- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguars fans.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome in to Dove All Daily Prisoner by Jim Jag.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Aluga.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for being here Friday.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: August first Jaguars verse Jaguars mock game in the stadium is in the books.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: There was a lot of fans out there.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: There was a lot of fun.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: The team came out around six PM to start doing warm-ups, doing some positional drills and things of that nature, and then around seven PM to eight, thirty PM.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: There was a mock game.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars versus Jaguars, and we're going to recap that right here right now.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: really appreciate y'all be in here if you enjoy the content please like and subscribe let me know if you were at the game how you felt about it in the comment section below how you're feeling about training camp so far so far excuse me and obviously we are just over a week away from Jaguar's preseason game number one so very exciting times um getting into this recap Travis Hunter started the day and till
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: He did not finish the day until.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: But yes, he did start with the offense.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get into how he performed.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: Just a couple notes, Eric Rarmstedt was not dressed to play today.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, they've not said anything about any injury with Eric Rarmstedt until I think there might actually, they said something about like a lower back this evening.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what to think about the fact that he's really not been practicing very much in a team setting.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: They've said it's a veteran ramp up.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think there might be a little
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: back situation, but definitely something to keep an eye on moving forward.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars defensive tackle position without Armstead and Mason Smith who's still on the pub that has a little bit of an issue right now.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Another issue there was way too many penalties in this mock game on both sides.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: It was most of the practice.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was the Jaguars ones versus the Jaguars two.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: So the starting offense versus the backup defense, the backup offense versus the starting defense,
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't love when it's that much like most of the practice is that because
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: You know, iron sharpens iron, you want to be seeing more of good versus good than your starters versus your backups.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know your starters are better than your backups, right?
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: At least they shouldn't be.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: And that was the case tonight.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: And I actually don't even have the final score, which is pretty hilarious.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think maybe it was twenty-four to nine.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: Again, wasn't really paying attention to the score, was really paying attention to what was going on, played a play.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: But again, one versus two's for most of the night, you had a first quarter and then a second quarter and then it got close to the end of the second quarter and then they wanted to adjust the time clock and all that.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: So it wasn't like really, really a first half.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was a real like normal first quarter, except the starters came out pretty early for the Jaguar's offense.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: and then second quarter they kind of adjusted tweaked did some different things like they did at the end of the uh... scrimmage mock game whatever they did uh... one one minute thirty-second row end of half drill to try to simulate trying to go and get some points and that actually was one v ones which is good to see and we'll take a look at that for sure uh... one thing i'm concerned with right now i don't think the jackwares have a
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Great plan at backup quarterback.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: I know Nick Mullins has experience in this type of system, experience with Grant Udinsky.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars might should look for a backup quarterback.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think they should also be potentially in the market for a defensive tackle.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: Just if Eric Armstrong says not going to be playing, I don't know what the deal is, and who knows when Mason Smith will be back, not supposed to be long-term or anything like that.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: But just from what I'm seeing right now,
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: Those are two things that I would be potentially looking at for the Jag wars.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I usually run through team, but we'll start with Trevor Lawrence and by virtue of starting with Trevor Lawrence also get into what we saw from Travis Hunter.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: So Trevor Lawrence completed three different passes to Travis Hunter.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: All of them were positive place.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: There was one that was a very short pass.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: You might call it a screen pass.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: And Travis probably got like seven eight yards on that one.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: He had another one where he got wide open against
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: Ventral Miller and coverage which is no surprise he left him in the dust and then another one where He kind of split the defense and in between the flat defender and the safety found some space and Trevor Lawrence delivered it to him in the red zone To get the jacks really close to scoring so Travis Hunter had a really good day offensively catching passes from Trevor Lawrence the only play and
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: or the only target that Trevor Lawrence had to drive his honor that was not completed was in the red zone kind of a crossing going across the field, ventral miller.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: I read it very well and was in position to get a pass break up.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: So that was a good play by Ventrell.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: Probably Trevor could have thrown it elsewhere.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think Tank Biggsby was open on that play.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Biggsby wouldn't have scored, but certainly was in position to at least catch the ball hopefully.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe now as I'm saying that you can understand why Trevor was like, I'll just take my chances with Travis versus throwing to a wide open tank Biggsby.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you know you know,
