- 0:00Speaker 1: We have to Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Okay, here we go where the.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Plays get broken down and science gets denied to.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Come off the bench.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Hour two of Off.
- 0:09Speaker 4: The Bench Live from the Raising Kine Studio.
- 0:35Speaker 5: All right, welcome back in O TV.
- 0:37Speaker 6: Hour number two here live from Tampa, Florida. SEC Media Days,
- 0:41Speaker 6: l s U Day, Mississippi State, Texas and Arkansas here
- 0:47Speaker 6: as well. Don't I don't know, man, I got, I got.
- 0:51Speaker 6: I got a little beef with some of the Austin
- 0:54Speaker 6: stations that just showed up today.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah, there is one down here that they literally and
- 1:02Speaker 2: repeat I've ever seen them all life. Yeah, they made
- 1:04Speaker 2: a mistake. And what with the ten foot wide. I've
- 1:07Speaker 2: done it because a lot of conferences you do ten
- 1:09Speaker 2: by tens is the booth you get. So you get
- 1:11Speaker 2: a ten foot wide you want to come out, but
- 1:13Speaker 2: most of the times you're in like little hotels like
- 1:15Speaker 2: this and it's actually eight by ten.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Yeah, so you've you've messed this up.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I was watching them do it. I was like, rookies,
- 1:24Speaker 2: big dumb dumbs.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Yeah, just show up for Texas Days over Texas.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Day, Like that's that's Texas fans man. So true, that's
- 1:31Speaker 2: Texas fans.
- 1:33Speaker 6: I grew up with him. You know what. Yeah, what
- 1:36Speaker 6: is the breakdown there in Tyler? A little mixed bag. Yeah,
- 1:39Speaker 6: it's a mixed ban.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I think that's probably most places in Texas. It's pretty
- 1:42Speaker 2: mixed bad, except it's like the actual town.
- 1:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Uh yeah, Texas fans, there's there was a lot. There
- 1:48Speaker 2: was probably fewer Baylor fans growing up, but I'm sure
- 1:50Speaker 2: there's more now.
- 1:52Speaker 6: A little bit sexier now you say Baylor fans. Yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 6: like sickle. Yeah, that was just Gigham. I thought I
- 2:01Speaker 6: was just or hook him and they're offspring. Yeah, yeah, there's
- 2:08Speaker 6: more did not a lot too. Yeah, Yeah, you're the trader.
- 2:14Speaker 5: I was the trader. You traded man, not a big deal.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Appreciate that they were all happy. Probably not. Actually, actually
- 2:21Speaker 5: Baylor was not really I think.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I think I think my senior year in two thousand
- 2:26Speaker 2: and two thousand and two, it was.
- 2:29Speaker 5: A guy Morris' first year.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Baylor came coming from Kentucky, Kentucky, Yeah, and he
- 2:34Speaker 2: was not real nice to my dad and one like
- 2:36Speaker 2: during the recruiting stuff. Yeah, he was like, you know,
- 2:39Speaker 2: if it was me, I wouldn't send my son to
- 2:42Speaker 2: Baton Rouge Louisiana, and my dad was like, excuse me, Like,
- 2:46Speaker 2: you don't think that I've done my research on this
- 2:49Speaker 2: thing because my dad played He played quarterback there in
- 2:51Speaker 2: the sixties, so a lot of people thought he was
- 2:53Speaker 2: a shoeing and my dad kind of lost lost some
- 2:57Speaker 2: you know, really for a little bit, had some friends
- 3:00Speaker 2: over my guys, you'll think you are horrible.
- 3:04Speaker 6: Yeah, Chipping Joanna don't even live in Waco yet, what
- 3:07Speaker 6: are you selling here?
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah? My god, guy Morris people it relaxed.
- 3:15Speaker 6: It was always whenever you had to call the coach
- 3:18Speaker 6: to turn them down. It wasn't very fun, as as
- 3:21Speaker 6: you know. Well, seventeen for you, twenty three for me.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Yeah, obviously you.
- 3:24Speaker 5: Know, it wasn't very fun to have to do that.
- 3:27Speaker 2: No, wasn't.
- 3:27Speaker 5: I wasn't having to call Mac Brown and a hate coach.
- 3:31Speaker 6: I appreciate everything you did, and I appreciate you offering.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Me I did.
- 3:36Speaker 6: We've talked about if lsu ever offered me what, it
- 3:40Speaker 6: was probably going to be.
- 3:43Speaker 5: Lu lu He was.
- 3:44Speaker 6: By the way, Mac was awesome. There were some coaches.
- 3:47Speaker 6: I don't even remember who the Miami coach was. He
- 3:49Speaker 6: was a bum about it, but Mac was awesome. Yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 6: he's always been.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Ah, that's what he was known for growing up, Like
- 3:56Speaker 2: he was always known for being a very high level recruiter,
- 4:00Speaker 2: one of those guys that could get along with anybody,
- 4:02Speaker 2: could tell stories, could just draw you in as a
- 4:05Speaker 2: human being, and that was one of the reasons why
- 4:07Speaker 2: he was so successful. Now, I think it's his football
- 4:12Speaker 2: coaching probably went downhill a little bit, but not his
- 4:16Speaker 2: relationship build. And I think he's back in Austin. I
- 4:18Speaker 2: think he's back in Austin and.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Doing that bold makes sense and.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Probably I don't know what an official capacity, but certainly
- 4:25Speaker 2: helping around, helping around the the program.
- 4:28Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, absolutely should be no doubt about it.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Or I see, I think River's going over there to
- 4:36Speaker 2: check the podium right now, Lane Kiffin should be, you know,
- 4:42Speaker 2: hopefully any minute now. We can't sit here and promise
- 4:46Speaker 2: you exactly what time, but any minute now be taking
- 4:49Speaker 2: the podium and we will be.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Yep, we'll be bringing you that.
- 4:51Speaker 6: I got a Ladra and Cassie back in studio doing
- 4:55Speaker 6: a great job listening out for it as well.
- 4:57Speaker 5: They're going to be able to throw it up carry
- 4:58Speaker 5: it for you.
- 4:59Speaker 6: So look forward to that and again, I hope we
- 5:02Speaker 6: do it and he's gonna have an opening statement. I
- 5:03Speaker 6: don't know how long it's going to be, but I
- 5:05Speaker 6: hope we do get some actual football stuff in there.
- 5:07Speaker 2: If you had to ask him one question, See.
- 5:09Speaker 6: Don't ask me that because you're not gonna like to answer.
- 5:12Speaker 6: I'm gonna ask about football. Let me ask about Texas nose.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Well, I would not like it.
- 5:17Speaker 6: Well, you know what I mean. It's like a general
- 5:18Speaker 6: like people aren't gonna like it. I wouldn't be like
- 5:21Speaker 6: anything old. I would ask him. LSU was one hundred
- 5:24Speaker 6: and twenty six in rushing last year. You are a
- 5:27Speaker 6: guy that has a point of emphasis to run the football.
- 5:29Speaker 6: You do it as well as anybody in the country.
- 5:31Speaker 6: You had a back Keewan Lacy that was one of
- 5:33Speaker 6: the best one over fifteen hundred yards last year, had
- 5:35Speaker 6: three hundred plus carries.
- 5:38Speaker 5: What are you going to do.
- 5:39Speaker 6: To fix the LSU running attack that's been really bad
- 5:41Speaker 6: outside of Jayden Daniels for a long time. Yeah, that
- 5:44Speaker 6: would be my question. I had thought about it.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Go get your hand up.
