- 0:12[SPEAKER_03]: So, welcome on in, it's that time of the week, my friends.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_03]: It is the sooner it's on us.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_03]: I've had cast here on this lovely Wednesday, November 19th.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_03]: We're about to get dumped on over the next couple of days.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_03]: In the opportunity of my show area, but thankfully, fingers crossed, we should be dry on Saturday or a big one.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_03]: Number eight, Oklahoma, my number 22 Missouri.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_03]: We'll break it all down here for usual.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: We have the usual squad, John Hoover.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_03]: John, have you recouped from the Weekend Travel?
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: It was a good trip long trip, Alabama loved it and really enjoyed going down there with everybody, but you know what?
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's military appreciation week and I'm wearing the anthracites.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: So let's go on this podcast.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_03]: Very nice.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_03]: Cars and I had about 90 minutes more than who've did, excuse me, as we made it through.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_03]: Did that extra 90 minutes break you, Cars?
- 1:03[SPEAKER_03]: Because I think yesterday it might have broken me.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: No, I've been fine, got in some convenient naps in here and there, so I'm feeling pretty energized, ready for this final stretch.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_03]: Well, the good news is we've always got another arm in the pin, Ryan, Abraham, Abraham, I know you weren't there with us.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_03]: It was a bummer not to have you with us, but there only needed me one Ryan that was ready to dictate someone in post game.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_03]: It was a good thing that you weren't there to be Ryan number two.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_03]: I never do anything like that.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_03]: We you would have handled it the perfect it you can't record what do you mean I can't record here it's 10 minutes after the game you if you record there No, okay, shout out to our friends in Tuscaloosa.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_03]: I Hope they got it wasn't there.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, glad you weren't there for the post gate.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_03]: It was a really yeah, I'm gay
- 1:52[SPEAKER_03]: for that part, let me make sure I'm clear.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, and because of that, no massive real shock, but guess what folks, everything that everyone out there had said about Oklahoma Beating Alabama, what would that do has come to fruition?
- 2:08[SPEAKER_03]: We got a new batch of Coach Bob Playoff rankings on Tuesday night.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, by the way, to everyone happening in the college basketball world for truncating that bad boy, just making them read us the rankings as it should be.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: But the sooner it's popped up at number eight, if the season ended today, boy, as we brought Miami up as the highest ranked KCC team.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_03]: So I'd like to thank the probably I can make the KCC shape shape game.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_03]: And we brought two lame into the field.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_03]: You would get Notre Dame in Norman,
- 2:39[SPEAKER_03]: for a first round college football playoff game pretty sexy uh we'll start here a where you weren't there but when you look at this road ahead it's pretty simple everything we're going to talk about in the ranking discussion is just assuming everyone knows Oklahoma they have to win two games it's not going to be easy win two games they just take care of us but if they do that I think there might be one
- 3:03[SPEAKER_03]: scenario out there in which the suitors make the CFP as a tend to team but don't host we get to that here in a second but it's a pretty clear path you win two games you're back in for the first time 2019.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah there's there's no doubt about it I mean you know that that went over Alabama we knew we we talked about the odds the rankings are the percentage chances last week and you know just a massive leap
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: with winning that game.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: If they're able to win these two, they will be in the playoff period, point blank into discussion.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: Now, like you said, there is a scenario where they don't host a playoff game, but still in a pretty good position for that.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: And it would take some a couple of pieces
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: fall in into place for that to happen, but going to be fascinating to see, obviously what happens in the SEC, the way that this last couple weeks plays out, but also, like you mentioned, the ACC, what happens there?
- 4:03[SPEAKER_02]: Does anybody want the group of five spot?
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: It sometimes doesn't feel like it.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: So just as, you know, we're only in the second year of this,
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: 12 team playoffing, but just incredibly intriguing on a lot of levels, even if there's not a team that, you know, you just say, this is the favorite, this is the team that's going to run away with it this year.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think it's really important to that Missouri did pop up at number 22.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_03]: I can't remember if this happened on the show or in the teleconference afterward, it all kind of runs together.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_03]: But one of the justifications the committee did use for the Notre Dame Miami discussion was I guess like the discussion to draw for this whole thing.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_03]: But one of the things the committee did talk about was, at least, how do you check the Arkansas AD who's now the interim, but permanent for the rest of this year to be
- 4:56[SPEAKER_03]: was that, not only does Notre Dame have rolling through and stuff like that, they also beat a pit team that very, very recently was ranked in the top 25.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_03]: So I have a Missouri, I think it 22, is really, really important.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_03]: But you look at it, Carson.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of everything that we had projected expected.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_03]: Your loss is being a six-bank Ole Miss, Texas.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_03]: If they just lose to A&M, I don't see them dropping, like Texas all the way out of the rankings.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_03]: But then you've got Missouri at 22, that's a big opportunity.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_03]: Tennessee hanging on at 20, Michigan at 18.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_03]: That the schedule did everything it needed to do to bolster a playoff chance that way if you're at 10 and 2 you're pretty comfortable you're not having to worry about the committee politics.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, aside from Auburn, yeah, all of them have aged better than maybe, maybe even two weeks ago, we might have thought just seeing Michigan, even though I'm still not sold on that Michigan team, but the records good, the ranks fairly high at this point, they're still in the mix.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: That goes a long way, Tennessee.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: That win goes a long way and not just beating Tennessee, but beating them in Knoxville, huge, obviously in Texas, who knows they could
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: to have this awesome season loose to Texas, so that wouldn't surprise anyone.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: But even if they lose that game and they're toward the 20s of the rankings, I mean, I don't think anyone's going to sit here and deny the talent that that Texas team has.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, that was...
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: It was not a great one.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: It was a very bad performance by OU, but it doesn't just age horribly.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's a rivalry game.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: Those things happen.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously beating a team like Alabama.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that is the landmark win of the season of Brent Venables 10-year.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: for OU football since the COVID-19 pandemic.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: It was massive and like Abraham touched on, they are in if they do their business.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: Who knows if they host, obviously if Bama wins the SEC, that would probably put OU back into the nine, the nine slot probably, but that assumes that every team in front of them wins out too, which who knows about happens, Oregon still as USC.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: There are a lot of things that can happen.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's a thing.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that gets on this.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be an interesting last couple of weeks.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Abraham with that.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_03]: Notre Dame having Syracuse and Stanford be closed.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_03]: And we'll go having a
- 7:15[SPEAKER_03]: Missouri, you know, it doesn't seem like the jump potentials going to come from the Irish.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_03]: So then it just becomes a, the Albin wins out parsing.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_03]: What does it look like?
