- 1:40Speaker 6: This is a very unique situation and we'll explain later,
- 1:45Speaker 6: but we are here with the podcast King.
- 1:49Speaker 5: David S Crown.
- 1:50Speaker 4: He put his crown on your.
- 1:53Speaker 6: Social Proof empire, got the new studio in Atlanta. Thank
- 1:58Speaker 6: you for having us up there. You got your real
- 2:00Speaker 6: estate place that you've been working on. You got the
- 2:02Speaker 6: big event that you that you got coming up. You
- 2:05Speaker 6: got an online community. You've taught a variety of different
- 2:09Speaker 6: people how to actually get going in the podcast space,
- 2:11Speaker 6: how to monetize the space.
- 2:14Speaker 7: So let me just wait before before he's still the
- 2:17Speaker 7: first person that's ever done this, right, nobody's ever done
- 2:19Speaker 7: We're gonna explain this, but I'm not saying this. I'm
- 2:21Speaker 7: talking about what he's done already with us.
- 2:23Speaker 4: So you're the first person that we interviewed and then
- 2:25Speaker 4: you interviewed us right after. That's never happened, like ever,
- 2:29Speaker 4: that's never happened. So there's never been an episode.
- 2:31Speaker 6: It's happened before. Uh Envy did it multiple times? No, No,
- 2:36Speaker 6: the same day, the same day. Oh yeah, because yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 6: I came to the kitchen table interviewed. Yeah, and I
- 2:42Speaker 6: think we like switch seats or something. Yeah, we just
- 2:45Speaker 6: move We did musical chairs if.
- 2:47Speaker 4: The interviews job. But I have to say this upfront, man,
- 2:51Speaker 4: you all are one.
- 2:53Speaker 8: Was the motivation, Like I think I started podcasting before
- 2:56Speaker 8: you guys, But I met Willis the Cheesecake Factory and
- 3:02Speaker 8: I was having a conversation with Troy and it's like, man,
- 3:05Speaker 8: I like his stuff. Man, it's just because you know,
- 3:07Speaker 8: you don't do it every week, it's not consistent. And
- 3:09Speaker 8: I really took that to heart. I heard bro that
- 3:12Speaker 8: next Monday on the morning meet up. I'm like, yo, y'all,
- 3:15Speaker 8: I'm about to be consistent with this thing. I love
- 3:17Speaker 8: doing it. If I ever not drop an episode on Monday,
- 3:21Speaker 8: I would come on this call and give away like
- 3:23Speaker 8: two thousand dollars. Wow, that was I was offended because
- 3:27Speaker 8: you didn't you didn't say it in an offensive way
- 3:30Speaker 8: that I was offended.
- 3:31Speaker 6: But then also, let's talk about that moment for a moment,
- 3:35Speaker 6: because I saw you did reference that online, but what
- 3:38Speaker 6: you didn't reference was that he did give you education
- 3:41Speaker 6: after that.
- 3:42Speaker 7: Yeah, so that was that was that was that was.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Yeah, it was you know, it's just inconsistent.
- 3:50Speaker 7: It was when I saw the clip, I'm like, damn,
- 3:52Speaker 7: all right, cool. But what it was was like I
- 3:55Speaker 7: had to use you as a reference before us, right.
- 3:57Speaker 7: So I think we were interviewing Alex at the time,
- 3:59Speaker 7: and I was trying to find information is about information
- 4:01Speaker 7: about him, and it was your interview.
- 4:02Speaker 4: I'm like, Yo, this guy's great, and.
- 4:04Speaker 7: So I when I shaw you, I'm like, y, you know,
- 4:06Speaker 7: like you're really great at this, but the only thing
- 4:08Speaker 7: is that you don't do it enough, Like it's kind
- 4:11Speaker 7: of like you dropping it. And it was like it
- 4:13Speaker 7: wasn't even a challenge. Was like, yo, this is just
- 4:14Speaker 7: like positive critique. And then we had a longer conversation
- 4:17Speaker 7: because we went back to another time we went back
- 4:19Speaker 7: to Jeremy Anderson's house and I was like, well, let
- 4:21Speaker 7: me tell you in that moment.
- 4:22Speaker 4: In that moment, it slad.
- 4:23Speaker 8: It felt like I don't even remember anything you said
- 4:25Speaker 8: after like keep it off line. I'm like, I'm in
- 4:31Speaker 8: a space with some people that do the same thing
- 4:33Speaker 8: and they're recognizing my inconsistency. And I took it personally.
- 4:38Speaker 8: I needed it, of course, not did you say anything bad.
- 4:40Speaker 8: I was like, Okay, I gotta be consistent. Then later
- 4:44Speaker 8: on this is more flowers. We're gonna do a bouquete.
- 4:48Speaker 5: There we go.
- 4:50Speaker 8: I really started educating me on the podcasting space and
- 4:54Speaker 8: joined the Early Network and like just just one being
- 4:59Speaker 8: able to have proximity.
- 5:01Speaker 4: I never ever want to take that for granted.
- 5:04Speaker 8: Like you guys are like literally paving away and have
- 5:07Speaker 8: given me so much game, so much information, And.
- 5:10Speaker 4: I can honestly say I wouldn't know half.
- 5:13Speaker 8: The stuff that I know right now, even to teach
- 5:16Speaker 8: other people if it wasn't for you all half of it,
- 5:19Speaker 8: you all directly saying this is what you need to do.
- 5:21Speaker 4: The other half is watching and modeling.
- 5:23Speaker 8: So it's been an incredible, incredible journey even knowing y'all
- 5:28Speaker 8: so appreciate that. Yeah, for sure, appreciate that for sure
- 5:31Speaker 8: and been great to see your growth as well. Yeah,
- 5:35Speaker 8: you know, in consistency.
- 5:36Speaker 6: I think another person that wasn't the most consistent it
- 5:39Speaker 6: was nineteen Keys. He had a show people forget, like
- 5:42Speaker 6: High Level Conversations took over the world and you know,
- 5:44Speaker 6: gets ten million views every episode he puts out, but
- 5:48Speaker 6: people will forget that he had. He had a show
- 5:50Speaker 6: before High Level Conversation, and that was one of the
- 5:52Speaker 6: main issues, was the level of consistency.
- 5:54Speaker 4: So here's the crazy part.
- 5:56Speaker 7: The same conversation I had with you, I had with
- 5:58Speaker 7: him really same thing, and he was like, all right,
- 6:01Speaker 7: let's just do this then, let's just do this then,
- 6:04Speaker 7: and like obviously what the successes had now was just incredible,
- 6:07Speaker 7: but it was it was like you just see that,
- 6:09Speaker 7: like the talent is there, the message is there, the
- 6:12Speaker 7: pack everything was there. It was like, this is that
- 6:14Speaker 7: one piece? How are we going to do it? And
- 6:16Speaker 7: and and everybody can see what it turned out to be.
- 6:18Speaker 4: No millionaires can come from the UYL tree.
- 6:23Speaker 7: That's an interesting quote. I thought about that quote. Yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 7: because most people, how do we quantify it? Like some
- 6:28Speaker 7: people can look at the artists that they've signed and
- 6:32Speaker 7: how you know their careers have going. But how do
- 6:34Speaker 7: we reach how do you know the everyday person that
- 6:36Speaker 7: got information and now's become a millionaire.
- 6:38Speaker 8: For sure, I think y'all hit it from three sides
- 6:40Speaker 8: to one is the common listener, right, multiple sides. One
- 6:45Speaker 8: is the common listener, the information that you guys put
- 6:48Speaker 8: out right, they can take that information and you can't
- 6:51Speaker 8: quantify how many people made millions from that, right. The
- 6:54Speaker 8: second part is the people that have been on the
- 6:57Speaker 8: show being able to share with the audience that became
- 7:01Speaker 8: millionaires from their notoriety, from like you guys giving them
- 7:04Speaker 8: the platform. I think three is your your your circle
- 7:09Speaker 8: of and I would be one mentees, right, people that
- 7:13Speaker 8: you you've taught the game. Maybe they're not they weren't
- 7:16Speaker 8: on the show, or maybe they're not like the listener,
- 7:17Speaker 8: but people that you've taught the game to. And I
- 7:20Speaker 8: think for your whole team of people that your collaborations, partnerships. Right,
- 7:25Speaker 8: So it's going to be very difficult to quantify the success,
- 7:29Speaker 8: you know what I mean?
- 7:30Speaker 4: Like even on like.
- 7:31Speaker 8: Let's say like bad Boy, you can say okay, well,
- 7:33Speaker 8: once all became successful, married j all these people, but
- 7:37Speaker 8: the impact is different from what y'all doing, So figure
- 7:41Speaker 8: it's proper to spend a few minutes to appreciate y'a
- 7:45Speaker 8: don't get the credit, man, nobody And I was saying,
- 7:48Speaker 8: it a complex, that complex list.
- 7:52Speaker 4: It's so faulty because you can't. I know.
- 7:54Speaker 8: Your argument is like, well, it's for hip hop, but
- 7:56Speaker 8: who's more hip hop? Like who's interviewed more celebrities from
- 8:04Speaker 8: the hip hop culture and figured out how they became
- 8:07Speaker 8: a celebrity. Then y'all they go on radio runs on
- 8:12Speaker 8: their album that's coming out, their movie that's coming out,
- 8:14Speaker 8: But nobody's understanding and backing on how they became that right,
- 8:17Speaker 8: So y'all not be on the list. It is disrespectful.
- 8:20Speaker 8: Nobody on that list has made a person a dime.
- 8:23Speaker 8: Nobody on their list has put fourteen thousand people in
- 8:25Speaker 8: a stadium.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Just y'all.
- 8:28Speaker 5: We're talking about it. I can't argue with you. I
- 8:31Speaker 5: can't argue with you, man.
- 8:33Speaker 4: You got to point that.
- 8:37Speaker 6: I appreciate that man for sure, for sure, But you know,
- 8:40Speaker 6: people normal normalize greatness, and I think nineteen Keys has
- 8:43Speaker 6: spoken about that before. Was like sometimes when you see things,
- 8:47Speaker 6: it's it's hard to have an appreciation for it because
- 8:50Speaker 6: it just becomes normal, right Like when you accomplish amazing
- 8:55Speaker 6: things on a consistent That's that's the problem with consistency
- 8:59Speaker 6: is that it desensitizes us, right Like if a player
- 9:02Speaker 6: just drops forty points and you never heard of him
- 9:04Speaker 6: ever in his life, it's like, Yo, that's crazy. If
- 9:07Speaker 6: Lebron dropped forty points, it's just a regular day, Like
- 9:10Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying. So it's like we've normalized greatness.
- 9:15Speaker 6: And I think that that's something that is difficult because
- 9:19Speaker 6: it's like, yeah, to be able to accomplish a variety
- 9:22Speaker 6: of different things, whether it's going sell out to shows
- 9:25Speaker 6: in Toronto and Royal Labert Hall and London and fourteenth
- 9:28Speaker 6: thousand people that invest Fest and a variety of different
- 9:31Speaker 6: things that we've been able to accomplish. Even if you
- 9:33Speaker 6: look at EYO Network, I mean it really if you
- 9:36Speaker 6: look at it from an independent standpoint, like we have
- 9:40Speaker 6: more shows on the charts than CNBC or any like
- 9:43Speaker 6: major Like you know, when you look at market Mondays,
- 9:45Speaker 6: earn your Lisia high level conversations, just those three you'd
- 9:48Speaker 6: be hard pressed to find any podcast network, anybody across
- 9:54Speaker 6: any genre that has three shows that are that successful or.
- 9:59Speaker 7: Even just three shows, right, because a lot of them
- 10:01Speaker 7: just having network, they don't have any show.
- 10:03Speaker 6: I'm just saying that there are podcast networks, but I
- 10:06Speaker 6: don't know any podcast network that has that kind of roster. Yeah, So,
- 10:10Speaker 6: but you know, it is what it is. You know,
- 10:13Speaker 6: it's just you just keep keep the ball rolling and
- 10:15Speaker 6: keep going.
- 10:16Speaker 8: But the greatest isn't even normalized yet because you guys
- 10:18Speaker 8: are doing amazing things and it's just not enough people
- 10:22Speaker 8: talking about it, you know what I mean. When Lebron
- 10:25Speaker 8: goes out and drops forty, it becomes normal. But you're like, yo,
- 10:29Speaker 8: we know that this person is great, but y'all dropping
- 10:32Speaker 8: forty every week.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Nobody said anything like that.
- 10:35Speaker 7: I mean, it's based on what we're doing, right, Like
- 10:38Speaker 7: they're not expecting this.
- 10:39Speaker 4: This is This is built around business, it's.
- 10:42Speaker 7: Built around entrepreneurship, is built around finance and investing. It's
- 10:45Speaker 7: not built around athletics, it's not built around specifically music.
- 10:49Speaker 7: And so it's tough because it's not common nature in
- 10:52Speaker 7: our community, right, these conversations don't happen. So it's still
- 10:55Speaker 7: like almost like a foreign language. That's to penetrate in
- 10:57Speaker 7: the mainstream. But the more that people do about it,
- 11:00Speaker 7: and we had that conversation about showing up in these
- 11:02Speaker 7: places where all these people are that are doing those things,
- 11:04Speaker 7: it becomes like, wait, these guys are.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Here again, to hear again, to hear again, what's happening
- 11:09Speaker 4: right now? Right?
- 11:10Speaker 7: And so we're just trying to penetrate the masses with
- 11:12Speaker 7: the message and again, eventually it'll be commonplace, and that's
- 11:16Speaker 7: the goal.
- 11:17Speaker 8: I want to know when did you know you were
- 11:20Speaker 8: making an impact though? I mean, you know you're doing
- 11:23Speaker 8: it online, but at some point you said, well, we
- 11:26Speaker 8: want to put all these people in one room. When
- 11:28Speaker 8: did you know, Okay, it's time to just come out
- 11:32Speaker 8: of the living room and really listen, let's bring people together.
- 11:37Speaker 6: I think it was our first networking event in LA,
- 11:40Speaker 6: like after like episode fourteen, we was at LA, decided
- 11:44Speaker 6: to do a last minute networking event and really last minute,
- 11:48Speaker 6: like decided to do it on Friday.
- 11:50Speaker 5: And it was on a Monday.
- 11:52Speaker 6: Really yeah, And it was in Carson, California, which is
- 11:55Speaker 6: like out the way, hold on, hold on, what made
- 11:58Speaker 6: you think this is going to be successful? Well, Honestly,
- 12:01Speaker 6: that inspiration came from Matt. Matt was doing a network
- 12:04Speaker 6: He did a networking event in Atlanta. Randomly I saw
- 12:07Speaker 6: on Instagram. I'm like, well, that's dope. Are you doing
- 12:09Speaker 6: a networking event?
- 12:10Speaker 5: We should do one. We're in LA.
- 12:12Speaker 6: So it's like, just put it together and put it
- 12:15Speaker 6: on Instagram. A restaurant owner reached out to us and
- 12:18Speaker 6: let us use the spot. It was all like within
- 12:21Speaker 6: forty eight hours of putting it together, put a flyer
- 12:24Speaker 6: up on Instagram, create an event, right, and people came.
- 12:27Speaker 6: So it was like, you know, probably like one hundred
- 12:30Speaker 6: and fifty people that came, and people came from like
- 12:34Speaker 6: San Diego.
- 12:35Speaker 5: I e.
- 12:36Speaker 6: Like they was coming from like two different two hours away.
- 12:39Speaker 6: And it was on a Monday at like five o'clock,
- 12:41Speaker 6: like terrible traffic in LA. And that was like, you know,
- 12:45Speaker 6: impactful because the love was just there, like you know,
- 12:49Speaker 6: I mean you had all different type of people from
- 12:50Speaker 6: different walks of life. That was the first event that
- 12:53Speaker 6: we did where people actually met us in person and
- 12:56Speaker 6: was like you know, champion us and like I rock
- 12:59Speaker 6: with you.
- 13:00Speaker 5: Yeah. I had did Matt event before that.
