- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the EDS with Eddie Judge and Edwin Adoyave.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome back to the EDS podcasts. I'm Eddie and I'm Edwin.
- 0:09Speaker 2: We are the EDS. So Hey, how you doing, Edwin?
- 0:13Speaker 2: How's it going. I know there's a lot going on
- 0:15Speaker 2: in your life and I just want to know how
- 0:17Speaker 2: you're doing.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I'm doing as good as I could be doing, and
- 0:22Speaker 3: just getting ready for the holidays, you know, yeah, yeah,
- 0:25Speaker 3: me and focusing on the things that I can control, right,
- 0:27Speaker 3: and all that other stuff kind of figures itself out
- 0:30Speaker 3: as it figures itself out. But I've always been big
- 0:33Speaker 3: on just focusing on what you can control and all
- 0:37Speaker 3: that other stuff you can't control, you just leave that
- 0:40Speaker 3: up to God.
- 0:41Speaker 1: And that's what gives you peace.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I think when you try to control things that you
- 0:46Speaker 3: can't control is when you rob yourself of the inner piece.
- 0:50Speaker 3: So I've been intentional with just with that part and
- 0:54Speaker 3: staying in faith, staying in and focusing on the children
- 0:58Speaker 3: and stuff like that. So are so so. I mean
- 1:00Speaker 3: it's obviously difficult times, but you know, we we do
- 1:04Speaker 3: what we always do, which is you just remain pushing.
- 1:07Speaker 3: You continue to push forward. You know, life's gonna throw
- 1:09Speaker 3: some curveballs at you, and you just gotta continue to
- 1:11Speaker 3: push and things have a way to always figure themselves
- 1:15Speaker 3: out within time, So patience.
- 1:19Speaker 2: We shoot both the best, mostly because it's not an
- 1:23Speaker 2: easy thing to go through, and especially the timing. You know,
- 1:28Speaker 2: it's just it couldn't be any worse because this sucks. Yeah,
- 1:31Speaker 2: so I really feel bad and I wish you both,
- 1:35Speaker 2: you know, I hope you guys get through this pretty good.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you, No, I appreciate it. Okay, so we
- 1:40Speaker 3: got to get show holidays. Let's talk about it.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Let's talk about the holidays for this topic.
- 1:46Speaker 2: We're going to be talking about this time of the year,
- 1:49Speaker 2: from our traditions growing up, our own family, maybe some
- 1:53Speaker 2: gifts ideas and anything we want to talk about with
- 1:55Speaker 2: respect to the holidays. And I'll start it off with
- 1:58Speaker 2: you know, growing up, I really the the only traditions
- 2:03Speaker 2: I had were you know, being from a Latin family,
- 2:06Speaker 2: we can come up with any excuse to celebrate. So
- 2:09Speaker 2: we definitely had parties, We had the gifts, and we
- 2:12Speaker 2: celebrated any any opportunity we got, including Thanksgiving. You know,
- 2:17Speaker 2: it was just we're Americans now, so it was part
- 2:19Speaker 2: of our culture. And frankly, my favorite holiday of the
- 2:24Speaker 2: entire year is Thanksgiving for two reasons. I just love
- 2:28Speaker 2: to be thankful for my life, my family. You know,
- 2:32Speaker 2: I can't I can't emphasize enough how happy I am
- 2:36Speaker 2: with my life, and and of course the meals. I
- 2:41Speaker 2: just love turkey, you know, and stuffing and all the
- 2:45Speaker 2: all the good stuff that comes with Thanksgiving.
- 2:47Speaker 1: But do you do you remember growing up and did
- 2:50Speaker 1: you so? It's traditions.
- 2:53Speaker 3: So I grew up in Columbia, so I came to
- 2:54Speaker 3: the US when I was six. But what I do
- 2:56Speaker 3: remember as a kid, my dad would throw like amazing
- 3:00Speaker 3: parties for Christmas. Like we'd have worcus, like we'd have
- 3:03Speaker 3: like bands at the house and it'd be just everyone
- 3:06Speaker 3: partying at the you know, for Christmas. It's like what
- 3:09Speaker 3: they do right, like you eat, but then they'd start
- 3:12Speaker 3: to party late. And then when I came to the US,
- 3:15Speaker 3: sort of you know, that kind of went away the
- 3:17Speaker 3: whole party all night on Christmas. But it was you know,
- 3:21Speaker 3: it was fun seeing all these adults partying and you're
- 3:23Speaker 3: just kind of there, you know, waiting for the for
- 3:25Speaker 3: the gifts and stuff. But what's interesting is in at
- 3:29Speaker 3: least in the land community. For us, we used to
- 3:30Speaker 3: stay up till twelve all the time to open up
- 3:32Speaker 3: our presence and we would open all of them.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Yes, and now.
