• 1:42
Speaker 3: Uh, ford, there, it is my bad, you can hit me ford fairlane sitting over here and I'm not sure why I said that.
• 1:48
Speaker 1: I want you to know that I parked next to that car last night at the hotel and I said to Leslie I said my God, I'm not a Ford man, but that car is absolutely beautiful.
• 2:00
Speaker 1: Thank you, you have done an excellent job on that and it rumbles, the color combination, the way it's painted the black and the red everything just everything, it, just it, just it pops.
• 2:13
  Speaker 4: Appreciate it.
• 2:15
Speaker 1: Works good for me.
• 2:16
Speaker 4: I can tell you that.
• 2:17
Speaker 1: So it's an honor to be with you because you did, you do all that work yourself.
• 2:23
Speaker 4: No, sir, this car was started back in 2010.
• 2:29
Speaker 4: A gentleman by the name of troy prump, three out of miami, florida, uh it's a miami car talking about miami and he came up with the concept and went from there.
• 2:43
Speaker 4: I bought the car on Christmas Eve 2018.
• 2:48
  Speaker 3: Was that your?
• 2:48
Speaker 4: Christmas present that was my Christmas present.
• 2:50
Speaker 4: My dad had bought a brand new 57 Ford on Christmas Eve.
• 2:56
Speaker 1: And what year is this?
• 2:57
  Speaker 4: one that's a 57.
• 2:58
  Speaker 4: 57.
• 2:59
Speaker 4: And my dad bought a brand new one on Christmas Eve 56, because they'd come out in October.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: Same body style, same car, gotcha and I was six months old at the time, a brand new one on christmas eve 56, because they'd come out in october.
• 3:09
Speaker 4: Same body style, same same car and, uh, I was six months old at the time.
• 3:14
Speaker 4: My mom was mad.
• 3:14
Speaker 4: Oh, she was mad because they didn't have money to put food on the table.
• 3:16
Speaker 4: A new kid and dad goes by his new car, of course.
• 3:17
  Speaker 3: One other thing.
• 3:18
Speaker 3: What else do you do, right?
• 3:20
Speaker 4: but uh uh, the car.
• 3:22
Speaker 4: The car was basically like it is now.
• 3:24
Speaker 4: When I bought it I changed the whole interior, the whole interior idea and the trunk area.
• 3:32
Speaker 4: It originally had airbags on the front.
• 3:35
Speaker 4: I took that off and put coilovers all over at all four corners.
• 3:40
Speaker 1: How hard was that.
• 3:42
  Speaker 4: It wasn't bad.
• 3:43
  Speaker 4: It wasn't bad.
• 3:44
Speaker 4: It's got a fat man front end, which is engineered for the car.
• 3:47
Speaker 4: Uh, it's got a 4.6 mustang cobra motor and, uh, the reason it doesn't have a coyote motor is because the coyote motor hadn't come out yet so this was so.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: In other words, this is on your christmas list now the Coyote, there you go, so it's the same, except it's different.
• 4:08
Speaker 3: It's the same, but it's different.
• 4:09
Speaker 4: That is actually an SVT motor.
• 4:11
Speaker 4: It did not come out of a car, it was a leftover crate motor.
• 4:14
Speaker 2: Now you said you bought it in pretty much the condition it's in right now.
• 4:16
Speaker 2: Yes, so what have you done to it personally?
• 4:21
Speaker 2: What are the spoilers?
• 4:23
Speaker 4: You just said that A gentleman that I went to high school with his parents had an upholstery business from the time I was in high school, which was a long time ago, up until recently, and then, after the mom and dad retired, he kept the business going and so he was a real good friend of mine and I came up with the idea.
• 4:45
Speaker 4: I told him what I wanted and he said no problem.
• 4:48
Speaker 4: And uh he, he did it out of his shop and uh, he's now retired too.
• 4:53
Speaker 4: But uh, he does remarkable work and some so reasonable on the price because he's a one-man operation what's the name of his shop, because upholsters are hard to find yeah, but he's retired, now.