- 7:27[SPEAKER_03]: Is it pertains to does an SEC champ Albin?
- 7:30[SPEAKER_03]: I get the nod as like an eight instead of a nine that grows head stuff like that.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_03]: The cleanest path forward something that I think we all enjoy.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_03]: Everyone gets to root for their favorite coach in the world this week, right?
- 7:44[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you're telling me not only could Lincoln Riley's Trojans walk into Otson when and all bit guarantee Oklahoma hosting a home playoff game if they take care of his business.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_03]: It would also put us in discussions for your telling me there's not going to be an ESP and executive that doesn't pick up the phone and say, hey, do you see how we got 10 million viewers for Oklahoma and Alabama and it peaked at 14 mill?
- 8:08[SPEAKER_03]: Could we send Lincoln Riley to the visitor's sideline in Norman America?
- 8:12[SPEAKER_03]: Click, I think that would be a pretty solid thing to do.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I was on the field a few years ago at the Texas Tech.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: when Baker may field made his return there and I remember the vitriol the some of the language they got thrown around the the security that had to you know escort Baker out of the stadium and things like that can you imagine what it would be like for Lincoln Riley to come back to OU
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: uh... it it would be just unbelievable uh... you know we'll see if it happens but yeah if if it's close to happening you've got to think that there's gonna be some leaning to be like hey let's uh... let's make this work uh... but it's really going to be interesting yeah i i'm with y'all i think the path for all you not hosting would be alabama uh... winning the the SEC especially if they were able to win it in uh... fairly
- 9:15[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's interesting, you sort of referenced it a little bit ago, Ryan, but the discussion with Yura Check, and that Notre Dame wasn't in the same sort of pod with Miami, and that kept that game from even being talked about where they focused on the Oregon Oklahoma Notre Dame Alabama order, and I think for now it shakes out, you know, really well in Oklahoma's favorite.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_02]: If Oregon were to lose, I think that does pretty much lock up a hosting site.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_02]: If OU is to win these last two, but you know, going to be a fun couple weeks here.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you guys, we need us to win, we need Oklahoma to win out so we can get that atmosphere.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: I keep thinking of some of the best atmospheres I've been in.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you one, met this past week, Danny Boyle Connor.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you guys know him, he's the Irish rapper, right?
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: How's the outsider house?
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: The outsider house, exactly.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's taken over as the executive director of the outsider house here in Tulsa.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: I met him at a book signing last week.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I just happened to throw out their head.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you've heard this story.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: He lives in Oklahoma now, so of course he's heard the story about Oklahoma's jump around game.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: When they started playing his song, one of his songs, and everybody's jumping around.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: I just said, you know, we're 15 years down the road and people 17 years down the road, and people still compare everything, noise-wise, atmosphere, everything to that one game.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: And if,
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: Lincoln around the comes back to Norman it's gonna blow that thing away It's gonna blow that game out of everybody's memory.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean seriously, that will be you're gonna need extra security You're gonna need people on the sideline Watching the state because people do not like that man around here
- 11:09[SPEAKER_03]: No, and it would be pretty fantastic as well, just the storyline, everything there.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_03]: So a lot to get through, but that is certainly what I would be rooting for as just day.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's an interesting, like,
- 11:28[SPEAKER_03]: If we get to a scenario where, let's just say, I don't really care what order it doesn't matter what order, but some version of Ohio State, Indiana, A&M, and Georgia.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_03]: Let's just say those teams are hosting.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_03]: Then you've got, all right, Texas Tech, all right, those teams are the buys.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_03]: Texas Tech, you're the five seed congrats you get right now to lane.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_03]: Ole Miss, you're the six seed congrats you get as of right now.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_03]: Miami, you're one of the ACC champions, whatever.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_03]: If the 789 10 is really some version of picking between a USC Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma, I know that they're just supposed to rank it and go, and they tell us that none of this stuff matters.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_03]: But you're telling me that they don't get into the committee room and go, okay, we've literally watched USU Notre Dame play this year.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_03]: We have literally watched Oakland Alabama play this year.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_03]: Is there any way that we can just move the rankings around so that we get a 7-10-89 matchup, which would result in figuring out if Notre Dame or Alabama's going to host that game and then just sending USU to Dortmund?
- 12:36[SPEAKER_03]: I think that that may end up being there out to saying, if this were to happen,
- 12:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Albert won the SEC, but Oklahoma won the head to heads.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_03]: We're really bow you at the seven just so everything works out for that and and we'll see it'll be really really interesting over the last two weeks.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: Ryan, I'll just tell you this.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: Every
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: Um, final ranking that we've gotten in the playoff era has come with some level of explanation, right?