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: No shade at tank.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's a good football player, but not the, not been the most reliable past catcher during his short time in the NFL NFL so far.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence finished the day, twenty of twenty nine with three touchdown passes, one interception, the interception.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: I can see why initially maybe you were throwing the ball where you threw it, but McPherson dropped very quickly and I could tell as the ball was released that it was probably going to at least get broken up if not intercepted.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: And McPherson gave him credit.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: He made a nice play on the interception at the goal line.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: Another thing you could definitely say, the Jaguars did a decent job in the red zone, but their war points left on the table and that's something the Jaguars have struggled with dating back to like, you know, three, four years ago.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: So continuing to improve in the red zone is a big emphasis, I think.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: While there were points left on the board, they did get to the red zone several other times and put points on the board.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: So it wasn't horrible.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: But again, you got to remember, this was the Jaguar starting offense for the Jaguar's backup defense until that final drive, which was the end of the half.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: And that was one versus one's.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: And the Jaguar's offense looked really good in that setting.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence looked really good in that setting.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: The end of the half went like this.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence completed a pass to Brian Thomas, Jr.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: for a first down.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: Then Tyson Campbell picked up a passenger appearance against the army brown down the field.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: The army had a strong day.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about him as well.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence then had two straight completions to Britain's strange.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Then he had a throwaway where a duly winger got immediate pressure.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: Then Jarring and Jones had a pass break up versus the army brown in the end zone.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: third and five touchdown to Britain's strange from Trevor Lawrence.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: That was a really good ending to the practice again against the ones.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: So Lawrence, I thought, had a very good day.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: Very good practice, if you will.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: He had a lot of connections with Diami Brown.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he had one, two, three,
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: for.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think he had four completions to deami round plus the past interference on Tyson Campbell down the field that was a big play for the offense.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: So that was a very good practice for deami round who has stacked good practices like three straight days.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: Britain's strange had a very good practice.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: He
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: He got wide open, similar to how he did a couple days ago, kind of at the second level of the defense was wide open, close to the sideline opposite sideline.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: It seemed like a similar concept, and Trevor was able to find him immediately.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: That was really nice to see from Britain's training.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: As I mentioned, on the final drive, Britain's training had three catches in hurry-up situations when you're just trying to get first down, trying to move the ball.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: and pick up an important score at the end of the half.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: So that was great to see.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: Deontrade Prince did have a pass break up versus Brian Thomas Jr.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: early on.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: But after that, Brian Thomas Jr.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: that connection with Trevor Lawrence was lights out.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Thomas Jr.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: had two touchdown catches in this one from Trevor.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: He ended up having one, two, three, four, five,
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Six catches, I believe.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: two of them for touchdowns.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: So he had a very nice impressive practice.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: Had had some contested catches, had some plays where he was very, very open, had some nice route running and footwork on the sideline.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: So this was a really good practice for Brian Thomas Jr.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: under the lights in front of the fans and it did actually get dark out there because they went till about eight, thirty.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: So great practice for Brian Thomas Jr.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: The Army Brown has well, Travis Hunter, so your top three receivers looking really good, Britain's strange looking really good.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, again, a lot of this was against the Jaguar's backup, so maybe you take it with a little bit of a grain of salt, but at the same time, this is not a trend of one practice.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: Pretty much since I would say, last since Sunday, so you had Sunday practice,
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, the last five practices, the Jaguar's passing attack has been very strong.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: And that's definitely encouraging.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: Defensively, we saw, as I mentioned,
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter getting on the defensive side of the ball, excuse me, it's been a long day.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter getting on the defensive side of the ball and wasn't targeted, wasn't tested very much, didn't get out there at ton, but he did get that, get out there on defensive and looked good.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: He always looked smart, fluid, and extremely capable, just like high IQ,
