- 4:31Speaker 4: How are you?
- 4:32Speaker 3: I am great.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I can't complain, I tell you, I'm just reminded. I
- 4:37Speaker 2: remember my mom used to tell me. She said, you
- 4:39Speaker 2: know what that it's just like using a restaurant on yourself,
- 4:42Speaker 2: she says.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Don't nobody to feel that with you?
- 4:44Speaker 2: She said, complaining and being mad. She said, hey, baby,
- 4:47Speaker 2: don't nobody feel that with you? She says, the other
- 4:49Speaker 2: person is going on and doing what they doing, and
- 4:52Speaker 2: you are mad. So hey that that thing has stuck
- 4:56Speaker 2: with me.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And I tell you it's so easy for me to
- 5:00Speaker 3: forgive because of that. I don't want to carry that
- 5:03Speaker 3: around with me.
- 5:04Speaker 2: So tonight, I'm excited to have you in the studio,
- 5:09Speaker 2: excited to have you in the building. You are one
- 5:11Speaker 2: of the amazing queens that are part of the one
- 5:14Speaker 2: hundred Authors to Watch in twenty twenty five. So we
- 5:18Speaker 2: want to get a chance to find.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Out a little bit about.
- 5:21Speaker 2: You, who you are, what you're doing, and how we
- 5:26Speaker 2: can support those things. So if you would the floridshowrs, Okay,
- 5:30Speaker 2: thank you so much, Queen Angela.
- 5:32Speaker 5: I'm so happy to be here this evening and giving
- 5:36Speaker 5: me the opportunity to be able to speak on this
- 5:38Speaker 5: platform and talk about some of the amazing things that
- 5:42Speaker 5: I'm doing, as well as being just part of the
- 5:45Speaker 5: amazing thing that you're doing in all these other fabulous authors.
- 5:49Speaker 5: So my name is Safana Shepherd and I am a mom,
- 5:55Speaker 5: I'm a grandma, and I'm also an author of three books,
- 6:01Speaker 5: a poetry poetry book, a anthology I'm part of as well
- 6:06Speaker 5: as a partial memoir where I talk about my journey
- 6:10Speaker 5: from once living in shelters with my family to overseeing
- 6:14Speaker 5: shelters in New York City.
- 6:17Speaker 4: I am a certified life coach as.
- 6:19Speaker 5: Well recently trained, and I currently my nine to five.
- 6:24Speaker 5: I work for the Department of Health as well as
- 6:26Speaker 5: the Department of Aging, helping the seniors, seniors who are
- 6:32Speaker 5: struggling with Alzheimer's and dementia but working with the caregivers
- 6:36Speaker 5: who support them.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Wow, Wow, amazing.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Definitely takes a special person to do the things that
- 6:47Speaker 2: here are doing. I trust me it takes a special person.
- 6:52Speaker 2: You you touched on a couple of things that are
- 6:54Speaker 2: near and dear to my heart. I am passionate about
- 6:58Speaker 2: my elderly and my babies. Yeah you my age. I'm like, okay,
- 7:05Speaker 2: you can feel for yourself, but I'm passionate about them
- 7:07Speaker 2: babies and I'm passionate about the elderly. So you definitely
- 7:13Speaker 2: touched on some things that are amazing.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Your journey. Just hearing just that snit bit.
- 7:19Speaker 2: It's truly amazing, and a lot of people can glean
- 7:24Speaker 2: from your experience and the things that you have been through.
- 7:27Speaker 2: So definitely, I look forward to sharing more because I
- 7:32Speaker 2: know this time we have here today is not going
- 7:35Speaker 2: to be enough. So I'm excited. I'm excited, Like I mean,
- 7:39Speaker 2: you just touched on a lot of things, and I
- 7:42Speaker 2: know that just getting to know you over this platform
- 7:44Speaker 2: is going to be amazing.
- 7:47Speaker 3: I love the.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Fact that you were able to take your experience, take
- 7:52Speaker 2: your journey, and turn it into a career, and then
- 7:56Speaker 2: take it and be able to give back not just
- 8:00Speaker 2: as a job, but as an outlet of.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Getting through it. You know people, you.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Know, some people get through it sometimes and they never
- 8:12Speaker 2: want to share the journey. So I thank you for
- 8:16Speaker 2: that because people seeing you know how you got through it,
- 8:21Speaker 2: and knowing that they can't get through it, it.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Is so amazing.
