- 0:29Speaker 1: Chef Jack Although we got started. We got started later
- 0:34Speaker 1: than anticipated. Chef Jack has finally brought in the burritos.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Round of applause for Chef Jack. He finally brought in
- 0:42Speaker 1: the burritos. Listen, he saw the comments. There are a
- 0:46Speaker 1: lot of comments on last week's episode. Just burritos. Assure
- 0:50Speaker 1: him he's holding one right now. We cannot wait to
- 0:52Speaker 1: dive in. We are on.
- 0:55Speaker 2: A bit of a timeline. So we're going to eat
- 0:57Speaker 2: these burritos while we do this podcast. Hell yeah. Hell yeah.
- 1:02Speaker 2: What's going on in the dad world with you as
- 1:05Speaker 2: far as a cold open? Or do we want the
- 1:09Speaker 2: burritos to be our cold open? Hey, 10,000 views on
- 1:13Speaker 2: last week's episode on YouTube. Come on.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Very fired up about that. Thank you guys for showing up.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Thank you guys for supporting. Please make sure you are
- 1:21Speaker 1: subscribed to this podcast. Make sure you're following on all
- 1:24Speaker 1: of our podcast channels, Spotify, Apple, wherever you get your podcasts,
- 1:28Speaker 1: we are on it.
- 1:28Speaker 2: We're just a couple of dads.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Couple of dads that talk about fatherhood, wins, losses, ups, downs,
- 1:34Speaker 1: everything in between. This is not an expert podcast. If
- 1:37Speaker 1: you are new, tune it in. Because I do assume
- 1:40Speaker 1: that all the PT Sixers out there, the PT Sickos,
- 1:43Speaker 1: are sharing this podcast with dad.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Friends of theirs. Oh, for sure. With buddies of theirs.
- 1:49Speaker 2: For sure. Like, hey, you got to check the boys out.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Will and Sherm, they're just an electric factory. I'm sure
- 1:56Speaker 2: they'd say it just like that. Shout out to Josh
- 1:59Speaker 2: and Garrett. Some sickos I ran into in the wild. Bro,
- 2:04Speaker 2: they're out there, man. Both ST sickos. And they wanted
- 2:09Speaker 2: to shout out for the dads. They said they don't
- 2:12Speaker 2: listen to every episode. But when they dive in, they
- 2:15Speaker 2: really enjoy it. So shout out Josh and Garrett. There's
- 2:18Speaker 2: nothing like a dap up in the wild, man. Oh,
- 2:21Speaker 2: for sure.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Like when we were in Baton Rouge and some would
- 2:23Speaker 1: just come over like, hey, big fan of what you
- 2:25Speaker 1: guys do. Second, I'm not talking bussing. I'm talking for
- 2:29Speaker 1: the dads. Chef bringing those burritos in anytime soon? As
- 2:33Speaker 1: a matter of fact, he's supposed to do this next episode,
- 2:35Speaker 1: the one that we are currently on.
- 2:38Speaker 2: So everybody's fired up. We got Chef back in the house.
- 2:42Speaker 2: The burrito is very good. Chef, they're gas. I did
- 2:46Speaker 2: take a bite. Good. Okay. Yeah, the pico de gallo
- 2:50Speaker 2: is hitting big time.
- 2:54Speaker 3: I'm glad you guys said that. I had one at home,
- 2:57Speaker 3: and the problem was last night I cooked the steak.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I did it beforehand because it was just so much.
- 3:03Speaker 3: I knew I was going to make a lot. This
- 3:04Speaker 3: morning when I heated them up, and the reason I'm late,
- 3:07Speaker 3: is when I was making the steak ones and I
- 3:08Speaker 3: bit into mine, it was still like even throwing in
- 3:11Speaker 3: the pan, it was still cold. And I hated it personally.
- 3:16Speaker 3: And I was like, I have to throw these in
- 3:17Speaker 3: the oven. I had them in the oven for like 15.
- 3:19Speaker 3: So that's why we're late. I want to throw the
- 3:21Speaker 3: hand up, but it saves the burritos.
- 3:26Speaker 2: They're great burritos. They're great burritos. Thank you. It's a
- 3:29Speaker 2: lot of stuff happening today. A lot of stuff happening today.
- 3:32Speaker 2: A lot of stuff happening. Yes, and they didn't need
- 3:35Speaker 2: a whole lot of salsa because of the pico. It's
- 3:38Speaker 2: a perfect amount. I didn't get no pico on them.
- 3:43Speaker 2: No salsa. Just pico.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Do we have salsa to dip? I didn't bring any
- 3:48Speaker 3: salsa to dip. I was going to grab hot sauce.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I feel like that's a necessity for breakfast breakfast. I know.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I wanted something to dip. Is it not, Sherm? No, no, no. Sherm,
- 3:56Speaker 2: is it not?
- 3:57Speaker 3: We.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I feel like with the, with the Pico don't need
- 4:01Speaker 2: the salsa. And I mean, it's got the cake. We're
- 4:04Speaker 2: hurting on time.
- 4:05Speaker 3: So I'm not going to go in the depth, but
- 4:07Speaker 3: the biggest thing I would change, I'd redo the eggs
- 4:10Speaker 3: and then I would get like another sauce. I would
- 4:12Speaker 3: do like a, you brought up an aioli and aioli
- 4:14Speaker 3: would be amazing. I don't taste aioli in here.
- 4:16Speaker 2: There is no aioli. That was like the one thing
- 4:19Speaker 2: I was like, I'm just an aioli. I didn't know that.
- 4:22Speaker 2: You mentioned it.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I said it right off the top. Is there anything
- 4:26Speaker 1: in particular you like in your burritos? I said, I'm
- 4:28Speaker 1: a big aioli guy.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Ah, shit. We'll learn from next run.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Chef.
- 4:33Speaker 2: It's a good burrito. Great burrito, dude. Great burrito. Yeah.
- 4:42Speaker 2: What do we want to jump into? Dad losses?
- 4:44Speaker 1: You went to, over the weekend, you went to on
- 4:46Speaker 1: a father-son trip with your dad to the Baylor-Auburn game.
- 4:49Speaker 2: We'll dive into that.
- 4:50Speaker 1: If I talk just a massive... Over there. Dude, I
- 4:53Speaker 1: want to give a crack of cold one right off
- 4:54Speaker 1: the jump. Right off the jump. Brought to us by Olipop, always.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Yours truly.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Strawberry vanilla right here.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Matter of fact, I got.
- 5:04Speaker 2: A random text from Audrey over the weekend. She was shopping. Oh, Aji. Yeah, Aji.
- 5:10Speaker 1: She took a picture of the crisp apple just to
- 5:12Speaker 1: send it to me. Let me know she was thinking
- 5:13Speaker 1: about the boy. But my crack of cold one this
- 5:17Speaker 1: week is to my wife. She went to Maine over
- 5:22Speaker 1: the weekend with the kiddos.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 5:25Speaker 1: It was our first weekend. It was our first Friday
- 5:28Speaker 1: doing bussing and paint on campus on ESPN on Friday afternoons.
- 5:32Speaker 1: So it was kind of our first big weekend in
- 5:34Speaker 1: the college football season where we went to Clemson and LSU.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Flew out Friday morning, didn't get back until late Saturday night.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Charlesman wanted to go visit a friend out in Maine,
- 5:44Speaker 1: but was running through the options of, do I take
- 5:48Speaker 1: the kids with me or do I just... Do I
- 5:50Speaker 1: just harness up? Do I strap up? Take both kiddos
- 5:52Speaker 1: with me to go out and see Margo? I don't
- 5:54Speaker 1: know when else I would go out and see her.
- 5:57Speaker 1: And she decided to go out in Maine, travel with
- 5:59Speaker 1: both kiddos.
- 6:00Speaker 2: No nanny, Ryan Tamales. No nanny went with the Ryan Tamales.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Brave soul.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah, Charles was like, we were having the conversation. I
- 6:08Speaker 1: was like, you don't want someone else raising your kids,
- 6:10Speaker 1: do you?
- 6:11Speaker 2: She raw dogged the trip? Yeah, she raw dogged the trip.
- 6:13Speaker 2: She's like, no, no, no.
- 6:14Speaker 1: She's like, I listen to the pot too. Ain't nobody
- 6:15Speaker 1: fucking raising these kids. I'm going to go out there
- 6:18Speaker 1: solo dolo with the kiddos. But traveling out to Maine,
- 6:22Speaker 1: having a one-stop, had a little one-stop flight. But going
- 6:26Speaker 1: out in Maine for the entire weekend, flying back with
- 6:28Speaker 1: the kiddos. She just, Charo is a beast, dude. She
- 6:33Speaker 1: runs a business. She's an instructor for the business. Not
- 6:36Speaker 1: only does she work on the business, she works in
- 6:38Speaker 1: her business because she absolutely loves it. She is a
- 6:40Speaker 1: phenomenal mother. She is, she thinks about me constantly. She's
- 6:45Speaker 1: always thinking about me in every situation. And traveling out
- 6:49Speaker 1: with both kiddos, it was like I was texting back
- 6:52Speaker 1: and forth with my boy Nick Hallett because it was
- 6:54Speaker 1: his birthday over the weekend.
- 6:56Speaker 2: I was a day late on telling him happy birthday too.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I missed his birthday.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Happy birthday, Nick. Happy birthday, Nick. But I was texting
- 7:02Speaker 1: with Nick and telling him happy belated. And we're kind
- 7:10Speaker 1: of catching up because there's some stuff going on. And then-
- 7:14Speaker 1: I was going to tell him, oh, she traveled solo.
- 7:16Speaker 1: So I guess she's also a beast. He's like, dude,
- 7:19Speaker 1: she's such a beast. I would never tell her that, though.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I don't want her to have an inflated ego. And
- 7:24Speaker 1: I'm like, dog, she really is kind of going in
- 7:26Speaker 1: for all the reasons I just told you guys. And
- 7:29Speaker 1: I was like, you know, I don't know why she
- 7:31Speaker 1: wants to work so hard with her business, but she
- 7:32Speaker 1: just loves it.
- 7:34Speaker 2: And he Nick chimes and he goes, she even remembered
- 7:36Speaker 2: my birthday. Oh yeah. Hit me with that one.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And she was like, I was honestly, I was going
- 7:45Speaker 1: to remind you, but you told me the other day
- 7:47Speaker 1: when I brought up Nick and Wyatt's birthday coming up.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Cause my brother Nick's birthday's on the fifth, Wyatt's birthday's
- 7:52Speaker 1: on the sixth. And, but you told me you had
- 7:55Speaker 1: them locked in the calendar and was ready to go.