- 5:48Speaker 5: He could see these dab he right right right here.
- 5:52Speaker 2: You think anybody's gonna have their hand up for a
- 5:54Speaker 2: question with four Lane, any of the media.
- 5:58Speaker 5: Members probably they don't really care.
- 6:00Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, you know, so this is your second year
- 6:02Speaker 6: to do this typically on Thursday. There's zero juice in
- 6:05Speaker 6: this nothing, there's nothing here and it is what it is,
- 6:09Speaker 6: Eli drink, which you should like make fun of himself
- 6:11Speaker 6: talking about it all the time. That's not gonna be
- 6:13Speaker 6: the case today. There's gona be plenty of people in there.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I would kind of ask him the question that I
- 6:18Speaker 2: asked with I was like, for you know, there's a
- 6:21Speaker 2: lot of things, there's a lot of things that you're
- 6:25Speaker 2: carrying going into the season. It's your first year. What
- 6:28Speaker 2: is your determining factor? What is the bar you've set
- 6:31Speaker 2: for a successful season.
- 6:33Speaker 5: All right, well, we're.
- 6:33Speaker 6: Gonna find out the questions that are being asked. We
- 6:36Speaker 6: are going to throw it back to studio. Alandra Cassi
- 6:39Speaker 6: going to have Lane Kiffin live from the podium.
- 6:42Speaker 5: Here for you on OTB CAL.
- 6:46Speaker 7: The last paragraph I have I call the someone give.
- 6:50Speaker 5: Knocks a hug for me paragraph.
- 6:53Speaker 7: Last year, I introduced Lane by talking about his prolific
- 6:57Speaker 7: social media activity. As of this morning, Lane has been
- 7:01Speaker 7: off of social media since May eleventh, I'm told he
- 7:06Speaker 7: gave it up because of a challenge from his son Knox.
- 7:09Speaker 7: Thus my suggestion that someone give Knocks a hug for
- 7:12Speaker 7: me who told his dad? Who told his dad, you
- 7:15Speaker 7: spend too much time on social media. Welcome to the podium.
- 7:19Speaker 7: LSU had football coach Lane Kiffin.
- 7:36Speaker 8: Well, thank you, Commissioner. You know, I met the commissioner
- 7:41Speaker 8: seventeen years ago I was head coach at Tennessee, and
- 7:47Speaker 8: I just think about, you know, you can never predict
- 7:50Speaker 8: the future of your life and the directions that it goes.
- 7:53Speaker 8: Seventeen years later, third SEC job. He was the associate
- 7:59Speaker 8: commission at the time and for commissioners slave and I
- 8:05Speaker 8: just have great respect for Greg and what he's done.
- 8:09Speaker 8: And then I think about the seventeen years and I
- 8:11Speaker 8: think about how far the SEC has come since then
- 8:16Speaker 8: when I first got into the conference, and through his leadership.
- 8:20Speaker 8: You know, leadership, especially in the public eye, is not easy,
- 8:23Speaker 8: and he has a really difficult job.
- 8:26Speaker 3: And I think Greg does.
- 8:27Speaker 8: An amazing job, amazing job of communicating with us as
- 8:32Speaker 8: head coaches, and we don't always agree on his decisions,
- 8:38Speaker 8: but I also understand now being around longer, and he
- 8:41Speaker 8: has sixteen schools to please in fan bases and athletic directors,
- 8:46Speaker 8: head coaches and presidents to answer to so many times
- 8:49Speaker 8: his decisions that he has to come up and I
- 8:52Speaker 8: appreciate him for the strength that he shows.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Is really he's just making a.
- 8:56Speaker 8: Decision based off what he's told to do by the
- 9:00Speaker 8: by the ads and specifically by the President.
- 9:04Speaker 3: So I appreciate Greg. I appreciate our.
- 9:06Speaker 8: Friendship and you know, kind of growing through a lot
- 9:10Speaker 8: of things together throughout the different stops of coming back
- 9:14Speaker 8: to the SEC. Tampa is a really special place. I
- 9:18Speaker 8: think it's kind of things just happen sometimes and flying
- 9:23Speaker 8: down here just kind of putting thoughts together.
- 9:27Speaker 3: You know that as a head coach of LSU, this
- 9:31Speaker 3: being the.
- 9:31Speaker 8: First time on the podium at SEC Media Day and
- 9:34Speaker 8: being in Tampa for the first time. As Greg alluded to,
- 9:38Speaker 8: this is a really special place, not just for my dad,
- 9:41Speaker 8: but for my family, my kids all for grandparents lived
- 9:46Speaker 8: here in Tampa.
- 9:47Speaker 3: This was a place that we came to.
- 9:48Speaker 8: Every summer in great memories, and the glaciers of the
- 9:53Speaker 8: Bucks have been phenomenal to our family throughout everything, and
- 9:58Speaker 8: over the last two summers of losing both parents, both
- 10:01Speaker 8: having services down here in Tampa, so really great place
- 10:05Speaker 8: and really a lot of great memories here and a
- 10:07Speaker 8: lot of appreciation for people here over our time in Tampa.
- 10:12Speaker 8: So these seven months at LSU have been awesome. It's
- 10:15Speaker 8: been amazing, you know, to come into Baton Rouge in
- 10:18Speaker 8: the state of Louisiana and the acceptance and how great
- 10:22Speaker 8: they've been to my family, and the commissioner talked about,
- 10:26Speaker 8: you know, to have a son, Knox playing on campus
- 10:30Speaker 8: and every morning they practice and then he just can
- 10:33Speaker 8: walk over from practice onto campus is really special in
- 10:37Speaker 8: how the community's been to us as family and the state,
- 10:41Speaker 8: you know, over seven months, just seeing that Louisiana has
- 10:44Speaker 8: built up hard working people that are really passionate in
- 10:48Speaker 8: love football and I think that really fits in well
- 10:51Speaker 8: with our staff and the values and principles that we
- 10:54Speaker 8: bring into our organization, into our football program. So that's
- 10:59Speaker 8: been great. There's so many things to do in Baton
- 11:01Speaker 8: Rouge and the New Orleans right up the road. It's
- 11:03Speaker 8: been great for our staff and for their families and
- 11:06Speaker 8: been very appreciative that, you know. One of the things
- 11:09Speaker 8: that has really stuck out to me has been the
- 11:12Speaker 8: alignment at LSU from the top down, you know, from
- 11:17Speaker 8: President Russ to burge osbur Athletic Director to our board
- 11:23Speaker 8: of supervisors. You know, that alignment has been great from
- 11:27Speaker 8: the first time I met with them and then a
- 11:30Speaker 8: lot of times people you know, schools recruit just like
- 11:34Speaker 8: coaches do, and then is it that way when you
- 11:36Speaker 8: get there, And it's been amazing. That alignment and commitment
- 11:40Speaker 8: to building a championship program has been great.
- 11:45Speaker 3: You know.
- 11:45Speaker 8: One of the things at LSU in taking it was
- 11:48Speaker 8: talking about, you know, the opportunities for the football players
- 11:53Speaker 8: and the ability to recruit great players around the country.
- 11:57Speaker 3: And one of those things that is branding.
- 11:58Speaker 8: That you one of the reasons you we talk about
- 12:01Speaker 8: it being just different.
- 12:02Speaker 3: You know, this week I was meeting with our Nike rep.
- 12:07Speaker 8: You know, think about how different it is for kids
- 12:10Speaker 8: and in IL opportunities to come to LSU. You know,
- 12:14Speaker 8: we have twelve football players that have in IL deals
- 12:18Speaker 8: with Nike. No school in America has more than eight.