- 8:26Speaker 2: So if you would, I want to know a little bit,
- 8:29Speaker 2: but I know you can I know you can't go
- 8:31Speaker 2: all into it, but just a little bit of what
- 8:34Speaker 2: this journey has been like for you becoming an author.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Has there been any challenges with becoming an author?
- 8:44Speaker 5: Absolutely, there's been challenges. I think the biggest challenge for
- 8:47Speaker 5: me was more in marketing the book once the book
- 8:52Speaker 5: came out, and really promoting it, and of course family
- 8:56Speaker 5: and friends supported, but me really wanting to get the
- 9:01Speaker 5: book out and get the message out to more people
- 9:04Speaker 5: that didn't know me because I think the story is
- 9:07Speaker 5: so important. And the people that did, my friends and
- 9:11Speaker 5: my family that did read the book, you know, and
- 9:14Speaker 5: then some people that weren't so close to me, you know,
- 9:17Speaker 5: they told me that they had went through similar situations
- 9:20Speaker 5: or something in a book really touched them, and that
- 9:23Speaker 5: they didn't realize that someone else actually had this journey
- 9:26Speaker 5: as well. So the challenge was really figuring out how
- 9:31Speaker 5: I can get this story out there, whether it's in
- 9:34Speaker 5: the book, yes, but promoting it and maybe even just
- 9:38Speaker 5: speaking about my experience, which I don't think it's unique.
- 9:44Speaker 5: I think a lot of women go through this, and
- 9:48Speaker 5: just for me, being able to talk about it. You
- 9:50Speaker 5: know briefly that I when I originally wrote the book
- 9:54Speaker 5: it's called Protection from the Storm, that's not the book
- 9:57Speaker 5: that I wanted to write. I wanted to write something
- 9:59Speaker 5: told different. And a friend of mine, she has a
- 10:04Speaker 5: publication company called Smart Girl Media, and we were talking
- 10:07Speaker 5: about it and she was asking me what I wanted
- 10:08Speaker 5: to do, and I told her what I wanted to
- 10:10Speaker 5: write about, and she said, well, I'm not really sure
- 10:13Speaker 5: if that's the way we should go. She was giving
- 10:14Speaker 5: me a little guidance, but she said, tell me a
- 10:16Speaker 5: little bit more about you know, your story and some
- 10:19Speaker 5: things that maybe other people don't know.
- 10:20Speaker 4: And I just started talking.
- 10:22Speaker 5: And I started talking while I was in the shelter
- 10:24Speaker 5: with my family and you know, I did this And
- 10:26Speaker 5: she said, wait a minute. She said, do you realize
- 10:28Speaker 5: what you just said?
- 10:29Speaker 4: And I'm like what?
- 10:31Speaker 5: And she said, you were in a shelter with your children,
- 10:34Speaker 5: with your family, and now you are overseeing seven shelters
- 10:39Speaker 5: in New York City. She said, do you realize what
- 10:42Speaker 5: that story is? And I'm like, in my mind, I'm like, uh, okay.
- 10:47Speaker 5: But for me, it was more like that's my story,
- 10:51Speaker 5: that's my journey. I went through it, I got through it,
- 10:54Speaker 5: but I wasn't thinking about the power in that. And
- 10:57Speaker 5: so once she actually helped me to see that, and
- 11:00Speaker 5: once I started going through the process and writing about
- 11:02Speaker 5: it and remembering, and it made me cry, like I
- 11:06Speaker 5: was just like wow, like this is so powerful, and
- 11:09Speaker 5: realizing how God was deal with me every step of
- 11:12Speaker 5: the way and if it wasn't for my faith and
- 11:14Speaker 5: it wasn't for him.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Because people were often ask.
- 11:17Speaker 5: Me, how did you do all of that, and I'd
- 11:18Speaker 5: be like, oh, I don't know, I just did it. No,
- 11:21Speaker 5: God helped me through that. He saw me through that,
- 11:24Speaker 5: and this is what I was supposed to doow.
- 11:30Speaker 2: And you say that, and you say New York, and
- 11:33Speaker 2: then I'm like, okay. I know a young lady that
- 11:37Speaker 2: lives in New York that also had a similar experience.
- 11:41Speaker 3: It's yours.