- 3:36Speaker 3: It's the flip side of that, you know, being with
- 3:39Speaker 3: Teddy for as long as I was, it you open
- 3:43Speaker 3: one present if you could make it to midnight and
- 3:46Speaker 3: which most can't, and then you open all of them
- 3:49Speaker 3: the next morning. So definitely two different worlds.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I kind of like to stay till staying up till twelve.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Well not anymore because I'm once it's o'clock, I'm like dad.
- 4:02Speaker 3: But back in the day, I used to love waiting
- 4:05Speaker 3: until twelve and opening up all the gifts.
- 4:09Speaker 2: So how do you how did you do it before?
- 4:12Speaker 2: Did everybody come to your house? Did you go to
- 4:15Speaker 2: Teddy's family's house? I mean it gets partically.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yeah, So typically we would do you know, if it's
- 4:21Speaker 3: Thanksgiving out our dad's house, we'd have Christmas at our
- 4:25Speaker 3: house and then vice versa. If it's Christmas or if
- 4:28Speaker 3: it's Thanksgiving at our house, then we're going with our
- 4:32Speaker 3: dad on Christmas.
- 4:34Speaker 1: So that's always been sort of the back and forth.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Huh. So, yeah, so you share the okay and he
- 4:44Speaker 2: would come to share the house and.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Then they'll come to the house.
- 4:46Speaker 3: I think last year we celebrated Christmas at our house
- 4:49Speaker 3: and then this year Thanksgiving will be at at John's house.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So it's cool.
- 4:54Speaker 2: So has John and your family been at the same
- 5:00Speaker 2: sell it festivities?
- 5:03Speaker 3: No, because when when it's when we're here, it's rare
- 5:06Speaker 3: that John comes. So it's typically if John comes because
- 5:10Speaker 3: we're going to him. Although last year was sort of different.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I think it was like the first time that he
- 5:16Speaker 3: that he was with us at our house. We're typically
- 5:18Speaker 3: going to his house. But you know, it's it's always
- 5:20Speaker 3: a fun time going to his houses and stuff. And yeah,
- 5:23Speaker 3: kids get to play and do all their things. We
- 5:25Speaker 3: have this great football for Thanksgiving. We have this great
- 5:29Speaker 3: tradition where we played. You know, it's got a nice
- 5:31Speaker 3: little football field and we'll go you know, eight on eight.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Ten on ten. Fun. Yeah. I remember one year Cruz
- 5:39Speaker 1: just got ran over and he's.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Just like crying, poor thing. I mean he just got
- 5:44Speaker 3: completely ran over and there is no Yeah, there is
- 5:49Speaker 3: no safety.
- 5:50Speaker 1: You're in that football game. If you're five years old
- 5:52Speaker 1: and you're in the way, you're getting run over. Yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 1: but it's fine.
- 5:55Speaker 2: You know, so your family met John, your your mom
- 5:59Speaker 2: and dad, and that's out of your family met My.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Mom has, My entire family has except for my dad.
- 6:06Speaker 3: And we met John when we first got married thirteen
- 6:09Speaker 3: years ago in Paris. That's when they met him, because
- 6:11Speaker 3: everybody flew to Paris and that's when we got married.
- 6:14Speaker 3: And then that's when my mom siblings all met John
- 6:17Speaker 3: and it was.
- 6:18Speaker 1: A great, great day as well. But yeah, and then
- 6:22Speaker 1: you know, in regards to Thanksgiving, you know, I like the.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Tradition of the football right that we play all the time,
- 6:28Speaker 3: and you know, the food's great. It's just it's I
- 6:32Speaker 3: definitely like Christmas more than Thanksgiving. I know you said
- 6:34Speaker 3: you're a Thanksgiving guy. I'm more of a of Christmas guy.
- 6:39Speaker 2: So for Thanksgiving, do you do the traditional thirty turkey
- 6:43Speaker 2: meal or do you infuse it with some if.