- 12:23Speaker 8: So think about the difference of that as branding. About
- 12:26Speaker 8: coming to LSU as a football player. Jordan's Seaton, our
- 12:29Speaker 8: left tackle, has an ideal with Nike. There has never
- 12:32Speaker 8: been an offensive Lineman ever to have one in college
- 12:35Speaker 8: with Nike. So you know, that's just one of the
- 12:37Speaker 8: many things when we talk about LSU being different and
- 12:41Speaker 8: why it is a different place to come and when
- 12:44Speaker 8: you come in, the association with LSU and the branding
- 12:46Speaker 8: that goes with that nationally has has really been amazing
- 12:50Speaker 8: to see and that really goes into the blueprint of
- 12:55Speaker 8: what we're building and what I said seven months ago
- 12:58Speaker 8: and I took the job, We're coming to LSU to
- 13:01Speaker 8: sign the best players in the country out of high
- 13:04Speaker 8: school and then mix that with the best portal players
- 13:09Speaker 8: in the country and put them together. And that's led
- 13:12Speaker 8: us into this roster that we have now, which is
- 13:14Speaker 8: a really good mixture of that. You have some elite
- 13:17Speaker 8: high school players we just signed some of the best
- 13:20Speaker 8: the alignment in America. You know that'll be true freshmen,
- 13:23Speaker 8: and then some elite portal first round portal players coming
- 13:27Speaker 8: into that combination.
- 13:30Speaker 3: That roster is exciting to work with.
- 13:32Speaker 8: I can't wait to get to the field, get back
- 13:34Speaker 8: to fall camp to do that. But it also excites
- 13:38Speaker 8: me about the future of LSU two.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Not just this year.
- 13:41Speaker 8: We put together a roster that can win now, but
- 13:44Speaker 8: as I look at when you build the program, where
- 13:47Speaker 8: it really will go to another level is how you
- 13:50Speaker 8: build your depth, and that you can't necessarily build the
- 13:54Speaker 8: first year, but then you can once you sign the
- 13:57Speaker 8: high school players in back to back classes and portal players. Remember, guys,
- 14:01Speaker 8: I think the portal is thought so much about like
- 14:04Speaker 8: every portal player is a senior or a one year player.
- 14:07Speaker 8: That's not the case. A lot of times you sign
- 14:09Speaker 8: a portal player, they may have two three years of
- 14:12Speaker 8: eligibility left, so then you have them in your program.
- 14:16Speaker 8: Now you go into year two, you've coached them already.
- 14:19Speaker 8: Maybe they didn't even all the portal players aren't top players,
- 14:22Speaker 8: you know, you build your depth through that, so they
- 14:25Speaker 8: may be backups in year one and then year two
- 14:27Speaker 8: they're year starters. So that's really exciting to me that
- 14:30Speaker 8: we were able to build a roster that we can
- 14:32Speaker 8: win now and to see the success of the high
- 14:36Speaker 8: school elite players coming last year, committeing this year into
- 14:40Speaker 8: this class, and then the portal players that we're able
- 14:43Speaker 8: to sign in such a short period of time last
- 14:46Speaker 8: year and now to have a whole year leading up
- 14:48Speaker 8: to that. The future is really bright and really amazing.
- 14:52Speaker 8: At LSU of what's to come, you know, when.
- 14:58Speaker 3: You take over a program, it's really exciting. You know.
- 15:02Speaker 8: I'm really fortunate Commission. I were talking back there and
- 15:06Speaker 8: Fine Bomb, our historian of SEC, you know, gave me
- 15:10Speaker 8: the stat there's never been a head coach to have
- 15:12Speaker 8: three SEC jobs and that we're in the conference and
- 15:16Speaker 8: that's really amazing to have those opportunities and be part
- 15:20Speaker 8: of that. And it's so exciting for me when you
- 15:23Speaker 8: take over a new job. And I've just kind of
- 15:27Speaker 8: if you follow my life, I've built my life about
- 15:29Speaker 8: pushing out of comfort and that may not be for everybody,
- 15:33Speaker 8: and that's fine, that's just how I am. And so
- 15:35Speaker 8: this job has really pushed me out of comfort to
- 15:39Speaker 8: take a new job to.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Be at LSU.
- 15:41Speaker 8: Like everyone talks about the pressure of LSU and what
- 15:44Speaker 8: comes with that, and there's more things to be done
- 15:49Speaker 8: as the head coach of LSU the newhere I've been
- 15:51Speaker 8: that are asked of me, and I've really enjoyed that
- 15:55Speaker 8: and it's been exciting to do that and to rebuild
- 15:59Speaker 8: with in a program, a roster, and to come in
- 16:02Speaker 8: and a team come off of a seven and six
- 16:04Speaker 8: season and then the expectations that everybody in the media
- 16:07Speaker 8: has that we're supposed to be this great team right away.
- 16:11Speaker 8: That's an awesome challenge. You want to talk about getting uncomfortable,
- 16:14Speaker 8: that that does it. You know, expectations make you uncomfortable.
- 16:18Speaker 8: They make you not be able to just go through
- 16:21Speaker 8: motions in any aspect of your program. So that's been
- 16:25Speaker 8: awesome and I really just can't wait to get on
- 16:32Speaker 8: the field with them. You know, this has been seven months.
- 16:35Speaker 8: There's been a lot of stuff, and you have the
- 16:36Speaker 8: high school, then you have the portal, and you have
- 16:38Speaker 8: spring ball, and you have all the things. And to
- 16:42Speaker 8: just go coach with them on the field and to
- 16:46Speaker 8: put these players together and start moving the pieces around
- 16:49Speaker 8: and get them develop. That's always been something I think
- 16:52Speaker 8: we've done really well. And all also has always been
- 16:54Speaker 8: really exciting to me when you take the pieces of
- 16:57Speaker 8: a new team's new years and if you look at
- 17:00Speaker 8: our teams over the course of time, especially offensively, they
- 17:03Speaker 8: look different every year because they're based off of the pieces.
- 17:07Speaker 8: They don't just run the same plays and run the
- 17:09Speaker 8: same systems, and that that's exciting to me.
- 17:12Speaker 3: To come in and get these.
- 17:13Speaker 8: Pieces from everywhere and to put them together, but you've
- 17:16Speaker 8: got to get on the grass to do it. And
- 17:18Speaker 8: the excitement of the schedule and to coaching Tiger Stadium
- 17:22Speaker 8: and have the big opener against Clemson. Just really every
- 17:27Speaker 8: day pushes us to be the best and really is
- 17:30Speaker 8: exciting as to say to get back there. So the
- 17:32Speaker 8: three players today that we brought, that wasn't an easy choice.
- 17:35Speaker 8: We had a lot of really really good players. And
- 17:40Speaker 8: you know, we brought three players. We left Sam our
- 17:43Speaker 8: quarterback at this is an interesting time where this fell.
- 17:45Speaker 8: We actually this morning had player led practices and so
- 17:50Speaker 8: Sam was able to stay for that.
- 17:53Speaker 3: And Sam's doing an amazing job.
- 17:55Speaker 8: You know, these three players that we brought, I think
- 17:57Speaker 8: are an interesting combination because you get a little bit
- 18:00Speaker 8: of everything to me of what college football is now.
