Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: Thanks for tuning in.
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: You're listening to Propaganda with Mick and Jacob.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: It's been a while.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: I know it's not, it hasn't been a while since we posted a video, but it's been a while for us.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: We recorded before Fourth of July, and I don't know what I did, but I accidentally posted that that uh segment, that video for the next Wednesday.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: I don't know what happened.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: So the video, the episode was more Fourth of July themed after the Fourth of July, but it was really meant for Fourth of July week.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: So it's been a while.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: Glad to be back.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Um a lot's happened since we were last back.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: Honestly, yeah.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: This is a uh a bigger piece of news that I want to talk about from last week.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Uh Senator Lindsey Graham died.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: He's the senator for to South Carolina.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: It's kind of crazy what happened.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: It's not it's not just about him dying.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: It's not just about what people are saying.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: It's not just about how he died.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: It's kind of all the things together.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: I think the he's 71 years old, and it was like a tear in his main arteries, how he died.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So I'm not calling out like a 60.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's pretty I feel like that could be called 71.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it could happen.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: He had no like prior illnesses or diseases or anything like that, no other sicknesses, you know.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: But it's not the craziest thing that's happened for a 71-year-old.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: He was in perfect health.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: He was totally fine on his flight back from Ukraine, where he just landed.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Um, he was visiting a drone manufacturing plant in Ukraine doing drone inspections, and then came back to the US and died.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: So that's a little suspicious.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: There's the Russia-Ukraine war, obviously.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Uh it's still going on, it's not really going anywhere.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: So it's not like that war is ramping down at all.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: It's suspicious that he's going over there to do that, and then he comes back and dies.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: The bigger question is, what is he even doing there, anyways?
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: He's a senator to a state.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Why does he care about what type of drones Ukraine's making?
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I never really understood that.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, so we can talk about all that stuff.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: What I wanted to talk about though is what people said after he died.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: I thought that it was well known that he's a pro-war, very pro-establishment.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Now he's pro-Trump, you know, very like ideal Republican, kind of part of the old establishment, and he's kind of corrupt and he f goes and bats for all these foreign countries to fight their wars.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: I thought that that was really well known.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: And I guess it is, but people don't care or they don't choose to see it.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: I saw him getting a lot of love from Republicans, from the right, from conservatives.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Not like, oh, he was a great man, we should honor him.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: You know, there was some of that too.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: But it's like he was the best, he was the ideal senator.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: He fought for the people of South Carolina every day, and he he woke up and went to battle in Washington.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: And it's like, okay, um, he kind of helped start a lot of wars and was always lobbying for foreign wars and always involved in them.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: And I think it's pretty fair to assume that he was probably getting some sort of kickback and financial incentive in that way as well.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: He was bought and paid for by the pro-war lobby, you know what I mean?
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: By Ukraine, by Israel.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Like, I thought that was well done, and I thought that that's actually kind of a bad thing for a senator.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: The senator should be for the people for his state, you know.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Like, he should have their interests in mind.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: He should, yes, he's going to DC to, you know, vote on all these things.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: But he should have the interest of his people.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: And I'm not saying that he never had the interest of his people, but it is like okay, his career was certainly not made about his people, it was made about other countries, other wars.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And he he'd say that all the time.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: That's not a secret.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: What's just surprising to me is that you see what they call now MAGA, you know, not what it used to be, not what it could have been, but what they call now MAGA, pro-Trump supporters.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Like all these people are defending him.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: And I don't know if you saw this, but like it's interesting that all of a sudden all of the support and love comes out of the woodworks.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: What do you mean?
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: Just when someone passes, when someone goes, it's always all the sudden they were the greatest person ever.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: And they're but I'm talking about it's known that he is a corrupt guy who does not care about his people and is always lobbying foreign wars.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Well, that's what I mean.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: And that's like that's not a good senator at all.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: And then he dies in it kind of a suspicious way, kind of whatever.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe he was just old, that happens.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: But it's like Fox News, Ben Shapiro, Daily Wire, all these people, they're like glazing him for for what?
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: For being a diehard patriot for his state that he very well that he represented to the day he died.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: And it's like by definition, it doesn't sound like he was much of a patriot at all.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: So what's crazy is Lindsey Graham used to be he used to be a never Trumper.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: He used to not like Trump.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Now Trump calls him one of his best friends, you know.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: I guess the point I'm trying to make here is like did Lindsey Graham change?