- 6:45Speaker 3: We go to John's house, Okay, our house, I'll ish,
- 6:51Speaker 3: you know, we'll mix in some Tamali's, we'll mix in
- 6:54Speaker 3: some Colombian food, We'll mix in a little bit of everything.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Ah. So yeah, I just always love that there's this
- 7:02Speaker 2: sweet rice with with grapes, not grapes those dried up
- 7:08Speaker 2: what's a dried up grape? It was my favorite dish.
- 7:12Speaker 2: And then that's I discovered yuka from going to the
- 7:16Speaker 2: Columbian Dinner. Yeah, and it was good. So yeah, we
- 7:21Speaker 2: we always kept it traditional American meals. Even when my
- 7:27Speaker 2: family came over, they might have brought to Molly's one season,
- 7:31Speaker 2: but we're having the whole family coming over this year
- 7:34Speaker 2: for Thanksgiving, so it'll be I don't know what my
- 7:37Speaker 2: wife has upper sleeve, if she's going to do a
- 7:39Speaker 2: traditional Thanksgiving turkey, or if we're going to do prime rip,
- 7:42Speaker 2: or if we're going to do something different, but I
- 7:45Speaker 2: just look forward. I just love turkey on Thanksgiving for
- 7:49Speaker 2: some reason. It's just it brings it makes me happy.
- 8:00Speaker 3: So are you an early decorator guy? Like do you
- 8:02Speaker 3: start decorating your house? Are you like buy the Christmas
- 8:06Speaker 3: tree November first, the day after Halloween?
- 8:09Speaker 1: You know, I'll started with this.
- 8:12Speaker 2: There was a time period, I think it was in
- 8:15Speaker 2: my mid twenties where I just didn't like the holidays.
- 8:20Speaker 2: So when holiday seasons come up, I was like, oh,
- 8:23Speaker 2: you know, it's it becomes so stressful, like where are
- 8:26Speaker 2: we going to go to your families? My families? Where
- 8:29Speaker 2: we going to spend time with, and it got so complicated.
- 8:32Speaker 2: I think I've had two years in my entire life
- 8:35Speaker 2: where on holidays I just stayed home by myself. I
- 8:38Speaker 2: didn't want to do anything right, So that kind of
- 8:41Speaker 2: set the pace for me. And then eventually I got
- 8:43Speaker 2: older and I started realizing it's become so commercialized that
- 8:49Speaker 2: Thanksgiving people start decorating for Thanksgiving in the summer. You
- 8:56Speaker 2: go to home depot today and you have, you know,
- 8:59Speaker 2: or two months ago, and you start seeing Christmas stuff.
- 9:02Speaker 2: So to me, it's kind of put a bad taste
- 9:04Speaker 2: in my mouth. It's just everything's become so commercialized and
- 9:09Speaker 2: has taken the magic away from what Christmas and Thanksgiving
- 9:12Speaker 2: really is. So to answer the question, is I wait,
- 9:16Speaker 2: like to wait till the last minute. You know, I
- 9:19Speaker 2: don't have my Christmas lights up yet. I just found
- 9:22Speaker 2: out my wife's gonna want a real Christmas tree this year.
- 9:24Speaker 2: We've always had a fake tree. It's just easier, you know.
- 9:28Speaker 2: So now I'm not looking forward to it, but I'm
- 9:31Speaker 2: going to deal with the mess that real trees make.
- 9:35Speaker 2: But I think that's part of the experience, right.
- 9:38Speaker 3: So are you putting up the decorations or is that
- 9:41Speaker 3: camera when it comes to you?
- 9:44Speaker 1: Or are you paying somebody to do it? No, we
- 9:47Speaker 1: do it.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I did one year when I was single making a
- 9:51Speaker 2: lot of money, and it was.
- 9:53Speaker 1: In this house.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I decided to hire a decorator and paid her like
- 9:57Speaker 2: two grand or twenty five hundred dollars and decorated the
- 10:00Speaker 2: entire house and it looked like Norm Strum in here.
- 10:03Speaker 1: It was beautiful.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I think it's worth doing that. I remember it was
- 10:06Speaker 3: funny I gave one day. I'm like when I think
- 10:10Speaker 3: it was when we first started dating. I don't know
- 10:12Speaker 3: if you were married yet. I think it was when
- 10:14Speaker 3: we first started dating. But it's a funny story. I
- 10:16Speaker 3: told Teddy, can you get us like a nice Christmas tree?
- 10:20Speaker 3: And I gave us some money to go do it.