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we looked at those teams very closely in one past the eye test.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's talk about the eye test over here.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we looked at those teams very closely and that was clearly head to head.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, this one's got more losses.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we looked at those teams very closely and this one had more losses or more data points.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's like they do, they manufacture and maneuver the narrative to go wherever they want it to go.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we know that and I think it is kind of important when you talk about the realm of just purely hosting not CFP to get to the CFP or you can win two ugly discussing football games doesn't matter they went to their end I do think the offense taking a step forward is going to matter a bit Jordan Stoya was able to ask your check about Oklahoma and Oregon last night in the teleconference portion.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_03]: And basically, the question was, did the committee view Oregon as like, significantly better than Oklahoma resume wise or wasn't just as simple as Oregon has won loss of their seven, Oklahoma has two losses.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_03]: So they're eight, you're check like talking circles, talking circles, talking circles, but the just of it was watching Oregon, we believe that they're good on offense and defense, then he, you know, regurgitated some metric BS stuff.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think that Oklahoma's offense needs to take a couple steps forward, just if nothing else visually, they can pass the quote unquote eye test stuff if it gets into a splitting hairs between who's hosting or not, again, doesn't matter for getting into the platform.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_03]: Who's hosting or not, if Oregon wins out, Alabama wins out all this stuff.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_03]: But I think that's also just really important for
- 14:32[SPEAKER_03]: Missouri is a really good football team whether they've got both people or not.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_03]: They're really good defense and I think that Oklahoma's offense needs to take that step forward anyway.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_03]: So all the stuff that Oklahoma needs just a host.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_03]: I think all goes to hand in hand with the sooner's being and put in themselves in the best position to win as many games possible.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_03]: the rest of the year.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_03]: And that's kind of something that was asked about a ton, been our buckle, brought Venables yesterday at their press conferences.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_03]: Let's start with the Brett Venables side of it, and the running game.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_03]: Brett Venables was asked as well as our buckle about the running game.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_03]: A breath that those interesting thing is Brett Venables did say was Xavier Robinson who took that helmet to the knee against Alabama.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_03]: Came back in the game, but clearly looked a little bit hobbled.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_03]: I don't believe there's anything structural, but that also might not just be feelin' perfect seven days later by this Saturday.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_03]: Brip animals did say we're gonna have to spread this thing around a little bit more when it comes to the running back room.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_03]: Here's the problem!
- 15:33[SPEAKER_03]: Outside of Xavier Robinson, and Tory playlock, no other running backs have existed at Oklahoma for a couple of weeks.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_03]: Now, that's been the correct decision.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_03]: We've all asked for them to pair down that running back rotation, but when you hear Brett Vennable say, spread around a little bit more.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_03]: Does that mean giving 10 carries away like 10 carries Xavier Robinson?
- 15:50[SPEAKER_03]: Does that mean,
- 15:52[SPEAKER_03]: going to the passing game of the short-passing game, touch passes, reverses speed sweeps for, as Aacitator Dianne Berkshire does that mean, a new character re-entering the fold, whether that be Shvante Barnes or Jade Not, or there's been a lot of marketing for Jaren Kannick at running back or Gabe Saatcha.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_03]: What does that mean, Abraham?
- 16:10[SPEAKER_03]: What is spreadin' around?
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the answer that I think makes the most sense is what you said about the short passing game and finding ways to sort of make that an extension of the running game.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: But hey, we can talk about Jake not existing again, and that's what we've tried to do for a lot of this season.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: So why not bring it up now?
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: How crazy would that be if he was able to finally make some kind of an impact here at the end, not that I expect it?
- 16:41[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, your your options are limited, you know, it would sort of surprise me if Javante Barnes played at this point given that he's, you know, right there at four and, you know, with everything that's that's happened with him, you would think that that points in the direction of him not being a part of this program.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: moving forward, you know, Taylor Tatum.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: We've only seen him once.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: Could we see, you know, him there?
- 17:06[SPEAKER_02]: He was, had some, if he's healthy, he had some fairly effective moments last year, but the fumbling was an issue at times and wound up, you know, being supplanted there.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be really interesting to see what happens.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think either way, I think it's a good thing that John Meteer has gotten more involved in the quarterback run game again.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think that can change the dynamic of how teams defend.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_02]: And yes, you do have to find a way to at least have the threat of spreading the field with that passing game, even if they haven't done it much the last few weeks.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: Ryan, the fact that Ben Arbuckle answered this question yesterday, the way he did,
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: frankly shocked me.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you don't say something at a press conference, this just blatantly not true.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: And here's what he said.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: He said that room is full of a bunch of tough kids who just want to play football.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: They want to be out there for their team.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: Just want to play football.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: They want to devontate bars keep winding up on the injury list or the availability report on Fridays.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: that that goes against a hundred and eighty degrees against what we're seeing with our own eyes I don't know how tough they are uh we've seen them with the football in their hands that they run tough but your Robinson is fairly tough I would say so I don't know yeah but he said the room's full of them the room's not full of them there's two or three guys who want to play
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was that was disappointing.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: The other guys clearly either don't want to play or are injured But he did say they're going to lean on the medical staff to try to find these things out.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to see how they practice all week It's a rough part of the picture for Oklahoma if they cannot run the football because Missouri's defenses for real
- 18:50[SPEAKER_03]: It's Carson, I don't know if this is crazy or just a big indictment on how big of a whiff that the Jaden Art situation has been that based off of everything we've seen from him and it was some all-time bad body language from Jaden Art on the field after a victory at Alabama.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, it, it sounds crazy, but I also think it's more likely they talk Javante Barnes out of Red Shirting than Jade Not becomes, uh, like a mega super late season, because like Kenny Brooks came on, like the Texas game, so that's midway through the season for Jade Not to suddenly come on for the last two games would be, uh, my jaw would be through the floor of the press box at, uh, Memorial Stadium.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it would, it would shock me, um, I know we had that, that may be brief moment.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: It can't stay it that he looked at least decent, uh, was somewhat productive in that game, and then Texas kind of squashed everybody's doubt.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody is doubts, um, just like, yeah, this guy's not going to be a big part, um, so I would be very surprised that even with them having to lean on their depth, if art suddenly becomes this playmaker, I think it is slightly more likely that,
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: someone like a Javante Barnes comes up maybe tailorate him with healthy but it is.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe a slight silver lining that materials looked better on the ground in the last two games.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: He was great against Tennessee.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: Bama, he was off and on, but looked really good, obviously on that 20 yard touchdown run.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: Good that he's getting his legs under him, not perfect by any means throwing the ball or with his eyes, but definitely improving looks like they're going to be able to move the ball a little bit better through the air, but I'm with what who've said about.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_03]: And it is a good Missouri defense that force and turnover from scoring off that was huge in them separating in specific states that they could just turn around and say, a lot of hardy take us as far as you would like to go, which he certainly did.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_03]: I do think that when you talk about like spreading around, it's way more like that we see if Robinson's cleared, if Tory play like who he does, playing bank debt.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's way more like you just like 10 carries from a tier,
- 20:58[SPEAKER_03]: 10 carries for Blaylock, 10 carries for Robinson as opposed to like given Zebra, I was the ball 20 times, something like that.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_03]: If they're able to run that much, then that's kind of the path forward there.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_03]: The other piece of it that Benarbuck was asked about, was it three or four questions in a row?