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Did Trump change?
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Did the movement change?
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Something's different, you know?
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Same thing with Vance, same thing with Ben Shapiro, same with all these people.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: It's like they hated Trump at the start in 2016.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: And you want to make this argument, Trump was actually a way more ideal candidate in 2016 than he was in 2020 or in 2024.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Maybe not necessarily what he did in those four years from 2016 to 2020, but in what he stood for, what he ran on, what he promised, he was way more of a disruptive figure, way more of breaking out of like the regular political structure, you know?
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: Absolutely, yeah.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: And that's why a lot of these people hated him back in 2016.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Now you have 2020.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Now you have 2024.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Here we are, 2026, halfway through his second term.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: And all these people, they're not only supportive, not only proud of him, not only love Trump, they're telling us that we are not MAGA.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: They're MAGA.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: You know, Trump even posted about this.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: He said, Tucker Carlson, Megan Kelly, Candace Owens, um, Alex Jones, they're not MAGA.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: He said, Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro, JD Vance, they're MAGA, you know?
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Like he tweeted about that.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: So it's it's coming down from the top, even.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: He is, Trump is now like singling out and pushing into different people into his movement.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: And it's like, hey, these people weren't with you at the at the start.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: These people stand against everything you stood for at the start.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: It's only because you and your movement, you have changed your movement and changed your camp to include other people that would have never been in it, you know?
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: And that's what I think the Lindsey Graham death speaks to like more for me.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: Is like It's almost a sign of how it changed.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: How it was.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Because MAGO is not about that.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: MAGO is about taking care of the home front.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: MAGO is about taking care of the citizens, the people that elected you, your constituents, staying in America, defending us here, not going over and fighting foreign wars, not taking lobbyist money from different groups from different countries.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: That's that's what MAGO was built on in 2016.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Here we are, eight years later, ten years later now, in halfway through a second term, and it's totally changed.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: And as it's changed, the people in the movement, you and I, voters like you and I, like we've moved out a lot of us.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: A lot of other people have slowly moved in or crept in or moved moved the actual goalpost of what MAGA was.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: So it's just it's just a shocking reminder to me that the establishment didn't really go away, it just changed.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: And in fact, they kind of took over like the the what the MAGA movement was supposed to be.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: The MAGA movement used to have the slogan America first.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: That was their big thing.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: That was Trump's big thing.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: That's when he said it, you know.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: He said America first America first.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: He said it'll be it'll be only America first, you know?
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: And it's like have not shown America first at all.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Fox just came out and admitted this.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: We knew this for a while now.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: I think we've talked about it on the show, but they released like that that the deportation numbers were like 350,000 people.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: It's like that's not enough.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: That's nowhere near, yes.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: That's nowhere near what we what we need to be at, where we need to be at.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Trump was talking about mass deportations, building the border wall, like strict defensive measures on our southern border, locking down the interior, you know, helping helping all these agencies get these people out.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: That's what he was talking about.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Now it's like, ah, we deported 300,000 people, good stuff, you know.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: And it's like, no, millions and millions and millions of people came here under Biden.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: It's not enough to deport 300,000 people.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: It's not what you promised.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: In fact, he's walking back all these, all these measures.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: They just talked about this how you can't arrest them out, you can't arrest them where they work, you can't arrest them where they live, you can't do traffic stops and arrest them, you can't arrest them out in the street without a warrant.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: It's like, so now you have all these barriers.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: It's like, that's not what we were promised, anyways.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: And not to go back into the whole ice thing, but that's just an example of how the goalposts changed, what the promises were made versus what's happening now.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: But it's not just like, oh, he didn't follow through on that one.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: It's like, no, his stance on that has changed.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: What they say they do and what they have done is different.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: And that's changed not only for what they say, but also for who's in the camp of MAGA.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: So the ice thing is just another example.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: The the border, the foreign wars, the the all these foreign lobbies.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: It's like, those are just examples.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Um, we're gonna talk about here in a second here.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: Um, like MAGA Trump, it used to be about caring for Americans, understanding what they needed, understanding what would be good for them, how to help them.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Carolyn Levitt the other day.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, you can you can take it from here.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: Carolyn Levitt, who that's his White House press secretary, that's someone he chose.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: She should be the same as what his policies were, what he promised, you know.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: She's spoken to the other thing.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: For the Americans, yes, for the people, understanding their needs, not belittling them, not treating them like a secondary class.