- 11:43Speaker 2: I happened to meet her on social media. We were
- 11:48Speaker 2: on the same podcast network, and in the midst of
- 11:54Speaker 2: her going through I find out she was going through
- 11:58Speaker 2: but she experienced the same thing. But I'm glad she
- 12:01Speaker 2: was too able to get through because now she's in
- 12:05Speaker 2: her own apartment, she is doing she's doing amazing. So
- 12:10Speaker 2: you know, people need to hear those stories because imagine
- 12:13Speaker 2: how many other people are in New York or in Philadelphia,
- 12:18Speaker 2: or in Atlanta or in these major cities that are
- 12:22Speaker 2: experiencing the same thing and think that they are alone,
- 12:26Speaker 2: that there's nobody else that has been through that are
- 12:30Speaker 2: going through that, when there's other people going through the
- 12:33Speaker 2: same thing. But now that you have been through it,
- 12:38Speaker 2: you know you were able to get through it. So
- 12:41Speaker 2: now it's a question for a lot of people is
- 12:45Speaker 2: how did you get through it?
- 12:46Speaker 3: You know, what were the steps?
- 12:49Speaker 2: And I'm sure you share that and everything that you do,
- 12:54Speaker 2: everything that you put out every time you get a
- 12:57Speaker 2: chance to speak. I'm sure that you're sharing these things.
- 13:00Speaker 2: But those are things that you know, people want to know.
- 13:03Speaker 2: You know, Okay, I see she went through these things.
- 13:05Speaker 2: How did she get through that? And how were you
- 13:09Speaker 2: able to because you're a beautiful young lady, how were
- 13:12Speaker 2: you able to maintain and not look like what you've
- 13:16Speaker 2: been through with people like But I tell people now,
- 13:20Speaker 2: I don't even say I'm glad I don't look like
- 13:23Speaker 2: what I've been through.
- 13:24Speaker 3: You know what I say? Now? I say, you know
- 13:27Speaker 3: what it took that to make me look like this.
- 13:31Speaker 2: It took that to get me to look like this,
- 13:34Speaker 2: because guess what if I.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Had not went through it, what I look like this?
- 13:39Speaker 5: That's what I like.
- 13:40Speaker 2: What I look what would I be able to say that?
- 13:44Speaker 2: You know, but no, I'm supposed to look like this
- 13:47Speaker 2: because this is what getting through it looks like.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Yo, this is what getting through it look like. So
- 13:56Speaker 3: now you tell people.
- 13:57Speaker 2: You can tell people, this is what it looks like,
- 14:00Speaker 2: so you can you can encourage them. That can be
- 14:03Speaker 2: your encouragement to if if you want to look like
- 14:09Speaker 2: you've been through the fire but not being.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Burnt, or.
- 14:14Speaker 3: This is how you do it, This is how you
- 14:16Speaker 3: do it.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Look just listening to your story, it's really just just
- 14:22Speaker 2: it just did something to me, Like you don't know
- 14:27Speaker 2: how many bits and pieces of the things that you've
- 14:30Speaker 2: shared that I've experienced.
- 14:34Speaker 3: I been home.
- 14:36Speaker 2: With a couple of times. You know, I've had to
- 14:39Speaker 2: start over a couple of times.
- 14:40Speaker 3: You know, I.
- 14:43Speaker 2: And a lot of people don't even know this, but
- 14:45Speaker 2: when I left my domestic violence, when I left that
- 14:50Speaker 2: and I was told that, you know, we're gonna help you.
- 14:52Speaker 2: We're gonna do this. Come on over here, and we're
- 14:54Speaker 2: gonna do this. People don't know that I slept in
- 14:58Speaker 2: my car in a parking lot for several nights because
- 15:03Speaker 2: someone told me that would be a safe haven, that
- 15:05Speaker 2: that I would be okay there. You know, didn't worry
- 15:08Speaker 2: about putting me up. But it was God that allowed
- 15:10Speaker 2: me to get through that. You know, I'm grateful, you know,
- 15:14Speaker 2: to even be here. You know, who would have known
- 15:16Speaker 2: that I would be able to share that, not if
- 15:19Speaker 2: you had not been on here today, even mentioning that
- 15:22Speaker 2: I probably not even because I'm not mentioned. I don't
- 15:24Speaker 2: even know if I mentioned it before, because my journey
- 15:27Speaker 2: has just been so much and just being able to
- 15:31Speaker 2: talk about it.