- 13:02Speaker 6: Matt had a real estate event and this is where
- 13:05Speaker 6: we met a lot of different people, like so being
- 13:07Speaker 6: in miss business and stuff like that. But that was
- 13:11Speaker 6: like the first time since the show had started. That
- 13:13Speaker 6: was like around episode six, and there was people rocking
- 13:17Speaker 6: with it from then. So when I did that, people
- 13:19Speaker 6: was coming up to me like, y'all rock with your show.
- 13:22Speaker 6: I love your show. Da da da, And that was
- 13:23Speaker 6: like episode six. So a few weeks later we did
- 13:26Speaker 6: our own event and that was the first time where
- 13:29Speaker 6: we got to connect with people in person. And you know,
- 13:33Speaker 6: once you once you see that happen, it's like, all right,
- 13:35Speaker 6: we wanted something.
- 13:36Speaker 7: Yeah, it's interesting because it was like, let's maximize the time.
- 13:40Speaker 7: We were initially going out to la because we had
- 13:43Speaker 7: just confirmed Al Harrington and this was a big deal.
- 13:46Speaker 4: It was like, yo, we got Al Harrington. You know,
- 13:48Speaker 4: we grew up watching him play.
- 13:49Speaker 7: Sure he had a relationship with him or man him
- 13:51Speaker 7: earlier in his basketball career, and so it was like, oh,
- 13:54Speaker 7: this is gonna be great. We can talk about cannabis.
- 13:56Speaker 7: And the other thing was like, all right, well, if
- 13:58Speaker 7: we're gonna be out there, let's maximize the time. Let's
- 13:59Speaker 7: do that. Let's put it a networking event together. To
- 14:02Speaker 7: see if people show up. And I remember being at
- 14:04Speaker 7: the networking event and at the time I'm still teaching.
- 14:07Speaker 7: I'm like, yo, I got to catch this plane.
- 14:08Speaker 4: I can't.
- 14:08Speaker 7: I can't even I can't stay the whole time, right Like,
- 14:11Speaker 7: I'm still like, yo, this is this is great with
- 14:13Speaker 7: meeting people, but I can't stay. So I actually think
- 14:16Speaker 7: I left like an hour early to get back on
- 14:17Speaker 7: the plane to come to New York.
- 14:18Speaker 4: I was like, this is crazy. So that was a moment,
- 14:21Speaker 4: but I think after that it was like, yeah, we
- 14:23Speaker 4: got something.
- 14:23Speaker 7: But then when we did it in New York. We
- 14:25Speaker 7: did one in Brooklyn at BK nine and when we
- 14:28Speaker 7: pulled up, it was packed, like the restaurant was packed.
- 14:32Speaker 7: We were walking up. I had I had ad with
- 14:34Speaker 7: me and Zay Mike's niece had. We were doing another
- 14:37Speaker 7: we're doing our summer program. Said yo, come with me
- 14:39Speaker 7: to this event. And we're walking up and they looking
- 14:41Speaker 7: at me like this is Troy. It was just going
- 14:43Speaker 7: with him to Brooklyn and we're walking up and people
- 14:45Speaker 7: were like, yo, I just took the bus from Philly
- 14:48Speaker 7: to come see you.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Yo.
- 14:49Speaker 7: I live in Rhode Island. I came down here just
- 14:51Speaker 7: to see y'all and they looking at me like what
- 14:54Speaker 7: I'm like, Yo, this is crazy. This is turning into something.
- 14:56Speaker 7: And then when we what we saw inside of that
- 14:58Speaker 7: that that restaurant that night was pockets of information. And
- 15:03Speaker 7: so you know, we had somebody talking about stocks and
- 15:05Speaker 7: people were surrounding around in because they wanted to hit
- 15:07Speaker 7: the information. Derek Falcon, who had just did episode eleven,
- 15:11Speaker 7: was talking about you know, his episode, and we were
- 15:13Speaker 7: just watching this happen like, Yo, this is it. Like
- 15:16Speaker 7: everybody's just gravitating around the information they want to know,
- 15:20Speaker 7: and we packed out the spot in Brooklyn.
- 15:22Speaker 4: This is going to be crazy.
- 15:24Speaker 7: Like even in the intro for every episode, the clips
- 15:27Speaker 7: from that event are part of it.
- 15:29Speaker 4: You know what I mean? It was It was a
- 15:30Speaker 4: major thing for us. What made what made Are Your
- 15:34Speaker 4: Leaders so special? Though? You know what I mean.
- 15:36Speaker 8: I'm like episode six, yes on my episode eleven, episode fourteen,
- 15:39Speaker 8: and people are coming out and there are a lot
- 15:42Speaker 8: of people that maybe they're talented, but it's taking them sixty.
- 15:48Speaker 8: My joint ain't started rocking to like fifty what.
- 15:52Speaker 5: I think we had, so we had a head start.
- 15:53Speaker 5: We was doing social media.
- 15:54Speaker 6: I was doing social media for two years before we
- 15:56Speaker 6: had on Your Leisure, so we didn't we didn't just
- 15:59Speaker 6: start with zero. There was anticipation for early Leisia before.
- 16:02Speaker 6: That's the whole reason why we started on Your Legion,
- 16:04Speaker 6: because the anticipation had been building so much. Everybody was
- 16:07Speaker 6: dming like where's your show? Where do I watch it?
- 16:10Speaker 6: So it was like, all right, the demand was already there.
- 16:16Speaker 6: So it was like, you know, when we opened the gates,
- 16:19Speaker 6: we already had thousands of people that was willing to
- 16:22Speaker 6: just walk into the house as opposed to just trying
- 16:24Speaker 6: to build the house and then like market it like hey,
- 16:26Speaker 6: come over here. So that was definitely a part of it.
- 16:29Speaker 6: But also I think the packaging it was just a
- 16:31Speaker 6: good time. But the packaging was different as far as
- 16:36Speaker 6: mixing the sports and entertainment and pop culture and blending
- 16:41Speaker 6: it with business, you know, kind of adding all of
- 16:44Speaker 6: the elements from the slang, fashion, you know, different things
- 16:49Speaker 6: that we was doing as far as how we was
- 16:50Speaker 6: curating the stories, telling stories related to business, and that
- 16:54Speaker 6: was something that was like really just interesting. Social media
- 16:58Speaker 6: definitely played a big part because a lot of those
- 17:00Speaker 6: just going viral.
- 17:01Speaker 5: Early, Like early we did a.
- 17:02Speaker 6: Clip about like George Foreman and the George Forman Grill
- 17:06Speaker 6: and Hu Kogan that went viral. Soldier Boy, that was
- 17:11Speaker 6: like on episode one, so from the beginning, But like
- 17:14Speaker 6: I said, there was clips going virable for that. But
- 17:17Speaker 6: once we started, you know, it seemed like everything that
- 17:19Speaker 6: we would put out would just go viral on social media.
- 17:22Speaker 6: So it's one of those things people see on Explore
- 17:23Speaker 6: plays like what's this So they were just tapping in.
- 17:26Speaker 6: So fortunately for us, we never really had to try
- 17:28Speaker 6: to build the audience because the audience was already built.
- 17:32Speaker 6: Like that was the hard part trying to figure it
- 17:34Speaker 6: out two years prior was like how do you how
- 17:39Speaker 6: do you get people to engage with your content? How
- 17:41Speaker 6: it But that was already figured out by the time
- 17:43Speaker 6: we figured we already had a two year head start.
- 17:45Speaker 6: By the time Earnie Leisure came, it wasn't really trying
- 17:48Speaker 6: to figure out how to make a clip or how
- 17:52Speaker 6: to put a title on a video, or how to
- 17:54Speaker 6: make it engaging because it was already tried and tested
- 17:58Speaker 6: for twenty four months previously. So by the time or
- 18:01Speaker 6: Your Leisure came, it was already like a thing where
- 18:03Speaker 6: we know, like, all right, this is this is what's
- 18:05Speaker 6: going to hit. This is going to explode, and that's
- 18:08Speaker 6: exactly what happened.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I had anything to do with timing everything.
- 18:13Speaker 5: Time is everything.
- 18:14Speaker 7: Of course, a lot of it has to do with time.
- 18:16Speaker 7: And I always credit you know Dames twenty fifteen Breakfast
- 18:19Speaker 7: Club interview and how that impacted me and how it
- 18:22Speaker 7: felt when he was talking about being an entrepreneur and
- 18:25Speaker 7: talking about legacy and talking about that generational but sustainable wealth.
- 18:28Speaker 4: It was like, man, here I am, and it's not
- 18:31Speaker 4: like this seventy three.
- 18:32Speaker 8: It's not the first back and forth conversation that the
- 18:34Speaker 8: world had around entrepreneurship versus job.
- 18:37Speaker 6: And made our culture us. It is the most impactful.
- 18:40Speaker 6: I don't know if it was the first, but it
- 18:42Speaker 6: was the most impactful.
- 18:43Speaker 4: H It hit home.
- 18:44Speaker 7: It hit home like I'm a teacher and I'm watching
- 18:46Speaker 7: this and I'm watching him like he was an entrepreneur.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Mike was an entrepreneur, and I'm the teacher. I'm just like, yo, damn.
- 18:52Speaker 7: Like I remember my pops working for forty years, but
- 18:54Speaker 7: I knew that didn't guarantee me an interview at the
- 18:56Speaker 7: place he worked. I'm like, yo, damn, Like this school
- 18:58Speaker 7: was not even named after me. What am I given
- 19:00Speaker 7: to the next generation? It's like this is tough, right.
- 19:03Speaker 7: And then Jay came with in twenty seventeen with the
- 19:07Speaker 7: four four to four album and with huge I'm a
- 19:09Speaker 7: huge jay Z fan, and what he was talking about
- 19:11Speaker 7: was legacy, Like he had the song called Legacy, right,
- 19:14Speaker 7: and then he has the story of oj and like
- 19:15Speaker 7: everything around it was surrounding around financial literacy, and it
- 19:18Speaker 7: was like great at the time. Even prior to that,
- 19:21Speaker 7: like I was, we were writing lessons in the program,
- 19:23Speaker 7: but they were based around the lyrics that were in
- 19:26Speaker 7: hip hop, and so we're teaching through music, but we're
- 19:29Speaker 7: teaching financial.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Literacy through it.
- 19:30Speaker 7: So it was like all those things happened at the
- 19:33Speaker 7: same time. It was like perfect melting pop for this
- 19:35Speaker 7: to happen.
- 19:37Speaker 8: And I think you guys even started crossing over, like
- 19:42Speaker 8: really the first people to find celebrities artists and start
- 19:46Speaker 8: finding out the business behind the stuff that they were doing.
- 19:49Speaker 8: And I think some people might look at it like,
- 19:51Speaker 8: oh man, I missed the boat. Everyone's been interviewed already,
- 19:55Speaker 8: everyone's doing it. But you guys keep finding the perfect time,
- 20:00Speaker 8: like the perfect timing for exposing entrepreneurship from a celebrity standpoint,
- 20:06Speaker 8: bringing people together, right, Like, you guys keep finding the
- 20:10Speaker 8: right time.
- 20:10Speaker 7: I think it's even before it's a celebrity, it's your
- 20:12Speaker 7: next door neighbor. Your next door neighbor could be the millionaire,
- 20:16Speaker 7: and you'd have no idea if they never got to
- 20:18Speaker 7: tell their story.
- 20:19Speaker 4: We interviewed Derrick Ferguson, who's a close friend. He was a.
- 20:22Speaker 7: COO of Bad Boy CFO of Bad Boy for twenty years.
- 20:26Speaker 7: I went to church with this guy for ten years.
- 20:28Speaker 7: When we did his interview, he's like, this is the
- 20:29Speaker 7: first time somebody's asked me, actually asked me what I
- 20:32Speaker 7: did for a living.
- 20:33Speaker 4: He's been in this space for twenty years.
- 20:35Speaker 7: Right, He's seen from bad Boy to like he's seen
- 20:39Speaker 7: all these things revolt, he's been there.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Nobody's ever asked him. And it was like, wait, nobody's
- 20:43Speaker 4: ever asked me.
- 20:43Speaker 7: You got so much information because the chance of somebody
- 20:46Speaker 7: being you are highly likely. The chance of somebody being
- 20:47Speaker 7: puff is gonna be tough. Right, And so it was
- 20:50Speaker 7: like the real estate attorney or the real estate agent,
- 20:53Speaker 7: the tax professional. Right, all these people are entrepreneurs and
- 20:58Speaker 7: creating businesses that you act actually need, that you should
- 21:01Speaker 7: know about because there's a great chance that you could
- 21:04Speaker 7: actually do that and apply it into you everyday life.
- 21:06Speaker 7: Then it was like all right, once we built up
- 21:08Speaker 7: that clientele, was like, well, who's next, Right, can we
- 21:11Speaker 7: get the celebrity?
- 21:12Speaker 4: Right?
- 21:12Speaker 7: We always talk about this network across, right, because if
- 21:16Speaker 7: you network across long enough, like that person might introduce
- 21:18Speaker 7: you to the next person you're looking for. Right, So
- 21:20Speaker 7: you start at this level and then you build up
- 21:21Speaker 7: and build up, and then when you get the celebrity,
- 21:23Speaker 7: it's like, all right, well, let's pull back the layers because,
- 21:25Speaker 7: like you said, most people go on interviews because they
- 21:28Speaker 7: have someone to promote, but most times nobody asks them
- 21:30Speaker 7: anything about the business. Right, everybody's getting paid for their
- 21:33Speaker 7: profession or they're making money from it.
- 21:35Speaker 4: But how are you doing it?
- 21:36Speaker 7: Because that's the important part, Like we see people doing it,
- 21:38Speaker 7: they never told us how, and maybe because they didn't
- 21:41Speaker 7: know or they just didn't feel confident enough to talk
- 21:43Speaker 7: about it, But.
- 21:44Speaker 4: That's what this was like.
- 21:45Speaker 7: It felt like, all right, let's humanize this as much
- 21:48Speaker 7: as we can. Let's see how much information they will
- 21:50Speaker 7: in the ship. Because number one, it can help the
- 21:52Speaker 7: lessons that they learned, or number two, it can inspire
- 21:54Speaker 7: somebody to do something different.
- 21:55Speaker 4: For sure, I think you guys are creating the right timing.
- 21:58Speaker 8: It's like when y'all do something and then everybody starts
- 22:01Speaker 8: doing it and they said, well it was the right topic.
- 22:03Speaker 4: No I created this that shoddy line. Yoh they started reinvestment.
- 22:09Speaker 8: I know, yeah, the first investments. Four thousand people. It
- 22:16Speaker 8: has to be kind of nerve wracking because this is
- 22:18Speaker 8: one of the few things that you can't hide, the
- 22:22Speaker 8: success or failure.
- 22:24Speaker 4: Right, So if I drop a book, nobody knows howbody
- 22:27Speaker 4: i'se sold, you know what I mean.
- 22:28Speaker 8: Like if I drop a podcast, really nobody knows how
- 22:31Speaker 8: many downloads I got, right, But a live event is
- 22:35Speaker 8: the one thing you cannot hide if there's no one there.
- 22:38Speaker 8: I mean, you gotta put people to the front so
- 22:40Speaker 8: the camera looks good. But four thousand people, which is
- 22:44Speaker 8: absolutely incredible. Years ago, where did this thought come from?
- 22:50Speaker 8: And that was a lot so.
- 22:53Speaker 6: All right, so definitely gotta give a big shot to
- 22:56Speaker 6: him for a hundred and went to his event in
- 22:58Speaker 6: Miami and that was the first time that we saw
- 23:01Speaker 6: something like that, like the level of production and especially
- 23:05Speaker 6: for our culture, but probably just in general because I know,
- 23:08Speaker 6: for me personally, I didn't go to any like business
- 23:10Speaker 6: conferences like that. So we were inspired by that, Like, yo,
- 23:14Speaker 6: we got to do something like but how many people
- 23:17Speaker 6: were at that event? I think it was like two
- 23:19Speaker 6: thousandth uh you know it was just for his community
- 23:23Speaker 6: prosession proof. So but me, I'm very big on taking
- 23:29Speaker 6: inspiration but not copying. It's two different things. Like you
- 23:32Speaker 6: know what I mean, we all get inspired for everything.