• 5:05
Speaker 4: oh he, never mind he retired last year.
• 5:07
Speaker 1: Neither one of y'all are paying attention, apparently.
• 5:09
Speaker 3: Well, I just missed the retired.
• 5:10
Speaker 3: I heard him talk about that.
• 5:12
Speaker 4: But the name of the business was Poor Boys Enterprises.
• 5:16
Speaker 3: The information isn't flowing down as far as we know, yeah, it's the wind blowing it back.
• 5:21
Speaker 4: The car is kind of like a Christine Seems, like every time I go somewhere in it something breaks.
• 5:27
Speaker 1: Did something break on it this trip.
• 5:28
  Speaker 4: It did what?
• 5:29
Speaker 4: I've got a bad brake caliper on the rear and I had to stop once and throw water on it to cool it off where it would unlock.
• 5:37
  Speaker 4: Oh wow.
• 5:38
Speaker 4: So it's hanging up, it's hanging up, so that's got to be addressed when we get back to the house.
• 5:43
Speaker 1: What kind of calipers have gone on it?
• 5:44
  Speaker 1: They're four-wheel disc.
• 5:45
Speaker 1: Is it a Wilwoods?
• 5:47
  Speaker 4: It's not Wilwoods, it's just.
• 5:49
Speaker 4: I'm not real sure.
• 5:52
Speaker 4: To be honest with you, I don't think they're an aftermarket actually.
• 5:57
  Speaker 2: Really.
• 5:57
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 5:58
Speaker 3: So how far did you drive it?
• 6:00
Speaker 3: It was probably let's see 100 miles here.
• 6:01
Speaker 4: Okay, it was probably.
• 6:02
  Speaker 4: Let's see 100 miles here.
• 6:04
Speaker 4: Okay, where are you from?
• 6:07
Speaker 4: Garland, texas, where Garland, that's not far?
• 6:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, and I've driven.
• 6:11
Speaker 4: You know I don't own a trailer, so everywhere I go I drive the car.
• 6:16
Speaker 4: I've been to Oklahoma City in it, been to Mena, arkansas Street, rod made up there in it, so it's relatively reliable.
• 6:22
Speaker 4: Yes, does it have an AC in it?
• 6:26
Speaker 1: Of course there in it, so it's relatively reliable.
• 6:27
Speaker 1: Yes, does it have ac in it?
• 6:28
Speaker 1: Of course it's texas.
• 6:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you got vintage air in it, it's vintage air.
• 6:31
Speaker 4: It works very well.
• 6:33
Speaker 4: It's got, uh, five speed trammock, so it's got the overdrive, and with the modern motor I get 20 miles a gallon on the highway.
• 6:39
  Speaker 4: Very nice.
• 6:40
Speaker 4: So premium premium, yes, oh boy, oh boy.
• 6:44
Speaker 1: So where did you find an SVT crate engine?
• 6:49
Speaker 4: Like I said, troy built the car.
• 6:50
Speaker 4: He found the motor somewhere.
• 6:52
Speaker 4: I don't know, went to a dealership or had some connections with Ford or whatever, but he came up with the motor.
• 6:58
Speaker 1: Because you don't hear of those sitting anywhere anymore especially in a parts department of a Ford Motor Company dealership.
• 7:06
Speaker 4: Right, you know, and those motors are hand-built.
• 7:09
Speaker 4: They've got the big seminar where the guy assigned it actually built the motor, so it's reliable.
• 7:20
Speaker 1: I sure hope our tent doesn't blow away.
• 7:22
Speaker 1: We've got a pretty good breeze blowing here.
• 7:24
Speaker 4: I have to tell you, nice, I'll take the breeze.
• 7:27
Speaker 1: You know exactly Because you've been coming in Lone Star Street Rod.
• 7:31
Speaker 4: Association remember for a while.
• 7:32
Speaker 4: Yes, I think two years ago it was 105, 110 out here.
