- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line. Second to day three
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion as Bumpas left to right,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Julius Jones a simile setback Matt pumpfacks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown,
- 0:17Speaker 1: Saint Hawks. It's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. Welcome
- 0:34Speaker 1: to Hawk Talk Preview Week to a Dish and I'm
- 0:37Speaker 1: Michael Bumps along with Nasa to Choby. This week, the
- 0:40Speaker 1: Tennessee Titans come into looming field and try to get right.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Hopefully that doesn't happen. But before we get into all
- 0:46Speaker 1: the specifics, there's Nasa Choby with the injury updates. Thanks well.
- 0:50Speaker 1: The Seahawks entered the season completely healthy with no one
- 0:52Speaker 1: on the injury report, and came out of the game
- 0:54Speaker 1: relatively okay against the Colt Slash. Sunday Head coach p
- 0:58Speaker 1: Carroll stepped up to the Ponymans does every Wednesday and
- 1:00Speaker 1: gave an update on Dwayne Eskridge, Penny Hart, and Ethan Postic.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Dwayne is still he's still coming back. He's not he's
- 1:07Speaker 1: not with us today. He's home today, so he's still
- 1:10Speaker 1: working his way back. Um, and you asked about Penny, Yeah,
- 1:13Speaker 1: Penny Hart will practice today, go on injured reserve. What's
- 1:17Speaker 1: what's his long term status with that? We're hoping it's
- 1:19Speaker 1: a three week deal. You know, we can get him
- 1:21Speaker 1: back in three the minimum. You know. He he's actually,
- 1:25Speaker 1: you know, he's moving, he's conflex his knee. It's not
- 1:27Speaker 1: all blown up or anything like that. So he'll have
- 1:29Speaker 1: a chance to do that. All right, you've heard from
- 1:31Speaker 1: head coach Pete Carroll on the injuries. Now it's time
- 1:33Speaker 1: to get into the Seahawks Week two opponents. Who's next
- 1:37Speaker 1: the Tennessee Titans. Who's next? Who's next? All right, I'll
- 1:46Speaker 1: tell you who's next. The Tennessee Titans. They are all
- 1:48Speaker 1: in one. Last week, man, they got beat down by
- 1:52Speaker 1: the Arizona Cardinals thirty eight to thirteen. Nothing seemed right,
- 1:56Speaker 1: you know. And before we talk about the Titans, I
- 1:57Speaker 1: got this big up to Cardinals. Man, maybe a heck
- 2:01Speaker 1: of a game. Kyler Murray was in the zone. They
- 2:03Speaker 1: were of twenty four to six at halftime. Murray was
- 2:05Speaker 1: twenty one to thirty two, two hundred and eighty nine yards,
- 2:08Speaker 1: four touchdowns, one interception, And he was disrespected this week. Choby.
- 2:12Speaker 1: You know why he was disrespected because the league chose
- 2:15Speaker 1: Tom Brady as the offensive player of the week and
- 2:18Speaker 1: it should have been Kyler Murray for what he did
- 2:20Speaker 1: in Tennessee. Their defense was going. I mean, it was
- 2:23Speaker 1: probably more about what the Cardinals did than what the
- 2:26Speaker 1: Titans didn't do. Yeah, man, I was surprised. We're gonna
- 2:29Speaker 1: get into this a little bit when we go around
- 2:31Speaker 1: the world in the NFC West, But my goodness, the Cardinals.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I was expecting them to be competitive and be pretty good.
- 2:36Speaker 1: But to start the season like they did on the
- 2:38Speaker 1: road against a good Titans team. Man, this Titan team
- 2:40Speaker 1: was in the playoffs last year, they won eleven games,
- 2:43Speaker 1: won the AFC South last year. It's a good football team,
- 2:46Speaker 1: a lot of good dudes on that squad. But the
- 2:48Speaker 1: Cardinals came in and just beat the Brakes off. A man,
- 2:50Speaker 1: it was not close. DeAndre Hopkins Christian Kirk both had
- 2:54Speaker 1: four receiving touchdowns or two each, four total between the two.
- 2:58Speaker 1: But man, it was done on defense. Bump. Chandler Jones
- 3:02Speaker 1: sacked Ryan Tannehill five times. Yeah, I said that five times.
- 3:08Speaker 1: He's not gonna do that every week, but he's on
- 3:10Speaker 1: pace for eighty five sacks in twenty twenty one. It's unreal.
- 3:14Speaker 1: He also added four tackles for lost, six quarterback hits
- 3:17Speaker 1: two forced fumbles led to fourteen points for the Cardinals,
- 3:20Speaker 1: And my goodness, Chandler Jones, that's gonna be a scary
- 3:23Speaker 1: sight for the rest of the NFC West. But that
- 3:25Speaker 1: defense was balling, man, and kind of like you said, man,
- 3:27Speaker 1: it was about what the Cardinals did to the Titans. Yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 1: Cardinals came ready to play, all right, the tightest now.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Tannehill was twenty one to thirty five two hundred and
- 3:36Speaker 1: twelve yards, was sacked six times, five by mister Chandler
- 3:39Speaker 1: drums Are. Threw one touchdown and threw one pick, lost
- 3:42Speaker 1: two fumbles as well. Dereck Henry, he was shut down.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I haven't seen a game like this from this young
- 3:47Speaker 1: man in a long time. Seventeen carries, fifty eight yards,
- 3:49Speaker 1: no touchdowns, only average three point four yards per carry.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Nineteen of those fifth day yards came on one run.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Not a Derrick Henry type of day. This guy rushed
- 4:00Speaker 1: for two thousand yards seventeen touchdowns last year. I would
- 4:04Speaker 1: like to think this week against the Seattle Seahawks, that's
- 4:07Speaker 1: a point of emphasis. Get this man going. Oh absolutely,
- 4:10Speaker 1: I mean, Derrick Henry is what they do. This man
- 4:12Speaker 1: came off one of the best seasons in the National
- 4:14Speaker 1: Football League history last year, going over two thousand yards.
