- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. Playfac go to roll right, jumps it off
- 0:07Speaker 1: into the right class to Michael Bumpers, who bounce us
- 0:09Speaker 1: off on one tackler gets inside the forty down of
- 0:12Speaker 1: the thirty five yard line. Powered by Seahawks dot Com,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Matt pump fakes looking at the goal line. He throws
- 0:17Speaker 1: it into the end zone. Touchdown. Say Hawks, it's Michael
- 0:21Speaker 1: Bumpus with a diving catching the end zone ten yard
- 0:24Speaker 1: touchdown reception for Bumpus, and the kid out of Washington
- 0:28Speaker 1: State has found himself a place on this team. Now
- 0:31Speaker 1: here's your host, NASA Chubby. Welcome into another edition of
- 0:35Speaker 1: Hawks Hawk, the preview edition the Seahawks taking on the
- 0:38Speaker 1: Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on the road, a
- 0:41Speaker 1: little Christmas Eve action edition. Thanks for joining us. He's
- 0:44Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. I'm NASA Chobe. The Seahawks coming off a
- 0:47Speaker 1: loss last Thursday, enjoying a little extended by probably shouldn't
- 0:51Speaker 1: call to buy days off, and they're getting into this
- 0:53Speaker 1: week back at it, hopefully looking to turn the page,
- 0:57Speaker 1: get that bad taste out of their mouth. And write
- 0:58Speaker 1: the ship because the playoff are still in contention. We'll
- 1:01Speaker 1: tell you about that in a second, but let's get
- 1:03Speaker 1: right into it. What's on tap? What's on tapp? Kansas
- 1:11Speaker 1: City Bump eleven and three, first place in the AFC West,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and I'm not going to sugarcoat it, man, you're the
- 1:16Speaker 1: real deal football team. I've been trying to find some
- 1:20Speaker 1: weaknesses and I'm still working and we'll share with you
- 1:22Speaker 1: what we found. But this is a good football team.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Eleven and three big wins. That beat up on Arizona,
- 1:29Speaker 1: beat the Chargers twice Tampa Vegas. The most impressive win
- 1:33Speaker 1: all year was smacking the forty nine twenty three. Since then,
- 1:38Speaker 1: the forty nine Ers haven't lost the game, so they've
- 1:40Speaker 1: gotten right since that moment, and the chiefs of cap
- 1:42Speaker 1: rolling they're actually six and one. They did lose a
- 1:44Speaker 1: game to Buffalo and Cincinnati were two good teams and
- 1:47Speaker 1: kind of a question will lost to Indie early in
- 1:49Speaker 1: the season, But these guys are good. They've won two
- 1:52Speaker 1: games recently against Denver in Houston, and one of the
- 1:55Speaker 1: few things that stands out to me, Bump, is that
- 1:58Speaker 1: they've won a lot of games with them not all blowouts.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Three point went over the Titans in overtime NITA late
- 2:03Speaker 1: fourth quarter touchdown, ten point went over the Jags, three
- 2:06Speaker 1: point went over the Chargers, sixteen points over the Rams
- 2:09Speaker 1: without Stafford, three point loss to the Bengals, six point
- 2:12Speaker 1: win to a bad Broncos team that they were blowing
- 2:14Speaker 1: out like at back in it, and then a six
- 2:16Speaker 1: point win over a bad Texans seems a bump. I'm saying,
- 2:19Speaker 1: there's a chance. Tell me why after you saw the
- 2:22Speaker 1: Chiefs play the Texans last week. While you think the
- 2:24Speaker 1: Seahawks have a chance at this one, ah man, if
- 2:26Speaker 1: there's a chance, it's turning the football over. The Chiefs
- 2:29Speaker 1: have turned that thing over over the past couple of weeks.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So let's hope that you get some of that and
- 2:35Speaker 1: capitalize on those things. You gotta capitalize on them. But
- 2:37Speaker 1: let's talk about this Chiefs in Titans game. Excuse me,
- 2:41Speaker 1: Chiefs and Texans game. The Texas came into the same
- 2:43Speaker 1: one eleven and one. No reason to worry, right, You
- 2:46Speaker 1: should never worry about a team with that record, But
- 2:49Speaker 1: you are wrong, man. The Texans came out with a
- 2:51Speaker 1: seven old lead early on eleven plays, eight yard drive
- 2:54Speaker 1: and you're thinking, okay, man, something might happen right here.
- 2:57Speaker 1: But the Chiefs answered with a seven place seventy five
- 2:59Speaker 1: yards rob of their own, with Jared McKinnon's twenty yard
- 3:02Speaker 1: touchdown tying the game at seven. Then both teams exchange touchdowns,
- 3:06Speaker 1: but the Chiefs would miss an extra point. Then the
- 3:08Speaker 1: Texans would take a fourteen thirteen lead out a half time. Now,
- 3:12Speaker 1: so I'm thinking the score can't be right. ESPN after
- 3:14Speaker 1: typo something we're wrong. Oh, I mean, no question about it.
- 3:18Speaker 1: The Texans man, they're one and eleven. But as a
- 3:20Speaker 1: lot of people say, blump, it's the National Football League
- 3:23Speaker 1: and anybody can get at any given weekend. It didn't
- 3:26Speaker 1: happen there. Chiefs answer in the second half, you know,
- 3:29Speaker 1: kind of go back and forth. Texans score, Chiefs score,
- 3:32Speaker 1: back and forth. Game Now, the Texans kick a field
- 3:34Speaker 1: goal that tied the score twenty four with five minutes left.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Chiefs would answer with an eleven play drive, setting a
- 3:40Speaker 1: fifty one yard field goal by Harrison Bucker. He would
- 3:43Speaker 1: go wide right. They go into overtime. First possession ot
- 3:46Speaker 1: Texans get a huge stop, forcing the Chiefs to punt
- 3:49Speaker 1: on the first possession so you're thinking and Houston, okay,
- 3:51Speaker 1: they might do this thing. Well, first play the next drive.