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: And she doesn't.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: No, it's it's been this, honestly, the whole attitude of this administration recently is this demeaning of especially the new generation of voters and the new and upcoming adults.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: Um, Carolyn Levitt, she was recently on um Jesse Waters prime time.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: And they both argued that all of these 20-something year olds, they all they always complain about rising costs of living.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: And they're they and it's because they've never actually had real jobs before.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: So they don't really, they can't really give their two cents on this.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: And Levitt agreed and stated boldly that some of us Gen Z Americans were raised with, quote, solar spoons in our mouths, and that we've grown too comfortable with getting everything handed to us.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: And that's not what this country stands for.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: Gen Z is not acting like what this country stands for.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: You're not worried about it enough.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: I could not disagree with her more.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I think that's insane that she even got up there on that show and had the audacity to say that as Gen Z, she's 28.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: She said she claims to be Gen Z in the video, too.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Oh she's obviously speaking for herself, for us as a generation, too.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: And I'm not saying that she hasn't worked hard.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: I'm sure there has been hard work on her part, but it feels disconnected to come from a woman that has married this millionaire.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: She married with a 60-year-old multimillionaire.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: And it's like, girl, okay, not all of I mean, I guess I could go do that, but not all of us had that opportunity.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: It's great that you have that kind of money at your dispense.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: The point is, too, is that's not that's not working.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: Like Gen Z marrying a 60-year-old multimillionaire, that's not, you want to talk about what the country stands for, that's not what the country stands for.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: The country stands for Gen Z, college-age kids, young kids being able to go out in the world with with with or without a degree and make themselves something, you know, make something of themselves.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Make this world, you know, into something that that helps them, that benefits them, whether that's their job or an entrepreneurial like aspect or in in any sort of like in any sort of other sector, like that's what this country was built on.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Making something for yourself, doing doing things.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Like, but she's pretending, or maybe she's maybe she's this disconnected, I don't know.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: But she's pretending, like, oh, Gen Z has never had a held a real job.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, well, Gen Z is like what, age 16 to like 30 at this point, age 16 to 28.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: Like, and that's where I hate that they say that because we haven't really had the chance to be in a, I guess, quote unquote, real job for that long.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: A lot of us, a lot of us haven't.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: A lot of us haven't yet, but a lot of us are currently in real jobs right now.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: So just because we're in a one year or a two year, or you're you're brand off, you're you're straight out of college, or you're in a, you know, you're finishing your internship in a just because you're in that scenario doesn't mean you don't have a real job.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: The point that she's saying is like, oh, they don't have real jobs, oh, they've been handed everything, oh, they they've been had they've been fed silver spoons and they don't they don't learn how to work hard and they're not what this country stands for.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: It's like, no, in reality, I believe there's a lot of problems with Gen Z I do.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: But in reality, we are working hard.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: People are doing what they can to get by.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: It's a very tough economy, it's a very tough economic system we're in right now.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: And for her to dismiss that, not see it, demean it, belittle it, and we've seen it a lot, not only from her, but from the ruling class, from boomers, from all these people.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: And it's like, okay, put yourself in our shoes.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Look at around you.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: Look what you guys actually, you guys, the older people, look what you made for us and for our generation.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: You you guys know it's true too, because you talk about it as Gen X, as Gen Y, as as these millennials, Gen X, and Boomers.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: Like you guys talk about, oh, things are so expensive.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, the new car, I can't believe it's oh, this vacation, these flights, oh, this our second home is too.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: And it's like, yeah, it's expensive.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Guess what?
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: We're at the bottom of it, trying to get our way up.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: And I'm not saying other generations haven't had hard times, but for her to sit here and pretend like we're doing something different, you know, by not having a real job, not working hard, expecting too much.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: And I don't, I don't know, like, give us a second.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: We're still a pretty young generation.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: It's just disconnected.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: I don't like how they act like we're we're like 45 and we should have these like giant careers making six figures already.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: It's just annoying to me.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: No, but they also act like we're little kids and they're belittling us.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: It's like, no, a lot of Gen Z actually is in college or out of college and has a job.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: Like it's like a weird, it's a weird balance of both.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: They act like we should be doing more, but then right, they belittle us like we're just these children that don't really have a voice yet.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: Or we can't, we can't have any say in what the economy is because we haven't had that experience yet.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: It's weird.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: It's like both of the arguments I made.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: I I think that just speaks to it more because she is RA.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: She's well, Gen Z, I guess.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: She's on the younger side, actually, for someone who's in politics, you know, in an administration, and she doesn't see it, or she's pretending not to see it, or she's ignoring it.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: She might not.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: And that's a bad sign for the future.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: That's a bad sign for the MAGA movement for the right, you know?
