- Lucas: Okay Luna, we've covered a lot of body parts already — head, foot, hand, eye, mouth, arm, leg, back, shoulder, ear, neck. But we missed two really important ones. Luna: Ohh, which ones? I hope it's not anything gross. Lucas: No, nothing gross. Today we're learning ሆድ — that's stomach — and ልብ — that's heart. Luna: Hod and lib. ሆድ and ልብ. Lucas: Exactly. ሆድ is stomach. Let's say it together: ሆድ. Luna: ሆድ. Lucas: And ልብ is heart. Say it with me: ልብ. Luna: ልብ. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if your stomach hurts, you can say ሆዴ ይታመማል — 'my stomach hurts.' Break it down: ሆዴ means 'my stomach,' ይታመማል means 'hurts.' Luna: ሆዴ ይታመማል. Lucas: That's it. So if you ate too much injera and your stomach hurts, you'd say ሆዴ ይታመማል. Luna: Oh, I can imagine that. ሆዴ ይታመማል. Good to know. Lucas: Now heart. ልብ. In Amharic, 'I love you' is እወድሻለሁ or እወድሃለሁ. But there's also a phrase using heart: ልቤ — 'my heart.' Luna: ልቤ. That sounds sweet. Lucas: You can say ልቤ ይወድሻል — 'my heart loves you.' But let's stick with the basics. ልብ is heart. Luna: Okay, so ሆድ for stomach, ልብ for heart. Got it. Lucas: Let's practice a little scene. Imagine you're at a restaurant and you ate too much. You could tell the waiter: ሆዴ ይታመማል. Luna: ሆዴ ይታመማል. Waiter, my stomach hurts. Lucas: And if you see someone you love, you could say: እወድሻለሁ, ልቤ. 'I love you, my heart.' Luna: እወድሻለሁ, ልቤ. Aww, that's cute. Lucas: Exactly. Now let's do a quick review. I'll say the English, you say the Amharic. Stomach. Luna: ሆድ. Lucas: Heart. Luna: ልብ. Lucas: My stomach hurts. Luna: ሆዴ ይታመማል. Lucas: I love you. Luna: እወድሻለሁ. Lucas: You're doing great. You know, I love making these episodes because of listeners like you. Quick honest thing — a handful of listeners chip in monthly through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo, and that's literally what funds making this many of these. Luna: Yeah, it's true. If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Amharic, that's where you can support us. No ads, just language. Lucas: Totally. So back to ሆድ and ልብ. Try using them today. If you eat a big meal, say ሆዴ ይታመማል. If you're feeling love, say እወድሻለሁ. Practice makes progress. Luna: And if you forget, just remember: ሆድ is stomach, ልብ is heart. Thanks for learning with us!
