- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I explained.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: How was your Ramadan?
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Alhamdulillah, it was really good.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah?
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: It was nice.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: I liked it.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: It was it was probably the worst Ramadan for me.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: In terms of spirituality.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Oh no, not mine was.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: I I'm I'm happy with where I landed.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: That's good.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Because for me, the first week I was okay.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Like with reading, you know, because I read Quran like every year.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: This is the first year where I didn't finish it.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: You know what's interesting?
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: I just gave up.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Like at a certain point, I'm like, gotta be please forgive me.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: But like I just I don't have it in the I don't have the energy.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: I think it's I don't know.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: I I I I love when people set goals, right?
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: I did set goals and I failed misready.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: It's okay.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: I also think it's like it's okay.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: This this year was really this year is really rough.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: I went into Ramadan with like very um little like um goals of anything.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: My goal was to survive.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: Not survive fasting, no, survive like emotionally.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: Like this is my uh the first Ramadan without my dad.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: I'll let it.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: Um, I mean, so it was very like that's it.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: I'm like, we're just gonna make it.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: This Ramadan's gonna be okay, we're just gonna make it, it's gonna be alright.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Um and you know, it was no, I tried.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: I I I did better than I thought I would.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: I tried.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: And I'm just like, you know, I'm not gonna beat myself up over it.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Um I did my best.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And like with the time, because it like, like if I was around six, right?
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: And so it's just not enough time.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Like if you go to work, you're dealing, you're trying to, you know, get home and make food in time for everybody to eat.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: And I'm just like, by the time you eat, you're just exhausted.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, just like, you know what?
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: I'm feeding people who are fasting.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: That should give me a few, you know, extra points.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: You mean your family?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Excuse me, I'm not obligated.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: They can buy food or they can order food.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: I don't have to cook.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And you're telling me how you just mean that.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: What about you?
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: What about you?
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: No, I actually, you know, I enjoy cooking.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: I don't I enjoy feeding the people I love.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: You know that.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: But I've gotten to a point in my life where I feel like I don't enjoy anything.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, that's just with everything that's happened.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Because I was telling you, every every day feels like it's a season finale of a fucking show.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Like, I swear to God, like, what is going on?
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: I cannot watch like and it's not watch the news, honestly.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Because obviously I don't watch the news, it's just like being online.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Um, I do it, it's so every day there's so much happening.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: And you're like, oh my god, and then you look this way, and then you look that way, and then they're like, wait, the Epstein files, wait, we're going to war with Iran, wait, but there's so much happening every day, and I don't know what to do with myself anymore.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: No, it's not.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: And obviously, like for me, it's this is and I I feel like it's been this has been going on for a really long time.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: It's not just this year.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: Um, it's been, you know, since 2023.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: That it's just been this whirlwind of of stuff that's happening.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, about the genocide, obviously.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: And no, I'm just saying, I'm just saying because you get into this thing where at first it's so overwhelming and it's so sad and it's heartbreaking.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: And, you know, you talk, you post, you talk, you post, you talk, you post, and then it becomes so normalized that like you don't, I like I don't know what to do with myself sometimes, you know, anymore.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: It's still happening.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: It's not like it's not happening, you guys.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: It's still happening.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Um, and then you have you know, the just all of these things that were like revealed when the FC and file came out, and I I my brain is like I don't want to sound like I'm like I'm like I'm not you know empathetic to the struggles or but I'm so overwhelmed.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a lot.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: I don't think the nervous our nervous system is supposed to handle all this and then forget all of this stuff on the side, and then like the first of January my dad dies.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: So I'm just like I literally don't know what to do with myself sometimes.
- 4:11unknown: Yeah.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: No, I mean it's really bad.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: And I was telling you, I was it you that I was talking to or someone else?
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: How I think it was you were texting.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I think I'm convinced we have high functioning depression.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Like we are doing, we're nonstop, like and and depression, because I I think like with everything that's happening, like our our bodies, our our nervous system is like, what the hell is happening?
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Like with everything.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: It and and like you and I both have responsibilities, and you know, we we have to get things done, right?
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Like, so so we're doing it, but it leaves no room for anything else for us to do because we don't have the mental capacity, honestly.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Like, this is how I feel.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't have the mental capacity to do anything beyond or above what is the absolute bare minimum necessity.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Like, I just and and I'll I'll I'm I know I'm not the only one that feels this way, okay?