• 7:36
Speaker 1: Oh, at least 150 is what I'm thinking.
• 7:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, I left about 11 that morning.
• 7:41
Speaker 4: I said I've had a heat stroke before.
• 7:43
  Speaker 4: I can't do this Right.
• 7:44
Speaker 4: Yeah, it was warm.
• 7:45
Speaker 4: It's a beautiful morning here, it absolutely truly is Right.
• 7:49
Speaker 1: So what do you plan on gaining on today's show New friends?
• 7:54
  Speaker 4: Always.
• 7:55
Speaker 4: You know, I wouldn't have any friends if it wasn't for the cars Sure, car people.
• 8:02
Speaker 1: Yep, well, and do you get trophied a lot?
• 8:08
Speaker 4: Every now and then.
• 8:10
Speaker 1: Just every now and then.
• 8:11
Speaker 1: Just every now and then.
• 8:11
Speaker 1: It depends on what show you put it in.
• 8:14
Speaker 4: It just depends on the judges.
• 8:16
Speaker 4: I mean, you know if you've got young judges or old judges or a lot of this day and time.
• 8:22
Speaker 4: A lot of the shows are participant judging, so all the car clubs get to vote and they vote on each other's car Sure.
• 8:29
Speaker 1: Do you take it to new events that haven't seen the car yet?
• 8:32
Speaker 4: Yes, Actually I'm planning on going to Temple in October.
• 8:37
Speaker 4: They've got a big meet down there.
• 8:42
Speaker 1: We have a friend of ours that lives there by the name of George Skelton, and George, if you're listening, he's coming to see you.
• 8:46
Speaker 4: It's the Ribs and Rods Show down there in October and last time I went I think they drew 600 or 700 cars.
• 8:53
  Speaker 4: It's a huge park.
• 8:54
Speaker 1: That would be a great place for us to get invited to yes.
• 8:57
Speaker 4: Yes, it would yeah, so pull your strings.
• 9:00
  Speaker 4: I don't have any strings.
• 9:02
Speaker 1: No strings over there.
• 9:03
  Speaker 4: I'm the oddball, I drive a Ford.
• 9:06
  Speaker 1: That's true.
• 9:07
Speaker 1: A 57 Ford Well, it is stunningly beautiful.
• 9:10
Speaker 4: And did you know?
• 9:10
Speaker 4: Ford outsold Chevrolet in 57?
• 9:12
  Speaker 4: .
• 9:13
Speaker 1: No, I did not know that.
• 9:14
Speaker 4: Yes, Ford outsold Chevrolet.
• 9:15
Speaker 1: That's interesting, especially with the iconic 57 Chevrolet.
• 9:20
Speaker 4: And what amazed me.
• 9:21
Speaker 4: I had a real good friend.
• 9:23
Speaker 4: He's passed away now.
• 9:24
Speaker 4: But and what amazed me, I had a real good friend.
• 9:26
Speaker 4: He's passed away now.
• 9:26
Speaker 4: But he worked at a Chevrolet dealership in 56.
• 9:27
Speaker 4: And when the 57 come out, the owner tried to find every 56 he could find, Because nobody liked it, he could sell them.
• 9:36
Speaker 1: and nobody liked the tail fins.
• 9:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, nobody liked the 57.
• 9:40
Speaker 4: I'll be darned, but just you know, remarkable, you know you see one Ford out of 100 Chevrolets now.
• 9:48
Speaker 1: If you think about it long enough, that was such a radical design.
• 9:53
Speaker 1: The 57 Chevrolet with the tail fins on it Right, exactly Nobody had ever seen anything like that before and I think it took a while for that to catch on, or not, because they changed it completely.
• 10:05
  Speaker 1: That's a one-year model only.
• 10:06
  Speaker 1: It's not a 55 or a 56 like behind you Right.
• 10:09
Speaker 1: The 57 is a one-year only model and the 58 completely changed Right Went back to the regular tail end on it.