- 21:12[SPEAKER_03]: We're basically it was like,
- 21:15[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to just continue to ask you, but our buckle, why are you not throwing down the field?
- 21:20[SPEAKER_03]: Is this a, your calling it, material is not throwing it?
- 21:23[SPEAKER_03]: Is this a, you're avoiding calling?
- 21:25[SPEAKER_03]: Because you're scared of it?
- 21:26[SPEAKER_03]: Is this a, you've been told to not throw anything that could even potentially risk to get intercept.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was interesting that our buckle did an admirable job as a coach just tipping around the fact that it's a little bit of everything.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_03]: You talked a lot about just
- 21:40[SPEAKER_03]: This is how some of the games have played out, but guys, it feels like I'm not saying they need to suddenly throw seven balls deep shot stuff like that.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_03]: At some point though, it feels like they do need to try to find a way.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_03]: And if it's just a technique, a titanium might be the only guy that can get down field in this receiver room.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_03]: find a way to try to get him the ball, go in and just see if you can loosen things up for this Missouri defense.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_03]: Because I think when you look at this game, both defenses are going to be more than happy to walk everyone as close to the line and screw, which is possible to be like, and tell someone proves that they can consistently win over the top, nobody gets any space and we load every box for both deep and safer.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that's just going to be, you know, the reality of things and they're going to have to
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: figure out a way to make some of those plays happen down field.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think Satania, like you said, is about the only one that's capable of doing it.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know, maybe you can find some opportunities for Deon Berks to be involved in that as well.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: But I think the biggest thing is just finding different ways.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't necessarily have to be, you know, 30 yards down field, things like that.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: Just finding ways of spreading out the defense overall
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: to open up some more things with whether the short passing game, the running game, things like that because if you're as limited as they've been, you have to be dang near perfect in every other facet.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: defensively special teams things like that luckily for Oklahoma they have been dang near perfect in those areas but it's hard to sustain that you know even you know though it feels like hey now it's Missouri and LSU you can catch your breath a little bit
- 23:26[SPEAKER_02]: These are still very capable football teams, and as we see in the SEC, we can weak out.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: Crazy things can happen.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: So you've got to stay on that sort of razor's edge of things and not, you know, not yet sucked over, you know, like they have a chance to do.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, Satanian is definitely the guy if they're gonna go down field.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like some of the intermediate stuff that I've seen from Dr. Michael Carter, I thought he looked really solid against Alabama.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of making up for what Giovanni Gibson hasn't been able to produce so far.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's been good, Berks.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: Burke still puzzles me a little bit.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: He has the speed that he should be a downfield kind of guy.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_00]: We haven't seen that since very early in the season.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_00]: Part of that is with the style of plays that they're calling offensively.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: But I think Mizzou's defense, especially their front sevens, good.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: Mizzai on young, I know obviously OU fans were remember him from last year, returning that fumble for the game, winning touchdown.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_00]: He's been fantastic, shot up NFL draft boards this year.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I was going to have to get a little creative, maybe use some of those bigger bodies, whether that's canic, Caden Helms, Ivan Carion, get some more guys in there, because if material still looks as inconsistent as he's been even if he's been better against Baman Tennessee, you're going to have to get a little bit creative against good defenses.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: This offense is far from perfect.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's been bad at times.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: So I think creativity is the key against
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is a really big opportunity against this defense for Ben Arbuckle to show they've shut the fanbase up every post, every reply, every response that you see whether it's on social media or whatever.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody's like this guy sucks as an offensive coordinator.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: Well, does he really though?
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is a good opportunity from to do that.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: Now, here's a deal.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: Oklahoma ranks 82nd in the country in yards per pass completion.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's not good, but guess what?
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: They're tied with Georgia.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm here by complaining about Georgia too much in their passing game.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: They're also in the 90s in total yards per play.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's a pretty good indicator that your offensive line has not been good.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: 10 games into the season now, Oklahoma's offensive line has not been good.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: We've been beaten that horse until it's long dead.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's a good time for our bulkholder come up with some...
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: usable, reliable plays, you know, things that you can go to, things that you can fall back on in any certain situation, but creativity and cleverness and surprise, don't have to pull out any crazy trick plays, just do something that you haven't done so far, right?
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: That you haven't done all season or variations on a theme of things that you've done all season, make it look a little different, come out of different packages, different personal packages and things like that.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he's tried that, maybe it hasn't worked, but I just think it's a good opportunity for him to say, and I know I'm the offensive coordinator you guys, I got this.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, I think he almost needs to do, sorry, Ryan, I think he almost needs to do what Brent Vinnables does with the defense and we see Brent Vinnables be creative and ways to bring pressure, things like that every week and it's a lot of what you're saying.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's not wholesale new things.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's just little tweaks to what you've already done that find ways to surprise teams and we've seen that I think, especially in these last two games,
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: figure out how to sort of capture that kind of energy.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like the little speed speed they had was titanium.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_03]: I thought was fantastic.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_03]: It was certainly really effective against Alabama It reminds me of early in the season.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_03]: They'd had a little touch passes that were just feasting feeding into Jomitiers early passing stats carving out for the rushing game remember that that conversation like Hey, there there are juice and high spins stuff.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_03]: We haven't seen those in a couple weeks because it feels like for me.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_03]: This is kind of the
- 27:28[SPEAKER_03]: needs to get better, okay?
- 27:30[SPEAKER_03]: How do you quantify that?