- 4:17Speaker 1: For him to just have eight yards in the first half,
- 4:19Speaker 1: that's unacceptable. I mean, that's a normal, it's a standard
- 4:22Speaker 1: run for that man right there. So's it's baffleting to
- 4:25Speaker 1: kind of see how that happened. And I get it
- 4:27Speaker 1: when we're in a game like that and the Cardinals
- 4:30Speaker 1: jump on you right off the jump and you're down
- 4:32Speaker 1: twenty four six at half time, you're not gonna be
- 4:33Speaker 1: running the ball the way you want to. But eight
- 4:36Speaker 1: yards in the first half, you know, And it's a
- 4:39Speaker 1: little scary because you know they're unnotice. You know they're
- 4:41Speaker 1: going back to practice today and tomorrow and Friday, and
- 4:43Speaker 1: it's gonna be a rough week of practice for them.
- 4:45Speaker 1: But they're gonna be focused and ready to go. And
- 4:48Speaker 1: you know enemy number one this week to me Derrick Henry,
- 4:50Speaker 1: because they will be given him the rock a ton
- 4:52Speaker 1: on Sunday. But another big takeaway from that Cardinals Titans
- 4:56Speaker 1: game was a j. Brown, we know what he can
- 4:58Speaker 1: do and Julio Jones that combo was held to seven
- 5:01Speaker 1: receptions for seventy eight yards in one touchdown come by.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I would take that. If each one of them got that,
- 5:08Speaker 1: I'd be like, yeah, it's not what you want, but
- 5:10Speaker 1: you'd live with it. So the fact that they that
- 5:12Speaker 1: happened as well, the Cardinals were playing good football on
- 5:15Speaker 1: all sides, and they clamped three of the best you
- 5:18Speaker 1: know players in National Football League down in one week,
- 5:21Speaker 1: clamped them down, I would like to say the changeing
- 5:25Speaker 1: offensive coordinator had to do something about it. Author Smith
- 5:28Speaker 1: is gone. They got downy there calling the plays now
- 5:31Speaker 1: and he's on thing nice. He's in twenty seventeen. He
- 5:34Speaker 1: took over for the Raiders and that offense stalled out,
- 5:36Speaker 1: so very we took a chance on him first week
- 5:38Speaker 1: stalled out. You never know, they can turn things around.
- 5:40Speaker 1: This is the NFL. Any given Sunday, any given weeks,
- 5:43Speaker 1: you can fix things. So you know it's not over yet.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You still gotta play the game. It's gonna show up.
- 5:48Speaker 1: They still got personnel. Let's look at this head to
- 5:50Speaker 1: head comparison. Yeah, man, you know it's hard to look
- 5:53Speaker 1: at the head head after just one week. You know,
- 5:55Speaker 1: as we go through the year, we'll get more of
- 5:57Speaker 1: a better picture of kind of what these teams look
- 5:59Speaker 1: like through out the year. But just looking from just
- 6:01Speaker 1: the Week one matchups that the Titans and the Seahawks had,
- 6:04Speaker 1: you know, the Seahawks game three hundred and eighty one
- 6:06Speaker 1: yards on offense, which was a lot. Titans said two
- 6:08Speaker 1: forty eight at three eighty one. Surprisingly, it was only
- 6:12Speaker 1: tied for eighteenth in Week one, and it's kind of
- 6:14Speaker 1: deceiving because we all saw what the Seahawks did last Sunday.
- 6:17Speaker 1: It was very efficient and everything they did it felt easy,
- 6:21Speaker 1: so they but a lot of people were throwing the
- 6:23Speaker 1: ball around the yard, a lot of yards going around
- 6:24Speaker 1: in the NFL. The Titans, on the other hand, that
- 6:26Speaker 1: two forty eight is thirty first in the National Football League,
- 6:29Speaker 1: so not what they want to see. Rushing offense. Seahawks
- 6:31Speaker 1: had one hundred and forty that puts him at eight
- 6:33Speaker 1: in the NFL. The Titans had eighty six as a unit,
- 6:36Speaker 1: puts him at twenty. Seahawks pass for two and forty
- 6:39Speaker 1: one yards, that's twenty to the NFL, and the Titans
- 6:42Speaker 1: pass for one sixty two, which is twenty ninth. Seahawks
- 6:45Speaker 1: points for a game at twenty eight, that's thirteenth in
- 6:47Speaker 1: the league, and the Titans tied for twenty ninth with
- 6:50Speaker 1: only thirteen points. So we're looking at this matchup on
- 6:53Speaker 1: paper obviously just judging off what we know from the
- 6:55Speaker 1: Week one performances obviously lopsided in the seahawks favor because
- 6:58Speaker 1: the Titans really struggled to get anything going offensively. Yeah,
- 7:02Speaker 1: head to head comparison after Week one is really deceiving.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I think we get more from like the preseason head
- 7:07Speaker 1: to head than after the Week one head to head.
- 7:09Speaker 1: You look at the total defense. Hey, this defense is
- 7:11Speaker 1: eleventh in the league right now nasally it last year
- 7:14Speaker 1: they were thirty thirty one somewhere around. Their defense got
- 7:17Speaker 1: off on the right foot. The Titans defense is ranked
- 7:19Speaker 1: twenty second. They gave a four and to sixteen yards
- 7:21Speaker 1: that you mentioned rush defense. Hawks are sixteen, Titans are
- 7:24Speaker 1: twenty four pass defense. Hawks are twelve, Titans are twenty.
- 7:28Speaker 1: So you know what I will. I will take these
- 7:31Speaker 1: stats when it comes to the defense, all right, because
- 7:32Speaker 1: last year when this team started, I mean, they gave
- 7:35Speaker 1: a four to fifty passing yards to Matt Ryan over
- 7:38Speaker 1: there in atl So they're getting off on the right foot. Yes,
- 7:41Speaker 1: it's only one week of stats, but a plus, this
- 7:45Speaker 1: defense is moving in the right direction. Yeah, I love
- 7:47Speaker 1: that too. And the other thing too, turnover differential. The
- 7:51Speaker 1: Seahawks at zero tied for thirteen Titans minus two. That
- 7:54Speaker 1: was a big reason why they lost in Week one.