- 23:33Speaker 6: I might but that's a dope hoodie, like I want
- 23:36Speaker 6: to rework it. I don't want to take your hoodie
- 23:38Speaker 6: and you know, just put our logo on it. That's copying,
- 23:40Speaker 6: but being inspired by something that's different. So I've been
- 23:43Speaker 6: inspired by everything from art, music, everything. So we were inspired,
- 23:48Speaker 6: but we didn't want to copy. So it was like,
- 23:50Speaker 6: all right, well, how do we make it different? How
- 23:53Speaker 6: do we do an event? But we need to do
- 23:55Speaker 6: an event. We got a lot of momentum, a lot
- 23:56Speaker 6: of people like us, like we want we want to
- 23:58Speaker 6: do an event because we did our first event at
- 24:01Speaker 6: Yes Spot actually, so we were doing events in the
- 24:04Speaker 6: pandemic shut it down. So it was like this would
- 24:06Speaker 6: be the first event after the pandemic, but we want
- 24:09Speaker 6: to rebrand it.
- 24:09Speaker 5: We don't want to do like the same thing that
- 24:11Speaker 5: we did.
- 24:11Speaker 6: Before the pandemic, which before the pandemic, the formula was
- 24:15Speaker 6: a two day event and it would be the first day,
- 24:17Speaker 6: like a Saturday, it would be a live podcast, and
- 24:20Speaker 6: then on Sunday it was an education seminar, right, and
- 24:24Speaker 6: that's what we did. We did it in DC, we
- 24:26Speaker 6: did it in Atlanta, and then we would bother to
- 24:28Speaker 6: do it in Philly, and then we had COVID came
- 24:30Speaker 6: and shut it down. So it was like, all right,
- 24:32Speaker 6: we got to do something. We gotta look to scale.
- 24:34Speaker 6: So understand words is very important. So festival, the idea
- 24:40Speaker 6: of festival. Might we need to have a festival and
- 24:46Speaker 6: you know path festival. A lot of times people were
- 24:50Speaker 6: look at festival like it has to be outside. But
- 24:53Speaker 6: I looked up the Dictionary's word and it never says
- 24:55Speaker 6: that the dictionary festival has to be outside.
- 24:58Speaker 5: It's just characteristics.
- 25:00Speaker 6: I could look at it and see, I'm not one
- 25:01Speaker 6: hundred percent sure, but it doesn't say outside. I think
- 25:05Speaker 6: that's just kind of been associated because a lot of
- 25:09Speaker 6: festivals are outside. So I think that that's just been
- 25:12Speaker 6: associated with it, right, So, but it didn't have to
- 25:17Speaker 6: be called it didn't have to be outside to be
- 25:19Speaker 6: a festival. So just thinking about it, it was like, all right, well,
- 25:25Speaker 6: it's difficult to do what we do outside for a
- 25:28Speaker 6: variety of different reasons if you take the elements of it,
- 25:30Speaker 6: might rain and stuff like that. But just to get
- 25:33Speaker 6: people's attention, like you got to actually be able to
- 25:35Speaker 6: sit down and learn for hours at a time, right,
- 25:39Speaker 6: and standing outside doesn't really lend itself to that. It's
- 25:43Speaker 6: good for music when you just halfway listening, halfway drunk,
- 25:47Speaker 6: like you know, that's not the most important thing, but
- 25:49Speaker 6: it's like when you actually are have to pay attention
- 25:54Speaker 6: to something, it's better in a closed setting. So it's
- 25:57Speaker 6: like that's kind of a hurdle. But what would also
- 26:02Speaker 6: add to a festival feel? When you start thinking about festivals,
- 26:05Speaker 6: it's like, what's the what are in festivals? So food trucks, right,
- 26:10Speaker 6: Like that's part of a festival feel. So I was like,
- 26:12Speaker 6: all right, well, what if we can add food trucks
- 26:14Speaker 6: to it and have like a culinary experience And then
- 26:18Speaker 6: it's like all right, ven the essence once again drawing
- 26:20Speaker 6: the inspiration and so what they did with their vendor
- 26:23Speaker 6: marketplace and like Essence Fest that's one of the biggest
- 26:26Speaker 6: festivals for our culture. So it was like, all right,
- 26:28Speaker 6: well at that time, nobody was doing vendor marketplaces for
- 26:32Speaker 6: the events and other people have like a vendor marketplace,
- 26:37Speaker 6: but it was just like their booths promoting their products,
- 26:40Speaker 6: which is fine, but nobody had done it where it
- 26:43Speaker 6: was like outside businesses could set up shop. So it's like, oh,
- 26:49Speaker 6: this is an opportunity to do that. Now you've got
- 26:52Speaker 6: two things. You got the vendor space, which is that's
- 26:54Speaker 6: a festival type of feel. You got food trucks that's
- 26:58Speaker 6: a festival type of feel. And then the stuff that
- 27:02Speaker 6: we were already currently doing with the live podcast, like
- 27:07Speaker 6: the you know, the panel discussions and stuff like that.
- 27:09Speaker 5: We were already familiar with that.
- 27:11Speaker 6: And then it's like, all right, well, entertainment is always
- 27:13Speaker 6: a big part of it, so now if we can
- 27:15Speaker 6: add an entertainment factor to it. So that's where the
- 27:18Speaker 6: musicians come in. So now it's like, now we have
- 27:21Speaker 6: a headline, a performer, or we have you know, for
- 27:23Speaker 6: a VIP night, we have a performer for that, right,
- 27:25Speaker 6: So now you add the music part of it, which
- 27:28Speaker 6: every festival pretty much has some level of music entertainment
- 27:31Speaker 6: part of it.
- 27:32Speaker 5: So and then it was like what do we call it?
- 27:37Speaker 6: And then you know, going back and forth with names
- 27:40Speaker 6: for a long time, and then invest Fest feel like
- 27:46Speaker 6: that you really can't come up with a better name
- 27:48Speaker 6: than that, right Like invest Fest. It's short, simple, conveys
- 27:53Speaker 6: the message, very easy to put on a shirt and
- 27:58Speaker 6: for people to remember it rhymes invest Fest and that's
- 28:04Speaker 6: and that's that's how it was done. That's that's that's
- 28:07Speaker 6: how that's that's kind of how it how it came
- 28:11Speaker 6: to trauition.
- 28:11Speaker 7: And it was never a thing of being feared, right like,
- 28:14Speaker 7: we never operate in fear. We operate and like all right,
- 28:17Speaker 7: let's see what we can do next. And so like
- 28:19Speaker 7: even the title of the name, it was about it
- 28:22Speaker 7: not being about us, right, So that alleviates any type
- 28:25Speaker 7: of fear because it really wasn't about us. You think
- 28:27Speaker 7: about we could have named it during the leisure Fest,
- 28:29Speaker 7: but we didn't. It was really about the people. Even
- 28:31Speaker 7: like from the marketplace standpoint, it was like, yeah, some
- 28:33Speaker 7: people had promoted themselves, but it was like, you know,
- 28:35Speaker 7: let's let the community be part of it. Because even
- 28:37Speaker 7: our episodes, right, we could have just stayed it just
- 28:39Speaker 7: being me and Shoty doing episodes. It was like, now,
- 28:42Speaker 7: let's figure out how many people can we can highlight
- 28:45Speaker 7: their greatness, and so all the episodes become like monumental
- 28:48Speaker 7: because it was highlighting greatness.
- 28:50Speaker 4: Right.
- 28:50Speaker 7: Even from a standpoint it was like, all right, well,
- 28:52Speaker 7: if it's not about us, we know what we're gonna do.
- 28:54Speaker 7: We do this every day we can. You know, we're
- 28:56Speaker 7: gonna find somebody to interview. But it was like, we
- 28:58Speaker 7: have a network, that's how at them, right, So if
- 29:01Speaker 7: Dave Sham's on network, lets them have a panel.
- 29:03Speaker 4: If MG's on it, you know what I'm saying.
- 29:04Speaker 7: So it was like highlighting everything that was going on
- 29:07Speaker 7: outside of just the people that they see and associate
- 29:10Speaker 7: with the brand. It was like, nah, this is a brand,
- 29:13Speaker 7: this is its own ip, and this is about the people.
- 29:15Speaker 7: So the marketplace becomes that, the food trucks become that,
- 29:18Speaker 7: the community that comes inside of it becomes that because
- 29:20Speaker 7: it's more than just a festival where people are gonna
- 29:24Speaker 7: come and gather and listen to people. It's like, nah,
- 29:26Speaker 7: this could be your next business partner you're sitting next to.
- 29:28Speaker 4: For sure that you could you could.
- 29:30Speaker 7: Find somebody here, your next person there investing in your business.
- 29:33Speaker 7: Whereas we didn't see that. We were inspired by other people,
- 29:35Speaker 7: but it was like, all right, this would be we
- 29:38Speaker 7: can improve on what this is because it's missing that,
- 29:40Speaker 7: you know what I mean.
- 29:41Speaker 6: But that's the most I think the most important thing
- 29:44Speaker 6: is the name? Is it in my opinion because like
- 29:48Speaker 6: I said, just that.
- 29:50Speaker 5: It breaks the mole of what There's a lot of conferences.
- 29:54Speaker 6: There's a lot of symposiums, conferences, different things of that nature.
- 29:58Speaker 6: You know, to my knowledge, no white has ever named
- 30:02Speaker 6: something that is business related a festival, So doing that
- 30:08Speaker 6: already send shockwaves through the system, you think.
- 30:12Speaker 8: So I was actually on a panel and I was
- 30:16Speaker 8: I was. I was making the point like that the
- 30:20Speaker 8: show or the product makes the name, Like people want
- 30:25Speaker 8: to think of a perfect name, but its like none
- 30:29Speaker 8: of us would have thought, yeah, we're gonna have all
- 30:32Speaker 8: these products in one place and we're gonna call it Walmart.
- 30:36Speaker 5: Well, I think I think they go ahead to hand.
- 30:38Speaker 6: So the name is extremely important because that's the first
- 30:42Speaker 6: thing people see, that's what gets them in the door.
- 30:45Speaker 6: But it's like if you walk in the house with
- 30:46Speaker 6: no furniture, nothing, you're not You're gonna walk right out right.
- 30:51Speaker 5: So it got it. Now once the house is fully.
- 30:54Speaker 6: Decorated and it's crazy art deco and art and all that,
- 30:58Speaker 6: now you're interested in staying.
- 31:00Speaker 7: Yeah, it's it's like when you hear rolling Loud before
- 31:02Speaker 7: you knew what it was, you knew, you knew what
- 31:05Speaker 7: the name, right, Like Coachella, we didn't know exactly what's happening,
- 31:08Speaker 7: but you knew the name.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Even like with Jay what he did with Made in America,
- 31:11Speaker 4: it was like, what's he doing with that? What is
- 31:13Speaker 4: this going to be true? Right?
- 31:14Speaker 8: So like one, I didn't know what earned your Leisure
- 31:18Speaker 8: meant for like a year, and I thought I already know.
- 31:19Speaker 4: I already knew you guys from bad Law, you know
- 31:21Speaker 4: what I mean? Like I don't know. I mean, is
- 31:27Speaker 4: it is it you come up with a name where
- 31:28Speaker 4: people get.
- 31:29Speaker 5: It or is I think?
- 31:31Speaker 6: I think for the investments, like I said, And this
- 31:33Speaker 6: is why, like I was really adam, Like in festival,
- 31:36Speaker 6: I thought was very important because the word festival, now
- 31:41Speaker 6: you got to live up to create a festival. You
- 31:44Speaker 6: just can't name it the festival. What happened in your backyard?
- 31:46Speaker 6: Like you know what I'm saying. So it's like, now
- 31:48Speaker 6: that that forces you to think outside the box and
- 31:51Speaker 6: to be original and to add different elements to it
- 31:54Speaker 6: as opposed to just having a seminar.
- 31:56Speaker 4: And it's not going to feel the same.
- 31:57Speaker 7: Right if you named the conference, you probably been to
- 32:00Speaker 7: a bunch of those, right when you hit festival, it's like,
- 32:03Speaker 7: what they're doing something different.
- 32:05Speaker 4: Automatically, they're doing something different. I need to change the
- 32:08Speaker 4: name myself. Not doing conferences and summits. We're gonna chase
- 32:13Speaker 4: the whole name, like I got a trademark too. Thanks.
- 32:19Speaker 4: Let me ask you this. Four thousand people first time? Right? Yes?
- 32:24Speaker 8: Did you know you were going to have four thousand
- 32:26Speaker 8: people before you did it? Or it just so happened
- 32:29Speaker 8: y'all have four thousand? Like what was the number?
- 32:30Speaker 6: When he's not When you do these type of events,
- 32:33Speaker 6: especially like where we do it at, like you have
- 32:36Speaker 6: to have seating for a certain amount of people, so
- 32:38Speaker 6: it's like seating chart. So it's like, all right, you
- 32:40Speaker 6: know you're seating for thirty one hundred and four thousand
- 32:42Speaker 6: whatever that is, and then you can as you get closer.
- 32:46Speaker 6: You're trying to see maybe we need to take some
- 32:48Speaker 6: seats away because we're not gonna hit this number.
- 32:50Speaker 5: But you can add, but it's kind of difficult to
- 32:52Speaker 5: change that.
- 32:52Speaker 6: So you you kind of go into it with a
- 32:54Speaker 6: set target, right of like what you want to hit
- 32:59Speaker 6: and try to accomplish that goal.
- 33:01Speaker 5: So that was a target around.
- 33:05Speaker 6: I don't know the exact number that we targeted, but
- 33:07Speaker 6: it was it wasn't just a random thing, like because
- 33:09Speaker 6: it's like you might if it's if you set the
- 33:12Speaker 6: room for a thousand people and then you tell them
- 33:14Speaker 6: we got four thousand, that it can't happen, like it
- 33:17Speaker 6: has to be set for the expectations that you're giving them,
- 33:21Speaker 6: Like you got to give the venue expectations like this
- 33:23Speaker 6: is how many people we gotta have, because then they
- 33:25Speaker 6: got to send the plans to the fire marshall. They
- 33:28Speaker 6: gotta they gotta, you know, bring the walls in and
- 33:31Speaker 6: put the chairs in and it's a horidy.
- 33:33Speaker 7: Of gag, but you got and remember, like if we
- 33:35Speaker 7: getting the number from to even look for a venue
- 33:37Speaker 7: that holds this amount of So it's the analytics, right,
- 33:40Speaker 7: It's the reason why when we look at it it's like,
- 33:42Speaker 7: we could do it in New York, that's our biggest audience,
- 33:44Speaker 7: but right it's during COVID, so the time, we couldn't
- 33:47Speaker 7: do anything any of it.
- 33:48Speaker 4: So it's like, well, what's the next biggest audience that
- 33:50Speaker 4: we have? All Atlanta?
- 33:51Speaker 7: Okay, bast So now we look at that and then
- 33:53Speaker 7: there's certain like restrictions that we couldn't do because it
- 33:57Speaker 7: was it was COVID at the time.
- 33:58Speaker 4: But it was like, all right, well we saw what
- 34:00Speaker 4: an event looked like.
- 34:01Speaker 7: When we went to Miami with him for one hundred
- 34:03Speaker 7: shot out to him again like all right, well they
- 34:06Speaker 7: can do that, and we hit I feel like our
- 34:08Speaker 7: audience has grown to a point I think we could maybe.
- 34:10Speaker 4: Let's try to double that.
- 34:11Speaker 7: So you got a baseline based on your analytics plus
- 34:14Speaker 7: your reach plus what you know can be done. It's
- 34:16Speaker 7: like you've seen in the past, like all right, this
- 34:18Speaker 7: feels like a number that I think is obtainable for
- 34:20Speaker 7: us to do.