- 3:55Speaker 1: That's why you're a Texans fan. It's pain. I get it.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Brank Clark, former seoff, forces phone on Davis Mills. Before
- 4:01Speaker 1: you know the next play, Jared M. Kennon is in
- 4:03Speaker 1: the end zone. Chiefs win, clinching their seventh straight AFC
- 4:08Speaker 1: West title. It's pretty impressive, bout Yeah, that is impressive.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Tough way to lose for the Texas man they were
- 4:14Speaker 1: in the game, and then the Chiefs is doing what
- 4:16Speaker 1: they've done over the past seven years, clinching the division.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Pat Mahomes was number the number fifteen we know and love,
- 4:23Speaker 1: thirty six to forty one, three to thirty six yards
- 4:25Speaker 1: and two touchdowns, completed eighty seven percent of his passes.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I don't think I've seen that ever or just not
- 4:32Speaker 1: in a very long time. I just don't remember. But
- 4:34Speaker 1: that's impressive. It also ran for thirty three yards and
- 4:37Speaker 1: one touchdown. Isaiah is a Pacheco. I keep wanting to say.
- 4:41Speaker 1: My son asked me how to say his name yesterday.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I'm golden. I'm going with Pacheco, but I'll have you
- 4:46Speaker 1: right by Sunday, all right, Saturday, all right, and then
- 4:50Speaker 1: then I'll relay it to my son because I've been
- 4:51Speaker 1: messing him up a whole week. He led all running
- 4:54Speaker 1: backs with eighty six yards on fifteen carriers, and the
- 4:56Speaker 1: chorus shuff as Kelsey did his thing. He had ten
- 4:58Speaker 1: receptions for five yards. Yeah. Man, the Chiefs dominate. That's
- 5:03Speaker 1: what they do offensively, because that's what stands out bumping
- 5:06Speaker 1: this head to head when you look at these two teams,
- 5:08Speaker 1: Seahawks and the Chiefs, number one total offense, number one
- 5:12Speaker 1: pass offense, number one points per game at twenty nine.
- 5:16Speaker 1: They're doing it, man, and that's the thing that jumps out. Obviously.
- 5:18Speaker 1: You know, Patrick Mahomes will get into all the other
- 5:20Speaker 1: guys that match up that present matchup issues. But they
- 5:24Speaker 1: can score that thing, and they're aggressive, you know what
- 5:26Speaker 1: I'm saying. Defensively, they're okay, they're not bad at all.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Fourteen there's middle of the league, so they're obviously getting
- 5:32Speaker 1: things done. They stop the run at a pretty high clip,
- 5:34Speaker 1: fifth in the league at that past defense twenty second
- 5:37Speaker 1: points per a game given a twenty three game. That's
- 5:39Speaker 1: nineteenth in the NFL. But you mentioned it they're turning
- 5:43Speaker 1: the ball over. The Chiefs have a minus six turnover differential.
- 5:47Speaker 1: That's thirty if in the NFL. So if there's a
- 5:50Speaker 1: if there's a chink in the armor, if there's a
- 5:52Speaker 1: way to get to these Chiefs, it's turning that ball
- 5:53Speaker 1: over because you look at that offense bump and it
- 5:56Speaker 1: makes you scared. Yeah, and I doubt Pat Mahomes is
- 5:59Speaker 1: gonna complete eighty seven percent passes again if he does,
- 6:02Speaker 1: be some of the greatest back to back performances ever.
- 6:05Speaker 1: But I like our secondary when you compare it to
- 6:07Speaker 1: the tech and secondary. So we'll see. Man the Seahawks offensively,
- 6:10Speaker 1: they ring fourteenth overall defensively ring twenty nine. Where the
- 6:13Speaker 1: Hawks shine on offense points per game, they average twenty
- 6:16Speaker 1: five points per game. They ring seventh there, ninth pass
- 6:19Speaker 1: twenty second. Comes to the run, Seahaw defense are thirty
- 6:22Speaker 1: first against the run, seventeenth against the pass. So we
- 6:24Speaker 1: know that the Chiefs love to throw the ball. I'm
- 6:27Speaker 1: interested to see if they come out and say, let's
- 6:29Speaker 1: test this run game like everyone else has been and
- 6:31Speaker 1: see if we can loosen it up that way. End
- 6:34Speaker 1: of the day, you know they're going to rely on
- 6:36Speaker 1: their playmakers like Pat Mahomes, no question about it. And
- 6:40Speaker 1: the other thing lastly on the head to head is
- 6:42Speaker 1: the Seahawks turnover there plus one, which is tied for
- 6:44Speaker 1: thirteenth in the NFL. The only problem MP is lately
- 6:47Speaker 1: they haven't caused many turnovers and they'd been given that
- 6:49Speaker 1: thing away. The Seahawks have not had a game this
- 6:52Speaker 1: year without a giveaway, which is insane because I believe
- 6:55Speaker 1: last year there was nine games where they took care
- 6:57Speaker 1: of the rock. So definitely something they're gonna need to
- 6:59Speaker 1: get done against the Chiefs. But these guys are old
- 7:02Speaker 1: AFC West rivals. Let's know the history, no your history,
- 7:07Speaker 1: chiefly the all time series thirty three to nineteen with
- 7:10Speaker 1: many of those, like I said, coming when the Seahawks
- 7:12Speaker 1: were members of the AFC West. However, last meeting primetime
- 7:16Speaker 1: showdown on Sunday Night Football at Louman Field, as the
- 7:18Speaker 1: Seahawks beat the Chiefs thirty eight thirty one. It was
- 7:22Speaker 1: the first season Patrick Mahomes was a full time starter
- 7:24Speaker 1: in his rookie year. Is crazy. I was looking back
- 7:26Speaker 1: at his stats from his rookie years, true starting he
- 7:29Speaker 1: threw from five thousand fifty touchdowns, twelve picks nine It's gracious.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And you know, since then, obviously he's won a Super Bowl,
- 7:37Speaker 1: played in another Super Bowl, he hasn't gotten close to
- 7:39Speaker 1: really hitting those numbers. So that was an unbelievable year
- 7:41Speaker 1: as a rookie. But in that back and forth shootout,
- 7:44Speaker 1: Seahawks deliver the final knockout blow. Chris Carson runs over
- 7:47Speaker 1: Daniel Sorenson for one yard touchdown, capping off in a
- 7:50Speaker 1: play seventy five yard drive. Carson had things going that
- 7:52Speaker 1: nine hundred and sixteen yards on twenty seven carries, two touchdowns,
- 7:56Speaker 1: and my guy Doug Bablin went off one hundred twenty
- 7:58Speaker 1: six yards seven receptions and the game really ceiling touchdown.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Other guys got some good work that day too, Nick
- 8:04Speaker 1: Vanette at Dixon, Russell Wilson had a decent day eighteen
- 8:07Speaker 1: to twenty nine, two seventy one, three touchdowns. So Bump,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I'm hoping the Seahawks can generate some of that good energy,
- 8:14Speaker 1: some of those good vibes taking on a tough Chiefs team.