- 7:56Speaker 1: They're going to prioritize taking care of the football. Those
- 7:58Speaker 1: two turnovers lead into four teen points. That was a
- 8:01Speaker 1: big killer for them. The one thing you'd like to
- 8:03Speaker 1: see cleaned up his penalties. Seahawks were seven at fifty three,
- 8:06Speaker 1: Titans were seven for fifty seven yards. Even though one
- 8:10Speaker 1: of those penalties, I mean the one on DK Come
- 8:13Speaker 1: on now, yeah, come on, the one on DC. I
- 8:15Speaker 1: can't even get mad from that. When they showed him
- 8:16Speaker 1: on the sideline, his eyes were all big. He's like,
- 8:18Speaker 1: are you serious you called that on me? I'm the
- 8:20Speaker 1: one who got shove and he's usually good at, you know,
- 8:23Speaker 1: causing penalties for the other side. So that'd be one
- 8:26Speaker 1: thing we'd like to see cleaned up for the Seahawks.
- 8:29Speaker 1: But it's that time got to ededucate, y'all. It's time
- 8:32Speaker 1: to know your history, No your history, all right. Series
- 8:37Speaker 1: matchup between the Seahawks and the Titans. The Seahawks lead
- 8:39Speaker 1: the all time series ten to seven. The last meeting,
- 8:42Speaker 1: the Seahawks fell to the Titans thirty three to twenty
- 8:44Speaker 1: seven in Nashville during the twenty seventeen season. If you remember,
- 8:48Speaker 1: that was Week three. Russell Wilson had a big game,
- 8:50Speaker 1: going twenty nine for forty nine and three hundred and
- 8:52Speaker 1: seventy three yards, four touchdowns win reception. Our good friend
- 8:56Speaker 1: Doug Baldwin led the Seahawks and receiving that day with
- 8:58Speaker 1: ten receptions one hundred five yards in one touchdown. Bobby
- 9:02Speaker 1: Wax did his thing with eleven tackles. But that was
- 9:05Speaker 1: at a different time in twenty seventeen earl in the year.
- 9:07Speaker 1: The Shawks had a lot going on that week because
- 9:09Speaker 1: I was the peak of the national Anthem discussions. A
- 9:12Speaker 1: lot of things were happening, and I were bigger than football,
- 9:14Speaker 1: so we'll give them a pass. Their Seahawks will love
- 9:17Speaker 1: to get back at it at Looming Field, another chance
- 9:20Speaker 1: to avenge a loss against the Tennessee Titans. But man, Bump,
- 9:25Speaker 1: we alluded to it when it started. There's some really
- 9:28Speaker 1: good things happening in the NFC ust what's the word?
- 9:36Speaker 1: And the Seahawks were the NFC West champs again. What's
- 9:39Speaker 1: the word in the West? On Hawk Talk? What's the
- 9:44Speaker 1: word in the West? I'll let you know what it is.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Everybody's undefeated. Hawks want to know, Rams want to know,
- 9:49Speaker 1: Cardinals want to know. Niners one and oh. The NFC
- 9:52Speaker 1: West is the best division in football, no question about it.
- 9:56Speaker 1: After Week one they outscored their opponents one hundred and
- 9:59Speaker 1: forty one two seventy six. All right, the forty nine
- 10:02Speaker 1: ers beat the Lines forty one to thirty three. They
- 10:04Speaker 1: could have really smashed on them, but late in the
- 10:05Speaker 1: game there's a couple of turnovers kept the Lions in
- 10:08Speaker 1: the game. I was almost wishing that the Lines will win.
- 10:12Speaker 1: It's almost like how I feel about the Pac twelve
- 10:13Speaker 1: right now. It's like, Okay, I want you to have
- 10:16Speaker 1: to do well. I'm a coop, you know. But I
- 10:17Speaker 1: want them to represent for the conference. That's where I
- 10:21Speaker 1: am with everyone in the division right now. As long
- 10:23Speaker 1: as we're not the Hawks ain't playing anybody in the division.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I want them to do well just to further solidify
- 10:28Speaker 1: the NFC West as the best conference in the NFL. Now.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Like I mentioned, the nine forty one to seventeen with
- 10:34Speaker 1: nine fifty three to go him the fourth but the
- 10:37Speaker 1: Lion score twenty three points in three minutes, you would
- 10:40Speaker 1: think Matthew Stafford was there, but no, it was Jared
- 10:43Speaker 1: Goff leading the way for these guys. Yeah, no question.
- 10:46Speaker 1: That was crazy. We were doing our postgame show and
- 10:47Speaker 1: looking at the TV, and every time you look back,
- 10:49Speaker 1: they were a little closer, a little closer, and all
- 10:51Speaker 1: of a sudden you're like, wait a minute, they have
- 10:52Speaker 1: the ball with a chance to tie the game. Deebo
- 10:55Speaker 1: Samuel had a catching reception, had a clear first down,
- 10:58Speaker 1: fumbled the ball even back to the Lions and they
- 11:02Speaker 1: marched all the way down to the forty nine twenty
- 11:04Speaker 1: four yard line with twelve sex remaining. Unfortunately, turned the
- 11:06Speaker 1: ball over and downs for them. But I can't lie.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Deebo Samuels balled out nine receptions one hundred eighty nine
- 11:12Speaker 1: yards and a touchdown. So he did his thing for sure.
- 11:15Speaker 1: The offensive side for the forty nine ers, Jimmy G.