- 15:32Speaker 5: God works in mysterious ways. He puts people together and
- 15:34Speaker 5: people in your paths for a reason. I believe that
- 15:37Speaker 5: that some of the things that happened to me along
- 15:40Speaker 5: the way, you know, people have always been put in
- 15:42Speaker 5: my path and you know, just really staying strong to
- 15:45Speaker 5: my faith and I and I thank you for sharing
- 15:48Speaker 5: that because you know as well. I actually was part
- 15:51Speaker 5: of of an anthology as well with a lady that
- 15:56Speaker 5: I just met just out of the blue or Her
- 15:58Speaker 5: name is doctor Tanisha King Tiler, and she asked me
- 16:01Speaker 5: to be a part of an anthology that she was doing,
- 16:04Speaker 5: and I thought it was rather strange when she asked me,
- 16:07Speaker 5: because when she told me the topic, she said, the
- 16:12Speaker 5: topic is around domestic violence, but emotional and psychological abuse
- 16:16Speaker 5: of women and intimate partner relationships. So I was taken
- 16:20Speaker 5: aback because I'm like, that's not what my book was about,
- 16:23Speaker 5: what I wrote about, So why.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Did she ask me to join her in this book?
- 16:28Speaker 5: And it just so happened at that time she shared
- 16:30Speaker 5: with me that she was in the process of going
- 16:32Speaker 5: through a divorce and leaving her husband.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Who was a very abusive to her, and she didn't.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Even know at that time I was also in the
- 16:40Speaker 5: middle of the same thing, and so her asking me
- 16:44Speaker 5: it was like this divine connection without her even knowing.
- 16:48Speaker 4: And I absolutely.
- 16:50Speaker 5: Joined her and five other authors in that anthology so
- 16:53Speaker 5: we could tell our stories. And I just feel like,
- 16:55Speaker 5: that is what my past has been, and that's what
- 16:59Speaker 5: the the gift in my purpose that God has given
- 17:02Speaker 5: me is to tell my story and to connect with
- 17:05Speaker 5: other women who may have been keeping these things silent
- 17:10Speaker 5: and not being able to speak about it. And once
- 17:12Speaker 5: they hear other women's story, whether it's my story, your story,
- 17:16Speaker 5: they feel uncomfortable enough or connect enough to be able
- 17:19Speaker 5: to say, you know what, I don't have to be
- 17:21Speaker 5: alone because I'm not alone and I've been through these things,
- 17:24Speaker 5: and they've been through these things, and look at where
- 17:25Speaker 5: they are and they're continuing on the resilience the strength.
- 17:30Speaker 5: So yeah, so I know that that is what my
- 17:32Speaker 5: purpose is.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Wow, and that you say that, and then you say
- 17:40Speaker 2: that the loneliness. You know, I actually have some hosts
- 17:46Speaker 2: that are on the podcast and some individuals that support
- 17:50Speaker 2: the podcast that are going through similar situations now, and
- 17:56Speaker 2: you know, just being able to for them to hear
- 17:59Speaker 2: this and for them to get these little nuggets something
- 18:03Speaker 2: that can can help them get through, because sometimes we
- 18:07Speaker 2: don't know what the next person is experience. And we
- 18:10Speaker 2: may share everything that we can and we can only
- 18:13Speaker 2: share our experiences, but it may be something that the
- 18:19Speaker 2: next person is sharing that can help them get through.
- 18:22Speaker 2: So I'm grateful and God knows what we need and
- 18:27Speaker 2: he will always if we just align ourselves, if we
- 18:30Speaker 2: just be in place, he will make sure that we
- 18:33Speaker 2: align with those things that we're supposed to according to
- 18:37Speaker 2: his plan. Because his plan is his plan. They're my
- 18:39Speaker 2: twenty nine and eleven is not gonna change. He is
- 18:42Speaker 2: already mapped it out. So the fact that you're here today,
- 18:46Speaker 2: that was already a part of the plan back when
- 18:48Speaker 2: he said it was done. He knew that this day
- 18:51Speaker 2: was gonna come and that it was gonna be right
- 18:53Speaker 2: here in this hour and this minute, and everyone that
- 18:57Speaker 2: needed to hear this, and everyone that needed to be
- 18:59Speaker 2: in this moment would be here. And even those that
- 19:03Speaker 2: will hear this as a replay, you know, they're gonna
- 19:06Speaker 2: hear it exactly when they need to hear it. Because
- 19:10Speaker 2: God is an on time god. He's not a god
- 19:14Speaker 2: of circumstance and accidents and and just happenstance. He's not
- 19:19Speaker 2: that guy. He's an on time god, and he's always
- 19:23Speaker 2: moving on our rehals.
- 19:26Speaker 3: So I'm grateful.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I'm grateful that we were in place and that we
- 19:32Speaker 2: were able to be obedient and that we listen.
- 19:35Speaker 3: We listened to him.
- 19:36Speaker 2: So you mentioned some of the things that you do.
- 19:44Speaker 2: By any chance, are you doing any speaking or are
- 19:49Speaker 2: you doing any type of motivational speaking or and this time.