- 8:17Speaker 1: You know, it's probably gonna have to turn into a shootout.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I'm hoping it's not up there in the thirties or forties.
- 8:22Speaker 1: But if they can do it in that cold weather,
- 8:24Speaker 1: it's probably gonna need about thirty points to beat beast team.
- 8:27Speaker 1: So but we'll go back to the NFC West, check
- 8:30Speaker 1: on what happened this last week what's the word? And
- 8:37Speaker 1: the Seahawks are the NFC West champs again what's the word?
- 8:41Speaker 1: In the West? On Hot Talk? Niners are at top
- 8:46Speaker 1: of the division, sitting pretty at ten and four, the
- 8:49Speaker 1: Seahawks to seven and seven. The Cardinals are four and ten,
- 8:51Speaker 1: and the Rams are four and ten as well. The
- 8:53Speaker 1: Niners locked up the division last Thursday against the Seahawks
- 8:57Speaker 1: on Thursday Night Football. But let's look at the division.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Cardinals went up to Denver and the Cardinals man, they
- 9:04Speaker 1: were playing with their backups, backup, Cold McCoy was supposed
- 9:07Speaker 1: to play and then that didn't work out. He's out
- 9:09Speaker 1: with a concussion, so they bring in their backup, backup,
- 9:12Speaker 1: but they got the job done. Twenty four to fifteen.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Fred Ripping got the start for the Denver Broncos. Russell
- 9:17Speaker 1: Wilson was still dealing with the concussion. That concussion was nasty, man.
- 9:20Speaker 1: He got up, got a bump on his forehead didn't
- 9:22Speaker 1: look right. I felt bad for us in that moment,
- 9:27Speaker 1: but yeah, you're playing with the backups. The Broncos got
- 9:30Speaker 1: their first one six October five games in a row.
- 9:32Speaker 1: They have lost before that. They lost nine of their
- 9:35Speaker 1: last ten. They needed this win and they got it done.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Ripping was under pressure all day. He got sacked seven times,
- 9:42Speaker 1: but managed to do a decent job. Man twenty one
- 9:44Speaker 1: to twenty six, one ninety seven, one touchdown and one interception.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Let Tavia's Murray Man. I haven't seen his name on
- 9:50Speaker 1: a statue whennumbers like this in a while. Twenty four
- 9:52Speaker 1: carries for one thirty and one touchdown. On the other side,
- 9:56Speaker 1: the Cardinals started cold. McCoy he was playing for Kyler Murray,
- 9:58Speaker 1: but then he had a concussion in the He goes
- 10:00Speaker 1: out Trace McSorley. I looked him up nass at Penn State.
- 10:04Speaker 1: He was filthy. He wasn't really good at Penn State.
- 10:06Speaker 1: He was I remember, and he kind of shot up
- 10:08Speaker 1: the draft board at the end and obviously hasn't panned
- 10:10Speaker 1: out in the league. But he was a good college
- 10:11Speaker 1: player for sure. Yeah, the Cardinal struggle to get Indian
- 10:14Speaker 1: going offensively, but we're leading nine to three in the third,
- 10:18Speaker 1: but three straight touchdowns for the Broncos put the game
- 10:21Speaker 1: out of reach. I love when I find guys like um,
- 10:25Speaker 1: like a McSorley that you you recognize, an amy like hey,
- 10:28Speaker 1: where's it come from? An ego and you see them
- 10:29Speaker 1: ball out and seeing all these backups go at it.
- 10:32Speaker 1: It was fun, man. Yeah. And the only reason this
- 10:34Speaker 1: game means a dang thing, bump is worth thinking about
- 10:37Speaker 1: the draft pack exactly the Broncos. So it's not it's
- 10:42Speaker 1: not the end of the world, Seahawks fans. The Seahawks
- 10:44Speaker 1: were in position at the number two pick with that win.
- 10:46Speaker 1: They've fallen to the number third pick in the twenty
- 10:49Speaker 1: twenty three draft, so we'll see. I don't know one
- 10:52Speaker 1: that scares me with the Broncos bump is they're playing
- 10:54Speaker 1: the Rams, and the Rams are all kind of disarrayed
- 10:55Speaker 1: about to talk about them here in a second, So
- 10:57Speaker 1: we'll see. It's still still gonna be good. I still
- 11:00Speaker 1: believe that's very easily going to be a top five
- 11:01Speaker 1: pick regardless, So we'll keep you updated there. But the
- 11:04Speaker 1: Rams Monday Night Football go down to Green Bay. Taking
- 11:07Speaker 1: Elle was twenty four to twelve on the road, Baker
- 11:11Speaker 1: Mayfield had the Mojoe rockin Roland doing his thing and
- 11:15Speaker 1: that comeback win on Thursday Night Football last week, that
- 11:18Speaker 1: luck ran out as they you know, just couldn't really
- 11:20Speaker 1: get it done. They're only down ten six at the half,
- 11:23Speaker 1: but it was all all Packers in the second half.