- 11:17Speaker 1: He had a solid debut of this season. I know
- 11:19Speaker 1: a lot of question marks about when people are saying
- 11:21Speaker 1: when Trey Lance is gonna take over for him, but
- 11:24Speaker 1: Jimmy G went seventeen of twenty five for three hundred
- 11:26Speaker 1: and fourteen yards in a touchdown. I mentioned. Trey Lance
- 11:29Speaker 1: got his first NFL Staffs got him in early one
- 11:31Speaker 1: for one with a five yard touchdown. Elijah Mitchell led
- 11:35Speaker 1: the running backs with one hundred and four yards on
- 11:37Speaker 1: nineteen carries and a touchdown. Defensively, usual suspects man Fred Warner,
- 11:42Speaker 1: levin tackles, Nick Bosa four tackles, a sack. You know,
- 11:46Speaker 1: for a lot of that game, they looked like the
- 11:48Speaker 1: Niners that went to the Super Bowl. So take that
- 11:51Speaker 1: for what it's worth. They are playing the Detroit Lions,
- 11:54Speaker 1: but man, they got some dogs too. And if Jimmy
- 11:57Speaker 1: G's playing well, I know he's always definitely injury on
- 12:00Speaker 1: this point his career, but if he's playing well, it's
- 12:02Speaker 1: gonna be hard for Shanahan to really push Trey Lance
- 12:05Speaker 1: into that starting line after the team's winning. The think
- 12:08Speaker 1: about Jimmy is I think he's gonna always play good
- 12:11Speaker 1: enough to make it interesting. He's not gonna vow you,
- 12:13Speaker 1: but he's gonna play good enough to make it interesting.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Another thing about the forty nine Ers is man one
- 12:18Speaker 1: running back goes down. Rashima has done for the year.
- 12:20Speaker 1: You got Elijah Mitchell just jumps right in, goes for
- 12:22Speaker 1: one hundred and four and to touchdown. Something about that
- 12:25Speaker 1: system and that offensive line just allows running backs to
- 12:27Speaker 1: play well. And we saw that on this play on Sunday.
- 12:30Speaker 1: All right, Now, the Rams look good. All right. They
- 12:32Speaker 1: beat the Bears thirty four to fourteen, and they were
- 12:35Speaker 1: in control from start to finish. Matthew Stafford was twenty
- 12:38Speaker 1: twenty six, three hundred twenty one yards, three touchdowns in
- 12:41Speaker 1: his debut. My guy, you know, I like this, dude.
- 12:44Speaker 1: One of my favorite receivers, Cooper Cup seven receptions, one
- 12:47Speaker 1: hundred eight yards, one touchdown. Running back Darrel Henderson seventy
- 12:50Speaker 1: yards on sixteen carries. This Rams offense looks good and
- 12:55Speaker 1: this Ram defense is good. They lost a lot of
- 12:57Speaker 1: coaches this coaching step. But one of the questions where
- 12:59Speaker 1: on defense. Are they gonna be able to duplicate what
- 13:02Speaker 1: they did last year. I'm not gonna say they duplicated it,
- 13:04Speaker 1: but they showed that this is still a very good defense.
- 13:07Speaker 1: You still got Aaron Donald over there, you still got
- 13:09Speaker 1: Jalen Ramsey, guys surrounding them who are going to make plays.
- 13:12Speaker 1: The Rams. After week one, I think they are contenders
- 13:15Speaker 1: as well, absolutely, man. And you look at their offense.
- 13:17Speaker 1: They scored on six of Stafford's first seven full drives,
- 13:20Speaker 1: racking them three hundred and seventy five yards of offense,
- 13:23Speaker 1: and it was balanced. Man. They threw the ball twenty
- 13:25Speaker 1: six times. They're also able to run the rock, and
- 13:27Speaker 1: they as the injuries in that running back room, you know,
- 13:29Speaker 1: So to see them kind of come out and set
- 13:31Speaker 1: the tone against the Bears was interesting to see. They
- 13:34Speaker 1: did it on Sunday Night football. Matthew Stafford looked good.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie, man, he's throwing that rock. We've
- 13:39Speaker 1: known he's a good quarterback. But the question was, you know,
- 13:41Speaker 1: as he'd had elite level status, is he the one
- 13:43Speaker 1: that's gonna take that next jump in the Sean McVay
- 13:46Speaker 1: offense and started off, there was some fireworks man. Yeah,
- 13:49Speaker 1: it's gonna be interesting in this division every single week.
- 13:52Speaker 1: You gotta bring your lunch pail because it's gonna be
- 13:54Speaker 1: a dog fight. And the Rams proved again kind of
- 13:57Speaker 1: like I mentioned with the forty nine ers. They looked
- 13:59Speaker 1: like that off fence in you know, seventeen eighteen, part
- 14:02Speaker 1: of nineteen, that was a Super Bowl cowboy offense. And
- 14:05Speaker 1: now you got Matthew Stafford, which in money people's opinion
- 14:08Speaker 1: is an upgrade on Matthew Stafford. So Sean McVeigh in
- 14:11Speaker 1: that combo bench and see where they go moving forward. Hey,
- 14:14Speaker 1: big upsa Melvin Gord. He had a nice run with
- 14:16Speaker 1: the Broncos this weekend. The talk about the the old
- 14:20Speaker 1: school Rams, I think of Melvin Gorn, big us, Melvin
- 14:22Speaker 1: going to do your thing baby. All right. We already
- 14:24Speaker 1: talked about the Cardinals. They look special. They got two
- 14:27Speaker 1: good receivers over their quarterback, who's gonna make something out
- 14:30Speaker 1: of nothing good in the backfield Chandler Jones five sacks.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I mean, what can you say each team we just
- 14:37Speaker 1: highlighted if we if we didn't know anything about this division,
- 14:40Speaker 1: we would say, okay, well they must be ahead of
- 14:42Speaker 1: their division it's looking at the stats and the storylines
- 14:43Speaker 1: of what's going on. Man, it is going to be
- 14:46Speaker 1: tough in this division. All right, let's take a look
- 14:49Speaker 1: at these Titans and see what these matchups looks like.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Man up, who is this? Miss? Man up on Hawk Talk?
