymore. But vampires
- 44:59Speaker 1: they still that cuts deep over there.
- 45:01Speaker 2: So also HARP is how they're going to do the
- 45:05Speaker 2: projection in the sky in case you were wondering, which
- 45:07Speaker 2: harp is very weird. It's this array of like telescopes
- 45:14Speaker 2: or not telescopes. What are they they're like lasers, they
- 45:18Speaker 2: can shoot energy into the ionosphere. And they're based on
- 45:23Speaker 2: this patent that if that patent works, you can control
- 45:28Speaker 2: the weather with it. Like scientists have looked at it
- 45:30Speaker 2: and been like, fuck, this would work, but it requires
- 45:34Speaker 2: that the beam be really centralized. And there's this CBC
- 45:39Speaker 2: in Canada is super into conspiracy theories, and they have
- 45:43Speaker 2: a whole episode about HARP and they're interviewing this government agent,
- 45:48Speaker 2: some like from some US intelligence agency, and he's being
- 45:51Speaker 2: so smug and like cagy about answering shit, and at
- 45:56Speaker 2: one point she's like, well, if this patent works the
- 46:00Speaker 2: way it says it does, it would control the weather.
- 46:01Speaker 2: And the guy goes, yeah, but in the patent it
- 46:04Speaker 2: says you have to focus the beams. And this woman
- 46:07Speaker 2: pulls out a HARP training manual and flips it open
- 46:11Speaker 2: and goes it says right here that you can focus
- 46:14Speaker 2: the beam, and the guy just smiles at her in shrugs.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Well, what do you what?
- 46:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you got me. Now what are you going to
- 46:22Speaker 2: do about it? We will send a signal to destroy
- 46:26Speaker 2: your home up to the ion a sphere. Fucking try us.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Yeah, have fuck getting fried from space today?
- 46:33Speaker 2: Idiot. And there is when I did we did an
- 46:35Speaker 2: episode about HARP. I had to use the wayback machine.
- 46:38Speaker 2: But there was a point on the HARP website where
- 46:41Speaker 2: it said that we were using it for defense purposes also,
- 46:46Speaker 2: and then that eventually got that part got scrubbed from
- 46:49Speaker 2: the website.
- 46:49Speaker 1: That weather that's how he killed Galactus when he came
- 46:53Speaker 1: to eat the plant. Don't you remember that, like nineteen
- 46:55Speaker 1: ninety gosh, I'm trying to remember, I for it was
- 46:57Speaker 1: before or after the Macarena.
- 46:58Speaker 2: I think that's right. I think up in the atmosphere when.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Yeah, so Galactus was going to eat the planet and
- 47:04Speaker 1: they used HARP to kill them, right.
- 47:06Speaker 2: But that's why Fukushima happened. Also, Oh yeah, for sure.
- 47:10Speaker 2: And you mean take the good with the bad butterfly effect.
- 47:13Speaker 1: You keep digging, right, you keep peeling back the layers
- 47:15Speaker 1: of this onion. Pretty soon Courtney Love, we get Courtney time. Yeah,
- 47:21Speaker 1: these documents are interesting and I need to spend more
- 47:24Speaker 1: time with them, because again the first one I read,
- 47:26Speaker 1: I read a few of them in their entirety. I mean,
- 47:29Speaker 1: obviously not the ones that are redacted to shit, right,
- 47:31Speaker 1: everyone that read those are dead. But yeah, that first one,
- 47:34Speaker 1: it's just it kind of like paints this sort of like, well,
- 47:36Speaker 1: we need to put more resources into figuring this out,
- 47:39Speaker 1: because if these things are real, we need to be
- 47:41Speaker 1: ready for them and figure them out. And even if
- 47:43Speaker 1: they're not real, they free people out and someone could
- 47:46Speaker 1: use that to do some bad shit maybe, And then
- 47:49Speaker 1: the CIA documents are like, hey, what was that bad
- 47:52Speaker 1: shit that we could do? Because we want to do it.
- 47:54Speaker 2: And then a year later they're like, don't tell anyone
- 47:56Speaker 2: we care about this.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly exactly will get you.
- 48:00Speaker 2: We'll get you. I should mention the source of these documents.
- 48:05Speaker 2: I mean, obviously it's the CIA, but also there's a
- 48:08Speaker 2: website called the Black Vault dot com And if you
- 48:12Speaker 2: look at these documents you'll know it's from the Black
- 48:14Speaker 2: Vault dot com because their website image is plastered at
- 48:17Speaker 2: the bottom of a bunch of them. Thanks to them
- 48:19Speaker 2: for putting this out in a way that people can
- 48:22Speaker 2: just access it and download it, and we'll link to
- 48:26Speaker 2: it in the show notes for this episode, so you
- 48:28Speaker 2: can go read twenty seven hundred CIA files about UFOs
- 48:32Speaker 2: and Andy. Do you know what else they have? What
- 48:35Speaker 2: the FBI's paranormal files. We should probably talk about those
- 48:41Speaker 2: at some time. Yeah, that is exciting.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I wanted ed Lorraine Warren. We're fucking FBI agents.
- 48:48Speaker 2: Oh probably.
- 48:49Speaker 1: I don't know if that's I don't even know if
- 48:50Speaker 1: that's a theory, but I'm it sounds fun, so I'm
- 48:53Speaker 1: saying it.
- 48:53Speaker 2: They were a problem of some sort.
- 48:55Speaker 1: They were. I mean, they're the fucking worst.
- 48:57Speaker 2: They were there.
- 48:58Speaker 1: They were awful, horrible, evil people.
- 49:02Speaker 2: And so are the Conjuring movies.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I love the first Conjuring movie. But
- 49:07Speaker 1: we really need to we really need to get rid
- 49:09Speaker 1: of them in the horror genre. They are a problem.
- 49:12Speaker 1: We need to we need to be done with the Warrens.
- 49:15Speaker 1: It's not cool to make them look cool. I get it.
- 49:18Speaker 1: Via Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are hot. I get it.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Haven't played somebody else. The fucking Warrens were trash. But
- 49:25Speaker 1: I want to see if the FBI has a report
- 49:28Speaker 1: on Amityville.
- 49:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that would be fascinating. Private unlisted YouTube videos.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Oh I gotta go check that out. Well, what through
- 49:36Speaker 2: the Freedom of Information Act? They have private unlisted YouTube videos?
- 49:40Speaker 2: Too hot for the Internet.
- 49:42Speaker 1: God, I don't think I want to see anything that's
- 49:44Speaker 1: quote unduly too hot for the internet.
- 49:47Speaker 2: So yeah, thank you to the Black Vault for compiling
- 49:49Speaker 2: all this in a way people can access it. Do
- 49:52Speaker 2: we have anything to plug before we get out of here, Andy,
- 49:55Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 49:56Speaker 1: I don't know if we do, do we? We may
- 49:59Speaker 1: or may not have a new season of The Music
- 50:03Speaker 1: Podcast coming up?
- 50:04Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we're doing a
- 50:07Speaker 2: new season of The Music Pod about Steve Earle.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm really excited for that. That's like the seventh
- 50:14Speaker 1: choice we've made, I think.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Yeah, we really went back and forth because we were
- 50:18Speaker 2: gonna do Marilyn Manson and it turns out he's scum,
- 50:20Speaker 2: so we can't really do that.
- 50:22Speaker 1: There were a number of acts that we've talked about,
- 50:25Speaker 1: but I'm excited for Steve Earle.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Yeah. He's interesting. Yeah he is. He's a character.
- 50:31Speaker 1: He sure is. Well, he's literally a character on Tree
- 50:34Speaker 1: and The Wire. I mean not, he's an actor on
- 50:36Speaker 1: those shows playing a different character.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Right. But you know what, I've never seen Tremee. But
- 50:41Speaker 2: he is Bubble's AA sponsor on The Wire.
- 50:43Speaker 1: He's he's good Tree. He's not I don't want to
- 50:45Speaker 1: spoil anything, but he's not in a lot of it.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Oh, does he get abducted by aliens?
- 50:54Speaker 1: Actually harp to make Katrina happen?
- 50:58Speaker 2: That is a rumor, Andy that it is a rumor.
- 51:00Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure it is. I'm sure it is.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if I have anything else to plug.
- 51:05Speaker 1: I've got new episodes of Goal School on the way.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I have a new podcast on the way called Look
- 51:09Speaker 1: Good for the Boys, a horror gossip podcast. You can
- 51:12Speaker 1: follow us on Twitter at Look Good Number four Boys.
- 51:16Speaker 1: That's our Twitter. I think our Instagram has just Look
- 51:19Speaker 1: Good for the Boys. I don't know. I'm not in
- 51:21Speaker 1: charge of our social media, but that's coming. New episodes
- 51:25Speaker 1: of Goals School are coming. Yeah. Nothing other than that