- 19:55Speaker 5: Not at well, not at this time. That's something that
- 19:58Speaker 5: I definitely am looking into, and I really want to do.
- 20:02Speaker 5: One of the things that I want to do is
- 20:05Speaker 5: go to the family shelters to give back where the
- 20:09Speaker 5: women and children are, to really speak to the women
- 20:12Speaker 5: and let them know, you know, like I was. You know,
- 20:15Speaker 5: I'm you and you are me. You know I was
- 20:17Speaker 5: in this place, so don't give up and think that
- 20:18Speaker 5: this is the end for you. But also, you know,
- 20:21Speaker 5: speaking to young women. I also work with young girls.
- 20:25Speaker 5: I have an organization that I started right before the
- 20:29Speaker 5: pandemic call she is Empowered, where we just bring women
- 20:33Speaker 5: together similar to what you do, but but instead bring
- 20:38Speaker 5: women together to network all walks of path in their
- 20:42Speaker 5: careers and just really mentor each other. And we give
- 20:46Speaker 5: back to the youth as well. We give them I
- 20:50Speaker 5: call them love offerings and uh for the youth and
- 20:54Speaker 5: education or entrepreneurial pursuits that they may be looking to do.
- 20:59Speaker 5: So motivational speaking is something that I definitely really want
- 21:03Speaker 5: to get deeper into. I have an event that's coming
- 21:06Speaker 5: up in May supporting women, and that's going to be
- 21:09Speaker 5: my first event that I'm going to do where I'm
- 21:11Speaker 5: going to be the speaker as opposed to hiring someone
- 21:14Speaker 5: or bringing someone in. I want to be there to
- 21:17Speaker 5: speak to the women at my own event exactly.
- 21:20Speaker 2: That's what I keep telling people like you sit a month,
- 21:23Speaker 2: like you are so gifted in talent, like I tell
- 21:25Speaker 2: the young ladies on the podcast all the time, because
- 21:28Speaker 2: we have not just the group of people that you
- 21:32Speaker 2: see in the background, but the ladies right here on
- 21:36Speaker 2: the podcast.
- 21:36Speaker 3: We have nine.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Hosts that hosts their own show, and they're all queens,
- 21:43Speaker 2: and they all have their own brands. They're all doing
- 21:45Speaker 2: differing and they have their own powerful messages. Like we
- 21:48Speaker 2: have one that's a social worker. She does policies and procedures,
- 21:54Speaker 2: but she has been in social working for thirty over
- 21:57Speaker 2: thirty years. She's done everything. She's done asta care, she's
- 22:01Speaker 2: done elderly like you guys do, and she is amazing.
- 22:07Speaker 2: We have individuals that have disabilities that come and they
- 22:12Speaker 2: share about their disability to show that you can still
- 22:15Speaker 2: do things and not even be you know, to come
- 22:21Speaker 2: to your disability that you still can do despite uh
- 22:24Speaker 2: that it does not disable you, but it is just
- 22:28Speaker 2: you're just different. You're just a little different. And then
- 22:31Speaker 2: we have one young lady and she's in New York.
- 22:35Speaker 2: She is confined to a bed right now, she had
- 22:39Speaker 2: a massive stroke a little over two and a half
- 22:42Speaker 2: years ago, but she does her show every first and
- 22:47Speaker 2: third Wednesday.
- 22:49Speaker 3: She comes on.
- 22:50Speaker 2: She started out interviewing individuals, but now she does inspirational
- 22:54Speaker 2: moments with profittes Tea and she come on and she
- 22:59Speaker 2: encouraged other individuals. She want them to know that in
- 23:02Speaker 2: spite of that, you still can if you want to.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Where there's a will, there's a way, and it's not
- 23:07Speaker 2: just words that that you can.
- 23:10Speaker 3: You know, we're truly trying to lead by example. So
- 23:13Speaker 3: I'm telling you.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I say all that to say if you need some
- 23:17Speaker 2: women that have some powerful stories, that have some powerful
- 23:21Speaker 2: testimonies and that can can really you know, encourage.
- 23:26Speaker 3: One thing we do is.
- 23:27Speaker 2: We we believe that we are the change that we
- 23:30Speaker 2: desire to see in this world. And we do that
- 23:32Speaker 2: through educating, empower and encouraging. We revamp our entire programming
- 23:40Speaker 2: so that we can have our saturdays free, so that
- 23:42Speaker 2: we can get out in the community, so that we
- 23:44Speaker 2: can go out and give back and be in the
- 23:47Speaker 2: community and do things. So if you need individuals to
- 23:50Speaker 2: come out and maybe interview people at your event or.
