Speaker 1: So we won't just re elect our majorities this November.
• 0:04
Speaker 1: We'll expose the corruption and radicalism of the Democrat Party.
• 0:08
  Speaker 1: It's a lunatic, it's a party of lunatics. Will defeat
• 0:11
Speaker 1: the forces of national destruction, will complete our mission of
• 0:15
Speaker 1: national renewal, and the Republican Party will grow larger, stronger,
• 0:19
Speaker 1: and more dominant than ever before. We have a chance
• 0:22
Speaker 1: to do that because we're competing against lunatics and the
• 0:26
Speaker 1: public knows it, and they're seeing it every single day.
• 0:30
Speaker 2: If you're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with
• 0:33
  Speaker 2: Ben ferguson.
• 0:34
Speaker 3: Good Saturday morning. So nice to have you with us
• 0:36
Speaker 3: on the forty seven Morning Update. And we've got a
• 0:38
Speaker 3: big story for you. President Donald Trump goes to Memphis,
• 0:42
Speaker 3: Tennessee to talk about a massive reduction in that liberal
• 0:46
Speaker 3: city with crime statistics literally saving countless lives. So why
• 0:52
Speaker 3: did the mayor in Memphis not show up? And why
• 0:55
Speaker 3: are Democrats angry? The crime is being lowered all over
• 0:59
Speaker 3: the country. President Trump gets involved. It's forty seven Morning
• 1:03
Speaker 3: Update and it starts right now. Story number one crime
• 1:07
Speaker 3: in America. It is dropping and it's not happening by accident.
• 1:12
Speaker 3: It's happening because for the first time in years, there
• 1:15
Speaker 3: is a present in the White House who made one
• 1:17
Speaker 3: thing clear from day one. We're going to go back
• 1:21
Speaker 3: to policing. We are going to enforce the laws that
• 1:25
Speaker 3: we have on the books, and we're going to take
• 1:28
Speaker 3: our streets back so that all Americans can feel safe. Now,
• 1:32
Speaker 3: let's talk facts, because the numbers are truly incredible and
• 1:36
Speaker 3: they don't lie. Across the country, major cities are reporting
• 1:41
Speaker 3: double digit drops and violent crime in many liberal metro areas.
• 1:47
Speaker 3: Homicides are down significantly from their recent peaks, property crime
• 1:52
Speaker 3: stabilizing after years of spikes in some cities. We're seeing
• 1:56
Speaker 3: murder rates down ten to twenty percent year over year.
• 2:01
Speaker 3: Shootings are declining as targeted enforcement is ramped up under
• 2:05
Speaker 3: Trump's leadership, and law enforcement officials are pointing to some
• 2:09
Speaker 3: very specific things that are allowing for all this to happen.
• 2:14
Speaker 3: Number one, a shift in federal posture that all because
• 2:19
Speaker 3: of the President. Also a shift in priorities from federal
• 2:23
Speaker 3: law enforcement. And then the biggest part, a shift in
• 2:27
Speaker 3: leadership from the White House all the way down. Now,
• 2:31
Speaker 3: let's be honest, this didn't start in a vacuum for years,
• 2:35
Speaker 3: we were told police should be cut back, enforcement should
• 2:38
Speaker 3: be reduced, and criminals should be given more leniency and
• 2:42
Speaker 3: more second, third, fourth, fifth, and six chances. What happened
• 2:47
Speaker 3: under the Democrats plan. Crime surged, cities became less safe,
• 2:52
Speaker 3: communities paid the price, and Americans lost their lives. Then
• 2:57
Speaker 3: President Trump came in and flipped the script. From day one,
• 3:00
Speaker 3: the Trump administration said we will always back the Blue.
• 3:04
Speaker 3: That wasn't just a slogan, it literally became their policy.
• 3:09
Speaker 3: Federal support for local police departments has increased. Prosecutors were
• 3:13
Speaker 3: encouraged to pursue violent offenders aggressively, and repeat offenders were
• 3:18
Speaker 3: targeted instead of being released. And just as important, police
• 3:22
Speaker 3: morales started going back up in this country. When officers
• 3:26
Speaker 3: know the White House had their back, they got to
• 3:29
Speaker 3: do their jobs more efficiently and criminals knew it now.
• 3:33
Speaker 3: Targeting the worst offenders was also part of the plan.