- 10:23Speaker 3: I'm not joking. She brings back. I don't know if
- 10:25Speaker 3: it got delivered or she actually got it herself, but
- 10:28Speaker 3: I was expecting like this huge tree because we had
- 10:31Speaker 3: these high high ceilings. Well she brings back a tree
- 10:35Speaker 3: that maybe at most is three feet tall, and that
- 10:40Speaker 3: was our Christmas tree that year. And I'm like, Teddy,
- 10:43Speaker 3: I just gave you a ton of money, Like what
- 10:46Speaker 3: this is the best you came up with, like afoot tree.
- 10:49Speaker 3: So we're not the best decorators. I think last year
- 10:55Speaker 3: we paid somebody to kind of do it. I'm just
- 10:58Speaker 3: like the worst freaking handy man of all time. So
- 11:01Speaker 3: oh really, Oh, I don't even know how to change
- 11:04Speaker 3: a tire. I'm I'm not a handy dude. Big Mama's
- 11:10Speaker 3: Mama's boy. Mama did everything for me, and that's just
- 11:15Speaker 3: never been my strength. So with decorating, we're we're not
- 11:18Speaker 3: the best. Yeah, Teddy's at least a little bit better
- 11:21Speaker 3: than I am, but definitely I am the worst.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Well, I'll tell you when when we first got together,
- 11:30Speaker 2: Tara and I made sure that we started doing those
- 11:33Speaker 2: holiday traditions ourselves, you know, because we wanted to keep
- 11:36Speaker 2: it as normal as possible for our kids. So we decorated,
- 11:39Speaker 2: and we prepared and I did. I am in charge
- 11:43Speaker 2: of the outside. I used to help her more on
- 11:45Speaker 2: the inside as well, like hanging. I put the tree
- 11:47Speaker 2: up and she would put the decorations up right.
- 11:51Speaker 3: But I have a lot of injuries happen outside. It's
- 11:53Speaker 3: another reason I'm scared to do it. I'm like, I'd
- 11:55Speaker 3: rather pay someone. Yeah, me and me on a on.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Some stairs outside. Yeah, that's a recipe for disaster. Have
- 12:04Speaker 1: you did you ever fall.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I've never fallen, but I think it was two years
- 12:10Speaker 2: ago that I decided to hang up the hanging of
- 12:14Speaker 2: the lights outside because I went and I rented a
- 12:17Speaker 2: twenty foot ladder because you know, we're two story house
- 12:21Speaker 2: and just getting the damn ladder up to work it
- 12:25Speaker 2: was everything. And I'm strong, I work out, I'm pretty fit,
- 12:29Speaker 2: and it took everything in my power to get that
- 12:31Speaker 2: ladder up. And of course I climb up the ladder
- 12:33Speaker 2: to put the lights up, and suddenly, I don't know
- 12:36Speaker 2: if it's an age thing, but suddenly I got this
- 12:39Speaker 2: fear of heights. I'm like, okay, ladder's going back.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I'm hiring people. I can't do this anymore. So I
- 12:45Speaker 1: do hire.
- 12:46Speaker 2: People to put the lights up now, and I'm responsible
- 12:51Speaker 2: for getting all the stuff out of storage and putting
- 12:53Speaker 2: it in the house. And we've created a new kind
- 12:56Speaker 2: of tradition because Sophia is our last kid that still
- 12:59Speaker 2: live with does and if it wasn't for her, we
- 13:02Speaker 2: wouldn't put anything up for Thanksgiving. We wouldn't put anything up,
- 13:05Speaker 2: especially for Halloween. She loved Halloween, and so she took
- 13:09Speaker 2: it upon herself to do all the decorations and everything,
- 13:12Speaker 2: and so she took the lead and we followed and
- 13:15Speaker 2: we still do that and for Christmas we're going to
- 13:17Speaker 2: decorate again. But she's she's doing it herself, like it's
- 13:21Speaker 2: kind of like it stuck with her, Like she really
- 13:25Speaker 2: is excited to do the holidays, which is really rewarding
- 13:29Speaker 2: for us, because that's the ultimate reason why we did
- 13:31Speaker 2: it when when we were together and we were going
- 13:34Speaker 2: through you know, those hard times with transitioning from the divorce,
- 13:38Speaker 2: you know. So it's it's it's paid off and we
- 13:43Speaker 2: still have to decorate. And I say have to because
- 13:45Speaker 2: if we didn't have Sophia here, I don't think Cameron
- 13:47Speaker 2: and I would be.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Decorating that right.
- 13:51Speaker 2: So that's funny. What about let's see New Year's do
- 14:00Speaker 2: you guys still when was the last time you partied
- 14:03Speaker 2: on New Year's Eve?