- 15:03Speaker 1: All right, Tennessee Titans. We're gonna start with the quarterback,
- 15:06Speaker 1: Ryan Tannehill going up against the seaoff defense. We mentioned
- 15:09Speaker 1: it a little bit earlier, a slow start for Tannehill.
- 15:12Speaker 1: He had a rough day against the Cardinals. They really
- 15:14Speaker 1: set the tone on that offense. Tannehill went twenty one
- 15:17Speaker 1: to thirty five for two hundred and twelve yards, was
- 15:19Speaker 1: sacked those six times, five by Chandwin Jones through one touchdown,
- 15:23Speaker 1: one interception, lost two fumbles with three turnovers. Obviously you
- 15:26Speaker 1: don't want to see if you're a Titans fan. But
- 15:28Speaker 1: the thing about Tannehill, I just want to peel the
- 15:30Speaker 1: page back a little bit. He's really resurrected his career
- 15:33Speaker 1: in Tennessee. In twelve games in twenty nineteen plus a
- 15:36Speaker 1: full season in twenty twenty, Tannehill's put up some really
- 15:38Speaker 1: impressive numbers five to sixteen for six or seven hundred
- 15:42Speaker 1: and seventy six for six thousand, five hundred and sixty
- 15:45Speaker 1: one yards, fifty five touchdowns and only thirteen interceptions through
- 15:49Speaker 1: twenty eight games. So the guy is balling. He's taking
- 15:52Speaker 1: care of the rock. And the Titans had to make
- 15:54Speaker 1: a big move now. They drafted Marcus Mariotta number two overall.
- 15:58Speaker 1: He was the franchise quarterback. He was what was going
- 16:01Speaker 1: to save that franchise in a sense, and they had
- 16:03Speaker 1: to make a difficult decision when they brought tannellin. Tannehill
- 16:06Speaker 1: in to move on from Mariota, and honestly, since he's
- 16:09Speaker 1: taken over that job, he's never looked back. Twenty nineteen,
- 16:12Speaker 1: he led the Titans to DAYFC Championship game against the Chiefs.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Last year's solid campaign, they win the division. They lose
- 16:18Speaker 1: in the wild card round of the Ravens, but it's
- 16:21Speaker 1: another division title under his belt. And it'll be interesting
- 16:24Speaker 1: how he bounced his back of this week, because I've
- 16:27Speaker 1: had a lot of question marks about Ryan Tannehill, you know,
- 16:30Speaker 1: I that first year in twenty nineteen, I was kind
- 16:33Speaker 1: of like, well, they got Derreck Henry, they got eight year,
- 16:35Speaker 1: they got some dogs over there. They want to run
- 16:37Speaker 1: the ball, you know, I don't. I hate saying the
- 16:39Speaker 1: whole game manager thing, but in his sense, that's kind
- 16:41Speaker 1: of what I thought he was. And then he followed
- 16:44Speaker 1: up again last year or another solid year throughout the
- 16:47Speaker 1: entire season. So like I've kind of changed my tune
- 16:49Speaker 1: on Tannehill. I think he's a legit NFL quarterback. I
- 16:52Speaker 1: think he can do some things to hurt you. So
- 16:54Speaker 1: it'll be interesting to see how he bounces back against
- 16:56Speaker 1: the Seahawks defense, who looked great last Sunday. Man, I'm
- 16:59Speaker 1: not boy in, I'm not manny. I don't know what
- 17:03Speaker 1: it is. Maybe it's his style. Maybe it's the offense.
- 17:05Speaker 1: I know that Dereck Henry kind of loses things up
- 17:07Speaker 1: for him, but you look at the stats, there's no
- 17:09Speaker 1: denied over six thousand yards, fifty five touchdowns, thirteen interceptions,
- 17:12Speaker 1: and twenty eight games. Those are baller numbers. But for
- 17:15Speaker 1: some reason, maybe it's the styles. It's not my cup
- 17:17Speaker 1: of tea. I just don't know what it is, but
- 17:19Speaker 1: there's something about Ryan Tynehill that doesn't make me buy in.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I'm happy for his success. I love seeing an athlete's
- 17:24Speaker 1: ball out. Just hope he doesn't do it this week.
- 17:26Speaker 1: But yeah, let's see how he bounce it back. He's
- 17:27Speaker 1: got to be a quarterback, right, He's gotta be a leader.
- 17:29Speaker 1: He's got weapons, aj, He's got Julie over there. You
- 17:32Speaker 1: lose John lu Smith, but there are some weapons for
- 17:34Speaker 1: him to throw to. So let's see if he bounces back.
- 17:36Speaker 1: All right, Another matchup Derek Henry versus Seahawks front seven. Now,
- 17:41Speaker 1: Henry's coming off one of the best seasons in NFL
- 17:44Speaker 1: history at the running back position, at any position. Honestly,
- 17:46Speaker 1: running back is so hard to be successful lap everyone's
- 17:48Speaker 1: trying to get you. Rush for two thousand yards and
- 17:50Speaker 1: three hundred and seventy eight carries in seventeen touchdowns, had
- 17:54Speaker 1: ninety eight rushing first downs pretty much most of the time.
- 17:58Speaker 1: A third of the time when he touches is going
- 18:00Speaker 1: to be a first down. Now, twenty twenty was a
- 18:03Speaker 1: third and secument a season with a thousand yards rushing.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I remember when this young man came in the league.
- 18:07Speaker 1: He struggled a bed. I think he had like forty
- 18:09Speaker 1: yards one year, six hundred the next year, and that
- 18:11Speaker 1: third year boom, he just blew up. And watching him
- 18:14Speaker 1: on film, I've noticed he's a big dude. But if
- 18:16Speaker 1: you can get in the backfield on him, he doesn't
- 18:18Speaker 1: break those tackles a lot, right if he passes. If
- 18:21Speaker 1: he gets to the second level, when he gets a
- 18:22Speaker 1: full head of team, that's where he starts breaking tackles.