• 3:37
Speaker 3: It was another major shift going after the most dangerous
• 3:40
Speaker 3: criminals first, violent repeat offenders, gang members, drug traffickers, illegal
• 3:47
Speaker 3: immigrants with hardcore criminal records. That is where ICE operations
• 3:52
Speaker 3: and federal partnerships came into play. Instead of ignoring the problem,
• 3:56
Speaker 3: the administration leaned in arresting thousands of high risk individuals,
• 4:01
Speaker 3: removing threats from communities, sending a message that lawlessness will
• 4:05
Speaker 3: not be tolerated. Now, Trump's message had always been simple
• 4:10
Speaker 3: law and order. He ran on it, and President Trump
• 4:13
Speaker 3: has been consistent saying we will not allow our cities
• 4:17
Speaker 3: to be taken over by crime. And he's emphasized that
• 4:20
Speaker 3: safety is not political, it's fundamental to a great country,
• 4:25
Speaker 3: saying every American deserves to live in a safe community.
• 4:29
Speaker 3: And that message is clearly resonating with many Americans who
• 4:33
Speaker 3: are living in really high crime neighborhoods. To law enforcement,
• 4:38
Speaker 3: the President said, hey, I got you, do your job.
• 4:40
Speaker 3: We support you. And to the criminals, the President said,
• 4:44
Speaker 3: the rules are being enforced again, so get ready because
• 4:47
Speaker 3: we're coming for you. So is it working. Yes, crime
• 4:52
Speaker 3: rates have dropped significantly. And if you want to look
• 4:55
Speaker 3: at one example of that, look at what the President
• 4:58
Speaker 3: did in Memphis, Tennessee on Monday. He said, we've fixed
• 5:03
Speaker 3: the Memphis crime problem. That obviously is my hometown. And
• 5:07
Speaker 3: President Trump declared on Monday that the crime problem has
• 5:11
Speaker 3: been solved through the Memphis Safe Task Force. Now, Trump's
• 5:16
Speaker 3: comments came during a Memphis Task Force roundtable, where he
• 5:20
Speaker 3: highlighted high levels of crime in the city the year
• 5:23
Speaker 3: he returned to the Oval office. Here's part of what
• 5:26
Speaker 3: the President had to say.
• 5:28
Speaker 1: But for years prior to our involvement, Memphis had become
• 5:31
Speaker 1: known for something else, being the murder capital of the USA.
• 5:35
Speaker 1: Then not a good title. It was averaging far more
• 5:38
Speaker 1: than one murder per day, with a crime rate higher
• 5:42
Speaker 1: than Columbia, Mexico City, or Baghdad in the year I
• 5:46
Speaker 1: shouldn't be saying this because but here's the good news.
• 5:49
Speaker 1: It's been fixed, all right. I hate to say this
• 5:52
Speaker 1: because it's so negative. That's so negative. In the year
• 5:56
Speaker 1: before I took off his Memphis so more than twelve thousand,
• 6:00
Speaker 1: five hundred violent assaults, four hundred and twenty nine rapes,
• 6:04
Speaker 1: and seven thousand, six hundred burglaries and armed romney roberts.
• 6:08
Speaker 1: And I mean, it was and getting worse. This catastrophe
• 6:12
Speaker 1: was a result of years of local politicians, judges, and
• 6:17
Speaker 1: prosecutors who sided with violent criminals over law abiding citizens.
• 6:22
Speaker 3: Over law abiding citizens. It was an average far more
• 6:26
Speaker 3: than one murder per day. That is what the people
• 6:30
Speaker 3: at Memphis were dealing with. With a crime rate higher
• 6:32
Speaker 3: than Columbia, Mexico City, or even Baghdad. That's something that
• 6:38
Speaker 3: the media never wanted you to know. He said. Crime
• 6:42
Speaker 3: levels were the products of years of local politicians, judges,
• 6:47
Speaker 3: and prosecutors who sided with the violent criminals over the
• 6:51
Speaker 3: law abiding citizens. Fox thirteen Memphis report on March eighteenth
• 6:56
Speaker 3: that overall crime in the city is down forty three
• 7:00
Speaker 3: percent compared to the same period in twenty twenty five,
• 7:04
Speaker 3: before Trump instituted the Task Force. Meanwhile, the White House
• 7:09
Speaker 3: shared figures Monday underscoring the stark drop in specific crime categories.