- 23:57Speaker 3: To you know, just maybe just just be a.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Part to you know, share highlights, to go live and
- 24:04Speaker 2: to talk about you know, what's going on. You know,
- 24:07Speaker 2: we have people that may be in the area that
- 24:09Speaker 2: would like to come out. That's what we're doing now.
- 24:12Speaker 2: We're giving back. We want people to know that we
- 24:15Speaker 2: are a part of the community and we are here
- 24:18Speaker 2: to support each other. I'm on this four seeds and
- 24:22Speaker 2: if you since you are a part of the one
- 24:24Speaker 2: hundred out the movement, that is one of the things
- 24:26Speaker 2: that we stand on and we're standing on those four
- 24:29Speaker 2: seeds right now, and that is connect, collaborate, create, and community.
- 24:35Speaker 3: I truly believe that it.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Is us coming together, us connected and truly connected, not
- 24:41Speaker 2: just saying that hey, we are connected, but us pulling
- 24:44Speaker 2: on each other resources because there may be something that
- 24:47Speaker 2: I may know that can help you that you may
- 24:50Speaker 2: not know. You may not have that nugget yet, but
- 24:52Speaker 2: it may be something that I can share with you
- 24:54Speaker 2: that can help you go to the next level. And
- 24:56Speaker 2: then vice versus the same thing. And if we're all
- 24:58Speaker 2: doing that for each other, then guess what. We're all
- 25:01Speaker 2: growing and we're all able to bring up people behind us.
- 25:05Speaker 2: And then as we're bringing up people behind us, we're
- 25:08Speaker 2: raising up a whole new generation. And as we continue
- 25:11Speaker 2: to give back and to give back that that is
- 25:14Speaker 2: that that greatness that he said that we shall do,
- 25:17Speaker 2: you know, and how would people know only know if
- 25:20Speaker 2: we're doing the things that we're doing now, having these interviews,
- 25:24Speaker 2: being in these magazines, going live, being visible, being able
- 25:29Speaker 2: to be seen. So I am super, super proud of
- 25:33Speaker 2: you for having this event. Please, let's talk about this event.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Let's talk about when this event is going to be
- 25:42Speaker 2: and is it too late for individuals to get involved
- 25:45Speaker 2: in the event.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Oh no, absolutely, I love this and I would be
- 25:49Speaker 5: happy to share most definitely. The event has taken place
- 25:53Speaker 5: May seventeenth, and it is happening. I'll send the flyer out.
- 25:59Speaker 5: It's it's at a venue called The Her Place, which
- 26:02Speaker 5: is amazing because I was looking for a venue because
- 26:04Speaker 5: I actually wanted to do this event in March for
- 26:07Speaker 5: Women's History Month. Didn't work out that way, but I
- 26:10Speaker 5: ended up finding this place called the Her Place, and
- 26:12Speaker 5: so yes, it's under my organization. She is empowered, and
- 26:17Speaker 5: I would be glad to have people come out to support.
- 26:19Speaker 4: I'm actually also going to have a couple.
- 26:22Speaker 5: Of vendors there on women, vendors, entrepreneurs selling their products,
- 26:27Speaker 5: and just really coming together. The purposes for us to
- 26:29Speaker 5: really come together, as you stated, as a community, to
- 26:32Speaker 5: love on each other, but also to support each other,
- 26:35Speaker 5: to provide resources to each other. There might be someone
- 26:38Speaker 5: in the room who is a you know, wants to
- 26:41Speaker 5: be author, and we have authors in the room. You know,
- 26:43Speaker 5: someone might want to figure out how to create a
- 26:45Speaker 5: website and I know people for that, So just coming
- 26:48Speaker 5: together and being able to do that.
- 26:51Speaker 4: And yeah, so that's that's what's happening.