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Like I've spoken to you about it, and this is from, and there was actually a a news article about this like a few days ago.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: They called it political depression.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: But I'm like, it's not political.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: This is more than politics.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: This is like like this is I don't think that's the right way to describe it.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we have political oppression.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Yes, Mishpay, but like like morally speaking, like it's it's it's more about that than than actual politics, but like with so many things happening, like so many shitty things happening in the world, so many injustices and the oppression and the utter bullshit, and like the total disregard for human life, okay, the total disregard for human life and human rights, okay.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: It's just I I can't, I I genuinely I feel like my body's like, what in the actual fuck is going on?
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: And I know I'm not the only one that feels that way.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah, there is, there is you but you know what my scroll brain okay, tell me how to shoot.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: No, so it's like despite everything that Lena is like talking about, like how we are constantly feeling the world is ending, you know, like regular life just keeps happening.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: And regular life just keeps happening.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Like, two was it yesterday, the day before, I was out with my sister and Susan.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: You guys met Susan, yes, yes, right?
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: And we were talking about finding husbands and getting married and having children and no, but like despite that, like life just is obviously obviously fine.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: And she's in a and and Susan's like she's has her own high functioning depression around because everything that's happening in southern Lebanon, and that's where she's from.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Um, but it's I mean, I don't even think it matters if you're I think if you're just a Lebanese, period.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: I think if you're if you're a person who cares about people in general, yeah, but I think it's just it's I it's so hard.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: It's so hard.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: But like I said, despite all of that, like regular life keeps happening, and I like don't know my my teeny tidy brain cannot handle all of that.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: And that's what I'm saying, my squirrel brain.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: I was just thinking about that the the the other night.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: Like all of the stuff that's happening, and we still have time to, you know, like regular life just keeps happening.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, regular life keeps happening, but for me, like this stuff is always at the back of my mind.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Like, I feel like I'm like I can't like I don't know, like I'm I'm like forced into this place, into this mental state of constantly like But I also think it's your work.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Maybe a huge part of that.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's what happens when you do news for a little bit.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: I know, but it's not just my work, Hanan.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Like, I I generally I hate what's happening.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: I hate what's happening everywhere.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Like I think Lena should go to therapy.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: I'm not going to therapy, okay?
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: Like, like nothing against going to therapy.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: I love I think it's I think it's important.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: This is my therapy for you.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: You know that, right?
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: It's it's not just work, Hanan.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: It's not, it's not because of that.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: It's because of the shit that you have to do.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Like, like with ice, you know, what happened, like all that shit.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Okay, the Epstein files and all those little kids, poor things.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: Like everywhere you go, it's like shit.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Shit.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Shit, shit.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: And it's and it's honestly every time, you know, it's like I'm just like, I'm like, what do you're gonna do this?
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: And then the brand just knows, I'm just gonna get stuck and I'm gonna die.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: Literally.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: And then and then just like a few days ago, the little 18-month-old Palestinian kid being fucking tortured and abused by Israeli soldiers, like fucking burning him with cigarette.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: But it's like, what is I can't do?
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: What's happening?
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're like, what is happening?
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Okay, and all the shit that people in Gaza are still going at.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: Like the the I think what is it, over a million people displaced in Lebanon?
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Okay, like the girls getting killed in in Iran.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: I can't, dude.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: It's it's it's too much.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: But it's not just like, and and then like with Iran specifically, you're like, okay, so now you know, there's people dying as a result of the of the of the airstrikes by the Americans and the Israelis, but then there's also people dying at the hands of the RGC.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, yeah, I need the where what what what about these people?
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: What about the the people who regular people who just want to live?
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: They just want to live.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: I saw a meme and I think I posted it.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: And like, you know, like this is how I don't know how you've been dealing with this.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Like, my it's like dark humor for me.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Like this is how I keep kind of myself like a little bit.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: I don't know, you know what?
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: Like, I I don't even know how I'm dealing with it because to be honest with you, like I am on the best way to describe me right now is I think we're all like that.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: No, but like I'll try to share like some funny memes.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: And like there was one, like this was right before I aid, and and the thing said, uh, feel ma'amul fina.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Okay, like you can translate that.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, basically, like this year we're not gonna make ma'amul.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: Ma'amul is the cookie because it means like it's being done to us.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: So that's yeah, it's it's a pun on words.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: And then I'm just like, it's and then like the whole and then another meme was like the whole Middle East in Sab Belain.
- 9:39unknown: Okay.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Like the whole Middle East got the evil eye.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know, man.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: It's just I don't know.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: I it's honestly like I I I like that is actually a really good question.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Like, how are you dealing with it?
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: I don't know, because there are days where like I immediately I go and I look and see what's happening, and then I just feel like the world is gonna end, so I turn off my phone, but then I'm like, oh my god, I'm so lucky I can actually turn off my phone.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: People who are living in it can't turn off outside, right?