- 7:58Speaker 1: So she was like, that's why I didn't like remind
- 7:59Speaker 1: you or say anything about it being Nick's birthday. Cause
- 8:01Speaker 1: you had already said that you're, you're ready to go
- 8:03Speaker 1: for Nick's birthday. So Nick out there listening right now,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I know your dumb ass is smiling and giggling, but
- 8:10Speaker 1: happy birthday to my boy, Nick. But my crack of
- 8:12Speaker 1: cold one goes to my wife because I was kind
- 8:14Speaker 1: of having that Nick and I were going back and
- 8:16Speaker 1: forth about how much of a beast she is.
- 8:17Speaker 2: And she just, she just is a beast. And so
- 8:20Speaker 2: I'm cracking a cold one to that. Crack a cold one.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I join you. As we said last week, wives are dogs. D-A-W-G-S.
- 8:32Speaker 2: My crack a cold one is Labor Day weekend in totality.
- 8:40Speaker 2: More specifically, getting to watch Papa Sherm operate. He was
- 8:46Speaker 2: putting up Hall of Fame dad numbers like I had
- 8:49Speaker 2: never seen before. I would love to go through his
- 8:53Speaker 2: stat line if we could. Please. So this is Sherman
- 8:58Speaker 2: Young Sr. He's a father of two. And this was
- 9:03Speaker 2: how he went about a road trip from Nashville, Tennessee
- 9:07Speaker 2: to Atlanta, Georgia to go watch a football game. All
- 9:10Speaker 2: road trip snacks were purchased night before. That was night before.
- 9:16Speaker 2: That's a heady play. A heady play. Made sure to
- 9:19Speaker 2: ask me, hey, do you have your sunflower seeds? Do
- 9:21Speaker 2: you have your beef jerky? He knows what I like
- 9:24Speaker 2: on the road. So he was already picking my brain,
- 9:28Speaker 2: making sure that I had everything we needed. As we
- 9:31Speaker 2: were walking out of the house, he hit a phone
- 9:34Speaker 2: wallet keys, had me hit a phone wallet keys, but
- 9:39Speaker 2: then asked me, dop kit charger. I said, got dop
- 9:43Speaker 2: kit charger too, dad. Thank you. Thank you. I'm starting
- 9:46Speaker 2: to just let him, I want Papa Sherm to operate.
- 9:49Speaker 2: That stuff doesn't annoy me anymore. I love it. I
- 9:52Speaker 2: love it. I lean into it. That's who he is.
- 9:55Speaker 2: That's who he is. And I'm going to love my
- 9:56Speaker 2: old man for who he is. Yes.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Gasta.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Up that morning?
- 10:01Speaker 1: No.
- 10:01Speaker 2: We gassed up the night before. We got a full
- 10:03Speaker 2: tank as we depart. Uh, breakfast was planned out a week, uh,
- 10:09Speaker 2: a week before. Uh, so we have the breakfast plan
- 10:12Speaker 2: fully planned out. Departure time was debated for a good
- 10:18Speaker 2: hour to two hours while we were doing some grocery
- 10:21Speaker 2: shopping for, and granted he was only here for two days,
- 10:25Speaker 2: but we, we did some grocery shopping the day before and, uh,
- 10:29Speaker 2: we debated our departure time. When should we get to
- 10:33Speaker 2: the stadium? It was a little tricky because we have
- 10:36Speaker 2: the central time to Eastern time zone change. What do
- 10:40Speaker 2: we do? Papa Sherm is using Grok a lot now.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Grok is his best friend. Oh, he operates with Grok.
- 10:46Speaker 2: He operates with Grok. Does he just like talk with Grok,
- 10:48Speaker 2: like say what's up and stuff?
- 10:49Speaker 3: Truly.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Or is he just like asking questions? All the time
- 10:52Speaker 2: asking questions. All the time. And so we asked Grok,
- 10:56Speaker 2: we said, Grok, if we leave Nashville at 7 a.m.,
- 11:00Speaker 2: what is that going to put us in Atlanta? Make
- 11:02Speaker 2: sure you give us Eastern time. Grok broke it down beautifully.
- 11:07Speaker 2: So we knew exactly when we would be arriving in Atlanta, Georgia.
- 11:13Speaker 2: He got his two egg breakfast. He got his coffee
- 11:17Speaker 2: that morning. He then proceeded to call the hotel and
- 11:21Speaker 2: asked him for the exact street names that he would
- 11:23Speaker 2: need to come in on off the interstate when he's
- 11:26Speaker 2: getting close to the hotel. He needed to know not
- 11:30Speaker 2: only the exit number, but those street names as well.
- 11:34Speaker 2: And Chef is very understandably making this face right now.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I was told, Chef, that he's a landman. This is
- 11:43Speaker 2: the exact quote. I'm a landman and I don't need
- 11:46Speaker 2: an app for maps.
- 11:47Speaker 3: If he had it his way, he would get on
- 11:49Speaker 3: MapQuest and print out the directions like the old days.
- 11:53Speaker 2: And remember those old days man oh yeah and make
- 11:56Speaker 2: sure oh buddy if you print in color you're done
- 12:00Speaker 2: you just lost printing privileges for a year you know
- 12:05Speaker 2: you print that in black and white sherman what are
- 12:07Speaker 2: you doing uh you can't waste any sure what are
- 12:12Speaker 2: you doing um He also asked the hotel lady just
- 12:19Speaker 2: like a fistful of questions. It was honestly incredible. Like
- 12:23Speaker 2: a first thing in the morning type phone call to
- 12:25Speaker 2: this lady working the lobby. My son and I are
- 12:28Speaker 2: coming into the game. This is Sherman Sr. My son
- 12:31Speaker 2: is Sherman Jr. Giving her the whole rundown. Yeah. He
- 12:37Speaker 2: had some, he had some great jokes, uh, when we
- 12:40Speaker 2: came into the lobby and I'm now blanking on them,
- 12:44Speaker 2: but he had a, a one-liner I'll try and remember
- 12:47Speaker 2: to the guy working the front desk. Um, we did
- 12:51Speaker 2: stop one time on the way to Georgia. You could technically, uh,
- 12:57Speaker 2: tag it as a P stop, but more importantly, windshield
- 13:00Speaker 2: had too many bugs. Got to clean them off. Windshield
- 13:04Speaker 2: had too many bugs. Did we need gas? No, we
- 13:07Speaker 2: gassed up the night before. So we didn't need to
- 13:10Speaker 2: fill up on gas. We just needed to clean that windshield.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Had a little too many bugs on it. But it's
- 13:14Speaker 2: always good to get a little gas station stop in. Absolutely.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I look forward to those. Absolutely. As do I. My
- 13:22Speaker 2: dad does not. At all. So that stop for the
- 13:26Speaker 2: windshield cleaning, that needed to happen. Yeah. If we're stopping
- 13:32Speaker 2: on a road trip on his Accord, that needed to happen.
- 13:35Speaker 2: And I was there every step of the way. He
- 13:37Speaker 2: got the windshield spotless. He had earplugs for both hotel
- 13:45Speaker 2: and the game. They don't make hotel walls like they
- 13:48Speaker 2: used to, guys. They're paper thin, as Papa Sherm will
- 13:51Speaker 2: tell you. So you got to have your earplugs for
- 13:54Speaker 2: the hotel. You also got to have your earplugs for
- 13:58Speaker 2: the football game because they're more interested in playing loud
- 14:01Speaker 2: music than they are actually giving you commentary over the loudspeakers.
- 14:10Speaker 2: And then last but not least, the glasses and prescription
- 14:12Speaker 2: sunglasses combo.
- 14:14Speaker 5: That.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I don't think there's too many things better than a
- 14:19Speaker 2: glasses and sunglasses prescribed sunglasses combo. And the switching on
- 14:25Speaker 2: the shirt was incredible.
- 14:29Speaker 6: I would add his entire attire to that because you
- 14:33Speaker 6: sent a picture of a belt that I would love
- 14:35Speaker 6: for you to touch on.
- 14:36Speaker 2: The Texas flag golf belt. Papa Sherm's just, he's got
- 14:42Speaker 2: a myriad, fancy word, a myriad of golf belts. And
- 14:47Speaker 2: all of them with beautiful designs on them. He wanted
- 14:50Speaker 2: to wear his Texas flag golf belt to make sure that, uh,
- 14:54Speaker 2: the people in Atlanta, Georgia knew that Baylor was a
- 14:58Speaker 2: Texas team and that Texas was coming to bring it. Yeah.
- 15:02Speaker 2: That wasn't just a fair. That wasn't just a Baylor game.
- 15:05Speaker 2: That's like, we're representing the state of Texas abroad and
- 15:09Speaker 2: we need to do so accordingly. They need to know
- 15:12Speaker 2: that we're coming. Correct. Um, His outfit the next day, Deke,
- 15:17Speaker 2: I wish I had snagged a picture of that. He
- 15:19Speaker 2: came out of his hotel room, looked like he was
- 15:22Speaker 2: ready to step on the tee box right then and there.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I mean, just full on golf outfit. He looked impeccable
- 15:30Speaker 2: and insisted on driving the whole way home, insisted on
- 15:33Speaker 2: driving the whole way there. I very happily let him
- 15:37Speaker 2: do it. All right, PT Sickos. Got to give a

- 17:52Speaker 2: on any single cans on any flavor at any retailer.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Just go to drinkolipop.com forward slash BWTB. Olipop is available
- 18:05Speaker 2: in the soda aisle and with the chilled beverages at
- 18:08Speaker 2: thousands of retailers nationwide, including Target and Walmart. Let's get
- 18:14Speaker 2: back to this episode. Massive, massive kudos to Papa Sherm
- 18:19Speaker 2: for not only filling in for Jilly Bean on that trip,
- 18:23Speaker 2: but just letting us know, letting us dads know, this
- 18:27Speaker 2: is how it's done. Did you guys have a few together?
- 18:31Speaker 2: He does not drink. Oh, he does not drink. He
- 18:32Speaker 2: does not drink. I had a few, though. So you
- 18:35Speaker 2: had yours and you had his. And I had his.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I actually did at the hotel. We got drink tokens.
- 18:42Speaker 2: And I just instantly put my hand out because I'm like,
- 18:44Speaker 2: Papa Sherm, don't drink. Let me get my hands on that.
- 18:48Speaker 2: That's easy money, baby. Especially after failing that two-point conversion.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:54Speaker 2: It was rough. It was rough. You guys were in it, though.
- 18:57Speaker 2: We've had our conversations about it. Yeah, we've talked about it.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I truly, like, I was very much, as we say
- 19:05Speaker 2: in our podcast worlds, a sad boy that night, but
- 19:09Speaker 2: was able to wake up the next morning and realize, like, hey,
- 19:14Speaker 2: we're good. We're good. We're not world beaters, but... Defense
- 19:20Speaker 2: is way better from what it was last year. You
- 19:22Speaker 2: guys will compete in the Big 12. Yeah, we'll compete.