- 51:34Speaker 2: Oh that's right. Yeah.

- 51:37Speaker 1: gonna be fun.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Yeah. I cried when I saw in the Earth in theaters,
- 51:41Speaker 2: but not for the same reason you're gonna cry. And

- 51:52Speaker 1: I'm not gonna pay for it now.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the missed X. The happening gross. If the

- 52:07Speaker 1: that's true.
- 52:07Speaker 2: As far as my plugs, we're gonna be changing the
- 52:10Speaker 2: Patreon and supercast levels soon, so beyond the lookout for that.
- 52:14Speaker 2: We're gonna streamline things a little bit because I got
- 52:18Speaker 2: a lot of fucking shows. I can't do them all
- 52:19Speaker 2: at once, so be on the lookout for that. I'm
- 52:22Speaker 2: launching a sub stack soon so you can give me
- 52:25Speaker 2: money to write and help me pay off my massive
- 52:27Speaker 2: tax debt. That will be called alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Friends.
- 52:32Speaker 2: It's already out there. You can go sign up for it.
- 52:34Speaker 2: I just haven't written anything yet, so but you'll know
- 52:37Speaker 2: when I do, and then you'll be able to start
- 52:40Speaker 2: funneling funds in my direction in exchange for articles and things.
- 52:45Speaker 2: I'm not gonna take a second job and not get
- 52:46Speaker 2: paid for it, you know, Yeah, Oh yeah.
- 52:48Speaker 1: For sure. No, why would you do?
- 52:50Speaker 2: And I think that's it.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Should we get out of here?
- 52:52Speaker 1: I don't I mean maybe, you know, I don't have
- 52:55Speaker 1: anything to do. If you want to just like hang