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: And it's like Well, that ties back to us saying that's exactly what MAGA used to stand for, the people.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: What are the people saying right now?
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: What are your young voters saying?
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: And instead you get up there and say, Well, that's because you guys are just handed everything because you're lazy and entitled.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: That's why you're acting like this.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: Go to war with Iran so that we can have slightly higher gas prices.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: And then they just get slightly higher, and then more, and then more, and then more.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: And then it's like, okay, now it's like double the price of what it should have been and what it was before.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: Did we save?
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: Did we say for you guys to do that?
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: Was that our problem?
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Was that our decision?
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: It's like it's just, it's disconnected.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: And it what it feels like, I'm not saying the Trump administration hasn't done good things.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: They have, there's some.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: But what it feels like is they're doing nothing in like they're they're not thinking about us at all in any of the decisions they're making, in any of the outcomes that are happening.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: It's we're put last, you know?
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: And it's just more and more obvious to see, more and more shocking to see.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: So after this backlash, I mean, clearly she got backlash, right?
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: Because, like, what are you talking about?
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: She clarified that she was referring to the rise of socialism, socialism and communism in the US among younger voters.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: And Gen Z seems to be attracted to it.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: And this is why, because the economy is terrible and socialism and communism.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, they promise free, shiny things, and and this is basically a result of a liberal indoctrination in our education system, was what she said.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: And it's produced this lazy, unproductive generation, and we've been convinced that hard work won't really pay off.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: So, hell yeah, let's vote Mamdanian and get free transportation, you know?
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: And I mean, I think she is right.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: I there is a good portion of Gen Z that is lazy and entirely, like I understand there there are some, but I hate that they act like this is the majority.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: And also there's no other contributing factors to this.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: Like it's just liberal indoctrination.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: Yep, you know, they're education, education system screw them, and they're lazy.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: That's why, that's why they're acting like this.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: And maybe now, you know, Gen Z has graduated and we're working, we're paying rent, we're getting taxed.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: And maybe right now we look around and at our entry level, our salaries can't cover the basic things that we want to live, or even extracurricular things that we want to do.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: And that's everything.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: That's that's the price.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: The average price of the new car is over$50,000.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: It's like that's housing, that's rent, that's everything everything around you, and you notice it because you see it all the time, but everything around you is more expensive.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: And the problem is salaries aren't going up with it.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Just everything else is.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: So it's like, but at the same time, we're not saying, oh guys, I'm so sorry that this is how it is.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: I wish we could do more, this is what we can do.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: Like, you're right, it's not really your guys' fault.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: You just got into the workplace, you just got into you know these higher levels or these nine to five jobs.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: Like, instead, they're just like, ah, so lazy.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Like you guys haven't been at it, not working hard.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: You're too used to just getting everything on a silver spoon.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: And it's like, no, some of us are maybe.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Some of the people are spoiled, and she is right.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: Some people are turning into socialism and communism because of it.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: But it's like, if you'd actually look at what's happening here and maybe give us some credit, give us, you know, something, you we might, you know, be able to like see where you're coming from.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: I feel like they're not understanding at all what we're going through, though.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: 100%.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: And I don't know, I and this is coming just from personal experience too, but I I get sick of sitting here too and listening to the older generations and the generations before us sit here.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: And they, I don't know, they just brag about how they had houses at 28 and they could get a used car for like 3K and they could get by on that.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: A brand new car, a brand new car.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, honestly, a brand new car, to be honest.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: But I mean, they had pensions, I mean I mean, I'm talking more about boomers right now, but pensions, social security, a house costs like 60 grand, a burger and some fries were like three nickels.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: And they have the audacity to sit here and say, well, you just have to work a little harder.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: And I understand they their salaries were different, right?
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: But what I wanted to show you guys is that while yes, they probably earned less, right?
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: But the gap between what they earned and what they were affording, what they earned and then what they uh what things cost, it's like it is grown to beyond belief.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: And I'm not exaggerating either, by the way.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: Like a and the average house in 1980 cost around 60 to 80k.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: The average house did.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: Okay, cars today cost that a car.