- 18:26Speaker 1: So if I'm the Seahawks, you gotta get into that backfield,
- 18:30Speaker 1: make him, make him move, corral him. Last week he
- 18:32Speaker 1: has seventeen character fifty eight yards, only three point four
- 18:35Speaker 1: average when it comes to running the rock. So that's
- 18:37Speaker 1: what they gotta do. That's what I've seen on film.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Get into the backfield, make him make decisions back there.
- 18:41Speaker 1: If he gets to that second level, I think we
- 18:43Speaker 1: still have good, good linebackers and Bobby and Brooks and
- 18:46Speaker 1: Cody and Darryl, but chances are he's gonna break some
- 18:50Speaker 1: big ones. Yeah. Man, he's a scary dude. If he's
- 18:53Speaker 1: coming at you north and south, it is watch out.
- 18:55Speaker 1: If you're a defensive back, watch out, because you better,
- 18:57Speaker 1: you better bring your lunch, paileyber to get low, and
- 18:59Speaker 1: you better just hang on for dear life because the
- 19:01Speaker 1: man is an absolute monster. But you mentioned it, I
- 19:03Speaker 1: mean typically with any running back, especially the ones that
- 19:06Speaker 1: are dynamic. If you get those shoulders turned to the sideline,
- 19:10Speaker 1: that's when the small guys like me can come up
- 19:12Speaker 1: and make a tackle man. But when you're going north
- 19:14Speaker 1: and south, that's when things gets scary. So and it's
- 19:17Speaker 1: a good sign because we saw what we saw from
- 19:19Speaker 1: the Seahawks front seven last week is they held that
- 19:21Speaker 1: Colts rushing attack one hundred and thirteen yards. Jonathan Taylor
- 19:24Speaker 1: and nihem Hines only combined for ninety yards, and they
- 19:27Speaker 1: had a pretty good rushing attack there. John Taylor had
- 19:30Speaker 1: about six hundred and yak yards last year. So the
- 19:32Speaker 1: Seahawks will need a similar performance against the Titans on
- 19:35Speaker 1: Sunday and in our next matchup. Really, the first two
- 19:39Speaker 1: matchup can't even get going without this one. It's in
- 19:41Speaker 1: the trenches, as Ray Roberts would love to talk about
- 19:44Speaker 1: when he's talking about snop bubbles and hitting and handing
- 19:47Speaker 1: all that stuff. But this Seahawks front seven against that
- 19:50Speaker 1: Titans on line, and we've talked about a little bit,
- 19:52Speaker 1: you know, Tannehill and Henry but Chandler Jones one of
- 19:56Speaker 1: the best, clearly one of the most underrated players the
- 20:00Speaker 1: defensive by the ball international football people kind of sleep
- 20:02Speaker 1: on that man. We know in this division because we
- 20:04Speaker 1: see him twice a year that he's that dude. With
- 20:06Speaker 1: that being said, man, no player can have five sacks
- 20:09Speaker 1: against you. That just cannot happen. That cannot happen at
- 20:13Speaker 1: any level. And the thing about it is the Cardinals
- 20:16Speaker 1: just made Hay in the backfield all day. And let
- 20:18Speaker 1: me just let's go through that first series against Arizona.
- 20:20Speaker 1: You want to talk about the tone being set on you.
- 20:23Speaker 1: First play the game, Chandler Jones Boom hits Taylor Lewin,
- 20:27Speaker 1: throws him aside, tackles Derreck Henry for a three yard loss.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Next play, J J. Watt, welcome to Arizona. He Boom swim,
- 20:34Speaker 1: moves past the right tackle, gets in the backfield, Boom
- 20:37Speaker 1: tackles Henry for a loss. Third play, Jones somehow comes
- 20:43Speaker 1: unblocked them. The next play blows my mind, smacks Tannehill fumble,
- 20:48Speaker 1: they lose the ball. Cardinals recover on the one yard line.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Boom touchdown. Now, all of a sudden, just like that,
- 20:53Speaker 1: you got hit in the face or down seven nothing
- 20:55Speaker 1: on three plays. So with that being said, this offensive
- 20:59Speaker 1: line obviously was very good last year. They're running back
- 21:03Speaker 1: went for over two thousand yards. Can you count on
- 21:06Speaker 1: both hands how many running backs have done that in
- 21:08Speaker 1: the history of the National Football League. So they obviously
- 21:10Speaker 1: have some dudes that can play. But one thing we
- 21:13Speaker 1: know is Arizonas set the tone against them. They are
- 21:16Speaker 1: more physical, they're active in the backfield, and they're gonna
- 21:18Speaker 1: need to do something different this week or it's gonna
- 21:20Speaker 1: be another long day for that offense. It's gonna be
- 21:23Speaker 1: another long day. They got to fix a communication on
- 21:25Speaker 1: the offensive line. Maybe it's alignment of signmon who knows.
- 21:29Speaker 1: That's why you have seven days to prepare to see
- 21:31Speaker 1: if they get it right all right? Next matchup DJ
- 21:34Speaker 1: Read and Trey Flowers versus A. J. Brown and Julio Jones.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Now these two preseason rankings, I saw a list where
- 21:41Speaker 1: they are the number one or number two receiver duel
- 21:44Speaker 1: in the league. In my opinion, I'm still gonna take
- 21:46Speaker 1: meccabin locket, but you cannot disrespect these two. A J.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Brown as a riding star of Julio's been in the
- 21:51Speaker 1: game for a while. He had his debut with the Titans,
- 21:54Speaker 1: had three recessions for only twenty nine yards, but ten targets,
- 21:57Speaker 1: so That just sounds like chemistry to me. They need
- 21:59Speaker 1: to work on their instry and get on the same page.
- 22:01Speaker 1: In twenty twenty, played seven games, but still had seven
- 22:04Speaker 1: hundred yards and fifty one receptions and three touchdowns. That's
- 22:06Speaker 1: the first time in six seasons that he did not
- 22:09Speaker 1: go over a thousand yards. Now he was banged up
- 22:12Speaker 1: a hamstring injury. He's healthy. Now they're gonna find ways
- 22:15Speaker 1: to use him. They're gonna find ways to use a J. Brown. Now,
- 22:18Speaker 1: a J. Brown he had a thousand yards last year,
- 22:21Speaker 1: seventy receptions for one thousand and seventy five and eleven touchdowns.