- 18:05Speaker 8: You know, TJ coming through the portal coming from Ole
- 18:10Speaker 8: Miss to LSU, haven't been here a year before with
- 18:13Speaker 8: another school. You'd never thought that happened years ago. And
- 18:17Speaker 8: so to have a portal player that left a team
- 18:20Speaker 8: to come to us, and then you have that had
- 18:22Speaker 8: a chance to go to the NFL Draft and a
- 18:26Speaker 8: lot of people would have in his situation with a
- 18:28Speaker 8: coaching change and haven't played really well, and Witt decided
- 18:33Speaker 8: to stay. He wanted to see LSU return to dominance,
- 18:37Speaker 8: to return to the style of play that he grew
- 18:40Speaker 8: up watching, which was the reason why he came here,
- 18:42Speaker 8: and he wanted to come back to make sure he
- 18:44Speaker 8: was part of that.
- 18:45Speaker 3: And then you have Trey Dez.
- 18:46Speaker 8: Of someone that in high school stayed in Louisiana, went
- 18:51Speaker 8: to LSU and now playing great and also had a
- 18:55Speaker 8: chance to go into the portal like all kids, and
- 18:58Speaker 8: decided to stay with the new staff. So I think
- 19:00Speaker 8: it's you'll really enjoy these three. And again that was
- 19:03Speaker 8: a tough decision because there's a lot of household name
- 19:06Speaker 8: players we could have brought today. You know the question
- 19:10Speaker 8: the commissioner mentioned there about social media and knocks, and
- 19:16Speaker 8: so I think, as I look back over my life,
- 19:19Speaker 8: one of the things that has been great is subtracting
- 19:22Speaker 8: things as you get older. And I think that's a
- 19:24Speaker 8: big part of growth if you really want to keep growing.
- 19:27Speaker 8: A lot of people add things as they go versus
- 19:30Speaker 8: subtracting things that are issues, whether that's diet, whether that's
- 19:35Speaker 8: in my situation, alcohol, whether that's things that are subtracted
- 19:39Speaker 8: along the way toxic relationships, things that as you grow,
- 19:43Speaker 8: you decide, Okay, I'm going to continue to grow in
- 19:46Speaker 8: Knox one days like Dad, there's no way you could
- 19:50Speaker 8: get off social media and if you know me.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Like that's the best thing to do.
- 19:55Speaker 8: My kids have learned that too, if they really want
- 19:56Speaker 8: something to say, I can't do it, and I'm going
- 19:58Speaker 8: to do it, and so I'm like, well, I bet
- 20:01Speaker 8: I can. And it really wasn't a plan, and so
- 20:04Speaker 8: I got off of all of it and then it
- 20:07Speaker 8: was still on there and then I said, okay, I'm
- 20:08Speaker 8: going to go to another level. I just deleted the
- 20:10Speaker 8: apps and wasn't a long term plan. And it was
- 20:14Speaker 8: really interesting to see as I went through it because
- 20:16Speaker 8: it Knox pushing me to do that. Challenging me allowed
- 20:20Speaker 8: me to help other players, friends, coaches to say, man,
- 20:25Speaker 8: you should try this sometime, because once you remove something
- 20:28Speaker 8: from your life, you start to realize how many other
- 20:31Speaker 8: people are addicted to it or need it. And it
- 20:35Speaker 8: is interesting. Now I've did the five am workout at
- 20:38Speaker 8: Camp Tampa and I watched as soon as the workout's
- 20:41Speaker 8: over this morning, what does ever do They rush to
- 20:43Speaker 8: get their phones because they got to get on there
- 20:45Speaker 8: and to be free of that has been interesting because
- 20:47Speaker 8: you don't compare Kevin Elko, who actually here in Tampa
- 20:51Speaker 8: did my dad's funeral. And Kevin used to say to
- 20:54Speaker 8: us years ago at Alabama and say, comparisons are the
- 20:56Speaker 8: thief of joy. And what I realized and what I
- 21:00Speaker 8: talk to people about now, is like, if you're not
- 21:02Speaker 8: on anything, you don't see anything all day, you don't compare,
- 21:05Speaker 8: because now social media does what You sit there all
- 21:09Speaker 8: day long and you start to compare your job, you
- 21:11Speaker 8: start to compare the city you live, and you start
- 21:13Speaker 8: to compare your vacation, your kids, your clothes, your car,
- 21:16Speaker 8: your significant other. And when you don't see that all day,
- 21:20Speaker 8: you're free of that comparison. So it's been an interesting study.
- 21:24Speaker 8: I've always, you know, made our kids, our players, you know,
- 21:28Speaker 8: not have their phones in certain times, you know, like
- 21:31Speaker 8: team meetings and stuff, just to get them off.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Of them so they can learn to communicate.
- 21:35Speaker 8: But it's just been it's been interesting in a way
- 21:40Speaker 8: of being more present. So I appreciate knocks challenging me
- 21:43Speaker 8: on that, and it's been great.
- 21:46Speaker 5: You know.
- 21:46Speaker 3: The other question I get is the.
- 21:47Speaker 8: Nine game schedule, and like I said, I don't don't
- 21:51Speaker 8: always agree with the commissionerybody has hard decisions to make,
- 21:53Speaker 8: and we understand that. My concern was about the nine
- 21:58Speaker 8: games is that you're going to lose non conference games.
- 22:02Speaker 8: Teams will eventually get out of the bigger non conference
- 22:05Speaker 8: games because the selection process is not fixed and tel
- 22:10Speaker 8: that is fixed to really truly reward.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Strength of schedule.
- 22:18Speaker 8: I was against it because I think what you're going
- 22:20Speaker 8: to have is more conference losses and you don't prove anything.
- 22:24Speaker 8: If I'd keep playing we're all in the same counts,
- 22:26Speaker 8: we keep playing each other, we don't really prove that
- 22:28Speaker 8: we're better than anyone else, and we're taking away out
- 22:32Speaker 8: of conference games. So I just think that it's going
- 22:36Speaker 8: to cause issues that we've already seen until we can
- 22:38Speaker 8: get into a world where people can actually look at
- 22:42Speaker 8: teams and say that team that is nine and three
- 22:45Speaker 8: with their schedule as a better team than that eleven
- 22:48Speaker 8: and one in a different conference, which now I think
- 22:50Speaker 8: we aren't even close to doing that.
- 22:53Speaker 3: I think it caused the problem because we.
- 22:55Speaker 8: Don't have enough non conference in our sport, you know,
- 22:59Speaker 8: I look at other sports like baseball, Oklahoma just wins
- 23:02Speaker 8: the national championship in baseball, well, I think they're fourteen
- 23:08Speaker 8: and sixteen and SEC play Think about that in football,
- 23:12Speaker 8: would be nowhere near the playoffs, you know, on eleventh
- 23:14Speaker 8: in regular season and they win the national championship. But
- 23:18Speaker 8: they also have non conference games to show how good
- 23:21Speaker 8: they are. And so I just think that the system
- 23:25Speaker 8: wasn't ready for that change yet until they changed the
- 23:29Speaker 8: selection part.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Last part, I just want to say thank you to
- 23:32Speaker 3: the media. You know, everybody talks.
- 23:34Speaker 8: These coaches get up here and I see the things
- 23:36Speaker 8: you know on TV watch the day they talk about
- 23:39Speaker 8: their summer and everything they did and all those things.
- 23:41Speaker 8: And you guys giving up your time here in your
- 23:43Speaker 8: summer to be here to cover.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Us, and specifically to the SEC media. It's part of
- 23:48Speaker 3: what makes.
- 23:48Speaker 8: The SEC so special because the intensity of the media
- 23:52Speaker 8: and the coverage and the passion that everyone talks about.