- 19:25Speaker 2: You'll compete, man.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Yes, sir.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Chef, you had something? No, I didn't.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I thought you were chiming in when we were talking
- 19:33Speaker 1: about the two-point conversion.
- 19:36Speaker 2: No, I mean, I called Sherm.
- 19:37Speaker 3: I sent Sherm a nice video message. I said, hey,
- 19:42Speaker 3: basically I told him, I said, I know words won't
- 19:45Speaker 3: console you. The fact that Sherm, for all the people,
- 19:49Speaker 3: he was texting in the bus and group chat, throwing
- 19:52Speaker 3: some good jokes out. You wouldn't hear from me for
- 19:56Speaker 3: five days if my team lost like that. I would
- 19:59Speaker 3: be genuinely laying in a curled up position in my
- 20:03Speaker 3: bed and I wouldn't talk, I wouldn't text. I'd probably
- 20:06Speaker 3: not even go D & D. I'd turn my entire
- 20:08Speaker 3: phone off. So kudos to Sherm for like, that's a
- 20:12Speaker 3: horrible loss to suffer as a fan. He kind of
- 20:14Speaker 3: took it on the chin. So a lot of, a
- 20:16Speaker 3: lot of kudos there. Father's son weekend.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Good father, son weekend. Humors kind of, uh, I, I
- 20:23Speaker 2: go the humor route when I'm not feeling happy. That's
- 20:27Speaker 2: how I self soothe. And so in a party, you
- 20:29Speaker 2: could have.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Went into that game thinking you weren't even going to
- 20:31Speaker 1: be in that game like that.
- 20:33Speaker 2: A hundred percent. There, there was a large part of
- 20:36Speaker 2: me that like I was happy. It wasn't a, three
- 20:38Speaker 2: touchdown affair. Yeah. Like the fact that we were there
- 20:42Speaker 2: with less than 10 seconds on the clock, I'll take that.
- 20:46Speaker 2: And won some money because of our good friend, Josh
- 20:49Speaker 2: Bate won the seven and a half.
- 20:52Speaker 1: So I did poorly, poorly in the locker room that
- 20:55Speaker 1: drops on matter of fact, that's going to drop tonight.
- 20:58Speaker 1: As you guys listen to it for the dads, we
- 20:59Speaker 1: do a sports sports betting show called the locker room.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I think I'm down 60%. It's down 60% over the weekend. Oh, no. Oh, no.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I can't have my wife here, though. I cannot have
- 21:10Speaker 2: my wife here, though. Yeah. Do we want to get
- 21:17Speaker 2: into some follow-ups? Yes.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Yeah, let's get into some follow-ups. I have one here
- 21:21Speaker 1: from Mitch Lowndes on Spotify. Again, drop comments for an
- 21:28Speaker 1: opportunity to be featured on the show. Boys, absolutely love
- 21:32Speaker 1: the pod, but what happened to the Dan Gable quotes?
- 21:37Speaker 1: Mitch ain't lying the Matt don't lie as Dan Gable
- 21:41Speaker 1: would say the Matt don't lie as Dan Gable would
- 21:44Speaker 1: say Matt does not lie I appreciate that though because
- 21:48Speaker 1: that's like that's accountability we're going to need that at
- 21:51Speaker 1: times from our comment section I.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Was about to say from reading through our comments this
- 21:57Speaker 2: morning we have a good amount of accountability Will in
- 22:02Speaker 2: the comments this week um Here's our first one. Do
- 22:08Speaker 2: you remember our friend Ryan Tamales? Ryan Tamales? Of course
- 22:12Speaker 2: I remember Ryan Tamales. He referenced him earlier in this episode.
- 22:15Speaker 2: He said, people ain't going to be raising my kids.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Ryan Tamales followed up. He actually DM'd the For the
- 22:25Speaker 2: Dads page. Is that where this is from, Deke?
- 22:28Speaker 6: I looked in the request section and found a nice
- 22:31Speaker 6: little DM from a guy who turned out to be
- 22:35Speaker 6: Ryan Tamales.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Okay. We've been in communication with the Tamale. So is
- 22:40Speaker 2: Ryan a potential PT sicko? We're about to find out.
- 22:43Speaker 6: I think that the energy has been anti-will across socials
- 22:47Speaker 6: in the terms of 5149, anti-will 51. Tamale, he's turning
- 22:54Speaker 6: some people into the anti-nanny crowd.
- 22:56Speaker 2: That's okay. Let's hear what Tamale has to say. Tamale says,
- 23:01Speaker 2: Sherm says, to get my ass up there, but I'd
- 23:04Speaker 2: probably just hurt y'all's feelings again. For real, for real, though.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Of course, the one hater comment I post gets mentioned.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Love the show, boys. I genuinely think I enjoy the
- 23:14Speaker 2: show more when I don't agree with what you're saying.
- 23:18Speaker 2: It's nice to hear other options. We replied, holy shit.
- 23:25Speaker 2: It's Ryan Tamale. LOL, man. Although they become bits, we
- 23:30Speaker 2: love these comments. There's a trillion ways to parent, and low-key,
- 23:34Speaker 2: there's been a ton of comments in support of the
- 23:37Speaker 2: no-nanny stance. Appreciate you being a good sport. You rock.
- 23:42Speaker 2: He replied. Do you like that reply, Will, first off? Yeah.
- 23:45Speaker 6: I don't want you to feel like you're getting attacked
- 23:47Speaker 6: by your own team. Sherman and I communicated on that,
- 23:49Speaker 6: so I just want to make sure you know.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm good with that. Yeah, yeah. It's like, hey, dude,
- 23:54Speaker 2: people are going to put... People are going to say
- 23:56Speaker 2: crazy shit. Like, you know. Yes, sir. The Ryan Tamales.
- 24:01Speaker 2: This is his reply. I'm a blue collar boy. If
- 24:05Speaker 2: you don't get insulted at least twice before lunch, you're
- 24:07Speaker 2: fucking up. Plus, I can't give shit and not take it. Man,
- 24:12Speaker 2: come on. To be honest, though, my wife and I
- 24:15Speaker 2: were watching together, dying, laughing when we heard my name,
- 24:19Speaker 2: but then felt bad because Willie boy looked pressed.
- 24:22Speaker 3: L.O.L.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Thanks for hollering back at me. That's dope of you guys.
- 24:26Speaker 2: It would also be dope if you could shout my
- 24:29Speaker 2: two boys out. Uriah, who's seven, and Tyson Dean. Tyson Dean,
- 24:36Speaker 2: who is one. LOL and everything Will says about Scotty
- 24:41Speaker 2: reminds me of Tyson. He's a fucking nutcase, literally. Just today,
- 24:46Speaker 2: he was watching Bear in the Big Blue House while
- 24:49Speaker 2: sitting on his little kid lazy boy thing and decided
- 24:54Speaker 2: he was going to front flip off the chair onto
- 24:57Speaker 2: his head, landed straight on his back, just jumped up,
- 25:01Speaker 2: made a little ah sound, and kept playing with his toys. LOL.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Mom called the injury timeout, which pissed him off. Funniest
- 25:08Speaker 2: part was when Willie C says, I think we have
- 25:12Speaker 2: his address. And we don't have your address, Ryan. We
- 25:17Speaker 2: do not, sir.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Number one, I can mess with Tyson. I used to
- 25:19Speaker 1: rock Baron the Big Blue House back in the day.
- 25:22Speaker 2: It's a good show, dude. I used to rock Baron
- 25:23Speaker 2: the Big Blue House. The little otters that would come
- 25:25Speaker 2: out of the drains and stuff. The Shadow Lady scared
- 25:29Speaker 2: the fuck out of me. Do you remember the Shadow Lady?
- 25:32Speaker 2: Do you know what I'm talking about? Where they would cast-
- 25:35Speaker 2: The stories onto the walls. Okay. And that huge like
- 25:39Speaker 2: sideways shadow face would come on and be like, hello bear.
- 25:43Speaker 2: I have a story for you. And like all the
- 25:46Speaker 2: stories would be shadows that I'm taught. I was a little,
- 25:50Speaker 2: little dude scared the shit out of me, but shout
- 25:54Speaker 2: out bear in the big blue house. Shout out bear
- 25:56Speaker 2: in the big blue house.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Clearly the convo goes much differently. If we, if we
- 26:02Speaker 1: know that Ryan Tamales is a watcher, Or a viewer
- 26:06Speaker 1: of the show. It sounds like him and his wife are.
- 26:09Speaker 1: When you have like just a random comment. And there's
- 26:12Speaker 1: nothing to go off of. And it's anti something. And
- 26:17Speaker 1: in the pressure of the moment. Because when he's like
- 26:19Speaker 1: Willie C look press. It's like in my brain I'm
- 26:22Speaker 1: trying to figure out. Which direction do I want to
- 26:24Speaker 1: go here. Because first immediate instinct is. If I'm with
- 26:28Speaker 1: a Ryan Tomales. Or I know exactly who it is.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Or I know he is a hater. Or if he's
- 26:33Speaker 1: a fan. Whatever it is. Cause it sounds like he
- 26:36Speaker 1: understands like all the ball busting, everything else. Like you
- 26:39Speaker 1: haven't been tripped twice since before lunch.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Like you ain't doing nothing right. Which I'm with.
- 26:44Speaker 1: But first instinct is like, you want to do a,
- 26:47Speaker 1: like a, like a walk in the pantry, right?
- 26:50Speaker 2: Like busting with the boys type vibe.
- 26:53Speaker 1: When you're on a, when we're doing a dad show,
- 26:56Speaker 1: there's so many elements that go on in my head
- 26:58Speaker 1: because sometimes there's a little bit of a, um, what's
- 27:04Speaker 1: the word kind of like um i don't know if
- 27:07Speaker 1: imposter syndrome is the right word but like you know
- 27:10Speaker 1: you're doing like a like a a dad pod and
- 27:13Speaker 1: trying to break down whether it's our parenting whether it's
- 27:17Speaker 1: thing we've learned whatever it is you know there's so
- 27:19Speaker 1: many different ways to parent yes i feel i feel
- 27:23Speaker 1: you growing up in the vibe that it sounds like
- 27:26Speaker 1: ryan tamales is on or has been on, and he
- 27:29Speaker 1: has his preconceived notions, I had that same preconceived thought
- 27:35Speaker 1: about peoples with nannies. It was almost like my relationship,
- 27:38Speaker 1: as far as thinking about how a nanny operates, is
- 27:41Speaker 1: so much different now being a parent and having one
- 27:44Speaker 1: before I had one. Because we alluded to it last week,
- 27:47Speaker 1: but we were kind of not forced. We chose to
- 27:49Speaker 1: go in that direction because of something that very badly
- 27:53Speaker 1: that happened with the daycare that Rue was in. And
- 27:56Speaker 1: so we went down that road on having a nanny.
