- 0:03Speaker 1: Handles show on demand on the iHeartRadio FRUM. You'll get
- 0:08Speaker 1: on this morning kai Am six forty.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Bill Handle here on a Wednesday morning.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Hum day, Wednesday, and we are yesterday was the sun
- 0:20Speaker 1: was out. I'm assuming the rains come back today if
- 0:24Speaker 1: I'm not mistaken, and don't know where, or tomorrow or
- 0:27Speaker 1: the day after that or not until next year. I
- 0:31Speaker 1: usually defer to Amy in dealing with weather. So will
- 0:37Speaker 1: do you have weather, because I don't pay attention. Tomorrow
- 0:39Speaker 1: Tomorrow excellent, all right, tomorrow, fair enough. Yesterday, it was
- 0:44Speaker 1: a very interesting day in the White House.
- 0:47Speaker 2: President Trump.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Dismissed the question about the twenty eighteen murder of Jamal Kashogi.
- 0:54Speaker 1: He had the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed
- 1:00Speaker 1: been salmon in the White House, and man, there was
- 1:03Speaker 1: he pulled out all the stops when the Crown Prince arrived.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I mean, it was really really all out.
- 1:09Speaker 1: And so what the President does, and by the way,
- 1:12Speaker 1: I think it's to his credit, is he is the
- 1:15Speaker 1: most successible president to the press that's ever been. I mean,
- 1:20Speaker 1: every time he flies on air, force one. He is
- 1:24Speaker 1: doing his press conferences in the press section, and inevitably
- 1:28Speaker 1: whenever anybody head of state comes to the White House,
- 1:32Speaker 1: but this every president does. They sit in those two
- 1:34Speaker 1: chairs in front of the fireplace and the press is
- 1:37Speaker 1: invited in for a few minutes. And this had to
- 1:40Speaker 1: do of course with the Crown Prince. Now, it was
- 1:45Speaker 1: a question about the murder of Jamal Kashogi, who was
- 1:50Speaker 1: a New York Post reporter Saudi who was lured into
- 1:56Speaker 1: the Saudi consulate in Turkey and killed and dismembered, and
- 2:04Speaker 1: pieces of Koshogi were, you know, taking out the back
- 2:08Speaker 1: of the consulate, which, let me tell you it's where
- 2:14Speaker 1: it was, the embassy. It was. It was pretty unforgivable,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and Saudi Arabia got nailed because the CIA said that
- 2:21Speaker 1: the royal family read Ben Salmon, was involved, that he
- 2:30Speaker 1: was there, either ordered it or certainly knew about it.
- 2:35Speaker 2: And so he was asked.
- 2:37Speaker 1: The President was asked about that by an ABC News
- 2:40Speaker 1: correspondent and Trump responded, about Koshogi, you're mentioning somebody that
- 2:47Speaker 1: was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that,
- 2:51Speaker 1: gentleman that you're talking about. And whether you liked him
- 2:55Speaker 1: or you didn't like him. Things happen. I'm surprised he
- 3:00Speaker 1: only used the word things things happen. Well, I mean,
- 3:07Speaker 1: you know, dimemberment, being murdered, pieces taken out of a
- 3:10Speaker 1: consulate upon the order of a head of state.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Okay, things happen.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Now, what Trump could have done is glossed it over
- 3:21Speaker 1: because it is embarrassing. I mean, there's no question about it.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And he had to have known that the question was
- 3:28Speaker 1: going to be thrown at him. There's no question that
- 3:31Speaker 1: he had to know the question was going to be
- 3:33Speaker 1: thrown at him. I can't imagine his advisors did not
- 3:35Speaker 1: tell him you're going to be asked about this, and
- 3:39Speaker 1: instead of following what the advisors, no doubt said, what
- 3:46Speaker 1: Trump said about Ben Solomon he knew nothing about it.
- 3:49Speaker 2: By the way, that was before Ben.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Solomon was about to answer, and Trump interrupts and says,
- 3:55Speaker 1: he knew nothing about it, and we can leave it
- 3:58Speaker 1: at that.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Well, yes, no, because it's not going to be left
- 4:05Speaker 2: at that.