• 10:18
Speaker 3: Yeah Right, quad headlights and things, yeah.
• 10:21
Speaker 4: And 58s didn't sell that well because the economy wasn't doing that well.
• 10:24
Speaker 4: Right and lights and things yeah, and 58s didn't sell that well because the economy wasn't doing that well, right so, and it was a one-year car.
• 10:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, how hard are parts to find for a 57 ford very hard.
• 10:38
Speaker 4: There's a couple of uh reproduction companies, uh carpenters one of them.
• 10:43
Speaker 4: Uh, he has a lot of stuff for the fords, but not they're, they're not well, you don't see that many of them, no, no.
• 10:52
Speaker 1: And and with you telling us that that ford outsold the 57 chevrolet, you would think that there would be a market, an aftermarket for parts for that car, but apparently not well, I'm, I'm assuming the Fords rusted real bad and Ford just wasn't as popular as Chevrolet.
• 11:13
Speaker 3: Well, and I think maybe the engine, because you think about it.
• 11:16
Speaker 3: A lot of these, like these 32s and these 27s that are sitting over here, a lot of them run Chevrolet power plants, Right.
• 11:21
Speaker 4: So the small block Chevy was really powerful.
• 11:23
  Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
• 11:30
Speaker 3: And not too many guys are going to put a small block chevy in a ford like that, exactly so that that is a no-go for me.
• 11:33
  Speaker 1: Well, that's what I'm saying I'm sorry.
• 11:33
Speaker 3: So if it's a ford, better have a ford engine, that's the popularity in it right kind of kind of loses some because of the power.
• 11:39
Speaker 3: I think that's the reason I think they weren't so popular.
• 11:41
  Speaker 3: Buy.
• 11:42
Speaker 1: Buy another car, don't put another engine in.
• 11:45
  Speaker 1: No, no.
• 11:46
Speaker 3: That's why I'm saying they didn't and that's the reason it's not popular.
• 11:48
Speaker 3: I mean, what was it?
• 11:49
  Speaker 4: 312s 272s and 312s.
• 11:52
Speaker 3: Yeah, and it just.
• 11:52
Speaker 3: You know the performance market.
• 11:53
  Speaker 3: Look at you.
• 11:54
  Speaker 1: Mars.
• 11:54
Speaker 1: How did you know about that?
• 11:56
  Speaker 3: I had one.
• 11:57
  Speaker 1: Did you?
• 12:06
  Speaker 3: I had Ford.
• 12:06
Speaker 3: No, actually I was trying to put it into a 65 Mustang instead of a 289.
• 12:07
Speaker 3: I thought bigger cubic inch and more Anyway no, that's a different story.
• 12:09
  Speaker 3: But either way.
• 12:12
Speaker 4: Yeah, speaking of Ford in a Ford, it reminded me in 2019, I took this car to cruising the coast in Biloxi.
• 12:20
Speaker 3: I probably heard about that, oh yeah.
• 12:22
Speaker 4: And Street Rotter Magazine picked that car best for it in a Ford and I got a real nice jacket and it was going to be in Street Rotter Magazine but the month it was supposed to be in is when Motor Trend bought out all the magazines.
• 12:36
Speaker 4: Yeah, and so it didn't make the magazine.
• 12:38
  Speaker 3: Killed it.
• 12:39
  Speaker 4: Killed it but.
• 12:39
Speaker 3: I got the article anyway.
• 12:40
Speaker 3: Well, that's good for you, because I was on the end when I was doing some freelance work.
• 12:45
Speaker 3: I had three magazines that Interstellar bought and just shut them down one day.
• 12:50
Speaker 4: They just said oh, no more.
• 12:51
Speaker 4: And Street Rider was one of the most popular magazines out there.
• 12:54
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I just didn't get it at all.
• 12:56
Speaker 3: I just didn't get it at all.
• 12:57
Speaker 3: It was bean counters.
• 12:58
Speaker 3: That's all I'm going to say.