- 23:54Speaker 3: The fans have, well the media has it too. So
- 23:57Speaker 3: I appreciate you guys. And with that, open to question.
- 24:00Speaker 9: All right, if you have a question, we have Lauren
- 24:02Speaker 9: Payton and Lane who have microphones. Come up here and
- 24:05Speaker 9: we'll start right here in front of me. Coach second
- 24:07Speaker 9: row Kirk right in the middle.
- 24:12Speaker 10: Kurt Bowls from the Houston Chronicle. Lane asked you a
- 24:15Speaker 10: few years ago what you're in al budget was at
- 24:17Speaker 10: Old Miss and you didn't say, but you just said, God,
- 24:21Speaker 10: I'd like to tell you. I was going to give
- 24:23Speaker 10: you a second chance today, ask you what you're in
- 24:26Speaker 10: al budget at lsu IS And do you think we're
- 24:29Speaker 10: ever going to see the day where every team's payroll
- 24:32Speaker 10: and every player's salary is published.
- 24:37Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't know that we're going to see that day.
- 24:38Speaker 8: I think that again, this is a really hard thing
- 24:43Speaker 8: to get to. But if to do it right, just
- 24:46Speaker 8: like the scheduling would need to be fixed and would
- 24:51Speaker 8: be to have a real salary cap. And I know
- 24:54Speaker 8: what looked like it was going to be implemented, you know,
- 24:56Speaker 8: coming with the revenue sharing that that's not I think
- 25:00Speaker 8: I've always been the coach up here to just tell
- 25:01Speaker 8: you how it is that that's that's not being followed because.
- 25:04Speaker 3: It's not a real cap. It's not a hard cap.
- 25:06Speaker 8: So that'd be like in the NFL, like hey we
- 25:08Speaker 8: have this cap, but it's not a hard cap and
- 25:10Speaker 8: you can go above it. So it's just really a
- 25:15Speaker 8: poor system. And like you said, things aren't public. You know,
- 25:22Speaker 8: the contracts are our public so different than the NFL.
- 25:25Speaker 8: You know, where the NFL everybody has the contracts of
- 25:27Speaker 8: all the players and the other teams and everything, and
- 25:30Speaker 8: then you have long term contracts.
- 25:33Speaker 11: You know.
- 25:33Speaker 8: I think one of the things too, is you you
- 25:36Speaker 8: know I talk about this system of I believe you
- 25:38Speaker 8: build a system based off of where you are. We
- 25:40Speaker 8: talked about you build your offensive system off your players.
- 25:45Speaker 8: You build your system of how many portal players high
- 25:47Speaker 8: school players. In my opinion, it's not hey, here's the
- 25:49Speaker 8: cookie cutter formula. Wherever you are, you go to LSU.
- 25:53Speaker 8: You do it different, and you did it all mess
- 25:56Speaker 8: and so as you build it though, you know, you
- 25:59Speaker 8: can't say, in my opinion, some people will say, okay,
- 26:03Speaker 8: the traditional.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Power should just build through high school.
- 26:06Speaker 8: Well you study the NFL and they say, okay, well, yes,
- 26:09Speaker 8: the best teams overtime, you will sustain the longest by
- 26:12Speaker 8: building through the draft and supplement through free agency, because
- 26:16Speaker 8: that's where the long term contracts are at the lower
- 26:18Speaker 8: prices than the free agency. But our system doesn't have that. Now,
- 26:23Speaker 8: if you could fix it, where the high school kids,
- 26:26Speaker 8: my opinion, they should be lower just like I was
- 26:30Speaker 8: in the NFL when we drafted JaMarcus Russell before they
- 26:34Speaker 8: moved down the rookie salary cap and then they made
- 26:36Speaker 8: the slots for the draft because the veterans the rookies
- 26:39Speaker 8: were getting paid more than ten year events. Well, they
- 26:42Speaker 8: got that fixed, and that in our systems a little
- 26:45Speaker 8: bit screwed up.
- 26:45Speaker 3: In my opinion.
- 26:46Speaker 8: The kids that haven't played at all coming out of
- 26:48Speaker 8: high school should be making less than that. There should
- 26:51Speaker 8: be a freshman like a rookie cap of how they are,
- 26:55Speaker 8: and then the max slots per position that they make,
- 26:59Speaker 8: and then they they're signed to multi year contracts. So
- 27:02Speaker 8: now you really do get into Okay, you build through
- 27:04Speaker 8: high school because that guy can stay longer. I think
- 27:07Speaker 8: if you built through high school, now that's all you did,
- 27:10Speaker 8: and I think a couple of schools have done that
- 27:11Speaker 8: and it's not working out well because you don't have
- 27:14Speaker 8: they can leave after year one when they don't play
- 27:17Speaker 8: as much as they like, or they want more money,
- 27:18Speaker 8: or they do play and then they want more money.
- 27:21Speaker 8: So that's why we built so much through the portal
- 27:27Speaker 8: and will continue to build a lot through the portal
- 27:29Speaker 8: because of the way the system is even though we
- 27:32Speaker 8: can sign great elite, top one hundred high school players
- 27:35Speaker 8: like we just did, like what's committing to us. But
- 27:38Speaker 8: we're still going to build a lot through the portal
- 27:40Speaker 8: until they balance out the system and they balance out
- 27:43Speaker 8: how contracts work.
- 27:45Speaker 9: Coach, we'll go over here to our left hand side,
- 27:47Speaker 9: third row.
- 27:50Speaker 12: Hey, Coach Michael Bradden from that SEC podcast. When you
- 27:54Speaker 12: were at Ole Miss, you led them to the third
- 27:56Speaker 12: most wins in the conference since twenty two. You had
- 27:59Speaker 12: ten players drafted or signed his free agents in the
- 28:02Speaker 12: twenty five draft, eight players drafted or signed his free
- 28:05Speaker 12: agents in the twenty six class. You had a top
- 28:08Speaker 12: four portal class each of the last three portal cycles
- 28:11Speaker 12: you were there.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Jackson Dorritt first round pick.
- 28:15Speaker 12: Yet in a Vanity Fair article you said Oxford diversity
- 28:20Speaker 12: hurt you in talent acquisition. So what is it your
- 28:23Speaker 12: belief that if there was a little bit more diversity
- 28:26Speaker 12: all those numbers I cited could have been even better.
- 28:30Speaker 3: I had a feeling that was going somewhere.
- 28:32Speaker 8: You were doing like really positive stuff the whole way through.
- 28:34Speaker 3: I'm like, man, this guy's good.
- 28:36Speaker 8: It sounds like you should work for Jimmy Sexton man,
- 28:39Speaker 8: You're like going a good direction there. You know, I
- 28:44Speaker 8: made a challenging decision and change, and I think as
- 28:49Speaker 8: I look back to that, I thought I could find
- 28:52Speaker 8: a way for everybody to understand. And now as I
- 28:55Speaker 8: look back later on, that was never going to happen.
- 28:57Speaker 8: And I made a decision that I change jobs. And
- 29:01Speaker 8: as I get older and I go through things and
- 29:03Speaker 8: losing both parents, I was actually talking to Ross Dellinger
- 29:08Speaker 8: and I kind of said something that might sound kind
- 29:10Speaker 8: of funny to you, but you know, I watched the
- 29:13Speaker 8: Hulk Hogan Special and I realized and I was like,
- 29:18Speaker 8: we're all going to die, and so some of the
- 29:21Speaker 8: things that we put importance do we worry about and
- 29:24Speaker 8: what this person says.