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: And that's honestly not that very nice of a car.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: And the median income back in 1980 was about 21 grand.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: Two in three boomers paid less than 100k when buying their first home.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: The median income now is about 80, all right.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: But the average house is over 400,000.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: Home prices have increased 118% since 1965.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: I I really don't think it's just about being lazy.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: Clearly, there are some other issues going on.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: And income has only increased by 15%.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: So housing, home prices, uh, we're only 100% 100% off.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: That's we just need 100% more of our then we can do it.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: And this is all uh from a report by Clever Real Estate based on census data.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: So you can look it up yourself.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: Well, okay, you'll see those, like you'll see that like those statistics or those like uh honestly like reels or whatever.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: And it's like, oh, 80k is you know, 80k in the early 2000s is the same as 160k now.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: And it's like yeah, it's it kind of is.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: At least when you're looking at housing prices, it's like, yeah, it's not far off, you know?
- 20:55unknown: Right.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: And that so that means when a boomer turned 30 around what, like 19, 85-ish, whatever, a home cost them on average, let's say 80k on the higher end.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: When a millennial turns 30, I mean, that was what, probably around 2018, 2019, 2020, maybe a little a little even earlier.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, 2015 and 2015.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: They would have needed to spend over 300,000 on the home.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: That is an insane difference.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: And remember, income has only increased about 15%.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: And this report notes that if home prices grew at the same rate as inflation has, then the average home would be around 177,000.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: There we go.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: There we go.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: Crazy.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: And it's really not to just a dog on boomers.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: That just is a great comparison to how things exist.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: And they're the ones who always harp on us for it.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: And they are kind of the ones that always, yeah, get on us for it.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: No, and then here's a chart showing it visually.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: Um, for those listening, it's a chart, I mean, showing the median how.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Price and then the median income.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, and you can probably imagine it's just like the income is just stagnant.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: And the house price is just going up.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: Literally climbing, literally climbing.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: So I want to make one more point before we close out here.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: And it's like, we're not saying the boomers didn't have a hard time.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: We're not saying other generations might not have had a tough time.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: And we're not saying that Gen Z cannot be successful or Cranat cannot work hard and cannot make it through this.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: We can.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying for them to pretend it doesn't exist, for them to downplay what things are right now, what things are for us, what it would have been for them if they were in our shoes.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: I think it's it shows a larger gap.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: Um and it's but it's almost like it's almost universal on left and right.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: It's it's boomers versus Gen Z, you know?
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: It's people that gotta grow up in a great economy versus people that are grown up in this economy.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: It's a little bit different.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: And I'm not saying that it's all negative, it's definitely not.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: But it's something to remember, something to think about.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: And if anything, just for the point of to look at, hey, how did we get here?
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: What's what's so wrong now, and what do we need to do to fix it, you know?
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: Obviously, we don't need people in leadership in an administration that are downplaying our struggles and our problems.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: Uh downplaying it to that that we just are laziness.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: That it comes down to laziness and attractive socialism or whatever they say.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: Uh, which I'm no socialist at all, but it is it is a lot of a lot of Gen Z is like looking for that.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: They're looking towards that.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: And that's not a good start.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: That's not a good place to be in, you know?
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: So politicians, people, the economy, things seriously do need to change or get reevaluated because this is not sustainable.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: And it's definitely not for our generation and the generations after us to come up and go through this and work through this.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: It's just not sustainable long term.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: And we could seriously, we could go into so much.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: We could go into how expensive college is, how expensive, how expensive it uh a rent is, how expensive going out to eat is like everything is just astronomical right now.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: Gas, like, don't even get me started.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: But the reason that we choose to talk about uh homeownership is because owning a home, I feel like that's been a staple of the American dream for generations.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, everyone strives to own property, to have an asset that they can build on and they can pass down and that can build their future and build their family.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: That's a good point.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: A home has been that staple of the American dream for the boomers, for Gen X, for millennials, and now for us.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: And yeah, and before that, even.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: So because that's been a such a core goal for Americans, it's hard to watch that goal become that much more unattainable.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: And it's hard to work towards really anything else.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: When that core goal that holds everything else together, and I know it sounds silly, it's just a home, but it's it's an asset, it's your property, it's something that you own and you can work towards owning.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: So when that is unattainable, and I don't want to say unattainable, it can be, but I mean, you saw the chart.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: When it's that far off, it makes everything else look out of reach too.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