- 11:26Speaker 1: AJ Dillon two rushing touchdowns, Aaron Rodgers doos for one,
- 11:30Speaker 1: Mayfield goes twelve or twenty one for one to eleven
- 11:32Speaker 1: one touchdown. One pick was sacked five separate times. So
- 11:37Speaker 1: with that loss, the Rams eliminated from the playoffs. Yes,
- 11:41Speaker 1: it's the second earliest defending Super Bowl champion has been
- 11:44Speaker 1: eliminated from playoff contention in the last thirty seasons. Only
- 11:47Speaker 1: the ninety nine Broncos were eliminated in Week fourteen. The
- 11:51Speaker 1: difference there is John Eli went back to back Super
- 11:53Speaker 1: Bowls then retires, So they finished six and ten that year.
- 11:56Speaker 1: But Rams obviously not making it back. A lot of
- 11:59Speaker 1: guys out and that's kind of what's cocked up to them.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Aaron Donald, Stafford, Cup, you name it. They're not playing.
- 12:05Speaker 1: But why does this impact the Seahawks? You ask Bump.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I didn't even think about this really until pregame of
- 12:11Speaker 1: that game yesterday, because believe it or not, the Packers
- 12:14Speaker 1: aren't done. If they ran out, they will be nine
- 12:17Speaker 1: and eight and they will be right there in the
- 12:19Speaker 1: thick of it. So they do have a tough schedule
- 12:21Speaker 1: Dolphins Vikings lines. But if they won out, and let's
- 12:24Speaker 1: say the Seahawks only win two of their next three,
- 12:27Speaker 1: the Packers would hold the tiebreaker. And here's what Seahawks
- 12:30Speaker 1: fans really need to understand. A no, here what really
- 12:33Speaker 1: hurt about losing all those games in the NFC south.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Of course, you don't want to lose games at all, right,
- 12:39Speaker 1: but the fact that they were in the NFC, because
- 12:42Speaker 1: when he goes to the wild card, the tiebreakers are
- 12:45Speaker 1: head to head then conference record, and those were four
- 12:49Speaker 1: losses in the NFC. The Seahawks are five and six
- 12:51Speaker 1: in conference and they only have one more conference game remaining,
- 12:55Speaker 1: so the best they can do with six and six.
- 12:56Speaker 1: So that's why those really hurt. But bomb you can
- 12:59Speaker 1: take gets through this playoff picture because the Seahawks still
- 13:02Speaker 1: do have a chance. Yeah, they still got a chance.
- 13:05Speaker 1: They're sitting outside looking at the Washington Commanders. They're seven
- 13:08Speaker 1: to six. The Hawks are seven and seven behind them
- 13:10Speaker 1: you mentioned in Green Bay Packers, but right behind them
- 13:13Speaker 1: you have the Detroit Lions. And the Lions are hot
- 13:17Speaker 1: right now too. That's nothing I want to point out.
- 13:19Speaker 1: The Lions are playing good football. Green Bays bouncing back.
- 13:22Speaker 1: This is gonna be a race to the finish when
- 13:24Speaker 1: we look at the playoffs situation. But here's a look
- 13:27Speaker 1: at what each one of those teams. So I've left
- 13:29Speaker 1: right we're talking about the New York Giants. They still
- 13:32Speaker 1: got Minnesota, Indianapolis, in Philly. I look at Minnesota and
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm watching their comeback win this past weekend. They're flying high,
- 13:40Speaker 1: they're feeling good. Indianapolis, I feel like they're in disarray.
- 13:43Speaker 1: And then at Philly. We all know how we feel
- 13:45Speaker 1: about Philly. I think they're the most balanced team in
- 13:47Speaker 1: the league. I see I see maybe one win out
- 13:50Speaker 1: of those three with New York guys. One win. Yeah.
- 13:53Speaker 1: The only thing that scares me is Philly in Week eighteen,
- 13:56Speaker 1: are they going to be resting guys? Yeah? And that's
- 13:59Speaker 1: why I was hoping. You know, if Jalen Hurd something
- 14:02Speaker 1: not hope for an injury, but he might not play
- 14:03Speaker 1: A Sweet Gardnermentshire or guy Gookus is gonna be playing,
- 14:06Speaker 1: it looks like, but if they have no one to
- 14:08Speaker 1: play for, that's what scares me. There Washington. I think
- 14:11Speaker 1: this is the seahawks best chance. Washington play San fran
- 14:14Speaker 1: that's an now, oh that's a loss. They got Cleveland,
- 14:19Speaker 1: that's a big toss up, and then Dallas. I would
- 14:22Speaker 1: hope the Eagles will lose a couple. So Dallas is
- 14:24Speaker 1: still playing for something because they win the division, then
- 14:27Speaker 1: they can only get the high schoold card, which was five.
- 14:29Speaker 1: So what needs to happen is that Cleveland game is
- 14:32Speaker 1: going to be a lot for the Seahawks. Obviously the
- 14:34Speaker 1: Seahawks could win out, but for Washington, I believe that's
- 14:37Speaker 1: the best chance for the Seahawks to get that seven
- 14:40Speaker 1: spot as they jump Washington. And it's the Commanders losing
- 14:43Speaker 1: two of those three. This team scares me the most,
- 14:46Speaker 1: or this scenario, this situation. The Detroit Lions. Man, they
- 14:50Speaker 1: played Carolina Chicago in green Bay. Now after yesterday, I
- 14:53Speaker 1: feel a little bit stronger about green Bay. But these
- 14:56Speaker 1: are all three games that the Lions could win. I
- 14:59Speaker 1: can see going out and going through. You know, the
- 15:01Speaker 1: upshot of all this is that Seattle may have a
- 15:03Speaker 1: lot of trouble catching up to the Giants, but could
- 15:05Speaker 1: have something of an edge on Washington. So it's, uh,
- 15:11Speaker 1: it's you're watching the Giants, You're watching Washington, You're watching
- 15:16Speaker 1: Detroit every weekend to figure out what's gonna happen here,
- 15:20Speaker 1: no question, And who who would have thought that Week
- 15:22Speaker 1: four win or whatever it was against Detroit was gonna
- 15:24Speaker 1: set the big win for the Seahawks crucial. I mean,
- 15:28Speaker 1: Dan Campbell got dumb boys playing, but hey, pay attention,
- 15:30Speaker 1: bump set at New York, Washington, Detroit, and I guess
- 15:33Speaker 1: the quasi on Green Bay when you're talking about this
- 15:36Speaker 1: playoff picture. But it comes down to what the Seahawks
- 15:38Speaker 1: can do on the field. They have three games. Everyone
- 15:41Speaker 1: out in their moms and essentially given Kansas City this win.