- 4:06Speaker 1: And the reporter ABC White House correspondent Mary Bruce, who
- 4:13Speaker 1: had asked that question about him, the Trump said, you
- 4:17Speaker 1: don't have to embarrass our guests by asking a question
- 4:19Speaker 1: like that and just laid into her. And sitting in
- 4:25Speaker 1: the Oval office, Trump heaped absolute praise on the Crown
- 4:29Speaker 1: Prince and Saudi Arabia, calling on his incredible record on
- 4:34Speaker 1: human rights. Now that one gets kind of interesting. I mean,
- 4:37Speaker 1: you can ignore the human rights issue in Saudi Arabia,
- 4:41Speaker 1: which I would do if I were the president. I
- 4:45Speaker 1: would gloss over it or think of something else to
- 4:47Speaker 1: say or divert. But his incredible record on human rights, Okay,
- 4:56Speaker 1: why not? And the Prince did come in and talked
- 4:59Speaker 1: about the murder of Kashogi. He didn't do it, Saudi
- 5:03Speaker 1: Arabia didn't do it, but he did say it's a
- 5:05Speaker 1: painful and a huge mistake. And then he went about
- 5:09Speaker 1: that journalist. It's really painful to hear anyone that has
- 5:12Speaker 1: been losing his life for no real purpose or not
- 5:15Speaker 1: in a legal way, and it's been painful for us
- 5:18Speaker 1: in Saudi Arabia, and Saudi Arabia did all the right
- 5:23Speaker 1: steps of investigation wanting to make sure this doesn't happen again.
- 5:30Speaker 2: This has been going on a long time.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Saudi Arabia is really important to the United States financially
- 5:39Speaker 1: as well as GEO politically, I would argue that Israel,
- 5:43Speaker 1: of course, being the most important alley we have, Saudi
- 5:45Speaker 1: Arabia is right up there in terms of where it sits.
- 5:51Speaker 2: It gives a lot of lip.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Service to the Palestinians and a Palestinian state, but in
- 5:57Speaker 1: reality it's lip service. The United States and Saudi Arabia
- 6:02Speaker 1: are in fact allies, and they're allied against Iran, and
- 6:07Speaker 1: they want stability. Both countries want stability in the mid East.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Trump is also selling F thirty fives to Saudi Arabia, which,
- 6:16Speaker 1: of course Israel is jumping up and down and thrilled
- 6:18Speaker 1: with that because Israel has the F thirty fives and
- 6:21Speaker 1: these are the most advanced fighter planes on the planet.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Don't you think that we're in such a weird state
- 6:27Speaker 3: of affairs here in the States that you have Kashogi,
- 6:32Speaker 3: which was horrific, and people being judgmental about that. Yet
- 6:36Speaker 3: there was people celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk, and
- 6:41Speaker 3: there are protesters that are coming out and saying that
- 6:46Speaker 3: they are for Hamas, not just Palestinians or Gauzians, Gauzanians.
- 6:53Speaker 2: What a weird state of affairs? How you it is?
- 6:55Speaker 1: Well?
- 6:56Speaker 2: I can see the others.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I can see the far left celebrating Charlie Kirk's death.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I can see those people, uh celebrating that.
- 7:07Speaker 1: That's uh and and that is not where we want
- 7:10Speaker 1: to go because celebrating the death of someone. Come on, guys,
- 7:13Speaker 1: you can argue politically, but please And then you have
- 7:17Speaker 1: the the part with the koshogi. Though there really wasn't
- 7:20Speaker 1: two sides of that coin. It was an American reporter,
- 7:26Speaker 1: or it was a stringer who was murdered by a
- 7:30Speaker 1: foreign government, and it was glossed over.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Now it wasn't different. I'm talking from just the pure
- 7:37Speaker 2: point just in general.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Yeah, we're crazy as long as it's someone we dis.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Yeah, we're we're in crazy times.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Trump backed up Saudi Arabia and Ben Salmon during his
- 7:49Speaker 1: first term. Biden went the other way. Trump comes back
- 7:53Speaker 1: and goes back to where he was. I mean, Trump
- 7:55Speaker 1: has been consistent, uh in his admiration. Oh. Also, Trump
- 8:00Speaker 1: was asked about all the financial interests, the number of
- 8:05Speaker 1: buildings that are being built in Saudi Arabia by the
- 8:09Speaker 1: Trump organization, by his son in law and his son,
- 8:14Speaker 1: I mean to the tune of billions and billions of dollars,
- 8:16Speaker 1: and when he was asked about that, he said, I
- 8:18Speaker 1: have nothing to do with the Trump organization. That is
- 8:22Speaker 1: that is owned by my kids. So it's well, I'm
- 8:26Speaker 1: president and I have nothing to do with it. Keep
- 8:28Speaker 1: in mind that he never put his assets into a
- 8:31Speaker 1: blind trust like every other president has done. Every other
- 8:36Speaker 1: president puts it into a blind trust and doesn't even
- 8:39Speaker 1: know where the money is going or where it's being invested.