- 27:58Speaker 1: And then you learn, like, I ended up wrapping it
- 28:01Speaker 1: around my brain. Like once we were activating with the nanny,
- 28:05Speaker 1: when the nanny would come over and childcare would come
- 28:07Speaker 1: over to where I don't know how every parent feels
- 28:10Speaker 1: that are out there that could be listening to this.
- 28:13Speaker 1: And if I go, if I go pantry talk, if
- 28:15Speaker 1: I go, if I go contention with tamales or I'm
- 28:20Speaker 1: having fun, or I come off like an asshole, or
- 28:22Speaker 1: I start talking like, okay, Whether it's a buddy, make
- 28:25Speaker 1: more money or something like that. I'm that's like in
- 28:28Speaker 1: my brain as I'm trying to break that down. If
- 28:30Speaker 1: I'm a viewer that could be seeing it's like, oh, Dan,
- 28:33Speaker 1: Will seems kind of a douchebag right now talking about
- 28:36Speaker 1: how he has a nanny and all these other things.
- 28:38Speaker 1: And he's kind of going after this Ryan Tamale's kid
- 28:40Speaker 1: who says he's anti nanny. And I'm kind of that way, too,
- 28:43Speaker 1: because I don't really know about that world or I
- 28:44Speaker 1: don't really know about child care or maybe I'm not
- 28:46Speaker 1: even a parent yet. So to speak to him on
- 28:49Speaker 1: Will Felt Press, it's like, I'm sitting there like, how
- 28:53Speaker 1: should I respond to this? Because there is, I always
- 28:57Speaker 1: feel a little bit of an insecurity kind of talking
- 28:59Speaker 1: about that because I know like we're in a spot
- 29:01Speaker 1: where we've worked our ass off to be in the
- 29:03Speaker 1: spot to have options like that. Not a lot of
- 29:05Speaker 1: people have those options. Whether it's they don't have those
- 29:07Speaker 1: options now, they don't have those options yet. Maybe they
- 29:10Speaker 1: feel like they won't ever have those options. So I
- 29:12Speaker 1: don't want to come after somebody or there could be
- 29:14Speaker 1: viewers out there that feel like they might not ever
- 29:16Speaker 1: have that option. And then I come off like a
- 29:18Speaker 1: douchebag or an asshole because I'm trying to have fun
- 29:20Speaker 1: and bust balls back and forth. We could do the
- 29:22Speaker 1: pantry walk, but that lives more. That would live more
- 29:25Speaker 1: in like the social media realm versus sitting on a
- 29:27Speaker 1: dad podcast, talking about dad life. Having somebody come in
- 29:30Speaker 1: that I didn't know was somebody who views all the time.
- 29:33Speaker 2: This could have been like Phoenix.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Early in the year or like last year where I
- 29:37Speaker 1: don't know if this is a cat that just tuned
- 29:39Speaker 1: in for the first time said that and they're not
- 29:41Speaker 1: a supporter they're not anything else so do you give
- 29:43Speaker 1: that that much time a day do you try to
- 29:45Speaker 1: answer it as well as you can and articulate it
- 29:48Speaker 1: as well as you can on how it's beneficial um
- 29:52Speaker 1: So that's kind of where I was, Ryan Tamale, in
- 29:54Speaker 1: my brain when I'm thinking, how do I go about this?
- 29:57Speaker 1: Because parenting topics are all just fucking sensitive. They're all
- 30:01Speaker 1: sensitive all the time. I feel like we've done a
- 30:03Speaker 1: great job with our community. We've done a great job
- 30:06Speaker 1: on this show. But any conversation or pocket you're in
- 30:09Speaker 1: out in the wild, where you're around parents that you
- 30:11Speaker 1: might not jive with, you just, I don't know, you
- 30:14Speaker 1: feel a lot of sensitivity. Any clips I come across
- 30:16Speaker 1: that go viral that I love in parenting and content,
- 30:19Speaker 1: And then you might go in some comment sections and
- 30:21Speaker 1: just see people bitch about stuff. And I don't know,
- 30:24Speaker 1: it's all about coming off perfect as a parent. And
- 30:27Speaker 1: we know that that's just never the case. At all.
- 30:29Speaker 1: So when a button like a nanny or somebody having
- 30:32Speaker 1: a nanny, and I know that I am one that
- 30:33Speaker 1: has a nanny, there was almost that all of those
- 30:36Speaker 1: feelings were kind of taking place and happening as I'm like, okay,
- 30:39Speaker 1: how do I go about talking about this?
- 30:41Speaker 2: Like, is he just hating? Is he busting balls? Is he-
- 30:44Speaker 2: To highlight those two worlds that you very much live in,
- 30:49Speaker 2: I produce on that show, but I like, you are
- 30:53Speaker 2: a talent on bus. And you're also like a forward
- 30:56Speaker 2: face on an ESPN show that has a segment that
- 31:00Speaker 2: reads hater comments on it. You know, like you're in
- 31:04Speaker 2: that world. And to highlight the difference of those two.
- 31:07Speaker 2: And I like, I think about this every now and
- 31:10Speaker 2: then when I first started at a bus and a
- 31:15Speaker 2: guy DM me, And it was one of my very
- 31:17Speaker 2: first DMs about just anything busing. And he was like, bro,
- 31:21Speaker 2: you need to shut the fuck up on the bus.
- 31:24Speaker 2: You are annoying as fuck. It ruins the show. And
- 31:28Speaker 2: your laugh, annoying as fuck, dude. Like, put your mic
- 31:32Speaker 2: on mute. Long book. Book. It wasn't like four sentences.
- 31:38Speaker 2: And I read that message and I was like, I'm
- 31:42Speaker 2: not going to let that get to me. I'm going
- 31:44Speaker 2: to keep doing me. I was very new to all this.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:47Speaker 2: And it seemed like you guys wanted me talking and
- 31:50Speaker 2: you enjoyed me talking. So I really tried not to
- 31:53Speaker 2: second guess it. We started for the dads. And maybe
- 31:57Speaker 2: like 20 episodes in, I get a DM. And before
- 32:02Speaker 2: I even read his DM, I see it's the same
- 32:04Speaker 2: guy that sent me that book about not talking. He
- 32:08Speaker 2: was like, Sherm. Since listening to For the Dads, I've
- 32:12Speaker 2: gotten to know your heart a little bit and just
- 32:14Speaker 2: want to let you know, I think you're an incredible person.
- 32:16Speaker 2: I think you're awesome. I'm so sorry about the things
- 32:20Speaker 2: I said about you. Because he was saying some other
- 32:22Speaker 2: stuff that was like a bit out of pocket. That
- 32:26Speaker 2: comes from being in the busing world. You know what
- 32:29Speaker 2: I'm saying? And I'm really glad I didn't reply to
- 32:32Speaker 2: it because it made me look good of just like,
- 32:35Speaker 2: All that stuff he said. And then he just talked
- 32:37Speaker 2: about like, hey, I have a ton of respect for
- 32:39Speaker 2: you as like a fellow dad. And I think you're
- 32:42Speaker 2: doing a great job. I think you're killing it. Just
- 32:45Speaker 2: want to let you know, big fan of the podcast.
- 32:48Speaker 2: And it's funny of just how sensitive the topic is
- 32:54Speaker 2: of parenting to. That it can cause somebody to have
- 32:59Speaker 2: a complete 180 on me of like, I couldn't get
- 33:03Speaker 2: any less of this dude. Like, get him out of
- 33:06Speaker 2: here to, hey, you know what? Respect. Like, you're a dad.
- 33:09Speaker 2: And like, I get it. And we're in the trenches together.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Does that make sense? Yeah. Yeah.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Dude, it's a bizarre world at times. This one and
- 33:18Speaker 1: this platform that we have for the dads feels like
- 33:20Speaker 1: a newer platform. It's like a newer thing for me.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Obviously we've been doing it for a year, but my
- 33:26Speaker 1: comfort and everything else with busing now, versus here because
- 33:30Speaker 1: again it's like dude we have a dad podcast whereas
- 33:34Speaker 1: anybody who doesn't tune in and can kind of hear
- 33:36Speaker 1: about us or listen to us kind of have all
- 33:38Speaker 1: of our obnoxious jokes and bits that we enjoy with
- 33:41Speaker 1: our audience yes that they know all of the inside
- 33:44Speaker 1: game but if somebody on the outside who doesn't know
- 33:48Speaker 1: anything about it could come on what are these dudes
- 33:49Speaker 1: doing with a parenting podcast like parenting we've had comments
- 33:52Speaker 1: like that parenting is not that hard. Why do they
- 33:54Speaker 1: got to make it seem like rocket science or a
- 33:57Speaker 1: dad show? It's like, Oh, let me talk about how
- 33:59Speaker 1: good of a dad I am. Like I've heard those
- 34:01Speaker 1: comments before. And it's like, you got to eat them
- 34:04Speaker 1: because they don't know. They don't know.
- 34:07Speaker 2: They don't know.
- 34:07Speaker 1: They don't know what we do on the show. Cause
- 34:09Speaker 1: clearly they don't tap in and listen all the time.
- 34:12Speaker 1: it's also a part of us why we say hey
- 34:14Speaker 1: we are not experts this is not an expert show
- 34:17Speaker 1: whatsoever yeah this is just a couple dads talking ball
- 34:19Speaker 1: that want to build the community with other fellow dads
- 34:22Speaker 1: who write in all the time and we get to
- 34:24Speaker 1: know each other very we get to know each other
- 34:26Speaker 1: very well to the point to where we have evy
- 34:29Speaker 1: the brave uh everybody knows evy evy is um evy
- 34:33Speaker 1: is a gal or a child a daughter that got
- 34:37Speaker 1: a tumor taken out of her back and her dad
- 34:39Speaker 1: has been keeping us updated. And he had a, he
- 34:42Speaker 1: had another write-in and an update for us, but it's
- 34:45Speaker 1: like a level of a relationship like this that we
- 34:47Speaker 1: have with the audience that this is what we were
- 34:49Speaker 1: wanting to do. So it's kind of, it's hard to
- 34:52Speaker 1: compartmentalize all the time because we all, we're in a
- 34:54Speaker 1: world where we live on our phones now. So a
- 34:56Speaker 1: lot of shit can affect us. Everybody knows all the
- 34:58Speaker 1: science of dopamine and everything else to where we are
- 35:00Speaker 1: glued to our phones and as human beings a lot.