- 15:44Speaker 1: We're gonna go through these matchups and tell you why
- 15:46Speaker 1: the Seahawks might have a chance. But I'm not going
- 15:48Speaker 1: to sugarcoat it. These Chiefs are very good. Let's get
- 15:51Speaker 1: into those matchups. A man up, this man up on
- 16:02Speaker 1: Hawk Talk, starting with the quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Nowhere else
- 16:08Speaker 1: to start. This man is the real deal. He's the
- 16:10Speaker 1: best QB in the National Football League in my opinion,
- 16:12Speaker 1: and the stats back that up. He leads the NFL
- 16:14Speaker 1: in passing yards with four thousand, four hundred ninety six,
- 16:17Speaker 1: four hundred and seventy seven yards ahead of Justin Herbert,
- 16:20Speaker 1: who's number two. He leads the league in touchdowns with
- 16:22Speaker 1: thirty five sixt and completion percentage thirteen yards per attempt,
- 16:26Speaker 1: third in QB rating. He's also the leader of the
- 16:28Speaker 1: NFL's number one offense, number one passing offense the Chiefs
- 16:33Speaker 1: lead the NFL, and points per game. He's on the
- 16:35Speaker 1: year three seventy two for five fifty two, four thousand,
- 16:39Speaker 1: four ninety six, thirty five touchdowns, eleven interceptions, sack twenty
- 16:42Speaker 1: three times, also the second leading rusher on the team
- 16:45Speaker 1: in three hundred and thirteen yards on fifty two carries
- 16:48Speaker 1: in three touchdowns, and rich in our PR department gave
- 16:51Speaker 1: me the stat just before I walked in here. He's
- 16:53Speaker 1: also chasing history this week. Mahomes enters the game with
- 16:56Speaker 1: an active streak of twenty completions in a row. The
- 17:00Speaker 1: NFL record is twenty five, held by four players. So
- 17:03Speaker 1: we're hoping, you know, Triquel and gets a nice PBu
- 17:05Speaker 1: on the first play the game on the side to
- 17:07Speaker 1: throw that thing. So Mahomes doesn't get any of that history.
- 17:11Speaker 1: But when you look the film, man, these guys are good.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Mahomes can make all the throws, all the Sports Center
- 17:17Speaker 1: top tens. The defense is going to face their biggest
- 17:19Speaker 1: challenge of the year. On paper, it looks like they
- 17:21Speaker 1: want to throw that thing and the only real knock,
- 17:24Speaker 1: as we mentioned, is turnover to Frenchial. They're mightety six.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Only the Colts and the Saints have a worst to
- 17:29Speaker 1: Frenchial mightety twelve. And they also have given the ball
- 17:31Speaker 1: away twenty one times. Only four teams have more than that.
- 17:34Speaker 1: So Mahomes doesn't have any weaknesses in this game. If
- 17:38Speaker 1: you want to maybe see to one, it's a team
- 17:40Speaker 1: turning them ball over. But the defense is gonna have
- 17:42Speaker 1: their hands full of Patrick for sure. Yeah, man, this
- 17:45Speaker 1: is what he does best quarterback in the league right now.
- 17:47Speaker 1: For a reason. He will put up points and put
- 17:49Speaker 1: them in a position to win. Let's talk about our
- 17:51Speaker 1: quarterback Geno versus Chiefs defense. Man. He played the number
- 17:55Speaker 1: one defense in the land last Thursday, and he did
- 17:59Speaker 1: all right. Man thirty one four two thirty eight in
- 18:01Speaker 1: one touchdown. Thursday was Gino's fourth game this season with
- 18:04Speaker 1: a passer rating less than ninety nine, so clearly we
- 18:08Speaker 1: knew what these guys were up against. Defensively, against the Niners,
- 18:11Speaker 1: they made a tough on him in His streak of
- 18:13Speaker 1: multiple touchdowns and seven straight games came to an end
- 18:15Speaker 1: against the Niner as well. He has twenty six touchdowns
- 18:18Speaker 1: as a career high on the season. He remains the
- 18:21Speaker 1: leader when it comes to completion percentage seventy one point
- 18:24Speaker 1: four percent. He's set seventh and passing yards fourth, in
- 18:27Speaker 1: touchdowns second, and passer rating fifth in QBR. Needless to say,
- 18:31Speaker 1: this guy's still putting together a good season. I expect
- 18:33Speaker 1: him to be in the Pro Bowl this year. We
- 18:35Speaker 1: shall see. On the year I mentioned its numbers thirty
- 18:38Speaker 1: three excuse me, three hundred thirty seven or four seventy
- 18:40Speaker 1: two for three six hundred and seventy one yards, twenty
- 18:43Speaker 1: six touchdowns, eight interceptions, and he runs the ball decently too.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I didn't know Gino had a little bit of a
- 18:49Speaker 1: little bit of stride, but he has ye a little burst.
- 18:52Speaker 1: He's got fifty six scares for two eighty one and
- 18:54Speaker 1: one touchdown Defensively, the Chiefs our fourteenth in the league,
- 18:59Speaker 1: allowing three hundred thirty two yards. Not bad, not good,
- 19:02Speaker 1: But they got some names over there. Bet you recognize
- 19:05Speaker 1: against the past or ranked twenty first. So it's really
- 19:08Speaker 1: all about Gino taking care of the ball and being
- 19:11Speaker 1: the guy we think he is. It's gonna be tough,
- 19:14Speaker 1: it's gonna be cold, it's gonna be windy, we shall see.