- 14:07Speaker 3: We haven't in a while because it's it's been about
- 14:10Speaker 3: the kids, and you know, they're at that age too
- 14:13Speaker 3: where it's kind of hard.
- 14:13Speaker 1: To leave them.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, four ten twelve, So really I want
- 14:19Speaker 3: to say the last time I'm getting confused. But maybe
- 14:26Speaker 3: it was an Aspen three years ago and I think
- 14:29Speaker 3: we had just a blast. Yeah, but it's I think
- 14:33Speaker 3: that was two three years ago and we I mean
- 14:35Speaker 3: we partied. It was fun, but I might be getting
- 14:39Speaker 3: I don't know if that was Christmas. I think it
- 14:41Speaker 3: was New Year's but we had a blast. No, it
- 14:43Speaker 3: was new you know what, it was New Year's? What
- 14:44Speaker 3: am I talking about? We had a blast. But mostly,
- 14:47Speaker 3: you know, we just don't like leaving the kids. I
- 14:49Speaker 3: personally don't like leaving the kids because I'm such a
- 14:51Speaker 3: special day to like being able to say Happy New
- 14:53Speaker 3: Year to them.
- 14:54Speaker 1: So we usually do the nine o'clock New yorka we do.
- 15:00Speaker 1: We do the New York Quadrop and then we go
- 15:02Speaker 1: to bed.
- 15:04Speaker 3: So but it's interesting, you know, I you know, it's
- 15:09Speaker 3: different when you're single, right when you're single.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Shoot, what are you gonna do on New Year's Eve?
- 15:14Speaker 1: You know?
- 15:15Speaker 3: But in fact, when I first met Teddy, I was
- 15:17Speaker 3: obviously single at the time I met her December twenty sixth,
- 15:21Speaker 3: Like who goes out December twenty sixth?
- 15:23Speaker 1: But ingo, people, what else are you.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Gonna do on December twenty sixth? There's nothing to do
- 15:29Speaker 3: and you have some free time, yeah, because you know,
- 15:32Speaker 3: work's not that heavy at the time, so it's like
- 15:36Speaker 3: the holidays.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 15:39Speaker 2: So I was saying earlier, I've worked my ass off
- 15:42Speaker 2: so much when I was younger that holidays were just
- 15:45Speaker 2: the end of the day, you know, and then you
- 15:47Speaker 2: find yourself, Okay, well everything's closed, nobody's working. What am
- 15:50Speaker 2: I going to do with myself? Do you guys have
- 16:01Speaker 2: any traditions now, like the elf on the shelf for
- 16:04Speaker 2: anything like that for the kids.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Yeah, so we do. So Teddy's really good with that
- 16:08Speaker 1: stuff stocking.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Yeah, so when they come down, she's got the whole
- 16:13Speaker 3: stocking stuff down.
- 16:14Speaker 1: She's really good.
- 16:15Speaker 3: At that stuff, and the kids would come down and
- 16:17Speaker 3: get their stuff. I never had any of that growing up,
- 16:19Speaker 3: you know. I just had the Hey, your presence open
- 16:23Speaker 3: them up, you know. And I don't know, you know,
- 16:28Speaker 3: maybe because we grew in because I grew up in
- 16:30Speaker 3: Columbia the first six years, there is no Santa Claus
- 16:33Speaker 3: in Columbia really, right, It's more about Nino Dios than
- 16:39Speaker 3: maybe Jesus. Right, So Santa Claus was never a big
- 16:43Speaker 3: thing for me as a kid, and I kind of
- 16:46Speaker 3: knew that it was fake. My kids, Yeah, I want
- 16:49Speaker 3: to say my ten year old still think Santa Claus exists,
- 16:55Speaker 3: and my twelve year old, I know, Bella, which is
- 16:58Speaker 3: my sixteen year old, she knew, like yeah, I think
- 17:02Speaker 3: when when I eight, she's like, Dad, there is no
- 17:04Speaker 3: Santa Claus.
- 17:06Speaker 1: You know what about Dove? Oh yeah, yeah that's awesome.
- 17:13Speaker 1: But what kind of gift giver have you been?
- 17:17Speaker 2: And evolved too?
- 17:20Speaker 1: So I think I'm a great gift giver.
- 17:23Speaker 3: I'm not the best to shop for because I'm very
- 17:28Speaker 3: picky what stuff and I always tell people, hey, you're
- 17:30Speaker 3: gonna buy me clothes, just don't do it. I'd rather
- 17:33Speaker 3: buy my own clothes, right, Yeah, yeah.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I love getting socks.