- 27:31[SPEAKER_03]: For me, I personally, one of two things, A, if you can get back to what you saw, it's Michigan where they had multiple 10 plus play drives, and it wasn't because they were just road great and anything like that.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's because they were able to throw together, hey, Cantezos was getting five yards on a third and four.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, you're able to get just enough and get things going or, or
- 27:52[SPEAKER_03]: these last two games.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_03]: If you could just have traded one field goal for a touchdown, then that is transformational for the last four minutes of the Tennessee game.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_03]: Certainly makes that last seven and a half minutes, a little less nerve-wracking in Salabana.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_03]: If off the Taylor-Wine, fumble, you're able to catch them for a touchdown instead of a field goal.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I'm looking at.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_03]: If you want to take that next step and go from
- 28:19[SPEAKER_03]: You beat Missouri BLC, you're in the CFP, and teams are like, okay, I don't want to play this defense to teams do not want to play Oklahoma because this might be the team that gets hot and come steaming in the CFP.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_03]: If the offense could just make that marginal improvement, a four point improvement, but I think that could be almost transformational for.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_03]: have a committee views on it if you're in a tiebreaker situation and also just the effectiveness on the field on Saturdays and things like that and the good news is too that your defense is still rocking and rolling and cars will be a very different challenge for that you defense this week you've had triad chamblas show you regular tie Simpson guys that you're preparing for here of these last couple of games now it's
- 28:58[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe Boe for Bula as Eli Drinkwood said, just check in with Pete Naco sir Matt and Zinnets.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure that they'll have that or just watch the Availability report, but uh, everyone knows they want to feed a lot already.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_03]: He's been really, really, really good this year.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_03]: But everybody will talk about his yards after contact yesterday.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_03]: That it feels like it's something that's pretty comfortable for Oklahoma though battling a really strong rushing attack.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, um, I do think you look at both Probula stats and it's not it's not I popping it's not sexy, but that offense does run a lot better when he's playing football You looked very comfortable in the games that he played obviously put together a good effort against Alabama Matt Zollars, I think he has a lot of potential but that's still a very young quarterback hasn't been playing for too long So I do think that changes things if Probula is able to go
- 29:49[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, this is a run first offense on Mount Hardy and think maybe Jeremiah love has a case, but pretty undisputably the number one or number two running back in the nation he's just fantastic yards after contact even against good defenses he does it.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's just been a star which I think does kind of lean into what oh you does so well It's hard to run on these guys just to say it's had a big day But you look at that that was because of 175 yard run, but he had a big day against this oh you defense
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: Time and time again, they've shown that they can stop some really good running backs.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_00]: Jeremiah Cobb had a couple of good runs besides that it was a whole lot of one yard, two yard runs, though, some in the backfield.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I do think, like I said, it just kind of leans into what this defense is good at.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_00]: They're physical up front and dinner bowls has done a really good job establishing the physicality with this defense.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I know Marvin Jones said,
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's the most similar thing between this defense and the defense that he played on in Georgia in 2022 when the Bulldogs won the National Championship.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, having that physicality, I mean, I think Hardy's still gonna get his, but I don't think he's gonna run for 300 yards like he did against Mississippi State.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_00]: If they could at least eliminate him, that's the best case scenario for this defense, keep it, keep it low scoring and owe you more than likely finds a way to win.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: like this matchup man it's gonna be fun to watch it's a line of skirmish type matchup where Oklahoma comes in fourth in the country and run defense and Missouri comes in sixth in the country and run offense.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: It movable object, irresistible force all that kind of stuff that's gonna be fun to watch because I think Missouri
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: You take out, uh, I think Utah is second in the country and rushing yards and then Jacksonville states up there, the other like top five teams, three or four top five teams are all service academies, right?
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: So Missouri's up there playing that kind of football.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be fun, man.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's also able or something that Brickville is connected those dots to that he talked about this rushing attack from Missouri almost in a way resembling an option attack the way that they've got multiple backs that they're comfortable to give the ball to as well as certainly when Probule was healthy him given it to go and we will see if Probule is there again to add a little extra pop to this rushing attack from Missouri.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and also see how even if he is able to go how that ankle holds up, because that's a tough injury to have dislocated ankle that he suffered, believe it was against Vanderbilt, but this rushing offense is no doubt the best that I use faced Michigan, the best that they faced to this point, but they faced
- 32:29[SPEAKER_02]: I want to say I think it's what three or four top 11 passing off fences so far this year.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_02]: This is the first top 11 rushing offense that they faced and that's you know a little bit squishy there because Michigan's right at number 12 I believe I'm trying to think who's at 11 in the passing offense but it's one of those teams that OU is faced.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_02]: So it's splitting hairs a little bit, but you know, this is it just a much different match up and I think a much different challenge for particularly of the front seven, but especially the defensive line to try to slow down a Missouri running attack that yeah.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_02]: does resemble in a lot of ways and option attack like Brent Venomal said they can pass it a little bit better than most option teams but you know it stresses defenses in a way that you know you don't see very often and there's a reason why you know some of those teams especially the academies are really successful at it when you have to just prepare for that in a completely different way than you're preparing for every other game.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's not quite that drastic but
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, but I'll see your front seven and raise you the back for because that's where it's to me really crucial.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're going to crowd the box.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're going to shut down the run at the at the line of scrimmage Missouri.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care if it's Matt's all.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: There's both Probula, whoever Missouri is going to try to exploit that.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to look at those numbers in the back.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to run deep shots play action.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: lot of play action, a lot of RPOs and they're going to try and veto you over the top.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: If those safety's and those corners can hold their ground and not get beat deep too many times, you expect it a couple of times, but not too many times.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think Oklahoma can win the football game fairly comfortably.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think the other thing with that is just sort of those two helping themselves and being able to bring the pressure to force quick decisions on the back end and not
- 34:26[SPEAKER_02]: Coral and Gillary and Eli Bowen and those guys, you know, have to cover for so long.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I agree that the back end is going to be tested in a different way as well.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_03]: After just getting an offensive that are very, very pass happy and Ole Miss Tennessee and Alabama, of course, I really feel like the monsters don't get bored is going to be huge for Coral and Gillary for Eli Bowen, for Oklahoma's safety is because