- 19:16Speaker 1: But good numbers against a decent defense with some guys
- 19:19Speaker 1: whore gonna make some players. Yeah, we're gonna need Gino
- 19:21Speaker 1: to be on it because I think this team is
- 19:22Speaker 1: gonna have to be flying on all cylinders on offense,
- 19:25Speaker 1: score a lot of points, and it starts with Gino
- 19:28Speaker 1: looking at the Chiefs running attack. Isaiah Pacheco versus Seahawks
- 19:32Speaker 1: front seven. Obviously I mentioned earlier. When you think about
- 19:34Speaker 1: the Chiefs, you don't think about the run game. But
- 19:36Speaker 1: they're they're not bad. They're sixteenth the NFL, so about
- 19:38Speaker 1: the middle of the pack, averaging one hundred nineteen yards
- 19:41Speaker 1: per game. Leading the attack this year is Pacheco, the
- 19:44Speaker 1: rookie in his first season out of the Rutgers. On
- 19:46Speaker 1: the year, one hundred thirty nine carries six hundred and
- 19:49Speaker 1: seventy seven yards, three touchdowns. Not used very much in
- 19:52Speaker 1: the passing game, only has ten receptions for eighty yards.
- 19:56Speaker 1: And the Chiefs leading rusher in twenty twenty and their
- 19:58Speaker 1: second leading rusher in twenty one was Edwards Hilaire. He
- 20:01Speaker 1: came into the season the starter, but lost his job
- 20:03Speaker 1: in most his playing times. But Checko then to make
- 20:06Speaker 1: things worse, Edwards Hilaire suffers a high ankle sprand goes
- 20:09Speaker 1: to I R at the end of Nomember. Now the
- 20:11Speaker 1: other healthy running back to have in that stable is
- 20:13Speaker 1: Jared McKinnon sixty three carries, two seventy four and a touchdown.
- 20:17Speaker 1: He's also effective pass catcher with forty six receptions four
- 20:20Speaker 1: twenty nine five touchdowns. Big week last week against the
- 20:23Speaker 1: Texans on hundred and twenty two total yards two touchdowns.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Now it's no secret the Seahawks have struggled to stop
- 20:29Speaker 1: the run. Over the last five weeks. The Seahawks have
- 20:31Speaker 1: allowed one thousand and eight yards rushing one sixty one
- 20:34Speaker 1: of the Bucks, two eighty three the Raiders, one seventy
- 20:36Speaker 1: one of the Rams, two twenty three to the Panthers,
- 20:38Speaker 1: and one seventy to the forty nine ers. That's an
- 20:41Speaker 1: average of two o one. Obviously, we know that's not
- 20:43Speaker 1: good enough. Things did feel a lot better last week, though,
- 20:45Speaker 1: I'll say that outside of the last run, which I
- 20:47Speaker 1: know you can't eliminate, but before that they held the
- 20:50Speaker 1: Niners two hundred and fifteen yards and thirty three carries.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Still need to improve, but I think this could be
- 20:55Speaker 1: the week on the season. The Hawks, or thirty first
- 20:56Speaker 1: in rushing defense, give up one hundred and sixty one
- 20:59Speaker 1: a game, So I mean this needs to get stopped here,
- 21:02Speaker 1: especially with everything that they can do. The running game,
- 21:05Speaker 1: wals Wood can't kill you because if the Chiefs are
- 21:07Speaker 1: two dimensional, it could be a long day on defense.
- 21:11Speaker 1: And you know they're gonna try. You have to try it.
- 21:13Speaker 1: You have to give it a go and see what
- 21:14Speaker 1: happens there. The secondary and linebackers are gonna have their
- 21:18Speaker 1: hands full as well. You got Travis Kelsey, Juju Smith, Shooster,
- 21:21Speaker 1: Marquez Valdez Scantlin all ready to go for the Chiefs.
- 21:25Speaker 1: They got the best passing attack in the game, no
- 21:29Speaker 1: doubt about it. And that's even after losing Tyreek Hill,
- 21:32Speaker 1: who had fifteen hundred twenty nine yards. He's having to
- 21:35Speaker 1: get year over there in Miami too. He just keeps
- 21:37Speaker 1: the party going. But the Chiefs still got some guys.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Man Travis Kelsey the best passcashing tight end in the league.
- 21:43Speaker 1: He's got ninety one receptions, eleven hundred forty four yards
- 21:46Speaker 1: and twelve touchdowns. Ninety one receptions, that's a while. His
- 21:50Speaker 1: one thousand, one hundred and forty four receiving yards is
- 21:53Speaker 1: six in the NFL and of course first amongst tight
- 21:56Speaker 1: ends by a wide margin. Hockinson, who made the move
- 21:59Speaker 1: from Minnesota from Denver to Minnesota, Detroit to Minnesota, It's
- 22:03Speaker 1: had himself a good year seven hundred and thirty yards.
- 22:05Speaker 1: But Kelsey is on a different level. Man. It's and
- 22:09Speaker 1: it's funny watching Kelsey because you see him move and
- 22:11Speaker 1: he doesn't seem like an explosive player. He just has
- 22:14Speaker 1: a great feel for the game, man. And this run
- 22:16Speaker 1: after the catch is sneaky as sneaky as well, So
- 22:19Speaker 1: it's he's a tough one. But they got another threat,
- 22:22Speaker 1: Juju Smith Schuster. He's got seventy one quiet receptions for
- 22:25Speaker 1: eight fifty and three touchdowns. He's the team's second leading receiver,
- 22:30Speaker 1: and Marquez Valdez. This was a great pick of them
- 22:33Speaker 1: and another threat. He has thirty seven recesss for six
- 22:36Speaker 1: thirty two in two touchdowns. This is gonna be a
- 22:39Speaker 1: test for these guys on all levels. You got tight end,
- 22:42Speaker 1: you got two receivers who can get it done. You
- 22:43Speaker 1: mentioned they're running back as well. So the Hawks are
- 22:47Speaker 1: seven against the pass this year, So let's look like
- 22:49Speaker 1: number ten or twelve. I'm hoping so man, because Kelsey
- 22:52Speaker 1: seven straight one thousand yards seasons, ninety one receptions as
- 22:55Speaker 1: a tight end. And when you watch the film I
- 22:57Speaker 1: watching them play the Rams earlier this year, he put
- 23:00Speaker 1: Jalen Ramsey in a blender and I'm like, how is
- 23:02Speaker 1: a guy his size? When you watch him, like, how
- 23:04Speaker 1: is he getting open? It doesn't matter how he's getting open,
- 23:08Speaker 1: he just does it. He's gonna be a first ballot
- 23:09Speaker 1: Hall of Famer in my opinion when he gets there.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I mean, it's gonna be tough. But this is the
- 23:15Speaker 1: first time and over a month that we're looking at
- 23:17Speaker 1: the pass game, and I think Tariq, Mike Jackson, Quandre
- 23:21Speaker 1: Diggs are up to the challenge and I would love
- 23:23Speaker 1: to see them get their opportunity to really show what
- 23:25Speaker 1: they can do in the secondary to try to create
- 23:27Speaker 1: some turnovers because we are gonna need that for show. Now.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Seahawks offensive line the learned matchup looking at them, looking
- 23:34Speaker 1: at going against Chris Jones, Frank Clark, and Carlos Dunlap.