- 22:25Speaker 1: So you look at the statue, you look at the statue,
- 22:26Speaker 1: you look at the film, you see these two when
- 22:28Speaker 1: you're like, yeah, I don't care who's the quarterback. These
- 22:32Speaker 1: guys could be one of the best duos in the league.
- 22:34Speaker 1: But there's gonna take some time from them to figure
- 22:37Speaker 1: out how to get Julio Jones in this offense because
- 22:40Speaker 1: this is a run first offense. Play ash and passed
- 22:42Speaker 1: down the field with Julio Jones and A J. Brown.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Do you feel like they would have to start doing
- 22:47Speaker 1: some traditional dropbacks and let these guys work one on
- 22:49Speaker 1: one on these dbs and these safeties. So I'm I'm
- 22:52Speaker 1: not saying after one week that it is a bus.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Julio Jones ain't gonna be nothing. AJ is not gonna
- 22:58Speaker 1: do anything, No, sir, I know better than that. This
- 22:59Speaker 1: is than fail. Those dudes can ball, but it's gonna
- 23:02Speaker 1: take some time for them to get going. I just
- 23:03Speaker 1: hope it isn't this week. Oh absolutely, And DJ re
- 23:06Speaker 1: Trey Flowers, so you got your work cut out for you, man,
- 23:09Speaker 1: And they played well in my opinion last week. I
- 23:11Speaker 1: mean some balls were completed, obviously, Flowers said the one
- 23:14Speaker 1: ball that was caught on him for a touchdown. So
- 23:17Speaker 1: those a couple of things you didn't like, but overall,
- 23:19Speaker 1: they eliminated the big play. If they kept people in front.
- 23:22Speaker 1: When guys are in front of them, they tackle them.
- 23:23Speaker 1: They got down. And the number one thing is keeping
- 23:25Speaker 1: guys in front of you. That's my number one thing.
- 23:27Speaker 1: That's pizza one thing. Destroy the deeps, you know, protect
- 23:30Speaker 1: the football. So those two guys had a decent start
- 23:33Speaker 1: to the season. I'm really excited to see how they're
- 23:35Speaker 1: gonna match up this week, especially because we know how
- 23:38Speaker 1: much we're gonna have to commit to stopping the run.
- 23:41Speaker 1: The Seahawks or that box is gonna be full. The
- 23:44Speaker 1: Titans are going to force you to say, hey, you're
- 23:45Speaker 1: gonna need to put eight guys in the box. You're
- 23:47Speaker 1: gonna need to tackle. Jamal Adams is gonna be active.
- 23:49Speaker 1: It's gonna be around. So the corners are gonna be
- 23:51Speaker 1: left on some islands on Sunday. We know that that's
- 23:53Speaker 1: just gonna be a product of what's going on, especially
- 23:55Speaker 1: when we're bringing pressure. So they're gonna have to step
- 23:57Speaker 1: up and make big plays. And it's a tough matchup.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Like you said, they might have had a slow start
- 24:02Speaker 1: last week, but these two dudes, Julia Jones, Hall of Famer,
- 24:05Speaker 1: these dudes can play. So I'm really interested to see
- 24:08Speaker 1: how DJ read and Trey Flowers respond. And I'm also
- 24:11Speaker 1: interested to see if anyone else is gonna get um
- 24:14Speaker 1: any burn on Sunday. You know, Sidney Jones has another
- 24:17Speaker 1: week in this defense learn and stuff, so maybe he
- 24:19Speaker 1: gets a little active. John Reid, you had bless Austin,
- 24:22Speaker 1: so we'll see. I think I think the thing about
- 24:25Speaker 1: that secondary room right now, specifically at corner, is that
- 24:28Speaker 1: competition is always going to be open man, You're you're
- 24:30Speaker 1: earning that, you're earning that check. Rent is due every
- 24:34Speaker 1: single day here at the vMac. So it'll be interesting
- 24:37Speaker 1: to see what happens. But I'm looking forward to it.
- 24:39Speaker 1: I think DJ Red and Trey Flowers stepped up last
- 24:41Speaker 1: week and they're gonna have their work cut out for
- 24:43Speaker 1: him on Sunday. But I'm expecting big things out of
- 24:45Speaker 1: those guys and the last one. Man, it's not really
- 24:49Speaker 1: it's a matchup where I just put it on here.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Russell Wilson, Shane Waldron Verse, everybody. Okay, it's that new offense. Yes,
- 24:55Speaker 1: it's that new offense. We got to see it a
- 24:57Speaker 1: little bit last week, and I'm still I said this
- 25:00Speaker 1: on the Recap podcast, I'm Juice bump Man. Everything looks easy,
- 25:04Speaker 1: everything looks smooth. There's outlet passes that tight ends are
- 25:07Speaker 1: being utilized all over the field. Russell Wilson has been balling.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I love how it was everything against what a usually
- 25:14Speaker 1: typical September Seahawks game is slow start, you know, figuring
- 25:19Speaker 1: out lay, furious comeback. No, they were in control the
- 25:21Speaker 1: whole time and didn't Honestly, when you watch them, they
- 25:25Speaker 1: did what they did. Didn't feel like they broke a sweat.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Now you know, you come in for a recovery workout.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Maybe you had a long weekend and party or doing
- 25:32Speaker 1: whatever you're doing, and it's like, I'm just in here
- 25:33Speaker 1: to get a couple of things. Job a couple of miles,
- 25:35Speaker 1: get a couple of reps on the bench. That's what
- 25:37Speaker 1: it felt like. Light work for the Seahawks offense. So
- 25:40Speaker 1: I'm excited to see it. Bump. What I want to
- 25:43Speaker 1: ask you is, what do you think What new wrinkles
- 25:45Speaker 1: do you think we're gonna start seeing from this offense?