- 34:52[SPEAKER_03]: you have to imagine, especially on the script to drive, drink is going to have a big play action play dialed up, hoping to get Kevin Coleman, one on one maybe downfield of someone bites on something, but it's just going to be about, hey, you're not going to get as many chances to make a big play in this game probably, but you can't whiff on your chance by not being mentally sharp, not not being locked in and not being ready for when that ball does get pulled out of horizontal stomach and kind of put up through the air.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think tackling really is one of the biggest factors in this game.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_00]: I know that the Texas game, for example, we saw a lot of missed tackles, guys like Robert Spear's Jennings, not the single people out, but I know I had a lot of trouble with Wisoner in that game, some of the other receivers.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_00]: Hardies, hardies of beast, he's tough to take down.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen it against Bamba and M Vanderbilt, some really good defenses that just haven't been able to finish tackles and he's put up big numbers because of that.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_00]: And they've got to have learned from some of those games trying to tackle Weisner against Texas, Chamblas and the Ole Miss game.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_00]: They've been tested thankfully against guys that obviously have a lot of burst, a lot of twitchiness
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: all the physical tools you can want out of a running back and he's not going to be easy.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, even if this defense plays at its best, I still think that Hardy's going to break off at least a few really good runs.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_00]: But I think tackling just wrapping up finishing, not trying to get to cue obviously if you can strip the ball from him, that would be awesome, but making it make it an emphasis to get the guy on his back more than anything.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_03]: it'll be really interesting.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_03]: I'll be interested to see too tonight Wednesday.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_03]: We'll get our first look at the new availability report.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not expecting our Mason Thomas to be back into the fold this weekend.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_03]: The one that I actually though, and really much more interested in is can Jaden Jackson get a little bit closer.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_03]: He played what 12 snaps on Saturday.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_03]: I know I had noted this in our live file our updates that going through pregame, he just looked incredibly stiff and
- 37:00[SPEAKER_03]: commendations to him for giving it a go and being able to put 12 steps out there, but he was not the same guy.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_03]: If he's someone that could have made significant steps forward, you're telling me that you have Jay Jackson to throw into the mix with your David Selens your grace and all into a great job up front, obviously, then that comes even more toward Oklahoma's favorite being able to try to slow down this rushing attack from Missouri and then it comes back around to this.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_03]: Guys, just in general, I think that Missouri is a really good football team.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_03]: I know that coming into the year, they were a group that many including me were wondering where they're going to be taking a step back.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_03]: What was that going to look like?
- 37:32[SPEAKER_03]: They're questions at tackle, they're questions at quarterback.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_03]: And in though, Bob, if you let even if he does give it a go, not going to be 100% and like we've all said in various different ways, this is not really the defense.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_03]: I would want to be battling with a bomb ankle.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_03]: It will be, I do think this is going to be a tough game, a really, really important game for Oklahoma and good news is those.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_03]: They'll be at home and it's one of those things that they've had the hard to kill moniker, which I think just a surface level plays really, really well on the road.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not expecting Oklahoma to come out flat.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't mean that Missouri's not gonna play well, but I'm expecting this Oklahoma team to get to you to build through and I don't think it's gonna be like a UCF coming out of the buy in 2023 off the Texas winter, anything like that as far as a big time left down though.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_03]: I could be wrong.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_03]: I just who've been in Carson talking to the guys after the game and then talking to a Monday night.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't really get that impression that this is a group that is suddenly,
- 38:28[SPEAKER_03]: because they won these two games.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_03]: So like we figured it out where it's a god-given we're down on the playoff.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_03]: It seems like they know the chance that lies ahead of them in these next two games.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, something that Brent has talked a lot about over the past three and a half four years is having being able to respond after you have success.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he finds out a particular challenge, and if you look back at some of his winning streaks, they're kind of short, there's not very many of them, you know, the 2023 season, they started out great non-conference and then lost the two games.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's right, his teams have had a problem sustaining the success that they've had when they get a couple of wins.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: The winning streak tends to be over pretty quickly, it hasn't, they just haven't been able
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: where he has a head coach, you know, on into year four now, he's maybe figured out ways to, you know, motivate and manipulate and move the roster and, you know, move mentally and emotionally, I mean.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: And just, you know, continue to play with the edge that they've had because the last two games, they played with an absolute edge.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: They were the more aggressive team, the more confident team,
- 39:44[SPEAKER_01]: going on the road in Knoxville and and Tuscaloos are you kidding me?
- 39:49[SPEAKER_01]: Oklahoma soon as yeah they did they took both of those wins and so now you've got to come home and be able to kind of recapture that so this is that that to me is the biggest challenge for it for over this week.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I think it's interesting that I think I think it favors them well that they won ugly the last two times they've been out there.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_00]: They haven't been perfect outings.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like they're coming off some just romp where both the offense and defense were just exceptional.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: John material knows he has to be better.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_00]: Ben Arbuckle knows that he has to put together a better game plan.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_00]: Even talking to guys like Kobe McKinsey, Marvin Jones Jr.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: those guys singling out things that they can do better even though they held an Alabama offense that's one of the best in the nation to only 21 points.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that helps and I think also this team especially after what happened last year knows that Missouri is a good challenger.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_00]: I
- 40:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think this Missouri team, if they lose to Oklahoma on Saturday, they're going to finish with a worse record than they had last year.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: This team is a lot better than that, 9 in 3.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think 10 in 3 with a bull game, Missouri team last year.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_00]: I thought they were kind of fraudulent.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_00]: This year's teams fought.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: They've looked really good.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: They've just come out on the short stick against Vanderbilt Bama and him's the only game that got away from them and that was
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: because that was, I mean, I don't know if that was because, but that was Matt Zoller's first star as, or quarterback.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, that weighs large, but that defense is good.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_00]: Hardy is the best back in the conference.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think these players know the challenge that lies ahead of them.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: For me, I think it would be easier to sleep walk into next week's game against LSU, than this week, especially with that recent see of what happened in Columbia last year.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we know this, the best teams were looking at you, Kirby Smart.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_03]: Find whatever, slight you can find to motivate.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that like for the offense, Abraham, I don't know if they could sleep block through it, because I think the offense despite winning the game feels like they sort of a lot to prove.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_03]: The defense, this is where I think like having the depth is massive because I think