- 34:20Speaker 6: But also it's the eye test, but it's also testing
- 34:25Speaker 6: the waters. So even when we were doing free networking
- 34:28Speaker 6: events like that kind of gives us an idea. So
- 34:31Speaker 6: like the London is a perfect example. Invest Fest Europe.
- 34:35Speaker 6: So we did invest Fest Europe in London last year
- 34:38Speaker 6: at Royal Albohol.
- 34:40Speaker 5: So Royal Albohol.
- 34:41Speaker 6: Is one of the most prestigious venues in the world
- 34:43Speaker 6: and it holds forty five hundred people. So you don't
- 34:48Speaker 6: just guess like you don't want to just nothe I'm
- 34:51Speaker 6: being honest, because people might be listening. They might be
- 34:53Speaker 6: like it's like, oh, I'm booking Madison Square Garden and
- 34:56Speaker 6: then it's like you know what I'm saying, like you
- 34:57Speaker 6: don't want to just book Crypto Arena and then it's
- 34:59Speaker 6: like one hundred people. So this is a science to it,
- 35:04Speaker 6: but it's not a set science. So it's a feeling
- 35:08Speaker 6: that you have. It is an eye test feeling. But
- 35:11Speaker 6: I think you also have to do other events to
- 35:13Speaker 6: work your way up to that. So before we did
- 35:15Speaker 6: the Royal autb Hall, we did a free event in London,
- 35:18Speaker 6: free networking event, and twenty five hundred people came to
- 35:22Speaker 6: a venue that whole three hundred and it was two
- 35:24Speaker 6: thousand people.
- 35:24Speaker 5: On the street.
- 35:26Speaker 6: So that that gave us a feeling that there was
- 35:31Speaker 6: a high demand in London and with enough time and
- 35:34Speaker 6: enough marketing, we felt confident that we could fill up
- 35:39Speaker 6: royal level.
- 35:39Speaker 5: It's never guaranteed. You don't know, three hundred people.
- 35:42Speaker 7: Yeah, it was crazy, but that's I mean even that
- 35:44Speaker 7: to that point, it was like, yeah, Atlanta, our first
- 35:47Speaker 7: event was in Atlanta. How many tickets did we sell?
- 35:49Speaker 7: All right, let's look at the ant links for that
- 35:50Speaker 7: we did a networking event. How many people showed up?
- 35:53Speaker 7: You mean, like we started to see these things and
- 35:55Speaker 7: it was like, this makes sense, we can we can
- 35:57Speaker 7: get this done here.
- 35:58Speaker 6: So the last event that we did, we was the
- 36:02Speaker 6: Atlanta event that we did at your spot.
- 36:03Speaker 5: We did like five hundred people, right, And that was
- 36:07Speaker 5: then we.
- 36:07Speaker 6: Took like eighteen months because of COVID took off, and
- 36:10Speaker 6: then we came back and we saw like him fine
- 36:12Speaker 6: and had almost two thousand people in his event. So
- 36:15Speaker 6: I was like, all right, well, if we did five
- 36:16Speaker 6: hundred almost two years ago, he has two thousand. You know,
- 36:21Speaker 6: we kind of know Atlanta's a very good.
- 36:24Speaker 5: Market for us.
- 36:25Speaker 6: So you start playing around the numbers in your head,
- 36:26Speaker 6: like you know, it's still like I said, it's still
- 36:28Speaker 6: not a set science because you don't know anything as possible.
- 36:31Speaker 6: For sure, people might not come, you know, what I'm saying,
- 36:34Speaker 6: it's always a risk when you're an event.
- 36:35Speaker 8: Did we ever have a feeling like did you ever
- 36:37Speaker 8: anybody ever feel especially like you lost it?
- 36:39Speaker 4: Yea, they did not don't come.
- 36:41Speaker 7: But again, this is like, this is twenty twenty one, right,
- 36:45Speaker 7: So like even I got COVID, Like even leading up
- 36:48Speaker 7: to it, I was sick, like it was a chance
- 36:50Speaker 7: that I might not even made it to the first
- 36:52Speaker 7: remember that. So it was like I didn't think that
- 36:54Speaker 7: people wouldn't come. I just didn't know if people felt
- 36:56Speaker 7: safe enough to come. There was little of that, you
- 36:59Speaker 7: know what I mean, because it was like we still
- 37:01Speaker 7: didn't know, Like there was still hot end the season
- 37:03Speaker 7: where it was like I'm not sure do I want
- 37:05Speaker 7: to risk my health or get this information. And so
- 37:07Speaker 7: if people had to put that in their mind, it
- 37:09Speaker 7: was like there's some doubt. But you know, we were
- 37:12Speaker 7: looking at it when were leading up to it, I'm
- 37:13Speaker 7: just like, nah, this is happening. And then it became like,
- 37:16Speaker 7: you know, Shoty was down here a week early. I
- 37:18Speaker 7: was out here, Mike was already out here. I was like,
- 37:20Speaker 7: there's no way I'm missing this. People look out by
- 37:23Speaker 7: missing this.
- 37:25Speaker 8: All right, So first of then four thousand people, amazing success.
- 37:30Speaker 4: What'd you do wrong? The first one?
- 37:33Speaker 6: I'm not just not necessarily sure we did anything wrong.
- 37:36Speaker 6: It was just a short amount of time. It was
- 37:39Speaker 6: like six weeks from started to finish as far as
- 37:42Speaker 6: so you know it's six weeks.
- 37:44Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm map this out right, So him five hundred.
- 37:48Speaker 7: This event was in April of that year, so like
- 37:51Speaker 7: you're doing the inspiration from there, right, You're like, oh, wait, okay,
- 37:54Speaker 7: we could do this. And I remember we had a conversation.
- 37:57Speaker 7: He was like, Yo, we're gonna do this, and I
- 37:59Speaker 7: think it probably was like May. He's like, I'm like,
- 38:01Speaker 7: let's do it. It was a group chat. I got an
- 38:04Speaker 7: idea that was like in in the May joint.
- 38:07Speaker 6: We didn't really formulize the plan to get and it
- 38:11Speaker 6: was it was like, guys, first.
- 38:13Speaker 4: We get we're going to do this or not, and
- 38:15Speaker 4: it was like, let's do this all we need to
- 38:16Speaker 4: do so.
- 38:17Speaker 6: But I mean, given the circumstances, I think we did
- 38:20Speaker 6: pretty good. So I don't necessarily look at it like
- 38:23Speaker 6: what we did wrong. It's just what what can you add?
- 38:26Speaker 6: Even this year, like every year, it's like look to see, Okay,
- 38:29Speaker 6: what could we add, what was missing? What could have
- 38:34Speaker 6: made it an even better experience? So that's kind of
- 38:37Speaker 6: what I think. It's a better way to kind of
- 38:39Speaker 6: frame it of like what's a better experience, a better
- 38:43Speaker 6: you know, user vibe as opposed to just kind of
- 38:46Speaker 6: keeping the same thing going.
- 38:47Speaker 7: There the yea, every detail right, Like you're looking at
- 38:50Speaker 7: everything from again analytics?
- 38:51Speaker 4: Right? Was was our ticket pricing? And correct? Was our
- 38:54Speaker 4: VP venue? Correct? Can we make it better? How? How
- 38:57Speaker 4: can we make it bigger?
- 38:57Speaker 7: How do we make the experience for you know, the
- 39:00Speaker 7: person was coming as great as possible? How we make
- 39:03Speaker 7: it as impactful as possible?
- 39:05Speaker 8: Hold that thought when you're thinking about okay, one is
- 39:10Speaker 8: okay the workshops, But like when you start curating a
- 39:15Speaker 8: feeling that you want people to have, do y'all consider that,
- 39:20Speaker 8: Like is that something that you're mapping on a white board?
- 39:22Speaker 4: I want people to like feel this when they leave.
- 39:25Speaker 6: Well, for me personally, it's not necessarily that it's creating
- 39:30Speaker 6: an experience, because you really can't control how somebody feels,
- 39:34Speaker 6: But it's like you can control the experience that they get.
- 39:37Speaker 6: And nine times out of ten, if you create an
- 39:40Speaker 6: experience that's unique that's the point of just creating a
- 39:44Speaker 6: unique experience. Then it's going to be a memorable moment.
- 39:48Speaker 6: I think that's the most important thing, like just creating
- 39:50Speaker 6: moments Like it's like creating memorable moments that people really
- 39:54Speaker 6: remember for a long period of times.
- 39:55Speaker 8: Playing a moment from the first of that a moment
- 39:57Speaker 8: like that, you would you know somebody was in the
- 40:00Speaker 8: They're like, whoa, I won't forget this.
- 40:02Speaker 6: It's a variety of different things that happened. But my
- 40:04Speaker 6: brother Kenny Burns his head. That was a dope panel.
- 40:07Speaker 6: Actually that was the I think that was a keynote panel.
- 40:10Speaker 5: For that year when we had him.
- 40:12Speaker 6: Jim Jones nineteen Keys Style was a very eclectic group
- 40:15Speaker 6: that was put together. But after that, Jim Jones did
- 40:19Speaker 6: something that was really dope where he walked the vendom
- 40:21Speaker 6: market He actually had a boof in the vendor market place.
- 40:23Speaker 6: He had a crypto ATM machine and he walked the
- 40:25Speaker 6: vendor marketplace. And that was the first celebrity that actually
- 40:31Speaker 6: did that. Steve Harvey did it the next year and
- 40:33Speaker 6: they went crazy. But that was that was a dope
- 40:36Speaker 6: moment because.
- 40:37Speaker 4: Asking for that or they just tried to do it
- 40:40Speaker 4: for which ones are you asking them?
- 40:43Speaker 6: Like, hey, no, Jim, Jim wanted to. Well, Jim had
- 40:45Speaker 6: an incentive to do it because he had a vendor.
- 40:47Speaker 6: He was a vendor, right, so it's like it was
- 40:50Speaker 6: in his best interest to try to create buzz around
- 40:53Speaker 6: his booth.
- 40:55Speaker 7: So Sah was just kind of he wanted to do it. Yeah,
- 40:59Speaker 7: that was just like he wanted to do it.
- 41:01Speaker 4: I know, I know that's your man's Now, let's not
- 41:04Speaker 4: ask hs. I don't want to call him Steve and
- 41:06Speaker 4: just be super and fun.
- 41:07Speaker 7: But yeah, he he he heard about it, he saw
- 41:11Speaker 7: the impact that it had, and he was like, I
- 41:12Speaker 7: want to do it.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Let's let's just go.
- 41:14Speaker 7: How it turned out was was was that was a
- 41:17Speaker 7: scene like you want to talk about moments that that
- 41:19Speaker 7: was a moment I think for the first one. That's crazy.
- 41:22Speaker 7: He didn't I thought he was mentioned that, but it was.
- 41:25Speaker 7: I watched him go out there and interview by himself.
- 41:26Speaker 4: For the first time. I was time. Yeah, thanks as leader.
- 41:33Speaker 4: I was too sick to get up there, right.
- 41:35Speaker 7: I was backstage popping pills and I'm watching I'm trying
- 41:37Speaker 7: to build up enough energy to go up there, and
- 41:39Speaker 7: we're sitting there and he's like you coming. I'm like
- 41:41Speaker 7: I can't. I physically couldn't get up there.
- 41:43Speaker 4: How'd you feel? Was it?
- 41:46Speaker 5: Yeah? That was cool?
- 41:47Speaker 4: It was cool. But the impact of that interview right,
- 41:49Speaker 4: it was him.
- 41:50Speaker 7: It was Ryan Leslie Harper and like most people know
- 41:55Speaker 7: Ryan Leslie from music, but now he's talking about how
- 41:58Speaker 7: he invested in Apple and it's like it's a whole
- 42:01Speaker 7: different feeling. I'm sitting back there like part of me
- 42:04Speaker 7: is like can I get up to get it? And
- 42:06Speaker 7: it was like, nah, let's just let him go.
- 42:08Speaker 4: Let's let him go.
- 42:08Speaker 7: This is great to watch, like it was that moment.
- 42:11Speaker 7: It was you know what I'm saying, So like these
- 42:13Speaker 7: type of things you remember, I'm just saying that was
- 42:15Speaker 7: just crazy, Like this is us. I'm watching us on
- 42:17Speaker 7: days like this is us, this is our thing.
- 42:20Speaker 8: So this is not natural. Year one, four thousand, Year two,
- 42:28Speaker 8: fourteen thousand.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, something happened.
- 42:32Speaker 5: Steve Harvey definitely. We can't can't remember the guy we
- 42:36Speaker 5: referenced before.
- 42:37Speaker 6: Can't take full credit for this because it's all about partnerships.
- 42:41Speaker 5: And when we met.
- 42:43Speaker 6: Steve Harvey, he said he wanted to do business with us,
- 42:45Speaker 6: so proposed like, well, this is an opportunity that you know,
- 42:48Speaker 6: maybe you can become a partner with us, and he
- 42:52Speaker 6: became a partner. So he did a few very pivotal things. A.
- 42:58Speaker 6: He came right so he's one of the biggest stars
- 43:01Speaker 6: in the world, so putting his name on the bill
- 43:03Speaker 6: was extremely helpful.
- 43:04Speaker 5: He also got us Tyler Perry epic. Now we don't
- 43:09Speaker 5: come outside. That changes the word, right, that changes That
- 43:13Speaker 5: changes things.
- 43:14Speaker 6: And we went on his show and I never forget,
- 43:17Speaker 6: like us, the impact of that. And I don't never
- 43:21Speaker 6: really listen to his morning show, so I didn't really know.
- 43:23Speaker 6: I didn't know how impactful his reach was. But it's
- 43:27Speaker 6: the number one syndicated morning show in America and it's
- 43:31Speaker 6: over I think they have like between six to ten
- 43:34Speaker 6: million weekly listeners. So he put us on this show.
- 43:40Speaker 6: He came up market Mondays also, which was beneficial. But
- 43:43Speaker 6: we went on his show, and after we went on
- 43:45Speaker 6: his show, it just never it took off and it
- 43:48Speaker 6: never came down.
- 43:49Speaker 7: No serious, it was that level of impact because you
- 43:53Speaker 7: got to remember, there's the audience that he's talking to, right,
- 43:55Speaker 7: Like we might not be listening, but my mom's listening
- 43:57Speaker 7: to that Every day. Sure, and he has a certain
- 44:00Speaker 7: region of the country that if he does something, they're
- 44:03Speaker 7: supporting it. And so the fact that he was not
- 44:05Speaker 7: only our partner, but he was speaking at the event,
- 44:08Speaker 7: it just added to it. Plus it just from an
- 44:11Speaker 7: other standpoint, it was like who else does he have
- 44:14Speaker 7: reach to? And so like that's how you get a
- 44:16Speaker 7: Dan Cathy, And that's how Dave Shan's has an e fic.
- 44:19Speaker 4: Conversation with Dan Kathy. You know what I'm saying.
- 44:21Speaker 7: So like all these people, like his network is a
- 44:23Speaker 7: lot larger than ours, but now that he's our partner,
- 44:26Speaker 7: we have access to his network.
- 44:27Speaker 4: Okay, back up a little bit. Yeah, I don't know
- 44:32Speaker 4: if it was.
- 44:33Speaker 8: Okay, we have four thousand people at one and now
- 44:35Speaker 8: Steve is like, hey, I want to be your partner,
- 44:38Speaker 8: Like how did that come about?
- 44:40Speaker 6: But when we met him, So we met him, we
- 44:41Speaker 6: did an interview with him, which dad came a classic conversation.
- 44:45Speaker 4: Get that.
- 44:47Speaker 7: So we were real close with the talent agent at
- 44:52Speaker 7: Black Effect. The cold spans shot out to her and
- 44:56Speaker 7: she's Jamaican. So we just had this thing, like I
- 44:58Speaker 7: call it once a week. We just talked just regular
- 45:00Speaker 7: things every now and then she was like, Yo, I
- 45:02Speaker 7: have this person that's interested there on the press room.
- 45:04Speaker 4: They want to do it.