- 35:03Speaker 1: So we get a lot of our own, whether it's
- 35:05Speaker 1: our own value and whether we want to admit it
- 35:07Speaker 1: or not, it's like we place our value of what
- 35:09Speaker 1: could come, what we're reading and seeing on that phone
- 35:12Speaker 1: about ourselves for ourselves. And it's like a constant battle.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Like for me as an adult with a media brand
- 35:18Speaker 1: to like know where, Hey, well, this is where I
- 35:21Speaker 1: have to draw the line in my brain right now.
- 35:22Speaker 1: This is where you can't allow yourself to go down.
- 35:25Speaker 1: You can't allow yourself to go down this road because
- 35:28Speaker 1: do too much of it.
- 35:29Speaker 2: It just consumes you. And then it affects you. Yeah.
- 35:33Speaker 1: But we have an update from Evie the Brave's dad,
- 35:35Speaker 1: from Evie's dad, Dylan Payne. Evie the Brave times for
- 35:39Speaker 1: the dads. Help take cancer to the curb.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Good morning, gang.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Being that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Evie the
- 35:46Speaker 1: Brave has requested to trade in all of her free
- 35:49Speaker 1: shout-outs and all of her free Olipop, run the tape,
- 35:53Speaker 1: and in return... She would ask to use your platform
- 35:56Speaker 1: to raise awareness as well as donations to help all
- 35:59Speaker 1: the tiny warriors and future sickos like herself, as well
- 36:02Speaker 1: as their families as they face the hardest time of
- 36:05Speaker 1: their lives. If this is something you'd be interested in,
- 36:08Speaker 1: I plan to create a virtual fundraiser through ALSF. That's
- 36:12Speaker 1: Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. And we'll provide a link that
- 36:17Speaker 1: will take you straight to the donation page for our
- 36:21Speaker 1: specific community.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Sorry, I will get through this.
- 36:25Speaker 1: We are open to any and all ideas, and if
- 36:26Speaker 1: you decide to jump on board, you can do as
- 36:28Speaker 1: little or as much as you deem appropriate. The people
- 36:32Speaker 1: that listen to this podcast genuinely care about the community,
- 36:34Speaker 1: and nothing showed me that more than how much love
- 36:38Speaker 1: and positivity my family personally has received after you picked
- 36:43Speaker 1: up Everly's story. Dad's against cancer. Gong rips for Evy.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Cancer to the curb. Let's do something that could help
- 36:51Speaker 1: future PT6 and MT6ers. What an awesome opportunity.
- 36:59Speaker 2: There's an awesome opportunity that we get to be associated
- 37:02Speaker 2: with that. Dude, truly. And everything that we were just
- 37:05Speaker 2: talking about before reading that. Yeah, kind of embodied all
- 37:09Speaker 2: in one message of everything from being supportive of like
- 37:14Speaker 2: childhood cancer awareness.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Us.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Accidentally talking about bong rips instead of gong rips inside of,
- 37:22Speaker 2: you know, the initial, like, video of her. Hit the bong!
- 37:27Speaker 2: Hit the bong. Hit the dong. Hit the dong. And
- 37:32Speaker 2: her dad, like, playing into that in the, you know,
- 37:37Speaker 2: with the gong rips comment, that embodied a lot of
- 37:43Speaker 2: what this podcast is, which is really cool. And it
- 37:45Speaker 2: sounds like we're going to be having... the link in
- 37:49Speaker 2: our description.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:50Speaker 6: For everyone listening, uh, we reached back out to Dylan said,
- 37:53Speaker 6: send us the link. I said the best thing we can,
- 37:55Speaker 6: or the easiest thing we can do. We'll share that out.
- 37:57Speaker 6: We'll put it on our socials and have something. And
- 37:59Speaker 6: then we are actively working with, uh, our team at
- 38:02Speaker 6: Boston here and for the dads in Dylan to try
- 38:03Speaker 6: to find something else we can do, but we will
- 38:05Speaker 6: share that link out for everyone.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Uh, so support if you can. I love that. Massive.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Gotta do something. Absolutely massive. I have a followup here too,
- 38:15Speaker 2: from a gentleman named Nick Hallett. My thoughts on the
- 38:20Speaker 2: nanny topic.
- 38:22Speaker 1: One, in Ryan Tamale's defense, podcasting is not a real job,
- 38:27Speaker 1: so Will should be able to accommodate watching them at
- 38:29Speaker 1: all times. B. Since podcasting is not a real job,
- 38:42Speaker 1: several members of the Bussin team have children, and this
- 38:45Speaker 1: is a fatherhood podcast. Why isn't the child care included
- 38:49Speaker 1: in the compensation or benefits of all employees? There should
- 38:52Speaker 1: be on-site child care at the studio called Daddy Daycare.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Thank you for writing in, Nick. Thank you, Nick Allen.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Happy belated birthday. That's it. That right there. That's why
- 39:08Speaker 2: he was my best man. It's a great ideas, Nick.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Some great ideas there. We appreciate you writing in. The
- 39:19Speaker 2: best was him texting me when he put that comment in, said, yo,
- 39:23Speaker 2: go check what I put on Spotify.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Hey i don't know if you got time right now
- 39:30Speaker 1: go check out my spotify comment.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I felt like i was in middle school again when
- 39:34Speaker 2: like your boy put some comment underneath the friends thing
- 39:37Speaker 2: and you're texting you're like dude i can't believe you
- 39:39Speaker 2: put that um kaylee allen 21 writes in um biting
- 39:45Speaker 2: follow-up when my son was in daycare and he got bit,
- 39:50Speaker 2: the first thing my husband would ask is, what diseases
- 39:53Speaker 2: does the kid have? Whether it broke skin or not,
- 39:56Speaker 2: he would literally call the director and ask if we
- 39:59Speaker 2: should be worried. Meanwhile, I'm over there like, bud, that sucks.
- 40:02Speaker 2: I'm sorry that happened. And my husband goes straight on
- 40:05Speaker 2: a war path. LOL. LOL. LOL from Kaylee Allen 21.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Chase B also writes in, I'm here to stand on
- 40:16Speaker 2: business for Will.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Oh, there we go. This might stand on business for me.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Let's wait. Let's wait. Who knows where this is going
- 40:24Speaker 2: to go? I can't remember how the rest of this goes,
- 40:28Speaker 2: but I think that's a smart decision. Let's see though.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Chase continues to say, I work hard in the construction
- 40:35Speaker 2: world and I also own my own business. I do
- 40:39Speaker 2: this because my wife and I cannot afford a nanny.
- 40:42Speaker 2: I can tell that if tomorrow, I can tell you
- 40:45Speaker 2: that if tomorrow I was in Willy One Shelf's spot,
- 40:48Speaker 2: I would have a nanny and rip sweet Euro vacations.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Don't hate the game. Work harder. Hashtag Papa Team Hustle. Okay.
- 40:56Speaker 2: So he's Team Will. Shout out Chase, man. Thank you, bro.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Last one for me is Spencer. Spencer H52 says, Gotta
- 41:07Speaker 2: admit that Will has lost his fastball. Damn it. It's good.
- 41:14Speaker 2: When's the last time he took someone to the pantry
- 41:17Speaker 2: or on a walk? It's full circle. It's full circle.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Like a circle. And he's not wrong. He said soft
- 41:23Speaker 2: hands for sure. God. He's not wrong because there are
- 41:27Speaker 2: times where.
- 41:27Speaker 1: I'm like, man, I haven't really done one of them
- 41:29Speaker 1: videos in a long time. The last one might have
- 41:31Speaker 1: been Ian Rapoport, which was last year.
- 41:36Speaker 2: When he kind of cucked us on George Kittle, like
- 41:39Speaker 2: breaking these George Kittle signs and extension. I forgot about
- 41:42Speaker 2: that too.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Because I lead off with the video, like I haven't
- 41:44Speaker 1: done this in a while. So I've probably only done
- 41:46Speaker 1: one in the last couple of years. And so my
- 41:47Speaker 1: man is right. I've kind of fell out of my game.
- 41:51Speaker 2: I already know what the comments are going to say
- 41:56Speaker 2: with what I'm about to say. Oh, Sherman, he's always, oh,
- 42:00Speaker 2: Will is not that bad. It's going to be okay.
- 42:02Speaker 2: But this is what I actually think. Okay. We'll be
- 42:06Speaker 2: hard on Will if you want to be soft on him. Yes.
- 42:08Speaker 2: There we go. That's good. The scariest coaches growing up
- 42:12Speaker 2: were the ones that didn't yell the most for me.
- 42:16Speaker 2: They were the ones that when you got yelled at
- 42:18Speaker 2: by that coach, you knew you fucked up. Those were
- 42:22Speaker 2: the scariest coaches for me. So the fact that the
- 42:26Speaker 2: time between walks has increased, it almost... emphasizes the punch
- 42:32Speaker 2: of the walk or going to the pantry. It makes
- 42:35Speaker 2: it that much more of this is a thing.
- 42:39Speaker 1: So you're saying there's a lot of expectation on the
- 42:41Speaker 1: next one that takes place.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Yeah, so I guess I'm not going completely soft on you.
- 42:45Speaker 2: There's a little bit of a challenge there as well.
- 42:48Speaker 2: But it puts some gravity and weight to it.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:52Speaker 6: I think when people expect a certain thing from you
- 42:58Speaker 6: and they haven't seen it in like, two or three
- 43:02Speaker 6: weeks or so, for example, here, and then it comes,
- 43:06Speaker 6: we're all really excited, like Chef's burritos. We hadn't seen them,
- 43:10Speaker 6: and we weren't sure if Chef still had his fastball,
- 43:12Speaker 6: and he came through with the burritos. And in that way,
- 43:15Speaker 6: I do believe you still have a fastball, but I
- 43:16Speaker 6: will also say, I think you need to work on
- 43:20Speaker 6: your finesse game, maybe, because you finesse shit on people now.
- 43:23Speaker 6: It's not necessarily a fastball. You're getting old. People lose
- 43:26Speaker 6: their fastball. Aaron Rodgers can't just spin it down the middle.
- 43:28Speaker 6: He's got to finesse now. You have been doing a
- 43:30Speaker 6: little finesse shit talking, and I do want to give
- 43:32Speaker 6: credit to that, too. I didn't really go too hard
- 43:34Speaker 6: on you, but you know what I mean.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Okay. Shout out Chess Burrito. Shout out Chess Burrito. I
- 43:40Speaker 2: do have one here from Hunter Greco. Had sex before marriage.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Now we have a two-year-old. Shoot me. if that's not
- 43:51Speaker 2: a typo he did not mean to say sue me
- 43:54Speaker 2: he did type out shoot.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Me i believe i wish chef cared about these burritos
- 43:58Speaker 1: the same way he cares about his turkey.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Oh buddy i would turkey go ahead chef go ahead
- 44:06Speaker 2: no it's fine and at the end of the day
- 44:09Speaker 2: maybe i care about the turkey more that's why i
- 44:10Speaker 2: made 20 for the whole crew came in here steak
- 44:14Speaker 2: bacon sausage three different combos of protein went all out,
- 44:18Speaker 2: started prepping last night, cooked for three hours last night,
- 44:21Speaker 2: came in this morning, was late, started the production late
- 44:25Speaker 2: because they weren't warm enough.