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: Like they can't turn off what's happening above them in the skies and stuff.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: So I don't, I don't know.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: In addition to that, you know, you have like, you know, you're well me, I'm dealing with my own grief.
- 10:13SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: So it's there is that that whole other level of of stuff.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: And it's weird, like this this year started off for me just like really just with a bang, not in a good way.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: And then like a a week later, two of my friends lost their father.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: And then two months later, one of my friends lost her mom.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: And it's just or three months, because Mar it was beginning of March, lost her mom.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: And so it's it's just that it's a lot, it's a lot.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then I'm like, all of these wonderful people are dying.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: Does this mean we're the bad ones?
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: No, that's not what it means.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: You know, sometimes I think about that.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: No, I don't think that's you know, like Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala takes the people he loves.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: Does he not love me?
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: Stop.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: That's not what that means, okay, like if I don't die this year.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't know.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: I think I I think I and I've you've we've talked about this before.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: I think after 2020, like the last good year was 2019.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: 2019, like there was just some normalcy to it, okay?
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: And I'm sure it was like a shitty year, just like all the other years, but at least it wasn't shitty.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: I'm saying alhamdulillah.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: I'm saying it was the most normal we've had.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: And like, you know, when you say normal, that's like relative, obviously.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: Okay, but something had like the pandemic came and it destroyed everything.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it it did destroy a lot of things, but also like I um I don't know, like we're on a whole different timeline.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: We we are, we are, and but the pandemic came and it kind of changed the a lot of the way we do stuff, but we're kind of back to pre-pandemic ways in the way that we do stuff, but a lot of people died because of the pandemic.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: A lot of people lost loved ones because of the pandemic, and then it was just every year after that.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: It's getting it's like worse and worse.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: I I don't, I don't, I don't know.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: I don't even know what to say anymore.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: I'm just like, I'm like, we're surviving, right?
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: Like it's okay.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and that's why I'm like, how are we have all this stuff is happening and we still have like regular everyday life bullshit we gotta deal with too.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, this this this podcast is supposed to make people laugh and have fun.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Look at us.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: Are you laughing?
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: She's laughing.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, and above all above all this, okay, fucking AI.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: Okay, AI.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: Now I gotta worry about AI taking over the world.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's we're kind of already there.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's horrible, dude.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: Honestly, like You know why it's horrible?
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: Because of all of the AI fake videos that like the moms and the moms group sent around or your aunts and stuff send to you.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: And like it bothers me so much because like like of fake dancing babies.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: No, I'll I'll be honest.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Like in the like the the max I ever used was like maybe chat GPT here and there, and then like my kids found out I used it and they got so mad at me.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: Oh, because of the water conception?
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: They're like, oh my god.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they like totally totally I'm like, oh my god, okay, I'll never use it again, okay?
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: Like and I'm not even doing, I'm not even like doing that stupid like animation bullshit and all those videos, you know, whatever.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: But like they're like, don't do it.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: It's not good, right?
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: But it is helpful.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: So I stopped doing that.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: But the thing is, it's like every day you're reading, there's no, like, it's really scary, Hanan.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: It really is.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: Like when you when you dig into it and like there's no like guardrails for these companies, these tech companies, like there's no regulation, there's no laws against them.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: Ma'am, I'm aware, I'm in tech.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm just like, dude, it is when you look at like I'm like, this is another thing I have to worry about.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: This is another thing that's a good thing.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: This is gonna take over the world.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be like that.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: What was that?
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, data centers.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: What was that old Arnold Schwarzenegger movie where it was like halfway Terminator?
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: Was it Arnold Schwarzenegger?
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: Cyborg, remember that?
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: Was it Arnold Schwarzenegger?
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: You're talking about um was it John Claude Van Damme?
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: No, no, it was him, it was Arnold Schwarzenegger.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: I don't know, guys.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: Like that's my that's my I know what movie you're talking about.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Anyways, it was like half man, half robot, and it was like everybody was like taking over the world, but it makes me like think of that, you know.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: But I'm also really appreciative of technology, yeah.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: But they they need regulation.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: They do need regulation, they need regulation.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna tell you guys people are working on it because I don't know.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I mean, like, now what this administration is gonna be like do whatever you're gonna do.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Like, no one gives a shit.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: Like, no one truly nobody gives a shit.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Okay, like we like and yet this, I can't.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: I can't.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: So, you know, since we have time, um, and we are we're talking about like other cool things, right?
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: Is this cool?
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: What part of what we're doing?