- 23:38Speaker 1: So the Chiefs, their defense is about middle of the pack,
- 23:41Speaker 1: but they get after the quarterback their fourth in the
- 23:43Speaker 1: NFL and sacks with forty three. They're also fifth in
- 23:46Speaker 1: QB pressures with one hundred and fifty one. Leading the
- 23:49Speaker 1: charge for those Chiefs. His defensive tackle, Chris Jones. On
- 23:52Speaker 1: the season, Jones's thirty two tackles, eleven sacks, twelve TFLs,
- 23:56Speaker 1: four passes defended, two forced fumbles. His eleven sacks leads
- 24:00Speaker 1: a team. So he's doing it from an interior position,
- 24:03Speaker 1: which is crazy to see. He's been doing it for
- 24:04Speaker 1: a long time now. He's not a new name out there.
- 24:07Speaker 1: The other two guys you've got Frank Clark, Carlos Dunlapp
- 24:10Speaker 1: obviously spent time in Seattle. Frank Clark, who the Seahawks drafted,
- 24:13Speaker 1: and he's having a decent year. Thirty two tackles, five sacks,
- 24:16Speaker 1: six TFLs and then you got Carlos Dunlapp, who last
- 24:20Speaker 1: year still other team in sacks. He didn't play a lot.
- 24:22Speaker 1: There's some you know, consternation about that. He obviously leaves,
- 24:25Speaker 1: goes to Kansas City and he got his hundred sack
- 24:27Speaker 1: of his career. So big ups. Carlos Dunlap always enjoyed
- 24:30Speaker 1: our conversation in the locker room. He's a good dude.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Thirty six tackles on the year, four sacks, five TFLs.
- 24:36Speaker 1: In his one and a half years with Seattle he
- 24:38Speaker 1: had thirteen sacks and thirty five tackles. Frank Clark in
- 24:41Speaker 1: his four years had thirty five sacks and thirty five TFLs.
- 24:44Speaker 1: So the one thing I'll say, the offensive line has
- 24:48Speaker 1: played so well this year, and I would say recently
- 24:51Speaker 1: they've struggled a little bit at times keeping Gino clean.
- 24:54Speaker 1: You know, in the last five weeks they've allowed sixteen sacks.
- 24:57Speaker 1: They allowed twenty one in the previous nine games. So
- 25:00Speaker 1: they need to play their best game in the year
- 25:02Speaker 1: for sure, because the score points. Female is gonna need
- 25:04Speaker 1: a tighter pocket than he had against the forty nine ers. Yeah,
- 25:08Speaker 1: for sure, Oline is gonna have to step up It's
- 25:10Speaker 1: gonna be nice to us see our guys over there,
- 25:12Speaker 1: Frank Clark and Dunlap, but not don't play too well
- 25:15Speaker 1: this Saturday plays. This next matchup, we got DK and
- 25:19Speaker 1: Marquis did win going up against this Chief's secondary Legarius
- 25:23Speaker 1: Snead and Trent McDuffie as well as Joshua Adams. Mcduffey
- 25:28Speaker 1: went where nas the University of Washington And I'm gonna
- 25:32Speaker 1: let you say that now you can say that, all right?
- 25:37Speaker 1: What DK man. He's getting closer to his second one
- 25:40Speaker 1: thousand yards season. On the year, he's got seventy nine receptions,
- 25:43Speaker 1: nine hundred and twenty four yards and six touchdowns. He
- 25:46Speaker 1: is the fifth player of the NFL history to have
- 25:48Speaker 1: fifty plus reception and nine plus yards plus five plus
- 25:52Speaker 1: touchdowns and his first four seasons. DK metcalf is the guy,
- 25:56Speaker 1: and he's gonna have to be the guy because we're
- 25:58Speaker 1: trying to see who's gonna step in for Tyler Lockett.
- 26:00Speaker 1: He is going to be out. He's missed one regular
- 26:03Speaker 1: season game since twenty sixteen because of injury. He broke
- 26:06Speaker 1: his leg that year. It's two playoff games as well.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett just plays football. All right, that's what he does.
- 26:14Speaker 1: So and it's gonna be weird at having him out there.
- 26:16Speaker 1: So with him being absent, I was expect the tight
- 26:18Speaker 1: ends to get a bit more involved and hand the
- 26:20Speaker 1: ball off and screen to ken Walker. No offense. There's
- 26:24Speaker 1: a third leading receiver in this team. He's having a
- 26:26Speaker 1: good season to forty two receptions for four to fourteen
- 26:28Speaker 1: and three touchdowns. This is the guy I expect to
- 26:30Speaker 1: step up in Tyre Locket's absence, is Mark. He's goodwin
- 26:33Speaker 1: twenty seven receptions, three to seven and four touchdowns. You
- 26:37Speaker 1: you hear those numbers and you say, why him? Because
- 26:39Speaker 1: you see his receptions. They're big time receptions. Had a
- 26:41Speaker 1: great game in Tampa, big players on third downs, a
- 26:44Speaker 1: fourth down pick up as well. He's a veteran. He's
- 26:47Speaker 1: a guy that I see being able to step into
- 26:49Speaker 1: that role and phil avoid along with no offense. Yeah,
- 26:52Speaker 1: we're gonna need him to get your track shoes out
- 26:54Speaker 1: because he can run. We know that he can run
- 26:56Speaker 1: with the best film, you know, Olympic quality speed. And
- 26:59Speaker 1: we're hoping and see Marquise get really involved because, like
- 27:01Speaker 1: you said, you can't replace Tyler, and Tyler's hoping. You know,
- 27:04Speaker 1: he had a great surgery, Coach Tyler, everyone's hoping that
- 27:07Speaker 1: he might be back for that Jet game on New
- 27:09Speaker 1: Year's Day, So we'll see. In the meantime, we'll need
- 27:11Speaker 1: to see more from Marquise Goodwin. Treadwell has been promoted
- 27:15Speaker 1: to the rest of the year, to fifty three man roster,
- 27:16Speaker 1: so who'll get a couple opportunities. Three Young is also
- 27:19Speaker 1: in that receiving corps. But I think you're correct. The
- 27:21Speaker 1: thing is gonna come down to Marquise and no offense.