- 26:53Speaker 5: The bigger events that I do usually have over like
- 26:57Speaker 5: sixty or seventy people. This year, I wanted to do
- 26:59Speaker 5: something a little smaller scale, but it's still going to
- 27:02Speaker 5: be just as powerful.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Awesome, awesome, alsome, And we definitely want to make sure
- 27:08Speaker 2: that we are sharing that inside of the group, because
- 27:10Speaker 2: we do have quite a few individuals in the New
- 27:14Speaker 2: York area that could come out and support inside of
- 27:18Speaker 2: the group, So we definitely want to make sure that
- 27:20Speaker 2: we are sharing that so that we can garner that
- 27:23Speaker 2: support and that you know, they can share within in
- 27:26Speaker 2: their circle, within their networks, because you never know who
- 27:28Speaker 2: may be in the area that can come out and support.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Definitely want to connect with you and see how we
- 27:37Speaker 2: could possibly partner and bring this movement there so that
- 27:43Speaker 2: we can showcase some of these authors and these brands
- 27:46Speaker 2: and give people an opportunity to get to know some
- 27:48Speaker 2: of these one hundred authors. We still have room for
- 27:52Speaker 2: our authors. If there're still individuals that want to come
- 27:55Speaker 2: together and want to pull on resources. We have a
- 27:59Speaker 2: group chat we have that we're in every day. We
- 28:04Speaker 2: have a we have a group that we post in.
- 28:08Speaker 2: We go, we we share information.
- 28:11Speaker 3: We support each other.
- 28:14Speaker 2: If there's individual opportunities to be featured in magazines, to
- 28:18Speaker 2: be featured on radio shows, podcasts, whatever opportunities come up,
- 28:24Speaker 2: award shows, whatever come up, we posted, We shared it
- 28:28Speaker 2: in the group. We give individuals an opportunity to, you know,
- 28:32Speaker 2: get out there, to get visible. We share everything. There's
- 28:37Speaker 2: nothing I'm telling you. Individuals, if you come from if
- 28:41Speaker 2: you come for me, if you want me to be
- 28:42Speaker 2: a part of something, you know they already know that
- 28:46Speaker 2: I don't come alone, that you gotta at least grab
- 28:51Speaker 2: some people and and and and allow them to come
- 28:54Speaker 2: along with me as well. And then you know we're
- 28:58Speaker 2: gonna pay it for We're gonna reach back and shared
- 29:01Speaker 2: with some more people. And that's what we do, and
- 29:05Speaker 2: that's how we all win. You know, it is enough
- 29:09Speaker 2: in this world for us all to win, because if
- 29:12Speaker 2: we look at the amount of people that are actually published,
- 29:15Speaker 2: I just completed. Yeah, I can't stop talking about this,
- 29:19Speaker 2: but I just completed my MBA today.
- 29:23Speaker 3: I just turned in my forty page paper.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Ye, rad, I thank God for just being who he is,
- 29:31Speaker 2: because if it had not been for him, I would
- 29:33Speaker 2: have been still sleep because I just turned that paper
- 29:38Speaker 2: in right before five am prayer this morning. We do
- 29:42Speaker 2: a five am prayer every morning, so right before five
- 29:45Speaker 2: am prayer this morning, I was just turning that paper in.
- 29:48Speaker 2: I did not go to sleep after that until probably
- 29:52Speaker 2: about twelve o'clock and I was napping and I jumped
- 29:57Speaker 2: up and I said, ooh wee, it's time for this
- 29:59Speaker 2: time for the podcast. So I had to run over
- 30:03Speaker 2: here and get on this podcast. Could not could not
- 30:05Speaker 2: miss this. So I'm grateful, but I'm excited for you.
- 30:11Speaker 3: You're doing a lot.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Of amazing things that is paying it forward, and you
- 30:17Speaker 2: are leading by example. You are not sitting down on
- 30:22Speaker 2: what God has done for you. You are sharing his goodness.
- 30:26Speaker 2: You are allowing people to see what he's done. You're
- 30:29Speaker 2: being transparent and you are allowing him to use you.
- 30:33Speaker 3: So thank you.
- 30:35Speaker 2: I definitely look forward to hearing more from you and
- 30:41Speaker 2: seeing what you're doing and connecting with you that that
- 30:45Speaker 2: that is so amazing. So before we leave, I want
- 30:49Speaker 2: you to share with individuals how they can connect with you,
- 30:54Speaker 2: where they can support some of the things that you're doing,
- 30:57Speaker 2: where they can get your.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Books, and and.
- 31:01Speaker 2: If you have any literary projects that you are working
- 31:04Speaker 2: on that they may can tap into.
- 31:06Speaker 5: Okay, so three books, all available on Amazon. Protection from
- 31:13Speaker 5: the Storm.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Is the the the.
- 31:16Speaker 5: Partial memoir Sore is my poetry book, my diary from
- 31:21Speaker 5: when I was a child and I turned it into poems.
- 31:24Speaker 5: And Gratitude in Grief is the anthology Intimate Domestic Violence
- 31:31Speaker 5: and Department into Intimate Partner Relationships and all available on Amazon.