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: Understanding leverage, understanding route concepts, how they're attacking all that stuff.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think playing both sides of the wall actually helps with that a fair amount.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: And he's just a really smart hardworking, energetic, high endurance player.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: So good for him being able to practice on both sides today.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: Again, defensively, I thought Josh Heinz Allen, Trayvon Walker, they were dominant against backup lineman.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: They absolutely were.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: They had great performances.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: Jack Kaiser up and down a little bit, but had a really nice run stuff.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: Jacoinden Jackson, he had several carries on the day.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: Oh gosh, I got to get to this book.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Jacoinden Jackson first, he had several carries on the day.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't make as much of them as I hoped.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: There wasn't a lot of room to work with, but Jacoinden Jackson has had a really solid week overall.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: And tonight wasn't his best effort, but he did have a nice catch, and he was fighting for yards, but there just weren't very many yards to pick up again.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: He was going against the Jaguar's ones, and he was getting blocked.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: for by Jaguar's backup, offensive linemen.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: So that kind of, you know, put two and two together, you're not going to have a great performance for Jackson in that setting.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: But Jordan Lewis, the interception of training camp, it was unbelievable.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: And this is the type of play he's consistently been making in the flat.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: The quarterback thinks he has a check down and Jordan Lewis
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: Closes on it insanely fast, diving in our section.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's made this play three different times in camp.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: Two of them before were past breakups.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: This one was a huge interception.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: And so Jordan Lewis is having a lot of fun defending the flat.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: Good for him, right?
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: Cam little he was two of two on his field goals made all of his extra points.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: He made his second field goal from fifty eight yards out and it was good from easily sixty five.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think that overall.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars run defense was was better than the Jaguars run game but.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: That could be expected a little bit.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: when you talk about the ones versus the two's ones defensively versus the two's offensively tank bigs be he had some decent runs going on a little bit later on early on I thought that the Jaguar's number two defense was actually playing pretty well against the run
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: but they were not able to defend the past.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: As I mentioned, too many penalties.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: That was something I did not want to see.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: Lots of false start penalties, some off-sides penalties, passenger appearances, defensive holding.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: There was just a lot of penalties.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: Joshua Ciffus, he had a decent run, a couple of catches late and he had a great catch down the field of advertising Campbell.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: So he's someone who continues to look to me like he's going to make this roster.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: Combs the rookie undrafted linebacker, number fifty.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: He made a pass break up and then had a tackle at the line.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: He is someone who has stood out to me a little bit.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: Devin Lloyd had a would-be sack.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: So you've seen the Jaguars linebackers off-ball linebackers get some sacks.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: Lee Quint Allen had some nice plays in the past game, which that's going to be part of his MO if he's going to have an impact on this team.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: The rookie running back at a Syracuse seven-thrown pick.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: He also had a goal line rushing touchdown.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: So that was good to see from him being able to punch it in from short.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Jarian Jones had a very good practice overall.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: Had a couple past breakups.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: He continues to show out.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_00]: I always thought that he should be the guy.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: If Travis Hunter is not on the field with Tyson Campbell as outside corners, I always thought that you know, it should be Jarian Jones.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously the Buster Brown injury has kind of
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: thrusted that upon the jackwars but i think overall that is who you want out there um that'll pretty much do it uh for this for this recap of the jackwars mock game.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence looking good.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: his receivers looking really good.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: Travis honor.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: deami brown.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Thomas Jr.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: britain strange.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: uh there's the
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: Running back in the past game, I think, are doing a good job, which is important for this type of offense, certainly, and the defense, Trayvon Walker, Josh Hines Allen, pretty much unblockable.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_00]: Lots of plays being made around the field by different guys.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what y'all think in the comment section below.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe, and y'all have a good one.