- 8:43Speaker 1: All right, we're done with that, Okay, I want to
- 8:49Speaker 1: talk about business. Why because well, I've been a business
- 8:52Speaker 1: person virtually my entire adult life. I have been involved
- 8:56Speaker 1: in several businesses, most of which have been spectacular fail
- 9:00Speaker 1: I'm very proud to say. And in my life it's
- 9:04Speaker 1: a small business. And when we talk about the success
- 9:07Speaker 1: of business in this country, and business is insanely successful,
- 9:11Speaker 1: we normally talk about major corporations that are making tons
- 9:14Speaker 1: of money, and the stock market is making tons of money,
- 9:17Speaker 1: and investments are making tons of money. How about the
- 9:21Speaker 1: small business person? How about the small businesses here in
- 9:25Speaker 1: the United States getting nailed? Not only do they get
- 9:29Speaker 1: nailed because they compete against the big boys. Read any
- 9:34Speaker 1: for example, a locally owned hardware store when Walmart comes in,
- 9:40Speaker 1: it's over and so what's the same thing happens with
- 9:43Speaker 1: small businesses that compete with any major business. So what
- 9:46Speaker 1: is going on with small business? They're in so much trouble.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Import costs through the roof mounting payroll, healthcare expenses.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Through the roof affordable loans.
- 10:01Speaker 1: You can't use the word affordable and use loans in
- 10:05Speaker 1: the same sentence.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Stressed out workforce. Well, the word affordability is a real issue. Now.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Small businesses are really the backbone of the US economy.
- 10:18Speaker 1: The vast majority of the total businesses in this country
- 10:22Speaker 1: and nearly half of all employees and the bulk of
- 10:25Speaker 1: job growth.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Is small business.
- 10:28Speaker 1: But the way the economy is going, it is almost impossible.
- 10:34Speaker 1: So for example, the tariffs come in, Well, the big
- 10:37Speaker 1: boys do have the ability to hunker down. They have assets,
- 10:43Speaker 1: they have the ability to stretch out inventory.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Small businesses don't do that. Small businesses can't.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Now I'm involved in my small business with Lake Industry
- 10:55Speaker 1: that we import cookwar.
- 10:58Speaker 2: We just got hit and for cookware.
- 11:00Speaker 1: That's made out of stainless deal from China, and we
- 11:05Speaker 1: were hit a few weeks ago with one hundred and
- 11:07Speaker 1: eighty seven percent terraffs unsustainable. If that ain't kept on going,
- 11:11Speaker 1: we might we just wrap it up. We're done, might
- 11:13Speaker 1: as well just file for bankruptcy. And this is a
- 11:16Speaker 1: business that has been around for thirty five years. Now
- 11:21Speaker 1: it's now just hideously expensive. It's no longer prohibitive bankrupt
- 11:26Speaker 1: causing it is now just prohibitively expensive.
- 11:32Speaker 2: And so it is small businesses that are going over
- 11:36Speaker 2: and over and over out of business.
- 11:39Speaker 1: And I just did a story yesterday about one in
- 11:41Speaker 1: four US households are living paycheck to paycheck, meaning that
- 11:46Speaker 1: over ninety five percent of their income are spent in
- 11:51Speaker 1: housing and groceries. Excuse me, that's from Bank of America.
- 11:56Speaker 1: And so what's going on with the mood among mom
- 11:59Speaker 1: and popshit on main street? It is really, really in trouble.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I mean it used to be well when I had
- 12:09Speaker 1: my surrogacy center. When I first started, it was insurance
- 12:13Speaker 1: for every employee and insurance for their families and dental insurance.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And that literally winnowed down to we gave insurance to
- 12:29Speaker 1: just the employee. And it was horrible insurance, and you
- 12:35Speaker 1: couldn't go to a real doctor. You had to go
- 12:38Speaker 1: to a shaman.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Or a witch doctor. I mean, it got pretty sketchy.