- 44:26Speaker 3: Had to throw them in the oven because we can't
- 44:29Speaker 3: accept anything better than what's tip top.
- 44:31Speaker 2: But yeah, you know, fuck me. But yeah. Yeah. You
- 44:34Speaker 2: would have been on time.
- 44:36Speaker 3: I would have been on time if I didn't throw
- 44:37Speaker 3: them back in the oven.
- 44:38Speaker 2: I didn't realize how pressed we were. And if you
- 44:40Speaker 2: just thought about the team that you're doing it for.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Yeah. You talked to a lot of your buddies. Coworkers.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Yeah. I wanted everyone to enjoy. And I've gotten a
- 44:53Speaker 3: couple texts from the guys on the other side. Seems
- 44:56Speaker 3: like everyone enjoyed it.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Good. Because the steak is phenomenal. They are good burritos.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Thank you. I saw you ate both of them. That
- 45:02Speaker 2: made me happy. I was like, that's usually a good sign.
- 45:05Speaker 1: The whole time I'm like, if good greatness is the aioli. Yeah.
- 45:11Speaker 3: And even you just get a community salsa or something.
- 45:14Speaker 3: There is so many things I would want to do.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Differently.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Like next time I try these out, I was like,
- 45:20Speaker 3: when I was driving here and you called me, you're like,
- 45:22Speaker 3: you got.
- 45:22Speaker 2: To get a move on.
- 45:23Speaker 3: I'm like, I hope he fucking likes these or else
- 45:25Speaker 3: it's going to be bad. But I thought definitely AOLI.
- 45:28Speaker 3: There's a couple of things.
- 45:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Um, I have some dad wins and losses. You want
- 45:35Speaker 2: to do dad wins and losses really quick.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Yes. Hey, by the way, big dad went over the
- 45:39Speaker 1: weekend again, wifey and the family was out. So when
- 45:42Speaker 1: I landed on late Saturday night, coming home to an
- 45:45Speaker 1: empty house, Sitting down watching UCLA and Cal, eating two
- 45:49Speaker 1: bowls of cereal at around midnight or 1230, going to
- 45:53Speaker 1: bed by yourself.
- 45:55Speaker 2: Love my wife.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Love laying next to my wife. Love my kids. Love
- 45:58Speaker 1: when my kids are in the house. But having that
- 46:00Speaker 1: solo time, holy shit, bro.
- 46:03Speaker 2: And apologies. It's new dads, Will. I think you'll like
- 46:07Speaker 2: this new dad comment you have. But I just want
- 46:11Speaker 2: to throw out, that's a personal dad win. Solo time?
- 46:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Is pretty incredible.
- 46:18Speaker 1: And then I slept in Sunday, got a little sweat in,
- 46:23Speaker 1: came to the shop. I was probably at the shop
- 46:24Speaker 1: for like seven hours just watching ball and watching tape
- 46:27Speaker 1: from Saturday.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:29Speaker 1: And it's just like no pressure of I need to
- 46:31Speaker 1: go get back home. I need to go do this.
- 46:32Speaker 1: I need to go do that. Because the wife and
- 46:34Speaker 1: the kids are out in Maine. They're having a great time.
- 46:36Speaker 1: They were on the beach of calm water. Wife's sending
- 46:38Speaker 1: me photos. She's sending me videos. Rue's trying to hula hoop.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Scottie's just holding the hula hoop. God. But a good vibe.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Good dad went over the weekend. This is from Trevor
- 46:49Speaker 1: Siddell via email. Again, forthedads at gmail.com. Hey, boys, this
- 46:57Speaker 1: is Trevor Siddell from Northern Iowa. T's and P's to you.
- 47:01Speaker 1: On September 4th, my wife and I welcomed our identical
- 47:03Speaker 1: boys into the world. Firstly, I want to give a
- 47:06Speaker 1: huge shout out to my wife, Natalie, for being so brave.
- 47:09Speaker 1: and for growing these two miracles. She is a trooper
- 47:12Speaker 1: getting up and moving around just hours after her C-section.
- 47:15Speaker 1: She has been truly amazing for these boys. It really
- 47:18Speaker 1: makes a man appreciate what the woman body can do.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I also want to thank you boys for all your
- 47:23Speaker 1: guidance and encouragement through your words and.
- 47:26Speaker 2: This community you've built.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I am so grateful for you boys sharing stories, laughs,
- 47:30Speaker 1: and many memories. This part is for Will.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Just another... We just got another....
- 47:41Speaker 1: I've been thinking about your PT piss journey a lot
- 47:45Speaker 1: and where the issues stem from. I think a lot
- 47:47Speaker 1: of this has to do with diet and your past.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Will eating all the subpar Nebraska corn really did a
- 47:55Speaker 1: number on your situation.
- 47:56Speaker 2: You motherfucker did.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Not to mention, you then bought into the Nebraska football team.
- 48:03Speaker 1: That was mistake number two. Here in Iowa, we not
- 48:06Speaker 1: only have the superior corn, but we also own the
- 48:09Speaker 1: Nebraska football team. Hopefully you have time to think about
- 48:12Speaker 1: this over and maybe take a field trip to the
- 48:16Speaker 1: superior land.
- 48:17Speaker 2: I think this could help you tremendously. Go Hawks. First
- 48:25Speaker 2: they're sweet, then they're sour, dude. That was well done.
- 48:34Speaker 2: He got, he got me too. I read it in
- 48:36Speaker 2: the pre-pro when I was doing the pre-pro reading.
- 48:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:40Speaker 2: I got to the second paragraph. I started belly laughing. Yeah.
- 48:44Speaker 2: That's funny. Like that's well done. And I mean, they
- 48:50Speaker 2: do own us right now. Oh, I know. I know.
- 48:54Speaker 2: I know. Hey, can I, do I think they will
- 48:57Speaker 2: at the end of the year? I don't know. They
- 48:58Speaker 2: seem to, they put a 40 on somebody. Brass and
- 49:02Speaker 2: Prenta football team this year. Can I, can I press
- 49:06Speaker 2: pause and not actually press pause, not actually press pause,
- 49:11Speaker 2: but can I press pause? Do we want and or
- 49:15Speaker 2: slash need a metaphorical hug on this podcast? Why are
- 49:22Speaker 2: you asking? Because sometimes the shit does get to you.
- 49:31Speaker 2: How's my boy doing? I'm doing good, man. Okay, good.
- 49:37Speaker 1: I'm doing solid. I'll tell you what. When it comes
- 49:40Speaker 1: to Papa Team Fit, dialed the fuck in. Truly.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Morning workouts? Morning, evening.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Really?
- 49:52Speaker 1: Not every day, but yeah, because I'm trying to do
- 49:54Speaker 1: the zone two and split it up into five days
- 49:57Speaker 1: of 30 minutes.
- 49:57Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:59Speaker 2: So like yesterday is a good example. In the morning.
- 50:03Speaker 1: I hit shoulders and chest. Sound like a PT fitter
- 50:06Speaker 1: right there.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Shoulders and chest.
- 50:07Speaker 1: But then in the evening, when SMU Florida State was on,
- 50:10Speaker 1: I went out on the treadmill in the evening. And
- 50:13Speaker 1: I've been dialed for probably the last two and a half,
- 50:17Speaker 1: two and a half-ish weeks, in between two and three weeks.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Dialed, bro. I'm down six pounds. Let's go. Yeah, man.
- 50:24Speaker 2: That's huge.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Okay, good. So I am doing well. I want to
- 50:30Speaker 2: make sure that you are doing well. Because as we
- 50:33Speaker 2: read these comments. Like, do I wish white people would
- 50:35Speaker 2: put a bow on it every now and then?
- 50:37Speaker 1: Yes!
- 50:38Speaker 2: I'm like, Will's getting it from left and right. I
- 50:41Speaker 2: hope he's legitimately okay. Because I know he's got stressful
- 50:46Speaker 2: weeks ahead with the CFB stuff. Yeah. If there's anything
- 50:52Speaker 2: that weighs on it the most, it's, it's all, it's preparation. Yeah,
- 50:55Speaker 2: for sure. It's wanting to be right. It's wanting to
- 50:57Speaker 2: be ready to go.
- 50:58Speaker 1: It's like taking this role, not very seriously to where
- 51:02Speaker 1: it's like, not to like lose my authenticity or anything else,
- 51:04Speaker 1: but I want.
- 51:05Speaker 2: To do a good job.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:06Speaker 2: You wouldn't take it seriously as like showing that you're
- 51:09Speaker 2: putting forth effort and that you're giving a good product.
- 51:12Speaker 1: And I feel those good nerves throughout the week, especially
- 51:14Speaker 1: when we were getting out to do our first bus
- 51:16Speaker 1: and paid on campus show, like the nerves going into
- 51:19Speaker 1: it and, Should I sit and continue to look over
- 51:21Speaker 1: my notes and write stuff down? And I was like, dude,
- 51:23Speaker 1: fuck it. Like, yeah, like that's how I was in
- 51:25Speaker 1: football when I played football. Like I always studied all
- 51:27Speaker 1: the way up to basically before we got fully strapped
- 51:31Speaker 1: up and ready to go in the locker room. Always
- 51:33Speaker 1: thinking about every situation. And I'm like getting to do
- 51:37Speaker 1: that with this. Yeah. With being more in college football,
- 51:40Speaker 1: with being a piece of ESPN in their college football universe.
- 51:44Speaker 1: But I think about that. That's like, yeah, I think
- 51:47Speaker 1: about the football and the performance aspect around the clock.
- 51:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Cause it's a big opportunity, man. Like they didn't have
- 51:54Speaker 1: to give us a pod. They didn't, it's not even
- 51:56Speaker 1: a pocket. They didn't have to give us a show.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:59Speaker 1: Like paid is incredible. Like paid somebody who can go
- 52:02Speaker 1: on any of them. He's somebody you can envision on
- 52:04Speaker 1: game day one day. And I'm not like downplaying Taylor myself,
- 52:07Speaker 1: but I just think like they're allowing a podcaster to
- 52:10Speaker 1: come and do a show. Give us the keys to
- 52:13Speaker 1: the creative direction. Not like fit in on a show
- 52:16Speaker 1: that currently exists. Like, no, we want you three because
- 52:19Speaker 1: you guys have so much fun on the locker room
- 52:21Speaker 1: on college football.
- 52:22Speaker 2: We want that.