- 45:05Speaker 7: And she called me one day in the summer and
- 45:07Speaker 7: she was like, Hey, I got this golf tournament I
- 45:10Speaker 7: want you to go to, but I can't tell anybody
- 45:12Speaker 7: at Black Effect yet.
- 45:13Speaker 4: I'm like, who is it? She was like, Seve Harvey.
- 45:16Speaker 7: I want you to go there and I want you
- 45:18Speaker 7: to do an interview with him, but you can't let
- 45:21Speaker 7: anybody know yet.
- 45:21Speaker 4: I'm like whatever, cold, like whatever. She's like, no, serious,
- 45:24Speaker 4: I'm serious about this. We're getting closer to it.

- 45:31Speaker 7: I didn't We didn't go to that golf tournament.

- 45:35Speaker 4: it didn't.
- 45:35Speaker 7: It didn't pan out. The schedules didn't pan out because
- 45:39Speaker 7: he wanted. His schedule was kind of crazy, like he
- 45:41Speaker 7: spends like two months out the year out there, and
- 45:44Speaker 7: we just it didn't work. But she was like, look,
- 45:45Speaker 7: next year, you'll definitely don't, but I'm gonna put you
- 45:47Speaker 7: in contact with his somebody from his team.
- 45:50Speaker 4: The name is Tabtie Stevens. I'm all right, cool.
- 45:53Speaker 7: Suppose to Tabdi and he was like, listen, we love y'all.
- 45:56Speaker 7: It's the first time I speaking to him. He's like,
- 45:58Speaker 7: we love y'all.

- 49:21Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 49:25Speaker 1: Donald J.

- 49:27Speaker 1: I'm Christy nom the United States Secretary of Homeland Security.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Under President Trump, attempted illegal border crossings are at the

- 50:05Speaker 4: When it happens, I'm like, I don't believe it's not
- 50:10Speaker 4: even when it happens, it happens.
- 50:12Speaker 5: I always I always like the curb, my enthusiastic.
- 50:18Speaker 4: So I'm like, this is no vemba. I'm like whatever,
- 50:21Speaker 4: top of the year I revisited. They're like, yo, you know,
- 50:24Speaker 4: first quarter, we're getting this done. January. It's his birthday. Month.
- 50:26Speaker 7: He travels a whole month of January. We can't do it.
- 50:28Speaker 7: Hit me at the top of February. I'm like, I
- 50:30Speaker 7: bet him at the top of February. Yo, we're good.
- 50:32Speaker 7: He's like, yeah, February seventeenth, for I remember the date.
- 50:35Speaker 7: I'm like, that works, let's do it. He's like, all right,
- 50:38Speaker 7: I'll send you all the information you need to know.
- 50:40Speaker 7: Y'all need cameras and anything. I'm like, now we're good.
- 50:42Speaker 7: He's like, seventeenth. Make sure y'all come game seventeen.
- 50:46Speaker 8: He snapped on that interview too, and y'all asked all
- 50:50Speaker 8: the right questions.
- 50:51Speaker 4: Y'all dropped forty It was no stop stop, like the
- 50:57Speaker 4: setups and like the.
- 50:58Speaker 6: I mean, you know, what do you you interest you people?
- 51:00Speaker 6: So you know it takes to to dance. You gotta
- 51:02Speaker 6: have a dancing partner and a lot of time.
- 51:04Speaker 5: People.
- 51:04Speaker 6: They you know, you could be the greatest interviewer in
- 51:07Speaker 6: the world, but if the person that you're interviewing isn't
- 51:10Speaker 6: into it, it's not gonna translate. Well, so it's like,
- 51:14Speaker 6: I think we did a great job of asking questions.
- 51:16Speaker 6: But he did a triman. He was fully engaged. He
- 51:19Speaker 6: wanted to do it. He was, you know, just everything
- 51:23Speaker 6: about it, from telling jokes to being vulnerable to giving
- 51:27Speaker 6: his life like he's yes, it's humbling that you say
- 51:32Speaker 6: that we did a great job, but it's extremely We
- 51:35Speaker 6: have to give him credit because it was like, you know,
- 51:38Speaker 6: he it was masterful. How he was answering the questions,
- 51:42Speaker 6: how he was you know, going in and out of
- 51:44Speaker 6: the topics, how he was ready, he had the bullet points,
- 51:47Speaker 6: even like the first question was like your five pillars
- 51:49Speaker 6: of success, and that took like fifteen minutes because like
- 51:52Speaker 6: he was literally went off every five pillar, Like there
- 51:54Speaker 6: was so many viral moments in that in that episode.
- 51:57Speaker 6: But he was in the right frame of mind and
- 52:00Speaker 6: he was willing to share information that he never shared before.
- 52:04Speaker 6: Very vulnerable in a lot of different spaces. So he
- 52:08Speaker 6: did a great job of relaying the information.
- 52:12Speaker 5: It was take these flowers takes.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Me, I'm gonna tell you, is not.
- 52:18Speaker 6: Like without putting it takes to to dance, not like
- 52:23Speaker 6: you gonna have you have a dancing partner.
- 52:25Speaker 5: So we did all part, but he did his part
- 52:26Speaker 5: as well.
- 52:27Speaker 7: When we left that interview, and I'm sure you probably
- 52:28Speaker 7: experience it sometimes you leave an interview and you're like.
- 52:31Speaker 4: We got one. We looked at each other right after
- 52:34Speaker 4: the interview and we were like, our lives are never
- 52:36Speaker 4: gonna be the same.
- 52:37Speaker 7: Really, Yeah, as soon as we walked out dragging the equipment,
- 52:40Speaker 7: we're like, Yo, our lives is never gonna be the same.
- 52:42Speaker 4: Where are you basing that off of the information?
- 52:44Speaker 7: Or we had a conversation prior, so before the interview,
- 52:47Speaker 7: we spoke for about maybe an hour and a half,
- 52:51Speaker 7: and then we did the interview, which is almost like
- 52:52Speaker 7: two hours, and then after the interview, we spoke for
- 52:55Speaker 7: another two hours, and based on the conversations we have
- 52:58Speaker 7: in the room, it was like this is the one,
- 53:01Speaker 7: but our lives is never going to be the same.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Because he's like, Yo, we're getting this done.
- 53:05Speaker 7: I'm now going to be your partner in this invest
- 53:06Speaker 7: festival and invest festival. Let's see how we can scale
- 53:09Speaker 7: this thing. We need to have as many people there
- 53:11Speaker 7: as possible. I want to have the most impact as possible.
- 53:13Speaker 4: So we knew that our lives wanted to be the same.
- 53:15Speaker 7: But then when we saw when the episode came out
- 53:18Speaker 7: and him telling us like after you know, you know,
- 53:21Speaker 7: a couple of weeks a few months after, he was like,
- 53:24Speaker 7: this was the most impactful interview that I've ever had
- 53:27Speaker 7: in my career in.
- 53:28Speaker 4: Thirty five years. So here's the interesting part, because what
- 53:33Speaker 4: you said is right, Like.
- 53:34Speaker 7: When he goes to do an interview, and he had
- 53:36Speaker 7: his own talk show, but when he goes to do
- 53:37Speaker 7: other people's interviews, it's the same thing. They want to
- 53:40Speaker 7: know what he's promoting, how his family's doing, and he.
- 53:44Speaker 4: Can't tell a joke really quick.
- 53:46Speaker 7: You never get to hear anything else about the business. Right,
- 53:48Speaker 7: he's building a business empire in front of our faces.
- 53:51Speaker 4: Nobody's asking the questions.
- 53:52Speaker 7: We see him on our television every night in syndicasional family.
- 53:56Speaker 7: Nobody's asking the questions. So we were able to do that. Yeah, definitely.
- 54:00Speaker 7: He was willing to dance with us and he enjoyed
- 54:02Speaker 7: having us there, which made it a lot easier.
- 54:04Speaker 4: But it was like both sides like we knew it
- 54:05Speaker 4: was going to change our.
- 54:06Speaker 7: Lives, and for him it was like, thank you for
- 54:08Speaker 7: this opportunity, but I mean, we were gracious to have it.
- 54:11Speaker 8: Give me your give me your perspective from our lives
- 54:14Speaker 8: will never be the same.
- 54:15Speaker 6: No, So he didn't commit to invest fest At that time,
- 54:18Speaker 6: he just said that he wanted to work with us.
- 54:20Speaker 5: We proposed to invest Fest. I did it to beat
- 54:24Speaker 5: a little bit after that.
- 54:26Speaker 6: But you know, just when you when you go to
- 54:29Speaker 6: his house, it's not a regular house, so it's it's
- 54:33Speaker 6: in a state like they actually they take your I D
- 54:36Speaker 6: like you gotta sign an NBA. Really like there's security
- 54:40Speaker 6: on the grounds, like you know, it's like you're going somewhere,
- 54:44Speaker 6: and that's a that's the first his home.
- 54:46Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeh take out.
- 54:47Speaker 6: That was the first time that I ever went to
- 54:48Speaker 6: a house like that. I never I personally, I never
- 54:51Speaker 6: went to a house where I had to sign an
- 54:52Speaker 6: NDA and there was a guard at the gate with
- 54:55Speaker 6: the dog and all of that, and walkie talkies and
- 54:57Speaker 6: all that and tennis courts and all of that type
- 54:59Speaker 6: of up. So he really, you know, that was an
- 55:02Speaker 6: experience within itself just to actually go there.
- 55:05Speaker 5: And like you said, the conversation that we had was.
- 55:09Speaker 6: Almost five hours when you add up before the interview
- 55:13Speaker 6: in the after and you know, obviously you know, he's
- 55:16Speaker 6: a kingmaker, like he has a lot of influence. So
- 55:20Speaker 6: when he took a liking to us, and he was
- 55:22Speaker 6: saying like he wanted to do stuff with us, like
- 55:24Speaker 6: he wants to do this, he wants to do that.
- 55:25Speaker 5: So I was like, all right, this is.
- 55:26Speaker 6: Going to put us in a in a different stratosphere.
- 55:30Speaker 5: And that's what he did.
- 55:31Speaker 6: You know, you look at it and from investment standpoint,
- 55:33Speaker 6: but even told my this year has invest Fest with
- 55:35Speaker 6: Robert Smith, like that comes to him. He's the first
- 55:38Speaker 6: person that introduced us to Robert Smith in person. So
- 55:42Speaker 6: that was you know, he's he made the introduction for
- 55:45Speaker 6: Tyler Perry, like you know, it took us. We was
- 55:47Speaker 6: in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for his golf tournament, you know,
- 55:51Speaker 6: Formula one race in Abu Dhabi, different things of that nature.
- 55:53Speaker 6: So he's been a he's been a good dude. But
- 55:57Speaker 6: just you know, you kind of have it. If you
- 55:58Speaker 6: meet Jay Z and you know you just have a handshake,
- 56:03Speaker 6: it's like, all right, that's cool. But then if you
- 56:05Speaker 6: meet Jay and he tells you I want to do
- 56:07Speaker 6: business with you, it's different. You know what I'm saying,
- 56:10Speaker 6: Like your life is going to change.
- 56:12Speaker 8: How did you pick invest Fast as the thing we
- 56:15Speaker 8: partner on. I mean, it's a bunch of y'all could
- 56:16Speaker 8: have created.
- 56:17Speaker 6: So it was coming up and just felt like that
- 56:20Speaker 6: would be a perfect situation.
- 56:23Speaker 4: You know. Okay, I'm sorry.
- 56:25Speaker 8: So you planned, you had a year two invest fast
- 56:29Speaker 8: planned already, were you promoting and marketing already.
- 56:32Speaker 5: We're putting it together.
- 56:33Speaker 8: You're putting it together. So when y'all putting it together,
- 56:36Speaker 8: you weren't thinking fourteen thousand.
- 56:39Speaker 6: Not additionally, I think it might have been ten thousand.
- 56:43Speaker 5: You know.
- 56:44Speaker 7: One of the things like and to Be was saying
- 56:46Speaker 7: is because you know that Stage had award show that
- 56:48Speaker 7: he used to do at State Farm.
- 56:51Speaker 4: That's him. If I can call him Estage want to
- 56:52Speaker 4: see him too. That's why y'all got mister Harvey. Presserably
- 56:57Speaker 4: mister Harvey.
- 56:58Speaker 7: He was like, we were telling them like what we
- 56:59Speaker 7: were to think, and he was like, man, y'all should
- 57:01Speaker 7: do twenty thousand.
- 57:02Speaker 4: I should just stay far him. I'm like, yeah, we
- 57:04Speaker 4: gotta growth to that, Like.
- 57:06Speaker 7: We got to figure out how we're going to do
- 57:08Speaker 7: It's like, now, y'all definitely could do it. We already
- 57:10Speaker 7: have connections, we have all the relationships. We used to
- 57:12Speaker 7: do our own a war show for entrepreneurs and it
- 57:16Speaker 7: was like a comedy thing. They were telling us the
- 57:17Speaker 7: bootprint on how they were doing it. They're like, Yo, yeah,
- 57:20Speaker 7: y'all could get this done. Y'all definitely can get this done.
- 57:22Speaker 7: It was like, all right, well, let's figure out how
- 57:24Speaker 7: we can get it done. So it wasn't like a number.
- 57:26Speaker 4: But it was like kind of idea, like all right,
- 57:28Speaker 4: well they got a firm belief and they got relationships,
- 57:30Speaker 4: how do we make this work. I think something lends
- 57:33Speaker 4: to that too, somebody.
- 57:34Speaker 8: Who just has a a bigger view, Like they're just
- 57:39Speaker 8: bigger thinkers, right, Like, I mean I watched you all
- 57:42Speaker 8: and like, you guys give me the belief that could
- 57:46Speaker 8: do something that I wouldn't even thought of, right, Like,
- 57:49Speaker 8: so I always asked, like, yo, what's your downloads?
- 57:52Speaker 4: And I think one time he was like two million.
- 57:53Speaker 4: I was like, oh my gosh, two million on a
- 57:55Speaker 4: mom I could do it, you know what I mean.
- 57:58Speaker 8: And then like as you as you start connecting with
- 58:01Speaker 8: people who have a bigger vision, You're like, oh, no doubt,
- 58:04Speaker 8: I can do that. So now I'm starting to understand
- 58:07Speaker 8: this whole twenty twenty three, twenty thousand number.
- 58:11Speaker 4: It just makes sense at this point, see see it?
- 58:13Speaker 7: But then like even for that, Like we've had those
- 58:15Speaker 7: conversations was like how many downloads?
- 58:17Speaker 4: What it analytics?
- 58:18Speaker 7: But then I'm gonna show you how you get to that.
- 58:21Speaker 7: That's the biggest difference because I can just tell you
- 58:23Speaker 7: we're doing ten million. Wow, how's he doing that? And
- 58:26Speaker 7: I like, Yo, here's how you do it? How many
- 58:29Speaker 7: episodes you have? You got a back catalog?
- 58:31Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 58:31Speaker 7: Like we just have these conversations like, oh, when I
- 58:34Speaker 7: look at it like that, that seems very attainable. So
- 58:36Speaker 7: like when they start breaking down like how you can
- 58:38Speaker 7: get it done and who you can get and who's
- 58:41Speaker 7: what corporate relationships you can have that could be involved,
- 58:43Speaker 7: and like yo, my publicist works with that person and.
- 58:45Speaker 4: We can get hit. It's like, oh yeah, get makes
- 58:47Speaker 4: that number.
- 58:48Speaker 8: And I think, okay, we got mister Harvey on. A
- 58:52Speaker 8: lot of it almost slipped, almost set we all miss
- 58:55Speaker 8: harvey On. But even still to get that many people,
- 59:00Speaker 8: there's still some work to be done. So I want
- 59:02Speaker 8: to know, like all the work that goes into providing
- 59:05Speaker 8: this experience.
- 59:06Speaker 5: For people, Well, it's a lot of work.