• 7:15
Speaker 3: Motor vehicle thefts down sixty seven percent, robberies in Memphis
• 7:20
Speaker 3: down fifty one percent, sexual assaults down thirty eight percent,
• 7:25
Speaker 3: homicides are down thirty five percent, burglaries are down thirty
• 7:30
Speaker 3: two percent, and aggravate assaults are down thirty one percent. Now,
• 7:35
Speaker 3: Trump announced back in September efforts to crack down on
• 7:39
Speaker 3: crime in Memphis on the heels of his immediate success
• 7:44
Speaker 3: in dealing with crime in Washington, d c. On September fifteenth,
• 7:48
Speaker 3: he signed a memo establishing the Memphis Task Force. And
• 7:52
Speaker 3: what happened, well, it's truly incredible. The numbers don't lie.
• 7:57
Speaker 3: Here's what the President had to say from the Oval
• 7:59
Speaker 3: Office when he started this back in September.
• 8:02
Speaker 4: Today, at the request of Governor Bill Lee of Tennessee,
• 8:07
Speaker 4: who's standing with us, as you know, I'm signing a
• 8:10
Speaker 4: Presidential memorandum to establish the Memphis Safe Task Force. And
• 8:16
Speaker 4: it's very important because of the crime that's going on
• 8:19
Speaker 4: not only in Memphis in many cities that we're going
• 8:21
Speaker 4: to take care of all of them step by step,
• 8:24
Speaker 4: just like we did in DC. We have virtually no
• 8:27
Speaker 4: crime in DC right now, and we're going to keep
• 8:29
Speaker 4: it that way. It's our nation's capital. We're going to
• 8:31
Speaker 4: keep it that way. Or we're going to federalize it
• 8:33
Speaker 4: if we had to, but we don't have to anymore
• 8:35
Speaker 4: because it's in such great share. This task force will
• 8:39
Speaker 4: be a replica of our extraordinarily successful efforts here, and
• 8:44
Speaker 4: you'll see it's a lot of the same thing. Although
• 8:46
Speaker 4: the numbers here are really something, they're really bad.
• 8:49
  Speaker 3: Now.
• 8:49
Speaker 4: We did send FBI in about four months ago to
• 8:51
Speaker 4: work and it brought some of the numbers down and
• 8:54
Speaker 4: they did a great job, and we're sending in the
• 8:57
  Speaker 4: big force. Now.
• 8:58
Speaker 3: You got to ask yourself this question. Why would the
• 9:01
Speaker 3: President of United States of America do something like this
• 9:04
Speaker 3: in liberal cities. It's because he truly believes that every
• 9:07
Speaker 3: American has the right to be safe. He said. It's
• 9:12
Speaker 3: very important because the crime that's going on not only
• 9:14
Speaker 3: in Memphis, in many cities, and we're going to take
• 9:17
Speaker 3: care of all of them step by step, just like
• 9:19
Speaker 3: we did in DC. Trump said all of this as
• 9:22
Speaker 3: he was standing by the Governor of Tennessee, Bill Lee,
• 9:26
Speaker 3: Senator Marsha Blackburn, and Bill Haggerty. Making it clear that
• 9:29
Speaker 3: we are moving forward. We have virtually no crime in
• 9:32
Speaker 3: DC right now, the President reminded the country, and we're
• 9:36
Speaker 3: going to keep it that way. He added, it's our
• 9:38
Speaker 3: nation's capital. We're going to keep it that way, or
• 9:42
Speaker 3: we're going to federalize it if we had to, but
• 9:46
Speaker 3: we don't have to anymore because it's in such great
• 9:49
Speaker 3: shape now. If you're an American and it doesn't matter
• 9:52
Speaker 3: where you live right now, you should be proud of
• 9:55
Speaker 3: the President United States of America pulling this off so
• 9:58
Speaker 3: quickly from a meeting in the Oval Office in September
• 10:02
Speaker 3: to massive reductions in crime come March. That is truly historic.
• 10:10
Speaker 3: Usually this is something politicians say take years or multiple
• 10:15
Speaker 3: election cycles. The President's doing it in a matter of months.
• 10:20
Speaker 3: Why because the President said to law enforcement, we have
• 10:25
Speaker 3: your back, do your job. And the President also made
• 10:30
Speaker 3: it clear we're not leaving. We're going to continue to
• 10:34
Speaker 3: be involved in Memphis and other cities, and there are
• 10:37
Speaker 3: more cities that we're going to be targeting soon. So
• 10:40
Speaker 3: Democrats can say all they want to that they hate
• 10:43
Speaker 3: President Trump, but the American people, it's pretty clear they're
• 10:48
Speaker 3: happy with what the President's doing right now.