• 12:59
Speaker 1: Well, the whole TV thing is all jacked up now too, because there's no more Motor Trend TV, Discovery Plus.
• 13:06
  Speaker 4: Discovery Plus.
• 13:07
Speaker 4: That Plus kills you, what?
• 13:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, you've got to stream everything.
• 13:10
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 13:11
Speaker 2: It'll get you yeah.
• 13:13
Speaker 1: Let's see how we can scam everybody out of every last nickel that they can possibly make.
• 13:20
  Speaker 1: Well, guess what?
• 13:20
  Speaker 1: I ain't watching anymore.
• 13:22
Speaker 1: I ain't either, I bet you, everybody else the same way.
• 13:26
Speaker 4: If it don't come on my dish, I don't get it.
• 13:28
  Speaker 4: There you go.
• 13:30
  Speaker 1: What a shame.
• 13:31
Speaker 1: So do you plan any other changes other than your break issue?
• 13:34
Speaker 1: Do you have any other changes in store?
• 13:36
  Speaker 4: No, not really.
• 13:37
  Speaker 4: I'm pretty satisfied, I mean.
• 13:40
Speaker 3: It seems to be, like you said, real, reliable, dependable.
• 13:43
Speaker 4: Yeah, one of the main things I get out of a car.
• 13:47
Speaker 4: If, when I get out of that car and I turn around and look at it again, I know that's the car, because I just I love.
• 13:54
Speaker 3: You still have that feel for it, yeah.
• 14:01
Speaker 4: You know, there's nothing I don't like about the car.
• 14:03
Speaker 1: I mean, I love the color, I love the stance, uh, you know I do too, and I'm not a ford guy, right, but I like it too and I had a uh, when I was in autorama a few years ago.
• 14:12
Speaker 4: Uh, the guy that judged my car which it won't do that well in autorama because it does have road, you road, you know a couple, it's a driver, it's a driver.
• 14:20
Speaker 4: So it's not an Autorama car.
• 14:21
Speaker 4: But um, the judge came around he said you know, I'm not a Ford guy, but I love this car.
• 14:28
Speaker 1: I do too, you know Well, like I said in the parking lot last night I didn't know you nothing.
• 14:34
Speaker 1: Nothing about the car Right car right I just thought wow, what a beautiful car that is it really is right, yeah, I'll have to agree I want to know how you found.
• 14:44
Speaker 1: Did you find it on the internet in miami for sale?
• 14:47
Speaker 4: ebay no shut up yes, ebay back in uh 2018 on ebay and uh.
• 14:55
Speaker 4: I called the guy and made him an offer and he said okay.
• 15:01
Speaker 4: And it was a one-family-owned car.
• 15:06
Speaker 4: He sold that to build the 4040 he had and I said I would have never sold it if this was my parents' car.
• 15:14
Speaker 3: Really yeah, it just didn't make sense to me.
• 15:17
  Speaker 3: So that means it's a two-owner.
• 15:19
Speaker 4: You're the second owner.
• 15:19
Speaker 4: Yeah, I was second owner.
• 15:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, it just didn't make sense.
• 15:21
  Speaker 4: So that means it's a two-owner.
• 15:21
Speaker 4: You're the second owner.
• 15:22
Speaker 4: Oh it is yeah.
• 15:22
Speaker 4: Yeah, I was second owner.
• 15:23
Speaker 1: Wow, well, you've been holding back on us.
• 15:25
Speaker 3: You didn't tell us that, yeah.
• 15:28
Speaker 1: And a good custodian, obviously yeah.
• 15:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm glad you drive it yeah.

• 15:54
  Speaker 3: Right.
• 15:55
Speaker 1: Absolutely, and I think that there's a lot to be said for that, and it looks as though that most of the people here do the same thing and have the same feeling about it.
• 16:02
Speaker 4: That's what this organization is about, you know.
• 16:05
Speaker 4: They say, if it's trailered, it's stolen.

• 17:50