- 59:09Speaker 6: And the key I think in any type of especially
- 59:13Speaker 6: when you work with somebody like that you don't want
- 59:16Speaker 6: to abuse it because it's like people is busy. So
- 59:19Speaker 6: for us, it's like it's like riding the bike, right
- 59:23Speaker 6: if you have a kid like you, you push, you
- 59:25Speaker 6: push somebody on the bike and it's up to you
- 59:28Speaker 6: the pedal. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. So he
- 59:30Speaker 6: gave us a push, but it's up to us to
- 59:31Speaker 6: pedal for sure. We can't, you know, expect him to
- 59:34Speaker 6: do all of the leg work. So the leg work
- 59:38Speaker 6: part of it is what all of us had to do,
- 59:41Speaker 6: from Mike, myself, Troy, Matt Abdullah, Ashley our event planner,
- 59:49Speaker 6: his wife, Danielle, every you know, everybody on our team.
- 59:54Speaker 5: Burke making the flyers for us North thirteenth and.
- 59:58Speaker 6: Create making the videos for us.
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: Well, what is it? What it looks like for you?
- 1:00:04Speaker 8: You know, you're gearing up for for something massive.
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: It's like a fight, like you got to you know
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: what I'm like, you know, get in fight mode like
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: a fighter. You know, he trained for six weeks before
- 1:00:15Speaker 6: you go into day in camp, so it's like all right,
- 1:00:17Speaker 6: you know, lockdown. So for us, like you know, press,
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: doing press, that's that's a big part of it, you know,
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: flying all over doing different interviews, like having this conversation,
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: like that's part of it doing zoom calls. The good
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: thing is that we have a lot of great relationships,
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: so booking the talent. Here's the blueprint of how you
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: do these type of events, right, So A you have
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: to find a venue. Right, you find a venue and
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: then you put the deposit down. You secured the venue, right,
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: you have to work with an event planner that actually
- 1:00:49Speaker 6: can make this come to fruition as well.
- 1:00:51Speaker 8: Hold that point real quick. What did y'all spend last year?
- 1:00:54Speaker 8: I've been dying to ask you what did it cost
- 1:00:56Speaker 8: you to.
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: Put on It probably costs like a million. Probably these guys.
- 1:01:00Speaker 8: Are putting a million dollars down to make sure you
- 1:01:02Speaker 8: have a great, great experience.
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: One point three but counting extra three.
- 1:01:07Speaker 8: Hundred thousand, one point three million to provide an experience
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: this and and I think it's important that people come
- 1:01:15Speaker 8: to see what excellence looks like.
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: Okay, so fine, event planner.
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: But let me give you some game on that too,
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: because I don't want to discourage people. It did cost
- 1:01:22Speaker 6: discourage It did cost over a million dollars. But that's
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: why it's important to get your payment processing platform. That's
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: important whoever you pick, because it was like, you know,
- 1:01:34Speaker 6: the payment processing platform that.
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: We used at that time, if you're not using them.
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: Now, but they paid us daily, so as we get paid,
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: then now we can pay for stuff as well, so
- 1:01:45Speaker 6: you got working capital. So it's like if you don't
- 1:01:48Speaker 6: have a million dollars in a bank, or if you
- 1:01:49Speaker 6: don't have a loan, then you know, to be able
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: to receive funds on a daily basis is beneficial because
- 1:01:58Speaker 6: as you as the money comes in, now you can
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: write checks and the money's going out at the same time.
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: So that's important to know from a financial aspect if
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: you're thinking about doing these type of events where from
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: the venue, the event planner, you have to curate the event,
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: you have to get the people. So that like I said,
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: luckily for us, we don't we even now to this day,
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: we don't go through like talent agencies and it's not
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: corporate like this, personal people that we know, even Diddy.
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: I can tell that story if you're interested, But that's
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: a personal relationship that we developed and I hit them personally.
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: I didn't go through you know UTA and shout out
- 1:02:39Speaker 6: to them, but we didn't go through those channels, like
- 1:02:41Speaker 6: every single person, like we got personal relationships, and the
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: people change every year as well. So people that was
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: on last year is not on this year. People that's
- 1:02:48Speaker 6: on the first year, like, so it's different people. So
- 1:02:50Speaker 6: we constantly meet new people and we constantly developed new relationships.
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: So first it's like.
- 1:02:54Speaker 7: Let's something really quickly that's important. You know, the best
- 1:02:57Speaker 7: way to build a relationship.
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: That interview the.
- 1:03:01Speaker 7: Right because now you've given them a platform, their audience
- 1:03:05Speaker 7: has seen it, and it's exposed them to a new audience.
- 1:03:08Speaker 7: And so a lot of times if you look at
- 1:03:10Speaker 7: the people that's on the list, they've had some fut
- 1:03:12Speaker 7: of contact with the network, either it's on our show,
- 1:03:14Speaker 7: they came on market mondays or branch and gyms, or
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: they on high level. At some point they had a
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: relationship with the network where they would be an interview.
- 1:03:21Speaker 7: And so now you have a relationship. And so now
- 1:03:23Speaker 7: that ask is a lot easier, right because yeah, we
- 1:03:26Speaker 7: have the platform and we shared you with the world, right,
- 1:03:28Speaker 7: your greatness, but like, hey, are you interested in and
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: talking to the ins again makes it the easy ask.
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: Yeah, so you put together the blueprint of what you want.
- 1:03:38Speaker 6: We want a real estate panel. We want a stock panel,
- 1:03:40Speaker 6: we want a keynote speaker, we want to panel on
- 1:03:44Speaker 6: you know, content creation, and then you just fill it
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: in like who.
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: Do I know? And teaching on podcasting for sure, that's
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: a fact, you guys.
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: This year had Dave with the three audience.
- 1:03:55Speaker 6: So yeah, so you just just feeling filling the pieces.
- 1:03:58Speaker 6: It's like, Okay, this this person will be for real estate,
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: this person would be good for content creation. And like
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: I said, fortunately for us, we know a lot of people,
- 1:04:06Speaker 6: so it's just personal phone calls, text messages and most people,
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: like people don't really say no to us for the
- 1:04:11Speaker 6: most part. They might have a scheduling conflict, they might
- 1:04:14Speaker 6: not be able to make it, but for the most part,
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: that's that's the easy part. Hard part is like getting
- 1:04:19Speaker 6: like the big names, like you know, but that wasn't
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: really difficult this year.
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: We was able.
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: Fortunately, we was able to get some big names early
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: and like that in early music is the hard part.
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: We can talk about that. Get interested, that's the hardest part.
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: Musicians is the hardest part because they they they come
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: with the most baggage. It's real, it's real, it's real.
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: That's a fact. The most baggage nine times out of ten.
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: You you can't go through them directly like a lot
- 1:04:58Speaker 6: of people.
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: We could just go through DIREC like I need you here,
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: all right. THEMN you gotta talk to their manager and
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: then their manager's manager and then.
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: They it's like their riders and they don't know their schedule.
- 1:05:10Speaker 6: They might be on tour, they might not be on
- 1:05:12Speaker 6: like just give me an answer. They put you in
- 1:05:14Speaker 6: limbo for weeks at a time right now. So the music,
- 1:05:17Speaker 6: that's that's forches man. I mean some musicians like shout
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: out to Ross, He's that's easy.
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying. That good dude.
- 1:05:29Speaker 6: So it's not it's not every musician that is bad
- 1:05:32Speaker 6: like that, but a lot of them, a lot of them.
- 1:05:37Speaker 7: Many unless so like Ross makes it easier because we've
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: sat down on him before, we interviewed him at him
- 1:05:42Speaker 7: find his event. We did it on as a liabilities
- 1:05:46Speaker 7: so there's a related he knows who we are, right,
- 1:05:48Speaker 7: same thing with Tip.
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: We called Tip. It's going to be an easier call
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: because nah, wait, just wait on it.
- 1:05:57Speaker 8: Because when I saw Jiz's name, I was like, yeah,
- 1:05:59Speaker 8: I was thinking of all my favorite songs and I
- 1:06:01Speaker 8: don't ever think I've seen him in concert, so this
- 1:06:04Speaker 8: is really giving me a chance to like see people.
- 1:06:07Speaker 8: That was my first time actually investments watching Rick Roll
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: perform and he's right in front of me, said and
- 1:06:14Speaker 8: was going.
- 1:06:14Speaker 7: To say, it's the first time you get to see
- 1:06:16Speaker 7: me perfore. But that was the Hello performance.
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: That was crazy.
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: I mean like kiss Kiss. He did a great performance
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: for us at MSG Relationships.
- 1:06:28Speaker 6: So it is beneficial to book artists that are familiar
- 1:06:31Speaker 6: with us, and that makes it easier, like we did
- 1:06:34Speaker 6: Jim and at the Apollo.
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: That's easy.
- 1:06:36Speaker 6: But yeah, you know these artists, man, they got a lot,
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: They got a lot, man.
- 1:06:41Speaker 5: But you know what's so crazy? You know, it's so crazy.
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: So we booked several different billionaires, right and from Dan
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: Cathy to Don pee Wos to Tyler Perry to Robert
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: Smith to Diddy as well.
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: Like novagrats.
- 1:06:59Speaker 6: You know what's so crazy, especially from the well did
- 1:07:02Speaker 6: He hasn't sent the rider yet either, but we've never
- 1:07:04Speaker 6: received a rider.
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: From a billionaire mm hmmm.
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:07:08Speaker 6: One Tyler Perry's rider was it was he won haircut
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: and a simple as animal minimal. We never received any
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: demands or crazy request from billionaires, you.
- 1:07:26Speaker 8: Know, Dan Cathy, I'm talking about owner A. He's walking
- 1:07:31Speaker 8: around but by himself. What what what a name tag
- 1:07:36Speaker 8: on the czy. But the crazy thing about it is
- 1:07:39Speaker 8: this is I don't know where this rider thing came from.
- 1:07:43Speaker 8: Maybe that's a that's a music. But I'm just saying
- 1:07:45Speaker 8: it's like some things we just don't question. Because I
- 1:07:47Speaker 8: just thought about that today.
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: I'm like, we booked a bunch of people in business, entrepreneurs.
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: Athletes, whatever.
- 1:07:58Speaker 6: Why does why do musicusicians only have riders?
- 1:08:01Speaker 7: I think the origin comes from it's from music, but
- 1:08:05Speaker 7: it's what they would like to feel comfortable.
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: When they get to a venue, which is I get it.
- 1:08:09Speaker 7: But some of the things is like yo, twenty Bollus Champion,
- 1:08:12Speaker 7: I'm not sure that's gonna make you feel comfortable if
- 1:08:13Speaker 7: you're gonna be there for fifteen minutes, you know what
- 1:08:15Speaker 7: I'm saying. So like some of the things, it's just
- 1:08:18Speaker 7: like but.
- 1:08:19Speaker 6: The problem is that they get caddled to and so
- 1:08:21Speaker 6: a lot of a lot of them don't. They don't
- 1:08:23Speaker 6: they're not handling their own business. So it's like, because
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: like let's really just let's have a two minute conversation
- 1:08:29Speaker 6: about this because I just thought about this today. Why
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: why is a rider needed if nobody else has a rider?
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: Right? What do you ever think about that nobody else
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: has a rider?
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: Right? Like if Don Peeble doesn't have a ride. You
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: come to a venue, you're going to be in the
- 1:08:46Speaker 6: green room. You can expect that there's gonna be food
- 1:08:48Speaker 6: there for you. There's gonna be water, there's gonna be juice,
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: there's gonna beverage. If you have a special request that
- 1:08:53Speaker 6: you might have, you might want, you know, a allowed mail,
- 1:08:56Speaker 6: then we can accommodate that.
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:08:58Speaker 6: But I'm just curious to know why musicians are the
- 1:09:03Speaker 6: only people that have riders. And the riders are alcohol
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: at a tremendous amount of alcohol that.
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: You can't consume. So it's like if you have ten
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: bottles of champagne.
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: And it's ridiculous, Like who normalize this?
- 1:09:23Speaker 6: And I realized that it's from the nightclub. Most of
- 1:09:25Speaker 6: them these comes from nightclubs, right where they just go
- 1:09:28Speaker 6: to nightclub. And it's like, but it's we got to
- 1:09:30Speaker 6: really start to think about this. Why are we providing
- 1:09:34Speaker 6: If we're paying you for a service, then you should
- 1:09:37Speaker 6: just be paid for a service. You shouldn't be paid
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: for a service and have fifteen botles of tequila at
- 1:09:43Speaker 6: five o'clock.
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: In the afternoon.
- 1:09:46Speaker 6: If you want to buy tequila, then you buy tequila.
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: Let's check, I'm giving your organic flavored, and then you
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: want your money in cash.
- 1:09:56Speaker 6: There's a variety of different things that make this a
- 1:09:59Speaker 6: lot more difficul dealing with musicians, which I understand why,
- 1:10:03Speaker 6: Like concert promoters they got a hard job because now
- 1:10:05Speaker 6: you got to deal with one hundred Like you say,
- 1:10:08Speaker 6: Rolling Loud, they got to deal with one hundred.
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: Artistsol one hundred riders.
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: Imagine that.
- 1:10:12Speaker 7: And if you got a hundred of them, now you
- 1:10:16Speaker 7: got to worry about the punctuality of it. But that's
- 1:10:19Speaker 7: another thing, right, because the thing is like, now, yeah,
- 1:10:21Speaker 7: I booked you and you're supposed to be but now
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: I need you to be here on tom.
- 1:10:23Speaker 5: They never come on Tom.
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: And if you're not on.
- 1:10:25Speaker 7: Time, there's this audience of twelve thousand people got away
- 1:10:29Speaker 7: for you to be there for twenty thousands, you know
- 1:10:31Speaker 7: what I'm saying.
- 1:10:31Speaker 6: So it's like it's just it's it's I'm concerned because
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: it's like this has become normalized and it's just past.
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: It's normal. It's normal for a rappers.
- 1:10:39Speaker 6: You gotta tell a rapper to come two hours early
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: because you know he's gonna come at least an hour
- 1:10:43Speaker 6: and a half late.
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: But nobody ever questions that. Nobody else does that.
- 1:10:48Speaker 8: I like the fact that you guys are like even
- 1:10:50Speaker 8: right now, educating on it and really challenging the system,
- 1:10:53Speaker 8: because I think as you're talking about it, I'm.
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: Like, yo, this is real.
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: And maybe you had to put extra time on your thing.
- 1:11:00Speaker 7: Remember we kept running your time, but you had to
- 1:11:01Speaker 7: put me time. You thought you was stripping out, And
- 1:11:04Speaker 7: I'm like, yo, Dave, we just I was like, y'ah,
- 1:11:06Speaker 7: I know. I saw that clock. It said five minutes,
- 1:11:08Speaker 7: did the jump in fifteen and then it got down
- 1:11:09Speaker 7: to seven and we put it back to twelve.
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: And you're like, that was we just want some time shot.
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: Shout out the fab good dude. He's actually a great dude.
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: But it is what it is. He's three hours late
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: on five o'clock on a Sunday, so we're wait, we're stalling. Literally,
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: when he got there, we put the microphone, gave him
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: the money, they.
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: Counted it, he cash.
- 1:11:33Speaker 6: He walked on stage and performed like cash Kid Cash,
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: so we cash.
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: We literally like were going back and forth.
- 1:11:41Speaker 6: With like where you're at, where you're at, da da dada,
- 1:11:44Speaker 6: Like they're like five minutes away, half an hour later,
- 1:11:46Speaker 6: five minutes away, half an hour of five minutes away.
- 1:11:49Speaker 5: Was on stage.
- 1:11:49Speaker 7: They spent thirty minutes they said, we were on the grounds.
- 1:11:53Speaker 7: I said, they said, building B. We're trying to find
- 1:11:55Speaker 7: it twenty five minutes.
- 1:11:57Speaker 6: I'm like, you know, it's like put more time on.
- 1:11:59Speaker 6: Put fifteen minutes on, put another fifteen minutes on. We
- 1:12:02Speaker 6: had to keep adding time we.
- 1:12:04Speaker 8: Gave you after that, man, I got hey, listen, all
- 1:12:09Speaker 8: right before any artist, Okay, I'll hand it.