- 17:39Speaker 3: My mom always gives me socks because it's like the
- 17:41Speaker 3: one thing I really don't.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Buy, like like the last thing, like socks.
- 17:46Speaker 3: So my mom always gives me socks, which is cool.
- 17:50Speaker 3: And I just like I like like stuff that, you know,
- 17:54Speaker 3: like somebody putting a collage of pictures together for me.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Because that's something I wouldn't do, right, simple sentimental stuff.
- 18:01Speaker 3: It's the sentimental stuff because the stuff to buy I
- 18:04Speaker 3: could buy it myself. And yeah, like usually like when
- 18:07Speaker 3: people buy me clothes, it's just like clothes, Like do
- 18:11Speaker 3: I need more clothes?
- 18:12Speaker 1: No?
- 18:14Speaker 3: And then I feel bad because a lot of times
- 18:16Speaker 3: I won't even wear it, you know.
- 18:19Speaker 1: But I think as far as me giving gifts, I
- 18:22Speaker 1: think I've been pretty good with that. I like, you know, uh,
- 18:26Speaker 1: giving gifts for sure.
- 18:27Speaker 2: When when it comes to you and Teddy, did you
- 18:31Speaker 2: guys struggle giving each other gifts or or or is
- 18:37Speaker 2: it an easy thing to do?
- 18:39Speaker 1: What's sort of changed?
- 18:40Speaker 3: I think now what I like to do typically is
- 18:43Speaker 3: just take her shopping. That way, she gets what she
- 18:47Speaker 3: wants and and looks good, and you know, sometimes it's
- 18:51Speaker 3: it's just with designer stuff, it's tough, it is buying
- 18:56Speaker 3: stuff if you don't fit into it. Yeah, so because
- 19:01Speaker 3: every size is different, right, Like what?
- 19:02Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 19:03Speaker 3: So I think I like doing that because I and
- 19:09Speaker 3: maybe and maybe in a I don't know, I mean,
- 19:12Speaker 3: I just I think with me, i'd like the same
- 19:15Speaker 3: way as well, Like I'd rather choose my stuff. Then yeah,
- 19:18Speaker 3: you know, you're trying to buy me something that I
- 19:20Speaker 3: know I'm not going to wear.
- 19:21Speaker 2: So it's become very challenging sort of you know for
- 19:26Speaker 2: us too, because it's not always a holiday that I
- 19:31Speaker 2: want to buy my wife something. Right, it's a birth day,
- 19:33Speaker 2: it's something else, and we can go anywhere and pick
- 19:36Speaker 2: something up and give to each other because we're thinking
- 19:39Speaker 2: about each other.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:41Speaker 2: But when it comes to gift giving, I think we're
- 19:44Speaker 2: at the point in our life where I'll buy my
- 19:47Speaker 2: own stuff and she can wrap it. And then she
- 19:49Speaker 2: buys her own stuff and sometimes I wrap it, sometimes.
- 19:52Speaker 1: She wraps it. Yeah. It just makes it.
- 19:54Speaker 2: So much easier, unlike sentimental holidays like I I tried
- 20:01Speaker 2: to do this every.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Valentine's Day.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I try to find a photo or something and create
- 20:09Speaker 2: a collage or have it printed in a canvas of
- 20:12Speaker 2: her and I or her and I and the family,
- 20:14Speaker 2: And those are the gifts I like to give her
- 20:16Speaker 2: on those holidays. Her birthday, for example, this year, it's
- 20:21Speaker 2: hard every year because I asked her what do you want,
- 20:23Speaker 2: and she never tells me. But this year for her birthday,
- 20:26Speaker 2: she ended up getting that facial thing laser thing, So
- 20:32Speaker 2: I think she did it intentionally so I wouldn't be
- 20:35Speaker 2: surprising her with the birthday party or anything. She just
- 20:37Speaker 2: didn't want that, so it made it kind of simple
- 20:41Speaker 2: for me because while she's recovering. I ended up going
- 20:44Speaker 2: to Cardia and I know she has a few bracelets
- 20:48Speaker 2: already and I just had to find one that she
- 20:50Speaker 2: didn't have and it was pretty easy. But outside of that,
- 20:54Speaker 2: she's so simple, so easy going, it makes it challenging
- 20:58Speaker 2: for me, like to buy her or something, I have
- 21:00Speaker 2: to ask her like what do you want exactly?