- 12:44Speaker 1: So I just wanted to throw that at you that
- 12:47Speaker 1: while we're looking at the economy among the big corporation
- 12:51Speaker 1: is doing very well, and look at the number of
- 12:54Speaker 1: layoffs that are happening, and the number of layoffs that
- 12:58Speaker 1: are happening is not that money isn't coming in and
- 13:01Speaker 1: they're shrinking the corporations.
- 13:03Speaker 2: They are doing great.
- 13:03Speaker 1: It's just they're doing much better with a lot with
- 13:07Speaker 1: fewer people. Because you have technology comes in. It's really tough.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So I wanted to share with you. I just make
- 13:15Speaker 1: your day today. Now let's get local for a moment.
- 13:21Speaker 1: HEIMI Moore is our new fire chief in the city
- 13:26Speaker 1: of Los Angeles, and there's a lot of controversy going
- 13:30Speaker 1: on because two days before he was sworn in, he
- 13:36Speaker 1: was talking about all of the problems that happened before
- 13:41Speaker 1: and during in the aftermath of the Palace Ades fire,
- 13:44Speaker 1: which made international news.
- 13:48Speaker 2: It was one of the worst.
- 13:49Speaker 1: It may have been the worst fire in the Southland,
- 13:52Speaker 1: certainly in terms of damage to property.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I mean billions of dollars.
- 13:56Speaker 1: And there are people here that work in the building
- 14:01Speaker 1: that I know, three or four people that have lost
- 14:03Speaker 1: their homes and are now rebuilding. So on a second
- 14:07Speaker 1: day as chief, he then criticizes the media efforts to
- 14:12Speaker 1: smear firefighters who responded. Now, the Palisades Fire wasn't just
- 14:19Speaker 1: the Palisades fire. There was a smaller fire called the
- 14:24Speaker 1: Lachman fire, and it was put out by firefighters. And
- 14:30Speaker 1: the controversy is that it was still there was still
- 14:34Speaker 1: stumps that were smoldering, there were still smoke that was
- 14:38Speaker 1: coming out from under rocks, and according to the La Times,
- 14:42Speaker 1: now now they have said they've seen texts.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Those texts have.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Not become public, but they have reported that there are
- 14:48Speaker 1: texts where firefighters texted battalion chiefs texted each other, texted
- 14:55Speaker 1: each other and said, this is what we told are
- 14:58Speaker 1: battalion chiefs, we should put out these fires. They're still smoldering,
- 15:03Speaker 1: and we should not get the hell out of here
- 15:05Speaker 1: until they're all put out. Well, they weren't all put out,
- 15:10Speaker 1: and about a week later the fire was reignited, and
- 15:14Speaker 1: from that fire, the Palace Ades fire was ignited.
- 15:19Speaker 2: And therein is the controversy and.
- 15:23Speaker 1: The chief, the now chief said, oh yeah, we've got
- 15:25Speaker 1: to look at this. We've got some real problems. The
- 15:29Speaker 1: morale of the fire department is really being questioned. I
- 15:32Speaker 1: have to look at these allegations and we have to
- 15:37Speaker 1: be careful about this. That's all changed now. It's a
- 15:42Speaker 1: smear campaign. Now the firefighters are being smeared and are
- 15:47Speaker 1: being attacked for no reason whatsoever. He's a thirty year
- 15:51Speaker 1: veteran of the LA Fire Department, and the department has come
- 15:56Speaker 1: under very heavy criticism, and all of a sudden he's
- 15:59Speaker 1: on the side of the fire department and not taking
- 16:03Speaker 1: much criticism anymore.
- 16:05Speaker 2: And he did. There is an.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Independent commission that is going to be investigating this, and
- 16:12Speaker 1: if the La Times is right and this actually happens,
- 16:17Speaker 1: I'm thinking, obviously, I'm not a firefighter, clearly, although I've
- 16:22Speaker 1: been telling although I do play one on radio, you know,
- 16:25Speaker 1: and I'm often confused as being a firefighter, you.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Know, even those of us who are not in the business.
- 16:33Speaker 1: When one of the firefighters says, hey, it's still smoldering
- 16:37Speaker 1: over there, wouldn't you go out of your way to
- 16:39Speaker 1: put that out before bailing? And one of the battalion
- 16:43Speaker 1: chiefs is being accused and this is per a text message. Again,
- 16:46Speaker 1: we haven't seen it. This is an accusation by the
- 16:49Speaker 1: La Times. One of the battalion chiefs was after told
- 16:53Speaker 1: that being told that specifically said wrap it up, don't
- 16:59Speaker 1: want you to stay there. Okay, all right, an interesting
- 17:05Speaker 1: case that we've been talking about. This case has taken
- 17:08Speaker 1: a big turn.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Now.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Texas, based on what President asked to do, redistricted redistricting
- 17:17Speaker 1: has done every ten years after the census and the
- 17:20Speaker 1: legislators draw new districts congressional districts, and since populations go
- 17:27Speaker 1: up and down and they move, the districts change.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Well, what Texas did is midterm change.