- 41:53[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that's gonna happen.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just gonna use this guy as an example because I think he's like the last guy that'd be but like say Taylor Wine after a couple of really, really strong outings to put the chair on top of what's been an awesome season for him.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_03]: Suddenly, these first couple of drives just not locked in stuff like that.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_03]: Well, Miguel Shave has some britmanals and be like, that's cool.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_03]: You can come stand right by me and you can watch PJ play and you can watch Marvel Jones Jr play and you can watch Danny and Kui-A play.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_03]: And again, I don't think it's gonna have to let Taylor win.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_03]: But that's just an example of like,
- 42:21[SPEAKER_03]: Those are the options Oklahoma's defense has if they're not getting the the best effort the most locked in performance and I think that is is really helpful on top of trying to find any way possible to keep fueling themselves going through these last two home games.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think I like the attitude that we've heard and, you know, it's a lot of words and you don't know how that's going to play out until it's, you know, you get a chance to actually see it, but we've seen what we've seen the last couple weeks.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think they've reacted in the right ways sort of played with that, you know, chip on their shoulder mentality.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_02]: I always think about, you know, Michael Jordan.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_02]: uh... could find uh... you know any little edge uh... to to uh... motivate himself uh... in his team uh... during his run and i i think this team is is finding sort of how to do that and that depth that they've added that you talked about ryan i i think it does shine one light in the season when you're so much maybe healthier uh... then you otherwise would be but two
- 43:26[SPEAKER_02]: able to keep pushing guys who otherwise might just buy human nature get a little bit complacent and and Brent Vittable sort of I don't know bristle does the right word but you know said that he didn't feel like his team had any complacency in him right now but
- 43:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's natural to do that, especially after coming off of two is just sort of emotionally exhausting winds as much as physically exhausting and it's going to be paramount for them to keep letting that depth shine through for all the reasons that you mentioned Ryan plus just keeping up that health in maybe a way that wasn't possible the last few years.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_03]: should be a lot of fun 11 a.m. on Saturday, uh, LSU is going to be a 230 game that was announced either on ABC or ESPN.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_03]: I would say this while I understand it does suck vocal offense to not get a home night game, uh, in SEC play.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_03]: might get a home night game in the cost of a playoff.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, to each their own, we will see there on the field, not the only place to Oklahoma is winning off the field.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_03]: They picked up a big recruiting win yesterday, 2027, defensive back in my Cal Davis.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_03]: decides to sign up with the suitors, make his verbal equipment there that is split with number one.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_03]: Seven in the 2027 class that is already off and running and Carson as far as like 206, 207 and beyond.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_03]: We certainly know Jim Nagin, his staff on the field in Tuscaloosa as soon as the final whistle blows, they are basically on their phone already chapped up a bunch of recruits on the place trying to make some last minute gains in 2026 and 207.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_03]: Be like, hey, and you guys see this, you think this guy's on the hot seat, how come he's going to the
- 45:11[SPEAKER_03]: How do you like dead apples?
- 45:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, seriously.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_00]: This, I think that's a big part of it.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_00]: Naggies just taken some of the load off of thenables, the assistants.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, they still have a big role in the recruiting process.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_00]: But that is big, and I think they're evidently really good at what they do, just looking at the 26 and 27 classes.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 45:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's another thing that, in addition to simply pleasing the fan base, getting winning back into Norman, that's another big thing as far as the recent success that had getting once against Bammant and Tennessee, doesn't appear rent venables that is going anywhere.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_00]: He's very, very much out.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_00]: at the very least bought themselves another year.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_00]: And that keeps the recruiting classes intact, obviously, people can still decimate, like that's gonna happen in the recruiting cycle, but to have the number one class in 27 and to have been able to secure at least for another year, probably longer than that, if they look, if they look anything like this year's team, I mean, that's huge beating out schools, I think it was A&M.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_00]: It was Penn State.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's A&M in Miami two and three now.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, Penn State.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: Not so much without James Franklin anymore.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_00]: But to be at the top of the board in next year's Glasses Huge.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_03]: Big time as well.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_03]: Big time for sure for that.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_03]: And it's also huge for like Governor Stitt because as we've seen, if you have a coaching search and the Governor
- 46:43[SPEAKER_03]: then what are we even doing here we've had the attorney general from Mississippi way in we've had governor landry in Louisiana all over the place so I'm sure that governor state is happy he just has to focus on one coaching search in state not just two coaching searches in state for sure and too when you look at this year's recruiting class whatever it finishes up that I think that everyone if you just
- 47:05[SPEAKER_03]: just the most simplistic rankings-based thing.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_03]: This will be the outlier for Brett Vittables and his time at Oklahoma.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_03]: And why is the outlier?
- 47:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think we can all sit there and go, yeah, we knew it was gonna be an uphill battle having to recruit against the negative recruiting of coaching staff, hot seat, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_03]: That is gone away and look.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_03]: They're often running in 27 and put together a fantastic class there.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_03]: So, should be good.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_03]: We'll continue to stay to stay years to the ground because it's Carson in the Sunday, offering that we put out every single Sunday,
- 47:35[SPEAKER_03]: Davis that Oklahoma might be close on there are a couple of guys out there that seem very very close to maybe announcing publicly that they are locked in with the sooner.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_03]: So as always, be sure you're staying on the website, open the suitors on s i dot com for all of that.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_03]: Let's step over into the realm of hoops real quick before we dip out of here.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_03]: It feels like this week is kind of ramp up for both the men and the women for the men.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_03]: They've got ORU Thursday night.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_03]: Then they've got is it Alcorn State on Sunday.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_03]: Got that is they try to ramp up into what is that more cat that's on black Friday.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_03]: I believe for the men the women.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_03]: They've got East Texas A name tonight and then they're just kind of on the slow build till they have the NC state and Bedlam happenings in December Carson.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_03]: You've had a little bit of time to maybe work your way back and see what was happened on Saturday while we were out in about.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_03]: Disappointing against Nebraska for sure, a blood and that 16 point lead when you're looking at these next two games here on Thursday night and Sunday afternoon for For a port or Moses group what what to you?