- 31:38Speaker 5: My website for my organization, She Is Empowered, is www
- 31:43Speaker 5: dot She is Hyphenempowered dot com, where you can see
- 31:48Speaker 5: all the wonderful things that I've done in the past
- 31:49Speaker 5: and the event that's soon to come. And I'm on
- 31:53Speaker 5: Instagram at she is Empowered Underscore LLC.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Awesome, Awesome, awesome, what I tell you, I did have
- 32:00Speaker 2: enjoyed sitting down and talking with you on today and
- 32:04Speaker 2: sharing what you have going on. It's truly amazing. I
- 32:08Speaker 2: thank you, and again I definitely look forward to seeing
- 32:12Speaker 2: all that you have to share. It is definitely amazing
- 32:17Speaker 2: to see individuals that are able to come through and
- 32:21Speaker 2: willing to share how they got through.
- 32:23Speaker 3: So thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I want to thank everyone that has tuned in on
- 32:30Speaker 2: today out of the comments, thank you Latanya for tuning
- 32:35Speaker 2: in and all those that have tuned in on today.
- 32:39Speaker 3: It has truly been a blessing.
- 32:42Speaker 2: I want you to know that no matter where you are,
- 32:45Speaker 2: know that you are right where you are supposed to
- 32:48Speaker 2: be because God is an on time god and he
- 32:52Speaker 2: is yet faithful. Jeremiah twenty nine and eleven reminds us
- 32:56Speaker 2: that he said that he declared that he had a
- 32:59Speaker 2: plan for us, and it was to prosper us. It
- 33:01Speaker 2: wasn't to harm us. It was for us to be
- 33:03Speaker 2: in good health, for us to have hope in the future.
- 33:06Speaker 2: So regardless of where you are right now, know that
- 33:11Speaker 2: the plan that He has for you shall come to
- 33:13Speaker 2: pass and that you will get there because his plan
- 33:18Speaker 2: will not return to him board. He will watch over
- 33:20Speaker 2: and to his perform and perfect it in this world.
- 33:23Speaker 2: So again, stay the course and just trust the process.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Go through the process and know that going through. Once
- 33:32Speaker 2: you get through, you'll be able to share that testimony.
- 33:37Speaker 2: I'm reminded that the test is only for a moment
- 33:42Speaker 2: so that you can have that testimony. So y'all be blessed.
- 33:46Speaker 2: And I want to thank you guys for tuning in
- 33:48Speaker 2: on today. And before we leave, y'all, you know we
- 33:52Speaker 2: got to give this queen a round of applause to
- 33:56Speaker 2: thank her for coming in the studio on today sharing
- 34:00Speaker 2: with us.
- 34:01Speaker 3: So let's give her.
- 34:02Speaker 2: A round of applause for being here on today.
- 34:10Speaker 4: Thank you everyone, Thank you Queen Angela.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Thank you, and I pray that you have a blessed
- 34:16Speaker 2: rest of your day. And again, thank you for gracing
- 34:19Speaker 2: us on today. Have a great one you too, go bride.
- 34:24Speaker 2: I want to thank you guys for tuning in on today.
- 34:28Speaker 2: I pray that you were blessed by something that would share.
- 34:30Speaker 2: If you would, please share this in your circle, make
- 34:33Speaker 2: sure that you go over support this queen, support the
- 34:36Speaker 2: things that she's doing. She shared her links, She shared
- 34:39Speaker 2: her books. She shared everything, and I'm going to tell
- 34:42Speaker 2: y'all when you go go over to Amazon, look at
- 34:44Speaker 2: the books, but go to her website order it from
- 34:47Speaker 2: her so that she can autograph that copy for you,
- 34:49Speaker 2: so you can get that personal touch, so that you
- 34:51Speaker 2: get an opportunity to get to know a little bit
- 34:53Speaker 2: about her and get that that the closeness. So y'all
- 34:57Speaker 2: support this queen, support the one hundred Author's movement. If
- 35:01Speaker 2: you are an author and you are not attached to
- 35:04Speaker 2: this movement, I want to encourage you to get attached
- 35:06Speaker 2: to this movement. We are showcasing, we're sharing authors, we're
- 35:10Speaker 2: connecting with sharing resources, and we're doing it as a family.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I believe in the four seas, and that is connect, collaborate, create.
- 35:19Speaker 3: And community.
- 35:20Speaker 2: So if you believe in those four seas, we want
- 35:22Speaker 2: you to come over and be a part of the
- 35:24Speaker 2: one hundred Authors to watch for twenty twenty five. Y'all
- 35:28Speaker 2: have a great one.
- 35:29Speaker 3: Love you,