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, not this.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: Not we're talking about oh, okay.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: We're talking about cool things.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: Let's talk about some cool things.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay, that's fine.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: And I wanted to uh I wanted to shout out a friend's podcast that he just started.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: And it's actually my friend David.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: He's one of my old colleagues.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: David, yeah, David.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: It's called Nobody's Side, right?
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: Nobody's side, nobody's side.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: Lena put a link because I love the way he approaches his podcast.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: So what is it?
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: What is it?
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: It's all about what divides us, like the things that divide us politically as a country, right?
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: So he does this thing where he's interviewing people who are on the opposite spectrums politically.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: I think he told me about it.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: Only to find out that people are actually really similar in their beliefs.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: And so it's a it's a very cool thing.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Like it's a and I love the his approach because it's very like it's very scientific.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: He's a behavioral scientist, so it's like, but you know what?
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: That this is this is the conclusion that I've come to a long time ago.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Whereas it's not just we're very similar or we all want the same things in the in the long run.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: I think there is a big concerted effort in this country.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: And I think there's a lot of on purpose to like it's very specific.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: I think we need to stop thinking about.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: I mean, like listen, there are some people on the other side.
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: I cannot okay, like I get that.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Me too.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: Okay, but there, but there is there is a concerted effort to separate people by scaring them and pushing this divide because there's a lot, like like there's not a single person, whether you're on the left or right or center, that agrees, like there, there's a lot, there's a lot of us that are against what happened to these little girls and children at Epsian Island, right?
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like regardless of where you stand on the political spectrum, right?
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: I think that's something we can all agree on.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Um, you're either like evil or you're not.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, this is the and then there's other things like whether you know what's happening with all the funding that goes to Israel.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: You know, like there's whether you're on the left, right, or center, a lot of Americans don't want that, right?
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: So I think where there's a lot there's where we have a lot more in common than we realize than that because they don't want us to.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: Like, for example, they tried so hard, and they're still trying to this day.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Like we, you know, with what happened with TikTok, you know, like selling it to this person who has he's probably donated the most amount of money to the to the Israeli military, okay?
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Like, and and who are suppressing any kind of free speech, and it's not just limited to to poor Palestine people, okay.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: TikTok is a whole different world right now, yeah, okay, than it was a year ago or two years ago, okay?
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: So they're trying so hard to control the narrative.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: Something is wrong here, okay.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: If you're apolitical on TikTok, you're doing totally fine.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: Oh, for sure.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: As long as you're not talking about anything if you're I mean, honestly, and it's not about I'm not talking about like the the I'm not talking about like the Palestine issue, I'm not talking about Gaza, I'm talking about any politics.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: Even anything, even like the the ice race, anything, like if you are apolitical, you're doing fine.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: If you're pushing like get ready with me and fashion content, you're doing you're perfectly fine.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: But that's why you guys really like I found David's podcast to be so enlightening.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'll put a link.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: Like it's I just love the approach and I love the idea.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: And I told him, I said, you know, I gotta take this like show on the road.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: And he is um, he's I I like I you guys will really enjoy it.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: How long has he been doing it for?
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: I think he's got like season, he's on season two.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: So I did season one with him.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: I did an episode with him.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: Um, and then he's on season two right now.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: And what kind of questions did he ask you?
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: So uh it really all kinds of stuff.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: Like about it's not really so much about policy, it's it really is a little bit not like not so much about not specific political questions, but more like you know, how you feel about certain things.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: And it's interesting because when you see, you kind of really do align with people who are supposed to be on the opposite political spectrum of you, right?
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: As human beings, we both all believe.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: So is there another guest there at the same time, or is it just no one?
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: But he but he does it together, like he loops all the guests together on topics.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: It's really you have to watch it.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'll check it out.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: It it's just send me the link and I'll post it.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: The concept is so cool.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: And I love the approach because, like I said, it's a really scientific approach.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah, to to like how similar we actually are.
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: And it's interesting because David had also written a book, and I like and I David, you're getting a lot of free advertisements from me.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: But um, but it is it, it's I just love the approach.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: He had written a book also called Judge Not, and it was about like, hey, before you pass judgment on someone, what if you were truly to put yourself in their situation, in their shoes, and truly see sort of what happened across their day or across that moment to make them behave this way.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: Um, again, behavioral scientists, so make sense of it.
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't, I don't like to, I don't, I I try my best not to judge.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, sometimes No, but it's really interesting.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: The again, his approach in the book, I'll lend you the book, it's right here.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: It's really cool.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: This reminds me of our conversation we had yesterday.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: About what?
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: About this person I know who was on her third marriage.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, I'm not judging.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: God bless.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: But like, I don't understand it.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: Like there's a that was a that was a topic shift.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: No, I'm just saying because you said judging, and I'm like, I don't want anyone, like when I was talking to you, I'm like, I don't want you thinking I'm like judging your.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: No, I don't, it's not that, and and here's the thing, right?