- 48:39[SPEAKER_03]: Are you looking for what do they need to kind of take the step forward and shake off some of these this early season You know get to know each other period of this roster more than anything.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_00]: I need to see good front court play even in the dark and stuff
- 48:56[SPEAKER_00]: high-move game, which they ended up winning by the first half was very close, simply because they weren't very good down low.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_00]: The bigs for UAPB, which are not that big compared to OU's bigs, had their way down low.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I need to see some of that against inferior competition, oral Roberts, not the team that we've seen in the past from our U, they've had some really good squads, not as much anymore, out court state, one of the lower ranked teams and all of
- 49:26[SPEAKER_00]: So this is a big opportunity to get get some more workings out in low guys like MoWagee.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_00]: Some of their bigs take Davis.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think they need to really put together good showings against these two.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_00]: Two teams that are a lesser competition.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen Flash as I mean the three points shooting at times has been great.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_00]: Nigel Pack looks like he's going to be a good score for this team Xavier Brown.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_00]: They don't press with him, the back court looks really solid.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_00]: If the front court can get it together, I think this team still has potential to be a quality basketball team.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_03]: Do they just need whether it be brown, packed, do they just need someone to just say, listen, I appreciate that we're all trying to be good teammates here, but until someone else takes the mantle, I'm just going to annoy myself to go to, guy, and with that help, maybe some of this, I'm like a smoothing over process of everyone coming together and there'll be in so many new faces.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think so, and I think that is worth noting to that this is almost an entirely new squad, but they have obviously a guideate and foresight.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: Returners from last year, but I mean, it is a very transfer and freshman heavy team.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_00]: I do think somebody like a Nigel Pack that has played basketball for years.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's pushing 25 at this point.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_00]: So he's been through it.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_00]: He needs to step up as a leader for this squad, and his play has already been fantastic.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think he should be just if he could be a little more vocal take a little bit of a leadership role against some of these not so great teams.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_00]: They play before playing market.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think that would go a long way.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_03]: should be good there.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_03]: Be sure you're hitting up the website.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_03]: Cars don't have you tomorrow night.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_03]: Our guy Brady will have you on Sunday for everything min's basketball.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'm moving satellite.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_03]: This is not like shocking.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think anyone was hitting the panic button by any means, but ABER.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_03]: And if here's the lid is come off for Leah Chavez from D, which can only be a good thing for the Oklahoma offense.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no doubt about it.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_02]: And I think we're going to look back at that UCLA game as a turning point for her.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_02]: You have to go through that as a freshman.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_02]: So learn the difference between the competition that you're playing in high school.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_02]: And this is no slight to Belmont who is a pretty good team.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_02]: to start the season, but there's a massive jump from Belmont to UCLA and even from practice to UCLA and I think even though that was a rough start for her particularly that UCLA game, I think that that's
- 51:58[SPEAKER_02]: something that she really needed to figure some things out and start taking some steps in the right direction.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_02]: She's been fantastic, both the shot making recently, but also distributing with the, she had, I believe it was five, assist the other day, three steals, so better defensively as well.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I think,
- 52:21[SPEAKER_02]: This was a great time on the schedule to have that UCLA game.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_02]: I've been talking about that a lot, but I think that that's going to be a big point in the way that they reacted to that is going to be determined of sort of how this season grows.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_02]: And I think also trying to, as much as you can with a really short roster, develop some depth of players that you can trust off the bench.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: I thought, you know, Kaya Smith has been given them some really good, especially defensive minutes.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_02]: Over the last couple of games and Brooklyn Stewart, I think she's going to have a chance to take some significant strides forward, so this is a team that I think still has everything ahead of them that we thought going into the season just was going to have some growing pains.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think you know what's panicking by any means coming out of the UCLA game, but in case you were looking at going, oh, I don't know, UCLA ran away and hid from North Carolina a couple days later, which North Carolina, a fantastic team projected this year, top to and top to the team caliber opponent, oh, I thought Oklahoma hung with UCLA much better than North Carolina did.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was part of Gini Bronshick set exactly what you said they're able to, it's something that,
- 53:41[SPEAKER_03]: Not going to bog down Alia Chavez with game plans and things like that in her second collegiate game because she's got to experience it.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_03]: But also, it's about bringing everybody else along to it and I think that December sets up really, really well for the suit or women.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_03]: You got that NC state game, the SEC ACC challenge.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_03]: That would be a top 15 matchup.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_03]: And then I think they'll have another top 15 matchup by the time that Bedland rolls around because the cow grows are shooting the lights out of the basketball.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to be a fun one in it.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_03]: That's, it might be 120 to 115, which is going to be bent.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_03]: No complaints for Abraham eye.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_03]: The cowgirls there first in three pointers made in 12th and percentage, I think, right?
- 54:19[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe I got that either way, they shoot the three ball really, really well.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_03]: Bedblin plus the fact that the coaching staff don't really like each other anyway.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_03]: On top of that, side me all the way up for all of that.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like for the men in the women, it's this nice little, like,
- 54:32[SPEAKER_03]: ramp up period of a couple more landmarks because I think similarly, bedlam basketball, the men's side will be a really good game that should get everyone ready for us, you see play.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_03]: So we're creeping closer and closer and closer.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_03]: So should be good there, Abras got us for women's basketball.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_03]: This evening, be sure headed website, Oakland, sooners on si.com for all of that fun.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_03]: But if we're content coming throughout the week, you know the drill will have every angle of Oklahoma, Missouri covered except for maybe
- 55:01[SPEAKER_03]: Drink starts on the Epstein files.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_03]: That was an SEC Media Day special little just stay at SEC Media.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_03]: What happened at the College of Ball Hall of Fame stays at the College of Ball Hall of Fame with Ela Drinkwitz and everything that but other than that,
- 55:30[SPEAKER_03]: Excellent.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_03]: Next time we hear from us, we'll be in the post game for Oklahoma and Missouri.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_03]: We'll do a lot of standing up on the field speaking about everything sooner and tigers.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_03]: This will be pretty determined after that, either everything will have to come crashing down.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_03]: Irving will have Jake's to everything it will be in disaster or the suitors will be 60 minutes of football away from returning to the college of perform playoff.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_03]: They just have to go through not one with two tigers to make it happen.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_03]: Should be a ton of fun at 11 a.m. sorry, I'd be there for a piece of
- 55:59[SPEAKER_03]: or move for Carson for a report and ready to grant them.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you all for tuning in.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_03]: We will talk to you guys Saturday post game for the suitors and the
