- 0:01K, how how tough was that one to finish
- 0:04off a tough year,
- 0:06>> man? Every every loss is is tough, but
- 0:08man, um that's an instate rivalry, so
- 0:11you know, every every year we had a loss
- 0:14to him. It was it was always tough.
- 0:17Every each year is worse than the next,
- 0:18so that was that was pretty bad.
- 0:24as a defense, you guys, I mean, you guys
- 0:25only held 280 yards, but had
- 0:28opportunities and then key penalties.
- 0:29How frustrating was that tonight?
- 0:31>> Um, completely completely frustrating.
- 0:36>> Um, like you said, we played really
- 0:37solid on defense, key moments. We got to
- 0:40be better. I mean, that's just been a
- 0:41problem all season.
- 0:43Um,
- 0:46yeah, we just we just got to play sound
- 0:47football, you know, and and we we
- 0:49haven't really put that together on on
- 0:51film uh yet this yet. So, I mean, we we
- 0:55still have room to improve. Um,
- 0:59and it's just, you know, it's just so
- 1:02much room to improve in that team and we
- 1:04got so much talent. You know, the the
- 1:06future is bright.
- 1:09Keldrick Kim's one of your leaders,
- 1:11probably the best player on the offense.
- 1:12Yeah.
- 1:12>> I'm interested what you told him post
- 1:14game and pick him up in the locker room.
- 1:16>> Um, man, just to keep being him, keep
- 1:19him keep having a smile on his face. You
- 1:22know, everybody in the country knows
- 1:24that Cam is going to be a a high draft
- 1:26pick next year. I mean, everybody in the
- 1:28country knows that. You know, I'm sure
- 1:30he knows that, too. So, you know, the
- 1:33best thing for him to do is is to come
- 1:35to work with a with a smile on his face
- 1:37and to keep keep that work ethic he's
- 1:39been having. You know, don't change
- 1:40anything about himself and just just
- 1:42keep being human. [snorts]
- 1:43>> How would you describe these last four
- 1:45weeks or so, you know, playing for DJ
- 1:47Derby?
- 1:47>> The best four weeks of my life. They
- 1:50these last four weeks felt like actual,
- 1:52you know, they they felt like college
- 1:54football. um you know from from
- 1:56Vanderbilt to to now it was just you
- 1:59know a different uh different atmosphere
- 2:03within the um within the whole team. Um
- 2:07>> yeah it was just different and um
- 2:10I'm grateful.
- 2:12>> Has his future been addressed with you
- 2:14guys at all?
- 2:14>> Um nah it really has. I've been more
- 2:18focused on my guys anyway. So
- 2:21>> Kendrick, Coach Den called you the one
- 2:24of the best leaders he's ever coached in
- 2:25his entire career. What does that mean
- 2:26to you?
- 2:27>> Uh man, that means a lot cuz coach
- 2:28didn't coach, you know, great guys like
- 2:32he didn't call he didn't coach like guys
- 2:34that did it at the at the highest of
- 2:37levels that you can. So um I know he had
- 2:41some great leaders in the past and for
- 2:42him to call me the best one is, you
- 2:45know, a milestone in itself. You know, I
- 2:47try to be my myself and my best uh every
- 2:50day I can and um you know, it seems like
- 2:54my myself was was good enough.
- 2:57If this was your last game at Auburn,
- 2:58what's what's what's these three years
- 3:00meant to you?
- 3:01>> Man, um
- 3:04probably the best couple years of my
- 3:06life, you know, from my freshman year to
- 3:09to now, man, it's it was, you know, some
- 3:12of the best years I've I've ever had
- 3:14here. And um man, you know, I ain't
- 3:18nothing but I ain't nothing but grateful
- 3:20for every memory, you know, that I had
- 3:23and all the memories that I will make.
- 3:26[snorts]
- 3:26>> You mentioned you felt like the future
- 3:28was bright. You you came in when when
- 3:30this program was at the bottom, even
- 3:32though it hadn't worked out record-wise,
- 3:33you said you feel like it's close. Do
- 3:35you feel like you you guys have set the
- 3:36table for something coming?
- 3:38>> Man, we most definitely did. Um,
- 3:41you know, if you remember a couple years
- 3:43ago, man, we would be we wouldn't even
- 3:47be be in games sometimes. Um, but now,
- 3:51you know, we we in games. We we holding
- 3:53teams under, you know, I think it was 24
- 3:56points until Vanderbilt or something
- 3:57like that. So, I mean, we was we've been
- 3:59in games before. Now, the next step is
- 4:02just finishing the game. You know, we we
- 4:05have the game in our hands. We just have
- 4:06to learn how to finish the game the
- 4:08right way.
- 4:10This team's faced a lot of adversity
- 4:11throughout the season. We all stuck
- 4:12together. How strong is the bond between
- 4:15all the guys in the locker room?
- 4:17>> Um,
- 4:18man, our our bond is is crazy strong cuz
- 4:21just like you said, we done faced so
- 4:23much adversity from having a head
- 4:25coaching change to, you know,
- 4:27uncertainty in our head coach. Um, you
- 4:31know, we we don't know what's happening
- 4:32with that, but then nobody look forward
- 4:35nobody look at that. We looked at, you
- 4:37know, we have a couple more games
- 4:38together as as, you know, this group
- 4:40right now. And, you know, we're going to
- 4:42make the best of them.