- 52:23Speaker 1: But you guys put into a show format in college
- 52:25Speaker 1: football with a live, with a live team, a live
- 52:29Speaker 1: audience with live production. We're going to give you our
- 52:30Speaker 1: production crew, but it's your guys' ideas. It's your guys' show.
- 52:34Speaker 1: And I feel like it's a massive opportunity because you're,
- 52:36Speaker 1: you're working with Mickey mouse, you're working with Disney and ESPN.
- 52:40Speaker 1: It's like, they, man, they, they don't have to do that.
- 52:44Speaker 1: And it's like, dude, that is, uh, it's just an
- 52:46Speaker 1: incredible opportunity.
- 52:48Speaker 2: I actually, I, that goes very well with my, um,
- 52:54Speaker 2: lesson of the week. If we want to go out
- 52:56Speaker 2: of order, like the lesson of the week, it almost
- 52:59Speaker 2: hits on that. Exactly. Um, I talked about this in
- 53:04Speaker 2: our pre-production meeting for last week, I believe. Yeah, I
- 53:09Speaker 2: got you. I talked about this in our pre-production. Yeah,
- 53:16Speaker 2: get a Lucy. Yeah. Talked about this topic in our
- 53:22Speaker 2: pre-production meeting, I think two weeks ago. Did a little
- 53:27Speaker 2: extra homework on it. And I think that I have
- 53:32Speaker 2: it whittled down a bit better from my delivery of, uh,
- 53:36Speaker 2: two weeks ago, but will, I think this might resonate
- 53:40Speaker 2: with you, um, specifically with the, um, opportunity that you
- 53:47Speaker 2: have on ESPN, because this was a great reminder for
- 53:52Speaker 2: myself with, uh, my family and my life at home
- 54:00Speaker 2: and the opportunity that I have been given here. It's
- 54:05Speaker 2: like a very good optics reset for me. So the
- 54:09Speaker 2: theme is earning it and what it means to earn it.
- 54:14Speaker 2: And when I played this for the guys in the office,
- 54:17Speaker 2: I played the scene from Saving Private Ryan when Captain
- 54:20Speaker 2: Miller at the end, Tom Hanks' character, says to Private Ryan,
- 54:26Speaker 2: to earn this, to earn it. And he's talking about
- 54:29Speaker 2: to earn the sacrifice that those troops made in order
- 54:34Speaker 2: to save Private Ryan's life and get him sent home
- 54:38Speaker 2: to his family so his mom and dad could have
- 54:41Speaker 2: at least one son survive World War II. Captain Miller
- 54:46Speaker 2: says to Private Ryan to earn it. Private Ryan says
- 54:51Speaker 2: at Captain Miller's grave at the end of the film,
- 54:55Speaker 2: that he has lived a good life and they hopes
- 54:58Speaker 2: that that alone was enough to earn the life that
- 55:02Speaker 2: was afforded to him. In that scene, it shows the
- 55:05Speaker 2: image that every man most likely will struggle with at
- 55:09Speaker 2: one point or another asking themselves, am I good enough?
- 55:13Speaker 2: Have I done enough? The visual metaphor that's being displayed
- 55:17Speaker 2: to the audience in that final shot of private Ryan
- 55:21Speaker 2: leaning down to captain Miller's grave, um, is Ryan is
- 55:28Speaker 2: fighting with his own thoughts of, did I have a
- 55:30Speaker 2: good life? While his family is physically seen behind him.
- 55:34Speaker 2: Two generations, kids and grandkids. They're all standing there lovingly
- 55:38Speaker 2: and proud of their grandfather. If Private Ryan could just
- 55:42Speaker 2: release his own doubts and turn around and see the
- 55:45Speaker 2: fruits of his life while lived, his family, he would
- 55:48Speaker 2: know certainly that he has indeed earned it, the opportunity.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Private Ryan's final line in the film is he actually
- 55:56Speaker 2: turns to his wife and he softly pleads with her
- 55:59Speaker 2: and he says, please tell me I've led a good life.
- 56:02Speaker 2: Tell me I'm a good man. The lesson of earning
- 56:06Speaker 2: it is not only putting in the work, but being
- 56:09Speaker 2: able to look back and see what you've accomplished so
- 56:12Speaker 2: that your own self can realize that you have earned
- 56:16Speaker 2: the life that you've worked so hard to obtain. You've
- 56:19Speaker 2: worked so hard to afford the life that you provide
- 56:22Speaker 2: to your loved ones and you have earned it. And
- 56:26Speaker 2: if you ever find yourself asking, did I earn this?
- 56:29Speaker 2: What a great place to be. In that moment, challenge
- 56:32Speaker 2: yourself to look on your wins, count those daily grinds,
- 56:36Speaker 2: the weekly sacrifices, and yearly commitments, as well as lifelong achievements.
- 56:42Speaker 2: And realize that what's been presented to you that's causing
- 56:46Speaker 2: you to ask yourself, did I earn this? It was
- 56:49Speaker 2: truly earned. But you got to keep going and keep
- 56:54Speaker 2: earning it every single day. Well said, man. Thank you.
- 57:02Speaker 1: What, what, what had you come across that? Um, I
- 57:08Speaker 1: was being intentional about that message.
- 57:11Speaker 2: Oh, I, I was challenged of like earning it, like
- 57:15Speaker 2: what that definition meant to me, uh, by a life coach.
- 57:19Speaker 2: And she essentially was just like, she thought my interpretation
- 57:26Speaker 2: of earning it was warped. And she asked me to
- 57:31Speaker 2: challenge myself on defining what earning it meant to me. And, uh,
- 57:38Speaker 2: was just basically like, you know, ask yourself that for
- 57:41Speaker 2: over the following week, just defining that. And then I've
- 57:45Speaker 2: always loved the movie saving private Ryan. That's been one
- 57:49Speaker 2: of my favorite films for a really long time. And so, uh,
- 57:54Speaker 2: I remembered that line, obviously, since it's, you know, one
- 57:57Speaker 2: of the more famous lines from the film. And I
- 58:00Speaker 2: was like, well, I'll just, I'll study that scene and
- 58:03Speaker 2: see what I can like pull from it. And it
- 58:05Speaker 2: breaks your heart seeing that old man stand over the
- 58:08Speaker 2: gravestone with this family behind him. Cause you're like, dude,
- 58:12Speaker 2: you did earn it. Like, look at your like awesome
- 58:16Speaker 2: family that's there and like your loving wife, she loves you.
- 58:20Speaker 2: And like, you have these beautiful grandkids and like, any
- 58:25Speaker 2: of those men that sacrificed themselves would be so happy
- 58:28Speaker 2: to see where you are in life now. Like nobody's
- 58:32Speaker 2: sitting there counting whether you earned it or not. And
- 58:36Speaker 2: so for me, it was just kind of looking back
- 58:39Speaker 2: on past things that I've done, both professionally and as
- 58:44Speaker 2: well as like just the building of my family and
- 58:48Speaker 2: life decisions of wanting to be a better man. Uh,
- 58:53Speaker 2: wanting to be a better husband, wanting to be a
- 58:55Speaker 2: better father and, uh, being able to look back on
- 58:59Speaker 2: those improvements and looking back on my fails too, that
- 59:02Speaker 2: I've learned from and being able to be like, yeah, man,
- 59:08Speaker 2: like I've, I've. earned where I'm at right now. I
- 59:12Speaker 2: got to keep doing it. Like I got to keep fighting,
- 59:14Speaker 2: but I got to be able to kind of lift
- 59:17Speaker 2: that veil and see the good things that I've been
- 59:21Speaker 2: able to do. Because as you know from private conversations
- 59:25Speaker 2: with you and I, the negative thought tapes run heavy
- 59:31Speaker 2: in my mind.
- 59:32Speaker 1: It's having a moment to be proud of yourself.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 59:37Speaker 1: Would you be uncomfortable sharing what your warped version of
- 59:40Speaker 1: earning it was?
- 59:42Speaker 2: And it's okay if so. Honestly, just like refusing being...
- 59:47Speaker 2: Great question.
- 59:49Speaker 1: And again, just for context, I'm more so prefacing it
- 59:52Speaker 1: because I feel like a lot of parents, dads, like
- 59:55Speaker 1: people who sit with their own thoughts like this and
- 59:57Speaker 1: never articulate what's going on in their mind, you could
- 59:59Speaker 1: hear something like that. Like he had a warped version
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: of what's earning it. I wonder what he meant by that.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Great question. And I would say that my warped version
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: of it is.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: I am extremely against the idea of myself accepting a
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: handout or accepting a gift that I wasn't deserved and
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: being given an opportunity that I didn't deserve or somebody
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: getting something because of their name, because of their family's legacy,
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: because of their blank. I'm very against that. I'm very
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: fearful that, um, any type of success or any type
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: of thing that was afforded to me was like, just
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: kind of gifted to me. Like that my wife like
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: does these things around the house for me that like,
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: I don't deserve that. Like I didn't do anything to
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: deserve that. I'm just like getting handouts from my wife
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: when I fall short or like Willie C and Taylor
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: reaching out to me, um, you know, when I'm freelance
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: directing and Fort Worth and like, I felt like I
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: had nothing on my resume that was worth you guys,
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: like taking a chance on me. Um, but like looking
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: back retrospectively, it's like, Hey, Will and Taylor did give
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: you a huge opportunity. And Jill does give you gifts
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: every single day that like aren't deserving, but you also
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: are putting forth like work and effort and grinding. Like,
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: you're not sitting around on your ass and like sitting
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: on your hands and just like, oh, who's going to
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: help me next? Please somebody come save me. So yeah,
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: I think that to me it was like, you couldn't
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: earn it if you had help from anyone. That's not
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: earning it. Like you didn't do that. You had some
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: help from somebody. Oh yeah. Sherman's getting to co-hosts on
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: a podcast and stuff. Well, yeah, it works at Boston.