- 1:12:11Speaker 6: Working for that, we would have been I don't know
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: what we would have done that The d would have
- 1:12:16Speaker 6: been playing because there was no other program. That was
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: the last thing of the day, So we would have
- 1:12:20Speaker 6: just had just fit thirty minutes of just nothing, a
- 1:12:23Speaker 6: hour of nothing.
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: We swack serving for thirty fat You guys are really like,
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: this is this is death?
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: Why you got to give artists? Fat Joe?
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: Fat Joe really really impressed me when we interviewed him
- 1:12:39Speaker 6: in Miami. He impressed me for a few different reasons.
- 1:12:43Speaker 6: So we had him and we had master P right after.
- 1:12:45Speaker 6: I think he was at the Master People. So we
- 1:12:47Speaker 6: did Fat Joe before we did master P. The interview,
- 1:12:49Speaker 6: let's say, was at like two o'clock, right, so we
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: we spaced it where it was like master P. We'll
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: do master P at six because we know if the
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: interviews at two, he's not gonna come till three, because
- 1:13:00Speaker 6: we just think he's just a rapper. A he comes
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: at one fifty five, and B he can't by himself.
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: That's another thing. These dudes be coming with thirty people,
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: twenty five people, crazy and you got good. It's crazy.
- 1:13:19Speaker 6: Everybody's smoking and it's it's not even the place to
- 1:13:24Speaker 6: smoke necessarily, Like you know what I'm saying.
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: There's a time and place for everything.
- 1:13:27Speaker 7: Yeah, it was crazy, Like the Joe store is crazy
- 1:13:30Speaker 7: because they're calling. I'm calling on the phone like you always. Yeah,
- 1:13:33Speaker 7: I'm looking for an antourage. They said, Noah, he's in
- 1:13:35Speaker 7: that car right there, he's about to get out. I look,
- 1:13:37Speaker 7: it's just him. I'm like, we have to and that's impressive.
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: Just him, and he had like three hundred thousand words
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: for jewelry on Well.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: I was gonna leave that part out, but he said, yeah,
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: I mean that's the Howy movie. It was just like
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: it was just him.
- 1:13:49Speaker 7: He can't do the interview. He showed love and that
- 1:13:52Speaker 7: was it. And again relationship. So if we ever had
- 1:13:54Speaker 7: to call on Joe, it's like, all right, well he
- 1:13:56Speaker 7: knows who we are.
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: I've never seen that before whatever, I've never He's the
- 1:13:58Speaker 6: only person I've ever seen a rapper that came really
- 1:14:01Speaker 6: came by himself.
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: Kiss came on time to shout to kiss. Kiss came
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: by himself. He came on time, but he didn't come
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: by himself. He came by himself. That was impressive.
- 1:14:11Speaker 8: I like that we're having this conversation because it's educational too,
- 1:14:13Speaker 8: and our culture needs like shaping, right these conversations.
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: It's correction, That's what I'm saying.
- 1:14:19Speaker 6: It's not it's not meant to to bash anybody, but
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: if we if we don't correct these these things, then
- 1:14:26Speaker 6: we start to normalize dysfunction. And it's like I feel
- 1:14:30Speaker 6: like we have a voice, we have a platform, and
- 1:14:33Speaker 6: we have credibility and straight like we are hip hop.
- 1:14:35Speaker 6: So it's like this is this is a family conversation.
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: So it's like we have to correct these things because
- 1:14:42Speaker 6: it leads to be it leads to getting taken advantage of,
- 1:14:46Speaker 6: it leads to not knowing doing bad business.
- 1:14:48Speaker 5: Because how you do one thing, it's how you do everything.
- 1:14:50Speaker 6: So if you don't, if you're not on top of it,
- 1:14:52Speaker 6: if you lay, if you always hie, if you got
- 1:14:54Speaker 6: a million people around you, these are formulas for disaster.
- 1:14:59Speaker 6: So it's like this is a bigger conversation, but the
- 1:15:02Speaker 6: artists need to understand it.
- 1:15:04Speaker 5: And it's not this artist like Larussell like this.
- 1:15:06Speaker 6: There's a new generation of artists that are changing that
- 1:15:10Speaker 6: that mold, but it needs to be done more on
- 1:15:13Speaker 6: a wider scale. So it's like this is a this
- 1:15:15Speaker 6: is a formula that record labels have put in place
- 1:15:19Speaker 6: for artists. And they give you a manager, and they
- 1:15:23Speaker 6: give you a styllus and they and they give you
- 1:15:26Speaker 6: a rider. You don't even know you you don't know
- 1:15:29Speaker 6: why you're doing these things. It's just been told to you,
- 1:15:31Speaker 6: like you know what I'm saying, like this is what
- 1:15:32Speaker 6: you're supposed to do, this is what this is what
- 1:15:34Speaker 6: we're going to negotiate for you.
- 1:15:35Speaker 5: This is what you get.
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: You come to the club late, they tell them like
- 1:15:38Speaker 6: you come to the club late, fashionably late. You know,
- 1:15:41Speaker 6: come at two o'clock. That's coming two o'clock. These are things.
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: This is not honest, real So this is how they're
- 1:15:49Speaker 6: being educated. So, like I said, how you do everything,
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: how you do one thing, how you do everything. So
- 1:15:52Speaker 6: if you if you're told don't come to the club
- 1:15:55Speaker 6: until one thirty, then you're thinking, I'm supposed to be late.
- 1:16:00Speaker 6: So it's a business event. I'm supposed to be late.
- 1:16:02Speaker 6: You just you automatically think that late is on time
- 1:16:05Speaker 6: because I'm an artist and I can't come on time.
- 1:16:08Speaker 6: But the crazy thing is when we interview Robert Smith,
- 1:16:11Speaker 6: who's the richest black person in American history. It was
- 1:16:14Speaker 6: on a Friday at seven o'clock in the morning at
- 1:16:19Speaker 6: and he came at six point fifty.
- 1:16:22Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:16:23Speaker 6: So am So it's like, this is a person that's
- 1:16:26Speaker 6: up eight billion dollars and he's up with a three
- 1:16:29Speaker 6: piece suit on early, you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:16:33Speaker 6: it's like, these are the kind of things never asked
- 1:16:35Speaker 6: for a shot out tequila?
- 1:16:37Speaker 5: He drinking coffee.
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: Now that's it, that's the request.
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: That's the rider.
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: Give me some quobe.
- 1:16:42Speaker 7: That happens, like you see like a lot of these
- 1:16:44Speaker 7: artists who have longevity, Like we just saw Lula he's
- 1:16:47Speaker 7: on tour with Jena, Right, there's like this thing going
- 1:16:49Speaker 7: around like, yo, don't show up late to the show.
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: They're going on on time.
- 1:16:53Speaker 7: It's like, yeah, they are if you show up at
- 1:16:57Speaker 7: seven forty five. He's on the stage at seven forty
- 1:16:59Speaker 7: five and one second. Yeah, because he understands the value
- 1:17:02Speaker 7: of his time. But he understands the value of everybody else.
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: It's time too. You paid for a service. I'm here
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: to entertain.
- 1:17:06Speaker 7: I don't want to have you sitting here for two
- 1:17:08Speaker 7: hours waiting for me to come out and jet. It's
- 1:17:11Speaker 7: gonna be all plot work too. So they understand it,
- 1:17:13Speaker 7: but they lounge. They have longevity in the space, right,
- 1:17:16Speaker 7: and so like if he's set in that trend and
- 1:17:18Speaker 7: nobody's following it and nobody's bringing awareness to it, does
- 1:17:21Speaker 7: it ever change?
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 1:17:25Speaker 8: This is important and all the people that are like coming,
- 1:17:29Speaker 8: they're gonna come enjoy the show, but have no idea
- 1:17:32Speaker 8: that you guys, from this conversation, you're teaching from the stage,
- 1:17:37Speaker 8: but you're also teaching behind the scenes like you're teaching,
- 1:17:41Speaker 8: Like you're teaching the artists how to operate, and nobody
- 1:17:44Speaker 8: would ever think that before this moment. You know what
- 1:17:46Speaker 8: I mean that, I'm sure there's certain conversations that you
- 1:17:49Speaker 8: have to have, like Yo, I'm gonna need you on time.
- 1:17:52Speaker 5: Or you just junk. You tell them two hours early.
- 1:17:55Speaker 6: You do different than you do, different tactics to kind of,
- 1:17:57Speaker 6: you know, ensure you don't get rude, because ultimately, it's
- 1:18:02Speaker 6: not in your best interest for somebody to be late.
- 1:18:04Speaker 6: So you got to have certain incentives and certain different
- 1:18:06Speaker 6: things that nature. So you kind of learned that early,
- 1:18:08Speaker 6: Like when you look on artists, right, this is how
- 1:18:09Speaker 6: I got.
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: Talked on this. They handle this person twenty twenty three.
- 1:18:14Speaker 4: It's happening Diddy. It was the first name on the flyer.
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: Sean Colem shout out to Diddy, Love Love Love.
- 1:18:26Speaker 8: I got so excited because I know what y'all do
- 1:18:30Speaker 8: in terms of like curating a conversation, and I really
- 1:18:35Speaker 8: honestly believe this interview will.
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: Be like no other interview. I don't even think any
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: of the other people.
- 1:18:42Speaker 8: For one, he don't do a lot of interviews, but
- 1:18:45Speaker 8: the people that interviewed him. I think we are more
- 1:18:50Speaker 8: focused on pleasing him in the interview to promote. But
- 1:18:57Speaker 8: what I'm excited about is to see all the questions
- 1:19:00Speaker 8: that you guys are gonna ask that we have been
- 1:19:02Speaker 8: wanting to know for years, for decades.
- 1:19:04Speaker 6: It's a lot of questions that need to be asked about.
- 1:19:09Speaker 6: You know, his rise to become a billionaire, that's impressive.
- 1:19:13Speaker 6: His ability to reinvent himself from music to spirits, fashion
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: to whatever, his ability to stay relevant for thirty years.
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: His you know, there's been questions as far as.
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: We're artists that said that they were taking advantage of
- 1:19:30Speaker 6: different things that nature right, These are legitimate questions to
- 1:19:33Speaker 6: be and I'm sure he has his own point of view.
- 1:19:35Speaker 5: We just haven't heard it.
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: We've heard Mace, we heard a variety of other artists
- 1:19:39Speaker 6: that have been disgruntled, but we haven't heard it from
- 1:19:43Speaker 6: his side.
- 1:19:44Speaker 5: We haven't heard like, No, this is.
- 1:19:46Speaker 6: The education that they missed, This is what they you know, like,
- 1:19:50Speaker 6: this is.
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: His side of the story. It's important because you know, no.
- 1:19:56Speaker 6: Matter how you feel about him, he's an important person
- 1:19:59Speaker 6: in our cold Yeah, for sure, and he's played it
- 1:20:01Speaker 6: tremendous part and I got to give credited to to Dion.
- 1:20:06Speaker 6: Though Dion, it's always the people that you don't know
- 1:20:10Speaker 6: who's the most important people. So it's like TABD. We
- 1:20:13Speaker 6: talked about him with Steve Harvey. Dion is like his
- 1:20:15Speaker 6: right hand man. And Dion has been somebody that's been
- 1:20:17Speaker 6: watching Alesia for years and has been advocating us to
- 1:20:21Speaker 6: him for years.
- 1:20:23Speaker 5: He's been advocating it for years.
- 1:20:25Speaker 6: So and there's other people inside of the revolt and
- 1:20:31Speaker 6: you know his enterprise as well, but Dion was that
- 1:20:34Speaker 6: he has been in his ear for years.
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: Understand that too.
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: But not.
- 1:20:45Speaker 6: His name is Dion Graham, and I'm not sure his
- 1:20:48Speaker 6: exact title, but he's like.
- 1:20:51Speaker 5: High level executive at home enterprises.
- 1:20:53Speaker 6: He's like did He's like, you know, go to person
- 1:20:56Speaker 6: to a variety of different things. So he was telling him,
- 1:20:59Speaker 6: he told he's a first person to probably tell Diddy
- 1:21:01Speaker 6: about us, and he has been telling him about us
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: for a very long period of time. So by the
- 1:21:08Speaker 6: time we actually you know, it was already a warm vibe.
- 1:21:11Speaker 6: Obviously you know the relationship will revolt, but then from
- 1:21:14Speaker 6: beon too. So that's important because I wanted to acknowledge
- 1:21:19Speaker 6: him because a lot of times, those type of people
- 1:21:22Speaker 6: don't get acknowledged. Nobody really knows who they are with
- 1:21:25Speaker 6: these these types of situations just don't happen out of there.
- 1:21:28Speaker 6: There's somebody that's usually always behind the scenes that's advocating
- 1:21:31Speaker 6: for it, and that's playing the middleman in this situation.
- 1:21:35Speaker 6: And that's exactly what he has done and what he
- 1:21:37Speaker 6: is currently doing to this day.
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: So he's a good dude.
- 1:21:40Speaker 7: He's the guy that we just spoke about, right, man,
- 1:21:42Speaker 7: I talked about the CFO bad boy. I've been doing
- 1:21:44Speaker 7: this between Nobody's ever asked me like this is these
- 1:21:46Speaker 7: are the people you need to know because he.
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: Has such an important role.
- 1:21:49Speaker 7: He has so much information, but who's giving him the
- 1:21:51Speaker 7: outlet speak on the information? So it's important, like even now,
- 1:21:55Speaker 7: just giving him this moment, because he is important to anything,
- 1:21:58Speaker 7: for us being at revolt, for us getting the Diddy conversation,
- 1:22:00Speaker 7: all of that happens because he.
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: Plays a role that Tabio play the role.
- 1:22:04Speaker 7: But I want to go back to the other part
- 1:22:05Speaker 7: about Puff is that he wants to do it mm hmm, right,
- 1:22:10Speaker 7: Like on the message, I'm sure I had to talk
- 1:22:11Speaker 7: about it, but on the voice note, he left. He
- 1:22:13Speaker 7: was like, thim is now, Like the time is now,
- 1:22:16Speaker 7: so all these things that people have been saying, this.
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: Is the time.
- 1:22:20Speaker 7: I want to show why it's important, you know. I
- 1:22:23Speaker 7: want to give them the blueprint on how this happened.
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:22:26Speaker 7: I want to speak about wealth. I want to speak
- 1:22:28Speaker 7: about how we bridge this gap from knowledge and education
- 1:22:32Speaker 7: to wealth. Right, like, now is the time to do it.
- 1:22:35Speaker 7: And to know that he felt like we would be
- 1:22:37Speaker 7: the trusted place. I mean that just adds to it, right,
- 1:22:40Speaker 7: And we have a track record, like it wasn't like, hey,
- 1:22:43Speaker 7: this is your first one. Nah, you guys have done
- 1:22:45Speaker 7: some really good work. I've been watching it. I've seen
- 1:22:48Speaker 7: it on my network. I can see what it's doing.
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: This is the place because y'all definitely made a good point.
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: He don't be at the revolt of that, you know
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: what I mean. But he's coming.
- 1:22:58Speaker 7: I mean we have a say he has a I
- 1:23:00Speaker 7: mean that was one of the things we're like, yo,
- 1:23:01Speaker 7: we gotta get him on an episode. This passes over,
- 1:23:03Speaker 7: Like we got to have him on the episode. We've
- 1:23:05Speaker 7: been saying this since the first episode. It was like
- 1:23:07Speaker 7: not a time and the time and the time and
- 1:23:09Speaker 7: like all right, Well, the time's gonna come. We're just
- 1:23:12Speaker 7: gonna leave one episode on the deal if we don't
- 1:23:14Speaker 7: get it. So it was like him saying, like the
- 1:23:16Speaker 7: time is now. I was like, Yo, that paraphrases everything,
- 1:23:19Speaker 7: because it's like it's the thing we saw, like he
- 1:23:21Speaker 7: became a billionaire and we just had this conversation, but
- 1:23:23Speaker 7: like he's first generation.
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: He didn't really get the announcement though, what exactly? What?
- 1:23:28Speaker 5: Why? Why?