- 29:25Speaker 3: And that like really aren't going to matter.
- 29:27Speaker 8: And when I lost my dad, I started thinking that,
- 29:29Speaker 8: and I really started thinking when I grew up, there
- 29:31Speaker 8: were two people that I thought just wouldn't die, my
- 29:35Speaker 8: dad and Hulk Hogan. And then I watched that special
- 29:38Speaker 8: and really, like.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Hulk Hogan died too.
- 29:40Speaker 8: There's no way Hulk Hogan was ever going to not
- 29:42Speaker 8: wrestle and die, and he did, and so it just
- 29:45Speaker 8: made me reflect really on, like I can't be so
- 29:49Speaker 8: concerned about little things and what people say in this
- 29:52Speaker 8: and you got to make decisions. You got to go
- 29:53Speaker 8: with them, and you do things, and you make really
- 29:56Speaker 8: good decisions, and you make poor decisions.
- 29:58Speaker 3: And that was a poor usage of a term that.
- 30:01Speaker 8: I believe, just like many coaches that have been therefore,
- 30:04Speaker 8: was factual, but over the course of a longer interview,
- 30:08Speaker 8: was bad timing.
- 30:09Speaker 3: And bad usage of the words. So it is what
- 30:13Speaker 3: it is.
- 30:13Speaker 8: I apologize when I said it, and moving on.
- 30:19Speaker 9: Got time for two more We'll start here in the center.
- 30:21Speaker 11: Aisle Hey coach Darryl Dappers locked on Albard after a
- 30:26Speaker 11: two year hiatus. Alvard and LSU play again this year.
- 30:30Speaker 11: Talk about what that game means to you. There seems
- 30:32Speaker 11: to be a nice little rivalry with Albard and some
- 30:35Speaker 11: of the things in the past. And how is Malik
- 30:37Speaker 11: blocked and progressing for you?
- 30:40Speaker 8: Yeah, Malik's doing great, really working hard, made a lot
- 30:44Speaker 8: of plays in springball.
- 30:47Speaker 3: I think Auburn's a great program.
- 30:50Speaker 8: I think they got new energy with the coaching staff
- 30:52Speaker 8: and a really good offensive system coming in and keeping
- 30:55Speaker 8: Dj Dirkin on defense. I think that you know they're
- 30:59Speaker 8: going to be a really improved program, and that's a
- 31:02Speaker 8: really hard place to play always and really gives people
- 31:05Speaker 8: a lot of problems. Kind of a magical stadium that
- 31:08Speaker 8: magical things happening. So that's one of one of many
- 31:13Speaker 8: extremely competitive games we have, including really for the first
- 31:17Speaker 8: time that you have five road conference games.
- 31:21Speaker 9: Which we'll go one final question over here on our
- 31:23Speaker 9: right hand sign over to the writings.
- 31:26Speaker 3: Hey coach this way the other way. Yep.
- 31:30Speaker 13: I'm Eddie Pel's from AP. I think at some point
- 31:34Speaker 13: after your social media cleanse, Congress introduced a bill that
- 31:39Speaker 13: has a thing in it called the Laane Kiffen Rule.
- 31:42Speaker 13: It's about coach movement. I think with that and with
- 31:47Speaker 13: a lot of the things that have been said about
- 31:50Speaker 13: your move I'm just wondering, do you think you get
- 31:53Speaker 13: a bad rap about you know that they look at
- 31:59Speaker 13: you sometimes say that's the problem with everything. Do you
- 32:02Speaker 13: think you get a bad rap?
- 32:05Speaker 3: Well?
- 32:05Speaker 8: The good thing is I don't know if I do,
- 32:07Speaker 8: because I don't read anything. So it really is a
- 32:10Speaker 8: different way of not seeing. Like you just said that,
- 32:12Speaker 8: and I didn't know that until you said it. You know,
- 32:17Speaker 8: I guess in that I hope that some way for
- 32:20Speaker 8: future coaches they're not put in that situation. You know,
- 32:22Speaker 8: the NFL, you're never put in that situation because of
- 32:25Speaker 8: the calendar and because of the rules of movement within seasons.
- 32:28Speaker 8: So I do hope for future people that's that's fixed
- 32:31Speaker 8: so that you're not in that same predicament for players.
- 32:34Speaker 8: For coaches, which really was a player issue too, and
- 32:38Speaker 8: then we fix that with moving the portal date back.
- 32:41Speaker 8: That was more of an issue earlier in the postseason too,
- 32:45Speaker 8: as you saw players having to leave teams to get
- 32:47Speaker 8: into the portal during the season. So hopefully some way
- 32:50Speaker 8: they fix it for coaches too.
- 32:53Speaker 9: All right, Coach Givin, thank you for your time this morning.
- 32:55Speaker 8: All right, guys, thank you.
- 33:02Speaker 6: All right, that was LSU head coach Lane Kiffin at
- 33:06Speaker 6: the podium. There a lot to get to and also
- 33:09Speaker 6: a lot of breaks to get to to try to

- 34:48Speaker 2: monologue for over twenty minutes, so there wasn't a lot
- 34:52Speaker 2: of time for questions. Yeah. I don't think that was planned.
- 34:55Speaker 6: I don't know it should Hey I would have done it, yeah,
- 34:59Speaker 6: for sure, same way.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Uh, but you made a great point.
- 35:02Speaker 6: He got asked four questions and one guy asked him
- 35:04Speaker 6: about Auburn.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Yeah, four questions and one guy asked him about Auburn.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Exactly the fireworks we were hoping for.
- 35:09Speaker 5: Right there.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Was like, wow, we didn't prep for the Auburn question
- 35:13Speaker 2: I was gonna get.
- 35:15Speaker 6: Uh he did mention hull Kogan, so a shout out,
- 35:17Speaker 6: yes ww fan.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Yep that was we didn't learn a lot from the questions. Yeah, no,
- 35:21Speaker 2: he did, but you know he talked to he got
- 35:25Speaker 2: a little deep he did.
- 35:27Speaker 5: You know.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Part of his decision making Yeah, was you know, the
- 35:31Speaker 2: realization after people in his life have died that you know,
- 35:34Speaker 2: you only lived once, so right, Uh, make the decisions
- 35:38Speaker 2: that make you happy.
- 35:38Speaker 6: So, yeah, I didn't even think about the aspect of
- 35:41Speaker 6: him coming to Tampa.
- 35:42Speaker 5: And he probably grew up in Tampa.
- 35:44Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean as a young you know, I'm saying
- 35:46Speaker 6: that grew up you know, as a.
- 35:48Speaker 5: Teenager and young adult.
- 35:50Speaker 6: His dad's a defense coordinator here for a long time,
- 35:53Speaker 6: so probably something pretty special about this place.
- 35:55Speaker 5: We certainly heard him mention that.
- 35:57Speaker 6: So yeah, I was I mean, I was hopeful that
- 35:59Speaker 6: somebody he would ask him a football question about the
- 36:01Speaker 6: team he's coaching.
- 36:02Speaker 5: Now we didn't. We didn't get that, which is fine.
- 36:05Speaker 6: It's it's not something that I really expected to happen.
- 36:09Speaker 6: I'm going to have him a little bit later on
- 36:11Speaker 6: today on Serious XM, so hopefully we can talk a
- 36:14Speaker 6: little bit more football than we did here in that moment.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Yeah, certainly, with four questions, you're not going to get
- 36:19Speaker 2: to that. There was a couple of the first two
- 36:21Speaker 2: questions were very pointed, one being about like, what's the
- 36:25Speaker 2: you know with U you think there will over be
- 36:27Speaker 2: like some.