- 27:24Speaker 1: So we've gone through all the match ups. We've told
- 27:26Speaker 1: you who their guys are. We know the Chiefs are good,
- 27:29Speaker 1: but me and Bump are gonna tell you how to
- 27:31Speaker 1: see us and get that victory. Path the victory at
- 27:36Speaker 1: the forty five waits for the staff. Michael Dickson puts
- 27:39Speaker 1: it down. That kick is away, and that kick is gone.
- 27:44Speaker 1: It's gone. It's a path to victory. On Hawk Talk,
- 27:48Speaker 1: slow down the number one offense, mom patching Mahomes. He's
- 27:51Speaker 1: gonna put up his numbers. We know that that's a
- 27:53Speaker 1: fact book it. But one way to sew him down
- 27:56Speaker 1: is pressure and turnovers. The Hawks have been thin up
- 27:58Speaker 1: the defensive line. So we'll what happens without Woods and
- 28:01Speaker 1: the wrest of the guys up front. But they're gonna
- 28:03Speaker 1: need to generate pressure. The Chiefs have the third worst
- 28:05Speaker 1: turnover to French in the NFL, and they're gonna need
- 28:08Speaker 1: to be a factor. And in sawing down Patrick Mahomes,
- 28:10Speaker 1: if the Sehaws won't win this ball game, say it
- 28:13Speaker 1: every week? Every is it every week? Yeah? Every every
- 28:17Speaker 1: week this year. Stop the run, man, that's football for
- 28:21Speaker 1: You can stop the run, you can control the game.
- 28:23Speaker 1: And we know that the Hawks are struggled a little
- 28:25Speaker 1: bit and just don't allow a team that doesn't really
- 28:27Speaker 1: run the football to do that. And they're running enough
- 28:29Speaker 1: they would average one nineteen on the ground. Not great,
- 28:32Speaker 1: not horrible enough to keep you honest. So let's let's
- 28:36Speaker 1: change things up this game and stop the run. And
- 28:38Speaker 1: then also just know where Travis Kelsey is aka eighty seven.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Know where he is the whole time. He's a matchup nightmare.
- 28:46Speaker 1: I wonder if Ryan Neil he's a little banged up,
- 28:47Speaker 1: se if he's healthy, how he's gonna play him. If
- 28:50Speaker 1: Quandre plays him, he's it's gonna be tough, man. So
- 28:53Speaker 1: watch eighty seven. Stop the run. I hope you're right, Bump.
- 28:56Speaker 1: That's definitely gonna be a key to victory for sure.
- 28:58Speaker 1: And we gotta score points in this game. I think
- 29:01Speaker 1: you're probably gonna need to score thirty five. And to
- 29:03Speaker 1: do that, Gino is gonna need to play his best
- 29:05Speaker 1: game of the season. He's had a couple struggles as
- 29:07Speaker 1: of late, but he's also done a lot of really
- 29:09Speaker 1: good things. And he's not gonna have Tyer Lockett. So
- 29:12Speaker 1: who steps up? We know DK Hopefully he gets to
- 29:14Speaker 1: step up more thirteen personnel, more Marquis could win more.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Gino just taken what the defense is given him, but
- 29:19Speaker 1: also making plays down the field, like when he's done,
- 29:22Speaker 1: he's done it with his legs, he's done it with
- 29:23Speaker 1: accurate passing. So he needs to get back to everything
- 29:26Speaker 1: he's done this year, and I think he is ready
- 29:28Speaker 1: for the challenge. It's Christmas Eve. Anything can happen the Texans.
- 29:31Speaker 1: No one gave the Texans a shot last week and
- 29:33Speaker 1: they took him the overtime, so anything could happened. And
- 29:35Speaker 1: it's gonna it's gonna start offensively with Gino Smith run
- 29:39Speaker 1: the ball, all right, I said, stop the run. Now
- 29:42Speaker 1: we have to run. Ken Walker needs to have his
- 29:45Speaker 1: hands all over this game. He's at least twenty carries.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I say, twenty five touches. Twenty carries plus five receptions.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Use this young man, and then do better to do
- 29:55Speaker 1: a better job converting on third downs. At one point,
- 29:57Speaker 1: the Hawks were top three in the league when it
- 29:59Speaker 1: came to third down conversions. They dropped a bit, still
- 30:02Speaker 1: one of the better teams, but as of late hasn't
- 30:04Speaker 1: been that great third downs. Keep the chains moving, that's
- 30:08Speaker 1: a scared that's a recipe. That's what we need to do.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Nobody's giving the Hawks a chance this week. They can
- 30:13Speaker 1: shock the world, but they're not gonna shock anybody in
- 30:15Speaker 1: the Virginia Mason Athletic Center because they believe they can
- 30:18Speaker 1: do it, because they have the guys to get it done.
- 30:20Speaker 1: So let's keep the playoff hopes alive. They got nothing
- 30:23Speaker 1: to lose. Let's get it done on Christmas Eve against
- 30:25Speaker 1: the Kansas City Chiefs. We'll get going at seven am
- 30:28Speaker 1: on the radio. Hoh. It smokes back to another early