- 21:04Speaker 3: You know what's interesting too about that, I feel the
- 21:06Speaker 3: same way. Like what I say, I'm a good gift giver,
- 21:10Speaker 3: but that's based on how I feel not being forced to.
- 21:15Speaker 3: So sometimes I feel like Valentine's and Christmas and you know,
- 21:19Speaker 3: I just I like giving gifts at random times.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Yeah, you know where sometimes it's just like I'm being
- 21:26Speaker 1: forced to just.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Because Yeah it's I don't like that.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I hate that. Yeah, I like it when it just
- 21:33Speaker 1: comes from me. And that's why I like.
- 21:35Speaker 3: My best gifts are always random gifts. And I almost
- 21:37Speaker 3: have to remind I used to have to remind Teddy, like, hey,
- 21:41Speaker 3: this is a little bit of a Christmas gift. I
- 21:42Speaker 3: just you know, bought it a little early, you know,
- 21:45Speaker 3: don't forget about this one. And of course she forgets,
- 21:48Speaker 3: and you know, I got to get her the actual
- 21:50Speaker 3: Christmas one too, but but I like more of that
- 21:54Speaker 3: than those are. My best gifts are the ones that
- 21:56Speaker 3: just kind of come because I want to versus I got,
- 22:00Speaker 3: you know, at people telling me I have.
- 22:03Speaker 1: To because it's yeah, it's a buying season. So let
- 22:07Speaker 1: me ask you this.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Historically, I've been that typical guy that just waits till
- 22:14Speaker 2: Christmas Eve and then I'm like, oh shit, I got
- 22:17Speaker 2: to go shopping. And I had a tradition with my
- 22:21Speaker 2: dad for many years before he stopped drinking, where we
- 22:25Speaker 2: would go to the mall on Christmas Eve as soon
- 22:28Speaker 2: as it opened. It was literally like that Mervyn's commercial
- 22:31Speaker 2: open open. We'd go in early morning because we were
- 22:35Speaker 2: just early people and start shopping. And I'll never forget
- 22:40Speaker 2: one day we both went to lunch, both had a
- 22:43Speaker 2: couple of drinks. We were actually more than a couple
- 22:46Speaker 2: of drinks, and poured ourselves into the Apple Store and
- 22:49Speaker 2: I walked out with this forty inch monitor. He walked
- 22:53Speaker 2: out with a computer, and I don't know, it was
- 22:55Speaker 2: like six thousand dollars later we got home like what happened?
- 22:58Speaker 1: How did this happen?
- 23:00Speaker 2: So we got to stop drinking on Christmas Eve, but
- 23:03Speaker 2: it was it was kind of fun to do that,
- 23:07Speaker 2: not just because I got to spend time with my dad,
- 23:08Speaker 2: but it was just like.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Okay, the pressure's on.
- 23:11Speaker 2: I got to find something for my wife or my
- 23:13Speaker 2: girlfriend or who or my family, and it was like,
- 23:17Speaker 2: go go, go, get it done, get it done. And
- 23:19Speaker 2: it all worked out. I got everybody at present, but
- 23:23Speaker 2: it was under pressure. Now at this day and age,
- 23:28Speaker 2: I just go to Amazon.
- 23:31Speaker 1: So much easier, so much easier. Yeah, I was just saying,
- 23:35Speaker 1: it's funny.
- 23:35Speaker 3: It was the same way for such a long time.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Just get last minute presence. Yeah twenty four that was me,
- 23:43Speaker 3: you know. But yeah, ted Teddy's like the queen of Amazon,
- 23:45Speaker 3: so we don't have that problem anymore.
- 23:49Speaker 2: So do you like to go to the store and
- 23:51Speaker 2: shop or is it easier for you to find? Oh?
- 23:54Speaker 3: I love, like, personally for me shopping, I love going
- 23:56Speaker 3: to a store and to find stuff on and yeah,
- 24:00Speaker 3: I hate shopping online because it's just every everything fits different,
- 24:04Speaker 3: you know.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Yeah, so I definitely like going to the store. Yeah.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I think it brings some nostalgia to like how we
- 24:13Speaker 2: grew up. We have to go to the store and
- 24:14Speaker 2: buy it.
- 24:14Speaker 1: We didn't. You can't have it delivered.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I love taking my kids to shop. I love being
- 24:21Speaker 3: able to like take somebody to get.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Them what they want. Yes, that way, it's like one
- 24:27Speaker 1: and it's funny.