- 17:34Speaker 1: The district so more Republican seats would be created and
- 17:41Speaker 1: fewer Democratic seats. And of course lawsuits were filed on
- 17:45Speaker 1: top of that. California passes Prop fifty saying.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Okay, you're doing it, we're doing it too.
- 17:53Speaker 1: The problem is we had to pass Prop fifty because
- 17:55Speaker 1: instead of the legislature doing it, we had an independent
- 17:59Speaker 1: commission do it because there were so much politics involved.
- 18:03Speaker 1: And of course as soon as Prop fifty passed, the
- 18:05Speaker 1: lawsuits hit there too. Pambondi for example, filing the lawsuit
- 18:10Speaker 1: argue that the California redistricting is a just a mad
- 18:14Speaker 1: grab for power. Well how about Texas. Well, that's not
- 18:17Speaker 1: a mad grab for power. That's okay, I mean, it's
- 18:19Speaker 1: just it's insane. So here's what's happening. Legally, a court
- 18:24Speaker 1: of appeals, Federal Court of Appeals blocked Texas from instituting
- 18:31Speaker 1: those changes. In other words, there is no redistricting. They're
- 18:35Speaker 1: not getting five more seats. That's the Court of Appeals.
- 18:38Speaker 1: And by the way, the judge who wrote that is
- 18:41Speaker 1: the Trump appointee. And now it's going straight to the
- 18:44Speaker 1: Supreme Court. And the same thing's going to happen in
- 18:47Speaker 1: California And is a Prop fifty And are redistricting going
- 18:52Speaker 1: to pass? We don't know, because it's going to be
- 18:55Speaker 1: the Supreme Court that's going to make all the decisions.
- 18:58Speaker 1: And here is what the issue is. Is redistricting for
- 19:03Speaker 1: political reasons is allowed? Supreme Court rule that that it's.
- 19:08Speaker 2: A political decision. You know, we can't get involved.
- 19:11Speaker 1: However, if redistricting is comprised of racial aspects, if it's
- 19:18Speaker 1: a question of Hispanics and blacks being put into one
- 19:23Speaker 1: district moved out of another district, and that is even
- 19:27Speaker 1: a reason, then that redistricting is illegal. And that's exactly
- 19:32Speaker 1: what happened in Texas, and the Appellate Court said, we
- 19:37Speaker 1: think and the reason the Appellate Court stopped it. By
- 19:39Speaker 1: the way, now at this point, the redistricting has stopped.
- 19:43Speaker 1: And this is all of course an anticipation in the midterms,
- 19:46Speaker 1: because the Appellate Court said to Texas, you're probably gonna lose.
- 19:51Speaker 1: And that's why I'm not letting the redistricting happen right now.
- 19:54Speaker 1: We'll see what the Supreme Court says. What's going to
- 19:57Speaker 1: happen in California. Don't know yet because we just passed
- 20:01Speaker 1: Prop fifty. Same lawsuits are going to hit from the
- 20:03Speaker 1: Republican side, same arguments are going to be made. And
- 20:06Speaker 1: who's going to make that final decision the court, Supreme Court,
- 20:11Speaker 1: and which way do I think the court the Supreme
- 20:13Speaker 1: Court is going to go.
- 20:15Speaker 2: I think they're going to give it to Texas.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I think the argument is going to be that this
- 20:20Speaker 1: is a political decision, and this Supreme Court is so
- 20:24Speaker 1: conservative that it's probably not going to hear, listen to,
- 20:29Speaker 1: or be influenced by the argument that this has racial
- 20:32Speaker 1: overtones to it, which is by the way, illegal if
- 20:36Speaker 1: it does. But I think the Court's going to say
- 20:38Speaker 1: this is not racial, this is political. That's certainly what
- 20:41Speaker 1: Texas said. We'll see, We'll see what happens. This is
- 20:46Speaker 1: KFI AM six point forty.
- 20:49Speaker 2: You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show.