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: Those guys are huge. Like it's, it's will show. And
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: like Sherman's just kind of on there with the mic
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: in front of them. Um, like just that, like not
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: like I, I felt like I hadn't earned anything in
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: my life. If that made sense.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: It wasn't like you find a way to kind of
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: sabotage yourself for having something. Also that also that of like, um, Yeah.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: And that was the whole point of, to my life
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: coach point is like, you can't earn it until you
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: accept it. Like there is no earning of anything until,
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: until you accept it. You got to accept it or
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: else it's never earned. Then it's just, you're on a
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: war path of just, and nothing's good enough. Nothing, you know,
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: will satiate your drive and hunger.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: So.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: Yeah. Appreciate you sharing that. Thank you.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Thank you. Thanks for having me. I thank you. Private Ryan.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: I have a dad hack last week. I was, I
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: opened with the question of activities for kids to do
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: while you're working out. And I do have a dad
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: hack kids in garage. And this comes from Ben Sims.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Hey boys. Been here from Michigan. Go green.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: I am the dad of a beautiful four month old girl. Lenora.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: I have a dad hack in response to Will's request
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: for activities the kids can do while he's working out.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: Depending on the equipment you're working with, you can add
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: a jungle gym and playground pieces to the equipment.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: Most of this would be do-it-yourself. Sorry, Willie One Shelf. Well,
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: okay then.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: If that's sorry, Willie One Shelf, I need you to
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: give me something, Ben, that I'm going to be able
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: to do.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: Yeah, Ben, come on, man.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Examples might include... a swing attached to the squat rack.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: All you need is chains, a board, and some bolts.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: To connect them. A climbing board, plywood with wooden pegs
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: and dowels attached. Is it dowels? Yeah. Okay.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: And an old mattress for the kids to jump on
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: and off of. They're also, they're also can teach. These also,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: you know what? I misread that. These also can teach
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: the kids that the gym and exercise is fun, And
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: it helps us all feel better about each other and ourselves.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: Love you boys and best of luck with BT Fit.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Ben. P.S.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: I have a bonus that hack inspired by your mention
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: of children with disabilities the other week. As part of
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: my job, I have the privilege of working with individuals
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: who have disabilities, some of whom are children. While most
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: of us are able to go online and on social
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: media to receive care tips for our children, parents of
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: kids with disabilities don't always have the same level of
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: information sharing available. care circle is a free app for
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: parents of uh for parents of children with disabilities to
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: share care tips and tricks parentheses dad hacks stories dad
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: wins and losses and support each other in the context
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: of kids with disabilities thank you for.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: That uh thank you for the ps ben.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: The only thing i take from that is the mattress
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: i think the mattress is a good little vibe You
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: throw matches on the ground and let them jump around
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: and go on and off. Because little Scotty, she loves
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: getting on the boxes that I have.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: And I'm like, sweetheart, we can't. You just can't be
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: doing that.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: She loves hanging on the dip bar. It's low enough
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: for her to just hang on to. And she's got
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: a bit of a grip on her. We've been doing that.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: But the swing is like, who's going to have a
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: swing on a squat rack? I'm using the squat rack.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: And also, who's building the swing? Who's building that shit?
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Who's building the swing on the squat rack? All right,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: now it's time to do my set. How long are
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: you going to take swinging?
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: I got to go. It's been three minutes. I'm PR-ing today.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: How long are you using that machine, Scotty? Yeah, Scarlett's
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: been doing the little gym stuff, so the mattress, to me,
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: sounds a whole lot like those matts that they have
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: in Scarlet just, she's climbing all over those things. I mean,
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: that would have her attention for easy 10 minutes. This
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: comes from Cole Sauber. This is a dad hack. They
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: don't make those anymore. It's the title of the email.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Cole says, what up boys? Cole, 30-year-old father to two-year-old daughter,
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: six-month-old son, and the wife has one in the oven, ETA,
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: April 27th. At this rate, she's getting that damn minivan.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: Come on, man. I have a dad hack that's worked flawlessly,
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: so I have to share. Get in the habit of
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: telling your kids they don't make those anymore. When they're
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: asking for something you don't want to give them. When
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: they're asking for something you don't want to give them
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: or it's time to be done with, they're asking for
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: their third granola bar for the day and already ruined lunch.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: They don't make those anymore. Bro, that's so funny, dude.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Asking for a patsy while you're trying to wean them off.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Oh man, they don't make those anymore. They're wanting a
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: diaper while you're trying to body train them. Oh man,
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: they actually don't make those anymore. Works every time and
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: there's nothing better than it being someone else's fault. Love
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: the pod. It's offered priceless advice and helped me feel
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: less alone in my journey of becoming a not just father,
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: but dad. Don't forget to take out the trash. Cole Saubert. Dude,
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: that's genius. That's a good one. That's a good one.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: That's genius. They don't make those anymore. I needed that yesterday. Oh, shoot.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: I don't think they make those anymore. I needed that yesterday.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: The kids wanted Scotty Hussein bilk. That's milk.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: Rue's wanting milk. I'm telling them no. Because it's about 520.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: Dinner's going to be around 6 o'clock. And we already,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: I speak about it at length. I speak about it
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: at volume on this show, but we're always waiting on
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: the kids to eat their food. Always waiting on the
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: kids to eat their food. Sometimes, yeah, we get lucky
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: every now and then. They might go clean play club
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: and they might just be eating out of the gate.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: And I can't even think of a time when that's happened.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: But it's always... You're having to play games. You're having
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: to do Tickle Monster. You're having to do, okay, yesterday
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: we had to turn into clapping. All right, Rue goes, yay, Rue,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: it took a huge bite. Scotty, are you going to
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: take a big bite to one-up her?
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: And Scotty would go, yay, but it's always a circus. Yes.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: But going back to the milk, Scotty, bulk, bulk, bulk.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, we're not getting milk. We got dinner
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: coming up. Scotty starts crying. She starts breaking down.
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: I'm talking. drops to her knees, stomach to the floor,
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: face in the ground, crying. Because she wants bulk.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: She wants bulk. And Rue wants milk. And I'm like, sweetheart, no, no,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: don't do this. Like dinner, dinner is going to be coming.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: And don't just start crying because Scotty's crying. She starts crying.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: She's an empath. Yeah. They're both crying. It's just me
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: and them in the living room. And I had just gotten, uh,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: gotten home, like from picking them up at the airport.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: And I'm just like, Oh my God. Trying to find like, Oh, Scotty,
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: look at this. She says, she's like, stop, stop. Like, okay, okay, okay.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: No toy. And she's like, stop. I'm like, okay, I
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: won't look at you, dad. I won't look at you.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: This is all because of bulk?
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: This is all because of bulk. She hasn't gotten, she's
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: still belly down on the floor. I'm like trying to
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: get down on the ground with her and start crawling like, oh, oh, oh, stop, stop.
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: Puts her hand out.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: Then when she puts her hands out, I pretend she's
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: like Darth Vader and I start going.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: Just to try to get her out of being upset.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: She wouldn't.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: She was upset. Rue, as she's crying. And I've already
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: explained to Rue why it's not happening. She walks back
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: to the office where mom is. And I'm starting to feel.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Scotty's louder. Rue's back there talking to mom. I hear
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Rue kind of crying. And Charles is like, why can't
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: they have milk?
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: And I'm like, because dinner's going to be coming up.
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: We need them to eat their food, bro.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: She's trying to get work done because she just got
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: back from, you know, they left Friday morning.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: So she's trying to get back in the mode, catch
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: up on a couple things. Catch up on some work-related stuff.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: She's like, why don't you just give them milk? Just
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: a little bit of milk. And they're just in the
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: poutiest mood. Go over, get the milk. Toss Scotty her
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: milk on the ground. Rue's laying on the couch. I'm like,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: you can go get your milk in the pantry. I'm
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: not bringing it to you. Just tight, bro. And then
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: I'm boiling in my mind.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: I'm like, sweetheart. You gotta have my back.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Yeah. But she's probably just trying to get some stuff done.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: There's too many noises going on and everything else. She's
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: just like, why don't you just give him a little
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: bit of milk?
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: But to me in those moments, those are the moments
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: where he's going to know she can just cry and
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: come to you, me or you, and then get what
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: she wants.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: Not in my house. Not in my house, baby. But
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: it was in my house. I don't even know. I
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: really don't even know how we got to this story.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: But I love this story so much. Because my man
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: said they don't make it anymore. They don't make those anymore.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: That's what it was. That's what it was. You didn't
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: need that. I needed that yesterday. They don't make milk anymore.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: They don't make milk anymore. I don't know what happened. What?
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: Cows don't make milk anymore? I swear to God. I
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: swear to God. Also, I think I came up with
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: the million dollar app idea. an app that when your
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: kid gets old enough to start questioning, if they don't
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: make it anymore, hand them, you open up the app
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: and it looks like a search engine and you hand
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: it to him. You say, you search it up, ask
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: him if they make milk anymore. And the answer is always, no,
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: they do not make blank anymore. And it's all just
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: AI that it just, it agrees every single time it says, no,
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: they don't make that anymore. You're sitting on a gold mine.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: You're sitting on a gold mine. Thank you. Thank you.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: Can I have a Toaster Strudel, Dad? No, they don't
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: make it anymore. You can look it up, I swear
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: to God. They don't make it anymore. You can make.
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: Those fake news stories and just put like, blah, blah, blah, recalled.
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: Like, milk is recalled nationwide. See, they took it all back.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Toaster Strudel recalls over 50,000 units and they're not going
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: to make it anymore.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: You can also just type in an image of the
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: word no and be like, hey, I just searched it
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: on my phone.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: This is an app. This is an app. We got
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: to download it.
- 1:12:57Speaker 7: Mom and Dad make love anymore.
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: No.
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: No.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: No, don't make that anymore. It's been out for a year.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Seven reviews, two star rating.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: One of the ratings is five stars. It's Willie C.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: It just says gold mine. Why didn't I think of this?
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: They did this shit for years.

- 1:16:52Speaker 2: freezing cold. And we would complain about it like all
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: the time. And my mom was like, yeah, don't complain

- 1:17:23Speaker 2: up at the crack of dawn. Good.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Decided to get on PT Fitgrind and hit a two-mile
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: walk with the wife and baby. Stopped midway at a
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: basketball court. Told wifey to check rock. She proceeds to
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: whoop my ass in a classic game of pig. Good
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: to know my jumper is broken. Worked to sweat up
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: just to get back and crack a great lollipop. All

- 1:18:31Speaker 2: Let's go. Yeah, it was fun. Sign off.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: Last one right here. Lesson of the week from Jonah
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Kearns on Spotify.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: Come on, Jonah. He says... cows turn and run when
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: they sense a storm causing them to be in the
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: storm longer as it overtakes them the gosh darn American
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: bison turns and runs directly into the coming storm, instinctually
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: knowing that approach means they will be in the... Damn it.
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: I'm going to restart that.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: I'm restarting that because this seems like a banger. Cows
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: turn and run when they sense a storm, causing them
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: to be in the storm longer as it overtakes them.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: The gosh darn American bison turns and runs directly into
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: the coming storm, instinctually knowing that approach means they will
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: be in the storm for less time. Face your problems
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: head on. Walk into the storm. Be the bison.
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: That's heat. That is heat. Be the bison. Take out
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: the trash. Unless it's Labor Day, because then they'll take
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: it out the next day. Unless it's Labor Day, because
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: then they'll take it out the next day. Well said.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: Well said. Good call. That saved me this week. Good call.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: Don't forget to take out the trash. Talking to myself.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: We will see you next week. Big hugs. Tiny kisses.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: Papa Team 6 out.
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: Ew!