- 24:27Speaker 3: I just took my daughter's shopping last week because she
- 24:30Speaker 3: was going to uh Sabrina Carpenter concert.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I think that's her name, which I should have known better.
- 24:37Speaker 3: I had a bad feeling about that because I was
- 24:40Speaker 3: had a feeling she was going to do some crazy
- 24:42Speaker 3: on stage.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Yeah, my daughter's twelve. I should have known better.
- 24:45Speaker 3: And anyway, but I took a shopping for that, And like,
- 24:50Speaker 3: I like to think that I'm pretty stylish, Like, yeah,
- 24:54Speaker 3: I know how to dress, and that's always been you know,
- 24:57Speaker 3: I was best dressed at my high school. Yeah, so
- 25:02Speaker 3: and I've kept I think I've kept up that tradition
- 25:04Speaker 3: pretty well. So I'm taking my daughter and like I
- 25:07Speaker 3: was trying to choose outfits for her because I think
- 25:09Speaker 3: I know what's cool. Apparently no, yeah, he had she said,
- 25:14Speaker 3: and I quote dad, I have my own vision of what.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I want to wear.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going let him be the How do you
- 25:24Speaker 2: do a gift giving for holidays for your spouse? So
- 25:29Speaker 2: do you ask the kids what they want to get
- 25:32Speaker 2: their mom or do you just buy something and say, hey,
- 25:35Speaker 2: this is for.
- 25:36Speaker 1: You list, They'll they'll do a little wish list and stuff.
- 25:40Speaker 2: So yeah, and they come up with some pretty good ideas.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Or are they like, I don't know what to get mom.
- 25:46Speaker 1: No, they're usually pretty good with the ideas.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Okay, this this teddy. Do the same thing with the kids.
- 25:52Speaker 2: And do you are you surprised when they give you gifts?
- 25:57Speaker 3: Num?
- 25:58Speaker 1: Are you that difficult to buy for it? I'm probably
- 26:03Speaker 1: not theiest person. That's awesome.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so funny, Like it's just nowadays it's just
- 26:10Speaker 3: like even getting gifts, I don't I'm even opening them
- 26:13Speaker 3: is like to get but it's not. It's Yeah, it's
- 26:18Speaker 3: definitely changed since I was a kid. Let's pretty do
- 26:20Speaker 3: that way now.
- 26:21Speaker 1: I like give.
- 26:22Speaker 3: I Actually, I think there's a part of me just
- 26:24Speaker 3: doesn't you know when people buying stuff, I'm just like,
- 26:28Speaker 3: you know, so you you don't have to Like, I'm
- 26:31Speaker 3: more like, save your money.
- 26:33Speaker 1: You don't need to buy me anything.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Yeah, you're more a giver than a receiver. Yeah, yeah, okay,
- 26:40Speaker 2: I I have discovered myself being more like that too.
- 26:44Speaker 2: To the point that, you know, Christmas is here, my
- 26:49Speaker 2: wife doesn't know what to get me, and she's wrapping
- 26:52Speaker 2: in all these gifts. I'm like, babe, here's one gift,
- 26:54Speaker 2: just wrap it. I'll open one gift. I'm cool with that.
- 26:57Speaker 2: And then the kids have all these gifts they opened,
- 27:00Speaker 2: and of course I get her some gifts, and and
- 27:04Speaker 2: all of a sudden, I have like seven other gifts.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I'm like, where do those come from? And it was
- 27:08Speaker 2: just little knit knacks that she, you know, buys for
- 27:11Speaker 2: for my bike or the garage or something you know,
- 27:15Speaker 2: or something that the kids come up with that it's creative, exactly,
- 27:19Speaker 2: the little thing, and they are so meaningful, so meaningful
- 27:22Speaker 2: because I know that the kids really thought it through, right,
- 27:25Speaker 2: Like the simple sign that I have in my garage
- 27:28Speaker 2: says Harley Parking. Only you know that was my daughter
- 27:31Speaker 2: who says, let's get him that. It's it's sentimental.
- 27:35Speaker 1: I love that. I love it. Yeah, all right, well
- 27:38Speaker 1: I think that's a wrap. Okay, yeah, awesome.
- 27:42Speaker 2: I wish you the best for these holidays, and yeah,
- 27:46Speaker 2: stay healthy, brother, catching up it's always.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Great catching up, all right, Happy holidays, you guys. Happy holidays, bro.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Take care,