- 25:47Speaker 1: We kind of saw last week. We're gonna run the football,
- 25:50Speaker 1: We're still gonna take you over the top with Lockett
- 25:53Speaker 1: and Matt Caffine. We're gonna introduce the tight ends. What else?
- 25:56Speaker 1: What other wrinkles you think we're gonna see out of
- 25:57Speaker 1: this offense? I think we're gonna see more looks off
- 26:01Speaker 1: the jet suite because they've introduced that to the league,
- 26:03Speaker 1: put it on film. Look, you have to prepare for this.
- 26:05Speaker 1: They showed it, they faked it, they gave it. Um.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I think we're gonna see some plays off the screen.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Now we saw a tight end screen now I see
- 26:11Speaker 1: them faking the tight end screen and going up top
- 26:13Speaker 1: on the opposite side or swinging it back to the
- 26:14Speaker 1: opposite side. Um, I see double moves. You know we saw.
- 26:18Speaker 1: I already saw a locket with a double move that
- 26:20Speaker 1: corner post and at sixty nine yard touchdown and he
- 26:21Speaker 1: had from Russell Wilson. But because they were successful in
- 26:24Speaker 1: the quick game, now that sets up the double moves.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Guys are gonna be able to bite. Um I see
- 26:29Speaker 1: some movement. I don't. I don't think we saw Russell
- 26:31Speaker 1: Wilson get outside the pocket much. I still think that's
- 26:33Speaker 1: gonna be part of his game. And also, what I
- 26:38Speaker 1: liked about last week is that even when the offense
- 26:41Speaker 1: didn't score right, they had to punt it out on
- 26:43Speaker 1: downs or whatever. I wasn't frustrating. I wasn't like, oh
- 26:47Speaker 1: my god, what are we doing. It was just like, Okay,
- 26:48Speaker 1: those guys made a play. You know, this is NFL.
- 26:50Speaker 1: You're not gonna score every single drive. M So I
- 26:53Speaker 1: expect to see more of that. I expect to see
- 26:55Speaker 1: plays that are connected and that makes sense and that
- 26:57Speaker 1: set up the next play. There was a heasiveness to
- 27:00Speaker 1: this offense that we haven't seen in a while. Yeah, man,
- 27:03Speaker 1: it's it's exciting to see in the fact that it's
- 27:05Speaker 1: only been one week because other teams obviously they got
- 27:08Speaker 1: a week to prepare, We've put stuff out on film,
- 27:10Speaker 1: they have stuff to prepare against. But now that Shane
- 27:13Speaker 1: Waldron can go that next level when everyone talks about
- 27:15Speaker 1: We've heard Pete talk about We've heard Russ talk about it,
- 27:17Speaker 1: We've heard Chain talk about the cohesiveness as you mentioned,
- 27:19Speaker 1: and just that they're on the same page. Russell has
- 27:21Speaker 1: all the freedom in the world to get us in
- 27:23Speaker 1: the right play, which he's done over his entire career,
- 27:25Speaker 1: but it seems it's been accelerated this year. So I'm
- 27:28Speaker 1: incredibly excited to see what we can do. But Bump,
- 27:32Speaker 1: how are we gonna beat these Titans? Path to victory?
- 27:37Speaker 1: At the forty five, waits for the snaff, Michael Vickson
- 27:40Speaker 1: puts it down. That kick is away and that kick
- 27:43Speaker 1: is goun It's gun. It's a pass to victory. I'm
- 27:49Speaker 1: hawk talk, man. I'm gonna call myself out real quick.
- 27:51Speaker 1: I said, how are we going to beat the Titans
- 27:53Speaker 1: on Sunday? I'm not putting on pads, I'm not doing
- 27:56Speaker 1: anything on Sunday. I'll be sitting in the radio booths
- 27:58Speaker 1: a correction on that. How are the Seahawks gonna beat
- 28:02Speaker 1: the Titans this Sunday? And it's gonna get started with
- 28:05Speaker 1: getting after Ryan Tannehill in that offensive line. Tannehill and
- 28:08Speaker 1: that old line struggled last week. The Cardinals show that
- 28:11Speaker 1: they set the tone on them early and often, and
- 28:13Speaker 1: the Seahawks got to do the same. They got to
- 28:15Speaker 1: dominate the line of scrimmage. Impose your will. That's what
- 28:18Speaker 1: they did last weekend to Colts. It's what Cardinals did
- 28:20Speaker 1: against Titans last week. And in order to do that,
- 28:23Speaker 1: they got to continue with you know, money, Rashim Green,
- 28:27Speaker 1: all those guys up front were concredibly active. I don't
- 28:30Speaker 1: want to see more of that this week. And if
- 28:31Speaker 1: you do that, it's gonna be huge in this game
- 28:33Speaker 1: on Sunday. They gotta stop Barrick Henry. He can't not
- 28:37Speaker 1: get going early. He's going to get his right. He's
- 28:40Speaker 1: gonna have one or two runs that just let you
- 28:43Speaker 1: know that he is Derick Henry. He's one of the
- 28:45Speaker 1: best in the game. But he can't go wild on you.
- 28:47Speaker 1: He can't have one hundred and seventy five yards two
- 28:49Speaker 1: hundred yards and this godnuts. You gotta get in the
- 28:51Speaker 1: backfield and contain them. Also, you gotta contain Julio Jones
- 28:55Speaker 1: and A J. Brown. These guys are big, they're fast,
- 28:57Speaker 1: they want to get behind you, they want to make
- 29:00Speaker 1: the big play. Forced them to take the underneath stuff
- 29:02Speaker 1: rally to the football. Offensively, it's all about stopping Derek
- 29:06Speaker 1: Henry and controlling Julio Jones and A J. Brown. No
- 29:09Speaker 1: big players from those guys. Absolutely, keep them in front,
- 29:12Speaker 1: Keep them in front, man, And we just mentioned to