- 36:27Speaker 5: Sort of stable salary cap.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Do you think player salaries will be public knowledge ever published?
- 36:33Speaker 2: And things like that. So then the second question, very
- 36:36Speaker 2: well thought out. A guy was definitely trying to get
- 36:39Speaker 2: him to say something he'd asked him.
- 36:41Speaker 5: You know, you had all this talent. It was a
- 36:44Speaker 5: good setup too.
- 36:45Speaker 2: It was like, yeah, this many draft picks, you had
- 36:47Speaker 2: a first round quarterback, you had this, this and this
- 36:49Speaker 2: these years. Well do you think if there was more
- 36:52Speaker 2: diversity at Old Miss you think he could have been better?
- 36:55Speaker 2: So I thought I thought he handled the question. I
- 36:58Speaker 2: mean as well as you co.
- 36:59Speaker 6: You know what it apologized the ultimate troll I need
- 37:02Speaker 6: to apologize for. But the ultimate troll would have been like,
- 37:05Speaker 6: here's what LSU's had.
- 37:06Speaker 5: Drafted over the last right right a few times and
- 37:10Speaker 5: then rolled it off.
- 37:10Speaker 6: And so yeah, not a lot of football questions in there.
- 37:14Speaker 6: We didn't really expect there to be too much. Only
- 37:17Speaker 6: four questions, and again one was about Auburn and one
- 37:19Speaker 6: was in a way trying to talk about the Vanity
- 37:22Speaker 6: Fair article that he had. Did he already apologized apologize
- 37:24Speaker 6: again here on the podium, So all right, we do
- 37:27Speaker 6: you have to play catch up again? Like that was
- 37:28Speaker 6: a thirty minute press conference. We didn't think it was
- 37:30Speaker 6: going to go that long. So we're gonna play a
- 37:31Speaker 6: little bit of catch up here more OTB when we
- 37:33Speaker 6: come back off the bench, all right, go to Central
- 37:38Speaker 6: Plumbing dot org. Central Plumbing dot org in Central obviously
- 37:42Speaker 6: in the greater Baton Rouge area obviously, but now also in.
- 37:46Speaker 5: The laffy At area.
- 37:47Speaker 6: Central Plumbing is expanding and it's always going to be there.
- 37:51Speaker 6: Twenty four to seven, three sixty five weekend, holiday game
- 37:54Speaker 6: day does not matter.
- 37:55Speaker 5: Emergency service.
- 37:56Speaker 6: But don't forget about the upgrades they can do. Don't
- 38:00Speaker 6: forget about the tankless hot water heater if you never
- 38:03Speaker 6: want to, you know, want to run out of hot
- 38:05Speaker 6: water again, or maybe you want to do a small upgrade.
- 38:08Speaker 5: You need a new vanity, you need.
- 38:10Speaker 6: Something, a new new tile, maybe in your bathroom at
- 38:13Speaker 6: your home. They can do it all. It's not just emergencies.
- 38:16Speaker 6: It's the one stop shop Central Plumbing dot org.
- 38:17Speaker 5: Sorry, Central Plumbing.
- 38:18Speaker 2: You're plumbing experts, and they've been you're plumbing experts for
- 38:22Speaker 2: a long long time. This is a third generation company,
- 38:24Speaker 2: the Pain family. We've been doing the great work plumbing.
- 38:29Speaker 2: It's uh, we're talking waterlines, we're talking at gas lines.
- 38:31Speaker 2: And there's nothing too crazy, there's nothing too wild, big, small,
- 38:35Speaker 2: whatever it is in the plumbing game that they are
- 38:37Speaker 2: not already experts at so give them a called Central
- 38:39Speaker 2: Plumbing dot org.
- 38:41Speaker 4: Live from the twenty twenty six SEC Football Media Days
- 38:45Speaker 4: in Tampa, presented by FMOL Health, our Lady of the
- 38:48Speaker 4: Lake Relief, windows, Rev Fiber, and Farish Construction and Roofing.
- 39:12Speaker 6: All right, welcome back in OTV here live, continuing our
- 39:15Speaker 6: coverage of SEC Media Days.
- 39:19Speaker 5: Lane Kevin just took the podium.
- 39:21Speaker 6: You heard it here, and if you didn't, you can
- 39:23Speaker 6: go back in and certainly you can rewind on the.
- 39:26Speaker 5: Show and check that out a little.
- 39:30Speaker 6: I guess a little surprised by some of the questions
- 39:33Speaker 6: that Lane got. Like I was expecting either more you know,
- 39:38Speaker 6: just old miss and like got your type questions and
- 39:41Speaker 6: the one got tried, but or like maybe some football
- 39:44Speaker 6: questions and how are you gonna win games?
- 39:46Speaker 5: I don't know that. It wasn't really what I was expecting.
- 39:49Speaker 5: It was only four questions.
- 39:50Speaker 6: Lane did a good job of having that opening statement
- 39:53Speaker 6: ready to go.
- 39:54Speaker 2: But yeah, that was that was probably the plan. I
- 39:58Speaker 2: would assume let's talk long, so we don't get a
- 40:00Speaker 2: lot of questions. But I mean, there's nothing that you
- 40:06Speaker 2: can point out and be like, he didn't do this,
- 40:09Speaker 2: He didn't do that. I mean, he got four questions
- 40:11Speaker 2: and one of them was about Auburn football, which they
- 40:13Speaker 2: probably should have screamed that one. That was a waste
- 40:16Speaker 2: of time.
- 40:18Speaker 6: Hey, who you like when you get up there and
- 40:20Speaker 6: croby for I'm wrong And look.
- 40:22Speaker 5: I'm not a big Jay journalist.
- 40:23Speaker 6: Maybe in moscona hoo's right here, maybe you can answer
- 40:25Speaker 6: this question. But like, hey, we're from Locked On cos. Sorry,
- 40:30Speaker 6: that's not shot of Marl. I'm just give me an example, obviously, yep, Marlar,
- 40:33Speaker 6: would you know be good to ask a question?
- 40:35Speaker 5: It works for us. You're you're not going Yeah, you're
- 40:38Speaker 5: not going. You're not going to the LSU coach.
- 40:40Speaker 2: All Louisiana and Mississippi reporters, y'all, y'all have.
- 40:44Speaker 6: Yeah, no, no, locked on Auburn. Like, sorry, Bud, you
- 40:47Speaker 6: don't you don't need to ask a question.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Yeah right, I don't get to think about what Lane
- 40:51Speaker 2: thinks of the coach and change at Auburn.
- 40:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but look the answer you got on the second question,
- 40:59Speaker 2: the one that the guy tried to set him up
- 41:00Speaker 2: with the diversity question of the Vanity Fair article. Like
- 41:03Speaker 2: he was he was ready for that, and he would
- 41:06Speaker 2: have probably given that the same answer with multiple different
- 41:08Speaker 2: types of set up questions like that, he was ready
- 41:11Speaker 2: for it. You could tell he wanted to make sure
- 41:14Speaker 2: that people knew that he apologized for that. He was wrong.
- 41:17Speaker 2: He didn't handle that time right. He misread the room
- 41:20Speaker 2: a little bit. And look, pat the chest. We always
- 41:22Speaker 2: say you can make mistakes, just pat the chest.