- 1:23:29Speaker 8: That's what I was wanting even when y'all said it, Yeah,
- 1:23:33Speaker 8: I mean, I act like I knew it.
- 1:23:34Speaker 6: But the billionaire, I would think he you know, it's
- 1:23:37Speaker 6: he's an interesting person. I don't think that he's gotten
- 1:23:41Speaker 6: the same level of reverence that jay Z has gotten.
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: I agree, because.
- 1:23:46Speaker 8: Yeah, I was like, you didn't you know normally jay
- 1:23:49Speaker 8: Z got the YO billionaire calculated.
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: What was Jay's first line? I came into the game,
- 1:23:53Speaker 4: what more money than Puff?
- 1:23:55Speaker 7: Well, Puff's been doing this for that long that his
- 1:23:58Speaker 7: first goal. When he was like this is like early
- 1:24:00Speaker 7: two thousands, like I want more money than Puff. Then
- 1:24:03Speaker 7: I realized puff paper and enough, and then it was like,
- 1:24:05Speaker 7: all right, well we'll get back in this thing together.
- 1:24:06Speaker 7: And it was like yeah, that's right, but he's been
- 1:24:09Speaker 7: doing it. Why it in different in different spaces?
- 1:24:11Speaker 5: Why do you think that?
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: Why do you think he hasn't been Obviously he's celebrated,
- 1:24:16Speaker 6: But why do you think that the reverence has not
- 1:24:20Speaker 6: been the same?
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: I think it has.
- 1:24:24Speaker 8: It hasn't been the same because people have mixed feelings
- 1:24:28Speaker 8: about Diddy. It's almost like everyone loves jay Z. Right,
- 1:24:33Speaker 8: Kanye is the one that's gonna tell you he's a billionaire, right,
- 1:24:37Speaker 8: did He's not necessarily the person's gonna say I'm that right.
- 1:24:40Speaker 8: So I think it just it's just I don't know.
- 1:24:44Speaker 8: It's uh, I don't know.
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: I don't know. Why do you think I don't know?
- 1:24:49Speaker 6: It's I think I think I think it comes down
- 1:24:51Speaker 6: to that there's a lot of question marks, the disgruntled,
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: the disgruntled former artist.
- 1:25:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:25:01Speaker 6: I think that that's a part of his legacy, and
- 1:25:03Speaker 6: I think that that's something that has permeated and has
- 1:25:10Speaker 6: been synonymous, whether it's right, wrong, fare whatever. I think
- 1:25:13Speaker 6: Baby from Cash Money has a similar type of situation
- 1:25:18Speaker 6: because if you look at Baby, I don't think that
- 1:25:19Speaker 6: he gets enough respect. I don't think he gets enough
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: reference either. We put him number one on our list,
- 1:25:25Speaker 6: and we had a lot of pushback from that. But
- 1:25:27Speaker 6: I'm like, who has a run like him? But I
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: think when you see a lot of artists from cash
- 1:25:31Speaker 6: money or people that have worked with cash money, you know,
- 1:25:35Speaker 6: so that they didn't get paid and that they it was,
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: you know, some shaky business practices, I think the public
- 1:25:41Speaker 6: takes a side.
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:25:44Speaker 6: It takes a side, and without even knowing all the information,
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: they take a side. And Jay has done something because
- 1:25:52Speaker 6: Jay has had disgruntled artists as well. He had a
- 1:25:56Speaker 6: lot of the whole state property, all of them at
- 1:25:59Speaker 6: one point have except for Freeway. I never heard Freeway
- 1:26:02Speaker 6: saything bad about him, but all the state property at
- 1:26:04Speaker 6: one point was just going to including Beanie Siegel.
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: Who was his guy.
- 1:26:07Speaker 8: Uh.
- 1:26:08Speaker 6: Kanye West has taken multiple shots at Jay throughout the
- 1:26:11Speaker 6: throughout the course of the years a mill. I don't
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: want to go down a rabbit hole, but this has
- 1:26:16Speaker 6: been But Jay has been able to stay clean. Yeah,
- 1:26:21Speaker 6: for sure, Jay, I don't know how he does it,
- 1:26:24Speaker 6: but he has. He has a very unique ability to
- 1:26:28Speaker 6: stay clean even when you're throwing mud on him.
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:26:31Speaker 6: Maybe because he doesn't speak a lot. It's a nostalgic
- 1:26:34Speaker 6: that you feel for him because he's he's kind of
- 1:26:37Speaker 6: like a ghost. But no matter what, because people have
- 1:26:40Speaker 6: said negative things about Jay from the colony Kaepernick, there
- 1:26:42Speaker 6: have been negative propaganda has been put on j but
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: it hasn't.
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: Worked the way it's worked for other.
- 1:26:49Speaker 6: People, Like you know what I'm saying, Like Jays has
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: remained clean for almost twenty five years, even with the
- 1:26:56Speaker 6: r Kelly thing, Like he's never really been an a
- 1:27:00Speaker 6: situation where it was like, let's cancel jay Z.
- 1:27:03Speaker 5: Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:27:04Speaker 7: For sure, what I mean, there's a part of it
- 1:27:07Speaker 7: that's true, but I think there's a part of it
- 1:27:08Speaker 7: that again, we kind of normalize greatness. And so when
- 1:27:13Speaker 7: when puff has done things, we've watched them over the
- 1:27:16Speaker 7: long term. Right, We've watched obviously the music, but we've
- 1:27:20Speaker 7: watched Sean John and the clothing, and we watched the
- 1:27:23Speaker 7: Spirits and they've been great for so long. Right, he
- 1:27:25Speaker 7: just got Sean John back, But even at that deals
- 1:27:28Speaker 7: like someone there's a conversation around it. But he's done
- 1:27:30Speaker 7: the Spirits for so long, and while he's been doing it,
- 1:27:33Speaker 7: we've seen the lifestyle we've seen the lifestyle, so like
- 1:27:36Speaker 7: the fact that he's reached it, it's.
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: Like, oh, we already expected him to be there, whereas.
- 1:27:39Speaker 7: With like Jay's he's doing these investments and it feels
- 1:27:43Speaker 7: sexy because he's doing them.
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: It's like yo, LV and Mage, Oh man, that's crazy.
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: He just sold it. Oh he did to the Cardi deal.
- 1:27:48Speaker 7: This is right, Like that happened in front of us,
- 1:27:51Speaker 7: like real time, when there's social media and there's more
- 1:27:54Speaker 7: emphasis on it. Whereas when Puff did the DeLeon deal,
- 1:27:57Speaker 7: it was like, well, we didn't really know it, but
- 1:28:00Speaker 7: it sounds good, right, you know what I mean. But
- 1:28:03Speaker 7: the expectation for them was like we've seen him since
- 1:28:05Speaker 7: he was twenty one years old, these multi million of
- 1:28:09Speaker 7: then in nineteen ninety five, ninety six.
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: The fact that he's.
- 1:28:11Speaker 7: Getting to this point, you know, it's like I felt
- 1:28:14Speaker 7: like the expectation of it was like part of the
- 1:28:17Speaker 7: reason was like the reverence isn't as much. It's like
- 1:28:20Speaker 7: for ten years ago, did people know who Robert Smith was? No,
- 1:28:24Speaker 7: he's been doing it right. He's been doing these things right.
- 1:28:27Speaker 7: People still don't even know who Dave Stewart is. I
- 1:28:29Speaker 7: don't know who Dave story is right, he's the second
- 1:28:31Speaker 7: wealthies black men in the country. But we don't even know.
- 1:28:34Speaker 7: It's not sexy, right, and the expectations are not there.
- 1:28:37Speaker 7: But it's like, now these people need to be recognized
- 1:28:40Speaker 7: for the business.
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:28:41Speaker 7: Yes, the entertainment is great, but there's business that's going on.
- 1:28:45Speaker 7: They didn't make it from music. Music was the thing
- 1:28:47Speaker 7: that Cali posted them to open up other opportunities. But
- 1:28:50Speaker 7: it came from spirits, right, It came from fashion, it
- 1:28:53Speaker 7: came from investing. Those are the things that are making
- 1:28:56Speaker 7: them reach these lists where we talk about the system,
- 1:28:59Speaker 7: we talk about the Walmart family like you brought up.
- 1:29:02Speaker 7: I told you the difference, right, this generational and sustainable.
- 1:29:05Speaker 7: We need to have both. It's like, yeah, they did
- 1:29:07Speaker 7: it off for entertainment and they have spirits.
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: Well what happens in the next generation doesn't want to
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: do in the spirits? What does that look like? Do they?
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: So?
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: This is it? Like the time is now?
- 1:29:17Speaker 7: It is now because now he's fifty four years old.
- 1:29:20Speaker 7: What's your legacy look like?
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: Man? Yo, I I know we gotta wrap up.
- 1:29:26Speaker 8: Like I asked so many questions, I'll just ask you
- 1:29:29Speaker 8: like I want to know what y'all talked about at
- 1:29:32Speaker 8: Diddy's house, because that was that was.
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: The meanest thing y'all could have did for Instagram.
- 1:29:38Speaker 8: Like it was just these sneaks and peaks and I'm like,
- 1:29:40Speaker 8: yo over there, and I was watching, like, Yo, this
- 1:29:44Speaker 8: is something's happening.
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: I don't know what's happening, but something's happening.
- 1:29:48Speaker 8: But yes, man, if that's best twenty twenty three, this
- 1:29:51Speaker 8: is going to be an epic, epic event. And anytime
- 1:29:56Speaker 8: you can put twenty thousand people in the room, and
- 1:30:01Speaker 8: for me, we got great uh great uh speakers, great artists.
- 1:30:07Speaker 8: But the value I think is in the other twenty
- 1:30:10Speaker 8: thousand network.
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: Be prepared, Come prepared.
- 1:30:15Speaker 8: You need to start working on your networking skills right
- 1:30:17Speaker 8: now because this is going to be a gold mine.
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: You never know.
- 1:30:22Speaker 8: And yo, it's it's millionaires, multi millionaires. I'm talking about
- 1:30:25Speaker 8: just there there, I'm sitting, I'm sitting. Last year, it
- 1:30:29Speaker 8: was a dude that like owns a nine figure company
- 1:30:32Speaker 8: behind me just learned what his notebook.
- 1:30:33Speaker 10: I said, what's happening here though, thousands, thousands, thousands.
- 1:30:44Speaker 4: Where else can that happen?
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: Fact?
- 1:30:46Speaker 8: Yeah, So really, if you if you watch any podcast episode,
- 1:30:50Speaker 8: it's probably a good chance and that person's going to
- 1:30:52Speaker 8: be at the building.
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: So if you watch any ey episode, just come prepared.
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: Like with you.
- 1:30:58Speaker 8: I don't know if you got to pitch, if you
- 1:30:59Speaker 8: got to a business card, you just just come.
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: Be likable, Okay.
- 1:31:03Speaker 8: And some people for the networking, you just want to
- 1:31:06Speaker 8: gather information.
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: That's cool too.
- 1:31:08Speaker 8: But I think you all have done an amazing job
- 1:31:10Speaker 8: of curating a staple in our culture. I'm talking about
- 1:31:14Speaker 8: black You go to a black enterprise event ten years ago,
- 1:31:18Speaker 8: that's the staple. Now it's seven hundred people, no shout, no,
- 1:31:22Speaker 8: no shade. But this is different. This is different. So
- 1:31:27Speaker 8: shouts out to you gentlemen. Man, thank you for allowing
- 1:31:30Speaker 8: me to come on and just really really get the
- 1:31:35Speaker 8: information on what's happening behind this cultural phenomenon.
- 1:31:38Speaker 6: Man, thank you brother facilitating this conversation absolutely, and you know,
- 1:31:44Speaker 6: thank you for all work that you've done and always
- 1:31:46Speaker 6: saying yes whenever we ask you for something. And you know,
- 1:31:50Speaker 6: much continued success on your journey, your event, your network,
- 1:31:55Speaker 6: and keep keep inspiring and keep teaching people because it's
- 1:31:58Speaker 6: supporting the education part. I think it's extremely important, especially
- 1:32:01Speaker 6: when it comes to our space. As far as in
- 1:32:02Speaker 6: the media, I don't think that there's enough education. It's
- 1:32:04Speaker 6: just a lot of trial and error. So it's great
- 1:32:06Speaker 6: to see, you know, you actually filling that void. As
- 1:32:09Speaker 6: far as teaching people, that's important.
- 1:32:11Speaker 4: Everybody on my network is kind of like your grandchildren.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: Yeah that's important. Yeah, no, the squad, So.
- 1:32:18Speaker 7: Yeah, thank you again, But that a lot of people
- 1:32:21Speaker 7: like will get lost in that, right, Like, yeah, you
- 1:32:22Speaker 7: are on Introduce network and you had an idea to say, like,
- 1:32:25Speaker 7: I have something that I want to expand on and
- 1:32:27Speaker 7: build on my.
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: Own, y'all support it. And it was like, yeah, yo,
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: if you want to do that, go ahead.
- 1:32:31Speaker 7: And it wasn't like, yo, we're never doing anything with
- 1:32:33Speaker 7: him again he left a network.
- 1:32:34Speaker 4: It was like, all right, let's help him still build
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: because he's so great at what he does. If he
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: can be part of something, let's make sure that he is.
- 1:32:41Speaker 7: And so like we always talk about collaboration over competition,
- 1:32:43Speaker 7: but it's like, nah, if there's a situation working help,
- 1:32:46Speaker 7: Like you said, when we ask you to do anything,
- 1:32:47Speaker 7: it's always like how can I help?
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: And how can I still be a service?
- 1:32:50Speaker 7: And so like people can see that it doesn't have
- 1:32:53Speaker 7: to be a dispute, it doesn't have to be any
- 1:32:54Speaker 7: friction or any awkwardness. It's like, nah, if we can help,
- 1:32:57Speaker 7: we go in too. So thank you for facilitating this.
- 1:33:00Speaker 8: Coming back home guys got a spot.
- 1:33:06Speaker 6: Yes, appreciate and yeah, get your tickets in vestfest dot com.
- 1:33:11Speaker 6: Like you said, twenty thousand people this year, we got
- 1:33:13Speaker 6: four Diddy, Robert Smith. But even outside that, junior Bridgeman,
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: he's he's almost a millionaire, he's six hundred million up,
- 1:33:19Speaker 6: you know, Rich Rich Paul, and then of course you
- 1:33:22Speaker 6: know you MG the mortgage guy, Ian Dunlap, nineteen Keys,
- 1:33:27Speaker 6: you know, a variety of different people.
- 1:33:29Speaker 5: From Jada Chiefs are Reflection.
- 1:33:35Speaker 6: You know, I wanted to have a very eclectic group
- 1:33:38Speaker 6: of people, so you got Ari and you got Mike Novograts.
- 1:33:41Speaker 6: You know, it's like and they're both important, and they're
- 1:33:44Speaker 6: both important, so it's like, you know, let's let's let's
- 1:33:47Speaker 6: really incorporate the entire culture, you know, musical performances.
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: Geez Jau wanted.
- 1:33:52Speaker 6: To have more women new this year as well, so
- 1:33:54Speaker 6: we got some more. We got a podcast age. I
- 1:33:56Speaker 6: don't think I mentioned that, So we got a podcast
- 1:33:58Speaker 6: day first time ever. So we get got my boy
- 1:34:01Speaker 6: Jonathan from Vanessa's Only Club.
- 1:34:03Speaker 5: We gotta be some moan that we got.
- 1:34:06Speaker 6: We got, we got, we got a millionaire Mitai mindset,
- 1:34:10Speaker 6: the god thro So that's that's a new experience that
- 1:34:13Speaker 6: we're gonna have this year as the podcast stage.
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: And that is exciting. So check us out.
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: Man. Did we say we're not done?
- 1:34:21Speaker 5: Oh yeah, some more, some more, and we're not We
- 1:34:23Speaker 5: always add know.
- 1:34:24Speaker 4: We're not done. This is the first way, first wave.
- 1:34:28Speaker 4: I have some keep some things in the ton.
- 1:34:30Speaker 5: Keep some bullets in the clip.