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: Like, and it's funny, Lena and I were talking about like people who are getting, you know, who get married.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: No judgments.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: It's totally fine.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: I think everybody has different reasons.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: Absolutely, but I'm just like, I personally wouldn't do it.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: I just don't understand it.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: When you pause and you look at it, like look at what, look at what you've gained from your marriage, right?
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: Okay, and whether forget, I want you to take your feelings out of it, right?
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: Like, okay, let's let's do this like very like um, let's do this like pragmatically.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: Okay, right.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: Um you have a really cute house.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: You have and I'm I'm going based on, you know, if I was just to look on paper.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: You have a alhamdulillah, I have a really cute house, right?
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: You have a a very like you have a her her husband is an acts of service human.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: That's true.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: He's an acts of service person.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: So he takes care of everything, right?
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: A lot of stuff.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: So you have somebody who does, and the funny thing about him, about about Ramjad is that people know that.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: Like, because it's not just for Lina, he's just an acts of service person.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: Like, that's how you know he cares about you, right?
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: Um, you have two beautiful children, alhamdulillah.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: Okay, you have a thriving career.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: And you did all of that in your marriage.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: Okay, right?
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: So some people look at that, and if I was to list it out on paper, check, check, check, you did a great job.
- 20:37SPEAKER_01: So why would you want to be married again?
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: If you look at it, it's just that simple, right?
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: Other people may not be able to check all those boxes.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: But you think you you're talking to me like I'm judging.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: I'm not judging.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Like, I get it.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm not talking like judging.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: I'm just saying, like, no, it's not judgment at all.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: But I that's what I mean about like, what if we just break it down to something that simple?
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: Maybe they're not able to check all those boxes.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: And that's why they're like, okay, well, maybe if I had a personal time, yeah.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: If I do it another time, you know, and I don't know.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but you can I don't know.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: Look, here's the thing.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: You would have to do that.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: That's a topic for another day.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: I think it's a whole other thing.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: You know, I just like when you mentioned the judgment.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: When you mentioned the judgment thing, and like it just popped in my head, and I'm just like, when I when I comment about something funny, it's not that I'm judging, I just like sometimes I don't understand it and I want to talk through it with you.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say, I was gonna say, I think next time we do this, we'll bring a friend who now has lots of time who can talk to us exactly about that.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: Oh next time.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: Okay, okay, okay, halas after she's gonna tell me once or something.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love how Lena treats the episode like we're sitting like having coffee.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: She's gonna tell me once we leave.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: Dude, yeah.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: I mean, like I mean, it's sucks for you guys, but you'll find out you'll find out the next episode.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: It'll definitely be the next episode.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: Because I think that that would be a wonderful topic because she will be able to talk us through why she did it again.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm I'm I'm curious.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: Okay, she tani, you got anything else?
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's a lot of things just in life going on in life.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: Okay, I mean for this episode.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: No, no, this is just a nice uh catch.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think this was good.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: But I hope everybody um with in light of everything that's happening in the world, I hope everybody is safe.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: I hope your family is safe.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: Uh I hope your inshallah, I hope your loved ones are safe.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: And I am making collective ya for all of us.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: Yes, collective prayer for all of us.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: Inshallah.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, inshallah, every time the next time we we get together, things will be better, but I don't know.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know, to be honest with you.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, not I don't know.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: I literally does feel every day feels like its final, you know, episode, season finale.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: It feels like the the Red Wedding on Game of Thrones every single time.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Every single every time I wake up.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: That's it, that's exactly that's what I'm saying.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: Every day that can be its own sound.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: Like, right?
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: Seriously, speaking, dude.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: I almost had a panic attack getting my hair done.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: Like three weeks ago, because like like shit, dude, shit, shit, like happened.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, you don't like with this stuff, it like creeps up on you, dude.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: It does, it does.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: Okay, and I'm just like But that's my happy place.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: I don't have panic attacks when I'm getting my hair done.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: That is truly my happy place anyway.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: Shout out Lauren if you're in the DMV, glow atelier.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: Alhamdulillah.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: The glow atelier.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: I said that's so weird.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: Glow Atelier, okay?
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: Okay, I she's awesome.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she's cool.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: No, she like really sets up like the perfect vibe for you to be in there, chill.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: Uh, it's just her and Stephanie.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: Stephanie's my girl.
- 23:34unknown: Okay.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: You got anything else?
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: No.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Are we done?
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: We're done until next time.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: See you guys next week.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: Goodbye.