- 41:24Speaker 6: Yeah, and he did. Don't do a Brendan Soresby. Yeah,
- 41:28Speaker 6: don't be like bren don't put the arms out, put
- 41:30Speaker 6: the arms on your chest. So a little bit later on,
- 41:35Speaker 6: when I get like, i'm a I'm asking football questions and.
- 41:37Speaker 5: We'll send those things.
- 41:39Speaker 6: Yeah, and we'll have them here for you on the station,
- 41:42Speaker 6: we'll probably play some of those.
- 41:44Speaker 5: Oh god, we've got to work tomorrow. Yeah, like in
- 41:47Speaker 5: the studios.
- 41:47Speaker 6: Oh yeah, today's not Friday.
- 41:51Speaker 5: Today, it's not Friday.
- 41:52Speaker 6: So we'll have it for you tomorrow then. But that way,
- 41:56Speaker 6: because I think our listeners do. Because our listeners aren't on,
- 42:00Speaker 6: they don't care, like, they don't care about all of that.
- 42:02Speaker 6: They care about winning, and they care about LSU football
- 42:06Speaker 6: and what it looks like moving forward. I'm not saying
- 42:07Speaker 6: that those other people shouldn't care about that. I'm telling
- 42:09Speaker 6: you what the people that we talked to every day
- 42:11Speaker 6: care about, and so I want to get some actual Hey,
- 42:15Speaker 6: here's where LSU was bad last year, here's where you
- 42:18Speaker 6: were really good. How do you make LSU good at
- 42:21Speaker 6: what you were good at that they were bad at?
- 42:23Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 42:23Speaker 2: I mean, how you know you're known for being an
- 42:26Speaker 2: offensive guru. Your offenses have always been really good last year.
- 42:30Speaker 2: Look at what you did at ole Miss obviously, how
- 42:33Speaker 2: fast can you implement that?
- 42:34Speaker 3: Like?
- 42:34Speaker 5: Does it not take does it not take a little
- 42:36Speaker 5: bit to cook?
- 42:38Speaker 2: You don't have to bake that a little like that
- 42:39Speaker 2: offensive strategy don't have to bake for a year? Like
- 42:42Speaker 2: can you expect the same type of production you are
- 42:46Speaker 2: known for in a short period of time with all
- 42:48Speaker 2: new people?
- 42:49Speaker 5: Yeah? All right, again, we do apologize.
- 42:53Speaker 6: We were going you know, we carried the entire press conference,
- 42:56Speaker 6: but we're gonna have to play a little catch up
- 42:57Speaker 6: here with some of the breaks.
- 42:59Speaker 5: So this will be the last one that.
- 43:00Speaker 6: We have to catch up on and then we kind
- 43:02Speaker 6: of get back onto our normal clock. So one more
- 43:05Speaker 6: break here, then we're back to a normal clock. More
- 43:07Speaker 6: OTB when we come.
- 43:08Speaker 1: Back off the bench.
- 43:13Speaker 6: All right, go to Russellpool's dot Com the West Side

- 44:09Speaker 2: and they are the experts over there at everything pool,
- 44:12Speaker 2: So go check them out. Russellpools dot Com.
- 44:15Speaker 4: Live from the twenty twenty six SEC.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Football Media Days in.
- 44:19Speaker 4: Tampa, presented by FMOL Health, our Lady of the Lake, Relief, Windows,
- 44:23Speaker 4: rev Fiber and Farish Construction and Roofing.
- 44:36Speaker 6: All right, welcome back at OTV, continuing our coverage SEC
- 44:40Speaker 6: Media Days here live from Tampa. Trade As Greenstall, Hey,
- 44:47Speaker 6: my gosh.
- 44:50Speaker 3: That fiction.
- 44:51Speaker 2: We were both like, oh, man, this tall because we're
- 44:53Speaker 2: just like sorted talking about man looks really tall today.
- 44:56Speaker 2: I guess, you know, most people don't think about him
- 45:00Speaker 2: being tall, but he you know, he's formidable height and
- 45:04Speaker 2: saying it next to trade As looks like a shorty. Yeah,
- 45:08Speaker 2: and everybody does.
- 45:10Speaker 5: Yeah, it's fine, everybody does.
- 45:12Speaker 6: We don't have the time here in this because again
- 45:14Speaker 6: play a little catch out from the Lane Kiffing press conference.
- 45:17Speaker 6: But in the next hour I do want you to
- 45:21Speaker 6: kind of tell the people what you can do with
- 45:24Speaker 6: a tight end in your offense.
- 45:26Speaker 5: That's a cheat code like that.
- 45:27Speaker 6: Yeah, because you've played with some really good ones in
- 45:29Speaker 6: your career, a lot of different skill sets. I would
- 45:32Speaker 6: say as well, but guys that were very effective and
- 45:35Speaker 6: as a quarterback, I think there's things that when you
- 45:37Speaker 6: have a tight end that is oftentimes the best player
- 45:41Speaker 6: on the field, that gives you so many advantages and
- 45:44Speaker 6: you can utilize it in so many different ways. And
- 45:47Speaker 6: that's that's our hope for trade as Green. Yeah, I
- 45:49Speaker 6: mean it is.
- 45:50Speaker 2: It's a weapon that is I got like that. It's
- 45:55Speaker 2: a it's a unicord, right. It's not many people ever
- 45:58Speaker 2: in their coaching career getting opportunity to coach a guy
- 46:01Speaker 2: like that that has that many weapons. Athletic, tall, lanky. Now,
- 46:07Speaker 2: of course there's more and more teams using more and
- 46:09Speaker 2: more tight ends, but a guy like that that you
- 46:11Speaker 2: cant split out one on one you can put in
- 46:13Speaker 2: the box like he creates so many disadvantages for the
- 46:16Speaker 2: other team and so many advantages for you. So yeah,
- 46:19Speaker 2: it's gonna be the challenge. I mean it certainly it's
- 46:21Speaker 2: pressure for the coaching stuff to figure out on how
- 46:24Speaker 2: to utilize them but not force the.
- 46:26Speaker 5: Ball to them.
- 46:26Speaker 6: Yeah, so I do want to talk about that also,
- 46:29Speaker 6: how you don't fall into the tendencies with a tight
- 46:30Speaker 6: end like that. So we will start off our number
- 46:33Speaker 6: three of OTB with that when we come back off
- 46:36Speaker 6: the bench, all right, go to KTZ Blinds dot com,
- 46:41Speaker 6: ktoz Blinds dot com, KZ and Tears and outdoor Living.
- 46:45Speaker 6: They've been in the game since two thousand and four.
- 46:48Speaker 6: I have Brandon Barton and team come out to your space,

- 46:55Speaker 6: They certainly will do it for you as well. It
- 46:57Speaker 6: is so impressive with how fast they can do it.
- 47:00Speaker 6: They are going to come in and you've maybe lived
- 47:02Speaker 6: your house five ten years and you think you know
- 47:03Speaker 6: it pretty well. Maybe you do, but you don't know
- 47:05Speaker 6: it as well as they're going to know it in
- 47:06Speaker 6: fifteen minutes.
- 47:07Speaker 5: It's truly amazing. Ktzyblindess dot com. It's right, kitty.

- 47:22Speaker 2: turn that outdoor living area and to an extension of
- 47:26Speaker 2: your entertaining space in your house up and down and

- 47:30Speaker 2: about ten to fifteen degrees cooler right in there when
- 47:33Speaker 2: you turn those things down. So go check the out
- 47:35Speaker 2: kitty's the interiors and outdoor living Katzy Blinds dot com
